- 0:00You're listening to Burning Brightly, episode 51, Dealing
- 0:02With Envy.
- 0:04This is Burning Brightly, a podcast for Christian
- 0:07moms who are feeling called to build a
- 0:08business and share their light with the world.
- 0:11I'm Bonnie Wiscombe, a life coach, mom, and
- 0:13entrepreneur.
- 0:14And I'm honored to be your guide as
- 0:15you face this business building adventure full of
- 0:18highs, lows, and everything in between.
- 0:20This is where we help each other find
- 0:22the courage to shine.
- 0:28Hello, my friend.
- 0:28Today's episode is all about that little green
- 0:32monster we like to call envy.
- 0:34It's not a fun emotion.
- 0:35You might not think this is very fun
- 0:36to listen to, but I promise you, you're
- 0:38going to come away with some takeaways that
- 0:39are going to change your life when it
- 0:41comes to feeling jealousy, envy, frustration that maybe
- 0:45someone has or has built something that you
- 0:47want.
- 0:48Now, today we're going to talk primarily about
- 0:50the envy in regards to business.
- 0:52When we look at what someone else has
- 0:53built or we're worried about what we are
- 0:55building.
- 0:56But honestly, some of these tips will help
- 0:57you across the board in all areas of
- 0:59your life, no matter what you might feel
- 1:01envy surrounding.
- 1:02Now, all of us who are human have
- 1:05experienced this emotion at some point or another.
- 1:06And envy, frankly, feels pretty darn terrible.
- 1:10Most of the time, I just want to
- 1:11get rid of it.
- 1:12It feels awful.
- 1:13I kind of sit and wallow in it
- 1:15sometimes.
- 1:15It makes me feel terrible about myself.
- 1:17It makes me feel terrible about my relationships
- 1:19because envy tends to break down relationships as
- 1:22well.
- 1:23But it's also important to remember that it
- 1:24is a normal human emotion.
- 1:27So we're going to have no judgment for
- 1:28ourselves when we feel envy.
- 1:30We're just going to let it move through
- 1:31us.
- 1:32We're going to process it and then we're
- 1:33going to let it go.
- 1:34That's what I'm going to teach you today.
- 1:35So another thing to remember about any emotion
- 1:38that we experience is this.
- 1:41Emotions give us information.
- 1:44So before I learned about life coaching and
- 1:46about how powerful our emotions and thoughts are
- 1:48and how to have power over them, I
- 1:51just thought that when I felt a certain
- 1:53emotion that I didn't want, it kind of
- 1:55meant something bad about me, right?
- 1:56If I was envious, that meant that I
- 1:58was bad.
- 1:59I was a sinner.
- 2:00There was something wrong with me.
- 2:01And now I don't look at it like
- 2:02that anymore.
- 2:03I just look at emotion as information.
- 2:06It means that something is happening in my
- 2:07brain to create this emotion, this vibration in
- 2:09my body, and I'm going to learn why
- 2:11and what it can mean for me and
- 2:13if I want to keep it or let
- 2:14it go.
- 2:15So now when I feel envy or any
- 2:16other emotion that I dislike and I want
- 2:18to get rid of, I don't immediately drop
- 2:20it.
- 2:20I'm not in a real big hurry to
- 2:22let it go because I want to learn
- 2:23from it first.
- 2:24I also try not to hate it.
- 2:25I don't give myself a hard time about
- 2:28it and judge myself and tell myself how
- 2:29terrible I am for feeling envious.
- 2:31I just allow myself to feel it, to
- 2:33learn from it, and then it is so
- 2:35much easier to let it go once we've
- 2:37learned what it's there to teach us.
- 2:40So the first thing I've learned that envy
- 2:41teaches me over the years is that it
- 2:43teaches me what I want.
- 2:45Isn't that interesting?
- 2:46I realized that it is actually quite useful.
- 2:49Envy sometimes can fuel my dreams.
- 2:51Now I don't want to make a habit
- 2:52of feeling it all the time.
- 2:54I actually want to learn to feel it
- 2:56less often.
- 2:57But whenever it comes up for me now,
- 2:59it helps me get to places I've never
- 3:01even dreamed of.
- 3:02So for example, let's say a friend travels
- 3:05to Australia and posts all her videos and
- 3:08photos about it on social media.
- 3:10Envy teaches me that I want that.
- 3:13If someone travels to Istanbul and I don't
- 3:16feel envious, I think, oh, I guess Istanbul
- 3:17isn't on my bucket list.
