Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show
- 0:13Speaker 1: where a conservation always wins. And we've been sitting in
- 0:17Speaker 1: the room for a minute. Some beers have been opened
- 0:20Speaker 1: and we're ready to play. So I'm your host, Spencer Newhart,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and today we're joined by Giannis Putellis, Mark Kenyon, Tony Peterson,
- 0:26Speaker 1: Tyler Jones, Clay Newcombe, Jordan's Bud, and Seth Morris. Now, Jordan,
- 0:30Speaker 1: this is your first time playing Meat Eater Trivia. How
- 0:33Speaker 1: do you feel about your chances?
- 0:35Speaker 2: A little worried about looking like a dumbass?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Okay, but you spend some time between Idaho and Nebraska, right,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I feel like that gives you kind of an advantage,
- 0:46Speaker 1: like gallivanting around the country that should maybe help you
- 0:50Speaker 1: out right well traveled. Yeah, that's part of the game.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We often see in this room that questions from the
- 0:57Speaker 1: South folks don't do well with. This is a good
- 0:59Speaker 1: thing that we have Clay and Tyler here to give
- 1:01Speaker 1: us some Southern representation. And Danielle and Danielle. Danielle's I
- 1:07Speaker 1: just I too often think of you as a North Dakotin.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I know that's not fair.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that is Danielle that's the club, right.
- 1:17Speaker 4: We really love North Dakota, and I talk about it
- 1:19Speaker 4: like I still live there, but.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I know honorary North Dakotin. Now, this is a ten
- 1:22Speaker 1: round quiz show with questions from Meat Eater's four verticals,
- 1:25Speaker 1: which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking, and there is
- 1:28Speaker 1: a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to
- 1:31Speaker 1: the conservation organization of the winners choosing, and each week
- 1:34Speaker 1: here on Trivia, we reveal a new stat In a
- 1:37Speaker 1: previous game, we learned that the average winning score is
- 1:40Speaker 1: seven point two points. But what does it take to
- 1:44Speaker 1: get silver bronze. Well, the average score for sixth place
- 1:48Speaker 1: is three point one points. For fifth place, it's three
- 1:52Speaker 1: point eight, for fourth, it's four point nine, for third
- 1:55Speaker 1: it's five point seven, and for second it's six point six.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So if you want a spot on the Imaginary Meat
- 2:01Speaker 1: Eater Trivia podium, you need to score at least five
- 2:04Speaker 1: point seven points. Okay, Clay, can you get there this time?
- 2:08Speaker 2: You think, yeah, I'll get there.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I don't think you were on the podium last game, though.
- 2:11Speaker 2: But I had five, so I wouldn't right around. I'll
- 2:17Speaker 2: tell you what I do feel good about this round?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Is that Brody Henderson's not sitting to my left and we.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Had to twist his arm for him to not play.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We just recorded an episode right before this. Brody was
- 2:27Speaker 1: not supposed to be on, and he did not like
- 2:29Speaker 1: to learn that he wasn't invited to this one. He
- 2:31Speaker 1: even said he would stand in the room if there
- 2:33Speaker 1: weren't enough seats or microphones for.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Wow, was he uninvited after he won the first one?
- 2:38Speaker 5: Or you only had him scheduled for.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Just wasn't on the invite because it's a special occasion.
- 2:42Speaker 1: We have all the out of town folks here and
- 2:43Speaker 1: wanted to use them for the games of trivia. That's
- 2:46Speaker 1: why you're not here.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Well, it's because we have a special relationship. That's right.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Ye, we're in a club.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Apparently invited to.
- 2:58Speaker 5: I just looked up as an associate or organization dedicated
- 3:01Speaker 5: to a particular interest or activity. I don't think you
- 3:05Speaker 5: should be offended.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Okay, I'm not offended.
- 3:07Speaker 5: You said you were.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I mean it was hyperbolic offense.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Okay, now here is zero percenter question of the week.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We're just gonna move on this test. How much our
- 3:17Speaker 1: players have retained from a previous game. This was from
- 3:21Speaker 1: episode three sixteen. The topic of is fishing, and nobody
- 3:24Speaker 1: got this question right. What southern state has the most
- 3:28Speaker 1: species of fish? You don't have to write down answering,
- 3:31Speaker 1: just shout it out if you think you know it. Wait,
- 3:33Speaker 1: this isn't This is not part of the game. This
- 3:35Speaker 1: is from a previous game. This is a question nobody
- 3:38Speaker 1: got right when we played that time. So now I'm
- 3:40Speaker 1: gonna test to see if anybody in freshwater just species
- 3:44Speaker 1: of fish, what southern state has the most speed Florida.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Florida is incorrect, George. Everybody in the room said Florida.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Georgia's incorrect as well.
- 3:55Speaker 5: Alabama is right.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:57Speaker 1: The incorrect answers given were Florida and Louisiana. Alabama is
- 4:01Speaker 1: home to four hundred and fifty species of fish. Some
- 4:04Speaker 1: biologists say that one Alabama river alone has more species
- 4:08Speaker 1: of fish than the entire state of California.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Now does this does this only count native species?
- 4:15Speaker 1: No, just species that live there. So I think it
- 4:16Speaker 1: was three hundred and fifty were fresh water and one
- 4:19Speaker 1: hundred were marine species for Alabama.
- 4:23Speaker 2: How many native verse non native?
- 4:25Speaker 6: You know?
- 4:25Speaker 3: I remember that Lord's got a lot of non natives
- 4:27Speaker 3: in there.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Listen, man, you can take it out, but I think
- 4:29Speaker 1: it was Encyclopedia Britannica that had this stat.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Do you guys remember when you could get the Encyclopedia
- 4:35Speaker 3: on cd ram?
- 4:37Speaker 1: Does anybody remember that and take it? You had that?
- 4:40Speaker 5: I did. I would think that a fella that had
- 4:46Speaker 5: that on cd RAM you'd fare better in trivia. Hey today, Mark,
- 4:52Speaker 5: I feel like you still have that. It's called Google.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yah. They called Mark cd Rahm in high school.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Is there that we have some housekeeping to get to?
- 5:07Speaker 1: In a previous game, I asked chat gpt to write
- 5:10Speaker 1: me some trivia questions about hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
- 5:14Speaker 1: and as we learned, it failed that task miserably. But
- 5:17Speaker 1: listener Kyle Abbott emailed me saying that although chat gpt
- 5:21Speaker 1: can host trivia, it might be able to play. So
- 5:24Speaker 1: he transcribed thirteen games and one hundred and thirty four
- 5:27Speaker 1: questions and asked chat gpt to answer them. Here's how
- 5:31Speaker 1: it did. Chat gpt would have won twelve out of
- 5:34Speaker 1: thirteen games. It had an unprecedented eighty three percent batting
- 5:39Speaker 1: average and actually had two perfect games, But it was flawed.
