Latest / The Vault: The Epstein Files / Survivors in Limbo: How DOJ Contradictions Are Delaying Justice in the Epstein Case

- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. One of the biggest issues with the DOJ
- 0:08right now, amongst many issues, is the fact that they
- 0:12have a lot of mixed messages when it comes to
- 0:15Jeffrey Epstein. The right hand never seems to know what
- 0:19the left hand is doing, and the narrative just jumps
- 0:21around like a record skipping on a regular basis. One day,
- 0:26there's no investigations to be had. The next day, Todd
- 0:29Blanche wants to hear from the survivors and get to
- 0:33the truth, only to flip around and tell us, well,
- 0:35it's time to move on. And then they wonder why
- 0:38people are confused. They wonder why people have questions about
- 0:42what the DJ is up to and if the DJ
- 0:44is doing their job correctly or if they're engaging in
- 0:47a cover up. And even if you want to give
- 0:49the administration in Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt,
- 0:53I think it's obvious that there is a cover up underway,
- 0:56and that cover up is being overseen by Donald Trump
- 1:00and this DOJ, and I think that the mixed messaging
- 1:04is just one of the signals. So today we have
- 1:07an article from the Guardian and the headline Trump's DOJ's
- 1:11mixed messages vote ill for Epstein victims, experts, fear, and
- 1:15I just had a narrative episode about this recently, discussing
- 1:19just how damaging this mixed messaging is. It really throws
- 1:23a wrench into things, right, it's certainly the fly in
- 1:26the ointment, and it confuses people. And the only reason
- 1:32that you're looking to confuse people if you're the DOJ,
- 1:35is because you're covering it up. This article was authored
- 1:40by Victoria B. Kempests. In the day since Pambondi's exit
- 1:46from Donald Trump's Justice Department, Jeffrey Epstein's survivors and transparency
- 1:50advocates have been confronted by mixed messaging, prompting questions of
- 1:54how weather a full accounting of his crimes would ever
- 1:57be revealed. Well, that would be hard, consider there was
- 2:00never a real investigation to begin with, so good luck.
- 2:05Legal veterans told The Guardian that authority's decisions, such as
- 2:08Bondie's failure to appear for a congressional subpoena about our
- 2:11handling of Epstein investigative files, pretend poorly for accountability. Well,
- 2:16no shit, did you know that the sky was blue.
- 2:19No shit. It pretends poorly for accountability. There hasn't been
- 2:22accountability since the very beginning of this and the only
- 2:25way there's ever going to be real accountability is if
- 2:28we force it as the populace. But unfortunately a lot
- 2:32of people don't want to hold these incumbents responsible for
- 2:36their bullshit, and they just keep sending them back to DC.
- 2:39Why I'll never know, but here we are moreover her replacements.
- 2:44Comments about the status of Epstein investigations has been perceived
- 2:47by some as an effort to acknowledge prior missteps without
- 2:51presenting definitive solutions. Don't fall for it. Todd Blanche was
- 2:55the architect of the whole entire Glaine Maxwell fiasco. This
- 2:59man had no business being the Attorney General acting or not.
- 3:05In fact, if anybody should get up there in front
- 3:07of Congress and be put under oath, Blanche is one
- 3:11of them, because I think that he's the one that
- 3:14engineered the whole entire fiasco with Glenn Maxwell, and he
- 3:19needs to answer for it, and he needs to answer
- 3:21under oath. I mean, we're talking about someone who committed
- 3:25crimes against children being moved from a medium security prison
- 3:29to a prison camp literally unheard of, and we don't
- 3:35have any questions about that. Nobody's going bananas about that.
- 3:39Probably a good thing to get to the bottom of.
- 3:46Bondi's not appearance at our scheduled congressional deposition did not
- 3:50come as a surprise. Of course, it wasn't a surprise.
- 3:53It was a calculated move by Donald Trump fire Bondi
- 3:56and then have all of his little useful idiots on
- 3:59that commission come out and say that nobody needs to
- 4:02hear from her. That was always the goal, that was
- 4:05always the plan. And for somebody that supposedly is playing
- 4:09four D chess, seems like I see right through all
- 4:12of his bullshit, doesn't it. Every time he's making a move.
