- 2:44I've been working all weekend and I know everybody's probably
- 2:47saying what the hell does that mean?
- 2:48How do you keep your voice wet? Well, you got to keep it wet.
- 2:51You, you got to drink water. And that's what I've been doing
- 2:54over the last 24 hours. I did 3 weddings this weekend.
- 2:58I went from Friday to Saturday to Sunday.
- 3:02It was a long process. It was probably 24 hours worth
- 3:07of DJing in three days. It's a lot of work.
- 3:10I don't know if anybody's prepared.
- 3:12The preparation behind it is significant.
- 3:15And you know, I'm a little tired.
- 3:17I, I, I actually went to work today.
- 3:19I work at a hospital and then I'm here, you know, doing a four
- 3:22hour show. It's not easy, ladies and
- 3:24gentlemen, but happy to entertain you guys and we are
- 3:27going to entertain you guys throughout the show.
- 3:31I will say this also this weather, I love the, the cold.
- 3:36I love the fall feeling here in Long Island.
- 3:40It was about, I would say, 5554 today.
- 3:45And then it started to get a little bit more chilly, looked
- 3:47like it was going to rain. It didn't rain.
- 3:49It's cloudy. And if anybody or everybody who
- 3:53doesn't know, daylight savings time was on Saturday, late
- 3:58Saturday night. So now it's getting dark at like
- 4:025:30 in the afternoon. So it's completely dark here in
- 4:07Long Island. Seasonal depression is real
- 4:12seasonal depression. Like we were talking about a
- 4:14bunch of buddies in the neighborhood and it's like once
- 4:16it gets to this point, you're like, and it doesn't really hit
- 4:19you. One of one of our neighbors,
- 4:20he's he's a younger dad and he's like, man, it really, I didn't
- 4:24really think it was that big of a deal until I kid.
- 4:26Now he's like, I feel like a terrible dad because it's like,
- 4:28what can we do? We can only go to the Y so much
- 4:31or the the bounce house, which gives me anxiety even saying it.
- 4:35But it's like you're right because there's only so much you
- 4:37can do. And it's like your body tells
- 4:39you like, oh, it's dark. Like, oh, I should be getting
- 4:43dinner ready and you're like, it's 530.
- 4:45Like what is going on right now? I don't like it.
- 4:48I, I really don't like it, but you get used to it because as it
- 4:51gets colder in the winter time and you could see your, your,
- 4:56you could see the, the flame or whatever you call it, like the
- 4:58smoke coming out of your mouth because it's too.
- 5:01Cold your breath. Yeah, your breath.
- 5:03I don't know what you call it, just your breath and all the,
- 5:06the, the fizz coming out of your mouth.
- 5:08It's, it's a little bit different than in the summertime
- 5:11when you're sweating your butt off and you're trying to figure
- 5:13out, well, when am I going to get into the pool or if I'm
- 5:16going to the ocean, when am I going to the beach?
- 5:19I got to go to work. The beach is closed at six, 7:00
- 5:22and you can't go to the beach anyway.
- 5:24So unless you're a surfer and you, you have to find your way.
- 5:27But what is this? What, what is it?
- 5:29There? It is daylight savings time.
- 5:30There it is right there. Ladies and gentlemen, it was
- 5:332:00 in the morning when daylight savings time, daylight
- 5:37savings time was here in New York.
- 5:40I don't know where it is anywhere else, but it's.
- 5:42I think that's universal is about two.
- 5:45Yeah, so it was 2:00 AM. Would you rather?
- 5:47Would you rather be hot or would you rather be cold?
- 5:49Cold. Absolutely cold.
- 5:52The heat. See, the problem here is if
- 5:56you're too hot, you can take your shirt off all the way to
- 5:59your bare ass. You're still hot.
- 6:02You're still hot. You.
- 6:03Can't take your skin? Off No, you can't take your skin
- 6:06off. So you could jump in.
- 6:08You know, you could jump in a pool or do with something of
- 6:10that magnitude. But if what happens if you don't
- 6:12have a pool next to you, what are you going to jump in a cold
- 6:14shower? I mean, honestly, with the
- 6:17winter, you can put on a coach, you can put on a beanie, you can
- 6:20put on gloves, you can put on boots.
- 6:23It'll keep you warm. You can put on sweats.
- 6:26You can never be too cold when it comes to the winter time, but
- 6:30in the summertime you can be too hot and you could be burning,
- 6:34you could be sweating, you could be leaking.
- 6:37I call it leaking because once it gets to my my ass, as we call
- 6:41it swamp ass, it's no fun. No fun Poops is laughing, but
- 6:46it's true. You get the sweat that rolls
- 6:49down your back. Dude, when I go to the gym and
- 6:52even now with the, you know, the winter time coming around the
- 6:55corner and I'm running on the treadmill, I'm walking on the
- 6:58treadmill, I'm sweating and where does it hit me?
- 7:01First it it it heads to my ass. That's where it heads.
- 7:05And then it starts to leak down my back.
- 7:07But it's usually on any guy. I don't know women because they
- 7:11wear thongs. You know, they do all they wear
- 7:14these like they wear nothing under their shorts or whatever
- 7:17the hell they're wearing their body suits.
- 7:20So they don't sweat as much as we do.
- 7:23We sweat like crazy and I, I, that's one of the reasons why I
- 7:28don't like cardio and I don't know like going on a treadmill.
- 7:31Now I've been doing it every single day and I'm so used to
- 7:34it. So it, it's not one of the fun
- 7:37things to do when you go to the gym is go on, hey, I'm going to
- 7:39go run on the cardio cardio machines.
- 7:42I'm going to go on the treadmill.
- 7:43I'm going to go on the elliptical.
- 7:44I'm going to go on the, the stairs.
- 7:46I, I, I, I, I don't like it, but you have to especially if you
- 7:50want to keep your A1C down, which I've been doing very, very
- 7:52good. And by the way, Coach Fish, you
- 7:55know all about that. And I've, I've taken some advice
- 7:58from people that have been through diabetes and I don't
- 8:01have diabetes, but I don't want diabetes because our executive
- 8:04producer has, he is diabetic and he goes through a lot of
- 8:08different things and trials and tribulations in his life.
- 8:12And I, I, I sincerely, you know, wish nothing but the best for
- 8:15him. It's, it's not easy.
- 8:17My father was diabetic. So I don't want to go through
- 8:20that. It's the worst of the worst
- 8:23diseases you can go through because there's no control of
- 8:25it. And even when you try to control
- 8:27it, you can't control it. And I'm sure Fish could tell you
- 8:30a bunch of stories. And I don't really want to get
- 8:32into it. It's his business.
- 8:33But yeah, so I, I, I don't want to be diabetic.
- 8:36So that's all I'm going to say about that.
- 8:38And that's what I'm. I'm doing treadmill work and
- 8:40I've lost 30 lbs. I've been drinking lots and lots
- 8:44of water, ladies and gentlemen. That's what I've been doing,
- 8:48drinking a lot of it. But it's not fun when you're so
- 8:51used to eating and and drinking all the different things you've
- 8:54been doing since you were a kid and now you can't even do it.
