- 0:00Speaker 1: As Silverstone prepares to go retro for the Monster Energy
- 0:04Speaker 1: British Grand Prix, and we're thirty seven points up for grabs.
- 0:08Speaker 1: All eyes are back on our championship front runners at
- 0:10Speaker 1: Peko Vanyaya and Jorge Martin. I'm your host, Rinita Vanmullen,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and here to turn our pit talk into a podium
- 0:18Speaker 1: finish our Moto GP mastermind, Matt Clayton. Matt, Finally, Moto
- 0:24Speaker 1: GP is.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Back, Ronita, It's race week. We've been waiting far too
- 0:29Speaker 2: long to say it, but this is just the first
- 0:31Speaker 2: chapter of this fantastic end of the season. We've got
- 0:34Speaker 2: eleven more rounds still to go in a very very
- 0:36Speaker 2: short space of time, so we're not going to be
- 0:38Speaker 2: sick of saying this Race week before too much longer.
- 0:40Speaker 2: But as you say, we've got this really brilliantly poised
- 0:43Speaker 2: championship fight between Picko and Johey, and we're going for
- 0:46Speaker 2: a bit of a blast from the past this weekend
- 0:48Speaker 2: at Silvis.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Didn't we the retro round? I'm so excited. They haven't
- 0:52Speaker 1: done something like this in Moto GP. They do it
- 0:54Speaker 1: a lot in motocross and other championships, but I wanted
- 0:58Speaker 1: to ask you what, what manufacturer are you most excited
- 1:02Speaker 1: about seeing their retro livery.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'm more I gotta say I'm expecting a few Valentino
- 1:10Speaker 2: Rossi tributes or a lot of yellow I'll say that now,
- 1:12Speaker 2: whether it's on the VR forty sixty caddies or whether
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yamaha go back to the Rossi era or not. But
- 1:17Speaker 2: I think there'll be some great liveries from there. But
- 1:21Speaker 2: to me, the interesting part about some of this is
- 1:23Speaker 2: that some of the most evocative liveries, or the ones
- 1:25Speaker 2: you really remember, are all cigarette advertising, let's be perfectly honest.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So how they're going to get around that and use
- 1:31Speaker 2: these old color schemes with a nod to the past
- 1:33Speaker 2: where you can't talk about tobacco advertising any well, that's
- 1:35Speaker 2: kind of really funny. But I reckon an old Kenny
- 1:38Speaker 2: Roberts retro livery might feature pretty strongly as well. But
- 1:42Speaker 2: I cannot wait for the reveal of this because I mean,
- 1:44Speaker 2: a it's awesome social media foers, so it's right in
- 1:46Speaker 2: your wheelhouse or this sort of stuff. But seeing that
- 1:49Speaker 2: starting shot of the bikes on the grid for Sunday,
- 1:52Speaker 2: and you'll be going, hang on, which one's this? And
- 1:54Speaker 2: is hang on, that's a decaddy what's going on here,
- 1:56Speaker 2: the unfamiliarity of the grid and seeing guys in different
- 2:00Speaker 2: different colors, it's going to be absolutely fantastic.
- 2:03Speaker 1: At the time of recording this, they haven't actually released
- 2:06Speaker 1: this weekend's livery that's happening today Thursday in England as
- 2:10Speaker 1: part of the Day of champions But for me, I
- 2:15Speaker 1: hope that the teams go all out as well. I
- 2:17Speaker 1: hope we see some retro team give maybe some like sideburns,
- 2:21Speaker 1: some CD mustaches, things like that, just to fit the theme.
- 2:24Speaker 1: But the Yamaha is the one that I'm most excited
- 2:27Speaker 1: about because I feel like over the years they've had
- 2:29Speaker 1: some really cool designs on the bike, like you mentioned Valentino,
- 2:33Speaker 1: thinking about the bumblebee, the yellow and the black, that's
- 2:36Speaker 1: the first of my mind.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, abolutely. It's funny too. With some of the
- 2:40Speaker 2: other manufacturers, I think there's fairly obvious ones, Like I
- 2:44Speaker 2: would be goldsmacked if one of the Aprilias doesn't look
- 2:46Speaker 2: like a Max Biagi Aprillia from back in the day.
- 2:48Speaker 2: That to me seems like an absolute monty to happen.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But Yamaha, You's got so many options. You just really
- 2:54Speaker 2: don't know, and even things like Ducati, we so associate
- 2:56Speaker 2: them with red. But then would about some silver, a
- 2:59Speaker 2: bit of a nod back to the superbike days, bit
- 3:01Speaker 2: of a Troy baylors liverybaps. I mean, who knows is
- 3:03Speaker 2: there's so many options and that's one of the things
- 3:05Speaker 2: that's going to be so great about this weekend.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I think that's really cool that you mentioned Troy Bayless.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And I'm just thinking about the article that you wrote
- 3:11Speaker 1: talking about Fabio Digiy Antonio and his node to Troy Bayless,
- 3:16Speaker 1: a story that I had no idea how this boy
- 3:19Speaker 1: from Rome fell in love with and Ozzy all the
- 3:23Speaker 1: way back when he was in there. It's a really
- 3:24Speaker 1: cool story. If you haven't checked it out, definitely head
- 3:26Speaker 1: to our website to read all about a Fabio Digi
- 3:29Speaker 1: Antonio's journey to the number forty nine? Shall we say?
- 3:34Speaker 1: But Matt, I wanted to ask you, we need to
- 3:36Speaker 1: get back to the racing. Hecho is on a run
- 3:39Speaker 1: back to back wins. Do you think that this weekend
- 3:42Speaker 1: he can make it five in a row?
- 3:45Speaker 2: Look, the form book would suggest yes, because ever since
- 3:49Speaker 2: he fell off on the last lap at Cashalodia in
- 3:51Speaker 2: the sprint. No one's really see which way he's gone.
- 3:53Speaker 2: He's been absolutely awesome since then, six out of seven
- 3:56Speaker 2: since then. Yes, profited a little bit from Juge Martin
- 3:59Speaker 2: making that terrible mistake right near the end at the
- 4:01Speaker 2: Saxon Ring, but renitda. The thing about Silverston that's so
- 4:04Speaker 2: bizarre is that you can kind of take the form
- 4:07Speaker 2: book or certainly momentum year on year and pretty much
- 4:09Speaker 2: throw it out the window. We've got this bizarre set
- 4:12Speaker 2: of circumstances where we've had nine different winners in nine
- 4:15Speaker 2: years at Silverston, we've had no repeat winners. It's one
- 4:18Speaker 2: of those races that just when you think you've got
- 4:20Speaker 2: a sus as to what's going to happen, something comes
- 4:23Speaker 2: out of the blue. And we saw it last year.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Pecko had that race absolutely in his keeping and it's
- 4:28Speaker 2: like Alasia Spargo is getting close here, Alasias Bargo is
- 4:31Speaker 2: getting very close here, and then eight quarters from the end,
- 4:33Speaker 2: on the last lap, he took the lead and won
- 4:34Speaker 2: the race. So look, you would have to suggest in
- 4:37Speaker 2: the form that he's in, he's on such a run
- 4:40Speaker 2: at the moment he's trying to become the first rider
- 4:42Speaker 2: to win five Grand Prina row in five years. So
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's been a long time since we've seen this. But
- 4:47Speaker 2: I kind of like a Prillier this weekend because I
- 4:49Speaker 2: think it's a circuit that really placed the strengths of
- 4:52Speaker 2: the RSGP. We know Alasia's been good there, Maverick Vignalez
- 4:55Speaker 2: has been very very good at Silverston over the journey's
- 4:58Speaker 2: been on the podium four times. Look, Maverick could be
- 5:01Speaker 2: absolutely amazing or nowhere. It's going to be one of
- 5:03Speaker 2: the two extremes because that's the way he tends to roll.
