- 0:20Speaker 1: Uh an introduction.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I don't know how do we do an introduction without
- 0:25Speaker 2: the one the only w O O k I e.
- 0:32Speaker 3: U woki introduction?
- 0:33Speaker 4: All right?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Uh well, while we're getting everything set up here, I
- 0:38Speaker 2: did want to ask, have you guys ever watched banana ball?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Nope, never heard of it.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Man, you never heard of banana ball? All right?
- 0:48Speaker 1: I really liked spaceballs. Space ball is good.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I don't think those are the same. But you know,
- 0:55Speaker 2: banana ball is a sport, and it's like a little
- 1:00Speaker 2: more fun version of baseball. They are a little more
- 1:06Speaker 2: wacky and everything.
- 1:07Speaker 1: But is the ball banana shaped? No?
- 1:10Speaker 2: But it is yellow. And there's the Savannah bananas.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I thought they just played baseball.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I mean, it's banana ball.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It's not Oh you mean.
- 1:20Speaker 5: The Savannah Banana's baseball. Yes, I know, I've seen those clips.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's not baseball. It's banana ball.
- 1:27Speaker 5: It's baseball, but more fun and interactive. It's like the
- 1:31Speaker 5: Globetrodders of baseball.
- 1:33Speaker 2: It's an entirely different league with different rules.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Yeah. True.
- 1:39Speaker 2: But anyways, what's going on everybody? I am the one,
- 1:44Speaker 2: the only co H L R A B. I here
- 1:49Speaker 2: with my usual wonderful people minus one misfit. Why you
- 1:57Speaker 2: have to change? You have to ruin my intro as
- 2:00Speaker 2: I'm changing it up. I was about to compilate, I
- 2:05Speaker 2: was about to compliment you, But now I'll say. We
- 2:07Speaker 2: have Dexter, the kid who likes to correct everyone, including
- 2:11Speaker 2: the way I spelled whoops in the show notes.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yep, that is correct, Tell everybody.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And we have Felix, your favorite local Pokemon professor.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Hey, that's cool. We're Pokemon podcast today.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we could talk.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I know a little bit about Pokemon.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I heard there was some controversy lately or something, but
- 2:33Speaker 2: I don't know what.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I actually haven't been paying attention.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Should we should we become a drama podcast? No comment
- 2:45Speaker 2: that we saw from the YouTube?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Why not comment? That's are chaos?
- 2:52Speaker 2: That is about Arcon's Corner though it's not about altered Corner. Yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 2: but it's Uh, it's been been a while since we've
- 3:02Speaker 2: been here. Wookie is dealing with life and work and
- 3:08Speaker 2: all the consequences. But I'm getting laid off, so I'm
- 3:12Speaker 2: basically unemployed and I am here able to talk about
- 3:18Speaker 2: some things. It's been There's been a lot, but we're
- 3:22Speaker 2: gonna We're gonna try to get through some of the
- 3:25Speaker 2: bigger things quickly and then hopefully get to a more
- 3:30Speaker 2: normal schedule by next Friday. Today is Saturday, not our
- 3:36Speaker 2: normal recording time, so we're already a day off after
- 3:41Speaker 2: being two weeks off or however long it was. But
- 3:46Speaker 2: between the then and well, between now and the last
- 3:50Speaker 2: time we talked, we've gone to gen Con. We have,
- 3:56Speaker 2: most of us have gone to Dallas for the first
- 4:01Speaker 2: North American in person World Qualifier for Altered. There has
- 4:08Speaker 2: been as of today, the Swiss rounds of the EU
- 4:13Speaker 2: based time Zone Online Qualifier. We probably won't talk about
- 4:19Speaker 2: that too much in today's episode, will probably recap it
- 4:24Speaker 2: next episode as it's still ongoing. I have to wake
- 4:28Speaker 2: up at seven in the morning tomorrow to do day two.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So tons of fun, but Dexter especially, you went to
- 4:40Speaker 2: gen Con for the first time, right.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Yes, this was the first time I went to gen Con.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I was pretty much at the Altered area the whole time, though, yep.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I have never attended gen Con as an actual attendee,
- 4:55Speaker 2: have have you? Felix jen Con?
- 4:58Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:58Speaker 6: Well last year well actually no, not in it's and
- 5:02Speaker 6: t I've always just worked at gen Con.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah. So the three of us have always worked at
- 5:09Speaker 2: gen Con but never actually gone to gen Con, so
- 5:11Speaker 2: this will be a fun little inside scoop. I wanted
- 5:18Speaker 2: to ask Dexter some questions and put him on the
- 5:22Speaker 2: spot because I wasn't we weren't entirely sure if Felix
- 5:27Speaker 2: was gonna make it. But Felix is here now, he
- 5:30Speaker 2: is more experienced, So we're gonna put Dexter on the
- 5:35Speaker 2: spot first. How was your first gen Con and what
- 5:39Speaker 2: did you do?
- 5:40Speaker 3: Dexter?
- 5:42Speaker 5: I did nothing outside of Altered. It was a lot
- 5:44Speaker 5: of fun. It was a lot of walking. I was
- 5:49Speaker 5: very tired even by like the third day, but I
- 5:52Speaker 5: enjoyed it. I got to see a few booths and
- 5:55Speaker 5: like RPG stuff, but I didn't really check out anything
- 5:59Speaker 5: other than Altered and a few other card games. I
- 6:03Speaker 5: looked at Universes and uh rish Bound as well.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Though.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah, what did you do at gen Con?
