- 0:00The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network. All Right,
- 0:03people, take out your notebooks and pencils and sride rolls. You're listening to
- 0:07to tech Talk Radio with true geeks. And by the way, I'm Basider
- 0:12and I'm a kig Do and welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:18I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, I'm Matt Jones, and I'm
- 0:22Justin Lemme. All right, once again. Last week of the show,
- 0:24Justin ordered the one Wheel pint X, which is a kind of a skateboard
- 0:30with one wheel right in the middle of it. We wanted to know how
- 0:33the experience was once again, how much was this thing? It was out
- 0:36the door after taxes, it was like sixteen hundred dollars. Yeah, so
- 0:42it's pretty expensive. And then I invested another I don't know, I think
- 0:46I want to say, about one hundred and fifty into it, adding some
- 0:49accessories on it. But so I got it on Friday, after we talked
- 0:54about on the show. I wanted to ride it. But I have been
- 0:56watching some videos, you know, things that people are talking about out and
- 1:00there saying, look, if you've never you know, written a snowboard or
- 1:03you know, written a skateboard. I mean I've written both. I've written
- 1:06skateboards and snowboards, but it's been twenty thirty years or so, so they're
- 1:12like, look, you might want to get somebody to help you just to
- 1:17make sure that you don't fall over. So, you know, obviously I
- 1:19got the knee pads, I got the elbow pads, the wrist guard guards,
- 1:25the helmet. It was pretty funny because Matt knew that I got my
- 1:29board that day. I texted him in the morning and said, Hey,
- 1:30I'm getting my board. But then I called him later in the afternoon.
- 1:34What are you doing working? Why what do you need? And I was
- 1:38like, oh, I I need somebody to take me to the emergency room.
- 1:42Well, and he's like what what? Why? Why? I fell
- 1:45off my one wheel and I broke my wrist and he's like, are you
- 1:49kidding me? And I was like, yeah, no, I'm just joking,
- 1:51d no. But he was expecting that I guarantee. Weren't you,
- 1:56Matt. Weren't you? Weren't you? And it was like someone to take
- 2:00me to the emergency room. My first thought was, yeah, you do,
- 2:04Yeah, yeah, I believe I fell in for that because I believed
- 2:07it too. I didn't hear the right amount of pain in his voice,
- 2:10but I did actually want him to come over because it does say that,
- 2:14you know, if you ever gotten on a board, you're gonna want some
- 2:16help. So I had him come over and I held on to his wrists
- 2:21while I got on the board, just to just to get myself balanced,
- 2:23kind of get a feel for it, and we kind of went in circles
- 2:27in the garage, you know, I just but the thing about the one
- 2:30wheel is you can't really go slow. Like, if you go slow,
- 2:32it's actually more difficult than if you go fast because you're trying to balance.
- 2:37If you're going at speed, it's a lot easier to keep your balance.
- 2:39So after going around a few times, we ventured out into the alleyway behind
- 2:44my house and I had him walk me up and down the alleyway, which
- 2:49was nice. Uh. Well, I enjoyed holding your hand. Yeah,
- 2:52I'm wondering, Matt, while you were doing this, did you have the
- 2:54song from the Courtship of Eddie's Father playing in your head? You know?
- 2:59Uh? In my head? Yeah, I had two soundtracks. One was
- 3:02like Who's a big boy? I'm a big boy, and the other going
- 3:07through my head was I That's why I'm my life. What a beautiful moment,
- 3:20But nobody puts baby in a corner. Yes, do you feel like
- 3:24you've got him mastered it now being able to move forward? Yeah? I
- 3:29mean so after after I did that with Matt and I kind of got a
- 3:32little feeling for the board, I was like, all right, I gotta
- 3:34get back to work. So I finished out my day and everything and then
- 3:38went picked up Eric and then I was like, well, I want to
- 3:39try it again, but I can't hold on to Eric because he's way way
- 3:44too small for me and I'd be like leaning over and I'd be losing my
- 3:46balance. So I was like, well, I guess I'm on my own.
- 3:49So Eric just kind of sat in the garage and watched me, and
- 3:51I was like, all right, this is it. I'm gonna do it
- 3:52myself. So I got on it, and you kind of just have to
- 3:54have that leap of faith, and I just got on it and I started
- 3:58writing, and I was like, oh, wow, okay, this is
- 4:00that's too hard. I mean, it's a little bit, but I practiced.
- 4:03I practiced. I practice the practice a couple days after a couple of
- 4:05days. So I practice on Saturday, I practice on Sunday, I practice
- 4:09on Monday. Even yesterday I actually went out and got my top speed of
- 4:15fifteen miles an hour, which doesn't sound like a lie, but on a
- 4:17one wheel, fifteen miles an hour is pretty fast, and it's pretty fast.
- 4:21Yeah. I am wondering though, As with any piece of new technology,
- 4:25a lot of us have done this. You know, you get something
- 4:27and you think this is so cool, and you use it a few times,
- 4:30Like my drone is still in the box. Are you are you gonna
- 4:35go that route you think? I mean, because you you did that,
- 4:38you bought a drone and you use it a few times. Are you gonna
- 4:43use these more often? See? That's the thing that's this is exactly what
- 4:46I always end up doing, is I'll buy something and I'll use it a
- 4:50little bit, and then I get bored of it. That's my ADHD.
- 4:54I mean, honestly, it really is the same thing. Yeah, you
- 4:56just mentioned my drone, my drone. I haven't pulled that thing out for
- 5:00probably about eight months. Yeah. I spent sixteen hundred dollars on this one
- 5:04wheel. You're damn right, I'm gonna be using it right, Yeah,
- 5:08I can imagine. It's actually a non issue with ADHD. I've actually I've
- 5:14been ADHD diagnosed since I was in the fourth grade, and it well me
- 5:18too. As they're discovering more about it nowadays, which is I think is
- 5:23great. It's not just oh, you have trouble focusing here, take it,
- 5:27take some riddling. They're discovering all the additional comorbidities and things that come
- 5:30with it. But one of the tendencies is you find something that interests you,
- 5:34like a new hobby, you hyper fixate on it for x amount of
- 5:40time. You buy all the gadgets, all the gizmos, do all the
- 5:44research, become fairly proficient during the fixation, and then when you hit a
- 5:47certain point where you're like, I'm good at this. Because you're now good
- 5:51at it, the novelty of it has worn off. You don't get that
- 5:56dopamine hit from it, and it goes in the closet and you fixate on
- 6:00something else. My wife has always wondered, why why do you do this?
- 6:04Why do you buy all of these different things and you play with it
- 6:09for like one or two months, and then you just don't play with it
- 6:11anymore. And I could never explain it until I came across a YouTube channel
- 6:15called how to ADHD, and the lady that runs it is she's ADHD as
- 6:21well, super adorable woman and very very smart, as most ADHD people are,
- 6:30and she kind of explains it in a way that my wife could understand.
