- 2:24Game seven of the ALCS between the Mariners and the Blue Jays
- 2:28is kicking off at the Rogers Center in Toronto as we speak
- 2:33after the Mariners and the Blue Jays split games five and six,
- 2:37the Mariners won game five at home and the Blue Jays won Game
- 2:406 back in Toronto. In their game five win, the
- 2:44Mariners scored five runs in the eighth inning with Cal Rally
- 2:49hitting a solo home run to tie the game and Suarez hitting a
- 2:54Grand Slam to give them the lead for good.
- 2:57In Game 6 back in Toronto, the Blue Jays scored five runs off
- 3:02All Star pitcher Logan Gilbert, including home runs from Addison
- 3:07Barcher and Vladimir Guerrero Junior, who has 6 this post
- 3:12season in just 10 games, becoming the 14th player in MLB
- 3:16history to do so. George Kirby goes for the
- 3:20Mariners with the Blue Jays sending veteran Shane Bieber to
- 3:24the mound in Game 7 tonight with a trip to the World Series on
- 3:29the line. The Dodgers swept the Brewers in
- 3:31the NLCS to advance to their second straight World Series and
- 3:37their fifth in the last nine years.
- 3:40The NLCS and VP Shay Ohtani had a historic performance with
- 3:45three home runs and six scoreless pitching innings and
- 3:4810 strikeouts. Dodgers pitching held the
- 3:52Brewers to only 14 hits in the entire series.
- 3:56With a team batting average of only .118, the lowest batting
- 4:03average in MLB history for any series lasting longer than three
- 4:07games, this is the first time a team that had the best record in
- 4:13baseball has been swept in seven game in A7 game series since
- 4:182004. And the Cardinals, who were
- 4:21swept by the Red Sox in the World Series that broke the
- 4:26Curse of the Bambino for 21 years ago.
- 4:32Well, I, I, I'll get it to the Dodgers in Shay Otani because I
- 4:35know Jabba has like a smirk on his face.
- 4:37That doesn't mean anything to me, but I I do want to get into
- 4:42the this series, which I did not think was going to go 7.
- 4:47I did not. The Mariners going up to
- 4:49nothing. I thought the series was over.
- 4:52I did not think the Blue Jays had enough inside them as far as
- 4:57personality wise. I know Vladimir Guerrero came
- 5:00out after game number 2 after he spoke to the media and he said,
- 5:03listen, we're not done. We're going to go out there and
- 5:06play every inning, every pitch, every every game like it's our
- 5:11last. And boy, oh boy, did the Blue
- 5:15Jays do that. And the Blue Jays have shown why
- 5:19they are in the ALCS. They're showing you why they won
- 5:23the American League East. They're showing you why that
- 5:27this team even without Bichette can hit and not only hit
- 5:34dominate in the middle of that line up.
- 5:37It it's it's incredible what Vladimir Guerrero junior is
- 5:40doing now when we look at this contract that he got in the
- 5:44during the season at the beginning of the season and was
- 5:48guaranteed 325 million, which is the most guaranteed money any
- 5:52players ever gotten in baseball history.
- 5:55And I sat there and I said, what is, what are the Blue Jays nuts?
- 5:58I, I mean, that's just as bad as the deferred money the Dodgers
- 6:01were giving everybody. I I mean honestly, 300.
- 6:06Errol, let me ask you a question.
- 6:07Would you rather, would you OK, so say you're in this situation,
- 6:11would you rather take the the 325 upfront or the deferred on
- 6:15the back end? 325 upfront, absolutely.
- 6:19What I don't I don't disagree with.
- 6:21You, I mean, I mean, first of all, they're in Canada.
- 6:24The taxes are completely different than they are here.
- 6:27And what is what is he losing there?
- 6:30Probably 100 million. So he's getting maybe a little
- 6:33bit less than that, let's say 80 million.
- 6:35Well, let's just say that I'm just I'm shooting and maybe
- 6:39we'll, we'll have fish do the, the economic, you know, you
- 6:42know, mathematically equation. How about we'll have Jared,
- 6:45Jared do that. I would love to know how much
- 6:49he's given up on that, you know that guaranteed money upfront,
- 6:52but. It's it's weird how they do the
- 6:54taxes too because it works out because technically their
- 6:59offices are in Dunedin. So it's Florida.
- 7:01Oh. Really.
- 7:03So, yeah, interesting. So that's, so that's sometimes
- 7:06how it gets tricky like but you get paid in Canada.
- 7:10But since that big upfront, from what I've understood from guys
- 7:15that I've played with before, it's technically that where
- 7:18their facility is. So it would technically be
- 7:21Florida where there's no state tax.
- 7:23So that would be I would have to, I would have to look at, but
- 7:25I remember that because when I was hurt, I was getting paid
- 7:30like I was in Tampa. So my checks were bigger because
- 7:34it wasn't like you were getting paid where you were playing at.
- 7:36So, but I was always like under the impression in two and I
- 7:40heard it from a lot of guys, the faster you get it, the faster
- 7:42you can invest it. I get some deferred money on the
- 7:45back end. Maybe not, not 600 million, but
- 7:48like now you have that money up front, you can invest it and do
- 7:51a lot of other things. Where would I take some
- 7:54deferred? Yeah, but I don't, I don't know
- 7:57if I'd take 600 million deferred.
