- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm going to go to the word of God. I
- 0:02Speaker 1: think I got everything done. Amen. That needed to be done.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Go to Matthew 6, 25 through 34. And let's go
- 0:15Speaker 1: to the word. Let's go to work. By the way,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Matthew 6 is something you ought to include in your
- 0:24Speaker 1: Bible study. In part in case I don't finish today,
- 0:29Speaker 1: but it's just a great text. It's just a great text.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And we're going to be reading out the NIV. If
- 0:37Speaker 1: you're watching online, we'll put it up on the screen
- 0:41Speaker 1: for you. The Gospel of St. Matthew 6, 25 through 34. Therefore,
- 0:48Speaker 1: I tell you, do not worry about your life.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I told you.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Do not worry about your life, like what you will
- 0:59Speaker 1: eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Is not life more than food and the body more
- 1:06Speaker 1: than clothes? Look at the birds of the air. They
- 1:10Speaker 1: do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not
- 1:17Speaker 1: much more valuable than they? Amen. Can any one of
- 1:22Speaker 1: you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
- 1:28Speaker 1: And why do you worry about clothes? See how the
- 1:31Speaker 1: flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all
- 1:39Speaker 1: his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that
- 1:44Speaker 1: is how God clothes the grass of the field, which
- 1:47Speaker 1: is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire,
- 1:51Speaker 1: will he not much more clothe you? You of little faith.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So do not worry saying, what shall we eat or
- 2:01Speaker 1: what shall we drink or what shall we wear? For
- 2:05Speaker 1: the pagans run after all these things. And your heavenly
- 2:08Speaker 1: father knows that you need them. He's not against them.
- 2:11Speaker 1: He knows that you need them. But seek ye first.
- 2:14Speaker 2: But seek ye first. But seek ye first.
- 2:20Speaker 1: His kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will
- 2:24Speaker 1: be given to you and all these things. He's not
- 2:27Speaker 1: preaching against things. He's talking about priorities. All these things
- 2:33Speaker 1: will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And this is what I want you to look at. Therefore,
- 2:41Speaker 1: do not worry about tomorrow. Say that with me. Therefore,
- 2:46Speaker 1: do not worry about tomorrow. Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Say it again.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow. The reason I have
- 2:57Speaker 1: you saying it You know that faith comes by hearing
- 3:01Speaker 1: and hearing by the word of God. But your soul
- 3:03Speaker 1: needs to hear yourself say, do not worry. It's one
- 3:08Speaker 1: thing to hear me say it, but when you say
- 3:10Speaker 1: it to yourself, when you say things to yourself, you
- 3:14Speaker 1: give birth inside of yourself. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow.
- 3:21Speaker 1: For tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough
- 3:25Speaker 1: trouble of its own.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Isn't that good?
- 3:29Speaker 1: I want to preach this morning, tomorrow belongs to God.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Somebody say, tomorrow belongs to God. Say it again, tomorrow
- 3:44Speaker 1: belongs to God.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Let's pray.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Spirit of the living God falls fresh on us today
- 3:49Speaker 1: as we delve into your word. We need your word,
- 3:52Speaker 1: your precepts, your guidance, your direction, your correction, your instruction.
- 3:57Speaker 1: inflame the word of God inside of us let it
- 4:00Speaker 1: swell up in us let it be magnified let it
- 4:03Speaker 1: multiply let it be fruitful in us in the name
- 4:06Speaker 1: of Jesus we pray amen on your way to your
- 4:09Speaker 1: seat say tomorrow belongs to God type it on the
- 4:14Speaker 1: line tomorrow belongs to God You know, whenever somebody asks
- 4:25Speaker 1: you how you're doing, I always make the reference that
- 4:28Speaker 1: nobody stops for you to answer. And then I started
- 4:32Speaker 1: thinking about it, and I started realizing if they were
- 4:36Speaker 1: to stop.
- 4:37Speaker 2: What would I answer?
- 4:39Speaker 1: Because really how I'm doing is a big conversation. It
- 4:44Speaker 1: depends on which me you're talking about. Amen. There's about
- 4:49Speaker 1: 10 of us going, how am I doing in my body?
- 4:51Speaker 1: How am I doing in my finances? How am I
- 4:53Speaker 1: doing in my mind? How am I doing in my business?
- 4:56Speaker 1: How am I doing in my family? How am I
- 4:58Speaker 1: doing all kinds of ways? Emotionally, this is mental health.
- 5:01Speaker 1: How am I doing? It's a long conversation. So if
- 5:04Speaker 1: you don't have like three or four hours, just wave
- 5:07Speaker 1: at me. Don't ask me no questions you don't have
- 5:10Speaker 1: time to spend time getting the answer to. Maybe it's
- 5:15Speaker 1: just me, but how many of you have found yourself
- 5:18Speaker 1: struggling to rest in today for fear of tomorrow? Struggling
- 5:24Speaker 1: to rest in today for.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Fear of tomorrow.
- 5:27Speaker 1: We're living in the most uncertain times that I have
- 5:30Speaker 1: ever seen. You can't be quite sure of anything. You
- 5:33Speaker 1: can't be sure of the values of our world, of
- 5:37Speaker 1: our country, of our government, of the place you work.
- 5:40Speaker 1: You can't be sure. Everything's shifting. Everybody's shifting. Everybody's gone
- 5:45Speaker 1: blind to what they said yesterday. There are no absolutes anymore.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Things don't have to be bad just to be threatening.
- 5:57Speaker 1: It's not that something has happened. It's like a cloud of,
- 6:02Speaker 1: suppose this doesn't work. Suppose that doesn't work. Suppose this happens.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Suppose that happens. Suppose, suppose, suppose. Often the threat rests
- 6:12Speaker 1: solely in the crevices of your own mind. Am I
- 6:17Speaker 1: the only one that ever feels threatened? Just threatened sometimes
- 6:23Speaker 1: you don't even know what you're threatened about you just
- 6:26Speaker 1: feel threatened It's it's it's often the threat test solely
- 6:31Speaker 1: in the crevices of your mind to the point that
- 6:34Speaker 1: you wake up late at night and it's like the
- 6:37Speaker 1: night of the living dead and you find yourself in
- 6:40Speaker 1: situations and Circumstance where all these entombed issues come out
- 6:45Speaker 1: in your dreams Come out in insomnia Or just an
- 6:52Speaker 1: overall feeling of dis-ease. We should really look at that
- 6:58Speaker 1: word dis-ease. Because we say it disease. But disease is dis-ease.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Your body was not designed to ingest dis-ease. And yet
- 7:15Speaker 1: we are living in a world that is increasingly diseasing.
