Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, Jake, tell me how you would feel. Two
- 0:02Speaker 1: and a half years ago, you and your best friend
- 0:05Speaker 1: started a podcast, and not long into the journey, you
- 0:07Speaker 1: said to him, Hey, check out this podcast, Shits and Gigs.
- 0:11Speaker 1: They're pretty good. And ever since then you've been pretty
- 0:14Speaker 1: much a die hard fan, a Patreon member, and honestly,
- 0:18Speaker 1: it would be a dream guest. And just two days ago,
- 0:22Speaker 1: you and that same best friend just did a podcast,
- 0:25Speaker 1: a co podcast with Shits and Gigs together.
- 0:28Speaker 2: How do you feel? Fucking I feel adrenaline. It's all
- 0:34Speaker 2: coming back to me.
- 0:36Speaker 1: It's a great surreal feeling, it is, isn't it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of weird, like I am leading up
- 0:46Speaker 2: to it. I wasn't that nervous. Maybe I had did
- 0:49Speaker 2: the girl's bathroom the week before, which felt good, and
- 0:53Speaker 2: so I was glad we did that, and so we
- 0:56Speaker 2: really we put like a bit of thought into the
- 0:57Speaker 2: structure of how we wanted to do the episode withs
- 0:59Speaker 2: and Gear. You put a lot of thought into it. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 2: you guys listening. Whoever was listening to this right now
- 1:03Speaker 2: has probably already listened to the Ships and Gigs episode,
- 1:05Speaker 2: and let us know what you thought. But just like
- 1:11Speaker 2: the night like we did it, and then I went
- 1:14Speaker 2: back to Best Place, and I still stayed in Sydney
- 1:17Speaker 2: because the next day we had to go do Jimmy
- 1:18Speaker 2: and Nath's podcast.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and so Australian radio station thing.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah and so yeah, just some fucking a lot of
- 1:26Speaker 2: fucking good blokes that were good blokes. A lot of
- 1:28Speaker 2: people would know who they are, true too, good point Jimmy,
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah they are Australian Radio and then have a podcast.
- 1:33Speaker 2: But they really I really liked on the but uh,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I thought like because I was like having a come
- 1:39Speaker 2: down from doing the podcast with ships and gigs, and
- 1:41Speaker 2: I was like, I'm going to be exhausted. And I
- 1:44Speaker 2: remember being pretty tired, and I went to bed pretty early,
- 1:47Speaker 2: maybe like nine point thirty, didn't have to wake up
- 1:49Speaker 2: till like seven. It's chilling. About one. I woke up
- 1:55Speaker 2: for a piss. I went took a piss and I
- 1:57Speaker 2: got back into bed and I was like, for some reason,
- 2:02Speaker 2: my mind was replaying from the moment we introduced them
- 2:08Speaker 2: until the end of the episode, and I was like,
- 2:11Speaker 2: I was just thinking to myself. I was like, I've
- 2:13Speaker 2: done it. I've done the thing that I should have
- 2:15Speaker 2: been stressed about why, and I had like this anxious
- 2:18Speaker 2: pit in my stomach for some reason.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It's funny you said that the last two nights gone
- 2:22Speaker 1: to sleep, I've been mad anxious. Yeah, And I don't
- 2:25Speaker 1: know what about because normally I get a little bit nervous.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I was comparing it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: To when I used to have big sporting events, and
- 2:30Speaker 1: I get nervous before the event or before the race
- 2:32Speaker 1: and as soon as it started gone, And that's what
- 2:34Speaker 1: I was thinking it would be like with this.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, but I.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Didn't really get that nervous beforehand, and then after I've
- 2:39Speaker 1: just been anxious and the same thing. I stayed in
- 2:41Speaker 1: Sydney in a hotel room. Maybe I'll get to that story.
- 2:43Speaker 1: That was a terrible day for me.
- 2:46Speaker 2: But before I went to better like ten and I
- 2:48Speaker 2: couldn't fall asleep.
- 2:49Speaker 1: My head was just racing and I had a bit
- 2:51Speaker 1: of like anxiety in my stomach, and I was bringing
- 2:53Speaker 1: down to im in a foreign and like I was
- 2:55Speaker 1: in a hotel room. I was like, I'm just not
- 2:56Speaker 1: my own bed and I was just stressing. But it
- 2:59Speaker 1: was funny and yeah, I just.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Remember, yeah, I was, I was awake and I was
- 3:02Speaker 2: trying to fall back asleep, and I was like, this
- 3:04Speaker 2: is so. I was like, this is not like me
- 3:07Speaker 2: at all. I was just thinking, I've done the thing. Yeah,
- 3:10Speaker 2: why am I anxious? I had to put a podcast in,
- 3:13Speaker 2: like my fucking air pods. I put his best red music. Yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 2: I was. I had to put a podcast in, and
- 3:19Speaker 2: I just had to go try and choose like one
- 3:21Speaker 2: of the most boring ones. It's like fucking Chris Williams.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Sorry mate, but it's a little bit boring. You're not
- 3:26Speaker 2: gonna lie. It's like a little bit of.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Well that probably brings up a good point too, what
- 3:32Speaker 1: this episode is going to be. It's gonna be a
- 3:33Speaker 1: little bit different, not as clippy as usual. Yeah, we've
- 3:37Speaker 1: been doing a lot of things in the background and
- 3:39Speaker 1: a lot of things at face value, and it's been getting.
