- 1:52We're now talking to the one and only fan of the Fanatic Fest and
- 1:573rd place winner The one the only.
- 2:00Matthew Dennisch. Matthew, what's up, buddy?
- 2:04What's up guys? Well, have have have you ever
- 2:08been on a show like this? This is this is a crazy show.
- 2:11You get a chance to speak with Jabba Chamberlain for a little
- 2:13while. Jabba's eating his Twix and
- 2:16whatever he's eating over there. Probably getting some Reese's
- 2:19Pieces stuck in his. Oh, there it is.
- 2:21What is that? A Tootsie roll?
- 2:22Pop a Tootsie roll. Hopefully didn't get get it lost
- 2:25in his. No, there.
- 2:28They're called fruities. Fruities.
- 2:29They're flavored Tootsie Rolls. Oh, there you go.
- 2:31Flavored Tootsie Rolls. Maybe we, you know, they're
- 2:34awesome. Now that you're a 250K winner,
- 2:37maybe you can invest into those fruity Tootsie Rolls and we call
- 2:40them Danish rolls or something like that.
- 2:43It's listen, Matt, I mean, it's incredible.
- 2:46The story niffing told us a little bit about you.
- 2:48We weren't at Fanatic Fest. I was on a yacht almost, you
- 2:51know, getting arrested over there and you know, Bermuda,
- 2:54that's a whole nother story. I don't want to get into that.
- 2:56What was it like getting a chance to face off with one of
- 3:00the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game?
- 3:04Honestly, I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
- 3:07You know, Brady, he, he stepped it up.
- 3:09He he obviously took first place, but just being amongst
- 3:12everybody there, I mean Michael Rubin, the guys that he's able
- 3:15to bring into that event, there's just, you know, All
- 3:18Stars everywhere in that venue. So you know, you just kind of
- 3:21got to stay level headed the best you can and the mental side
- 3:24of it definitely played a big part.
- 3:26You didn't you didn't worry about James Harden's beard
- 3:29getting in the way of things or or you know, LeBron James
- 3:31watching over you and saying LJALJA come and play for the
- 3:36LJA. You know, LeBron James
- 3:37association. We all know that.
- 3:39Is there anything that really scared you when you had to go
- 3:42face off against some of these superstar athletes and and and
- 3:46guys that you just come to respect multi millionaires out
- 3:50there trying to beat? Oh, just Matthew Dennisch.
- 3:53Yes, unfortunately it was a, it was a three day event and you
- 3:56either went Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
- 3:59And so it's all kind of like spaced out through the day.
- 4:01And I was fortunate enough to go kind of early on Friday.
- 4:06So I posted my, my score and I was actually #1 after I went, so
- 4:10kind of hung out there for a while and I didn't really have
- 4:13to stress about the other guys being around.
- 4:15And I think that kind of paid a low advantage.
- 4:18And then of course, Tom Brady passed me on Friday and then
- 4:21Justin Gaichi passed me on Saturday.
- 4:23So if there was any voted that you competed against, was there
- 4:25anyone you were like, oh, I have to beat this guy?
- 4:28This is the one I want to take down the most.
- 4:30Who wasn't? In my promo video, I called out
- 4:33Brady and I was, you know, hoping to be able to take him
- 4:36down. I'm an Eagles fan, so, you know,
- 4:39had a little history there with Tom.
- 4:42Unfortunately, turns out he's a pretty nice guy, so he treated
- 4:45me very well up on stage, backstage and everything.
- 4:48But yeah, he was the one guy I was going after and of course
- 4:51he's the GOAT and came out on top.
- 4:52Hold on, don't there's a guy named Joe Montana?
- 4:56Don't forget, I think you're too young to get a chance to
- 4:59remember a guy like Joe Montana. Okay, good job.
- 5:02I'm sorry, I'm sorry to cut. No, well, so Matt, kind of like
- 5:05for people that don't know what it is, give them like a like a
- 5:08breakdown of like how you got involved or like what is it?
- 5:11Because it was I mean, we we were involved, but I think
- 5:14there's a lot of people that kind of heard what happened and,
- 5:17you know, obviously I feel like this is going to grow.
- 5:19So like get like how how you got involved, how you knew and what
- 5:22you had to do to like get get to their.
- 5:24It, it's going to be scary the growth that comes from this
- 5:27thing because this was only year two.
- 5:29It was the very first year that average Joes like myself to
- 5:32participate. They had a little bit of that
- 5:34part last year, but you know, it's Michael Rubin.
- 5:36He's running his business, his Fanatics brand, and he's really
- 5:39pushing like the card sales and the venue.
- 5:42It's enormous. The Javits Center in New York
- 5:44City. You can't describe how big this
- 5:47place is. So it's spread out all through.
- 5:49You have vendors everywhere, all these events set up.
- 5:54So yeah, just, you know, the whole reason I got into this was
- 5:56social media and I'm not big on it.
- 5:58I don't post much. I do now, now that I've had the
- 6:01success. I made a little page for myself.
- 6:03But, you know, as far as entering it, Michael Rubin had
- 6:08stuff from from Fanatics and being a Sixers fan and he was
- 6:11kind of, you know, part of that a few years ago, just kind of
- 6:15follow him and he, he promoted it really well.
- 6:18So it had this whole thing and said, you know, come out, try to
- 6:21participate in these events and go against the pros.
- 6:23And that really intrigued me. I've been an athlete my whole
- 6:25life and I saw the little glimpses of the different
- 6:29events. I didn't know how it was going
- 6:30to be run, but basketball, baseball, football, you know,
- 6:33everything that I can do, I was like, you know, why not?
- 6:35They had the prizes of course listed and that was a little
- 6:37intriguing as well. So we are talking to Matthew
- 6:39Dennisch, a fan who won third place in Fanatic Fest this year,
- 6:43and I want to say something, and I don't know if anybody knows
- 6:46this. Tom Brady was actually a really
- 6:47good baseball player, so he could have actually play
- 6:51professional baseball. He chose the right sport.
- 6:53Obviously. I don't think he could argue
- 6:55that he did. And he he's going to go down, if
- 6:57not the greatest, the second greatest.
- 6:59I mean, you can argue and I know everybody calls him the code.
- 7:01I'm not, I'm a, I'm a jet, AKA I'm not.
- 7:05I know you're going to like this.
- 7:06I'm also an Eagles fan. I grew up a Donovan McNabb fan
- 7:10over the years he played when he played for Syracuse, when he was
- 7:12drafted by the Eagles. I fell in love with Donovan and
- 7:16and I actually worked with him at a couple of events and and
- 7:19got to experience hanging out with him.
- 7:21So I I love Donovan. So I root on the Eagles when The
- 7:24Jets suck, which is usually all the time, I root on the Eagles
- 7:28and they won the Super Bowl this year.
- 7:29I was very happy they screwed the Giants.
- 7:31Sticking it to the Giants after landing Saquon Barkley and
- 7:34giving it to him as Fish is sitting there probably mumbling
- 7:37you ass. But nevertheless, I I will say
- 7:40this. I've never got a chance to go to
- 7:42fanatic fest because this year I was on I was on a boat and like
- 7:46I said, I almost got arrested. But over the years, if this is
- 7:50the second year, Michael Rubin has been one of the more
- 7:54respectable, you know, money makers when it comes to selling
- 7:58hats and you know, shirts and all these different sports
- 8:01memorabilia. He has been fantastic.
- 8:04He's made his billions off of it out of his car.
- 8:06What was it like actually hanging out with a guy like
- 8:10Michael Rubin? I mean, I, I, I've, I've heard
- 8:14through the Grapevine, he's not a big guy, but very smart, very
- 8:17educated. He is a big Philadelphia fan.
- 8:20He's from the Philadelphia area. As a matter of fact, he's the
- 8:23one that was pushing to get Meek Mills out of out of jail.
- 8:26If you don't know that story, what is it like hanging out with
- 8:30a guy like Michael Rubin? So I was actually at that game
- 8:33when Meek Mill flew in on the helicopter on the sixth season
- 8:35ticket holder. So actually, you know, like
- 8:38there he is just showing up to the game.
- 8:41But man, Michael Rubin, I'm 6 foot 6.
- 8:43So yeah, he is on the smaller side compared to me.
- 8:45But just his energy. I mean, I was just blown away
- 8:49every time you see him, every time I interacted with him, he
- 8:51was so genuine, so passionate, like coming up to me, talking to
- 8:54me. But he just, he moves so fast
- 8:57and he just, it's no surprise he's as successful as he is.
- 9:00It was just how I was like, how does this guy do this non-stop?
- 9:05I saw some interviews he said leading up to it, this is the
- 9:08hardest event for him to run. It's like the most time
- 9:10consuming and exhausting event. But you can see why.
- 9:15Like, you know, just everything that they have there and he is
- 9:18everywhere. And that's the thing about this
- 9:19event. It's awesome.
- 9:20You see people running all over the place.
- 9:22Like the one time I was standing there like why are there 50
- 9:25people walking that way? Was Tom Brady going down the the
- 9:28escalator? So it's just, you know, people
- 9:31are around constantly. It's just this very immersive
- 9:35event that he he's trying to build and they went from I think
- 9:3880,000 year 1 to 125 year 2. You know, it's it's so funny.
- 9:42He has all these events. He has the 4th of July party,
- 9:45which he threw this year again in the Hamptons, the White Party
- 9:48where only movie stars in big names.
