- 0:28What up, bitches?
- 0:30What's up?
- 0:31I didn't have a meeting
- 0:32right before this one,
- 0:33so I was here a minute early,
- 0:35and we're actually on air a
- 0:36tad bit early.
- 0:38Yes, we are.
- 0:39That's to you, Corey.
- 0:41No meeting, but I am literally,
- 0:43the minute this is over,
- 0:45meetings the entire rest of the day.
- 0:47Yeah.
- 0:51No meetings for me,
- 0:52except I do have an
- 0:53appointment with a nap.
- 0:55A nap.
- 0:55A nap.
- 0:57We got some, uh,
- 1:00S Savage S one versus
- 1:02innovate versus Reebok talk
- 1:04going on in the chat.
- 1:07Fun place to start.
- 1:09What is your go-to workout shoe?
- 1:12Well, currently I'm wearing the Reebok,
- 1:16I think the threes, the 13th 13th.
- 1:18Uh, I started with Reebok.
- 1:23Yeah.
- 1:24Or X three.
- 1:25I mean, like the brand new ones.
- 1:28Then it's the 12.
- 1:30I think it's X3.
- 1:31No, I think it's, I do think it's an X3.
- 1:34Anyway, I started with Reebok, right?
- 1:39The Nano 4s, I think, or the 2s.
- 1:42I think the 2s.
- 1:42I don't know.
- 1:45Then I had several and then I, you know,
- 1:51switched and went to, what was it?
- 1:55Nike for a little while.
- 1:57I like, I do like Nike.
- 1:59Um, I like,
- 2:00I hated running and nanos hated it.
- 2:04And so I didn't like them
- 2:07for any type of workout
- 2:08that had running that kind of thing.
- 2:10Um, so I switched over to Nike Metcon.
- 2:13I tried nobles.
- 2:15I hate nobles to work out in.
- 2:18Maybe they're fine.
- 2:19Um,
- 2:21you know,
- 2:21for coaching and things like that,
- 2:22but I just don't like love my nobles.
- 2:25So now then I switched back to Reebok and,
- 2:27um, you know,
- 2:29they've made some upgrades
- 2:30with their shoe and I'm,
- 2:31I'm very happy with it.
- 2:33Yes.
- 2:33And there is a military
- 2:34discount with that.
- 2:36Yeah.
- 2:37I, um,
- 2:38I was a Reebok guy three through six.
- 2:42Mm-hmm.
- 2:43And then I, that's when I,
- 2:45when Charlie talked to me into the, uh,
- 2:48Nike Metcon re knits fly nets.
- 2:53Yeah.
- 2:54And then I was cool with
- 2:55that for a little bit.
- 2:58And then I went back to
- 2:59Reebok for the nine.
- 3:00Yeah.
- 3:04I have like five pairs of, yeah.
- 3:06because I really like that
- 3:07shoe and that is all I've
- 3:09worn ever since yeah till I
- 3:12got the rad r1s wow the rad
- 3:16r1 runners I love working
- 3:19out in it's the first
- 3:21runner that I feel stable
- 3:23enough to work out in yeah
- 3:26well I haven't I never tried those ones
- 3:30Well, they're hard to get.
- 3:31I just,
- 3:32I got lucky enough that I was on a show,
- 3:34called out the CEO of Rad
- 3:37that they are never in stock.
- 3:39And he sent me a pair.
- 3:41Well,
- 3:41I'll tell you one of the worst shoes.
- 3:43I think the worst model of
- 3:45Reebok was the 10,
- 3:46the X. Those are the ones
- 3:48that we got for Rogue for volunteering,
- 3:51but got canceled.
- 3:53Yeah.
- 3:54I think they are the absolute worst shoes.
- 3:57pair of shoes.
- 3:57I hated the way they felt.
- 3:59They were so high up on the heel.
- 4:04They were heavy.
- 4:05I felt like clown shoes.
- 4:07I have big feet for my frame actually,
- 4:10but I felt like it looked
- 4:12like I was wearing dumb
- 4:14looking shoes when I wore those.
- 4:16But they've since, like I said,
- 4:18corrected it and now I'm enjoying them.
- 4:22I know the Savage S1s are
- 4:23becoming super popular.
- 4:25By Born Primitive.
- 4:26Yeah.
- 4:28And they're very much the
- 4:29look of the old Nano 2.
- 4:31And people seem to love them.
- 4:35But Kenneth's just going
- 4:37back to the Chuck Taylors.
- 4:39If it works, dude.
- 4:40Yeah.
- 4:41And here's the other thing.
- 4:42A lot of times, like,
- 4:43I'm sure a lot of the other
- 4:44shoe companies do this too.
- 4:45But I know that Reebok
- 4:46usually has like a 40% off,
- 4:49like when they're getting
- 4:50ready to put out a new model.
- 4:52And so I mean, come on.
- 4:54I mean,
- 4:54that's a really good price to stock up.
- 4:57Yeah.
- 4:58I saw,
- 4:59I think Ken said that he's close to
- 5:00an innovate store and they,
- 5:03and they go on sale for like 45 bucks.
- 5:05You can't beat the price.
- 5:05Okay.
- 5:06Yeah.
- 5:07We used to have North of us
- 5:09and outlet mall that had a
- 5:10Reebok store and on my way to my parents,
- 5:13I had to pass that outlet
- 5:14store and that you could
- 5:16get nanos for like 20, 30 bucks.
- 5:18Yeah.
- 5:23Jay Ross says,
- 5:26anyone use zero drop more minimal shoes?
