- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to No Dribble, the podcast where we
- 0:09Speaker 1: talk about netball, but we talk about so much more.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And that laughter you will hear in the.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Background is because the three of us just looked at
- 0:15Speaker 1: each other and went, yeah, we've got no idea, let's
- 0:18Speaker 1: just get started. Very exciting this week. Got a new
- 0:22Speaker 1: friend in the studio. I'm Carol, It'swindel, I'm Catcox and
- 0:26Speaker 1: a huge welcome to a wait you do the honest?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Well what do we call her? Because she's very special
- 0:32Speaker 2: to this pod. She's the godmother of godmother? Are you
- 0:35Speaker 2: happy with that?
- 0:36Speaker 3: Kid?
- 0:36Speaker 4: I will take that. I will take that. Hello, Hello,
- 0:40Speaker 4: thank you for having me.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Is that as good as the Gorge draw book?
- 0:44Speaker 4: As long as it's no horse hits in my bed?
- 0:47Speaker 1: We call you the godmother of No Dribble because of course,
- 0:49Speaker 1: you were the one who had the catchphrase Netbaulers do
- 0:53Speaker 1: it without drinking.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Now, can you how did that come about? Because I
- 0:56Speaker 2: remember you had on a T shirt that had netball
- 1:00Speaker 2: do it without drew And this is when I first
- 1:02Speaker 2: started playing. Yes, so where did that I do?
- 1:04Speaker 4: It was quite tragic because it was it was actually
- 1:07Speaker 4: the launch of mobile super leg do you remember that.
- 1:09Speaker 4: So I was at Fake nineteen eighty five and I
- 1:12Speaker 4: was working with netball astraight at the time, and by
- 1:16Speaker 4: having a launch and remember that that was a big deal.
- 1:18Speaker 4: That was giving a million dollars and that was the
- 1:21Speaker 4: biggest sponsorship for women's sport at the time. So we
- 1:24Speaker 4: were having this press conference to announce the launch of
- 1:27Speaker 4: this sponsorship and blah blah blah, and so I was
- 1:29Speaker 4: organizing it, and then I went off and we get
- 1:32Speaker 4: these T shirts made for all the journeys that rock up.
- 1:33Speaker 4: They get a little goodie bag and it had the
- 1:36Speaker 4: mobile logo on it as Mobile superleg Netbulers do it
- 1:39Speaker 4: without dripping. It's just great gray T shirt so all
- 1:42Speaker 4: the blokes could wear it as well. Did not get
- 1:44Speaker 4: it checked by anyone. So the first doll, the the
- 1:50Speaker 4: CEO and the chair see if it is at the
- 1:52Speaker 4: thing going what is this and I'm like, yeah, it's great.
- 1:54Speaker 4: I love them. So anyway, probably should have had them
- 1:57Speaker 4: checked first.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So did you use them? Yeah, as soon as I
- 2:02Speaker 2: saw it, I wanted one. So all these years later
- 2:05Speaker 2: when we were trying to come up with a name,
- 2:07Speaker 2: that's the first thing that came to my mind. You
- 2:09Speaker 2: came up with that quite quickly, but only because of Killing.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Let you go, so we bow down.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Well, but you are dribbling though.
- 2:16Speaker 1: This is and that's that's the d irony of these podcasts,
- 2:21Speaker 1: all driple. So give us a bit of background. You
- 2:25Speaker 1: guys know each other from netball.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I'm just going to through it out there.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's funny that.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And you know, like most people, when you ask them
- 2:33Speaker 2: who their idol is in the game or someone they
- 2:35Speaker 2: look up to when they're playing, they always say someone
- 2:37Speaker 2: in their position. But I have always said Killy. Killy
- 2:40Speaker 2: was a gold offense and a goal keeper, mainly goalkeeper,
- 2:43Speaker 2: but I always say because she was just one of
- 2:45Speaker 2: the funniest people in the team. Great player, sure, but
- 2:49Speaker 2: I mean I wasn't trying to emulate my game on
- 2:51Speaker 2: a goalkeepers obviously, but I just loved being in a
- 2:54Speaker 2: team of Kills because she was fun, always cracking jokes,
- 2:57Speaker 2: always being naughty. It's like, oh, straight away, I love.
- 3:00Speaker 4: This girl, and I think that's important. You mightn't have
- 3:02Speaker 4: your on court stuff, you weren't using Mesia role model,
- 3:06Speaker 4: but you're off court, so that I think is probably
- 3:08Speaker 4: more important. Correct, especially in the days when you didn't
- 3:10Speaker 4: have social media to teach you those things about being
- 3:13Speaker 4: on a netball tour. But I'm kind of glad that
- 3:16Speaker 4: there wasn't, so that's kind of nice.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I'm still a little scarred though, from when we landed.
- 3:23Speaker 2: We'd be to New Zealand to play a tournament. New
- 3:25Speaker 2: South Wales always went to New Zealand with Mark Corbett
- 3:28Speaker 2: and we played in something over there, and then we'd
- 3:31Speaker 2: always go to the bend In Factory.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Yes it was the Australian Champions would play the New
- 3:37Speaker 4: Zealand Champions and it was like the Bendon League. And
- 3:39Speaker 4: is that where we got the Bendamos, Well that would
- 3:41Speaker 4: make sense, yeah, yeah, but always go to the Bendin Outlet.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And it was unreal except that was bad for me
- 3:47Speaker 2: because I was still at school so I didn't have
- 3:48Speaker 2: a job. So these guys would go in there and
- 3:50Speaker 2: spend hundreds of dollars on jileware or any boobs. Correct,
- 3:56Speaker 2: So I'll go in there and bother us a london
- 3:58Speaker 2: of jocks and late. But anyway, so you back, we
- 4:00Speaker 2: were in Sydney waiting at the carousel for the luggage
- 4:03Speaker 2: to come out, and everyone's just standing around, it's quiet,
- 4:07Speaker 2: Kelly at the top of a voice, so coxy, have
- 4:09Speaker 2: you had a root yet? In front of everyone? And
- 4:14Speaker 2: to this day still speak to my therapist about good Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 2: today it's kind of scarred. So guys, I just remembers
- 4:25Speaker 2: going right red, like kill me.
- 4:29Speaker 4: I'm not sorry for that. I could have saved you
- 4:31Speaker 4: a lot of money in therapy by just telling me.
- 4:33Speaker 4: And I could have said sorry, yeah, just.
- 4:35Speaker 2: On the download, you know. Anyway, So as much as
- 4:37Speaker 2: I loved it, there was a moment there that I
- 4:39Speaker 2: also was like, oh god, you know what first thing
- 4:46Speaker 2: I do is pass it on tonight.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Excellent? Excellent.
- 4:49Speaker 2: But Carol and I feel like, now that we've got
- 4:51Speaker 2: Kelly here and we don't have Liz here, it's the
- 4:55Speaker 2: perfect time to get some goss solid. That's what I'm
- 4:58Speaker 2: looking for because you play with her for years.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Yes, but I do. I have a lot of dirt.