- 5:44Speaker 1: When it came to hunting, chat GPT only got fifty
- 5:46Speaker 1: nine percent of hunting questions right, which is worse than
- 5:49Speaker 1: players like Brody, Tony, Jannis, and Rick. So, although robots
- 5:54Speaker 1: can own them when it comes to fishing, conservation and cooking,
- 5:58Speaker 1: we've learned that artificial intelligence can't replace a human's knowledge
- 6:02Speaker 1: of acquiring meat.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Wow, that's that's big.
- 6:06Speaker 3: What that speaks to is that people who write about
- 6:09Speaker 3: hunting on the Internet aren't doing a very good job
- 6:11Speaker 3: of it. Then, because chat gpt just scans everything on
- 6:14Speaker 3: the Internet, that is probably not something you should say.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Dot com you should go there. You learn everything you
- 6:22Speaker 1: need to know.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Did you did you hear us on the bear grease render?
- 6:26Speaker 2: One time? We talked about the the article that was
- 6:29Speaker 2: written where it was calling me mud Nukem and my
- 6:33Speaker 2: wife Foggy Nukem. What. Yeah, there was there was an
- 6:36Speaker 2: article written by some bot that was sent to us
- 6:40Speaker 2: and it was on the Internet and it mentioned me
- 6:43Speaker 2: and my wife's name like three different times, Clay and
- 6:46Speaker 2: Misty Nukem. The first time it said Clay and Misty,
- 6:49Speaker 2: the second time it said mud and Foggy, the third
- 6:52Speaker 2: time it said dirt and rainy.
- 6:59Speaker 7: Man.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it thought that these were like descriptive words that
- 7:03Speaker 2: needn't be changed, so missed and I started going by
- 7:07Speaker 2: mud and foggy.
- 7:08Speaker 1: That's get dirt newcomb. I hope you do okay this round.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Now.
- 7:12Speaker 1: The Shelby index for today's game is a four, so
- 7:15Speaker 1: our winner should get eight correct answers. And with that
- 7:18Speaker 1: we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I need to know what I stand to win everything?
- 7:27Speaker 2: How's that?
- 7:28Speaker 1: Just tend to win everything?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Gamon suckers.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Question one. The topic is cooking, and as always, this
- 7:43Speaker 1: will be multiple choice. Which of these cuts of elk
- 7:47Speaker 1: meat costs the most per pound from elkusa dot com?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Is it bone in, ribbi, tenderloin, flank steak, or New
- 7:57Speaker 1: York Strip? Again, which of these cuts of elk meat
- 8:02Speaker 1: cost the most per pound from elkusa dot com. Your
- 8:07Speaker 1: four choices are bone in, ribbi, tenderloin, flank steak, or
- 8:12Speaker 1: New York Strip. Confident answer from Tony, Tony, you're chewing
- 8:16Speaker 1: on some elk meat this year. You're gonna get this right,
- 8:19Speaker 1: I hope so, Buddy Danielle also with a very quick answer,
- 8:22Speaker 1: do you have the right answer.
- 8:23Speaker 4: If I'm wrong, it will be a testament to.
- 8:27Speaker 1: How much wild game you'd get without buying it right.
- 8:30Speaker 4: No, it'll it'll be the fact that this is a
- 8:33Speaker 4: product being selled from a farm elk, and I'll be
- 8:36Speaker 4: very upset about it.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer?
- 8:39Speaker 5: Give me, Give me the chance for choice.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Our bone in Ribbi, tenderloin, flank steak or New York strip.
- 8:47Speaker 2: The back of my board, says Seth catches small fish.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Is true to watch the mont? Yeah?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Need you have an answer? Yes, go ahead and
- 9:01Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Danielle saying tenderloin, Jordan saying
- 9:07Speaker 1: bone in Ribi, Tony saying tenderloin, Tyler sag New York strip,
- 9:12Speaker 1: Giannis sang tend Mark saying tenderloin, Klay saying bone in Ribbi,
- 9:18Speaker 1: Seth saying tenderloin. The correct answer is tenderloin did pretty well.
- 9:25Speaker 1: The tenderloin costs fifty nine dollars and ninety five cents
- 9:29Speaker 1: per pound. That's followed by the New York strip and
- 9:32Speaker 1: bone in Ribbi at thirty two dollars and ninety five
- 9:35Speaker 1: cents per pound, and flank steak at twenty four dollars
- 9:38Speaker 1: and fifteen cents per pound to purchase an entire elk's
- 9:41Speaker 1: worth of meat, which is one hundred and seventy two pounds,
- 9:44Speaker 1: it costs just over three thousand dollars. Wow, makes you
- 9:48Speaker 1: appreciate your wild game a little more, you know.
- 9:50Speaker 5: It's interesting back in the day when I used to
- 9:52Speaker 5: do some bartering with my wild game, before I knew
- 9:55Speaker 5: it was illegal to do such things.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Wouldn't do it again, would never, yep.
- 9:59Speaker 5: But I to barter for oil changes, ski tunes and
- 10:03Speaker 5: ski lift tickets were a popular thing because very expensive
- 10:07Speaker 5: to ski at the skiers where I used to live
- 10:09Speaker 5: at roughly back then it was like one hundred and
- 10:11Speaker 5: twenty five hundred and fifty a day. But I used
- 10:13Speaker 5: to say when people were in a trade, I'd say,
- 10:15Speaker 5: look my elk, I think it's worth about two thousand dollars. Really,
- 10:19Speaker 5: and yeah, that was the number I gave. You were close, Yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 5: but that was also almost twenty years ago, so.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Well passed the statutes of I.
- 10:28Speaker 5: First that all cost about three thousand dollars.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there's a lot of elk that get
- 10:32Speaker 1: killed where folks pay even more than that.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Question two, the topic is conservation. This next great question
- 10:38Speaker 1: comes to is via Colin Drovedal. If you have a
- 10:41Speaker 1: question you think is right for media to trivia, you
- 10:43Speaker 1: can send it to Trivia at the mediator dot com.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Name either the state with the most National wildlife refuges
- 10:50Speaker 1: or most acres of National wildlife refuges. Name either the
- 10:57Speaker 1: state with the most national wild old life refuges or
- 11:01Speaker 1: the state with the most acres of national wildlife refuges.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Danielle with a quick answer. The rest of the room
- 11:10Speaker 1: doesn't look as confident you got this one, Seth no Clay,
- 11:22Speaker 1: what do you think is the closest national wildlife refuge
- 11:24Speaker 1: to you? Are there any in Arkansas?
- 11:26Speaker 3: By you?
- 11:26Speaker 2: I'm changing my answer.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sorry. Does everybody else having.
- 11:32Speaker 2: If the answer was what I was good about to
- 11:34Speaker 2: answer them, it wouldn't have been that one.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Answer real health?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer?