- 3:43Speaker 2: On top of us a little bit.
- 3:44Speaker 1: So we wanted to have a little debrief of what
- 3:46Speaker 1: we've been doing.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Kind of an appreciation.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I want to sign it kind of stay.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I've been started editing relatables.
- 3:54Speaker 2: It's very cool.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, sorry, Yeah, the Shitting Gigs episode, and it's
- 3:59Speaker 1: just like I want to maintain their relatability of it
- 4:02Speaker 1: because that's such a high. Now we're coming off it,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I want to like debrief with you how we're feeling
- 4:07Speaker 1: through it, because we also can't always communicate normally how
- 4:09Speaker 1: we can. And then also just everything else that's going
- 4:12Speaker 1: on in life, like the about behind the scenes business
- 4:14Speaker 1: side of things.
- 4:15Speaker 2: And I also don't want to just like forget about it. Yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 2: you know, I kind of want to. I don't want
- 4:19Speaker 2: to just be like, cool, milestone, what's next, Like I
- 4:25Speaker 2: want to try and like actually relish it a little bit.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I appreciate it, like it's fucking sick. And then I'm
- 4:30Speaker 1: also thinking he's me overthinking. I don't want to be
- 4:32Speaker 1: one of those guys who just talks about all that
- 4:33Speaker 1: the ships and gigs were on their pods all the time.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I mean, look, we don't have to talk about that.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I think I just want to. It's like I guess
- 4:40Speaker 2: I would prefer to, like I think it's hard to
- 4:45Speaker 2: be like I think we're not bad at it, but
- 4:48Speaker 2: it's hard to sit down and just be like, first off,
- 4:53Speaker 2: I guess what we could say is like fucking congrats,
- 4:56Speaker 2: So like from me to you, congrats like genuinely and
- 4:58Speaker 2: vice versa. Yeah, yeah, it's like just fucking wild.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I was thinking that too, Like, I'm proud of us
- 5:04Speaker 1: for the journey we've had together and also firstly, well
- 5:08Speaker 1: to start on like this is the first time we
- 5:10Speaker 1: had to interview random people.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we did it a couple of times in just
- 5:14Speaker 2: two weeks. Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So we had the girls Bathroom last week, which I
- 5:16Speaker 1: was way more nervous for.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and I.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Think we did pretty good. Yeah, or you're considering the
- 5:21Speaker 1: comments on YouTube? Yeah, have you seen them?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to say, like the Girls' bathroom listeners
- 5:27Speaker 1: they are the.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Bad love the baddies obviously better than the baddies, but
- 5:34Speaker 2: the girls Bathroom listeners are on part with the bad. Yeah.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I can't believe it. Nice genuine people. When we will
- 5:41Speaker 2: see we'll see what sits and gigs. We haven't posted
- 5:43Speaker 2: hits and gigs as of recording this, guys, we'll see
- 5:45Speaker 2: what they're fucking listeners are like.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so cool seeing the different types of communities
- 5:49Speaker 1: and everything like that. And I think just because the
- 5:52Speaker 1: Girl's Bathroom like they grew up with all their listeners
- 5:55Speaker 1: they did.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, true, because they were doing it since they were
- 5:57Speaker 2: like sixteen.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so they have like such a good, strong connection
- 6:01Speaker 1: and like I think because they said we're like good
- 6:05Speaker 1: enough to go on their podcast, their fans really appreciated that.