- 9:50Jabba wasn't invited. And when am I getting invited to
- 9:52one of those parties, Michael? I mean, I should be there.
- 9:55I should be the first person you invite and the last person to,
- 9:58you know, get sent home. But you know, I'm not hanging
- 10:00out with Diddy as the Diddler did his things.
- 10:02I'm I'm going to go off that one and and kind of flip to the
- 10:05other one. But the fact is I think Mike and
- 10:08Michael Rubin is a very unique individual.
- 10:11He understands how to bring people together.
- 10:14You also understand how to sell a product that was really sold
- 10:20through the back of his car. He actually promoted his
- 10:23products and, and making his own hats, his own shirts in the back
- 10:27of his car. As we've seen many different
- 10:29millionaires and billionaires make their money in their
- 10:32backyard or make it in their garage.
- 10:34Michael Rubin did out of the, the back of his car.
- 10:36So I, I think it's a, a unique story and I, that's something
- 10:39that if I ever got Michael Rubin on the show, The one thing I
- 10:42would ask Michael Rubin is out of all the different people
- 10:45you've worked with and on obviously billionaires and
- 10:47millionaires, that when it comes to athletes and just business
- 10:50owners, who was the guy that really stood out from you the
- 10:53most? What, what, what guy gave you
- 10:55the most information as, as a guy that has developed the
- 10:59product from nothing to something as as you've seen
- 11:02Michael Rubin do? That's my question.
- 11:04So I mean, Tom Brady, I I've been around Tom Brady.
- 11:08I've been around all these guys. Is there one guy out there right
- 11:12now? If you saw him face to face
- 11:14where you just like, Oh my God, Oh my God, look, Oh my God, it's
- 11:17Donovan McNabb. I don't know what I what what
- 11:20should I say to him? You know what?
- 11:21Is there anybody out there that you just got starstruck?
- 11:26I mean, to be honest, when I was backstage with Brady and them,
- 11:30it wasn't really starstruck, which kind of surprised me.
- 11:33I know everyone looking from the outside like, you know, how are
- 11:36you so calm and everything with those guys?
- 11:39I don't know, it's just my personality, but I don't think
- 11:42there is anyone that would be really awesome to meet.
- 11:44Some people like Joel Embiid or something, be cool to just kind
- 11:48of see him on in a different side.
- 11:49But I think just. Matt, there's nobody, there's
- 11:54nobody out there right now. If you were standing right next
- 11:57to him, you wouldn't be like, Oh my God, I'm, I'm, I'm having a
- 12:02conversation with this guy. There's nobody, nobody.
- 12:05I. Don't know, maybe the Kelsey
- 12:07brothers. They're pretty OK.
- 12:08All right, all. Right, we got something out of
- 12:11Matt. Something.
- 12:11There you go all. Right.
- 12:12Not supplying for new heights as we speak.
- 12:14All right, I want to I want to shift gears that there was a
- 12:18big, obviously the big one of the big trades that broke in the
- 12:20NBA offseason was Kevin Durant to the Rockets literally while
- 12:24he was there. What was the crowd vibe like
- 12:26from that and the reaction from him when when they found out?
- 12:30Well, they, I don't know if you saw the special they just
- 12:31streamed or had on ESPN the other night, but they broke it
- 12:36down by segments and had, you know, had his reaction.
- 12:39And I was kind of in the midst of doing my stuff when it
- 12:43happened. So I didn't really get to see
- 12:44everything that was on stage. That's kind of the cool thing
- 12:46was like just off on the side and you hear about it like just
- 12:50how he was totally shocked and going back and watching that
- 12:52special and, and seeing him, it's like he did, he didn't
- 12:55know. Like it was just totally he was
- 12:58finding out the same time everybody else found out.
- 13:01I want to I want to know. All right, They they asked this
- 13:04other corny stuff. OK, what's been the perks of of
- 13:08of Yeah, you're corny corn. We we want to know.
- 13:12Obviously we knew the 250. It's coming from a guy that has
- 13:14a beard. You.
- 13:15Know and coming from a guy who lives in a state with corn.
- 13:19Like that's my choice. Pass.
- 13:22Liquor. I can't.
- 13:23I can't tell where my I was born at.
- 13:25Not like. Jabba likes my shrimp cocktail.
- 13:28Shut up, Nathan. But what like the perch?
- 13:32Do you get to go back next year? Is there stuff like with
- 13:35fanatics that that you're doing now or like what comes along
- 13:39with all of that afterwards? Like I think that's the cool
- 13:41part of like getting people involved.
- 13:43It's not just a one and done. Is there a bunch of other stuff
- 13:46or like what has been some of the perks that you've noticed or
- 13:50that have come your way since since all this went down?
- 13:54That is a good question. Yeah.
- 13:55So that's the first time none of you got good questions so slow.
- 13:59My back out. You know, it's been a learning
- 14:02process for me for sure. I've never been a part of
- 14:05anything like this. I'm a teacher at a high school
- 14:08and, you know, our days are kind of, you know, the same pretty
- 14:11much day in, day out. So part of the reason I got into
- 14:15this is just branching out. I like to find other things that
- 14:17excite me. So I didn't know how to handle
- 14:21everything. When I was finished and was up
- 14:22on stage with all this stuff happened so quickly afterwards,
- 14:26of course, you know, I started to get some contacts with PR
- 14:28people and finance side of things and just a whole
- 14:32different world than I'm used to as far as education.
- 14:36So yeah, of course I really haven't said no.
- 14:39That was kind of my thing, like don't say no to anything.
- 14:41Just kind of see what opportunities open up.
- 14:44It has been a lot of media been over like 30, some 40 some
- 14:47interviews just talking to different media outlets.
- 14:50The half company Noggin boss give them a shout out.
- 14:54That was the one that they sought me out when I arrived on
- 14:58Sunday and had a good idea that I was going to win third place.
- 15:03So they, I didn't know it, but they just saw me and came up to
- 15:06me and I was just watching the golf event take place.
- 15:09And they asked me what my favorite team was.
- 15:12And they want to send me one of their big hats.
- 15:15And I said I was a Birds fan. And they said, well, we got one
- 15:17right here in our hand. Why don't you just take this
- 15:19one? So it's just all natural.
- 15:20And I was like, I got to wear this up on stage.
- 15:22So I wore it on stage. And if you saw the pictures
- 15:25there, it just kind of made a statement.
- 15:27So they've been working with me a little bit, making some videos
- 15:31for them. They're going to send me some
- 15:32more hats and that kind of thing.
- 15:34But you know, fanatics, you know, they haven't said
- 15:38officially if I'm going to come back or not next year.
- 15:40You are. I don't know when it is there,
- 15:42but I would hope they would. No, listen, if if Michael Rubin
- 15:47doesn't have you back, then Michael Rubin's a little blind,
- 15:50but Michael Rubin is a businessman and he knows that
- 15:52you're going to be a draw. And now for all the things that
- 15:55you have had opportunities to do since that, I think it's going
- 15:59to open up optional, you know, you know, different competitions
- 16:03that you could join and not just the Michael Rubin fanatic.
- 16:06They'll they'll be optional. You know, summer, I don't know,
- 16:11there might be something out there where they're going to be
- 16:13other athletes saying, you know what, I can, I could beat
- 16:15Matthew, Matthew Denish at this. Let let's set something up and
- 16:18and you're going to have an opportunity to win some more
- 16:20money because, you know, guys like James Harden, who I I think
- 16:23is an airhead, will probably get so jealous or is probably so
- 16:27jealous of you because he couldn't get over the hump
- 16:30where, you know, he might want to beat you or try to beat you
- 16:33at something because he can beat you there.
- 16:35So I, I think there are a lot of crazy athletes out there
- 16:38thinking, Hey, you know what, Matthew Denish is lucky.
- 16:40Matthew Denish doesn't really have any athletic ability.
- 16:44Who the hell is Matthew Denish? Well, Matthew Dennis is a guy
- 16:47that just won 250K. He's making, you know,
- 16:50endorsement deals. And now by the way, I don't know
- 16:53what his Instagram has. He's got 10,000 people following
- 16:56him just because of a damn game at Fanatic Fest.
- 16:59But listen, Matt, we love you man.
- 17:02Congratulations dude. I appreciate it was awesome.
- 17:05Yes, And by the way, a smile of, you know, Tom Brady handing you
- 17:10a pile of money should be something that you can celebrate
- 17:13forever because you are a Philadelphia Eagle fan.
- 17:16And who beat, yes, Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.
- 17:19That's right, the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 17:21And I remember Nick Foles, the MVP.
- 17:24Who would have thought that? Yeah, that's who I want to talk
- 17:26to. I want to get Nick Foles on this
- 17:27show. I want to tell Nick, what was it
- 17:29like kicking? You know what's you know, But at
- 17:32the Super Bowl, even though Tom Brady had his best Super Bowl
- 17:35against the Eagles, if you remember.
- 17:36He just can't catch the ball. What are you trying to do, Fish?
- 17:41You're trying to get me in trouble here anyways.
- 17:44You know, Matt, what was it, first of all, when Nathan
- 17:47reached out to you and asked you to come on the show?
- 17:49Have you ever heard of our show, by the way?
- 17:51Have you ever heard of this show?
- 17:53I have not my one cousin guy give him a shout out.
