Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: 16 play 10 minute.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Drive touchdown arizona gains just 44 yards after halftime just
- 0:06Speaker 2: 95 passing yards for the game 31-7 seahawks win on
- 0:09Speaker 2: a 24-0 second half seattle is now 2-0.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Since 1970, the NFL-AFL merger, 2-0 teams make the playoffs
- 0:29Speaker 1: about 67% of the time. Rookie running back Jadarian Price
- 0:33Speaker 1: left the game in the third quarter with a chest injury.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Coach Mike McDonald says x-rays at the stadium yesterday were
- 0:38Speaker 1: negative and, quote, we'll go from there. Could Sam Donald
- 0:41Speaker 1: practice and play this week? We'll talk in the show
- 0:43Speaker 1: about what I learned on the quarterback's injury this weekend.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Nicky Munwuri made his season debut yesterday. Nine snaps, this
- 0:50Speaker 1: night not practicing fully since June 8th. You'll hear my
- 0:53Speaker 1: conversation with him in the locker room at 11 a.m.
- 0:56Speaker 1: and what he said about why he had the surgery
- 0:58Speaker 1: in July and not before. A lot of you have
- 1:00Speaker 1: asked that. Also in the NFC West, Brock Purdy, 22 passing,
- 1:04Speaker 1: two touchdowns. The 49ers are 2-0. They smash the Dolphins 35-13.
- 1:07Speaker 1: The Rams host the Giants in Monday Night Football at
- 1:11Speaker 1: 5-15 right here on 93.3 KJR today. The next opponent
- 1:16Speaker 1: for the Seahawks are the Washington Commanders, and Jaden Daniels
- 1:18Speaker 1: dislocated his elbow. He's not going to be the starting quarterback,
- 1:21Speaker 1: it appears. Sunday when the Seahawks play in Washington. Commanders
- 1:25Speaker 1: lost at Dallas. Washington's 0-2. Looks like the Seahawks are
- 1:28Speaker 1: going to get Marcus Mariota for like the 105th time
- 1:32Speaker 1: in his career and Sunday in Landover, Maryland. Bears quarterback
- 1:35Speaker 1: Kalen Williams injured his knee, left the Bears 9-3 home
- 1:38Speaker 1: loss in the rain to the Vikings, but it looked
- 1:40Speaker 1: like it was worse. He got carted out, had a
- 1:41Speaker 1: towel over his head. Looked like it might be a
- 1:44Speaker 1: season-ending injury, but maybe not. As you heard here on
- 1:47Speaker 1: 93.3 KGR on Saturday, the Washington Huskies beat Eastern Washington,
- 1:50Speaker 1: but not by 43 points. So we got that one
- 1:53Speaker 1: right on Factor Fiction. UW won 48-16 to.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Go to 3-0.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Big game for DeMond Williams, the quarterback, 376 yards, four touchdowns.
- 2:01Speaker 1: This weekend, the Huskies begin Big Ten play by hosting
- 2:03Speaker 1: Minnesota at Husky Stadium. Washington State got its first win.
- 2:06Speaker 1: They beat Duquesne. Jessamyn McIntyre was on the sidelines of
- 2:10Speaker 1: Martin Stadium for that.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Those are some halftime adjustments we had going on.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Seems to be a theme this weekend. Mariners won two
- 2:18Speaker 1: of three at Colorado, but it doesn't matter. They host
- 2:20Speaker 1: the Trashcams for three beginning tomorrow. Doesn't matter either. Six
- 2:23Speaker 1: games left, and that doesn't matter either. 78-78, by the way,
- 2:27Speaker 1: leads the division, Texas. And the M's are still five back.
- 2:31Speaker 1: My gosh. Kraken won both their first two NHL preseason
- 2:35Speaker 1: games over the Canucks and last night over the Flames
- 2:37Speaker 1: in Calgary. Another exhibition Thursday at Climate Pledge Arena. And
- 2:40Speaker 1: then the season opens only ten days away, October 1st,
- 2:43Speaker 1: for the Kraken at Calgary. Saunders, another draw with a
- 2:46Speaker 1: goal in extra time. They tied it at Colorado. They
- 2:48Speaker 1: still haven't won, I think it's 13 MLS matches, an
- 2:50Speaker 1: ongoing franchise record, a winless streak. Storm lost for the
- 2:54Speaker 1: 35th time in 43 WNBA games at Las Vegas. That's
- 2:57Speaker 1: a league record for losses in a season. Final game
- 2:59Speaker 1: for the Storm Wednesday at Dallas. And the big high
- 3:02Speaker 1: school football games around the state this weekend included Puyallup
- 3:05Speaker 1: beating Lake Stevens in a 4A showdown, 43-42 in overtime.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And remember we talked to Anna Cordes' head coach and
- 3:12Speaker 1: we talked to Archbishop Murphy's head coach.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Which was a fabulous segment.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And the game was even better. Anna Cordes beat, number
- 3:20Speaker 1: three Anna Cordes beat number one State Champion Archbishop Murphy
- 3:24Speaker 1: 48-47 in three overtimes. Out on the peninsula, Peninsula High
- 3:29Speaker 1: School smashed Gig Harbor in the fishbowl 37-8. Now on
- 3:32Speaker 1: with the Monday show.
- 3:33Speaker 5: The countdown is on.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Here's... Down to Monday Night Football with Greg Bell.
- 3:39Speaker 6: He's going to go into the open field.
- 3:41Speaker 1: As we count you down to tonight's game at 515.
- 3:44Speaker 1: He'll coast in.
- 3:45Speaker 5: For the touchdown.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Brought to you by Frostbrew Coors Light. Cold as the Rockies.
- 3:52Speaker 7: On Sports Radio 93.3, KJR FM.
- 4:01Speaker 6: Good morning.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yes, it is Monday Night Football and KJR. The Giants
- 4:06Speaker 1: at the Rams. That's a 5-15 kickoff. Dave Dofty Moeller
- 4:10Speaker 1: and Dick Fain's show will lead you right into that
- 4:12Speaker 1: this afternoon. The NFL weekend continues on KJR this afternoon.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Good morning. Greg Bell and Jessamyn McIntyre with you as
- 4:19Speaker 1: we are every weekday, 10 a.m. to noon on 93.3 KJR.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But I'm not looking at Jessamyn now. I'm looking at
- 4:25Speaker 1: the back of.
- 4:26Speaker 4: I'm looking at a lonely studio. So give me those talkbacks, people.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Talkbacks.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Whenever I'm alone, I'm like, give me your voices, please.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Jessamyn's in the dark back at the Elliott Bay Studios
- 4:37Speaker 1: in Seattle. I'm in Phoenix looking at the back of
- 4:40Speaker 1: the Saddleback. What is that? That's Camelback, actually, in Scottsdale,
- 4:44Speaker 1: Phoenix area. It's one of those deals where either I
- 4:47Speaker 1: fly back as soon as the game ends last night,
- 4:49Speaker 1: which was a tight 8 o'clock fly, or I stay
- 4:52Speaker 1: over because if I left this morning, I wouldn't have
- 4:54Speaker 1: gotten home in time to do the show. So here
- 4:56Speaker 1: I am.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yes, it's quite the conundrum.
- 4:59Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 4: I understand.
- 5:01Speaker 8: Especially when you're scrambling to do so many things. Like
- 5:07Speaker 8: I flew out right after the show on Friday to
- 5:10Speaker 8: go over to Pullman and I flew back on Saturday
- 5:14Speaker 8: night so I could be at the Muckleshoot Casino yesterday.
- 5:17Speaker 8: And yeah, it is things that we do for the
- 5:20Speaker 8: love of the job.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So first of all, let's settle. How long is the flight, again,
- 5:25Speaker 1: from wheels up to wheels down to Spokane? 25 minutes?
- 5:28Speaker 4: Oh, wheels up, 45. But I went to Pullman directly.
- 5:32Speaker 8: So I would say wheels up, wheels down, but that
- 5:35Speaker 8: doesn't include all the time that it takes to travel.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Yes. But yes, it's a very pleasant flight with Alaska.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Yes.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yes, it is. And so you've got to tell us
- 5:46Speaker 1: about Muckles. Justin McIntyre hosts a Seahawk watch party. at
- 5:51Speaker 1: Muckleshoot Casino out in Auburn. I went to Muckles, we
- 5:54Speaker 1: called it Muckles way back when I was at Fort Lewis,
- 5:57Speaker 1: the lieutenants would go to Muckleshoot Casino.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Oh, you have a nickname for it. That's so nice.
- 6:01Speaker 1: It was back at the, man, this is like 1994, 95.
- 6:04Speaker 8: Wow.
- 6:04Speaker 1: They're an institution. Yeah. I was, I was a second
- 6:09Speaker 1: lieutenant at the time making no money. I mean like 25,
- 6:11Speaker 1: 30,000 a year. And, and, We went to Muckleshoot Casino,
- 6:16Speaker 1: and I don't gamble. I don't usually go to casinos,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and I don't bet much. So I wasn't betting. I
- 6:21Speaker 1: was just watching my buddies just getting trashed and losing
- 6:24Speaker 1: money at the table. And my roommate, Titus Rodriguez, second
- 6:29Speaker 1: lieutenant now in Tennessee, turns to me and goes, what
- 6:32Speaker 1: you come here for? And then the blackjack dealer goes,
- 6:35Speaker 1: what you come here for? Gamble, gamble. That became a
- 6:39Speaker 1: Muckleshoot joke. But tell us about Muckleshoot Casino and the
- 6:42Speaker 1: Seahawks watch party. You told me it was packed.
- 6:44Speaker 4: It's super fun.
- 6:45Speaker 8: And yes, it was really packed. Shout out to Kayla,
- 6:48Speaker 8: who runs the whole show there. Eddie McMillan was a
- 6:51Speaker 8: big part of it as well. But Thomas Rawls is
- 6:54Speaker 8: the star of the entire thing.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Thomas Rawls.
- 6:56Speaker 8: Yep.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Tell everybody about what Thomas Rawls is up to, a
- 6:59Speaker 1: former starting running back, undrafted rookie from Flint, Michigan, who
- 7:02Speaker 1: became the Seahawks' starting running back.
- 7:04Speaker 8: Yeah, he's just so fun, and I was actually pointing
- 7:08Speaker 8: this out. What we do is we don't interrupt the game.
- 7:13Speaker 8: People can come in and watch the entire game. The
- 7:16Speaker 8: audio's up. There's screens everywhere. One big one in the
- 7:19Speaker 8: middle of the Galaxy Bar. And, and people, there's great
- 7:24Speaker 8: seating and you can come, it's free to get in,
- 7:27Speaker 8: but they give away lazy boy chairs at the conclusion
- 7:30Speaker 8: of each game. And it's only for Seahawks away games,
- 7:33Speaker 8: just so you know. I will not be there for
- 7:36Speaker 8: Seahawks home games, but Thomas goes out into the crowd.
- 7:39Speaker 4: And I was.
- 7:40Speaker 8: Commenting on how unique it was to, you know, you
- 7:45Speaker 8: go to an event with an athlete and you might
- 7:47Speaker 8: get a picture for like 10 minutes.
- 7:49Speaker 4: There's a line. And if you don't make it, you
- 7:51Speaker 4: don't get it.
- 7:52Speaker 8: Thomas was out in the crowd just shouting people out
- 7:55Speaker 8: the whole time, taking pictures, signing autographs, signing jerseys. Chris
- 7:59Speaker 8: Carson even showed up. But that was for his buddy.
- 8:03Speaker 8: And I thought that was really cool. Obviously, Chris is
- 8:05Speaker 8: local now as he took the high school football coaching job.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah, at Redmond High School. He's assistant coach.
- 8:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 4: And so it was just a really, really warm event.
- 8:16Speaker 8: And I very much enjoyed everyone that I got to
- 8:19Speaker 8: talk to down there. It is a football loving crowd.
- 8:23Speaker 8: Everyone was super excited and they do a great job.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I really like it. Thomas Rall is one of my
- 8:28Speaker 1: favorite Seahawks to cover. He was so proud of where
- 8:30Speaker 1: he was from, Flint, Michigan.
- 8:32Speaker 7: Yes.
- 8:32Speaker 1: And all the problems that came from Flint and the
- 8:34Speaker 1: water crisis and how the government just ignored Flint during them.
- 8:37Speaker 1: They had lead in the water and people were being poisoned.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Kids were being poisoned and the government just turned the
- 8:43Speaker 1: other way and didn't help them. And there's a lot
- 8:46Speaker 1: of reasons for that. It doesn't take a brilliant scientist's
- 8:49Speaker 1: mind to figure out why that is. And Thomas Rawls
- 8:52Speaker 1: was very outspoken when using his platform while he was
- 8:54Speaker 1: a Seahawk talking about Flint, Michigan and the people of
- 8:57Speaker 1: Flint and the good people of Flint that had people
- 8:59Speaker 1: turn their backs on them when the car or the
- 9:01Speaker 1: automobile industry went down. Yeah, Thomas Rawls, great Seahawk.
- 9:06Speaker 4: He still got all the energy. I'll tell you that much.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Undrafted rookie becoming an NFL starter running back. On the
- 9:13Speaker 1: show today, we'll talk about how Sam Darnold cleared Drew
- 9:16Speaker 1: Locke's head this week, leading the Locke standout game yesterday
- 9:19Speaker 1: here in the desert. We'll talk with Nicky Manwari. You'll
- 9:22Speaker 1: hear some of my talk. Jessamyn said when I sent
- 9:24Speaker 1: her the audio that there's a lot of profanity in
- 9:27Speaker 1: the background from the rap music that was playing.
