- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Okay, thank you, Brendan.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Doing well, Philip.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Doing well.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Weekend off.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Um charge the battery.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Feeling good.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: And you Philip, how are you doing?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm good.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I've we've returned from I don't know when this episode is gonna go out, but we got back from EHL, our unsuccessful EHL trip, which I'm sure we're gonna move on to.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Um we were gonna do a whole EHL roundup in this episode.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: But firstly, before I did, I want to obviously talk to you guys about what you've been up to.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Brendan was out in Amsterdam last week.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Brendan, can you tell us about your week?
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've been uh working in The Hague, um coaching the US Men.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Um signed the contract, so I'm an assistant coach for the US Men now.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: So that's all signed, um, which is good.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: Just waiting on the visa to then go out to the US.
- 2:37SPEAKER_03: So that's kind of my next venture, which is now all official, which is good.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: You don't sound that excited about it.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: I was really excited, but you said I'm just gonna be I've got to be professional.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Um monotone.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: No, it's been awesome.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: It's been it was a tough week.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: Um, I think the boys had I think it was 11 sessions in a week in total, um, which included two games.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: So yeah, it was a really good week, a lot of learning.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: Um, really nice to be in The Hague.
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: I've never really been before.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Quite a nice city, quite nice.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, good week.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Who did you play against?
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Uh we played Hadi M and Kazed.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: And how is how is your demeanour as a coach, would you say, on the pit a pitch side or you know, with the boys?
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: How are you trying to be?
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: I'm very relaxed, is probably the best way to describe it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: I don't really get like too up or too down, which is very different to me on the pitch.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: So I'm I'm a lot different.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Um, I think having the context of having been a player and knowing I'm up and down, I'm probably a lot more reserved than what I was as a player.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Um Do you like to be quite a pensive coach where you like put a cap on and you go out into the corner and you think about everything that's going on?
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: I quite like being away from the pitch.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: I actually struggle quite a bit on it because I get I want to get caught up in the emotions of it, whereas I quite like being away.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, it's been yeah, a lot of fun.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: You what do you make as Brendan as a coach?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: What would you what would your first thoughts be?
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Um oh a lot goes through my mind.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Like when you say you're very calm, I wouldn't that wasn't the first thing that would have topped in my head.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: I would say I think you're I would I would have thought of you as a very energetic coach who's very not not like the most structured one, but with his enthusiasm and his like energy could like make up for a lot of that.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: That was what I had in mind.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Um so good to know that that that's like like nothing like you said you were yourself.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: I'm quite like I quite like having a session plan.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: I don't like going off like piste, which is completely different to me as a player again.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: So it's like it's quite weird.
- 4:48SPEAKER_03: I'm quite logical as a coach compared to again what I'm like as a player.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I'd like to see it.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: I mean it sounds it's very exciting for you, Brent.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I think we're we're both both thrilled for you.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: It's a very exciting journey.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: You're going straight from being a player to a coach.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll hopefully share some of the journey with you, and you might actually tell us a bit about it, as you can now finally tell us about it.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Um you you you it's a bit late, but you had your week off.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: You didn't beat Bloomandel.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Um, is it all over?
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: The playoff run is all over.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: You said you were gonna make playoffs a few weeks ago.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Is that is that dream died, or are you still holding on to a small smidge of hope?
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Very much alive, very much alive.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: So here's my analysis again.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: I think Fino K is going to win against Kampung this weekend.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: We will win against Gazette, and then the difference again is only one point with two games left.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: Kampong will shit their pants.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: They're like, oh shit, here they come.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: The orange red machine, all its glory.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: We're on a run, we'll beat them, boss 7-1.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Uh uh Kampung draws uh 1-1 away at 9 Mega.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Now all of a sudden we're up, and in the final minute against HDM, uh it's nil-nil.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: We look like we bottled it, and then good old.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: I don't know who's going to score the 1-0 and we make it to playoffs.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: My very honest and humble prediction.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: I'm less convinced we're going to make it, but still uh very, very, um very confident we'll make it.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: I absolutely love the fact that you double down on the fact that you're four points behind with three to go, and instead of being like, oh yeah, it's probably not going well, you just double down.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: That's a hell of a prediction.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: If all that happens, you you I'll I'll I don't know what I'll do.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: I'll fly to Holland and take you out for coffee.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's not a win really for you, is it?
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Um yes, as I said, I'm not convinced, but I'm like, it's 75% that it will happen the way I said, and 25% that we won't make it.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: But you're not convinced.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: I'm not fully convinced.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Like I was 100% sure like I was before, before we went to Blumenau.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: 100% now I'm 75-25.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: But still, odds are in our favour.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: They're not, but in my head, they are.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: I mean, your delusion is fairly entertaining, so we'll probably we'll probably, you know, I I look forward to hearing about that next week.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Um before we move on to the EHL, have you got anything else that you guys wanted to wanted to touch on or any news that you wanted to talk about?
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: No, let's go to EHL because your your prediction also didn't really put out the way you wanted it, right?
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: No, not quite, but you know, we had to be confident.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: I don't think I'm going to double down because I've got nowhere to go.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: But for anyone who didn't watch, I guess the roundup English teams is that old Georgians lost 6-3 in the quarterfinal to Rostam.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Um, Serbiton men lost 3-1 to Campong.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Serbiton girls won their first game to make it to the quarterfinal and then lost to Dusseldorf in the quarterfinal.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Um, Gantois men and Denbosch women for the third time, Denbosch women, were the winners of the EHL.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Plenty to talk about.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, people tuned in and watched.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: If not, we're going to talk about it a little bit.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: My my first question is, Brendan, you did you watch the any of the quarterfinals and what what stood out to you?