- 7:22Speaker 1: You know, I stopped listening at the same story play
- 7:26Speaker 1: over and over on the news over and over again
- 7:28Speaker 1: because I don't need to reinforce. I heard that already.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I don't need to hear everybody comment on everything about
- 7:34Speaker 1: it because it creates a spirit of dis-ease. And the
- 7:39Speaker 1: reason we have a home is a place to rest in.
- 7:43Speaker 1: A place to relax in. A place to renew yourself in.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And I don't mean all things are going bad. That's
- 7:51Speaker 1: one thing. But when your life is an oxymoron, you know,
- 7:58Speaker 1: an oxymoron is when two contrasting things coexist in the
- 8:03Speaker 1: same space.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Like hot ice.
- 8:08Speaker 1: An oxymoron is a term that doesn't make sense and
- 8:11Speaker 1: yet it is true. Your life doesn't make sense and
- 8:14Speaker 1: yet it is true. It kind of reminds me of
- 8:16Speaker 1: Charles Dickens' statement and I quote, it was the best
- 8:20Speaker 1: of times and it was the worst of times. It
- 8:24Speaker 1: was the age of wisdom. It was the age of foolishness.
- 8:29Speaker 1: It was the epoch of belief. It was the epoch
- 8:32Speaker 1: of incredulity. It was the season of light. It was
- 8:37Speaker 1: the season of darkness. It was the spring of hope.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And it was the winter of despair. All at the
- 8:45Speaker 1: same time. And you're weaving through the traffic of laughter
- 8:52Speaker 1: and tears. Weaving through the traffic trying to dodge the
- 8:57Speaker 1: cars of.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Pain and power.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Goodness and agony all at the same time staring out
- 9:06Speaker 1: of a glass that that should be clear late at
- 9:09Speaker 1: night a window that is darkened by night instead all
- 9:13Speaker 1: we see is the sleepless eyes staring out of glass
- 9:17Speaker 1: so blackened by night that your house is a house
- 9:20Speaker 1: of mirrors and your life resembles a carnival You don't
- 9:26Speaker 1: understand what I'm saying unless you woke up in the
- 9:29Speaker 1: middle of the night and stared out of a window
- 9:32Speaker 1: where you couldn't see anything except your own reflection. And
- 9:36Speaker 1: instead of it being a house of rest, it is
- 9:38Speaker 1: a carnival of disease. A bill we can't pay. A
- 9:44Speaker 1: child we can't heal. A job we hate. Or a
- 9:51Speaker 1: lurking sense of danger. It is in a roommate to
- 9:57Speaker 1: an impending blessing. A lurking sense of danger is roommate
- 10:02Speaker 1: to an impending blessing. So on one hand, I'm the happiest,
- 10:07Speaker 1: saddest I've ever been. I'm the happiest, saddest I've ever been.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm the most victorious, defeated I've ever been. I'm the
- 10:22Speaker 1: most accomplished insecure I've ever been. All at the same time.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Best and worst at times, all at the same time.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Is there anybody in here that can relate to it?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Now I know that there is a spiritual quorum of
- 10:36Speaker 1: people in here who only profess what's good. But when
- 10:40Speaker 1: nobody's looking, you worry about what's bad. You always have
- 10:45Speaker 1: a positive confession and I'm not hating on you going
- 10:47Speaker 1: with your positive confession. But to the people who want
- 10:50Speaker 1: to keep it real in here. You live your life
- 10:58Speaker 1: braced almost for the next shoe to drop. And you
- 11:02Speaker 1: don't know which shoe it's going to be. Is it
- 11:04Speaker 1: going to be a blessing shoe or is it going
- 11:06Speaker 1: to be a burdensome shoe? But you brace for it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Either way it comes. Either way it comes, I got
- 11:11Speaker 1: to deal with it. Whatever it is, I got to.
- 11:13Speaker 1: The uncertainty is worse than the shoe drop. Can anybody
- 11:20Speaker 1: relate to what I'm talking about? Why are the weapons
- 11:23Speaker 1: of our warfare not more accessible when we need them
- 11:26Speaker 1: the most? I don't need the weapons of my warfare
- 11:29Speaker 1: so much in church. I need the weapons of my
- 11:35Speaker 1: warfare to activate at 3 o'clock in the morning.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Come on.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I need the weapons of my warfare to activate when
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm in the grocery store and somebody has said something
- 11:47Speaker 1: to me so crazy that I'm not sure whether I'm
- 11:53Speaker 1: called to ministry or not. I might be called to
- 11:56Speaker 1: be a part of the crypts. There are people that
- 12:01Speaker 1: make me feel like a gang leader every now and then.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And I need the weapons of my warfare to work
- 12:07Speaker 1: for me right then. Why are they not more accessible?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Because you can get in the crisis, in the storm,
- 12:13Speaker 1: in the test, in the hospital, in the rain, at
- 12:16Speaker 1: the cemetery, at the IRS meeting, at the accountant's office,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and forget everything you heard Sunday. It's not that we
- 12:30Speaker 1: don't have the weapons. They're not always accessible because we
- 12:35Speaker 1: don't use them enough to keep them close enough that
- 12:38Speaker 1: they become a norm. They become a Sunday morning accessory.
- 12:43Speaker 1: And in the time of trouble, you got it. You
- 12:46Speaker 1: got it in trouble, but you got to find it.
- 12:50Speaker 1: You know, it reminds me of several years ago, we
- 12:53Speaker 1: were at Woman Dark Lucid. It was the first really
- 12:55Speaker 1: big one. We had 54,000 women, and we were in Atlanta,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and I was amazed and worried and happy and sad
- 13:02Speaker 1: and glad and confident and nervous and walking by faith
- 13:06Speaker 1: and scared to death. So this has been going on
- 13:09Speaker 1: a long time. 54,000 women, and we made it to
- 13:12Speaker 1: the end of the conference. We had filled up half
- 13:14Speaker 1: of the Georgia Dome with 54,000 women. We had packed
- 13:17Speaker 1: it out for us at that time. That was really
- 13:19Speaker 1: great success. And everybody was leaving. It was wonderful. It
- 13:22Speaker 1: was a success. The power got failed. People were healed.
- 13:26Speaker 1: They were delivered. All kinds of things happened. Yokes were
- 13:29Speaker 1: broken over. People have been abused and molested and ostracized.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And it was a powerful meeting. And it was so
- 13:35Speaker 1: powerful that even after the meeting was over, we went
- 13:38Speaker 1: to the airport and we were singing in the airport.
- 13:43Speaker 1: You get 54,000 predominantly black women singing in the airport
- 13:47Speaker 1: and the security goes nuts. They don't know what to do.
