- 1:21Speaker 5: you see the update on that? It was Bronk's friend
- 1:23Speaker 5: from all.
- 1:24Speaker 6: Oh yeah, that's old new excuse me, Joshua Turner's fall.
- 1:28Speaker 6: Oh look at this? Look at this?

- 2:07Speaker 6: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 2:11Speaker 6: at Jiles Stadium, and boy, that was some game that
- 2:16Speaker 6: we saw. They almost pulled it out, but we saw
- 2:20Speaker 6: the good and the bad of Drake May, and to
- 2:23Speaker 6: me great I am all for the mistakes, believe it
- 2:27Speaker 6: or not. This is why I made the case early
- 2:31Speaker 6: on that he should start from day one, because let's
- 2:34Speaker 6: make his mistakes, let's get him out of the way,
- 2:37Speaker 6: let's learn. I am not upset with it, although you know,
- 2:40Speaker 6: I would have liked to win the game. But I'm
- 2:43Speaker 6: all for it. I'm all for it. So I consider
- 2:47Speaker 6: Sunday's another step in the progress of Drake May becoming
- 2:51Speaker 6: an NFL quarterback. And I'm happy with what I saw.
- 2:56Speaker 4: So that's it, you right, you can see it on
- 3:01Speaker 4: my face. I hate that. I hate that that I
- 3:03Speaker 4: agree with him. I hate that I can't.
- 3:04Speaker 7: Argue, Yeah, I can't argue either. I mean, looky, the
- 3:09Speaker 7: one thing that I come back to is that you
- 3:12Speaker 7: have to be aware of the guy you drafted and
- 3:15Speaker 7: the skill set of the player that you drafted. And
- 3:19Speaker 7: this is not a game manager conservative quarterback. This is
- 3:24Speaker 7: a play making player at the position. And with that,
- 3:28Speaker 7: just like it did for Josh Allen and just like
- 3:30Speaker 7: it did for many others in that mold, turnovers and
- 3:35Speaker 7: bad plays come with.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Yep, the descript play is never over until it's over.
- 3:40Speaker 7: Right, And that's the positive. I mean the Obviously, the
- 3:43Speaker 7: last throw to Remandra Stevenson is sort of the microcosm
- 3:47Speaker 7: of that entire thing. But there's other plays within the game.
- 3:50Speaker 7: There's the ninety five rushing yards in the game, Like,
- 3:52Speaker 7: those are all the value ads that he brings to
- 3:56Speaker 7: the table.
- 3:57Speaker 4: But he also does lead the.
- 3:58Speaker 7: League and turnover worthy play rate, and he takes a
- 4:01Speaker 7: lot of sacks, and you know, those are things that
- 4:03Speaker 7: they're going to have to work out over the course
- 4:05Speaker 7: of time.
- 4:05Speaker 6: Yeah, and better to work it out in a game
- 4:08Speaker 6: than in the virtual reality room.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I couldn't agree more with Freddy. Mike and I talked
- 4:12Speaker 4: about it a lot in the post game with Matt
- 4:15Speaker 4: And yeah, I'm like, if this game took place in
- 4:19Speaker 4: twenty twenty six, I'm not talking about it the same way, right,
- 4:24Speaker 4: But it's his fourth career, so yeah, I'm not like
- 4:27Speaker 4: closing my eyes to all the bad plays that he made.
- 4:30Speaker 6: Right, No, Well, and we'll talk about those two.
- 4:32Speaker 4: But I think that Fred's point about this is why
- 4:34Speaker 4: you want to play him, So maybe you have an
- 4:37Speaker 4: opportunity that this time next year those plays are out
- 4:41Speaker 4: of him.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Right.
- 4:41Speaker 4: He understands when he, you know, is maybe the pocket's
- 4:45Speaker 4: breaking down. I need to have a little pocket awareness
- 4:48Speaker 4: and protect the ball better, or you know, maybe when
- 4:51Speaker 4: that safety is going to be able to make up
- 4:53Speaker 4: some ground when it looks like I'm you know, single
- 4:56Speaker 4: you know, single coverage down the field, stuff like that.
- 5:00Speaker 4: There's gonna be mistakes that just happened. But you know,
- 5:03Speaker 4: like the fumble to me in particular, really that's the
- 5:06Speaker 4: worst one. That was a bad play. I don't know
- 5:09Speaker 4: if it was the worst one. The first pick was
- 5:11Speaker 4: pretty bad, but just the lack of awareness in the
- 5:14Speaker 4: pocket to me bothered me. But it's so outweighed by
- 5:17Speaker 4: all the plays that you see, and just think about
- 5:22Speaker 4: the guy made his fourth career start. It's a very
- 5:25Speaker 4: conservative offensive system in general, but by design it's supposed
- 5:29Speaker 4: to be kind of a conservative and in reality, they
- 5:32Speaker 4: they attempted fifty three passes and twelve runs in this game,
- 5:37Speaker 4: Like when you take out like I all eight of
- 5:40Speaker 4: the Drake may scrambles were all not by design they're
- 5:43Speaker 4: supposed to those are passes. Four sacks, those are supposed
- 5:46Speaker 4: to be passes. They attempted twelve conventional runs. The rest
- 5:52Speaker 4: were passes. Fourth game that he ever played, So like
- 5:58Speaker 4: I'm going back to nukle loosh, we get some serious
- 6:01Speaker 4: bleep here, Like there's some serious ability that they need to.
- 6:05Speaker 5: I know, I just I do feel bad that it
- 6:07Speaker 5: just makes me mad at the rest of the team
- 6:08Speaker 5: for not stepping up and helping them a little more. Sorry,
- 6:13Speaker 5: I like it, I just I mean, I'm frustrated.
- 6:15Speaker 4: That's frustrated that we're mad.
- 6:17Speaker 5: We're talking about the same stuff every week, and I
- 6:19Speaker 5: echo everything you guys said about Drake and that's you know,
- 6:21Speaker 5: really exciting. And it's certainly different than the last few
- 6:24Speaker 5: years than what we've seen where like I feel like
- 6:26Speaker 5: I've gotten into a mode with the previous quarterbacks that
- 6:28Speaker 5: you get down, it's over, you know, like you get
- 6:31Speaker 5: ten points is about all you can bear to spare
- 6:33Speaker 5: the other team. But I just I'm sick of talking
- 6:36Speaker 5: about the same lack of a run offense and the
- 6:38Speaker 5: defense not being able to make Kate plays. And you know,
- 6:41Speaker 5: it's just Drake. It seems like he's willing the team
- 6:44Speaker 5: to get what they got in this game. And I
- 6:47Speaker 5: just like to see that from some of the other players.
- 6:48Speaker 5: I don't see the other players leaving it on the
- 6:51Speaker 5: field like I saw him kind of leave it on
- 6:52Speaker 5: the field in his fourth start, you know, and that's
- 6:54Speaker 5: just as you I mean, the afterglow of watching him
- 6:57Speaker 5: do what he did and then they lose the game,
- 6:59Speaker 5: and that's you know, the first.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Like, ah god, we were so close.
- 7:01Speaker 6: And keep that, keep that feeling, and I hope that
- 7:04Speaker 6: the coaches and the personnel people feel the same way.
- 7:07Speaker 6: It's Deuce, it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Matt
- 7:09Speaker 6: and Nabooth. That was our preamble. But just to play
- 7:13Speaker 6: off what you say, you're you're you know, you're not
- 7:16Speaker 6: happy with the way the rest of the team is
- 7:18Speaker 6: stepping up. You know, you may finish the season feeling
- 7:21Speaker 6: the same way. I don't know if there's any answer
- 7:24Speaker 6: to that right now, and with the trade deadline coming
- 7:27Speaker 6: in less than four hours, I don't think we're going
- 7:29Speaker 6: to get any answers from that either, So we might
- 7:32Speaker 6: have to just deal with that for the rest of
- 7:35Speaker 6: the season. But yeah, you know, now you've got Drake,
- 7:39Speaker 6: you well, at least you think that you have the guy,
- 7:44Speaker 6: all the more incentive to do what's right around him. Sure, right,
- 7:48Speaker 6: all the more incentive to Jesus, put put extra hours
- 7:52Speaker 6: into the draft prep, spend a little extra more, a
- 7:55Speaker 6: lot more money in free agency, and and you know,
- 7:59Speaker 6: turn over every rock to make sure you find the
- 8:01Speaker 6: right fits for this team, you know, because you've got
- 8:05Speaker 6: something here and you do not want to waste it.
- 8:08Speaker 5: No, And I think he can. He can, you know,
- 8:10Speaker 5: supercharge a lot of those elements that you talk about,
- 8:13Speaker 5: And they might not be on the roster right now,
- 8:14Speaker 5: but I think we all agree that a wide receiver
- 8:17Speaker 5: who can get down the field and catch the ball
- 8:19Speaker 5: like that's going to be a nice element to put
- 8:21Speaker 5: into this offense at some point. You hope that can
- 8:24Speaker 5: really take advantage of what this kid can do. And
- 8:26Speaker 5: what this team absolutely needs. And I think the unknown
- 8:29Speaker 5: is how does the.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Rest play out?
- 8:31Speaker 5: As all right, you do put some key pieces in
- 8:33Speaker 5: place around him, only a few, Like you know, Paul,
- 8:36Speaker 5: you've said at a hundred times that once you get the quarterback,
- 8:38Speaker 5: it can happen pretty quick. I think I'm a little bit,
- 8:41Speaker 5: you know, And this is just within the moment. I
- 8:43Speaker 5: don't overall feel like, God, they're so far away, Like
- 8:45Speaker 5: I think that if you get some pieces, the rest
- 8:47Speaker 5: of it will look better. But at the same time,
- 8:49Speaker 5: in this particular moment, I'm like, God, it seems like
- 8:52Speaker 5: they're so far away, Like why can't these guys rally
- 8:54Speaker 5: around this kid and really start to you know, from
- 8:57Speaker 5: their identity around So.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Let me ask you a question right now, are you
- 9:01Speaker 6: more confident that they can get this defense up to
- 9:03Speaker 6: speed for next year or the offense offense? Right? Doesn't
- 9:07Speaker 6: it seem right now like the defense is the bigger task.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Well, just everything's been flipped on its head. Fred.
- 9:12Speaker 5: That's what's so weird is like I feel like the
- 9:15Speaker 5: last three years we've spent like kind of wondering just
- 9:17Speaker 5: if we just had a quarterback. I mean, I know,
- 9:19Speaker 5: there's more to it than that. And you know, we've
- 9:20Speaker 5: talked about offensive line and number ones and all that
- 9:23Speaker 5: kind of stuff, But I think we came into the
- 9:24Speaker 5: season granted different personnel at first, that they can compete
- 9:28Speaker 5: with this team like this. You know, these guys are
- 9:30Speaker 5: are good enough, and they've had some injuries, and I
- 9:33Speaker 5: think the other disappointing part of it is just you
- 9:36Speaker 5: don't have to have all the talent in the world
- 9:38Speaker 5: to be better than one of the bottom feeders in
- 9:40Speaker 5: the NFL. I just think that even if you're the
- 9:42Speaker 5: least talented team in the league, if you've got the
- 9:44Speaker 5: right ingredients and the and the coaching staff is preaching
- 9:47Speaker 5: the right things, that those teams can be I'm not
- 9:49Speaker 5: saying they can be better than twenty fifth, but I
- 9:52Speaker 5: just that's what's disappointing right now, is like you're at
- 9:54Speaker 5: the bottom of the barrel. Right now, you're the number
- 9:56Speaker 5: one pick again, you know, and you don't feel great
- 9:58Speaker 5: about anything on defense, and that's it's troubling, and how
- 10:02Speaker 5: did it happen so quick? Now here we are we
- 10:03Speaker 5: have a quarterback and we kind of feel like that's it.
- 10:06Speaker 7: Well, you feel great and you feel bad at the
- 10:07Speaker 7: same time, like that's like it's hard to it feels
- 10:10Speaker 7: like the team is moving in the wrong direction, but
- 10:13Speaker 7: Drake is moving in the right direction. And the positive
- 10:15Speaker 7: is that it hasn't it hasn't seeped into him yet, right,
- 10:18Speaker 7: So if you can avoid that, right, then I guess
- 10:22Speaker 7: I think the defense the one thing that we have
- 10:23Speaker 7: hoped for is in he teasing it that Christian Barmore
- 10:27Speaker 7: is going to come back, whether it's this year or
- 10:30Speaker 7: next year. Juwan Bentley is going to come back next
- 10:33Speaker 7: year for him, and you get those two guys back
- 10:36Speaker 7: in the middle. You get Kyle Duggar, who didn't play
- 10:39Speaker 7: for the second consecutive game, back at safety, and you
- 10:42Speaker 7: hope that, you know, some of those guys coming back
- 10:44Speaker 7: at this defense at least a little bit better.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Well, Mike, you said, you know, how did this collapse
- 10:48Speaker 6: of the defense happen so quickly? Maybe it wasn't really
- 10:51Speaker 6: that quickly. Maybe we got a lot of false hope
- 10:55Speaker 6: last year because as Paul said, they played a lot
- 10:58Speaker 6: of backup quarterbacks and kept the score low. And then
- 11:01Speaker 6: this year you add that you know, they're very thin,
- 11:05Speaker 6: you know in the talent department. When it came to
- 11:08Speaker 6: defense that when you had whatever talent you did have
- 11:12Speaker 6: got hurt. This is what happens.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys will make fun of me for this,
- 11:15Speaker 5: and that's okay. I'm ectually take it. But between Peppers
- 11:19Speaker 5: and jude On, I just I feel like this defense
- 11:21Speaker 5: kind of had their heart ripped out this preseason. The
- 11:24Speaker 5: guys that there were emotional leaders, the guys that you
- 11:27Speaker 5: look to to, you know, bring everybody together to set
- 11:30Speaker 5: the tone, and I just kind of feel like you're
- 11:32Speaker 5: left with a bunch of quiet, second level guys who
- 11:36Speaker 5: no one ever really has had to step up and
- 11:38Speaker 5: be the you know, the vocal, commanding presence. And you
- 11:41Speaker 5: know you had that with jude On a little bit,
- 11:42Speaker 5: you had it certainly with Peppers. I don't want to
- 11:44Speaker 5: overstate what they meant to the team overall, but those
- 11:47Speaker 5: guys were the emotional leaders. I think about the Philadelphia
- 11:50Speaker 5: joint practices and you know, Jabrill Peppers being miked up
- 11:53Speaker 5: and the energy he's bringing in chirping it guys. And
- 11:56Speaker 5: you know, I like Kyle Douglas, a player that's not him.
- 11:59Speaker 5: He's a quiet guy. He's gonna go out there and
- 12:00Speaker 5: do what he does and you know, come off the field.
- 12:03Speaker 6: I just that to me, he's not playing either, and
- 12:05Speaker 6: he's not playing either.
- 12:06Speaker 4: By flax, you know that that kind of passion, I
- 12:10Speaker 4: mean energy, who's a quiet yeah guy.
- 12:13Speaker 7: I mean like, look, Bentley is one of those type
- 12:15Speaker 7: of guys too, to the point where he has to
- 12:17Speaker 7: address the team even now and he's not even playing
- 12:20Speaker 7: because they're missing you know that exact sort of thing,
- 12:23Speaker 7: like he's like breaking down huddles and stuff like that
- 12:25Speaker 7: pregame because they have nobody else to do.
- 12:28Speaker 6: It in an army.
- 12:29Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly, And it's a great point. I mean, I
- 12:31Speaker 7: think David Andrews is similar on the offensive side of
- 12:34Speaker 7: the ball too, Maybe not as boisterous and like loud,
- 12:38Speaker 7: but he's that kind of circle the wagon type of
- 12:40Speaker 7: leader that they were counting on that that isn't there.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Yeah, Freddie, I liked your your question about what what
- 12:47Speaker 4: is you know harder to fix right now? What do
- 12:50Speaker 4: you have more confidence in moving forward? Now? You guys
- 12:53Speaker 4: picked you have more confidence in the offense just because
- 12:56Speaker 4: of May And that makes it easier for because I
- 13:00Speaker 4: think that both sides, I mean, you can make an
- 13:02Speaker 4: argument right now, both sides of the ball have one
- 13:05Speaker 4: guy you feel good about, you know, probably May and Gonzales. Okay,
- 13:10Speaker 4: so right, yeah, but you're saying the quarterback makes it
- 13:13Speaker 4: easier to get the pieces around him because he's going
- 13:15Speaker 4: to lift those guys. Well, I mean, I'm not I'm
- 13:17Speaker 4: not arguing. I'm just kind of listening to one.
- 13:19Speaker 6: Of your shows yesterday and I think it was The
- 13:22Speaker 6: Beatle in the Zoo, and you know, Beatle was like,
- 13:25Speaker 6: you know they need five new offensive linemen. They really don't,
- 13:29Speaker 6: you know, like if you get more if you get
- 13:32Speaker 6: a tackle, if you get a good tackle, and maybe
- 13:34Speaker 6: one more good interior. I'm not saying great good interior
- 13:39Speaker 6: lineman assuming Andrews comes back, and when you the line
- 13:43Speaker 6: will before the.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Andrews comes back. It's a year like they need probably
- 13:47Speaker 4: four starting caliber offensive lineman, Like if you feel good
- 13:51Speaker 4: about a Winnu Yeah, yeah, and I think there's probably
- 13:55Speaker 4: questions about even then. But based on this season.
- 13:57Speaker 6: You know, when you say that, I say they need
- 14:01Speaker 6: one really good tackle and and the rest and three
- 14:05Speaker 6: more guys that can just like Kansas City has, you know,
- 14:07Speaker 6: elite interior guys and two jag tackles. Right, you don't
- 14:11Speaker 6: need five guys that are Pro bowlers. No, in the NFL,
- 14:15Speaker 6: you really don't.
- 14:16Speaker 4: But but you're but you're you're calling the tackle that
- 14:20Speaker 4: they don't have now elite.
- 14:22Speaker 6: I'm talking better than average.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Yeah, well that's a big that's a big jump from
- 14:26Speaker 4: what they have.
- 14:27Speaker 6: But don't you think if they focus on that, they
- 14:29Speaker 6: can find one.
- 14:31Speaker 4: I mean, I think a lot of teams focus on
- 14:33Speaker 4: that in the draft, and I think it's probably like
- 14:35Speaker 4: a fifty to fifty proposition.
- 14:37Speaker 6: I think they could have gotten them this year if
- 14:39Speaker 6: they really wanted to, if they, for example, use the
- 14:41Speaker 6: second round pick on that instead of Poke. I don't know.
- 14:44Speaker 4: I mean, they could have taken Alt in the first round. Yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 4: and then they wouldn't have May.
- 14:49Speaker 6: Right, But I'm not That's why I didn't say first round.
- 14:53Speaker 4: But the other guys are by no means like I
- 14:56Speaker 4: believe me. I'm getting chirped out every every day on Twitter.
- 15:00Speaker 6: Don't think it's right. But I just don't think it's
- 15:05Speaker 6: this herculean task to rebuild the offensive line.
- 15:10Speaker 5: I mean, I would connect it. I would connect it.
- 15:13Speaker 6: I thought you said you can find offensive lineman, that
- 15:16Speaker 6: this is the history of port.
- 15:17Speaker 4: You're looking for an elite offensive line average tackle. I
- 15:21Speaker 4: don't think above average tackles my mouth. You said above
- 15:24Speaker 4: average tackle. Yes, I don't think they grow on trees.