- 17:59Wayne, he's up. He's a New Yorker.
- 18:01And when I said Jabba Chamberlain, he goes, oh, man,
- 18:05there's a name. So yeah, he he actually came
- 18:08down to the event and he's a big Yankees fan, but he support me.
- 18:13He wore a Phillies hat. He bought 1 hopping off the the
- 18:16train station. He he that.
- 18:18That was probably tough for him. That was probably tough.
- 18:21Oh, it was. It was all black.
- 18:23It wasn't. For sure.
- 18:26But man, he showed up, had some energy.
- 18:27It was just great to have someone from the the local area
- 18:30to to support me up there. But yeah.
- 18:33You know, you know, Matt, you know what's really interesting,
- 18:35if you never got a chance to see it now that you've become a fan
- 18:38of the show, is actually C Jabba wearing a onesie.
- 18:41That, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the ugliest things to
- 18:44look at. This guy, when he started on
- 18:47this show, during the winter time, he would wear a onesie
- 18:50every other show, a different color, different weird onesie.
- 18:54And this guy is like a onesie phenomenon.
- 18:56We should actually hook up with a sponsor that's like a onesie
- 19:00company. And forever, forever lazy.com.
- 19:02That's all I that's all I wear so.
- 19:04Why don't we reach out to Forever Lazy?
- 19:06But Matthew, maybe we set something up and we get you in
- 19:09the studio, or maybe we'll do something together.
- 19:12We'll cut up this interview. You can post it up on your
- 19:15social media. And we want you to be a fan.
- 19:17We want you to promote us just as much as we'll promote you.
- 19:21I will be well. Matt, will you give everybody to
- 19:24like your social just on like, you know, things that you're
- 19:27doing, whether it's IG, Twitter, I know Fish probably put your IG
- 19:30up, but just for everybody to hear it.
- 19:33Yeah, so it's just Average Joe under score Dennis, my last name
- 19:37and just been posting stuff like leading up to the event and some
- 19:42of the interviews I've done. Just kind of given an inside
- 19:44glimpse if people want to do this and apply for the event.
- 19:47Kind of what it takes and the mentality side of things which
- 19:50you have because a lot of people can, you know, throw some, you
- 19:53know, football, baseball, but my kind of start to finish of a
- 19:56little bit of like a cheat code of my mental side of things
- 20:00that's kind of posted on there as well.
- 20:01Why don't you try? Why don't you try the hot dog
- 20:04eating contest next year for 4th of July?
- 20:06That would be cool. But he was there.
- 20:08He was doing the chicken eating contest.
- 20:12Yeah, wasn't it the, wasn't it raising canes or whatever it
- 20:15was? Yeah, raising Canes.
- 20:16And then there was like a team of four, like Libby Dunn was
- 20:19there, Michael Rubin did it, but they had like 4 verse Joey and
- 20:22Joey's still 1. Well, we saw Joey Chestnuts at
- 20:25Oh well, chestnut or he might have nuts or maybe one nut.
- 20:29Speedy's got one, but we saw him at the Super Bowl at Radio Row,
- 20:32So and we're we're working on getting him on the show.
- 20:35That would be really, really cool.
- 20:36Joey's he's a great personnel. Everything that he does right
- 20:40now off air and he stands for a lot for some average Joe person
- 20:45like you to to do what he has done over the years and make hot
- 20:49dog eating a sport and a sport that really center stage what
- 20:54eating. Really eating as a whole.
- 20:57I mean, just it's eating has become a sport.
- 21:00I mean, you. I would love to see that in the
- 21:02Olympics. Why not?
- 21:03You have. All these Major League eating.
- 21:06Now let's see that in the Olympics.
- 21:08Why not? I mean all these guys.
- 21:10They have walking. Yeah, well, they have
- 21:12everything. They had break dancing this past
- 21:15year. They're going to have EA, you
- 21:18know, E sports, E sports soon for video games.
- 21:21So why not have hot dog eating or just eating?
- 21:25There's a guy that ate beans. I don't remember what it was.
- 21:28What was it, 100 cans of beans? And like, oh, yeah, I did hear
- 21:30about that. Like, like in a minute and 30
- 21:32seconds. There's some.
- 21:33Crazy. You can.
- 21:34You can go. You can go to Major League
- 21:36eating and it gives you all of the records like like 108
- 21:40deviled eggs in like 8 minutes or something.
- 21:42It's crazy. Could you imagine me eat like
- 21:44100 cans of beans and how many times or how how bad my farts
- 21:48would be? I mean I my my farts don't
- 21:51smell. Yeah, that'll be the test for
- 21:52you. Could you actually?
- 21:53Could you smell? Maple farts coming out of my
- 21:56rear end. I mean, I, I want to try
- 21:57something. I don't know if you've ever
- 21:58watched a show, Matt, I, I put, you know, Icy hot on my scrotum
- 22:03for 10 minutes. I broke a Gators book of world
- 22:05records and I'm I want to do something else.
- 22:07I want to light a match, you know, and fart and see if it
- 22:12actually, I've heard stories that if you fart and because of
- 22:15the gas that comes out of your ass, it can light the, you know,
- 22:18light it on fire. I want to.
- 22:19Try that on. It's called.
- 22:20It's called methane gas, yes. OK, so I want to try it on
- 22:23National Honor Radio show and see how it works.
- 22:26Matt, would you actually watch the show?
- 22:28If I did that? I know I'd burn the hairs in my
- 22:30ass and whatever I have left in it, you know?
- 22:32You seem like a very talented, skilled man.
- 22:34So I I'm a little I. Think that would happen?
- 22:36Hey, before we let you go, Matt, was there, was there one sport
- 22:39that all the things you did that you surprised yourself at?
- 22:42Oh for sure, it was baseball. I can throw, but it was you got
- 22:476 pitches and you can appreciate this.
- 22:51They did nine boxes within the strike zone, so.
- 22:54I, I saw some of the, I saw some of those athletes throw.
- 22:57Oh, it was rough. Well, we didn't know that the
- 23:00corners were five points. Oh, OK.
- 23:02That center was one and the other four were three points.
- 23:06So placing in the corners, I ended up hitting four out of my
- 23:096 throws in the corner. So I ended up first place out of
- 23:13all 100 people and it was like Russell Wilson was there and you
- 23:16said Tom Brady could play baseball.
- 23:18Like all those guys that have that background.
- 23:20My that was the reason I won. Just be able to place them in
- 23:23the right spot. So for sure surprise myself.
- 23:26Where are the Yankees? Wasn't where are?
- 23:28The Yankees. Where are the Yankees?
- 23:30We need some bullpen help. Go steal Russell Wilson from the
- 23:33Giants. We'll take him.
- 23:37I'm going to lose my voice before the show's over.
- 23:39I'm losing it all right. Anyways, Matt, we really
- 23:43appreciate the time. Nathan is a big fan of yours and
- 23:46he was the one that helped us get you on the show.
- 23:49And we'd love to get you on the show again.
- 23:50And we'd love for you to be a fan of our show.
- 23:53And, and, and we're going to promote you.
- 23:55We have, you're the first guy that has been a part of the
- 23:58fanatic fest that's been on our show.
- 24:00And it actually means something. And I, I just wish you the best
- 24:03man. And and let's get you, let's get
- 24:05you on multiple times in the next couple of months and, and
- 24:08see what you're doing, see where you're at.
- 24:10For sure, and I appreciate this. A lot of fun, maybe you guys
- 24:14should attend next year. Absolutely.
- 24:16Well, why don't you tell Michael Rubin to actually invite us?
- 24:20How's that? I won't go on, you know, these
- 24:22boat trips during these these crazy events.
- 24:25I mean, I should be there. I don't know if I'd win.
- 24:27I'd love to see Jabba. First of all.
- 24:29We have a bet and this is going to happen.
- 24:31I have told Jabba that. Out of how many times, Speedy?
- 24:34I don't remember exactly. That I thought it.
- 24:36Was 10 times I could steal. I could steal at least once
- 24:39against him with a person, with a catcher and a person at the
- 24:42plate, and he's got a pitch against them.
- 24:44I could steal against them. We're going to get this going
- 24:46before the year is over, before the summer is over.
- 24:49I want to do this. We're going to meet in New
- 24:50Jersey or something, something. And if I win, he's got to take
- 24:54all of us out to a nice steak dinner.
- 24:56That would be great, wouldn't it?
- 24:57And we'll bring you. How about that?
- 24:58You could come and watch us. You could be a spectator because
- 25:01you live. Over.
- 25:02Oh yeah, winner. Winner has to take.
- 25:04Everybody to dinner. Everybody to dinner.
- 25:05Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
- 25:08And hey, Matt, Matt, I don't know if you just read this, but
- 25:11Nathan said he's going to enter the Fanatics games next all.
- 25:14Right, Nathan, you're going to compete in your blue blazer.
- 25:16Oh, please. I He posted up a picture, a
- 25:19video of him throwing a football and the first thing Jabba says
- 25:23is you got to work on your undercarriage.
- 25:26Yeah, work on that lower arrow question.
- 25:28Which athlete would be best? Significant.
- 25:30Blue Blazer. OH, hey, fish.
- 25:32Matt. Matt, have you seen this outfit
- 25:34that Nitin rocks in this famous blue blazer that he has his
- 25:38fish. If you can pull this.