- 13:51Speaker 1: People laying hands on people in the restaurant. See, our culture,
- 13:56Speaker 1: when we get happy, we don't hide it. When we
- 14:01Speaker 1: get mad, we don't hide it. When we dance, we
- 14:06Speaker 1: don't hide it. Whatever we feel, you gonna get some
- 14:08Speaker 1: of that today.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Amen.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Multiply by 54,000 and you'll see the picture. We besieged
- 14:18Speaker 1: the airport. We filled it with glee and singing all
- 14:23Speaker 1: in the corridor. It was crazy. We turned it into church, woman,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'll lose two. I mean, people like the Pace sisters
- 14:32Speaker 1: and the Clark sisters and all these people were all
- 14:35Speaker 1: there in the airport and we were getting it on
- 14:38Speaker 1: and people were taking pictures and I was young then.
- 14:42Speaker 1: They were taking pictures and all up in my face
- 14:44Speaker 1: and I was trying to wave at everybody and check
- 14:47Speaker 1: my bags in and go through the magnometer and everything
- 14:51Speaker 1: was wonderful and oh, thank you for having it.
- 14:54Speaker 2: You God's man. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Glory to God.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I want a picture with the man of God. And
- 15:00Speaker 1: I'm going through there. And my family's going through there.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And we're going through the airport. And I got my
- 15:05Speaker 1: mom with me. And we're having a wonderful time. Generations
- 15:08Speaker 1: of women rejoicing. When you got 54,000 women taking pictures
- 15:14Speaker 1: and screaming, all the other people was trying to figure out,
- 15:17Speaker 1: who is he? And I wasn't sure how to answer
- 15:22Speaker 1: that question. Because it takes years to answer it.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Who is he?
- 15:32Speaker 1: But I was sure I was going to be waving
- 15:34Speaker 1: and being nice. I've always been gregarious and I'm going,
- 15:38Speaker 1: I was waving at people and they was taking pictures
- 15:40Speaker 1: and I was posing with strangers and taking pictures with
- 15:44Speaker 1: babies and.
- 15:44Speaker 2: All that stuff.
- 15:45Speaker 1: When all of a sudden I looked around and we
- 15:47Speaker 1: were surrounded by police.
- 15:51Speaker 2: And I thought, what happened?
- 15:53Speaker 1: We were at the magnometers checking in our bags and
- 15:56Speaker 1: I was taking pictures and everything. I wasn't paying a
- 15:58Speaker 1: whole lot of attention. And the next thing I knew,
- 16:00Speaker 1: police were all around me. Come to find out, one
- 16:07Speaker 1: of our bags had a Pearl revolver in it.
- 16:15Speaker 2: And it was my mother's.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Now you got to understand this. I got all these
- 16:31Speaker 1: security and deacons and friends and all these people around here.
- 16:35Speaker 1: They ain't got nothing. My mother is loaded.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 16:41Speaker 1: She got a little baby Glock down in her pocketbook.
- 16:45Speaker 1: You know, I talked about I wish you would. And
- 16:50Speaker 1: we're going through the thing and all of a sudden
- 16:51Speaker 1: they said we found this in the bag. Now it
- 16:53Speaker 1: is a big bag. It's her pocketbook. And my mother
- 16:59Speaker 1: carried big pocketbooks and it was in the bottom of
- 17:02Speaker 1: the pocketbook.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I was so mad at her.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I told you I got 54,000 women around me taking
- 17:11Speaker 1: pictures and all of a sudden the police have surrounded
- 17:14Speaker 1: us and they're taking us in the back. And I
- 17:16Speaker 1: seriously thought about taking her life.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I thought I'd take you out right now.
- 17:25Speaker 1: And she was embarrassed, but she said, this is what
- 17:28Speaker 1: she said to me, it was just a little one.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Like I left a machine gun at home, you know?
- 17:40Speaker 1: So you oughta be glad I didn't bring my real
- 17:42Speaker 1: stuff out here. But you know, it was just a little,
- 17:47Speaker 1: the thing that amazed me though, is that it was
- 17:50Speaker 1: under the makeup, it was under all kinds of tissues,
- 17:52Speaker 1: it was under all kinds of other stuff, but if
- 17:55Speaker 1: somebody would have snatched us, by the time she got
- 17:58Speaker 1: to the gun, I said, mama, why are you carrying
- 18:03Speaker 1: a gun you can't access? If you're going to carry
- 18:16Speaker 1: the thing up in here, at least be able to
- 18:20Speaker 1: get to it. I could see my mama saying, you
- 18:23Speaker 1: just wait a minute. Wait, wait a minute. You keep
- 18:27Speaker 1: talking a minute. When I get to this, I'm going
- 18:30Speaker 1: to stretch out my body and we'd all been dead.
- 18:39Speaker 1: How accessible are your weapons? You have them, but can
- 18:48Speaker 1: you reach them in time? In the time of trouble,
- 18:51Speaker 1: in the time of stress, in the time of agony,
- 18:54Speaker 1: in the time of pain, in the time of frustration
- 18:57Speaker 1: and agony and disorientation and dis-ease. Do you only have
- 19:03Speaker 1: your weapons when you come to church? Or does it
- 19:08Speaker 1: work in your house? Does it work on your job?
- 19:10Speaker 1: Does it work at 2 o'clock in the morning? Does
- 19:12Speaker 1: it work when all hell comes against you? It's not
- 19:15Speaker 1: enough to teach you to carry it if you can't
- 19:18Speaker 1: reach it. You got to be able to activate. Somebody
- 19:24Speaker 1: say activate. You got to be able to activate. You
- 19:27Speaker 1: got to be able to activate. You can't activate your
- 19:31Speaker 1: faith if it's in the bottom of your pocketbook, mama.
- 19:37Speaker 1: You can't activate what you can't access. The challenge that
- 19:47Speaker 1: Jesus is having is to try to teach his disciples
- 19:52Speaker 1: to make prayer a lifestyle. To make it a lifestyle.
- 20:01Speaker 1: You know why worship service is sometimes difficult? Because we're outnumbered.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You hear them say this morning, I listened to Sister
- 20:12Speaker 1: April say this morning how they were out here early
- 20:14Speaker 1: singing the worship songs before you got here. But if
- 20:18Speaker 1: they're out here worshiping before you come and you're in
- 20:22Speaker 1: the car cussing before you come, the distance between where
- 20:26Speaker 1: your head is at and where our head is at
- 20:29Speaker 1: is so far. Or maybe you're just worried. And we
- 20:37Speaker 1: got to crack through ice. To get through nights and
- 20:42Speaker 1: nights and nights of disease. Jesus in the pretext of
- 20:49Speaker 1: this text is teaching his disciples about prayer. And they
- 20:54Speaker 1: are asking him teach us to pray because he has
- 20:59Speaker 1: modeled prayer in front of them.