- 8:56So because you got to be careful.
- 8:59So it's time consuming, speedy, you know, all about time
- 9:02consuming or consumptions, as we all know.
- 9:04Anyways. In Saturday night's Game 7, the
- 9:07Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5 to 4 in 11
- 9:13innings to become back-to-back World Series champions.
- 9:17The Blue Jays took a three nothing lead after Bichette hit
- 9:21a three run shot off of Otani in the third inning.
- 9:26After the Dodgers fought back with a couple of sacrifice flies
- 9:30to make it 4 to two months, he hit a solo shot in the 8th
- 9:34inning to cut the deficit to four to three, setting the stage
- 9:39for the unlikeliest of heroes. Rojas, the Dodgers 9 hitter and
- 9:45ace fielding second baseman, hit a solo home run to tie the game
- 9:51with one out in the ninth inning.
- 9:54Rojas then made the game saving defensive play, throwing a base
- 9:59runner out at home in the bottom of the inning and extras the
- 10:04Dodgers brought. They brought in Yamamoto less
- 10:08than 24 hours after winning game number six.
- 10:11He pitched almost 3 innings to get the win after Smith hit hit
- 10:16the series winning home run in the top of the 11th.
- 10:21Yamamoto was named the World Series MVP with three wins, a
- 10:25one point O2 ERA and 15 strikeouts in the series.
- 10:30The Dodgers have won three out of the last 6 World Series.
- 10:38Well I wrote a story after the World Series.
- 10:42I actually stopped. I sat at 7-11 after the World
- 10:47Series and wrote a long story about this unbelievable win.
- 10:55And if you're a Dodger fan, there's really nothing to say
- 10:58congratulations to the Dodgers. They bought another
- 11:01championship. And I know everybody's going to
- 11:04say, well, you're you're a hated Yankee fan.
- 11:07You hate the Dodgers. You don't want to see the
- 11:09Dodgers win. No, that's not it.
- 11:12That's not it, guys. The fact is, and I'll go back
- 11:16and forth with this, the Dodgers have been an organization that
- 11:22has built their team around deferred money.
- 11:26Now, every team could use the deferred money.
- 11:29I know that's what Jabba is going to say.
- 11:30I know that's what everybody will say.
- 11:32Every baseball team could use the deferred aspect of the game.
- 11:39Well, why haven't other teams done it?
- 11:42And if there have been teams that have done it, they haven't
- 11:45done it as much as the LA Dodgers half.
- 11:50And why now? We've seen Mookie Betts.
- 11:54Mookie Betts took the deferred money.
- 11:56Freddie Friedman took the deferred money.
- 11:58Yamamoto decided to come and play with Otani.
- 12:01Sasaki did the same. We look at this team.
- 12:04You brought Hernandez in, yet you sprinkle a little this guy
- 12:08and Rojas and you sprinkle a little this guy, Will Smith.
- 12:11And this team is a championship contending team.
- 12:17They're stacked from top to bottom.
- 12:20Their relief is one of the best in baseball, even though they
- 12:23weren't very good in the World Series and throughout the
- 12:26playoffs. But this rotation, what's now
- 12:29deferred money glass. Now I I would say some of it
- 12:33deferred, but most of it is paid upfront.
- 12:36This is a team that built their dynasty and winning around money
- 12:46and paying players to come here and honestly make a deal, spin
- 12:50the wheel and make the deal and say, you know what, come here,
- 12:52we'll give you $10 million. And 20 years from now or 12
- 12:55years from now, we'll pay you the rest of the money.
- 12:58You're going to get endorsed, you're going to get rings, and
- 13:01we're going to become a dynasty of an organization, and you're
- 13:04going to have a chance to really be a part of something special.
- 13:08Now, everybody's going to look at this and they're going to
- 13:10say, didn't the Yankees do that in the 90s?
- 13:14And, and we've said this over and over and over again, the
- 13:17Yankees did not do this in the 90s.
- 13:20And if we want to go back and we look at the 90's, the Yankees
- 13:24didn't win their first title to until 96.
- 13:27They brought up Derek Jeter in 95.
- 13:30And Derek Jeter eventually became the captain of team later
- 13:33in his career. I I would probably 3-4 years
- 13:35after winning a couple of titles, but before that Derek
- 13:40Jeter was young and they had Bernie Williams on this roster.
- 13:43They made a trade. They brought in Paul O'Neill for
- 13:48Roberto Kelly and I remember Roberto Kelly, he was a top
- 13:51prospect for the New York Yankees.
- 13:55The Yankees then decided to bring up players like Mariano
- 13:59Rivera, which if anybody has not checked out the Expos
- 14:03documentary, the Yankees made a trade with the Expos to bring in
- 14:08Wickman. That was the trade that the
- 14:10Yankees made the big move to bring in a relief pitcher, John
- 14:14Wetland. He was traded to the Yankees
- 14:17from the Expos when the Expos were trying to tear apart that
- 14:21team before they decided to move them to.
- 14:25We all know where they went, Washington.
- 14:27But if you go back, John Wetland was the guy.
- 14:30He was the closer. Marion Rivera got called up.
- 14:33He was the 8th inning guy. Andy Pettit got called up in
- 14:389596. Then we we saw Jorge Posada, we
- 14:43saw the team being built around a core of players.
- 14:48You brought in Wade Box, you brought in Paul O'Neill, Tino
- 14:51Martinez. The Yankees brought in, they
- 14:54brought in all these guys. Then eventually Scott Broaches
- 14:56and Charlie Hayes and we could go on and on and on with the
- 14:59roster. Most of those guys were not
- 15:01superstars. Paul O'Neill and Tino Martinez
- 15:05were great players. Paul O'Neill came from
- 15:07Cincinnati. He did win a title with
- 15:09Cincinnati, but Paul O'Neill was up and down before he was traded
- 15:13to the New York Yankees and became the Warrior.
- 15:15Tino Martinez was a good player. He was a great first baseman
- 15:19with a lot of pop. Did he have the power that he
- 15:22had when he went to Yankee Stadium?
- 15:23No, he did not. It took him a little while and
- 15:26then he hit those fifty home runs.
- 15:28He had a he had a fifty home run season, hit a couple of 40 home
- 15:32run season or close to 40 home run seasons.
- 15:34He became a power hitter with the New York Yankees.
- 15:36Maybe because of the short porch and maybe because of the depth
- 15:39of the lineup that the Yankees built.
- 15:42The Yankees did not buy their championships.
- 15:45They didn't. And anybody that is going to
- 15:48argue that with me go back in time and look at the roster.
- 15:52When you look at this Dodger team, I I just go up and down
- 15:56it. This is not the same thing.
- 16:01When you're trying to compare the Yankees and the Dodgers,
- 16:03You're you're you can't compare both dynasties.