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: I I didn't watch everything, I watched quite a lot, more than I I usually do.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Um I I didn't watch all of your game, Philip, uh, because I had to uh I think I was playing or doing something myself.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Uh but um it was quite a good game, to be honest.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: I think uh the the old guys like in hindsight, the old guys of all Georgines was a bad matchup for uh the run and gun game of Rotterdam.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: That's my analysis of it.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: You kind of run in Dutch, we say you ran into the knife, um uh like you played into their hands kind of perfectly.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Um let's be honest, you had like Ashley Jackson on the pitch, who is an amazing player, was an amazing player, but wouldn't say the run and gun game fits his style.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Um best moment of the entire weekend was a rugby tackle from Sir David Ames, uh, who could have gone off with the red.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, but because he's such a nice guy and he's David Ames, he got a he got a he got a fair warning with with a soft green, uh um which was which was we would have gone into the top 10 tackles of the week in a rugby in any rugby league uh um uh highlight uh video.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Well, let's I mean we can break we can break down a couple of these to start with if we're talking about our game.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Is that first of all, it was probably I would I reflect on it being like you're you're probably right the matchup with the guys who are in that team who are incredibly fast and they obviously have very good fitness levels were unbelievably good and they caught us on the counter, which is apparently what they do, um, and scored some really nice goals.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: I would I would reflect and said it was a it was one of those games where it's both D's, you know, obviously just win you games.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: We had lots of chances, we had 15 corners, um, we had big chances and put them under pressure and unfortunately didn't convert enough of them, and then they went up the other end almost every single time and had a had a really nice chance and scored some very nice goals.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Um, you are right, Amesy's tackle on um Stein van Heinegen, or I can't do the name, but what a lovely chap he is.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Um, was one of the best things because I saw it with about five seconds before it happened, is that Stein broke a line, he's running down a line, and I see Ames come over, and Ames is 100% accepting that as this is the ball or the man is going past, but not both are going past.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, he missed the ball, and then it was all man, stuck him right into the fence, which as you said was probably a dark yellow, maybe an orange.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Um, but even even Stein, who was just been absolutely laid out, like got up to be really angry, then realised it was Amesy, one of the nicest guys knocking quickly was like, Oh, yeah, it's okay, don't worry about that.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Don't worry about almost killing me, it's fine.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Price van Damme wasn't as happy, I've got to say that.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: He's a right grumpy type.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I've like I'm I think that Dice is the same as me in the field.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Quite a nice guy offered, and on the field, he's a he's a real bitch, just like I am.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: I do have a couple of things because you talked about Dirk Meyer um being being a really funny guy.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: He was a funny guy.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: He caught me a couple of times pre-game with just the smirk, like you said, doesn't really care that it's a big occasion, just wants to try and poke some fun at him.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: I would say, even though he won, I came out on top because I managed to win a corner on the baseline, and they gave it a corner, but I carried on dribbling and dribbled right to him and megged him.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Um, which I was really disappointed they didn't catch it on camera, and then I laughed at him and he laughed back.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Um, which I was like, okay, this guy doesn't take anything too seriously.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: So so also very he had a hell of a game and it's a very good goalie.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Brendan, did you watch the game?
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: No, I was working.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: I missed it annoyingly.
- 12:45SPEAKER_03: So I'm hearing about this aims tackle right now.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: This is the first time I'm hearing about it.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: Um, I missed the quarters because we were working, but um, yeah, that was gonna be my question.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, shut up, you actually do work on like you, you massive twat.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Um my question to you, Phil, was Nivel, Nivel, Neville.
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: Who was the Phil?
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: Who was the who was the best player in the opposition that you played against for Rotterdam?
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: Who who was the reason one of the reasons that you guys struggled?
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, it was Tys van Damme, I think.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: I think he uh he he managed to get on the ball and make things happen.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: He set up goals, he scored goals.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: He he's very, very fast and can carry the ball at the same time as like cutting cutting and making life very hard for as you nicely put it, a bunch of old men.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Um and he did that pretty successfully.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Justin Bloch is also annoyingly good, but I already kind of knew that.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: Um he seems quite casual about it.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we yeah.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: I think Brendan said casual.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: I said he's quite casual about it.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: He doesn't look like he's really ever sprinting around anywhere, he just looks like he's at 80% the whole time.
- 14:02SPEAKER_03: Just kind of just quite casual.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I mean I also know nobody who puts his body on the line more than him.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, he just I know it's very very, but he just sits down in front of every shot where someone smacks a ball, and he just sits on his knees waiting to get hit, gets hit, gets up, goes back to his business.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: I respect that.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Respect uh the the couple couple more notes is like both both teams brought like small fan groups, which made a lot of noise, which also made like a really nice atmosphere.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: The Rotterdam had their faithful or whatever they want to call it, who brought the flares and were like were like absolutely hurling, shouting, don't know what they were shouting.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: And we did the same with old Georgians, and it made for again like just creating the atmosphere that you probably want when you're playing a big game.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: Probably got a touch on Hertzberger, who played his last DHL and managed to play 15 minutes with half a hamstring and still scored two goals against us.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: So, congratulations to him.
