- 0:18Speaker 2: I always wondered that. Welcome back to artists on artists
- 0:26Speaker 2: on artists on artists, And boy do we have a
- 0:29Speaker 2: little bit of a musical note one for you today.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And no, we're not talking about singers or even the
- 0:37Speaker 1: people who sing on Broadway. No, no, we're talking about
- 0:41Speaker 1: background music, or some would say the score.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Composers tend to be the heart of every film, television show,
- 0:50Speaker 5: or other multi media production, including Internet content, and no
- 0:55Speaker 5: film production or television production or Internet medium content to
- 1:00Speaker 5: be the same without it.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Let's pull up a chair, sit on down and take
- 1:05Speaker 3: out our notes. Let's take notes. Here we go, let's
- 1:10Speaker 3: listen it.
- 1:15Speaker 6: And then I said, put that violin down.
- 1:23Speaker 4: It was so insane.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Wow, guys, can't believe we're all here together.
- 1:28Speaker 5: It's really nice to be here with all of you today.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I should introduce myself. My name is Carl Heinz Stott.
- 1:35Speaker 5: I am a movie composer with a lot of big movies.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Anedo wants to yo, what's up?
- 1:43Speaker 2: My name is Dank and I of course was in
- 1:47Speaker 2: the band forty two for Fighting and now I have
- 1:51Speaker 2: transitioned for the last ten years to do a music composition.
- 1:54Speaker 7: Hello, What's up? My name is Harlem Shake. Add to
- 1:57Speaker 7: the original songwriting original songs for every movie.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Hi am Tricia Johnson and I am a music composer
- 2:06Speaker 1: for commercials, or at least I was. I've been blackballed.
- 2:11Speaker 6: I'm Diego zimmer Has zimmer Sun. Excited to be here.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Wow, guys, seriously, seriously, this is really exciting for me because,
- 2:23Speaker 2: like I feel like I'm sitting with honestly, like a
- 2:26Speaker 2: room of my idols, like the people that got me
- 2:28Speaker 2: into this creat He's.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Really wonderful to see all of you together because when
- 2:32Speaker 5: I look at you, I hear your music voices. So
- 2:36Speaker 5: it's really funny to hear your vocal voices, don't you know?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Do you know how I'm saying totally totally. I would
- 2:45Speaker 2: just like to take a second and just say, like
- 2:48Speaker 2: I feel like that's one of the most amazing parts
- 2:50Speaker 2: about music is that we can all sound so differently
- 2:53Speaker 2: and yet all work in the same field.
- 2:55Speaker 7: Well, I'm not one of that, but there's you know,
- 2:57Speaker 7: like you had those flutes and their recoverers, drums, trunk
- 3:01Speaker 7: or there's so many different hands of instruments. Am I wrong?
- 3:06Speaker 5: You are saying something that is very true, Yes, something
- 3:10Speaker 5: that is really true. There's a lot of instruments.
- 3:13Speaker 4: This is my question. I actually had.
- 3:17Speaker 5: A question that I had was it's my son's love Internet.
- 3:23Speaker 5: You know, memes and stuff, and I see a lot
- 3:25Speaker 5: of I see a lot of one gotta goal. If
- 3:28Speaker 5: do you guys have if if if I say one
- 3:31Speaker 5: gotta goal in a score, you know, drums, piano, I'm
- 3:37Speaker 5: telling you all of them, drums, piano, guitar, one gotta go?
- 3:41Speaker 4: Which one? What are you saying one gotta go?
- 3:45Speaker 7: You know you have to answer yes, I know the
- 3:47Speaker 7: answer to that, because guess what all of it can girl,
- 3:50Speaker 7: because the most important instrument is No.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I was going to say drums, so you're not you're
- 3:57Speaker 1: not a drum guy.
- 3:59Speaker 4: No, at Harlem.
- 4:00Speaker 5: I I was going to bring up your voice, by
- 4:03Speaker 5: the way, because all of your movies you do all
- 4:06Speaker 5: of the sounds.
- 4:07Speaker 7: Your legend, your legend, Yeah, thank you. You know. I started,
- 4:12Speaker 7: of course on die Hard, which I wrote the original
- 4:14Speaker 7: song for which they didn't use in the movie, but
- 4:17Speaker 7: they pay me out of me the well, you guys
- 4:19Speaker 7: know what happened. I meane the die Hard song that
- 4:22Speaker 7: Dieu that man and I'm growling through the event.
- 4:29Speaker 3: God, that is so good.
- 4:32Speaker 7: Yeah, but they didn't use it in the movie. So
- 4:34Speaker 7: I stood them. And now I have to make the
- 4:36Speaker 7: song for every movie and they pay me for it,
- 4:38Speaker 7: but they don't have to use it. Do you understand?
- 4:40Speaker 4: Oh, it's it little. I'm kind of a prison of
- 4:43Speaker 4: your own making in a way.
- 4:44Speaker 7: Oh, but I love it. If you name any movie
- 4:46Speaker 7: I have written a song for it, even if they
- 4:48Speaker 7: didn't use it. I got paid at least twenty K.
- 4:52Speaker 2: That's insane. So most movies that.
- 4:55Speaker 7: Have twenty o K, y'all think of every movie you've
- 4:57Speaker 7: ever seen, and then times that. But twenty k. I
- 5:00Speaker 7: buy fifty percent for my manager and then another thirty
- 5:02Speaker 7: for my wife. And that's how much I have.
- 5:05Speaker 4: What about the Avengers number one?
- 5:08Speaker 7: Avengers? That was a short one, but there was What
- 5:13Speaker 7: about Girls Gone? Wow? Girls Gone Wow, ty nipple, take
- 5:19Speaker 7: you she's drunk. It's okay.
- 5:25Speaker 6: That one I really like especially and not just because
- 5:27Speaker 6: of the tits, but that one has a melody and
- 5:30Speaker 6: it has a message too.
- 5:31Speaker 4: What about hurt Locker?
- 5:34Speaker 7: Oh, oh, that one hurts hurt Locker. Hurt me Locker?
- 5:38Speaker 7: Why go on and hurt me Locker?
- 5:43Speaker 2: I remember that, and I remember that because that was
- 5:46Speaker 2: also another lawsuit, the hurt Locker one, because they were
- 5:49Speaker 2: saying it's so drastically different than the movie. Ye, hurt
- 5:53Speaker 2: Locker is the story about in America.
- 5:55Speaker 7: But actually I won that lawsuit, and that's so that
- 5:58Speaker 7: song is at the very very end of the You
- 6:00Speaker 7: watch the end of the credits, wait seven minutes in
- 6:02Speaker 7: pure black screen, and then you will hear hurt mid
- 6:05Speaker 7: Locker really really quiet. You have to turn your remote
- 6:08Speaker 7: control all the oil.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Wow.
- 6:09Speaker 7: But it's on there because I won the lawsuit.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Like when the movie theater people are cleaning up the trash.
- 6:13Speaker 7: Yeah, there were a lot of them actually do their
- 6:16Speaker 7: job to my soundtrack sounds like it.
- 6:19Speaker 2: That's wow. This is you know, like for me, because
- 6:22Speaker 2: I feel still so new to this industry, like five
- 6:25Speaker 2: to ten years, you know, and like I come from
- 6:28Speaker 2: a pop punk background, so like that's where I'm getting
- 6:30Speaker 2: a lot of my influences.
- 6:31Speaker 7: What's pop punk?
- 6:32Speaker 2: Pop punk?
- 6:33Speaker 7: Pop punk background?
- 6:34Speaker 2: Pop punk? You know, pop punk. It's like music that
- 6:38Speaker 2: it's a little whiny and it's like very like guitar
- 6:41Speaker 2: garage back. It kind of is like, hey, welcome to
- 6:44Speaker 2: the third locker.
- 6:46Speaker 7: Heard mid locker?