- 15:26Speaker 6: But you don't think they can find one above average
- 15:29Speaker 6: tackle between now and next year.
- 15:31Speaker 4: I hope they can. I think that's priority number one.
- 15:34Speaker 6: I think they can.
- 15:34Speaker 4: I don't think that's a four gone.
- 15:36Speaker 6: I don't think it's a monumental task. I don't think
- 15:39Speaker 6: it is.
- 15:40Speaker 4: I also don't think just an above average left tackle
- 15:42Speaker 4: is going to make the rest of those guys better.
- 15:44Speaker 6: Oh and I said, you find you know a couple
- 15:46Speaker 6: good interior got good?
- 15:48Speaker 4: Like to me, if if Caden Wallace and Leyden Robinson
- 15:51Speaker 4: can be starting caliber players and then you get an
- 15:54Speaker 4: above average left tackle, now you have an offensive line.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Because now I don't like you're right, you don't need
- 15:59Speaker 4: five all pros, you just need serviceable They don't have
- 16:02Speaker 4: serviceable right now, you know, contrary to other people's beliefs.
- 16:06Speaker 4: And I also they don't have serviceable alignment right now.
- 16:08Speaker 6: And I think next year, if Drake Taste takes the
- 16:10Speaker 6: second year jump that we hope he does, he'll make
- 16:13Speaker 6: the line better too.
- 16:14Speaker 4: He's already made the line well he's cut down on
- 16:18Speaker 4: and I think the way they're recording pressures like I
- 16:21Speaker 4: think this this week. I don't know what you what
- 16:23Speaker 4: did you have just out of curiosity for pressure numbers
- 16:26Speaker 4: because I felt like he was underta every snap.
- 16:28Speaker 7: Thirty eight percent for the game, but that seems really
- 16:30Speaker 7: low the first half was, I mean, thirty eight percent
- 16:33Speaker 7: is high, like that's you know, and.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I know I just felt like life all day.
- 16:37Speaker 7: And anything over thirty is is panic mode.
- 16:40Speaker 6: But you ask who I feel good about on off?
- 16:43Speaker 6: I feel good about Stevenson, I feel good about Hunter, Henry.
- 16:46Speaker 6: I'm feeling better about Boute Booty. I should say, you know,
- 16:52Speaker 6: so these guys, I think they're going to be part
- 16:55Speaker 6: of the solution next year.
- 16:57Speaker 4: So maybe next year, but I'm talking about like when
- 16:59Speaker 4: you're good, Yeah, who do you feel good about? Like
- 17:02Speaker 4: Stevenson and Henry probably won't be part of your next
- 17:05Speaker 4: playoff team.
- 17:06Speaker 5: You brought up Robinson and Wallace, and that to me.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Is they're important guys.
- 17:09Speaker 5: Jalen, two mid round guys that this new regime took
- 17:13Speaker 5: last year. That if both those guys are missus, then
- 17:16Speaker 5: I mean, I'm with I don't.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Know what to think about Polk, but I get get
- 17:20Speaker 6: it on the field and has two penalties.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I really liked your larger point, like just kind of
- 17:23Speaker 4: like breaking it down. It's a tip, you know argument.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I like it, Like what's easier to fix right now? Well,
- 17:29Speaker 4: you have there's no argument that you have a quarterback
- 17:32Speaker 4: that has the skills to play at a high level. Now,
- 17:35Speaker 4: that doesn't mean he's going to be a high level
- 17:37Speaker 4: quarterback because we all know that it takes a lot more,
- 17:40Speaker 4: right and he's gonna we're gonna have to see these
- 17:42Speaker 4: mistakes that we see now. And Evan called it. Yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 4: Evan called it the highest turnover worthy rate in the
- 17:48Speaker 4: you know right now? Does that diminish as the season
- 17:52Speaker 4: goes on? You know, because we haven't you know whatever,
- 17:55Speaker 4: eight more games, not more game, eight games now right
- 17:59Speaker 4: back in the race, eight games left. Do those turnover
- 18:03Speaker 4: worthy plays decrease or do they stay the same? I
- 18:08Speaker 4: think there's a chance you might see them rise because
- 18:09Speaker 4: I think I see a guy that's.
- 18:11Speaker 6: He wants to win and he'll try to do more.
- 18:12Speaker 4: He's putting a lot on his shoulders.
- 18:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I think there's you know, look that the glass
- 18:17Speaker 7: half full of the turnovers is that his numbers right
- 18:21Speaker 7: now are essentially the same as Josh Allen's his rookie season.
- 18:25Speaker 7: And what made Josh Allen an MVP caliber quarterback is
- 18:29Speaker 7: he took a five percent turnover worthy play rate and
- 18:32Speaker 7: dropped it to three and a half percent. So this year,
- 18:34Speaker 7: right now, he's at three point seven percent turn a
- 18:37Speaker 7: worthy play rate. So he reeled it in a little bit,
- 18:41Speaker 7: like he figured it out, and he figured out how
- 18:43Speaker 7: to not be a complete turnover machine and was able
- 18:46Speaker 7: to reel it in, and now he's a top five
- 18:48Speaker 7: quarterback in the NFL.
- 18:49Speaker 6: And to me, the only way to get better is
- 18:52Speaker 6: to keep playing, is to keep seeing things, to keep
- 18:55Speaker 6: the experience for Josh Allen, not pull it back and
- 18:58Speaker 6: have him watch its experience.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I agree. Let me ask you because I love the
- 19:02Speaker 4: Josh Allen stuff in the Justin Herbert stuff with with
- 19:06Speaker 4: regard to may do you like I personally? I think
- 19:09Speaker 4: you guys know what I think of Josh Allen is
- 19:11Speaker 4: like I think I think, see this might be that's
- 19:14Speaker 4: that's accurate. Usually you you exaggerate, but that's accurate. I
- 19:18Speaker 4: don't feel like Josh Allen would be Josh Allen without
- 19:22Speaker 4: his ability to be physical and run. Yeah, okay, I
- 19:26Speaker 4: think if you just asked him to do you know,
- 19:30Speaker 4: ninety five percent of it from the pocket, I think
- 19:32Speaker 4: he'd be good. But I don't think he'd be Josh Allen.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I think he'd be just another guy.
- 19:36Speaker 6: And that threat to run it.
- 19:37Speaker 4: That's so I'm wondering, do you think that Drake May
- 19:41Speaker 4: is showing signs of kind of that? Like what's making
- 19:45Speaker 4: him elite from a traits standpoint is his ability to
- 19:48Speaker 4: make plays with his legs. An underrated play that no
- 19:51Speaker 4: one talks about, that play that he scrambled around and
- 19:54Speaker 4: looked like he was going to get sacked and the
- 19:55Speaker 4: underhand flipped it to Stevenson Like that's mahomes Like those
- 20:00Speaker 4: are the kinds you can't teach that. That's just an
- 20:03Speaker 4: innate athletic ability that he has. Like I just looked
- 20:06Speaker 4: at Mike, I go, you know, I was like Eddie inelman, ah,
- 20:09Speaker 4: he's got it right. Like he's got it right. It's
- 20:12Speaker 4: like these things that you can't teach, right. But if
- 20:15Speaker 4: I don't think that Drake May could survive playing the
- 20:20Speaker 4: way he did Sunday, the way that Josh Allen has
- 20:22Speaker 4: been able to survive because Josh Allen is significantly Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 4: and I would worry that may. Yeah, I wouldn't be
- 20:29Speaker 4: able to hold up taking the amount of hits. Clearly
- 20:31Speaker 4: he hasn't learned anything about sliding yet. I thought Mark
- 20:35Speaker 4: Schlevetz was going to start crying and like he was like,
- 20:37Speaker 4: I thought he was gonna slide like fourteen times on
- 20:39Speaker 4: that run. Like he doesn't have any interest in avoiding contact, right,
- 20:44Speaker 4: Josh Allen doesn't either. But Josh Allen is much like
- 20:48Speaker 4: a good twick.
- 20:50Speaker 7: I mean, he's ten pounds heavier, ten pounds break.
- 20:53Speaker 4: But do you but do you look at those two
- 20:54Speaker 4: guys and think that they're the same size?
- 20:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't.
- 20:57Speaker 7: I mean, Drake's six four and a half time.
- 20:58Speaker 6: I think, by the way, I don't trust any of
- 21:01Speaker 6: those numbers that they have in the media.
- 21:03Speaker 8: Guy.
- 21:03Speaker 4: I just not looking at the media guy. I think Josh,
- 21:05Speaker 4: I think Drake may looks like a kid combat go
- 21:08Speaker 4: for Josh Allen.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Yeah, and now he's two hundred and forty pounds according
- 21:11Speaker 7: to your media guide, So.
- 21:12Speaker 4: I don't yeah, yeah, I mean like he's so that's
- 21:15Speaker 4: fifteen pounds.
- 21:16Speaker 7: No, Jake is two hundred and twenty five pounds. Josh
- 21:19Speaker 7: Allen's is two thirty seven, So we can split the difference.
- 21:23Speaker 4: But to me, that's one looks like a little brother
- 21:25Speaker 4: and the other one looks.
- 21:26Speaker 7: Like he's twenty two years old exactly.
- 21:28Speaker 4: So that's that's my point. So is he going to
- 21:30Speaker 4: be able to survive doing that? That's that's my worry.
- 21:33Speaker 7: Well, he's just like Josh Allen, like he will his
- 21:37Speaker 7: body will mature and he's going to get thicker like
- 21:40Speaker 7: Josh Allen didn't come into the league, is my point.
- 21:42Speaker 7: At at the two thirty five to forty that he
- 21:45Speaker 7: is now, we'll see.
- 21:46Speaker 4: I don't know, like I don't look at Drake May
- 21:48Speaker 4: and see like, oh wow, wait only fills out.
- 21:51Speaker 6: I don't look at I don't look at him that
- 21:52Speaker 6: I'd have to look at pictures of Josh Allen when
- 21:54Speaker 6: he came in. I don't remember.
- 21:56Speaker 7: Josh Allen's bigger, There's no doubt about it. But I
- 21:59Speaker 7: just think that, you know, you're looking at a twenty
- 22:01Speaker 7: two year old kid who is in his first year
- 22:04Speaker 7: in an NFL strength and conditioning program. You know, let's
- 22:06Speaker 7: give it a few years and see if he bulks up.
- 22:08Speaker 7: That's all I'm saying, you know.
- 22:10Speaker 4: But decent, like wait up, please, Like I know I
- 22:14Speaker 4: should never do this, but like I'm just looking down
- 22:18Speaker 4: down the road. I'm seeing what I see now, and
- 22:22Speaker 4: I'm as excited as everybody else. What happens if Okay,
- 22:28Speaker 4: so he starts running around, you know, let's just break
- 22:32Speaker 4: down the four games. Uh. He went and took himself
- 22:35Speaker 4: in for an MRI on his knee after one of
- 22:38Speaker 4: the games. He was taken out of a game with
- 22:41Speaker 4: a concussion after another one.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Of the games.
- 22:44Speaker 4: So those are the kinds of things I'm looking at
- 22:47Speaker 4: long term. Ninety five yards rushing.
- 22:49Speaker 6: Is great and those but those things build up.
- 22:51Speaker 4: But those things they wear on you. I don't think
- 22:53Speaker 4: Justin Herbert runs around like that anymore, you know, with
- 22:57Speaker 4: a high ankle spring, and even this is very selective
- 23:01Speaker 4: with it, but he always has been kind of selected.
- 23:03Speaker 4: I would just say Josh Allen is the psycho. He
- 23:06Speaker 4: just continues to run over linebackers like a maniac.
- 23:09Speaker 7: Just just because I have to, you know, pro Drake
- 23:11Speaker 7: over here. I would say. The one thing that I
- 23:14Speaker 7: would counter with that is I felt like watching it
- 23:17Speaker 7: on film that his scrambles because there's nobody opened down
- 23:21Speaker 7: the field for him to throw to. So it's like,
- 23:23Speaker 7: if you can get some receivers in here that can
- 23:26Speaker 7: actually get open, right, and maybe design some plays to
- 23:29Speaker 7: get some guys open, Like does eight scrambles happen every
- 23:32Speaker 7: single week?
- 23:33Speaker 4: Movie? That's got to be your hole.
- 23:34Speaker 6: That's the one thing that I do hear, you know,
- 23:37Speaker 6: the detractors who wanted him to wait a little longer
- 23:40Speaker 6: about developing those bad habits. You hope that he doesn't
- 23:44Speaker 6: get into the habit of giving up plays when he
- 23:47Speaker 6: gets better receivers, you know, uh, and he trusts in
- 23:50Speaker 6: in their routes and he trusts his line a little better.
- 23:53Speaker 6: That's what people were talking about about developing bad habits
- 23:57Speaker 6: with a bad team around him. You hope that that
- 23:59Speaker 6: doesn't happen.
- 23:59Speaker 7: The way I see it is like he looks around,
- 24:02Speaker 7: nobody's open. He's like, if it, I'll do it myself
- 24:04Speaker 7: because like what else?
- 24:05Speaker 6: Also, because the defenses aren't you know, in Drake may mode.
- 24:11Speaker 6: Yet he sees all this green grass in front of him,
- 24:13Speaker 6: So why not.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I do think Tennessee made an adjustment to that. Oh yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 4: you know in the middle of now it didn't eliminate it.
- 24:20Speaker 4: I think he had to scramble in overtime.
- 24:22Speaker 7: Yeah, for a first that's blocked by Remandre.
- 24:24Speaker 4: But I thought that they started to send some pressure
- 24:27Speaker 4: in some of the gaps that he was escaping from, yep,
- 24:30Speaker 4: and that kind of limited his scrambles like in the
- 24:34Speaker 4: second half.
- 24:34Speaker 6: I would say, all right, so so Drake May is
- 24:37Speaker 6: obviously something we're excited about, but you know, we do
- 24:40Speaker 6: have to talk about, you know, the rest of the team.
- 24:42Speaker 4: What else are you excited about?
- 24:44Speaker 6: Yeah, no, I'm not necessarily what Marcus, what stood out
- 24:48Speaker 6: to you with the game, good or bad? Besides Drake May.
- 24:52Speaker 7: I truly feel they lost this game because of coaching.
- 24:56Speaker 7: I really feel like that's why they lost, like they
- 25:00Speaker 7: It just felt to me like they made three critical
- 25:02Speaker 7: coaching mistakes in this game, starting Laden Robinson. I can't
- 25:07Speaker 7: explain that one.
- 25:08Speaker 6: So so they obviously they asked about that to draw
- 25:13Speaker 6: it afterwards, and to me, I got the impression from
- 25:17Speaker 6: his answer that the front of Tennessee made them decide
- 25:23Speaker 6: that they had to switch it up because of the
- 25:25Speaker 6: personnel of Tennessee. Yeah, but because of performance on the Patriots.
- 25:29Speaker 7: But but Tennessee's personnel was coming into the game was
- 25:32Speaker 7: the same thing.
- 25:34Speaker 4: I don't understand what your point is.
- 25:36Speaker 6: Do we have the transcript from Jerid know any game?
- 25:39Speaker 4: Why why they made the change from Robinson? Then moved toide.
- 25:42Speaker 6: Why they changed Simmons week before from the week before? Yeah, yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 6: so you thought it was a when listening to Mayo,
- 25:51Speaker 6: his response made me think that they did it because
- 25:54Speaker 6: of the personnel.
- 25:56Speaker 4: So you think that they just made a mistake.
- 25:58Speaker 6: They made a mistake. Okay, maybe maybe it had been worse.
- 26:01Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 26:02Speaker 7: Yeah, my read on it was that they were trying
- 26:06Speaker 7: to get the run game going a little bit and
- 26:08Speaker 7: they feel better about Laden Robinson and Mike on when
- 26:10Speaker 7: Who as your right side, and they ran right like
- 26:13Speaker 7: the entire game, uh than they did on when Who
- 26:16Speaker 7: and Trey Jacobs on the right side in the run game.
- 26:19Speaker 7: But what they apparently slept on was that Jeffrey Simmons
- 26:22Speaker 7: was just gonna line up over Laden Robinson and take
- 26:25Speaker 7: them out back. And that's exactly what happened. For the
- 26:28Speaker 7: entire first four drives of this game. They had a
- 26:31Speaker 7: pressure rate of forty five percent with Leyden Robinson on
- 26:33Speaker 7: the field. When they went back to the line that
- 26:35Speaker 7: they played last week, it was twenty nine percent, so
- 26:38Speaker 7: they they clearly made a big error there. The end
- 26:41Speaker 7: of the first half was just ridiculous. Like I don't
- 26:45Speaker 7: want to go on a whole rant about it right now,
- 26:47Speaker 7: but that whole handling of second and third down at
- 26:50Speaker 7: the end of the first half was horrible. Why well
- 26:53Speaker 7: you run the ball on second and one, Like, why
- 26:56Speaker 7: are you running the ball there?
- 26:57Speaker 6: First of all, well, that's that's one of my pet peeves.
- 27:00Speaker 7: Like your yards in field position and the clock or
- 27:04Speaker 7: the enemy there, not the sticks, Like if you throw
- 27:06Speaker 7: the ball on second and third down, you assume that
- 27:09Speaker 7: you're going to pick up the first down by throwing
- 27:11Speaker 7: the football. And they run the ball on third and
- 27:14Speaker 7: second and third and one trying to prioritize the yard
- 27:18Speaker 7: instead of prioritizing going down the field.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Criticism the second and one run didn't make any sense.
- 27:23Speaker 7: And look, you can look at the second and one run.
- 27:25Speaker 7: Didn't say it was a decent front to run into you,
- 27:27Speaker 7: and they probably shouldn't execute the box. But that's not
- 27:30Speaker 7: the point. The point is the situation, Like if.
- 27:32Speaker 4: They got eight yards on that play, I wouldn't be happy.
- 27:35Speaker 4: I think it was a wasted opportunity.
- 27:36Speaker 7: Yeah, and he went back to back throws to Kendrick
- 27:39Speaker 7: Bourne for twenty four yards fourteen and eight right, Yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 7: to get to get that drive started. And they were
- 27:46Speaker 7: moving in the right direction. And then they go into
- 27:49Speaker 7: the they put them in the garage again and they
- 27:51Speaker 7: run the ball two times in a row. Now they're
- 27:53Speaker 7: punting back to Tennessee, who luckily messed it up just
- 27:56Speaker 7: as bad as the Patriots.
- 27:57Speaker 4: I mean, they got a holding call. Like I mean,
- 27:59Speaker 4: that's basically what was the whole game is Tennessee moved
- 28:01Speaker 4: it anyway they wanted, and then they got successful plays
- 28:04Speaker 4: wiped off the bullet by holding calls. The Patriots would
- 28:06Speaker 4: get the ball, you know, start to do some good things,
- 28:09Speaker 4: you know, tomorrow Douglas makes a nice one here to catch,
- 28:11Speaker 4: they get a holding call. Or Drake May would scramble
- 28:14Speaker 4: for twenty yards, they get a holding call. That was
- 28:16Speaker 4: just two bad teams to make a comedy.
- 28:19Speaker 6: It was bad football.
- 28:20Speaker 7: Yeah. And then my last two third one, the last
- 28:22Speaker 7: one is the wind in overtime.
- 28:25Speaker 4: This is this.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Happen, he said, the wind change.
