  huddle up and hear today's play from

  Luke 24. He was asked about Jesus of
• 0:14
  Nazareth. And they replied, "He was a
• 0:17
  prophet, powerful in word and deed
• 0:19
  before God and all the people. But we
• 0:21
  had hoped that he was the one who was
• 0:23
  going to redeem Israel. What is more,
• 0:26
  it's the third day since all this took
• 0:28
  place." He said to them, "How foolish
• 0:30
  you are, and how slow to believe all
• 0:32
  that the prophets had spoken. Did not
• 0:35
  the Messiah have to suffer these things
• 0:37
  and then enter his glory?" And beginning
• 0:39
  with Moses and all the prophets, he
• 0:41
  explained to them what was said in all
• 0:43
  the scriptures concerning himself. He
• 0:46
  said to them, "This is what I told you
• 0:48
  while I was still with you. Everything
• 0:50
  must be fulfilled that is written about
• 0:51
  me in the law of Moses and the prophets
• 0:54
  and the Psalms." Then he opened their
• 0:56
  minds so they could understand the
• 0:57
  scriptures. Man, let's talk about
• 0:59
  clarity. The kind that changes a man's
• 1:02
  life. In Luke 24, the disciples had
• 1:05
  walked with Jesus for three years.
• 1:07
  They'd seen his miracles, heard his
• 1:09
  teachings, and watched prophecy unfold
• 1:12
  right before their eyes. Yet, when he
• 1:14
  was crucified, they were confused. They
• 1:16
  admired him as a prophet. They hoped he
• 1:19
  was the Messiah, but they didn't
• 1:20
  understand God's plan. They didn't see
• 1:22
  how he fulfilled the scriptures. Sound
• 1:25
  familiar? We do the same thing. We skim
• 1:28
  the Bible. We think we understand God.
• 1:30
  We filter his word through our own
• 1:32
  expectations. We want the glory without
• 1:34
  the cross, the blessing without
• 1:36
  obedience, and the victory without
• 1:38
  surrender. Then comes the breakthrough.
• 1:41
  Jesus rises. He opens their minds. He
• 1:44
  shows them how every word of Moses, the
• 1:46
  prophets, and the psalms pointed to him.
• 1:49
  Only then do they see clearly, and only
• 1:51
  then can they respond in faith and live
• 1:54
  for him fully. This is the challenge for
• 1:56
  us today. Understanding God's word isn't
• 1:59
  automatic. It requires discipline. It
• 2:02
  requires humility. It requires
• 2:03
  dependence upon the Holy Spirit. And it
• 2:06
  requires a community of believers to see
• 2:08
  and help us so that we don't miss
• 2:11
  everything on our own. So here's your
• 2:13
  play for today. Open your Bible. Ask the
• 2:16
  spirit to open your mind. Let Jesus
• 2:18
  correct your assumptions. Take one truth
• 2:20
  he shows you and live it out in your
• 2:23
  home, your workplace, and your
• 2:25
  friendships. Don't wait till tomorrow.

  Start now. Your purpose, your provision,
• 2:30
  your priorities depend on seeing Christ
• 2:33
  clearly and obeying what he reveals.
• 2:36
  Don't just admire him. Don't just hope
• 2:38
  in him. Know him. Walk with him. Live
• 2:41
  out his word with courage and obedience.
• 2:44

  scriptures, see Christ, and act. run