- 5:04Speaker 4: I'll probably do but stuff I can't say, well, yeah
- 5:06Speaker 4: I could, because she's not either say yeah sorry afterwards,
- 5:10Speaker 4: yeah exactly, yeah no, but I did play with Liz,
- 5:12Speaker 4: so that was Yeah, I will think about it. But yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 4: when her first game I was I was there. It
- 5:18Speaker 4: was lovely. Then. I do remember one trip day there
- 5:20Speaker 4: was I can't remember where we met and it was
- 5:23Speaker 4: the three of us in a room together. Three rooming
- 5:25Speaker 4: together was ridiculous, but it was me, Liz and Vicki Wilson,
- 5:28Speaker 4: like could you shick the three biggest people? And we
- 5:32Speaker 4: couldn't fit in the beds and when this time, Yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 4: it was ridiculous. It was just crazy.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, And Liz was so scrawny when she started, wasn't she.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Funny?
- 5:42Speaker 4: Looking back up?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Big started their career and where they end.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Up, right, so you'll think about that thing you want
- 5:50Speaker 1: to tell me about Catherine. No, So how long did
- 5:53Speaker 1: you guys play together? And where and why? And he
- 5:56Speaker 1: was in how did you DoLS? We didn't crossover with
- 5:59Speaker 1: Oz know when did you retire from Australia?
- 6:03Speaker 4: Ninety four? I think yeah, ninety four, So you only
- 6:07Speaker 4: had a one year with Liz.
- 6:09Speaker 2: She played she played Gozi City yep, yeah, but no
- 6:12Speaker 2: we played New South Wales opens out for a few
- 6:16Speaker 2: years and that was when New South Wales one. Everyrief
- 6:19Speaker 2: thing they used to give the Golden Boot Award red
- 6:21Speaker 2: the world talking about this that.
- 6:23Speaker 1: They were in the table at the at the yah.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Dunlop, yeah, balie or whatever the shoe was, what was
- 6:30Speaker 2: it Hatch twenty So wasn't it no catch?
- 6:34Speaker 4: Oh my god of KC twenty six was one thing.
- 6:38Speaker 4: And then there was the netball one they made. It
- 6:40Speaker 4: was supposed to be specifically for netball, but it wasn't
- 6:43Speaker 4: catch savn was catch evn catch seven? Yeah?
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, it was this dunlock shoe. So they'd spray
- 6:47Speaker 2: paint this thing gold and then mounted on I think
- 6:50Speaker 2: as a trading. The New South Flalest won them all
- 6:52Speaker 2: and it was Kill's era. I came in I think
- 6:55Speaker 2: probably in the end of them and won a couple.
- 6:57Speaker 2: When News early played the played the game ninety four.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Four okay, so ninety four ninety five would have been
- 7:04Speaker 4: together in New South team.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah. See.
- 7:07Speaker 5: I was an eye opener for a whole range of reasons,
- 7:10Speaker 5: mainly off court, little Catherine learning a thing or two
- 7:14Speaker 5: about life. Well, I have to tell you, I'm going
- 7:16Speaker 5: to change the subject off netb for a moment. We
- 7:18Speaker 5: will talk about network because that's what we sometimes do better. Oh,
- 7:22Speaker 5: just a bit of a flex.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I was at the ashes last week, as we all know,
- 7:26Speaker 1: was therefore a great day of cricket that I thought
- 7:28Speaker 1: was going to end up looking very sour, but the
- 7:30Speaker 1: next day it was fantastic. But I would like to
- 7:34Speaker 1: I need some counseling over something that happened at the airport.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I'm sure it won't be unfamiliar to you. I'm standing
- 7:40Speaker 1: at the baggage carousel, and I stand a decent distance
- 7:43Speaker 1: from the baggage carousel brick because I'm not a lunatic,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and I know that if everyone stands back, then everyone
- 7:48Speaker 1: can see what's going on, right, and you move forward
- 7:50Speaker 1: when it's there was a woman there. I swear to
- 7:53Speaker 1: god this was a hidden camera prank that she was
- 7:55Speaker 1: playing on met because every time I moved, she moved
- 7:58Speaker 1: and stood directly in front of me, one foot in
- 8:01Speaker 1: front of me. And then I'd sigh and shuffle a
- 8:04Speaker 1: bit to the left, and she would shuffle a bit
- 8:06Speaker 1: to the left. It was just if like for ten
- 8:08Speaker 1: minutes this went on, and it was like her entire
- 8:11Speaker 1: thing was if I don't stand in front of this
- 8:13Speaker 1: very short woman, I will not be able to see
- 8:15Speaker 1: my bag and claim it. And it took all my
- 8:19Speaker 1: patients not to give us some feedback on that.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I know what the who came first mine? Yeah, so
- 8:25Speaker 4: did you sort of get rush?
- 8:27Speaker 1: I mean I have to get past excuse me?
- 8:31Speaker 4: I hate that.
- 8:33Speaker 2: It was. Yeah, where is it?
- 8:35Speaker 4: There's some inports where they'll have a line basically a
- 8:38Speaker 4: tape line and back to be hind. Now behind that
- 8:41Speaker 4: and don't go in front of it until you get
- 8:42Speaker 4: your back.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Now.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I think people, ilady, stand behind those lines at immigration
- 8:46Speaker 1: where there's someone and you know, look, if I get
- 8:49Speaker 1: arrested here for crossing the line, I could be eight
- 8:51Speaker 1: hours in questioning for now a parent rect the best
- 8:54Speaker 1: I do. Yeah, So that was. It was absolutely infuriating.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Just just people. Stupidity general drives me batty.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Airports stupidity particularly.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah, seems to be a mass. Oh my god, speaking
- 9:06Speaker 2: of airports, you will not believe this. So last week
- 9:10Speaker 2: we're talking about coming in for landings and how you
- 9:13Speaker 2: had three false attempts, and then we asked Darryl for
- 9:17Speaker 2: the terminology, which he gave us.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So what was your flapper on which I don't know
- 9:21Speaker 1: Darryl honestly, And what I would love is if Daryl.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Was your flaps are always on either.
- 9:29Speaker 1: If it was he you know, we do, we do
- 9:31Speaker 1: trust him and his judgment and his advice. But it
- 9:35Speaker 1: would be great if he were to just now start
- 9:37Speaker 1: feeding this crappy is summation because it's like, well, you
- 9:40Speaker 1: are meant.
- 9:40Speaker 2: To do all the pointless job skills. I will, but
- 9:43Speaker 2: I might not do it with any rigut. So I
- 9:45Speaker 2: would applaud if that's what you did.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, likewise, but I don't know flapper on there. I
- 9:49Speaker 1: thought it was Ailerontain.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but did you have a no? So what were
- 9:55Speaker 2: yours called? Where he said you're still in the air
- 9:58Speaker 2: but you do the Well, they were a bord landing. Okay.