- 4:15It's obvious what's going on. Trump's Department of Justice, now
- 4:22helmed temporarily by his former criminal defense attorney Todd Blanche
- 4:26had told the House Oversight Committee that Bondi would not
- 4:28appear for the fourteenth of April hearing. Committee members said
- 4:32they were told this non appearance was because Bondi is
- 4:35no longer Attorney General and was subpoenaed in her capacity
- 4:39as attorney general. Had no problem bringing Bill Barr up.
- 4:43Huh sure, put that dude on the spot now they
- 4:47should have right. I have no problem with it. Bill
- 4:49Barr's scumbag and he lied to He's part of the
- 4:51cover up. But to attempt to tell the American people
- 4:54that Pam Bondi shouldn't be spoken with by Congress because
- 4:57she's no longer the Attorney General, you can cap that
- 5:00shit right now. Nobody wants to hear it, a committee
- 5:06spokesperson said. Since Pam Bondi is no longer Attorney General,
- 5:09Chairman Comer will speak with Republican members and the Department
- 5:13of Justice about the status of the deposition subpoena and
- 5:16confer on the next steps. Coward shit, Like I told you,
- 5:21James Comer part of the cover up to all these people.
- 5:25Nobody's ever going to be held accountable for it. But
- 5:27they're all part of it, and I don't think they
- 5:29understand the kind of harm they're doing. Now. Sure, MAGA
- 5:34might be, you know, rallying around Donald Trump, and they're
- 5:37gonna do whatever Donald Trump wants them to do, but
- 5:40they make up what thirty percent of the Republican Party
- 5:43or whatever hardcore MAGA, how do you plan on winning
- 5:46elections with thirty percent of the populace. Good luck. So
- 5:51it's all fun and games now. But when the election
- 5:54comes rolling around and people start holding folks accountable, I
- 5:58don't think it's going to be as fun anymore. And
- 6:00I doubt they're going to have all these little snarky
- 6:02ass comments when the shoe is on the other foot.
- 6:06Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the committee, vowed that
- 6:09his colleagues would take action after Bondi fail to appear.
- 6:12Pam Bondi is evading a lawful congressional subpoena by failing
- 6:16to appear before the House Overside Committee for a deposition
- 6:20about the Epstein files and the White House cover up,
- 6:22he said in a statement. She must appear before the committee,
- 6:26and if she continues to ignore the law oversighte Democrats
- 6:29will move forward with contempt proceedings immediately. Good job they should.
- 6:34She is in contempt, Like why is this so difficult
- 6:38for people to understand? And all the people that are
- 6:42rallying around Bondi, what happens when it's the other guy?
- 6:47You know, when the Democrat Attorney general fucks up because
- 6:50you know that's coming, and then he's protected by the
- 6:54same precedent that you're giving here. You're going to cry
- 6:57to Holy Heaven. Oh it's not fair. Everything's against us.
- 7:02The media just shut up. You're making your own bed
- 7:05right now. And it's embarrassing, absolutely embarrassing. In fact, at
- 7:12this point they shouldn't even call it the Republican Party anymore.
- 7:15Are there any conservatives left? I don't see any. He added.
- 7:22We will fight until there is true accountability and justice. Well,
- 7:25those are great words, but I don't believe Robert Garcia either.
- 7:29Another guy that pitches a lot of bullshit and then
- 7:33never backs it up. Adding to the confusion is the
- 7:38committee's insistence that Bondi will eventually appear. An Oversight Committee
- 7:42spokesperson said in a statement, ranking member Garcia is a hypocrite.
- 7:46The Clintons defied lawful subpoenas for seven months, and he
- 7:49said nothing and never wrote a letter to the chairman.
- 7:53When the Oversight Committee moved to hold them in contempt
- 7:55in Congress, he voted no. Last week, the Department of
- 7:58Justice indicated that Pam Bondy would not appear for the
- 8:02fourteen April deposition because she's no longer Attorney General. We're
- 8:06working to reschedule the Deposition ranking member Garcia's outrage is
- 8:10purely performative. Yeah, kind of like you guys not going
- 8:14to talk to Wexner. That wasn't performative. I know that
- 8:19he's feeding a lot of money into the GOP, but
- 8:22that's neither here nor there, or is it. You would
- 8:26think that people that are so worried about getting to
- 8:29the bottom of things would want to know what less
- 8:32Wexner has to say, But I guess not. I guess
- 8:35I'm wrong. Whether this push for transparency and justice will
- 8:41yield anything in the way of actionable information remains ever unclear,
- 8:45as the Epstein investigation remains mired in political logjams. Despite
- 8:50broad public support for accountability. Blanche's recent comments have only
- 8:55added to the confusion, prompting questions about what's next in
- 8:58the saga. Blanche planned on Wednesday that the DOJ would
- 9:03back additional inquiries into Abstein, saying at the Semaphore World
- 9:07Economy Conference that he would support congressional hearings with the victims.