- 6:48Speaker 6: Yeah well no, no, Tricia, you said that you are
- 6:53Speaker 6: black fault. I'm really interested what that is, because I
- 6:56Speaker 6: just want to say off the bat, I feel really
- 6:59Speaker 6: humble to be here.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I'm fourteen.
- 7:02Speaker 6: I don't write that much music, but I have been
- 7:05Speaker 6: writing since I was a kid. I am nominated, but
- 7:08Speaker 6: I just haven't been in the business like you guys.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah so you say you're fourteen, Yeah, I'm fourteen. Okay.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Can I give you a little bit of advice.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Please, Trisia, I just want advice from all of you guys.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Just get out now, get out all you can, because
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know, one day you're composing for the Lion King,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and then the next day you're in a Carl's Junior
- 7:28Speaker 1: commercial and they're telling you you're using way too much Obo,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and we think you stole that obo sound from a
- 7:35Speaker 1: different artist. We think you copied and pasted that from
- 7:38Speaker 1: your desktop onto our files when you were drunk, you
- 7:42Speaker 1: know what I mean.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So that that's what happened. That's why you're blackbald well.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You know, here's the thing. Every once in a while,
- 7:50Speaker 1: somebody makes a mistake, right totally. You go to burning Man,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you come back to your job composing, and you mix
- 8:00Speaker 1: up some files and people think that you stole some content,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you know, and you know, it happened again. It happened again.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I was working on this, uh, this commercial for Sea World.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I was trying to make the whales look like they
- 8:12Speaker 1: weren't sad, and I, you know, I was wasted in
- 8:17Speaker 1: the morning and I sort of I mixed up the files.
- 8:21Speaker 1: One of them said happy whale and the other said
- 8:25Speaker 1: happy by Farrell, and I accidentally dragged Happy by Farrell
- 8:28Speaker 1: into the Google drive. And now everybody thinks of some
- 8:32Speaker 1: sort of cheater, like of some sort of thief. But
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know what, it's all bullshit. So kid, get out
- 8:37Speaker 1: what you can, you know, get out while you can,
- 8:39Speaker 1: because everyone's going to spin a narrative value that's not true.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Did you call your dad? I find that when I
- 8:44Speaker 3: call my dad in the middle of a problem. It
- 8:46Speaker 3: usually helps.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Yeah, my dad is I don't know where he is.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He's usually on the road. He's like a traveling clown
- 8:53Speaker 1: or something. I don't really know.
- 8:56Speaker 5: That's really hard. I'm sorry to hear that shit. I
- 9:00Speaker 5: would like to offer a counterpoint that it is not bullshit.
- 9:02Speaker 5: It's actually a really great job and I love it.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it's my advice for you as a little
- 9:07Speaker 5: boy is to write and all the sounds to hear
- 9:10Speaker 5: all the time, because you don't know the kind of
- 9:12Speaker 5: thing is going to come along. So there is a
- 9:15Speaker 5: chance that you know, oh, I'm writing a movie about
- 9:20Speaker 5: a man made of metal. But I remember that there
- 9:24Speaker 5: was a time when I heard a can hit another can.
- 9:27Speaker 2: In the store.
- 9:28Speaker 5: And then you go to somebody who is in charge
- 9:31Speaker 5: of music and you say, hey, you have drums, let's
- 9:34Speaker 5: knock this drum into this bass guitar. And then that's
- 9:37Speaker 5: the noise, and that's kind of the tham and I.
- 9:40Speaker 7: Would ask I would want to add to that too,
- 9:42Speaker 7: like if you hear a noise come out of your
- 9:44Speaker 7: body or your mouth, or like but giant or like
- 9:47Speaker 7: any kind of skin or Okay, then you can use
- 9:55Speaker 7: that song. Also that noise to make music too, Like
- 9:58Speaker 7: once I saw a ghost my part or thought I did,
- 10:01Speaker 7: but I was actually a cleanex and I said, and
- 10:04Speaker 7: I heard this noise my throat And you recognize that
- 10:09Speaker 7: from mulan, right.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Mulone, I remember the exact woman you're talking about.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Song, Christina Applegate song.
- 10:22Speaker 7: That's what Christina Aguilera didn't want to sing it. She
- 10:25Speaker 7: didn't know if she could do it both. In some versions,
- 10:28Speaker 7: when the girls singing into the mirror, that's the song
- 10:30Speaker 7: that's playing. Molon.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Now that you sing it, I hear a woman being
- 10:37Speaker 6: scared by a ghost. It's crazy, the duality of these things.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Like I guess my advice would be, like,
- 10:44Speaker 2: you know the same, like music is kind of everywhere,
- 10:47Speaker 2: and if you just kind of fuck it and do
- 10:49Speaker 2: your life, you know, fucket and do your life biddle,
- 10:54Speaker 2: then you're good to go. You know, you got to
- 10:59Speaker 2: live like I'm fine songs anywhere. One time, I fucking
- 11:02Speaker 2: hit this vape so hard and I started coughing, and
- 11:06Speaker 2: then I just had this thought. It was damn coughing's
- 11:10Speaker 2: tough boom. What do you think that was? That was
- 11:14Speaker 2: the New Goofy movie soundtrack. I got in there and
- 11:17Speaker 2: it starts with damn Coughing's tough. I grew up on that, Yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 2: the New Goofy movies, which, yeah, it's brand new, so
- 11:27Speaker 2: when you're fourteen, so of course you would grow up
- 11:29Speaker 2: growing up as we.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Speaking, It's crazy.
- 11:31Speaker 6: It just feels like I love this advice, but as
- 11:34Speaker 6: a kid that's been doing music theory since I was
- 11:36Speaker 6: three years old.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Do any of you read music?
- 11:39Speaker 2: I don't.
- 11:41Speaker 5: I'd read it like a book. I love to sit
- 11:43Speaker 5: down in the morning. I read it like the morning news.
- 11:47Speaker 5: I love reading.
- 11:48Speaker 7: I do read. I read. You know, sees come with
- 11:50Speaker 7: the lyrics inside. For me, that's music.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Do you read musical notes?
- 11:56Speaker 7: I read the lyrics there?
- 11:57Speaker 3: Okay, Trish, I don't.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I don't understand the question. So you're saying that you
- 12:03Speaker 1: are you're reading music, like.
- 12:05Speaker 6: How do you guys like abies? Don't you know what
- 12:08Speaker 6: key you're playing in? Based off of this staff?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Look, these kids they come in here with all these
- 12:13Speaker 1: new fangled ideas about how music has notes and how
- 12:16Speaker 1: there's like a system. There's no system when I was
- 12:19Speaker 1: coming up. When I was coming up in the eighties,
- 12:21Speaker 1: we didn't have a system. You know what I mean, you.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Know, like Mozart like wrote music.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Yeah, this system has been in place, to be honest, trees.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You really like in the eighties, even.
- 12:30Speaker 4: In the eighties.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Yes, I'm talking like I'm not talking late eighties. I'm
- 12:34Speaker 1: talking like nineteen eighty one.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Yeah I was.
- 12:36Speaker 5: You know, I'm seventy five years old. So this is
- 12:38Speaker 5: something that I've known for my own life, which includes
- 12:40Speaker 5: the eighties.
- 12:41Speaker 4: My life includes the eighties.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Okay, well, I mean we all have our own way
- 12:45Speaker 1: of doing things. But what I mean, what's your dream?
- 12:47Speaker 1: What do you what kind of music do you want
- 12:49Speaker 1: to do? What's your what's your dream film to score?
- 12:53Speaker 3: I want to finish the work my dad started.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Hans Zimmer, who's still alive, good friend of mine.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I feel like he's finished. I feel like he's basically.
- 13:02Speaker 7: He got canceled, didn't you for you know what I'm
- 13:05Speaker 7: talking about. Okay, remember that the Girl's Gone the Wild
- 13:08Speaker 7: song I was singing earlier, Yes, that's hands, that's hands
- 13:12Speaker 7: show and the people found out that he was so
- 13:14Speaker 7: long doing that and the and they canceled him.