- 7:59I'd rather take the 325 upfront. I would definitely take the 325
- 8:03upfront even if I lost $100 million, I'm $225 million
- 8:08richer. So what am I complaining about?
- 8:10And I'm still getting more money on the back end of it.
- 8:12So I'm not complaining at all. And and Vladimir Guerrero looks
- 8:16like he's worth every single penny that he is getting from
- 8:21the Blue Jays because he's he's been remarkable in this series.
- 8:25He was great in the Yankees series.
- 8:27He he when he needed a home run or they needed a big hit, the
- 8:30Yankees had a pitch around him. And that's what you want your
- 8:32best player to do. We know what his father was.
- 8:35His father was so special and, and you know that Jabba, you
- 8:39played against him, you pitched against him.
- 8:41He hit a home run off. Me on a ball that hit the ground
- 8:45when he was in Baltimore, so towards the end of his career,
- 8:48So, you know, literally I threw a curveball that bounced and he
- 8:50hit a Homer to left. The best pitch, honestly, they
- 8:56told me when I first came up because I was a big fan of
- 8:58outfielders that could throw. So Vlad was obviously a guy
- 9:00played right field that could throw when he was with the
- 9:03Angels. And I was like, you know what
- 9:05I'd like this is a dude like I watched growing up.
- 9:08I want to throw fast when he said literally before, if you
- 9:11face Vladdy, the best pitch is a fastball down the middle.
- 9:14And I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 9:15They're like, he's one of the greatest bad ball hitters.
- 9:17And at that point you're naive by because you don't really
- 9:21understand it. You're just a fan of watching
- 9:22the game, right? Well, I was like, I'm going to
- 9:25let one eat. And I threw a fastball at 101
- 9:29and he fouled it straight back and I thought it was the coolest
- 9:31thing ever. Then I threw 2 sliders that
- 9:33weren't even near the zone and he missed them by 15 feet.
- 9:36So then it started to click. So I was like, boom, I'm going
- 9:38to just, you know, I'm going to bounce a curveball next time I
- 9:40face him. Boom bounced A curveball.
- 9:42He golfed it out to left. And I'm like, all right, this
- 9:46dude is I'm, I'm and it is a true story.
- 9:49Vlady Junior said it too. His, his grandma, Vlady's mom,
- 9:54and she would literally like when we'd play whatever team
- 9:58Vladdy was on, he would make food not only for Vladdy and his
- 10:02teammates, she would make them for the visiting clubhouse too.
- 10:05And that was like the first time I got real, like real, real
- 10:08Dominican food. Holy cow.
- 10:10It's a game changer. She was like, he was so nice and
- 10:14she would literally would bring it over every time, every day.
- 10:17It was awesome. And that's that's what's
- 10:19incredible about the father and son.
- 10:21Usually when your son is being compared to the father, they're
- 10:26they never amount to anything that that's just the fact you
- 10:29look at all the sports. Brownie James, we go back to
- 10:31Jordan brother, the the Jordan sons.
- 10:33Any one of these guys, Dwyane Wade, son, Scottie Pippen's son.
- 10:37I, I mean, I, I'm just, you know, off the head guys that I'm
- 10:40trying to bring up Gordie Howes, kids that play with their
- 10:43father, all these ex players, great superstar players, their
- 10:47sons come into the league and they try to compete or they have
- 10:50the same name as their father. Saquon Junior might play in the
- 10:53NFL. He already said that he doesn't
- 10:54want his son running, being a running back.
- 10:56Watch the documentary. It's pretty cool what he said.
- 10:58I don't want my son being a running back.
- 11:00But nevertheless, what I'm trying to say is you always look
- 11:03at these guys and you're trying to compare him with father and
- 11:05son. And usually, besides Ken Griffey
- 11:08junior, by the way, Ken Griffey junior was better than Ken
- 11:10Griffey senior, but Ken Griffey senior was pretty good.
- 11:14Barry and Bobby Bonds. Barry and Bob.
- 11:17Barry, yes. Barry and Bobby Bonds, yes.
- 11:19I, I'm, I'm trying to, I'm trying to think of father and
- 11:22sons that actually worked. This could go down as the
- 11:27greatest, you know, father and son combination we've ever seen
- 11:32because Vladimir Guerrero senior is a special player, one of the
- 11:37best, greatest arms we've ever seen and one of the greatest
- 11:39power hitters we've ever seen. Like you said, job.
- 11:42He hit the ball no matter where you were throwing the ball.
- 11:44And now you're watching Vladimir Guerrero junior.
- 11:47If he could somehow get his team in the World Series and beat the
- 11:51bad boy Dodgers. I mean, this could be one of the
- 11:54greatest comebacks, one of the greatest stories in baseball in
- 11:59the last 20 years. It's incredible what the Blue
- 12:03Jays are doing. If they somehow pull off this
- 12:05win against Seattle and then they go in and they they
- 12:07challenge the Dodgers and give the Dodgers all they can eat.
- 12:10Maybe we see Bob Bechette in that series.
- 12:13We, we might see that and that might change everything in that
- 12:16lineup, add a little bit more depth in that lineup And
- 12:18defensively, because Bechette is a, he's a really good defensive
- 12:21player. Maybe this, maybe that's a
- 12:23different series against the Dodgers.