- 3:19I don't really want that.
- 3:20But Australia apparently, I do because envy came
- 3:23up for me.
- 3:24So I just listen to it and I
- 3:25learn from it and I acknowledge, oh, maybe
- 3:27it's time to put Australia on my bucket
- 3:29list because that looked really fun.
- 3:32When a business acquaintance creates maybe, let's say,
- 3:35a successful membership that you've been dreaming of,
- 3:37or a friend buys a new car that
- 3:40looks really cool, or someone gets in incredible
- 3:43physical shape and does all these triathlons or
- 3:45something, and you feel envy for any of
- 3:48those things, you get to learn, oh, my
- 3:51brain wants that.
- 3:52That looks appealing to me.
- 3:53That seems exciting to me.
- 3:55That looks fun.
- 3:56I want to try that.
- 3:58You can add it to your vision board
- 4:00or your bucket list or your dream list.
- 4:01By the way, all of us should have
- 4:02one of these things, a place to write
- 4:04down things that we want to accomplish or
- 4:06build or places to go.
- 4:08I think it's really powerful when we're building
- 4:10our dreams.
- 4:11But that's what I use Envy for, is
- 4:12to acknowledge, oh, that is something that I
- 4:14want.
- 4:15Oh, now I know.
- 4:16And then I get to kind of watch
- 4:18a little bit and think, oh, what did
- 4:19it take them to get there?
- 4:20Maybe logistically, right?
- 4:21Oh, they had to be able to afford
- 4:22a plane ticket to Australia and find a
- 4:25place to stay.
- 4:25It looks like they went on this safari.
- 4:27That looks pretty cool.
- 4:28So logistically, I figure out what it's going
- 4:30to take.
- 4:30But then also, just acknowledging that that's a
- 4:32priority for me.
- 4:33Maybe travel hadn't been a huge priority for
- 4:35me before.
- 4:36And seeing that, I acknowledge, oh, I'm going
- 4:38to have to start budgeting for some travel
- 4:39because that is a lot more important to
- 4:40me than I realized.
- 4:42Now, I know this sounds kind of ideal,
- 4:44right?
- 4:44Most of the time when Envy comes, we're
- 4:45not thinking positively.
- 4:47We're not thinking in a productive manner about,
- 4:49oh, now I know what I want.
- 4:51Very often, Envy comes from this place of
- 4:53what we like to call dirty pain.
- 4:55It feels yucky.
- 4:57It feels gross.
- 4:58It feels combative sometimes.
- 5:01And we want to get rid of that
- 5:02aspect of it.
- 5:03So what that looks like for me is
- 5:05wishing that I had the thing instead of
- 5:07my friend.
- 5:08So my friend travels to Australia and I
- 5:09think, oh, why did she get that instead
- 5:11of me?
- 5:11I've worked harder than her.
- 5:13I deserve it more, etc.
- 5:15Do you see how that feels very different?
- 5:17And it feels definitely like an emotion we
- 5:19want to get rid of when we're coming
- 5:20at it from that way.
- 5:21Or even looking at my perfectly amazing life
- 5:24and all of the things that I have
- 5:26and saying, oh, it's not enough.
- 5:28I wish my life were different.
- 5:29I wish it were like her life.
- 5:31So that's kind of the dirty negative aspect
- 5:33of Envy that we want to maybe let
- 5:35go of, because that does feel a lot
- 5:37worse than just thinking, oh, now I know
- 5:39that's something that I want.
- 5:40So we're going to look at part of
- 5:41the dirty pain side of Envy and how
- 5:44to move through that as well.
- 5:46All right.
- 5:46So a big, I would call relatively negative
- 5:49emotion that accompanies Envy for me is disappointment.
- 5:53And what that looks like for me is
- 5:54that it makes me think that I'm not
- 5:56successful in meeting my goals and dreams.
- 6:00Maybe I worry that somehow I've missed the
- 6:01boat.
- 6:02I'm disappointed in myself that I'm too late.
- 6:05Somebody else reached this dream before me, or
- 6:07everyone else is doing it faster than me
- 6:09or better than me.
- 6:11Recently, a coach I followed for a while
- 6:13created a new program in her business that
- 6:15is very similar to what I want to
- 6:17launch eventually.
- 6:18I'm not ready for it yet, but eventually
- 6:19down the road, I want to launch a
- 6:20program very similar to this one.
