- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus at the ten yard lives. Second to day
- 0:08Speaker 1: three wide receivers. Now in motion is Puppas left to right,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pupfeck's looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: gold line. He throws it into the endzone. Touchdown, Saint Hawks.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and the kid
- 0:26Speaker 1: out of Washington State has found himself a place on
- 0:29Speaker 1: this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome to Hawk
- 0:34Speaker 1: Talk Preview Edition Week seven. I'm Michael Bumps along with
- 0:37Speaker 1: Nasa Chobe. The Seahawks take on the New Orleans Saints
- 0:40Speaker 1: on Monday Night football. Speaking of the Saints, let's talk
- 0:45Speaker 1: about what's on tap? What's on tapp? What is on tap?
- 0:53Speaker 1: The Hawks are trying to bounce back from a disappointing
- 0:57Speaker 1: loss in New Orleans. Saints are three and two. They win,
- 1:00Speaker 1: they lose, they win, they lose, and they win their
- 1:02Speaker 1: last winners against the Washington football team. They were lost
- 1:05Speaker 1: excoosebe one thirty three to twenty two. The Saints are
- 1:08Speaker 1: coming off a buy and are well rested. We should
- 1:11Speaker 1: expect a big game from these guys on Monday Night.
- 1:13Speaker 1: They know what the deal is. They started off the
- 1:16Speaker 1: season with an impressive win against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers,
- 1:19Speaker 1: but some shady losses, lose to the Panthers and the Giants.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I don't know what to think about this football team
- 1:26Speaker 1: right now. You got Jamis Winston who's having an old
- 1:29Speaker 1: ka season. A last game he was fifteen to thirty
- 1:31Speaker 1: two y seventy nine yards, four touchdowns, one interception. But
- 1:34Speaker 1: he's also shown that he can look really mediocre. Nask
- 1:37Speaker 1: these Saints. You gotta take him seriously. You take every
- 1:39Speaker 1: opponent seriously. What are your thoughts on these Saints? Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you hit the nail on the head. It's hard. It's
- 1:44Speaker 1: hard to decide because I mean, they come out and
- 1:46Speaker 1: they smack Aaron Rodgers and the Packers thirty eight to three.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Put a beat down on him. He had everyone concerned
- 1:51Speaker 1: that all the time they Aaron Rodgers missed is affecting
- 1:54Speaker 1: his team and the Packers are gonna go into the tank.
- 1:56Speaker 1: That was not the case because the Packers have looked
- 1:58Speaker 1: great since that game. And then the Saints followed that
- 2:00Speaker 1: up with a twenty six to seven beat down at
- 2:02Speaker 1: the hands of the Carolina Panthers, who have been up
- 2:04Speaker 1: and down as well this year. So, you know, another
- 2:07Speaker 1: win against the Patriots. Patriots an okay football team, and
- 2:10Speaker 1: then they collapsed against the Giants. I mean they've been
- 2:12Speaker 1: their defenses played really well this year, their secondaries played well,
- 2:15Speaker 1: but they kind of fell apart against the Giants. And
- 2:17Speaker 1: then they get a win over Washington, Who's another team
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm not really sure what to think of. You know,
- 2:21Speaker 1: they've had some injuries at the quarterback position. Um, so yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 1: they're they're they're a hard team to really get a
- 2:26Speaker 1: beat on. But what I do know is they do
- 2:28Speaker 1: some things. Well you mentioned it. Jameis Winston had four
- 2:31Speaker 1: touchdowns last week. Is playing much better football than we've
- 2:33Speaker 1: seen him play as of late. Um. Yeah, in the
- 2:37Speaker 1: game against the Saints or yeah, excuse me, game against
- 2:39Speaker 1: the Washington football team, it was kind of a close game.
- 2:41Speaker 1: It was tied thirteen thirteen and a half time, aided
- 2:44Speaker 1: by a Hail Mary um by the Saints, And we
- 2:47Speaker 1: talked about a little bit before the podcast started to
- 2:49Speaker 1: bump that was criminal um. The Washington football team could
- 2:52Speaker 1: not have played that any worse than they did all that,
- 2:54Speaker 1: which was a huge play which the sin The Saints
- 2:57Speaker 1: went up seven and a halftime, traded some scores in
- 2:59Speaker 1: the four quarter, and then Alvin Kamara sealed the game
- 3:02Speaker 1: with a nineteen yard touchdown pass from Winston, capping in
- 3:05Speaker 1: eight play seventy five yard drive. Kamara is one of
- 3:08Speaker 1: the guys will spent a lot of time talking about today.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Had one hundred and twenty two total yards and two touchdowns.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Marquez Kalaway led the Saints and receiving with four receptions
- 3:16Speaker 1: and eighty five yards, and I've said thirty two touchdowns.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna say two touchdowns because that would
- 3:21Speaker 1: be in a lot in one game. But bum. The
- 3:24Speaker 1: thing that scares you about the Saints is the Seahawks
- 3:26Speaker 1: might be playing him at the wrong time of the year. Man.