- 12:26As far as the Dodgers are concerned.
- 12:30Sherry Ohtani had a great series.
- 12:34He had a great series. And that last game, hitting
- 12:37three home runs, 10 strikeouts, 6 scoreless innings, and he
- 12:40threw the ball one of his pitches, hit over 100.
- 12:44It's incredible. It is incredible.
- 12:47He is now what people are putting and saying he's the
- 12:50greatest baseball player of all time.
- 12:51That's ridiculous. That's ridiculous.
- 12:55It's too early, It's too early. It's it's ridiculous.
- 12:58It's absolutely ridiculous to even say that.
- 13:01And if you look at Cherotani's numbers right now in the
- 13:05playoffs, he's batting 220, OK, He's not hitting.
- 13:09And I, I, I, I know everybody wants to give him all the the
- 13:12praise. You want to give him the NLC,
- 13:14the NLCS MVP, that's fine. He looked great in his final
- 13:17game. He pitched well.
- 13:18He hit the ball. He hit three home runs.
- 13:20Great, because congratulations, sensational.
- 13:25My my opinion here is, and I'm not trying to compare him and
- 13:28Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge hit 500 all the way
- 13:34through the playoffs before the Yankees got eliminated, he was
- 13:38hitting 505 hundred. OK, this guy is batting 220.
- 13:45All right, yes, he's a pitcher. I understand that.
- 13:48I understand that you want to put that in and obviously Jabba
- 13:51is a pitcher and, and Jabba is going to tell you, you don't
- 13:53understand how much pressure you have and this and this and that
- 13:55and it's fine. I'm not taking that away from
- 13:57you. He's a great pitcher.
- 13:58Good for him. But to come out there and, and
- 14:01people on social media after this wonderful performance and
- 14:05giving him the NLCSMVP to say that he is the greatest baseball
- 14:11player of all time. Guys, he's not better than Babe
- 14:15Ruth. He's not better than Mickey
- 14:17Mantle, He's not better than Ted Williams, He's not better than
- 14:21Joe DiMaggio. He's not better than these
- 14:24greats that we have. That's just some of them.
- 14:26That's just some of them. That's not all of them, That's
- 14:29some of them. He is in moving towards that
- 14:32trajectory where you can compare him to those guys, but to say
- 14:37that he's the greatest baseball player of all time, it's
- 14:42ridiculous. Let me ask you guys a question.
- 14:46Shayo Ohtani, What was he batting in the World Series last
- 14:49year? Like 100.
- 14:53OK, when before this series, what was Shayo Ohtani batting
- 14:58going into this series? In the hundreds?
- 15:02He was batting one 88189. He's batting at the end of this
- 15:07series, he was batting a little bit over 2 hundreds and you're
- 15:10going to go out there and say he's the greatest baseball
- 15:14player of all time because it was one of the greatest
- 15:17performances we've seen in a playoff game.
- 15:20Come on, guys, this is the young Brewers.
- 15:23This isn't the Yankees. This isn't that.
- 15:26I mean, come on, guys, we're going to sit here and we're
- 15:29going to, we're going to just praise Shayo Dunn.
- 15:32He's sensational. He's a great player.
- 15:34I'm not going to take it away from him.
- 15:36He's special. He really is.
- 15:38He's a special player. I'm just tired of hearing he's
- 15:41the greatest baseball player of all time.
- 15:43It's not even close. I, I, you could put him with all
- 15:46the greats. No, you cannot.
- 15:48Go look at Babe Ruth, what he was hitting in the playoffs in
- 15:51his career, Mickey Mantle. Go look at Yogi Berra, Jody, go
- 15:56look at their batting averages in the playoffs and everybody's
- 15:59going to say, well, they don't throw 100.
- 16:01It's a different game. Baseball was different.
- 16:04Pitchers played nine innings. They don't get out in 5-6
- 16:08innings like Shay Otani pitched. These guys pitched I there were
- 16:12starting pitchers that were going 10 or 11 innings, 342 in
- 16:19the playoffs, 15 home runs and 972 career postseason OPS.
- 16:24It it's ridiculous and you're going to put Shay Otani there.
- 16:29Let's go look at Mickey Mantle's playoff record.
- 16:32You know, put playoff numbers in his career.
- 16:34Here it is 257 average, eighteen home runs, 40 RB is and 65
- 16:41played games exclusively in the World Series.
- 16:45So that's his World Series of post season record.
- 16:48On numbers, it doesn't matter. But what I'm trying to say is
- 16:52these guys are some of the greatest baseball players of all
- 16:56time, and we're already comparing Cheryl Otani, who's
- 17:00batting 220 right now in the playoffs.
- 17:03Come on, guys, stop. It's ridiculous.
- 17:06And you want to say I'm a hater? You want to go attack me on this
- 17:09take on social media? Kiss my rear end?
- 17:13You want to look at analytics? Analytics would tell you you're
- 17:16on frigging drugs. And yes, Jeff, if you listen to
- 17:21the show, you're on freaking drugs too, because Jeff sent me
- 17:25a nice little picture of Shay Ohtani saying, hey, Earl, check
- 17:28me out now. And I, I and I told Jeff, I
- 17:31said, let let me ask you a question.