- 6:34And it's very interesting because she kind of had this aha moment where she
- 6:39was like, oh wow, like that's what it is. Like She's like,
- 6:43you can't necessarily control this, and I was like, no, I
- 6:46can't. It's just the way my brain works. Like that's it, now,
- 6:49Sean. Have you ever been diagnosed with ADHD or add or anything like
- 6:54that. You know, I've never been. I've never gone in for a
- 6:57diagnosis or anything like that. So do you find yourself doing the same kind
- 7:00of things that we're describing. Just go back and listen to all the shows
- 7:05that we do. Hey it's ham Radio. Hey it's World of Warcraft.
- 7:09Hey it's drones. Hey. I could self diagnose myself right, and Hey,
- 7:15I have ADHD, but I've never been seen by a specialist. I've
- 7:19never been prescribed medication for it. Part of the tendencies of people that are
- 7:24in my field, the video engineer, the broadcast, thegery side. There's
- 7:28a lot of people with ADHD in there because it's a it's a very fine
- 7:31focused career path. And you think about it. Now, we have so
- 7:34many distractions in our lives from the norm that we may do. You have
- 7:41the and maybe like when I was growing up, yeah you read a book,
- 7:45watch television, maybe you go outside play. Now we have all these
- 7:48distractions with the technology that I think adds to that. It bundles upon that,
- 7:55and I don't know, maybe that's good, maybe that's not bad.
- 7:58Maybe that's bad, but maybe it also can be a positive by challenge,
- 8:01you know, channeling that if somebody is into art but they don't have that
- 8:05outlet here, here's an outlet with technology to create, so maybe there are
- 8:11some benefits there. So there's one interesting aspect, and we talked a little
- 8:15bit about this in pre show, was that I think that marketing and sales
- 8:22have caught on to the fact that most people have a very short attention span
- 8:28and this is why you see all of these clickbait articles. And Andy,
- 8:33you mean you you proved it. You told us in pre show, and
- 8:35you can explain it again. But it's like, this is why you see
- 8:39these articles with these headlines like, oh my god, you won't believe what
- 8:43happened. Click here, and then you go click on it and you got
- 8:48fourteen ads before you even get to the article. And the reason behind is
- 8:52because you got to catch people's attention within a millisecond. Because there's there's always
- 8:58something else they can scroll to that'll catch their attention and Andy, please expand
- 9:03upon that, Yeah you did earlier, They'll keep scrolling. We post all
- 9:07of our videos from our TV segments that we do on a weekly basis over
- 9:09thirteen News. We'll post them and you know, we get people who will
- 9:13click to see. And in the past I've done you know, the product
- 9:16shots where I'm holding up the product, and that's been cool. People will
- 9:20click through. But I found I get the most response when I show part
- 9:24of a product. I don't show the entire picture. Or maybe I'll show
- 9:30me holding a product and you see it off to the side and it will
- 9:33say, you know, Andy takes a look at you know, the new
- 9:35item to make make it more fun in the kitchen. Or the one that
- 9:41got the most is and we just recently we did one of you justin on
- 9:46your one wheel. If our listeners want to check it out, you find
- 9:48it on the front page of our website at tech talk radio dot com.
- 9:52I just asked chat GPT Dally please create an image of a man on a
- 9:56skateboard crashing holding a pint because you have the pint X and it came out
- 10:03perfect, except it's the duels. It maybe look like an alcoholic Well,
- 10:11I think that wart of the discussion from last week only true, but but
- 10:16I noticed that that's the one that got a lot of It got a lot
- 10:20of views because of that picture. I'm not showing a product. People are
- 10:26going, what is this? Previous to that, we did a story about
- 10:28AI and how how there are so many different mid Journey and Dally and you
- 10:33know, there's so many different AI sources out there. I asked AI to
- 10:37create a picture of a Avelina singing. That's the one that got the most
- 10:41hits in the last five six months because people were like, what is this
- 10:45thing? They want to see it, and they would click on it and
- 10:48see the story and they watched all the way through, you know, because
- 10:50they'll tell me if they bumped out in thirty seconds, or they watched the
- 10:54entire three minute video, and that's exactly people like to see to be teased.
- 11:00I think they're overdoing it now, but maybe that's because there's just so
- 11:03much competition in that world there is. You got to catch somebody's attention within
- 11:07a millisecond or else they're onto the next thing. I think Andy, to
- 11:11your point of like when you show like a portion of the product, I
- 11:16think that ties into fomo, that fear of missing out. Yeah, most
- 11:20people, most people only say half of the quote curiosity killed the cat,
- 11:26but the second part is but satisfaction brought him back exactly. I never heard
- 11:31that before. Yeah, And I think the people that's you, you're just
- 11:35teasing that curiosity enough that when they go in and see it, it's like,
- 11:39well, I don't want to miss out. I want to know what
- 11:41this new product is. I want to see the full picture what could it
- 11:43be? And they see it, they get that little ding and they're like,
- 11:46all right now, I know cool. Yeah, if it doesn't take
- 11:50up, because I let's face it, we've been all been on websites where
- 11:52we'll see an article and you click on it and you read, you read,
- 11:58you read, you read, and you can never recipes You all got
- 12:01it, they're the worst, but you never get to the answer of what
- 12:05it is that you were looking for. If you like recipes, like,
- 12:09what do you do because you have to weed through a bunch of stuff,
- 12:11right? I like cooking, and I got so tired of going to all
- 12:16these recipe sites and it's like, oh, this looks like a good recipe.
- 12:18It was a cold winter nineteen forty one when my Grandpather went outside,
- 12:24like, I don't need the deep biography of your great great grandfather going across
- 12:28the plains and finding this this recipe. I don't care. How did you
- 12:35bypass that? I found an extension for Chrome that auto detects when there's a
- 12:39recipe, and I go to the site and it just brings it up front
- 12:43and it's like, here's the recipe. I'm like, I think it's a
- 12:46website called this Just show me the recipe dot com or something like that.
- 12:50Oh yeah, yeah, it's good. It's actually just the recipe dot com.
- 12:52The upside for this is it's any site that does a recipe, it
- 12:56automatically pulls it and puts it up fromt Just tell me how to make the
- 13:00chicken noodle soup, Karen. That's all I want. I don't want your
- 13:05family history. I just want the recipe that it spawned. In our pre
- 13:09show, Matt, you mentioned the subreddit that actually can help people so you
- 13:13don't fall for some of this clickbait that is out there that is never going
- 13:18to give you that satisfaction. So there is a subreddit and it is called
- 13:22Saved You a Click. And if you go to that subreddit, they'll have
- 13:28like the clickbait story up front where it's like, oh my god, you
- 13:31won't believe what happened when Kim Kardashian. Okay, first off, no one
- 13:35cares what right. Then it has a little uh the pipe character and it
- 13:39has a description afterwards. You don't even have to click in the link.