- 13:18Speaker 3: We'll talk about that in my house.
- 13:19Speaker 5: No, I want to talk about that famous composer Hander
- 13:23Speaker 5: of the Lion King and other things secretly mounded making
- 13:26Speaker 5: Girls Go Wild?
- 13:27Speaker 7: Yes, because have you ever seen a Girls Are Gone Wild?
- 13:30Speaker 7: There's usually a girl.
- 13:31Speaker 8: Going whoa, whoa, whoa, and she's she's going Holy ship,
- 13:35Speaker 8: and she's going, oh my fucking girl, Dad, She's gone
- 13:40Speaker 8: it does because she's going I'm so drunk. She's showing
- 13:43Speaker 8: her breast in the background. I've almost ever single Girl's
- 13:47Speaker 8: Gone the Wild. You see hands Simmer standing in the
- 13:49Speaker 8: background going yeah, do show.
- 13:52Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, the craziest thing for me about that is
- 13:58Speaker 2: that he wouldn't come pose his own movies.
- 14:01Speaker 5: No, No, this is big to me because I'm realizing
- 14:04Speaker 5: there is a moment in Girls Cone Wild seven, which
- 14:08Speaker 5: was the one in Tampa seven, I think, and there
- 14:11Speaker 5: is a tit drop and it goes bom and that
- 14:15Speaker 5: is the sounds from inception. And I'm realizing the similarities
- 14:20Speaker 5: and overlap.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah, my dad an inception when I was like in diapers.
- 14:24Speaker 1: So like the original inspiration for inception was a titty
- 14:28Speaker 1: drop in Girls Gone Wild.
- 14:30Speaker 6: Listen, I don't want to get in the weeds of why.
- 14:33Speaker 6: I want to pick up where my dad left off.
- 14:36Speaker 6: But that is what I'm doing.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Okay, does he have like an unfinished movie we don't
- 14:40Speaker 1: know about or something?
- 14:41Speaker 3: I want to pick up where my dad went left off.
- 14:45Speaker 5: So if so, usually a composer goes from job to job, right,
- 14:49Speaker 5: just kind of basically, are you picking up a job
- 14:53Speaker 5: that he did not finish or are you going back
- 14:55Speaker 5: to his old.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Jobs and.
- 14:59Speaker 3: A mix of the two.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Okay, so you're gonna go back and like touch scores
- 15:03Speaker 2: that he's already finished.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna wherever he left off.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I just wouldn't do that. I just really would
- 15:10Speaker 2: see you're gonna.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Go in the garage band and just like tinker with
- 15:12Speaker 1: stuff that's already going on.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Yeah I I yeah, I wherever he stopped, I'm gonna
- 15:20Speaker 6: pick up.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And that's just the end of the day, what I'm
- 15:23Speaker 3: gonna do.
- 15:24Speaker 6: I don't really want to be grilled by all these
- 15:27Speaker 6: old people.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Just okay, okay, I'm not old.
- 15:29Speaker 6: I'm I'm and I do love your band for into fighting.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I thank you.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I do respect everyone here.
- 15:37Speaker 6: I just don't want to make this about my dad,
- 15:38Speaker 6: because what's so fucking frustrating is when people make my
- 15:41Speaker 6: identity about my dad. And yeah, in this artist room.
- 15:45Speaker 6: I did say my dad is Hans Zimmer before saying
- 15:48Speaker 6: my name is Diego, And I get that, and that's
- 15:50Speaker 6: something I'm working through, Okay, Like, as a son of
- 15:54Speaker 6: the greats in this music composing industry, I am constantly
- 15:59Speaker 6: needing to pick up where he left off and make
- 16:01Speaker 6: a name for myself.
- 16:03Speaker 1: So I was gonna say because I didn't, I don't
- 16:05Speaker 1: want to make it about your dad at all. But
- 16:07Speaker 1: I did notice that the back of your chair said
- 16:11Speaker 1: Hans Zimmer. And the person on the email list and
- 16:14Speaker 1: they said who was going to be here was Hans Zimmer.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Everyone who briefed me told me that Hans Zimmer was
- 16:20Speaker 1: going to be here, text you want to be yeah,
- 16:23Speaker 1: and he's not here, and so I was wondering, and
- 16:26Speaker 1: you were new information to me. I didn't know you
- 16:28Speaker 1: were going to do this. So I mean, was he
- 16:30Speaker 1: supposed to be doing this?
- 16:32Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's where he left off.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Okay, I get it.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Now makes sense.
- 16:38Speaker 2: So you're doing just a podcast. You just do the
- 16:41Speaker 2: podcast for him, Okay, Well, I qudn't want to do
- 16:43Speaker 2: the podcast.
- 16:44Speaker 5: I have a question from the fish bowl, if we
- 16:46Speaker 5: want to ask that. When they wonderful I love that
- 16:50Speaker 5: listeners within the question what is the typical process for
- 16:55Speaker 5: you when you're working on a production?
- 16:58Speaker 4: What what is this soup? Do notts? What's the steps?
- 17:02Speaker 7: Well, for me, I'm gonna write the original song, and
- 17:05Speaker 7: so I don't really like to watch the movie or
- 17:07Speaker 7: read the log line because I can't well, I have
- 17:10Speaker 7: them headaches for reading, so I don't do it very often.
- 17:13Speaker 7: So what I do is I ask them for a
- 17:15Speaker 7: movie poster, and if they don't have the poster read
- 17:17Speaker 7: it yet, I just say, can you draw what it's
- 17:19Speaker 7: gonna look like? And then they send it to me
- 17:22Speaker 7: and I look at it and I say, well, for example,
- 17:24Speaker 7: one hundred one Dalmatians, they sent me picture of all
- 17:28Speaker 7: of those dogs. Holy crap, you guys heard of this movie?
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:32Speaker 4: So many.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Also, I feel like a movie like one hundred and
- 17:36Speaker 2: one Dalmatians doesn't necessarily need a poster because it's pretty
- 17:39Speaker 2: self explanatory in.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Well, no, because I didn't know what what is a Dalmatian?
- 17:43Speaker 7: I didn't know what's this world. I thought it was
- 17:46Speaker 7: the name of a city somewhere else. So for me
- 17:48Speaker 7: to see all those body dogs, holy crap, I saw
- 17:52Speaker 7: them together. I said what's going on here? And so
- 17:56Speaker 7: I didn't know what the movie was about. But I
- 17:58Speaker 7: then I made the song just from looking in the picture.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And it's one of my favorites you've ever actually done.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Did she grace us with this song?
- 18:04Speaker 7: Of course?
- 18:04Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 18:05Speaker 7: Oh oh spawl the dog spotted wolf wolf. Hey send
- 18:10Speaker 7: me your bone, oh bone, oh boom.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I don't know why. I really love that.
- 18:22Speaker 7: I love that I have to use it in the movie.
- 18:25Speaker 7: That song because they ended up using song gooing Corola
- 18:28Speaker 7: deveil Crodova. They didn't tell me about that dog named Corolla,
- 18:31Speaker 7: so I didn't know to write it.
- 18:33Speaker 2: She's not she's not a dog, She's a she's.
- 18:35Speaker 7: One of the dogs. Heah, she's a dumbation.
- 18:37Speaker 4: I want to make sure you know I loved that song.
- 18:40Speaker 4: I just wanted to be clear. I loved it.
- 18:42Speaker 7: Thank you. I think they should have used it, but
- 18:44Speaker 7: to cruel all of it they wrote end up breaking
- 18:47Speaker 7: the song for it's too bad.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Now, are you approached for cruel at all? The current
- 18:53Speaker 1: the twenty twenty one version.