- 15:09SPEAKER_03: He is his career's been pretty ridiculous in that league in that competition.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: Like, you can't like it's no one's even close to what Milkow's the next closest.
- 15:18SPEAKER_03: Henk Hersburg's on what 50 and Milkow's on 35, and then what Boone's on 33?
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: Like that's that's pretty ridiculous, that isn't it?
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: It's insane.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Also, and and I'm gonna knock on wood for him because I hope he finishes it off because it's his final season at Rotterdam.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Um he he hasn't missed a game in his career.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you guys knew that.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: What?
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: So he played he has not missed a game in his career, never missed a game.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: Like through through injury or anything.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: That's a crazy stat.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so he so he never missed a game, and I I and I'm I'm 99.9% sure I get this right.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: He gets he never missed the game, never got injured.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Knock on wood for him.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Um and he um so he he he I think I don't know if he tore it, but he got a hamstring injury right before EHL.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: And I don't know how, but he got on the field, and I think it would be sick if he could finish in a like it would be it would be fucking um I don't know what's correct, like vile, or I don't know, like that it would be devastating if like in his last three games or four games he would actually miss one because of injury.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: So I hope if they can like manage to just get him on the field and play like even even though it's five minutes uh a quarter, uh, that he can like get this because I think he's played 22 years, 23 years in the house cluster, and I think he's never like I'm not a thousand percent convinced, but I've heard it from Tys, I think, that he's never missed a game because of an injury.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: It's ridiculous.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, incredible.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: And and like Brendan's already said, I think him at the EHL, he kind of personifies the EHL and uh his ability to score goals, even one of the goals that he scored against us, he started the move on the halfway line, ran all the way to the back post, and he somehow is a very, very difficult touch, but he somehow makes it makes it look easy.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, he was he was amazing and scored his 50 goals, and Rotterdam managed to to get a bronze medal, which is a really nice end to finish with a medal.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Um what else?
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: I I I got a couple of things, but first of all, this the you did a really good job with um I'm gonna butcher her name, Belen Jarin.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Beling, Belen, what's what's Belen, yeah, Belinger.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, as intriguing players to watch, she was very good and she scored some really nice goals.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: So, congratulations to you on doing doing something right.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Um, who else stood out to you?
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Um who else stood out to me?
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: I thought um in your team, uh Avery played very well.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Uh played a good game against Rotterdam.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: I thought he was one of the stand-out players.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Uh the goalie from uh Gent was uh had a uh car is his name, right?
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, had an excellent tournament.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: I think uh he was one of the main reasons they won the final.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: Uh um he yeah, he was just very, very good.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: Um so I think he really stood out to me.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Uh wasn't in my list or in my uh names up front.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: Um I I loved uh also not because I won, but also loved Kina.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: Um I think he he had a couple moments, and I was kind of watching him a lot where he was on the verge of breaking breaking down and yelling at everyone.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: He kept his demeanor very well.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: He's just uh yeah, it's just very funny, and he it's also very cool, or like cool.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: I don't know, like I'm he doesn't have a position.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: He plays center back, center midfield, he just does whatever the fuck he wants.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Sometimes he just drops back, get the ball, passes it 50 yards, sometimes he just runs.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: I think it was very cool and very funny to watch.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: He also only got two cards over the weekend, so that's pretty impressive.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's very that's very impressive.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: But he's three games.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fucking oh, it's just such a legend.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: I guess what I guess we could touch on the final then because Gantoir did uh did an absolute job by I mean parking the bus against Blumenthal in the in the final.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: They played the deep zony type player, which I didn't think they had in the locker because Keena doesn't have a position.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: I didn't know if he'd be willing to willing to do the whole deep zone, but they they the the final was worrying for the first half because you thought, okay, they're playing a deep zone, this isn't very exciting, Blumendal can't really break them open, and then in the second half it just blew up, um where you've got Gantoir going.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: I do have to say, I do have to say I it was the most um uh pathetic thing I've seen in a while on a hockey pitch.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: But that being said, it was also the most amazing thing to watch.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: So I don't know if that makes sense, but I they they they owned they kind of they played like they played press for a second, then they thought, ah, it's gonna break these if we're sprinting back into the round 23.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Brought three lines, and just yeah, good luck.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Blumen out.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: I think the only the first half, the only remedy was okay, we're just gonna smack balls in knee height and hope one falls.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Also, I was I was watching on the on the couch, they had one really cool uh counterattack with like the small high ball from Kina, uh one-on-one on the goalie, but the guy missed the trap.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: Then they literally, I think they had two circle penetrations and in the first half, and one was the corner, and you already knew that fucker Hendrix was gonna flick it in.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: You already knew, and he did, and it was one-now at halftime.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: And I think Gent was got into the half of Blumenau once.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: So it was like uh like Italian buttonaccio, and I kind of like it was so pathetic that I loved it.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: It was tactically very, very smart though, because if you play the running gun game against Blumenau, you're gonna lose it.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: And they just thought, okay, we're gonna demolish this game, we're gonna annoy them, frustrate them with how how low and how sad we're going to play.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: And you saw the frustration with Blumenau building up, building up, building up.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: They were very annoyed, like this is not hockey, but they owned it.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: So I thought it was very uh sad but smart.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it worries it worries me for the future of people just looking at it and being like, the deep zone's already a trend, but then it's gonna be like, right.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Who can who can do this better, who can play the deep zone more, who can infuriate their opposition?