- 3:28Speaker 1: They survived the first five weeks. I've actually going three
- 3:30Speaker 1: and two alternative wins, but they're missing eight starters. For
- 3:33Speaker 1: most of the season, they were missing top receiver Michael Thomas,
- 3:37Speaker 1: tree Kwon Smith, left tackle to Ron Armstead, center Eric McCoy,
- 3:41Speaker 1: defensive tackle David On Yamada defensive end Marcus Davenport, linebacker
- 3:45Speaker 1: kawand Alexander and their kicker Will let So combined, that
- 3:49Speaker 1: group has a total of three All pros, eight Pro
- 3:51Speaker 1: Bowl selections, and three hundred and fifty five games started
- 3:54Speaker 1: including the playoffs, and this year they've appeared in a
- 3:57Speaker 1: grand total of six games. So goodneas for Saint said,
- 4:01Speaker 1: a lot of these guys have the chance to return
- 4:03Speaker 1: this week coming off a bye week, many of them
- 4:05Speaker 1: for this game against the Seahawks, So not great news obviously,
- 4:08Speaker 1: will follow that injury port and see how things go.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But bump, this could be a really hard game for
- 4:13Speaker 1: the Seahawks as the Saints looked to be getting healthy
- 4:15Speaker 1: at the wrong time. It sounds like it. You mentioned
- 4:17Speaker 1: what six to eight guys who have not been I
- 4:20Speaker 1: guess contributing to this football team, and they allowed themselves
- 4:23Speaker 1: to survive. Right, That's all you want to do when
- 4:24Speaker 1: you're missing these guys, is surviving. Three and two is
- 4:27Speaker 1: a team that is surviving. You got Jamis Whiston who's
- 4:30Speaker 1: playing okay football man. I'm kind of impressed by what
- 4:32Speaker 1: he's done so far. He hasn't won a lot of games,
- 4:34Speaker 1: but He's not lost a lot of games for this
- 4:36Speaker 1: ball club either. It's all about the health man. We're
- 4:39Speaker 1: getting into what what is this week seven? Get into
- 4:40Speaker 1: Weeks seven? Teams are banged up, they are getting healthy.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Let's look at this head to head matchup, all right, Offensively,
- 4:47Speaker 1: these teams are both kind of struggling. I wouldn't say
- 4:49Speaker 1: struggling right. The Hawks. I feel like they're finding who
- 4:53Speaker 1: they are and who they want to be, which is
- 4:55Speaker 1: a running football team. We saw that last week with
- 4:57Speaker 1: Alice Collins and Gino Smith. But pensically, they're ranked twenty
- 5:01Speaker 1: second in the league. The Saints are ranked twenty eight,
- 5:03Speaker 1: the Hawks ring sixteenth. When it comes to running the rock,
- 5:05Speaker 1: averaging one hundred and ten yards, the Saints are ringd ninth,
- 5:08Speaker 1: averaging one hundred and twenty eight yards pass offense, Hawks
- 5:12Speaker 1: are twenty two. The Saints are thirty one points per game.
- 5:15Speaker 1: The Hawks are averaging twenty three points per game. That's eighteen,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and the Saints are averaging twenty five points per game.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That makes them ten. Again, we always say these numbers
- 5:25Speaker 1: and kind of fool you a little bit, But in
- 5:28Speaker 1: this case, I feel like these guys are who they
- 5:30Speaker 1: are right. They're they're teams who are, for the Hawks case,
- 5:33Speaker 1: trying to figure out, Okay, did we want to run?
- 5:35Speaker 1: Did we want to pass? And with the Saints, because
- 5:38Speaker 1: of Jamis Woodson at the quarterback position and him playing
- 5:42Speaker 1: well than not playing, they playing mediocre some other weeks,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I feel like of all the weeks, these numbers are
- 5:47Speaker 1: as true as they've ever been offensively. Yeah, I think
- 5:50Speaker 1: you're correct right in that, Bob. I think you mentioned
- 5:52Speaker 1: the Seahawks are trying to find their identity. They've been
- 5:54Speaker 1: in play a big play team over the last couple
- 5:56Speaker 1: of years. You know, with Chris Carson getting hurt last year,
- 5:59Speaker 1: the rushing numbers weren't where a Pete Carroll team normally
- 6:01Speaker 1: is or where they'd want it to be. And obviously
- 6:04Speaker 1: you lose Russell Wilson who missed the last essentially last
- 6:06Speaker 1: five quarters for the Seahawks, and they're kind of in
- 6:09Speaker 1: the middle of the pack right now. I think we
- 6:11Speaker 1: saw them kind of turn a page in the second half.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Of what they think they can be is running the football.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We're in the football, We're in the football, play action,
- 6:17Speaker 1: go over the top. Some of the things that we've
- 6:19Speaker 1: seen them be super successful with But yeah, that's about
- 6:21Speaker 1: where they're at. I think some of these numbers can
- 6:23Speaker 1: trend upward, especially as the Seahawks try to establish that
- 6:26Speaker 1: run and as Geno Smith gets even more comfortable with
- 6:29Speaker 1: another game under his belt. So yeah, I think it's
- 6:31Speaker 1: I think it's spot on. And for the Saints, they're
- 6:34Speaker 1: gonna they're gonna try to run the ball. They got
- 6:36Speaker 1: a great back in Kamara, they got some weapons on offense,
- 6:39Speaker 1: and with Jamis right now, I think they're not They're
- 6:42Speaker 1: telling him, hey, man, play within yourself. Don't try to
- 6:44Speaker 1: be too crazy because when you do that, you turn
- 6:46Speaker 1: the ball over. So yeah, I think they're about spot on.