- 13:43It's just like, nothing happened. It was twenty six ads. Yeah,
- 13:46have a nice day. It literally has just saved you a click because what
- 13:52you guys brought up, like you go to a to read an article and
- 13:56they'll break it up into like slideshow format where you get like a little chunk
- 14:01of it and there's like four ads and then a little chunk of it and
- 14:05I'm like, listen, man, I don't have the internet bandwidth, the
- 14:07personal time, or a desire to get through all of this. Just tell
- 14:11me, just give me the payoff. I'll tell you know. There's so
- 14:13many choices now, especially when it comes to streaming. You talk about that.
- 14:16Now we're seeing Amazon even going to be adding ads to their basic service
- 14:22now because they can make money on it. You know, they saw Netflix,
- 14:26Netflix do it, they saw Peacock do it, they saw Hulu do
- 14:30it that, well, why not Amazon? But yet people pay a premium,
- 14:33so people are really upset. Will this cause people to start dropping some
- 14:37of their paid services? I think so all we've done. Netflix was the
- 14:41originator with this when they created streaming. They were originally for our younger viewers
- 14:48Netflix and originally sent you a DBD to your mailbox that you got picked right
- 14:52one and picked it up and watched it and shipped it back. And one
- 14:54day they were like, hey, if you got the bandwidth, you should
- 14:58try this new streaming thing we have. Yeah, and they were the innovator.
- 15:01They had everything. Now you've got Let me see if I can just
- 15:05remember the one, remember the ones. I'm subscribed to Netflix, Hulu Max,
- 15:09which used to be HBO Max which used to be HBO Go Paramount plus
- 15:15crunchy Roll Peacock. All we've done is recreate cable TV exactly, is all
- 15:22we've done is recreate cable TV. And when cable first came out, long
- 15:24before I was walking the surface of the planet, the big thing was no
- 15:30ads, and ads slowly started to come in. Then cable TV is now
- 15:33filled with ads. The great thing about streaming no ads. And then they're
- 15:37like, well, we we want to do this thing called make more money.
- 15:41I'm not sure if you've heard of it. Yeah, so we're going
- 15:45to put yeah. And the thing that's got people so riled up with Amazon
- 15:50is that it's not just the people who are doing Prime Video for like six
- 15:54ninety nine a month, although they upped it to nine ninety nine. Even
- 15:58if you have like the fulllan Amazon Prime subscription shipping and all those other benefits,
- 16:03they're still like, yeah, you're gonna need to give me three dollars
- 16:07a month additional for no ads. No. In fact, I don't because
- 16:14I can do this cool thing called cancel. But you know what, Honestly,
- 16:17I found I might watch Amazon once a month, maybe twice a month.
- 16:22I don't watching it enough for it to really impact me that much.
- 16:25Sean, do you watch Amazon Prime at all? No? Very, rare
- 16:27very rarely. Yeah, maybe, Reacher, what do you what do you
- 16:32guys watch? I mean, what do you guys? Netflix? We we
- 16:36have, we use you do a lot of YouTube. We're not subscribing to
- 16:41premium, which we're really debating because children's videos are The ads on YouTube for
- 16:47children's videos are obsurd. Oh, They're horrible. And the problem with it
- 16:51is it's not just a minute, thirty second ad. If you've got a
- 16:55video that's on and your kid, you're doing stuff around the house, your
- 16:56kids watching YouTube, you come back and there's a two hour ad. What
- 17:03yeah, yeah, oh yeah, YouTube does this feature that is an ad
- 17:08that is playing in the break between your YouTube clip. That's just on the
- 17:11TV platform, right, And it's just as bad on the web web version.
- 17:15Also, the app on the phone is not as bad, so the
- 17:19experience on the app isn't as bad. Now you asked, like, what
- 17:22what a watch? Max? Uh, Curb your Enthusiasm, which starts this
- 17:29weekend. I'm looking forward to this one, right, wait, wait,
- 17:32what do you mean starts? That's like from the nineties. Well, the
- 17:36last season, yeah, the last season it was still running like this is
- 17:40it's been running this whole time. Yeah. Yes, there's actually a really
- 17:45interesting way that they did that to keep it going and keep it fresh,
- 17:48and it also added to the production time. There is no set script for
- 17:55each episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. There are general points that you have to
- 17:59get to. Ninety five percent of that show is improv yeah, really,
- 18:03but they have to do like I think it's like three or four times the
- 18:07amount of takes per scene because everyone's improving everything. Hmmm. Yeah. Uh,
- 18:14And I'm looking forward to this one. So I'll be watching that Netflix
- 18:18return of Cobra Kai for another season. I'm looking forward to that one.
- 18:23Hulu huluid Game season two. Yeah, yes, squid Game. I forgot
- 18:29about that, but Hulu. You know, the thing for me is I
- 18:32like the old television shows that you could catch on Hulu. I mean,
- 18:36that's that's pretty good. But you know what I've noticed recently, which one
- 18:38I really like is Pluto Pluto TV, the Free Pluto kind of like CLX,
- 18:45kind of like Crackle. But I love Lucy episodes. I'm sorry.
- 18:49I love old, classic, old school television, and I'm thinking, you
- 18:53know, that's pretty cool because I don't have to pay for it except give
- 18:56them my time for an ad. I don't mind that. Like if it's
- 19:00a free service, I don't mind the ads. What makes me mad,
- 19:03and I'm sure a lot of people is if you're paying a premium and yet
- 19:08you still get served ads. That's where I draw a line. Yeah,
- 19:11because they're double they're double making money on you. Yeah. Well, I
- 19:15mean that's that's basically cable cable. You're paying for cable and yet you get
- 19:18served ads. And Amazon had already started to kind of like soft test it
- 19:23where they'd throw an ad, but it was only for like their produced content.
- 19:29Is, so we don't watch like two episodes of twilight Zone. I
- 19:36had to think about that because I watch so much Futurama than in my head
- 19:40it's the scary door. Yes, but we watched like two episodes of twilight
- 19:45Zone, and then it was like, here's an ad for re ad for
- 19:48another show that we're doing. There you go moving on. I was like,
- 19:52what was that? Yeah, I am giving you my American dollars so
- 19:56that I don't have to deal with that, And they're like there is a
- 20:00solution. We require more of your American dollars. I'm like, you can
- 20:03get none of my American dollars. I'm wondering how many how many still have
- 20:07Disney. I kept Disney because I keep waiting for Mandalorian to come back.