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: Because it was clever, like it was good.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: And luckily enough, it kind of the the second half was much more interesting because they went, you know, they went 2-0 up, Gantois did, but then Blumenthal made a comeback, they broke through um Um and then you had as normal, we have to talk about it.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: The umpiring decisions were just absolutely did you watch this?
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: That there was a a goal that Nathan Ephraim scored.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: He took a quick free hit, he ran round the edge of the D, he then pushed the ball and it went in.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: They took it upstairs to try and work out what happened, and without giving any information at all, the video umpire ruled it out.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Just said I do have go on.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: No, go on, go on.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: I th I think it was infuriating to watch because there's a number of levels with this, is that like at least give a reason as you ruling the goal out, which to everyone to me looked like he ran five and pushed it inside the D, which means that it would be a goal and therefore a very exciting game.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: But instead it was just it's no goal, give a free out.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, here's my here's my like for me there were there were like a couple things.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: One is the the goal they scored, I think it was the 2-0 before the third quarter, or the 3-1, or like the the high ball.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Um Luminar referred it, which I thought which at the time I thought was a good referral, because I thought the rule was with high ball that if you're within five as a defender constantly, it's uh it's a it's a free out for the defender, like if the ball's not so at first thought that that that high ball would be referred, but then I then I heard it's about the time at an EHL, like let's say at a Champions League final, if there's not a camera or like something that you can check the time like she said, yeah, I don't have a I I cannot check the time because I don't have a clock and the and the sound.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: Then I'm like that it's so fucking amateuristic, and not because of the ref because she can't help it, but she cannot check the time.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: When the referral was about the time, whether the goal was in or outside the the the time.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: I I just think that's that's like if you want to describe to someone what professional hockey is like, that's it.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: It's professional with the most amateuristic elements there are.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: So I can't explain it.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: I think with the the this you you said with the Ephraim's goal, I thought it was a goal, but on the other hand, he never really and that's also a rule.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: If she would have said that, I would have thought, ah, that's a really nitpicking rule.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: But it's true if she would she would have said he didn't like stop the ball to show her he took the free hit, just got it out of the D and started running immediately.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: So it never really shows where he where he took the free hit, and that that is a rule.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: So because of that, I would have uh kind of what do you how do you say understood except it why they would have cancelled the goal, but he did run five, he did flick it inside the circle, and because you didn't give a reason, everyone's like it's inside the circle and it's five.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Are you fucking blind?
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I still don't really understand why they don't talk to each other, why they can't, why the umpires and the video ref can't talk about what they saw and what they're seeing on the big big screen doesn't make any sense to me.
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: Is that not the point though?
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: Is the fact that hockey's still in that position where we're still not learning from things?
- 25:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like your point's so your point's so valid, like ropes.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: Like, why are the why are three umpires not having a conversation to solve a solve a problem?
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, rather than allowing one person to just make it a make a like a guess.
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: And on Yupe's point, like there's too many subjective rules on like what is and what isn't, and like it your point's it was still so unprofessional, like it's just where it's at, and it's not and it's not going to improve unless there's a major investment in the system.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: You know what I would love?
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Like the the NBA playoffs are here, and uh in NBA, they have the review, you can ask for a review, they you can do it in the season, and they read like the camera ahead of the of the of the uh of referee, uh, he's talking towards the camera, and then with three referees, they're watching this cutting button camera so you can see their discussion, you can hear discussion, and they're not like a video apart, they can just do it on the field, so and I can also like an element of players can be a little bit behind it, they can like walk to him and shit.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: Makes it like it gets an extra bit of show in it as well, and they can make their own decision.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: So, I kind of what I dislike is that there is like, like you said, Phil, there's no accountability for the refs on the field about the decision, but they also don't have a say in the decision.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: And hockey is like many of the rules are interpretable, so how can you they interpret the rule a certain way?
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: And like others, like refs intervene, if that makes sense, yeah.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: I also have been talking about this for a while, but I have a rule, a new rule change that I'd like to bring in that if I was in charge, I'd bring in, which is I think I don't know, I don't think we have talked about it, but it's smashing the ball into the D, right?
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, so if you're gonna hit the ball into the D or slap the ball into the D, and you hit it above knee height and it's dangerous, you instantly get a a green card.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: So everyone in international hockey or probably top-level hockey should be able to control when they hit a ball high or low.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: And if you're going to choose to hit the ball into the D and make it dangerous, you should be punished for it rather than being able to hone it uh head height through a crowd of players and then just run back to your halfway line and set up again.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: It would really make people control, first of all, and give a safety element to it, and then it'd also make it interesting because if someone decides to whack a ball in, they mess it up, it's dangerous, they get a green card.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: It obviously puts their team at disadvantage, just makes it a bit more exciting.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: I want to go the other way, Philip.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: I want to give every team uh that uh I want to say every team gets like one uh one free uh hit to the D, which can be dangerous.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Um to eliminate the low zone.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay, you're playing a low zone, but then you gotta accept at least one ball will be at like head high, waist high into the D, and you can't complain.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Like no team with a ball if the if if everyone plays like low low zone.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: If you also can't hit ball in anymore with the with the with the danger of it getting dangerous, like what is what is like if you play a low zone, you gotta accept something you get hit in the face.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: That's just life, deal with it.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's terrible.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: Play a normal press, put some put some pressure on the ball, it won't happen.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: I'm with you.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: Everybody's starting to play this low zone.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: There's got to be a rule that breaks it.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but that's not gonna break it, and no one's gonna be like, oh yeah, lads, let them whack it in head height.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: Like, let's have someone die.