- 10:01Speaker 2: So the other one you mentioned was a touch and go. Yeah.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I had a freaking touch and go. I could not
- 10:07Speaker 2: believe it after we just talked about it. When I
- 10:09Speaker 2: flew back from Melbourne on Tuesday. Wow, freaking scare as
- 10:13Speaker 2: if the weather what happened? Well, no, the weather looks nice.
- 10:16Speaker 2: But we came into land and the back wheels were
- 10:19Speaker 2: down and you could feel still up. Yeah, so you're like, shit,
- 10:22Speaker 2: when's the front coming out? Like it just wasn't coming down.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And then next minute the jets go on and we
- 10:27Speaker 2: take off again and there's radio silence like obviously at
- 10:31Speaker 2: that point, the captains is concentrating on flying the plane.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But when you come out of those it's quite aggressive
- 10:36Speaker 2: because you're not supposed to be coming out of that huh.
- 10:38Speaker 2: So it's steep and then it's quite sharp turning because
- 10:42Speaker 2: in my head, I'm also thinking about all the other planes.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Anytime you look out the window, you can see the
- 10:47Speaker 2: line up. Yeah, and one's taking off. So I was
- 10:50Speaker 2: starting to freak out a bit, and I looked to
- 10:52Speaker 2: the Fortunately, I had two hotties next to me. When
- 10:55Speaker 2: I need to side and take middle seats, there was
- 10:57Speaker 2: only a middle seed on this plane, and I'd too
- 10:59Speaker 2: good looking men on the east side. I was like, Okay,
- 11:01Speaker 2: if I'm going to die today, I mean good coup.
- 11:03Speaker 2: But anyway, I looked at one of them. I was like,
- 11:06Speaker 2: well that's different, and he goes, yeah, do you think
- 11:11Speaker 2: you'd rather you'd like to know what was going on
- 11:14Speaker 2: or you'd rather not. I was like, yeah, I definitely
- 11:15Speaker 2: would rather not know what was going on. Anyway, radio
- 11:19Speaker 2: silence for like ten to fifteen minutes. We finally get
- 11:22Speaker 2: up on a cruising around here, and then the pilot
- 11:25Speaker 2: comes over and said, oh, sorry about that. Folks seemed
- 11:27Speaker 2: quite cheerful. Okay, breath. We had a big gust of
- 11:31Speaker 2: wind right when we're about to lag. Yeah, and they
- 11:35Speaker 2: just thought it would be too dangerous, so they just
- 11:37Speaker 2: took off again. Buddy, Hell, I know so. And we
- 11:41Speaker 2: were talking about it though one of the charts. But
- 11:44Speaker 2: the ten minutes of radio silence, you can imagine up
- 11:46Speaker 2: front that there's a fair bit of chat going on there.
- 11:50Speaker 4: What do we tell them?
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, like I try to even if you're paddicking,
- 11:54Speaker 2: try to sound car when you come over. All my
- 11:57Speaker 2: years of flying never happened. We were could talk about it,
- 12:00Speaker 2: and then that happens the next week.
- 12:01Speaker 1: It's a really good one to lean into when you're
- 12:04Speaker 1: getting one of those sort of emergency take offs, to
- 12:06Speaker 1: really constrict your amps and go up and it's like ap.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Work out there because you've got the resistance. It was
- 12:12Speaker 2: definitely but clinching. I can assure you. I did start
- 12:15Speaker 2: to get a bit sweet, did you. Yeah, scary, Sorry,
- 12:18Speaker 2: that's not cool.
- 12:19Speaker 4: That was nothing to do with the guys beside you.
- 12:20Speaker 2: No, No, it was before minutes.
- 12:22Speaker 1: So the arm rests if you're in the middle seat,
- 12:25Speaker 1: back arm rest, so you do something that's that's the rule.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I was aware though, because I was in an exit row. Yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 2: so the two next to me were tall as well,
- 12:34Speaker 2: which is even more appeally freak share. But I was,
- 12:37Speaker 2: I was actually aware of that and how that was
- 12:39Speaker 2: going to play out. But we're on one of the
- 12:40Speaker 2: brand new air buses. They're fancy anyway, heats of room,
- 12:43Speaker 2: so I was. I was quite happy to share it
- 12:45Speaker 2: over those two. So one of the dribblers was a
- 12:49Speaker 2: little bit upset. So we were talking about the falangeets
- 12:52Speaker 2: last week this episode of Friends, and she said, was
- 12:55Speaker 2: anyone else screaming at the at the podcast? I love that.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I love the winds like rage as well as joy
- 13:03Speaker 1: that it was Rachel on the plane saying the falange
- 13:06Speaker 1: So I went back and watched the episode. Phoebe was
- 13:09Speaker 1: in the car. It's trying to get Ross to the
- 13:12Speaker 1: airport on time. They went to tell Rachel he loved
- 13:15Speaker 1: him before she went to Paris, and she said to Rachel,
- 13:18Speaker 1: there's a problem with the Falangers. And then Rachel got
- 13:20Speaker 1: off the phone and the guy next to her said,
- 13:23Speaker 1: what was that? Because she'd said, I'm sure there's nothing
- 13:25Speaker 1: wrong with the plane, and then she brought up the FALANGI,
- 13:28Speaker 1: so was Rachel on the phone, but it was Phoebe's
- 13:33Speaker 1: made up word. But were very important that we correct
- 13:37Speaker 1: the record on the Falangie debarcle the FLANGI y, let's
- 13:41Speaker 1: go Flancy gave.
- 13:42Speaker 2: You falancy game from someone's mouth. Apologies guys, and we
- 13:47Speaker 2: are there.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, So should we talk about some netball?
- 14:07Speaker 5: Yes?
- 14:07Speaker 2: So which part? How about five five that was on
- 14:10Speaker 2: the weekend was on the weekend?
- 14:12Speaker 1: And why didn't you get invited to play YouTube? Now, listen, Cole,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I didn't. I don't invited debates my torn miniscus, I
- 14:18Speaker 1: think is there.
- 14:19Speaker 2: I don't want to say their ageist, but I did
- 14:21Speaker 2: not get invited to play hard.
- 14:24Speaker 1: No, you still killing you'd kill it, I know, but.
- 14:28Speaker 4: She's still especially a shooter. You just got to stand
- 14:30Speaker 4: there and shoot. You don't have to do anything.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I was excited to try to play. But the
- 14:35Speaker 2: problem is the majority of them were ex players. So
- 14:38Speaker 2: if you could do that, if you're playing against you
- 14:40Speaker 2: D league and people that haven't played before, but our
- 14:44Speaker 2: like mother daughter Lee. But there was some guns and
- 14:48Speaker 2: the team that won was the Phoenix. And listen to
- 14:51Speaker 2: this line up though, if these guys hadn't want Yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 2: why do we not put money a ball up? Yeah,
- 14:56Speaker 2: Casey Kapua, Katrina Rore, cat Tour, Varti, Laura Lanman, Kim Green,
- 15:02Speaker 2: Taylor Davies, just to name a few. They won twenty
- 15:06Speaker 2: thousand dollars for winning this tournament. Kim Green ended up
- 15:09Speaker 2: in hospital having to have surgery on browsing singer. No,
- 15:13Speaker 2: this is the reason I would never. But from all
- 15:16Speaker 2: the cads, that looked like a Tops weekend, and there
- 15:18Speaker 2: were plenty of dribblers on our Facebook page posting photos
- 15:21Speaker 2: there they're having fun.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Yeah, it looked so.