- 6:49Speaker 1: When it comes to defense, man, we're looking at two
- 6:51Speaker 1: different defenses. In terms of the numbers, Seahawks are still
- 6:55Speaker 1: last in the league, giving him four hundred and thirty
- 6:57Speaker 1: three yards a game run defense or giving up a
- 6:59Speaker 1: hundred forty in the ground thirtieth past defense, two hundred
- 7:02Speaker 1: ninety two through the air twenty eighth, allowing twenty four
- 7:05Speaker 1: points a game. That's twentieth in the league. On the
- 7:07Speaker 1: flip side, the Saints, they're fifteenth in the league when
- 7:10Speaker 1: it comes to the total yards allowed through giving up
- 7:12Speaker 1: three hundred and fifty four game run defense. They're one
- 7:14Speaker 1: of the best in the league, which is gonna be
- 7:16Speaker 1: huge thing to look forward. They are allowing only seventy
- 7:19Speaker 1: nine yards on the ground the summer two in the league.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Past defense, they're glow average, given up two hundred and
- 7:24Speaker 1: seventy five through the air, ranked twenty third in the league.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And then points aloud. They're only giving up eighteen points
- 7:29Speaker 1: a game, which is third in the NFL. So the
- 7:31Speaker 1: Saints are kind of who they've played kind of consistently
- 7:34Speaker 1: throughout the season. The Seahawks are starting to trend in
- 7:37Speaker 1: the right direction right. I think last Sunday Night was
- 7:42Speaker 1: the closest we've seen them to putting four quarters together
- 7:45Speaker 1: of solid defense more than we have seen. We saw
- 7:47Speaker 1: them play a half against the Rams, we see him
- 7:49Speaker 1: play half against the Titans, a half against the forty
- 7:51Speaker 1: nine ers. So I think they're trending in the right direction.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I think they can build off some of the stuff
- 7:55Speaker 1: we saw last week bump and they're definitely going to
- 7:58Speaker 1: be The Seahawks will have their handsful of the Saints defense.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It is going to be a tough one regardless of
- 8:03Speaker 1: who they play. Let's get to know these teams and
- 8:04Speaker 1: all your history. No, your history, all right, these teams
- 8:09Speaker 1: have played a decent amount of time over the years.
- 8:12Speaker 1: The Saints lead or it's the all time series is
- 8:15Speaker 1: tied at eight to eight. The Saints lead the regular
- 8:17Speaker 1: season series six and eight record in. The Seahawks lead
- 8:20Speaker 1: the postseason series, going two and ozer with one pretty
- 8:23Speaker 1: memorable game known as a Beast Quake. I think all
- 8:25Speaker 1: Seahawks fans remember that one. The last time these two
- 8:28Speaker 1: teams matched up is in twenty nineteen. The Seahawks fell
- 8:31Speaker 1: with the Saints thirty three to twenty seven in Week
- 8:33Speaker 1: three at Looming Field, and honestly, the final score in
- 8:36Speaker 1: that ball game was a lot closer or than the
- 8:38Speaker 1: game really was. The Seahawks were just doomed with self
- 8:41Speaker 1: inflicted mistakes. The Saints returning Chris Carson fumblefore touchdown, also
- 8:46Speaker 1: a lot of punt return touchdown. The Seahawks kind of
- 8:48Speaker 1: mismanaged a clock down the stretch, were unable to cash
- 8:51Speaker 1: in on what should have been a field goal attempt.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Couldn't get that done. Russell Wilson did have a big day.
- 8:55Speaker 1: He won thirty two to fifty do the ball fifty times,
- 8:58Speaker 1: which is a lot or in the six yards two touchdowns,
- 9:01Speaker 1: ran for two more. Locket led all receivers eleven reception
- 9:04Speaker 1: one hundred fifty or four yards in a touchdown often
- 9:07Speaker 1: kamaraw I told you we're gonna talk about him throughout
- 9:09Speaker 1: this podcast. He was a problem that day in one
- 9:11Speaker 1: hundred and sixty one yards and two touchdowns. Really tough
- 9:14Speaker 1: to tackle. Teddy Bridgewater came back made his return. So yeah, No.
- 9:18Speaker 1: The last time these two teams played, the Saints kind
- 9:20Speaker 1: of took it to the Seahawks and they were They
- 9:22Speaker 1: showed you know, when you score on defense, when you're
- 9:25Speaker 1: scoring special teams, it's really hard to win a football game.