- 28:29Speaker 7: It didn't even if the did wind did change. You
- 28:31Speaker 7: need to be on that like, that's your responsibility.
- 28:34Speaker 4: But okay, can I can. I'm gonna go all three
- 28:37Speaker 4: of these. You know this is what I mean.
- 28:39Speaker 7: Just let me just finish real quick and then you
- 28:42Speaker 7: have at it. So the most frustrating part about the
- 28:45Speaker 7: wind is the damn play worked.
- 28:48Speaker 4: They had Kishan Boody.
- 28:50Speaker 7: On the deep post to win the game, and he
- 28:54Speaker 7: threw the ball into the wind and it got held
- 28:57Speaker 7: up in the wind and the MANI hooker picked it
- 28:59Speaker 7: off and he said after the game, I was throwing
- 29:01Speaker 7: into the wind and I needed to put more on
- 29:03Speaker 7: it and it was on me. So if they have
- 29:05Speaker 7: the wind at his back, we're talking about a walk
- 29:08Speaker 7: off sixty yard touchdown to Kaishan Boody right now, and
- 29:12Speaker 7: instead they didn't know which had But the fact that
- 29:17Speaker 7: his point, you lose the toss, you go, you take
- 29:20Speaker 7: to take the wind.
- 29:22Speaker 4: So the first thing, Yeah, I'm going to try to
- 29:26Speaker 4: play a little devil's advocate on all of them. I
- 29:28Speaker 4: think Evan makes some really good points, but I'm going
- 29:31Speaker 4: to try to play devil's advocate. If you want to
- 29:35Speaker 4: talk just short term, we want to do everything quote
- 29:37Speaker 4: unquote in our power to win every single game. Then
- 29:41Speaker 4: it's hard to argue who at guard is better than
- 29:44Speaker 4: when to attackle By the way everybody's focusing on lighton Robinson,
- 29:48Speaker 4: No one's talking about another subpower performance by your nineteen
- 29:50Speaker 4: million dollar alignment. He didn't play well again, but it's
- 29:56Speaker 4: hard to argue that a who at guard Robinson on
- 29:58Speaker 4: the bench is better. I understand their thought process, like,
- 30:04Speaker 4: this is a kid that we drafted, we feel good
- 30:06Speaker 4: about in some spots. We want to see what he
- 30:09Speaker 4: can do. So I kind of understand, No, let's go
- 30:13Speaker 4: with him and see if he can really be one
- 30:15Speaker 4: of my linemen moving forward because we're probably not in playoff.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Let the kids play, right, Yeah, Okay, again, that's Devil's advocate,
- 30:23Speaker 4: not necessarily attacking.
- 30:25Speaker 7: You exactly how I felt pregame about it. But what
- 30:27Speaker 7: bothered me about the decision was his explanation post game,
- 30:31Speaker 7: where it was like, to Vandre's threat and Jeffrey Simmons
- 30:34Speaker 7: were always going to be there, right, so like, if
- 30:36Speaker 7: you're if your problem, he said that they moved on
- 30:38Speaker 7: when you back inside to match him up against Jeffrey Simmons, right,
- 30:42Speaker 7: And it's like, but you knew that was the matchup coming.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Into That's why I didn't understand, like, yeah, that's just
- 30:47Speaker 4: a horrible evaluation. Yeah, if you did, you you didn't
- 30:50Speaker 4: realize that jeff Jeffrey Simmons is arguably the best player
- 30:53Speaker 4: on the Titans.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Period. So that's that's the first thing, and I'm just
- 30:59Speaker 4: trying to create the other side. The end of the half,
- 31:03Speaker 4: Mike and I again were apoplectic, like boom, boom. Not
- 31:07Speaker 4: only you get the fourteen yards the nine yards to Bourne,
- 31:10Speaker 4: didn't you kind of look at Born and see like,
- 31:12Speaker 4: oh wow, that's twenty twenty one. Kendrick Bourn right there.
- 31:16Speaker 4: He had a little shimmy to him. He was feeling
- 31:18Speaker 4: it a little bit. I thought he was getting into
- 31:20Speaker 4: a rhythm kind of what we've been talking about Mike
- 31:23Speaker 4: and pregame shows, like maybe they can established that they
- 31:26Speaker 4: need that one guy. Hunter Henry's the only guy that's
- 31:29Speaker 4: consistent in the passing game. Maybe this is like Kendrick
- 31:32Speaker 4: Boyd's coming out Party's he's going to be a month
- 31:35Speaker 4: removed now from coming back off the twenty acl. I
- 31:39Speaker 4: thought he had a little something going second and one
- 31:42Speaker 4: take a shot, you know, run a deep crosser, run something,
- 31:46Speaker 4: you know, run some kind of over route. That's the
- 31:49Speaker 4: whole place. See if you can get a chunk, knowing
- 31:51Speaker 4: that if it doesn't work, that's okay, it's third and one.
- 31:55Speaker 4: I'll just run it and get the first down. They
- 31:58Speaker 4: run on second in one and then take their time,
- 32:02Speaker 4: basically telling everybody, well, they're going to run on third
- 32:04Speaker 4: and one because otherwise they would be rushing. Yeah. Right.
- 32:09Speaker 4: They have no interest in scoring now, they only have
- 32:12Speaker 4: interest in getting getting out of the half. So the
- 32:15Speaker 4: third and one, I guess you kind of the way
- 32:19Speaker 4: you played it, you kind of locked yourself in. You
- 32:20Speaker 4: had to run second in one. I just don't understand.
- 32:23Speaker 4: I wish I had something I could I could combat
- 32:27Speaker 4: combat Evans criticism on. But Mike and I live were
- 32:30Speaker 4: going crazy in the bullpen.
- 32:32Speaker 5: At the very least on the second one you throw it,
- 32:34Speaker 5: he can probably just run and pick it up if
- 32:36Speaker 5: nobody's open, Like right.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Just like Evans explanation is like dead on perfect. Who
- 32:42Speaker 4: cares about the first down? Mm hmm, Like why are
- 32:45Speaker 4: we worried about the yard at that point? You gotta,
- 32:49Speaker 4: you gotta, you're trying to score, You're trying to get
- 32:50Speaker 4: the double score. Here, we're gonna put the pedal to
- 32:53Speaker 4: the metal and we're gonna go down the field and
- 32:55Speaker 4: then we're gonna come out in the second half and
- 32:57Speaker 4: get the ball again. Should have been going after it.
- 33:00Speaker 7: He's done it before, like they've they've gone on two
- 33:03Speaker 7: minute drills before the half. When he throws the forty
- 33:06Speaker 7: yard bomb to Kishon Booty against the Texans right and
- 33:09Speaker 7: he's shown that he can lead a two minute drill before.
- 33:11Speaker 7: And then they took the ball out of his hands
- 33:14Speaker 7: and and then they end up even punting it back
- 33:16Speaker 7: to Tennessee after all of.
- 33:18Speaker 4: That, just to pick up the yard point one of
- 33:21Speaker 4: his coaching criticism, I try to give you the other side.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Point two hard, I don't really like I'm kind of
- 33:28Speaker 4: in the middle. Point three. There's there's there's no explanation.
- 33:31Speaker 4: You guys were there, I wasn't. Mike, and I really
- 33:33Speaker 4: weren't aware of wind at all until Drake May said.
- 33:36Speaker 6: What he's listened. I it's on record. Before the game.
- 33:38Speaker 6: I pointed out that which direction the win? Because I
- 33:41Speaker 6: noticed that which direction the wind? As you're looking at
- 33:44Speaker 6: the bench, it's going from right to left.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Okay, so it never stopped. If that was something, if
- 33:48Speaker 4: that was something that they were cognizant of at the kickoff. Oh,
- 33:51Speaker 4: I was at the well the opening kickoff. Yeah, yeah, Well,
- 33:54Speaker 4: Girod says the wind changed. Okay, right, I'm not even
- 33:57Speaker 4: I don't think it did. I'm not even arguing whether
- 33:59Speaker 4: it did or not. So the wind changed. So, in
- 34:02Speaker 4: other words, it let's take him for his words. So
- 34:05Speaker 4: it changed from the start of the game. I assume
- 34:08Speaker 4: he's talking about, right, I guess you don't monitor like
- 34:12Speaker 4: there's another decision to be made here now, Yeah, Gerard,
- 34:15Speaker 4: there's more information. Yeah, at the start of the game,
- 34:18Speaker 4: whatever it was is what it was. You didn't like
- 34:22Speaker 4: take thirty seconds to figure out. Okay, if we lose
- 34:24Speaker 4: the toss here, which side do we take?
- 34:26Speaker 6: What I'm saying beside the window, what I'm saying at
- 34:28Speaker 6: the start of the game was consistent with what happened
- 34:32Speaker 6: at the end when Drake said he was throwing into
- 34:34Speaker 6: the wind. I guess how it was going at the
- 34:36Speaker 6: start too.
- 34:36Speaker 4: I get what you're saying. It didn't change to me, right, yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 4: but there is no argument to be made that if
- 34:43Speaker 4: it changed, you still picked the wrong side. Whether it
- 34:48Speaker 4: changed or not, you went into the wind willingly. I
- 34:53Speaker 4: don't have a devil's advocate for that one. I don't
- 34:55Speaker 4: I don't have an explanation.
- 34:56Speaker 6: One thing. This is kind of a weird one for me,
- 35:00Speaker 6: But talking about whether you know run verse pass, I
- 35:04Speaker 6: think the Patriots need to do something about how the
- 35:07Speaker 6: play is called in the huddle because I noticed it's
- 35:09Speaker 6: a tell. If Drake may is blah blah blah blah
- 35:11Speaker 6: blah blah blah, it's a pass. If he's be both
- 35:14Speaker 6: it's a.
- 35:14Speaker 7: Run are historically shorter.
- 35:19Speaker 6: Well then they have to cover that up somehow, make
- 35:21Speaker 6: them all the same length, at least seemingly in the huddle.
- 35:24Speaker 6: Because I noticed, like, if he's blah blah blah, bob,
- 35:27Speaker 6: then it's gonna then it was a pass every time.
- 35:30Speaker 7: But deerie noticing that on your TV? Or can you
- 35:33Speaker 7: notice that? No, I'm watching it on the binocular? Yeah,
- 35:36Speaker 7: because like that's the difference, right, is like if his.
- 35:39Speaker 6: I don't care what the viewers are watching, I care
- 35:41Speaker 6: what the other.
- 35:41Speaker 7: But I'm saying like, if it's a close up of
- 35:43Speaker 7: him doing.
- 35:43Speaker 6: It, they may not be able to see as much.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know, you can kind of tell.
- 35:48Speaker 6: Like his head's moving but how long this is gonna be?
- 35:53Speaker 4: That was next level.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:55Speaker 5: I looked at it Fred doing his live block, and
- 35:57Speaker 5: so do you think.
- 35:58Speaker 4: He goes like in the huddle and it's like, yeah,
- 36:01Speaker 4: we're gonna run it here.
- 36:02Speaker 6: Yeah, well it's it's markedly short.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Yeah when when when when a v P is in
- 36:07Speaker 4: his in his headsets, he's power right.
- 36:10Speaker 6: Yeah, so I hope you gotta figure out a way
- 36:15Speaker 6: to make it all look the same in the huddle.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Okay, remember to get back to that power. I write
- 36:21Speaker 4: twenty two later in the I gotta I got a
- 36:24Speaker 4: little I got a little line of dope.
- 36:25Speaker 6: Uh.
- 36:26Speaker 5: I'm gonna ask you guys, because even't mentioned a little bit.
- 36:28Speaker 5: I'm sure we're getting to the two point conversion. But
- 36:30Speaker 5: what was the feeling like in the stadium on that
- 36:33Speaker 5: last drive for the Patriots of regulation when they when
- 36:35Speaker 5: they went down the field and.
- 36:37Speaker 4: We all know that the press box is not necessarily
- 36:40Speaker 4: a quiet place, what was the scuttle But no, it.
- 36:42Speaker 6: Was I think it was a professional press box.
- 36:45Speaker 4: No, what were you guys like amongst yourselves, like saying
- 36:48Speaker 4: I'd go for two here or no.
- 36:50Speaker 6: My feeling was whatever they decided was good. I could
- 36:54Speaker 6: have gone either way. I could have gone either way,
- 36:56Speaker 6: but I'm on record for saying tie the game and
- 36:59Speaker 6: extend it. That was my decision. But if they had
- 37:01Speaker 6: gone for two, I'd been fine with that.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:04Speaker 7: I go back and forth on it too. I thought
- 37:06Speaker 7: that the atmosphere in the stadium was like a weird
- 37:09Speaker 7: combination because there there there there were a good amount
- 37:13Speaker 7: of Patriots fans that made the trip down there for
- 37:16Speaker 7: the weekend. So there was some cheering definitely on the
- 37:19Speaker 7: Remondra Stevenson touchdown.
- 37:21Speaker 6: Yeah, and there was one slamming of the desk by
- 37:24Speaker 6: somebody in the press box on one play tuble O.
- 37:27Speaker 6: The main name was yeah, yeah.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Yeah after the pick.
- 37:32Speaker 6: Where when was that? After the touchdow after the touchdown
- 37:35Speaker 6: it was a good sling yeah and excitement.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Oh oh oh.
- 37:39Speaker 6: Yeah yeah yeah yeah. It was more like, oh, it
- 37:43Speaker 6: was oh yeah, you're welcome, yeah yeah yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 4: So I just was curious if you know any of
- 37:50Speaker 4: the writers, you know, like you could somehow high five.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Sometimes you can hear people out about like, you know,
- 37:56Speaker 4: go like I could, like I think Mike, like I
- 37:59Speaker 4: talked to Mike a little bit this morning, Mike Greece
- 38:01Speaker 4: and his feeling was, you know, as they were getting close,
- 38:04Speaker 4: he was thinking, I'd go for two and try to win.
- 38:06Speaker 6: Well, this is one of the rare press boxes where
- 38:08Speaker 6: we were in the front row, like against the glass,
- 38:12Speaker 6: so you.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Don't back with the steers. Yea, when you're.
- 38:14Speaker 6: Behind you can hear more, but I didn't. I didn't
- 38:17Speaker 6: hear as much because I was facing the glass.
- 38:19Speaker 7: It's a lot of like kind of apart from the
- 38:22Speaker 7: external media too.
- 38:24Speaker 6: Yeah, they just to keep Evan away from the rest
- 38:26Speaker 6: of the media.
- 38:27Speaker 7: Yeah that makes sense, that checks out. But yeah, no
- 38:31Speaker 7: they I was back and forth on the go for
- 38:34Speaker 7: two things.
- 38:34Speaker 8: Two.
- 38:35Speaker 7: I think it's a coin flip, and that's what the
- 38:36Speaker 7: analytics would tell you that it's basically a coin flip.
- 38:40Speaker 6: But for me that had analytics is off the board
- 38:42Speaker 6: on that particular decision. Yeah, you know, I think.
- 38:45Speaker 7: I think that, you know, just weighing the circumstance. So
- 38:49Speaker 7: if you go into overtime, then you need another full
- 38:53Speaker 7: drive like a seventy five yard touchdown drive, or you
- 38:57Speaker 7: need to stop by your defense and points by your
- 39:00Speaker 7: offense and overtime, or you could just get it in
- 39:02Speaker 7: one play on the two point and win, or lose
- 39:05Speaker 7: that way, or you could.
- 39:05Speaker 6: Miss it, you know, so yeah shot or you have many.
- 39:09Speaker 6: You could look at it the positive way. I got
- 39:11Speaker 6: one shot or I got many shots.
- 39:13Speaker 4: I'ms are heavy.
- 39:14Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, for what it's worth. The nerds said to
- 39:17Speaker 7: kick for what it's worth.
- 39:18Speaker 4: I mean, palms of sweating.
- 39:19Speaker 5: I just think this is an offense that doesn't really
- 39:21Speaker 5: have an identity that they believe in right now. And
- 39:24Speaker 5: you know, if you had that, I want them to
- 39:26Speaker 5: have the identity right now of we got two wins,
- 39:29Speaker 5: we're gonna be picking in the top five. Let's just
- 39:31Speaker 5: screw it and be aggressive and toss caution to the
- 39:33Speaker 5: wind and not say whoa, whoa, whoa, we gotta play defense.
- 39:36Speaker 6: We gotta put like well, you wonder if it was
- 39:39Speaker 6: a more traditional way to score, if it wasn't this
- 39:41Speaker 6: twelve second scramble, if it was you know, a normal play,
- 39:45Speaker 6: if they would have felt more confident going for two
- 39:48Speaker 6: because Drake said he was tired, and I think Mayo mentioned,
- 39:52Speaker 6: you know, guys were a little win.
- 39:53Speaker 9: Just on them.
- 39:54Speaker 5: But I love the argument that the defense is got
- 39:55Speaker 5: of a defense felt, you know, and they're on their
- 39:58Speaker 5: fair enough fields. And I mean Evan said that fair enough.
- 40:00Speaker 5: The touchdown was scored, all the place explodes. I mean,
- 40:03Speaker 5: I know they're tired, but like I mean, we said
- 40:05Speaker 5: it on our show yet.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Time, Like that's not like the play ends in the play,
- 40:09Speaker 4: clock starts on.
- 40:11Speaker 6: So let me ask you a question. And your guy
- 40:13Speaker 6: asked it yesterday on his show, and I don't have
- 40:16Speaker 6: the answer. But you guys were watching more on TV
- 40:19Speaker 6: than I was. After the play. Did Mayo go one
- 40:23Speaker 6: or two with his fingers or did he make a
- 40:25Speaker 6: quick indication of what his decision?
- 40:26Speaker 4: I think it was it was reasonably quick. Yeah. Now,
- 40:29Speaker 4: if you listen to them, they say that they had
- 40:32Speaker 4: already determined during the drive that they were kicking it
- 40:36Speaker 4: to tie. Okay, oh really doesn't mean that's what happened. Yeah,
- 40:40Speaker 4: but that's that's been the story that's come out and
- 40:43Speaker 4: and whatnot. I want, yeah, I want to stay like
- 40:47Speaker 4: this is. I agree. There's no right or wrong answer
- 40:50Speaker 4: to those I personally would have gone for two.
- 40:54Speaker 6: You would have.
- 40:54Speaker 4: I would have And I said it to Mike before
- 40:56Speaker 4: I actually said it. When I dared to say when
- 40:58Speaker 4: they were on the twenty yard line and Matt smith
- 41:02Speaker 4: scoffed and scolded me for even thinking that they were
- 41:05Speaker 4: going to get in, and I was like, I think
- 41:06Speaker 4: they're going to get in. I mean I didn't obviously
- 41:08Speaker 4: envision the way they got in.
- 41:10Speaker 6: He's so pessimistic.
- 41:12Speaker 4: Oh, you have no idea. But I think for like
- 41:17Speaker 4: Mike touched on one of the reasons why, I think
- 41:21Speaker 4: when when wins and losses aren't necessarily the only thing
- 41:26Speaker 4: that matters, I think you established something in a situation
- 41:30Speaker 4: like that by going even if you miss it, Like
- 41:33Speaker 4: I would have much rather have missed the two point
- 41:35Speaker 4: conversion and lost than lost in overtime the way they did.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Do you think Poke falling down the week before?