- 16:07The Yankees went on to win 3 championships in the row, won
- 16:11four out of five championships, and everybody says, well, the
- 16:15Dodgers could do that. The Dodgers could win 3 next
- 16:17year, and they very much could. Blake Snell is still very young.
- 16:21Glass now is still young. Otani is still fairly young.
- 16:24He'll be 32 next year. Yamamoto is a young pitcher.
- 16:27Sasaki is what, 29 years old? This is a great rotation, the
- 16:32line up. Freddie Freeman's getting up in
- 16:33age. Mookie Betts is still young.
- 16:35Muncie is still middle age. You know, you look at this
- 16:38roster, this is still a capable roster.
- 16:41And who knows what they do in the offseason.
- 16:42Maybe they make a move for Bryce Harper.
- 16:45Maybe they make a move for one of these guys like Kyle Tucker
- 16:50and Kyle Tucker did say takes deferred money to go and play
- 16:53for the Dodgers. I don't know.
- 16:56But what I do know is baseball needs to figure this out.
- 17:01Now, I know everybody's going to say, oh, you're a sore loser.
- 17:04You're a poor man's Dodger fan. And I'm, I'm not, I'm not a poor
- 17:09man's Dodger fan. That's what somebody told me on
- 17:11social media says you're a Yankee fan, you're a poor man's
- 17:14Dodger fan. I said poor man, the Yankee won,
- 17:17the Yankees won 27 World Series and I've seen about 5 or 6 of
- 17:21them. OK, How am IA poor man's Yankee
- 17:25fan or Dodger fan? I'm not.
- 17:28I just know what I see and what I've seen with the Dodgers and
- 17:32what the Dodgers have done. Is it bettering baseball?
- 17:35Is it making baseball better? Is it challenging other teams to
- 17:39do the same thing that they have done over the last past three or
- 17:43four or five years? The answer would be no, because
- 17:46no team in baseball can do that or will do that.
- 17:52The Red Sox will never do that. The Red Sox are not it.
- 17:55Henry will never do that and the Yankees have already come out
- 18:00and said they're not going to do that.
- 18:02They don't do that. That's not what the organization
- 18:05does. And and again, it doesn't work.
- 18:07Baseball over the years, it's been around, deferred, money's
- 18:10been around forever and nobody's done it or they've done it in
- 18:15increments. But the Dodgers have taken it to
- 18:17a whole nother level. And now baseball after next year
- 18:22is going to go on strike. They're going to go on strike.
- 18:25They're going to have to figure things out.
- 18:27Are these owners going to sit there and allow this to continue
- 18:33happening as the Dodgers continue to smile and win rings,
- 18:37Especially if the Dodgers pull off another championship next
- 18:41year to make it three in a row? The answer would be no.
- 18:45And if you're a baseball fan and you're going to next season
- 18:48wondering, well, I'm a Met fan. I'm, I'm not a Met fan, but I
- 18:52have met fan friends that say, oh, I'm a Met fan, I'm a lousy
- 18:55Met fan, or I'm, I'm a hated Met fan, or I'm I hate being a Met
- 18:59fan. The Mets built this team,
- 19:05bringing in Soto and Lindor, and they thought they were going to
- 19:07bring in Vladimir Guerrero in the offseason.
- 19:10Well, they missed out on that. But they're building by spending
- 19:13money and they're never going to get over the hump because
- 19:15there's no way in hell the Mets are going to beat the Dodgers.
- 19:19And, and what the Dodgers have put together over the last three
- 19:22seasons, there's no way in hell, Mets fans, not a chance.
- 19:25They keep bringing in Pete Alonso, Kyle Tucker and Bryce
- 19:29Harper. They're not beating the Dodgers.
- 19:32If the Dodgers are even half healthy, as we've seen, they've
- 19:36got healthy at the end of the season.
- 19:39That to me is bothersome. And everybody's going to say,
- 19:42well, wait a second, the Blue Jays gave them a challenge, OK.
- 19:46The Blue Jays gave them a challenge.
- 19:48Do you think this Blue Jays team is going to be in the World
- 19:51Series next year? The answer would be no.
- 19:54This is going to be a completely different team.
- 19:57They're not bringing Bichette back.
- 19:59They're not paying him. They just paid Vladimir Guerrero
- 20:02a lot of money. So.
- 20:04And now they have other pictures that they might not be able to
- 20:06bring back. Shane Bieber might be a free
- 20:08agent. He might go elsewhere.
- 20:11There are other guys that are free agents at the end of the
- 20:14season and after what they did in the World Series and
- 20:17throughout the playoffs, they're going to make themselves a lot
- 20:19of money. The Dodgers, this is practically
- 20:23the same team. They're all under contract.
- 20:26Every single one of these guys are under contract next year,
- 20:29and who's to say they're not going to add another one or two
- 20:32players or another relief pitcher and give them deferred
- 20:35money? That's what bothers me about
- 20:37this. And as a Yankee fan, I don't
- 20:39think the Yankees are going to win because no matter what the
- 20:43Yankees are going to do, the Yankees already said they're not
- 20:46doing this deferred money thing. And a lot of the players that
- 20:48the Yankees are even thought to pay deferred money to, they've
- 20:52already said no to it. So Kyle Tucker might go to the
- 20:57Dodgers if it helps him win a championship or two or three
- 21:00championships and take deferred money because he's going to get
- 21:03endorsement sponsorships. Who knows what the Dodgers are
- 21:06going to offer to Kyle Tucker if they think that Kyle Tucker
- 21:10would be a good fit with them. That's what bothers me about
- 21:14this. Because now that 1234 players,
- 21:18big superstars have done it, now everybody's looking at it saying
- 21:21I could go play for the Dodgers right now.
- 21:23I can win multiple championships.
- 21:25The Dodgers could win 5 championships in a row if I go
- 21:28to that team. And that's what bothers me about
- 21:30this. Not the fact that the Dodgers
- 21:32have figured out a way like Bill Belichick.
- 21:35He found ways to win. He found ways to trick the
- 21:39rulebook, to work in his favor, even though it was legal.
- 21:44A lot of coaches didn't think it was legal, but he found a way to
- 21:48make it work for the Patriots, make it work for him.
- 21:52And this is the same thing the Dodgers have figured out.
- 21:55Hey, this has been around for a long time.
- 21:56The Tampa Bay Rays did it for years with the shifting.
- 22:00Madden was the king of it. It was been shifting's been
- 22:03around forever since the 50s and the 60s.
- 22:06Joe Madden decided, hey, you know what, I'm going to do it in
- 22:10a I'm going to completely build my defense and my team around
- 22:14shifting around the ballpark. I'm going to look at analytics
- 22:18and I'm going to use the analytics to make sure that I
- 22:20could defend against every, every single player that comes
- 22:23to my ballpark or any other team's ballpark.
- 22:25And that's why the Rays were so successful over the years when
- 22:29Joe was there and they still using it now.