- 9:27Speaker 1: So we hope that fortune changes for the Seahawks and
- 9:31Speaker 1: bump Man. As we do every week, we take a
- 9:34Speaker 1: look around the NFCUS what's the word and the Seahawks
- 9:41Speaker 1: where the NFC West champs again, what's the word? In
- 9:45Speaker 1: the west On Hawk talk? Arizona Cardinals still sitting at
- 9:51Speaker 1: the top of the Division six and know the Rams
- 9:53Speaker 1: were behind him at five and one. San Francisco is
- 9:55Speaker 1: at two and three in the Hawks are at the
- 9:57Speaker 1: bottom looking up at two and four. Now when it
- 10:00Speaker 1: comes to the Cardinals, they're for real. We can stop
- 10:02Speaker 1: asking that question now. And the Cardinals took on a
- 10:05Speaker 1: solid Cleveland Browns team on the road and beat them
- 10:07Speaker 1: thirty seven to twenty four. Seven of the Browns points
- 10:10Speaker 1: came on a hell Mary that me and Naske were
- 10:11Speaker 1: looking at before we hopped on the podcast, and it
- 10:14Speaker 1: was ridiculous. This is not something that you teach. Whoever
- 10:17Speaker 1: that defensive coach secondary coaches, he's got some work to do.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Kyla Murray did his thing twenty and thirty two hundred
- 10:23Speaker 1: twenty nine yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions. He fumbled the
- 10:26Speaker 1: ball four times, but recovered all four of them. Aj
- 10:29Speaker 1: Green had a day five receptions seventy nine yards, one touchdown.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Christen Kirk had five receptions seventy five yards in the touchdown.
- 10:36Speaker 1: DeAndre Hopkins had three receptions fifty five yards and two touchdowns.
- 10:40Speaker 1: One of his touchdowns were nasty ran after the catch
- 10:42Speaker 1: on the ten yard line, making guys miss man who
- 10:44Speaker 1: was beautiful. James Connor led all rushes with sixteen carres
- 10:48Speaker 1: seventy one yards, and Carlinals didn't put up huge numbers offensively.
- 10:51Speaker 1: The main difference in the game was e turnovers. The
- 10:53Speaker 1: Browns turned the ball over three times and the Cardinals didn't,
- 10:56Speaker 1: despite Kyler Murray fumbling four times. The Browns also were
- 10:59Speaker 1: three for ten on third down and one for four
- 11:01Speaker 1: on four of them. The most impressive thing about the
- 11:04Speaker 1: Cardinals was they did it without their head coach Cliff
- 11:08Speaker 1: Kingsbury and linebacker Challenge Jones, who tested posits for COVID.
- 11:12Speaker 1: These guys said, look, no, Maddy, y'all stay at home.
- 11:14Speaker 1: We're gonna handle business, don't you trip. These Cardinals are
- 11:17Speaker 1: for real. Let's stop asking these questions. You gotta put
- 11:20Speaker 1: some respect on their name. They're proving it every single week. Yeah, no,
- 11:24Speaker 1: no question about that. And the Nott sad thing. The
- 11:26Speaker 1: tough thing about that for the Seahawks is you still
- 11:28Speaker 1: got to play them twice, so those games are gonna
- 11:31Speaker 1: be scary looking otherwise. And then NFC West to Saint
- 11:35Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, I heard it earlier because I was
- 11:37Speaker 1: listening to the radio. I almost said, Saint Louis, I
- 11:38Speaker 1: haven't done that first so long. I've not done that
- 11:41Speaker 1: for so long. I was listening to Hasselback on the
- 11:42Speaker 1: radio this morning, and he was talking about his old time.
- 11:45Speaker 1: So I somehow they got crept into my head, the
- 11:47Speaker 1: Los Angeles Rams. I have to put my fine jar
- 11:50Speaker 1: for that. They came out and they put a whooping
- 11:52Speaker 1: on these New York Giants. Man beat them thirty eight
- 11:55Speaker 1: to eleven. They were up thirty eight to three before
- 11:57Speaker 1: the Giants scored to garbage time to touchdown in the
- 11:59Speaker 1: fourth quarter. Matthew Stafford won twenty two of twenty eight
- 12:02Speaker 1: for two hundred and fifty one yards or touchdown, win, interception,
- 12:05Speaker 1: and Bump's favorite player, Cooper cup Well. Looper cup things
- 12:09Speaker 1: nine receptions, one hundred and thirty yards and two touchdowns.
- 12:12Speaker 1: One of them was a nasty no look pass, Bump,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I know you saw that. Yeah, man, you know what
- 12:18Speaker 1: messed up is If Patrick Mahomes did it, it it would
- 12:20Speaker 1: have been everywhere. But Matthew Stafford did it, and it
- 12:23Speaker 1: was I want to say it was cleaner than Yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I've seen Pat Malomes no looks. That was and that
- 12:28Speaker 1: was his insult to injury. They already whoping him too.
- 12:30Speaker 1: We didn't need to see that, but they did it
- 12:32Speaker 1: to him anyway. Darryl Henderson twenty one carries seventy yards
- 12:35Speaker 1: in a tud Giants turn the ball for four times,
- 12:38Speaker 1: were four fifteen on third downs. Tough to win that way.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Game was put away in the second quarter in the
- 12:42Speaker 1: Rams scored twenty eight unanswered points in route to the
- 12:45Speaker 1: easy victory. They really scored thirty eight unanswered before the
- 12:47Speaker 1: Giants had come back. So again, this NFC West is tough.
- 12:51Speaker 1: You have two teams playing really well. You've already seen
- 12:53Speaker 1: the Rams. Unfortunately he came up short against them. Two
- 12:55Speaker 1: against the Cardinals, the Niners had a bye week class week.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Looks like they're gonna get Jimmy Garoppolo back at quarterback,
- 13:00Speaker 1: especially as Trey Lance is also dealing with a knee.