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: No, but if you think you think all that's gonna happen is presses are gonna become more and more like the forwards are gonna become more and more useless because they're just gonna get hurt.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: Final 45 seconds, final 45 seconds for each alphino.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: You saw blooming up very frustrated and just hit him balls in.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: They didn't go everything high, low.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: They just wanted to hit it as hard as they could into their low zone.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so you're proven you're prove my point now.
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: Um has has anyone worked out how to play against this low zone?
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: Has definitely done it consistently.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: Smack balls in as hard as you can.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: I'm sure, Brendan, someone has, but um we're we're we've we're gonna return to you after the break for a bit more EHL chat and some other stuff.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: And we're back.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: We had a small hiatus to discuss weddings, but we won't go any further than that.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: Can I can I chime in with another rule as well that I think should come in?
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: Another rule option.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Like it, okay.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: I I think drilling should become a thing at outfield.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: I'm a bit I'm a bit done with like players getting into a corner and their only skill is to lace it through people knee high.
- 30:07SPEAKER_03: I'm a bit done with that.
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: I think that should be a green card as well.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: Is that what happens at in the lower in the lower four of the Premier League?
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: That 100% happens in the top six.
- 30:16SPEAKER_03: There's so much shit owsery between players that if someone gets stuck in a corner, I know James Aubrey's got it in him, I know Luke Taylor's got it in him, I know uh who else is who else is Hamstead?
- 30:27SPEAKER_03: Any Hampstead player's got it in them, Will Cowan's got it in it.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: Like, there's too many players in that like who get in the corner and just want to just lace it through people knee high and will giggle about it as well because they know it's shitows right.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: That should be a green.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: There needs to be more skill in the corner.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: Um are you are you saying there needs to be more skill in the corner, Brendan?
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: Brendan normally likes reverse, reverse and how convenient now that you've stopped playing, then you're gonna want them to be more skill in the game.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: I think you'll find you.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: I don't lace it out the corners, I try and win a foot, try my hardest and fail miserably, but I try.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: You actually had a very bad uh dive once we when we once played you.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: I called you a bitch, I don't know who we're doing in striker.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: Do you know what you that normally happens?
- 31:23SPEAKER_03: You're not the first to fall for it.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: Brendan's that is actually my if I was to talk about my most hated thing about Brendan's hockey, it would be exactly that.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: It's this like, oh, I'm gonna half cut a player out and then I'm gonna flail my arms and kick my legs up like I've been tripped up and get the foul.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: When it was it was when it was complete and utter rubbish, and it was just naive from you, mate, to fall for my tricks yet again.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: No, I'm I'm normally 20 yards away being like he's a diving bitch, he's a bitch.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: But yeah, that's that's my rule offer, and I think that should come in.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: I think that should come to Outfield.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: Not just that's a normal that's a really good idea though for next segment.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: It's like what's your worst trait on a hockey pitch?
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: You've got you's just gotta be big bitch.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: It's gotta be there's there's nothing worse than a youped them all whine from distance.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, shut up, mate.
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: Just get on with it.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm such a bitch.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: I did get a really I can act like the whole world is against me.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: Like everyone's against me, all the reps and shit.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: I don't want to yeah, I could be a bitch.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: I uh as bad as foot up, though, but I could be a bitch.
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: I received a I also think I received a message from Hockey Focus saying they've got a lovely image of you staring at the umpire, giving a proper death stare.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Sounds about right.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: They would they actually did uh that's another good segue into the fact that they did a really good job, and all the content guys who came out and did slow-mos, there was quite a few of them.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: Hockey focus, one of them the where they did really, really nice content throughout the weekend, kept people up to date who obviously weren't tuning in or just wanted to look on Instagram.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: So congrats to you guys.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: Um like Brendan.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: You but I was gonna say to you that one of your worst traits is actually your overly friendliness around the pitch.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: It's pretty annoying.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: It's like you always want to be friends with everyone, it's pretty annoying.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: And even when you want to hate you, you're like, hey, my man.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: He's still a bitch, but Brendan's a bit disappointed about something.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, and you was there anyone else who stood out, or should I well may actually I'll go with with players who stood out.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: I think we've obviously talked about him a lot, but I think Zach Wallace throughout the tournament was was unbelievably good.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: I think he stepped up when it mattered and showed why he's one of the best players in the world.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: Um, especially in the semi-final, I think he created a created a couple of goals which were incredibly important by some real nice steals and then vision passing.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: I think if anyone if anyone was wondering, he's still very good and someone to someone to watch.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: Is there anyone else that that stood out to you, Yep?
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: What all semi-finals really good?
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: Had a couple good runs, long runs, very objective.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: Don't know the guy, but he was very good.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: Um Derek Devilder, also very good at hockey.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a bit of an unsung hero, in my opinion.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: Very good hockey player, very underrated.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: As in, doesn't get the flowers he deserves.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: I thought he was very, very good.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Jack Maier, as we mentioned already, um is normally a really good shootout goalie, but I kind of felt like he wasn't really in it, if that makes sense.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: Like he's he's a tough goalie to take shootouts against.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: He's always in it very long, but never really got into the like never really got into the shootouts, or they were taken very well by Gantwas.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: I thought that he would be better, but like especially the last goal, I think it seemed like one of them where the occasion's quite big, and and he did one of the things where he got slightly too close and then had to make a dive and then made it easy for the Gantwell guy to win it.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's normally like really, really good at it.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: It's tough to take a shoot out against him.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: As I said, he's he's like in it very long and he's a good shoot at goalie.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: But yeah, yeah, which just wasn't his day and that aspect, but he played a very good game.