- 21:02Speaker 2: The text comes after him.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Giving them the model prayer, what we call the Lord's Prayer,
- 21:08Speaker 1: which we ought to call the disciples' prayer, because it's
- 21:11Speaker 1: really the prayer he gave.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Us to pray. Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
- 21:18Speaker 1: on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
- 21:20Speaker 1: day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as
- 21:23Speaker 1: we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not
- 21:25Speaker 1: into temptation, but deliver us from evil. That prayer right there,
- 21:30Speaker 1: he gave them that template for prayer. But the real
- 21:33Speaker 1: model is how he lived his life, not just what
- 21:37Speaker 1: he said. He told them that real prayer has nothing
- 21:43Speaker 1: to do with eloquence. He associated that with the Pharisees.
- 21:47Speaker 1: They were known for their swelling words and their long prayers.
- 21:51Speaker 1: He wants us to know that prayer doesn't inform God. Instead,
- 21:56Speaker 1: it invites him. God doesn't need you to tell him
- 22:03Speaker 1: what's going on. He already knows what's going on. You
- 22:06Speaker 1: don't pray to inform him. You pray to invite him. Oh,
- 22:10Speaker 1: y'all don't hear what I'm saying. I'm going to drop
- 22:13Speaker 1: something heavy on you. I'm going to drop some heavy
- 22:15Speaker 1: stuff on you. You pray to invite him into your finances.
- 22:18Speaker 1: You invite him. You don't inform him. Lord, you know
- 22:21Speaker 1: the rent is due on Thursday. Yeah, I know that.
- 22:25Speaker 1: You know I got laid off. Yeah, I was there.
- 22:29Speaker 1: You know they hurt my feelings. I quit my job.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I got mad. I just want to. Yeah, I know.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I know. You don't inform him. You invite him. Come
- 22:40Speaker 1: into my good decision. Come into my bad decision. Come
- 22:44Speaker 1: into what I regret. Come into the place where I
- 22:48Speaker 1: reacted out of my emotions rather than your word. I
- 22:52Speaker 1: invite you into the situation. I invite you into the
- 22:55Speaker 1: job I shouldn't have took. The deal I shouldn't have done,
- 23:02Speaker 1: the place I need your direction because my mouth gets
- 23:07Speaker 1: me in trouble. I need your word to prevail over
- 23:10Speaker 1: my word so that I can be better heard and
- 23:14Speaker 1: be more effective. I invite you. Let's just take a
- 23:17Speaker 1: moment right now and invite him. Let's invite him. Let's
- 23:22Speaker 1: invite him. Let's invite him. Let's invite him. See, you
- 23:24Speaker 1: got ready to praise, but I want you to pray.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Let's invite him. Let's invite him. My house shall be
- 23:30Speaker 1: called a house of prayer. You've made it a den
- 23:33Speaker 1: of thieves, but it should be called.
- 23:35Speaker 2: A house of prayer.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Jesus' conviction about prayer is evident throughout the scriptures. It
- 23:42Speaker 1: is so evident throughout the scriptures that he tantalized them
- 23:46Speaker 1: until they taught us, teach us to pray. Because every
- 23:50Speaker 1: time they turned around over and over again, Jesus slips
- 23:53Speaker 1: away from the crowd and his responsibility to spend.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Time in prayer.
- 23:59Speaker 1: His benefits are demonstrated through his life. His benefits are
- 24:06Speaker 1: demonstrated through his life to the point that they finally say,
- 24:09Speaker 1: you're teaching us about the kingdom. The kingdom of heaven
- 24:11Speaker 1: is like it. The kingdom of heaven is like it.
- 24:13Speaker 1: The kingdom of heaven is like it. But what you're
- 24:16Speaker 1: not teaching us is every so often you go apart
- 24:19Speaker 1: to the mountain by yourself and hide yourself behind a
- 24:22Speaker 1: rock and do something that makes you able to walk
- 24:25Speaker 1: on water when you come out. Teach us how to
- 24:27Speaker 1: do that. Teach us how to do that right there.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Teach us how to do that right there. Teach us
- 24:33Speaker 1: how to do that right there. Teach us how to
- 24:35Speaker 1: do that right there. They had seen him do it
- 24:38Speaker 1: in so many different ways. And I'm going to give
- 24:41Speaker 1: you a few ways that Jesus models prayer and the
- 24:45Speaker 1: benefits of prayer for you to jot down. Number one,
- 24:50Speaker 1: peace in the storm. Peace in the storm is a
- 24:56Speaker 1: result of communion with God. They are in a tornado
- 25:02Speaker 1: and Jesus is at rest.
- 25:05Speaker 2: This is what prayer does for you.
- 25:08Speaker 1: It braces you against external extremities so that you're not
- 25:14Speaker 1: always reacting to what you see going on around you.
- 25:17Speaker 1: When you have a lifestyle of prayer, you don't act
- 25:21Speaker 1: like the crowd. Everybody's screaming and running and jumping off
- 25:25Speaker 1: the boat. But when you've been talking to God before
- 25:28Speaker 1: the storm, you have peace in the storm. Oh, y'all
- 25:33Speaker 1: don't hear what I'm saying. I got chill bumps on
- 25:35Speaker 1: my arm. You got peace in the middle of the store.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Is there anybody in here that's had unexplainable peace? You
- 25:43Speaker 1: don't even know. It's not even your character. It's not
- 25:46Speaker 1: even your nature. That comes from having a consistent relationship
- 25:51Speaker 1: prayer life, not a church prayer life, not an, oh,
- 25:55Speaker 1: thou God who ruleth the winds and waves and stands
- 25:58Speaker 1: on eternity and overlooks the corridors of time into thy prison.
- 26:03Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 26:04Speaker 1: This is the kind of prayer where you drive down
- 26:05Speaker 1: the road and say, Jesus, I don't know what we're
- 26:07Speaker 1: going to do about this, but I'm trusting you about that.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And if you don't want me to do this, I
- 26:12Speaker 1: need you to, this is the kind of prayer that
- 26:14Speaker 1: is not eloquent. It is just you crying out, hey!
- 26:23Speaker 1: Somebody holler, help! The woman who said that, who authored
- 26:36Speaker 1: that book, her daughter was grievously vexed with the devil.
- 26:39Speaker 1: She didn't have time to be eloquent. When you're in
- 26:42Speaker 1: a fight with the devil, you don't have time to
- 26:43Speaker 1: be eloquent. We don't need an exercise in your vocabulary.