- 5:29I don't,
- 5:29but I've seen several athletes
- 5:33definitely have some minimal shoes.
- 5:37I can't do it.
- 5:39I'm too old.
- 5:40My feet hurt too bad.
- 5:43And that's what the rads
- 5:44have been a game changer for me.
- 5:45There's enough cushion in it
- 5:47for like a runner,
- 5:49but yet it's stable enough
- 5:50I can still work out.
- 5:52Yeah.
- 5:52I mean, I used to think for me,
- 5:55that was when I was really running, um,
- 5:57a lot, like I needed that, um,
- 6:02like a thicker kind of shoe, but you know,
- 6:04since I'm not running as much anymore,
- 6:07it's fine.
- 6:09What were the,
- 6:10the Reebok and actually I
- 6:11got a new pair of Reebok runners too,
- 6:13but Reebok in the rad
- 6:14runners when I'm in an
- 6:16event on that cement all day, like,
- 6:19Oh, yeah.
- 6:20Oh, yeah.
- 6:20Totally game changing.
- 6:22Yes, that does.
- 6:24That definitely makes makes
- 6:26a difference when you're
- 6:27standing on concrete.
- 6:28That's for sure.
- 6:29You know, I'm curious about Adidas.
- 6:35Me, too.
- 6:35That was kind of my next thing.
- 6:37So you hit it before me.
- 6:39OK, let's talk about it.
- 6:41Thanks, Kat.
- 6:42What made it pop into my
- 6:44head is I just watched the
- 6:45Bethany interview with Dave
- 6:47Castro last night.
- 6:48Okay.
- 6:49And we're having her on next Friday.
- 6:52But she signed with Adidas.
- 6:54Yeah.
- 6:55And I know that because of her back issues,
- 6:58she's very particular about her shoes.
- 7:02And I don't think she's ever
- 7:03had a deal footwear wise until this.
- 7:08Yeah.
- 7:10so she said they have five
- 7:12athletes signed sydney
- 7:15wells her and then three
- 7:17men and two of them are are
- 7:19teen athletes they're not
- 7:21even like okay in the main
- 7:23game yet yeah so and adidas
- 7:30has been around the game
- 7:31forever well yeah but I you
- 7:34have to call it adidas
- 7:38Well, I don't have to.
- 7:39Adidas?
- 7:44And what I found interesting
- 7:45in the Castro interview is
- 7:46he was talking that they
- 7:48were in talks with Adidas
- 7:50to have a deal with early on in CrossFit.
- 7:54But at the time,
- 7:55Adidas and Reebok were
- 7:58under the same umbrella.
- 8:01Ah, yeah.
- 8:02And they were trying to make
- 8:03a clear delineation between
- 8:06training and sports.
- 8:09And so Adidas became the
- 8:11sport shoe Reebok became
- 8:13the training shoe,
- 8:16but now they're not under
- 8:17the same umbrella.
- 8:18Yeah.
- 8:19And so that's why Adidas is
- 8:20coming in pretty hard, uh, with, uh, with,
- 8:27with the new training shoe, um,
- 8:30similar topics, changing it slightly.
- 8:32Um, I heard.
- 8:35that the inventor or the, you know,
- 8:38the head of Adidas and Puma
- 8:42were brothers and they got into like a,
- 8:48a feud and kind of
- 8:50separated and made their own,
- 8:53each made their own companies.
- 8:55Somebody told me that.
- 8:56The only thing I know about
- 8:58Adidas is what I saw in the movie air.
- 9:03Well, if you watch the Beckham documentary,
- 9:05they talk a lot about Adidas.
- 9:07That's why.
- 9:08Okay.
- 9:10Have you seen Air?
- 9:12No.
- 9:13It's Nike signing Michael Jordan.
- 9:16Yeah.
- 9:17Yeah.
- 9:18And how there was like a war
- 9:19to get him between Converse, Adidas,
- 9:22and Nike.
- 9:23And Nike wasn't even a player.
- 9:25Nike was just a running shoe back then.
- 9:28And there was just one guy
- 9:29that wanted to go all in on signing him.
- 9:32And he had to convince Phil
- 9:34Knight and the crew to let him.
- 9:36And the movie's about like
- 9:37that story of trying to get there.
- 9:41And then when they signed him,
- 9:42the difference it made in their company.
- 9:45Yeah.
- 9:46Yeah.
- 9:48Like he still makes,
- 9:51Jordan himself still makes
- 9:54hundreds of millions of
- 9:55dollars a year on his show.
- 9:57Yeah.
- 9:57I can't even imagine.
- 9:59he was the first athlete to
- 10:00get a portion of the shoe sales.
- 10:06And it was almost a deal
- 10:07breaker that made Phil Knight walk away.
- 10:12I'm sure he is so glad that he did not.
- 10:15Oh my gosh.
- 10:17Oh my gosh.
- 10:18Yeah.
- 10:18It's, it's great.
- 10:19It's Matt Damon, Ben Affleck.
- 10:22And it's, it's on Amazon prime, I think.
- 10:25Yeah.
- 10:27So if you have a minute, it's,
- 10:29you would love it.
- 10:30It's just a really good movie.
- 10:31I'll fit that in after my first nap.
- 10:34Okay.
- 10:34You do that.
- 10:35I'll finish it after my 18
- 10:37meetings this afternoon.
- 10:39Well,
- 10:40this is napping season for me because
- 10:42of not being in school,
- 10:45but also I definitely nap
- 10:47on days when I get up at
- 10:49four to coach when in
- 10:51actuality means I really wake up today.