- 6:08Speaker 2: So we appreciated that as well. Oh yeah, one hundred percent.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It was cool. Like the comments on their YouTube video.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I didn't read, but Beth had read a couple. She
- 6:16Speaker 2: said that the response was really nice. It's good. Like
- 6:19Speaker 2: there was someone said something like, well, maybe you told
- 6:21Speaker 2: me this. I think I did. You might have told
- 6:23Speaker 2: me this where someone said, oh, usually when you guys
- 6:25Speaker 2: get guests on, they don't understand your show. And these guys,
- 6:31Speaker 2: because we do dilemmas a lot on our show, I
- 6:33Speaker 2: think we just kind of like, well, worse for fucking
- 6:35Speaker 2: this is us. It's what we do. So they were like, oh,
- 6:38Speaker 2: it just kind of made sense like that. It seemed
- 6:39Speaker 2: like they understood what the premise of the show was.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Also, we really do our due diligence going on to
- 6:44Speaker 1: other people's pods and getting We wanted to like make
- 6:47Speaker 1: it tailored around them so they felt comfortable and it's
- 6:50Speaker 1: sort of like what they do with a relatable twist
- 6:52Speaker 1: on it. Yeah kind of thing. They really wanted to
- 6:54Speaker 1: make them feel at home essentially.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it was cool with someone someone that listened
- 6:58Speaker 2: to the Girl's bassroor episode of I was commented on YouTube,
- 7:02Speaker 2: like I've been a fan of these guys for like
- 7:06Speaker 2: ten years. They one time replied to my snapchat message
- 7:09Speaker 2: giving me helping me with a dilemma. Really, they were like,
- 7:11Speaker 2: it's crazy to see full circle that I like became
- 7:14Speaker 2: a listener of Relatables, not through them, but then you
- 7:17Speaker 2: guys did a collapse. She says, it's just like wild
- 7:19Speaker 2: to see.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It is cool, crazy, just like worlds colliding. Honestly, it's
- 7:24Speaker 1: just so hard to comprehend.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I don't know. Just at one point, like I like, yeah, okay,
- 7:30Speaker 2: we we'll get introduced yesterday on the podcast we were
- 7:33Speaker 2: on as like the wildly successful podcast Relatables, and I
- 7:39Speaker 2: was like, I mean to be fair, like maybe, but
- 7:42Speaker 2: at the same time, it's like, when do you feel that.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I don't technically like that. Why. I think it's a
- 7:49Speaker 2: bit of like propaganda. It is a little bit. I
- 7:52Speaker 2: don't really like that.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I think we're successful because we have fun doing it,
- 7:57Speaker 1: not necessarily because we've been.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Able to monitor.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Yeah one times a that well, trying to trying to
- 8:07Speaker 1: but yeah, when does it become like I don't know,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I think it's that always, do you know how like
- 8:11Speaker 1: you always say when I have this, I'll be happy,
- 8:14Speaker 1: And it's like us two years ago when we were
- 8:15Speaker 1: here would be happy, and we're always looking for that
- 8:17Speaker 1: one more thing.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Humans suck, bro, Yeah we do. We'll talk because we
- 8:20Speaker 2: actually asked. I remember we asked shits and gigs, the
- 8:23Speaker 2: good interviewers we are first remember being interested in asking
- 8:27Speaker 2: like what was you know? I was like, you guys,
- 8:29Speaker 2: fucking you know you've got two million subscribers, blah blah blah,
- 8:32Speaker 2: like do you have a goal for next? And I
- 8:34Speaker 2: remember they said that they did this small list at
- 8:37Speaker 2: the start, like we want thousand followers, we want to
- 8:39Speaker 2: make a thousand pounds a month from Patreon, a couple
- 8:42Speaker 2: of things, and then when they hit that, they made
- 8:45Speaker 2: this outrageous one of like a million subscribers like bang
- 8:49Speaker 2: bang bang, And then when they hit that, they said
- 8:51Speaker 2: they haven't set any goals since then.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Really, yeah, I think that's kind of Oh, it's good
- 8:55Speaker 1: to work towards something, but also like I suppose that's
- 8:58Speaker 1: good to live in the present moment too. Yeah, because
- 9:01Speaker 1: this industry is so fast paced and so easy to
- 9:03Speaker 1: get caught up and doing all these amazing things. And
- 9:06Speaker 1: I think what was happening to us is like our
- 9:08Speaker 1: feelings were catching up because we were moving so quickly.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Like the anxiety like hit it a standing, like the
- 9:13Speaker 1: nervousness just hit it.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Oh, like where was this? I'm glad I hit it
- 9:17Speaker 2: be after, but it hit me after. It was weird. Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I don't want to act like you said it on
- 9:23Speaker 1: the podcast, like it's not normal for us to this
- 9:25Speaker 1: interview that wasn't a normal experience. I know, they're just
- 9:28Speaker 1: normal people. Like at the end of the day, they're
- 9:30Speaker 1: just two human beings. Okay, yes, and I don't want
- 9:32Speaker 1: to like put them on a pedestal, but they're in
- 9:35Speaker 1: the industry of the podcast world. They're so big and
- 9:37Speaker 1: they mean so much to us, and it's just also
- 9:40Speaker 1: just such a big occasion for us because our whole
- 9:42Speaker 1: lives are consumed by being podcasters.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Ca. Yeah, so's here's what I was thinking about, right, Yeah,