- 15:24Speaker 2: There were sixteen teams I believe, yes, and lots of
- 15:28Speaker 2: ex superstars. Net Medhearst was there playing, April Bromley was there,
- 15:32Speaker 2: Gubby Simpson, a lot of the Kiwis came over to play.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Fantastic unreal. It was fabulous. So guys next year, like
- 15:39Speaker 2: an invitation please to play? To play really yeah, I'm
- 15:43Speaker 2: not going to do.
- 15:43Speaker 4: But it's just thought of, like to be able to
- 15:48Speaker 4: reject the invitation.
- 15:50Speaker 2: There's a part. Yeah, fair enough, and that's looked exactly
- 15:54Speaker 2: like it was. So that was the phoenix.
- 15:56Speaker 1: So I thought of Casey Cooper had hung up the boots,
- 15:59Speaker 1: but to sun Corps Super Apple boot.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Same the serious moods our text cat to a Varti
- 16:04Speaker 2: this morning. You see if she was alive? I said,
- 16:07Speaker 2: are you dead? And she said only from the neck down?
- 16:09Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, well they got okay, very good.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Would you be up for that?
- 16:18Speaker 4: No? No, no, my niece wouldn't cope. I actually that
- 16:21Speaker 4: was your last Oh my god. I have to make
- 16:23Speaker 4: a confession here, which I was hoping no one to
- 16:25Speaker 4: ever find out about. But I actually just recently played
- 16:29Speaker 4: in the Masters Games in camera in walking netball. I know, Wow,
- 16:38Speaker 4: it was weird. I'd spent the first two games just
- 16:43Speaker 4: working out what the hell I was doing. It was
- 16:45Speaker 4: just really weird.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Am I the same rules?
- 16:48Speaker 4: Yes, I think you can. You can take an extra step,
- 16:52Speaker 4: so it's more so that if people have to shuffle
- 16:53Speaker 4: a little bit and take an extra step, you can't
- 16:57Speaker 4: jump at all. So you can't jump. So no, so
- 17:01Speaker 4: that was the thing, automatically going for a rebound to
- 17:03Speaker 4: change up, But not that I probably in my mind
- 17:06Speaker 4: think I was jumping.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I wasn't.
- 17:07Speaker 4: An it didn't really make any difference, but Simhio, but
- 17:12Speaker 4: my niece is stuff. So I was like, there was
- 17:14Speaker 4: this team of girls that have been the Commodorees. Shout
- 17:17Speaker 4: out to the Commodore's group of wonderful ladies that have
- 17:20Speaker 4: been Richie got his start catching up together. I think
- 17:24Speaker 4: they've been playing together for like twenty years and it's
- 17:27Speaker 4: this group, the core of the group, and they play
- 17:30Speaker 4: in the Masters games, pan packs and every year. I
- 17:33Speaker 4: was working with a couple of them a few years ago, Oh,
- 17:35Speaker 4: come on, play on us. I can't and he's the
- 17:36Speaker 4: stuff and he's the stuff. So then this year they've gone, oh,
- 17:38Speaker 4: no excuse for doing walking netball, You've got to play.
- 17:40Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh, I know, he's a steel stroll.
- 17:43Speaker 4: But they had a sports visio in the team, so
- 17:45Speaker 4: she kind of pieced me together and it looked it
- 17:47Speaker 4: was fun. It was like, you know, you know, it's
- 17:49Speaker 4: like being on a netball tour. It's all the fun
- 17:50Speaker 4: stuff around it, which was lovely and such a great bunch.
- 17:54Speaker 4: But as far as the netball, I certainly didn't do
- 17:56Speaker 4: myself any favors, or anyone watching would have been like, oh,
- 18:00Speaker 4: didn't she used to be able to plane?
- 18:02Speaker 2: I feel like anyone that's even slightly competitive would bust out. Well,
- 18:05Speaker 2: that's me and that's what I was worried about.
- 18:08Speaker 3: To you, Yeah, stole out, Yeah, you won't get extra
- 18:11Speaker 3: fast exactly.
- 18:12Speaker 4: The most funny thing that the organizers that act Netball
- 18:16Speaker 4: had to run most of it, and they're fantastic and
- 18:19Speaker 4: they said, oh, you wouldn't believe it. The biggest problems
- 18:22Speaker 4: they're they're having with, you know, fights on court with
- 18:25Speaker 4: the over sixty five's walking category.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 4: So everyone else was pretty good and you know, all
- 18:32Speaker 4: in the spirit and having good time, but there's a
- 18:34Speaker 4: few in the over sixty five swarfing you.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Job.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Don't we just getting quite physical because there's no contact.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Rather than it's not a physical No, I don't think
- 18:44Speaker 2: so each other.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Maybe maybe because the's supposed to be no contact, because
- 18:53Speaker 4: there was supposed to be no contact at all, So
- 18:54Speaker 4: I think there was probably a little bit of archie bargie.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And anyway, how many days was this?
- 19:00Speaker 4: I was eight days? Yeah, one game of day.
- 19:04Speaker 2: You feel it at the end even though you walk, Yes,
- 19:07Speaker 2: probably because my knees were so sore.
- 19:08Speaker 4: So I my orthopedic surgeoncines and he's just like you're
- 19:15Speaker 4: headed for a replacement. You know, but anyway they're dropping
- 19:18Speaker 4: like flying.
- 19:21Speaker 2: This is a dangerous, dangerous Oh wow, that's fascinating. I
- 19:26Speaker 2: had so many questions about that walking.
- 19:28Speaker 4: But it's fun and it's just great that people that
- 19:33Speaker 4: have this lifelong love of the game. And I think
- 19:35Speaker 4: that's the thing with netball. This you want to play forever.
- 19:38Speaker 4: And there are so many women there that you know
- 19:40Speaker 4: they just played forever and now they could keep playing
- 19:43Speaker 4: because there's there's all as options as net set go.
- 19:47Speaker 4: It's part of the continuum off the game. Not great
- 19:51Speaker 4: to watch, but and it goes to Walker.
- 19:56Speaker 1: After I will point out that next guy is not
- 19:58Speaker 1: great to watch either. Oh god, Darling, these boots on
- 20:04Speaker 1: a bock and that's just what they'll do. One of
- 20:09Speaker 1: these easy boots.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Un a love over.
- 20:16Speaker 2: So where was your last official a running gag after
- 20:20Speaker 2: you retired?
- 20:21Speaker 4: You did not? Odd, No, I played must have played
- 20:23Speaker 4: basketball because I used to play basketball as well. I
- 20:26Speaker 4: played red basketball, and I thought that was just great
- 20:28Speaker 4: for netball, like blocking out, rebounding, all that sort of stuff.