- 26:47Speaker 1: We don't need you to tune up. We need you
- 26:50Speaker 1: to open your mouth, help! And the benefits of prayer
- 27:00Speaker 1: is demonstrated in the storm. How you react to the
- 27:05Speaker 1: storm determines how far you're going to go. You can't
- 27:10Speaker 1: be a leader if you freak out. You got to
- 27:14Speaker 1: keep a calm head in a crisis. I might freak
- 27:17Speaker 1: out after the crisis, but in the middle of the crisis,
- 27:21Speaker 1: I'm going to stand up to this. One of the
- 27:23Speaker 1: things I love about my wife, I love about her,
- 27:27Speaker 1: my wife does not freak out in a crisis. No,
- 27:31Speaker 1: she goes into lockdown mode like something you have not seen. Now,
- 27:36Speaker 1: two weeks later, she may burst into tears. But while
- 27:40Speaker 1: you are in the store, she going to box like
- 27:43Speaker 1: Mike Tyson. She going to box. No, let me tell you, girl,
- 27:49Speaker 1: you bad with that. She going to box like Mike Tyson.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I was raised to box like that. I was raised
- 27:56Speaker 1: to fight like that. If you started getting hysterical, my
- 27:59Speaker 1: mother would slap you. She said, you may not have
- 28:03Speaker 1: the peace of God, but you're going to have the
- 28:04Speaker 1: peace of Oda because I'm going to knock you out.
- 28:10Speaker 1: You hold it together. You hold it together. I couldn't
- 28:21Speaker 1: even fall apart at her funeral because I could hear her.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I was about to collapse.
- 28:26Speaker 1: We were closing the casket and I was about to
- 28:28Speaker 1: collapse and I could.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Hear her say, what good would that do?
- 28:35Speaker 1: Discipline. Discipline over your emotions. We have a generation, and
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm talking about all of us, all ages that are
- 28:43Speaker 1: alive in this era of undisciplined people who say whatever
- 28:49Speaker 1: they think, however they think, whenever they want to.
- 28:51Speaker 2: You don't have no prayer life.
- 28:53Speaker 1: You talk to people when you ought to be talking
- 28:55Speaker 1: to God. If you start talking to God, it'll change
- 28:58Speaker 1: how you talk to people.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Come on, somebody.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Jesus demonstrates prayer for them, number two, deliverance for others.
- 29:14Speaker 1: He comes down off of the Mount of Transfiguration. The
- 29:17Speaker 1: disciples have been wrestling with this boy, fighting for his life.
- 29:21Speaker 1: He's casting himself into the water. He's casting himself into
- 29:25Speaker 1: the fire. They cannot control this demon. I want to
- 29:29Speaker 1: talk to some people who have a demon that's out
- 29:31Speaker 1: of control in your life and you cannot control it.
- 29:34Speaker 1: And when Jesus comes down, the boy's father embarrasses the
- 29:38Speaker 1: disciples by saying, I brought him to your disciples and
- 29:42Speaker 1: they couldn't do nothing with him there are some things
- 29:49Speaker 1: you have to bring directly to Jesus You don't need
- 29:53Speaker 1: an appointment with the bishop. You don't need an appointment
- 29:55Speaker 1: with a counselor. You don't need an appointment with a team.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Some stuff you got is some demons you got to
- 30:01Speaker 1: take to Jesus. Never mind the fact that the boy
- 30:05Speaker 1: got in the fire but didn't get burned up and
- 30:08Speaker 1: got in the water and he never drowned. Jesus is
- 30:10Speaker 1: already present, but you're tired of going through the struggle
- 30:14Speaker 1: and the fight and the warfare. Jesus says, bring him
- 30:17Speaker 1: to me. And afterwards the disciples asked him, what went wrong?
- 30:23Speaker 1: And I respect them for that. Because no failure makes
- 30:29Speaker 1: you a failure until, unless you will not examine, what
- 30:35Speaker 1: did I do wrong? If you learn from it, it
- 30:42Speaker 1: can't be a failure. Jesus said, you didn't do anything wrong.
- 30:48Speaker 1: It's what you didn't do. This kind cometh out by
- 30:52Speaker 1: much prayer and fasting. So Jesus is gradually teaching them
- 30:58Speaker 1: about prayer. Number three, he teaches them submission to the process.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Through prayer, he teaches them that when it gets hard
- 31:09Speaker 1: to submit to the process, and it often does, and
- 31:13Speaker 1: it even did for Jesus, so stop trying to sell
- 31:16Speaker 1: me this bill that everything is easy for you. If
- 31:19Speaker 1: it got hard for Jesus, I know it got hard
- 31:21Speaker 1: for you, so shut up. If you just want my faith,
- 31:27Speaker 1: it ain't nothing.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Shut up!
- 31:29Speaker 1: Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up. You a
- 31:31Speaker 1: liar and a hypocrite too. It got hard for Jesus.
- 31:36Speaker 1: And Jesus took his inner circle out to the garden
- 31:39Speaker 1: of Gethsemane just so that he would be able to
- 31:43Speaker 1: pray his way into submission to the process. Father, if
- 31:49Speaker 1: it be thy will, pass this bitter cup for me.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Sometimes God's will will carry you through roads you don't
- 31:56Speaker 1: want to ride on. Oh, y'all don't hear, talk to me, somebody.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Sometimes God's will will carry you through roads you don't
- 32:04Speaker 1: want to ride on, roads you didn't pick, roads you
- 32:07Speaker 1: didn't foresee, roads you didn't design, and frankly, roads you
- 32:11Speaker 1: don't like. But it's still God's will because God is
- 32:15Speaker 1: not in your life for your lacks. Oh, y'all didn't
- 32:20Speaker 1: hear me. That was so good. God is not in
- 32:23Speaker 1: your life or your locks. And Jesus, Jesus goes into
- 32:33Speaker 1: the garden of Gethsemane and says, this is how you
- 32:36Speaker 1: submit to the part you don't like. Because God will
- 32:40Speaker 1: send what you don't like to kill your flesh. You
- 32:48Speaker 1: know the cross was designed to kill the flesh. And
- 32:52Speaker 1: the flesh will always scream out when the nails go in.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And Jesus goes to the garden and prays so he
- 32:59Speaker 1: has grace for the cross. I've always thought that we
- 33:04Speaker 1: pay more attention to the cross than we do the garden.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Because the cross is only where he demonstrated the power
- 33:15Speaker 1: of the garden. You trying to deal with the cross
- 33:19Speaker 1: and you don't have no garden of prayer. I come
- 33:22Speaker 1: to the garden alone while the dew is still on
- 33:29Speaker 1: the roses. And the voice I hear falling on my ear,
- 33:37Speaker 1: the Son of God discloses. Hey! And he walks with
- 33:47Speaker 1: me and he talks with me and he tells me
- 33:52Speaker 1: I am his own and the joy we share.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Come on. As we.
- 34:04Speaker 2: None of us have ever....