- 9:48Speaker 2: is I was thinking like I was like, I was like,
- 9:51Speaker 2: fuck me not, are you just a couple dudes? Have
- 9:54Speaker 2: normal fucking guys? Right? And then I was like those
- 9:57Speaker 2: two look at each other the way, like the way
- 9:58Speaker 2: the way I look at you when you look at me,
- 10:00Speaker 2: like I don't look at you as famous Oddie Clark, No,
- 10:03Speaker 2: and you don't look at me as famous, Jake Greg.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But then there is some people out there that might
- 10:07Speaker 2: think that, right, And then the way that we look
- 10:11Speaker 2: at James and foo Had or Sophia and Chincia is like,
- 10:15Speaker 2: oh that they're famous. Yeah, but they look at each
- 10:19Speaker 2: other like James, if you had would look at each
- 10:20Speaker 2: other the way you and I look each other. And
- 10:21Speaker 2: I find that so hard to understand because it's like, waiting,
- 10:24Speaker 2: from my perspective, you guys are obviously so fucking famous,
- 10:26Speaker 2: but from their perspective, they're probably like the way we feel,
- 10:29Speaker 2: isn't that so interesting? So it's kind of like I
- 10:32Speaker 2: don't mind putting them on a pedestal, because to you
- 10:34Speaker 2: and I they actually are like this, They are like that,
- 10:38Speaker 2: and I'm not gonna see here and pretend like that
- 10:40Speaker 2: was a normal fucking experience. When they reposted our story,
- 10:44Speaker 2: I screenshot at it and it's on my phone just
- 10:47Speaker 2: because just so I have proof. Yeah, Like I'm a
- 10:52Speaker 2: fucking fan. I'm gonna be a fan, And you know what,
- 10:54Speaker 2: I'm so happy we did. Is like the start of
- 10:59Speaker 2: the episode, we were like, look, I'm glad. We were like,
- 11:02Speaker 2: this isn't normal for us, Yeah, this is.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Like, well, I just want to maintain their relatability too,
- 11:07Speaker 1: Like we are everyone's normal blocks. Yeah, and even though
- 11:10Speaker 1: we might not be perceived that way by other people,
- 11:12Speaker 1: like you said, which is so true, and we perceive
- 11:14Speaker 1: other people as famous. Yeah, like I want to somehow
- 11:17Speaker 1: maintain that relatability side of things, of how we're feeling
- 11:19Speaker 1: and like that's not normal. We were shitting ourselves, like
- 11:22Speaker 1: we prepped the fuck out of that episode.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yeah, we also fucked up a couple times, like yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 1: it was all good, a little bit here and there.
- 11:29Speaker 1: It wasn't perfect, but we did our best and I'm
- 11:31Speaker 1: happy with the end result.
- 11:32Speaker 2: How I guess should we how do we do like
- 11:37Speaker 2: a check in? What's what's like a good premise for
- 11:39Speaker 2: a check in? How do we I.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Had a good question, I was going to say, how
- 11:42Speaker 1: do you think you've been going? So when we talk
- 11:45Speaker 1: to each other, we sort of know where the conversation's
- 11:48Speaker 1: leading and say the things we want to say and
- 11:52Speaker 1: how we're meant to Sam, But I have noticed with
- 11:54Speaker 1: me anyway, when I'm spitting something out with someone else,
- 11:57Speaker 1: they sort of lead the conversation somewhere else, which isn't bad.
- 12:00Speaker 1: But sometimes I might say something and it's not particularly
- 12:02Speaker 1: exactly what I'm trying to say, Yeah, to try and
- 12:05Speaker 1: keep the conversation going. Have you really done any of
- 12:07Speaker 1: that as well? I think definitely, like just subconsciously when
- 12:13Speaker 1: they're sort of in the conversation too. And me and
- 12:15Speaker 1: Jake have such a strong connection. We know where the
- 12:17Speaker 1: conversation is heading. And then sometimes I'll be like, oh, fuck,
- 12:19Speaker 1: I didn't say that, right, did I?
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you just have to keep going with it fully agree, Yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 2: even with guesting on Yeah, it's like it's hard with
- 12:27Speaker 2: other people. It's definitely hard with other people. And you
- 12:30Speaker 2: can't just go on and like you can't have someone
- 12:33Speaker 2: come on your podcast and just do this. Yeah, and
- 12:36Speaker 2: then just every now and then be like try and
- 12:38Speaker 2: like just say, guests is every the second? What do
- 12:40Speaker 2: you think? Yeah, like what's the point of getting them
- 12:42Speaker 2: into the show? And then the same is going on
- 12:44Speaker 2: another podcast. It's like they obviously want you to be involved,
- 12:47Speaker 2: but you and I can't go on a podcast as
- 12:48Speaker 2: guests and just start fucking talking like we would talk
- 12:51Speaker 2: and just be like, oh, yeah, so this is your show.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, because I realized that the other day because when
- 12:55Speaker 1: we went on Jimmy and Naith, like I said, they're
- 12:57Speaker 1: like a big Australian radio show and the have a
- 12:58Speaker 1: podcast and I'll was explaining like Jake and Iz's relationship
- 13:03Speaker 1: and how it formed, and I sort of underplayed a
- 13:05Speaker 1: little bit. But I didn't do that on purpose. Yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 1: And I was like I sort of played it was
- 13:09Speaker 1: like I didn't appreciate it. I don't think you really cared.
- 13:11Speaker 1: But it wasn't how I was.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Trying to and how I took it.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's like what I was saying. I was like,
- 13:15Speaker 1: this isn't how I'm trying to fucking say this, And.