- 9:29Speaker 4: The music overpowered the interview. I will just say that.
- 9:32Speaker 8: But I did find a very pertinent question of yours
- 9:35Speaker 8: in it that we can air.
- 9:36Speaker 1: He talked to me about why he had the surgery
- 9:38Speaker 1: on his ankle in July. And a lot of you
- 9:40Speaker 1: asked why he didn't have it sooner, the ankle that
- 9:42Speaker 1: he sprained four days before the Super Bowl. He told
- 9:45Speaker 1: me yesterday what doctors told him about that surgery. And
- 9:48Speaker 1: where he goes from the nine snaps he had yesterday,
- 9:50Speaker 1: he thinks he's full go. He told me, I'm ready
- 9:54Speaker 1: to go. Full go every snap the rest of the
- 9:56Speaker 1: season after they limited him by design yesterday. You're going
- 10:00Speaker 1: to hear a 1025 from Drew Locke, the quarterback. You know,
- 10:03Speaker 1: he's the fourth highest quarterback in terms of completion percentage
- 10:07Speaker 1: in the league right now through two games.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Oh, I think his passer rating is even higher.
- 10:11Speaker 1: 72.9% completion percentage is what he's doing through two games.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Could Zach Charbonnet be coming back soon? Maybe on the
- 10:21Speaker 1: field this week? A new NFL rule might get Zach
- 10:24Speaker 1: Charbonnet back because the Seahawks think he's ahead of maybe
- 10:27Speaker 1: his schedule that he had even a month ago.
- 10:29Speaker 4: That's welcome news.
- 10:30Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Reconstructive knee surgery. I'll tell you what I learned this
- 10:33Speaker 1: weekend about Zach Charbonnet. See, if you listen to the
- 10:35Speaker 1: show and somebody's actually in the locker room, you might
- 10:37Speaker 1: get something out of it. That's why I come down
- 10:40Speaker 1: here on road games and such. At 1130, you'll read
- 10:43Speaker 1: back your text on the Coma Dodge text line 494-5111.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Or the talkback line. Of course, Jessamyn, you could just
- 10:50Speaker 1: put anything on that talkback line and Jessamyn's going to
- 10:52Speaker 1: play it.
- 10:52Speaker 9: All right.
- 10:52Speaker 4: I do have some discretion.
- 10:54Speaker 1: She does, actually.
- 10:56Speaker 4: But if you poop on me, I'll play it.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But don't do that. 11.35, Factor Fiction. Your chance to
- 11:04Speaker 1: win $ 1, 000 again this week from the Lucky Eagle Casino Resort.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I know I went one and two. I can't remember
- 11:11Speaker 1: what you did. Oh, you know what? Miss Steelers didn't
- 11:14Speaker 1: help me.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I got to look it up.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Montana didn't help me. Montana got waxed down in Corvallis
- 11:21Speaker 1: by Oregon State. But I knew the dogs, Huskies, wouldn't
- 11:24Speaker 1: cover 43, and they didn't. So we got that one.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I can't remember what you did, actually, now that I'm
- 11:30Speaker 1: thinking about it. Oh, yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Let's see. I was 1-1.
- 11:34Speaker 8: Because I picked when you were out.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah, the show was 2-3.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I took the Niners minus 10.5 against Miami.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And then I.
- 11:45Speaker 8: Join Jake Philly minus seven at Tennessee.
- 11:49Speaker 4: And I was wrong on that one.
- 11:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Eagles won in the last minute.
- 11:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Touchdown in the final seconds, 24-20 over Tennessee.
- 11:57Speaker 4: I still would have been wrong.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Most people would. And Furness will join us at 1145
- 12:02Speaker 1: to talk about Kraken and what he saw this weekend
- 12:06Speaker 1: heading into his show, 12-3. And then Dave Softy-Mower and
- 12:09Speaker 1: Dick Fain take you into Monday Night Football Giants and
- 12:11Speaker 1: Rams at 515 here on 93.3 KJR. So coming up
- 12:15Speaker 1: next on 49451, the first question I have to ask
- 12:18Speaker 1: you is, how do you feel about the Seahawks now?
- 12:21Speaker 1: I mean, I can tell you the confidence with this
- 12:24Speaker 1: team in that locker room. They are nonplussed by whatever
- 12:27Speaker 1: happens early in games. They just 10-0 down to the
- 12:30Speaker 1: Patriots third quarter, no big deal. 7-7 with the Cardinals
- 12:34Speaker 1: and Jacoby Brissett, no big deal. There's a confidence now
- 12:37Speaker 1: this team is, Mike McDonald has instilled first a culture
- 12:40Speaker 1: of togetherness, Togetherness brought winning, winning a Super Bowl, and
- 12:43Speaker 1: now the winning has brought this confidence that doesn't matter.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Backup running back, fourth string tailback, Nicky Maury not playing,
- 12:51Speaker 1: Bo Stevens and Christian Haynes splitting time at guard, no problem.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Anthony Bradford did not play yesterday. He had a hip
- 12:58Speaker 1: injury on top of a knee injury. He got the
- 13:00Speaker 1: hip in practice last week, Mike McDonald said. But it's
- 13:04Speaker 1: clear that Bradford's still going to be the starting right
- 13:06Speaker 1: guard when he comes back. Whether that's Washington on Sunday
- 13:09Speaker 1: or not, we'll find out. Christian Haynes made his first
- 13:11Speaker 1: NFL start, and then the Seahawks used that as an
- 13:13Speaker 1: opportunity to get Bo Stevens some time because when Bradford
- 13:16Speaker 1: comes back, Stevens won't play. So they used yesterday to
- 13:20Speaker 1: alternate about every two drives. Christian Haynes, the third-year draft
- 13:24Speaker 1: pick from a few years ago, and Bo Stevens, the
- 13:27Speaker 1: rookie fifth-round pick from Iowa, they went about two drives each.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I will say, Jess, do you remember the fourth-and-one play
- 13:32Speaker 1: where they put seven offensive linemen on the field and
- 13:34Speaker 1: they put Ola with Timmy at fullback like they did
- 13:36Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl?
- 13:37Speaker 9: Yep, yep.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Well, it failed, of course, and we can talk about
- 13:40Speaker 1: that play call if you want, but they ran four
- 13:43Speaker 1: straight times on first and goal from the sixth, and
- 13:45Speaker 1: a lot of people were upset about that. The reason
- 13:47Speaker 1: they did that, Mike McDonnell didn't say this after the game,
- 13:49Speaker 1: but I know it. He wants the mentality of attacking
- 13:53Speaker 1: on offense with physicality. They ended up running for 160-plus
- 13:57Speaker 1: yards yesterday, but down near the goal line, he wants
- 13:59Speaker 1: to pound and pound and just put their will on
- 14:03Speaker 1: top of other teams in the goal line, and that's
- 14:05Speaker 1: what they were doing there. It failed on the fourth
- 14:07Speaker 1: and one. But on that fourth and one, Bo Stevens
- 14:10Speaker 1: at right guard pinned his guy across the center. And
- 14:16Speaker 1: I thought it was going to be a touchdown because
- 14:17Speaker 1: I had binoculars on Stevens and the play went right
- 14:19Speaker 1: off of him. But there was a hesitation on Gray
- 14:22Speaker 1: Zabel coming across, pulling, didn't quite get the block he needed.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And then Emmanuel Wilson didn't quite read the block right.
- 14:29Speaker 1: He ran right into a Cardinal in the hole. Ola Timmy,
- 14:33Speaker 1: by the way, the fullback, got stood up in the hole,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and that's really what blew up the play. But Bo Stevens,
- 14:37Speaker 1: my point is, Bo Stevens really did a job on
- 14:39Speaker 1: that fourth and one play on the film study they
- 14:41Speaker 1: were doing today. Bo Stevens is going to get a
- 14:43Speaker 1: big plus for that. Here's the story of yesterday's game
- 14:46Speaker 1: in audio montage form.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Drew Locke going deep down the middle. Towards the sideline,
- 14:52Speaker 2: it's a Jigma. Jackson Smith and Jigma will take it
- 14:56Speaker 2: down the sideline, and that is a Seahawks touchdown. Love
- 15:00Speaker 2: with a spin move. Oh, the Seahawks were there as
- 15:03Speaker 2: soon as he got that football. That's got him with
- 15:05Speaker 2: her soon. Another tackle for a loss by the Seattle
- 15:08Speaker 2: defense on third down.
- 15:09Speaker 6: We're set. And he'll go down. Inside the 40 of
- 15:13Speaker 6: the Cardinals.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Out here in the back.
- 15:16Speaker 6: The pitch to Bryce. And he's got room. And a
- 15:18Speaker 6: hard hit, but he keeps going.
- 15:20Speaker 2: And he's going to pick up a first down. What
- 15:22Speaker 2: a bounce back after having that football swiped away. He's
- 15:26Speaker 2: had a great first half. As always from the tight
- 15:29Speaker 2: end spot, McBride.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Here is Rasheed on the return. And he's up, falls out.
- 15:35Speaker 6: Knocked loose. Seahawks have it. Picked up on the run.
- 15:40Speaker 6: And taking it downfield. Shidari Price. Turns the corner.
- 15:49Speaker 8: Price.
- 15:50Speaker 6: Inside the 10-yard line. It'll be first and goal, Seattle.
- 15:55Speaker 1: One-on-one out here.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Floating for the end zone. The catch made. Jackson Smith
- 15:59Speaker 6: and Jigba.
- 16:00Speaker 2: His second touchdown of the day.
- 16:04Speaker 6: Extra pressure.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Brissette is floating one.
- 16:07Speaker 2: And nobody there except the Seahawks defender did.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Julian Love come up with the pick. The official says yes.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Drew Locke. Fires. Catch at midfield.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Made. Jump back. Jackson Smith and Jigba. The end zone.
- 16:23Speaker 6: It's another touchdown. He's got three today. And Jackson, Smith,
- 16:27Speaker 6: and Jemba have another one.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Third and two.
- 16:32Speaker 6: They're set. He held it too long and he's sacked
- 16:35Speaker 6: at the 35-yard line.
- 16:37Speaker 8: Jaron Reed.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Barter keeps the snap.
- 16:40Speaker 5: A.J.
- 16:40Speaker 6: Barter has a Seahawk touchdown. How do you like that?
- 16:46Speaker 6: There's a smile. He's having fun.
- 16:48Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 6: And so is he.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I do want to.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Say that They get that 12th straight win and 10th
- 16:54Speaker 2: straight head-to-head over the Cardinals.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Seahawks win yesterday, as told by Chris Myers on Fox
- 17:08Speaker 1: Sports Television. Yeah, 12th straight win and 10th straight win
- 17:12Speaker 1: of the Cardinals. That's their longest winning streak over division
- 17:15Speaker 1: opponents since the 2005 Mike Holmgren first Super Bowl ever Seahawks.
- 17:20Speaker 1: started a 10-game winning streak over the St. Louis Rams
- 17:23Speaker 1: that ran through 2009. So it's been a while since
- 17:26Speaker 1: they've dominated somebody in their division like this. And the Cardinals,
- 17:30Speaker 1: I mean, they hung with them for the first half,
- 17:34Speaker 1: mainly because Seahawks, they were starting to get problems on
- 17:37Speaker 1: offense again, and the fumble by Jadarian Price was the, that,
- 17:40Speaker 1: by the way, was the first fumble since last December
- 17:43Speaker 1: in Carolina. They had gone five games to Seahawks without
- 17:46Speaker 1: giving the ball up at all. And Jessamyn, that's probably
- 17:48Speaker 1: the biggest thing Drew Locke has done through these two games. Right.
- 17:53Speaker 1: He hasn't turned the ball over. That was the number
- 17:55Speaker 1: one thing he talked about last week. And he did again.
- 17:58Speaker 1: He didn't turn the ball over. And if your backup
- 18:01Speaker 1: quarterback isn't turning the ball over with this defense, they're
- 18:05Speaker 1: going to win. And that's where they are right now.
- 18:07Speaker 1: They have an offense and a quarterback. It doesn't matter
- 18:10Speaker 1: what they're really doing offensively for most of the game.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jigby still gets the preponderance of, targets
- 18:16Speaker 1: the preponderance of yards yet defenses can't stop him right
- 18:21Speaker 1: yes yesterday the cardinals tried to shell cover him when
- 18:25Speaker 1: he was at x when he was on the line
- 18:26Speaker 1: of scrimmage outside wide they had a safety usually it
- 18:30Speaker 1: was buda baker over the top in fact it was
- 18:32Speaker 1: shell coverage that he ran right past for the 82
- 18:34Speaker 1: yard touchdown on the second play but they kept basically
- 18:37Speaker 1: double covering him with a safety over the top and
- 18:39Speaker 1: a corner underneath but then when brian flurry started moving
- 18:43Speaker 1: him around to the Z receiver, to the slot, in
- 18:48Speaker 1: motion right before the snap. The Cardinals didn't adjust to that.
- 18:51Speaker 1: They didn't have shell coverage moving. When Smith and Jigba
- 18:55Speaker 1: was not in X, they weren't in shell on him.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And that's where Brian Fleury made the adjustment. Mike McDonald
- 19:01Speaker 1: also credited Jake Peets, the past game coordinator and quarterbacks coach,
- 19:04Speaker 1: for doing it, for moving Smith and Jigba out of
- 19:07Speaker 1: the X place where the Cardinals were cloud covering him.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And then he went off. He had 102. but it
- 19:13Speaker 1: ended up being with 155 yards on 11 targets, nine receptions.