- 25:40He posted this and he was so excited.
- 25:42But this outfit was rough. And you as a teacher, you
- 25:46probably see granted PE, but you probably see in the hallway some
- 25:50some crazy outfits. This this was this was rough,
- 25:55man. Yeah, and we want to.
- 25:59He wears it everywhere, so we're trying to get him to have all
- 26:01the athletes like sign it and that'd be sweet and he could
- 26:04wear it to all these events. Yes.
- 26:07I think it's it's so close to his heart.
- 26:09I don't think he can. Do it.
- 26:10I think he's lost. I think he really wants to
- 26:13believe that this blazer makes him the sexiest man alive.
- 26:16I really do believe. And he wears these cargo pants,
- 26:20these. Cargo camo pants?
- 26:23Yes, exactly. And a red shirt, a red like a
- 26:27polo shirt under it. It is it.
- 26:29Is the best luck. It is the best luck.
- 26:31It's definitely something that really stands for Nathan and his
- 26:34personality. Do we have that fish?
- 26:36Are we getting that up? He says he lost it.
- 26:39Oh, he lost it. Oh, that sucks.
- 26:40We'll send that to you, Matt. We'll send that.
- 26:42To you. Yeah, we'll send it.
- 26:43Absolutely. It's something to definitely
- 26:44look at, but. Could any of you guys pull it
- 26:46off? I think I could.
- 26:50Got the real question Who Who be able to win a competition the
- 26:52best of the Blue Blazer? You know, it's weird because I'm
- 26:55a very particular fashion person, so I don't know if I
- 26:59would even be caught dead with any of those colors.
- 27:02But Nathan is one of those unique individuals that will
- 27:07wear anything and be anything at any time.
- 27:11So including this, yes, it is definitely a unique look and
- 27:17something that you probably would never see anybody wear but
- 27:19him. But nevertheless, I don't think
- 27:22it would fit you. That blue blazer, you're 66.
- 27:24Forget it. That blazer wouldn't even fit on
- 27:27your your half your body. I mean, look at Nathan.
- 27:29He's 5 foot 6. He's got a great personality.
- 27:32There's no question that he does.
- 27:33And that's why everybody loves him.
- 27:34He's like a little cute Oompa Loompa.
- 27:36You know, like a Smurf. Hey, where's the blue?
- 27:39Where's the Smurf? Anyways, Matt, we love you.
- 27:42Keep up the good work bud. Appreciate it.
- 27:45Much appreciated, you guys are awesome.
- 27:47Matthew Danish. I got his name right, ladies.
- 27:50I called him a Danish. But hey, I like Danish.
- 27:53Just speedy. You like danishes, some flavors.
- 27:55I like cinnamon. You like those cinnamon muffins?
- 27:58Those are good. I absolutely like that, but.
- 28:02You guys are spoiled up there though because you guys get good
- 28:04bakeries. We do got like maybe 1.
- 28:08That's true, I definitely could say that we are spoiled when it
- 28:11comes to the bakeries and the cakes.
- 28:12By the way, King Cullen was closed down over here in Seldon.
- 28:15So how many King Cullen's are getting closed down?
- 28:17I love King Cullen's bakery and I'm promoting them.
- 28:21Yes, King Cullen, you should be promoting our show.
- 28:24So you got to watch, you got to watch your blood sugar, damn it.
- 28:27I, I should. No, no, that's not, that's not
- 28:29mine. It's my A1C, ladies and
- 28:31gentlemen. Or whatever it is.
- 28:32I'm pre diabetic as we all know but guys guess what it's been 12
- 28:37or 30 14 days without a sugar drink.
- 28:39So I've been sticking to Mio and water and I am doing a good job.
- 28:43So shout out to fish for giving me some advice and staying out
- 28:47of sugar trouble. Anyways I had I had Pizza Hut
- 28:50last night I had to I was hungry.
- 28:52I was at the mechanic shop for six hours.
- 28:55My friend it took him 3 hours to look at my car and he found
- 28:59thank God the the advance auto. I'm giving another shout out to
- 29:02Advance Auto Actually got had the parts that I needed to fix
- 29:06my car. So shout out to Advance Auto for
- 29:08saving my life. I was going to read some pics
- 29:10from Wes. He had three picks in the CFL
- 29:12this week. He's got Saskatchewan, they play
- 29:14tomorrow at home -4 1/2 against the Calgary Stampeders.
- 29:18Saturday night, January 7:00 he's got or Sunday night I
- 29:23should say, BC -2 1/2 they're playing on the road at Edmonton.
- 29:27That's Sunday at 7:00. And then on Saturday night the
- 29:30Ottawa Red Blacks covering plus 5 1/2 on the road against the
- 29:34Hamilton Tiger. Just so you guys know how on
- 29:36point he is when it comes to the CFL, since he started, the
- 29:41season has started he's been 81%.
- 29:44So I he is on point with the Canadian Football League.
- 29:48So if you guys, I know, I know somebody that doesn't like it
- 29:51and that is the one and only call as I got a drop for him.
- 29:55Here it is. Carl plays with himself as.
- 29:57We all know Carl plays with himself.
- 29:59Carl will also never appreciate W because W did say like one
- 30:03team you'll never bet on. It's Michigan.
- 30:04Either that's true too. And and and I don't blame him
- 30:07because besides the national championship that they won with
- 30:10Jim Harbaugh before he, you know, decided to flee and go to
- 30:14go to the Chargers. Well, ladies and gentlemen, the
- 30:17old and the only thing our friend Carl could say is, oh,
- 30:21they didn't cheat. That was fair.
- 30:23I by the way, I don't, I don't think Michigan should have got
- 30:27in trouble as much as they did in the way that all happened.
- 30:30But that's a whole nother story. Anyways, why don't we get into
- 30:32our next subject in our segment as we call this the whip around.
- 30:40Whip, whip, whip around. The whipper on.
- 30:48Did you like that, Speedy? That was like, I don't know
- 30:50what. It's a much better upgrade from
- 30:53your clown laugh. That laugh, that.
- 30:57You haven't done in the like years.
- 30:59Well, that was sacred, you know, That's a sacred laugh that I
- 31:02used on the show and it scared the shit out of everybody that
- 31:05listened to the show then. You started using it on Jeff and
- 31:07it was much better. Oh, well, Jeff is a whole
- 31:10another world. I mean, I wanted to you know,
- 31:12there was so many times that Jeff came on the show that he
- 31:14just pissed me off so much that we had this remember we had that
- 31:17picture of him sitting on a boat and like sinking.
- 31:20Remember that? That was great.
- 31:22By the way, the. Best one was the one with the
- 31:24beef though. Oh God, the Beaver, I got to
- 31:26find that. I got to find that I had I had
- 31:29his face on on on the beef on the Beaver and I had his mom on
- 31:34the other. That is great.
- 31:35And I actually have a picture of his mother sitting on my lap
- 31:38during Thanksgiving, and I posted that.
- 31:40That's pretty nice too. I love his mother.
- 31:42His mother's the best. So the bee's mother loves me and
- 31:45I love her, and if she wasn't married, maybe she'd be taking
- 31:48care of me, if you know what I mean.
- 31:50Anyways, let's go. We got the whip around coming up
- 31:53right here. We got a few stories, guys.
- 31:55Yes, for today, we're going to start off with the NFLPA.
- 32:01Now, Errol, we mentioned this a week ago and I think we were
- 32:06right. And we actually broke a story
- 32:07because the NFLPA executive director, Lloyd Howell junior,
- 32:12they found out that he's doing consulting work on the side for
- 32:16a firm that is investing in NFL ownership, meaning he's playing
- 32:22both sides of the fence. That's not exactly what you
- 32:25want. So looks like I'm still having
- 32:29technical difficulty. Guys, that's hard.
- 32:31I think I'm going to be able to fix it.
- 32:32All right, it's all tough. We're going to be able to get
- 32:34it. Well, somebody's got to get it
- 32:36right, Speedy. Maybe it'll be Nathan's
- 32:38department. Well, Nathan wears that blue
- 32:40blazer, so he might be a little. Lost He'll he'll get he'll get
- 32:43everything with the blue blazer. Well, I it'll finish it off with
- 32:47the leash. I mean, if I had a strap or, you
- 32:49know, a whip, I I wonder how Nathan would react if I.
- 32:52The whip is don't match for Nathan's amazing leash.
- 32:55I, I mean, seriously, I, I don't know if Nathan can handle the,
- 32:58that leash sound. If I actually put a leash on
- 33:01somebody that he loved, one of his loved ones, I actually took
- 33:04him out for a walk. It took him a stroll around the
- 33:06park. Nathan loves those leashes, by
- 33:08the way. But yeah, all.
- 33:10Right, looks, looks like we're working now guys.
- 33:12Sorry about that. That was Part 1.
- 33:15Nathan does love leashes. The second part of the Nathan
- 33:18loving leashes thingy. I guess it's not.
- 33:20Worth it? Let.
- 33:22Me pull it back up. Dodger.
- 33:24There is somebody duty dodging, and it might be.
- 33:27That's we, we got a little bit higher pixel rate, so I got to
- 33:30be a little bit more careful with these files guys.
- 33:32So we talked about last week, the collusion that was covered
- 33:35up by Howells NFLPA because of the Shawn Watson concept
- 33:39contract was all guaranteed money.