- 41:41Speaker 4: Okay, so this is this is another good point. I
- 41:43Speaker 4: got a lot of these. I've heard a lot of well,
- 41:46Speaker 4: what play would you run? I mean, they couldn't do
- 41:50Speaker 4: anything on it. Do something, they couldn't run it. So
- 41:54Speaker 4: I've also heard and Evan just reiterated it, and he's right,
- 41:58Speaker 4: extend the game, go to overtime. We didn't want to
- 42:01Speaker 4: extend the game. When we were down nine in London
- 42:03Speaker 4: with eight minutes left, we decided to put it all
- 42:05Speaker 4: on a two point conversion because the game ended on
- 42:07Speaker 4: that failed two point conversion. We didn't want to. We
- 42:10Speaker 4: weren't interested in extending the game that day. Right, And
- 42:14Speaker 4: we've also heard from the analytics people that have smacked
- 42:17Speaker 4: Mike and I around for thinking that they shouldn't have
- 42:19Speaker 4: gone for two in London. Well, the play was there.
- 42:23Speaker 4: You had to play Polk fell down, run that play
- 42:27Speaker 4: and have someone else running the route that doesn't fall down. Yeah, right, right,
- 42:31Speaker 4: I mean, I admit you can't run. You couldn't run
- 42:33Speaker 4: Stevenson off tackle. I mean after the first his first
- 42:37Speaker 4: carry of the game, he got five yards. I don't
- 42:39Speaker 4: think you got more than one on any carry after that. Like,
- 42:41Speaker 4: it was ridiculous how unproductive the running game was. But
- 42:46Speaker 4: you got to have some kind of point play.
- 42:49Speaker 7: Yeah, they said they had a two point play. I
- 42:52Speaker 7: mean I know what it was, but I would hope
- 42:54Speaker 7: so yeah.
- 42:55Speaker 6: I mean that's and the other.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Part that you know, and I just touched on it,
- 42:58Speaker 4: the whole fatigue thing. Yeah, I have no doubt that
- 43:00Speaker 4: Drake May was exhausted, absolutely exhausted.
- 43:04Speaker 5: But got two and a half yards and eat Drakie.
- 43:06Speaker 4: He had like five guys chasing him for those twelve seconds.
- 43:10Speaker 4: They had to be exhausted too.
- 43:12Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the only one where I wonder like the
- 43:14Speaker 5: read option stuff probably off the table and that you know,
- 43:17Speaker 5: like where he just ran that much Like I don't know,
- 43:20Speaker 5: like ideally i'd love to like that's that's an advantage
- 43:22Speaker 5: that you.
- 43:23Speaker 6: Want to get.
- 43:23Speaker 4: But that's one point. Hey, I don't know.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Weg go ahead and what would you what do you
- 43:27Speaker 5: think would what were you thinking with a play call there?
- 43:29Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 43:29Speaker 7: I mean I would not at that field position, Paul.
- 43:35Speaker 7: I would like to think that they have some sort
- 43:38Speaker 7: of like Philly RPO in their back pocket or like
- 43:42Speaker 7: he has three options to hand it, to run it himself,
- 43:45Speaker 7: or to throw it to somebody in the flat if
- 43:47Speaker 7: that's there too, and you kind of get them out,
- 43:50Speaker 7: you know, in space and give them like a couple
- 43:52Speaker 7: of different options on a play. But that's optimistic to
- 43:56Speaker 7: think that they have that, to be honest.
- 43:58Speaker 4: Not a pick play like everybody else does.
- 44:00Speaker 6: Yeah, all right. Eight five five past five hundred is
- 44:02Speaker 6: the TPX hotline. That's eight five five past five hundred
- 44:06Speaker 6: podcasts at Patriots dot com is the email address. I
- 44:11Speaker 6: had a nice get together with sweet kid, Oh nice
- 44:16Speaker 6: Melvin from Tennessee and Trey from Memphis ninety Saturday Night,
- 44:20Speaker 6: You're with the boys, went to listen to some bluegrass,
- 44:22Speaker 6: which wasn't very good.
- 44:23Speaker 4: Uh yeah, Fred Yeah, comes down on the music. Yeah.
- 44:26Speaker 6: No. I My idea of bluegrass is it's the instruments,
- 44:30Speaker 6: you know, like if your banjo and guitar on front
- 44:32Speaker 6: and center, then it's not bluegrass. And this was like singing.
- 44:35Speaker 4: It's like you have a lot of yeah rules.
- 44:38Speaker 6: Yes, I do you do?
- 44:40Speaker 5: Yes, I yes, it's blue glass grassrooms have blue grassrooms.
- 44:43Speaker 7: How are the two and seven Browns in the hunt?
- 44:46Speaker 6: Nobody knows what you're talking about, Evan, they're not in
- 44:48Speaker 6: the hunt. All right, let's get to our crawlers. You
- 44:51Speaker 6: see what they have to say. They even as on
- 44:53Speaker 6: those socks, says patiently, holding on. Yes, that Patty's inn agawam,
- 44:58Speaker 6: what's up Patty? Hey?
- 45:01Speaker 10: Afternoon?
- 45:01Speaker 4: Everyone, Hey, hey, hey, So.
- 45:04Speaker 10: I wanted to touch on a couple of things, Paul.
- 45:06Speaker 8: I think you're right.
- 45:07Speaker 10: I think over like the last sixteen years or so
- 45:09Speaker 10: or somewhere thereabout offensive linemens, specifically tackles taken high, it's
- 45:15Speaker 10: hit or missed. It's like fifty to fifty, and I
- 45:17Speaker 10: feel like I mean, they didn't always one hit before that,
- 45:20Speaker 10: but I feel like the percentage is a lot better.
- 45:23Speaker 8: And my question it's.
- 45:25Speaker 10: Kind of for Evan, because Evan, I know, you break
- 45:27Speaker 10: down the film, and a couple of weeks ago on
- 45:29Speaker 10: Catch twenty two, I said, what do we have to
- 45:31Speaker 10: do to stop the run? What the hell do we
- 45:33Speaker 10: have to do to get our running game going? Because
- 45:36Speaker 10: I mean, it was decent in the first two games,
- 45:39Speaker 10: and I don't think these guys just forgot how to
- 45:40Speaker 10: run block. Maybe it's you know, they caught some people
- 45:43Speaker 10: off guard because they didn't have filmed the first two weeks.
- 45:45Speaker 10: But how do we do it? How do we, you know,
- 45:49Speaker 10: sort of balance this south so Drake may is not
- 45:52Speaker 10: our entire offense, and because it's not sustainable, that's what
- 45:55Speaker 10: I got. I'll take it off their things. Guys.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Thanks, yeah, thanks Patty.
- 45:58Speaker 7: I wrote about it, and after further of you, I
- 46:00Speaker 7: feel like that's probably the second biggest thing people are
- 46:04Speaker 7: interested in. First obviously just being how Drake played. But
- 46:07Speaker 7: I think the biggest thing when I see the running
- 46:09Speaker 7: game right now is they're just they're running a lot
- 46:11Speaker 7: of outside zones still, and that just doesn't seem to
- 46:14Speaker 7: be working on any front. They just can't reach those
- 46:17Speaker 7: blocks on the line of scrimmage to get the outside
- 46:20Speaker 7: zone game going. And then they had some weird gap
- 46:23Speaker 7: runs in this game, Like they had one early where
- 46:26Speaker 7: they put Citiso at full back and then they ran
- 46:28Speaker 7: away from him instead of having Stevenson follow him, you know,
- 46:33Speaker 7: through the hole. They ran away from the lead play,
- 46:37Speaker 7: and I thought that was peculiar because it just like,
- 46:40Speaker 7: why put him in there then if you're just gonna
- 46:42Speaker 7: run away from it. So they have some weird things
- 46:44Speaker 7: going on. Schematically, I would say, just decisions, you know,
- 46:48Speaker 7: how they want to run the ball, how they want
- 46:50Speaker 7: to play action off the run game Like right now,
- 46:52Speaker 7: none of it is really sequencing or marrying together. And
- 46:56Speaker 7: that's been a big problem as well.
- 46:58Speaker 8: Well.
- 46:58Speaker 7: See this week they Bears run defense is terrible, So
- 47:01Speaker 7: hopefully that's something that they can get going this week.
- 47:04Speaker 5: You just think that it would improve though, right Like,
- 47:06Speaker 5: I mean, this is one thing that I kind of
- 47:07Speaker 5: believe of just the dance of rum blocking and how
- 47:11Speaker 5: it's all got to be in concert and we all
- 47:12Speaker 5: have to take this step together and it'll get better
- 47:15Speaker 5: as we work on it. And that's just what's jarring
- 47:17Speaker 5: to me. It's like, at some point it has to
- 47:19Speaker 5: start to look better. You've been practicing it, you've been
- 47:21Speaker 5: telling us this, it hasn't.
- 47:22Speaker 9: So.
- 47:22Speaker 6: I watched the last night Tristan Whorf. He had one
- 47:25Speaker 6: sequence where he gets his inside block and then goes
- 47:29Speaker 6: out and then kicks out the safety or whoever. It
- 47:32Speaker 6: was like he had two key blocks on one play.
- 47:35Speaker 6: It's just like, man, why can't we get that?
- 47:37Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I would just say sometimes you think back
- 47:42Speaker 4: and you remember the production and you don't really remember
- 47:46Speaker 4: how we were talking about it. Patty brought up you
- 47:49Speaker 4: know that Drake may running around is unsustainable. The three
- 47:52Speaker 4: of us talked about how asking Remandri Stevenson to break
- 47:56Speaker 4: the amount of tackles that he was breaking in the
- 47:57Speaker 4: first two games was unsustainable. Yeah, and we've seen it,
- 48:01Speaker 4: like you consistently get hit in the backfield, You're not
- 48:03Speaker 4: going to consistently get yards right. It's going to catch
- 48:05Speaker 4: up to It catches up to you. And I think
- 48:07Speaker 4: I don't think that they blocked that much worse than
- 48:10Speaker 4: they were. I just think Stevenson was exceptional and I
- 48:14Speaker 4: think Gibson was exceptional at it too. I should put
- 48:17Speaker 4: him in there. He's really gone like silent.
- 48:20Speaker 6: Oh yeah, he's kind of disappeared since.
- 48:22Speaker 4: And I made the comment like, have you noticed thev
- 48:24Speaker 4: like we're talking about in the post game, played eight snaps,
- 48:27Speaker 4: but since the game that he had to replace you know,
- 48:30Speaker 4: those two games that he had to replace Stevenson, he
- 48:32Speaker 4: was the man. Yeah, and he did nothing. He's done.
- 48:36Speaker 4: He's not had that role where he can fill in
- 48:38Speaker 4: and be productive on the injury report a little bit.
- 48:41Speaker 7: So I wonder if he's dealing with something that's limiting him.
- 48:44Speaker 7: But you know, next gen tracks expected rushing yards per carry,
- 48:49Speaker 7: just like based off of the situation and all that
- 48:51Speaker 7: kind of stuff, the Patriots are dead last in the
- 48:54Speaker 7: league at three point three yards per carry right now
- 48:57Speaker 7: that they're expected to get. So this is about to me,
- 49:00Speaker 7: it's about blocking in scheme, Like, it's not Remondery, Like
- 49:03Speaker 7: he didn't get worse at running the ball. They're just
- 49:06Speaker 7: not blocking very well for him right now.
- 49:08Speaker 6: Carlos is in the Bay Area. What's up, Carlos?
- 49:12Speaker 11: Hey, guys, first time, long time.
- 49:14Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 49:16Speaker 8: I just wanted to ask.
- 49:17Speaker 11: I wanted to hear what your guys' opinion was on
- 49:20Speaker 11: drug Mail's comments about the trade deadline and pretty much
- 49:23Speaker 11: thing that it's not like the MLB, and they're not
- 49:25Speaker 11: going to teams aren't going to trade a starting quarterback
- 49:28Speaker 11: or a.
- 49:28Speaker 8: Starting left tackle.
- 49:29Speaker 11: Those are the examples he used. So I was wondering
- 49:31Speaker 11: what you guys thought about that, if you agree, if
- 49:34Speaker 11: you think that that's kind of competting the foundation that
- 49:37Speaker 11: they won't make big moves, or I just wanted to
- 49:39Speaker 11: hear where your guys head.
- 49:40Speaker 6: No, I do agree with him, and it isn't it's
- 49:43Speaker 6: not like the NBA or the MLB, like guys don't
- 49:46Speaker 6: move typically in the NFL like they do on those
- 49:48Speaker 6: other trade deadlines.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Yes, and no, I think if you want to use
- 49:53Speaker 4: his you know, and I didn't hear Gerad's comment, but
- 49:55Speaker 4: if you want to use that specific example, you know,
- 49:57Speaker 4: starting quarterbacks aren't moving or whatever, I'd say that. I mean,
- 50:01Speaker 4: that's largely true. You're not going to get the star
- 50:03Speaker 4: or the stars. But there's been a fair amount of
- 50:06Speaker 4: activity already. There has a left tackle moved camera early. Yeah, well,
- 50:11Speaker 4: I mean to me, that's trade deadline. Yeah, I you know,
- 50:13Speaker 4: I count. I think there was a fifth receiver added today.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Jonathan Mingo moved a pretty good pass rusher in Zadaria.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Smith moved ye.
- 50:22Speaker 7: Brandon Browning moves.
- 50:24Speaker 4: Baron Browning moved yesterday. Like to me, they're all trade
- 50:28Speaker 4: deadline deals. Yeah, the team that generally was making the
- 50:32Speaker 4: moves felt like they were probably out of it and
- 50:34Speaker 4: they're selling off pieces. And I'm not telling you the
- 50:36Speaker 4: Patriots are losing a huge opportunity here. I'm just saying
- 50:40Speaker 4: I think Gerrod's overall tenor undersold what I think the
- 50:44Speaker 4: trading deadline in the NFL is starting to become. I
- 50:47Speaker 4: think teams are using it more and more than they did.
- 50:51Speaker 4: I feel like there's more player acquisition in the Remember
- 50:54Speaker 4: you probably don't, but when Andy was still here, we
- 50:58Speaker 4: had this whole thing about quarterbacks, like, well, you screwed.
- 51:00Speaker 4: If you don't have a quarterback, you have to draft them.
- 51:02Speaker 4: And I was like, I don't know if that's true anymore,
- 51:05Speaker 4: Like if Peyton Manning can change teams, you know, Drew
- 51:08Speaker 4: Brees is changing to you know, like there's a way
- 51:13Speaker 4: that players become available now that I don't think existed,
- 51:17Speaker 4: say in the first part of the Patriots dynasty, you know,
- 51:21Speaker 4: twenty in two thousand and one, it was like free
- 51:23Speaker 4: agency and draft, you know, and you could make moves
- 51:27Speaker 4: like that. Now I think I think you're starting to
- 51:31Speaker 4: see quarterbacks changing teams in the off season, not during,
- 51:36Speaker 4: not in the trade deadline, but a lot of starting
- 51:39Speaker 4: caliber quarterbacks are starting to change teams. A lot of
- 51:43Speaker 4: frontline receivers are getting traded in the off season, and
- 51:46Speaker 4: then I would say secondary receivers like Hopkins and Cooper
- 51:50Speaker 4: and Mingo now Deontay Johnson are starting to get traded
- 51:54Speaker 4: to the deadline. I think you can get players to
- 51:57Speaker 4: fill needs.
- 51:58Speaker 5: It still feels like the cliche of teams that feel
- 52:00Speaker 5: like they're a piece away need that one. You know
- 52:02Speaker 5: that those are usually the teams that add. But I'd
- 52:05Speaker 5: just like to see something, I mean, we talked about.
- 52:08Speaker 5: Wouldn't be opposed to adding here, getting somebody that maybe
- 52:10Speaker 5: can build for the future. I would.
- 52:12Speaker 4: I would A guy like Mango to me, would be
- 52:16Speaker 4: and I'm not saying him specifically, I'm saying a guy
- 52:18Speaker 4: like that, you know, a second year guy's kind of
- 52:21Speaker 4: second round pick been disappointing, hasn't gotten anything going, he
- 52:25Speaker 4: available because obviously he moved. Yeah, might you want to
- 52:28Speaker 4: bring a guy like that in to see if you
- 52:30Speaker 4: can develop him.
- 52:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's why, like Taekwon's name gets thrown around
- 52:33Speaker 5: as that, you know, similar kind of situation. Disappointing guy
- 52:36Speaker 5: has some traits. Will he worked somewhere else?
- 52:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean last year at the deadline, the Commanders
- 52:41Speaker 7: sold both their pass rushers. You know, Montes Sweat goes
- 52:44Speaker 7: to the Bears, who are good players, aren't in a
- 52:46Speaker 7: win now mode type of situation at that point in
- 52:49Speaker 7: time for Chicago. And then the year before, Christian McCaffrey
- 52:52Speaker 7: got traded at the trade deadline. So it's not quarterbacks
- 52:56Speaker 7: and left tackles per se, right, So I can see
- 52:59Speaker 7: where he's coming from with that. But you know, the
- 53:01Speaker 7: Bears I thought did a great job with Montes Sweat
- 53:04Speaker 7: of then they signed him to a big.
- 53:05Speaker 4: Contract tactical of that trade because I was like, what
- 53:07Speaker 4: are they doing? He's like gonna leave as a free agent.
- 53:10Speaker 4: He's not gonna resign with Chicago A little bit, I.
- 53:12Speaker 5: Know, to me is impressive, you know, And that's what
- 53:15Speaker 5: I think, Like, let's face it, like they they need
- 53:18Speaker 5: some moves to hit. They need to be aggressive, Like
- 53:20Speaker 5: the draft class ain't looking great right now. The free
- 53:22Speaker 5: agency class ain't looking great right now, Like Drake may
- 53:24Speaker 5: looks pretty great, but I'd like to see some creativity, Like.
- 53:27Speaker 4: I would love them to get a young wide receiver
- 53:31Speaker 4: from somewhere that they can play for eight games and say, hey,
- 53:35Speaker 4: maybe we got you know, Darius Slayton with the Giants.
- 53:39Speaker 4: You know, you know someone from another team that's in
- 53:42Speaker 4: the same situation.
- 53:43Speaker 5: Somebody played with Drake, you know, you know the unc guy.
- 53:46Speaker 4: Like Jalen Hyath with the Giants who's like, like he's
- 53:50Speaker 4: completely fallen.
- 53:51Speaker 7: Off the map, taylond Thorton two point zero.
- 53:53Speaker 4: Right, but like, but maybe you bring him and again,
- 53:56Speaker 4: don't fixate on the name. I like Darius Slayton, but
- 53:58Speaker 4: do you know what I'm saying, Like, if you're fixating
- 54:00Speaker 4: on the name when I'm talking more about the idea, Yeah, yeah, no.
- 54:03Speaker 7: I wrote it in the mail bag today that I
- 54:04Speaker 7: would like to see them do to do exactly what
- 54:07Speaker 7: the Bears did, Like I I you know, I was
- 54:09Speaker 7: watching the Bears on the plane ride to Nashville and
- 54:12Speaker 7: number ninety eight keeps popping off the tape and it's like,
- 54:14Speaker 7: who is it. It's Montes Sweat. You know, how did
- 54:16Speaker 7: they get Montes Sweat. Last year at the trade deadline,
- 54:19Speaker 7: they traded a second round pick for Montese Sweat. I mean, look,
- 54:22Speaker 7: you can't just manufacture that trade. It's got to be
- 54:25Speaker 7: to make that happen. But I'd much rather do that
- 54:27Speaker 7: than some of the sell off parts deals that have
- 54:32Speaker 7: been floated. You know.