- 34:09Speaker 1: I wish we sung some of that stuff again. I
- 34:12Speaker 1: wish we sent some of that stuff again that encouraged
- 34:15Speaker 1: people to come to the garden of prayer. Number four,
- 34:19Speaker 1: the pardoning of guilt and sin. He teaches us this
- 34:24Speaker 1: through prayer. When the man sick of palsy is carried
- 34:28Speaker 1: by four people and they have to climb up the wall.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Imagine carrying a man who is sick of palsy, paralyzed,
- 34:39Speaker 1: up the wall, across the roof with four people and
- 34:43Speaker 1: lower him down into the presence of Jesus. And Jesus
- 34:47Speaker 1: says to him, son, thy sins are forgiven thee. And
- 34:56Speaker 1: then they doubted that he had the right to do that.
- 35:02Speaker 1: He said, what is easier to say, son, thy sins
- 35:05Speaker 1: are forgiven thee or take up your bed and walk?
- 35:09Speaker 1: Is there a correlation between the palsy and the sin?
- 35:18Speaker 1: Because Jesus prioritized the forgiveness of sin over the pain
- 35:24Speaker 1: that brought him to Jesus?
- 35:27Speaker 2: Could the pain have caused the paralysis?
- 35:31Speaker 1: Are you carrying guilt that you can't get rid of
- 35:33Speaker 1: to the point that it's showing up in infirmities in
- 35:36Speaker 1: your body? Are you carrying too much that you're not
- 35:41Speaker 1: even designed for? Do you go to God in prayer?
- 35:45Speaker 1: Do you go to God in prayer? I don't mean
- 35:48Speaker 1: like you dial 911. I mean on a daily, continual
- 35:52Speaker 1: basis that flushes your soul of the toxicity. You're so
- 35:57Speaker 1: careful about what you eat. You're a pescatarian. I'm a vegan.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I don't eat this. I don't eat milk. You're so
- 36:04Speaker 1: careful about what you put in your body. Are you
- 36:07Speaker 1: careful about what you put in your soul? Are you
- 36:12Speaker 1: careful about what you put in your soul? You're reading
- 36:16Speaker 1: every label, you're counting fat grams, too much protein in that,
- 36:19Speaker 1: I don't do anything with caffeine, I don't do that, that, that,
- 36:22Speaker 1: shut up! You gossip, you talk to me about people,
- 36:26Speaker 1: you lie on folks, you criticize everybody, so your flesh
- 36:31Speaker 1: is going to be clean, but your spirit is filthy.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Prayer will clean out your spirit. Prayer will clean out
- 36:39Speaker 1: your heart. Prayer will change the way you treat people.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Prayer will change how you react. You can take up
- 36:46Speaker 1: your bed and walk when you get rid of your guilt.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Number five, prayer is your secret weapon. Prayer is your
- 37:04Speaker 1: secret weapon. Jesus teaches in the text that when you pray,
- 37:08Speaker 1: don't be out in the streets praying like the Pharisees.
- 37:11Speaker 1: He said, but go into your secret closet and shut
- 37:14Speaker 1: the door. And he says, the God who hears in
- 37:18Speaker 1: secret will reward you in the open. If you want
- 37:22Speaker 1: to be a public success, you got to be a
- 37:25Speaker 1: private prayer. Oh, y'all ain't gonna help me. If you're
- 37:30Speaker 1: gonna be a public success, you gotta be a private
- 37:33Speaker 1: prayer warrior. What happens on the outside is determined by
- 37:37Speaker 1: what happens on your knees. Get down on your knees
- 37:41Speaker 1: and pray. Shut your mouth and pray. Shut your fuss
- 37:45Speaker 1: and pray. Get down on your knees and seek God's face.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Prayer is your secret weapon. You got it.
- 37:55Speaker 2: It's in there.
- 37:56Speaker 1: It's somewhere down in that pocketbook. It's something down up
- 37:58Speaker 1: under that makeup. You got more makeup than prayer up,
- 38:05Speaker 1: but if you dig down in that bag deep enough,
- 38:08Speaker 1: we can hit, I know you don't have no prayer life,
- 38:10Speaker 1: because if I call you to the altar for prayer,
- 38:13Speaker 1: you pray five minutes and you get tired. That means
- 38:16Speaker 1: you have not exercised prayer to the point that you
- 38:19Speaker 1: have a real prayer life. You will dance 30 minutes,
- 38:24Speaker 1: but you won't pray five. Come on, come on, come on,
- 38:29Speaker 1: don't leave now. Stay right here, stay right here, I
- 38:32Speaker 1: got something for.
- 38:40Speaker 2: You.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Not somebody tell him I got a devil to fight.
- 38:44Speaker 1: If y'all have time to try to be the cutest
- 38:47Speaker 1: in the room, go with your fine self and your
- 38:50Speaker 1: Gucci bag, but I got a devil to fight, and
- 38:54Speaker 1: if I have to lay out on my face, if
- 38:56Speaker 1: I have to crawl on my knees, if I have
- 38:59Speaker 1: to clap.
- 39:00Speaker 2: My hands and slob up.
- 39:02Speaker 1: And say, I gotta die, I'm not gonna stop till
- 39:07Speaker 1: I break it. Somebody go into a prayer mode, a
- 39:11Speaker 1: war cry, a shout unto God, Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah,
- 39:36Speaker 1: we are living in a time right now that if
- 39:39Speaker 1: the church doesn't get back on its.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Knees, all hell is going to break loose.
- 39:43Speaker 1: It's taking over our country. It's taking over our government.
- 39:48Speaker 1: It's taking over our streets. You ain't even safe in
- 39:51Speaker 1: the grocery store.
- 39:53Speaker 2: But I heard.
- 39:54Speaker 1: God say, if my people who are called by my
- 39:58Speaker 1: name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face,
- 40:05Speaker 1: and turn from the wicked way. Then will I forgive
- 40:10Speaker 1: their sins and heal their land.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Somebody give me some prayer in this place. Uh-huh.
- 40:36Speaker 1: You won't find it in a minute. Keep on digging
- 40:38Speaker 1: down in that bag. It's somewhere down in your pocketbook.
- 40:41Speaker 1: You won't find it in a minute. Get on down
- 40:43Speaker 1: in that bag. Get on down. It's a little funny
- 40:46Speaker 1: right now, but when I get past your camouflage, somewhere
- 40:50Speaker 1: down in you is a praying spirit, a holy ghost
- 40:54Speaker 1: that's been waiting to be activated. I dare you to
- 40:59Speaker 1: activate your prayer language. Sit down, let me give you
- 41:21Speaker 1: number six, I gotta go. I felt something break. I
- 41:28Speaker 1: don't know who it's in, but a yoke just broke
- 41:31Speaker 1: in somebody's life.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Science!
- 42:04Speaker 1: Let me give you number six. He gave me six
- 42:08Speaker 1: things to give you. I want to make sure you
- 42:10Speaker 1: get them. Number six, prayer is not about church. The
- 42:19Speaker 1: Lord said the most interesting thing to me when I
- 42:21Speaker 1: was studying. He said, I want you to understand that
- 42:24Speaker 1: prayer is a part of self-care. You ever talk about
- 42:31Speaker 1: you got to get self-care. You got to get self-care.