- 33:41And well, then the Goodell went around to everyone and tried to
- 33:44get them to not give out the guaranteed money.
- 33:47They had them dead to rights and they signed some backroom deal,
- 33:51Howell and Goodell, that allowed them to collude in this manner.
- 33:55And now we're finding out that he's also working for a
- 33:57consulting firm, Errol, trying to buy into NFL ownership.
- 34:02Why don't we start there with just how corrupt the NFL is?
- 34:07Well, I think all professional sports have corrupt people and
- 34:10Howell is just one of those people that are trying to
- 34:13educate you on how to screw around.
- 34:17Not just with the NFL and and what the NFL does behind the
- 34:20scenes with it when it comes to players and colluding with the
- 34:24ownership and the players, but also colluding with Ferns that
- 34:27are helping him get richer. And I'm not surprised that
- 34:31Howell, I don't know him personally and I don't know much
- 34:33about him, but the the story is, is that that this guy is under
- 34:39under advancing himself in many different ways with an
- 34:43organization like the NFL that is a multi billion dollar
- 34:46organization bringing in money after money and thousands and
- 34:50millions and trillions of dollars over the last couple of
- 34:53years through endorsements and and players.
- 34:56The players run the league, should run the league, but the
- 34:59owners have Rodger Goodell persuading them to believe that
- 35:04they are running the league. Now if the players decide to
- 35:07after the CBA to go on strike and and try to get more money,
- 35:11then the the the owners are going to have to buy into the
- 35:13situation for what it is. But Howell is not anything more
- 35:17than I believe a puppet. And I don't think Howell is the
- 35:21only person getting involved with this.
- 35:22Well, I just think he's the center stage voice of what's
- 35:25going on that we don't know. Speedy, they said that that this
- 35:30is the first time there's ever been a issue like this with the
- 35:32union head where he was working outside of being the union head
- 35:38and getting money elsewhere as far as like a salary.
- 35:42It seems it seems. Shady or he was the only one
- 35:44that got caught, right? Well, but he's like brazen and
- 35:47saying I'm not going to stop. You guys can say whatever you
- 35:49want. I'm just going to do it and make
- 35:51three and a half, $1,000,000 from the union to be its head
- 35:55while I'm working actively by the way it seems against the
- 35:59union. Yep, that's as corrupt as it
- 36:01gets. That's where you're benefiting
- 36:02on both sides and it gets like corrupt from an individual.
- 36:04Standpoint if Roger, and honestly, if Roger Goodell gives
- 36:07a crap, why doesn't Roger Goodell step in and do something
- 36:10about? It because he benefits from it
- 36:11just going. To say, Roger, that's why he can
- 36:13do it, because he's not going to stop it.
- 36:15Exactly there you got your own answer right there, ladies and
- 36:18gentlemen. So me, it's like the players,
- 36:20Jabba, if, if this was happening in baseball while you're still
- 36:23playing, wouldn't there be a revolt amongst the players and
- 36:26try to remove the BPA leader? Well, yeah, you look at it,
- 36:30yeah, both ways, too. And think about like when the
- 36:33scabs cross the line in the strike, like they didn't like
- 36:36those guys like getting jobs in baseball.
- 36:38And like, well, you cross the line and now you're trying to
- 36:41double dip because it's like, well, I'm not going to make it,
- 36:43but I can. I can still get paid because I'm
- 36:45not, you know, a lifelong big leader.
- 36:47You're not going to get anything.
- 36:48It just sucks. You put everybody kind of in a
- 36:50bad situation because you're really like, what the hell you
- 36:53do. But if you're in Goodell's
- 36:54pocket and still making him money, as you've seen it, the
- 36:58owners pay him. So if he's like, I'm still going
- 37:00to make my whatever the amount is and you don't care, then I
- 37:05guess I'll collude or whatever we call it and still do it.
- 37:09I mean, I guess the collusion thing made sense because the
- 37:12Browns contract was that stupid, right?
- 37:14I guess everyone's. Like it made sense.
- 37:16For this one, we'll collude because the Browns are stupid,
- 37:20but it's still real fishy, man. You know what's real fishy?
- 37:24Why doesn't TJ Watt have a contract and Deshaun Watson's
- 37:27making hundreds of millions of dollars?
- 37:30That's what I want. To know that that is a great
- 37:33question. Another great question is why
- 37:35did the Falcons give Kirk Cousins all this money just to
- 37:39draft Michael Pennix? Because on the new season of
- 37:42Quarterback on Netflix, which just came out this week, Errol.
- 37:45No, I got to check it out. Cousins admitted he was really
- 37:48upset by this. Didn't you say taken back?
- 37:53Is that what he was taken aback? Taken, which is like, which is
- 37:56what like older people always would say to try to be like, I'm
- 38:00not mad, I'm disappointed. You know, it's it's like one of
- 38:03those. So we got to talk about Kirk
- 38:06Cousins. He's I mean, they said they're
- 38:08not going to trade him. It just seems crazy as soon as
- 38:11there's the first major injury amongst quarterbacks that his
- 38:15name isn't going to be the one that's on the move.
- 38:17Well, that's why they're not going to trade him because
- 38:20they're, they're want, they want everybody to believe that
- 38:23they're going to keep him. And if anything happens to
- 38:25Michael Pennix, remember, Michael Pennix is a young guy.
- 38:27If, if he starts the season very cold or there's a little bit too
- 38:31much pressure on him, what are they going to do?
- 38:33They're going to bring Kirk Cousins in.
- 38:35I, I just think right now the reason why they did that was
- 38:38pretty specific. They were bringing in.
- 38:40They didn't think Michael Pennix was going to develop the way he
- 38:45did throughout the offseason and actually even played this year.
- 38:48Remember, he came back from a bad.
- 38:51Answer who did? Who did we have on?
- 38:53And he was like, why would you play panics at this point?
- 38:55Like it's just going to tell you.
- 38:56To Ovi. Ovi.
- 38:59And then literally the next, I wasn't the, I think it was the
- 39:02next week, right? Two weeks.
- 39:04Later from when we had him on, Yeah, yeah.
- 39:06I just, I actually believe that nobody thought Michael Pennix
- 39:09was going to be ready this year and he was working to come back
- 39:13as quick as he possibly can. And again, Atlanta, nobody would
- 39:16have thought that at one point Michael Pennix, some people
- 39:19didn't even think was a first round draft back that he was
- 39:22going to fall into the early second round.
- 39:24But then obviously Atlanta loved him.
- 39:27They loved the interview that he had.
- 39:29He's a big team leader, a guy that really has a great arm and
- 39:33he showed it at some point to this this past season.
- 39:36But again, he's a young guy and Atlanta is is a team that is
- 39:40trying to find a spark, a team that had Ryan there, who is
- 39:44going to be Maddie Ice, who is going to be a Hall of Famer.
- 39:47And and they wanted another face to that organization, an owner
- 39:51that was looking for another face to that organization.
- 39:53Kirk Cousins was not. It's going to be that face.
- 39:56And I think Kirk Cousins was upset the fact that him and I
- 40:00think Kirk Cousin wanted to go over there to Atlanta because
- 40:02his wife's family is from that Atlanta, from the Atlanta area.
- 40:06So that I don't think it was necessarily why he was getting
- 40:10paid. He did get his money.
- 40:12But Kirk Cousins has to understand it's this is a young
- 40:15man's sport. And Michael Pennis is that next
- 40:18big thing for the Atlanta Falcons besides Acunia.
- 40:23Is there anybody from in Atlanta right now that really stands?
- 40:26And don't say Trey Young. No Michael Pennix is the next
- 40:29big star in Atlanta, and they're in Atlanta and the Falcons are
- 40:32going to try to put him center stage as fast as they possibly
- 40:36can. Why?
- 40:37To sell tickets and sell jerseys.
- 40:40That's what they're there for, to make moolah.
- 40:42And nobody wants a car. Cottage, Jersey.
- 40:45Yeah, it's also a bit of problem the last couple years too, even
- 40:48getting the fans from what they were when even with the
- 40:50futuristic stadium they have post Georgia Dome era because
- 40:53they haven't won much but and Georgia with their success in
- 40:56college football, it's kind of outdone them at Mercedes-Benz
- 40:59Stadium. So so they definitely need a
- 41:00spark now obviously keeping him on the roster, but mainly for
- 41:03cap situation where they can't move him for any good value.
- 41:06So you might as well keep him. And the other thing, even if
- 41:08Panics doesn't struggle, he still might get hurt.
- 41:10He had two major injuries in college too, so it's another
- 41:13thing to consider. Don't you think that it's a
- 41:16fireable offense to tie up $40 million in cap on a backup
- 41:20quarterback? Of course.
- 41:22What are you? Doing I say Terry Potnow is a
- 41:24great GM. But like, to me, that's a
- 41:26fireable offense, Jabba, if you were paying.
- 41:29But this like when they paid, you know, Jacoby Ellsbury, all
- 41:33that money not to play it. It's the equivalent, isn't?
- 41:36It yeah, I mean, but it's it's usually usually not that usually
- 41:40you're getting those guys that you're still paying, you know, 3
- 41:42to 5 million any I get you taking a back, but then you can
- 41:49you still want to have somebody and and Kirk Cousins, I wouldn't
- 41:53say is Doo Doo magoo. He's serviceable.