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I thought I thought and just a I thought uh Caseya from Gent was also stood out, and not only because he played a good game, but also because he got hit seven times in the game.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: Even at like the final 20 seconds when the game was already done and dusted.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Someone from Bloom now, I don't know who hit it in, and you knew it was out of pure frustration.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: Just fuck you guys with your low zone, I'm gonna hit it in.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: And he got it on his hand again.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: I think he got hit five times.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, he stood out for me both positively and because he got hit so much.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: And and at the women's women's side, as you said, Baling Balengi Balling?
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: She played I don't know how to pronounce her name, but she was good.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: I thought Gantois women were were very good.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: I thought they they made it very, very tough on them boss, and at certain points in the game I thought they might actually nick it from them, they might actually win it.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: Can I but can I bring my smug prediction, kind of half smug prediction out in the fact that I said a few weeks ago that Gantois, women and men could win it.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: I mean they didn't, but I thought like Gantois taking Dem Boss to a shootout in the in the semi-final was a pretty good indication that they're pretty close.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: Talk about smug.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: I think I said Denboss and Gantwas were gonna win it.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you did.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I did.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: He called both wins.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: I did.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, listen back to it.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: I did.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: Um Brendan, you had something to say about Denbosh women?
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they just didn't seem that bothered about winning.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: It was a bit like dunno, I just I just felt really disappointed that they won.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: I think.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: I just don't think they're as good as everyone thinks they are.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: I don't know why.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: I've just got that like I just that I genuinely think that like the Dutch women's league is just so far ahead still that it's like unfortunately, Stixer versus Den Boss was basically the final.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: Like I know they got taken close and this, that, and the other, but there's something about Dutch sides that are still, I just think nine times out of ten they're gonna win, and that one time they might not win is not because they're not good enough, it's just because they probably didn't turn up rather than other teams being better.
- 37:47SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 37:48SPEAKER_03: Like just they just didn't seem that bothered about winning, and it kind of pissed me off a bit because it's like the way Gantoir's men celebrated made me think, yeah, there's still life in the world, and then when 10 boss women, I think three of them didn't even smile, they didn't even celebrate, just fucking miserable.
- 38:03SPEAKER_03: Um sod off, let a team who actually want to fucking win it, win it.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but like like like so you kind of contradict yourself by saying nine out of ten days they win everything, and then you say they're not that good, as everyone thinks they are.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: Like, I agree, they're not that good.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: They've only won like 18 out of the last 20 championships and won the last five EHLs or something, so they're they're really shit.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: Do you know do you know what I mean though?
- 38:30SPEAKER_03: Isn't like every team they almost teams just respect them so much that they give them too much space.
- 38:36SPEAKER_03: So then I don't think some of the players are that good, the national players that they've got.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm gonna be brutally honest.
- 38:42SPEAKER_03: I don't think they're as good as they like people think they are.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: I think they just get given so much respect that they're able to then play the game to a high level.
- 38:50SPEAKER_03: Whereas I think if you actually pressurize them, I don't think they're as good.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Fun fact, they actually missed two international players.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: So maybe they are that good because they missed both Jooshaberg and Rosa Fenig, who are like starting players for them international players, yeah.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: So they played with like half a half a Frederik Mattler, no Jooshaburg, no uh Rosa Fenig, and they still won EHL, so maybe they are that good, Brendan.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: No, I I disagree.
- 39:18SPEAKER_03: Like, no, I just disagree.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: I just disagree.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: I'm not saying they're not good, I'm just disagreeing.
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: I don't think they're as good as everyone makes them out to be.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: I'd love to get I'd love to back you up, Brenn, but I just think I do think you're wrong.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: Um I just don't I just think they've got so used to winning that it's infuriated you that they haven't celebrated as much as you want them to, and it's not as a special occasion because they win absolutely everything that they ever do.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: That's very much the case, yeah.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and they they scored an unbelievably good team goal in the final.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: Um they looked pretty comfortable, obviously, like overcoming the overcoming the scare, but that's what great teams do, is that even when they're not at their best, they find a way to win.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: Um I just think it was one of those games in which they didn't really turn up and then it got close and they still won on shootouts.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: That's what that's what I mean.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: It's like they just didn't, that's the only reason they'd lose.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: I do think I have got a thought about the EHL in general, and that's like that I think it could it was it was a good weekend as normal.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: They put on a good weekend, but I do think there's more to be done with like making the game more exciting, like we've talked about about like maybe potentially trying out rules, trying out tweaks that could actually help the game become more entertaining.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Because I think we still I still find it a little bit disappointing that you're looking at the games, you know, on a Thursday evening at the EHL, and you still, you know, there's lots of lots of empty seats and and and stuff isn't going, you know, it's not as exciting as you want it to be because you have to get people to the stadium, you have to get people watching, and just how you can do that.
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: EHL has complete control of what they do.
- 41:05SPEAKER_00: So, what stops them from getting a panel and trying to create new and exciting rules or adding certain things to the weekend that would make more people turn up?