- 20:32Speaker 4: But so I played a bit more basketball because you
- 20:35Speaker 4: could you just have a bit more control, and especially
- 20:39Speaker 4: being in defense, you're always reacting and again that kicks
- 20:42Speaker 4: in that whole competitive thing. Oh I can get that,
- 20:45Speaker 4: and you're like, you idiot, No, you can't.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Checking menopausal and menopausal women basketball gives a certain outlet
- 20:52Speaker 1: for the.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Aggression hundred percent.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I've just started hormone replacement therapy.
- 20:59Speaker 2: How's that going out?
- 21:00Speaker 1: We're great, it's good. Turns out that I was right
- 21:04Speaker 1: that all of my family are wrong most of the time.
- 21:07Speaker 1: But if they're so, the hormone replacement therapy helps a
- 21:09Speaker 1: little bit, which.
- 21:14Speaker 2: It should be the disclaimer on the box. You may
- 21:17Speaker 2: find out that you've been rolls a few times. No, no, well,
- 21:19Speaker 2: let's I will point out that I was not wrong.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I may have significantly overreacted to everything for several months.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm still rights bitchy. When I'm right, I can.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yes, the children are very happy to remind meditate my
- 21:41Speaker 2: medication tablet today, by which I think is brave. You
- 21:46Speaker 2: haven't had a cup of tea made for you in years.
- 21:48Speaker 2: It's suddenly they're being in. We're there with a tablet
- 21:51Speaker 2: next to it.
- 21:51Speaker 1: You got one of your lullums, on of your happy lullies.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Oh my god. Now should we talk about the sport
- 21:59Speaker 2: of hall of Fame dinner, of course, because that was
- 22:02Speaker 2: last Monday, and Liza and I were talking about and
- 22:05Speaker 2: going down there on the night. I was sitting between
- 22:08Speaker 2: Shierrol McMahon ye and Liz Ellis have great trouble. Well,
- 22:12Speaker 2: I haven't had a chance to sit and have a
- 22:14Speaker 2: drink with those two with no official anything going on,
- 22:17Speaker 2: because Charelle's now the GM of the Vixens, so she's
- 22:20Speaker 2: in serious netball mode. This is obviously in serious network mode.
- 22:23Speaker 2: It was so chill and just a fun night. None
- 22:26Speaker 2: of us had to do anything. All these had to
- 22:28Speaker 2: get up and give an award to Billy mc clark
- 22:31Speaker 2: because she got you bad so legend status, which was awesome.
- 22:33Speaker 2: But the funniest thing though, when you're inducted, it's quite
- 22:36Speaker 2: special that you get to choose anyone that's already in
- 22:39Speaker 2: the Hall of Fame to present you, and typically a
- 22:42Speaker 2: netball would choose a netball or whatever else. But I
- 22:44Speaker 2: could have had Dawn Fraser do it. I could have
- 22:46Speaker 2: had Greek Horman do it, whoever you wanted. Anyway, we
- 22:49Speaker 2: started talking about that and Annie Sargent was also on
- 22:53Speaker 2: our table and she was the one that did the
- 22:55Speaker 2: whole intro for me and gave me my award when
- 22:58Speaker 2: I was inducted, and Phil's who was Liz? Actually, I
- 23:02Speaker 2: don't know that she can remember what I mean, Annie,
- 23:05Speaker 2: That's surprising, isn't it. Just couldn't remember something. And then
- 23:09Speaker 2: Liz said who did Jaws? And Cherill just went blank
- 23:12Speaker 2: for a minute. I was like, oh God, you can't
- 23:14Speaker 2: remember either. Here's us talking about this being a big moment.
- 23:17Speaker 2: But it was Liz that did it, and Liz had
- 23:19Speaker 2: forgotten that she had done Cherelle's. But Cherelle had forgotten
- 23:24Speaker 2: Chre like because she's like, are you joking? Was you?
- 23:29Speaker 2: You idiot? So oh, Lizelle, it's your funny. She's got
- 23:33Speaker 2: too much on a plate these days, can't remember what's
- 23:35Speaker 2: going on. But Laura Gutt's got up. What an ambassador
- 23:38Speaker 2: for our sports, such a great speaker. It's a tough
- 23:42Speaker 2: room because there's nearly a thousand people in it, you know,
- 23:44Speaker 2: when people are eating, yeah, playouts and Knights of Orcs
- 23:47Speaker 2: and glasses and all that sort of stuff. The room
- 23:49Speaker 2: went silent when she got up there because she's just
- 23:52Speaker 2: she's such a figure, and she's obviously gorgeous, and she
- 23:55Speaker 2: spoke so beautifully you could hear a pin drop. But
- 23:58Speaker 2: she was funny. Just the whole thing was amazing. And
- 24:02Speaker 2: another one in the Hall of Fame, which is exciting.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Yea.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And who else went up that night? Cameron Smith? Yes, god,
- 24:10Speaker 2: who else was in there? Torah Bryight, yep Leyton Hewittt Yeah, yeah, wow, yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 2: some greeting, Yeah, in that one. It's great.
- 24:19Speaker 1: And he kept yourself nice. I didn't see you on
- 24:21Speaker 1: the front page of the Herald Sun.
- 24:23Speaker 2: No we didn't, but we did check our slippers into
- 24:25Speaker 2: the cloak room and got those on the way out
- 24:26Speaker 2: of walked out where those and I said we were
- 24:30Speaker 2: going to know we were very well both.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Good job, yeah, fun and you looked very nice too.
- 24:38Speaker 2: You're from Yeah. I did my own lashes. Yeah, don't
- 24:42Speaker 2: do that. No. I bought idiot proof ones too that
- 24:45Speaker 2: were already like self sticking. You literally have to line
- 24:48Speaker 2: them up and put them on.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Yeah, no, instood, I STU.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I leave that to the professional. Yeah, I know,
- 24:53Speaker 2: but I thought with these ones you can't get wrong.
- 24:55Speaker 2: You can, that's something that you can.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Someone else who got very dressed up quite recently is
- 25:03Speaker 1: our producer Alex who just snuck off and got her
- 25:06Speaker 1: self married, and our congratulations Alex and Luke and I
- 25:10Speaker 1: had been the Thursday before she got married on the Saturday,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and I got a text from her on Monday saying, well,
- 25:15Speaker 1: I had a wedding on the weekend.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I'm just bit tired. I might do the edit tomorrow.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Is that okay?
- 25:20Speaker 1: She'd say, I got married on the weekends. I had
- 25:22Speaker 1: a wedding, and so you know, we all have a
- 25:23Speaker 1: wedding on the weekend and you've been tired.