- 41:56That's a good. One and you and you have
- 41:59somebody that can step in for if if Penny concerts like Speedy
- 42:03said he's had he's had some serious injuries before.
- 42:06So he's thrown to that. So I don't but to have that
- 42:11amount of money as a backup quarterback fish.
- 42:13I agree. Like it's you kind of got to
- 42:15shake your head first of all, what really is like your
- 42:18direction? What is your direction?
- 42:19I disagree with you guys because Atlanta's trying to go young
- 42:22right now and they didn't. They're not using their money
- 42:26anywhere else. They drafted 2 defensive
- 42:28lineman. They're not going.
- 42:30They're not bringing in veteran guys that they're going to
- 42:32overpay. And Kirk Cousins is, I believe,
- 42:35a piece that they're going to move.
- 42:37They could say whatever they want.
- 42:38The whole point of bring Kirk Cousins in in is because he
- 42:41wanted the money and they knew that Michael Pennix was probably
- 42:45going to be ready the second year and they were going to use
- 42:47him as trade bait. And right now, if you were to
- 42:49ask me right now who is the best available quarterback if need
- 42:54be, it's Kirk Cousins. It's not even an argument.
- 42:57So I think the fact is Atlanta looked at Kirk Cousins as a
- 43:01trade ship one way or another in the four years or the three
- 43:05years that he signed to go over there to Atlanta.
- 43:07I don't think it was a bad move. I don't think it was a smart
- 43:10move. I just think that Kirk Cousins
- 43:12was either going to take that money or he was going to go
- 43:14somewhere else where he's going to get paid.
- 43:16Somebody was paying him. Atlanta just thought, hey, you
- 43:18know what? We need a starting quarterback
- 43:20at least one year. Let's go after the best one that
- 43:22was available. I don't know it to me, like at
- 43:26$40 million, that's a bunch of pieces that would make your team
- 43:29better. Daniel Jones made 40 million.
- 43:31That's not a lot of. And see how good the Giants
- 43:34were. Well.
- 43:34I again, I'm, I'm looking at the facts here.
- 43:38Kirk Cousins before last year was a pretty good quarterback
- 43:41before he he tore his Achilles. As a matter of fact, if you look
- 43:44at his numbers, you would say that he was amongst the top ten
- 43:48in the league. I disagree.
- 43:49He was one of the worst quarterbacks.
- 43:51In football, last. Year.
- 43:52He tore his The Killers before the season.
- 43:53I'm not talking about last year, I'm talking about 23 after the
- 43:57fact. Oh, before he got hurt.
- 44:00Yes, yes. So they were predicting.
- 44:01Kobe was one of the best players in the world before he tore his.
- 44:04The killers couldn't play after. Football's different quarterback
- 44:06positions different. So basketball maybe you're
- 44:09jumping and quarterback you're just standing and and you're
- 44:12throwing the ball. He's stepping into the throw.
- 44:14So I don't know. All right.
- 44:16Let's move on to the guys that protect that quarterback and
- 44:18Tristan worse. Tristan worse, one of the best
- 44:20left tackles in all of football for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 44:24He's going to miss the at least four first four games he's going
- 44:27to put on the PUP list. He is.
- 44:31You know, obviously they've said that when they had that big
- 44:33draft with Andrew Thomas, worse was the only one that everyone
- 44:36said was clearly the number one guy after that year and he
- 44:40stayed the number one guy even with Thomas playing great at at
- 44:43stretches. Speedy, let's start with you on
- 44:46this one. What does a worse injury look
- 44:50like for this team? Because you know, you got Baker
- 44:53Mayfield. He's not the fastest
- 44:55quarterback, but he is a pocket kind of quarterback.
- 44:58I, I do I, I do think he can scramble some, but I think this
- 45:01is going to affect their offense.
- 45:02Yeah, it it was a big issue for them in 2022 when Worst was
- 45:05dealing with very similar injury problems.
- 45:07And that was Tom Brady's final year in the NFL.
- 45:09He took a lot more hits than he than he showed up.
- 45:11And the box has done a nice job rebuilding that offensive line
- 45:14since then. But again, they haven't had that
- 45:16much experience playing without him.
- 45:18I agree with you. I think it's a big thing to
- 45:19watch in the beginning of the season.
- 45:21Have to do more quick concepts in that offense now.
- 45:23And that might be tough with a new coordinator to remember.
- 45:25No Liam Cohen anymore. So they're going to try to
- 45:27adjust now the third coordinator in three years, to a more
- 45:30quicker offense. I disagree.
- 45:32I Charlie in this season, it's only four games and again, Baker
- 45:37Mayfield is a guy that is a mobile.
- 45:40He's not super speed like Lamar Jackson.
- 45:42They have a tremendous amount of offensive talent.
- 45:45They can run the ball. They have two capable running
- 45:47backs. I I know, I know worth is one of
- 45:50the better offensive line tackles in in the league.
- 45:54I do believe that Tampa's very talented offensively and they
- 45:57got guys that can, you know, move into the slot.
- 46:01I, I expect them to use two guys in the slot a lot this year.
- 46:05Short passes, quick passes. I expect that's how they're
- 46:08going to run their offense. I, I, I, it's going to hurt him
- 46:11a little bit, not by much. They're the best team in that
- 46:13division. I don't even think you can argue
- 46:15it so. You know, we talk about the the
- 46:19big fellas that protect everybody and we all are fans of
- 46:24quarterback play when they're doing well.
- 46:26I don't think people realize just how important your
- 46:29teammates are sometimes to make you look good.
- 46:31And I think as a baseball player, I always wonder, you
- 46:34know, with pitchers, how important you feel your catcher
- 46:38is. And I think it's a very similar
- 46:39relationship between quarterback and blind side protector.
- 46:43What what what about you in your career with the catchers?
- 46:45You know, they're like, how many of them you think made you
- 46:47better? And I mean, we know we we
- 46:49talked, you mentioned Javi Lopez last show.
- 46:52I don't think Greg Maddox ever pitched him.
- 46:54I think he pitched to Eddie Perez.
- 46:56It's like it was it was before and then, but Eddie Perez didn't
- 47:00call the game. Greg Maddox called his own game.
- 47:02So the way Greg Maddox caught the ball was the pitch.
- 47:05Eddie Perez didn't call the game.
- 47:07Greg called it the way he caught.
- 47:09So if he wanted to throw a certain pitch, he'd catch it
- 47:11like this, like this closer to his chest or walking back to the
- 47:14mouth. Greg called it from the game.
- 47:16The dude's stupid intelligent, like sure, no, no catcher.
- 47:20So before Eddie Perez now he's obviously the the bullpen coach
- 47:23now, but how he was the personal catcher before?
- 47:26Because that's like he he was like a Jose Molina, like
- 47:31couldn't hit worth a shit, but could receive and catch.
- 47:34And now that's why they're doing all the one legged stuff because
- 47:37now it's not throwing runners out.
- 47:39It's framing and getting pitch calling, which we've seen
- 47:42horrible umpire. But to your question is, is, is
- 47:46we've seen how that's played out in multiple sports.
- 47:48Guys taking your blind side. Why did Tom Brady always pay his
- 47:54guys more to protect his butt? Because he was like, I'm going
- 47:58to play longer be this because I'm paying these guys longer.
- 48:01It was it was always nice. And I had some really, really
- 48:04great defensive catchers. I mean, my first hitter in the
- 48:08big leagues, I shook off Jorge because I didn't want to throw
- 48:11the pitch. He called.
- 48:12I'll never forget it. And I don't ever let him let it
- 48:16down when when I see him. I was like, yeah, I shook you
- 48:18off. And you never have ever caught
- 48:20me before. But I had Russell Martin, Jose
- 48:22Molina, Francisco Cervelli, Chad Moeller, like just really,
- 48:26really great defensive catchers. And it's nice before it was all
- 48:31plug, plug it in pitch com where you knew you were on the same
- 48:36page where it's like, all right, he's going to call fastball in
- 48:40and you knew. And it just I loved working fast
- 48:42anyways. And so that relationship, I
- 48:45think, between the front guys and like catchers is very, very
- 48:49similar, like you said, because once you're on the same page and
- 48:52know you can run a certain play or a certain scheme, or I can
- 48:56pitch this guy a certain way, know that he's going to block it
- 48:58and I can bury some pitches four games or I can kind of escape.
- 49:01What's that? It's four games.
- 49:04I I think I obviously. At least four games.
- 49:06It's knee surgery. They don't.
- 49:07They didn't say what it was. It's a fix a knee surgery.
- 49:09Atlanta What is the Atlanta schedule like?
- 49:11I mean, not Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Tampa.
- 49:13What is Tampa schedule for the? 1st it's but they're fixing a
- 49:16previous surgery. Right, No, this is the his first
- 49:19surgery didn't work, so he needs another one and that you don't
- 49:23know how he's going to recover. It's at least four games
- 49:26minimum, their first. Four games.
- 49:28Their first game is against the Falcons on the road.
- 49:31Second game on the road against the Texans and at home against
- 49:33The Jets. Home against the Eagles.
- 49:35They're going to win. They're going to win two out of
- 49:37those four games, so. But you got to remember once you
- 49:40get in there, you don't know the amount of scar tissue that's
- 49:42that's in there. Once you get in there sometimes
- 49:44like it's, it stinks. Yeah, it's, it's going to be a
- 49:47problem for me. Like as I just know as a left
- 49:50tackle, I played left tackle. It's all about like if there's a
- 49:53guy who's a wide rusher, the quarterback knows how the left
- 49:56tackle likes to play him so he knows how to get out of the
- 49:58pocket. And that's something that you
- 50:00don't really think about too often.