- 13:17Speaker 2: It was just coming out that way. And the good
- 13:19Speaker 2: thing about it, so if we were on our show,
- 13:20Speaker 2: we could like where we're gonna cut that out of
- 13:21Speaker 2: restart and we'll get this right. Yeah. That one was
- 13:25Speaker 2: so fast paced. I didn't realize we started. Oh yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 2: it was. It's interesting how different shows were. Yeah, very interesting.
- 13:33Speaker 2: How do you feel now having we're home, we're back
- 13:39Speaker 2: in our studio. I'm so happy to be home.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Honestly, it's something about recording in your own studio. We
- 13:45Speaker 1: walked in the studio today and it's like walking back
- 13:47Speaker 1: into your own house after a hotel or like a
- 13:49Speaker 1: big week away or something like that, and I kind
- 13:53Speaker 1: of just want to zen out and really concentrate on
- 13:56Speaker 1: us now.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Same, like we've done the thing. I'm not really strike
- 14:00Speaker 1: having four I definitely want them in the future, like
- 14:01Speaker 1: more guest appearances.
- 14:03Speaker 2: No, we kind of went from zero to one hundred
- 14:05Speaker 2: and two weeks. I'm good for Yeah, I think I'm
- 14:07Speaker 2: good with my hair unless there's unless someone else is
- 14:10Speaker 2: big is like, yeah, I'm keen, but I'm good for
- 14:12Speaker 2: a while.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I really want to focus on like our baby, like
- 14:17Speaker 1: because it's so good to get other people's audiences and
- 14:20Speaker 1: harness like of course, yeah, what they've built, but also
- 14:22Speaker 1: I want to like really focus and dive into the
- 14:25Speaker 1: Relatables podcast and make our content the best. I really
- 14:28Speaker 1: love doing this and being away from that, Like we
- 14:30Speaker 1: weren't doing any of the production anything like that. We're
- 14:32Speaker 1: rocking up having the deal with everyone else, like, which
- 14:35Speaker 1: is fine, that's part of the job. But it's so
- 14:36Speaker 1: good to be back and we can concentrate on our baby,
- 14:39Speaker 1: which is the relatibles and everyone listening, which I'm.
- 14:40Speaker 2: So keen to do same, honestly I do. I am
- 14:44Speaker 2: keen to just get back into like cause we haven't
- 14:47Speaker 2: really the way it's worked out, it feels like it's
- 14:49Speaker 2: been like a month since we recorded a proper like
- 14:53Speaker 2: Spotify Monday episode. Yeah, we've done Patreon, so that's been like,
- 14:56Speaker 2: it's nice that we still had that. Yeah, you can
- 14:58Speaker 2: still feel normal, but I'm keen to just like give
- 15:02Speaker 2: back to normal. What's it called regular, Yeah, scheduled content.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Let's get back to regular scheduled content. That's it. Hey,
- 15:12Speaker 2: I guess a big thanks to Yeah the Girls, Bathroom
- 15:15Speaker 2: and Shits and Gigs. Massive thanks with Shits and Gigs.
- 15:18Speaker 2: We were the only podcast they went on, Yeah, I know,
- 15:20Speaker 2: which we were so grateful for. And I just like
- 15:22Speaker 2: mad Boys too. They're just there to vibe out have
- 15:24Speaker 2: a good time. And also we should also say thanks
- 15:26Speaker 2: to everybody listening, because we wouldn't be able to do
- 15:29Speaker 2: that without any of you guys. No either, I think
- 15:32Speaker 2: it's kind of funny. It's like I still feel like
- 15:34Speaker 2: Chris Semi finding our feet, so isn't it weird? Like
- 15:38Speaker 2: do you reckon? You ever feel as though you have
- 15:40Speaker 2: found your feet? Because I was listening It's funny. I
- 15:43Speaker 2: was listening to to Fall Asleep when I was awake
- 15:45Speaker 2: the other night and anxious. I was listening to a
- 15:46Speaker 2: Chris Williams podcast with Tom Sagura because I actually like
- 15:49Speaker 2: Tom Sagura. Yeah, I don't really ever listen to this
- 15:51Speaker 2: Chris Williams guy, but I saw it, so I was like, oh,
- 15:53Speaker 2: fuck it, and I fell asleep. And then when I
- 15:55Speaker 2: was driving home from Sydney yesterday, I put it back
- 15:57Speaker 2: on and I was like, I just listen to it.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Fuck it, I've caught up and everything also caught up
- 16:00Speaker 2: on and I know, on the first hand, now caught
- 16:05Speaker 2: up on my boys sits in gigs. Also, I'm not
- 16:08Speaker 2: going to sit here and pretend like we're fucking friends
- 16:10Speaker 2: with them. Okay, I understand we're acquainted, but there's no
- 16:13Speaker 2: way in the world I'm gonna sit here and tell
- 16:15Speaker 2: anyone like, yeah, friends, just think gig Okay, But okay,
- 16:20Speaker 2: I was listening to it and they just like randomly
- 16:22Speaker 2: gone on this topic of how like you know they
- 16:24Speaker 2: have the world is always going to end and when
- 16:28Speaker 2: we're in twenty twelve. I remember there was that big
- 16:30Speaker 2: thing of like the doomsday clock is only up to
- 16:33Speaker 2: twenty twelve, was going to end at when that because
- 16:36Speaker 2: there's a movie called like tw the World's going to
- 16:38Speaker 2: end when the clock strikes twelve midnight on fucking New
- 16:41Speaker 2: Year's Eve twenty eleven. And so they were like, do
- 16:44Speaker 2: you think it's just always been like that, because like
- 16:48Speaker 2: the world has always just been ending, and so it's
- 16:51Speaker 2: just like humans just it's like need something like that.