- 19:17Speaker 1: His first three touchdown game of his career. The second
- 19:20Speaker 1: touchdown was on a zero blitz that Drew Locke said
- 19:23Speaker 1: that he didn't expect the Cardinals to bring. And then
- 19:26Speaker 1: when he brought it, he got the look they wanted
- 19:28Speaker 1: with no safety in the.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Middle of the field.
- 19:31Speaker 1: That was just beautiful. Yeah, that was. It was a
- 19:34Speaker 1: pretty play. And against a blitz, a zero blitz with
- 19:37Speaker 1: no safety in the middle of the field. But The
- 19:39Speaker 1: Cardinals did not adjust, and Brian Fleury outcoached the Cardinals
- 19:44Speaker 1: with Jackson Smith and Jigba yesterday by moving him around
- 19:47Speaker 1: and getting out of the shell coverage. Drew Locke talked
- 19:51Speaker 1: about that yesterday. He talked about it a lot more,
- 19:53Speaker 1: including how Sam Darnold helped him yesterday. When we come back,
- 19:56Speaker 1: you'll hear from the Seahawks quarterback who's come off the
- 19:59Speaker 1: bench and replaced a starter and gone 2-0, and the
- 20:02Speaker 1: Seahawks are 2-0. 11 o'clock, you'll hear from Nick Emanwuri
- 20:06Speaker 1: and what he told me about his injury, his surgery.
- 20:09Speaker 1: His ankle surgery and where he thinks he goes from
- 20:11Speaker 1: here after making his season debut yesterday. We will read
- 20:14Speaker 1: back your text at 1130. Keep them coming. 1135 is
- 20:17Speaker 1: Factor Fiction. Your chance to win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky
- 20:20Speaker 1: Eagle Casino Resort. All that's coming up on a football Monday.
- 20:24Speaker 1: A Monday night football here on Giants and Rams at
- 20:26Speaker 1: 515 on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 20:40Speaker 7: Now back to Countdown to Monday Night Football with Greg Bell.
- 20:44Speaker 7: Brought to you by Frostbrood Coors Light. Cold as the Rockies.
- 20:48Speaker 7: On Sports Radio 93.3, AJR FM.
- 20:55Speaker 6: Welcome back.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Greg Bell is in Phoenix. I'm here and still in
- 20:59Speaker 1: Phoenix at iHeart Studios after the Seahawks winning here in
- 21:02Speaker 1: the desert. 31-7 yesterday. 12th straight win franchise record. Jessamyn
- 21:06Speaker 1: McIntyre back in her Elliott Bay studios in Seattle. You
- 21:09Speaker 1: know who had two touchdowns yesterday in the NFL? Cody White. Awesome.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Remember him? Yes. Clint Kubiak and the Raiders picked him
- 21:18Speaker 1: up off waivers when the Seahawks tried to slide him
- 21:20Speaker 1: onto the practice squad. Actually, he got released because he
- 21:22Speaker 1: had enough service time. He was a free agent. And
- 21:24Speaker 1: instead of taking the Seahawks practice squad spot, he took
- 21:27Speaker 1: Clint Kubiak's Raiders practice squad spot. Yesterday, he had two touchdowns.
- 21:31Speaker 1: The Raiders are 2-0.
- 21:32Speaker 4: I always love a success story.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I like him, too. His dad. I can tell you
- 21:38Speaker 1: the whole story, but we don't have time. We'll go
- 21:39Speaker 1: to Drew Locke instead. Drew Locke yesterday, 2-0 now after
- 21:44Speaker 1: the injury to Sam Darnold. Five plays into the season.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Another stellar day for Locke. Didn't turn the ball over.
- 21:50Speaker 1: 19 of 26, 235 yards. The three touchdown passes to
- 21:55Speaker 1: Smith and Jigby. Took one sock, but most importantly, did
- 21:57Speaker 1: not turn the ball over for the second straight week.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Here's your quarterback, Drew Locke, yesterday after he beat the Cardinals. Okay.
- 22:06Speaker 5: We're back.
- 22:08Speaker 6: How'd that feel?
- 22:09Speaker 8: Awesome.
- 22:10Speaker 5: It felt really good. Yeah, it was a complete game,
- 22:15Speaker 5: I'd say, from both sides of the ball. Special teams
- 22:17Speaker 5: as well. Our defense is very good.
- 22:24Speaker 9: Giving us the ball in some advantageous situations.
- 22:27Speaker 5: And honestly, that first quarter playing out so weird. I
- 22:29Speaker 5: think there was like five plays on offense. You know, them.
- 22:36Speaker 9: stopping them, us getting the ball, us scoring quick, them
- 22:38Speaker 9: having to go back out there, then us going three
- 22:40Speaker 9: and out, then them having to go back out there
- 22:41Speaker 9: and just kept chugging away.
- 22:44Speaker 5: Hats off to them for the way they played.
- 22:45Speaker 9: Talk about the O-line for a sec. Holy cow. It's
- 22:52Speaker 9: awesome playing behind those guys. They're an awesome group, an
- 22:55Speaker 9: awesome unit. Picked me up all week, talked through everything
- 23:00Speaker 9: all week. Man, they were so fun to work with.
- 23:04Speaker 9: To be able to go on that drive that they did,
- 23:07Speaker 9: where all I had to do is say, set hut
- 23:10Speaker 9: and hand it off to E-man who did a phenomenal
- 23:13Speaker 9: job on that drive too.
- 23:14Speaker 5: That was just awesome. Just awesome football by those guys.
- 23:17Speaker 5: To close it, to close the game out like that.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Just like you said, just hand the ball off, pound it.
- 23:21Speaker 5: Just how satisfying is that as a team? Oh, it's awesome.
- 23:24Speaker 9: I feel, I mean, I feel like, I feel like
- 23:26Speaker 9: it's something Mike, um, talks about often. We talk about
- 23:29Speaker 9: pushing piles often, um, finishing, going forward, never backwards. Um,
- 23:35Speaker 9: I honestly feel like you could look at every play
- 23:37Speaker 9: in that drive and say that we were trying to
- 23:40Speaker 9: do all of those and probably succeeding almost. Now, pile
- 23:42Speaker 9: pushes don't always happen, but they were going to try,
- 23:45Speaker 9: and I know they were.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Awesome job.
- 23:48Speaker 9: Even Jax on that play, a little screen to the right,
- 23:51Speaker 9: making a guy miss, getting vertical and stretching for the
- 23:53Speaker 9: first down to continue that drive was huge.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The first touchdown, did you notice how quickly he shook
- 24:00Speaker 1: that guy? Defending with the fake? How surprised were you?
- 24:03Speaker 9: I was a little surprised. How I thought he was
- 24:06Speaker 9: going to do it didn't happen. But that's the beauty
- 24:12Speaker 9: of playing with him. He's going to find ways to
- 24:16Speaker 9: get open. It might not be the most conventional, but
- 24:20Speaker 9: that's what makes him a ball player and that's what
- 24:21Speaker 9: makes him one of the best receivers, offensive player of
- 24:24Speaker 9: the year last year.
- 24:25Speaker 5: That's just what he is, what he does, man. It's
- 24:26Speaker 5: so fun to play with.
- 24:27Speaker 9: Which is why I think I probably could have gotten
- 24:31Speaker 9: it out a step sooner, but sometimes you got to
- 24:34Speaker 9: see how it comes out of it.
- 24:35Speaker 10: Was that supposed to be a go route the whole time,
- 24:37Speaker 10: or you shook him so much.
- 24:38Speaker 5: It became one? No, it was not a go route
- 24:40Speaker 5: the whole time, but he managed to make it one.
- 24:45Speaker 1: How did you think he was going to, you thought
- 24:47Speaker 1: he was going to take longer on?
- 24:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I never expected him to inside release the corner.
- 24:52Speaker 9: That's just not a typical thing, but man, if he's
- 24:56Speaker 9: going to play that far outside and You want to
- 24:58Speaker 9: get vertical on him, go ahead.
- 24:59Speaker 5: That was cool.
- 25:00Speaker 10: Walk us through the other two touchdowns. I mean, this
- 25:02Speaker 10: is a fun day for you. Let's go through touchdown
- 25:04Speaker 10: number two to Jackson. What are you thinking at the
- 25:08Speaker 10: line scrimmage? And then you snap the ball. Walk us
- 25:10Speaker 10: through all that.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Yeah, shoot.
- 25:12Speaker 5: We had the motion, pushing a guy out wide to
- 25:15Speaker 5: the right.
- 25:16Speaker 9: They were showing me shell, which is, like, disappointing because, like,
- 25:19Speaker 9: I wanted to go to the route that I ended
- 25:21Speaker 9: up doing.
- 25:23Speaker 5: But, man, I lift my leg.
- 25:25Speaker 9: Both safeties kind of started creeping down Ended up bringing
- 25:29Speaker 9: zero on us with a couple poppers. And, you know,
- 25:32Speaker 9: it's my job to get the ball out on zero, obviously,
- 25:35Speaker 9: because we just don't have enough to block. But when
- 25:37Speaker 9: they pop, it then becomes my job to avoid the poppers.
- 25:41Speaker 9: Jacks ran a fantastic route.
- 25:43Speaker 1: We're through.
- 25:45Speaker 5: Try to go over.
- 25:46Speaker 9: Maybe to the side. But Jacks ran a great route.
- 25:51Speaker 9: And they ended up giving us.
- 25:53Speaker 5: the look that I was personally hoping for and it
- 25:56Speaker 5: worked out.
- 25:57Speaker 11: When you have worked to get to this moment and
- 26:00Speaker 11: you're thrown to the Offense Player of the Year and
- 26:02Speaker 11: you have this defense, all those circumstances, just like how
- 26:05Speaker 11: much joy are you playing with?
- 26:06Speaker 1: It looked like you had a fun time today.
- 26:08Speaker 11: How much fun was this and how does that compare
- 26:11Speaker 11: to maybe some previous stops in your career?
- 26:13Speaker 5: Yeah, today was a whole lot of fun.
- 26:15Speaker 9: I think it was just accumulation of obviously the work
- 26:19Speaker 9: put in throughout the week, everybody adjusting myself adjusting, coaches adjusting,
- 26:25Speaker 9: the line adjusting my cadence, receivers, the football. It was
- 26:30Speaker 9: just a fantastic job by everybody to move on quickly
- 26:35Speaker 9: and be ready for this week. Coach Fleury and Coach
- 26:39Speaker 9: Pete's getting me ready.
- 26:40Speaker 5: For this game.
- 26:41Speaker 9: Jay and Sam helping me out all week. It was
- 26:45Speaker 9: a lot of fun working with everybody in that building.
- 26:46Speaker 9: I talk about how much I love the building and
- 26:49Speaker 9: the reason I come back. It kind of just played
- 26:51Speaker 9: out all week. Feeling love from everybody. how skilled, you know,
- 26:55Speaker 9: the skilled guys are, how awesome the O-line is up front.
- 26:58Speaker 9: It's just a great group of guys and just got
- 27:00Speaker 9: to keep playing good football.
- 27:01Speaker 12: When you know at the start of the week that
- 27:03Speaker 12: you're going to start, obviously you're getting the reps and
- 27:06Speaker 12: practice that you didn't get last week, but do you
- 27:07Speaker 12: have to find any sort of human nature to like
- 27:10Speaker 12: overthink things and get in your head and put too
- 27:12Speaker 12: much pressure, like knowing the whole week you're going to start?
- 27:14Speaker 13: Yeah, I think, I.
- 27:16Speaker 9: Think you can definitely step out of like normal routines,
- 27:22Speaker 9: look for a couple extra things and, Um, I definitely
- 27:25Speaker 9: did that this week. You know, I watched a little
- 27:28Speaker 9: more film, studied a little bit, looked at a couple
- 27:31Speaker 9: of things that maybe I wouldn't look at during the week,
- 27:33Speaker 9: but I just felt like it was necessary.
- 27:34Speaker 5: It was things that I needed a little clarity on.
- 27:37Speaker 9: Um, and it was a lot of fun going through
- 27:40Speaker 9: that process.
- 27:41Speaker 6: It really was.
- 27:42Speaker 5: I wouldn't say it was like a negative thing.
- 27:45Speaker 9: Um, it's just mandatory things that you have to do
- 27:48Speaker 9: when you're ready to step into the spot and try
- 27:51Speaker 9: to go lead a team for four quarters. It's just,
- 27:53Speaker 9: It's necessary, and it needed to be done.
- 27:57Speaker 14: What were you thinking when Rasheed fumbled the kickoff and
- 28:00Speaker 14: then Chas picks it up?
- 28:01Speaker 5: Yeah, it kind.
- 28:04Speaker 9: Of was one of those turn and walk the other way,
- 28:06Speaker 9: and then our sideline kind of gets excited. I'm like,
- 28:08Speaker 9: oh my gosh, Chas picked it up. Great field position,
- 28:12Speaker 9: capitalized on it, and it's a heck of a play
- 28:15Speaker 9: by him, former quarterback.
- 28:17Speaker 10: Drew, guys with backups who have clearly starter traits like yourself,
- 28:22Speaker 10: sometimes it takes a while to, whether it's an emotional
- 28:25Speaker 10: maturity where you learn something about the game, how to
- 28:29Speaker 10: play the game, whatever.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Now you're in year eight.
- 28:32Speaker 10: What do you know now that you maybe didn't know
- 28:35Speaker 10: in year two, three, four, and what have you?