- 9:12We have said repeatedly from day one that if there
- 9:14is any victim that wants to come forward and talk
- 9:16about what they know, whether it's something that happened by
- 9:19mister Epstein, who's dead or another individual or individuals. That's
- 9:23what the FBI does, he said, Okay, I'd like to
- 9:26file a report that the FBI is covering this all up.
- 9:29Who do I speak to? Oh, that's right, nobody, the
- 9:33inspector General. Yeah, we can count on him. Maybe I
- 9:37can go to Congress. Oh yeah, we can count on them.
- 9:40So stubble the bullshit, please, special investigator, special counsel or bust.
- 9:46I don't want to hear anything else. I have never
- 9:50said that we're moving on, insisted Blanche, who this summer
- 9:53interviewed Epstein's accomplice Glenn Maxwell, in a sit down that
- 9:57was widely derided for questions that many felt were easy,
- 10:00except in relation to Trump's political opponents. There's a lot
- 10:04of people in this country that correctly feel that we
- 10:06did not get closure with Jeffrey Epstein. I couldn't agree
- 10:09with that more. Yeah, your actions tell us something different,
- 10:12Todd Baby Billy Blanche just another liar, just another deceiver,
- 10:18just another person running game. But game recognizes game stupid.
- 10:26And I'm not some jerk off from the suburbs. You're
- 10:29not gonna hustle me with your nonsense. And you're not
- 10:31gonna throw me off the scent. Two weeks prior to
- 10:37these comments, however, Blanche downplayed the controversy surrounding the DJ's
- 10:41handling of the files. While the Epstein Files Transparency Act
- 10:45mandated that the Justice Department released all investigative documents by
- 10:49December nineteenth, authority has repeatedly missed this deadline, and questions
- 10:54remained about whether documents purportedly withheld under lawful exemptions should
- 11:00actually be disclosed. And remember, it's not a crime. The
- 11:04party with mister Epstein another thing, Blanche said. Spencer Couvin
- 11:09of Gold Law, who also represented numerous Epstein victims, addressed
- 11:14Bondie's absence and Blanche's recent statements. These developments only underscore
- 11:18how fragile accountability becomes when those empower blurred the lines
- 11:22of advocacy and obligation. Couvin said, if the court finds
- 11:28willful non compliance, contempt isn't just appropriate, it's necessary to
- 11:33preserve the integrity of the process. As for mister Blanche,
- 11:36trust is earned through transparency and action, not titles or affiliation.
- 11:40Right now, for the victims, this feels less like progress
- 11:43and more like a standstill. Justice delayed yet again with
- 11:47too many questions and not enough answers. Anne olivieris a
- 11:52long time woman's rights attorney who founded the law firm McAllister.
- 11:56Olivarius said the Bondie subpoena doesn't evaporate because Pam Bondi
- 12:00was fired. She added, Bondy oversaw the handling or mishandling
- 12:05of these files and was the Attorney General when survivors
- 12:09identifying details were exposed. She owes Congress her testimony, and
- 12:14she owes these women an explanation if she refuses, contempt
- 12:18is entirely appropriate. Olivieris also said there's no reason to
- 12:23believe that Todd Blanche will be in a substantially different
- 12:26position than Bondi. The role of ag is now akin
- 12:29to a courier at a medieval court. Whatever power he
- 12:32wields must be to please the king. Todd Blanche has
- 12:36sent contradictory signals at extraordinary speed, and it's starting to
- 12:39feel like intentional strategic ambiguity, speaking the language of transparency
- 12:44while engineering its limits. What did I tell you about confusion?