- 16:55Speaker 2: So at the same time, it's like with us saying
- 16:58Speaker 2: we feel like we haven't found our feet, but then
- 17:01Speaker 2: you know, we definitely have in some cases. There's definitely
- 17:04Speaker 2: aspects of what we do where we have found our feet.
- 17:07Speaker 2: But are we just like always going to feel like
- 17:10Speaker 2: we've never found our feet? And that's just like what
- 17:13Speaker 2: keeps you going, Yeah, maybe that is why we feel
- 17:17Speaker 2: that way. I've never thought of it like that interesting.
- 17:21Speaker 2: It's weird, and I just feel like I was having
- 17:22Speaker 2: weird thoughts about it.
- 17:23Speaker 1: It's just like because like, but then there are definitely
- 17:26Speaker 1: people who are like, I'm the best, I know what
- 17:28Speaker 1: I'm doing. True, Yeah, but I think for us that
- 17:31Speaker 1: really works as it strives, gives us something to strive towards,
- 17:35Speaker 1: which is good. I feel like one of the best
- 17:38Speaker 1: takeaways from these experiences other than obviously recording with them.
- 17:43Speaker 1: But I don't know if that's being nice. I felt
- 17:45Speaker 1: like it was pretty genuine. They said we had a
- 17:47Speaker 1: good show. Yeah, after we record it, like, that's pretty
- 17:50Speaker 1: good show, you guys. It just felt real genuine. Didn't
- 17:52Speaker 1: say like they needed to say that. They probably being nice.
- 17:54Speaker 1: They were probably being really nice.
- 17:55Speaker 2: But at the same time, when they said that, they
- 17:57Speaker 2: said they were like, wait this format. They were like good. Yeah.
- 18:00Speaker 2: It was the best compliment ever, because I was thinking
- 18:02Speaker 2: about it. If they didn't like it, they would have
- 18:04Speaker 2: still been nice, but they wouldn't have said that. They
- 18:06Speaker 2: would have been like thanks for having us.
- 18:07Speaker 1: On, like yeah, yeah, exactly, they wouldn't have said anything.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And then even when we're walking out of that one,
- 18:11Speaker 1: the co produced our podcast just some random guy who
- 18:14Speaker 1: works at a podcast production studio probably sees four five
- 18:17Speaker 1: podcasts a day.
- 18:18Speaker 2: So that was my favorite podcast I've ever done it.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Yeah he did it was like, you guys are naturals. Yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I was like, we've been doing it for a couple
- 18:24Speaker 2: of years, but they trust me. We weren't.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I don't think he knew who sits and gigs were. Like,
- 18:30Speaker 1: you guys are naturals, Like make like fucking one of
- 18:32Speaker 1: the best.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Worst if he didn't know who they were and he
- 18:34Speaker 2: goes and looking up to you to feel like an
- 18:36Speaker 2: idiot you are a naturalist? How funny. But yeah, no,
- 18:41Speaker 2: in terms of feeling, I'm pretty happy. Definitely quite happy.
- 18:46Speaker 1: What do you feel like we could improve on or
- 18:50Speaker 1: do better next time?
- 18:52Speaker 2: Okay, oh next we have guests. Yeah, that's a great question.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I actually probably wouldn't really have any opinions on it
- 19:03Speaker 2: until we get feedback from listeners thinking about it. Do
- 19:06Speaker 2: you have anything?