- 18:54Speaker 7: Oh, twenty twenty one version, yes, I was. And that
- 18:57Speaker 7: time because it was called I knew that, I knew
- 18:59Speaker 7: to write the song about that. So again they didn't
- 19:03Speaker 7: use it, but I made it like Kwelpa, cwelpa kid.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Oh are you saying Elba?
- 19:17Speaker 6: Yeah, because I don't think you're saying Kuelpa and it's Kuella.
- 19:21Speaker 7: Oh my god, is a Kruella?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 19:23Speaker 3: That might be why you can get.
- 19:24Speaker 4: It, probably before a song calling heelba.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Man sucks. Some good people don't get jobs because of misunderstanding.
- 19:31Speaker 7: That's exactly right, because, for example, for they didn't have
- 19:35Speaker 7: the poster already, so they sent me just a picture
- 19:37Speaker 7: and it was so many. Again, you guys wouldn't believe it.
- 19:39Speaker 7: Those spotty dogs were on that poster again, many of them,
- 19:42Speaker 7: about eighty of them, and Kuelpa was there. But they
- 19:46Speaker 7: had the picture of her, but they didn't put Kruelpa,
- 19:48Speaker 7: so I didn't know.
- 19:50Speaker 4: So they sent you a picture of a bunch of
- 19:52Speaker 4: dogs and just no no subject.
- 19:55Speaker 7: Well, they had a picture of a woman and I
- 19:57Speaker 7: assume what they told me over the phone. Her names Scropo.
- 19:59Speaker 7: So you're saying, now it's Cruella. But they didn't write
- 20:02Speaker 7: this on the postm.
- 20:03Speaker 3: It makes sense because you don't want the log line
- 20:05Speaker 3: or any words about it.
- 20:06Speaker 7: And I don't want to watch the movie or read
- 20:08Speaker 7: the script.
- 20:08Speaker 3: You just want a picture. Makes sense that you must
- 20:11Speaker 3: have misheard the title of the movie.
- 20:13Speaker 7: Yeah, because when they call me, it's such a rush. Oh,
- 20:15Speaker 7: get on the phone, get Harlem shake on the phone.
- 20:17Speaker 7: We need the song, we need a song. And all
- 20:19Speaker 7: I hear quickly, quickly someone running driving to a grocery store.
- 20:23Speaker 7: Really last minute, Harlem shake and hang up. So I
- 20:27Speaker 7: don't hear if it's Kruelpa, Kruella, Selena and Karnini.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Who's giving you these phone calls? Is it? Is it
- 20:35Speaker 2: your agent? Is it the company? It seems like they're
- 20:40Speaker 2: very rushed the grocery store.
- 20:44Speaker 7: Yeah, it's pretty hectic. And to be honest, I don't
- 20:47Speaker 7: know where the calls come from, because every time I say,
- 20:49Speaker 7: who's just to hang.
- 20:52Speaker 1: So Harlem shake, I think as I mean, so you've
- 20:57Speaker 1: just been getting these calls and then you send off
- 21:01Speaker 1: the file and they're never in the movie. Do you
- 21:05Speaker 1: think that you've been pranked for like a long long time.
- 21:08Speaker 7: No, definitely not, because, like I said, I get the
- 21:10Speaker 7: twenty k for every song, minus fifty percent for my agent,
- 21:13Speaker 7: minus thirty percent for my wife, and then of course
- 21:16Speaker 7: always a little bit for the postman. And when it
- 21:18Speaker 7: gets to me in my mailbox.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Ohwaits a little bit for the postman.
- 21:24Speaker 7: Yeah, so when it gets to me in my in
- 21:26Speaker 7: my post box sometimes looks like a flyer for the YMCA.
- 21:30Speaker 7: But I know it's my payment, I will say.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I mean, the rule that composers have to give five
- 21:36Speaker 1: percent to the mailman is messed up.
- 21:39Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 21:39Speaker 5: I love my postman. I love my postman. You know,
- 21:43Speaker 5: dyare really so nice and funny. But I'm like, man,
- 21:47Speaker 5: you are robbing me blind because I'm doing these big movies.
- 21:50Speaker 5: I'm getting, you know, thirty million dollars a movie.
- 21:53Speaker 4: I'm giving you a million dollars you know, five percent.
- 21:56Speaker 3: No, for sure, and it's a lot.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I think, what was that? Say that one more time?
- 22:00Speaker 4: I'm giving him thirty you know, five percent of this thing.
- 22:04Speaker 4: So million dollars for every thirty million, you.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Know, thirty million, thirty thousand, sorry, yes, yes, yeah yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 5: The typical day for me usually is, you know, working
- 22:16Speaker 5: on a movie. When someone calls me, you know, usually
- 22:19Speaker 5: I come in on the very end. They've shot the thing.
- 22:21Speaker 4: They are they have the post they have the poster,
- 22:24Speaker 4: for sure.
- 22:24Speaker 5: They know the name of the movie, and they tell
- 22:27Speaker 5: me all, you know, if there's dogs, they tell me that,
- 22:29Speaker 5: And I'm not surprised.
- 22:30Speaker 4: I've heard of it. I've heard of most dogs. So
- 22:32Speaker 4: that's probably what we differ.
- 22:35Speaker 5: But I go in and I watch the full movie
- 22:38Speaker 5: and I just have a little recorder and and as
- 22:42Speaker 5: I'm watching a boom boom, you know, just doing kind
- 22:45Speaker 5: of the Caribbean.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I do Pirates of the Caribbean to the movie.
- 22:50Speaker 3: That's my dad.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I do, because I love Hans and I call
- 22:53Speaker 5: it and I say, if Pirates of the Caribe is
- 22:56Speaker 5: why I tell the director.
- 22:57Speaker 4: I say, if Pirates of the Caribbean works to this movie,
- 23:00Speaker 4: you gotta call horns. But if it doesn't, I'll do
- 23:03Speaker 4: the job.
- 23:04Speaker 7: And when you say you had your little recorder, do
- 23:06Speaker 7: you mean like the instrument?
- 23:08Speaker 5: Like, yes, I have a recorder, a plastic recorder that
- 23:11Speaker 5: I buy at a little music store next to all
- 23:13Speaker 5: the little egg shakers.
- 23:14Speaker 7: And you buy a new one every time.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Every time if it's a new job, you know, and
- 23:19Speaker 4: they don't.
- 23:20Speaker 7: You find by the end it's totally filled with Spit
- 23:22Speaker 7: can't be used again.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Absolutely, because I wear it down, you know, that kind
- 23:29Speaker 5: of thing. It didn't work for the Amelia Earhart movie.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Clint Eastwood said, this season's gonna work, and I said,
- 23:33Speaker 5: that's right, So Hans can't do it, so I'm ready
- 23:36Speaker 5: to go.
- 23:37Speaker 4: That's how it is for me.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Well, my you know, like what I really try to
- 23:41Speaker 2: do is like find the essence of the tune. And
- 23:45Speaker 2: how I start kind of is I'll wake up, I'll
- 23:47Speaker 2: drink some juice, and I'll find myself just in a
- 23:50Speaker 2: beach or in a skate park or something pretty rad.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I always try to start with something rad in my day,
- 23:57Speaker 2: and then I'll kind of find a note if I'm
- 24:00Speaker 2: wandering around through the day, you know, if it's like,
- 24:02Speaker 2: let's say a Space Jam movie or something like that,
- 24:05Speaker 2: I'll kind of like space Jam, space.
- 24:08Speaker 6: Bom bom.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Bom bom bom bom boom boom bom bom bom. And
- 24:20Speaker 2: that's just kind of how I build it, like right there,
- 24:23Speaker 2: So right there, I've just invented something that actually I
- 24:25Speaker 2: will own that. So like that's how I'm building it,
- 24:27Speaker 2: you know, because like yeah, because that's how we formed
- 24:30Speaker 2: the pop band, you know, like the pop punk band.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Back in the day. It was just me and my boys.