- 22:33Baseball has changed it. They've taken away shifting and
- 22:37in some kind of way, I mean, you can use it in different ways,
- 22:40but you really can't use it the way you used it.
- 22:43They used it and other teams have used it over the years
- 22:46through analytics. Baseball needs to figure out how
- 22:49to controlled control this deferred money situation.
- 22:54Because if they don't, the Dodgers are going to continue
- 22:57winning because players are going to want to go there.
- 23:00Players know they're going to make their money back and
- 23:02they're going to get paid and they can win titles and with
- 23:06titles brings superstardom and, and, and, and being compared to
- 23:11some of the greatest franchise of all time.
- 23:13Could you imagine the Dodgers win 5 championships in a row and
- 23:17be considered the New York Yankees Of what?
- 23:20What was that the 50s when they what, they won five in a row?
- 23:24I mean come on, just think about it.
- 23:26Because of the difference in and thought of different decades and
- 23:30the way the decades were played because there was no trades and
- 23:33there was no free agency at the time.
- 23:36It's a different sport now, and now the Dodgers can spin the
- 23:40wheel and make the deal. Yeah, We've always looked talked
- 23:43about like loopholes with these salary cap situations.
- 23:46Obviously we've seen we got mad at the NHL for with the Tampa
- 23:49Bay Lightning for doing that, for keeping their players on
- 23:51long term IR just for them to come back to the playoffs and
- 23:54then get them, get them healthy. In football.
- 23:56We've seen that kind of thing with converting signing bonuses
- 23:59into or converting base salary and a signing bonuses to get out
- 24:02of bad cap situations. But the difference with those
- 24:04two in this is the contracts are a lot bigger and they go for a
- 24:07longer period of time. In football, you can't sign sign
- 24:09a contract more than I believe 10 years.
- 24:11That was what Holmes his contract he signed in 2020.
- 24:14In baseball, you could sign an even longer than that as we've
- 24:16seen with certain coaches or certain players that have gotten
- 24:201516 year deals. And the the counter's going to
- 24:23be for the big market teams like the Yankees and the Mets to try
- 24:26to counter that, to do exactly what the Dodgers are doing and
- 24:28try to make it work for a middle market team.
- 24:30It's going to be what Java you have brought up many times and I
- 24:33have brought up years ago with the Braves, like them paying
- 24:35their players early but finding a balance to make it work
- 24:39because we've deferred. Money's been around for a while,
- 24:41but it was only used as an escape.
- 24:43It wasn't used as a pre contract strategy.
- 24:47The Orioles used it with Chris Davis's contract.
- 24:49The Mets used with Bobby Benia's contract and not have to pay
- 24:51them then. And now you're seeing him do it
- 24:53as a strategy to try to balance it out.
- 24:55If you're a middle market team, I think the philosophy probably
- 24:58has to shift it. All right, let's pay one guy a
- 25:00lot of money upfront like Toronto did with Vlad Junior,
- 25:03and then try to make it work with what you have on the roster
- 25:05after that. And maybe that's the counter to
- 25:07make it work. And for the low market teams,
- 25:09it's probably just get your owners to freaking spend.
- 25:12Otherwise you're not going to go anywhere at this point.
- 25:13Because in general, even before this Dodgers run, you generally
- 25:16had to have a top 12 payroll to win win a World Series title.
- 25:20The Rays have done very well the other teams.
- 25:22Kansas City didn't. OK.
- 25:24I'm just saying in general. Like I'm just saying Kansas City
- 25:27didn't and there are teams that have won without being a top 12
- 25:31spending team. So there there is a possibility.
- 25:34And but my problem here is, is that you're looking at this
- 25:39team, this Dodger team and nobody's taking shots at what
- 25:43the Dodgers have done, the success of the new, the, the LA
- 25:46Dodgers. I'm just saying that is this
- 25:49good for baseball? If you're a baseball fan, I know
- 25:52Jabba is an ex baseball player. He's a baseball enthusiast.
- 25:56I love baseball. I'm a Yankee fan.
- 25:58I follow baseball strategically every single year.
- 26:01There's a ton of baseball fans here in New York.
- 26:04Baseball has been America's pastime.
- 26:06So I, I'm bothered by it when I see the Dodgers pull off 2
- 26:11championships, 3 championships in six years.
- 26:14And there's nothing that tells me that this is not going to
- 26:17happen again next year. I expect the Dodgers to bring in
- 26:21another player, another superstar in the offseason and
- 26:24tell him, listen, you come here, you're going to win titles.
- 26:27All you got to do is take less money right now and we'll pay
- 26:30you later. 10 years from now, you'll be making all that money
- 26:34back. It might not be from me as the
- 26:36owner of the team. It might be from two other
- 26:38owners or another owner after I sell the team for $15 billion
- 26:43because the team's worth more because of all these
- 26:46championships. Josh in the comments section,
- 26:48anyone could do what Dodgers did it successfully, yes, and that's
- 26:50why I'm saying I. Think they're I'm not saying
- 26:52that. That's not the argument here.
- 26:54We all know everybody can do it, but nobody's going to do it as
- 26:58much and as good as the Dodgers have, because the Dodgers have
- 27:02set the what? What would you say?
- 27:04You set the field? They set the field now.
- 27:07And now with Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, all MVPS at the
- 27:11time, at the prime of their careers, and now Otani doing it,
- 27:15everybody sees it. Wow.
- 27:17I get to go and play with Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Shay
- 27:20Otani. Oh, by the way, a cornerstone
- 27:23pitcher now in Yamamamoto. I mean, come on, who would I
- 27:27want to play over there? Baseball needs to step in and do
- 27:29something about it. That's all I'm saying.
- 27:32And the players I think have to do those, that kind of thing
- 27:34too. The influence that Otani has
- 27:36from AI guess from a recruiting standpoint, we talk about it in
- 27:39the NBA more because of the players run league.
- 27:41But Otani had the influence with the Japanese players to bring
- 27:44Yamamoto and Sasaki there. Is that kind of thing going to
- 27:47happen with somebody else? Is Juan Soto going to say, it's
- 27:49not going to be Vlad now, but is Juan Soto going to say, all
- 27:51right, will you take deferred money?
- 27:52I'll pay you a little bit more in my 765 million to get
- 27:55somebody, the Mets or somebody with the Yankees, ETC.
- 27:57Maybe there's a player angle of that too, because we've decided
- 28:00many times there probably will be a lockout, but the players
- 28:02union in baseball is so strong they're not going to give in to
- 28:04a salary cap. No, I mean, you present really,
- 28:09really good questions, but it's just when you, when you say
- 28:12what, like what do the players do?
- 28:14The players want to win. So there's nothing that they're
- 28:17going to do to stop this in any way, shape or form.
- 28:21And there's nothing there that they would do, honestly, from
- 28:24the guys that I've talked to, current and former.
- 28:29And so I just think it's, there are obviously things you could,
- 28:33you could talk about on the table, you know, as far as like
- 28:36the open forums that we have every time that we have, you
- 28:39know, meetings and, and whatever.