- 20:11And that's that's the only reason I keep Disney for. I don't know why
- 20:15you're actually gonna see a change. There was an article that came out that
- 20:19Bob Eiger was basically just he was teed off on the amount Disney is just
- 20:26hemorrhaging money for Disney Plus, right, they're hemorrhaging money from it. And
- 20:30he was like, how do we make this profitable? And they were like,
- 20:32I don't know if we can. He was like, I'll shut it
- 20:33down. Then they were like, oh do that wow. So what they
- 20:38did instead is they realized that Hulu is profitable. But it was a joint
- 20:45venture between the Disney Family of Stuff and Comcast. And now if you go
- 20:52into Disney Plus you'll see you know, like Disney, Marvel, Pixart,
- 20:56and there's now a button for Hulu. And if you go into Hulu,
- 21:00the entire Hulu library is there on Disney Plus. Because those two are going
- 21:04to become one. They've been talking a lot of that with the Paramountain Showtime
- 21:08now as well certain things. So it's gonna be interesting to see how that
- 21:12plays out. So if I have a Disney Plus subscription, does that mean
- 21:17I get will in the future get access to Hulu? Yep, Hulu will
- 21:21basically go away there. They are, as far as I've seen on the
- 21:26news, are going to shutter it once the integration is finished. So they
- 21:30have they have a plan for I think it's sixteen bucks a month. You
- 21:33get ESPN plus Hulu and Disney Plus. Right, if you pay for that,
- 21:37you get who you get Hulu as is right. Yeah, But with
- 21:41that plan, it's not the Hulu Premium, it's the Hulu ads supported to
- 21:45you, right, right, So yeah, you have to pay an extra
- 21:48on top of that to get Hulu ad free. But yeah, they're they're
- 21:52gonna end up combining it and we're just gonna watch all these different streaming too.
- 21:57I mean, we saw it with HP and Discovery, We're seeing it
- 22:00with WE show Time in Paramount, We're seeing it with Disney and Hulu that
- 22:04they're just going to start merging together. I do got to say this.
- 22:08I know we got to take a break, but I want to mention that
- 22:14I know we talked about YouTube I do gotta say I am and join YouTube
- 22:18TV. Now, Sean, your family uses YouTube TV, right. YouTube
- 22:22TV is fantastic. It saved my in laws a ton of money off their
- 22:26cable bill and we get it also from them, and it's fantastic. It's
- 22:33it allows us to watch all of our live TV if we want to,
- 22:36or unlimited DVR, or it just has you know, a good selection of
- 22:41content on it. Yeah, and it does. And you're paying a yeah
- 22:44premium. I think, I'm I don't know what am I paying. I'm
- 22:45thinking like eighty five dollars a month. Yeah, but it's a good football
- 22:53season to have access to red zone. Well, I did get the red
- 22:59zone package, so I got YouTube TV, right, I keep subscribing to
- 23:02that, But then I got the ten dollars extra to get red zone during
- 23:06the football season. I have now canceled that because it's not there. But
- 23:11one cool thing I got an ad for on YouTube TV was hey, do
- 23:15you want to watch super Bowl? How about you watched super Bowl in four
- 23:18K only ten dollars a month? And I was like, Uh, yes
- 23:22please. So I signed up for the package to get the super Bowl in
- 23:26four K, and I will subsequently cancel that right after the super Bowl.
- 23:30Funny fact about that, though, is it bills you on February tenth.
- 23:37The super Bowl is February eleventh, So they set the billing date to make
- 23:44sure that you're gonna pay for it one day before the Super Bowl, and
- 23:48you're gonna pay ten dollars. We're going to get it into four K.
- 23:51We're gonna take a quick break. But I don't want to sound like clickbait,
- 23:53but I will tell you probably one of the greatest ads ever we'll be
- 24:00running during this year's Big Game, and it's one that could score somebody something
- 24:04huge, something amazing, something wonderful. We'll tell you about that coming up
- 24:10with tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, I'm
- 24:14Matt Jones, and I'm justin Lemmy. You won't believe where you can find
- 24:18us on the internet tech talk radio dot com. We've weight back and now
- 24:22back to tech talk Radio. Hey, this is Harold Parano, and you
- 24:25listen to the geeks on the radio tech Talk Radio. Looping back to the
- 24:29discussion on ADHD. I know Justin had brought up a YouTube channel that he
- 24:33saw. What was was that called again Justin? It was called how to
- 24:37ADHD. All Right, So my wife actually found this on Instagram and I
- 24:44credit this account with partially saving my marriage. It's called adh doers d o
- 24:51e ers and you know, short form content like Instagram is. But the
- 24:56whole time is explaining so many any of the ADHD tendencies to people who don't
- 25:03have to deal with that. Yep. And my wife came to me at
- 25:07one point after following it for about a month, and she was like,
- 25:10I feel like I understand you so much better watching some of this because it
- 25:17explains some of the behaviors that I just couldn't wrap my head around. And
- 25:21now I'm understanding that. Like to us and other people, like, it's
- 25:26a behavior, but for you, it is just how you're wired. It's
- 25:30not something you have a choice of, it's not something you're asking for.
- 25:33It's just how your brain functions. I was talking. I was talking to
- 25:37a friend of mine, Matt, who has a son. Her son is
- 25:41ten. She got him a switch for Christmas and he was playing video games.
- 25:49She heard him in the other room, and she's concerned. She asked
- 25:52me what do I think? And I said, you know, my kids
- 25:56grew up in the PlayStation one age Drink Safe, a Dreamcast, and I
- 26:00never heard and it was all playing against the computer, not playing against somebody.
- 26:07And she noticed that when he would fail in the game and maybe not
- 26:12you know, achieve victory, he would cuss out the game like loudly,
- 26:18like with all this anger. And she says, is there anything that can
- 26:22be done with that? And I said, you know, I think,
- 26:25unfortunately, this is one of those things that we may be seeing. I
- 26:29don't know, you know, talking to gamers here, how would you handle
- 26:33it if your kids playing a game and they unleash like that? Sean,
- 26:37No, yeah, I mean you play games all the time. Well it's
- 26:41usually to you to two Matt, I guess. But there's there's a thing
- 26:47with ADHD called rejection sensitivity dysphoria, and it's where rejection, failure, things
- 26:56like that actually cause a physical sense station of pain. Wow, the rejection,
- 27:03the failure, things like that are felt differently than a neurotypical person would
- 27:08feel it, right, And if you're young and you don't know how to
- 27:14process those feelings, process those emotions. When you're young, anger is the
- 27:18easiest outlet. It's the easiest thing to reach out and grip. I mean,
- 27:23Sean, if you if you're on like your fourth attempt for a raid
- 27:29and you guys wipe, Like, what's your reaction to that? Going to
- 27:32be not good. There was a period of time when I was I was
- 27:37just out of college. I was playing World of war Craft pretty significantly.