- 25:25Speaker 4: And one no, no, last so it was mine.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yeah, And then and then she accidentally texted me something
- 25:31Speaker 1: that was meant to go to her aunt. Because I
- 25:33Speaker 1: got this message, it's like I've only got these ones,
- 25:35Speaker 1: these couple from Dom and it's like I was just
- 25:39Speaker 1: sending her a note saying I think this might be
- 25:41Speaker 1: for someone else. And then a photo from a wedding
- 25:43Speaker 1: came through and I looked at it and went, I
- 25:45Speaker 1: think that's Alex. And the day before her wedding, maybe
- 25:50Speaker 1: two days, I had been asking her a million questions
- 25:53Speaker 1: about microphones at headphones, because last week we had you
- 25:57Speaker 1: girls down in Melbourne and we were meant to have
- 25:59Speaker 1: this head fine splitter that I organized, and then it
- 26:02Speaker 1: was the long one and blah blah blah. But anyway,
- 26:04Speaker 1: thank you Alex and very best wishes to you and Luke.
- 26:07Speaker 2: What a llision? Yeah? Lightly shit girl though I like that. Yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 2: just set up wedding.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Sorry you Reckon Albo talks about his wedding a lot
- 26:14Speaker 1: in cabinet Do they have to? You know what it's
- 26:16Speaker 1: like when you're working with someone who's planting and wedding.
- 26:18Speaker 1: It's a nightmare elbow speaking the first half ar of
- 26:21Speaker 1: a cabinet. Managin colors a blush and bashful and do
- 26:27Speaker 1: you think can we go for ites? Do you know
- 26:30Speaker 1: what the blush and bashful reference is?
- 26:32Speaker 2: No?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Really, still Magnolias, oh macalor is a blush and bashful
- 26:37Speaker 1: Oh no?
- 26:39Speaker 4: Which brings us to groups we've I've got an old
- 26:41Speaker 4: netble group called still Magnolige. You know you have your groups?
- 26:44Speaker 4: What do you call them?
- 26:45Speaker 2: So ours is nettie goals?
- 26:47Speaker 4: Oh okay? One group is still Magnolias that we catch
- 26:51Speaker 4: up with, and then the other one which we just
- 26:53Speaker 4: had the ANNUALDRENE meeting for two weekends last weekend? Was
- 26:56Speaker 4: it of the om n C which is the old
- 26:59Speaker 4: moles in It Ball Club. And yeah, so that's Carissa,
- 27:04Speaker 4: Tom's Sue, Kenny, Nikki Cusack, Shelly O'Donnell, Sammi Kinness and
- 27:09Speaker 4: I and we can catch every year. Yeah, so we
- 27:13Speaker 4: go away every and this time we just went to
- 27:18Speaker 4: Criisa's place at Coloroid, so went out there. It's fantastic. Yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 4: a great weekend. So it's still oh my goodness, yes, yes, no.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Stories to tell.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Oh not a hospital visit but perhaps could have should
- 27:30Speaker 4: have been, but it was. That was fun, lots of fun.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Tell me about your netble career where what was your
- 27:37Speaker 1: junior club?
- 27:37Speaker 2: Where did you start playing?
- 27:38Speaker 4: I started playing at Blacktown South Blacktown Netball Club and
- 27:43Speaker 4: there was a lady there that they had this beautiful
- 27:46Speaker 4: mauve uniform. That's that.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, was she tracksuit when you walked on?
- 27:51Speaker 4: No, I know you did have a tracksuit. Actually my
- 27:55Speaker 4: first year I had a cardigan that the lady crossed
- 27:57Speaker 4: the road from me, you know, to go with my
- 28:02Speaker 4: netball uniform.
- 28:04Speaker 1: No imagine imagine trying to get any teen or tween
- 28:10Speaker 1: girl to wear that.
- 28:11Speaker 4: Man, Yeah, like fablays, I don't know, but that's the thing,
- 28:13Speaker 4: like I would have been what nine or something, Yeah,
- 28:17Speaker 4: and then played junior reps at Blake toown through you know,
- 28:20Speaker 4: junior state champs and all the rest, and we actually
- 28:23Speaker 4: had a really good team. We won under fifteen's one
- 28:25Speaker 4: year we won, which was big that is for that association. Yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 4: we won under eighteen, it is, and we won under
- 28:31Speaker 4: twenty one. So we had a really good team going
- 28:33Speaker 4: through great coach Sandra Marks. She was just so just
- 28:37Speaker 4: so enthusiastic and you know, I think that one year
- 28:40Speaker 4: she's coaching a thousand, thousand months pregnant and just didn't
- 28:43Speaker 4: stop her. She was, you know, really enthusiastic, loved it
- 28:47Speaker 4: out of box and so.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Important though he had too hundred just that make you
- 28:51Speaker 2: enjoy the sport. And we've talked about this a lot
- 28:54Speaker 2: because there are some that don't do now and the
- 28:56Speaker 2: kids obviously don't want to cut no.
- 28:59Speaker 4: And it's so there seems to be so many rules
- 29:02Speaker 4: and regulations, and the thing is the sport's not in
- 29:04Speaker 4: a position to be too strict because there's so much
- 29:08Speaker 4: more competition now. When we played, every girl played Network,
- 29:12Speaker 4: so yeah, whereas now you've got competition from soccer, AFLW,
- 29:17Speaker 4: cricket for lots of competition.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Do you got to Did we talk about the money
- 29:21Speaker 2: earners for women's sport last week? No, I think it
- 29:24Speaker 2: was in the paper. It was somewhere I saw last
- 29:26Speaker 2: week and had the top five and it's women's sport's third.
- 29:31Speaker 2: It was cricket first, Women's cricket and women's AFL and
- 29:35Speaker 2: I was gobsmacked the difference. So, yeah, we do have
- 29:38Speaker 2: a lot of competition.
- 29:40Speaker 4: And it's not just at that elite level. It's getting
- 29:44Speaker 4: that lot of the base. So it's it's always been.
- 29:46Speaker 4: I think that was relied on the fact that every
- 29:48Speaker 4: girl plays nemtple. Well it's not the case now, So
- 29:51Speaker 4: you have to do more to keep them and especially
- 29:53Speaker 4: those teenagers, keep them engaged and if they're into reps
- 29:56Speaker 4: and showing a bit of promise, keeping them, keep me
- 29:59Speaker 4: engaged because off and they are doing a lot of
- 30:02Speaker 4: other sports as well. Why was they not doing dancing?
- 30:04Speaker 2: That's my daughter on Saturday she danced one. No, I'm
- 30:10Speaker 2: so not. I'm a dance mom. I think dance is wonderful, right,
- 30:14Speaker 2: I mean.
- 30:14Speaker 4: But do you go full dance mom?
- 30:16Speaker 2: Like? No?
- 30:17Speaker 4: And when't he thought it?
- 30:18Speaker 1: And we've got the right dance school where it was
- 30:21Speaker 1: run because that was everyone go and get an eating
- 30:24Speaker 1: disorder and make your hair perfect, you know, and so
- 30:27Speaker 1: there's none of one of that nonsense.
- 30:29Speaker 2: But yeah, I think there's dancing, and there's dancing. Yes,
- 30:32Speaker 2: the concert was good. It was cute. And it's cute
- 30:34Speaker 2: when you see all the little little kids come out
- 30:36Speaker 2: and they are all off with the fairies. They all
- 30:39Speaker 2: watch the person in front of them, the person have
- 30:41Speaker 2: frod cox.