- 28:38Speaker 9: Yeah, I think it's, I think you hit the nail
- 28:40Speaker 9: on the head with just emotional maturity mixed with like
- 28:44Speaker 9: learning a lot of football and the longer you're in it,
- 28:46Speaker 9: the more you learn. I'd like to say the better
- 28:49Speaker 9: you get to go out and play. But, Having the
- 28:52Speaker 9: emotional maturity from where I was those three years in
- 28:57Speaker 9: Denver to where we are now, I'm absolutely a different person.
- 29:03Speaker 5: Husband, father to two babies, lost my father in the
- 29:06Speaker 5: last year.
- 29:07Speaker 9: You just feel like you feel yourself grow up off
- 29:10Speaker 9: the field and me personally can feel myself grow on
- 29:15Speaker 9: the football field from it and just become a man,
- 29:19Speaker 9: so to say.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You said Sam helped you. In particular, anything that he
- 29:25Speaker 1: helped you?
- 29:25Speaker 5: Yeah, we had an ACT walkthrough. This was Thursday.
- 29:31Speaker 9: And it was third down days, pressure days, heating us
- 29:36Speaker 9: up in these walkthroughs, trying to pick up these blitzes,
- 29:38Speaker 9: flip protections, throw hots. and uh i was swimming a
- 29:42Speaker 9: little bit and i just went up to him after
- 29:44Speaker 9: i'm like sam can you meet me upstairs and talk
- 29:48Speaker 9: me through some of these protections some more i came
- 29:51Speaker 9: to the media with you all ran from the stand
- 29:55Speaker 9: up there as he's waiting and uh went through it
- 29:59Speaker 9: and it drastically helped um hearing it from coach hearing
- 30:04Speaker 9: it from Sam hearing from Jay me going home studying
- 30:07Speaker 9: it wrapping their whole head around it and uh being
- 30:09Speaker 9: able to come out and play well.
- 30:11Speaker 14: How I mean Sam willingness to do that is that
- 30:14Speaker 14: every quarterback in the NFL would do that or is
- 30:16Speaker 14: Sam rare that he would want to you would.
- 30:19Speaker 9: Like to think that all quarterback rooms would do that
- 30:22Speaker 9: but Sam is a special breed of guy um I
- 30:25Speaker 9: feel like it's been fun being with him if he
- 30:28Speaker 9: would have asked me that I would have went up
- 30:30Speaker 9: there and done the same thing. And then now flipping it,
- 30:34Speaker 9: allowing him to kind of return that favor to me,
- 30:36Speaker 9: it's been awesome.
- 30:38Speaker 5: I really appreciate him for everything he's done.
- 30:39Speaker 14: Do you think because he's been a backup in his
- 30:41Speaker 14: career too, he maybe appreciates what you go through?
- 30:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he definitely understands. You know, standing back
- 30:48Speaker 5: there watching.
- 30:48Speaker 9: And learning, being ready for whenever that happens to be
- 30:53Speaker 9: able to go play again. I definitely think he appreciates
- 30:55Speaker 9: it and knows the life of it.
- 30:59Speaker 1: The things that they.
- 31:00Speaker 14: Were throwing at you in practice when those came up
- 31:03Speaker 14: in this game, how do you feel like you handled them?
- 31:05Speaker 5: Great, great. Early in the week, not so great. By Sunday,
- 31:10Speaker 5: not too bad.
- 31:11Speaker 9: You know, that's the progression you want to make every week.
- 31:15Speaker 9: Make the mistakes early. Have them right by game day.
- 31:18Speaker 9: And I feel like I affect this group. this group
- 31:20Speaker 9: did that this, this, uh, this Sunday.
- 31:22Speaker 10: Those times where you got JSN at X and, and,
- 31:25Speaker 10: and they're, they're clouding him and you're like, okay, it's great.
- 31:28Speaker 1: He's taken two, but are we wasting them at X?
- 31:31Speaker 10: Do you know, do we want to put them inside
- 31:32Speaker 10: somewhere we can get more of the single?
- 31:34Speaker 1: Like, like how, how does that go for you? Like,
- 31:36Speaker 1: like particularly the first time.
- 31:37Speaker 9: Yeah. I, uh, you know, it doesn't, I don't think
- 31:42Speaker 9: too much about it except for like when we're up
- 31:44Speaker 9: on the line of scrimmage and I know when it's
- 31:45Speaker 9: a three by one, he's the X and they're clouding them.
- 31:47Speaker 5: I will see that and feel that.
- 31:48Speaker 9: But, I think our coaches have done a good job
- 31:50Speaker 9: of moving him around, getting him in different places, different motions,
- 31:54Speaker 9: different shifts.
- 31:56Speaker 5: They've just done a fantastic job.
- 31:58Speaker 9: I mean, we don't come out and play as well
- 32:00Speaker 9: as we did without a great plan in place.
- 32:03Speaker 14: Your last TD, it seemed like you had kind of
- 32:05Speaker 14: a pretty emphatic celebration there, kind of looking to the
- 32:07Speaker 14: sidelines and everything. I don't know, was there something going
- 32:10Speaker 14: on there with that?
- 32:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it was just, you.
- 32:13Speaker 9: Know, that one felt really good. It was, in my opinion,
- 32:18Speaker 9: a pivotal time. Get us to, I think it was
- 32:22Speaker 9: 24 at that time, make it a three score instead
- 32:24Speaker 9: of a two score. It was just a lot of
- 32:28Speaker 9: emotion from getting that drive done and being upset about
- 32:32Speaker 9: the first one that didn't end up in points and
- 32:35Speaker 9: then not allowing that to happen the rest.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Of the game.
- 32:54Speaker 1: For sure. Even talking at length about the ins and
- 32:59Speaker 1: outs of quarterbacking with Drew Locke. You heard Hugh Millen talk.
- 33:02Speaker 1: He was sitting in the press box with me yesterday.
- 33:03Speaker 1: He exclaimed out loud when Jackson Smith and Jigba put
- 33:07Speaker 1: the head fake on the cornerback.
- 33:09Speaker 6: Oh, my.
- 33:11Speaker 1: As the play was going on. You rarely see NFL
- 33:14Speaker 1: players get that open that easily. I mean, just a
- 33:17Speaker 1: head fake. And I know Smith and Jigba is the
- 33:19Speaker 1: best at what he does in the world right now.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Offensive player of the year. But still, Will Johnson, one
- 33:25Speaker 1: of the best defensive players Arizona has, you can't be
- 33:29Speaker 1: faked five yards off the play, off the route, on
- 33:32Speaker 1: a head fake. That was, man. And then Buda Baker
- 33:35Speaker 1: couldn't catch him, and he went right by him. Buda Baker,
- 33:38Speaker 1: of course, the former Bellevue High School and Washington Huskies star,
- 33:41Speaker 1: and Smith and Jigba ran right past him, too. But
- 33:44Speaker 1: back to Drew Locke, Jessamyn, we all worried about, okay,
- 33:46Speaker 1: Sam Darnold goes down, and we talked about at the
- 33:48Speaker 1: beginning of the season how when NFL teams lose starting quarterbacks,
- 33:51Speaker 1: you're usually cooked. not these guys. And if, as long
- 33:56Speaker 1: as the quarterback, even if Jalen Milrow came in there
- 34:00Speaker 1: and didn't turn the ball over, this team would win
- 34:02Speaker 1: right now with the defense, the way they're playing. But
- 34:04Speaker 1: then drew lock on top of it. You mentioned the
- 34:06Speaker 1: passer rating completion percentage among the best of the league
- 34:10Speaker 1: through two games. They're not just having him manage games.
- 34:13Speaker 1: They're having him throw the ball down the field and,
- 34:17Speaker 1: Do what a starting quarterback does. And he was one
- 34:19Speaker 1: in Denver. It's paying off.
- 34:21Speaker 8: Well, we were talking off the air about both him
- 34:23Speaker 8: and Sam Darnold, you know, just like the interesting career
- 34:27Speaker 8: paths that they've both taken. And the fact that they
- 34:30Speaker 8: can both relate on so many levels, I think is
- 34:32Speaker 8: so valuable with Sam being sidelined for the time being.
- 34:36Speaker 8: He was very, very present on that sideline. I think
- 34:39Speaker 8: he got more airtime than Drew.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Yeah, he was smiling pretty big on that first touchdown
- 34:43Speaker 1: when he came over and patted him on. That was
- 34:45Speaker 1: the lead to my story in the News Tribune. about
- 34:47Speaker 1: the scene of Locke coming over and Darnold meeting him
- 34:50Speaker 1: and greeting him and slapping him on the chest and
- 34:52Speaker 1: on the back as well. And then you heard Drew
- 34:54Speaker 1: Locke talk about how Sam Darnold fixed him in reading
- 34:58Speaker 1: and calling out pressure and protection changes at the line
- 35:01Speaker 1: by going up and study it with him. He said
- 35:03Speaker 1: that doesn't happen in every quarterback room. You wish it would,
- 35:06Speaker 1: but Sam Darnold's a different breed of guy in the
- 35:09Speaker 1: words of Drew Locke. You also heard it mentioned that
- 35:13Speaker 1: he lost his father in the last year. We talked
- 35:15Speaker 1: about how the Seahawks offered him a contract right after
- 35:17Speaker 1: his father passed away and that the familiarity and the
- 35:20Speaker 1: fact that he loved his time in Seattle was a
- 35:22Speaker 1: reason he signed back for two years. But Jess, he
- 35:25Speaker 1: made maybe tens of millions of dollars yesterday because there
- 35:29Speaker 1: is going to be another NFL team that's going to
- 35:31Speaker 1: bid for Drew Locke after this season.
- 35:33Speaker 8: Yeah, and good for him, man. Just good for him.
- 35:36Speaker 8: I mean, the same thing happened to Sam Darnold. You know,
- 35:39Speaker 8: and I am just so happy for him. I'm so
- 35:43Speaker 8: happy for him. And the fact that he does not
- 35:46Speaker 8: feel the pressure and he gets to run a game.
- 35:49Speaker 4: He actually gets to run a game.
- 35:51Speaker 8: I thought that there might be a situation where he
- 35:55Speaker 8: was only protecting the ball. But you see that 82
- 35:58Speaker 8: yard touchdown to JSN.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, good. This guy, they are letting Locke cook.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Yeah, although, again, that was supposed to be a shorter route.
- 36:08Speaker 1: It was. Smith and Jigley just turned into a go
- 36:10Speaker 1: route because of his head fake. But, yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Yes, but that head fake.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Up next, is Zach Charbonnet coming back? I learned something
- 36:21Speaker 1: over the weekend about Zach Charbonnet that he may practice
- 36:26Speaker 1: this week. He still can't play until at least four
- 36:28Speaker 1: games because he's on the physically unable to perform list.
- 36:30Speaker 1: But we'll tell you what the developments with Zach Charbonnet
- 36:33Speaker 1: were over the weekend. 11 o'clock, you'll hear from Nicky
- 36:36Speaker 1: Manwari after his season debut. I talked to him in
- 36:38Speaker 1: the locker room yesterday here in Arizona. 11.35, Factor Fiction,
- 36:42Speaker 1: your chance to win $ 1, 000 from Lucky Eagle Casino and Resort.
- 36:46Speaker 1: All that's coming up from Phoenix on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 36:56Speaker 7: Now back to Countdown to Monday Night Football with Greg Bell.
- 37:00Speaker 7: Brought to you by Frostbrood Coors Light. Cold as the Rockies.
- 37:05Speaker 7: On Sports Radio 93.3, AJR FM.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Yes, Countdown to Monday Night Kickoff. Monday night game tonight,
- 37:15Speaker 1: the Giants at the Rams of some interest here in
- 37:19Speaker 1: Seattle in the NFC West. The Rams after getting smoked
- 37:22Speaker 1: over in Australia last back home now, smoked by the
- 37:26Speaker 1: 49ers who are 2-0. Cardinals are 1-1 after what the
- 37:29Speaker 1: Seahawks did to them yesterday. Seahawks 2-0. Rams trying to
- 37:33Speaker 1: get to 1-1 at home tonight against the Giants. Seahawks
- 37:36Speaker 1: have the Commanders in Washington, well, Landover, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C.
- 37:40Speaker 1: at 10 a.m. our time on Sunday. Commanders are 0-2
- 37:44Speaker 1: and lost their starting quarterback, Jaden Daniels. I'll be in Washington.
- 37:49Speaker 1: We'll do the show probably from somewhere D.C. or somewhere
- 37:53Speaker 1: around the Beltway next Monday.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Molly, you can go hang out where we did the
- 37:56Speaker 4: Army-Navy game. Ah, that's true.
- 37:58Speaker 1: You can go to Arlington National Cemetery.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Wow, that's right.
- 38:03Speaker 1: That was quite a setting.
- 38:04Speaker 4: What was the beautiful grave?
- 38:07Speaker 1: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Unknown.
- 38:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't want to say forgotten. The Unknown. Thank you.
- 38:12Speaker 1: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Yeah, there's a guard
- 38:14Speaker 1: on all day, every day, 24 hours a day, 365
- 38:17Speaker 1: days a year at Arlington National Cemetery. Zach Charbonnet, remember him?
- 38:23Speaker 1: 12 rushing touchdowns last year. Tied Marshawn Lynch for the
- 38:27Speaker 1: most the Seahawks have had in a generation in one season. Well,
- 38:30Speaker 1: then he injured his knee in January in the divisional
- 38:33Speaker 1: playoff game against the 49ers. He had reconstructive knee surgery
- 38:37Speaker 1: in February. He is on the physically unable to perform list.