- 42:34Speaker 1: You got to get self-care. Self-care is soul care. Prayer
- 42:43Speaker 1: is a part of self-care. If the psychologists and the
- 42:47Speaker 1: psychiatrists were here, they would tell you to journal. The
- 42:51Speaker 1: Holy Spirit says prayer is journaling with God. tell him
- 43:06Speaker 1: all about our troubles he will hear us when he
- 43:11Speaker 1: will answer or when you feel a little and you
- 43:16Speaker 1: know a little you'll find just now let us have
- 43:25Speaker 1: a little talk with Jesus we're going to tell him
- 43:28Speaker 1: all about us he will hear us.
- 43:33Speaker 2: He will have to buy when you feel and you
- 43:39Speaker 2: know you'll find out. Let us.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Have we ought to tell him he will he will
- 43:53Speaker 1: have to buy when you feel and you and you.
- 44:03Speaker 2: You know that?
- 44:14Speaker 1: See, the old folk knew how to have self-care. They
- 44:18Speaker 1: might not have gone to the spa, they might not
- 44:20Speaker 1: have got a massage, they might not have played around
- 44:23Speaker 1: the golf, they didn't have the money to do all
- 44:25Speaker 1: of that, but they would shut themselves up and say,
- 44:27Speaker 1: oh God, in the name of Jesus, Approach our throne,
- 44:33Speaker 1: cause I know you're able.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Lift this burden, Lord.
- 44:43Speaker 1: If you don't get it out, I can't take this load.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I know it's old fashioned. I know it's not contemporary.
- 44:54Speaker 1: I know it's not your style. But this old fashioned
- 44:58Speaker 1: devil you fighting right now, you gonna have to get
- 45:01Speaker 1: your grandmama's war clothes out and declare war. Anybody hear
- 45:13Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Anybody hear what I'm saying? Anybody hear
- 45:18Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Clap your hands and give me 30
- 45:21Speaker 1: seconds of praise. Do you not know that prayer will
- 45:42Speaker 1: tip the scales in your favor? Prayer will tip the
- 45:49Speaker 1: scales in your favor. Your daughter needs to see you pray.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Your son needs to see you pray. Not just when
- 45:58Speaker 1: you're in front of people. It needs to not be
- 46:01Speaker 1: strange to come in your house and hear your mama praying.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Your house should be called a house of prayer. You
- 46:09Speaker 1: gotta bring prayer back in your house. Cut off the
- 46:15Speaker 1: housewives of LA and the housewives of Atlanta and the
- 46:19Speaker 1: housewives of actors and the housewives of movie stars and
- 46:23Speaker 1: get down on your knees and start calling on Jesus.
- 46:36Speaker 1: When I say prayer will tip the scales in your favor,
- 46:39Speaker 1: we're not praying about yesterday because there's nothing that can
- 46:45Speaker 1: be done about yesterday. You got to come out of yesterday.
- 46:51Speaker 1: There's nothing nobody can do about yesterday. You don't see
- 46:56Speaker 1: anywhere in the Bible where anybody is praying about yesterday.
- 47:00Speaker 1: And yet every time you get a microphone, you crying
- 47:02Speaker 1: about yesterday. Come out of your history. Come out of
- 47:06Speaker 1: your history. It don't matter who was right. It don't
- 47:10Speaker 1: matter who was wrong. You got a devil in front
- 47:13Speaker 1: of you to fight. You can't fight the devil behind
- 47:16Speaker 1: you and have your hands free for the devil in
- 47:20Speaker 1: front of you.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Who am I talking.
- 47:28Speaker 1: To? Sit down.
- 47:29Speaker 2: I got to hurry. I'm running out.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Of time. Yeah, you can't stay if you don't pray.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I like that. I'm going to rush through this. Worry
- 47:40Speaker 1: nullifies prayer. So over and over, Jesus says, do not worry.
- 47:46Speaker 1: It's not a request. It's a command. Do not worry.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Worry nullifies prayer. You can pray real good, but if
- 47:52Speaker 1: you worry better than you pray, you nullified what you
- 47:55Speaker 1: prayed for. Worry nullifies prayer. It cancels out prayer. Worry
- 48:01Speaker 1: is to have faith in the negative things. Worry is
- 48:06Speaker 1: faith turned inside out. Worry is responding to the negative
- 48:11Speaker 1: voice louder than you do the positive. Your thought life
- 48:16Speaker 1: is infected by worry. You can't make sound decisions when
- 48:21Speaker 1: you're worrying. Anxiety is literally worrying about tomorrow. Worrying about
- 48:28Speaker 1: something that hadn't even happened yet. Where are we going
- 48:29Speaker 1: to stay? What are we going to do? What did
- 48:30Speaker 1: that happen? You want to know everything you control, freak.
- 48:41Speaker 1: You profess to walk by faith and not by sight,
- 48:43Speaker 1: and yet you want to know everything about something that
- 48:46Speaker 1: hadn't even happened yet? You're making yourself anxious. You're making
- 48:51Speaker 1: yourself sick. You're making yourself hard to live with. Because
- 48:56Speaker 1: you think everybody has to report to your office. God
- 49:00Speaker 1: is not going to report to your office. He's not
- 49:03Speaker 1: going to give you details. You're just going to have
- 49:04Speaker 1: to walk out there to a place I will show you,
- 49:08Speaker 1: and when you get there, I'm going to show it
- 49:09Speaker 1: to you, and you got to walk by faith, and
- 49:12Speaker 1: God knows you don't like it, and God knows you
- 49:15Speaker 1: ain't good at it, but you gotta get good at it.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Dig down in your pocketbook and get your weapons out
- 49:21Speaker 1: because one of those weapons is resisting the temptation to
- 49:25Speaker 1: worry about tomorrow because tomorrow belongs, say it again.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Tomorrow belongs to God. Say it again.
- 49:40Speaker 1: The thief is on the cross and he's dying and
- 49:42Speaker 1: he's nailed to the tree and he's getting ready to go.
- 49:45Speaker 1: And all he asked God to do is remember me
- 49:48Speaker 1: when you get to the kingdom. Just remember me. He
- 49:51Speaker 1: didn't ask him to save me. He just said, just
- 49:54Speaker 1: remember me. Just remember me when you get to the kingdom.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Tomorrow belongs to God. I'm going to share one more
- 50:01Speaker 1: quick scripture and then I'm going to move on. Take
- 50:03Speaker 1: me to Jezebel. Take me to Jezebel and I'm out.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Take me to, yeah. First Kings 19, one through eight.