- 28:41But I just I don't think that there's anything realistically
- 28:46that are there ideas 100% of what you could do?
- 28:49Yeah, but I don't think that it would ever come to fruition of
- 28:53anything being able to put into motion that would change it from
- 28:57from doing it. And and Speedy bring up a great
- 28:59point because it now it's kind of leverage.
- 29:02Now it's kind of like, hey, do this, we'll win.
- 29:04But you're still going to get paid.
- 29:06Just maybe not now where as back in the day it was kind of to to
- 29:10CYA, you know, to to cover your butt because it's like, hey, if
- 29:14it doesn't work and we can still get some guys and not, you know,
- 29:17still be able to compete and win.
- 29:19So it's kind of switched roles. If you really look at it as kind
- 29:23of what it was and and how it's been in the game a lot of years,
- 29:27just not at the forefront of what it is now.
- 29:31I think it's it's obvious. You bring up like the 90s, you
- 29:36know, Yankees teams, whatever. This this is exactly what we
- 29:39heard when we won an O 9 because the money we spent and now you
- 29:43look at the Yankees, their payroll is is middle there.
- 29:46I mean, it's higher, higher echelon, but not I mean, it's
- 29:49not like one or two as it was back then when we spent all the
- 29:53money on the guys and then we we ended up winning.
- 29:55But baseball also too. The best team doesn't
- 29:58necessarily win all the time. Do I think the Dodgers were the
- 30:00best team in, you know, in that series?
- 30:05No, but the ball just fell their way every time that you could
- 30:08think about it. And it that's just the way
- 30:11baseball works. Sometimes I I just don't I don't
- 30:13think. Will they have a chance with
- 30:17what they've constructed? Yes.
- 30:19I mean, on paper, yeah, they should be there again.
- 30:22You know, it's always funny when when the season's over, how fast
- 30:25these power rankings come out and you're just like, what?
- 30:28Like how? But and you also said, will the
- 30:30Blue Jays, you know, be back next year?
- 30:32Probably not. But were the Blue Jays expected
- 30:34to be there this year? No, they weren't.
- 30:38So you just it it's it's kind of tough as a player and that
- 30:45played for a little bit, but as a fan of baseball for longer
- 30:48than I would ever play the game no matter what, I don't hate it
- 30:53and I know some people will. And I think what also now like
- 30:59the more I take a step back and take like the baseball part of
- 31:04it away, other than the championships, whatever, the
- 31:08guys that are doing it are really, really likable guys.
- 31:11You know, Freddie Freeman's great.
- 31:13You know, you look at Kershaw, you look at me and obviously
- 31:15Kersh didn't didn't take whatever, but you know, he stood
- 31:18by these guys and like you root like these aren't the AJ
- 31:21Pierzynski's and and I don't know AJ personally, but he's one
- 31:25of those dudes you hated on your that when you played against
- 31:28him, but you loved him on your team.
- 31:30And but all these guys you root for and and you see, you know,
- 31:33all the things that they've done and and how you know they've
- 31:37came together and and you look at a guy that hadn't hit a
- 31:39Homer. You know, September was the last
- 31:42time Rojas hit a Homer and you don't expect him to hit Will
- 31:45Smith. It was Will Smith and you know
- 31:48he is that. So do I think it's good for
- 31:51baseball? Yes, I do.
- 31:55I really do. Because as you guys are both
- 31:58brought up in in in different ways now as AI guess, non big
- 32:05market, medium, whatever you want to call it.
- 32:08But now if you you have a guy and I'll use schemes as an
- 32:12example where they don't want to spend money.
- 32:15Now you have a guy stepping up and maybe he's like, hey, we've
- 32:18got to do so if we want to win and I want to stay here, then
- 32:21you got to spend money somehow, someway, because that's exactly
- 32:24what's happening. And we're not in.
- 32:26I, I would hate to be able to, to be on a team and collect a
- 32:29paycheck and know I can start my vacation, you know, October 1st.
- 32:33You know, that would suck. I don't, I don't play the game
- 32:36and I hope a lot of guys don't play the game for that reason
- 32:39other than just collect a paycheck.
- 32:40I don't think they do. There are some that do I, I know
- 32:43a few personally, but, and that stinks because they're just
- 32:46really good at baseball but don't care about the game.
- 32:48There's, there's plenty of, there's one collecting a
- 32:51paycheck right now that could care 2 craps about baseball.
- 32:54And I won't mention him, but his initials are AR and he plays
- 32:57infield third base. But you guys can get the point.
- 33:01So I, I think it is because it forces the hand of the owners
- 33:05because really at the end of the day, every owner can do it.
- 33:07They're all do it and they're making a million no matter what.
- 33:11Will they do it? Do people view it as it's bad
- 33:16for the game? And and I can see why I'm not
- 33:19disagreeing that that there aren't parts of it where it it
- 33:23does, because now it's like it just sucks as parody in the
- 33:27game. And we've seen it where it's
- 33:30like, OK, you expect these things of like the teams that
- 33:38are supposed to be in it all the time.
- 33:40And so it's really one of those good in certain context and and
- 33:47bad in other contexts. I just, I don't know if there's
- 33:50a way to regulate it. I really wish there was kind of
- 33:53more like I guess. You got to limit how much you
- 33:57could spend a year for like a deferred money.
- 34:00If there was, and I guess the only, what is the way to say it
- 34:03Like not a cap, but like, hey, every team has this.
- 34:07It's kind of like the way you go above the luxury tax, right?
- 34:11This team, every team gets a certain percent of it did now
- 34:15just because they they spend so much, do they get, you know, do
- 34:20they get to spend more or does this team that didn't spend or I
- 34:23don't know the the right way or do you brainstorm and just a
- 34:27round table it up and and throw ideas and see what happens?
- 34:30Are you thinking like a budget of like 5 years of deferred
- 34:33money and you get to use it in increments type thing?
- 34:36Like like any structure as far as where you do it over time or
- 34:40you do it over like year to year.
- 34:42And if you don't use it, like is it like remember roll over
- 34:45minutes? Do you get to roll that over in
- 34:46the next year because you didn't use it?
- 34:48Or hey, if you don't use it, you lose it?
- 34:50So I, I, honestly, I, I don't know what would be better for
- 34:54the game. I like it because it forces the
- 34:56hand sometimes of the owners to try and do certain things.
- 35:00But I also like if you're a player and wants to win and you
- 35:02get a play with the Mookie bets and the Freddy's and the
- 35:05Yamamotos and the and Otanis, sign me up.
- 35:08If I'm if I'm making $4 million less, but I'm still going to
- 35:10make it on the back end and I want to win and and have a
- 35:13really good clubhouse, then heck yeah, why would I not?
- 35:16Well, that's not that's not the argument here.
- 35:18The argument here is that I believe that this is not
- 35:21beneficial for baseball. If, if baseball and some of
- 35:24these teams want to compete with the Dodgers for the future,
- 35:27baseball needs to figure out how to control it.