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: I haven't got the answers, but I just something that I that I thought about when we were there.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and maybe timing-wise, don't put the the game for the bronze medal at at 9 15 on a Monday like suggestion that don't think a lot of people will turn up for that, to be honest.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: Do you not like um is there any like feedback forms that get sent out?
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 41:39SPEAKER_03: Like, I mean are they are they asking people?
- 41:41SPEAKER_03: Like the only reason I say that is like the the pro league feedback came back, the pro league feedback came through to governing bodies basically asking like what's working really well, this, that, and the other, and there was a real lack of space for basically the pro league isn't working, or like why isn't it working that well?
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: There was only like almost like blinkers on being like the pro league's the best product type thing, rather than being like, is there a way we could actually make it better?
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 42:09SPEAKER_03: Like, I wonder if the EHL could go down that route of like, and I know it's sifting through a lot of shite from people being like, Yeah, I think we should bring this rule where you can only have two defenders and nine forwards, we don't have a low zone or whatever it is.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Like, I think there's a there's there's something to be said about actually speaking to people who want to innovate rather than necessarily just being happy with the stagnant sport.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, agreed.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: Agreed.
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: I don't like they brought in the two-goal rule for the field goal a couple of years ago, and it changed it a little bit.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: I don't think I enjoyed it that much because you know, score lines could could go a bit crazy, but at the same time, at least it was something something for coaches to think about, and something, but then also you're maybe taking away the historical element of winning the EHL if it's too radical a change.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: But you know, welcoming some opinions, Gordon Brennan.
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, that was the other thing I was gonna ask.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: Um your hand up, interesting.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sorry.
- 43:02SPEAKER_03: Um Hendrix back to back, isn't he?
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, maybe probably the first person to go.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: That's my question.
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: Is he the first back-to-back winner as an individual for different clubs?
- 43:15SPEAKER_03: That's quite that's quite an impressive stat that.
- 43:17SPEAKER_03: Does that put him up there with one of the most like valuable players to have ever played it?
- 43:23SPEAKER_03: I don't know, it's a quite it's an open question.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, in fairness, he was also very good in the final and he can he controlled his team very nicely.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: And normally I think he can be a bit rash and can sometimes overplay, and um, but he seemed like scoring a hat trick in the final.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: Uh he scored the winner last year, he scored a hat-trick in the final this year.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: You can't really f fault him for his ability to have a big impact on games.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: He he scored three goals, he was quite shit.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: He mistrapped a lot of balls.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: They play low zone, and he mistrapped a lot of balls in the D.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: You had a different take on it than me.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: They they okay.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: You can't deny his impact though, hey.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: No, I completely agree.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: It's in it's insane, and well done to him, and uh incredible achievement and uh hooray, uh what a legend.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: But uh I don't think he had uh he okay he it he does have a really big impact.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: It wasn't shit, but if you play a low zone and he in the position he was in, he missed a lot of like traps and shit that weren't typically normally that's like one of his skills.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: I believe he he he traps balls very like well and he's very good at like the the bunts into the circle, gets everything on his stick.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: It's what he's really good at, and I think he lacked a bit in that a couple chances.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: I think even the goal came from his miss trap or a couple chances and shit.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: So I think in that aspect he didn't have his best game, but then again, yeah, if if I had 50% of his corner, I think I would have been top scorer in Holland.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: I also feel I I also feel I know that Yup really hates this subject, but um the pitches.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: So we have to play on so yeah, you can go away.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: Um we have to play on so many bad pitches in England, and I'm convinced that I am 50% better on a Dutch pitch.
- 45:32SPEAKER_00: So the the Dembosch pitch is just absolutely glorious, and uh, we all got onto the pitch and being like, is this what a real pitch should feel like?
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: You're like, yeah, and I just don't know if they don't ship them to the UK or they don't exist in the UK, but yeah.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Go on, you hit us with it.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: You also said you both said that OGs would be second in the league in Holland or like be contending one of the best teams in Holland.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: You lost against the number six, six three.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: So that's nothing to do with what I brought up.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: I mean it's fairly interesting.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you said you'd be 50% better, so it says a lot about going from a delusional guy, it says a lot about how delusional you are.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: Thanks, one to no one, Philip.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: I think you've missed my point, but all right, that's fine.
- 46:17SPEAKER_00: I'll let it go.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: I get what you're basically saying, but no problem.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: I get the point.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: Pitches in Holland are good because we invest money in it, pitches in in England are shit because you don't invest money in your hockey, or you invested in the wrong shit.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: Can't argue with that.
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that that's that's fine.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: I also do agree that you that you know I didn't say that we'd be top two in Holland.
- 46:37SPEAKER_00: Brendan said that, and I I also do feel I did come across off the pitch actually feeling a little bit jealous of the fact that like you have that standard in Holland every week, which is pretty unbelievable.
- 46:52SPEAKER_00: I think it does give you an incredible stepping stone to be able to compete in in Europe every year.
- 46:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, you can be jealous, Philip, but you actually got a contract in Holland one year, you could have stayed for longer.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: The option was there, you chose to go back to your shitty, shitty club hockey in England.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: So you can be jealous, but you had it right in front of you.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: So could have played at OR, we could have made EHL with you, because as you know, you're like you were you you are the difference between us making EHL and not, and you decided to fuck off.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: So here we go.
- 47:23SPEAKER_03: I feel you is tired and he's taking his frustrations out on you right now, Phil.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: That's okay, it's all right.