- 10:54I woke up at two 30 and
- 10:55couldn't go back to bed.
- 10:59Uh,
- 11:00Charlie said that's the same deal he
- 11:01made with Clydesdale.
- 11:04Yeah.
- 11:05Charlie made us who we are today.
- 11:08He did something.
- 11:10He came to the gym today.
- 11:11He did.
- 11:12Yep.
- 11:12Wow.
- 11:16That's good.
- 11:17He did.
- 11:17Yeah.
- 11:17He worked out too.
- 11:20He probably listened to this.
- 11:21He probably did more work
- 11:22than I did today.
- 11:24No way.
- 11:25Yep.
- 11:26But that's because I'm a little injured.
- 11:31What'd you do?
- 11:32Is it working on the deck?
- 11:34Yep.
- 11:35I think it was, I've been working on,
- 11:37you know, lots of deck projects going on.
- 11:41I've replaced all the boards, you know,
- 11:44this,
- 11:44but then I painted all the boards
- 11:47and it was a lot of I think
- 11:50just a lot of like hinging and
- 11:54I don't know,
- 11:54probably rounding my back
- 11:56some and just odd, you know, odd
- 12:00movements.
- 12:01So I felt kind of tweaky
- 12:03coming in yesterday.
- 12:04And the workout was terrible.
- 12:07And I definitely had to stop mid workout.
- 12:12And I was smart.
- 12:13And it's because I didn't
- 12:14want to keep going.
- 12:16I knew it would be bad.
- 12:18So I just I came home,
- 12:19I kind of walked the dog
- 12:20and just did some walking.
- 12:21And then today I went in
- 12:22because I was coaching and it was
- 12:2310 to one of power snatch
- 12:27and burpee over bar.
- 12:29And so I just did,
- 12:30I did like hang power
- 12:31snatch at 45 pounds and
- 12:34then step back and step over burpee.
- 12:36So I didn't even sweat,
- 12:37which is kind of annoying.
- 12:39Listen, you're not in games training.
- 12:41You're right.
- 12:42I'm not.
- 12:43No, I was happy to do some training.
- 12:46So it's all good.
- 12:49Elise Carr-Redau.
- 12:51Hinging plus oldness does
- 12:53not go together well.
- 12:55Yeah, go back up to... Yeah, there we go.
- 12:57And then Mike Halpin does
- 12:58jump in to say Adidas and
- 13:00Puma were created by the
- 13:01Dassler brothers.
- 13:02Adolph Dassler, Adidas.
- 13:05Yeah, okay.
- 13:06See,
- 13:07I thought that there was something
- 13:08going there.
- 13:10Yeah, they... In the movie Air,
- 13:12they actually...
- 13:13like part of the trying to
- 13:15convince them not to go
- 13:17with Adolf and the German company.
- 13:20Yeah.
- 13:21Yeah.
- 13:23Yep.
- 13:27Charlie did squat yesterday
- 13:29and he's squatting tomorrow.
- 13:30I saw him.
- 13:32I saw him squat.
- 13:34When I was interviewing Brandon Luckett,
- 13:35I didn't know how much to
- 13:36go all in on Charlie doing his EMOM.
- 13:39Yeah.
- 13:40Endurance piece.
- 13:41Because if Charlie makes it to day five,
- 13:45we're lucky.
- 13:48Let's find out.
- 13:49Charlie, let us know.
- 13:52So I didn't know whether to
- 13:53go all in with Brandon and say, hey,
- 13:55we got a guy.
- 13:56We got a guy.
- 13:56Right.
- 13:58I know Corey does it like every day.
- 14:00And Brandon actually was
- 14:01talking smack about Corey
- 14:02before we went on the air.
- 14:04Yeah.
- 14:06Ooh.
- 14:07Ooh.
- 14:11Weak legs equal weak minds, some say.
- 14:13Well,
- 14:13I'm going to use that for the next
- 14:14time I'm coaching because like we'll have,
- 14:17sometimes we'll have like a,
- 14:19after the workout,
- 14:20we'll have some accessory piece,
- 14:22a piece and it's, you know,
- 14:22like a little body pump or something.
- 14:24And I'll be like,
- 14:25and what happens typically
- 14:28is people will do the
- 14:28workout and then they just peace out.
- 14:30And I was like,
- 14:31none of you should be
- 14:34skipping any leg days.
- 14:35You need to be here.
- 14:36You need to stay.
- 14:37So now I'm going to use the
- 14:38weak minds now.
- 14:41Basically,
- 14:41Charlie has to get past the free trial.
- 14:48Charlie loves free stuff.
- 14:51Well,
- 14:51and we were talking about the Savage
- 14:53Ones.
- 14:53EMOM is giving away a pair
- 14:55of Savage Ones with their
- 14:56current challenge.
- 14:57If Charlie were to do the challenge,
- 14:58he might get something free.
- 15:01So I'm going to ask you one more question.
- 15:04Okay.
- 15:05We talked last week that
- 15:06your son got his L1,
- 15:07and he is coaching at another gym.
- 15:10Yeah.
- 15:11Have you attended a class in
- 15:13which he coaches?
- 15:14No, not yet.
- 15:16No, but he shadowed me coaching.
- 15:22And then what I mean,
- 15:24he basically has been
- 15:25shadowing me coaching his whole life,
- 15:27right?
- 15:27But he, he,
- 15:30him and I co coached a class meeting,
- 15:32I let him run it while I was there.