- 35:30If they don't figure out how to control it, you're going to have
- 35:33the next Japanese player wanting to go and play with Otani and
- 35:37Yamamoto and Sasaki. How is that beneficial for other
- 35:41teams to compete with the Dodgers?
- 35:44How about the National League when you're going into a season
- 35:46knowing that you don't have a chance against the Dodgers?
- 35:50And by the way, for all you Ohtani fans that thought Ohtani
- 35:55was the greatest baseball player of all time, well, let's look at
- 35:59the two pitching opportunities he had in this series.
- 36:02They weren't good. He pitched in game #7 in the
- 36:06first 3 innings. Do you want to look at his
- 36:09numbers, guys? I, I, I.
- 36:11The fact here is I'm not saying Otani isn't special.
- 36:14He's special. He's unique as they call him the
- 36:17Unicorn, as we've heard a rod say it, Derek Jeter say it, and
- 36:23everybody else say it. That's great.
- 36:25He pitched 2.1 innings, five hits, three runs and three
- 36:30innings. His and his ERA was a 7.56 in
- 36:35those in in that game and even in in the game before that he
- 36:40didn't pitch very well. Now he hits and he's hit well in
- 36:44this series and he's hit well pretty much throughout the
- 36:48playoffs. Even though he was I think
- 36:50throughout the playoffs he was 245 hitter or something of that
- 36:52magnitude. I don't have the numbers in
- 36:54front of me, but if they weren't he wasn't hitting 300 throughout
- 36:57the playoffs. The fact here is you have to
- 37:01understand something when you're comparing the greatest baseball
- 37:04players of all time. You got to show up in the big
- 37:07games and you got to do it in every kind of way.
- 37:10That's why. That's why guys like Alex
- 37:12Rodriguez was attacked all those years until he showed up in 2009
- 37:17and put the Yankees on his shoulders.
- 37:20It doesn't work if you don't do it in the big games.
- 37:22Nobody cares what you do in the regular season.
- 37:25No, but. You can't say.
- 37:26You can't say Judge is one of the best in because he's no he's
- 37:28not. No, I didn't say his.
- 37:30One, I'm just I'm agreeing with him.
- 37:33I'm I'm not saying Aaron Judge and Otani have not proven
- 37:36themselves to be great in the playoffs.
- 37:38Aaron Judge finally in this playoff run he had, he was
- 37:41batting 500. But we don't know what we don't
- 37:44know. But how does that not go in?
- 37:46You look at a dude like an help with the Giants when he went
- 37:49off. And if you look at his career
- 37:50playoff numbers, they're pretty stupid, but you're going to
- 37:53consider him in the biggest stages to be one of the best.
- 37:55Carlos Beltran, Albert Pools was a great player.
- 37:58Albert Pools, I mean, but they showed up great, yeah, but they
- 38:01showed up in the playoffs. And if you had you.
- 38:04Just said in the biggest games they're the.
- 38:06Biggest games, yeah, I'm giving you great.
- 38:09I'm giving you great players that were great in the regular
- 38:11season and showed up in the playoffs.
- 38:15Miguel Cabrera was also great player.
- 38:17You play with Miguel Mickey, you, you know how great he was
- 38:21great. One of the greatest hitters, one
- 38:22of the greatest right handeders of all time.
- 38:25When it came down to when it came down to the playoffs, was
- 38:29he not showing up in the playoffs?
- 38:30He was one of the best hitters in the playoffs.
- 38:32You couldn't pitch around the guy.
- 38:34He hit everything. You have to show up in the big
- 38:38stages and I don't care what Ohtani has done in his career in
- 38:42the regular season. Until he does that and until
- 38:45he's unstoppable in the playoffs, I'm not putting him
- 38:49with Babe Ruth. I'm not putting them with the
- 38:51greatest. Everybody stoppable in the
- 38:52playoffs, dudes. I mean the greatest.
- 38:55They still fail 70% of the time. I'm just saying, I'm telling you
- 38:59right now to me, I look at Otani.
- 39:01He's not an everyday player. He's a pitcher every fifth day
- 39:05and he's a DH. OK, so David Ortiz isn't isn't a
- 39:09great player since he's no not an everyday player because.
- 39:11First, first of all, first of all.
- 39:13But you just said he just DH. I didn't say Otani wasn't a
- 39:16great player. I'm not saying Otani is not a
- 39:19great player. I'm not putting.
- 39:21I'm not. I'm not putting Otani as A to me
- 39:25when I look at a player you and I'm looking at comparison to the
- 39:28great players in the league, Aaron Judge being one of them or
- 39:32even Cal rally. If you're going to ask me right
- 39:34now, who am I building my team around?
- 39:36I'm building around one of those guys.
- 39:38I'm not building around Shayo Otani because he only pitches
- 39:41every fifth day. I don't care what he does.
- 39:44I don't care what he does when he's ADH hitter and how many
- 39:46bases he steals. To me, if if we see Otani play
- 39:50on a bad team with the Angels, we've also seen Mike Trout play
- 39:53on a bad team. This guy was the best player in
- 39:55baseball For how many years did they win?
- 39:58Did they win? No, they didn't win.
- 39:59Oh, Tony had to go to the Dodgers with the deferred money,
- 40:02with Friedman and Mookie Betts and all those superstars to win.
- 40:06OK. And that's all I'm saying He had
- 40:09to buy. What's wrong with that?
- 40:10But my child hasn't won diddly score.
- 40:12That's funny you. Want him to stay with the
- 40:14angels? I'm telling you, he bought his
- 40:15championships. That's what I'm saying.
- 40:17And I don't care what you say, fish.
- 40:18That's what I look at. You bought your championship.
- 40:21And so he was comparison comparatus to Ted Williams and
- 40:25Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle, guys that were pretty much on those
- 40:29teams besides Babe Ruth being sold to the Yankees, Mickey
- 40:33Mantle, Yogi Barrel, all those guys, they were.
- 40:36I don't really think that's fair.
- 40:38Well, OK, I don't want to hear your take to it.
- 40:41Just give me your take and get off.
- 40:42I don't want to hear. Just said you don't want to.
- 40:44Hear my I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear what you're
- 40:46going. To say about Otani, I won't.
- 40:47Say, I don't want to hear what you have to say about Otani.
- 40:49I really don't. I've heard enough about it.
- 40:51I've heard enough with you, with the oh Donny thing.
- 40:54That's it. Let's hear what you got to say
- 40:56about the World Series. That's it.
- 40:59The whole point is they don't need Otani to be Babe Ruth.
- 41:01He's one of five guys they could throw at you in the World
- 41:05Series. You realize that he's their 4th
- 41:07best pitcher then in the World Series for them?
- 41:10That's pretty ridiculous considering Yamamoto played like
- 41:14no one's really ever played in the World Series with three
- 41:17wins, 1 ERA. It's like Randy Johnson type
- 41:20stuff that we're sick we saw out of him.
- 41:23And then you have Snell, who was great, Glasno who was great.