- 54:33Speaker 4: But you know, if you got a guy there's some
- 54:38Speaker 4: some receiver and all of a sudden he came in
- 54:39Speaker 4: the last eight games, you plugged him in and all
- 54:42Speaker 4: of a sudden, hey, it looks like Drake May and
- 54:44Speaker 4: Darius Slayton have a little chemistry. You know, a guy
- 54:48Speaker 4: caught twenty passes, twenty five passes over the last eight games.
- 54:52Speaker 4: Maybe now we just need to find like the big
- 54:55Speaker 4: dog receiver. But you know, with Douglas and Booty and Darius,
- 55:00Speaker 4: maybe we have maybe we have the makings of depth
- 55:03Speaker 4: in the receiver corps. We just need to get the
- 55:06Speaker 4: big dog right now. I think they need the big dog.
- 55:08Speaker 4: I think they need the number two, and they need
- 55:12Speaker 4: some depth to go with what they have because I'm
- 55:15Speaker 4: not convinced. I'm not sold on any of what they have.
- 55:18Speaker 6: Todd's in North Carolina, what's up Todd.
- 55:22Speaker 8: Yeah, how you doing good?
- 55:23Speaker 5: Todd?
- 55:25Speaker 9: I watched a little bit of the pre game on
- 55:28Speaker 9: Sunday and they're talking about the evolution of the Detroit
- 55:31Speaker 9: Lions and how they actually started by building the two
- 55:35Speaker 9: lines their ON line and the D line, and then
- 55:38Speaker 9: added pieces to that. Do you think that the Wolf
- 55:41Speaker 9: would take that approach or do you think that we
- 55:44Speaker 9: need to, you know, jump the shark and try to
- 55:47Speaker 9: get more tools for you know, Drake to hit where
- 55:51Speaker 9: What would you do? What would be your I think
- 55:54Speaker 9: your ultimate draft pick to try the current issues And
- 55:57Speaker 9: I'll take the answer off.
- 55:59Speaker 6: I think you go for the best players available.
- 56:02Speaker 4: You know just what I would do.
- 56:04Speaker 6: You prepare yourself for every opportunity that might come up,
- 56:08Speaker 6: and then you go for it.
- 56:09Speaker 7: I'm building through the trenches. I think statistically, you see
- 56:13Speaker 7: that all the best teams in the league are great
- 56:15Speaker 7: on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the
- 56:17Speaker 7: ball for the most part. Detroit, Kansas City. I mean,
- 56:21Speaker 7: you can just go right down the list, those the
- 56:23Speaker 7: teams at the top of the standings. You go and
- 56:25Speaker 7: you take like ESPN's like win rate metric on the
- 56:28Speaker 7: line of scrimmage, and you take the teams at the
- 56:30Speaker 7: top of the standings. They are all really highly ranked
- 56:33Speaker 7: in pass rush run wad, pass block win rate, you know,
- 56:36Speaker 7: run stopping percentage, like all the things that involve the
- 56:40Speaker 7: offensive and defensive lines.
- 56:42Speaker 4: All right, I'm with you. I would take the bet.
- 56:44Speaker 4: I mean, if if that's if the best players are
- 56:46Speaker 4: defensive take or offensive linemen take them.
- 56:49Speaker 6: Yep, all right, we'll take a break. We'll come back.

- 58:17Speaker 13: everyone can focus on the perfect opening night FedEx Where
- 58:21Speaker 13: now meet's next for residential delivery only.
- 58:24Speaker 14: Good morning everyone, you know, kind of like what I
- 58:28Speaker 14: said last night, you know, leaving the field disappointed, going
- 58:33Speaker 14: back and watching the film and just seeing you know,
- 58:35Speaker 14: plays that were left out there on the field.
- 58:37Speaker 3: And I always say, it's not just one play.
- 58:39Speaker 14: You know, everyone's gonna either be stuck on you know,
- 58:42Speaker 14: the interception at the end of the game, or to
- 58:44Speaker 14: go forward on two here to go forward or not
- 58:47Speaker 14: to go forward on too. Those are definitely those hindsight
- 58:50Speaker 14: things that I oftentimes think about, but at the same
- 58:52Speaker 14: time that we prepare for throughout the weekend during the
- 58:55Speaker 14: flow of the game. Obviously, you know, I'm very proud
- 59:00Speaker 14: of the way the locker room has stuck together. You know,
- 59:03Speaker 14: it was it was a battle. You know, anytime you
- 59:05Speaker 14: go in the overtime on the road like that, it
- 59:09Speaker 14: takes a lot. And I would say it takes a lot,
- 59:12Speaker 14: especially when you lose, uh, lose the game, and proud
- 59:15Speaker 14: of the way.
- 59:16Speaker 3: The guys you know, showed, showed some toughness.
- 59:18Speaker 9: Uh.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Unfortunately we're I'm able to to walk away with the win.
- 59:25Speaker 15: There was questions you will serve with Mike Jerry fold
- 59:26Speaker 15: by Chris.
- 59:27Speaker 16: Ryan uh one lineup question and one strategy question. I
- 59:33Speaker 16: guess I started with the lineup one. Why did you
- 59:37Speaker 16: decide to or what went into deciding to switch the
- 59:39Speaker 16: offensive line once again to start the game this week.
- 59:43Speaker 14: I thought that was the best thing to do for
- 59:45Speaker 14: the team. Look, they have a good front. Ninety eight
- 59:49Speaker 14: definitely is a problem. I thought that was just the
- 59:52Speaker 14: best thing to do for offense.
- 59:53Speaker 16: And then wondering why you chose the direction you did
- 59:56Speaker 16: in overtime. Drake mentioned after the game that you know,
- 1:00:01Speaker 16: throw kind of died a little bit in the win there,
- 1:00:03Speaker 16: so clearly guys decided to kick into the into the wind.
- 1:00:07Speaker 14: Yeah, so the win at the time, I would say
- 1:00:09Speaker 14: the win had changed. So the win had changed from
- 1:00:11Speaker 14: the beginning of the game to the.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: End of the game. So that's what happened. Oh, thank you.
- 1:00:16Speaker 15: Yeah, Chris Ryan felled by Tom Current.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: Brought the ball as well.
- 1:00:22Speaker 17: With you on Drake's perform. When you evaluate, you know
- 1:00:27Speaker 17: where things are at for him and see conness of
- 1:00:30Speaker 17: the promise, but also you know some of the growing
- 1:00:33Speaker 17: issues that occur with the rookie quarterback.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: But how do you how do you.
- 1:00:36Speaker 17: Evaluate that and when in making corrections, make sure that
- 1:00:42Speaker 17: you know he's in a good place moving forward.
- 1:00:46Speaker 14: I feel like Drake has been coached hard his entire
- 1:00:48Speaker 14: life and started in the household, you know, with this
- 1:00:51Speaker 14: with his brothers and parents and even in Carolina have
- 1:00:54Speaker 14: been coached hard, and we coach him hard here just
- 1:00:56Speaker 14: like we coach everyone else, you know, and saying that
- 1:00:58Speaker 14: I think you hit it on the head. There will
- 1:01:00Speaker 14: be growing pains. That's part of being a rookie regardless
- 1:01:03Speaker 14: of position.
- 1:01:06Speaker 17: And just where do you think he's he's that at
- 1:01:08Speaker 17: this point? Is this kind of what you what you
- 1:01:10Speaker 17: envisioned in in putting the plan in place, there would
- 1:01:14Speaker 17: be you know days, days like these where you see
- 1:01:16Speaker 17: positives and negatives.
- 1:01:18Speaker 14: Man, I think that's yeah. I think that's for all rookies,
- 1:01:21Speaker 14: that they're going to be ups and downs. And you know,
- 1:01:24Speaker 14: as we said earlier, we see and you just look
- 1:01:25Speaker 14: for progress for guys to get better every single week.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Thank you, Thanks us.
- 1:01:32Speaker 18: Tom, Current holidays, Hope, rolling, Hey Rod, Hey, Tom, just
- 1:01:37Speaker 18: wanted to go a little deeper on that two point decision.
- 1:01:39Speaker 18: Obviously these calls are not one d one way to
- 1:01:43Speaker 18: the others. Fifty one forty nine a lot on the decision.
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: But what.
- 1:01:50Speaker 18: You mentioned hindsight. In hindsight, why do you look at
- 1:01:53Speaker 18: it and say, well, maybe we should have done the
- 1:01:55Speaker 18: other because we lost the game. It's that simple, because
- 1:02:00Speaker 18: we lost the game. You know, you go back and
- 1:02:02Speaker 18: you know earlier in the season we went for two, Uh,
- 1:02:05Speaker 18: we didn't get it. You get criticized, and then you
- 1:02:07Speaker 18: kick the field goal here and you get criticized.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: So I'm always going to do what I think is
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: best for the team, and I think, you know, we
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: can talk.
- 1:02:14Speaker 14: About analytics and all those things, which we we do
- 1:02:17Speaker 14: use those things, but at the same time, you know,
- 1:02:19Speaker 14: there's also a flow to the game and as the
- 1:02:21Speaker 14: head coach, ultimately the decision and the consequence.
- 1:02:25Speaker 18: Lays Oni, did you feel as if there was a
- 1:02:28Speaker 18: fatigue factor your team having been on the field for
- 1:02:31Speaker 18: a while, because I was thinking the fatigue factor would
- 1:02:33Speaker 18: have been more on Tennessee at that point they had
- 1:02:36Speaker 18: to chase for twelve seconds on the touchdown play, and
- 1:02:40Speaker 18: did that way into it at all?
- 1:02:42Speaker 14: Yeah, there are multiple factors that went into it, and again,
- 1:02:45Speaker 14: you know, I just did what I thought was best
- 1:02:47Speaker 14: for the team.
- 1:02:51Speaker 15: Sophie Wellen followed it to Cole Rangam.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: Hi sure d.
- 1:02:56Speaker 16: I was just curious.
- 1:02:57Speaker 19: I saw after Pop Douglas made that touch on the
- 1:03:00Speaker 19: sidelines it looked like kJ Osborne was so hyped up
- 1:03:04Speaker 19: for him. What's it like to have a player like
- 1:03:07Speaker 19: who you know, was a healthy scratch but was still
- 1:03:10Speaker 19: just as involved in the game.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: Just what do you see from kJ on the sidelines
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: in those moments?
- 1:03:15Speaker 14: Yeah, you know, I grabbed him after the game and
- 1:03:18Speaker 14: told him how much I appreciated his energy and a
- 1:03:22Speaker 14: guy like that, it's all about the team. It's not
- 1:03:24Speaker 14: about him as an individual, and we need more people
- 1:03:27Speaker 14: like like him.
- 1:03:29Speaker 19: What went into the decision as well to have him
- 1:03:32Speaker 19: be a healthy scratch yesterday?
- 1:03:35Speaker 14: Yeah, look, I'm always gonna and I would say, you know, myself,
- 1:03:38Speaker 14: along with the coaching staff, will always do and put
- 1:03:41Speaker 14: the players out.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: There that we think are going to help us win
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: that game. Thank you so much, Thank so.
- 1:03:48Speaker 15: The coach, Randal, Thanks Rod.
- 1:03:53Speaker 20: On the offensive line, I know, and one who's moved
- 1:03:55Speaker 20: back and forth a bit, but if his best spot
- 1:03:58Speaker 20: is it right guard, would there be any consideration to
- 1:04:00Speaker 20: moving Leaden Robinson over to the left?
- 1:04:04Speaker 14: You know, I'm sure they'll you know, that's part of
- 1:04:06Speaker 14: the conversations that we'll have today and tomorrow and again
- 1:04:10Speaker 14: whatever that combination looks like. I'm not sure right now,
- 1:04:15Speaker 14: but we'll always do what's best, uh best for the team.
- 1:04:23Speaker 21: Yoki Chim warning coach morning, just want to from from
- 1:04:28Speaker 21: your standpoint, if you see the same way like I
- 1:04:31Speaker 21: see it, because I feel like your.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Screenplays have not been very effective and what might have
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: been the problem, then.
- 1:04:38Speaker 14: Yeah, you know, I would say throughout the season, our
- 1:04:41Speaker 14: screens have definitely, uh not given us the yards that
- 1:04:46Speaker 14: we all hope it will give us. This is something
- 1:04:48Speaker 14: that we have to continue to work on. I would say,
- 1:04:50Speaker 14: you know, it's all about timing. Screens are all about
- 1:04:52Speaker 14: timing when the screen is called, you know, making it
- 1:04:56Speaker 14: look like something else. There's a lot of factors that
- 1:04:58Speaker 14: go into executing your screen. It's a hard play to
- 1:05:01Speaker 14: execute and we just have to continue to practice.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:05:05Speaker 15: Thanks back to Tom Curran in the corn.
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: Page.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: RUD A quick question on.
- 1:05:14Speaker 22: May.
- 1:05:15Speaker 23: Obviously, with all the different things that you guys have
- 1:05:18Speaker 23: that you want to install it instilled this year, developing
- 1:05:22Speaker 23: and finding a quarterback's going to be very very high
- 1:05:25Speaker 23: on the list. Can you look at Drake right now?
- 1:05:29Speaker 23: And you had a question earlier about where is he
- 1:05:32Speaker 23: relative to where you thought, But can you look at
- 1:05:35Speaker 23: him right now and say, we really feel like a
- 1:05:39Speaker 23: kind of a special player here in terms of not
- 1:05:42Speaker 23: just his on field performance, but his toughness and resilience
- 1:05:46Speaker 23: and the way that he carries himself too. I mean,
- 1:05:48Speaker 23: after the lost yesterday, I thought he was he wasn't.
- 1:05:52Speaker 23: He was very authentic in everything that he said and
- 1:05:57Speaker 23: seemed to feel about losing despite playing well.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Yeah, you know his Let's start with just his personality.
- 1:06:04Speaker 14: I think I've said this before, just his even ko
- 1:06:08Speaker 14: approach to everything and saying that, you know, I'm excited.
- 1:06:12Speaker 14: I'm excited for him, I'm excited for a lot of
- 1:06:15Speaker 14: our young guys. And I would say just as a group,
- 1:06:17Speaker 14: those guys have to just continue to, you know, go
- 1:06:20Speaker 14: through the ups and downs together and hopefully it builds
- 1:06:23Speaker 14: resilience amongst the team.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: But in regards to Drake, I'm excited to see his
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: continue to grow.
- 1:06:32Speaker 15: There's two final questions to Cody Randall and Mike Jarrett.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Drew out about about a month ago.
- 1:06:38Speaker 20: I think you said he felt better about the chances
- 1:06:40Speaker 20: of Christian Barmore playing this season. Just wondering has he
- 1:06:42Speaker 20: cleared any of those extra hurdles you were talking about
- 1:06:44Speaker 20: back then, and do you think there's any chance he
- 1:06:46Speaker 20: could start practicing relatively soon?
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: We're getting close? Thank you, thanks.
- 1:06:53Speaker 15: And last question, Mike.
- 1:06:56Speaker 16: Ure, I know there's a million things to go into it,
- 1:06:58Speaker 16: but it's been three straight weeks now with the run
- 1:07:01Speaker 16: game with the running backs has not been able to
- 1:07:03Speaker 16: get moving. What what what commonalities are you seeing in
- 1:07:07Speaker 16: the inability to run?
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: The football? Starts up front, appreciating.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: Us and now great moments in history?
- 1:07:20Speaker 24: All right, so we're going to go negative concerns. This
- 1:07:22Speaker 24: is basically my wheelhouse. Okay, So I would worry that
- 1:07:28Speaker 24: how they played offensively is how they want.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: To play, right, But you're worried about it? Yeah, how
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: they played offensively in the game is not an aberration.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: That's how they want to go to.
- 1:07:38Speaker 25: Helen, that they want to be din't be worried about it. No,
- 1:07:41Speaker 25: I'm that's something that I that I don't think a
- 1:07:43Speaker 25: lot of people are worried about.
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: But I'm talking about you. But you are worried about it.
- 1:07:47Speaker 25: So the question was so that I think he just
- 1:07:50Speaker 25: put me in. I thought we were doing picks. All
- 1:07:52Speaker 25: of a sudden, he put me in the grinder. The
- 1:07:54Speaker 25: question was, what is something that you're worried about that
- 1:07:57Speaker 25: other people aren't, No, that you shouldn't be No, he
- 1:08:02Speaker 25: asked for both.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: Helen asked, now, I know, but.
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: It wasn't what are you worried about that other people?
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: It's like, what are you worried about that you shouldn't
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: be worried about?
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Okay, Well, this is something that other people aren't worried about.
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: But I am bringing other people. I want to know
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: your opinion.
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: I just told you, Okay, how they play offense is
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: something that I would I would be worried about that.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: Fans aren't they think that Sunday was great?
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:08:24Speaker 15: That?
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: That was the second part of I don't know if
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: that's the spirit of the question.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: That's another great moment.
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered eighty five to
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: five pass five hundred is the TPX Hutline podcast at
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: Patriots dot Com. Is the email address. Jacobin Rochester writes
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: in I honestly wish people would shut up. He says
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: in all caps, three exclamation zippets. It's about Drake May
- 1:08:50Speaker 6: running so much. Everyone is constantly freaking out that he's
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: gonna get hurt. Yes, he's had a concussion, but he's
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: literally the entire offense right now. He can't throw and
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: catch the ball, although he was responsible for three hundred
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: yards out of three hundred and fifteen the offense had
- 1:09:05Speaker 6: in the game. How often have quarterbacks who also run
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: like Rogers, Murray, Allen Hurtz, Purdy, Daniel Jones, Mahomes Russell, Wilson, Fields, Herbert, etc.
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: Been hurt in missignificant time. If you try to change
- 1:09:18Speaker 6: the way he plays, he won't have the magic he
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: currently has. What the team needs is things around him
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: so he doesn't need to care the team. I'm sure
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: his back is sore this week from carrying the team.
- 1:09:29Speaker 7: I mean that last point is exactly what I said.
- 1:09:31Speaker 7: I said. The hope is is that you cut down
- 1:09:33Speaker 7: on some of those scrambles because there's open receivers for
- 1:09:36Speaker 7: him to throw the ball to. I don't have as
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: much problem with him running. I either like I'm kind
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: of with the email, or like I don't mind it,
- 1:09:44Speaker 7: but I like that kind of quarterback like Lamar Josh Allen,
- 1:09:47Speaker 7: Like those are the guys I enjoy watching. If you're
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: used to watching a different kind of quarterback, then that's
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: where we get into this argument.
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: I would just argue not necessarily against the injury. The
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: injury is part of it. I brought up the fact
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: that he's been banged up but already as a result
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: of the constant running. But it's not this fear of
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: him getting hurt. I'm not I don't watch games, you
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: know through my fingers. Oh no, I know Drake. I'm
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: not worried about him getting hurt all the time. It's
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: not productive. They don't move the ball and they don't score.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: Those are the things that I'm looking for. Lamar Jackson
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: and Josh Allen I have two of the most productive
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: offenses of the last five six years in football, all
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: of football. So they run and they put points on
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: the board. The Patriots run and they had a score
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: with no time left to get to seventeen. Like now.
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: Part of that is.