- 15:34So I've observed him coaching,
- 15:36but I haven't like been the
- 15:37athlete in his class.
- 15:39But he's a coach at another gym.
- 15:41Correct.
- 15:44How long would you give it
- 15:47for him to feel comfortable
- 15:49before you go to his gym
- 15:51and take his class?
- 15:53He's good.
- 15:54I could totally do it.
- 15:55Okay.
- 15:56Yeah.
- 15:57Like Corey would never want me to like,
- 15:59I'd have to give it like three months.
- 16:01Yeah, no, he's totally fine.
- 16:02He coaches me all the time.
- 16:04I mean, all the time,
- 16:06like one-on-one kind of stuff.
- 16:07Yeah, one on one,
- 16:08Corey would let me do that.
- 16:09It's that she'd be over a class.
- 16:12Yeah, sure.
- 16:13You know, it's, yeah.
- 16:16I mean, he's,
- 16:17he's definitely a natural leader.
- 16:19And, you know,
- 16:20so I think when he knows the stuff,
- 16:22then he's, you know,
- 16:24feels really confident.
- 16:24I think, you know, like, a lot of people,
- 16:26hey,
- 16:26if you know what you're talking about,
- 16:27it's easier.
- 16:31Obviously,
- 16:32so it was not a mom giving away the seven,
- 16:34it's actually uplift.
- 16:37but Brandon Luckett is doing
- 16:38the program for that workout this month.
- 16:41An uplift we have been promoting.
- 16:42It's a suicide prevention
- 16:44organization that we
- 16:45promote as much as we can
- 16:48on this channel.
- 16:51So.
- 16:52Oh, here's, let's talk about this then.
- 16:54Here's a little challenge
- 16:55that is happening.
- 16:56So our gym does, well,
- 16:58and I think it's a part of
- 16:59Mayhem programming,
- 16:59but our gym does like a
- 17:00monthly challenge.
- 17:01So it's like whatever is
- 17:03outside of Mayhem,
- 17:06workouts,
- 17:06like it might be like accumulate
- 17:09single leg squats, you know,
- 17:11try to accumulate a
- 17:12thousand per leg this month
- 17:13or something like that.
- 17:14Um, so, and I saw Cheryl,
- 17:16your nutrition coach
- 17:17talking about this on one
- 17:19of her clips the other day.
- 17:20So I'm curious,
- 17:22do you track your steps per day?
- 17:28I was until my watch stopped
- 17:31doing it correctly.
- 17:35And I'm not,
- 17:35I don't have the money to get
- 17:36a new watch right this moment.
- 17:38Yeah, sure.
- 17:40But yeah, on our weekly check-in with her,
- 17:42we have to record our steps for the week.
- 17:45Ah, okay.
- 17:47Well,
- 17:47so it made me think about it because
- 17:49our monthly challenge is,
- 17:50is try to get eight or
- 17:518,000 to 10,000 steps five times a week.
- 17:53And, um,
- 17:58And so I was just, just kind of curious,
- 18:00like what other people, you know,
- 18:03knowing having desk jobs or
- 18:05things like that.
- 18:06Um,
- 18:06and part of also what Cheryl was
- 18:08talking about, like, how do you get those,
- 18:12those steps really, Charlie,
- 18:13you count each step in a notebook.
- 18:15I don't believe that.
- 18:18Yeah.
- 18:22Um, yeah, Kenneth said,
- 18:24I didn't realize watches
- 18:25were so expensive.
- 18:27Garments are pricey.
- 18:28They are.
- 18:28Yeah, they are.
- 18:30And I ended up banging them
- 18:31on everything that I walked through,
- 18:33like every door jam, every frame,
- 18:36every whatever.
- 18:37And it,
- 18:37mine looks like it's been through a lot.
- 18:41And I mean,
- 18:42like your phone will track your steps,
- 18:44but that means you have to always,
- 18:45you know, have your phone on you.
- 18:46And that's just a pain so much.
- 18:51The first Garmin I ever had
- 18:54literally looks like a CPU on my wrist,
- 19:01like the old first kind of computers.
- 19:04And they didn't even do half
- 19:06of the stuff that Garmins can do now.
- 19:09See, you have this nice,
- 19:10dainty little wrist that
- 19:12watches look cool on.
- 19:13I need the whole CPU just to
- 19:16look normal on my wrist.
- 19:19Right.
- 19:19That's a big honking.
- 19:22Yeah.
- 19:24So I always get the big – I
- 19:27was interviewing Travis
- 19:28Mayer at Granite Games,
- 19:29and his watch is massive.
- 19:31And I was like,
- 19:32that's the one I want
- 19:33because that's going to
- 19:34make my wrist look normal size.
- 19:36Yeah.
- 19:39Yeah.
- 19:39And so there we are.
- 19:42So what's your typical goal then?
- 19:44Meaning that you have like a
- 19:46sit down job kind of thing.
- 19:48Eight to 10.
- 19:48Eight to 10.
- 19:49Yeah.
- 19:49It's amazing.
- 19:51What I try to do is like two
- 19:53laps around our big block
- 19:56with Walter a day in
- 19:58addition to like other stuff,
- 20:00like getting up and moving.
- 20:04Yeah.
- 20:04And it's been really
- 20:05beautiful this week to do that.
- 20:07It has been amazing this week.
- 20:08But it's interesting because
- 20:09I thought that me being in
- 20:11the classroom and teaching
- 20:12that I would get more steps,
- 20:14but I actually don't.
