• Jacob Bunce: All right, welcome back to Fader Follow. ⁓ we got a nice jam-packed schedule for you today. We are going to do a quick recap of last week's picks. Ultimately in the green, could have done better. ⁓ hand up, made some some bad picks too. ⁓ but ultimately made money, so that's all that we give a fuck about. ⁓ and then we're gonna run through four games today. I mean, last week was crazy. So we're gonna cover ⁓ Bama and Mississippi State, Florida, Missoo, Ohio State, Iowa, and then ⁓ Washington and USC. ⁓ or wait, no, not Washington, USC. So like he literally like and then it happened again on Sunday and they called him Drake Ma and then they called him Drake Mateer. I'm like, what are we doing? Like it was just the worst th that ⁓ man, I don't know. Last week so that game just horrible wager. I just I was sick like I was out and about. walking with my had some colleagues in town and I it was I was sick watching those highlights as I was at lunch 'cause that was just the worst wager the the entire eon. So ⁓ but overall positive week and that's what we care about around here. So we move on to this week and ⁓ I think the I think the c I think the card played well. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. I just think back to that horrible that first fumble that he had, ⁓ when it was like he I don't know if he was trying to throw or he wasn't throwing or like if the ball yeah, or if he was eating popcorn before, but it was s atrocious. ⁓ so yeah, I will never, ever, ever put money on on Mateer as long as I live again. I mean, I think, you know, obviously Mississippi State is a very hot team right now. They're four and ⁓ they're ranked. Camario Taylor has just been unbelievable. That was an electric sweat last week. ⁓ and Starkville, I think, is gonna be an absolute zoo. ⁓ Fade or Follow: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jacob Bunce: But I think this is like a get right game for Bama too. I think this is where they they remind everybody who who they are. you know, again, I'm I'm not saying Taylor doesn't deserve all the respect in in the world. I mean, he's he's thrown for almost twelve hundred yards, he has fourteen touchdowns, ⁓ two interceptions, he's completing almost seventy percent of of his of his passes, and they're putting up like forty three points a game. ⁓ So this isn't me fading or Grant fading like a a garbage team or a team that we think has been playing garbage games because like they haven't been. They've been playing good teams and they've they've looked very good. ⁓ but I think Bama's offense is just a tad bit better. ⁓ and I think, you know, it's gonna come down to defense as well. I'm not saying Bama's defense is the best in the world, but you know, these stages are typically when Alabama starts to rise to the top. So Fade or Follow: No. Yeah. Jacob Bunce: You know, if they lose this game outright, I think then we kinda reevaluate and we've already been reevaluating who Alabama is as a team. ⁓ but I think we really have to start to reevaluate like, okay, they are just not the same powerhouse, but I I don't think that's that's now. Fade or Follow: Yeah. Right. No, I totally agree. I think like you said, K Keelan Russell, Kamario Taylor, this quarterback matchup is gonna be absolute cinema, like top to bottom. These both of these guys are just playing absolutely up excuse me, absolutely out of their mind right now. So I think it's gonna be a great game regardless like and I think like you said, like this is you like this is a game where you kind of really see who's like Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Fade or Follow: the pr like who are the leaders in the SEC and like I think Alabama still has the horses to kind of reestablish themselves. Like, you know, we are still here. Mississippi State is still Miss I'm I've been loving this Mississippi State team to be totally clear. I've been betting on them almost every single week. And they is re yeah, no, they're na yeah, yeah, they're good. And they're they're and Jacob Bunce: Yeah. They're four or no against the spread right now, Grant. Like it's it Bama's three and one though too, so it's not like, you know, they haven't been doing job, but yeah, I mean, this is kinda like a sell high point a little bit. Fade or Follow: Yeah. I've been and I think like you said, I it got this game kinda comes down to which defense can kinda make more plays and I still think Mississippi State's defense is rather suspect. Fade or Follow: Yeah, so I think ⁓ Bama's defense can establish themselves here and Bama's offense can take control and I think they cover the five and a half in this spot. I think this is gonna be an absolute great game, regardless. I will be watching as much as I can. I think this i this game's gonna be and it this gonna be so much cowbell in that game you're not gonna be able to hear. So ⁓ it's gonna be Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Yeah, so this one, yeah, like Iowa obviously coming off that massive win last week at Michigan. really, really electric game for them. Like I think that that was the that's the biggest win I've seen Iowa have, like outside of like the Ohio's ⁓ Iowa, Iowa State game in I don't know how long. So Matt like kudos to them. and I think they're probably riding the on the highest level that they've ridden in a long, long time. Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Fade or Follow: ⁓ their offense is feeling good. They're scoring points. ⁓ and then you got Ohio State coming off a four touchdown performance by Jeremiah Smith against Illinois, which is just absolute absolutely disgust like what what we what are we doing, bro? Like Illinois defense I've ill there's g there's a there's getting a secondary getting cooked and then Jacob Bunce: Disgusting. Yeah. Fade or Follow: There is what Jeremiah Smith did to Illinois last week. I don't know if you saw some of the highlights. He literally was just running zigzags around these corners and into the end zone. It was that was it was some of the it Jacob Bunce: And I think I think he's one or two touchdowns away from breaking Olave's record, so he's he wants it. Fade or Follow: Yeah, no. Yeah, he's coming if he wants the Heisman, he wants it all, and he is probably gonna get it unless something catastrophic happens. But it's like