- 24:34Speaker 2: We were just hanging out in my garage and all
- 24:36Speaker 2: of a sudden, I'm like, wait, what about this boom
- 24:39Speaker 2: bomb bum? Boom bomb bum? And that's actually most of
- 24:45Speaker 2: the music I use. Is that tune for If you
- 24:47Speaker 2: watch any of my movies or TV shows, I constantly
- 24:51Speaker 2: start out with that. You know, what's the movie that's
- 24:53Speaker 2: from that movie that's from all of my work?
- 24:58Speaker 7: What's the movie that we know it from?
- 25:00Speaker 2: Oh, you guys probably saw it on you know Flowers.
- 25:04Speaker 2: You guys see that movie?
- 25:06Speaker 4: Oh, yes, the Holocaust movie.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah, the Holocaust movie Flowers.
- 25:11Speaker 3: So it's like one of my favorite films.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 2: So when the when the kids are kind of like
- 25:15Speaker 2: being broken up on that train sequence and you understand
- 25:19Speaker 2: that one of the trains is going to live and
- 25:21Speaker 2: one of the trains is actually gonna die, who kind
- 25:23Speaker 2: of starts off bump bump, don't un dun. Kids are
- 25:28Speaker 2: gonna die and live? What's gonna happen to them? We
- 25:33Speaker 2: don't know, kids are gonna die or live? What's gonna
- 25:37Speaker 2: happen to them? Only time will tell.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Keep on watching, So it's like so haunting.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I love that you tell people to keep on
- 25:48Speaker 4: watching I think that's so.
- 25:50Speaker 2: It's one of my biggest tricks in my in.
- 25:51Speaker 3: My school, you find that helps them watch the movie.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Mark, I think so, that's I. I personally think so.
- 25:57Speaker 2: But I don't know. You know, I get a lot
- 25:59Speaker 2: of mixed reviews on a lot of my youtubes and
- 26:01Speaker 2: tiktoks and stuff like that about me. So, but honestly,
- 26:04Speaker 2: we're just grinding and we're just out here living life
- 26:08Speaker 2: to the fullest every day. If I could take a
- 26:11Speaker 2: second to drop a I recently got into God. So
- 26:16Speaker 2: if you guys are interestation, Yeah, if you guys are interested,
- 26:19Speaker 2: I would love to show you guys that later.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Go for it now.
- 26:22Speaker 3: No I'm not interested, okay, okay, yeah, no, no, no,
- 26:28Speaker 3: please go into it.
- 26:29Speaker 2: No, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine if you guys
- 26:30Speaker 2: aren't into it.
- 26:31Speaker 7: With that, did you say God?
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 26:34Speaker 7: Okay, what did you think?
- 26:35Speaker 2: I said?
- 26:36Speaker 7: I didn't know. I didn't understand, because I did. I
- 26:39Speaker 7: really only know God from Bruce Almighty. He was in that,
- 26:45Speaker 7: and I didn't know God. Yes, God, Yeah, I mean.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It's basically, you know, like what he does in the
- 26:53Speaker 1: movie is basically what he does in real life. Or
- 26:55Speaker 1: some believe you know what I mean. Your process was, well,
- 27:00Speaker 1: you know, as you guys know, I have not booked
- 27:03Speaker 1: anything since twenty fifteen. Or maybe you wouldn't know that
- 27:07Speaker 1: because nobody knows my name. I don't even know why
- 27:09Speaker 1: I'm here. I don't know why I'm here. Was it
- 27:12Speaker 1: so that they could laugh at me? So that they
- 27:14Speaker 1: could say, look at this out of work composer. Let's
- 27:17Speaker 1: sit her up on a panel of experts and watch
- 27:19Speaker 1: her flail around.
- 27:21Speaker 2: She's probably drunk, Tricia, you have eight oscars.
- 27:25Speaker 1: That's true.
- 27:26Speaker 3: For commercial composing, that's true.
- 27:28Speaker 1: So why doesn't anybody call me? Why doesn't anybody call me?
- 27:34Speaker 1: I was winning oscars left and right. I was winning
- 27:36Speaker 1: Oscars for Jack in the box. I was winning Oscars
- 27:39Speaker 1: for me and dies.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Then I'll never forget that Oscar Quite a jingle, Please
- 27:48Speaker 2: please please will you play it for us?
- 27:50Speaker 1: Okay, I'll play a little bit of it. Bum bum
- 27:54Speaker 1: bum medes.
- 27:59Speaker 7: Me me?
- 28:03Speaker 1: D's for two enough fast?
- 28:12Speaker 4: The three hundred person chorus.
- 28:14Speaker 2: That you had doing that, all hitting the same note.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I don't do harmonies. I don't do harmonies that you
- 28:20Speaker 1: didn't get in trouble for that one, right? I did
- 28:23Speaker 1: get in trouble for that one, because that was just
- 28:25Speaker 1: one clip I played. This is the second half of
- 28:27Speaker 1: the song me on des for this Wet Ass Pussy.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I'm trucking bucket and a mop with this wet ass pussy.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I'm talking wop wop wop. Which that was a little
- 28:43Speaker 1: mistake on my part because I had, you know, I
- 28:45Speaker 1: had the files lined up.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I had wop that sounds just like wah.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Yes, but that's crazy because that was in twenty ten.
- 28:52Speaker 1: You have me like a really early copy. And I
- 28:55Speaker 1: was and she was like, keep this file safe. Don't
- 28:58Speaker 1: do anything with this file like I.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I was.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, I'll keep Yeah, I keep it
- 29:05Speaker 1: open when I'm writing so that I can I can
- 29:07Speaker 1: make sure not to use it. And then you never know,
- 29:14Speaker 1: like you just never know, everything can be taken from
- 29:17Speaker 1: you so fast. I just you gotta have a if
- 29:20Speaker 1: I if I have one piece of advice, I'm sure
- 29:22Speaker 1: we'll get to this later. We'll get to advice. Lad.
- 29:28Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I love more advice. You already gave me some.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Listen, you'd already give advice. If I could step on
- 29:36Speaker 1: here and be the first to give advice, today, it
- 29:39Speaker 1: would be to have two computers. Okay, have one computer
- 29:42Speaker 1: where you compose everything, and have another computer where you
- 29:45Speaker 1: keep all your files of popular songs. And marry the
- 29:49Speaker 1: two should ever meet. Okay, marry the two should meet.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Because I used to go to parties. I used to
- 29:54Speaker 1: do coke off Matt Damon's fucking ass, and now I
- 29:57Speaker 1: don't anymore.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Is that why you're the most appointed? Is the coke?
- 30:02Speaker 1: I miss the cocaine. I really let me tell you
- 30:06Speaker 1: something that I miss booking, but I miss cocaine more.
- 30:08Speaker 4: That's great advice. You should write that down. Have a
- 30:10Speaker 4: work computer advice from today? Now, great advice.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I have a work computer's process.
- 30:16Speaker 6: Ill my process, I'll say, my process is well, I
- 30:21Speaker 6: live with my dad and my mom, and my dad
- 30:25Speaker 6: will be working away and it comes time for lunch
- 30:29Speaker 6: and my dad stops and I run the fuck in there.
- 30:33Speaker 6: And because you know my dad, he's like the godfather
- 30:36Speaker 6: of this business. I hate to say that, but I
- 30:39Speaker 6: mean you are all giants under them. But I mean
- 30:42Speaker 6: my dad just he never stops working.
- 30:44Speaker 4: So when he doesn't, giants under the godfather, it's.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Usually how the.
- 30:51Speaker 6: We're huge and he's the Godfather, Big Giants and the
- 30:54Speaker 6: Godfather on top. But I'll say I just pick up
- 30:57Speaker 6: where he left off, like the first thing I ever did.