- 11:40Speaker 2: The answer to your question is the White River National
- 11:44Speaker 2: Wilife Refuge. Huh, Arkansas is pretty big.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Maybe it's the biggest. Maybe it has all the acres.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I thought, Tyler. How are we doing
- 11:54Speaker 2: all this? I'm a poker. I'm like looking at Yannie's
- 11:57Speaker 2: eyes and thinking about my answer and being like, I
- 12:00Speaker 2: feel like Mark, look at Mark.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Mark, I've got a couple ideas on too.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I got to the state with the most refuges, were
- 12:09Speaker 1: the most acres of refuges. It's everybody ready, Tyler, yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 1: I think so go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 12:18Speaker 1: have Danielle saying Minnesota, saying Montana, Tony saying Alaska, Tyler
- 12:25Speaker 1: saying Nebraska, Joannis saying California, Mark saying California, Clay saying Florida,
- 12:31Speaker 1: Seth saying Montana. The two states are Alaska with the
- 12:37Speaker 1: most acres and North Dakota with the most refuges. Wow,
- 12:41Speaker 1: now Danielle is the honorary North Dakota and Florida. First,
- 12:44Speaker 1: how did we arrive in Minnesota?
- 12:46Speaker 4: For the answer of a combination of like water a
- 12:52Speaker 4: lot of refuges in the waterfowl because I know they
- 12:56Speaker 4: are in the northeast part of North Dakota, but I
- 12:59Speaker 4: thought there were more in Minnesota, and then I was
- 13:02Speaker 4: also thinking about the waters.
- 13:05Speaker 1: North Dakota has the most National Wildlife refuges at sixty four,
- 13:10Speaker 1: which is nearly double the number of second place California.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Alaska has the most acres and nearly seventy seven million.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Despite all those refuges, North Dakota has less than half
- 13:21Speaker 1: a percent of the amount of refuge land that Alaska does.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Hey, did you know that Hult Collier has his own
- 13:29Speaker 2: National Wildlife Refuge I did.
- 13:31Speaker 1: After seeing your post on Instagram.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We did a whole podcast on Hult Callier.
- 13:35Speaker 1: What's that podcast called, Clay.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Well, it's the Barker's Podcast. But it was a series
- 13:40Speaker 2: we did on Hult Coller which is an incredible, incredible story.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Question three, the topic is hunting. What movie was a
- 13:47Speaker 1: Missouri man sentenced to watch after getting busted for poaching
- 13:52Speaker 1: hundreds of deer in twenty eighteen? What movie was a
- 13:59Speaker 1: Missouri man sentenced to watch after getting busted for poaching
- 14:04Speaker 1: hundreds of deer in twenty eighteen? Quick answer from Tony
- 14:07Speaker 1: and Danielle Clay looks perplexed. Clay, what's the last movie
- 14:11Speaker 1: you watched?
- 14:12Speaker 2: The Outlaw of Josie Wells. I know that one. I
- 14:14Speaker 2: watch about two movies a year.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Do you think the poetry would be sentenced to watch
- 14:18Speaker 1: that one?
- 14:19Speaker 2: It would have been a good one because the Outlaw.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You know it kind of gets ostracized by the world
- 14:28Speaker 2: and he goes to live with the comanches, you know,
- 14:32Speaker 2: find some find a woman. I mean, there's a lot
- 14:35Speaker 2: of good stuff going on there.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Again. What movie was a Missouri man sentenced to watch
- 14:40Speaker 1: after getting busted for poaching hundreds of deer in twenty eighteen? Tyler,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you have an answer?
- 14:49Speaker 5: I got one.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yanni, you have an answer, Yes, sir, go ahead and
- 14:52Speaker 1: reveal your answers. Oh yeah, Danielle saying bamby, Jordan's saying bamby,
- 14:58Speaker 1: Tony saying bamby, Tyler A saying Bambi, Yanna saying Bambi.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Mark saying The Moonlight. I know that's your favorite movie
- 15:07Speaker 1: you watch every year before Deer Opener, Clay saying The Outlaw,
- 15:11Speaker 1: Jo C. Wales Seth saying The Deer Hunter. The room
- 15:14Speaker 1: did well. The correct answer is Bambi.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Wow.
- 15:18Speaker 1: A prosecutor said that David Barry Junior bragged of friends
- 15:22Speaker 1: that he had poached twelve hundred deer in Missouri. He
- 15:26Speaker 1: was sentenced to spend a year in prison and forced
- 15:28Speaker 1: to watch Bambi once per month during that time. Lawyers
- 15:32Speaker 1: from both sides called the punishment bizarre, saying they'd never
- 15:35Speaker 1: seen anything quite like it.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Mark, was your favorite? What's your favorite line in Escana
- 15:42Speaker 5: in the Moonlight.
- 15:43Speaker 3: She had a tongue of a trout And then he says,
- 15:47Speaker 3: your mother had the tongue of a trout, and he
- 15:49Speaker 3: watched that movie once a year?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Right, Mark? Or is it more than that? Even?
- 15:52Speaker 3: No, once a year? The first half of it usually
- 15:54Speaker 3: that it gets extra weird.
- 15:56Speaker 5: The second half of the movie.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Does it goes from it goes from weirdly really weird.
- 16:02Speaker 1: But a question for the topic is woodsmanship. This next
- 16:05Speaker 1: great question comes to is via our very own Rick Hutton.
- 16:08Speaker 1: If you want to if you have a question you
- 16:10Speaker 1: think is right for med Eater trivia, you can send
- 16:12Speaker 1: it to trivia at the mediatter dot com.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Which Zipper does. FHF. Gear used to quick.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Question Spencer one of my questions.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yet I don't think so. If I did, though, you
- 16:23Speaker 1: wouldn't be here to hear it yet.
- 16:25Speaker 5: I know, okay, I'm not here a lot, and I'm
- 16:28Speaker 5: asking if you've used.
- 16:29Speaker 1: The hard thing, Yannie, is that I organize my questions
- 16:32Speaker 1: in my trivia inbox and you text them to me.
- 16:35Speaker 1: So they tend to get lost, So I'd ask you
- 16:37Speaker 1: from now on, Yannie, when you have a great question.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I know it's a little more inconvenient, but send it
- 16:41Speaker 1: to Trivia at the medieater dot com, just like Rick
- 16:44Speaker 1: and everybody else.
- 16:45Speaker 5: So no problem. I didn't know that that was what
- 16:49Speaker 5: you wanted.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm not. I don't like you any less,
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yannie for doing that, I very much appreciate your help.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Clay had the same question the other night at Steve's.
- 16:56Speaker 1: He says, Spencer, have you used my question yet? We
- 16:58Speaker 1: went back in his text he send it to me
- 17:00Speaker 1: in August of twenty twenty two. I have not used
- 17:03Speaker 1: the question yet, but Clay, you can send it to
- 17:05Speaker 1: Trivia at the meat eater dot com.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Pure.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I just kind of thought we were closer than that
- 17:11Speaker 2: a text message.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It's hard to organize, okay. Osha uses this term to
- 17:16Speaker 1: describe large broken tree limbs that hang in limbo and
- 17:20Speaker 1: could easily fall on people below. Ohsha uses this term
- 17:27Speaker 1: to describe large broken tree limbs that hang in limbo
- 17:31Speaker 1: and could easily fall on people below. I'll have you know.