- 20:17I wish it would count like
- 20:17the number of squats that I
- 20:19do because I'm literally
- 20:20like in basically a squat
- 20:21position all day talking to kids.
- 20:23But I don't really get that
- 20:25many steps in the classroom
- 20:28as I do actually over the
- 20:29summer because I'm just being a busybody.
- 20:32I thought at Syndicate Crown,
- 20:33I'd have like a ton,
- 20:35because normally I do.
- 20:37And it could be my watch
- 20:38still is malfunctioning,
- 20:39but when I'm holding a camera,
- 20:41it doesn't register anything.
- 20:43Because I'm holding the
- 20:44camera like still as I'm moving,
- 20:47and it doesn't shake enough to register.
- 20:50Does that make sense?
- 20:52Yeah, yeah.
- 20:55I'll even put it on like
- 20:56when I mow the lawn.
- 20:57Cause I'm curious about like
- 20:59steps for that.
- 21:01I'll put it, it's two miles for me.
- 21:03It tracks like two miles for
- 21:04me mowing my lawn.
- 21:06But you know,
- 21:07of course it's all just lines
- 21:09and of steps, but.
- 21:10Do you ever look at the GPS
- 21:11when you're done to see
- 21:12like the scribble back and forth?
- 21:14Yes.
- 21:14And it's like,
- 21:15why did you go that way and do that?
- 21:17And I was like, I don't know.
- 21:18I got bored.
- 21:18So I just cut it in half and
- 21:21then come back.
- 21:24All right.
- 21:24Well,
- 21:25I wanted to do something fun with you
- 21:26today.
- 21:27And it comes from our buddy Wad Zombie,
- 21:30which before I pull this up,
- 21:32he has new cards out.
- 21:33There's five new cards in
- 21:34the last two weeks.
- 21:37And one of the cool aspects
- 21:39of the cards is there's a
- 21:42Jeffrey Adler champion card.
- 21:45It has a gold foil champion at the bottom.
- 21:47Yeah.
- 21:48And the picture used was
- 21:50taken by our photographer
- 21:52at the CrossFit Games last year.
- 21:53That's right.
- 21:55Rosie view photography or Jess.
- 21:58Um, so proud.
- 22:01So cool.
- 22:02Got to talk to what zombie
- 22:04got to be part of the
- 22:05negotiations that got that
- 22:07picture on the card.
- 22:08Uh, and it was so freaking cool.
- 22:12So going to support what
- 22:14zombie a little bit today.
- 22:16And he put out this, uh,
- 22:21this thing on Instagram of a plane seat,
- 22:24uh,
- 22:26So there are 12 open seats on a plane.
- 22:32Which seat would you pick to sit in?
- 22:35Now you have row one with
- 22:38Jason Hopper and Colton
- 22:40Mertens or two with Amy
- 22:42Kringle and Bella Martin.
- 22:44Three with Brooke Wells and
- 22:46Sarah Sigmund's daughter.
- 22:47Sarah looks like she will
- 22:49literally fight you with
- 22:50her eyeballs right there.
- 22:51Yeah.
- 22:52That's the right before the event.
- 22:54Yeah.
- 22:54She's going to cut you.
- 22:56Four is Scott Pancheck and Josh Bridges.
- 22:59Five is Taylor Self and John Young.
- 23:02Six is Matt Fraser, Tia Toomey.
- 23:05Seven is Dave Castro and Siobhan.
- 23:07Eight is Greg Glassman and Don Fall.
- 23:11Nine is Danny Spiegel and Andrew Hiller.
- 23:14Ten is Jason Kalipa and Rich Froning.
- 23:16And 11 is Just With Danielle Brandon.
- 23:19And 12 is Just With Hayley Adams.
- 23:21Hmm.
- 23:23So my gut says,
- 23:25and then I'll give you a
- 23:27backup if something happens.
- 23:28My gut is I want number 10.
- 23:31That's what I picked.
- 23:34I figured.
- 23:36So I'm definitely,
- 23:37that would be number one
- 23:38because I think that that
- 23:39would be the most humbling and genuine,
- 23:47like,
- 23:48The storytelling.
- 23:49Yeah.
- 23:49Conversation.
- 23:50Storytelling of,
- 23:51of the old OG days of
- 23:54CrossFit would be awesome.
- 23:56And I love both of them.
- 23:57Yes.
- 23:58Yes.
- 23:58Bonus is you get to
- 24:01eavesdrop on the row behind you,
- 24:03which is Greg Glassman and Dawnfall.
- 24:06So that's my, that was my pick.
- 24:11Well, I actually think my second pick.
- 24:15would be seat number nine
- 24:17because of entertainment
- 24:18value only and that's the
- 24:21heller spiegel yeah just be
- 24:24like oh for real you just
- 24:26said that you know charlie
- 24:30said he would take two on
- 24:31the way to and 11 on the
- 24:33way back on his round trip oh yeah you
- 24:40One hundred percent.
- 24:41We don't even have to ask him why.
- 24:43No.
- 24:45I think in his top five list,
- 24:47the exemption list that
- 24:48people get single and
- 24:51Daniel Brandon are both on that list.
- 24:54Yeah.
- 24:57So and Bella Martin's pretty cool.
- 25:00I like her.
- 25:01She's she's a she's a neat chick.
- 25:02So that's cool.
- 25:06Yeah.
- 25:09See,
- 25:09I think Rich and Jason would totally
- 25:11be talkative.
- 25:12I think they would totally
- 25:13have conversations with people.