- 5:06Speaker 2: But if Pecko's going to have a challenger, I think
- 5:08Speaker 2: it's coming from a Prillier this weekend. And look, I
- 5:10Speaker 2: have a history on this side.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That's interesting for when I was like doing research earlier.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Today looking at Silverstone, you know, it's not one of
- 5:18Speaker 1: the most demanding tracks that we go to. It has
- 5:21Speaker 1: long straights, it has fast flowing corners. I instantly think
- 5:25Speaker 1: of Mark Marquez because I feel like this style of
- 5:27Speaker 1: circuit seems to suit him. And I was looking back
- 5:30Speaker 1: at at winners, like you said, there's nine but Mark Marquez,
- 5:33Speaker 1: Valentino Rossi and Juge Lorenzo are the most winningest riders
- 5:36Speaker 1: since Moto GP's returned to their circuit, and I was
- 5:40Speaker 1: curious thinking, could this be the weekend that maybe Mark
- 5:44Speaker 1: gets his final final first you caddy podium at Silverston? Potentially?
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah, look curious. I mean, I think of the eleven
- 5:53Speaker 2: rounds we've got left to go, this is probably not
- 5:56Speaker 2: one of the ones that would make my top three
- 5:57Speaker 2: E races. I think Mark can win for the rest
- 5:59Speaker 2: of the year. I think we've got a couple of
- 6:01Speaker 2: anti clockwise circuits coming up, including one a little bit
- 6:04Speaker 2: closer to my home than yours for Ronetta in a
- 6:05Speaker 2: few months time at Philip Island. But look, he's you know,
- 6:08Speaker 2: he's good. He's good everywhere, isn't he? But he's good
- 6:10Speaker 2: at Sylveston. You remember just about one that race cirl
- 6:14Speaker 2: was it probably four years ago now when Alex Rinn's
- 6:16Speaker 2: got him on the last corner when we're using the
- 6:18Speaker 2: old the old National stuff, it is straight there. So
- 6:21Speaker 2: he's certainly been close. He's he's had a few monumental
- 6:24Speaker 2: accidents here as well. But look interesting with Mark, I
- 6:27Speaker 2: think he the dynamic between him and what happens on
- 6:32Speaker 2: the juge Martin side for the rest of the season.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Of me is really interesting because you know, Martine set
- 6:37Speaker 2: himself in the lead up to Silveston that they're kind
- 6:39Speaker 2: of in their own little silo now at Pramac because
- 6:41Speaker 2: Julles off to Aprillier and Pramac's off to Yamaha, so
- 6:44Speaker 2: they're kind of operating in this bizarre circumstance for the
- 6:46Speaker 2: next eleven races where yeah, he's the championship contender, but
- 6:50Speaker 2: you have to wonder if he wants to win Vita
- 6:52Speaker 2: Catti and Dojakati. What a win for Pravak. You know,
- 6:55Speaker 2: it's this really strange situation where you've got Tea van
- 6:57Speaker 2: Ryder moving to new pastures. So I think you're seeing
- 7:00Speaker 2: Mark push forward. It wouldn't surprise me ifore Hay kind
- 7:03Speaker 2: of levels off a little bit, which is why I
- 7:05Speaker 2: think it's hard to look past Peco for the championship.
- 7:07Speaker 2: But you can never rule anything out with Mark. We
- 7:10Speaker 2: know how good he is on a Sunday, and I
- 7:13Speaker 2: guess if he's standing on the top step of the podium,
- 7:15Speaker 2: it would be rather bizarre if he was in a
- 7:16Speaker 2: different livery as well. For his first race, we did
- 7:19Speaker 2: Docadi because that will be one we'll look back in
- 7:21Speaker 2: ten years time ago he won wearing that that would
- 7:23Speaker 2: be a really really.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Strange one and hopefully hopefully with the full vintage get
- 7:27Speaker 1: up as well. But oh, that'd be brilliant. What about
- 7:32Speaker 1: the KTMS at this circuit, I was looking at the
- 7:35Speaker 1: weather forecast and it looks like it's going to be okay.
- 7:38Speaker 1: But we know it's England, so we know that weather
- 7:39Speaker 1: can change at any minute, and the race has been
- 7:42Speaker 1: canceled there in the past. You to the weather, but
- 7:45Speaker 1: what about the KTMS. How do you think we're going
- 7:47Speaker 1: to see Bradbinder and Pedro Costa go this weekend?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah, those two words that never should be used together,
- 7:53Speaker 2: England and summer. But at the moment, like you say,
- 7:56Speaker 2: the forecast is fire, but let's check back in a
- 7:58Speaker 2: few days time. I certainly don't trust it. Look, Katm's
- 8:01Speaker 2: kind of feels they've hit a bit of a rut
- 8:03Speaker 2: of late in that we saw how good Pedro Acosta
- 8:06Speaker 2: was in the first part of the season, and I
- 8:08Speaker 2: don't necessarily think his level has dropped. I think there's
- 8:11Speaker 2: a bit of frustration with him in the last few races,
- 8:13Speaker 2: where he's maybe tried to override a bike that can't
- 8:16Speaker 2: be there. He's had a few crashes, which he certainly
- 8:17Speaker 2: wasn't doing at the start of the season. Brad Benn
- 8:20Speaker 2: is in an interesting spot because he's only two points
- 8:24Speaker 2: behind Pedro in the standings. But if you looked at
- 8:26Speaker 2: it by the number of you know, paulum inches as
- 8:28Speaker 2: they would say newspaper parlance, that the two riders have got,
- 8:31Speaker 2: it feels like a cost has just dwarfed every other
- 8:34Speaker 2: rider on a KTM this year. So Brad's kind of
- 8:36Speaker 2: flown a little bit under the radar. He's so good
- 8:39Speaker 2: last year that he set such a high standard that
- 8:42Speaker 2: it was probably unrealistic for him to be able to
- 8:44Speaker 2: continue to do that. But it wouldn't surprise me in
- 8:46Speaker 2: the slightest if KTM actually can get on terms with
- 8:51Speaker 2: definitely to Katty and probably are Prillia this weekend. Wouldn't
- 8:54Speaker 2: surprise me if he's a guy to get up the front.