- 17:35Speaker 1: When Rick submitted this question, he sent it to Trivia
- 17:38Speaker 1: at the medeater dot com. Which was very helpful.
- 17:41Speaker 5: That's enough.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I had a great question texted to him.
- 17:47Speaker 5: I can't wait to hear it.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Quickly answer this side of the room, Tony Jordan, Danielle,
- 17:53Speaker 1: do you have this one right? You think?
- 17:55Speaker 2: I don't know. I've heard it.
- 17:56Speaker 8: I've heard what I think it's called, but I'm not
- 17:58Speaker 8: sure if that's just a it's writer.
- 18:00Speaker 1: That's the appropriate amount of table talk, Tony, well done,
- 18:02Speaker 1: daniel I got this one.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:05Speaker 4: I'd say the same thing.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Do we have any arborius in the room. Brick and
- 18:09Speaker 5: I actually learned this together in college.
- 18:11Speaker 1: You got this one?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I don't know.
- 18:15Speaker 3: If I do complicates it? That does make a tricky It's.
- 18:19Speaker 9: Like official, I don't spend much time studying ocean.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Mmm, how we doing that? End of the table.
- 18:30Speaker 5: I have an answer. I show it to you if
- 18:33Speaker 5: you tell.
- 18:33Speaker 2: If I have to, you know, I've got I've make
- 18:36Speaker 2: a couple of I had a video like band on
- 18:40Speaker 2: TikTok and I was cutting a tree down. You do
- 18:44Speaker 2: a lot of dangerous stuff in social media club using
- 18:46Speaker 2: a saddle tree saddle like ID climbed up like ten
- 18:50Speaker 2: foot up and used my tree saddle and was using
- 18:52Speaker 2: the chainsaw.
- 18:53Speaker 1: What would OSHA think of that?
- 18:56Speaker 2: I thought I was really safe. I did it, did so,
- 19:00Speaker 2: but TikTok didn't like it.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer?
- 19:03Speaker 2: We were in chaps No, not safe.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Danielle saying
- 19:10Speaker 1: widow maker, Jordan's saying widow maker, Tony sang widow maker,
- 19:14Speaker 1: Tyler Andiannis and Mark and everybody saying widow maker. They
- 19:19Speaker 1: got it right. The correct answer is widow maker. Widow
- 19:22Speaker 1: Makers are responsible for eleven percent of fatal chainsaw accidents
- 19:27Speaker 1: in the United States. OSHA recommends knocking them down or
- 19:30Speaker 1: pulling them down before doing any chainsaw work on a tree.
- 19:34Speaker 1: These hazards also kill unsuspecting hunters, hikers, and campers each year.
- 19:40Speaker 1: That is an official OSHA term. If you look in
- 19:42Speaker 1: their book of hazards, they call it a widow maker.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I've also seen it called a fool's killer, though, but
- 19:48Speaker 1: that's not what OSHA says.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Good question Rick.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Question five. The topic is fishing. What Lures infomercial that
- 19:58Speaker 1: aired in the late nineties and early two thousands claimed
- 20:01Speaker 1: it's erratic action triggered a fish's genetic response to bite.
- 20:08Speaker 1: What lures infomercial? There's only one that aired in the
- 20:12Speaker 1: late nineties and early two thousands claimed it's erratic action
- 20:17Speaker 1: triggered a fish's genetic response to bite. That's a direct
- 20:21Speaker 1: quote from the commercial. Is it triggered the fish's genetic
- 20:24Speaker 1: response to bite the confident room? Yanni?
- 20:29Speaker 5: Really, I don't.
- 20:32Speaker 1: We have a lot of folks nodding, nodding their heads
- 20:34Speaker 1: that they got it right, don't. Did you say erratic action,
- 20:38Speaker 1: urantic action?
- 20:38Speaker 5: It was not late.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Late nineties early to different different.
- 20:46Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure different actions.
- 20:48Speaker 8: No, man, I've actually caught fish on it.
- 20:51Speaker 2: You were quick.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I about you.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I remember the commercial.
- 20:55Speaker 2: But Tony's allergic to fish.
- 20:58Speaker 8: Really, we employed multi That's why I just catch them
- 21:01Speaker 8: to punish them a little, trying to kill me.
- 21:04Speaker 1: What's been your worst experience with the fish allergy?
- 21:07Speaker 8: Uh, well, when you figure out you have a fish allergy,
- 21:10Speaker 8: especially when you're little, and your parents do like fish
- 21:13Speaker 8: fries and you have just it's been bad and.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Then they like make the French fries in the same oil.
- 21:18Speaker 8: Or well no, no, they would feed me fish and
- 21:20Speaker 8: I'd get sick and they would finally put two and
- 21:23Speaker 8: two together, but it does not make me feel good.
- 21:26Speaker 5: You and Chester should hang out.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Here's the question one more time for Yanni. What lures
- 21:32Speaker 1: infomercial that aired in the late nineties and early two
- 21:35Speaker 1: thousands claimed it's erratic action triggered a fish's genetic response
- 21:40Speaker 1: to bite. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and
- 21:44Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Danielle saying lose, Jordan's sang
- 21:48Speaker 1: Flashy Spinner, Tony sang banjo Minnow, Tyler saying banjo minnow,
- 21:54Speaker 1: Giannis and Mark saying banjo Minnow, Clay sang rattletrap, Seth
- 21:58Speaker 1: sang husky jerk. The correct answer is banjo mino'.
- 22:05Speaker 5: That's dead. I know if you have it within your
- 22:11Speaker 5: follow up here, but will you explain like the form
- 22:15Speaker 5: and the shape and how it worked.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Well, we can talk about it afterwards. Here's the fact it.
- 22:19Speaker 1: The banjo Minnow is one of the most famous ASSCN
- 22:22Speaker 1: non TV products of all time. The original infomercial that
- 22:26Speaker 1: was four minutes long, advertised a one hundred and ten
- 22:29Speaker 1: piece banjo mino kit for nineteen ninety five. But wait,
- 22:33Speaker 1: if you order right now, they'll actually double the offer
- 22:36Speaker 1: and send you a second kit completely free. That's right,
- 22:39Speaker 1: the two hundred and twenty piece banjo Minokit could be
- 22:41Speaker 1: yours for just nineteen ninety five. Unsurprisingly, it made Kooby
- 22:46Speaker 1: Brown's list of the eight worst lures ever made, which
- 22:49Speaker 1: you can read at the meadeater dot com. Now the
- 22:52Speaker 1: erratic action, maybe Tony can better explain it since he
- 22:55Speaker 1: has fish it. I also bought it, Tony. I've never
- 22:57Speaker 1: caught a fish on it. I did not like how
- 23:00Speaker 1: the lure went through like or excuse me, the hook
- 23:02Speaker 1: went through the eyelids. You needed a very aggressive fish
- 23:06Speaker 1: to engulf that whole thing, whereas like most spinner baits, right,
- 23:09Speaker 1: the hook is through the body, not the banjo meno
- 23:12Speaker 1: though swim baits.