- 41:28I'm sure I'm forgetting somebody.
- 41:29I know I'm forgetting one of them, but they just kept
- 41:31throwing guys at you and Otani's just one of those guys as a
- 41:35pitcher. And he wasn't bad necessarily,
- 41:37he just wasn't great. Gave up that three run home run
- 41:40to Bichette and he got the two inherited runs after the two
- 41:43runs. His era in the World Series was
- 41:456. It's not good, but I'm.
- 41:46Telling you how he got all the runs.
- 41:47He gave up five runs and two inherited runs. 6 That's what
- 41:51I'm going to say 6. All right, well.
- 41:53Greatest player of all time would not be pitching a. 6th of
- 41:56the. Game in a World Series.
- 41:57No one's saying that. No one cares.
- 41:58You kept. You kept saying you don't want
- 42:00to hear me talk about. You keep making it about Otani.
- 42:02You brought up Otani. You just brought up Otani again.
- 42:05Well, he's on the team that we're talking about, dummy.
- 42:08Spit it out. Don't call me a dummy, man.
- 42:10Don't call me. Well then stop telling me call
- 42:11me a dummy. Dude, don't call me a dummy.
- 42:13Don't call me a dummy. Sorry.
- 42:15Don't call me a dummy, buddy. Don't call me a dummy.
- 42:19I could. I could attack what you're
- 42:20doing. I can keep you up alive right
- 42:22now and just attack. Everything that you're saying,
- 42:24stop nobody. Cares about that arrow.
- 42:26I'm trying to talk about this thing and you just don't want to
- 42:30let me. You want to talk about Otani and
- 42:32how you have to be right about Otani and nobody cares about
- 42:34Otani like that. I'm just telling you that he's
- 42:37makes that team better. Like I tried to tell you last
- 42:39time and that's all. That's all it is and it's really
- 42:43important to understand that why they lost had nothing to do with
- 42:46that. I don't.
- 42:46I think it's the clutchness of this team with the manager.
- 42:50I mean, they brought in Andy Pajez to get that.
- 42:52It makes that crazy catch immediately after they bring him
- 42:54in for Edmond, that helped save the day.
- 42:57That's a great managerial move. They won the game in 18 innings.
- 43:01That's a devastating loss. Then the game, I mean, game six,
- 43:04we haven't even talked about game six.
- 43:06Man, Game 6 was crazy. That ball gets sort of stuck
- 43:10under the wall in in left center that that's not really stuck.
- 43:15Like if he went there he could have grabbed it very easily.
- 43:17It wasn't like. That did you see fish to Kiki,
- 43:20being the salty veteran that he is, he wasn't going to throw his
- 43:25hands up. He looked at Kiki when he was
- 43:27running over and Kiki was looking in the infield throwing
- 43:30his hands up. Before he got to what because he
- 43:32knew that was probably their only chance to limit what was
- 43:35going on right there. A younger guy doesn't do that.
- 43:38You know, it's such an important thing to mention about that.
- 43:42And then the doubling off of Barger on like the very next
- 43:45play, which is unbelievable where the.
- 43:48Hell, was he going? I see now that's the one I
- 43:52wanted to ask you, Jabba, in that situation, you would think
- 43:56that he's got to stay close to the bag at at all costs on
- 43:59anything in the air, I would have thought.
- 44:01Well, he's not first of all, he's not going anywhere because
- 44:05he has a runner in front of him, right?
- 44:07And you take his credit to, I mean, he owned it.
- 44:10He was like, yeah, that was on me.
- 44:11I got off too far. Like, but realistically, if the
- 44:14ball gets past him, he's fast, he's going to score anyways.
- 44:19But then he's in. You see, you check the outfield
- 44:23on second base, you turn around and check them, right?
- 44:26So you see that he's he's edging in and he has an OK arm.
- 44:30Not great, but what where was he?
- 44:34I that one that ending like that, that's the craziest and
- 44:37it's first of all, it's the craziest ending ever in the
- 44:40World Series history. 3 pitches first ever save at any level
- 44:47only person. The four pitches was the save in
- 44:50the World Series. But to come in and do that,
- 44:52you're like this game is about to be.
- 44:54It should should it have been tied?
- 44:55I don't know the rule. They everybody kind of, I guess,
- 44:59interpreted the rule kind of their own way, but the way it
- 45:02says, it's basically a judgement called by the umpire.
- 45:07And it might be different on the parks too.
- 45:08It's probably. Yeah, well, you go over ground
- 45:11rules before every, so you like the umpires and whatever.
- 45:15Like you go over rules like hey, this part here, you know, raise
- 45:18your hands, this that another thing.
- 45:19So you kind of have an idea, but it like it's just amazing, like
- 45:25how all these little things happened all in the Dodgers
- 45:28favorite and you really honestly need that sometimes.
- 45:31Do I think to? Be like something with like the
- 45:34juju of the team, the coaching, the direction, you know of the
- 45:38franchise. It just it's too much.
- 45:41Ronald over my guess the numbers too said the same thing.
- 45:45If they went into a Game 7, the road teams won the last six of
- 45:47seven, so now seven of eight. That's the case in a lot of
- 45:49sports too. I don't think it's the NBA, but
- 45:51the NHL and MLB are both Rd. Favors.
- 45:54Yeah, on the end of Game 7, which is, which is nuts.
- 45:56You wouldn't think it would be right.
- 45:58Especially, you would think, bigger cities.
- 46:00Yeah, especially bigger. Cities do you?
- 46:03Think so too. Go ahead, Java.
- 46:06No, I, I looked at it too like everybody's like, oh, they
- 46:09wanted the Dodgers to win, blah, blah, blah.
- 46:11And if if you're looking at from the business side, it was the
- 46:13most watched games in the World Series since 2017 with over
- 46:1725,000,000, right. Yeah.
- 46:18So do you think too there was in aspect of Major League Baseball
- 46:25is like, yeah, maybe it's not as big, but now we have two
- 46:28different countries. Like you may not like either
- 46:31team, right? But it's literally like, hey,
- 46:35but we have two countries going against each other and it showed
- 46:39in viewership, right, Because now you have all the Canadians
- 46:42who you know what, and Rodgers center is awesome to play in
- 46:45whether they know anything about baseball or not.
- 46:48I mean, since they've been good and have guys that they can root
- 46:50for, they've obviously showed out a little bit better.
- 46:53But baseball got what they wanted, even if it wasn't the
- 46:56teams that they wanted because they got the global part in, not
- 46:59only in the Japanese, but you got a whole other country in
- 47:02Canada and obviously a major market in LA.
- 47:06So if you're looking at it from a business sense, and it was a
- 47:10great world, you got everything that you could ever imagined in
- 47:12a World Series. You know, it actually that that
- 47:15brings up something I've been meaning to ask Errol and I
- 47:17haven't got a chance to talk to him today, but I was.
- 47:19So we're going to do it on the air.