- 19:07Speaker 1: I think just somehow figure out it's human nature to
- 19:12Speaker 1: be reserved when you first start talking to someone you
- 19:14Speaker 1: met fifteen minutes ago. But somehow figure out a way
- 19:16Speaker 1: to be as comfortable as we are right now with
- 19:19Speaker 1: them and be ourselves. Because I've edited all the episodes
- 19:22Speaker 1: in half an hour in we just kept way better.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Like we.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Start to flow the conversation, which is human naure because
- 19:27Speaker 1: we met him fifteen minutes ago. Then we're talking half
- 19:29Speaker 1: an hour. Then we're like oh shit, Yeah, I understand
- 19:31Speaker 1: how they talk, like I understand what when and when
- 19:34Speaker 1: they need to talk.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Okay, Maybe what I think to do better then is
- 19:40Speaker 2: we organize these things, and each time we do it,
- 19:45Speaker 2: we only do it with the guests that we haven't
- 19:47Speaker 2: met yet. So like, let's say we have to go
- 19:48Speaker 2: bathroom or shooting gigs on again, we probably won't need to
- 19:51Speaker 2: do this because we actually kind of have some rapport
- 19:53Speaker 2: with them. But if it's a new guest, okay, let's
- 19:56Speaker 2: say we only do it if they have a certain
- 19:59Speaker 2: they need. We need two hours of their time, okay,
- 20:02Speaker 2: But thirty minutes of that is actually just us chatting,
- 20:08Speaker 2: chatting off camera, off mike, just chatting, just just getting
- 20:13Speaker 2: to know each other a little bit. Do you exit?
- 20:14Speaker 2: Then there's that thirty minutes of like.
- 20:16Speaker 1: That's definitely why So my favorite podcast is that Shepherd
- 20:20Speaker 1: Chair Expert in his podcast with Guess, like two hours.
- 20:22Speaker 1: In the first fifteen half an hour, they just turn
- 20:25Speaker 1: the MIC's on as soon as they're walking into the studio.
- 20:27Speaker 2: It sounds like it sounds like this, yeah, like you
- 20:29Speaker 2: can hear them closing the door, yeah, and you can
- 20:31Speaker 2: hear like Dax gets up and he's like yeah, and
- 20:34Speaker 2: you're like, the fuck do you want to Colfe? I
- 20:38Speaker 2: mean he's literally just walking here? Are you re enacting there?
- 20:41Speaker 1: Yeah, looking back at it, it's such a good technique
- 20:43Speaker 1: to like get comfortable and they just keep it in
- 20:45Speaker 1: there too. So maybe we should just start recording about Oh,
- 20:47Speaker 1: we don't actually start like half an hour, it's just
- 20:49Speaker 1: like talk shit from midday.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they're just like get down, sit on the mic
- 20:52Speaker 2: and actually just talk to them like how was it
- 20:54Speaker 2: getting here? What was traffic? Like all the boring shit
- 20:56Speaker 2: that actually you would want to cut out of an episode,
- 20:58Speaker 2: but sometimes you can't because then the episode would only
- 21:00Speaker 2: be thirty minutes. Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's a good little
- 21:03Speaker 2: tip I think. I think, yeah, I think we need
- 21:05Speaker 2: to be like we're only doing it if you can
- 21:06Speaker 2: have two hours of your time and yeah, because it's
- 21:09Speaker 2: like it's not fair on you or us to just
- 21:13Speaker 2: like be fucking nervous for the first thirty minutes.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's like, mate, back before we start this podcast,
- 21:20Speaker 1: if you told me, like I had to meet someone
- 21:24Speaker 1: for ten minutes random, like I know who they are,
- 21:27Speaker 1: but complete random, and then sit down and talk to
- 21:29Speaker 1: them for an hour, I'll.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Be like, what about Wait, wait, what about what are
- 21:36Speaker 2: you talking about? I can't do that. I don't know them.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Oh, so I'm proud of us in that aspect, and
- 21:43Speaker 1: also doing these types of events has really inspired me.
- 21:48Speaker 1: And like we obviously look up the Shits and Gigs
- 21:52Speaker 1: and the Girl's Bathroom. They're in a little bit of
- 21:54Speaker 1: a different realm, but I still really appreciate what they do.
- 21:56Speaker 1: They have such a cool like podcast and audience and
- 22:00Speaker 1: also their personal channels.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just like something to it's great to look
- 22:03Speaker 2: up to.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Like even because she's thinkings are very similar to
- 22:05Speaker 1: us and the Girl's approach was very not different, but yeah,
- 22:10Speaker 1: it's different, but how they worked was very inspiring. Yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 1: and all their different avenues of harnessing their audience was
- 22:17Speaker 1: so inspiring and it really like made me think.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Like, oh shit, what they're doing.
- 22:20Speaker 1: So that's really smart and sort of just want to
- 22:23Speaker 1: take everything that's inspired me to figure out our own
- 22:25Speaker 1: journey and add little beats of pieces and make the
- 22:27Speaker 1: relatables journey even better.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels good. Not one bit of me has
- 22:31Speaker 2: been like I wish I had what they had. Well, no, neither. Yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 2: for some rey it's been really like I really am
- 22:38Speaker 2: just happy with what we have.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I appreciate our journey too because it's uniquely ours. Yeah, like,
- 22:44Speaker 1: yeah it's cool.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Fuck, it's yeah, it's just a different world. And yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 2: we just we appreciate everyone listening and yeah, I'm just
- 22:52Speaker 2: ready to keep it, keep it going. I would like
- 22:55Speaker 2: to say the two guests that are the next goals. Okay,
- 22:58Speaker 2: we've got two we didn't I know. One of them
- 23:01Speaker 2: is Dax Shepherd. Yeah, that's Oddie's number one, number one guest, right,
- 23:07Speaker 2: Like it may not like it may not even align
- 23:10Speaker 2: with us, but just the fact that I really like him,
- 23:13Speaker 2: I would love to do like a two hour podcast
- 23:14Speaker 2: with him. If we could get him, I would sit
- 23:17Speaker 2: down forever with him and we could so I can
- 23:19Speaker 2: actually relate to him in some senses because of my
- 23:21Speaker 2: mum's addiction and he had addiction and then so much.