- 50:10Speaker 1: And get this get this and I'm out. I just
- 50:12Speaker 1: in fact, I don't even have to go to 80
- 50:14Speaker 1: I think I can go to three and get it
- 50:15Speaker 1: now a have told Jezebel Everything Elijah had done and
- 50:19Speaker 1: how he had killed all the prophets with.
- 50:21Speaker 2: The sword.
- 50:23Speaker 1: So Jezebel sent a messenger so Jezebel sent a messenger
- 50:28Speaker 1: to to Elijah. Jezebel sent a worrying messenger to Elijah.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Jezebel sent the spirit of worry to Elijah. It would
- 50:38Speaker 1: only work if she threatened him. She didn't kill him.
- 50:45Speaker 1: She just threatened him. Isn't it funny how there will
- 50:51Speaker 1: always be somebody to bring you back news to worry you?
- 50:57Speaker 1: Listen to what I'm saying. Jezebel didn't kill him. She
- 51:02Speaker 1: sent a messenger to threaten him. What is threatening you? What?
- 51:12Speaker 1: I'm asking you a question. What is threatening you? Jezebel
- 51:17Speaker 1: sent that message. idolatrous Jezebel, prophet killing Jezebel, praise killing Jezebel,
- 51:29Speaker 1: faith killing Jezebel, comfort killing Jezebel, confidence disrupting Jezebel will
- 51:36Speaker 1: always send you a message. And this is the message.
- 51:41Speaker 1: May the gods deal with me. be it ever so severely,
- 51:45Speaker 1: if by this time tomorrow I do not make your
- 51:50Speaker 1: life like one of them other prophets I killed. Elijah
- 51:55Speaker 1: was afraid and ran for his life. Elijah who didn't
- 52:01Speaker 1: run from nothing ran from worry. When he came to
- 52:08Speaker 1: Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there. Because sometimes
- 52:12Speaker 1: like Jesus in Gethsemane, you can't take nobody with you.
- 52:16Speaker 1: While he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness,
- 52:19Speaker 1: he came to a broom bush. The King James says
- 52:23Speaker 1: a juniper tree. Sat down under it and prayed that
- 52:27Speaker 1: he might die. I want to speak to every person
- 52:31Speaker 1: who's trapped and so worried that you want to die.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Tomorrow belongs to God. No, no, no.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Get this.
- 52:46Speaker 1: You're worried to death or in pain about yesterday. Yesterday
- 52:50Speaker 1: is trying to get you to kill tomorrow. And you
- 52:54Speaker 1: don't know what a day will bring. She said, if
- 52:58Speaker 1: I don't take you out in the next 24 hours,
- 53:02Speaker 1: may the gods deal with me. I'm going to kill
- 53:05Speaker 1: you just like I killed the others. And he started
- 53:07Speaker 1: running and got up under the tree and said, if
- 53:10Speaker 1: I'm going to die, God, I want you to take me.
- 53:14Speaker 1: He said, I have had enough, Lord. I want an
- 53:19Speaker 1: honest answer. How many people have said to God, I
- 53:23Speaker 1: have had enough? Elijah came to God and said, I
- 53:32Speaker 1: have had enough. Now he is a day's journey in
- 53:38Speaker 1: his travels and doesn't notice that that Jezebel is a liar,
- 53:45Speaker 1: for him to be alive to complain is a miracle,
- 53:49Speaker 1: cause she said tomorrow, She said, by this time tomorrow,
- 54:00Speaker 1: I will take your life. And he ought to be
- 54:02Speaker 1: shouting up under the juniper tree because 24 hours later,
- 54:06Speaker 1: he's still alive. Let me tell you, some of you
- 54:09Speaker 1: are worried about stuff you ought to be shouting about
- 54:12Speaker 1: because if the devil had his way, he would have
- 54:15Speaker 1: took you out by now. But because tomorrow belongs to God,
- 54:21Speaker 1: I want somebody who's living in a miracle, who's standing
- 54:25Speaker 1: in faith to give God.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Some glory right now.
- 54:45Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no. I want somebody that the
- 54:48Speaker 1: enemy tried to take out and threatened you all your
- 54:52Speaker 1: life and said by this time tomorrow, I'm gonna destroy
- 54:58Speaker 1: you and you are still alive to get out from
- 55:02Speaker 1: under that cute stuff and praise God like you're grateful.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Tell your neighbor, all three of them, tomorrow belongs to God.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Tomorrow belongs to God. Tomorrow belongs to God. If it
- 55:36Speaker 1: didn't belong to God, I'd be dead. If it didn't
- 55:39Speaker 1: belong to God, I'd have a nervous breakdown. If it
- 55:42Speaker 1: didn't belong to God, I'd lose my mind. If it
- 55:45Speaker 1: didn't belong to God, I'd throw in the towel. If
- 55:48Speaker 1: it didn't belong to God, I'd blow my brains out.
- 55:51Speaker 1: But tomorrow belongs to God. Hallelujah.
- 56:06Speaker 2: Hallelujah.
- 56:08Speaker 1: You're walking in yesterday's tomorrow. Nothing you went through took
- 56:12Speaker 1: you out. If you survived yesterday, you can survive today.
- 56:18Speaker 1: And if you survive today, you can make it to tomorrow.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Hell is lying. Jezebel is a liar. The doctor is
- 56:29Speaker 1: a liar. The disease is a liar. The IRS is
- 56:34Speaker 1: a liar. Tomorrow belongs to God. I wish I had
- 56:40Speaker 1: a praiser somewhere in this house that could praise God
- 56:46Speaker 1: for tomorrow. Praise God for tomorrow. Praise God for tomorrow.
- 56:54Speaker 1: I haven't stepped in it yet, but I'm praising you by.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Faith for tomorrow.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Thank you. Touch me people, tell them I'm praising God
- 57:52Speaker 1: because Jezebel was wrong. I'm praising God because Jezebel was wrong.
- 57:59Speaker 1: I'm praising God because Jezebel was wrong. And when you
- 58:03Speaker 1: get to the third one, praise him like you lost
- 58:07Speaker 1: your mind.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Praise him like you lost your mind.
- 58:25Speaker 1: Said the bell was rung said the bell was rung
- 58:31Speaker 1: said the bell was rung I don't understand it. I
- 59:07Speaker 1: know there are people in this room that survived cancer,
- 59:11Speaker 1: had heart attacks, had disruptions, been through hell, like to die,
- 59:19Speaker 1: and you're still here, and you're standing around looking at
- 59:22Speaker 1: people with your teeth in your mouth. You ought to
- 59:26Speaker 1: praise God that Jezebel was wrong. Put it on the screen.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Put it on the big screen.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Let everybody see it. Jezebel was wrong. Jezebel was wrong.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I'm still here. I'm still here. I don't have all
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: the answers. I cannot see tomorrow. But one thing I
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: do know, Jezebel was wrong.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Jezebel, you're lying.