- 8:56Speaker 2: But he's a guy who kind of needs a big
- 8:59Speaker 2: back end of the year because I know there are
- 9:01Speaker 2: separate teams at the moment, him and Pedro, but you
- 9:04Speaker 2: can't tell me that it's important for one to finish
- 9:05Speaker 2: in front of the other end of the championship next
- 9:07Speaker 2: year before they become teammates, because Pedro is going to
- 9:10Speaker 2: be going in there. The others have already won Grand Prix.
- 9:13Speaker 2: He hasn't yet, and yet's the operative word in that.
- 9:15Speaker 2: But if you go into a factory team alongside a
- 9:19Speaker 2: guy like Binder and you've beaten him in the Championship
- 9:21Speaker 2: as a rookie on a gas gas, you can't tell
- 9:23Speaker 2: me that's going to have some sort of carryover to
- 9:25Speaker 2: next year. So that's a little sort of battle within
- 9:28Speaker 2: a brand that I'm watching for the rest of the season.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I mean, look, neither of we're going to win the championship.
- 9:32Speaker 2: They could win a race potentially, But who's going to
- 9:35Speaker 2: be the top dog in that team next year? I
- 9:36Speaker 2: think this year will go a long way towards determining that.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I can definitely see what you mean going into
- 9:42Speaker 1: next year being teammates, had you having that full factory
- 9:46Speaker 1: pressure as well, that's going to be a big adjustment
- 9:49Speaker 1: for him. Brad's obviously been in that team for a
- 9:51Speaker 1: few years now, he knows how it all works. I'm
- 9:54Speaker 1: curious to see with next year. There's so many changes
- 9:57Speaker 1: as well. Happening obviously, Mark going to fact Caddy or
- 10:01Speaker 1: Hate Martin going to a Prillier. So much changes, so
- 10:05Speaker 1: much is going to be happening on track and off
- 10:08Speaker 1: track that I just cannot wait to see. But I
- 10:11Speaker 1: want to ask you further down. We've covered most of
- 10:13Speaker 1: the European manufacturers. Now we've got a head to our
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yamaha and Honda counterparts in the Japanese Championship that's happening
- 10:21Speaker 1: further down the field. Out of those two manufacturers, do
- 10:25Speaker 1: you think we're going to see the Yamahas shine that
- 10:29Speaker 1: bit more this weekend? Heading into Silverstone.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I feel like I need some old school seventies binoculars
- 10:36Speaker 2: to see far down the grid where the Hondaga and
- 10:38Speaker 2: the Yamaha guys are. It's a long way back there
- 10:40Speaker 2: for most and let's be perfectly honest, but I think
- 10:42Speaker 2: if you're going to look at either of those two brands,
- 10:45Speaker 2: I still think they're starting from really low bases. It's
- 10:48Speaker 2: pretty clear Yamaha to me, they have a pathway to
- 10:52Speaker 2: get better, and it's just going to take them a really,
- 10:55Speaker 2: really long time to get there. But you suspect that
- 10:58Speaker 2: they know the way out and forward towards that. I'm
- 11:01Speaker 2: not sure Honda know the way out yet. I think
- 11:03Speaker 2: that's the difference between the two. I don't think they're
- 11:04Speaker 2: created equal in that sense. And to my mind, look,
- 11:07Speaker 2: we've seen since we did our last podcast, Shawi mers
- 11:10Speaker 2: Re signed with Repsol Honda A probably because the lack
- 11:14Speaker 2: of options anywhere else. Let's be perfectly honest, and when
- 11:16Speaker 2: you're a factory Honda rider, at least you have a
- 11:18Speaker 2: nice bank balance to pay for all the medical bills
- 11:21Speaker 2: that the bike's going to give you, and it spits
- 11:22Speaker 2: you off and pretty much most sessions you see the
- 11:25Speaker 2: graphic Juan Meir crash rider, Okay, it seems to come
- 11:28Speaker 2: up quite a bit. But of those two manufacturers, I
- 11:32Speaker 2: like the direction that Yamaha is heading in and I
- 11:34Speaker 2: think that having Fabio Guadauro there at least gives you
- 11:37Speaker 2: a benchmark to know that if the bike's good, he'll
- 11:39Speaker 2: be there. And I'm not sure he's going to be
- 11:42Speaker 2: a guy you're going to see sniffing around a podiums
- 11:44Speaker 2: for the rest of the year, but there'll be certain
- 11:46Speaker 2: days on certain tracks where you go Fabia's in the
- 11:48Speaker 2: top six and it'll be you know, it might not
- 11:52Speaker 2: even be for a full race. You could see him
- 11:53Speaker 2: like getting a top five finish in a sprint, perhaps
- 11:56Speaker 2: because it's half the distance and less time for things
- 11:58Speaker 2: to go wrong and so on and so forth. He
- 12:00Speaker 2: can maybe over right transcend the quality of the bike,
- 12:03Speaker 2: he could say, over a shorter distance. So I kind
- 12:06Speaker 2: of like the way they're going. I can see a
- 12:08Speaker 2: road back for them. But the Honda thing, Look, we
- 12:10Speaker 2: know that their rider lineup is probably going to stay
- 12:13Speaker 2: unchanged now from this year, which is crazy to think
- 12:16Speaker 2: because obviously Luca, Meridian, Jahanzako already on multi year contracts.
- 12:20Speaker 2: It looks like Takanakagami's probably going to stay by default
- 12:24Speaker 2: because Iogura is going to bob up elsewhere, which I'm
- 12:26Speaker 2: sure we'll talk about. But Fabio is the as and
- 12:28Speaker 2: the whole mr. He's the guy that can lead them
- 12:31Speaker 2: sort of, not maybe to the Promised Land, but certainly
- 12:34Speaker 2: out of the basement and this weekend. Look, it's a
- 12:36Speaker 2: fast flying track. He's been pretty good around there in
- 12:38Speaker 2: the past. But there's just so many decaddies on the grid,
- 12:41Speaker 2: Like you know, there's eight decaddies on the grid, and
- 12:43Speaker 2: do you trust the Yamaha to be capable of beating
- 12:46Speaker 2: more than one or two of them, it's hard to see.
- 12:49Speaker 2: So look, if he was to finish in the top
- 12:51Speaker 2: ten on Sunday, I think Yamaha would be pretty rapped.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. I think Fabio he's having to override that
- 12:58Speaker 1: bike so much more then anyone would want to ride.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And he even admitted that in a recent interview. He
- 13:05Speaker 1: said that he's got the engine power there and that's
- 13:09Speaker 1: what they need. But everything that they had as a
- 13:11Speaker 1: positive before they upgraded that engine has lacked and now
- 13:14Speaker 1: they're having to figure out a way they can combine everything.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And we can see it. You can see in his
- 13:19Speaker 1: face when he takes that helmet off. He is drained.