- 13:03Speaker 1: But Man Seahawks have the work cut out for him.
- 13:05Speaker 1: It's hard to believe that just through six games and
- 13:08Speaker 1: Seahawks already four back in the lost column, dead lasting
- 13:11Speaker 1: division and have really reached a critical point in the season.
- 13:15Speaker 1: But because of that, it sounds like a great time
- 13:17Speaker 1: for him to turn it around. Let's look at these
- 13:19Speaker 1: matchups in man up. Who is this mass man up
- 13:29Speaker 1: on Hawk Talk Time to man up Jamis Winston versus
- 13:35Speaker 1: Seahawks defense. This is not the thirty for thirty Jamis
- 13:38Speaker 1: Winston the week, come accustomed to see, no, sir. He
- 13:41Speaker 1: is seventy four one hundred and sixteen for eight hundred
- 13:44Speaker 1: and ninety two yards, twelve touchdowns, three interceptions. He's been
- 13:47Speaker 1: said nine times and have the QB rating of one
- 13:50Speaker 1: oh eight point one. Twenty carries for eighty six yards
- 13:53Speaker 1: and one touchdown. Jamis Winston's has had a really interesting
- 13:57Speaker 1: start to his career and his seven He's been in
- 13:59Speaker 1: league seven years. Yeah, how crazy's that? Seven years in
- 14:03Speaker 1: the league he's passed for twenty thousand yards and thrown
- 14:06Speaker 1: for one hundred and thirty three touchdowns. All right, he
- 14:09Speaker 1: has three years where he's thrown the ball for over
- 14:11Speaker 1: four thousand yards. Russell Wilson has only thrown for over
- 14:14Speaker 1: four thousand yards four times in his career. In twenty nineteen,
- 14:18Speaker 1: Jamie stew for five thousand, one hundred nine yards and
- 14:20Speaker 1: thirty three touchdowns. But he's also got that thirty interception
- 14:24Speaker 1: thing going. That's why we call him mister thirty. For
- 14:26Speaker 1: thirty in his career, he has thrown ninety one interceptions
- 14:30Speaker 1: in just eighty one games plays, So we can almost
- 14:33Speaker 1: guarantee that this guy is going to throw in interceptions.
- 14:36Speaker 1: For context, Russell Wilson has thrown eighty two in one
- 14:39Speaker 1: hundred forty nine games in twenty twenty one. He's doing
- 14:43Speaker 1: he's doing a much better job taking care of the fullball. However,
- 14:45Speaker 1: the New Orleans they ring towards the bottom when it
- 14:48Speaker 1: comes to pass and categories. All right, there ring thirty
- 14:50Speaker 1: second NFL and both completions and attempts thirty first and
- 14:53Speaker 1: net passing twenty ninth in completion percentage. So he's having
- 14:57Speaker 1: a better season, but he's not lighten it up. So
- 15:01Speaker 1: we need this secondary to do what they've been doing,
- 15:04Speaker 1: which is steadily improving, right, steadily improved. Forced jamis to
- 15:08Speaker 1: throw a pick because stats say that he's going to
- 15:11Speaker 1: throw a pick this game, and just take advantage of him. Yeah,
- 15:13Speaker 1: no question about it. You mentioned it. He is playing better.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I think Sean. I think he's jelling in that Sean
- 15:18Speaker 1: Payton offense. He had a year to kind of learn
- 15:19Speaker 1: the system under Drew Reeves. Now he's the one playing
- 15:22Speaker 1: twelve touchdown three interceptions. That's the best touchdown interception ratio
- 15:25Speaker 1: he's had in his career by far. But as you
- 15:28Speaker 1: mentioned it, he can still throw you the football I
- 15:30Speaker 1: was looking at a play in their last game against
- 15:33Speaker 1: the Washington football team and bump, it's it's empty, right,
- 15:36Speaker 1: they're balls on the left hash. If I'm on the offense,
- 15:40Speaker 1: three receivers to the right, two receivers to the left,
- 15:43Speaker 1: and they just run four verds right. The two outside
- 15:45Speaker 1: guys run nine routes. Number two receiver on the field
- 15:48Speaker 1: side runs a go number three receivers, Taysom Hill, and
- 15:51Speaker 1: he runs kind of a bend because the Washington football
- 15:55Speaker 1: team is gonna cover three defense right and he runs
- 15:57Speaker 1: a bend route, which is a tough, tough thing to do,
- 15:59Speaker 1: and cover three. You put that safety in and buying
- 16:01Speaker 1: is he gonna lean a number twosing lean a number three? Well,
- 16:04Speaker 1: the safety completely turns his hips and commits to the
- 16:06Speaker 1: number two receiver on the field side, So Jamis, they're
- 16:09Speaker 1: starting to have pressure coming down by his feet, but
- 16:12Speaker 1: he has a touchdown if he's Taysom Hill and the
- 16:15Speaker 1: only person in the area is the middle linebacker, who's
- 16:17Speaker 1: the only person that can help on that ben route
- 16:19Speaker 1: because the corners locked up on the backside and he's
- 16:22Speaker 1: beat by him, but he reads James's eyes. Jamis does
- 16:24Speaker 1: not put nearly enough air underneath it, it gets intercepted.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So it's plays like that where if if he gets