- 30:41Speaker 4: That just looking for their parents in the crowd.
- 30:44Speaker 2: It was a disaster. It's so funny. I half loves
- 30:47Speaker 2: it our concept.
- 30:50Speaker 1: It's four hours or something. It feels like an eternity.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And I like Dotty to do quite a lot of
- 30:56Speaker 1: dance because then I go to it. It used to
- 30:58Speaker 1: be i'd go and I'd see her once in the
- 31:00Speaker 1: first act and once in the second act, and then
- 31:02Speaker 1: there's three hours and fifty two minutes of so now
- 31:05Speaker 1: it's like every third or four song much order comes on.
- 31:08Speaker 1: It's like, that's great, that's but a man.
- 31:10Speaker 2: It's tough. It's so tough.
- 31:12Speaker 1: But you know, I really object to the parents at
- 31:15Speaker 1: the concerts, whether it's the dance concert or school concert
- 31:17Speaker 1: or whatever my kid's done, we're going home. So no, mate,
- 31:20Speaker 1: this is a team sport.
- 31:22Speaker 2: We are in this, the.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Audience is in this together. We have to we have
- 31:26Speaker 1: to applaud one another's children for their efforts.
- 31:31Speaker 2: However, lay, no, not for four hours. I agree with
- 31:35Speaker 2: our constant an hour. That's enough, Like as everyone's.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Like a two four quarters. Oh you need not for
- 31:41Speaker 4: four hours.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Oh, I'm one hundred percent to be out of there
- 31:44Speaker 2: straight after my kid. That's a lot. It's not really four,
- 31:48Speaker 2: it's like two and a half, but either way, it
- 31:49Speaker 2: feels like four. Harpa told me she was danced like
- 31:53Speaker 2: four nine and sixteen. What do you think I was
- 31:56Speaker 2: doing in between her dads counting? Okay, yeah, well that's
- 32:01Speaker 2: that's what the program is for, right, isn't it? She
- 32:03Speaker 2: got right? Where are we? Well, fancy, we don't have
- 32:06Speaker 2: a problem. Have you broken the back of this year?
- 32:08Speaker 2: Where are we? Are we on the way out? It
- 32:10Speaker 2: said halftime? But she made me. She was there when
- 32:12Speaker 2: I booked the ticket, and she made me book the
- 32:14Speaker 2: front row. In the also she could see me.
- 32:18Speaker 4: Yeah, nice, there was no snow getting out.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Have good eyesight because you would stand out in the crowd.
- 32:25Speaker 2: This blonde beacon.
- 32:28Speaker 4: No, I think I guess one people behind because see
- 32:30Speaker 4: that that doesn't matter.
- 32:31Speaker 2: They can't really say. But yes, that was good times anyway,
- 32:34Speaker 2: done for another year. And where do you put the
- 32:36Speaker 2: dirty big costumes? She got the two too, you know
- 32:39Speaker 2: the ones that go ass. So now you've done another
- 32:42Speaker 2: lot of those. She does ballet, jazz and acros. It's
- 32:44Speaker 2: free costume, different costumes, and wants to keep them all
- 32:49Speaker 2: we horrors, we hire them, we send them back.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Sounds like in it's changed schools.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Well, yes, if anyone needs as for anything, let me know,
- 32:57Speaker 2: get half a line in it. I wouldn't be fast.
- 33:07Speaker 1: So that keeler you've had postnatboy, you've had a very
- 33:09Speaker 1: interesting career in TV.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yes, tell us.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Well, when I was at the AIS, I actually did
- 33:16Speaker 4: a degree in sports journalism. So when we went to
- 33:20Speaker 4: the AS, we had to be either working or studying
- 33:23Speaker 4: or doing something because we would train at like six
- 33:25Speaker 4: thirty in the morning five because it wasn't professional then,
- 33:28Speaker 4: so it was it was almost like they were gearing
- 33:30Speaker 4: you up to managing it with your life. So I
- 33:33Speaker 4: did a sports studies. Of course, they're majoring in journalism.
- 33:36Speaker 4: Cooy's something I sort of wanted to get into. And
- 33:38Speaker 4: then you know, I did a bit of writing, had
- 33:40Speaker 4: a column in The Herald. Yeah there was Remember there
- 33:43Speaker 4: was a magazine called Sports Weekly. I just have a
- 33:46Speaker 4: calling that as well. And then when Fox Sports started,
- 33:49Speaker 4: it was Premier Premier Sports the first year, and I
- 33:53Speaker 4: got a job there and I was doing a bit
- 33:54Speaker 4: of reporting, newsreading, presenting, and then as soon as your
- 33:58Speaker 4: face falls off, you become a producer, and that's what
- 34:02Speaker 4: I did. So yeah, so I produced there mostly. I
- 34:07Speaker 4: did a show called The Backpage.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's finished.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, I know one for years or something.
- 34:14Speaker 4: So I started it and it was Mike Gibson the
- 34:17Speaker 4: host and with Peter Fitz Peter fre lingas Wow. Yeah,
- 34:21Speaker 4: just Billy Birmingham just the most wonderful time. They were
- 34:24Speaker 4: just so good to work with. Did that for about
- 34:27Speaker 4: ten years, the first ten years of it's run, and
- 34:29Speaker 4: then Nebor got the rights to Fox got the rights
- 34:31Speaker 4: to the a n Z Champs. Then remember the start
- 34:34Speaker 4: of that. That was the first sort of national league
- 34:37Speaker 4: and it was five Australian teams, five New Zealand teams,
- 34:39Speaker 4: so launched that I was working at Fox and basically
- 34:44Speaker 4: you know, produced all of that, got it up and
- 34:45Speaker 4: running and it was like going gangbusters. And then all
- 34:48Speaker 4: of a sudden tail ten came along and oh, well
- 34:49Speaker 4: like that, so I thought I was So then I
- 34:51Speaker 4: went on to rugby and produced Rugby Union, did a
- 34:54Speaker 4: studio show and then started doing live outside broadcasts, went
- 34:59Speaker 4: to two Rugby World cus. I was in London for
- 35:01Speaker 4: eight weeks John a Rugby World Cup over there in
- 35:02Speaker 4: twenty fifteen. It was just fantastic. Yeah, great, It was
- 35:05Speaker 4: good because then I wasn't doing just my sport. I've
- 35:08Speaker 4: done so much more than that. And then so when
- 35:12Speaker 4: the SSN came up and started at nine, I was
- 35:16Speaker 4: sort of head hunters there to say well can you
- 35:18Speaker 4: get this up and running for us? And had five
- 35:20Speaker 4: years there so and it was great, But it was
- 35:24Speaker 4: just then getting to work with you know, we'll still
- 35:26Speaker 4: play u s. I'll call it playing with CAF and
- 35:28Speaker 4: Liz and two and all those guys. So guys that
- 35:31Speaker 4: you played with. Being on a Netbil trip again without trainingsticorious.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Hub that we talk about. Yeah, Kim, we was in
- 35:39Speaker 2: the Hui.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Yes, we had family Night every Thursday night, which was
- 35:44Speaker 3: basically the Oly day we weren't working, and we weren't
- 35:47Speaker 3: working the next day, so we would have family Night,
- 35:51Speaker 3: which just involved dinner, lots of drinks, and downstairs every week.