- 13:22Speaker 1: He's exhausted because he's having to ride that bike like
- 13:25Speaker 1: no tomorrow. It's similar to how Mark Marquez had to
- 13:28Speaker 1: on that Honda for so many years. I think with
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yamaha they don't want to head in that same direction
- 13:34Speaker 1: that Honda have done, where they've kind of put everything
- 13:36Speaker 1: into Mark and to winning and developed the bike for him,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and I think Fabio's also realize that and the fact
- 13:43Speaker 1: that he's going, Okay, we need to work on these
- 13:46Speaker 1: but I also need the feedback from Calany, the feedback
- 13:49Speaker 1: from Alex and he's so excited to have Pramac Yamaha
- 13:52Speaker 1: as well. He goes it's going to be the same.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It's not a privateer satellite team. He wants it to
- 13:58Speaker 1: be just as factory as he is. He can all
- 14:00Speaker 1: build and develop that bike together, so hopefully we will
- 14:03Speaker 1: see those Yamaha's closer to the front next year.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Well, and that point you mentioned about Mark is so
- 14:09Speaker 2: key to where Honda finds itself now because for so
- 14:11Speaker 2: many years, I'm not sure that was the best or
- 14:14Speaker 2: second best bike in Motor GP, but he made it
- 14:16Speaker 2: what it was. So at the end of the day
- 14:18Speaker 2: you could look at the standings and say, well, Hond's
- 14:20Speaker 2: still winning the championship, not realizing that he was the
- 14:23Speaker 2: one that was making the difference. And then once it
- 14:25Speaker 2: got to twenty twenty and Mark got hurt and he
- 14:27Speaker 2: was off the grid, Everyone's like, oh, so this is
- 14:30Speaker 2: where the Honda is. So for years, Mark had probably
- 14:33Speaker 2: masked a few of the problems that brand had. Now
- 14:36Speaker 2: that he's he was intermittently back between injuries. Now that
- 14:39Speaker 2: he's gone and you can see the whole that they're in.
- 14:41Speaker 2: They're sort of paying the price now for like twenty seventeen,
- 14:44Speaker 2: eighteen nineteen, where Mark was so good he was winning
- 14:47Speaker 2: everything anyway, even though the bike wasn't great. So if
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yamaha can avoid going down that path where the whole
- 14:53Speaker 2: things depended on one guy overachieving on its bike, then
- 14:56Speaker 2: that's a big tick for them, I.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Think, yeah, definitely. And then you can say is coming
- 15:00Speaker 1: in in a few years everything's going to change anyway,
- 15:03Speaker 1: which I'm sure we will definitely discuss at a further
- 15:05Speaker 1: point in time. But Matt, we have a very special
- 15:09Speaker 1: guest on this podcast today. We were so lucky to
- 15:12Speaker 1: catch up with the wild card for this weekend at Silverstone,
- 15:16Speaker 1: Remy Gardner, ahead of his yamahat Test team debut. So
- 15:20Speaker 1: he's not going to be writing the Monster Energy Yamaha
- 15:23Speaker 1: this weekend. He is replacing the injured test writer Cal
- 15:27Speaker 1: crutch Low. So let's hear from the Aussie and how
- 15:29Speaker 1: he's feeling being back in Moto GP. Remy, thank you
- 15:34Speaker 1: so much for taking this time to chat with us
- 15:37Speaker 1: at Fox Sports. And you are obviously back in Moto
- 15:40Speaker 1: GP this weekend, and we know Silverstone is a track
- 15:43Speaker 1: that holds fond memories for you, especially from that Moto
- 15:47Speaker 1: two win back in twenty twenty one. How are you
- 15:50Speaker 1: feeling coming into this weekend.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a track that you know, I've always liked
- 15:57Speaker 3: actually before that winning Silverston in twenty one. It was
- 16:00Speaker 3: actually the first track I ever made. It's part for
- 16:03Speaker 3: May when I was racing Moto too, So yeah, it's
- 16:07Speaker 3: a special place in my heart. Here. I actually put
- 16:09Speaker 3: the mistral on the front row in the dry and
- 16:11Speaker 3: nearly up qualified bang Yaya on the mistrail here, so
- 16:15Speaker 3: I was I was pretty impressed with my performance.
- 16:18Speaker 4: So yeah, it's a it's a.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Track that you know, old special memories I actually had
- 16:23Speaker 3: it was having a decent race with the gpbike in
- 16:25Speaker 3: twenty two years as well, but we made an all
- 16:28Speaker 3: tire choice unfortunately dropped like a stone towards the end.
- 16:30Speaker 4: But no chip.
- 16:33Speaker 3: It's a it's a track. I enjoy it and hopefully
- 16:35Speaker 3: it can suit the.
- 16:36Speaker 2: The Is that a real thing when you go back
- 16:40Speaker 2: to a track where you've had some successive World championship
- 16:42Speaker 2: Like when you walk through, you drive in through the
- 16:44Speaker 2: you know, through the gates. Is that a real thing
- 16:45Speaker 2: where you go oh yeah, Like, is it there's a
- 16:47Speaker 2: good memory when I've left this place or is it
- 16:49Speaker 2: just onto the next the whole time? Do you like
- 16:51Speaker 2: look back at that sort of stuff?
- 16:53Speaker 3: Uh, not not in that depth, to be honest, But
- 16:57Speaker 3: I think it's all just kind of your you know, like, yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 3: great fansic sex sex here. You know, hopefully it should
- 17:03Speaker 3: be an easier weekend than normal.
- 17:05Speaker 4: That's about it.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I wanted to ask you've obviously come from well
- 17:10Speaker 1: two bikes that you're currently competing in over Intomoto GP.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You did the last round at Saxon Ring with the
- 17:16Speaker 1: Monster Energy team and now you're on the test team
- 17:19Speaker 1: bike for Cal crutch Low. Mentally, how difficult or challenging
- 17:25Speaker 1: is it to go from the super bike bike over
- 17:28Speaker 1: Intomoto GP.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the superbike is completely different. I mean
- 17:35Speaker 3: it's compared to the JP bike, so it's like starting
- 17:38Speaker 3: from zero, you know. Yeah, tires are completely different. There's
- 17:43Speaker 3: less power, a little bit heavy I think, but not
- 17:47Speaker 3: that much. But yeah, just different riding style, completely different
- 17:51Speaker 3: riding style, and obviously there's a lot more things to
- 17:54Speaker 3: manage on a GP bike. You know, you have the
- 17:56Speaker 3: right height controls, you have the start devices you have,
- 18:01Speaker 3: you know, carmon brakes that need stay in temperature. The
- 18:03Speaker 3: tires are more critical to temperature, so everything small stiff.
- 18:08Speaker 4: There's a lot more more to manage with the GP bike.