- 23:13Speaker 8: I think you'd be closest too. Do you remember that
- 23:16Speaker 8: they had the gliding mino or the banjo glider too.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I don't remember that one.
- 23:19Speaker 2: It would hit the water and it would go underneath stuff.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the when I finished. They had the weighted
- 23:25Speaker 5: hook right, and it would cause it to go away
- 23:28Speaker 5: from you. That thing caught some fit.
- 23:29Speaker 2: It didn't take like, it didn't do good. We still
- 23:31Speaker 2: don't have so it.
- 23:33Speaker 8: Was actually just skip tons of stuff under It was.
- 23:36Speaker 1: The best selling lure in America I think for like
- 23:38Speaker 1: two thousand and five and two thousand and six, backs
- 23:40Speaker 1: back years, and it hit five million sales I think
- 23:42Speaker 1: in two thousand and seven. So folks sure bought it,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and I was one of them.
- 23:47Speaker 3: I realized another thing when you were sharing that factoid,
- 23:51Speaker 3: that if the trivia thing ever kind of fizzles out
- 23:53Speaker 3: for you, you do have the perfect voice and personality
- 23:56Speaker 3: for infomercials.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Oh what's the personality bit? Tell me about that?
- 24:03Speaker 5: I think we all know him. We are halfway through
- 24:06Speaker 5: the game of trivia.
- 24:07Speaker 10: Give us a scoreboard update in dead last place with
- 24:11Speaker 10: one point, it's Clay new com.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Clay.
- 24:15Speaker 2: It's so sad to hear that, because you're so fun,
- 24:18Speaker 2: you'll have it just going downhill, man. But I came
- 24:22Speaker 2: on strong the first couple of games I played.
- 24:25Speaker 10: I thought I was good, right ahead of him. We've
- 24:27Speaker 10: got Seth and Jordan with two points, Tyler, Mark and
- 24:31Speaker 10: Danielle have three points a piece, Giannis Putellis has four,
- 24:34Speaker 10: and with a perfect game, we've got Tony Peterson.
- 24:39Speaker 8: Do you know why this doesn't give me any confidence?
- 24:41Speaker 8: The first time I did this, I went five for
- 24:44Speaker 8: five and then I just got smoked. That was when
- 24:46Speaker 8: you beat me at the first light each I only
- 24:49Speaker 8: got one in the second half and I took second place.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Yeah, still time.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Well you know, didn't some of those Cinderella Schools and
- 24:57Speaker 2: March Madness just come back and almost make it to
- 25:00Speaker 2: the championship game? You know what I'm talking about, asking
- 25:03Speaker 2: the person I was thinking about? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 2: I mean it could be, it could be my story.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Question six the topic is tramping. This is our listener
- 25:25Speaker 1: question in the week, which was won by Isaiah Tolo
- 25:29Speaker 1: for sending this great question. Isaiah is going to get
- 25:31Speaker 1: a book signed by Steve. Name one of the four
- 25:36Speaker 1: states that tramped the most beavers in twenty eighteen. Name
- 25:44Speaker 1: one this private trapping or name one of the four
- 25:46Speaker 1: states that tramped the most beavers in twenty eighteen.
- 25:49Speaker 7: Uh.
- 25:50Speaker 1: This was from data from the Association of Fish and
- 25:53Speaker 1: Wildlife Agencies, which I believe is just tracking folks like
- 25:58Speaker 1: Seth that are out tramped beavers. Again, named one of
- 26:03Speaker 1: the four states that trapped the most beavers in twenty eighteen.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Seth is the trappingest fellow among us. Do you think
- 26:10Speaker 1: you have this one, right.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:14Speaker 5: I feel like it.
- 26:15Speaker 3: I feel like I do, but I'm trying to remember
- 26:18Speaker 3: if Steve and I trapped beavers that year.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Okay, but that would make a difference.
- 26:21Speaker 5: I'd make a different Get answer.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm talking about Does everybody have an answer? Go
- 26:29Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Danielle saying Alaska,
- 26:34Speaker 1: Jordan's sang Wyoming, Tony saying Alaska, Tyler saying Alaska, Jannis
- 26:40Speaker 1: saang Minnesota, Mark saying Pennsylvania, Clay sang Wisconsin, Seth saying Montana.
- 26:47Speaker 1: The four states are Minnesota, Wisconsin, New York, and Michigan.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Hit a few folks almost right. This data is from
- 26:58Speaker 1: the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. According to their report,
- 27:03Speaker 1: Minnesota's tramped over thirty one thousand beavers in twenty eighteen.
- 27:08Speaker 1: That's followed by Wisconsin, New York, and Michigan at twenty thousand,
- 27:12Speaker 1: in Alabama at eighteen thousand. Some of the states that
- 27:15Speaker 1: trapped the fewest beavers included California at five, Arizona at
- 27:19Speaker 1: thirty five, and Delaware at eighty eight. Now there were
- 27:22Speaker 1: also states at trapped zero didn't include them in this data.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I think Alaska would actually be a zero. I don't
- 27:28Speaker 1: know that they even have beavers up there.
- 27:30Speaker 9: Oh what, surely.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I will google it right now.
- 27:36Speaker 2: If they don't have beavers, I just read them, he
- 27:43Speaker 2: would say, I'm sorry.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Beavers are considered to be common in abundant throughout the
- 27:46Speaker 1: range in Alaska. I assume that if they were abundant
- 27:49Speaker 1: up there, they would have made the list.
- 27:51Speaker 2: But hey, do you know what submit here? He would say,
- 27:55Speaker 2: I want to get those the guy that trapped those
- 27:57Speaker 2: five beavers in California on the podcast, which is weird.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It's illegal in California, So I'm guessing those five instances
- 28:03Speaker 1: were like one person had a nuisance beaver that they
- 28:06Speaker 1: got permission to tramp. But surely biologists there trapped more
- 28:09Speaker 1: than five beavers, So I don't even know what that
- 28:11Speaker 1: five would be made up of. Question seven the topic
- 28:16Speaker 1: is conservation. What conservation organization merged with the Quality Deer
- 28:22Speaker 1: Management Association in twenty twenty to form the National Deer Association.
- 28:30Speaker 1: What conservation organization merged with the Quality Deer Management Association
- 28:35Speaker 1: in twenty twenty to form the National Deer Association.
- 28:41Speaker 2: I bet you got this one right, Mark, I bet
- 28:46Speaker 2: I wish you would have asked it the other way
- 28:48Speaker 2: because I know QDMA.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Again, what Conservation Organization merged with the Quality Deer Management
- 28:57Speaker 1: Association in twenty twenty to form the National Dear Association.