- 16:30Speaker 1: it over the linebacker, it's a touchdown, no one, no
- 16:32Speaker 1: one's catching him. So it's things like that that Jamis
- 16:36Speaker 1: has still doing at times. Even though he only has
- 16:38Speaker 1: the three interceptions on the ear that was one of him,
- 16:40Speaker 1: He's still prone to doing these things. So how did
- 16:42Speaker 1: the Seahawks can bat that defenseively? You mentioned it, the secondary,
- 16:46Speaker 1: the corners, they're playing well. Dj Reid was getting his
- 16:48Speaker 1: hands on footballs last week Trey Brown, which I'm really
- 16:51Speaker 1: excited to see what he can do this week. So
- 16:54Speaker 1: jamis playing better, but he's still prone to turn the
- 16:57Speaker 1: football over, and the Seahawks defense will need to cast
- 17:00Speaker 1: some turnovers if they're going to improve and beat these
- 17:02Speaker 1: guys on Monday Night in twenty twenty one. So far,
- 17:05Speaker 1: the Seahawks defense against India allowed three hundred thirty six
- 17:08Speaker 1: yards against Tennessee five hundred thirty two, Minnesota four fifty three,
- 17:12Speaker 1: San Fan four fifty seven, LA four seventy six in
- 17:16Speaker 1: Pittsburgh three forty five. It's time to switch that up
- 17:20Speaker 1: all right. Next matchup Gino Verse, the Saints defense last
- 17:24Speaker 1: week against the Steelers, Gino went to twenty three of
- 17:27Speaker 1: thirty two or two hundred nine yards, one touchdown, one fumble,
- 17:29Speaker 1: and was sacked five times. Now he engineered three straight
- 17:32Speaker 1: scoring drive in the second half. One of them was
- 17:34Speaker 1: a nine and play fifty yard drive that allowed the
- 17:36Speaker 1: Seahawks to tie the game in regulations. Now he's got
- 17:40Speaker 1: some bad luck. Last two games he's been in, the
- 17:43Speaker 1: games have ended in a turnover. One was a fumble
- 17:46Speaker 1: caused by what the other was an interception. He was
- 17:48Speaker 1: trying to throw the title locket. Lockett got tripped up.
- 17:51Speaker 1: But it is what it is. He's played well enough
- 17:54Speaker 1: to keep them in the game, but now it's time
- 17:56Speaker 1: to take care of the football late in the game.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Yeah about it. If you know it's you mentioned it.
- 18:02Speaker 1: It's just tough that that the games have finished like
- 18:05Speaker 1: that because we know he's played better than those last
- 18:07Speaker 1: plays indicate. And he's not gonna be easy on Sunday
- 18:10Speaker 1: or Monday. And excuse me. He's got another good defense
- 18:12Speaker 1: with the Saints. We mentioned it, third and scoring defense,
- 18:15Speaker 1: fifteenth in yards per game, twenty third against the past,
- 18:18Speaker 1: but their number one in red zone defense allowing touchdowns
- 18:21Speaker 1: on just five or fourteen possessions. Something's got to give
- 18:23Speaker 1: because the Seahawks are actually very good at that. Their
- 18:25Speaker 1: fourth in the league in red zone. So Geno Man,
- 18:29Speaker 1: as long as you take care of the football, gets
- 18:31Speaker 1: him help with the running backs, I think he can
- 18:32Speaker 1: get it done. We've seen enough from him. We've seen
- 18:34Speaker 1: the mobility, We've seen good decision making from the most part.
- 18:37Speaker 1: So excited to see what Gino Smith can bring on
- 18:40Speaker 1: Sunday now. Bub next matchup, Dwayne Brown Cam Jordan. Cam
- 18:44Speaker 1: Jordan has been a problem in this league for a
- 18:46Speaker 1: long time. Over his career, He's got five hundred thirty
- 18:49Speaker 1: two tackles, ninety four sacks, eleven forced fumbles, ten fumble
- 18:52Speaker 1: more coveries, fifty two bass defended, has never missed a
- 18:55Speaker 1: regular season game in ten years, which is insane for
- 18:58Speaker 1: that position. He's got eighteen tackles, two passes defended. Now,
- 19:03Speaker 1: the Saints, while they have a great defense, they're not
- 19:05Speaker 1: really getting after the quarterback bump. They've only had eight
- 19:07Speaker 1: sacks this season. The Seahawks didn't have a great game
- 19:11Speaker 1: in the sack department last week, given up five, which
- 19:14Speaker 1: was a season high. So I think, honestly right now.
- 19:17Speaker 1: The tone will be set with Dayne Brown and his
- 19:19Speaker 1: offensive line. Absolutely. I think Dwayne needs have a big game.
- 19:22Speaker 1: The offensive line needs to have a big game and
- 19:23Speaker 1: protect Gino and get this running game going. Let's go
- 19:26Speaker 1: old line. Let's attack that defensive line when it comes
- 19:29Speaker 1: to running the ball and protect Geno Smith. Next matchup
- 19:32Speaker 1: DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett versus Saints. Secondary of the
- 19:35Speaker 1: secondary for the Saints has been balling. They have nine
- 19:38Speaker 1: interceptions on this season already. They also have a great
- 19:42Speaker 1: player in the secondary, Monshawn Lattimore. He's been balling out.