- 18:12Speaker 4: So yeah, honestly, it's kind of like starting from zero.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Maybe a bit less starting from zero this time now
- 18:18Speaker 3: that we got Saxon ring under our belt.
- 18:19Speaker 4: But yeah, Saxon ring definitely got thrown in the deep.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Bend well, and a weird one too with Saxon ring
- 18:25Speaker 2: because well, if I understand correctly, you were out doing
- 18:28Speaker 2: some motocross or something with Tito about when you got
- 18:31Speaker 2: the call or thereabouts. But Saxon ring is not your
- 18:34Speaker 2: standard circuit to come back and ride a motor GP
- 18:36Speaker 2: bike when you haven't ridden one for the best part
- 18:38Speaker 2: of two years, because there's nowhere quite like the Saxon ring.
- 18:40Speaker 2: It's pretty much a one of one. So how deep
- 18:43Speaker 2: into that weekend were you in Germany before you felt
- 18:45Speaker 2: all right, I'm actually on top of this or did
- 18:47Speaker 2: you never quite get to that point?
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, so I was out.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it was just I think, Yeah, I was riding
- 18:55Speaker 3: motocross with Tito and we're having lunch down in Yibi
- 19:01Speaker 3: next don or in Spain and.
- 19:03Speaker 4: I watched on the GB. I watched the GB.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I didn't even think anything of it, and got back
- 19:06Speaker 3: home with washing the bike and had about twenty five
- 19:09Speaker 3: missed calls and that was you know, part manager and
- 19:12Speaker 3: pick up the phone idiot and he's like, you want
- 19:15Speaker 3: to do this and I was like, yeah, I think
- 19:17Speaker 3: it should be fun. So yeah, definitely didn't expect it, but.
- 19:23Speaker 4: You know, I think.
- 19:24Speaker 3: It ended a pretty pretty okay and the end, I
- 19:26Speaker 3: think we did have a decent performance. And yeah, so
- 19:31Speaker 3: I'm glad I did it. I'm to get them back again,
- 19:33Speaker 3: so they can't be too unhappy happy with.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Me exactly back again this weekend. But like I mentioned,
- 19:40Speaker 1: you are filling in for injured Cal Crutch. They on
- 19:43Speaker 1: the test team. With this weekend and the plan that
- 19:46Speaker 1: you've got going ahead, how much of this weekend is
- 19:49Speaker 1: testing parts and products for the factory riders.
- 19:54Speaker 4: I know I'll have to be doing a little bit
- 19:56Speaker 4: of testing this weekend.
- 19:57Speaker 3: I don't exactually know what the plan is yet because
- 20:00Speaker 3: I actually haven't had time to sit down in the case. Yeah,
- 20:03Speaker 3: I've been flat out this morning, but yeah, I know,
- 20:06Speaker 3: I know they already said to me that, yeah, okay,
- 20:08Speaker 3: you know, we have other testing, so we have do
- 20:10Speaker 3: have items to test.
- 20:12Speaker 4: But for sure, and my mentality is, you know, I'm
- 20:14Speaker 4: still here.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I'm a racer, here to race and do the best
- 20:17Speaker 3: of course, and do the best possible. So yeah, there's
- 20:21Speaker 3: for sure it's not going to be easy to balance
- 20:23Speaker 3: that race.
- 20:24Speaker 4: We can test strategy, but.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Hopefully you know, the guys can understand the racing mantality
- 20:29Speaker 3: as well.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I was going to ask you, actually, it
- 20:33Speaker 2: had been what eighteen months near enough since you've ridden
- 20:36Speaker 2: a motor GP bike since what Valencia twenty two until
- 20:39Speaker 2: you get back on the bike at Saxon Ring. How
- 20:42Speaker 2: much of the game moved on in those eight eight months,
- 20:44Speaker 2: Because obviously you're, yeah, you park that thing at Valencia
- 20:46Speaker 2: at the end of twenty two, you're probably not expecting
- 20:48Speaker 2: to get back on emjor GP bikes. So when you
- 20:50Speaker 2: do get back on one, were there things we're going, Oh,
- 20:53Speaker 2: you know, this is really taking a step from what
- 20:55Speaker 2: I was used to. Were there some things you really
- 20:56Speaker 2: noticed have moved on?
- 21:00Speaker 4: Honestly, I didn't feel like it was night and day
- 21:04Speaker 4: for me. I mean, it kind of just shot like
- 21:06Speaker 4: a GP bike.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Again, definitely different than the KTM for better or worse
- 21:12Speaker 3: in that respect, but yeah, definitely definitely felt like a
- 21:17Speaker 3: GP bike. And you know what surprised me, to be honest,
- 21:21Speaker 3: was the like, the amount.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Of fast guys now.
- 21:24Speaker 3: I mean, I mean there was many fast guys back
- 21:26Speaker 3: when I was, you know, twenty two, but you know
- 21:29Speaker 3: it's you know, if you're not if you're not absolutely
- 21:35Speaker 3: pushing to the limit, he's just going to be dead last,
- 21:37Speaker 3: n't you Like. It's just it's there's so many fast
- 21:41Speaker 3: guys that you know, you just have to be so
- 21:44Speaker 3: on it even do some sort of results. So, yeah,
- 21:48Speaker 3: everyone's extremely fast. The manufacturers, there's a lot of fast
- 21:51Speaker 3: manufacturers now, and yeah, it's incredible how father bikes have come.
- 21:56Speaker 3: But I didn't feel like it was night and day
- 21:58Speaker 3: speed wise. I think it's just kind of the level
- 22:03Speaker 3: of everyone. Yeah, pretty impressive more than anything. Didn't surprise
- 22:09Speaker 3: me because I know, but just impressive.
- 22:14Speaker 1: This weekend at Silverstone is the seventy fifth anniversary. The
- 22:19Speaker 1: celebration it's the Vintage Round, the Retro Round. At the
- 22:23Speaker 1: time of recording this, we haven't seen any announcement of
- 22:27Speaker 1: the liveries that we're going to see, So can you
- 22:29Speaker 1: give us a little sneak peeker to what's happening on
- 22:32Speaker 1: your bike this weekend?
- 22:34Speaker 3: Not sure if I'm getting looked right now. I'm getting
- 22:38Speaker 3: I'm getting looked right now. I don't think I can
- 22:40Speaker 3: say anything, but I'd love to. I would love to,
- 22:43Speaker 3: But I'm getting some pretty pretty mean stair doowns right now.
- 22:52Speaker 2: But what's interesting. You want to make sure that you
- 22:58Speaker 2: get another call up, really so, but we've been keep
- 23:00Speaker 2: you on your best behavior. But just as a general concept,
- 23:03Speaker 2: it really feels like this is resonated with a whole paddock,
- 23:06Speaker 2: like everyone's got up for this. It's just one of
- 23:08Speaker 2: those things that's come up at a particular time of year,
- 23:11Speaker 2: and it feels like once one or two people or
- 23:13Speaker 2: manufacturers committed, everyone's like, oh, we've got to do this too.
