- 0:01When we reflect on the time we have in our lifetime and how we
- 0:05utilize it, we find that. After we calculate time spent in
- 0:09sleeping, eating bathing growth in childhood earning a living
- 0:15exercising. We have a very limited amount of
- 0:19what may be called free time available to us.
- 0:23In a culture and society that wants to keep us occupied at all
- 0:27times. This free time is generally
- 0:30allocated to various forms of recreation or dissipation of our
- 0:35focus and energies. Any moment when we do not have a
- 0:40specific task or activity is considered empty and we deal
- 0:45with the feeling of boredom. Our society provides us Endless
- 0:50Options for filling this time. Some spent in building up our
- 0:54skills and experience for success in the outer world of
- 0:58action. And other time in socializing or
- 1:02even actions of outright dissipation such as use of drugs
- 1:06or alcohol or use simply as a distraction in various forms of
- 1:11mindless entertainment, in which we habitually engaged. the
- 1:17mother suggest that this very limited free time is actually of
- 1:21extraordinary value and can be focused and applied towards
- 1:25spiritual growth, inner development, and understanding
- 1:29of the meaning of our lives and actions, The mother notes quote,
- 1:35how often there is a kind of emptiness in the course of life
- 1:39and unoccupied moment, a few minutes sometimes more and what
- 1:44do you do immediately? You try to distract yourself and
- 1:49you invent some foolishness or other to pass your time.
- 1:55That is a common fact. All men from the youngest to the
- 1:59oldest spend most of their time in trying not to be bored.
- 2:04Their petrol version is boredom. And the way to escape from
- 2:08boredom is to act foolishly. Well, there is a better way than
- 2:14that. To remember when you have a
- 2:17little time, whether it is 1 hour or a few minutes, tell
- 2:21yourself at last, I have some time to concentrate to collect
- 2:26myself. to relive the purpose of my life, to offer myself to the
- 2:32true and the eternal If you took care to do this, each time you
- 2:37are not harassed by outer circumstances.
- 2:40You would find out that you were advancing very quickly on the
- 2:43path. Instead of wasting your time.
- 2:46In chattering, in doing useless, things reading things that lower
- 2:51the Consciousness to choose only the best cases.
- 2:55I am not speaking of other imbecilities which are much more
- 2:58serious. Instead of trying to make
- 3:01yourself giddy to make time that is already so short still
- 3:06shorter only to realize at the end of your life that you have
- 3:10lost three quarters of your chance.
- 3:14Then you want to put in double time but that does not work.
- 3:18It is better to be moderate balanced patient quiet but never
- 3:24to lose an opportunity that is given to you.
- 3:27That is to say to utilize for the true purpose.
- 3:31The unoccupied moment before you When you have nothing to do, you
- 3:36become Restless, you run about you meet friends, you take a
- 3:41walk to speak, only of the best. I am not referring to things
- 3:46that are obviously not to be done.
- 3:49Instead of that, sit down quietly before the sky.
- 3:53Before the see were under trees, whatever is possible.
- 3:59Here you have all of them and try to realize one of these
- 4:02things to understand why you live to learn how you must live
- 4:09to ponder over, what you want to do, and what should be done,
- 4:13what is the best way of escaping from the ignorance and falsehood
- 4:17and pain in which you live? And quote, reference SRI