- 19:45Speaker 1: He's signed a five year, ninety seven million dollars dear
- 19:47Speaker 1: last month, and despite having thumb surgery in Week two
- 19:50Speaker 1: and playing with the cast on his right hand the
- 19:52Speaker 1: past three games, he's still doing his thing. Lattimore was
- 19:55Speaker 1: named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week
- 19:57Speaker 1: five after locking down Washington Football team wider even Terry
- 20:00Speaker 1: McLaren in the thirty three to twenty two win and
- 20:04Speaker 1: recording a career high six passes defended. You know why
- 20:07Speaker 1: they weren't picks. He's got that castle on his hand,
- 20:09Speaker 1: so he can't he can't. Rather row he's gonna defend
- 20:11Speaker 1: the heck out of That's tied for the most by
- 20:13Speaker 1: any NFL player in the past fifteen years, according to
- 20:16Speaker 1: ESPN Stats and Information. Latimer in twenty twenty one sixteen tackles,
- 20:20Speaker 1: nine passes defended, six were the other week one interception
- 20:23Speaker 1: rookie third round pick Halston a devil? Did I say
- 20:27Speaker 1: that right? Sure, I'm opening to a devil. Sure, let's
- 20:30Speaker 1: go with them. And that's held down the other corner
- 20:32Speaker 1: spot and to side for the team lead with two interceptions. Also,
- 20:35Speaker 1: Malcolm Jakeson's over there. Let's proven he can still play.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Thirty four tackles, one tackle for laws, two passes defended,
- 20:40Speaker 1: one interception. Yeah. Man, these pick get after the football.
- 20:43Speaker 1: They get after the football, and which almost makes you
- 20:46Speaker 1: feel like the Seahawks are more need for them to
- 20:49Speaker 1: run the football. But you have these, you still have
- 20:51Speaker 1: Dkmcaff and tire Locket Decon Macaff thirty eight receptions, four
- 20:54Speaker 1: hundred and forty one yards, five touchdowns, tire Locket twenty
- 20:57Speaker 1: seven receptions, four hundred twenty five yards and three touchdowns.
- 21:01Speaker 1: And that's after having two hundred and seventy yards in
- 21:03Speaker 1: the first two games. You know, he's only he hasn't
- 21:06Speaker 1: had a game since since we two Lockett has not
- 21:08Speaker 1: had a game with more than fifty seven yards. So
- 21:10Speaker 1: I'm definitely looking to see sixteen get a little bit
- 21:12Speaker 1: more involved in the past game almost passing downs. Time
- 21:15Speaker 1: to get sixteen involved. Another matchup Alvin Kamara verse the
- 21:18Speaker 1: Seahawks front seven. Alvin has ninety four carries, three hand
- 21:22Speaker 1: to sixty eight yards and one touchdown, fifteen receptions for
- 21:25Speaker 1: one hundred and thirteen yards three touchdowns. And we saw
- 21:28Speaker 1: last time they heard twenty twenty nineteen, he's one of
- 21:31Speaker 1: the hardest guys to tackle them like he's slippery, and
- 21:34Speaker 1: he's slippery or when wet out there. It was raining
- 21:36Speaker 1: the last time they played Alan loomanfield and you just
- 21:39Speaker 1: couldn't bring this guy down. Man. You can't just strow
- 21:42Speaker 1: his shoulder at him. You gotta wrap him up. Jamal
- 21:45Speaker 1: wrapped that Judeo go for those big hits. Take him
- 21:47Speaker 1: down and he's dangerous. He can receive the ball, he
- 21:49Speaker 1: can run out the backfield. He's kind of what everybody's
- 21:52Speaker 1: looking for at the running back position. Yeah, no question,
- 21:55Speaker 1: He's a terrific athlete and the Seahawks are near the
- 21:57Speaker 1: bottom of the league, allowing one hundred and forty yards
- 21:59Speaker 1: for games, so they're gonna have their hands full without question,
- 22:03Speaker 1: because that dude is special. He's special special and the bumped.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Last matchup I want to look at, or one of
- 22:08Speaker 1: the last matchups is the Seahawks running backs and versus
- 22:10Speaker 1: Saints front seven. So the Saints are number two in
- 22:13Speaker 1: the league, only given up seventy nine yards per game
- 22:16Speaker 1: alloud forty three to Green Bay, eighty nine to Carolina,
- 22:19Speaker 1: forty nine to New England, eighty three to New York,
- 22:21Speaker 1: one thirty one to Washington, which is the only time
- 22:23Speaker 1: they've given up over one hundred yards. Alice Collins became
- 22:26Speaker 1: the seahawks first one hundred yard rusher since December twenty
- 22:29Speaker 1: nineteen bump. So I mean, I'm hoping Alice Collins is good. Right,
- 22:34Speaker 1: He's a little banged up. Obviously, we've got some time
- 22:36Speaker 1: before Monday night, so I can get healed up, you know.