- 23:17Speaker 2: And I guess the cool thing about this sport, and
- 23:18Speaker 2: obviously you know it from a fan and being in
- 23:20Speaker 2: a family and racing yourself, is there so much history
- 23:24Speaker 2: and we're always moving on to the next season and
- 23:26Speaker 2: the next thing. It's such a great thing for the
- 23:28Speaker 2: sport to look back and celebrate its past because there's
- 23:31Speaker 2: so many color schemes and styles and the way the
- 23:35Speaker 2: racing looks. Now, I think that's the most exciting thing
- 23:38Speaker 2: for all you guys to see what everyone else is doing.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I think.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I mean when I heard it was happening, I was
- 23:45Speaker 3: over the moon and that I could be joining this
- 23:48Speaker 3: race to do it.
- 23:49Speaker 4: So yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I also I've designed a special helmet as well from
- 23:54Speaker 3: a past raider as well.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I will say this is a Yamaha pass Raider. There
- 24:00Speaker 4: you go, I'll give you that.
- 24:02Speaker 2: No, Doney looks when you say that.
- 24:04Speaker 3: No, I'll give you that. But and yeah, the letters
- 24:07Speaker 3: are awesome. I mean, boots, everything just looks amazing. So yeah,
- 24:12Speaker 3: I think it's really cool.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I think.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I think yea hopefully that all the teams were kind
- 24:17Speaker 3: of on board with it because I think it's a
- 24:19Speaker 3: really cool idea really cool concept. And you know, I
- 24:22Speaker 3: like the classic stuff. I mean I just told you
- 24:24Speaker 3: before about all my classic cars, so I don't actually
- 24:27Speaker 3: have a new car, so yeah, I'm I'm the old school.
- 24:31Speaker 3: I like old school stuff, so it's it's quite cool
- 24:33Speaker 3: for me and that I can be joining me in
- 24:35Speaker 3: this race when it's happening.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Well, we were talking off camera earlier and were saying,
- 24:40Speaker 1: you know, it would be cool if you had the sideburns.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Is that what you call them, Matt, That the big
- 24:44Speaker 1: big side burns, robbers, the big robbers poppers.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 4: And the mullet, Yeah I had. I mean in Mizana.
- 24:52Speaker 3: If you go and check photos from Hiszana this year,
- 24:55Speaker 3: just the best mullet.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Honestly, I was so proud of my mullet.
- 24:58Speaker 2: It was sick.
- 24:59Speaker 4: It was so long, black in the air. It was amazing.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Yeah, the hairdresser cut a bit too much offen unfortunately,
- 25:06Speaker 3: so yeah, it needs to go back.
- 25:09Speaker 4: But my hair grows fast. You know, I think by
- 25:12Speaker 4: the end of the year, I should have a decent molet.
- 25:14Speaker 3: It again, the only thing I've got a wedding from
- 25:16Speaker 3: like a very close family member, and I've been told
- 25:19Speaker 3: that if I turn.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Up with a mullet, I'll be basically kicked out.
- 25:22Speaker 2: So that's what we've got photoshop for me. You'll be fine,
- 25:26Speaker 2: just let just let it fly. But we're sort of
- 25:29Speaker 2: talking about the retro side of things and sort of
- 25:32Speaker 2: linking it back to where you are now. I'd be
- 25:33Speaker 2: curious as to how you feel sort of the Motor
- 25:37Speaker 2: GP paddock and the series feels of working in that
- 25:40Speaker 2: environment compared to what you used to now in the
- 25:42Speaker 2: day job at World Superbikes. Is there a significant difference
- 25:46Speaker 2: between the two? I mean, we know Superbikes is generally
- 25:48Speaker 2: a little bit more relaxed and probably less uptight than
- 25:50Speaker 2: Motor GP is. But did you notice the difference between
- 25:53Speaker 2: the two? And I guess there's an ancillary question to that.
- 25:56Speaker 2: There's a lot of talker. Jack Miller may be ending
- 25:58Speaker 2: up racing with you little bit more than he has
- 26:00Speaker 2: this year in the short term future. So if Jack
- 26:04Speaker 2: ends up in that superbike paddock, is that something that
- 26:06Speaker 2: you could see him enjoying, because he strikes me as
- 26:09Speaker 2: a guy who likes the racing more than the side
- 26:11Speaker 2: show a lot of the time. It might be right
- 26:13Speaker 2: up easally, Yeah, I mean the.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Actual technical side and the sporting side is exactly the same.
- 26:24Speaker 3: You know, inside the box. You know in the end
- 26:28Speaker 3: you're there to do a job. You know you're still
- 26:29Speaker 3: a professional rider and it's something you have to take serious.
- 26:32Speaker 3: I mean, if you don't the levels so high now
- 26:34Speaker 3: in superbikes, I mean the top ten are so fast now,
- 26:37Speaker 3: you know, just if you're not.
- 26:39Speaker 4: On top of your game, you're not taking it completely serious.
- 26:42Speaker 4: You know you're going to be nowhere.
- 26:43Speaker 3: So that from the sporting side of things, you have
- 26:46Speaker 3: to be completely on it all the time and you
- 26:48Speaker 3: have to be a professional rider and from Friday until
- 26:51Speaker 3: Sunday give it your all. Otherwise, like I said, you
- 26:54Speaker 3: can be nowhere. Let's see the media side and things
- 26:58Speaker 3: like that. Yeah, definitely more chill, but for sure we
- 27:01Speaker 3: still have some media obligations, which is all okay, and
- 27:04Speaker 3: I think it's all part of the job. I think
- 27:06Speaker 3: at this point in our careers, if we don't know
- 27:07Speaker 3: how to manage that, you know, we shouldn't be here.
- 27:10Speaker 4: So but yeah, I.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Think, yeah, I'm not sure what's true or not about that.
- 27:16Speaker 3: I haven't spoken to Jack, but yeah, I'm sure he'd
- 27:19Speaker 3: enjoyed the bike. To actually ride the bike, it's actually
- 27:22Speaker 3: quite fun.
- 27:24Speaker 4: The Perellis are.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Really forgiving, and the superbike moves around a lot more
- 27:28Speaker 3: and it's actually really enjoyable and race as well. I mean,
- 27:33Speaker 3: it's probably a bit easier to pass riders and have
- 27:37Speaker 3: some nice battles on tracks.
- 27:38Speaker 4: So as a.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Racer it's definitely it's definitely a fun time on track,
- 27:42Speaker 3: but yeah, we'll see. I mean I wish you know,
- 27:45Speaker 3: the best of luck to Jack and search them for
- 27:47Speaker 3: something for next year.
- 27:49Speaker 2: While we're on that, I mean the rider market stuff.
- 27:52Speaker 2: You would have been watching that from Afar this year.