- 38:41Speaker 1: He has not practiced since January before the playoff game
- 38:43Speaker 1: in which he got injured. A new NFL rule for
- 38:46Speaker 1: this season is the players on the pup list, the
- 38:49Speaker 1: physically unable to perform list, can return to practice following
- 38:53Speaker 1: his team's second game of the season. Of course, the
- 38:56Speaker 1: Seahawks just played their second game yesterday. So on Friday,
- 39:00Speaker 1: Mike McDonald said that they are close to determining what
- 39:06Speaker 1: day Zach Charbonnet will come back. He could be eligible
- 39:09Speaker 1: to practice starting on Wednesday. Now, he still can't play
- 39:13Speaker 1: until the Seahawks have played four games. He has to
- 39:15Speaker 1: miss at least four games. So he would miss. Of course,
- 39:19Speaker 1: he won't play. This weekend in Washington, D.C. He won't
- 39:22Speaker 1: play next weekend when the Los Angeles Chargers, next next weekend,
- 39:26Speaker 1: come on whatever that is, October the 4th or whatever.
- 39:29Speaker 1: in Lumen Field. But then he could play in the
- 39:33Speaker 1: fifth game of the season, which, guess what, is against
- 39:35Speaker 1: the 49ers, the same team that he got injured on
- 39:39Speaker 1: in the divisional playoff game in mid-January. But Jessamyn, we've
- 39:43Speaker 1: talked about Zach Charbonnet maybe being ahead of the usual
- 39:46Speaker 1: curve for reconstructive knee surgery and recoveries. And he was
- 39:50Speaker 1: running around on the field in June in minicamp and
- 39:53Speaker 1: surprised us. I've seen him through the facility doing things.
- 39:58Speaker 1: He's still on the pup list, still hasn't been on
- 39:59Speaker 1: the field to practice, but now he's eligible to. And
- 40:03Speaker 1: Jadarian Price with a chest injury. The x-rays were negative yesterday,
- 40:07Speaker 1: but had to leave the game after three quarters. They
- 40:08Speaker 1: found somebody else yesterday, Emmanuel Wilson, E-man, you heard.
- 40:12Speaker 4: How about that?
- 40:14Speaker 1: Yeah, how about that, huh? 90 yards rushing yesterday. for
- 40:18Speaker 1: the guy who's basically the fourth string tailback, who was
- 40:21Speaker 1: supposed to be the short yardage back. But then yesterday
- 40:24Speaker 1: when Price goes down after 13 carries and 52 yards,
- 40:27Speaker 1: Wilson ends up with 92 yards on 21 carries and
- 40:31Speaker 1: some open field running as well. He proved yesterday, Emmanuel
- 40:35Speaker 1: Wilson did, that he can carry some load here. But man,
- 40:39Speaker 1: if they can get Charbonnet back with Price and now
- 40:41Speaker 1: Wilson emerging, now you've got options in the run game
- 40:46Speaker 1: and in the pass-catch game. George Helani uh, yesterday, still
- 40:50Speaker 1: mostly a third down back. Alani, by the way, he
- 40:52Speaker 1: had one catch for two yards and ran the ball
- 40:54Speaker 1: four times for 13 yards yesterday. He left the game
- 40:57Speaker 1: because one of the red hat concussion monitors in the
- 41:00Speaker 1: press box called down to the Seahawks sideline and had
- 41:03Speaker 1: Alani checked out for a concussion. You never know. Yeah.
- 41:07Speaker 1: And that's what their job is. If they see somebody
- 41:09Speaker 1: who gets hit really hard, it was on end of
- 41:11Speaker 1: a running play that the, to go get him checked out, uh,
- 41:17Speaker 1: Brandon Peely, the nose tackle and special teams player, left
- 41:20Speaker 1: the game yesterday with a concussion, did not return. He
- 41:25Speaker 1: and the chest injury for Jadarian Price were the only injuries,
- 41:28Speaker 1: and neither of them sound major. It's easy for me
- 41:30Speaker 1: to say I don't have a concussion, but Peely with
- 41:33Speaker 1: the concussion and Jadarian Price with the chest injury with
- 41:37Speaker 1: x-rays negative were the two injuries of note from yesterday's game.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Of course, Anthony Bradford didn't play, but this would be
- 41:44Speaker 1: A surprise development if he returns Charbonnet to practice this
- 41:48Speaker 1: week and then could be on track to return for
- 41:51Speaker 1: week five. That would be, I mean, we talked about this.
- 41:54Speaker 1: It would probably be a couple weeks he's going to
- 41:56Speaker 1: need to start practicing and seeing how this knee responds
- 41:59Speaker 1: to being off for this long. There's no way he
- 42:01Speaker 1: would be able to play anyway after a couple days
- 42:05Speaker 1: of practice. So we'll see. But that's an option that
- 42:08Speaker 1: before this weekend we really didn't think was possible here
- 42:11Speaker 1: for another month or so.
- 42:14Speaker 8: Well, I mean, it's encouraging. It's just the rule changes things,
- 42:19Speaker 8: but I just want to know how healthy he is
- 42:21Speaker 8: before he gets back, you know?
- 42:22Speaker 1: They'll give him ample opportunity to prove that, I'm sure, right?
- 42:26Speaker 8: They have to, and just the way that they have
- 42:28Speaker 8: treated injuries and easing people back in, especially in a
- 42:32Speaker 8: winning situation where they are, then they're at a good spot,
- 42:36Speaker 8: and I don't see him getting rushed back.
- 42:38Speaker 1: About that, Jessamyn, why would you rush Sam Darnold back
- 42:42Speaker 1: right now? There's talk that Darnold could practice this week,
- 42:49Speaker 1: and I heard that this weekend here in Arizona. Mike
- 42:52Speaker 1: McDonald said on his coach's show this morning that there
- 42:54Speaker 1: is a possibility that Darnold practices this week. I've been
- 42:58Speaker 1: told Darnold's expecting to begin practicing again on Wednesday, but
- 43:03Speaker 1: I don't see the need to play him at 0-2 Washington,
- 43:06Speaker 1: who's going to be starting a backup quarterback. I know
- 43:08Speaker 1: Marcus Mariota's a veteran, but You would think the Seahawks
- 43:12Speaker 1: would feel pretty good about saying, hey, Sam, take another
- 43:14Speaker 1: week off. Press that and get even stronger. But Drew Locke,
- 43:19Speaker 1: stay on this heater he's on. And with our defense
- 43:22Speaker 1: and playing a backup quarterback, I think we can handle this.
- 43:25Speaker 1: So we'll see if Sam Darnold comes back. But Mike
- 43:27Speaker 1: McDonald saying on his coach's show this morning that's a possibility.
- 43:31Speaker 1: I've been told that Darnold is on track to practice Wednesday,
- 43:34Speaker 1: but I don't know that he should be rushed back
- 43:37Speaker 1: to play the commanders in D.C., On Sunday, up next,
- 43:40Speaker 1: Nick Emanwuri. I talked to him in the locker room
- 43:42Speaker 1: here in Arizona yesterday after his season debut, what he
- 43:45Speaker 1: had to say about his surgery, why he had it,
- 43:47Speaker 1: when he had it in July, and where he goes
- 43:49Speaker 1: from here after his nine snaps unexpectedly yesterday. 1135 Factor Fiction,
- 43:54Speaker 1: your chance to win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky Eagle Casino Resort.
- 43:57Speaker 1: All that's coming up from Phoenix on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 44:14Speaker 7: Now, from the Star Runnels Sports Desk, your 93.3 KJR
- 44:18Speaker 7: FM Sports Headlines.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Good morning from Phoenix. Headlines are brought to you by
- 44:23Speaker 1: Frostbird Coors Light. As cold as the Rockies, Seahawks are
- 44:26Speaker 1: in the best group I've seen this team since the
- 44:27Speaker 1: Legion of Boom days. Maybe even better than that. 12th
- 44:30Speaker 1: straight victory yesterday set a franchise record. Second play of
- 44:34Speaker 1: the game, Jackson Smith and Jigba, 82 yards and a
- 44:36Speaker 1: touchdown with a head fake of Arizona quarterback Will Johnson
- 44:40Speaker 1: that put him in the sideline. 7-7 slog into the
- 44:43Speaker 1: third quarter yesterday. No problem. Backup quarterback Drew Locke threw
- 44:46Speaker 1: two more touchdowns in the second half to Jackson Smith
- 44:50Speaker 1: and Jigba. His first three touchdown receiving game.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Of his career.
- 44:55Speaker 1: 16 play, 10-minute drive. Emmanuel Wilson, the fourth string running back,
- 45:00Speaker 1: 92 yards on 21 carries. 31-7, a runaway win for
- 45:05Speaker 1: the Seahawks in the desert. 10th straight win over Arizona.
- 45:08Speaker 1: That's their Longest winning streak over a division foe since
- 45:11Speaker 1: the 2005-09 Seahawks over the St. Louis Rams. Mike Holmgren's
- 45:16Speaker 1: Seahawks over the St. Louis Rams. That's how long it's
- 45:18Speaker 1: been since they've won 10 in a row. Seahawks now 2-0.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, 2-0 teams make the playoffs
- 45:26Speaker 1: about 67% of the time. Rookie running back Jadarian Price
- 45:29Speaker 1: left the game in the third quarter with a chest injury.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Coach Mike McDonald said x-rays at the stadium were negative and, quote,
- 45:34Speaker 1: will go from there, unquote. This morning, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams...
- 45:39Speaker 1: Got news that he avoided any major injury after getting
- 45:41Speaker 1: carted out of the game yesterday. They lost 9-3 at
- 45:44Speaker 1: home to the Vikings. Test confirmed today that there's just
- 45:47Speaker 1: no major injury to the hamstring, and not a knee
- 45:50Speaker 1: injury or worse. The team, the Bears, not even rolling
- 45:53Speaker 1: them out for next Monday night's game against the Eagles,
- 45:55Speaker 1: sources told ESPN and other outlets. Could Sam Donald practice
- 45:59Speaker 1: and play this week? Mike McDonald said... This morning on
- 46:02Speaker 1: his coach's show, there's a possibility Darnold plays on Wednesday.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I'm told that he's on track to practice on Wednesday.
- 46:09Speaker 4: How much caginess do you think that is?
- 46:11Speaker 1: A little bit. Is this gamesmanship? A little bit. With
- 46:17Speaker 1: the starting quarterback availability, you're going to take that right
- 46:19Speaker 1: up to kickoff. They want to make it look like
- 46:21Speaker 1: he practiced all week very fine and everything's great. He'll
- 46:25Speaker 1: be listed as questionable so the commanders can keep guessing.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Nicky Mowary made his season debut nine snaps yesterday despite
- 46:31Speaker 1: not practicing fully since June. In a minute, you're going
- 46:34Speaker 1: to hear my conversation in the locker room with him.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Also in the NFC West yesterday, Brock Purdy, 20 of
- 46:38Speaker 1: 22 passing with two touchdowns. The 49ers smashed the Dolphins
- 46:41Speaker 1: 35-13 to go 2-0 also. Rams hosted Giants on Monday
- 46:45Speaker 1: Night Football 5-15 here on KJR. Jaden Daniels dislocated his
- 46:50Speaker 1: elbow in the commander's loss at Dallas that dropped Washington
- 46:52Speaker 1: to 0-2. It's looking like the Seahawks are going to
- 46:54Speaker 1: get Marcus Mariota Sunday in Landover, Maryland. Also in the NFL...
- 46:59Speaker 1: You have our friend Cody White for the Raiders and
- 47:01Speaker 1: Clint Kubiak. Two touchdown catches. The Raiders are 2-0. How
- 47:05Speaker 1: about that? As you heard here on KJR Saturday, the
- 47:08Speaker 1: Washington Huskies beat the Eastern Washington Eags, but not by
- 47:11Speaker 1: 43 points. They won by 32. 48-16 to go 3-0
- 47:15Speaker 1: for UW. Big game for DeMond Williams. 376 yards and
- 47:19Speaker 1: four touchdowns for the quarterback. This weekend, the Huskies begin
- 47:21Speaker 1: Big Ten play. They're hosting Minnesota at Husky Stadium. The
- 47:24Speaker 1: game begins at 8 p.m. Saturday right here. On KJR,
- 47:29Speaker 1: the Mariners won two out of three at Colorado, but
- 47:30Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. They host the Trash Cams for three
- 47:32Speaker 1: beginning tomorrow at the Yard and Soto, but it doesn't matter.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Six games left, and that doesn't matter either. Kraken won
- 47:39Speaker 1: both their first two NHL preseason games over the weekend
- 47:42Speaker 1: over the Canucks on Saturday and last night over the
- 47:44Speaker 1: Flames in Calgary. They have another exhibition Thursday at Climate
- 47:47Speaker 1: Pledge Arena. The season opener from the NHL is suddenly
- 47:50Speaker 1: just 10 days away, October 1 for the Kraken at Calgary.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Another draw for the Sounders. Didn't win again. That's an extended...
- 47:57Speaker 1: their club record MLS winless streak, but they did get
- 48:00Speaker 1: a goal and extra time to tie it Saturday at Colorado.
- 48:02Speaker 1: The Storm lost for the 35th time in 43 WNBA
- 48:05Speaker 1: games at Las Vegas. That's a league record for losses
- 48:08Speaker 1: in a season. The Storm's final game is Wednesday at Dallas.
