- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and today we're going to explore a part of the body that's super useful, especially when you're at the dentist. Luna: Oh, I remember mentioning the dentist in an earlier episode. But today we're actually going to learn some new words for that, right? Lucas: Exactly. And quick honest thing – a handful of listeners chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that's literally what funds making this many of these. It keeps the show ad-free, so if you can, that's a nice way to support. Luna: Yeah, it really helps us keep going and doing what we love. So thanks to anyone who does that. But now, let's get back to the body – today it's all about the mouth. Lucas: Right. So we've done oog and oor, and today we're adding two more: tong and tand. Let's start with tong. Luna: Tong. That means tongue, right? Like the thing in your mouth you taste with. Lucas: Yes, exactly. De tong. Say it with me, Luna. Luna: De tong. De tong. Lucas: Perfect. Now, imagine you burn your tongue on hot soup. You'd say: Mijn tong doet pijn. Luna: Mijn tong doet pijn. So that's 'my tongue hurts'. Lucas: Exactly. And it's a really useful pattern because we've used 'doet pijn' with other body parts too. Now let's move to tand. Luna: Tand. That's tooth. So one tooth is a tand. Lucas: Yes, de tand. And if it's more than one, we say tanden, but let's keep it simple today. So if you have a toothache, you say: Ik heb kiespijn. Luna: Ik heb kiespijn. That's a new word – kiespijn. I like it. It sounds exactly like what it is. Lucas: It does. And you could also say: Mijn tand doet pijn. That's a bit more specific, like pointing at a particular tooth. Luna: Mijn tand doet pijn. So if I say that, people know I'm talking about a specific tooth, not just a general ache. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice all of them one more time. De tong. Luna: De tong. Lucas: Mijn tong doet pijn. Luna: Mijn tong doet pijn. Lucas: De tand. Luna: De tand. Lucas: Ik heb kiespijn. Luna: Ik heb kiespijn. Lucas: And one more: Mijn tand doet pijn. Luna: Mijn tand doet pijn. Lucas: Great job. Now let's put this in a tiny scene. Imagine you're at the dentist in the Netherlands. The dentist asks: Waar doet het pijn? Luna: Oh, so they ask where it hurts. And I can say: Mijn tand doet pijn. Or maybe: Ik heb kiespijn. Lucas: Perfect. And if you accidentally bite your tongue, you could say: Mijn tong doet pijn. That's a handy one. Luna: For sure. I actually bit my tongue last week eating chips. Now I know exactly how to say it. Lucas: See, real-life useful. So to recap: de tong, de tand, Mijn tong doet pijn., Ik heb kiespijn., and Mijn tand doet pijn. Luna: I think I've got it. De tong, de tand. Mijn tong doet pijn. Ik heb kiespijn. Mijn tand doet pijn. Lucas: You nailed it. Keep practicing these until we meet again. And if you want more, check out buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Thanks for listening, and see you next time.