- 29:02Speaker 3: I helped them with the merge.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Wow, that's what we call about them.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I didn't know that part. Clay, do you have this
- 29:15Speaker 1: one right?
- 29:16Speaker 2: I feel I feel fairly confident. I mean, I'm in
- 29:20Speaker 2: the game. I'm in the game.
- 29:22Speaker 1: But Tony as confident as Mark? Tony you got this
- 29:25Speaker 1: one right?
- 29:26Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 29:27Speaker 8: And it really bothers me. Geez, tell me, I'm having
- 29:31Speaker 8: I'm getting the yips on the second half.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Again, and you jinxed yourself I bringing that up?
- 29:36Speaker 2: So dumb.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Man disappointed?
- 29:42Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? M hm, go ahead and
- 29:48Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have, Danielle, what's your answer, Danielle.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Danielle sang National Deer Alliance, Jordan's sang American white Tail,
- 29:58Speaker 1: Tony saying National Deer Alliance, Tyler saying National Deer Alliance,
- 30:02Speaker 1: YA saying White Tail Institute, Mark saying National Dear Alliance,
- 30:07Speaker 1: Clay saying Dear Alliance, Seth saying Dear Alliance. The correct
- 30:11Speaker 1: answer is National Dear Alliance. I think if you said,
- 30:15Speaker 1: dear Alliance, will give it to you. How many points
- 30:23Speaker 1: do Seth and Clay have?
- 30:25Speaker 10: Three?
- 30:25Speaker 5: Now for me?
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 30:27Speaker 3: The game?
- 30:29Speaker 5: If you give it to them each?
- 30:30Speaker 1: What it was.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Will?
- 30:35Speaker 3: I was involved in, like present, for all the conversations
- 30:38Speaker 3: around the naming of all this, and there was very
- 30:41Speaker 3: specific debate about like is it should it be Deer
- 30:44Speaker 3: A Lions, should be National Deer Alliance, And it was
- 30:46Speaker 3: very important that it was not Deer Alliance.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Mark based on your authority, I think we're not going
- 30:51Speaker 1: to give it to them.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 30:54Speaker 5: Here's the other part.
- 30:54Speaker 1: It kind of doesn't matter you guys.
- 30:57Speaker 5: Have two or three points?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Is just a touchy pride, les, Do you have such
- 31:03Speaker 2: a small amount of freaking MAQDMA was.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Formed and the National Deer was formed in twenty fourteen.
- 31:13Speaker 1: One of their big goals is combining powers was to
- 31:16Speaker 1: serve all deer and deer hunters rather than solely focusing
- 31:20Speaker 1: on white tails. Other areas of emphasis for the newly
- 31:23Speaker 1: formed group are habitat access and disease management.
- 31:28Speaker 3: I should point out I was not involved in deciding
- 31:30Speaker 3: that I'll just privy.
- 31:31Speaker 2: To the information.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Question eight, the topic is hunting. This next great question
- 31:34Speaker 1: comes to is via Ja Canson. If you have a
- 31:37Speaker 1: question you think is right for Meat Eater Trivia, you
- 31:39Speaker 1: can send it to trivia at the medeater dot com.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Modeled after the federal duck stamp program, Masioke started selling
- 31:47Speaker 1: their own stamps in twenty twenty two that benefit this
- 31:51Speaker 1: game Animal. Modeled after the federal duck stamp program. Massoc
- 31:58Speaker 1: started selling their own stamps in twenty twenty two that
- 32:01Speaker 1: benefit this game Animal. Danielle with a very confident answer, Danielle,
- 32:06Speaker 1: do you have this one right?
- 32:07Speaker 3: I think so.
- 32:08Speaker 1: The whole room actually looks quite confident. Clay again showing
- 32:11Speaker 1: his answer to everybody.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Yess it does.
- 32:14Speaker 2: All that matters. You're just gonna put yeah, there you go,
- 32:20Speaker 2: There you go.
- 32:22Speaker 5: Is one Withanda, just the.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 32:29Speaker 1: We have Danielle saying turkey, Turkey, Turkey, Turkey, Turkey. Everybody
- 32:34Speaker 1: said turkey. Everybody got it right. The correct answer was turkey.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Massioakes twenty twenty two stamp collected twenty thousand dollars in
- 32:43Speaker 1: their first twenty four hours it was available. The stamp,
- 32:46Speaker 1: which was painted by Dan Morton, costs fifteen dollars. The
- 32:50Speaker 1: brand has dedicated one hundred percent of proceeds to fund
- 32:53Speaker 1: wild Turkey research, which doctor Mike Chamberlain will help advise. Phil,
- 32:58Speaker 1: we have two questions left. Give it to scoreboard.
- 33:00Speaker 5: Maybe maybe hold on?
- 33:01Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 33:02Speaker 5: Yanni and I were the only one that said wild turkey?
- 33:05Speaker 6: Fuck?
- 33:07Speaker 5: Are we talking pen Ray's turkeys here? And when you
- 33:11Speaker 5: read that, you said wild turkey.
- 33:13Speaker 1: It's a good point. Everybody gets, that's right.
- 33:20Speaker 10: Go ahead, Phil, Seth, Jordan, and Clay are eliminated with
- 33:24Speaker 10: three points apiece. Tyler, Mark and Danielle all have five points.
- 33:29Speaker 10: Jannis has six and in first place. Didn't jinx himself
- 33:32Speaker 10: too bad? It's Tony Peters sing with seven points, right,
- 33:37Speaker 10: the perfect game?
- 33:38Speaker 5: Enough with the white questions, okay.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Question nine, the topic is foraging Tony, how are your
- 33:44Speaker 1: foraging skills horrible?
- 33:45Speaker 2: Okay?
- 33:46Speaker 1: Name two of the four mushrooms included in the fool
- 33:50Speaker 1: Proof four. Name two of the four mushrooms included in
- 33:57Speaker 1: the fool Proof four? Who does have the forging chops
- 34:02Speaker 1: in this room? Clay, you're kind of a forger.
- 34:04Speaker 10: Right, Danielle.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Just oh, Dan, I'm sorry, Danielle. I can't see you
- 34:07Speaker 1: over here. You're not in my line of vision. How
- 34:09Speaker 1: do you feel about getting this one? You are, Tony,
- 34:14Speaker 1: You're you gonna mess up here. It'd be kind of
- 34:16Speaker 1: cool if you did. It's a real possibility. Buddy again,
- 34:23Speaker 1: name two of the four mushrooms included in the fool
- 34:27Speaker 1: Proof four. Yanni, you're gonna get this one. There's a
- 34:35Speaker 1: good chance, Seth, you're gonna get this one.
- 34:39Speaker 5: It doesn't matter anymore.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Spencer, I've upset this side of the table.