- 25:14They would love to talk about it, I think.
- 25:19Every time I've run into
- 25:20either one of them, they have been very,
- 25:23very talkative to me.
- 25:27Yeah.
- 25:27Rich and Jason are both very gregarious.
- 25:30Totally.
- 25:30Very open to talk.
- 25:32Yes.
- 25:33Halpin says three,
- 25:34and I'm leaning way back.
- 25:36That means he's in the row
- 25:37with Hopper and Colton.
- 25:42But he's sitting in with Brooke and Sarah.
- 25:46Mike, that's me in 10.
- 25:48I'm leaning back to hear
- 25:49what Glassman and Fall are
- 25:51talking about as I'm
- 25:52sitting with Rich and Jason.
- 25:56So do you think Don's on the way out?
- 25:59No.
- 26:01Okay.
- 26:02I think he's just the face
- 26:06that's taken all the
- 26:07punishment right now.
- 26:09And the equity firms,
- 26:11they need someone to go do that.
- 26:15Yeah.
- 26:17And I don't want to dive
- 26:18into all that business again.
- 26:20No, you're fine.
- 26:22You're fine.
- 26:22I just was thinking about it.
- 26:27Um,
- 26:29cause I've been one of the biggest
- 26:30supporters of Dawnfall.
- 26:31Yeah.
- 26:32And,
- 26:33and this last thing upset me a little
- 26:37more than other things have.
- 26:38So it just, he seemed tone deaf.
- 26:42Yes.
- 26:45And really from what affects me most,
- 26:47and that's media, I think.
- 26:49Yeah.
- 26:51So the other thing I want to
- 26:55talk about real quick is I
- 26:56woke up to a really cool note.
- 26:58Oh, yeah.
- 27:00I woke up to a note from Sean Woodland.
- 27:06He actually saw our show Sunday night,
- 27:09and I said some things about him,
- 27:12and it's going to be a loss
- 27:15not having him at the games this year.
- 27:17And he wrote back that he
- 27:18caught it and thanked me so much,
- 27:20and he can't wait to thank me in person.
- 27:24And I was very touched by that.
- 27:26That's very lovely, really.
- 27:28And I've told this story a couple times.
- 27:32I knew Sean when he was a
- 27:33sportscaster in Tallahassee, Florida,
- 27:35when I lived there.
- 27:36And I would tune in every
- 27:37night to hear about Florida
- 27:38state baseball and Florida
- 27:39state football.
- 27:40Yeah.
- 27:41And, uh,
- 27:42and it was really wild for me to
- 27:44then later in life,
- 27:46see him as the announcer of
- 27:47the CrossFit games.
- 27:49Um, but every time,
- 27:51every time I have run into him,
- 27:53he has been kind and we
- 27:55never taught CrossFit.
- 27:56We always talk hockey or
- 27:57football or other stuff.
- 28:00And he was one of our first ever guests.
- 28:01He was,
- 28:02I remember that like episode 13 or
- 28:05something like that.
- 28:06And,
- 28:08Yeah.
- 28:09Uh, so really cool.
- 28:12Yeah.
- 28:12I w I wasn't going to bring this up,
- 28:13but that was really cool too.
- 28:15Had to get,
- 28:16yo sent me a thank you for
- 28:18supporting her.
- 28:19And it was a signed Jersey, uh,
- 28:21from semifinals, um,
- 28:23in a bracelet set of
- 28:25bracelets that said Clydesdale capable.
- 28:27Okay.
- 28:30and uh so that was really
- 28:31cool um and I will get a
- 28:35frame for that very soon
- 28:36and it will go up on the
- 28:38wall of course are you
- 28:39running out of wall space
- 28:42uh I'm running out behind
- 28:43me yeah but I have plenty
- 28:45like in the yeah yeah yeah
- 28:47okay yeah so um there's
- 28:52that but that was really cool
- 28:54But I wanted to ask you about Dave,
- 28:56Dave Castro's interviews,
- 28:57because at first I thought, man,
- 28:59that's going to be a
- 28:59conflict of interest.
- 29:01And I've really,
- 29:02after hearing 17 of them
- 29:05have softened my stance.
- 29:07Okay.
- 29:07Look at that.
- 29:08You see here, we're,
- 29:09we've got some capability of growth here.
- 29:14I think they've been awesome.
- 29:15And if you have not been watching them,
- 29:17they are so, and the more he does,
- 29:19the better he's getting at them.
- 29:21Yeah.
- 29:22But when he said five to 10 minutes,
- 29:26none of them are five minutes.
- 29:27They are 10 to 15.
- 29:29Yeah.
- 29:30You can't have a,
- 29:30just getting to know you
- 29:31kind of conversation with
- 29:32somebody that's only five minutes,
- 29:34you know?
- 29:36And I,
- 29:37and I think the ones that he doesn't
- 29:38know the people very well
- 29:40are better than the ones he
- 29:42knows the people.
- 29:43Yeah.
- 29:43Yeah.
- 29:45Well, so far he's,
- 29:46so he's at 17 and we
- 29:48thought he would make it to 18.
- 29:50I said that I, I am wrong.
- 29:53I, he's going to crush that goal.
- 29:55Well, that's see, I love this.
- 29:59We can admit when we're wrong.
- 30:01He actually said that he,
- 30:03and I should have known this.
- 30:04He's very goal oriented.
- 30:07And if he sets a goal for himself,
- 30:08he's going to hit it.
- 30:09That's true.