- 35:55Speaker 2: It was such great farm, but it was because of
- 35:57Speaker 2: the company that we managed to stay.
- 36:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I still remember that. There was one breakfast like
- 36:02Speaker 4: we're all handling it pretty well and we we'd gone
- 36:05Speaker 4: for a walk one day and had.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Breakfast, a really good milkdown, and then it was.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Like all sudden, someone was like, oh, you know, I
- 36:13Speaker 4: just talked to kids and blah blah, and then started crying.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Might have been this, and then cast started crying, and
- 36:17Speaker 4: then I started crying, and it got to stage We're
- 36:19Speaker 4: all sitting at breakfast and were all just crying, and
- 36:21Speaker 4: we're like, okay, let's.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Go on us. We missed the chip.
- 36:24Speaker 4: Yeah, And it was just it was a lot. We
- 36:25Speaker 4: were away from home for eight weeks and it was
- 36:29Speaker 4: and it was intense, Like it was two games. It
- 36:32Speaker 4: was four eight games a week, So Tuesday night two games,
- 36:35Speaker 4: Wednesday night two games, and then Saturday Sunday two games
- 36:38Speaker 4: extradray and in between you're prepping those and getting ready
- 36:43Speaker 4: for it. So there was not much downtime.
- 36:45Speaker 1: So it was essentially two rounds each week playing.
- 36:49Speaker 4: So normally before four matches around and we had eight,
- 36:53Speaker 4: so it was and we were doing every single one
- 36:55Speaker 4: a lot, and it was getting ridiculous. It was we
- 36:57Speaker 4: were getting blithering, which was funny, and the bing chicken
- 37:00Speaker 4: stories and it was. Yeah, but it was a lot
- 37:02Speaker 4: of fun. I think because it was such a good
- 37:04Speaker 4: group we got through it. Because we did have a
- 37:06Speaker 4: lot of fun. It were just delirious. Yeah, yeah, we
- 37:09Speaker 4: won that championship that was Vixen's. Yeah, only because I
- 37:15Speaker 4: remember just going out for a drink with Simone and
- 37:18Speaker 4: Die the coaches the night before the Thursday night. I
- 37:23Speaker 4: was at Thursday night. I was at Thursday night before.
- 37:26Speaker 4: I said one means to meet for coffee and it
- 37:27Speaker 4: did'ner up coffee. So yeah, that was so I remember
- 37:30Speaker 4: meeting meeting up with them. But yeah, they won, they
- 37:33Speaker 4: beat the fever.
- 37:34Speaker 1: It's beauty of coaching, isn't it, rather than playing. I
- 37:37Speaker 1: can have a drink march made of the only coaching
- 37:41Speaker 1: have you coached?
- 37:42Speaker 4: I coached my daughter's team at club level. No, I'm hopeless,
- 37:49Speaker 4: and I get to a competitive yeah yeah, and I'm
- 37:53Speaker 4: out now. Actually coaching at French from school. So yeah,
- 37:56Speaker 4: so of course we've been living down there for a
- 37:58Speaker 4: few years. I got roped into coaching there and I've
- 38:01Speaker 4: had the first for the last two years, and then
- 38:03Speaker 4: I had the junior Bees as well this year, and yeah,
- 38:05Speaker 4: and I just keep forgetting that they're.
- 38:07Speaker 2: School girls and I'm like, I'm what a legend you
- 38:10Speaker 2: are though, or do they just think you've just come
- 38:12Speaker 2: in to coach. Has anyone told them?
- 38:14Speaker 4: I think they I think they research it. They they
- 38:19Speaker 4: always I got this beautiful card at the end of
- 38:21Speaker 4: the season. They make them these great big cupboard cards.
- 38:24Speaker 4: They're fantastic, and they've found all these terrible fighters for
- 38:28Speaker 4: me and then and I had one year that they
- 38:30Speaker 4: had the ninety one team and they had all of
- 38:33Speaker 4: their heads on the other players. But yeah, which was
- 38:36Speaker 4: a huge. Yeah, so they're yeah, it's awesome. They're gray
- 38:40Speaker 4: ain't know, eight girls. Yeah, but they're great because a
- 38:43Speaker 4: lot of country girls there too, and they're just great.
- 38:46Speaker 4: They all love sport down there. It's fantastic. They will
- 38:48Speaker 4: get involved. Yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Well, it's been so great to have you here. Not
- 38:51Speaker 1: fabulous to have the godmother in my house. Well, do
- 38:55Speaker 1: you have to quickly mention that the silver Ferns wrapped
- 38:58Speaker 1: up that series in England. They cool mean for when
- 39:01Speaker 1: Yeah you did cool it, well done. So that's exciting
- 39:05Speaker 1: for next year. I'm looking forward to it, just if
- 39:08Speaker 1: anyone was wondering.
- 39:09Speaker 2: But yes, our Catherine. Finally, before I go, I have
- 39:12Speaker 2: brought for you.
- 39:13Speaker 1: I will be putting my Christmas tree up on the
- 39:16Speaker 1: thirtieth of November.
- 39:17Speaker 2: I'm breaking.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Progress, tide and fast for all.
- 39:21Speaker 1: On not before December, but to have as many members
- 39:26Speaker 1: of the family here as we can. It's either then
- 39:29Speaker 1: or the fifteenth of Descender. I think it would disapprove
- 39:32Speaker 1: of going that late.
- 39:34Speaker 4: So are you a real trail of fake tree?
- 39:37Speaker 2: It's fake yeh. We're talked about whether or not like,
- 39:41Speaker 2: because is the real trae of using our factory? And
- 39:45Speaker 2: at what point does this sustainability question get decided? In
- 39:50Speaker 2: five of a fake tree? You fake or real?
- 39:52Speaker 4: Unreal? I just smell yeah, yeah, I like the real tree.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I don't like the tidying up.
- 39:57Speaker 4: No, that's true.
- 40:00Speaker 2: My rubber vacuum point it doesn't like it. Can you
- 40:02Speaker 2: leave me an ornament to hang up? Oh?
- 40:05Speaker 1: I love that's all right. Fantastic stars you haven't got
- 40:09Speaker 1: to read.
- 40:12Speaker 2: My six foot three okay, okay.
- 40:16Speaker 1: But anyway, thank you, Kelly, thank you, thank you sing me.
- 40:19Speaker 1: You're a bit light on for Liz Dirt, so next
- 40:21Speaker 1: time that's your pointy work on, you just have a
- 40:24Speaker 1: little think about that.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Separate well.
- 40:26Speaker 4: You know, I'm always just screet, so yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 2: You can scroake here at no dribble. Did you not
- 40:33Speaker 2: read your pound? But yes, thank you for joining us.