- 27:41The term is hardcore for those who are listening. I played hard hardcore while
- 27:45for a while, and they coined a term in our guild called called a
- 27:51shon level of rage. Wow, really, because I would just you know,
- 27:59I may have broken a headset or two because I would throw my headset
- 28:03off, get sod or just toss it, you know, just slam it
- 28:08down on the keyboard or whatever. But so this is something adults do too.
- 28:14Oh yeah, it's rage quitting, man. I mean, okay,
- 28:18okay, let me tell you it. Just a little anecdote. When I
- 28:21was in the Navy, right and I was living in Japan, I had
- 28:23I had a Japanese house, like I lived outside the base. I lived
- 28:27amongst the people of Japan, right, and Japanese houses don't have a lot
- 28:33of insulation because it's a very temperate climate, right. And I had a
- 28:38roommate for a while, and this guy, you know, he had his
- 28:42own room. He played Xbox all the time. He would yell and scream
- 28:48when he would lose that halo or call of duty, and he would,
- 28:51I mean to the point where he actually slammed his controller into the ground and
- 28:55it broke. It actually dented the floor. I actually had to like,
- 28:57he had to pay for a replace laminate strip, right because he broke it.
- 29:03But anyway, I got to the point where I would get I would
- 29:07be getting complaints to the naval base through the housing development organization on the naval
- 29:14base from my neighbors because they were too like you know, because Japanese people
- 29:18are very like you know, they're just very reserved. They don't want to
- 29:19they don't want to be confrontational, so they wouldn't come to me and say
- 29:23it, but they would go to the naval base and they would complain about
- 29:26my roommate because he was so loud when he would lose a game. He'd
- 29:33be just like, oh my bleep it he bleep, but he bleep,
- 29:34bleep, bleep in and smack things and bang things, And I'm like,
- 29:38Julian, shut up. You know what, what can you do with a
- 29:42kid though that's ten that is doing this? Is there anything you could say
- 29:47to a kid that would be like take the games away, really some some
- 29:52other constructive outlet that they can focus the kid is not Yeah, that kid
- 29:56is not mentally capable. You have to get right. The behavior is the
- 30:02result of an action, right, They're reacting to something, right, they're
- 30:06learning that behavior and if you don't change, like, this is things we're
- 30:10trying to already do with Max right, Right, It's like, how do
- 30:12you correct an action that they're doing. Well, you have to look at
- 30:17why they're doing that action, and then you can change that what caused him
- 30:22to do that reaction and maybe understand it a little bit. But yeah,
- 30:25it's wow. I mean, Andy, you you've been through this, Andy,
- 30:30I mean you've got kids like no, no, no, no,
- 30:32no, no, no no, no, You've you've been through what he's
- 30:33just saying right there, what Sean is saying about correcting your child. And
- 30:37maybe this is going off in a little bit of a tangent, but it
- 30:40brings it brings a good point, like you know you're a parent, right,
- 30:45Parenting is hard, man, Like I I just I just want to
- 30:49tell Eric. I be like, hey, stop doing that. Don't do
- 30:52it? Why because I said so, Well, he wants to know the
- 30:56reason why he can't do it. I can't explain it to him, like
- 30:57it's it's hard. I don't know. I didn't have that much of an
- 31:02issue with the kids. They always listen seriously. Maybe we were lucky.
- 31:07Maybe I don't know. Just put on that dad voice. Yeah that too
- 31:14as someone knew who didn't listen. Uh. The thing that really helped with
- 31:18me was understanding that losing losing a game, whether it was a video game
- 31:26or a baseball game, it was not a symbol of failure. Yeah,
- 31:30and even if you decide to take it as failure. The way I got
- 31:36taught was failure is when you quit. So if you lose, if you
- 31:41lose, if you lose but you're still trying, you're not failing. You're
- 31:45learning that loss was a learning experience. If you react by lashing out,
- 31:51you didn't take any lesson from that. You didn't sit there and be like,
- 31:53oh, okay, well he rushed high and you know I sent my
- 31:57guys to mid which means I need to watch this next time. Instead it
- 32:00was you're just a piece of trash, Jeeter, Da da da dah.
- 32:05You're putting the onus on them instead of and you get that away from this.
- 32:09I am remembering something now, and maybe this helped. I played with
- 32:14them. I remember Frankie and Ricardo had a baseball game and and they'd call
- 32:20me into the room and I would play, and they would whoop my butt.
- 32:23They were so good at it. But maybe it's because of my reaction.
- 32:29I would laugh. I would laugh with him, go oh that was
- 32:31good. You know. I didn't have that negative you know, yelling that.
- 32:37Maybe that helped him because I never saw them, you know, get
- 32:42like that. I would actually play the games with them, and in the
- 32:45and if I lost, which usually was the case because they were much better
- 32:47gamers, I took it easy. It wasn't like, oh darn it,
- 32:52you know, well Max, you know, for in Shawn's case, Max
- 32:55is a little young. Maybe he can you know, maybe take a few
- 32:59tips from this. But I do the same thing with Eric. You know,
- 33:00we'll play a game and and you know we'll you know, he'll beat
- 33:06me a lot of times because he's getting good at games. But one thing
- 33:08that he does sometimes and is he'll bully me in a game. Like he'll
- 33:14like, we'll play a game where it's kind of like, uh, what
- 33:16was the game? We're playing a goat simulator right, No, seriously,
- 33:20it's actually kind of fun Goat Simulator three. But he'll bully me. He'll
- 33:24just follow me around and keep head budding me and doing things and I'm like,
- 33:27hey, man, stop, stop, stop, and he'll just keep
- 33:30doing it and he's laughing at it because he's having fun with it. But
- 33:31I'm like, i'm not because i can't actually play the game because I'm just
- 33:36getting kicked around. So like I'll just I'll just I'll just hold down the
- 33:39X button, turn off my controller, and I'll just set it down and
- 33:43walk away. And he's like, where you going? What are you doing?
- 33:45Why you why are you leaving? I'm like, I'm not gonna play
- 33:46if you're just gonna keep doing that. We don't bully people. We don't
- 33:50do that to our friends or family. And he's like, okay, okay,
- 33:53come back, come back, play, play play, and I'm like,
- 33:55all right, fine, I'll play, or like we'll play Minecraft,
- 33:59and he'll build a bo around me before I can even figure out what's going
- 34:01on. And now I'm trapped in this box and he's like, ha ha,
- 34:05you're trapped. I'm like, I guess I'm leaving. Then, you
- 34:07know. I played Smash Brothers with him once and I was taking it easy.