- 30:10And he came out and said,
- 30:11the only reason he would
- 30:12not hit 80 is if someone
- 30:13refused to come on.
- 30:16I think he is going to be, um,
- 30:20I think he is going to be
- 30:22hard pressed to get some of
- 30:23the people who do not speak
- 30:24English with him.
- 30:27Sure.
- 30:29But,
- 30:30and I don't think it's going to be a
- 30:31refusal.
- 30:31I think it's just going to
- 30:32be a lack of the possibility.
- 30:36Yeah.
- 30:36And if you have a translator,
- 30:38it's just harder for that
- 30:40for clips and to make it be that time.
- 30:44Kat said, I said 25, also wrong.
- 30:48Yeah.
- 30:49I was way off.
- 30:51But, yeah.
- 30:53But, you know,
- 30:54what's interesting is where
- 30:55I'm seeing all the clips.
- 30:59On his channel?
- 31:00No.
- 31:01Somebody else's.
- 31:04Well, those are the clips.
- 31:05Okay.
- 31:06The clips, not the interviews.
- 31:07The clips.
- 31:10Well, Hiller's clipping them.
- 31:12Yeah.
- 31:13to get the content out.
- 31:16So let me ask you this.
- 31:17Is he,
- 31:18is he trying to show Dave how to
- 31:20make the clips better?
- 31:22Cause Dave is putting out clips, but it is,
- 31:25it is not cut.
- 31:26So it's,
- 31:28it's like taking the full side by
- 31:30side screen.
- 31:31So if I get rid of the plane here.
- 31:34Yeah.
- 31:34Okay.
- 31:36Just like,
- 31:36so Dave is taking this shot
- 31:38right here and just putting
- 31:40it onto Instagram with black space,
- 31:42top and bottom.
- 31:43yeah okay hillar's taking
- 31:45the clips putting them into
- 31:48like one face on the screen
- 31:49at a time back and forth
- 31:52between the speakers
- 31:54putting the words below it
- 31:56and I think it's hillar
- 31:57almost trying to show him
- 32:00that it can be done better um
- 32:07It could be.
- 32:07I mean,
- 32:08my instinct was he was also just
- 32:10trying to say, hey, CrossFit,
- 32:13look at how easy you can get these out.
- 32:17Like this content that you
- 32:19should be producing and
- 32:21putting out is how I'm viewing it.
- 32:24Well, with a little effort,
- 32:25you can make it look a lot
- 32:26better than you are.
- 32:27Yeah, sure.
- 32:28Yeah.
- 32:31Yeah, because when I do a clip,
- 32:33I really try to make it
- 32:33just one face on that real
- 32:35screen at a time.
- 32:37You don't have a lot of
- 32:38side-to-side space.
- 32:40Yeah.
- 32:41And so when it's put up like Castro's,
- 32:45and it's probably someone
- 32:46at CrossFit doing that,
- 32:48those heads are so small
- 32:49you can barely see the person.
- 32:52Like it just, yeah.
- 32:56And Hiller's look way, way better.
- 32:59Yes, agreed.
- 33:01Did you watch Week in Review?
- 33:06No.
- 33:06He sorts the questions now by top comment,
- 33:10meaning it had the most likes.
- 33:12Okay.
- 33:13Everyone that had Hiller in it,
- 33:14he's just skipped over.
- 33:15He goes, nope, not doing that one.
- 33:18Nope, not doing that one.
- 33:19Which I was glad he did it
- 33:22because I don't want it
- 33:23just to be every week a
- 33:24back and forth between him and Hiller.
- 33:26Sure.
- 33:26That's why we tune in to Week in Review.
- 33:29I feel like they just need to, you know,
- 33:31you know what I say about conflict,
- 33:33right?
- 33:35Then increased communication.
- 33:36Yeah.
- 33:37Increased communication.
- 33:37So those two,
- 33:38we need to just get them to talk,
- 33:40get this, this conflict,
- 33:43which is what I said last week.
- 33:45They need to talk.
- 33:47Cat took it to the,
- 33:48they need to hire them.
- 33:49Yeah.
- 33:50All that got clipped and put
- 33:52out on Hiller's channel.
- 33:53Yeah.
- 33:55Um, but I agree.
- 33:57I think they do need to talk.
- 34:02and come to some kind of, um, resolution,
- 34:04but yeah, I think they should.
- 34:06I think they could both
- 34:08really grow from each other.
- 34:11Right.
- 34:12Cause I think a lot of it is
- 34:13just miscommunication.
- 34:20Yeah.
- 34:21We don't have enough time to
- 34:21get into the thing I wanted to say, but,
- 34:24um,
- 34:25cause I have one of those 18 meetings
- 34:27starting in a couple minutes.
- 34:29Okay.
- 34:30But, um,
- 34:35there was supposed to be a
- 34:36cut schedule released by
- 34:37now it still is not
- 34:38released he said it during
- 34:41the Dallin Pepper interview
- 34:42I think on Friday that it
- 34:43was going to be within 24
- 34:44hours we are now on Tuesday
- 34:48I hate cuts I hate them I
- 34:53do too but it does Corbin I agree sorry
- 35:01If you answer the question,
- 35:02you got to show the
- 35:03question or say the question.
- 35:05Okay.
- 35:06The conflict helps growth too.
- 35:08It does.
- 35:09There was actually a moment
- 35:10I thought that they were in cahoots.
- 35:13And I know cahoots is like a
- 35:15term that gets made fun of
- 35:17in the CrossFit space.