- 6:21And I had some Envy come up.
- 6:23I felt disappointment along with that Envy and
- 6:26thinking, oh, she beat me to it.
- 6:29Which now, looking back, I think that's a
- 6:31very unuseful thought, but that's what came up
- 6:33for me.
- 6:33She beat me to it, and now there's
- 6:35no room for me, which we'll talk about
- 6:36that in a second.
- 6:37So that disappointment part for me is more
- 6:39clean pain, and I want to acknowledge that.
- 6:41Acknowledge that that hurts to see somebody else
- 6:43build something that you've always wanted to, and
- 6:45they did it first.
- 6:47Acknowledge that maybe you thought you'd already be
- 6:49there, or you wish things had gone by
- 6:50faster, or that you had grown bigger in
- 6:53the time you'd been given.
- 6:54And let yourself be disappointed in this for
- 6:56a while or however long it takes.
- 6:58Disappointment feels better than Envy anyway, so just
- 6:59embrace that one and go, yeah, it does
- 7:02feel disappointing to see somebody reach something that
- 7:04I had dreamed of.
- 7:05But then, we need to remember that there
- 7:08is actually room in this world for all
- 7:10of us.
- 7:11Every last one of us, every last dream,
- 7:13every last hope, there exists space for all
- 7:17of it.
- 7:17And every last talent that we have, there's
- 7:20room to grow it.
- 7:21God created us this way on purpose.
- 7:24He would never have duplicated two humans exactly
- 7:26the same, because there's no need for two
- 7:28humans that are exactly the same.
- 7:30There's need for each one of us and
- 7:32our unique talents and strengths.
- 7:33I promise you this.
- 7:35So if you struggle to believe this, work
- 7:37on this belief.
- 7:38Work on this belief for yourself.
- 7:39Maybe write it down, repeat it to yourself,
- 7:41and acknowledge that you probably, like me, believe
- 7:44that God created you the way you are
- 7:45for a reason.
- 7:46There is no other you exactly like you,
- 7:49so there's no reason to be disappointed if
- 7:50someone gets their dream ahead of yours, because
- 7:52yours is going to look a little different
- 7:53anyway.
- 7:54It will actually look better for you, and
- 7:57perfectly suited for you, for your desires, for
- 8:00your wants, and for your strengths.
- 8:02So similar to disappointment, but maybe a little
- 8:04bit less clean feeling, is self-criticism.
- 8:08Sometimes self-criticism comes up for me.
- 8:10I started my coaching business in my 40s.
- 8:13So very often, what comes up for me
- 8:15is that I should have started sooner.
- 8:17I wish I were younger when I had
- 8:19started it.
- 8:19I like to think that I'm too old,
- 8:21or it's too late, or somehow I did
- 8:24something wrong.
- 8:25And if it's not disappointment coming, then it
- 8:27might be self-criticism.
- 8:27Gosh, if only you had done this before.
- 8:30If only you had found this earlier.
- 8:32If only, whatever.
- 8:34But looking back at my life with an
- 8:36eye of self-criticism feels terrible.
- 8:39And I also personally really dislike criticizing my
- 8:42past self.
- 8:43I kind of look at her as a
- 8:44different version of me, and I want to
- 8:46acknowledge that she was doing the best she
- 8:48could do at that time with what she
- 8:49had.
- 8:50She did a great job, honestly.
- 8:52She raised a lot of babies while building
- 8:54businesses.
- 8:55She was exhausted a lot of the time,
- 8:56and she still managed to get up and
- 8:57work on the things that were important to
- 8:59her.
- 8:59I am not going to criticize her at
- 9:01all.
- 9:01I'm going to give her all the credit
- 9:02that is due.
- 9:03And I'm going to acknowledge that the me
- 9:05of today is doing the same thing.
- 9:08So step into a place of compassion and
- 9:10awe for yourself, especially that past self.
- 9:12Look at what she's done.
- 9:13Look what she overcame.
- 9:15Look at her struggles, and how she came
- 9:16out on top, and all of the things
- 9:17that she managed to accomplish.
- 9:18Even if they don't look the way you
- 9:20wish they did, she still did exactly what
- 9:23she was supposed to do and live the
- 9:26life she was supposed to have.
- 9:27And then you get to look at how
- 9:28far you've come.
- 9:30I love the concept of the gap and
- 9:31the gain.
- 9:31I talk about it all the time.