- 30:59Speaker 6: I was nine years old when he was writing Priates
- 31:02Speaker 6: to the Caribbean, and then he went to the bathroom
- 31:04Speaker 6: he left off, and I picked up where he left off,
- 31:06Speaker 6: and I wrote that bathroom, and you picked up where
- 31:10Speaker 6: he left I wrote the bridge of that drag.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, didn boo boop. Do you hear where
- 31:30Speaker 3: I went where he went to the bathroom?
- 31:33Speaker 1: I do, Yeah, I can tell. I can tell quite queerly.
- 31:38Speaker 6: So right now it's like I'm working as his assistant
- 31:41Speaker 6: or his associate, and slowly, like in recent events in
- 31:44Speaker 6: the news, my dad is finding some time that he
- 31:47Speaker 6: needs to stop working canceled culture. That's all I'll say.
- 31:51Speaker 6: But I don't even want to get into it. But
- 31:54Speaker 6: I'm I'm just following in his footsteps. And if he
- 31:57Speaker 6: started writing something, I'll finish it or all start writing
- 32:00Speaker 6: my own.
- 32:01Speaker 7: How often does it go to the bathroom like a
- 32:04Speaker 7: normal amount?
- 32:05Speaker 5: Okay, I would love to hear any regional composition from you,
- 32:11Speaker 5: because you're saying you're working on your own stuff.
- 32:12Speaker 4: I would love to hear what that is.
- 32:14Speaker 9: That means a lot to me, and I thank you
- 32:17Speaker 9: for that. I thank you for that, Carl, because I
- 32:20Speaker 9: don't get asked that lot. M Here's an original piece
- 32:24Speaker 9: I wrote for a p T A movie, Paul Tom Sanderson.
- 32:39Speaker 2: You love drums.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a drummer at heart. I hear strings as drums.
- 32:44Speaker 3: I hear flutes as drums. I love what do you
- 32:49Speaker 3: guys think?
- 32:50Speaker 6: I actually would love like a workshop session you guys
- 32:52Speaker 6: are we can do the young Boy.
- 32:57Speaker 3: I would love like from the greats and as a godfather,
- 33:00Speaker 3: I'd love some notes on that piece.
- 33:02Speaker 7: Okay, I could give you a note. First of all,
- 33:03Speaker 7: I think it could use a little bit of words. Yeah,
- 33:06Speaker 7: So what's the movie?
- 33:08Speaker 3: So it's PTA's movie about?
- 33:10Speaker 7: Okay, don't say it, just can draw it on that
- 33:12Speaker 7: piece of paper. Okay, she drying some she drying a house,
- 33:17Speaker 7: and beside it she drank. Oh my god, you're seen
- 33:20Speaker 7: there's a spotty dog.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Okay, that's not I literally I literally do a peace sign.
- 33:26Speaker 7: Okay, So I thought that was a dog. I thought
- 33:29Speaker 7: there was a dog with spots. So I would say
- 33:32Speaker 7: for a movie like that, you said it was a
- 33:33Speaker 7: peace sign. Yeah, okay, So I'd say for a movie
- 33:35Speaker 7: like that, add some lyrics.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Like spoilted doll, Yeah, going.
- 33:43Speaker 7: Yeah, speileded doll, gave him a bomb into bomb into it.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I can really hear the peace sign of that.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Ye, And now you know if I were to give
- 33:58Speaker 5: you notes, what how I would tinker? Can you tell
- 34:01Speaker 5: me what the plot is?
- 34:02Speaker 1: Now?
- 34:02Speaker 7: Now that we you know, yeah, you saw the picture.
- 34:05Speaker 4: I saw the picture, but for me it's a different process.
- 34:08Speaker 4: So now that we did yours, I think we can
- 34:10Speaker 4: do mine, and I can hear what well.
- 34:11Speaker 7: I just want to challenge you that you should guess
- 34:13Speaker 7: what the plot is. And I bet you anything, when
- 34:15Speaker 7: the dirego tells you what it is, it would be
- 34:17Speaker 7: exact same. So what did you see in the picture?
- 34:20Speaker 7: Just trust your insidre Okay.
- 34:23Speaker 5: If I'm looking at the picture, it's is a house
- 34:27Speaker 5: with a peace sign on it, I'm going to guess
- 34:30Speaker 5: it is a spotted dove.
- 34:34Speaker 6: No, it's about the stock market crisis in two thousand
- 34:37Speaker 6: and eight.
- 34:38Speaker 7: Oh okay, so I went about your song, Yes you
- 34:43Speaker 7: must have been.
- 34:44Speaker 6: It's crazy when you get a bunch of musicians and
- 34:46Speaker 6: composers in a room like it gets wacky.
- 34:49Speaker 4: It's infectious as I mean, as can tell us. You know,
- 34:53Speaker 4: if if we listen to a song by sneak into
- 34:55Speaker 4: our work, right, it might.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Sneak into our work. And I don't find that very
- 35:00Speaker 1: funny because I had real life consequences for me. But
- 35:04Speaker 1: I'm glad that this is a big joke for all
- 35:06Speaker 1: of you.
- 35:06Speaker 7: But Trus, not all of your songs are a rip off, right,
- 35:10Speaker 7: Because I did see the Sea World. Why don't you
- 35:12Speaker 7: talk about too? Nor maybe you did also Marine World?
- 35:15Speaker 2: That was the.
- 35:17Speaker 7: I'm loving it Marine World.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I did do that, and I wanted. I'm just
- 35:24Speaker 1: glad that you noticed that because that's actually one of
- 35:27Speaker 1: my favorites. So I mean, thank you. I did love
- 35:31Speaker 1: but up bus Sea World. I'm loving it. It's like
- 35:34Speaker 1: one of my babies, one of the first original things
- 35:36Speaker 1: I ever made.
- 35:37Speaker 3: It's a great tune, you know.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I mean to go off of your tune that you had,
- 35:42Speaker 1: like I do have. I don't normally do this, but
- 35:45Speaker 1: I do have this this percussive under bassline that I
- 35:50Speaker 1: could I could overlay over. Do you want me to
- 35:52Speaker 1: play a little bit of it right now? Yeah?
- 35:53Speaker 3: Do you want me to get my drum line.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Yeah, get your drum let going. Let me let me
- 35:56Speaker 1: zap it in with my work computer.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah, there's nothing.
- 36:08Speaker 1: No that My hard will, my hard will.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 1: How does that sound to you?
- 36:16Speaker 2: For me, that sounded a lot like Titanic.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Now. Fuck, this is my home computer. Oh my fucking god.
- 36:24Speaker 6: It's crazy how you have to look and make sure
- 36:26Speaker 6: your files are safe, but by looking at them they're opened.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Sounds like someone needs to take their own advice.
- 36:33Speaker 1: That's the Pandora's box. That's all I can say. You
- 36:36Speaker 1: know what, but you're on the right track. I don't
- 36:39Speaker 1: mean to come down too hard on you. You know,
- 36:40Speaker 1: bad stuff has happened to me. Good stuff is gonna
- 36:42Speaker 1: happen for you because of nepotism, but also because you're talented. Anyway,
- 36:48Speaker 1: thank you, Just do with some coffee. Yeah, it would
- 36:53Speaker 1: be really nice. Actually, I'm sorry. I feel like I
- 36:56Speaker 1: came in kind of hot and you guys are showing
- 36:58Speaker 1: me nothing but kindness. So thank you.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Carl. Did what would you add?
- 37:03Speaker 1: Oh?
- 37:03Speaker 5: Yes, we were talking about this event. Spot it, so
- 37:07Speaker 5: if you want to go ahead and hit that. So
- 37:09Speaker 5: it is about the stock market crisis in two thousand
- 37:11Speaker 5: and eight, Paul Thomas Anderson. I'm thinking weird, funky, off cuter.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Something is not what it seems, So go ahead and
- 37:21Speaker 5: go for it, and then I'll do it. And so
- 37:32Speaker 5: do we think that worked?
- 37:33Speaker 7: I thought that was really good, but it sounded like
- 37:36Speaker 7: Pirates of the Titanic.