- 35:18I felt like Hiller and
- 35:20Castro were playing up the
- 35:22back and forth to grow both channels.
- 35:32So Craig,
- 35:33I don't think they're a necessary
- 35:35evil if you have the right
- 35:3640 athletes at the games,
- 35:39but we have the mistake of
- 35:40not having the right 40
- 35:41athletes at the games.
- 35:44Therefore the cuts become necessary,
- 35:46but we're just making one
- 35:47bad decision on top of
- 35:49another bad decision.
- 35:50So do you think all 40 athletes should be,
- 35:55what I'm hearing is you
- 35:57think all 40 athletes
- 35:58should be all the way through the games?
- 36:01So I said this on the night.
- 36:03The only reason I think a
- 36:04cut should come into play
- 36:06is if your TV contract
- 36:09makes it so you can only do
- 36:10so many heats or timing of
- 36:13it needs to be reduced.
- 36:15But usually that is only on Sunday.
- 36:18So I think if there is cuts,
- 36:20it should be one.
- 36:20It should be for the last day.
- 36:23That's that's what I'm referring to.
- 36:25Yes.
- 36:25Like.
- 36:26And for the necessitated deal,
- 36:30because if you have the
- 36:31right 40 athletes there,
- 36:32the 40th athlete could
- 36:36impact the final standings.
- 36:40Okay.
- 36:41Yeah.
- 36:42So if you look North America
- 36:43East with a deep field,
- 36:45there were people from the
- 36:47first heat finishing in the
- 36:49top five of the last three
- 36:51or four events.
- 36:52Okay.
- 36:52Yeah.
- 36:53So they were impacting the
- 36:54scores by middling between people.
- 37:00And because of that,
- 37:02that's why like Anika Greer
- 37:04dropped and Erica Polo
- 37:07dropped because of that.
- 37:12And then Harley Mom says, don't do cuts,
- 37:19just send less to the games.
- 37:21Again,
- 37:21I think it's just another bad
- 37:22decision to cover up a bad decision.
- 37:25Send the right 40 people to the games.
- 37:28The 40 fittest people in the
- 37:29world to the games.
- 37:36Or just do one person for
- 37:39some of the countries that
- 37:40have shown they don't
- 37:41perform at the games.
- 37:46Gosh, do you remember 2017?
- 37:50You mean 19 with 160?
- 37:51Yes.
- 37:52It was 19.
- 37:53Yes.
- 37:55Yeah.
- 37:57Oh,
- 37:57Dave just dropped a Jeff Adler interview.
- 37:59That should be interesting.
- 38:01Yeah.
- 38:02I think they're good.
- 38:03They've all been good.
- 38:06For sure.
- 38:07I just probably won't be
- 38:08able to get to it until 6
- 38:11o'clock tonight.
- 38:20Yeah.
- 38:21They can no longer blame the
- 38:22other divisions in a busy
- 38:23week for the volunteers and staff,
- 38:25especially next year when
- 38:26they split off teams and do cuts again.
- 38:29So Alpen,
- 38:29do you know something we don't
- 38:30know about splitting off
- 38:31teams or are you just guessing?
- 38:33Anyway.
- 38:44The only thing I got,
- 38:45one nugget I got out of one
- 38:48of the interviews is Dave
- 38:50is solely doing the games programming.
- 38:53Boz is doing the teams programming.
- 38:56Now they do talk about certain things,
- 38:59but each one of them kind
- 39:01of had their role this year.
- 39:03Boz did team, Dave did individual.
- 39:09So now we know it's going to
- 39:12lean more towards a Dave
- 39:13Castro programmed event at
- 39:15the games this year.
- 39:18And he's asking every single
- 39:19person about cycling,
- 39:22which I don't know if
- 39:22that's just a ruse or what.
- 39:30But with that,
- 39:32I have a meeting in six minutes.
- 39:35Yep.
- 39:35You better get to it.
- 39:36We're going to take off,
- 39:37but is the deck done?
- 39:40The deck painting is done.
- 39:42I need to do the trim.
- 39:47Will that be done by next show?
- 39:49Yeah, maybe.
- 39:50Dave said in his interview
- 39:52with Saxon that he's been
- 39:53looking to split off teams for a while.
- 39:56I am betting it happens.
- 39:57Then individuals could also
- 39:58do teams on a separate schedule.
- 40:02Yeah, that's true.
- 40:07Yeah, that was an interesting Q&A.
- 40:09Saxon really went at him
- 40:09with a lot of questions.
- 40:11Yeah, I do have to trim.
- 40:12But Corey, real something real quick.
- 40:14So I have some bushes.
- 40:16I think I've told you guys
- 40:17some bushes that kind of
- 40:19outline the deck.
- 40:20And I've been getting a lot
- 40:21of advice that if I trim those bushes,
- 40:23that it will make the deck
- 40:26look even bigger.
- 40:27So I think we talked about that before.
- 40:29So I'm definitely going to
- 40:31go for that aspect.
- 40:33Nice, nice.
- 40:35So we have some good aesthetics there.
- 40:36And I'll send you some more deck picks,
- 40:38okay?
- 40:39Yeah,
- 40:40and make sure you put some Hock Tooie
- 40:42into that whole process.
- 40:45Yeah.
- 40:46Yep.
- 40:48For sure will.
- 40:49Yeah.
- 40:50All right, guys.
- 40:50All right.
- 40:51Have a good meeting.
- 40:53We will see everybody next
- 40:54time on Clydesdale Media Roundtable.
- 40:56Bye, guys.