- 50:01Like it's easy, easy to navigate the pocket when you know what
- 50:04your guys in front of you do to different types of techniques
- 50:06you're facing that you can see pre snap.
- 50:09So let's move on to the last one here before we get out.
- 50:12Actually, we go to these quickly.
- 50:15Just quickly. Edge edge rusher Dallas Turner
- 50:17got ripped off for just under $250,000.
- 50:20I got ripped off in almost the exact same way.
- 50:22Errol. When I first started on the
- 50:24show, it was through someone scamming you with like a wire
- 50:27fraud. They was from JP Morgan Chase
- 50:31bank. Same way that happened to me and
- 50:35then I never got my money back. I only lost just under 2000.
- 50:39He lost 250,000 I. Lost 80 KA couple of years ago.
- 50:43I don't want don't don't cry, cry me a river.
- 50:45This guy's got millions and millions of dollars.
- 50:47I'll tell you what. How stupid.
- 50:49Could you is a rookie? How stupid can you be?
- 50:51I, I, you have all these accountants, you have all these
- 50:54people running your money and working your money.
- 50:56How could you do something like, how could you put your money in
- 50:59a situation where you're going to get yourself, you know,
- 51:02bankrupt? I've seen this before.
- 51:04I've seen this happened many many times.
- 51:06Before let me let me read to you how how it went.
- 51:08It said someone on February 19th.
- 51:11According to affidavit, Turner, the the bank said say they claim
- 51:15someone was trying to attempt to impersonate Turner at the bank
- 51:19branch in Arizona presented 2 copies of ID to execute a wire
- 51:24transfer. Then they called Turner and
- 51:27instructed him to transfer money through the from the bank
- 51:32branches to do it. So it it was like this huge
- 51:35scam. He was a victim of a fraud scam.
- 51:38There's so much of that out there.
- 51:41You've got to be. I mean, I don't even answer text
- 51:44messages that have anything. They're using AI to use your
- 51:48voice to. They're doing so many things
- 51:50now. There's so many ways that you
- 51:52can fraudulently hurt or take, take money from somebody, fight
- 51:57with AI. It is very scary.
- 51:58So you can't trust anybody on the phone with you or reaching
- 52:01out to. You keep it in the mattresses,
- 52:03boys. Back to the mattresses.
- 52:04I guess. I guess.
- 52:06Last one, Eli Manning turned down a stake in Giants ownership
- 52:12due to the price. He also had some interesting
- 52:15comments about it. He said that he didn't really
- 52:17want to be an owner because he does a lot of television and
- 52:20broadcasting and he wouldn't be able to get to go inside the
- 52:25other locker rooms and learn from the guys very similar to
- 52:30Tom Brady who can't do those things.
- 52:33I think it was one of many shots that Eli likes to take well at
- 52:37Tom. I will say this, I'm sorry to
- 52:39cut you off, but the whole Tom Brady story, Tom Brady didn't
- 52:44have to throw too much money to get 10% of of the Raiders
- 52:48because Davis is desperate. He was desperate for money.
- 52:52Now, I don't know about Marrotish.
- 52:55I don't know if they're desperate, but I can tell you
- 52:57right now they're overcharging the Giants as an organization
- 53:01because the Giants organization being that they're in New York
- 53:04and they've won four Super Bowls in in about 40 years, they're
- 53:09saying, hey, you know what? We've won championships.
- 53:12We're the ones that knocked off the Patriots on that undefeated
- 53:14season. And oh, by the way, you were the
- 53:16quarterback when you did those when you had those runs.
- 53:19So I I think honestly, Eli Manning, he didn't want to put
- 53:24the money. He didn't want to throw all that
- 53:25money. I don't know how much it was,
- 53:27but I'm sure it was worth probably five, $600 million.
- 53:31I don't think he wants to throw all his shekels for, you know,
- 53:34in the money for the Giants, especially the organization run
- 53:36by Joe Shane and how bad the organization has been since he
- 53:40slept. And by the way, let me ask the
- 53:42organization when the organization allowed, yes Ben
- 53:47McAdoo do to let to let Geno Smith play in front of him and
- 53:52ruin his stream as as far as his streak for games.
- 53:56So if I was Eli Manning, I would be pissed off at the
- 53:59organization and tell the organization to kiss my rear end
- 54:02after what the the organization did, taking Tom Coughlin away
- 54:05from the organization when all they had to do was add defensive
- 54:08players when they brought Ben McAdoo in and help them maybe
- 54:12win a third Super Bowl in a significant amount of time.
- 54:14I think the if I was, I would be if I was Eli Manning, I would be
- 54:18butthurt for all the things the organization has done to him
- 54:21after the fact. He was the Super Bowl world
- 54:23champion. It's it's hard to argue with
- 54:25that. Just one last thing before we
- 54:27get out of this guys. We said it on the last show.
- 54:31Apparently Najee Harris didn't listen and in on July 4th had a
- 54:36fireworks accident hurt his eye. They say they're superficial and
- 54:41injuries and he'll be ready for camp and that has been your whip
- 54:47around. I'm not surprised and you're
- 54:50you're not going to hear this last or the craziest stories
- 54:54with people playing with fireworks, especially multi
- 54:56millionaires that should stay the hell away from these.
- 54:59By the way, I was at I was at a party I was DJ ING at and I was
- 55:04walking into the backyard getting ready to DJ and this guy
- 55:08like put like tie 2 blockbusters together and lit him on fire in
- 55:13a bottle. And dude, the bottle, half the
- 55:17bottle was like literally like 3 inches away from hitting my
- 55:20head. OK.
- 55:22And I was walking in the backyard.
- 55:23I was furiated before the party even started.
- 55:26So it's dangerous. You're playing away, you're
- 55:30playing around with TNT and anything could happen.
- 55:34You don't know how. How long the, what do they call
- 55:37those Wicks? The Wicks, You don't know how
- 55:41long the Wicks are before they're going to explode, how
- 55:44quick they're going to light up. So it's dangerous.
- 55:46You don't play around with, especially when you're making
- 55:49millions and millions of dollars and you have your family's
- 55:52hands, your family's lives in your hands.
- 55:55It's literally your, your family's life in your hand.
- 55:58So I just think it's, it's ridiculously crazy.
- 56:01That's just my opinion. Hey, Errol.
- 56:03So we got, we got our buddy Nick goodies in.
- 56:06We're going to bring Nick in a second and we're going to put
- 56:09Tic Tac no after our guest and we're going to get into since
- 56:12our relievers are both here, we're going to make, I believe a
- 56:16call to the pen. It's done.
- 56:20You can throw a strike on this pitch.
- 56:22It's not going to be my John. It feels like jello right now.
- 56:24Just get it over the plate. I want him to swing.
- 56:26Last time I did that the guy hit one that hasn't landed yet.
- 56:29For a call to the pen. This makes my pecker.
- 56:33All right. You've gotten really good with
- 56:37those, like adding them on to the end of the drops?
- 56:39I had to take a shit. Boys, we are making a call to
- 56:47the end to talk about All Star Games as we know we're coming up
- 56:51on Tuesday. Wanna hear your guys experience
- 56:55over the years at the different levels you've played that with
- 56:58All Star Games and some stories if you have you know from All
- 57:00Star weekend if he attended. This is not a panty dropper.
- 57:03Participate in the majors. Jabba, you said you were in the
- 57:06Futures Game. Nick, I didn't get to talk to
- 57:07you pre show but like to hear what you guys have to say.
- 57:11We get some music on. At least start.
- 57:13Off with Mr. Chamberlain. Oh yeah, no, it's, I mean, we
- 57:17played in plenty of All Star games as as we grew up.
- 57:20But yeah, it was, it was weird. I got, I got the call to the
- 57:23Futures Game and I was in Akron, OH.
- 57:28And they're like, hey. And I obviously didn't pay
- 57:32attention to it because I didn't really know much about it.
- 57:34And they're like, hey, yeah, you and Tony Franklin, who was my
- 57:38manager at the time, They're like, yeah, you're going to
- 57:41Philadelphia. And I was like for what?
- 57:44Like, Oh, you're taking a flight to San Francisco, and I'm like,
- 57:48what? Like, yeah, you just made this
- 57:50team. And I was like, whoa, this is
- 57:52cool. Like, sweet.
- 57:54I had no idea. I was like, I don't know what's
- 57:56going on. So we take a red eye and they're
- 58:00like, all right, you're going to do this.
- 58:03We check in, you get this packet, you go to your room.
- 58:06I've been to the the College World Series.
- 58:10Sorry, Goody. You didn't make that 1:00.
- 58:11You got upset by Stony Brook. I apologize for that.
- 58:14Goba is not an athlete. But you, you definitely have
- 58:17more championships than us. So I am very envious of you on
- 58:20that. But so I was like when we got to
- 58:24the World Series, I was like, we got to our room when we had like
- 58:27our swag and stuff this. And then when we got there, I
- 58:30was like, we got to our room and it was, it was crazy.
- 58:34And then we got like putters, we got all kinds of stuff.