- 48:13Speaker 1: The big high school football around the state this weekend
- 48:15Speaker 1: included Puyallup beating Lake Stevens in overtime 43-42 in a
- 48:19Speaker 1: battle of the top teams in 4A. The showcase game
- 48:23Speaker 1: we had on Friday, Anacortes and Defending 2A state champion
- 48:26Speaker 1: Art Bishop Murphy went to three overtimes in Anacortes. Anacortes
- 48:30Speaker 1: beat Archbishop Murphy 48-47. Peninsula smashed Gig Harbor in the
- 48:34Speaker 1: Fish Bowl. It's 37-8. It's a fun name. The Fish Bowl.
- 48:39Speaker 9: Yeah, I like it.
- 48:40Speaker 1: The tradition of that. That's pretty cool. Yesterday here in Phoenix,
- 48:44Speaker 1: I was surprised getting to the stadium about an hour
- 48:46Speaker 1: and a half before and getting the inactive list and
- 48:49Speaker 1: didn't see Nick Emanuari on it. The safety had not
- 48:53Speaker 1: fully practiced since Tuesday. june he had arthroscopic ankle surgery
- 48:57Speaker 1: in july of course he did not practice at all
- 49:00Speaker 1: during training camp he was on the physically unable to
- 49:02Speaker 1: perform less for some of it then he started practicing
- 49:04Speaker 1: a little bit at the end of august into the
- 49:07Speaker 1: beginning of september but not fully he was listed as
- 49:10Speaker 1: questionable to play yesterday yet he was active and he
- 49:12Speaker 1: played he came in with about three minutes left in
- 49:15Speaker 1: the first quarter for the first time he played six
- 49:18Speaker 1: snaps in the first half he played nine snaps in total.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Six of those nine snaps were on the line of scrimmage.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Mike McDonald had him playing as a defensive end. He
- 49:28Speaker 1: had him rushing the quarterback on his third play in
- 49:30Speaker 1: a goal line situation. Drake Thomas ended up running down
- 49:33Speaker 1: Jacoby Brissett before Eamon Worry got there. But it was
- 49:37Speaker 1: definitely a pitch count situation. So yesterday in the locker room,
- 49:41Speaker 1: I talked to Nicky Manwari for about five minutes, but
- 49:43Speaker 1: only about 30 seconds of his arable because of the music.
- 49:45Speaker 1: It was because of the music. And not only the
- 49:48Speaker 1: loudness of the bass music banging in the visitor's locker
- 49:50Speaker 1: room at Glendale, but the content of that music is
- 49:54Speaker 1: not suitable for the FCC.
- 49:56Speaker 8: I did try to cut it out, but it cut
- 49:59Speaker 8: out the content of the conversation. So you can, we'll
- 50:02Speaker 8: play this clip and then you can relay the rest
- 50:05Speaker 8: of the conversation.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Okay. Here's Nicky Manwari from Phoenix yesterday. I might have
- 50:09Speaker 1: been mistaken, but I thought you were taking the field
- 50:11Speaker 1: after the opening kickoff. Were you thinking you were starting
- 50:14Speaker 1: and they pulled you off?
- 50:15Speaker 15: I think they just wanted me to be out there
- 50:17Speaker 15: in the huddle just to figure out what personnel we're
- 50:19Speaker 15: going to go to.
- 50:20Speaker 12: We're going to go take a look at the contactors.
- 50:23Speaker 1: So they're just telling me to.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Go out there every time just to make sure.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Mike mentioned bringing you on the blitz the one time
- 50:29Speaker 1: off the end.
- 50:30Speaker 15: Was that good to be able to do a play
- 50:32Speaker 15: like that?
- 50:32Speaker 1: It was fun to be had, talked about this week.
- 50:35Speaker 13: Lining me up at the end and blitzing.
- 50:38Speaker 1: And I had pretty good success with that.
- 50:39Speaker 4: You know, they're trying to figure out how to deal
- 50:43Speaker 4: with the chippers.
- 50:44Speaker 11: We're calling it double team, but tight end and the tackle.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Okay, Greg, tell us what we actually heard there. Because
- 50:52Speaker 4: that was the cleanest cut I could get.
- 50:54Speaker 1: As you could tell, going into a locker room after
- 50:57Speaker 1: a Seahawk win is an adventure.
- 50:59Speaker 4: Been there. It's not like it.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Trying to get interviews that you can actually not only
- 51:05Speaker 1: just air but listen to and use for your stories
- 51:08Speaker 1: is difficult, to say the least.
- 51:10Speaker 8: There's a lot of parsing that comes through.
- 51:12Speaker 1: They don't turn down the music. The speakers are all
- 51:16Speaker 1: over the place. And, yeah, people are like, why is
- 51:19Speaker 1: it so loud? Well, we walk into their house, their rules.
- 51:24Speaker 1: And when they win, it bangs. You can hear it
- 51:26Speaker 1: from all the way down the hallway of stadiums. But
- 51:30Speaker 1: what Eamon Worry was saying yesterday, and it happened a
- 51:32Speaker 1: few times, he was on the field during the timeouts
- 51:36Speaker 1: that none of all could see back home on television,
- 51:39Speaker 1: of course, during the commercials. He was on the field
- 51:41Speaker 1: at the beginning of the defensive drives. And what Mike
- 51:44Speaker 1: McDonald was doing was some gamesmanship. He was trying to
- 51:46Speaker 1: keep the Cardinals and Mike LaFleur guessing on whether Eamon
- 51:49Speaker 1: Worry was going to be in and what kind of
- 51:51Speaker 1: sub-package the Seahawks might come in. Remember, the Seahawks had
- 51:54Speaker 1: do sub packages more than anybody in the league last year. Well,
- 51:57Speaker 1: not so much this year because Nick even worry has
- 51:59Speaker 1: not been available, but even worry was on the field
- 52:02Speaker 1: three different times at the start of drives. And then
- 52:03Speaker 1: right before the snap, he would come off the field.
- 52:07Speaker 1: And at times it was, I was wondering what he
- 52:10Speaker 1: was doing. And then I realized, Oh, McDonald's just trying
- 52:12Speaker 1: to fool with the Cardinals a little bit later on
- 52:15Speaker 1: in that interview, Mike or Nick even worry said that the,
- 52:18Speaker 1: Doctors told him when he had the arthroscopic surgery that
- 52:22Speaker 1: he would return by week two. So to him, he's
- 52:24Speaker 1: right on schedule. He said that he had the surgery
- 52:26Speaker 1: in July and not earlier because up until July, his
- 52:30Speaker 1: ankle seemed fine. It was doing okay. But he was
- 52:32Speaker 1: also just in shorts and t-shirts doing off-season work. And
- 52:36Speaker 1: then when he started training to try to get geared
- 52:37Speaker 1: up for training camp beginning at the end of July,
- 52:40Speaker 1: he said that some days the ankle felt 100% great
- 52:43Speaker 1: and then other days it felt terrible. And he was
- 52:46Speaker 1: a little startled by how inconsistently the ankle was feeling
- 52:49Speaker 1: day in and day out. So he went to the Seahawks,
- 52:51Speaker 1: and the Seahawks said, well, let's have arthroscopic surgery, non-invasive,
- 52:55Speaker 1: and do it now so that you can come back
- 52:57Speaker 1: in September. So that's when he agreed to do that.
- 52:59Speaker 1: So I asked him yesterday, where do you go from here?
- 53:01Speaker 1: Nine snaps yesterday. McDonald said that Ema Warrior could have
- 53:04Speaker 1: played more. They just didn't want to. And he said, oh,
- 53:07Speaker 1: I'm playing full go. I expect to be on the
- 53:09Speaker 1: field the entire season, the rest of the season. Now
- 53:12Speaker 1: we'll see if McDonald unleashes him to do that Washington game.
- 53:15Speaker 1: on Sunday. But this is Mike McDonald yesterday talking a
- 53:19Speaker 1: little bit about Nick Emanwuri, a lot of bit about
- 53:22Speaker 1: how he loved the 12s presence, the Seahawks fans presence
- 53:25Speaker 1: in Arizona. Yet again, probably about 40 or 50% of
- 53:29Speaker 1: the stadium were Seahawks fans. And by the end, they
- 53:30Speaker 1: were all Seahawks fans because they were the only ones
- 53:32Speaker 1: left in cheering. This was Mike McDonald after the Seahawks
- 53:36Speaker 1: club record 12th consecutive victory yesterday.
- 53:38Speaker 3: Really proud of our team. Shout out to the 12s.
- 53:41Speaker 3: What a great showing by the 12s. I think really incredible.
- 53:44Speaker 3: I mean, I really never cease to be amazed by
- 53:47Speaker 3: how hard we show up in droves. It really helped
- 53:52Speaker 3: us today. It provided a lot of great energy, especially
- 53:53Speaker 3: in the second half. They were on silent cadence in
- 53:56Speaker 3: the gun, which was really cool. Shout out to them.
- 53:59Speaker 3: Our challenge to our team was to stack plays and
- 54:01Speaker 3: really take our game to another level. I think we
- 54:04Speaker 3: did that today. The great news is I think there's
- 54:07Speaker 3: still a lot of room for improvement situationally. The guys
- 54:10Speaker 3: will be the first to admit that. Loved how we
- 54:12Speaker 3: closed the game out. Just really Really proud of the effort,
- 54:15Speaker 3: all four quarters, how we played in the second half,
- 54:16Speaker 3: how we stuck together. Really all three phases, coaching, make adjustments,
- 54:21Speaker 3: they had a good game plan. They got to some
- 54:23Speaker 3: things in the first half that we weren't prepared for,
- 54:26Speaker 3: but we made great adjustments and the guys did a
- 54:29Speaker 3: great job, so really proud of our team.
- 54:31Speaker 15: Three or four first downs after the touchdown, what allowed
- 54:34Speaker 15: the defense to really lock in after that score?
- 54:37Speaker 3: We had some uncharacteristic communication in Not issues, but we
- 54:42Speaker 3: just weren't ahead of plays as much as we should
- 54:44Speaker 3: have been. So I think it was just a matter
- 54:47Speaker 3: of taking a deep breath and realigning and then just
- 54:51Speaker 3: keep playing. We made a couple adjustments in terms of
- 54:55Speaker 3: setting the front, things like that. They ran a run
- 54:58Speaker 3: that they hadn't shown yet, so we had to adjust
- 55:01Speaker 3: to that. But other than that, keep finding solutions and
- 55:04Speaker 3: guys kept playing.
- 55:05Speaker 1: How big of a boost was the play Serrat made?
- 55:08Speaker 3: Yeah, great play by Chaz. I saw the ball out,
- 55:11Speaker 3: and then, you know, you're thinking about we're up on defense,
- 55:13Speaker 3: and all of a sudden he's carrying it down the sideline.
- 55:15Speaker 3: So Chaz is a great player and took advantage of
- 55:19Speaker 3: his off.
- 55:19Speaker 5: That was awesome.
- 55:21Speaker 1: So the gym had just told us, Mike, that Brian
- 55:23Speaker 1: Fleury credited him for moving him around and getting away
- 55:26Speaker 1: from cloud coverage.
- 55:27Speaker 15: How big of that, and how has Brian Fleury climbed
- 55:30Speaker 15: onto that just so early?
- 55:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought our offensive staff did a tremendous job.
- 55:35Speaker 3: Brian included how he's calling it. But to me, that
- 55:38Speaker 3: shows you that we're clicking as an operation. Jake Pieces,
- 55:44Speaker 3: there was a shout-out for that as well, our past
- 55:45Speaker 3: game coordinator. Jax, for his being able to, I mean,
- 55:49Speaker 3: it's easy to say, hey, we'll move you around, but
- 55:53Speaker 3: that's changing positions, that's understanding alignments, that's a lot of
- 55:57Speaker 3: work to go into, a lot of brain power to
- 56:00Speaker 3: kind of be able to get that done. So shout-out
- 56:02Speaker 3: to those guys.
- 56:02Speaker 15: A lot of people talk about their backup quarterback being
- 56:06Speaker 15: a starting quality player. It seemed like Drew was making
- 56:08Speaker 15: some pretty high-level throws today. What did you see from him?
- 56:11Speaker 3: Yeah, really proud of Drew, really happy for him. I mean,
- 56:14Speaker 3: we're on record how we feel about him, so he
- 56:16Speaker 3: just backed that up today. But the 12 was one thing,
- 56:19Speaker 3: everybody having each other's back. And, man, he just couldn't
- 56:23Speaker 3: be happier for the guy.
- 56:24Speaker 1: We just love him.
- 56:25Speaker 3: And all the things we said about throughout the week,
- 56:27Speaker 3: I mean, we weren't– that was real. That was from
- 56:29Speaker 3: the heart. And really proud of the way he played today.
- 56:32Speaker 3: He did a tremendous job. Managed the clock. I think
- 56:34Speaker 3: we only had one operation penalty today. uh, really one,
- 56:37Speaker 3: maybe one offensive penalty total. I'm not sure, but just
- 56:40Speaker 3: the operation improved drastically and drew a lot, deserves a
- 56:42Speaker 3: lot of credit for that. I thought he was, you know,
- 56:46Speaker 3: aggressive when he needed to be and took care of
- 56:48Speaker 3: the ball when he needed to be. I just did
- 56:49Speaker 3: a great job.
- 56:50Speaker 14: When you ran the ball down to that last drive,
- 56:53Speaker 14: Emmanuel Wilson running the way.