- 34:14Yes, please tell this story, Please tell this story. I was,
- 34:16and I was. I was. He was four five years old,
- 34:20five years old. He was five years old. And I was like,
- 34:22I'm I'm not gonna go hard on a five year old, like I'm not
- 34:24gonna be that guy. And he whooped me man like he cleaned the floor
- 34:30with me. It was even a contest. And he looks over and he
- 34:35was like, haha, and better at this game than you. You don't
- 34:37know what you're doing, haha. And I just looked at Justin was like,
- 34:40may I he goes by all means and I was like, okay,
- 34:45Eric, let's play again. And we got up there. I treated that
- 34:52five year old child like you make him cry. I annihilated him like there
- 35:00wasn't a chance for him. He's at the end, he's just like tossing
- 35:05the controller down. He's crying, and I had to restrain myself from being
- 35:08like, haha, you're not good at this game. I was like,
- 35:10be the adult. You know what, he still hasn't He still hasn't picked
- 35:16up that game since that day. That's too fuddy. That's a core memory
- 35:21of trauma. Yes, yeah, yeah, we still are paying for therapy
- 35:24for that. By the way, we'll send you the bill. Speaking of
- 35:28games, of course, a big game gonna be coming up next Sunday.
- 35:31So the question is what are we looking forward to the most? You got
- 35:35halftime, You've got the game itself. Half time, Yeah, halftime,
- 35:38you got the game itself. And you've got the ads. And honestly,
- 35:44I've been always been a big fan of the ads during the game. This
- 35:47is the one time of year I love ads, right, And they've already
- 35:51been putting a teaser out for an ad starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Have you seen
- 35:54the teaser for this? It's yeah, State Farm Insurance. The teaser is
- 36:00agentstatefarmmovie dot com. If you go there, you can watch the teaser trailer
- 36:05for it. And I wasn't sure right away. Then I realized, oh
- 36:07wait, yes, you know Super Bowls coming up. That means that that's
- 36:12going to be featured as an ad in the game, with of course Arnold
- 36:15wearing the red shirt. But it was announced this week that door dash is
- 36:21going to use its thirty second ad in the game to reveal how to win
- 36:25every item advertised during a nationally broadcast spot during the Super Bowl. So that
- 36:32means that they're going to be door dashing a one lucky Winner, a twenty
- 36:38twenty four BMW I five All Electric, a twenty twenty four Kia EV nine,
- 36:44a Volkswagen, a palette of Reese's peanut butter cups, one thousand winnings
- 36:47from Popeyes. They're even going to toss it a thirty pound jug of mayonnaise,
- 36:52right because it's mentioned in the ads. So again, all of the
- 36:57ads will be tied in and apparently or Dash is going to be giving away
- 37:01every single thing that's featured in that any Wait, so you're saying all this
- 37:06stuff in one ad in one ad, and they're gonna show something like probably
- 37:10like a QR code that you have to scan to sign up or yeah,
- 37:14and there's gonna be some kind of a sweepstakes that Dash is using. I
- 37:17don't know if they're gonna say if you order right now. I don't think
- 37:20they'll do something like that. I think they're just gonna make it open.
- 37:23Well they can't. They gotta say no purchase necessary. Yeah, I mean,
- 37:27but somebody is going to win all of it. Every everything that is
- 37:31featured in ad a getaway, a trip, you know, a B and
- 37:37B Airbnb. If they're gonna be advertising, I don't know if they're gonna
- 37:39give away lunch with Arnold in the state format. I just want a thirty
- 37:44pound jug of mayonnaise justin I do not want to know why you want a
- 37:49thirty pound giggitygy. We gotta take another commercial, coda commercial. Yes,
- 38:00hold me back with more of tech Talk Radio find It to the Web.
- 38:02But Tech Talk Radio duc now back to Chief Talk Radio. So we have
- 38:07one listener question this week, all right, and it's data from Tucson.
- 38:13And her question is I have two old computers from around two thousand and five
- 38:16that I haven't used in many years. They're collecting dust in my garage.
- 38:22I want to get rid of them, but not sure what I should do
- 38:24and with I'm not sure where I should do this, and without my data
- 38:29on them. Oh yeah, yeah, it sounds like she wants to get
- 38:30rid of them, right, and she wants the data to be protected or
- 38:35to be erased. Right. I can speak to this because I just did
- 38:39this with a bunch of computers from my friend. You guys know, I
- 38:44did this huge computer project with my friend when his uncle passed away, and
- 38:46let's write, hundreds and hundreds of computers. I went through the mall,
- 38:52destroyed the data forum, and then took the components to the hazardous waste department
- 38:58of the county. Oh there go. Most counties, at least in Indiana,
- 39:02have a e waste and hazardous waste material handling facility. It's free.
- 39:08You can just load up your hazardous waste paint, LP tanks, compressed gas
- 39:13tanks, whatever, and take it down there and just drop it off.
- 39:16When I think of hazardous waste, I think of motherboards. Well, and
- 39:20I'm thinking what about hard drives though, because you know, the the last
- 39:22thing you want to do is throw a hard drive in a landfill because you'll
- 39:28get to find stuff on it, bitcoins. So so I would suggest she
- 39:32takes it to a local computer repair shop and just says, please take the
- 39:37hard drive out and either give you the data this on it, even better,
- 39:43even better, don't don't don't don't, don't. Don't trust the computer
- 39:45shop to like get your data off. I mean, you should be able
- 39:50to trust your local computer shop. But if you really want to do it
- 39:52yourself, just take the hard drive. If it's a spinning drive, it's
- 39:54like a If it's a thick, you know, metal drive, right,
- 39:58which is I'm assuming that it is being as an old computer, take it
- 40:01out and get a drill and start drilling through it. Drill through it.
- 40:07Yeah, well, obviously be careful, but drill through it because when you
- 40:09drill through it, there is no chance that anybody will ever get the data
- 40:15off of it. Right, But she also says, you know, if
- 40:19she doesn't want the data off of it, that's great. She wants the
- 40:22data off of the drives. Picture, take it to a local computers.