- 9:33If you're not familiar with it, go back
- 9:34to episode 23.
- 9:35It's called Living in the Gain, and I
- 9:36give a summary of that book and of
- 9:38how important it is to look at our
- 9:39lives looking backwards and acknowledging how far we've
- 9:42come instead of constantly looking at how far
- 9:44we'd like to go.
- 9:45Because after all, you would never want your
- 9:47future self to look back at the you
- 9:48of today and think, gosh, what was she
- 9:50doing all day?
- 9:51Be mean to you.
- 9:53No.
- 9:53Every day has the struggles and successes it's
- 9:56supposed to have.
- 9:57So just let it be and stop wishing
- 9:59that things were different.
- 10:01I know it's a struggle, but we can
- 10:02do it.
- 10:02I promise.
- 10:04All right.
- 10:04Another thing that envy brings up for me
- 10:05sometimes is imposter syndrome.
- 10:07Another struggle that we just talked about two
- 10:09episodes ago.
- 10:10There's a whole episode on imposter syndrome.
- 10:12So go listen to that if you missed
- 10:13it.
- 10:13But when I see others get or have
- 10:15or build things that I want, sometimes I
- 10:18feel dumb, like I don't belong, like there's
- 10:20something wrong with me.
- 10:21Sometimes I feel like I'm just not expert
- 10:23enough or not hardworking enough, or I just
- 10:26don't have what it takes.
- 10:27And when I look at my thoughts like
- 10:29this, I want to decide why I'm thinking
- 10:31this way, because we've talked about this before.
- 10:32Our brain doesn't come up with thoughts for
- 10:34no reason.
- 10:35It's usually trying to protect us or trying
- 10:37to save us from failure or embarrassment in
- 10:40some way.
- 10:40So I try to look at those thoughts
- 10:41and analyze them.
- 10:42Why am I thinking this way?
- 10:43Why do I feel like I don't belong
- 10:45or like I'm dumb or something is missing?
- 10:48Sometimes I ask myself, do I think that
- 10:49someone better, quote unquote, qualified would have had
- 10:52success already?
- 10:53Do I think that someone that I needed
- 10:55to be more talented in some way or
- 10:57work harder?
- 10:59What do I think I'm missing?
- 11:00And very often my brain doesn't have an
- 11:02answer for that.
- 11:02I just think, oh, I just don't belong.
- 11:04So kind of hold your feet to the
- 11:06fire a little bit and say, yeah, but
- 11:07what am I missing?
- 11:09Why am I an imposter?
- 11:10Why do I not belong here?
- 11:11And very often your brain won't have an
- 11:13answer for that.
- 11:14And then you're able to move through those
- 11:15thoughts.
- 11:16But again, be so compassionate and curious with
- 11:18yourself.
- 11:19Have a heart to heart talk with that
- 11:20version of yourself that's feeling like she doesn't
- 11:22belong.
- 11:22Maybe there's something deep there that you need
- 11:23to take a look at and then acknowledge
- 11:26what is going right while still acknowledging the
- 11:29pain of unmet expectations and dreams.
- 11:32Did you know you can hold this, these
- 11:33two things in your brain at the same
- 11:35time?
- 11:36I can acknowledge that, hey, I'm doing a
- 11:38lot really well.
- 11:40I'm getting up every day and working on
- 11:41my business.
- 11:42I am trying even when it feels like
- 11:44things aren't going right.
- 11:45And I can also still hold compassion for
- 11:48myself that I haven't yet met the goals
- 11:50that I want to meet.
- 11:51And that's okay.
- 11:52It's okay to feel some pain there and
- 11:55wish that it were a little bit different.
- 11:58This is one of the greatest gifts I've
- 11:59been able to give myself through life coaching
- 12:00is the gift of being able to hold
- 12:02two seemingly opposite emotions in my mind at
- 12:06the same time.
- 12:07I can feel happy and sad at the
- 12:09same time.
- 12:09I can feel excited and proud and also
- 12:12a little disappointed at the same time.
- 12:13It actually feels kind of good to acknowledge
- 12:15the whole gamut of my human experience and
- 12:18not just always trying to find the good.
- 12:20So try it out.
- 12:20It might help you.
- 12:22Above all, please do not give up on
- 12:23your dream simply because you think it's taking
- 12:25longer than it should or because it feels
- 12:28like that dream doesn't belong to you yet.
- 12:30It totally will, but we have to hold
- 12:32space for it before it's real.