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: It's it's he needs, like we said, we have to give like this.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: Is how I treat my kids.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: You have to take the hate and give it back with love.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: And I think you're right, you've we can be better.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: So I'll take your feedback and we'll move it on.
- 47:43SPEAKER_00: Love you too.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, you we're gonna enter the coop quickly.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I have one coop question, and I'll give you guys some time to think about it.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: Um if you had a biography about your own life until now, an autobiography, what would the title of the book be?
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Let's be honest, this is an excellent question.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: This is actually an excellent question, but this is this is tough.
- 48:20SPEAKER_03: How would you describe your life so far, like in general, before coming up with a biography and title?
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: I would my my uh my title would probably be uh Thriving in Chaos A Yubedemol story.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: That's quite good though.
- 48:39SPEAKER_01: A Yub de Mall story, Thriving in Chaos.
- 48:43SPEAKER_03: Uh Mine might be rolling with the punches.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have another good one.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: Two point second biography structures overrated.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: The Yub the Mall story.
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: No, again, structures for bitches.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: For some reason, just because I was we were talking about nicknames today, mine keeps coming back to the adventures of pubehead and the gang.
- 49:16SPEAKER_03: That isn't not sure you'd sell many.
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, you probably would actually.
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: You probably sell quite a bit with that name.
- 49:22SPEAKER_03: Oh yours would be yours should be whining to the top with a hate in whining.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: Coming from the biggest bitch out there.
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: That is exactly why you that response is exactly why that title works for you.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: This is what a real athlete looks like.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: A you move story.
- 49:49SPEAKER_03: You've given this some thought.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: I'd stay with mine, I'd stay with Roland with the punches.
- 49:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, both both.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: A fur ropa story.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: I'll take it.
- 50:07SPEAKER_00: It's nice.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: How to succeed at 17 clubs.
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: A fur ropa story.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: You bear.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, I guess money is not everything, it's the only thing.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: Fir ropa story.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: Did you enjoy the AI dolls that we made of ourselves?
- 50:30SPEAKER_03: I thought they were very good.
- 50:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so shout out to Ross.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: Shout out to Ross Bone, who uh sent them to me.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: Who he said he had too much time on his hands.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: No, fuck you, Ross Bone.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: I came out shit.
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: It was so funny.
- 50:44SPEAKER_00: I I think the detail, I mean, they got a few things wrong.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: They gave Yupe the headband.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: Um, I was meant to have the headband.
- 50:51SPEAKER_00: I had double glove on, which hurt me more than anything, but I had the money bag as well, which is which is really funny.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: Brendy Brendan, which I think most people missed, had a crusty towel as his special item, which is just unbelievable.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: I think the crusty towel, I genuinely think was like episode two or three of you being around.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: And it's stuck around for five seasons.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because he's mentioned it every single episode.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: Ridiculous.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: You even got an Instagram account, I think.
- 51:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I did.
- 51:26SPEAKER_03: It moved around though, because I think you I think you had one as well.
- 51:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, I feel like we're just we're just having a chat now.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: So, um, for anyone who isn't interested in the NBA playoffs, you can just turn it off now.
- 51:37SPEAKER_00: Just quickly, we're gonna get your predictions for who's gonna win the NBA.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: Youp.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: Sayanara.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: Enjoy your week.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, no, Rose just asked you who's gonna win the NBA.
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: Well, I thought this was goodbye.
- 51:53SPEAKER_03: Hey, Sayanara.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: Listening, listening, listening is overrated, youp Demol.
- 52:00SPEAKER_00: That's your that's your book title.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: Uh I I know OKC is gonna win it.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: Uh I I hope uh the Lakers are going to win it.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: And I um I think, yeah, as I said, OKC will win it 100%.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: Not a doubt.
- 52:19SPEAKER_01: Not a doubt.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: Not a doubt.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: Um I I would like to see the Nugg win it, because I think then Joker comes into the and comes into the whole goat conversation.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: You clearly haven't watched a lot of basketball, Brand.
- 52:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're a bit behind with the Denver.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: Jokic is insane, but Denver is shite.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know they're not great, but I just quite like to say I'd also like quite like to see Russ win it.
- 52:47SPEAKER_03: Because I really like Westbrook.
- 52:49SPEAKER_03: It's the biggest shit house, I think, in that league.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: Outside of Dylan Brooks, but he's just shit.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: And Anthony Edwards.
- 52:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:57SPEAKER_03: Um, I would like to see Luca win it after everything that went down with Dallas.
- 53:03SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, I'm I'd I'd like to see Denver.
- 53:05SPEAKER_03: I'd like to see Denver.
- 53:07SPEAKER_00: So the Lakers aren't winning.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: It's not happening.
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: There we go, enough.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: Um Steph and Steph and Jimmy, Batman and Robin.
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: They're going all the way.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: That's what also have you seen.
- 53:19SPEAKER_03: Have you seen there's been a thing video going around about the moment about putting uh Steph into the GOAT debate?
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: Well, Brent, yeah.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, we we're not actually a basketball podcast, so we're gonna sign out.
- 53:32SPEAKER_00: It's been lovely seeing you all.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: We can kind to continue this conversation off air.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: Brendan's very disappointed in me right now.
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: We'll see you next time.
- 53:41SPEAKER_00: This has been Let's Stick Together, brought to you by Y One.
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: Not a basketball podcast.
- 53:47SPEAKER_03: Cheerio.
- 53:49SPEAKER_03: We're not a basketball podcast.