- 37:38Speaker 3: It sounds like one of my dad's piece exactly.
- 37:41Speaker 4: It means that I shouldn't do this job.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Was a piece, that is it yours?
- 37:48Speaker 2: You know that that job is it?
- 37:50Speaker 4: If it fits, I must sits.
- 37:55Speaker 1: So if it fits, you have to set it out.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Is essentially rsic.
- 38:00Speaker 4: If someone else can do it, I cannot, so I leave.
- 38:04Speaker 4: But if do we want to say that I did it?
- 38:07Speaker 4: We want to say that didn't work. We can try
- 38:09Speaker 4: it again. I'll do it one more time. Give me
- 38:11Speaker 4: the beat and I'll tell you what I would do.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Louder So you are a monster and a great for
- 38:39Speaker 3: a reason.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Wow, yeah, that is of course the piano.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Well, I've got nothing to offer to that. Let's move
- 38:48Speaker 2: on to another question.
- 38:49Speaker 4: We want to hear this is drums. You want a
- 38:52Speaker 4: drum boy, No, I want.
- 38:54Speaker 1: To hear pop punk. I want to hear a pop
- 38:56Speaker 1: punk version of this, because she's got something.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Not all my music. It gets pop punk.
- 39:01Speaker 3: I mean thinking about the Lord. I am sorry I
- 39:03Speaker 3: cut you off and I said you couldn't talk about God.
- 39:05Speaker 2: No, it's fine. I got to read the room with
- 39:07Speaker 2: that worship. My bishop told me that I've got to
- 39:10Speaker 2: read the room with that.
- 39:12Speaker 4: I love a good bishop who gives you good advice God.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Can we all just sit down and agree that we
- 39:17Speaker 3: love a good bishop.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I don't believe in God, but I fucking believe in
- 39:20Speaker 1: a bishop.
- 39:20Speaker 7: I tell you that my postman is also a bishop,
- 39:23Speaker 7: so I have to tithe to him as well.
- 39:25Speaker 2: So you're beliking him extra Yes, you're very.
- 39:28Speaker 7: Sure, Farst. Yeah, it's a biblical principle tithing. You give
- 39:31Speaker 7: ten percent. He told me about it. Yes, he's also
- 39:34Speaker 7: a bishop.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Because I also love I get tithing and I love it.
- 39:38Speaker 7: You love to give it to your money, yes.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it to give it to my money.
- 39:42Speaker 7: Yes, I love to give it to my money.
- 39:43Speaker 6: I love to give it to my Can you guys
- 39:46Speaker 6: find that having a partner in this industry is difficult
- 39:49Speaker 6: because I'm trying to get in the dating scene and
- 39:51Speaker 6: I'm just so focused on my work.
- 39:53Speaker 4: You little boy getting in the daisy scene.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Yeah, what's the scene like Tactoe hopscotch. Little boy, you.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Boy, why are you going on dates to day lunch room?
- 40:06Speaker 7: What are you doing? Little boy? Prop in your pants?
- 40:10Speaker 7: I have the nerves to come and take Oh we
- 40:13Speaker 7: gotta stay home from school A little boy meet some
- 40:16Speaker 7: third girl. Huh, you guys are.
- 40:20Speaker 2: We just think you're a little stupid for doing that
- 40:23Speaker 2: trying to date. We just think you're all a little stupid.
- 40:27Speaker 4: What none of us date?
- 40:30Speaker 2: You're married. We're married to the music. That's the first
- 40:35Speaker 2: you have made. Times have gotten divorced?
- 40:38Speaker 1: You know?
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yes, a couple? A couple? What a couple of hundred?
- 40:43Speaker 2: Because you would be wrong. It's five.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Cool.
- 40:46Speaker 7: And why do you think all my songs sometimes sound
- 40:49Speaker 7: a little bit sexual? Because I'm doing sex on my music.
- 40:52Speaker 7: I'm doing love on my music. I'm doing some sort
- 40:55Speaker 7: of engagement party every time I do in my music.
- 40:58Speaker 1: It's like you're living an entire your marriage through your music.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I sometimes even hear, like in that one song you
- 41:04Speaker 1: did for Devilwaar's Praduct, like I almost hear like fighting
- 41:09Speaker 1: with a spouse energy in it.
- 41:11Speaker 7: Oh yeah, that's like Miranda Preachely Oh where have you bringing?
- 41:16Speaker 7: You been so late from work? You forget to cook
- 41:19Speaker 7: din I missed you want to be close to you.
- 41:22Speaker 7: That's why I gave her the time and ring don't
- 41:24Speaker 7: your rusbut it anymore.
- 41:26Speaker 5: Amazing point of view of Metro Streep's husband in the movie,
- 41:31Speaker 5: who we barely.
- 41:32Speaker 7: See to get that off of a picture, I got
- 41:34Speaker 7: that from the picture.
- 41:38Speaker 3: He needs a song, and that's so good that you
- 41:40Speaker 3: gave him that for the credits.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Well that one.
- 41:44Speaker 7: The poster was fully finished, though. I did have a
- 41:46Speaker 7: picture of a really looking, mean kind of lady, but
- 41:49Speaker 7: I didn't have her name. You're right. I guessed it
- 41:51Speaker 7: because I thought she looked a little bit like Miranda
- 41:54Speaker 7: from Lizzie McGuire. And Priestley from My Bishop actually gave
- 41:58Speaker 7: me that one.
- 41:59Speaker 4: You're Bishop. Him is Priestley.
- 42:01Speaker 7: Yes, he's also my postman, so you call him postman?
- 42:04Speaker 7: Pretty yeah for me?
- 42:10Speaker 5: Sexually, I push it all into the notes, you know
- 42:13Speaker 5: I that. And of course Girls Come Wild we've talked about.
- 42:18Speaker 5: It's been really helped.
- 42:19Speaker 7: The girls don't come Girls Gone Wild? Said, Girls come
- 42:23Speaker 7: wilder Wild.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Said, I said the girls Gone Wild. I was not
- 42:28Speaker 4: talking about girls Come Wild.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Harlem for a musician. You're pretty shitty hearing.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Hey, watch a diego Zimmer. Okay, watch it?
- 42:36Speaker 2: Why don't you stick to your fucking dating?
- 42:38Speaker 3: Sorry, if my ears are literally inherited from the gods, why.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Don't you go kiss a little girl behind a tree?
- 42:44Speaker 4: And lunch class?
- 42:46Speaker 7: Why don't you go to your second grade classroom and
- 42:49Speaker 7: ask your teacher? Well, tell her you forgot your lunch?
- 42:52Speaker 3: First about lunch isn't a class?
- 42:55Speaker 1: No?
- 42:56Speaker 2: Well, then what is it?
- 42:57Speaker 3: You said, lunch class?
- 42:59Speaker 7: What he's a great class? You forgot your lunch?
- 43:04Speaker 2: If lunch is in a class, what is it?
- 43:06Speaker 4: What is lunch? Little boy?
- 43:10Speaker 1: Yeah, why don't you riddle me that?
- 43:12Speaker 8: What's lunch?
- 43:13Speaker 7: Got to do? Got to do with it?
- 43:16Speaker 2: That's good.
- 43:17Speaker 6: I'm getting the fuck out here, and I'm reporting you
- 43:20Speaker 6: to my dad, the godfather of our industry.
- 43:22Speaker 7: No, no, no, no, no, no, no one will hurt
- 43:25Speaker 7: the giant.
- 43:28Speaker 1: We can't please, we cannot take somebody to say something
- 43:32Speaker 1: bad about me in this town. I'm shaking in my boots.
- 43:36Speaker 1: God damn, does anyone have any plugs?
- 43:39Speaker 5: I wanted to ask you kind of what is next
- 43:43Speaker 5: for you? You're going to try to continue pursuing music,
- 43:47Speaker 5: or they are they tides turned?