- 12:33I know I've talked before about believing in
- 12:35your business before it exists.
- 12:37This is a tricky thing and something we
- 12:38have to practice regularly, but I promise you,
- 12:40you'll get better at it the more you
- 12:42try it.
- 12:42So do not give up yet.
- 12:44Just keep believing that it is coming.
- 12:46Now, the last part of envy that sometimes
- 12:48comes up for me is wondering if maybe
- 12:49I chose the wrong path or if God
- 12:52somehow forgot about me.
- 12:54Sometimes I'll have this dream and I have
- 12:55a very clear vision of how it's going
- 12:57to come to pass.
- 12:59And shocker, my journey never looks like my
- 13:01vision.
- 13:02It never turns out the way I expected.
- 13:04Always different.
- 13:05Sometimes better.
- 13:06Sometimes I think worse.
- 13:07But regardless, it's always going to be a
- 13:09little bit different than how you envision it.
- 13:12And this emotion that accompanies envy, this wondering
- 13:14if maybe I chose the wrong path, I
- 13:15think is the most insidious of all because
- 13:17it feels a little bit like resignation and
- 13:19wanting to quit, right?
- 13:20We see somebody else's success and we think,
- 13:21oh, I'll never get there.
- 13:23I'll never be like that.
- 13:24I'll never succeed like that.
- 13:26Things don't match up to our expectations and
- 13:28so we want to quit.
- 13:30But the first thing to remember in this
- 13:31one is that envy cannot exist without comparison.
- 13:34So if we want to eliminate envy, we
- 13:36can work on eliminating comparison.
- 13:38Start noticing comparison early.
- 13:41Sometimes I start noticing that comparison actually makes
- 13:43me feel good.
- 13:44Maybe I'll compare myself to others and I
- 13:46think maybe I have something over them and
- 13:48it starts to make me feel good about
- 13:49myself.
- 13:49That is just as insidious.
- 13:51So make sure you get rid of that
- 13:52one as soon as possible.
- 13:54So nip comparison in the bud every single
- 13:56time no matter how it makes you feel
- 13:57because even if you're kind of feeling better
- 13:59about yourself than another person, eventually it's going
- 14:02to flip on its head.
- 14:03And either way, that comparison is not Christ
- 14:05-like.
- 14:06So let's get rid of it.
- 14:08Secondly, stop looking at your journey as a
- 14:10before and after.
- 14:11I am still working on this like daily,
- 14:13but it's so powerful.
- 14:15For many, many years, I was thinking, you
- 14:17know, I'm not where I want to be
- 14:18now, but when I get clients, then I'll
- 14:21feel successful.
- 14:22Or when I make X number of dollars,
- 14:24then I'll have arrived.
- 14:25Or when I'm able to buy this thing,
- 14:28then I know my business is taking off.
- 14:30And you can see how this works, right?
- 14:31Like I reached the goal and then I
- 14:33just push it off for another one.
- 14:34Again, the gap and the gain again, right?
- 14:36That same concept.
- 14:37As soon as I got clients, I thought,
- 14:39well, now I just need X number of
- 14:40clients and I get X number of clients.
- 14:41I think, well, actually now I want more,
- 14:43right?
- 14:44It never ends.
- 14:45So we have to look back at how
- 14:46far we've come and celebrate every milestone.
- 14:50Looking at your business as a before and
- 14:51after will cheat you out of all these
- 14:53little amazing milestones that you hit along the
- 14:56way.
- 14:56And I'm talking every little one.
- 14:58I remember one time I had a really
- 15:00tricky, troublesome, technological problem.
- 15:02I think it was with my website.
- 15:04I was so frustrated.
- 15:05I could not figure this thing out.
- 15:06And when I finally figured it out, I
- 15:08think I went and bought myself a treat
- 15:10or something.
- 15:10I can't remember, but I celebrated it because
- 15:12it was something that drove me so crazy
- 15:14and I worked so hard on.
- 15:15Now, no one outside of me will ever
- 15:17know about that struggle and that success.
- 15:19It's not going to be written in my
- 15:21bio anywhere.
- 15:21I'm probably never going to talk about it
- 15:23on stage anywhere, but it was important to
- 15:25me that I persevered and I pushed through
- 15:27that challenge and I celebrated it because I
- 15:29wanted to and I felt so good about
- 15:31pushing through.
- 15:32So don't forget to celebrate every milestone.