- 34:44Speaker 2: You know what, if there was anybody that you wanted
- 34:47Speaker 2: to lose with, it would be Seth. Look at this guy.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Look I've got I've got some mushrooms on the back
- 34:52Speaker 5: of my board. Everybody, take a look at him. It
- 34:55Speaker 5: might give you a hit, can help you.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Danielle is floundering over here, a lot of pressure, Danielle.
- 35:02Speaker 5: Yeah, you really should be the one.
- 35:04Speaker 4: That I know wild And there's something you said that
- 35:09Speaker 4: makes it tricky that there's one that's like, oh, it's
- 35:12Speaker 4: so easy to identify, but there is a species and.
- 35:16Speaker 1: A lot of hints here.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Dan, Yeah, I'm thinking about that. Same thing Danielle.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Got into Deep goes your gut.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 35:25Speaker 3: There's a great podcast on Wired to Hunt where Spencer
- 35:29Speaker 3: showcases this very right the.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Deer Hunter's got.
- 35:32Speaker 2: But it feels like Mark has the playbook for this one.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Alliance.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I wrote the book on those mushrooms.
- 35:42Speaker 5: Mark saying.
- 35:46Speaker 1: No, but I've learned that Tony and Mark are bunking
- 35:48Speaker 1: up together. Next time, just ask me one of you
- 35:51Speaker 1: two can stay at my house.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Only one of us, only one.
- 35:56Speaker 7: The other one.
- 35:56Speaker 1: The other one can have their own hotel de Mark
- 35:59Speaker 1: for this, go ahead your answers. We have Danielle saying
- 36:06Speaker 1: Chantrell and Morell, Jordan's saying Morell and White, Tony sang
- 36:11Speaker 1: Hen of the Woods and Puffballs, Tyler saying Morell and
- 36:15Speaker 1: Lyons Maine, Giannis saying Morell and Chantrell, Mark saying Morel's,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and Chantrell's Clay saying wild Morels wild or national, Chantrell's
- 36:27Speaker 1: Seth saying Morel's and Chicken of the woods. The four
- 36:31Speaker 1: mushrooms are Morell's, Chantrell's, puffballs, and Chicken of the woods.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Gummt Tony slipped up ah Hen of the Woods is
- 36:41Speaker 1: not one of them. These four mushrooms are considered to
- 36:45Speaker 1: be mushrooms that are good for beginners because they can
- 36:48Speaker 1: be identified with a high level of confidence. Some of
- 36:51Speaker 1: them made Hayden Sam's list of the six beginner friendly
- 36:54Speaker 1: mushrooms you can find in Summer, which you can read
- 36:57Speaker 1: on the meat eater dot com. Phil we have one
- 36:59Speaker 1: question left. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 37:03Speaker 10: Well, we've got Tony and Jannis now tied up in
- 37:06Speaker 10: first place with seven points. But Mark and Danielle can
- 37:10Speaker 10: technically slide in if Gianniser Tony slip up.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Okay, Danielle, you were right there last time. Tony, you
- 37:17Speaker 1: were right there last time. See if we can go
- 37:19Speaker 1: to a tiebreaker here. Question ten, the topic is wildlife.
- 37:23Speaker 1: You were for Spencer agreeing for a tiebreaker, rooting for
- 37:27Speaker 1: a tiebreaker foraging. I count that in the cooking category.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Our first question was about cuts of elk meat. So
- 37:32Speaker 1: we've had two cooking questions.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Danielle, you said forging that cooking.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I know possible to win here Giannis and who.
- 37:39Speaker 5: And Tony and Mark and Danielle.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Question ten, the topic is wildlife. This state lists the
- 37:46Speaker 1: grizzly as its state mammal, even though one hasn't been
- 37:50Speaker 1: documented there since the nineteen twenties. This state lists the
- 37:57Speaker 1: grizzly as its state mammal, though one hasn't been documented
- 38:01Speaker 1: there since the nineteen twenties.
- 38:04Speaker 3: I'm kind of bummed there's not a gear question.
- 38:06Speaker 1: We've had gear questions in the past. It's not one
- 38:09Speaker 1: of our four pillars, but often these fall. These will
- 38:11Speaker 1: fall into the gear category, like the banjo Minnow Giannis
- 38:15Speaker 1: got right, Jordan did not. Though, does everybody have an answer?
- 38:21Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answer to confident room. We
- 38:23Speaker 1: have Danielle saying California, California, California. Everybody said California. Wow,
- 38:30Speaker 1: everybody got it right. Answer for most California.
- 38:34Speaker 5: Questions that the whole room gets right.
- 38:36Speaker 1: We've learned before in a previous stant that it happens
- 38:38Speaker 1: about ten percent of the time. But I think we've
- 38:40Speaker 1: had it three times.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Three times today we are going to a tiebreaker. Play
- 38:45Speaker 5: the drop, oh boy. But here's the thing.
- 38:49Speaker 10: Steve said he didn't love the drop before, so I
- 38:52Speaker 10: made a new one, kind of as a joke, hoping
- 38:55Speaker 10: Steve would be here to hear it.
- 38:56Speaker 5: He's not, but I'm going to play it anyone.
- 38:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I think just cut it at if you ain't
- 39:06Speaker 6: first your laughs and then like going to other stuff.
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 39:09Speaker 2: I never liked it. A phil off Man.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Very good.
- 39:15Speaker 1: You know what, I trust Steve. He was right that
- 39:17Speaker 1: one did sound better what you just did there. So
- 39:19Speaker 1: who is in our tie breaking round we have? Is
- 39:22Speaker 1: it Tony? And you're honest? Everybody can play along. Oh,
- 39:26Speaker 1: now here's something that I've thought about. Somebody emailed us
- 39:29Speaker 1: suggesting a new rule for tiebreakers that's sort of a
- 39:32Speaker 1: one tall or one tie all tie. Here's what it is.
- 39:36Speaker 1: During the tie breaking question, if somebody who is not
- 39:40Speaker 1: tied for first place gets the answer right on the nose,
- 39:44Speaker 1: we will declare them the winner. What do you guys
- 39:45Speaker 1: think about?
- 39:49Speaker 2: So the tie breaking question, Clay, sounds like a great rule.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Is a numerical question. Whoever is closest to the correct
- 40:04Speaker 1: answer will be declared our winner. But this new wrinkle
- 40:07Speaker 1: would allow the person who is not in first place
- 40:10Speaker 1: to win the game.
- 40:13Speaker 5: You have to have had a good attitude.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I've had a great Tony, and.
- 40:21Speaker 5: This as long as anybody that decides to give an
- 40:26Speaker 5: answer that aren't in the tiebreaker. Now, if I get
- 40:30Speaker 5: it on the nose. I'm allowed to chop off any
- 40:33Speaker 5: one of their fingers that I choose. What is this rule?
- 40:39Speaker 5: I'm kidding, I'm all in.
- 40:41Speaker 1: It makes it more fun to let's try it. If
- 40:43Speaker 1: we all hate it at the end, we'll never do this.