- 58:37But people don't realize the All Star game is a lot like, no
- 58:40matter if it's like Home Run Derby, Celebrity game, Futures
- 58:44Game, All Star game, because you want to sign everything for
- 58:46everybody. So you literally like sign for
- 58:49everything. You got meetings at like 7:00.
- 58:51You got to do all these things. And then it's like, well, I want
- 58:54to see like Home Run Derby. I want to see like, you know,
- 58:57it's you just never know. And, you know, then you get all
- 59:01the parties and all the other stuff and you're like, you know,
- 59:05I want to experience because you never know if you're ever going
- 59:07to get this chance again. And I actually that would that
- 59:11that game, I, there was a bird on the field.
- 59:16I got it. I got it off the field.
- 59:18And I actually got voted best fastball of of that Futures
- 59:23Game. And then I was in the big three
- 59:25months later. So yeah, you know, you got to
- 59:29taste yourself every once in a while.
- 59:30Now I'm just old and crusty. Some Gray hair dog.
- 59:36You got to do it. You got to do it.
- 59:39I wasn't quick enough with the screenshot on that one.
- 59:43Goody, how about you give us some of yours on this one?
- 59:46Bro I was home for every All Star hit.
- 59:49Well, when you were younger and I'm saying like at different
- 59:51levels. I made the double AI, made the
- 59:54AA All Stars and didn't get, I didn't get to go to it because I
- 59:57got called up to AAA. So.
- 1:00:00It was in Portland. I was with Trenton.
- 1:00:03I had the All Star team. I had a stellar like first half
- 1:00:06told me I was an All Star. I was like, all right, sick.
- 1:00:09And then like a week before the All Star game, I got called up
- 1:00:13to Scranton AAA for New York and then everybody that went to the
- 1:00:17All Star game apparently got food poisoning.
- 1:00:19So I've dodged a bullet there. This was tight.
- 1:00:22And then two nights ago we've had our Florida collegiate
- 1:00:26summer league All Star game. I got the coach in that ended in
- 1:00:29a tie. But but most All Star breaks, I
- 1:00:31was sitting at the beach and, you know, having a few brews and
- 1:00:35I remember 1 All Star game, Brad Hamm was there.
- 1:00:37I Facetimed him while he was there at the Home Run Derby.
- 1:00:39So that was kind of dope. Got the got to like, live
- 1:00:42vicariously through him for, I don't know, 20 minutes.
- 1:00:45God he was. He was nasty for a couple years
- 1:00:48man Wow. Yeah, he's, yeah, he's, he's one
- 1:00:52of my good friends. I mean, he's freaking.
- 1:00:54Yeah, he was. He was fun.
- 1:00:56He was fun, Woody. Yeah.
- 1:00:58Hey, that that year, that year, Fish.
- 1:01:02So I had just had Carter right and I wanted to come home.
- 1:01:06So I left. I left a day early.
- 1:01:08I didn't stay for the All Star game.
- 1:01:09I came home and my agent called me and I'm in.
- 1:01:13I'm in AA at the time and I signed the highest at the time
- 1:01:18minor league endorsement deal at $100,000 at an Applebee's.
- 1:01:23Applebee's Were you eating good in the neighborhood then?
- 1:01:26Oh hey, no, I was still trying to get the appetizer menu son.
- 1:01:30I was only making, you know, 400 bucks a month, so.
- 1:01:34They had those riblets back in those hundred.
- 1:01:36Percent. Funny story, I got called up to
- 1:01:38AA and I was getting paid first year salary and it didn't change
- 1:01:44for a while and goody knows this as well.
- 1:01:46You get paid as you go up but in your first year you make the
- 1:01:50same amount. So I get called up to AA and I
- 1:01:54get my first paycheck. Well I get a call and they're
- 1:01:58like hey we overpaid you. So I actually had to pay in on
- 1:02:01my first paycheck to AA because they overpaid me.
- 1:02:05That's. Quite a joke, yeah?
- 1:02:08That's that's frustrating. I've I've had that happen on a
- 1:02:11much smaller scale and it's been frustrating to.
- 1:02:14Me, I was like, I didn't like you guys are the one that paid
- 1:02:16me. I was like lucky I I got drafted
- 1:02:18in the first round. I was like, why do I have to pay
- 1:02:21you? Like this is stupid.
- 1:02:23Did you tell them there's this? You ever hear of Finders
- 1:02:25Keepers? Ass Liquer.
- 1:02:26Yeah, well, I just, there was a chick that thought she got a
- 1:02:29$400,000 bonus and spent it on. She's in prison now.
- 1:02:32I like anal. Yes.
- 1:02:36Well, let's finish this up with favorite.
- 1:02:40If you got anybody favorite All Star memories watching as a kid,
- 1:02:44any type of you know, the things that jump out.
- 1:02:46I know for me, I remember watching Cal Ripken, you know,
- 1:02:50being being taken out, being moved back over the shortstop by
- 1:02:54I believe it was Jeter and a rod.
- 1:02:56That's like one of those really special moments.
- 1:02:58I. No, it was a rod with the
- 1:03:00Rangers and Tori was the manager.
- 1:03:02It was a all right. I just remember it was something
- 1:03:05with the Yankees involved with that I.
- 1:03:06Remember Ripken memorable All Star game I I think it was Tori
- 1:03:10Hunter's catch in the outfield and the game ending in a tie.
- 1:03:15I remember that remember that. I think it was in the 90s.
- 1:03:19I remember that game that popped out pops out of all the.
- 1:03:23Games. Mine would.
- 1:03:25Mine would be the when, yeah, when he robbed the Homer,
- 1:03:30because it was it didn't end the game as Barry Bonds and Barry
- 1:03:33Bonds picked him up as he was running back in the.
- 1:03:35Field. 2002, 2002 was the 77 tie.
- 1:03:41That was the game that stuck out to me more than anything.
- 1:03:44And Tori Hunter's unbelievable grab.
- 1:03:47There was AI remember the game, and he makes this unbelievable
- 1:03:51catch. How special was that guy?
- 1:03:53Mine was 2. Mine was 2008.
- 1:03:55Goody, you can go after me. Mine was 2008 because I was
- 1:03:58hosting All Star weekend that year.
- 1:04:01I hosted the MLB party and then I hosted another party with
- 1:04:05Alyssa Milano and then I was at Webster Hall at 11th and 3rd
- 1:04:10that. Was your favorite movie The
- 1:04:11whole All Star game by the way? Melissa Milano.
- 1:04:14No, it wasn't. No, it, it actually wasn't
- 1:04:16because that's the year it went into extra and didn't even have
- 1:04:19a party. And so, yeah, so we we had it at
- 1:04:24Tao. We had a bunch and I was hosting
- 1:04:26and it was, it was awesome. It was fun.
- 1:04:28I DJ. Ed at Tao it was fun time.
- 1:04:31And so that for me was like, I mean, obviously the one that
- 1:04:35you're in, you get AC and B on the field and do all that.
- 1:04:37That was fun. But hosting and doing all that,
- 1:04:40I did like the whole weekend with everything.
- 1:04:42And I was like, I'm a year and a half in the big leagues and I'm
- 1:04:46hosting all this and I'm just a fat kid from Lincoln, NE.
- 1:04:49I was like this is all. Right, Goody finishes up.
- 1:04:54He tastes his favorite. My favorite All Star thing was
- 1:04:58Josh Hamilton's Home Run Derby, but he hit, what, 26 or 27
- 1:05:03homers? Get it?
- 1:05:06Yeah. And then and then Errol tried to
- 1:05:07say he won, but he didn't win. The rah rah, I mean, he put on
- 1:05:13an absolute show and I just remember pulled it in with my
- 1:05:17grandpa watching, watching the watching the spectacular
- 1:05:21performance he put on. And so that that to me was the
- 1:05:26dopest Home Run Derby, All Star game because I didn't know
- 1:05:31really who Josh Hamilton was prior to that, you know, but he
- 1:05:35became one of my favorite players after that.
- 1:05:37How about? Goody.
- 1:05:39You know who won that year? Who?
- 1:05:40Was it? Nobody knows.
- 1:05:42Justin. Morgan, Canadian.
- 1:05:44Yeah, like, yeah, nobody. It's he won.
- 1:05:48He won. Because.
- 1:05:48That's why people talk about who, actually.
- 1:05:50Won. They'll remember Josh.
- 1:05:52I will say this, do you remember Aaron Judge's Home Run Derby
- 1:05:55when he hit the top of Like it was in Tampa?
- 1:05:58I think it was in Tampa if I'm not.
- 1:05:59Mistaken. Oh, he hit the ceiling and.
- 1:06:00Hit the ceiling. Yeah, it was unbelievable. 1017.
- 1:06:04Yeah, he hit it like 3 times. You know, it's, it was
- 1:06:09ridiculous. So, and John Carlos Stanton, I I
- 1:06:12mean the bombs that he had at the Home Run Derby, I mean, one
- 1:06:15of them was like 500 feet or something, 550 feet, some
- 1:06:19ridiculous numbers. So I mean that guy, when he gets
- 1:06:21a hold of them, it's. Scary, scary.
- 1:06:24I still remember as a kid that Ken Griffey Junior one where he
- 1:06:26had the hat backwards the whole time and he was just launching
- 1:06:29him with that beautiful swing. But guys, we get to watch those
- 1:06:33next week. Thanks for giving us some