- 22:39Speaker 1: If not, the Seahawks relying DJ Dallas, Travis Homer, and
- 22:42Speaker 1: Rashad Penny, who's making his return this week, so we'll
- 22:45Speaker 1: see how much, you know, he gets involved with a
- 22:48Speaker 1: bump man, Pete Carroll made it clear the Seahawks need
- 22:50Speaker 1: to run the football. If you were if you were
- 22:54Speaker 1: to put the headset on be Shane Waldron for a
- 22:57Speaker 1: week knowing the Saints are as good as they are
- 23:00Speaker 1: at stopping the run and you want to run the football,
- 23:03Speaker 1: you know, how do you balance that? What are you
- 23:05Speaker 1: looking for this week? Knowing that that's their strength, but
- 23:08Speaker 1: that's the team that you want to be. Are you
- 23:10Speaker 1: gonna be kind of suffered and say this is what
- 23:11Speaker 1: we need to do. Are you gonna come out and
- 23:13Speaker 1: have drives where you running three plays in a row,
- 23:16Speaker 1: running a second long, you know things like that, or
- 23:18Speaker 1: are you just kind of feeling the game out? What's here?
- 23:20Speaker 1: What's your mindset heading in a game like this? A
- 23:22Speaker 1: little bit of both. I think initially you have to
- 23:24Speaker 1: try to run the football. You gotta show them. Look,
- 23:26Speaker 1: we're not scared of you. We know you're really good
- 23:28Speaker 1: against the run, but this is what we have to
- 23:30Speaker 1: do to be successful. You gotta be yourself. You can't
- 23:33Speaker 1: change who you want to be because you're playing against
- 23:35Speaker 1: a team that's good a running the rock. But like
- 23:38Speaker 1: we mention, you still got number fourteen and sixteen out there.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You can't abandon those guys. It's a field. Initially, you
- 23:44Speaker 1: come out with your ten fifteen play script. Okay, these
- 23:46Speaker 1: are the plays that we want to show to set
- 23:48Speaker 1: up everything else. But then after that you gotta go
- 23:50Speaker 1: with the flow, you know. And at halftime, if Pete
- 23:53Speaker 1: Carrolly needs to grab Shane Walden and talk about what
- 23:55Speaker 1: they what they need to do, what they don't need
- 23:57Speaker 1: to do, then you do that. But give Collins a
- 24:00Speaker 1: but still take his shots with DK in sixteen. All right,
- 24:03Speaker 1: let's let's hope it works. Let's find out how these
- 24:05Speaker 1: Seahawks are you gonna get a victory and pass the victory.
- 24:10Speaker 1: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Vickson puts
- 24:13Speaker 1: it down. That kick is away. If that kick, GONO
- 24:17Speaker 1: say it's gun. It's a pass to victory. On Hawk talk,
- 24:22Speaker 1: that's to victory. Gotta keep playing good defense, come on,
- 24:26Speaker 1: find a way to build off what you started last
- 24:28Speaker 1: week in Pittsburgh. Create turnovers. Jameis Winston is prone to
- 24:32Speaker 1: throwing you the football. This you need to set up
- 24:35Speaker 1: the offense. Man. You're playing a good sing defense. You
- 24:37Speaker 1: need to set up the Seahawks offense with some short fields,
- 24:39Speaker 1: take advantage, create turnovers. You gotta tackle Alvin Kamar Man.
- 24:44Speaker 1: This guy, like I said, he will make you miss.
- 24:47Speaker 1: You need eleven halts to the football. You cannot let
- 24:50Speaker 1: him get gone and then offensively take care of the
- 24:52Speaker 1: football man. The Seats have done well for the most
- 24:54Speaker 1: part in that category. But however, the last two turnovers
- 24:58Speaker 1: have effectively ended the game. Let's not do that three
- 25:02Speaker 1: weeks in a row without question, and find a way
- 25:04Speaker 1: to run the ball. Man, this is a huge challenge.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I know that offense wide is gonna be ready for it.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Shane Waldron and company. You don't need a crazy one
- 25:13Speaker 1: hundred and fifty year a rushing game, but she need
- 25:15Speaker 1: to be effective when you decide to run the ball.
- 25:17Speaker 1: When it's time to run the ball and you need
- 25:18Speaker 1: to get one, two, three yards, you need to be
- 25:20Speaker 1: able to do it when it's time to take time
- 25:21Speaker 1: off the clock. You need to be able to run
- 25:22Speaker 1: the ball and stay on the field. So find a
- 25:25Speaker 1: way to have an incredible challenge against a great rush defense.
- 25:29Speaker 1: But find a way to get it done. Remember that
- 25:32Speaker 1: old under armor promo, Click clack, clip clack, protect this house.
- 25:38Speaker 1: That's what the Hawks need to do name. The Hawks
- 25:41Speaker 1: have lost back to back home games at Looming Field.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Let's not make that a habit. Just find a way
- 25:47Speaker 1: to go one and oh. Let's go primetime football. This
- 25:51Speaker 1: club has been one of the best in NFL history
- 25:53Speaker 1: on primetime. Let's get back to doing what we do.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Absolutely reminder you can hear us everywhere Seahawks dot Com,

- 26:28Speaker 1: we'll be talking about a great game hopefully next Tuesday. Bump.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Let's go. The Saints are coming into town Monday Night Football.