- 12:48Way before any of this was cracking off, I warned
- 12:51everybody not the fall for it. They want to inundate
- 12:55you with information, they want to confuse you, and they
- 12:57want to cause chaos. Stay focused and stwnpoint. Olivier's pointed
- 13:04to the politics surrounding Epstein in relation to Trump, who
- 13:07was among Epstein's many rich and powerful associates. Trump said
- 13:11he and Epstein had falling out prior to Epstein's conviction
- 13:14on state level prostitution counts in Florida. The Epstein controversy
- 13:19is shadowed Trump's presidency for more than a year. Trump
- 13:22vowed on the campaign trail that he would release the files,
- 13:25ramping up his far right fan base who believed the
- 13:28Epstein was part of an elite global cabal that traffic girls.
- 13:33Was he not? Was that not true? Oh? It was right.
- 13:38So maybe just maybe instead of trying to deride people
- 13:41as far right, maybe you just stop with the language
- 13:44for a little while. How about that, Victoria might be
- 13:47a good idea, considering that a lot of people that
- 13:49have been interested in this story are anything but far
- 13:53right people. There's a lot of people that understand the
- 13:58injustice that occurred here, and I don't care what your
- 14:01political stripes are. There's people that actually have a moral
- 14:05code and when that code's broken, and when shit like
- 14:10this happens, it doesn't matter what party the person belongs to.
- 14:14All that matters is justice. Trump's Justice Department backtracked on
- 14:22releasing files prior to the efta's passage, however, prompting extensive criticism.
- 14:27A July DOJ memo claiming that there was no client
- 14:30list and that there was no evidence that could predicate
- 14:33an investigation against uncharged third parties ultimately set the stage
- 14:38for congressional action. I expect a defensive approach that follows
- 14:43what the law strictly requires, not what Justice demands. Olivieris
- 14:47said of DOJ's future treatment of the files, however, he
- 14:50blanched will not be operating in a vacuum, and congressional
- 14:54oversight will be critical. Bipartisan pressure is real and growing,
- 14:58and the House Oversight Committee plan to call co conspirators
- 15:01to testify is significant here. I don't buy it. Sorry,
- 15:06I don't buy it. The fact that they're backtracking on
- 15:10the BONDI subpoena tells us everything we need to know
- 15:13about the GOP. Members of the committee. Nima Rockmani, founder
- 15:17of the West Coast Trial Lawyers and a former federal
- 15:20prosecutor said he did not expect much would change at
- 15:23the Justice Department under Blanche. Blanche doesn't look like he's
- 15:26going to move the needle, Rockmanni said, noting that he's
- 15:29done a lot of talking for Bondie on this. At
- 15:32this point, Rockmanni said lawmakers are likely the best bet
- 15:36in getting accountability by using courts to enforce legal demands.
- 15:40I think it's really a job for Congress, Rockmanny said.
- 15:43I really think the House Oversight Committee should file a lawsuit,
- 15:46get a district judge involved, have him or her review
- 15:49the documents and camera outside the presence of the public
- 15:52to see what is being withheld on the basis of
- 15:55responsiveness or privilege is appropriate, he said, of the files withheld,
- 16:00That's what a judge is there to do. We really
- 16:02need Congress to challenge the DOJ, and I don't see
- 16:06that happening yet. And that's the biggest problem. These windbags
- 16:09have done a lot of talking, they've done no walking.
- 16:14Ask for comment about Blanche's plans on future handling of
- 16:17the Epstein files, Justice Department spokesperson said his comments speak
- 16:21for themselves. Oh, they will certainly do so. That means
- 16:25he's not going to do anything. Got it. As for comment,
- 16:28the White House said, just as President Trump has said,
- 16:31he's been totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein, and
- 16:35by releasing thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the
- 16:39House Oversight Committee subpoena request, signing the Epstein File Transparency Act,
- 16:44and calling for more investigations into Epstein's Democrat friends, President
- 16:48Trump has done more for Epstein victims than anyone before him. Yeah, bro,
- 16:52and Paul Pott was great for Cambodia, it added, the
- 16:58DOJ repeatedly being clear they encourage any victim of Jeffrey
- 17:02Epstein who wished to speak to contact the FBI, and
- 17:05any survivor who has information on an abuser is encouraged
- 17:08to contact federal law enforcement. Yeah, because that's worked out
- 17:12so well in the past, and there's so much confidence
- 17:14that the FEDS are going to do their job and
- 17:17make sure everything turns out right this time, because remember,
- 17:20they're the most transparent administration in the history of the country.