- 56:55Speaker 1: He was, what'd you think of finishing that way?
- 56:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Happy, uh, happy for E-man. He was tired there. We
- 56:59Speaker 3: took a timeout so he could catch his breath. We
- 57:01Speaker 3: were down to one back, but, um, Offensive line got
- 57:05Speaker 3: a game ball today. JV broke it down, which is awesome.
- 57:07Speaker 3: I mean, that's how we want to close games out,
- 57:10Speaker 3: you know. I mean, that's Seahawk football right there. That's
- 57:13Speaker 3: how we want to play. And really proud of our team,
- 57:16Speaker 3: you know, pushing piles, playing through the echo of the whistle,
- 57:20Speaker 3: playing physically, identifying the front. I mean, just there's a
- 57:23Speaker 3: lot of great stuff there, playing together, and really proud
- 57:28Speaker 3: of how we closed the game out. Outside that run,
- 57:30Speaker 3: that second-to-last run, that was kind of crappy.
- 57:32Speaker 1: How was Jadarian Price doing?
- 57:34Speaker 3: X-rays came back negative, so we'll take it from there.
- 57:38Speaker 1: You said down to one right?
- 57:40Speaker 3: They were looking at George, I think. They called down
- 57:43Speaker 3: from one of his runs, so we were down to
- 57:46Speaker 3: Emmanuel there on the last drive. George came back.
- 57:49Speaker 1: He's fine. Another game with an interception for Julian.
- 57:52Speaker 5: He was limited with injury last year to the eight games.
- 57:54Speaker 13: When you guys have him healthy, just how much does
- 57:56Speaker 13: he benefit this secondary?
- 57:58Speaker 5: Julian is an elite.
- 58:03Speaker 3: Safety in our league he really he can do everything
- 58:06Speaker 3: he can play man-to-man he can play zone disguise he
- 58:09Speaker 3: attacks the ball he's a great tackler um he patrols
- 58:13Speaker 3: it but i mean there's a lot of stuff going
- 58:14Speaker 3: on our secondary he makes it seem easy in terms
- 58:17Speaker 3: of making the calls um really happy for him you
- 58:20Speaker 3: know he's he's had some some things earlier in the
- 58:23Speaker 3: season but he's done a great job taking care of
- 58:24Speaker 3: his body and how he's trained um great play with
- 58:27Speaker 3: anticipation on that i mean he's a post safety on
- 58:29Speaker 3: that play make a play on the sideline as a
- 58:32Speaker 3: post safety is On a go ball is some high-powered stuff.
- 58:35Speaker 15: There was a play in the first half where it
- 58:37Speaker 15: was still 7-7. I think it was second and one.
- 58:40Speaker 15: And Drake Thomas had a four-yard tackle for loss that
- 58:42Speaker 15: ended up turning into no points after you guys.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Had that turnover. Talk about that play.
- 58:47Speaker 3: That was a great play. Actually, I screwed us up
- 58:49Speaker 3: on that. We were in the wrong front. And that's
- 58:52Speaker 3: the type of player Drake is. He makes things right
- 58:54Speaker 3: in real time. And, I mean, that is some rare,
- 58:58Speaker 3: rare stuff that he was able to do on that play.
- 59:01Speaker 3: He made the front right. So I didn't look like
- 59:03Speaker 3: an idiot, and then played with anticipation, pulled the pin.
- 59:05Speaker 6: Made the play.
- 59:06Speaker 3: So that was a tremendous play.
- 59:08Speaker 1: What if he corrected it, like got you guys into
- 59:10Speaker 1: the front?
- 59:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, he fixed it. I did not feel
- 59:13Speaker 3: good after I said what I said.
- 59:16Speaker 14: What did you think of Nick Amadori and how you
- 59:18Speaker 14: were using him?
- 59:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it was great. We had a plan for him
- 59:22Speaker 3: to come back. He was able to play more plays,
- 59:25Speaker 3: but the way we wanted to play him I think
- 59:28Speaker 3: it came out to like, what was it, six or
- 59:29Speaker 3: eight plays. So it was great for him to get
- 59:32Speaker 3: the confidence back, get him moving. Got a couple of
- 59:34Speaker 3: rushes in, which was cool. So we should be really
- 59:37Speaker 3: accelerating in the next week.
- 59:38Speaker 10: Mike, obviously you could talk to Brian Flory throughout the game,
- 59:42Speaker 10: but at halftime on a 7-7, what was the most
- 59:45Speaker 10: important thing that you wanted to.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Impart to him?
- 59:49Speaker 3: Well, I didn't have to tell him anything. I thought, yeah,
- 59:51Speaker 3: we were, I thought they made, You could tell they
- 59:54Speaker 3: were making adjustments. We went to our openers back in
- 59:56Speaker 3: our second half. You could see them talking through it.
- 59:57Speaker 3: And our message to our team was like, hey, really
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: the whole message going into the week was how can
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: we as a collective group stack plays between phases? And
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: we really weren't able to kind of get to that
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: momentum in the first half. And so I thought we
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: all kind of came together in that moment and really
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: proud of our team for kind of picking each phase
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: up and grabbing the momentum of the game and really
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: closing it out.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: So that was awesome.
- 1:00:21Speaker 15: You guys only had a couple blitzes in the first half,
- 1:00:23Speaker 15: but had a lot more in the second. Was that
- 1:00:25Speaker 15: part of the game plan, or did you guys see
- 1:00:26Speaker 15: something you adjusted to?
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I wouldn't say part of the game plan, but I
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: would say how we decided we wanted to start the
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: game was the way we started it. Our coaches did
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: a tremendous job of finding solutions based off of what
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: we thought they were doing on third down. Our staff
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: deserves a lot of credit.
- 1:00:47Speaker 9: To say about jacks but just the three touchdowns yeah
- 1:00:50Speaker 9: i write them off.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: Like six stats before giving a game ball i'm not
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: really sure what they are but it was all good
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: um he's just he's just a tremendous player i mean
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: and talking about like high leverage situations four point plays
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: i mean really both of those touchdown catches really helped
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: put the game away what a tremendous tremendous plays by
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: drew as well i think it was hot on one
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: of them and then you know getting to him in
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: the back of the end zone was awesome too so
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: um That's what we expect from Jax. That's how good
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: he is. That's the kind of expectations he deserves.
- 1:01:24Speaker 13: Mike, do you have an early read on the plans.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: For Sam this week?
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: No.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: We're optimistic.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: I think there's a chance that he comes back and
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: practices at some point. The timetable has shifted quite drastically, frankly,
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: in 10 days or whatever.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: We've got.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Three more days you know we have 30 of that
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: time to kind of see where it's going between now
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: and and wednesday so.
- 1:01:53Speaker 14: Shifted in the sense of he's ahead of where you
- 1:01:55Speaker 14: yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:01:57Speaker 11: You're obviously going to get sam back but just to
- 1:01:59Speaker 11: know that you have drew and you know who he
- 1:02:01Speaker 11: is and he's put it on paper and all that
- 1:02:02Speaker 11: stuff what kind of security does that give you to
- 1:02:04Speaker 11: know that there's two different guys that you don't have
- 1:02:06Speaker 11: to sacrifice anything you can win you know you.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Can do what you did today with.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: I don't think i don't think anything shifts i mean
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: uh If Sam can play, he's going to play. And
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: if Sam can't play, then Drew will play. So I
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: think it's pretty simple.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Is the possibility still Darnold plays in Washington next week?
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: Bro, I mean.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: I guess the possibility is.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll say it's possible.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 1:02:32Speaker 10: It seemed like Bursette was somewhat eager to get to
- 1:02:35Speaker 10: the checkdowns, and of course you're making those decisions.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: But how do you talk to your underneath coverage?
- 1:02:40Speaker 10: You say, hey, look, I know the most important thing
- 1:02:42Speaker 10: is behind you, but he's going to be getting in
- 1:02:46Speaker 10: front of you.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: How do you kind of coach that?
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: We wanted to deny the ball better this game, and
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: I felt like as the game went on, we did
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: a better job of that. But he's a really good player.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: I mean, I think there's a stat. Since he started
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: for these guys last year, he's leading the league in
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: And passing, which is a hell of a stat. And
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: they're really great after the catch as well. So we knew,
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: like we called it an E game, how we tackled.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: I was really impressed with how we tackled. The guys
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: did a great job limiting leaky yards. And so we
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: knew that was going to be part of the game
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: plan when we weren't able to deny the ball. So
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: our guys did a great job.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Bo Stevens and Haynes, that was an alternate plan. Obviously,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: we went 2-2 on drives.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it wasn't going to be a true rotation, but
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: we did want to get Bo some experience. just because
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: I think he's deserved it and it was an opportunity
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: for him to get him out there. So, eager to
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: see him, how they played.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Anthony Bradford, he got another injury on top of the knee.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: He got a little nicked in practice and just couldn't
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: make it to the game. In the first half, not
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: being able to punch it in, what.
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: Did you see out of that?
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: Yeah, like one of the things that I think that
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: we can do a better job of as a team
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: is being more efficient in the red zone, really in
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: both phases, really in offense and defense. So, that's something
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: we'll look at and we'll focus on and try to
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: find more solutions.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Mike McDonald after the Seahawks' 10th, 12th consecutive victory yesterday.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Team record 31-7 over Arizona. You got a failed fourth
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: down with seven offensive linemen in the field and a
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: fullback of Oluwatimi. Play failed. Up next, your chance to
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: be a part of the show. 49451 at the Comodage
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: text line. Any talkbacks you want to talk, 30 seconds
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: or less, leave a voicemail message on the iHeartRadio app
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: or 933KJR. com. And at 1135, just a few minutes, Fact
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: or Fiction... Chance to win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky Eagle
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Casino Resort. All that's coming up next on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 1:04:47Speaker 13: I finally get used to Return of the Mack, and
- 1:04:50Speaker 13: you guys don't play it.
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: What the hell's going on over there?
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: I thought you would find that funny.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: I do. I miss Mark Morrison today.
- 1:05:02Speaker 8: Well, it's because it is a countdown to Monday Night Football.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: No excuse. He didn't buy the excuse either. I like that.
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:13Speaker 8: No, I mean, we do miss Mark, but he'll be
- 1:05:16Speaker 8: back and maybe one day even on this show.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: That would be so awesome. That would be awesome. Was
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: that the only one? No.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: Appreciate you limiting yourself there.
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: That's a good question.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: And 11's not a common number.
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: No, it isn't. But everything that he just listed.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Did he say Marcus Sturiasso Sopo?
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Yeah, he did. Yeah. I'm trying to think of a
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Sonic number 11 from back in the day. Yeah.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: I mean, there was Detlef.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Was Detlef 11?
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: That's what he said.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I couldn't remember that. So.
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: I don't know that off the top.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I think that's a good argument. Who's got a better one?
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Anyone listening? Don't say Frank O'Hara's 32. 24 Griffey, but
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of 24... Marshawn. Marshawn Lynch, right?
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: I'm trying to think Griffey, Marshawn, but then I'm trying
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: to think of any Huskies or Sonics that were 24.
- 1:06:53Speaker 8: Well, it's different as you cross-pollinate sports, too, because, you know, everybody,
- 1:06:57Speaker 8: you know, it's very different.
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: Oh, Ian just chimed in and said Sam Vincent.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Sam Vincent was 24? Desmond Mason was 24, I think,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: back then. Spencer Haywood, I think, might have been 24
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: and had his number retired. Am I right about that?
- 1:07:10Speaker 8: Ian is agreeing, yes, and I trust his institutional knowledge
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: over mine.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: 24 might be second to 11. Maybe close to first,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: because Griffey... And Lynch are just franchise legends on the
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Mariners and the Seahawks, of course. And then Spencer Haywood
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: is a franchise legend for the Supersonics.
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: And as Ian is feeding me information over here, Dennis Johnson.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Was DJ 24? Yeah. Oh, 24 might actually beat 11.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Any Kraken 24s, Ian? I know they've only been around
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: for five years.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: He's not here anymore.
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: Alexiak, yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: That wouldn't quite be to the level of Ken Griffith.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: I feel like I have a producer in Ian right now.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Yes, you do.
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: All right, let's get to it. Come on. It is
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: time for thousand dollars.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: We're set to go. Glad you're with us.
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: $ 10, 000 grand prize. It's Fact or Fiction. Proudly presented by
- 1:08:15Speaker 7: Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel, where every day feels lucky.
- 1:08:19Speaker 7: Fact or Fiction is on. Sports Radio 93.3, KJR FM.
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: Just for you, Greg.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: What is that? Who knows on the text line what
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: that is?
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: We'll see how many people do.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Your terror, rip, or fray. And when the team is
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: fighting for the black and gray and gold, we're always
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: here with song and cheer. And this is the tale
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: we're told. The Army Team.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Da-da-da-da.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Rah, rah, rah.
- 1:08:50Speaker 6: Boom.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: On, brave old Army Team. On to the fray. Fight
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: on to victory. For that's the fearless Army way. We've
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: got to play that Army-Navy December 11th. We will.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: Well, now I put it in the system, so we're
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: good to go.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: The Army team was off last week. They had a
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: bye after their last play lost to South Florida that
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: still stings. But they're back. They're playing on a Friday.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: A 1 o'clock Pacific time start in Philadelphia, where they
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: have always played Army-Navy until recently. They've switched around. But
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: this time they're playing the Temple Owls.
- 1:09:32Speaker 7: What?
- 1:09:33Speaker 8: Who?
- 1:09:34Speaker 13: What?