- 17:33Would you, would you bet rather bat 2:20 throughout the playoffs
- 17:37or 500? Let me ask you that question.
- 17:40He says 500. Well, Aaron Judge was hitting
- 17:42500. He says no, he wasn't.
- 17:43I say yes, he was. He hit 500 throughout the
- 17:46playoffs in two series he did. So what are you going to say
- 17:50about that? You're going to you're going to
- 17:52still say Shay Otani is better than Aaron Judge?
- 17:54Oh, absolutely. Aaron Judge don't pitch.
- 17:57What is that? He's A5 tool player.
- 17:59He plays in the outfield. Come on, guys.
- 18:02This guy has all the pressure on him on the Yankees.
- 18:05Look what? Look what?
- 18:06Shay Otani has protected him. Mookie Betts and VP, Freeman and
- 18:12VP. Do we want to name more?
- 18:15These guys are there's only one guy that they actually drafted
- 18:20in their starting lineup, the Dodgers.
- 18:24One guy that was their catcher could come on, guys you're going
- 18:30to try to sell me. Yeah, it is pretty good.
- 18:32No question that he has Will Smith.
- 18:36But isn't isn't that kind of saying the same thing, though,
- 18:38Errol, that they've owed that they said back in the day of the
- 18:41Yankees that they bought all of their No, no, I'm.
- 18:44Going to help you here. I'm going to help you here.
- 18:45Jabba in the 90s, in the 90s, we're going to go back.
- 18:49Oh, I know where you're going with this.
- 18:51We're. Going to go back.
- 18:52We're going to go back in time because I love, I love Yankee
- 18:55haters out there that can't stand the New York Yankees and
- 18:58say that the Yankees bought all their championships.
- 19:02OK, let's go from the 90s, early 90s.
- 19:05Don Mattingly never won 959495. Derek Jeter was called up.
- 19:11He played how many games? I think it was like 20 something
- 19:13games, 30 something games. His rookie full rookie season
- 19:16was 95. They made the playoffs.
- 19:20Don Mattingly. They lost against Seattle.
- 19:22I remember that. They lost Jimmy Lawrence.
- 19:24Remember it 96 They had Bernie Williams.
- 19:30They had Derek Jeter, a young Mariano Rivera, a young Andy
- 19:35Pettitte. Remember that in a young.
- 19:38I think MO MO even started a couple games that year I
- 19:41believe. Whitman.
- 19:42Whitman was the closer. MO was the 8th inning guy.
- 19:45I remember it. And I also remember a young
- 19:50Jorge Posada. You had five core players, by
- 19:53the way, Bernie Williams, who should be in the Hall of Fame,
- 19:55one of the greatest playoff players of all time, Derek
- 19:57Jeter, Hall of Famer, Mariano, Hall of Famer, Andy Pettit,
- 20:00borderline Hall of Famer. These these guys were developed
- 20:04by the Yankees organization of the core of players.
- 20:07And then they brought in Scott Brosius, Paul O'Neill, who they
- 20:12traded, Roberto Kelly. It was a top prospect with the
- 20:14Yankees. I do You want me to go on Tino
- 20:17Martinez that they traded for from Seattle?
- 20:20They traded a bunch of good young pieces to Seattle to bring
- 20:24in Tino Martinez. They made moves.
- 20:26They didn't buy players. They traded.
- 20:29They traded to bring in players. Yeah, they brought in weight
- 20:32box. An old weight box.
- 20:34Charlie Hayes. Come on, guys.
- 20:37Who made the last grab in 96 to win the World Series?
- 20:40Charlie Hayes. Does anybody remember Charlie
- 20:42Hayes? Don't even get me started with
- 20:44the New York Yankees, because I know the New York Yankees, OK?
- 20:47I remember those Yankee teams. They did not buy their
- 20:50championships. They built around a core of
- 20:54players. The only championship that I
- 20:56could consider that they bought into was 2009.
- 21:01They brought in CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and Mark Teixeira, and
- 21:08Yep, Jabba was a part of that team as well, but he was also
- 21:12drafted by the New York Yankees. So was Phil Hughes, and so was
- 21:16some of the youngsters that they had on their roster.
- 21:18The fact here is guys, the Yankees did not buy their
- 21:21championships in the 90s. They didn't.
- 21:24They built around a core. This Dodger team.
- 21:27I call this the deferred LA Dodgers.
- 21:32And until proven otherwise, they bought and if they win this
- 21:36championship, they bought these two championships and they're
- 21:39probably going to win another one next year and probably
- 21:41another one the year after. Because with this roster and the
- 21:46way this is put together, they're never going to lose
- 21:50ever. And I just think it's that this
- 21:54is the way baseball wants to play it.
- 21:56And baseball doesn't want to do anything about it.
- 21:57And Rob Manfred or Manfred wants to play with his dinghy and make
- 22:02excuses and try to change the game.
- 22:05Well, sell this big one, this team of the Dodgers, it doesn't
- 22:11matter if it's Shayo, Tani Yamamoto, a Sasaki.
- 22:17This is a board championship and as far as I'm concerned, to even
- 22:21put Shayo Otani in the same conversations of those greats is
- 22:26ridiculous. Sell that.
- 22:27You can pile it up and shove it up your ass and cook it whenever
- 22:31you want. I just had some pizzas and some
- 22:32Ileo's pizzas. I ate them.