- 40:30Don't go to best Buy and do geek squad, or don't go to the
- 40:31target or do that. Don't don't do me the big box stores, you
- 40:36know, find a reputable local computer shop hold the wall place, right,
- 40:40those are the best ones, Mom and pop and just say look, I've
- 40:44got this computer, I don't want it, and they'll probably even take care
- 40:46of it for you. Right, They'll take it off your hands, get
- 40:49it and then give you the data back either as a Google file, a
- 40:52Google drive link or something, so you can have your data and then store
- 40:57it however you want. Then you can smash it with a hammer, drill
- 41:00through it whatever. Yeah, making apart. I take my hard drives apart
- 41:05for the magnets. You have done that. I've done that before too,
- 41:08and I've done the drill bit on that too. You still got to be
- 41:12careful or even the hammer stuff flies off. You gotta be careful you don't
- 41:15get something in your eye on that. But again, make sure you've got
- 41:20that data off of there that you wanted, because you're never going to get
- 41:22it back if you use these technologies. You have non technologies to destroy this
- 41:28hard drive. There's also this Consumer Technology Association. They have a way that
- 41:35you can find, you know, for for us at Arizona, or you
- 41:37guys at Denver or Sean you in Indiana, you go to ct A dot
- 41:43Tech forward slash Greener dash Gadgets, uh and there you could do a search
- 41:49and find a local place that will do the recycling for you. But you
- 41:52know, the the main thing is your data, don't don't second guess that,
- 41:57don't give away, give a box of discos that may have stuff on
- 42:00there, make sure you get those destroyed, copied, whatnot. I'll tell
- 42:06you just recently, I had a hard drive a computer system that was given
- 42:10to me about well, I want to say it was back in twenty fifteen,
- 42:15and it had been sitting there and I'd done a data recovery and copied
- 42:20everything for my buddy and gave it to him and said, here's all the
- 42:23data off that computer. Well, those files were still sitting on my computer.
- 42:29So I'm going through and I'm deleting stuff and I'm okay, delete that,
- 42:31delete that, delete that, And I'm like, what's this this folder?
- 42:35And I look, it was a document, an insurance document with everybody,
- 42:40everybody in the family social security number on it. Oh my god,
- 42:43the full numbers. And I thought, if this would have wrote fallen into
- 42:45the wrong hands, this could have been real bad for people, because that's
- 42:50the information that people want. So again, document destroyed and completely. So
- 42:55again it just you gotta be really careful of that. But I think that's
- 42:59some advice there is take the hard drive out and donate. Some people say
- 43:04well, if you're gonna donate it, you're causing that agency, like you
- 43:07know, Goodwill or White Elephant or whatever you're donating to to have to put
- 43:10a hard drive in to resell it. Yeah. And if if, if
- 43:15that's the case, and that's what you want to do, I mean you
- 43:19can always if you're if you're more tech savvy, you can just like uh
- 43:23we called a d band Derek's boot and nuke. Oh yeah, just you
- 43:28would earn it to a CD or a USB drive boot to it and then
- 43:31you could do like a forty eight pass wipe on the hard drive. But
- 43:37I firmly agree with one thing that that Sean said, do not take it
- 43:42to the big box retailer tech support. I worked for the Apple Genius Bar
- 43:47for since in this work you have no idea talk about cutting your teeth and
- 43:52tech. I cut my teeth with the general public and learn to hate them.
- 43:58Wow, don't sugarcoat it there, Matt, I worked. Uh so,
- 44:07you're paying an exorbitant amount for something that will be relatively cheap to be
- 44:12done at a mom and pop shop. You'll be supporting small business and looping
- 44:15back to the hating people. I worked at the very first ever Apple store
- 44:22in Tyson's Corner of Virginia. Oh wow, which is one of the most
- 44:25affluent areas. It's kind of cool country. Yeah, it is cool.
- 44:30Although I know some listener is going to have worked for the store in Glendale
- 44:35Galleria in California and they're going to argue that they were the first store because
- 44:38we opened at nine and they opened it eight. And then I have to
- 44:42explain time zones again, in the fact that you were technically ahead of you
- 44:46in the time space continuum. There you go. Thank you, Matt fit
- 44:51me. We were first, but that area being so affluent, the sheer
- 44:57amount of privilege that the these people had coming up to the genius bar.
- 45:02Yeah, I heard. Do you know who I am? At least?
- 45:06No, you didn't. Important people don't have to ask that question. I
- 45:10just want to point that out to you, sir. Yeah. And also
- 45:14I do know who you are because I called your name. It gets you
- 45:16to come up here to talk to me. All right, Yes, I'm
- 45:20aware of who you are, Derek who lives in McLean I just don't care.
- 45:23Would you feel better, Matt if you went back to a different time
- 45:28When it comes to tech support, imagine this job and just fell into your
- 45:34lap in Germany? All right? Have you ever been to Germany? I
- 45:37have not. I've been to Italy, not Germany. All right, Germany,
- 45:40the railway there is looking for an IT admin, an IT admin,
- 45:47which is what you do now, right justin I mean, you're kind of
- 45:50like the it guy. Tech Spot had the story they're looking for an IT
- 45:54admin to manage DAS and Windows three point one one. I'm out, not
- 46:02enough money in the world, man, How hard could it be? Dude?
- 46:07It's gonna be insanely hard because there's no support for it. And I
- 46:09don't even think those connect to the internet, do they They probably don't.
- 46:14They're probably it's probably legacy machines that have a purpose and they don't want to
- 46:19upgrade, so they just leave it that way. I would take that job,
- 46:22says the admin. Would purportedly oversee systems with one hundred and sixty six
- 46:27MEE hours processors with eight megabytes of ramps. Oh imagine calling Microsoft support now
- 46:36and they're like, what operating SYSTM system? Are you running Windows for work
- 46:39groups three point one one? And then just hearing the support bust out laughing.
- 46:45No, they're just what are you running? Be like, no,
- 46:49really, I'm in Germany. This is what we're running. The job pays
- 46:52pretty good, I mean really, well it better it better be having like
- 46:55a million dollars a year to deal with that. Wow. You know,
- 46:59it's funny because we had at this radio station Windows three point one one in
- 47:05use until about two years ago on our radio automation system. And you know,
- 47:12we made the switch and we upgraded of course, but it worked.
- 47:16It just didn't get You saw a lot of digital carts, digital audio carts
- 47:20running three point one one. Yeah, yeah, just it was. It
- 47:22was pretty amazing. But now they need somebody to help with the railway.
- 47:28So so fun fact, in this article it lists the OS three point one
- 47:31to one released in nineteen ninety two. They stopped supporting it December thirty first,
- 47:37two thousand and one. Wow. That's twenty two years ago. Twenty
- 47:44three years ago. Wow. So you'd have to know. The federal government
- 47:51ended up entering into a deal with Microsoft to get additional extended support for it
- 47:58was either it was either XP year seven and they got yeah XP XP.
- 48:04They got a specialized contract for like another five years because Microsoft was like,
- 48:07we're not going to support it, and you're like, do you want the
- 48:09country to run? You're gonna support it? Yeah? No, they and
- 48:14and the Navy. I think it was the Department Department of the Navy that
- 48:16actually did this. And it was insanely expensive for them to continue the support
- 48:23for Windows XP because when I was in when when I was in the Navy,
- 48:29uh, Windows XP was you know, it was the primary operating system.