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: Because he has no help. I get it. But I
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: would like to see some more conventional offense. I would
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: like to see fourth and five over the middle to
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: or if I might have been fourth and two over
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: the middle to Hunter Henry. Conventional offense looked awesome down
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: to the five yard line. There was a play earlier
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: in that drive to Hunter Henry, the over route that
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: to Mario Douglas caught with one hand on the sideline.
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: Those are the plays that get me jacked up. Those
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: are sustainable. I can do that every week. Once I
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: get the receivers that I want and the pass protection
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: that I want, Drake may can make those plays that
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: I can do every week. You can't win unless you
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: are unbelievably gifted, like those two guys just running around
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: mostly scrambling every every week for ninety five yards.
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: He's got to learn, that's got you know, he's got
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: to identify things and understand when he's going to have
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: those opportunities. And I mean, I'm with you, guys, I
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: just I love having the feeling of you hate it.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: On the defensive side of the ball, it's third and eight,
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: everybody's covered, and that's when he slips out. That's what
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: I keep the chains moving, get up fighting.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: That's when I said to Evan and the Jets game,
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: I don't even know what to do with myself. I
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: never had one touchdown.
- 1:11:50Speaker 7: Yeah, those are the exact plays, but there are a
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: lot of the plays that Paul's you know, Patriot plays
- 1:11:56Speaker 7: that he's talking about. I mean, he made a great
- 1:11:58Speaker 7: throw to to Pop on a little three quarters release
- 1:12:02Speaker 7: on and out to the sideline that was like Bray
- 1:12:06Speaker 7: am mondola esque right like just like right on the money,
- 1:12:09Speaker 7: read it out of empty like perfectly. Like he makes
- 1:12:12Speaker 7: those types of throws. A couple to Henry against blitzes
- 1:12:14Speaker 7: that he got the ball out right at the top
- 1:12:16Speaker 7: of the drop and knew exactly where to go with it.
- 1:12:19Speaker 7: So I'm with Paul, like, those are the things that
- 1:12:21Speaker 7: you should be more excited about than him running around.
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: But it doesn't hurt that he two hundred yards. That's
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: not great. Like they have one of the least productive
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: passing games in football, If not still thirty two, it
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: was thirty two recently, I don't know if it still is. Yeah,
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: Like that's you can't score it if you can't throw
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: it with production. Now, I understand they lack production because
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: the offensive line doesn't give them any protection, because the
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: receivers aren't getting any separation. I understand all the reasons,
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: but I'm not going to get overly excited because he
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: rushes for ninety five yards because that's not really going
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: to lead to a lot of points and it hasn't.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: Let's go to Kai in Hawaii. What's up, Kai?
- 1:13:02Speaker 8: Hey, guys, can you hear me? Okay?
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: Yep?
- 1:13:05Speaker 26: So I just want to talk about the decision to
- 1:13:07Speaker 26: go for two at the end of regulation in the
- 1:13:09Speaker 26: Patriots game. I didn't have any problem with it. I mean,
- 1:13:12Speaker 26: I think Drew's totally right that everyone's been second guess
- 1:13:15Speaker 26: just because the way the game turned out. But in
- 1:13:19Speaker 26: the game last night, on the other hand, and this
- 1:13:21Speaker 26: is where I think, like you really have to throw
- 1:13:22Speaker 26: analytics out the window. In the Bucks Chief game, the
- 1:13:26Speaker 26: decision not to go for two by the Bucks at
- 1:13:28Speaker 26: the end or towards the regulation, I think it was
- 1:13:30Speaker 26: like thirty seconds left. I thought that was insane. Like
- 1:13:33Speaker 26: with the way the Chiefs have been playing this year,
- 1:13:36Speaker 26: with the way that they always find a way to
- 1:13:38Speaker 26: pull these games out, to not take the opportunity.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: To just end the game, then it wouldn't have ended, right,
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: they still get the ball back. There's a big difference
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: between that one and the Patriots. They they wouldn't have
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: ended the game by getting a two point conversion. There
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: was time for Kansas City to get out.
- 1:13:52Speaker 26: To me twenty seven seconds. I think the Chiefs still
- 1:13:55Speaker 26: had all their timeouts they did.
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: Like I see that they had all three timeouts. Home's time.
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: The Chiefs very famously scored in twelve seconds a couple
- 1:14:04Speaker 7: of years thirteen.
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: But I get it.
- 1:14:07Speaker 26: But at the same time, don't you think going for
- 1:14:09Speaker 26: two there would have given them a better shot to win? Nope, bang,
- 1:14:12Speaker 26: potentially you don't.
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: I don't I think that they would have increased the
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: chances of Kansas City kicking a field goal to win
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: the game because there would have been urgency and they
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: would have gone for it on fourth down. It's funny.
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: We just had good talk about this during the break,
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: you know. I think with it the bucks ki really
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: made a mistake and Troy Aikman was all over it live.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: That why they call time out with thirty three seconds
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: left at the one yard line. It made no sense.
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: Now if they were able to sort of score in
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: the last ten seconds. Now I'm with you, go for
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: two and stick the you know, stick the steak in
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: the heart, and now Mahomes has no chance to beat you.
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: I think that with whatever it was, I think it
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: was like twenty twenty three seconds or something like that,
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: I think that that's ample time for Mahomes to go
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: down and kick a field goal. And I think that
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: in a tie game, he's less likely to do that
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: because he's not going to take any chances. He's going
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: to play it safe and make sure the worst that
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: happens here is we're going to get to overtime.
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: I can't lose the game.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: And I mean, as it was, they punted on fourth
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: and one or two at the end, they would have
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: gone for that.
- 1:15:17Speaker 26: Yeah, yeah, I guess you're right there. But as soon
- 1:15:21Speaker 26: as the did you see on the on the coin flip?
- 1:15:24Speaker 26: It looks like as soon as Baker lost, he was
- 1:15:27Speaker 26: like like, sorry, sorry, you're.
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: Gonna drop me now? Oh geez, all right, thanks, ky,
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: I missed that he dropped. He dropped a bomb.
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: When when when Baker was like, oh did he really? Yeah,
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: I didn't watch the game.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I was watching people.
- 1:15:42Speaker 6: Don't the highlights?
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: Hear me like, yeah, yeah, NFL overtime.
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: Manny's a new Bedford. What's up? Manny? Hello?
- 1:15:51Speaker 8: Can you guys?
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: Hear me?
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:15:54Speaker 22: So question, I want to see what you guys think
- 1:15:56Speaker 22: about this, But do you guys think there's that there
- 1:15:58Speaker 22: could be a potential that Drake May leaves after five years.
- 1:16:02Speaker 11: Or four or five years, because.
- 1:16:04Speaker 22: I look at this organization now and I feel like
- 1:16:07Speaker 22: there's so many gaps, whether it comes to the coaching front,
- 1:16:11Speaker 22: off is inability to draft the players you have on
- 1:16:14Speaker 22: a roster, and if I'm Drake May after four or
- 1:16:17Speaker 22: five years, I'm hey, you guys had five years to
- 1:16:20Speaker 22: figure it out, Like you guys still haven't figured it out.
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: Listen, Manny, if they haven't figured out four or five years,
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: I'm going to be with him.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: So I haven't I have advice. I have advice for
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: Manny two to six Monday through Friday on the Sports Hub,
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: Mike Felger, Tony Maserati.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: That's your show, right, that's the call for that show
- 1:16:40Speaker 6: about I'm thinking about the Bear, So he's thinking about
- 1:16:42Speaker 6: four to five.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: I don't think I'm gonna be able to extend him.
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: So what's the use?
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: Thanks?
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: No, Well, train around, man, you know.
- 1:16:49Speaker 6: I get it. I mean what he's saying, if they
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: haven't done anything to improve this team after four to
- 1:16:54Speaker 6: five years. If I'm Drake May's agent, I'm telling him
- 1:16:58Speaker 6: you have to leave. I mean, but tamer Lawrence to that,
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: that's really pessimistic. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: So you pay him sixty million dollars a year, he'll
- 1:17:08Speaker 7: probably stay.
- 1:17:10Speaker 6: Ron and Conway New Hampshire. As they listened to the show,
- 1:17:13Speaker 6: I'm actually upset that they lost, but excited at the
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: same time. My point is simply this. I remember back
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: in the spring when all of you were wanting me
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: to start the season. Also, you all had said that
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: with May, mistakes would come and as fans, we had
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: to be patient even though the record sucks. Now May
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: is legit and one of the very few playmakers on
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: the team that and he just so happens to be
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: our starting quarterback. My only question is why does the
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: offensive offense constantly have to be shuffled? I think offensive
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: line constantly have to be shuffled with the offense being
- 1:17:50Speaker 6: so young. Is that just growing pains. I'd love to
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: hear your thoughts.
- 1:17:54Speaker 7: I think it might continue, honestly, with the shuffling as
- 1:17:57Speaker 7: much as you can make the case for continuity, Like
- 1:18:00Speaker 7: Michael Jordan's play is just going in the dump. So
- 1:18:05Speaker 7: I always think that with Robinson was so maybe cold
- 1:18:09Speaker 7: strange factors in here by the end of the year
- 1:18:11Speaker 7: or two, like those are three young guards that you
- 1:18:13Speaker 7: drafted relatively early, and this is this like fringe NFL
- 1:18:18Speaker 7: player in Michael Jordan, Like, it's probably gonna be time
- 1:18:21Speaker 7: at some point to turn it over left guard to
- 1:18:24Speaker 7: one of those guys. That might even be as as
- 1:18:26Speaker 7: soon as next week. So I think the shuffling's gonna continue.
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: Just go back to Leyden Robinson and Kayden Wallace. I
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: just I'd love to feel like you get something out
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: of those guys, and right now, my confidence level in
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: either one of those emerging as a penciled in starter
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: for twenty twenty five is non existent. So yeah, I
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: mean they have they have some games left those and
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: I think Robinson could get another you know, could get
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: another shot. But at a certain point, some of these
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: guys start have to play better.
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: And it's part of that whole thing too, you know,
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: like you bring in Ben Brown for someone else's practice
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: squad and he plays and you're like, oh, wow, it
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: wasn't that bad, Like maybe they get something here, and
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: then he plays four games in a row and you know,
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: Quinn Williams dominates him and Tovandre Sweat dominates them, and
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: that's I'm not criticizing Ben Brown. Those guys should dominate
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: Ben Brown. But now it's like, oh, it's reality, Michael Jordan,
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: you know, practice squad guy, we bring them up. Wow,
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: he's been like the best lineman in the first couple
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: of games. And then he keeps playing and you sort
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: of watch him a little bit more, and this was
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: a tough game for him. I think.
- 1:19:30Speaker 7: Yeah, five quarterback pressure has allowed a couple of run stuffs.
- 1:19:33Speaker 7: I mean, he just he's struggling, and Ben Brown was
- 1:19:38Speaker 7: was bad too.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: Like, you can get like guys that can play, like
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Michael Jordan can you know he can, he can play,
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: but like you need to probably be better than that,
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: and you you would hope that between strange So and Robinson,
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: one of those guys is significantly better than Michael Jordan
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: certainly has more upside.
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: Yeah, save us cold Strange here we are.
- 1:20:01Speaker 7: It's crazy, but they kind of need him in a way.
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: Now he's not center.
- 1:20:06Speaker 7: Maybe is a guard and it's probably crazy to put
- 1:20:09Speaker 7: him in at center midway through the season like this,
- 1:20:11Speaker 7: But like left guard, I mean, he's probably better left
- 1:20:14Speaker 7: guard than Michael Jordan.
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: Is Wonderful'll see him on the practice field soon.
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: Well well, no tomorrow.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: Interview at half time this weekend, so I guess no,
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: he can be He can return to practice anytime.
- 1:20:28Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, yeah uh. Podcasts at Patriots dot com is
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: the email address, and just a reminder if you want

- 1:21:04Speaker 4: And I think you will like it too, because there's
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: a lot of really unnecessary shots at me. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: I think it's not totally unnecessary, and I think and
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: I think people will enjoy it. They just, you know,
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: the the reporter that puts together the newsletter shotty work.
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: Now just terrible report, just terrible reporting, taking all kinds
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: of hearsay and and un truths. It's supposed to have
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: put them out there, putting them.
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: Out where's this person's journalistic integer.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: Now there's just none, Alexandra.
- 1:21:34Speaker 6: So I didn't want to man basketball to this kid,
- 1:21:36Speaker 6: but yeah, just email podcasts at Patris dot com and
- 1:21:40Speaker 6: you will start getting the newsletter.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: Do we want some trade deadline?
- 1:21:46Speaker 7: Marshawn Lattimore goes to uh from New Orleans to Washington
- 1:21:50Speaker 7: for quite a package.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: Here.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: The New Orleans is getting a third round pick and
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: a fourth round pick and a sixth round pick for
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: Marshawn Lattimore and a fifth round pick, so one of
- 1:22:01Speaker 7: those is kind of like, you know.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: The sixth for the fifth is kind of like two
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: picks pick swap.
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: And Mike Williams dealt from the Jets to the Pittsburgh
- 1:22:10Speaker 7: Steelers for a fifth round pick.
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: So that's like the sixth receiver of that move, right,
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: So quite a bit of action.
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: Roger, Roger goodallaslin, I need you to make trays at
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: the trade deadline so that we can create another event.
- 1:22:26Speaker 7: Correct, good point.
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: I like, I stand by my my point. I think
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: the NFL trade deadline over the last five or six
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: years has gotten bid up. It's gotten bigger. Okay, all right,
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: I mean some of those masha Animore is that's a
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: significant acquisition.
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: Mentioned also Dennis Allen getting fired from the Saints. I can, yeah,
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: I can, I can.
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: I hear what the cap is crap people laighing on
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: the New Orleans of it all, and I saw, I
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: just saw.
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: I'm a cap is crap. But you can't be sixty
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: whatever million over it, like you can't. You can't buy
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: at it. So I'm not going to be that stubborn
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: about it.
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: I kind of feel like the Saints have, Like I
- 1:23:06Speaker 7: agree with you for the most part, but like they
- 1:23:08Speaker 7: their way, the way they manage the cap is kind
- 1:23:11Speaker 7: of cool. It's kind of like they have a line
- 1:23:13Speaker 7: of credit and they realize that it's never gonna come due.
- 1:23:16Speaker 7: So if we just keep kicking the can down the
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: road every single year, it's not like some like Henchman's
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: gonna come down to our offices and like demand the
- 1:23:24Speaker 7: sixty right now. So it's like, you know, having a
- 1:23:28Speaker 7: credit card, Like they realize that they can rack up
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: all this debt because it's just never going to become due.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: And in fairness, when it was Peyton and Breeze, they
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: were in contention everything. Yeah, you know, now all of
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: a sudden it's Dennis Allen Derek Carr, Like, is it
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: because you're over the campo? Because you're not that good?
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: Ben In Brooklyn writes, and not sure if it's been
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: mentioned before about Drake May, but I believe he completed
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: passes to nine or ten different receivers wide receiver, tight end,
- 1:23:55Speaker 6: running back, not all of whom are all pro. I
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: think this is a good sign. Separately, it seems like
- 1:24:01Speaker 6: Marcus Jones has been been big in their recent rallies.
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: Given the lack of electric playmakers, don't you think he
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: should get two or three touches on offense?
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: To bring that up with Marcus Jones, that first thing
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: he says a little little misleading like a lot of
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: guys have one catch. I know, but he's struggling.
- 1:24:26Speaker 6: Just say he's willing to distribute.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: They're struggling in the passing thing. Can we just say
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: it like the way it is like they don't have
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: any wide receivers that are any but it's Hunter Henry.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: It's the only guy I feel good about. When the
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: ball gets thrown one, that's it.
- 1:24:39Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: They also had a ton of screens in this game
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: that none of which picked up in the yards.
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: One of them, the one that Hasty got lit up on.
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: That was a nice play by that linebacker.
- 1:24:49Speaker 7: I'm not one hundred percent sure that everybody knew it
- 1:24:52Speaker 7: was a screen.
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: I love when everyone has these little stories about film
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: study like that just makes me laugh.
- 1:24:59Speaker 7: I'm just being honest. It's like I'm not in any
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: of their heads. Like so, I couldn't tell you for sure,
- 1:25:05Speaker 7: but it looked to me like half the guys were
- 1:25:08Speaker 7: running a drop back play and half the guys are
- 1:25:10Speaker 7: running a screen and that's what happens, and then the
- 1:25:13Speaker 7: linebacker flies and almost puts Jmichael Haysey in the next one.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: But that's the stuff that I hear from, like from
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: my son, and when they when they can use one
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: of the dorky linemen, and that's the stuff that I
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: hear when they do like, yeah, we didn't know it
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: was a screen, Like, well, what do you mean And
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: they're like, well, yeah, after what you've said, Well I
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: heard five hundred and I'm like, how did everybody hear screen?
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: There's like two linemen out in front of the guy
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: who's catching the ball, and there's one like just aimlessly
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: pass blocking nobody, Like how does that happen? You know
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: when it's high school, so you get it the kids.
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: But like I have been saying this stuff about the NFL.
- 1:25:52Speaker 7: I just I'm on a Paul shows and I'm not
- 1:25:54Speaker 7: taking a shot at Phil. I'm sure his reporting is
- 1:25:57Speaker 7: one hundred percent accurate, but he said that Titans coaches
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: were praising the Patriots often.
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: I actually heard him say this last night on the
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: early edition whatever, that I would love.
- 1:26:07Speaker 7: To know what system and not the just like Drake
- 1:26:10Speaker 7: may system, Like, like, what what do you like about
- 1:26:13Speaker 7: the system? Because they can't run the ball and they
- 1:26:15Speaker 7: can't get anybody open. So I'm not really understanding, like
- 1:26:18Speaker 7: what fundamentally is so great about the system that they're
- 1:26:22Speaker 7: trying to run, Like, do you still.
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: See a lot of examples where receivers and route running
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: seemed to be convoluted at times?
- 1:26:32Speaker 7: I thought it was worse last week than it was
- 1:26:34Speaker 7: this week. It was a little bit better, I would
- 1:26:36Speaker 7: say this week. But when you play defense like the Titans,
- 1:26:39Speaker 7: who ran like eighty seven percent of their dropbacks were
- 1:26:42Speaker 7: in zone coverage, zone coverage is all about scheme, like
- 1:26:45Speaker 7: man to man is when it's on the receivers to
- 1:26:47Speaker 7: get open, like you got to beat the guy across
- 1:26:49Speaker 7: from you. When you face zone coverage defenses, it's on
- 1:26:52Speaker 7: the play caller to get guys open, to put guys
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: in conflict and move guys and things like that. And
- 1:26:58Speaker 7: so when you don't have production in the passing game
- 1:27:00Speaker 7: against the zone defense, you look at the design of
- 1:27:02Speaker 7: the place and the scheming of what's going on.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: So I'd be interested some of our listeners can help
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: us out, I see, because we're watching you know one
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: of my shows, The Beatle in the Zoe, as Fred says,
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: Bill Belichick evidently unveiled his All Belichick team.
- 1:27:17Speaker 7: I did see this, and he had about seventeen guys
- 1:27:19Speaker 7: he either coached.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: Or currently on the board.
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: Chris Board made it old Frank, Chris, Chris Board, Chris Board.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: I think there were for so you guys are already
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: aware of this. I don't need the listeners.
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: I saw some highlights. I think Marcus Jones was on it.
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: Marcus Jones, Oh, he must have twenty seven special teams guys.
- 1:27:35Speaker 7: Well, it was all it was offense defense special teams.