- 22:34I'm going to enjoy them and you can kiss my ass because he's not
- 22:37anywhere close to any of those guys.
- 22:39Quickly before you fire back with Otani stuffed Jabba, I just
- 22:42want to just recap both of the series so far.
- 22:44The Brewers offense, you, you kind of could tell that if
- 22:46you're not going to be able to get to the Dodgers bullpen, you
- 22:48have no shot in this series. And the Brewers offensive depth
- 22:51that I was concerned about finally showed itself in that
- 22:53series. As far as the Blue Jays and the
- 22:54Mariners, another fun series like Java.
- 22:55We talked about a few weeks ago with the Mariners and the
- 22:58Tigers. And it seems like one of those
- 22:59series where like the best pitchers are getting beat and
- 23:02it's those newer guys, those random guys that are stepping up
- 23:04for them. I questioned them.
- 23:06Blue Jays using Jeff Hoffman for two innings yesterday.
- 23:08We'll see if that comes back to haunt them.
- 23:09But should be a very interesting series and two very creative
- 23:13managers we've seen so far. Yeah, I mean the series you that
- 23:17the Brewers was kind of just exactly what you said, speedy.
- 23:20If you can't get to the bullpen, then it was just it there was no
- 23:23chance. And then obviously having Sasaki
- 23:25at the back end of their bullpen and you're just like, all right,
- 23:29here we go. But no, I you know what, I will
- 23:32agree with you on this for one reason Errol is you can't do
- 23:36like when they're talking about the post.
- 23:38He's played like parts of two post season, like it's a post
- 23:42season and 1/2 right. So you really can't say much.
- 23:45I mean it really wasn't I, I preface something on Twitter and
- 23:50I was just like, why? You know, he he ends up winning,
- 23:52obviously, you know, the MVP, But before that it was, you
- 23:57know, he was struggling. It had been talked about, don't
- 23:59get me wrong, but it wasn't front page news like it was
- 24:02judged. So I wanted to, you know, I
- 24:03wanted to hear what everybody's opinion and thoughts on it
- 24:06where, where you know, when winning helps and you know, you
- 24:09guys have even said it and I think everybody else understands
- 24:11it. It it's it when you win, it
- 24:14hides a lot of these things, but also too when you have those
- 24:18names like you mentioned in Mookie and those guys, then you
- 24:22know, it does cover it up a little bit.
- 24:24But also where I will say that they they bought it.
- 24:27I don't necessarily because every team had a chance to get
- 24:31these free agents, right, They had a chance and you even said
- 24:35it. There's one in Will Smith that
- 24:37they've got. So you blame the Dodgers for,
- 24:40well, they're just doing what every other team could do.
- 24:43So I don't necessarily think that they're buying it or
- 24:47they're, they're the ones to blame.
- 24:49It's the guys that don't want to spend money.
- 24:52And don't they? They have the same opportunity.
- 24:55Every owner's a billionaire. Some just have a lot more bees
- 24:59than the other. But you don't just own a team
- 25:02because that's the only thing you do.
- 25:04So I, I mean, I feel like, and I, I think that's kind of a, a
- 25:07common denominator of, of guys that have, you know, brought
- 25:11this question to the forefront of why is everybody looking at
- 25:15the Dodgers like, what the heck, deferred money's been going on
- 25:18forever. It's just not been as prevalent
- 25:20as it is now. But you have every other team
- 25:23that has every opportunity to do this same thing.
- 25:26So don't look at them. Look at, look at your team's
- 25:29owner. Be like, why aren't we doing
- 25:30this? But we've seen what teams have
- 25:33done paying these guys where just because you buy them
- 25:38doesn't mean necessarily mean you win.
- 25:41The way that they structured the deals, yes, 100% where they can
- 25:44afford all these guys now. But I mean, you look at the
- 25:48Yankees, they haven't won and they've spent a billion dollars
- 25:50between three guys. So what are you going to do?
- 25:54You spent 700 for the Mets plus Lindo or plus all the other
- 25:58guys. There's a billion dollars right
- 26:00there. So just because you spend it
- 26:02doesn't necessarily mean you win it.
- 26:04The Dodgers just doing it and they've had guys to buy in.
- 26:07Like are you going to take deferred money to be able to
- 26:10have a chance to be in the World Series and know that you're
- 26:12going to have a pretty damn good chance yeah, if you if winning
- 26:16means that much 100%. But going back to it, Ohtani
- 26:21right now, no, there's no way that he's he's on the
- 26:27trajectory, like you said, he's on that path, but he hasn't
- 26:32played long enough to even like, is he starting to be considered
- 26:35the same thing we talked about Judge, is judge great?
- 26:38Yes. But is he going to get to
- 26:40legendary status? But he has to win and he can do
- 26:44everything that he can do, but you can't do it by yourself
- 26:48either. And so Otani obviously has help.
- 26:52If he continues to do what he's doing right now, then yes, it's
- 26:57if he plays 6-7 more years and does this, then he's 100% in the
- 27:02question without a doubt. He single handedly had the like
- 27:06one of the greatest games ever. I went in and said probably the
- 27:10the greatest game, right is Don Lars, perfect game, but ten
- 27:14punch outs and three homers and then everybody's like, well, if
- 27:18that was judged, they wouldn't have pitched to him and blah,
- 27:20blah, blah. Well, they did and he's still at
- 27:22Homer. You know how hard it is to hit
- 27:23Homer And he had three and punched out 10.
