  SPEAKER_00: Uh the Time Room aired in Japan originally October 12th, 1988, and in America originally October 16th, 2003.

  SPEAKER_00: And it was October 19th in Japan for the Goku's Doll, and October 20th, 2003, for Goku's Doll America time.

  SPEAKER_00: Differences from the manga and trivia.

  SPEAKER_00: Uh, first things first, guess what the differences from the manga is for these both of these episodes, Jesse?

  SPEAKER_00: The first episode is a flashback episode, or like a time travel episode where we go and meet new people.

  SPEAKER_00: Because the first one is it's implied that Master Roshi did not become perverted until well into his older years, as it would have made it impossible for him to have ridden the flying nimbus that Korrin gave him as a teenager.

  SPEAKER_00: This is certainly contradicted by this episode, because he is trying to peep on fanfan.

  SPEAKER_00: Uh, it is possible that they weren't so severe until he g you know aged further, but also it's implied that it that r by Roshi that Master Shin did go did not go down the path of evil until after he witnessed his Mutaito's defeat.

  SPEAKER_00: Except for in this episode, he already seems like he's kind of a bad guy, you know.

  SPEAKER_00: It's possible that he was always a little evil, but you know, watching Piccolo do that really just pushed him off the edge.

  SPEAKER_00: But it's like it i these are that is a big plot hole, is that he's he was able to ride the cloud until he wasn't.

  SPEAKER_03: I I guess the way I interpret it is it's just he has a really big crush on fanfan.

  SPEAKER_03: And then he just develops more perverted habits later on like a wider variety of all women or whatever.

  SPEAKER_00: Um, the other part about Shin maybe like having a bit of a being like a rebel or kind of a bad boy.

  SPEAKER_00: You're a bad guy, but you are not bad guy.

  SPEAKER_03: Um, like that's that one that one is a little bit less defendable considering like he could like trap them in a ring, a circle of fire, or whatever.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he definitely went a little too far in this episode um for being still reasonably a decent guy.

  SPEAKER_03: But the Roshi one, I think you can explain, like, it feels more like he just has a really extreme crush on this girl.

  SPEAKER_03: And crushes make teenage guys do weird things.

  SPEAKER_03: Um like we were both teenagers, we know what we did with crushes.

  SPEAKER_00: Um, in the Jap in the Japanese version of this episode, young Roshi asks Goku if he saw a fan fans breasts and asked what her nipples look like, which is pretty pretty pretty explicit.

  SPEAKER_00: I'm very much glad that that didn't happen.

  SPEAKER_00: Um in that Goku like says about watching himself swim and then tries to take his shirt off, you know.

  SPEAKER_00: Um, in the Japanese version, Fan Fan recognizes Shin and then tells him that he's not her type.

  SPEAKER_00: In the English version, he pro or she per uh appears to not know who he is until he mentions um the letter that he sent her.

  SPEAKER_00: Then she tells him she he can't that she can't keep her his mother's bracelet.

  SPEAKER_00: Um in the Japanese version, after uh Fanfan is rescued, Roshi says that he'll train seriously to surpass Goku.

  SPEAKER_00: In the dub, Roshi tries to take credit for the fire splitting technique, and Fanfan mentions that she was not unconscious the whole time.

  SPEAKER_00: In the original Japanese version, when Goku hits Shin, the latter states, How dare you, not even my own dad hit me.

  SPEAKER_00: Um, which is most likely a reference to the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam, in which the character Amuro Rei states a similar line when slapped by Bright Noah.

  SPEAKER_00: Uh Shin's Japanese performer uh provided the narration and also uh voiced another character in the other other ser the you know the Gundam series.

  SPEAKER_00: They're also the uh the second characters that uh that reuse designs during a filler because they're also used when they're the drunkards in one of the other episodes.

  SPEAKER_00: Um fanfan also looks a little bit like Colonel Violet um by her appearance um and kindness to monkeys.

  SPEAKER_00: Maybe she's fanfan's uh uh Violet is fanfan's descendant.

  SPEAKER_00: Also, her name is very similar to Ronfon's.

  SPEAKER_00: She's the first killer or fur the first filler character who refuses or who reuses the design of a member of Red Ribbon Army in an episode coming up later in Dragon Ball Z, some of the people that you'll see will also look like Red Ribbon Army members.

  SPEAKER_00: One of Mutayita's disciples who accompanies Master Shin is applying to be a young mercenary Tao, uh, evidenced in the Japanese version when he calls Shin Big Brother.

  SPEAKER_00: Although those are not uh does not explicitly imply blood relation, because that could also be like leadership in Japanese.

  SPEAKER_00: Um Tao's possible appearance also uh contradicts the day uh days in Shustain he was born age 459, two years before the beginning of the first King Piccolo War, when both Shin and Roshi were around 30.

  SPEAKER_00: You know, just basically the timeline doesn't make sense for Tao to be there, but also it's only in the Japanese version where that's even brought up where it could even be a problem.

  SPEAKER_00: Uh the symbol on the doll's gi is uh the kanji or kami, which means um god.

  SPEAKER_00: And he ends up back in time and runs into young Master Roshi, Master Shin, Mu Taito, who is still alive, and Fan Fan.

  SPEAKER_00: And he kind of walks into like a love triangle of sorts, yeah, but he doesn't really care about that because he's just there to fight Mu Taito, who kicks his butt but teaches him how to use like energy bending.

  SPEAKER_00: Spirit energy power, yada yada, hand waving, not science.

  SPEAKER_00: He's able to like and like be by the end of the episode, he does it one time where he's able to focus his energy into a wave that escapes a fire pit that Master Shen caused and the shenanigans that came with the left triangle.

  SPEAKER_00: Muami and all and also Tina and all of them are there, are in their side story training and trying to get strong.

  SPEAKER_00: And then we find out in the second episode that they are heading towards the Coron Tower.

  SPEAKER_00: So going on to the second episode, we have Goku fighting against Mr.

  SPEAKER_00: or, you know, trying to do some of his mental training, and it's like, I'm bored, I want to fight somebody.

  SPEAKER_00: Popo creates a doll that has all the powers and strength of Goku, except for that it's mastered the stay calm and focus.

  SPEAKER_00: And then Goku takes a while, but eventually he starts to figure it out a bit, and right as he does, the training is over.

  SPEAKER_00: We didn't know that they were running to the corn tower until the second episode.

  SPEAKER_00: We're on this one location, which is the outside of the of Kami's palace, and that is where we are stuck at, you know.

  SPEAKER_03: The only time in the A-plot that we are not outside the k the palace is when Popo steals the hair from Goku and then goes into a workshop and makes the doll.

  SPEAKER_00: Goku is finally maybe starting to figure it out a little bit and able to like use it.

  SPEAKER_00: There's another thing to like put be able to practice it in battle.

  SPEAKER_00: And it seems like Fighting himself finally like unlocked it for him somehow.

  SPEAKER_00: Where he's finally able to like take that and morph it into what he can do.

  SPEAKER_00: And so, like, that is like the main thing of the second episode.

  SPEAKER_03: The second the second episode, I know we like to go like an episodic order of what we're talking about.