- 47:20Errol, do you think the ratings can be given some credit to Rob
- 47:25Manfred and Theo Epstein for their changes to the game and
- 47:30getting more people involved in like in the game, despite the
- 47:34fact we don't like all of them? First of all, you can ask me
- 47:38anything you want about Theo Epstein and Rob Manfred.
- 47:41I think Theo Epstein is a genius.
- 47:43Rob Manford is to me a complete moron.
- 47:46I, I've never liked Rob Manford. I, I'm not a a fan of his as, as
- 47:52far as what I've seen him do over the last couple of years,
- 47:55changing the game and, and as Alex Rodriguez says, making the
- 47:58game better. Alex does a lot of kissing And,
- 48:01and I'm, I'm that's fine. He works for the, the MLB, he
- 48:04works for Fox and he's around these guys.
- 48:07So you want to kiss somebody's ass, you kiss it.
- 48:09I'm not going to kiss the brass ring.
- 48:11I'm going to say that Rob Manford, he, he has the position
- 48:15right now as the Commission. We'll see what happens when it
- 48:18comes to the future and where he is going to be in the in the
- 48:21very near future. He says he's going to retire in
- 48:242026 or 28, whatever he said, hopefully soon.
- 48:30Is it beneficial for baseball to keep him in, in that position?
- 48:33I don't know. I, I, I don't know what Rob
- 48:35Manford should why anybody would give Rob Manford credit?
- 48:39How about just giving the superstars credit?
- 48:42How about Vladimir Guerrero? He's a superstar.
- 48:44How about Ohtani, as you say, as you guys say, the greatest
- 48:48player of all time And and, and again everybody keeps talking
- 48:51about well. Yes, I've never said he's the
- 48:53greatest player of all time. I don't put words in I I didn't
- 48:56put words in your mouth. I'm.
- 48:57Saying, yeah, you did. You just said.
- 48:58Everybody. No, I said what?
- 49:00You guys, everybody buddy you. No, you're not.
- 49:04You're yourself. I say.
- 49:05You guys, everybody. Everybody.
- 49:07No, that's not what I said. And that everybody, buddy.
- 49:09I said no, I, I first of all, like a general public.
- 49:13I'm talking about the general. Public, I know, Speedy.
- 49:16I what I'm trying to say here is, is that I I'm not saying
- 49:20Shay Otani isn't special. I'm not saying Shay Otani
- 49:22doesn't deserve credit. I'm not saying that Rob Manford
- 49:27isn't the person that could take this league to the next level.
- 49:32I just see what I see and I think that he's ruined the game
- 49:35in my eyes. I don't think he's benefit.
- 49:37He the league hasn't benefited off of anything but the fact
- 49:41that you have an international player as big as Shay Otani and
- 49:44no matter what he does, good or bad, he's he's looked at as the
- 49:49the the face of the league no matter what he does.
- 49:52And here's another thing everybody keeps talking about
- 49:55how much baseball loved the World Series, how it drew
- 49:59Japanese players and Canadian players and American fans all
- 50:04around the world to watch it. Here's something that you guys
- 50:07don't understand. Has anybody go?
- 50:08I know Jabba, you've been has anybody gone to Canada?
- 50:12I have. I go every single year.
- 50:15And if you go around Canada and you go check out the malls and
- 50:20around the streets and you go to the baseball, I mean the Hockey
- 50:23Hall of Fame and you go out to the bars, what do you see out
- 50:26there? You see a lot of Asian, Asian
- 50:31population. It's an Asian populated place
- 50:34and Indian and they love their baseball over there.
- 50:38Believe it or not. Baseball is right there with not
- 50:43as big as hockey but it's right under.
- 50:45Everybody thinks basketball after the Raptors won a
- 50:47championship. No, the Blue Jays are the second
- 50:51biggest team in Toronto. They are.
- 50:55It's not the Raptors, it's the Blue Jays.
- 50:59It's also where you go in Canada though.
- 51:01Yes, and, and, and that's why I think the Expo what?
- 51:03Province. What province you go to?
- 51:05Yeah, but I I've always said this and you say it too.
- 51:08The Expo should be brought back to. 100% I want them brought
- 51:12back just because uniforms are dope.
- 51:15I don't know about that. I, I mean, I, I guess that's
- 51:17what you would like. I mean, I, I mean, I want to see
- 51:21Pedro Martinez, you know, go back to go back to Montreal and,
- 51:26and be, you know, the face of the organization of Vladimir,
- 51:29Vladimir Guerrero senior or one of those guys to go back there
- 51:33and be a part of that organization and be a voice for
- 51:36that organization. So that's what I want to say.
- 51:38I think I think it, it, it has legs from what I've heard to, to
- 51:42sneak in to be one of those three that because we've we've
- 51:45talked about it before, but they've got the infrastructure.
- 51:47They've they've had it before and you have legacy names that
- 51:52were exposed that are still involved in the game in some
- 51:55way, shape or form. So it's not like it would be
- 51:58hard to do. I would, I would love for them
- 52:01to go back for sure. I think and I think it would be
- 52:04great for the game. Thank you to all the fans.

- 53:05announcement. All right, so at 8:45, joining
- 53:07us will be Tim Donaghy. Check out his book Personal
- 53:10Foul, his autobiography. It gets in very in depth with
- 53:14the NBA betting scandal, what he was arrested for, and now we're
- 53:17seeing what many others are being investigated and arrested.
- 53:20For isn't it fitting that all this is happening and now
- 53:24Donaghy is coming out with a book and and now it's starting.
- 53:28Everything's starting to hit the fan about the NBA and Donaghy's
- 53:31been talking about it for a long, long time.
- 53:34I think this is very, very fitting.
- 53:37And I'm I'm going to have a lot of fun with this interview.
- 53:40I'm going to tell you this right now.
- 53:42It's a must listen to. If you don't know who Tim
- 53:45Donaghy is, look it up and look him up.
- 53:49He was a part, I remember, of the Sacramento Lakers series,
- 53:55Sacramento Spurs Series A. He has been a big part of the
- 54:00back end of the NBA and why the NBA is really trying to protect
- 54:04themselves with these betting scandals and I think he is.
- 54:08I'm going to get out some interesting information for all
- 54:12the fans that are into the NBA and sports betting.
- 54:15Why Tim Donaghy shouldn't be I wouldn't say he's not.
- 54:20He wasn't a problem, but he shouldn't be all to blame what
- 54:24the NBA is transitioned into. That's that's my opinion and I
- 54:27think Tim Donaghy is going to express his feelings towards
- 54:31towards the NBA when he comes on this show on Wednesday.
- 54:34So stay tuned and get ready for a great interview.
- 54:37We're very excited for this. This is something very, very big
- 54:41and he's been only on a couple of shows, a couple of marketing
- 54:45shows and for him to come on our show says a lot about what he
- 54:49thinks of us. So we really appreciate him for
- 54:51joining us on Wednesday. That's it.
- 54:55We'll talk to you Wednesday. Good night, everybody.