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: Yeah, but they must be more special teamers than anything else.
- 1:27:39Speaker 7: Yeah, but it was Patriots. Either current or ex special
- 1:27:43Speaker 7: teamers made the list. I was a schooler, Marcus Jones,
- 1:27:49Speaker 7: Christian Ellis as a special teamer.
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: And Chris Board.
- 1:27:53Speaker 7: So they didn't give it to Joe Cardona though is Yeah,
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: I didn't see his name on.
- 1:28:00Speaker 6: James Pettigrew, the most interesting Patriots fan of the world.
- 1:28:02Speaker 6: Rights in. We knew the Patriots would suck, but I'm
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: not sure how we were meant to suck, and it
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: looked good for Mayo to that end. Which of the
- 1:28:11Speaker 6: nine two win teams coaches is doing a good job Titans, Browns, Dolphins, Panthers, Jags, Raiders, Saints, Patriots,
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: and Giants. Well, the Saints guy get fired, Dennis Allen.
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's hard to it's hard to argue
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: any of those guys are doing a good job. Some
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: of them are more extenuating. I would say the Miami
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: one is a little bit more extenuated, Like they had
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: to play a big chunk of their season out their quarterback,
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: and then since he's been back, they kind of look
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: like they always do. They just, you know, kind of
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: spiral out of control. You have losing games the last
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: two games. My guess is that the last two games
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: they would not have lost them both had they not
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: lost whatever many they lost when Tyler Huntley was playing.
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: Those are kind of losses the last two weeks that
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: losing teams find a way to lose. The Arizona game
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: that they lose at the Buzzer, and then the Buffalo
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: game they had every opportunity to win. I don't know,
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: I don't think. I think. I still think McDaniel's a
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: good coach. Yeah, I mean, maybe some of the bloom
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: is off the roads and he's not quite this mad
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: scientist that everybody made him out to me. But I
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: still think he knows what he's doing.
- 1:29:18Speaker 7: He's definitely in the category of like, is he a
- 1:29:21Speaker 7: great offensive coordinator or is he a great head coach?
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: Absolutely fair question.
- 1:29:26Speaker 7: He's one of the best play callers and offensive coaches
- 1:29:29Speaker 7: in the league. There's no doubt about that.
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: But like Kevin Stefanski and Cleveland, like, that's not just
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: about Deshaun Watson. The team's not playing well. Yeah, their offense.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: You know, you kind of won this whole power struggle.
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: Like I'm gonna call the plays and you know, all
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: these guys gotta go. I gotta get You have your
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: old coaching staff the way you want it, and your
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: two and seven for the Patriots.
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: This is where the rubber meets the road for me,
- 1:29:50Speaker 5: and I thought, you know, this is about two wins,
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: Like at this point in the season, halfway through two
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: three wins, thought they'd be about here. Now it's are
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: people buying into the system, Are the coaches learning from
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: their mistakes? Are players improving under this coaching staff? You
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: know that's I'm fine if they only win a few
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: more games this season. But we talked about it all
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: off season. What it looks like, it peaks at the end,
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: it starts to look better, there's something some.
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: Of the details.
- 1:30:15Speaker 6: Well, I think I think. I think James's point is,
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: can anything look good if you're a two win team?
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: See, I think you can. I think you can look
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: But like I think Arizona last year didn't win a
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: lot of games, but a lot of people said that
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: Gannon really had that team buying in, playing hard and
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: not beating itself. Now, I didn't watch Arizona every week,
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: so maybe that's garbage. Maybe they did. Maybe they did
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: beat themselves constantly. We get but like, I'm sorry, kicking
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: off into the wind you're not taking the wind in
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: overtime is an inexcusable gaff. Like I want an end
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: to the coaching country. Evan had a ten minute dissertation
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: on three glaring mistakes that the coaching mad trying to
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: know what I'm like, you know, but I'm saying like
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: it was valid, Like I don't know that, you know.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: I think that you can be a bad team and
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: still be well coached. I think the Detroit Lions the
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: first year at Dan Campbell. Yeah, yeah, Like I don't.
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: I'm not a huge Dan Campbell guy. I think he's
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: more of a ra ra kind of psychopath. But works.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: I think that he showed signs of toughness and instilled
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: like sort of an identity on that team. In a
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: three thirteen and one season, you.
- 1:31:28Speaker 7: Just want to see the coaching set the players up
- 1:31:31Speaker 7: for the best chance to win the game. And it
- 1:31:33Speaker 7: just feels like the decision before the game to start
- 1:31:36Speaker 7: Laden Robinson and then the decisions in game with the
- 1:31:38Speaker 7: win and all that, like these are things that you
- 1:31:41Speaker 7: already have an uphill battle, like you're already.
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: It wasn't a Belichick that said, you know, coaches can
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: only really lose games. I mean, I know he's being humble,
- 1:31:52Speaker 6: but you.
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: Don't like believe that he believes that he said it.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: I know he said it, but you don't believe that
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: he believes it.
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: But I get kind of the point is it's, you know,
- 1:32:01Speaker 6: you can put all these players in the best position possible,
- 1:32:05Speaker 6: but eventually they have to go out and make the plays.
- 1:32:08Speaker 6: But you can do things to make good players lose
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: games as.
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: A coach, you know what I mean, if you don't
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: put him in.
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: The right h But I mean, I just say, I'm
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: willing to accept some bumps in the road. I mean,
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: this is what we signed up for when you're hiring
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: drama who hadn't like coached the football team before. So
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: but it has to get better, Like we can't. I mean,
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: Paul said if it was you know, twenty twenty five
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: when we watched that Drake May, he wouldn't be happy
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: if we're watching these kind of coaching mistakes happen next year,
- 1:32:34Speaker 5: Like that's not acceptable anymore.
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: Got at some point, Gerard has to show what he
- 1:32:38Speaker 6: does well, Like for the quarterback, he's making mistakes, but
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: we see what he can do well, right right, we
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: see that, Wow, there's room for improvement here. But we
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: can see how it will happen with Gerard as a
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: head coach. You know, it's not as evident because he's
- 1:32:55Speaker 6: not out there. But what does he do well?
- 1:32:57Speaker 5: What is he?
- 1:32:58Speaker 6: You know, I think we all talked about it before,
- 1:33:00Speaker 6: Like is he a defensive tactician?
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: Is he a raw ra guy?
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: Which is okay?
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: Like what is he as a coach when you're doing it?
- 1:33:08Speaker 6: Is his identity?
- 1:33:10Speaker 9: Like that?
- 1:33:11Speaker 17: You know?
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: And selfishly like I'm looking at like even this game like, yeah,
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: it's two and seven, who cares? But I care, Like
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: you have a matchup like this, I want to watch
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: Drake May and Kayleb Williams getting a shootout like that
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: would be awesome. Selfishly, I'd like to see if Chicago
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: can sort of, you know, shake off the doldrums from
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: that Hail Mary that clearly they took into Arizona last
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: week and played a lousy game. I'd like to see
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Caleb Williams play well and Drake May play well and
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: have these two guys that conceivably could be the face
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: of the league five years from now. Wouldn't that be
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: like a lot of fun to watch it? Like, it
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: doesn't have to be Oh woe with us with two
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: and seven, We have nothing to watch, You have nothing
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: to be excited about. I think there were a lot
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: of things to be excited about on Sunday, and I'd
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: like to see more of them, if you know, if
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: Chicago can play well as you know that, I hope
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: we put up a fifty burger on our No, but
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: wouldn't it.
- 1:34:06Speaker 7: Let's just make sure we have the win in the
- 1:34:07Speaker 7: winning city, like, let's get it.
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: No, No, listen, winning the game is like they need
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: to try to win the game. I get that, But
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: wouldn't you feel better if you felt like Chicago came
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: to play and you beat them? Sure than if Chicago
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: continues to ro like they did on Sunday, I think
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: they will too. I think they felt bad for themselves
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: and they had a bad Plus, Arizona's playing well right now.
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: I like it came to play in our defense shut
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: him down.
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: But anyway, yes, yes, like they came to play, but Chicago,
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: like really played hard. They didn't play hard. I watched it,
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: you know, the game a fifty three yard touchdown with
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: four seconds left. They did run fifty three yard run.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: It was like remember the Titans when the game winning
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: touchdown is a seventy five yard run backside Georgia.
- 1:34:50Speaker 6: Fun fact, did you know that the Windy City, the
- 1:34:55Speaker 6: nickname for Chicago, is not because of the wind The
- 1:34:59Speaker 6: Chicago is actually like the fourth or fifth windy a
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: city in the country. It's it's because of politics, because
- 1:35:05Speaker 6: of the bluster of the politicians. Oh back of the
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: turn of.
- 1:35:08Speaker 7: The I was writing this morning and I was thinking,
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: like the Chicago people in Chicago hate the Windy City
- 1:35:14Speaker 7: as much as we hate bean Town, Like is it
- 1:35:16Speaker 7: like like because it's gonna write Windy City. But I
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: was like, if they hate Windy City, I keep one
- 1:35:22Speaker 7: of those.
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: City things that you say the people that are from
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: their hate. Yeah.
- 1:35:26Speaker 6: So if you're from San Francisco, that's it. You hate
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: when people call you San fran Oh, I thought it
- 1:35:32Speaker 6: was Frisco. Oh, maybe it's Frisco. Maybe it's Frisco. Right.
- 1:35:36Speaker 6: They hate when they call it Frisco. And people from
- 1:35:38Speaker 6: Oregon hate it when you say, well that's wrong, it's wrong,
- 1:35:43Speaker 6: but a lot of people do it.
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: Yeah, so Frisky Cardinals. Remember when I was talking to
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: you about all my various centers over the years, Dennis
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: O'donnald's john Shenna. Yeah, you know, put it right there.
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: So I'm playing golf on Saturday up in New Hampshire
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: and you know, get to the next tea boxes, like
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: three guys on the tea box and I have like
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: a PVD baseball show. Peebt. Did you grow up there? No? No,
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: you know, I actually grew up in Everard.
- 1:36:11Speaker 12: Oh.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: Everett. We used to because years ago we used to
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: coach UMass Lowell football. We had a great kid from
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: Everett John Shanna. I swear to god, I haven't thought
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: of a guy in thirty five years, like the guys
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: like waxing Poe about John Shanna out of nowhere. I
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: was like, yeah, he just told a.
- 1:36:29Speaker 6: Story about him on Then.
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: I thought, you're gonna say, I got some guy bending
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: over at the tea box.
- 1:36:35Speaker 6: I heard up is.
- 1:36:36Speaker 4: I actually said for the guy, I go great center
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: put it right there every time he started laughing Speaking.
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: Of Rere Rands, I had been watching that Aaron Hernandez.
- 1:36:47Speaker 6: Oh yeah, documentary, a lot of pair.
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: But where's this counce?
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: But I was gonna say, I said, I've seen the
- 1:36:52Speaker 6: first six episodes. It's not as bad as I thought
- 1:36:55Speaker 6: it was.
- 1:36:56Speaker 5: Who plays Cursion?
- 1:36:57Speaker 8: Is there?
- 1:36:57Speaker 23: Is there?
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: Yeah? They haven't yet. Yeah, but it's not as bad.
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: That'll be episode ten if he doesn't have a sad
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: card credit.
- 1:37:06Speaker 6: What are you up to?
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: As Fred Kirk?
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: I watch it weekly, I'm caught up.
- 1:37:09Speaker 6: Yeah, so I I tomorrow is episode nine. Yeah, I've
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: only seen six, but it's it's not not terrible.
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: It's actually not no like from like an unintentional comedy perspective,
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: or like a.
- 1:37:19Speaker 6: Good television comedy. I think was was craft in uh
- 1:37:24Speaker 6: In Belichick was a little bit.
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: So I think the guy that does Belichick is spot off. Yeah, clips, well,
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: I just can't do the football.
- 1:37:32Speaker 6: I don't know when he's in his office, you know,
- 1:37:35Speaker 6: rocking out to bon Jovi by himself.
- 1:37:38Speaker 7: Yeah, the episode is that theyd episode. There's some football
- 1:37:44Speaker 7: movies that have the nailed the actual football. This TV
- 1:37:50Speaker 7: show is not one of them.
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: What the Hernandas one?
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but they use actual and by the way, not only.
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: Did they use actual Florida footage, they're using actual Patriots footage.
- 1:38:00Speaker 6: So you'll see the wide angle and it's Tom Brady
- 1:38:03Speaker 6: throwing Aaron Hernanez and then they zoom in and it's
- 1:38:05Speaker 6: back to the actual characters. But they use the real
- 1:38:09Speaker 6: NFL footage.
- 1:38:10Speaker 7: I don't know. I saw him try to run around
- 1:38:13Speaker 7: it close up. It's that, you know, but the wise
- 1:38:16Speaker 7: get somebody that's in shape.
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: But the right angle, the white angle, is the actual footage.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: So what football movie would you say? Is the other way?
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: Like they got the football?
- 1:38:26Speaker 7: The best football movie for the actual little jobs is
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: grid Iron Gang with the rock is the is the coxhibit? Yeah?
- 1:38:35Speaker 4: And exhibit is that the one that they filmed him.
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: I don't know that was the game.
- 1:38:40Speaker 7: This is like he's in the prison and he takes
- 1:38:43Speaker 7: the premise of the prison and they form a football team.
- 1:38:47Speaker 7: And a lot of those kids were former D one
- 1:38:50Speaker 7: football players and they all actually play pretty good football.
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: Can you watch it? What was the one where Trolton
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: Heston is the quarterback and he ends up getting killed
- 1:38:59Speaker 6: at the end of the game. No, no, no, he
- 1:39:03Speaker 6: gets hit in the help He gets hit in the
- 1:39:05Speaker 6: at the end, and like at the end, they show
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: like blood coming out of his ear.
- 1:39:09Speaker 8: Like you.
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: I would also say the number one numumber one.
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:39:17Speaker 7: Friday Night Lights the movie is also pretty good actual football.
- 1:39:23Speaker 7: A lot of those kids played college football and and
- 1:39:26Speaker 7: stuff like that.
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: What about Black Sunday? Remember Black Sunday, paul I do?
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh that was that was actual footage of Steelers
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: and Cowboys. Yeah. In the Super Bowl.
- 1:39:35Speaker 6: I like the hot yeah. Yeah.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: The other funny thing this Aaron Show is doing is
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: they're showing Jellette Stadium from the helicopter shots when they
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: you know, show the area, but then they go to
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: practice and they're practicing alongside like ninety three.
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: It's it's pretty funny to see.
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: Yeah, sowaet. They're just getting the murder in the second
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: and last episode. Well it's the third murder, all right.
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say that kind of ends shortly
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: after that. I'm not sure if you remember right.
- 1:40:05Speaker 5: Next episode's prison in episode ten is Kirk Mainhan kills him.
- 1:40:10Speaker 6: Let's go back to the TPX hotline. PATS five hundred.
- 1:40:14Speaker 6: Sam is in North Carolina. What's up? Sam?
- 1:40:17Speaker 21: Sam?
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: Sam? Sing it from me?
- 1:40:21Speaker 6: Sam in North Carolina, Ano, he's gone. Now, okay, we'll
- 1:40:26Speaker 6: go down to phil We'll go up to Philadelphia, Willem
- 1:40:29Speaker 6: and Pelham. What's up William?
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: Thanks?
- 1:40:32Speaker 6: Fred?
- 1:40:32Speaker 8: How you doing all right?
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: All right?
- 1:40:36Speaker 8: First and foremost uh acknowledged the queen in the room. Hey,
- 1:40:39Speaker 8: that's how you're doing.
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: He's not here today Thursdays.
- 1:40:45Speaker 8: Oh okay, okay, anyway, let me just get right to it. Basically,
- 1:40:51Speaker 8: I don't need to see anything more about Drake may
- 1:40:53Speaker 8: I after what he did yesterday this Sunday. I'm I'm good,
- 1:40:58Speaker 8: I'm fine. I do not need to see anything more
- 1:41:01Speaker 8: about He's a dual threat quarterback to me, and I
- 1:41:05Speaker 8: just want to see better, better pieces around him, you
- 1:41:08Speaker 8: know what I mean. I don't want to see like
- 1:41:09Speaker 8: enoughing agular or or kJ I was born or Austin
- 1:41:13Speaker 8: Hooper No, no, come on, or Adam feeling that I'm
- 1:41:17Speaker 8: hearing that they talking about trading for a veteran that's
- 1:41:21Speaker 8: thirty thirty four, thirty five years old. Come on, Southern
- 1:41:24Speaker 8: sh'all can do better than I mean, come on, listen.
- 1:41:26Speaker 8: I mean, five years into this, you know he needs
- 1:41:30Speaker 8: better talenting. I mean, y'all, can I even disagree with that?
- 1:41:34Speaker 8: I mean, this is every year, you know, and last,
- 1:41:38Speaker 8: my last sake is this with Paul. Like Paul, you
- 1:41:40Speaker 8: know the past two times I called here and you
- 1:41:43Speaker 8: usually say something after I get off the phone, you know,
- 1:41:47Speaker 8: and I'll be like, okay, and I want to give
- 1:41:49Speaker 8: you a push back to what my question was though,
- 1:41:51Speaker 8: and I can't even do that because I'm off now.
- 1:41:53Speaker 8: So I'm listening to what you're saying. Like when I
- 1:41:56Speaker 8: was talking about alien.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: Wolf, I don't.
- 1:42:02Speaker 8: Want to protect alien Wolf and whatnot, And then I
- 1:42:05Speaker 8: was like, why is he even protecting this joy?
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: I don't care if it's I want to protect Elliott Wolf,
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: Well, listen to him.
- 1:42:12Speaker 8: I'm asking. I'm asking you, Like when when you was
- 1:42:15Speaker 8: like no one said anything about alien wolf baby good
- 1:42:18Speaker 8: or that you haven't heard anything. I don't care a
- 1:42:20Speaker 8: far as you heard anything. What I'm saying is this,
- 1:42:23Speaker 8: if he just got the job, I you may tell
- 1:42:26Speaker 8: me out of free agency you couldn't even make a
- 1:42:29Speaker 8: dynamic trade or nothing. And you're gonna give this man
- 1:42:31Speaker 8: who kJ as one as what that's on social media.
- 1:42:35Speaker 8: We got a second round pick uh Jail and Poko
- 1:42:39Speaker 8: that got the best hands in the league, though, but
- 1:42:41Speaker 8: can't can't prove it though you're a rookie. You ain't
- 1:42:45Speaker 8: getting nothing nothing. You gotta just you gotta look, you
- 1:42:49Speaker 8: gotta put your you gotta put you down the books.
- 1:42:51Speaker 8: Let's go. And I mean all that thought don't mean nothing.
- 1:42:53Speaker 8: Even my boy Jailing Javon Baker, I can make make
- 1:42:57Speaker 8: what people in a wheelchairs stand up.
- 1:42:59Speaker 7: We did run two good routes on Sunday.
- 1:43:01Speaker 6: I want okay. So you're so okay. So you're saying
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: Elliott Wilf is picking the wrong guy. He's not looking in.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: Who's saying he's picking the right one, the right wrong?
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: Well so far, so far, the people he's picked in
- 1:43:16Speaker 6: this draft have not worked out that well, except for
- 1:43:19Speaker 6: of course the most important one.
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: Exactly well, that the only one that didn't require any thought.