- 15:34Finishing your website, setting up your email service
- 15:36provider, talking to your first potential client, anything,
- 15:39anything that gets you a step forward, celebrate
- 15:41that.
- 15:42I actually have a best friend who is
- 15:43also an entrepreneur.
- 15:44And sometimes when we've both had a little
- 15:47success, we will get on the phone together
- 15:49and we will drive to Dairy Queen together,
- 15:50even though we're in different states, and we'll
- 15:52get an ice cream cone at the same
- 15:54time to celebrate those wins.
- 15:55And it's really fun to have a friend
- 15:56do that with you as well.
- 15:57Now, another thing I say all the time
- 15:59is you cannot enjoy the end of a
- 16:00journey that was miserable the whole way there.
- 16:03It's almost impossible.
- 16:05If your business journey is miserable on the
- 16:08way there, the end is not going to
- 16:09feel any different.
- 16:10It's going to feel similarly miserable.
- 16:12Your brain just doesn't know how to switch
- 16:14into success mode.
- 16:15So step into success mode now.
- 16:18Enjoy it now.
- 16:19There is no rule that says you have
- 16:20to make $50,000 before you can enjoy
- 16:23your business.
- 16:23There's no rule that says you even have
- 16:24to have one paying client to enjoy your
- 16:26business.
- 16:27Just enjoy it now.
- 16:28Step into the phase you are now and
- 16:30learn to appreciate where you are now.
- 16:32I'll tell you that when I didn't have
- 16:33any clients, I remember thinking, oh, it's so
- 16:35frustrating.
- 16:36I just want to help someone.
- 16:36And instead, one day I decided, you know
- 16:38what?
- 16:39I can actually not work on my business
- 16:40for a whole week.
- 16:41And it doesn't matter.
- 16:42I can take whatever time I want with
- 16:44my family.
- 16:45And it doesn't matter because I don't have
- 16:46any paying clients yet.
- 16:47And then all of a sudden, something that
- 16:49was a point of shame for me not
- 16:51yet having clients turned into a point of
- 16:53celebration.
- 16:54Actually, I have a lot more freedom than
- 16:56some of my friends who already have paying
- 16:57clients.
- 16:57And I was able to enjoy that phase
- 16:59so much more.
- 17:01So there's no rules that says you can
- 17:03only celebrate certain milestones or you can't enjoy
- 17:05the phases that are the building phases.
- 17:07You can enjoy every step.
- 17:09So this is why God called you to
- 17:12build a business, not for the enjoyment of
- 17:14the after phase, but for the growth that
- 17:16comes along the way.
- 17:17I firmly believe that there is so much
- 17:19for us to learn and grow along the
- 17:20way.
- 17:20Let's enjoy every step of it.
- 17:22Now, lastly, let's talk about feeling that maybe
- 17:24God has forsaken you or left you behind
- 17:26because you haven't reached your goal like everyone
- 17:28else has.
- 17:29God is so keenly aware of you and
- 17:31he knows your innermost dreams, whether you tell
- 17:33him or not.
- 17:34He will not abandon you and he will
- 17:36continue helping you get there if you keep
- 17:38asking.
- 17:39And we remain humble, right?
- 17:41And looking for God's answers to us.
- 17:43I keep listening for course corrections all along
- 17:45the way.
- 17:46Sometimes I have needed to give up something
- 17:48good for something better.
- 17:50When my businesses have shifted, sometimes it has
- 17:52been hard to give up something I've worked
- 17:53really hard on, but I've acknowledged that God
- 17:56is calling me to something better and I've
- 17:57let it go.
- 17:58So when I've needed a course correction, it
- 18:00doesn't feel like some of these emotions we've
- 18:03talked about.
- 18:03It doesn't feel like envy.
- 18:04It doesn't feel like crushing defeat or self
- 18:06-criticism or disappointment.
- 18:07It just feels like a whisper.
- 18:09It feels like maybe a little tinge of
- 18:10discontent or just an idea that won't leave
- 18:12me alone, that maybe I should try this
- 18:14thing, this new thing.
- 18:16So I lean into that and I try
- 18:17to be flexible and then acknowledge that God
- 18:19will take you wherever he can use you
- 18:21most.
- 18:22And his plans are always greater than our
- 18:24plans.
- 18:25So remember to trust him and acknowledge that
- 18:27he has your best interest at heart.
- 18:29I can't wait to see where he takes
- 18:30you.