- 27:54Speaker 2: It was completely bonkers for about three weeks there, Like
- 27:57Speaker 2: every time you look at your phones, I want to
- 27:59Speaker 2: change to you or something was going on. It was
- 28:01Speaker 2: completely mad, and obviously Jack got sort of caught out
- 28:04Speaker 2: in the shuffle with all of that, with all the
- 28:05Speaker 2: moving pieces. You've been in that KTM situation before, where
- 28:09Speaker 2: you know, things that you thought were going to happen
- 28:11Speaker 2: perhaps didn't. Do you perhaps sympathize a little bit with
- 28:13Speaker 2: Jack's situation because one minute he was on a factory KTM,
- 28:17Speaker 2: the next minute he was in line for a Tech
- 28:18Speaker 2: three bike, and now he's still looking for a job
- 28:20Speaker 2: two months later. I mean, you went through your own
- 28:23Speaker 2: issues with that side of things with KTM. Did you
- 28:25Speaker 2: sort of see any similarities there or feel any sympathy
- 28:27Speaker 2: for him?
- 28:28Speaker 3: I mean, after everything, after the years, you know, after let's.
- 28:32Speaker 4: See the trend of what happens in KTM. I mean,
- 28:34Speaker 4: that's you can't say it's surprising at all.
- 28:37Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean I think for him as well,
- 28:42Speaker 3: I think I wouldn't be completely surprised, you know, after
- 28:46Speaker 3: you know, seeing a trend over five years of everything
- 28:48Speaker 3: that's happened. So yeah, I mean, in the end, what
- 28:53Speaker 3: can I say. He was in a factory team, I
- 28:55Speaker 3: didn't he would make it that far. So he's done one.
- 28:58Speaker 4: Better than me or ready.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And and yeah, I mean he's had a great, great
- 29:03Speaker 3: run already in MotoGP He's been around for ten years
- 29:06Speaker 3: or something like nine years or something like that, so yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 3: he's had he's had a great run. He's done an amazing,
- 29:12Speaker 3: amazing career, had great results, and yeah, I think he
- 29:16Speaker 3: could be proud of it if it does come to
- 29:18Speaker 3: an end.
- 29:19Speaker 4: But I'm not sure. I don't know what's going to happen.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I'm not even in this paddock usually, so honestly, I
- 29:25Speaker 3: don't even look at the I don't even look at
- 29:27Speaker 3: the news anymore. Just I'm off riding motorbikes and duro
- 29:30Speaker 3: or trials or whatever any we care.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Well, let's bring it back to you. Then let's go
- 29:36Speaker 1: back to Wilson. Wike's currently sitting P seven in at
- 29:39Speaker 1: the championship. How do you feel the championship has been
- 29:42Speaker 1: so far.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think having a good having a good year.
- 29:47Speaker 3: We're kind of fighting for that top five. We got
- 29:50Speaker 3: Locker just in that top five. Unfortunately, I had a
- 29:53Speaker 3: lot of bad luck in Australia in the first race,
- 29:56Speaker 3: and yeah, we've only scored a small handful points unfortunately,
- 30:01Speaker 3: and I think we had the potential to, you know,
- 30:03Speaker 3: probably fight for the podium. So yeah, it was unfortunate
- 30:06Speaker 3: there that we had a bit of a problem in
- 30:09Speaker 3: Mommelo in the first race as well, and another bunch
- 30:11Speaker 3: of points.
- 30:12Speaker 4: But yeah, we've been hanging in there.
- 30:14Speaker 3: We've been you know, climbing back and I think we've
- 30:17Speaker 3: started the championship in tween twelve thirteen something like that,
- 30:20Speaker 3: so yeah.
- 30:21Speaker 4: We've been clawing back, and.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Yeah, we managed to cloak the gap again in Moss
- 30:26Speaker 3: and basically our our eyes are said on that on
- 30:29Speaker 3: that top five position in the championship. It's not going
- 30:33Speaker 3: to be easy for sure, but you know, hopefully we
- 30:35Speaker 3: could keep it consistent and put in a good end
- 30:37Speaker 3: of the year.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Man, if only you could just go and go the
- 30:41Speaker 2: hard reset button on Australia, I mean, you take that
- 30:43Speaker 2: one out of the equation to the rest of it's
- 30:44Speaker 2: been pretty much where you would want to be. I
- 30:46Speaker 2: would say, but while we're talking about your current day
- 30:50Speaker 2: job as opposed to your deputizing day job this weekend,
- 30:54Speaker 2: I can't not ask you the top rack question because
- 30:57Speaker 2: we've seen what he's doing at the moment. He's on
- 30:59Speaker 2: a massive and you know, the marshal of the Margins
- 31:02Speaker 2: and Victory have been absolutely crazy. There's been so much
- 31:04Speaker 2: discussion on you know, would he go to BOT to GP,
- 31:07Speaker 2: who would he go with? How well would he go there?
- 31:09Speaker 2: You've raced against the guy now for a couple of years,
- 31:11Speaker 2: and you also know what about a GP writer looks
- 31:13Speaker 2: like because you were one and you are racing with
- 31:15Speaker 2: them at the moment. Is he of a quality that
- 31:17Speaker 2: he could do well in that series? And do you
- 31:20Speaker 2: think it's going to happen or is it going to
- 31:22Speaker 2: be something else that needs to happen to get him
- 31:24Speaker 2: to go over because the talent's pretty undeniable.
- 31:27Speaker 4: From where I was hitting, Yeah, I think for next year.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I don't think so, because I think maybe I don't
- 31:34Speaker 3: even know, but I've been told that BM came out
- 31:36Speaker 3: and said no, he's going to stay with this one morning.
- 31:38Speaker 3: I think even himself he said that, So I don't know,
- 31:42Speaker 3: I don't Yeah, I don't know.
- 31:44Speaker 4: I've been told that son. Don't take that my word
- 31:46Speaker 4: on it as a writer. As his style right now,
- 31:55Speaker 4: that style.
- 31:55Speaker 3: In superbikes from R Mynergip wouldn't work, let's say. But
- 32:03Speaker 3: I mean, obviously, i mean, look at the guy's talent.
- 32:05Speaker 3: He's he's very talented, and I'm sure he can adapt
- 32:07Speaker 3: and he'll be a fast rider on a GP bike
- 32:11Speaker 3: I think, yeah, for sure. So maybe not gonna be overnight,
- 32:13Speaker 3: but a bit of bit of testing and and a
- 32:16Speaker 3: bit of experience and adaptation, I'm sure he could go
- 32:19Speaker 3: pretty quick. Yeah, I mean, you know, look what he's
- 32:23Speaker 3: doing on a superbike.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Guys obviously no how to ride a motorcycle.
- 32:26Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, at the moment he's working with
- 32:29Speaker 3: the BMW, it's it's working.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Well, he's got the horsepower now that we wanted, always wanted,
- 32:34Speaker 4: so yeah, it's it's definitely working.