I ho a knock on wood, I really hope it does. And I I I love watching him play and he's he's he's amazing. ⁓ so but yeah, the Ohio State's offense continues to be electric. and they and it the thing is like it doesn't even have to just be Jeremiah Smith. It it it usually is. But it some like they've got both they got two good running backs right now. They still got Innis. They got ⁓ the new the freshman coming in still Chris Henry, yes. So they they still have weapons all over the place, but so this offense is still just absolutely loaded and like Iowa's defense is getting a lot of love right now. But if you look at a who it's been against, it really hasn't been against anyone. So in in this spot I Jacob Bunce: ⁓ Chris Henry. Fade or Follow: Like thirteen and a half seems like is a is an enticing number, but I think ⁓ the way I was offense has looked and the way ten like Illinois like the way Ohio State's defense kinda looked against Illinois. The Illino Iowa Ohio State was my thirty point favorites last week and they didn't come close to covering. and I th so I think we're gonna lean into their offense this week and just take their team total thirty and a half. Jacob Bunce: Yeah, yeah. I mean, just to kind of reiterate, like I'm not disrespecting Iowa's defense by any means. You know, I think it it deserves respect. And yeah, that game last week was electric. ⁓ I I told Grant, I was like, I literally had twenty bucks queued up in Iowa ⁓ or excuse me, yeah, Iowa money line. I might have splooched all over my my ceiling. but yeah, I mean, like, look, like Iowa has been also very good in the red zone. You know, opponents have scored touchdowns, I think, just on two of seven possessions. But, you know, they're playing they played Michigan. They played ⁓ you know, s northern Illinois, you know, and and and now they're gonna play, you know, one of the top ranked teams in the country. And it's gonna put their their defense to the test. I mean, I'm also curious to see too, Grant, like how Ohio State's run game. Fade or Follow: Northern Illinois. Jacob Bunce: is this this week. I mean, it it looked good last week, but you know, again, you're playing Illinois. ⁓ it was it was decent against Texas, which, you know, is a testament. But, you know, one thing that I feel their offense has been lacking is those explosive run plays. I mean, you know, you have Bo Jackson who is just having a tough time breaking, you know, a tackle from one guy. You have Jacoby Jackson who fucking sold my parlay last week. I had a little off screen parlay and I just needed Fade or Follow: Yeah. Yeah. Jacob Bunce: Bo Jackson and get a touchdown, and then I saw Jackson scored, and then they said Jacoby, and ⁓ was very sad. but yeah, I I think this is just your classic. Like the public's gonna be on Iowa, it's gonna be on the points, you know, it's at Iowa, and then hopefully, you know, Ohio State just comes in and reminds them who the fuck they are. You know, Chambliss is amazing, blah, blah, blah. And then they get dogged 52 to 28. Now you're playing Missouri and they're only five and a half point favorites. And Missouri's a good team, don't get me wrong. But I just don't want to overreact to what I watched last Saturday. ⁓ Florida might Fade or Follow: Yes. Jacob Bunce: absolutely be better than Missouri, but you know, I think they that doesn't mean they should automatically be laying five and a half in in Columbia because, you know, again, they hung 52 in in oldness. So ⁓ give us Missouri plus five and a half. You know, their defense has been I know it is it is the everything around us is burning. But I will say this I mean Missouri's defense is pretty Fade or Follow: Yeah. Right. Crazy I'm so scared right now. Pr pretty good. Jacob Bunce: Pretty good. ⁓ I think they're, you know, allowing just under twenty one points per game. ⁓ and the Tigers are two and ⁓ at home, which is which is great. So, you know, Florida might win, fine, but I think they win if they do, it's by a field goal. ⁓ maybe even four points, like a thirty one twenty seven type vibe. I think like last week in hindsight, Florida was the like nuclear whale, like lo better your life, sort of like like the everything was scream in Florida and for once everything that made like everything that should have happened happened and ⁓ so that was a really good like I really I was really satisfied watching that one come home because that one felt like yeah, we had that we had that read right and that was good. and I think like and I think right now that was like right now Florida's stock is at an absolute all time high coming off that old miss when everyone's absolutely loving Florida right now. And I I think like when you get to a point where the s when a a when a team or an asset is so overheated and Jacob Bunce: Yeah, yeah. Fade or Follow: like so just inflated on a price, you just gotta kinda gotta sell it at a certain level and I think this is kind of ⁓ this is kind of that spot before. I still think I still love what John Summerall's doing and I I like their team a lot. I just think right now the you've got to like you can't you gotta pump the brakes on Florida just a tad bit this week. I don't think they just continue to absolutely dog these teams, especially at home. Like go Misso's a tough place to play for a lot of teams. Like Alabama's had tough time playing there in recent years. Like there's like ⁓ Florida's had and also Florida's had a tough time playing there too. Historically I don't have the exact sp game line the game scores looking off ⁓ off the top of my head. But I was looking at it like they've had really tough games going into Missouri in the in the in the recent years as Missouri's coming to the SEC. ⁓ so I think yeah, I think you get to getting five and a half points here is really ⁓ Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Fade or Follow: is a is a really interesting line and I think it's ⁓ I think we're gonna lean into it a little bit and like Bunt said, I think Florida still pulls this off just 'cause they have a great run game with two dynamic backs and Philo's been awesome, but I think the ⁓ I think you can get a the Missouri's defense is gonna hold them and check just enough to keep it within keep within six and ⁓ I think a game winning field goal does seem to make a lot of sense here.