- 43:50Speaker 1: Well, you know, I'm trying to put a lot of
- 43:53Speaker 1: this chapter behind me. I've gotten really into crocheting and
- 43:59Speaker 1: fucking a lot. So those are a couple of things
- 44:02Speaker 1: that are on my radar. I am in the mix
- 44:05Speaker 1: for this Mercedes commercial and it all goes well. You
- 44:10Speaker 1: will hear a sample of my original tune who Let
- 44:13Speaker 1: the Dogs Out? Okay, obviously that was the wrong one,
- 44:18Speaker 1: but I will email it.
- 44:19Speaker 3: To That sounds like a banger.
- 44:23Speaker 7: It is? That was a file you were playing because
- 44:26Speaker 7: it sounded like your voice. Wait, so every song you
- 44:28Speaker 7: have you have re recorded in your own voice and
- 44:31Speaker 7: saved it on the laptop.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's also part of it. That's like I hear
- 44:35Speaker 1: the song, I say it out loud because I like
- 44:38Speaker 1: the way it sounds, and then I record it, and
- 44:41Speaker 1: then I have the file and then I open it
- 44:44Speaker 1: and then I get confused.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yes, and well, yeah, I can see that process being
- 44:49Speaker 2: very confusing because it's a lot of steps unnecessarily.
- 44:52Speaker 4: What an next for you, Carl, Well, I'm doing another
- 44:56Speaker 4: Star Wars.
- 45:00Speaker 2: So the Pirates of the Caribbean didn't match the Star
- 45:02Speaker 2: Wars movie.
- 45:03Speaker 4: No, this is a private separate kind of origin story.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Private.
- 45:08Speaker 4: It's a private story. It's a private movie for Disney.
- 45:12Speaker 4: It's only for the execs.
- 45:13Speaker 5: I'm making a movie just for the executives at Disney
- 45:16Speaker 5: about Boba Fett's ex husband.
- 45:19Speaker 2: So why is it for just that?
- 45:21Speaker 4: That's what they told me. There's something going on.
- 45:24Speaker 5: They have so much money over there, they're just making
- 45:26Speaker 5: movies quietly for themselves. Right now, if you if this
- 45:31Speaker 5: is something I we should talk about, if you get
- 45:33Speaker 5: an email executive only production, make sure you read that.
- 45:38Speaker 5: Make sure you read that Harlem shake, because that means
- 45:42Speaker 5: it's going to about five ten people.
- 45:45Speaker 4: And you know they built make fifty eighty million dollar
- 45:49Speaker 4: movies just for five to ten people. There's as for fun.
- 45:52Speaker 4: And this one, as I said, Boba FET's ex husband
- 45:55Speaker 4: and he lives in a little tiny island planet named
- 45:59Speaker 4: Bubba gararh.
- 46:01Speaker 6: Wait, now that you're talking about these secret movies, I
- 46:04Speaker 6: remember when I was in diapers, my dad was working
- 46:08Speaker 6: on Forrest Gump too, just for the Warner Brothers.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Shit, they made it only for the top execs.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Do you remember what he did in the movie? Do
- 46:21Speaker 4: you remember what he did?
- 46:23Speaker 3: Little Boy?
- 46:24Speaker 2: Oh?
- 46:25Speaker 3: Forrest Jr. That's all I remember.
- 46:28Speaker 4: We'll probably have to take all of this out. I
- 46:29Speaker 4: don't know if I for the public.
- 46:34Speaker 5: I'm doing another Puss in Boots another, Yes, I did
- 46:38Speaker 5: the first Puss in boots.
- 46:40Speaker 1: There's a there's about a couple puss in boots right.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Yes, the first one and then the second one in
- 46:45Speaker 5: parts of the Caribbean sync up, so I couldn't do it.
- 46:47Speaker 4: And then I'm back on the third one.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Incredible.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Yes, what about you, man?
- 46:54Speaker 7: What are you up to? Man?
- 46:56Speaker 2: Well as I don't know if you guys have seen
- 46:59Speaker 2: my Instagram, but forty two for Fighting is actually doing
- 47:01Speaker 2: a reunion tour this summer. We're so actually pumped for that.
- 47:06Speaker 2: So if you guys want to come out, I can
- 47:07Speaker 2: definitely get you comps. We're doing all the fan favorites
- 47:10Speaker 2: like girls Got My Number. We are doing like fight Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight,
- 47:15Speaker 2: We're doing all the pop pump finger it's and then
- 47:18Speaker 2: right after that, I'm gonna go teach it a Bible camp.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I'm really really excited about that, you know, just getting
- 47:24Speaker 2: with the kids and understanding how kids work and maybe
- 47:27Speaker 2: singing a couple of songs. And then after that I
- 47:30Speaker 2: am doing a movie that's about the Sudanese genocide, and
- 47:36Speaker 2: I'm really excited about that.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Yeah, can you give us a sneak pee?
- 47:40Speaker 2: Yeah for sure. So in eighteen ninety there is this
- 47:46Speaker 2: terrible genocide that happened in Sudan, and it was kind
- 47:49Speaker 2: of you know, it really made me feel the color purple,
- 47:52Speaker 2: not the not the play, And it made me actually
- 47:57Speaker 2: feel like the.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Color purple, not the Did it make you feel like purple?
- 48:01Speaker 1: Or like the color purple made me.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Feel like purple? It would probably be a much clearer
- 48:05Speaker 2: way to say that. So not like the book, it's
- 48:10Speaker 2: not TI.
- 48:11Speaker 3: I also think there was a mini series and it's.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Not Nothing was tied. It was just the color of purple.
- 48:17Speaker 2: So with that in mind, it really made me just go, like, m.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Bad things are happening to it's very way.
- 48:34Speaker 2: And that's just a little workshop.
- 48:36Speaker 3: That's incredible. That's great, Harlem. What's next for you?
- 48:41Speaker 1: Wow?
- 48:41Speaker 7: Oh my god, I got a really really big project
- 48:43Speaker 7: coming up here. I got a new movie poster that
- 48:47Speaker 7: I'm gonna be working off. It's just a sketch for now.
- 48:50Speaker 7: And well, I got I found in my mailbox. It's
- 48:52Speaker 7: a drawing of a penis, and so I can only
- 48:55Speaker 7: assume that's the next movie poster for me, which I think, well,
- 49:00Speaker 7: maybe you guys can help me. But I'm thinking the
- 49:02Speaker 7: movie probably about a man who is living in a
- 49:06Speaker 7: big adventure in the big city and he loses his
- 49:09Speaker 7: baby off a skyscraper.
- 49:11Speaker 2: So just really quick. The process is, you get a call, say.
- 49:20Speaker 3: You're like a rough call a supermarket.
- 49:24Speaker 7: Sometimes I can barely hear on the other end, a
- 49:26Speaker 7: lot of shuffling sounds almost sounds like they didn't mean
- 49:31Speaker 7: to call me. But it's in the phone in a pocket,
- 49:34Speaker 7: and I think that's part of it. I have to
- 49:35Speaker 7: discern what is going on.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Then you get an undisclosed letter in the mail that's
- 49:41Speaker 2: a picture, yes, no words or anything, and you just
- 49:45Speaker 2: assume it's connect.
- 49:48Speaker 7: I just want to guess to follow up to the call.
- 49:51Speaker 4: When you get paid, your wife definitely gets money. Correct.
- 49:55Speaker 3: Sometimes you say they're like flyers.
- 49:57Speaker 7: The checks look like you I know, Oh yes, I
- 50:00Speaker 7: know what you're thinking. And of course my wife is
- 50:02Speaker 7: getting paid because we have been we have been separated
- 50:06Speaker 7: for twenty years. I follow her on Facebook and she
- 50:09Speaker 7: is living a glamorous life. So I can only assume I'm.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Do you send her the jack?
- 50:19Speaker 1: No?