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Temple lost 49-48 to Toledo in overtime this past weekend.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: They lost 27-9 to Penn State. No shame there. Their
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: only win is they beat Rhode Island 38-14. Army goes
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: into Philadelphia to play Temple as a three-point favorite on
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Friday afternoon. Gimme, gimme the Cadets, the Black Knights, or
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: the Hudson. Army will beat Temple by more than three points.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: I'm saying Army wins by four or more points. Take
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Army minus three at Temple. You knew I was going
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: to get back to my Army team. They never let
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: me down.
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: So shocking.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Except against South Florida.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: I mean, we kind of teased it ahead with that fight.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: So no surprise there. Army minus three at Temple. If
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: you agree, text FACT. To 49451, that means you want
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: to win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky Eagle Casino Resort. If
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: you don't want to win $ 1, 000, text FICTION to 49451
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: and you won't win it. 12 minutes to do it.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: We'll have another one tomorrow at 1135. Ian Furness will
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: have another one at 235. Dave Softy, Marlon Dickfane will
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: have a pick at 335. We do it every day.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: You only have to win once to be entered into
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: the drawing to win $ 1, 000 this week. But it behooves
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: you to play as many times as possible because whoever
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: wins the most between now and December 11th, Army-Navy Friday,
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: is the end of the contest. Whoever wins the most
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: by December 11th in this contest will win $ 10, 000. No
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: drawing of the hat there. $ 10, 000 for those who win
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: the most between now and December 11th from the Lucky
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Eagle Casino Resort. Again, Army minus three at Temple on
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Friday afternoon, a 1 p.m. kick. I think the Army team,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: the pride and dream ever, heart and gray. We'll take
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: care of the owls and do it by four or
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: more points. If you agree, text FACT to 49451. If
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: you disagree, text FICTION to 49451. Jessamyn will have a
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: pick tomorrow from the NFL.
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. That's all I do.
- 1:11:25Speaker 8: By the way, I would just like to thank our
- 1:11:27Speaker 8: TalkBack contribution because we have a ton of people texting
- 1:11:31Speaker 8: in right now with 11s and 24s.
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: And also, I would welcome that as an open conversation.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: That is a good conversation.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: It really is. Hey, you want a producer job?
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: 425 says, sounds like the song of surrender. What are
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: you talking about? Are you communist?
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: Sounds like a Navy fan.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. 425, go Army. John of 206, mule song, boo,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: go Air Force. Oh, yeah. I didn't know John was
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: a Zoomie.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: Well, okay. We love all the armed forces here.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: On this show. Here's a very pleasant Monday morning talkback
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: and feedback to the show. 253, shut up or I'm
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: changing the channel. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: Well, then we could give you dead air.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Oh, we could play it again and I'll sing it
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: again for him or her. Shut up or I'm changing
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: the channel. That's awesome. Somebody would take the time to
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: actually type a text into their phone and send it
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: to a radio station.
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: Well, that's probably another Navy fan.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: Yeah. That is pretty good.
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: Jim Zorn.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Jim Zorn was 10.
- 1:12:44Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Well, I think we have some significant 10s.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Jewel Boyd. Was Jewel Boyd for the Storm 24 or 11?
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I will have to look it up. Number 10, Jake Locker,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Nate McMillan, Jim Zorn, Cooper Cup. Number 10 is pretty good.
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: 10 is pretty good.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Tom Chambers wore 24, Keith says, 253. 253, another 253
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: says Tom Chambers wore 23.
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: Or 24.
- 1:13:10Speaker 8: She did, Jewel did and does wear 24.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: 206, Rich Alexis at UW. Sean Springs wore 24, Keith said. Oh,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Iowa State back in the day, Seahawk. Sean Springs, 24.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I think 24 and 11, which is better? Griffey, Marshawn, 24. Griffey, Marshawn, Lynch,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Spencer Haywood, Dennis Johnson, Sean Springs. Tom Chambers wore 11.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jigba. You know who else wore 11?
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Hugh Millen. Ooh.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: He did.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: How about that?
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: I like that poll.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: I don't know if he wore 11 at Roosevelt High School.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: I think the 310. Yeah, 310 got that, too. Hugh
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: Millen wore 11. There you go on the text line.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: How did we miss that one?
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: All right, well, this will be an ongoing debate.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: About Hugh, by the way, he was right yesterday. In
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: the press conference, he's standing next to me here in Phoenix,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: and Mike McDonald says, chest injury, x-rays negative for Jadarian Price.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: And Hugh turned to me and tapped his shoulder and said,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: that wasn't a chest, that was a shoulder. Well, this
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: morning on his coach's show, Mike McDonald said, well, in fact,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Jadarian Price has a shoulder issue, but he says it's minor.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: He doesn't think he's going to miss much time, if
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: any at all. We'll see if... Jadarian Price, their key
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: running back, practices on Wednesday. But he knows.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: He knows, yes.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: You got that right. It was not a chest. It
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: was a shoulder injury. X-rays negative. Coach McDonald doesn't think
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: he's going to be out long. Up next, Ian Furness
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: will join us, fresh off a Cougs win, a couple
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: wins for his Kraken in the preseason. We'll talk about
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: the Seahawks and more. Ian Furness will tell us what's
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: on his show next. Live from Phoenix on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Welcome back. Greg Bell in Phoenix, Jessamyn McIntyre in Seattle,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Ian Furness in Seattle. We have about a minute left. Actually,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: I think it's beyond the time now. Twelve minutes just elapsed.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: Army minus three at Temple was my factor fiction pick.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: They play on Friday. The Washington State Cougars won this
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: past weekend, got their first win, beat Duquesne. Duquesne. We
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: were growing up. We used to call it Duquesne outside
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: of Pittsburgh. Hello, sir.
- 1:15:52Speaker 13: Hello.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: How are you? I'm doing okay, thanks. Doing all right.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: So you assaged?
- 1:15:59Speaker 13: By the way, you can still get in. I just texted,
- 1:16:01Speaker 13: I don't know what your pick was. I just texted
- 1:16:03Speaker 13: fiction just for giggles.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: Of course you would.
- 1:16:07Speaker 13: And I got a bounce back, so it might still
- 1:16:09Speaker 13: be open for a second at 49451.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Army minus three against Temple. So are you assaged? There's
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: another word for Jessamyn. Are you assaged by your Cougs
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: and their victory the other day?
- 1:16:19Speaker 13: I had a guy tell me that that might be
- 1:16:22Speaker 13: the worst team that's come into Pullman in 50 years.
- 1:16:26Speaker 13: And I said, well, wait a second. We had the
- 1:16:27Speaker 13: Paul Wolf coach Cougs there for a while. So I'm
- 1:16:30Speaker 13: not sure if you can really actually say that out
- 1:16:31Speaker 13: loud and be correct. But yeah, I don't know. You
- 1:16:36Speaker 13: know what they did? And I'd probably say this goes
- 1:16:38Speaker 13: for DeMond and UW too. They did what they had
- 1:16:41Speaker 13: to do. Like a lesser opponent, get going. Get it
- 1:16:46Speaker 13: going before the schedule cranks up like Cougs have Arizona
- 1:16:50Speaker 13: next week, Noah Fafita, and Washington has Minnesota next Saturday night.
- 1:16:54Speaker 13: So just do what you need to do in terms
- 1:16:56Speaker 13: of getting your guys going, and in a way they did.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: By the way, Youngstown State beat Duquesne 70-14 this year.
- 1:17:05Speaker 13: Yeah, it's a bad football team. It's a bad football team, really.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Bad football team. They're in the FCS, the one below.
- 1:17:13Speaker 13: So who's got Saturday? Noah Fafita and Arizona.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Arizona at home, that's right.
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: Three straight home games. Yay for me.
- 1:17:21Speaker 13: Yeah, so they get 10. That'll be a good game.
- 1:17:24Speaker 13: I mean, Arizona's fun Big 12 team coming to town,
- 1:17:27Speaker 13: so kind of a nice little deal before you start
- 1:17:29Speaker 13: Pac-12 play, and away we go.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Wasn't Drew Bledsoe number 11 for the Cougs, as a
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: matter of fact?
- 1:17:34Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Talking about 11s and 24s? Yes, he was. Yes, he was.
- 1:17:38Speaker 13: Number one overall pick.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Absolutely. That's right.
- 1:17:41Speaker 7: Legend.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Did you take a look at your Kraken
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: or not yet? I did.
- 1:17:45Speaker 13: I watched both games. I actually taped them and ended
- 1:17:47Speaker 13: up watching them last night.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: I got nothing.
- 1:17:49Speaker 13: I mean, I met Purple Sheet said something when I
- 1:17:52Speaker 13: came in. I go, Rich, they played not that they play. Well,
- 1:17:57Speaker 13: first of all, they played nobody. And who they played
- 1:18:00Speaker 13: was basically almost everybody that played this weekend just got
- 1:18:03Speaker 13: sent down to Coachella Valley today. So really, what can
- 1:18:06Speaker 13: you learn from those two?
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: Nothing.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Nothing. No regulars at all?
- 1:18:09Speaker 13: Joey and Grubauer.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:18:11Speaker 13: Just the two goalies. Cale Fleury played a little bit.
- 1:18:15Speaker 13: Josh Meher played a little bit. Ryan Winterton played a
- 1:18:18Speaker 13: little bit. But, I mean, you know, fourth-line players and
- 1:18:22Speaker 13: your goalies just getting some work. So, you really can't.
- 1:18:26Speaker 13: I think, you know, I talked to Lane Lambert about
- 1:18:28Speaker 13: it last week. They're just trying to, kind of like
- 1:18:30Speaker 13: the NFL did. When you start cutting down training, not
- 1:18:34Speaker 13: training camp, but preseason games.
- 1:18:35Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:18:35Speaker 13: You know, like, how do you handle it? like it
- 1:18:37Speaker 13: goes from six to four. So Seattle, and I think
- 1:18:41Speaker 13: Calgary and Vancouver did the same thing. They just played
- 1:18:42Speaker 13: all their kids in the first two games. Now with
- 1:18:45Speaker 13: all the guys sent down, they will have to play
- 1:18:47Speaker 13: regulars in the next two games.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: So they go back to training camp between now and Thursday?
- 1:18:52Speaker 13: Yeah, they're off today and then they're back. They'll practice Tuesday, Wednesday,
- 1:18:56Speaker 13: game on Thursday, practice Friday, game on Saturday, and then
- 1:19:00Speaker 13: Get ready for the regular season to open up a
- 1:19:02Speaker 13: week from Thursday.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: October 1 is the opener at Calgary. What do you
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: got on the show today?
- 1:19:06Speaker 13: We'll get into, obviously, a lot with what happened yesterday.
- 1:19:09Speaker 13: Great stuff down in Arizona. I know Hugh Millen was
- 1:19:11Speaker 13: with you down there. And so Hugh's going to join
- 1:19:14Speaker 13: us coming up today at 1220, a weekly visit for
- 1:19:17Speaker 13: Hardcore Football. So we'll check in with Hugh with Hardcore
- 1:19:20Speaker 13: Football at 1220 today. We will mollywop at 1 o'clock.
- 1:19:24Speaker 13: I'm going to give you guys... The code. There's a
- 1:19:26Speaker 13: code for Seattle still to get into the playoffs. See, Jess,
- 1:19:28Speaker 13: you like me? Happy glass half full guy?
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm surprised.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: The code would have to be the Rangers lose six
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: in a row, the trash cans lose six in a row. Nope, nope.
- 1:19:38Speaker 13: I got a better one for you, but I'll explain
- 1:19:39Speaker 13: that coming up at 1 o'clock, so don't worry. It
- 1:19:41Speaker 13: can still happen.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Not only optimistic, but a good teaser.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Yes, yes. So we'll mollywop.
- 1:19:46Speaker 13: And then Mike Sando, his pick six, call him the athlete. God,
- 1:19:49Speaker 13: what a weekend in the NFL, man. Devastating quarterback injuries.
- 1:19:55Speaker 13: Other stuff going on, like how bad are the Chargers?
- 1:19:58Speaker 13: I mean, and other teams, right? I mean, God.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: And now the Seahawks get the 0-2 commanders on the
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: road with Jalen Daniels out, and they get the Chargers
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: who look like a mess. That's their next two games.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: I'd say Sam Darnold should be in no hurry to
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: come back.
- 1:20:13Speaker 13: Well, you know, that's going to be interesting to see
- 1:20:16Speaker 13: how this week goes. Yeah, Chargers, man, 0-2 getting beat
- 1:20:20Speaker 13: by the Raiders by two scores?
- 1:20:21Speaker 8: What?
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: What?
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: What? Cardinals and Raiders are who the Chargers have lost
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: to so far.
- 1:20:27Speaker 13: God. I mean, Jim Harbaugh.
- 1:20:30Speaker 8: Uh-oh.
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: Uh-oh.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Khakis on a seat?
- 1:20:36Speaker 13: I think those khakis are in a really hot seat
- 1:20:38Speaker 13: right now. And none of us are losing sleep over it,
- 1:20:41Speaker 13: that's for sure. Yeah, busy show coming up today.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Ian's on from 12 until 3. Greg Bell from Phoenix
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: saying thank you. I'm flying back this afternoon. I'll be
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: back in the studio tomorrow in Seattle. Thanks to Jess
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: and McIntyre. Thanks to all the techs, even the Navy ones,
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: even the Air Force Zumi ones and the Navy squids.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: Appreciate it. I'll be on again tomorrow. Ian's up next.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: Thanks for listening on 93.3 KJR FM.