- 23:24Speaker 2: It'd be a great conversation. But in terms of like
- 23:28Speaker 2: audience alignment, I think the next big goal should be
- 23:32Speaker 2: the basement Yard. All the basement Yard. That's another big one.
- 23:38Speaker 2: They do a line and they's so fun. Here's the
- 23:41Speaker 2: thing about them, right, they've been touring okay, and the
- 23:44Speaker 2: way we got shoots and gigas because they just happen
- 23:45Speaker 2: to be touring in Australia, same as Chinseia and Sofia.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So basement Yard. They have just announced that they're going
- 23:53Speaker 2: to do the UK. You know it comes after the
- 23:56Speaker 2: UK Australia Australia where these motherfuckers will be to Australia because.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Australia loves them and we somewhat make people good money.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I think we have good like I don't know, ratios
- 24:07Speaker 1: or something about that for people coming because artists actually
- 24:10Speaker 1: like coming to Australia.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Now, iists like it as well, like Drake's similar concept time.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah and yeah, So I reckon the Basement Yard and
- 24:19Speaker 2: that Shepherd fuck that's huge. Yeah.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I got a few of the back of my mind
- 24:23Speaker 1: which I think would be really good listens to which
- 24:25Speaker 1: I reckon we can get They're not easy to get,
- 24:27Speaker 1: but I reckon we can start putting out some feelers.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Do can be good. We can have a good chat
- 24:31Speaker 2: with inspired on employed relate to them.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I reckon, Yeah, I know a bit about them too.
- 24:35Speaker 2: We grew up here. We grew up in a very
- 24:37Speaker 2: similar area, but their's is just like an ear and
- 24:40Speaker 2: a half south of Sydney and we're an hour and
- 24:41Speaker 2: a half north.
- 24:42Speaker 1: What's good about them too is they used to have
- 24:44Speaker 1: a podcast and it could be like their last comeback
- 24:47Speaker 1: or something like that. And we talked to them for
- 24:48Speaker 1: like an hour. Yeah, and I actually wanted to do
- 24:50Speaker 1: with them. I thought about last night, funny you brought
- 24:52Speaker 1: that up. You know, my Glass Half Full with Ottie Clark.
- 24:54Speaker 1: It's on Patreon. Haven't done one on the main episodes yet,
- 24:56Speaker 1: and it's like where I flip a negative connotation or
- 24:59Speaker 1: negative situation and turn it into a positive one. I'll
- 25:01Speaker 1: look at it in a different light. They used to
- 25:03Speaker 1: do into the Vault, which is like a safe environment,
- 25:07Speaker 1: and they'd just like get the fuck up, And we
- 25:10Speaker 1: sort of subconsciously did class half full without even knowing that.
- 25:13Speaker 1: But I was thinking about the other day. I was like,
- 25:14Speaker 1: what we talked to in spied on employed about, and
- 25:16Speaker 1: we could do like a glass half full and we
- 25:18Speaker 1: play my song and be like, all right, we're in
- 25:19Speaker 1: a safe environment and we flip some like negative situations
- 25:22Speaker 1: on its head and they're like, oh, this is nice.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I feel like they'd be the perfect candidate really yeah, okay, okay,
- 25:27Speaker 1: the vault and then they'd.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Just the fuck up. Okay, what was what would they
- 25:31Speaker 2: do in the vault? Exact concept was like I'm pretty
- 25:34Speaker 2: sure could be wrong.
- 25:35Speaker 1: There was something along the line. They'd close the vault
- 25:37Speaker 1: door and then they'll just be like, I fucking hate
- 25:40Speaker 1: it when you're driving and someone pulls out and doesn't wave,
- 25:42Speaker 1: but I just want to.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Budge me to face. Okay like that, Yeah, and then
- 25:46Speaker 2: as soon as the vaults closed, like, ah, I feel better,
- 25:48Speaker 2: kind of like we listen and we don't judge. Yeah, okay,
- 25:50Speaker 2: I hear you. Well we should start you should start
- 25:53Speaker 2: doing glasshof full on Spotify.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Yea, yeah, yeah, definitely for a segment. But yeah, I'm
- 25:58Speaker 1: excited for our future and so grateful for everybody listening.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Hey, thank you so much.
- 26:02Speaker 1: We love it.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Stay bad, mate,