- 48:35I mean, granted we had just started moving to Windows seven, but
- 48:38most of the computers were Windows XP. And meanwhile, the Air Force is
- 48:45sitting over there laughing, going, h We're on Windows Vista and we're like,
- 48:50oh yeah, but are you laughing though? Like are you really bragging
- 48:55about Windows Vista? TikTok radio is still a microsof bob what he's saying.
- 49:00Yeah, but no now, but speaking speaking of I mean, look at
- 49:04look at okay, look at the different editions of Windows. This is a
- 49:07widely known fact. Right, okay, let's go back to uh, let's
- 49:12let's start with Windows ninety five. Right. Windows ninety five sucked, right,
- 49:15Windows ninety eight Actually, no, I'm sorry, let me say,
- 49:19let me restart. Window ninety five was pretty cool. Windows ninety eight sucked.
- 49:22Windows ninety eight second edition better Windows Emmy sucked. Windows XP probably one
- 49:31of the best. Yeah. Then Windows Vista wait sucked. Windows seven.
- 49:37We're not gonna call that Windows seven awesome. Windows eight sucked, Windows ten
- 49:44rolls, Windows eleven sucks. This year they're talking about releasing Windows twelve.
- 49:51Yeah, if you go on that same path, that means Windows twelve should
- 49:57be awesome. Have any of you guys anything about Windows twelve yet, Sean,
- 50:00No, I mean I've seen I've seen mockups of what it might look
- 50:05like. I mean, they're bringing back the start menu, like where it's
- 50:08supposed to be. I don't know any have you heard anything about it?
- 50:10I just remember when they said Windows ten was the last OS they were going
- 50:15to release. Yep, I know, I remember that, and I was
- 50:17like, wow, that's gonna be different. It'll just be updates. Then
- 50:21they changed their course and said, no, we're gonna actually put out new
- 50:23numbers. Now think about this. By October of twenty twenty five, more
- 50:28than a billion PCs will be running a debt operating system. They're no longer
- 50:34going to be putting it out, leaving many computers vulnerable to malware trash.
- 50:39I mean it's gonna be terrible, and that means they're going to be open.
- 50:43So it's gonna be You think it's bad now, it's gonna be worse
- 50:46than in twenty twenty five unless Microsoft finds a way to get people to upgrade
- 50:51to eleven without the what they've been doing. They've said, well you can
- 50:55if you qualify because you have the right equipment. Well, I just got
- 50:59to email today from our one of our big vendors that we buy a lot
- 51:02of computers from for our district, and they said, look, starting next
- 51:08month, you will no longer be able to buy a computer with Windows ten
- 51:13if it's eligible for Windows eleven as per our license agreement with Microsoft. So
- 51:21if that computer can run Windows eleven, you will have to buy it with
- 51:25Windows eleven, which is ninety five percent of their computers they sell. Wow,
- 51:30it's gonna be crazy. All right, another quick break, we come
- 51:32back with more of tech Talk Radio, and now back to tech Talk Radio.
- 51:37Hey, this is Mike Nelson from Mystery Science Theater and rifftracks dot com,
- 51:40and you're listening to the greatest show on the planet, tech Talk Radio.
- 51:45So morning, how many of you guys have used power banks. When
- 51:49it comes to your smartphones, you haven't. Do you have a particular model
- 51:52or brand that you like over the others? Ankor anchor ancher? Well,
- 52:00I just actually got one. It's not an anchor one or anchor? Oh
- 52:02is it is pronounced uncle is? I think, yeah, isn't it Okay?
- 52:06Maybe anchor whatever. I do have an anchor one, but I do
- 52:08have a really big one too, and I just got it. It was
- 52:12a Black Friday deal. Yeah, there we go. Everybody's holding up their
- 52:15ancors. It's something I've ever't heard of this show ever. Yeah, everybody
- 52:20that could be the name of the show too. Everybody's holding up their ancors.
- 52:24But I got this. I got this big one. I mean this
- 52:27thing is a honker. Okay, it's not an anchor, it's a honker.
- 52:30It's huge. It's like, oh my gosh, it's like fifty thousand
- 52:35milliwatt hour battery or something like that. And it was like twenty bucks on
- 52:39Black Friday. Well, this one I got, uh just showed on TV
- 52:44is a ten thousand MILLI am. It takes a little while. You only
- 52:46get about two charges out of it. Uh before you know recharging. This
- 52:52was twenty seven dollars. I mean it's not bad. Ancor is really good
- 52:54brand. Yeah, kr, I think I paid thirty seven for this one,
- 53:00and it's I want to say, it's a fifty thousand fifty while the
- 53:05one that Matt's holding in this is about the size of the one that I
- 53:07have, right, But I mean this has a dual purpose. If I'm
- 53:12camping and I'm using this and someone's in my campsite they're not supposed to be,
- 53:15I can just wing this at their head. It's pretty thick. Uh.
- 53:19Here's the new one from Anker. This is the Sulex And what this
- 53:22is is basically you've got the little power box that's on the back, but
- 53:27it is iPad case. It is a solar panel, so it unfolds and
- 53:34unfolds. It puts out thirty watts, so you can I mean, so
- 53:37it's not an amazing amount. It's about one percent per minute. I want
- 53:42that on your charge. There were only about fifty five bucks. I want
- 53:45that. So pretty nice and you can just go understand that to me,
- 53:49William. There was another one that we bought for camping. I got it
- 53:54on Amazon so I can look it up real cool, Sean. I'm saying,
- 53:59Sean would love shot like this if I were to buy one right now.
- 54:04So we have a we have a we have a actual gas generators for
- 54:07a camper. We also have solar panels on our camper. We've got two
- 54:10hundred and eighty watts of solar panels on the roof of a camper. Wow,
- 54:14We've got an extra hundred watt portable that we had for our previous camper
- 54:17that all ties into two a GM batteries and series six volt batteries and series
- 54:23so we get twelve. This guy apocalypses. This guy apocalypse. But if
- 54:30I had to buy one right now, I would buy one from rock Pals.
- 54:34Rock Pals makes solar generators, so it'll store, it'll solar. You
- 54:38know, you can buy and expand it as far as much as you want.
- 54:44But rock Pals you can find them on Amazon. They're relatively inexpensive for
- 54:46what they are, and they're all lithium with lithium iron phosphate batteries. What's
- 54:52the name of that company again, rock Pals, rock Pals. So you're
- 54:57just saying that the lithium iron that's different, right, Lithium iron phosphate is
- 55:01the newest like lithium ion battery style, you know whatever, the deposit of
- 55:08al you know, all the chemicals and stuff and it's the most efficient.
- 55:13Very cool. All right. Well that's that's all the time we have for
- 55:15this week. Be sure to tune in next week. Get your questions into