- 27:26It's you're, you're probably not ever going to see that.
- 27:28I'm not saying that it's not special, but look at look at
- 27:31these numbers. Shay Ohtani is batting 225 in
- 27:34his career. In the.
- 27:35Playoffs, 23 hits, eight home runs, 19 RBIs, 21 runs scored in
- 27:4026 postseason career games. All right, That, ladies and
- 27:44gentlemen is not a world beater when you compare numbers like
- 27:49Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, even Roger Maris, what he did in the
- 27:54playoffs, Yogi Berra, what he did in the playoffs.
- 27:56That's just then. How about now in these days,
- 28:00look at Derek Jeters numbers in the playoffs.
- 28:03Go look at Bernie Williams numbers in the playoffs.
- 28:06I'm just I'm naming Yankees. So to sit here and say that Shay
- 28:11Ohtani, because of what he did to eliminate the Brewers, the
- 28:16young Brewers, Oh my God, he is absolutely the greatest player
- 28:22of all time. It's ridiculous.
- 28:24Is it one of the greatest games? If you want to say that, yeah, I
- 28:27guess you can consider that is one of the greatest baseball
- 28:30games. And by the way, I want to give,
- 28:32I want to say something to Stephen A Smith, OK, because his
- 28:37absolute bogus take to this Shay Ohtani thing makes me laugh.
- 28:44This is a man we've gone back now.
- 28:48Stephen A Smith is a New York Yankee fan.
- 28:51Everybody knows that. He he roots for New York sports.
- 28:54He always does OK, in the beginning of the year, in the
- 28:58middle of the year, he he went back and forth trying to compare
- 29:02Shay Ohtani and Aaron Judge. And he said Aaron Judge is I
- 29:05would take Aaron George over Shay Otani ADA after this game.
- 29:10He he he went back and forth with this in in his take and he
- 29:13pretty much brushed Aaron Judge's 500.
- 29:17His averaging 500 in the playoffs under the rug to a guy
- 29:21that's hitting 220 in the playoffs and because of one game
- 29:25with 10 strikeouts and three home runs saying, OK, he's
- 29:28considered I would consider him as one of the top five top six
- 29:32players of all time already. I mean, come on, Steven, you
- 29:35cannot sell me on any of those takes and you're going to sell
- 29:39you're going to sell that to a sports fan.
- 29:40I'm sorry, I I completely brushed that under the rug and
- 29:44I'm I'm not one to attack anybody on this show because I
- 29:48don't want to. I don't want the backlash, but I
- 29:50don't give a crap. I'm going to attack it when I
- 29:52feel like it's just absolute bogusness.
- 29:54So that's just my opinion. All right, my golf clap of the
- 29:59day. This deserves a golf clap.
- 30:03No doubt. Golf clap golf clap All right,
- 30:08my golf clap of the day is pretty simple ladies and
- 30:10gentlemen. I had to laugh at this and I got
- 30:12to give a shout out to Fish are my executive producer and Jared
- 30:16all the guys that were telling me about this.
- 30:18Broncos Dre Greenlaw suspended for one game for conduct towards
- 30:24a ref Denver Broncos linebacker Greenlaw has been suspended one
- 30:28game by the NFL for an unsportsmanlike conduct towards
- 30:32a referee following Sunday's game against the New York
- 30:35Giants, the league announced on Monday.
- 30:37According to the NFL statement, Greenlaws chased a referee, Brad
- 30:42Allen, and verbally threatened him as he tried to leave the
- 30:47field. Now if you think about this,
- 30:51just have this sink into your head, guys.
- 30:53The game's over. Everybody's in the middle of the
- 30:55field. You know, the coaches are
- 30:57shaking hands there, you know, Dables pissed off and the
- 31:01quarterbacks. And this guy, Drake Greenlaw,
- 31:04who by the way, is a great player.
- 31:07He was great with San Francisco and he's known to be a really
- 31:10good leader. Goes after runs after a referee
- 31:15that's probably around almost 60 years old and threatens him and
- 31:20practically threatens his life because of the bad call that he
- 31:24made during the game, actually putting his hands on one of his
- 31:28players. I mean, how stupid can you be?
- 31:32How dumb could you be knowing that you're a professional
- 31:36athlete, you're one of the leaders, you're one of the
- 31:38captains of the Denver Broncos. And you go out there at the end
- 31:42of the game instead of going in the middle of field and being
- 31:45excited that your team just came back from that unbelievable
- 31:50probable loss and and you run after a referee and trying to
- 31:53kill him. I mean, think about it, it's
- 32:00embarrassing, absolutely embarrassing.
- 32:03So my, my Golf Club of the day has to go to Drake Greenlaw.
- 32:08I, I would have suspended him for another game, maybe 2, maybe
- 32:113. I mean, to think that this man
- 32:14would go after a lonely referee at the end of the game.
- 32:17You could have pulled him to the side, but a little bit more
- 32:19professional, not do it the way you did.
- 32:22It was just absolutely embarrassing.