- 32:38Speaker 3: So at the moment, I'm just I'm actually beating his
- 32:43Speaker 3: hisat times and things.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Like that that he was sitting on the YMA, So
- 32:46Speaker 4: I'm actually gotting faster than that. So I'm still here.
- 32:51Speaker 4: I'm still here.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Unfortunately, everyone in superbikes has made a step and
- 32:56Speaker 3: it doesn't seem like that anymore, you know, like we're
- 32:59Speaker 3: actually that fast, you know, because you know, obviously the
- 33:02Speaker 3: other manufacturers have made a big step this year and
- 33:05Speaker 3: and they're on it. So yeah, at the moment, we're
- 33:10Speaker 3: in our kind of own little race. But but yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 3: we're trying to We're trying to do our best.
- 33:15Speaker 4: At what we've got.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Remie, I wanted to ask you, with these couple of
- 33:20Speaker 1: filling rides that you've done with Yamaha Emoto GP, do
- 33:23Speaker 1: you think it is kind of an audition process for
- 33:26Speaker 1: you to come back or could we possibly see you
- 33:29Speaker 1: back Emoto GP as a full time rider in the future.
- 33:34Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I don't know.
- 33:35Speaker 3: I haven't known any nothing's been tend to me, so
- 33:40Speaker 3: you know, if you even know more, not more than me,
- 33:42Speaker 3: But at the moment of the sist I think a
- 33:45Speaker 3: filling ride to get a bit more data and and
- 33:48Speaker 3: a bit more yeah, and maybe different comment from a
- 33:51Speaker 3: different rider on the bike, to to try and move
- 33:53Speaker 3: forward with maybe the bike in the project, which is
- 33:56Speaker 3: you know, ultimately I think what what Yah Mahamed right now,
- 33:58Speaker 3: and yeah, I mean, you never know, in the future
- 34:01Speaker 3: that could be opportunities. And I'm still young, you know,
- 34:05Speaker 3: still twenty six, and yeah I'm still fast. It looks
- 34:09Speaker 3: like so yeah.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Hopefully, yeah, you never know.
- 34:13Speaker 3: In the future, we'll see, but at the moment, there's nothing,
- 34:17Speaker 3: nothing on the table.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, we're so excited to have you back in
- 34:22Speaker 1: the Paddock on the grid again this weekend. It's so
- 34:25Speaker 1: cool for us Aussies having two Aussies that we can support.
- 34:29Speaker 1: We know all of Australia is behind you. Best of
- 34:32Speaker 1: luck this weekend. We can't wait to see that unveiling
- 34:35Speaker 1: of your retrolivery and also see you out on track.
- 34:38Speaker 4: Yeah, me too, also, I can't wait. Thanks guys, appreciate it.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Matt. What did you take from that chat with Remy?
- 34:49Speaker 2: I don't know about you, Ranta, but it said to
- 34:51Speaker 2: me like Remy's a guy who isn't necessarily mentally finished
- 34:55Speaker 2: with Bono GP as he said, you know, I'm twenty six,
- 34:58Speaker 2: I'm still fast, and that was quite interesting. So obviously
- 35:03Speaker 2: there's still a bit of a flickering flame for him there.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I mean, he was he left MotoGP pretty bitter at
- 35:09Speaker 2: the end. Of twenty two. Things certainly didn't go the
- 35:12Speaker 2: way he wants them to after the highs of winning
- 35:14Speaker 2: that Motor two title in twenty one and the whole
- 35:17Speaker 2: Motor GP experience and the experience with KTM certainly wasn't
- 35:20Speaker 2: what he wanted. And I did about you, but I
- 35:22Speaker 2: thought that was kind of interesting when we put it
- 35:25Speaker 2: to him about Jack Miller's situation with KTM. Obviously Jack
- 35:28Speaker 2: had said, you know, don't take any calls, don't sign anything.
- 35:30Speaker 2: We've still got something for you, and then nothing happened.
- 35:33Speaker 2: And the smile on Rebby's face and the comments that
- 35:36Speaker 2: he made about that, it's like, yeah, this feels like
- 35:38Speaker 2: a story I've read before. I don't know about you,
- 35:39Speaker 2: but that's the way I saw it.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it was really interesting, and it's typical Rammy.
- 35:45Speaker 1: He's cool as a cucumber, right, and it seems like
- 35:48Speaker 1: he's back to himself. And when we did see him
- 35:50Speaker 1: in that final year on the KTM, you could just
- 35:53Speaker 1: see the frustration I'm going to call it frustration in
- 35:56Speaker 1: his face. And now it seems like he's really enjoying
- 35:59Speaker 1: Welsis and the relaxed part of the paddock and the calendar,
- 36:04Speaker 1: but he's enjoying these film rides with Yamaha as.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Well massively, so I think, you know, he's really landed
- 36:10Speaker 2: in a good place. He's probably rediscovered his love for
- 36:13Speaker 2: everything around racing, not just the racing again. But you
- 36:16Speaker 2: know what I found really interesting was when we were
- 36:18Speaker 2: talking about how the game has changed since twenty twenty two,
- 36:21Speaker 2: and he just said, there's so many fast guys. And
- 36:24Speaker 2: I think this every week when you look at Motor GP,
- 36:27Speaker 2: if you're six and a half tenths off the pace,
- 36:28Speaker 2: you're probably on the back row. I mean, the gap
- 36:30Speaker 2: between first and last now and Motor GP is completely crazy.
- 36:34Speaker 2: And that's why we're having this fantastic season because you've
- 36:37Speaker 2: got really really high level riders on a field that's
- 36:40Speaker 2: really concerting it over the years, and I guess that's
- 36:42Speaker 2: why we love it exactly.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Like talking about the current grid, you know, the Honda
- 36:47Speaker 1: and the Yamahas, they are doing faster lap times this
- 36:50Speaker 1: year than they are last year and they're still at
- 36:52Speaker 1: the back. So that just shows you how much the Ducantes,
- 36:55Speaker 1: if really the Ketms have also advanced compared to last season.
- 37:00Speaker 1: You said, this year is so exciting in Moto GP
- 37:03Speaker 1: and we just can't wait to get back on track
- 37:05Speaker 1: this weekend at Silverston for the British Grand Prix. But
- 37:09Speaker 1: I think that pretty much wraps up our chat about
- 37:13Speaker 1: Moto GP pit talk for this episode. We will be
- 37:16Speaker 1: back after the British Grand Prix to talk and hopefully
- 37:19Speaker 1: see if any of our predictions came true about maybe
- 37:22Speaker 1: Mark marc Has taking his victory or Peco taking his
- 37:25Speaker 1: fifth win in a row. But don't forget, guys, that
- 37:28Speaker 1: you can catch all the action live and add break
- 37:31Speaker 1: free on Fox Sports and KO Plus. Keep up to
- 37:34Speaker 1: date with all the latest MotoGP news on our socials

- 37:45Speaker 1: myself Nita Vermulan, we will be back soon with more