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: Wait, man, a lot of people are saying trade down, Well,
- 1:43:28Speaker 6: that would have been dumb. Just well, people are dumb
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: that just one more?
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: Don't trade down in a three quarterback draft at number three?
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: What's that?
- 1:43:36Speaker 27: Well?
- 1:43:37Speaker 8: One more for you, Fred, And this is for a
- 1:43:39Speaker 8: far too well. I would love to see Caleb Williams
- 1:43:42Speaker 8: go against Drake May. I just want Drake May weapons
- 1:43:45Speaker 8: to be just as good as Caleb Williams weapons. Where's
- 1:43:48Speaker 8: our dj Moore? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: Where? Where's out of bound?
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: Where Roman? Do's that? Who's that? You know what I mean?
- 1:43:57Speaker 8: Let's even the paddle, let's even the battlefleel here, you
- 1:43:59Speaker 8: know what I mean? Because Drake don't have those weapons.
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: Man, he don't, No, he doesn't. Just I mean I
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: would like to see that.
- 1:44:05Speaker 8: I just want the team to be eaten. I mean
- 1:44:07Speaker 8: on both ends.
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: I just I just don't know. You can't talk, you
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: gotta you know. I don't know, Like who is defending
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: the refusal to get an offensive tackle as an example,
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: something I've railed against it and gotten killed for on Twitter. Right,
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: who's defending the fact that they don't have any tackles.
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: Who's defending Elliott Wolf period.
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: This is something that I feel like has happened this
- 1:44:35Speaker 7: year that I've seen this turn that people think that
- 1:44:38Speaker 7: people like us in the media are like going easy
- 1:44:42Speaker 7: on Mayo and on Elliott Wolf. And I don't think
- 1:44:45Speaker 7: we are, first of all, but I would say, just second, like,
- 1:44:49Speaker 7: it's been one off season.
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: So yeah, but it hasn't been good. It hasn't been good.
- 1:44:54Speaker 7: I don't know anyone who says it has been right,
- 1:44:56Speaker 7: and we've all said exactly what you're saying. But my
- 1:44:58Speaker 7: point is is like, you know, no, he doesn't have
- 1:45:02Speaker 7: all these weapons, but I am willing to at least
- 1:45:05Speaker 7: give them another year in another off season to try
- 1:45:09Speaker 7: to put those pieces around him because they needed to
- 1:45:11Speaker 7: use their top draft pick on the quarterback this time around.
- 1:45:14Speaker 7: So let's see what they do eventually in two to
- 1:45:16Speaker 7: three years, if it's still where we're at, then they're
- 1:45:19Speaker 7: going to be looking for new leadership.
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: Like it's that simple. Yeah, Just speaking for myself, the
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: only one that I'm so of easy on is me,
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: Like I accentuate the plays that he makes, not the
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: ones that he.
- 1:45:31Speaker 6: Doesn't let me ask, I'm just posing this.
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: I'm guilty of that. I'm just posing this.
- 1:45:35Speaker 6: I hope I don't get walked out of the building
- 1:45:37Speaker 6: after I say this, but walked. I'm assuming that over
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: the past four or five years that haven't been good here,
- 1:45:45Speaker 6: that Robert Kraft knows who's been actually picking these players,
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: Like we all assume it's Bill, right, But what if,
- 1:45:56Speaker 6: like Bill was actually collaborating, What if he was listening
- 1:46:00Speaker 6: to Matt Grow and Elliott Wolf? Would Craft know that?
- 1:46:04Speaker 6: Would Craft know that? Yeah, you know, Cole Strange really
- 1:46:08Speaker 6: was a Matt Grow pick. It wasn't Bill, Like does
- 1:46:11Speaker 6: he know that? And if he did know that, would
- 1:46:14Speaker 6: Elliott Will still be here or would he have kicked
- 1:46:18Speaker 6: him out the door with Bill Belichick.
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: So I'm hoping that the fact that Elliott.
- 1:46:25Speaker 6: Will and Matt Grow are still here means that they
- 1:46:28Speaker 6: really didn't have as much say as you would have
- 1:46:31Speaker 6: hoped in the past.
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: But I don't know that.
- 1:46:33Speaker 6: I don't know that, but I'm hoping Robert Kraft does. Yeah,
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: I mean, I.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: Think I talked a little about this last week where
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: you don't know for sure, but it's I think you
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: know to your point, Fred, if you knew that Taekwon,
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: Thornton and Cole Strange were pound the table picks for
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: when Bill was allowing people, you know, I mean, it
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: never came out that he was allowing these guys to
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: really rise up and make decisions like that. But you know,
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: it is part of like the scouting department. It's a
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: whole department, you know, And I feel like it's it's
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: there's a machine and it kind of like kicks it
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: up from the bottom and all of a sudden, the
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: handful of names come up, and then you know it's
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: up to the guys at that.
- 1:47:08Speaker 6: I'm sure they all build that board together. Yeah, and
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: that's the board that they go by. But like, look,
- 1:47:13Speaker 6: the bottom line though, is that how many years have
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: we had bad drafts?
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: And that's just the lifeblood of the franchise. And as
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: much as you want to give Elliot Wolf time like
- 1:47:23Speaker 5: time is running out because there's no draft picks from
- 1:47:26Speaker 5: the last couple of years that that you can really salvage.
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: So you know, if these if this draft ends up
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: being as bad as it looks right now, which it
- 1:47:32Speaker 5: might not, I mean, you know, guys might come back.
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: It's it's certainly possible.
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: But that's it's it's it's hard. It's gonna be hard.
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: It's gonna be hard for them to you know, come
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: out of just getting Drake May out of their first draft.
- 1:47:43Speaker 6: I just it just the.
- 1:47:45Speaker 7: Optimistic view is just that this coming up off season,
- 1:47:49Speaker 7: they're gonna have a boatload of cap space and they're
- 1:47:51Speaker 7: probably gonna have high draft picks in each round. Again,
- 1:47:54Speaker 7: maybe they even get to negotiate a trade down scenario
- 1:47:58Speaker 7: at the top of the draft because they don't need
- 1:47:59Speaker 7: a quarterback and they're gonna have a lot of resources
- 1:48:02Speaker 7: at their fingertips. That I think this year, as much
- 1:48:05Speaker 7: as you know, it frustrates us, it frustrates William And
- 1:48:08Speaker 7: this year was kind of a reset year. Like let's see,
- 1:48:11Speaker 7: let's take the quarterback because he fell in our laps,
- 1:48:13Speaker 7: but let's see, you know what the rest of this
- 1:48:15Speaker 7: roster looks like. And you know, just as a draft person,
- 1:48:19Speaker 7: like I don't really Leiden Robinson not working out in
- 1:48:23Speaker 7: the fourth round, Like I'm not gonna kill for it.
- 1:48:25Speaker 7: I'm not gonna like Jalen Polk is a fair second guest.
- 1:48:28Speaker 7: That's one, but like I just look at some of
- 1:48:31Speaker 7: these other picks, and it's just like, if you're counting
- 1:48:33Speaker 7: on fourth and fifth and sixth and seventh round picks,
- 1:48:36Speaker 7: like turning the tide here, then we're gonna be Robert Kraft.
- 1:48:42Speaker 6: And if I don't already know the answer this last offseason,
- 1:48:46Speaker 6: I'm asking grow in Wolf, how did you feel about
- 1:48:49Speaker 6: the last four years? Were you on board?
- 1:48:51Speaker 15: Like?
- 1:48:51Speaker 6: What what would you have done in that first round
- 1:48:54Speaker 6: three years ago? What would you in the second round?
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: You know, like, and obviously now it's easy for Wolf
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: to say cold strange. The Rams were right to laugh
- 1:49:04Speaker 6: at us, you know, but like, I hope he knows
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: the real answer to those questions.
- 1:49:10Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I mean the last two drafts they've picked,
- 1:49:13Speaker 7: obviously Drake and Christian Gonzales with their first round picks.
- 1:49:17Speaker 7: I think those are both goods first round picks.
- 1:49:20Speaker 6: Yeah, But if you're gonna give them credit for Gonzales
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: last year, then do you give them that?
- 1:49:26Speaker 7: I know, I'm just saying, like, it's more about like
- 1:49:29Speaker 7: the fact that not every draft pick is going to
- 1:49:33Speaker 7: work out, of course not, and lucky to get two
- 1:49:35Speaker 7: good ones, right, So the fact of the matter is
- 1:49:38Speaker 7: is that like they come out of this draft and
- 1:49:40Speaker 7: Drake is a franchise quarterback. This entire draft has a
- 1:49:44Speaker 7: success like they I don't the rest of the draft
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: picks could all be busted. But if Drake May is
- 1:49:50Speaker 7: a franchise quarterback, then then they did their job.
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: I think that's being generous.
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: I mean, the most important thing is absolutely what have
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: been said. It's not so much like if Jalen Polk
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: and Javon Baker neither one of them can play.
- 1:50:06Speaker 6: Right, that's a bad and that's and that's different than well,
- 1:50:10Speaker 6: Poke isn't as good as we hope we're talking about if.
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm saying he's Taekwon Thornton or Aaron dobbson, you know,
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: one of these other second.
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: Round with Jackson and you know, like I go back
- 1:50:21Speaker 6: to Cole Strange, that was an overreach that I don't
- 1:50:25Speaker 6: know who'se pick that was. But you didn't need to
- 1:50:28Speaker 6: do that, you know, two or three rounds later.
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: Obviously, if the quarterback hits, I can make up for
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: that bad draft, sure, you know, so I can. I
- 1:50:40Speaker 4: have the talent in place. Now, Okay, I missed with
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: your team, b if you had you know, but yeah,
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: but but he's going to allow you the chance to
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: erase it and do a duel over and say, Okay,
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: I was wrong that time, But now I got these
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: guys that are gonna let's.
- 1:50:56Speaker 7: Just see what their offseason looks like when it's not
- 1:51:00Speaker 7: their first year on the job and they're taking over
- 1:51:02Speaker 7: Aaron I win football fair enough, and they have the quarterback,
- 1:51:05Speaker 7: they feel like they have him in place. Look as
- 1:51:09Speaker 7: someone that loves the draft and pours over the draft
- 1:51:12Speaker 7: every single year, like predicting what these guys after the
- 1:51:15Speaker 7: top fifty are going to turn out to be it
- 1:51:18Speaker 7: is really, really, really hard. So I do have some
- 1:51:22Speaker 7: grace with that because I try.
- 1:51:24Speaker 15: To do it.
- 1:51:24Speaker 6: I am not on the fire Elliott Wolf bandwagon. I'm
- 1:51:27Speaker 6: with you, let's see what he does this offseason. But
- 1:51:30Speaker 6: I would like to know the answer to the question,
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: how on board were the guys that are still here
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: with what's happened in the last four years and what
- 1:51:38Speaker 6: really did happen? What was it like, you know, when
- 1:51:41Speaker 6: Bill they when they chose Mac Jones and Bill says,
- 1:51:46Speaker 6: you know, almost to the camera, you know, we're all
- 1:51:48Speaker 6: on board with this. Was that a snide kind of
- 1:51:51Speaker 6: shot at Robert Kraft or was he really more collaborative
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: those days. I don't know, but I would like to know.
- 1:51:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm not like trying to purposely defend Elliott Wolf.
- 1:52:01Speaker 7: I just I just feel like, you know, the biggest
- 1:52:04Speaker 7: thing to me is that they have the quarterback now
- 1:52:07Speaker 7: and moving forward everything can be about now building the
- 1:52:11Speaker 7: roster around the QB. So all of your resources can
- 1:52:14Speaker 7: now be thrown at those problems. So let's give him
- 1:52:18Speaker 7: an off season to see, you know, when he has money,
- 1:52:21Speaker 7: when he has draft capital to add a top receiver,
- 1:52:24Speaker 7: to add a left tack, to add another pass rusher. Like,
- 1:52:27Speaker 7: if he whiffs on everything, or whiffs on most of it,
- 1:52:30Speaker 7: then we're gonna be talking about general managers.
- 1:52:33Speaker 6: Just as important, I think as the draft is how
- 1:52:36Speaker 6: does he get free agency in here? How does he
- 1:52:39Speaker 6: lure them into this team that is probably gonna at
- 1:52:42Speaker 6: best win four games this year? How does he get
- 1:52:45Speaker 6: these free agents to come here?
- 1:52:46Speaker 7: Yeah, we were talking to Yeah, absolutely, but.
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: He needs home runs. He needs home runs games. I
- 1:52:54Speaker 5: think everything you guys said is true. But at a
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: certain point, you can't just hit one player every offseason.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: And we got that.
- 1:53:01Speaker 5: We like, he has to hit a bunch of home
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: runs next spring. Like free agency, you know, when we
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: knew we were going to build around the cornerback quarterback
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: last year, you still missed on a guard and a
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: tackle and maybe two receivers.
- 1:53:14Speaker 27: Like I get, I mean, I get, but like if
- 1:53:18Speaker 27: it turns out, I'm sorry. My confidence is not high
- 1:53:20Speaker 27: right now. So I'm based on what we've seen over
- 1:53:22Speaker 27: the last year. My confidence is not.
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: You're not to not have confidence. I just want to
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: be fair because I've been one of these guys, Like
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: you know, a guy will you know, have a good
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: game in his third or fourth game, and we just
- 1:53:34Speaker 4: they got him set. I mean, people were saying it
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: about polk off of the summer right nothing even in
- 1:53:40Speaker 4: the preseason games. It was just training camp. Yeah, people
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: were penciling them in as as like that, and now
- 1:53:46Speaker 4: all of a sudden, I think it's gone completely the
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: other way where he's got no chance to rebound from this.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: You know, I saw there was a thing on Twitter
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: today that had him like one hundred and twenty seventh
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: out of one hundred and twenty seven qualifying receivers on
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: PFF in terms of like three or four different categories
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: like you know, separation and production yards. After you know,
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: the guy's played nine games. He's been in the NFL
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: for nine games, much like I thought it was direction.
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: Und I understand Mike. That's why I said, Mike's not
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: wrong to not have He's.
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: Gonna lose his blog of emeritus badge O.
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: I understand why Mike is not confident in it, But
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: I I thought it was kind of silly to declare
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: him a hit based on him catching some passes in
- 1:54:31Speaker 4: the training camp practices, just like I think it's a
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: little silly now to say there's no way he can
- 1:54:36Speaker 4: bounce back from this, right, He's it's not looked good, right,
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: and and.
- 1:54:40Speaker 7: I don't necessarily have faith. I just have no choice.
- 1:54:45Speaker 7: It's like I'm not sitting here saying that I have
- 1:54:47Speaker 7: all this faith in the world that they're going to
- 1:54:48Speaker 7: do the right thing. But Elliott Wolf is going to
- 1:54:51Speaker 7: be the general manager next offseason. He's going to have
- 1:54:53Speaker 7: one hundred million dollars in cap space, probably a top
- 1:54:57Speaker 7: five pick in the draft, and they're going to give
- 1:54:59Speaker 7: him the keys to go ahead and and and do
- 1:55:02Speaker 7: the thing. So let's see what he does. Like that's
- 1:55:04Speaker 7: all that, That's all we can do.
- 1:55:05Speaker 6: Mike's in Dallas. What's up Mike Michael, Yeah, what's up,
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: trot into the phone.
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: Yes, go for it.
- 1:55:16Speaker 21: Uh So, the NFL trade deadline and the stains traders
- 1:55:20Speaker 21: for marsha On Latimore and seems like the Pats aren't
- 1:55:23Speaker 21: going to do anything too serious. But I don't really
- 1:55:26Speaker 21: understand the thought process behind that. When you have a
- 1:55:29Speaker 21: bad team that you have to just start selling off
- 1:55:32Speaker 21: the few good pieces you have, like a Kindred, like
- 1:55:35Speaker 21: a Kendrick Bourne for example. Why not be more aggressive
- 1:55:37Speaker 21: and go back into the market and try to add
- 1:55:40Speaker 21: talent instead of using draft picks and kind of praying
- 1:55:43Speaker 21: that it worked out.
- 1:55:44Speaker 6: I think, yeah, So we talked about that the other day,
- 1:55:47Speaker 6: and it's a good point. It's just that you if
- 1:55:50Speaker 6: you're a bad team and you're trying to build for
- 1:55:52Speaker 6: the future, you just want to make sure that the
- 1:55:54Speaker 6: talent you add isn't a quick fix, because there is
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: no fix for this year. It's somebody who's going to
- 1:55:59Speaker 6: be part of that rebuilding process. Those guys are probably
- 1:56:02Speaker 6: a little harder to find right now.
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: But that's Evans's thing with Montese Sweat, like you have
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: to you get a guy and then you have to
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: be willing to resign them.
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, I think those kind of moves two or more.
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: You kind of have a guy you like, you know,
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: I think we all do the draft. We have like
- 1:56:15Speaker 5: certain guys that you just kind of like you have
- 1:56:16Speaker 5: an eye on him. He's not really working out there,
- 1:56:18Speaker 5: and it's not a name that any of us will.
- 1:56:21Speaker 4: All the time. I wouldn't advocate selling off good piece.
- 1:56:23Speaker 4: I mean, this sound is very harsh, but I don't
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: think they have a lot of good pieces. So like,
- 1:56:29Speaker 4: I'm not advocating like I wouldn't. Let's say that Christian
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: Barbo didn't have his blood clots, I wouldn't say, well,
- 1:56:34Speaker 4: he could get us, he could get us a high
- 1:56:36Speaker 4: draft pick. No, Christian Gonzalez. I'm not interested in trading
- 1:56:39Speaker 4: Christian Gonzales. But I'm sorry, Like you're bevy of third
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: slash fourth receivers, if you if if somebody wants one
- 1:56:48Speaker 4: in particular, you can have them if I can get
- 1:56:51Speaker 4: a draft pitchure for him.
- 1:56:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I just I thought I think it was a
- 1:56:54Speaker 7: rap sheet like kind of phrased it this way, you know,
- 1:56:57Speaker 7: getting a head start on free agency by trading now instead,
- 1:57:02Speaker 7: And and everybody says, well, you know, Mike Lombardy and
- 1:57:06Speaker 7: Bill were killing that line of thinking. Actually I don't
- 1:57:09Speaker 7: know if Bill was, but Mike Lombardi was, which means
- 1:57:11Speaker 7: Bill was. And Mike Lombardi's point was, well, just sign
- 1:57:15Speaker 7: him in free agency. But it's like, yeah, you're competing
- 1:57:19Speaker 7: with all these other teams, and just like we saw
- 1:57:21Speaker 7: with Calvin Ridley, like he might not pick you, Like
- 1:57:24Speaker 7: what if.
- 1:57:24Speaker 4: You just and I'm not telling you this would happen,
- 1:57:27Speaker 4: but what if there was some way you could go
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: back and you got Calvin Ridley in a trade from
- 1:57:32Speaker 4: Jacksonville at the trade deadline last year and he doesn't
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: want to be with the Patriots, he doesn't really like
- 1:57:39Speaker 4: the idea of being in Foxborough, but you have him
- 1:57:41Speaker 4: in your system for eight eight weeks and he's like,
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: I kind of like the way they do things around here,
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: and I.
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: Have guys is right there.
- 1:57:49Speaker 4: Maybe now he's a little more interested in resigning for you.
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: That's the thought process. If the guy won't re sign
- 1:57:57Speaker 4: with you after you traded for him, then I'm sorry,
- 1:58:01Speaker 4: this very little chance he's going to sign with you