- 32:23So my Golf Club goes to the Denver Broncos.
- 32:26Drake Greenlaw for being an absolute Jackass.
- 32:30So my Golf Club goes to Mr. Drake.
- 32:32Alright, save your tears. Mom.
- 32:34What's one thing that you can't talk to me about my sexual
- 32:39fantasies. Say yourself it is not ideal.
- 32:44But if it's what means, it is not ideal, but if it's just not
- 32:46ideal, but if it is, what mean? You can't treble stamp a double
- 32:50stamp, you can't treble stamp a double stamp, Lord, you can't
- 32:52dribble stamp a double stamp. But but you guys, I'm not bad.
- 32:57Now time for save your tear. Welcome back to Save Your Tears,
- 33:05everyone's favorite tear based daily fantasy contest for Week 7
- 33:10of the NFL. Again, this is the compliment
- 33:13Chorus edition of Save Your Tears.
- 33:16It's a good one. The scores pretty big variance,
- 33:19real high scores at the top, real low scores at the bottom.
- 33:22Java. I don't know if you got a chance
- 33:25to check out the segment from last week, but we used the Java
- 33:28Wheel of Destiny to make your picks.
- 33:32Unfortunately, Java the wheel and here's here's where the
- 33:36selections you can pick from. There's a couple of names on
- 33:39there that did not really do much and some $1.00 guys that
- 33:42did pretty well. One of those $1.00 guys that did
- 33:45did not do well was Justin Fields.
- 33:46No one was dumb enough, I believe to take them.
- 33:48Oh wait, the wheel was Jabba. You ended up with Justin Fields.
- 33:54You ended up a lot of us took Reese Hall.
- 33:56He did nothing Good performers of the day.
- 34:00Cam Scatabo obviously did well with the Giants, scoring a lot
- 34:03of points and still losing. Someone took Bryce Young, he got
- 34:06hurt. Bo Nicks was the big point guy
- 34:09with the two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns.
- 34:12Are you guys ready for the big reveal?
- 34:13Let's just do it. Here it is.
- 34:16It's Toffee. Whoops with the win.
- 34:21With a big time score, it's being really smart going with a
- 34:26bunch of giants. I think the Errol, you get beat
- 34:29here because Theo Johnson got that deflected touchdown and
- 34:33that was really the difference here between you and him.
- 34:35Errol again, killing it in the FedEx Cub standings.
- 34:39I'm assuming if Speedy's going to keep track of them, Errol's
- 34:43got to be way at the top of the FedEx Cup every year.
- 34:47And I got third on this one kind of by default.
- 34:50Speedy, you the one that took Bryce, Bryce Young, he got hurt
- 34:53with the ankle. Dowdle, for some reason, was not
- 34:56the starting running back in that game behind Chubba.
- 34:59Hubbard and a bunch of other guys didn't really do all that
- 35:03much. Mayer did only got.
- 35:06Two points. Not really good.
- 35:09Sutton was a big point getter in this one.
- 35:12Jackson Dart obviously good points.
- 35:13Mahomes was good but not worth the $5.00 with the other guys
- 35:16that perform in them. What a great job.
- 35:19Here it is Tommy, your compliment chorus.
- 35:23Let's start with Jabba representing the wheel of Jabba.
- 35:28Yeah, the wheel. The wheel knew Tommy was going
- 35:31to win. So it's, you know, he was, he
- 35:34was always, like we said he was, he was in the wedding party, but
- 35:37he was never the bride or the groom.
- 35:38But now we've seen him, you know, step his game up.
- 35:41You know, he's, he's he's maturing like wine.
- 35:45You know as it gets, you know it just gets better with age over
- 35:49here. So great picks.
- 35:51I mean you stayed true to your giants.
- 35:53I will give you all the credit in the world cuz you believed in
- 35:57them and look what happened. You're back on top of you.
- 35:59Great job, boy, that. Was excellent.
- 36:03Speedy PD First I will say I am the real last place of this
- 36:06week. I'm not going to get a I'm not
- 36:07going to take size a Java for having to be stuck with a wheel
- 36:10that gave him a combined like $10 or something like that.
- 36:12The wheel. Was not nice.
- 36:13We felt bad and gave you Kelsey for $5.00 because you didn't
- 36:17spend that much money. The wheel was real.
- 36:19I was just looking at the team. I was like, Dang, I've
- 36:21definitely had some, some rolled over.
- 36:22Money was. Brutal to you.
- 36:24So you were you were ahead of me this week Java.
- 36:26But for our winner Tommy Scoop, she did threw some darts this
- 36:30week with your picks. Very impressive.
- 36:32You were when I was a skeptical of scat against a very good run
- 36:35defense in the Denver Broncos. Very good overall defense in the
- 36:38Denver Broncos. You were bold enough to stick
- 36:40with your guns with our New York football giants and even Theo
- 36:43Johnson, a guy that again, he's been waiting for him for the
- 36:46long term for development with him.
- 36:47But definitely him and Bellinger definitely showed off in that
- 36:50game and you were smart enough to pick them.
- 36:52Whereas I took a quarterback that was a number one overall
- 36:53pick and got hurt. All right, Tommy, when you look
- 37:00through the sands of time, especially in the professional
- 37:06wrestling sands of time, your meteoric rise.