- 40:46Speaker 10: And I think it's important to state that this is
- 40:47Speaker 10: practically impossible because you have them round to the nearest,
- 40:50Speaker 10: like tenth of a decimal point. Sometimes the answers are
- 40:52Speaker 10: like thousands, Like you're saying, like, well, the altitude of
- 40:55Speaker 10: this mountain, and it's like, you know, one's going to
- 40:56Speaker 10: get that right.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Okay for some of us.
- 41:00Speaker 1: So again we are down to Giannis and Tony, but
- 41:03Speaker 1: everybody can play along. See if you can hit it
- 41:06Speaker 1: dead nuts. Here is the tie breaking question. The topic
- 41:10Speaker 1: is hunting. This tiebreaker question came to us via Nick Watkins.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Oh, I know him, He's my best friend.
- 41:17Speaker 1: According to a twenty twenty two paper in the Wildlife
- 41:21Speaker 1: Society bulletin, how many states have Eastern wild turkeys? According
- 41:29Speaker 1: to a twenty twenty two paper in the Wildlife Society bulletin,
- 41:34Speaker 1: how many states have Eastern wild turkeys?
- 41:37Speaker 2: Oh, Eastern turkeys.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I'm very excited.
- 41:42Speaker 5: It's a little more dual than sure, that's right.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Sometimes the answer would be like eight hundred dollars and
- 41:48Speaker 1: fifteen cents. Nobody's gonna win it. Then this one is
- 41:51Speaker 1: a real possibility, Claire. Are you listing out the states
- 41:57Speaker 1: for all to see?
- 41:58Speaker 2: Nope, just making hashmark okay, which.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Is also for all to see. His board is down
- 42:03Speaker 1: on the table.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I'm up to fifteen, generiously.
- 42:10Speaker 1: According to a twenty twenty two paper in the Wildlife
- 42:14Speaker 1: Society bulletin, how many states have Eastern wild turkeys? Tony,
- 42:20Speaker 1: you are a pretty well traveled turkey hunter. How many
- 42:22Speaker 1: states do you think you've killed turkeys in? Doesn't have
- 42:24Speaker 1: to be easterns? How many states you killed the turkey?
- 42:27Speaker 2: And maybe like ten?
- 42:29Speaker 1: Come be honest? How about you?
- 42:31Speaker 5: What would be your Yeah, I'm probably writing that same range.
- 42:34Speaker 1: It's a good question for you too. How do you
- 42:37Speaker 1: feel about your answer? I feel like I overshot it, okay,
- 42:41Speaker 1: but not by a ton Yanni. What are you thinking?
- 42:47Speaker 5: How am I feeling about my answer? I haven't written
- 42:50Speaker 5: one down yet.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Now do they have to get the closest the closest
- 42:55Speaker 2: between those? But if we get it, give us like
- 43:00Speaker 2: five minutes so you really count Clay.
- 43:03Speaker 8: I think you need this because I don't think meat
- 43:04Speaker 8: Eater's given you enough love yet. Yeah, I think it's
- 43:08Speaker 8: time for you to shine a little. I'll take this
- 43:12Speaker 8: from time, Clay. Let's make this guy feel special for
- 43:19Speaker 8: one time.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Should we go?
- 43:22Speaker 2: Yeah? There we go?
- 43:24Speaker 5: Yeah we go?
- 43:24Speaker 1: Joanny, how we doing down there?
- 43:25Speaker 5: Do you have an answer you want me to write?
- 43:27Speaker 5: Does Tony have an answer? All right?
- 43:28Speaker 1: I think everybody has an answer.
- 43:31Speaker 5: I got an answer.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Mark, do you have an answer?
- 43:33Speaker 3: I'm working on still, but yeah.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 43:39Speaker 5: We have, Danielle.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Let's see your answer, Okay, Danielle saying fourteen, Jordan's sang
- 43:47Speaker 1: thirty one, Tyler saying thirty eight, Clay sang nineteen, Seth
- 43:53Speaker 1: saying thirty seven, Mark sayg twenty seven. And our two
- 43:57Speaker 1: competitors left, Giannis saying thirty seven, Evan Tony saying thirty four.
- 44:03Speaker 1: I'll tell you this, somebody hit it right on the nose.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Our winner is Tyler?
- 44:15Speaker 7: WHOA What a game?
- 44:21Speaker 1: In playing media Tria, Both games came down to the
- 44:24Speaker 1: tie breaker. I'm sorry, Yanni and Tony.
- 44:27Speaker 7: You guys, maybe day you're right on Tony, Yanni you
- 44:32Speaker 7: said thirty Tyler knows now, he knows right now, he's
- 44:35Speaker 7: thinking about how he kind of robbed me of my win.
- 44:39Speaker 5: I am, he's gonna have to liver that.
- 44:41Speaker 9: Men have an idea though, I want to give. I
- 44:44Speaker 9: want to give you the opportunity for the donation.
- 44:46Speaker 1: As a reminder, we had Giannis who said thirty seven,
- 44:49Speaker 1: who was in the tiebreaker? And Tyler? How many points
- 44:51Speaker 1: did Tyler even have.
- 44:52Speaker 6: In this game?
- 44:54Speaker 5: Okay?
- 44:54Speaker 9: So did you know that I counted states and I
- 44:59Speaker 9: figured I was close, but I didn't. I mean I
- 45:01Speaker 9: figured I was within maybe four.
- 45:02Speaker 7: You know.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Tyler, where is the five hundred dollars donation from
- 45:06Speaker 1: meat Eater going to go ahead?
- 45:09Speaker 5: It'll be a long time, probably since you're back here. Yeah,
- 45:13Speaker 5: it'll make sure.
- 45:17Speaker 6: You know.
- 45:17Speaker 1: I did it last time, but I did.
- 45:20Speaker 9: I ran a committee for Ducks Unlimited, so i'd like
- 45:23Speaker 9: to uh in specific, the Sulfur Springs, Texas Ducks Unlimited branch, and.
- 45:27Speaker 1: You you used to be a part of that branch,
- 45:29Speaker 1: right you helped find it.
- 45:30Speaker 9: So I was a committee chairman or whatever for the
- 45:33Speaker 9: Emery branch was a really small branch where I live,
- 45:36Speaker 9: but I worked with Sulfur springs a bunch.
- 45:38Speaker 1: So well done, Tyler, Johannis, Tony, you made a good effort.
- 45:42Speaker 1: But in a Meat Eater first somebody who wasn't in
- 45:45Speaker 1: first place at the time breaker wins the game and
- 45:48Speaker 1: maybe the only time we ever do it.
- 45:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I have a feeling of Steve. We're in the
- 45:52Speaker 5: room right now. This would not.
- 45:55Speaker 1: But you know what Steve is not here.
- 45:58Speaker 5: It would all depend on what Steve was playing in
- 46:01Speaker 5: the actual time record or not.