- 37:12I decided to try to figure out who would be the greatest
- 37:15comparison. It to me, it feels like the
- 37:17American Nightmare. Cody Rhodes, you and him are on
- 37:21the same type of trajectory. He again, you know, for a while
- 37:26he started out as a jobber. Not saying you were ever a
- 37:29jobber or anything like that, Tommy.
- 37:31What the hell is a? Job A.
- 37:34Jobber A. Jobber A.
- 37:36Jobber. You know a guy that they would
- 37:37just run out there with a headband that would get his butt
- 37:40kicked into a man robot and get slammed.
- 37:42Robot. Jabba.
- 37:43Jabba takes it up. The arrow is Jabba when he has
- 37:45his dobber in the dirt. Let me get back to being
- 37:50complimentary, you see. You go down their legs.
- 37:55Then you get to the chance where you can get the Intercontinental
- 37:57title, but they give you a crappy gimmick, Tommy, they give
- 38:00you a crappy gimmick and you can't.
- 38:02You got to go to AW and you got to come back.
- 38:05I see. Like a serial killer.
- 38:06And look at you now, gold medal once again at the Topper in the
- 38:11dirt. Save your tears.
- 38:12You're now the American nightmare, Tommy.
- 38:15Whoa, got to hit. Had to hit one of those real
- 38:18quick. What kind of compliment is that?
- 38:22I like it was a personal compliment that was thoughtful
- 38:25and caring. I liked all the references and I
- 38:27understood all of them. So thank you, Fish.
- 38:29I could care less about any of those references.
- 38:31Of course you couldn't. What?
- 38:33You didn't win. You got second, All right?
- 38:39I would have talked about, you know, freaking honey mustard
- 38:42dressing. Yeah.
- 38:44First of all, it's honey mustard, not dressing.
- 38:47It's salad dressing bro. It's no, it's not.
- 38:50It's mustard in, I mean. Basically.
- 38:52Technically it is salad dressing.
- 38:53I can't imagine you putting that on your salad though.
- 38:55That's a very no. I would not put that salad
- 38:57dressing. Thousand Islands is where I
- 38:59would go with my salad dressing. You know that's just ketchup and
- 39:03Mayo, right? That's very bad dressing,
- 39:04actually. That's Russian.
- 39:06That's Russian by. The.
- 39:07Way no Russian has relish in it. That's with relish in it.
- 39:10Thousand Islands. Just literally ketchup and Mayo.
- 39:12You can make it by mixing them together with a like pickle
- 39:15juice in there too. I like the usher in the
- 39:17background, so I can't I can't hate on that one.
- 39:19I feel very constipated listening to this track anyways,
- 39:25you know? You sure that isn't your pizza?
- 39:27That. That could be the pizza too,
- 39:33Tommy man, I can't I can't say anything bad about you man,
- 39:38besides you taking dumps and and doing what you do best.
- 39:41I I think your quality of the introductions on this show when
- 39:47it comes to wrestling, when it comes to takes or even when
- 39:51you're working on the board is sensational.
- 39:53You look the part, you keep growing your hair and maybe one
- 39:58day you'll look like Don King. You're fantastic, my friend.
- 40:07Backhanded compliment right there.
- 40:10Again, this I don't know if Don King is 51%. 23 years.
- 40:18Old are you saying his? Are you saying the business
- 40:20acumen of Don King? I can get behind that.
- 40:23As a compliment, we can only hope.
- 40:28Not the hair. So the hair would look pretty
- 40:31good with it, but. Although although I have been
- 40:34told that my hair is so bad, I look like a Jewish Don King when
- 40:37my hair is standing straight. On Well, I don't know about
- 40:39that. That would be a scary Jewish
- 40:41man. Hold on.
- 40:45Oh, man. Please.
- 40:46No, that's not good. That's not good, Tom.
- 40:50Another time. You are sensational, great
- 40:53personality and always been behind me on everything that
- 40:57I've done and and still do. I love you as family.
- 41:01Your brother dates my sister so I guess we can call each other
- 41:05somewhat of a family. So congratulations on the win.
- 41:09Cherish it because next week you will lose.
- 41:11Oh man. Appreciate y'all, appreciate it
- 41:15All right again, when you lose and save your tears, you can't
- 41:19cry about it. You got to save your tears.
- 41:21We'll be back next week. I'm not crying, I'm just giving
- 41:26you my take here. Thank you to all the fans.
- 41:28We really appreciate everybody listening to us.
- 41:30Speedy, who do we have on the show on Wednesday?
- 41:33All right. Joining the show for the first
- 41:34time at 8:45 will be Emmanuel Bar Barberi, Yankees postgame
- 41:38host. He's on WFAN and SNY and also to
- 41:40some college basketball broadcasting for for Fox and for
- 41:44Siena Hoops as well. Manny is one of the nicest
- 41:47people I have ever met. I saw him at an event that I was
- 41:50over the summer. He noticed me, I noticed him, we
- 41:53spoke. He is a lot taller than I
- 41:56expected guys like 6 foot 4, but very, very nice kid.
- 42:00He's doing good things. He's doing big things with the
- 42:03Yankees. At one point a lot of people
- 42:06thought was going to be the voice of the New York Yankees,
- 42:08but he's growing into it and I'm I'm looking forward to seeing