- 6:09Speaker 3: Though?
- 6:09Speaker 2: Why were you there?
- 6:11Speaker 5: I was only there for Altered, So I was judging
- 6:13Speaker 5: Altered for four days?
- 6:16Speaker 1: Uh so right? Four days?
- 6:19Speaker 2: What was it?
- 6:19Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Right? Or Thursday through Sunday? Yeah?
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, Wednesday was just training, but technically we were there.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Wednesday, Yeah, so judging there pretty much every day, sticking
- 6:33Speaker 5: with the altered crew, demoing and judging drafts and bigger events.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yep.
- 6:40Speaker 2: In the notes here, you've also added a bullet for
- 6:43Speaker 2: the main one v one top decks. Do you have all?
- 6:45Speaker 3: Oh?
- 6:46Speaker 1: I don't have those decks. I thought you had all
- 6:48Speaker 1: deck information.
- 6:50Speaker 5: I wanted to go over what with the winning decks
- 6:53Speaker 5: were there for the big event at gen Con. I
- 6:56Speaker 5: I'll have to go grab my notebook here in a second,
- 6:59Speaker 5: and then i'll.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I will say the top two were Novenka.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Yeah, big, Like was it fifty people tournament that we
- 7:06Speaker 5: had at gen Con?
- 7:08Speaker 1: Just a regular constructive event we had there.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I thought it was like thirty eight is where it landed. Okay,
- 7:16Speaker 2: but maybe that was the other standard event. I will
- 7:21Speaker 2: go grab my note book and see how much I
- 7:24Speaker 2: was able to scribble down while I do that. Felix,
- 7:29Speaker 2: what did you do at gen Con?
- 7:32Speaker 3: At gen Con this year?
- 7:34Speaker 6: I was helping out with the Altar booths as well,
- 7:37Speaker 6: and that was responsible in the learn to play section,
- 7:42Speaker 6: which is what I'm usually been doing the past year
- 7:45Speaker 6: or so at the conventions.
- 7:47Speaker 3: So I felt right at home.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yeah. I also helped out a good bit.
- 7:53Speaker 5: At the demo wing table, I was mainly judging drafts,
- 7:57Speaker 5: so you know, break it out into pods of six
- 7:59Speaker 5: to eight and just help manage those little draft pods.
- 8:03Speaker 5: But I helped out in the demo areas while teaching
- 8:06Speaker 5: some new players how to play.
- 8:08Speaker 6: I got really into it to the point that Simon
- 8:10Speaker 6: had to kick me out because I wasn't taking my breaks.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yeah, Simon was making sure that everyone had plenty of
- 8:17Speaker 5: breaks time and that we all had at least two
- 8:19Speaker 5: hours of break every day, which you know, I was
- 8:22Speaker 5: working in and he's like, nope, you have.
- 8:23Speaker 1: To leave, which is kind of funny.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's very nice. Two hours of breaks
- 8:31Speaker 2: did kind of feel like too much at certain points, Yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 2: but when you've done like the opposite, it's super nice
- 8:42Speaker 2: to have those two different one hour breaks to be
- 8:46Speaker 2: able to, you know, use your first break to get lunch,
- 8:50Speaker 2: eat or whatever and not have to hurry too much,
- 8:54Speaker 2: and then your second you can have a little more
- 8:58Speaker 2: look around the convention center and get to actually see things.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I think the year I did were.
- 9:07Speaker 6: That's what I did during most of my brains as well,
- 9:09Speaker 6: just visit some of the other booths, I work with
- 9:12Speaker 6: some of the staff from the other booths that I've
- 9:14Speaker 6: worked with before, as well, saying hi to a bunch
- 9:17Speaker 6: of familiar faces, being called a trader here and there.
- 9:22Speaker 5: The Universes people were not very happy with you switching games.
- 9:27Speaker 6: I'll be working with Universes and Packs Unplugged, so that's
- 9:30Speaker 6: already said at this point. But it was fun seeing
- 9:35Speaker 6: familiar faces.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 5: I was able to walk around to the booths, check
- 9:40Speaker 5: out the Ghost Galaxy booth, and there are two new
- 9:44Speaker 5: games they're making as well as Key Forge, Echo of
- 9:48Speaker 5: Omens and Lord of the Rings game.
- 9:50Speaker 1: They're both new games. They'll probably be interesting.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Universes.
- 9:55Speaker 6: I checked rip Bound, I checked Pokemon, I checked a
- 9:58Speaker 6: bunch of really random here and there. I didn't stay
- 10:02Speaker 6: very long for a lot of the demos from all
- 10:04Speaker 6: the other games.
- 10:04Speaker 3: It was mostly just hanging out saying hi, Yeah, I
- 10:08Speaker 3: just have to I.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Mean, it's kind of a side note, but I I
- 10:14Speaker 2: as what I've seen and what you told me and
- 10:17Speaker 2: what I read about Echoes of Omens. I don't see
- 10:23Speaker 2: its draw or I don't see it lasting very long, unless,
- 10:28Speaker 2: like when they announce more stuff, there's something else to it,
- 10:32Speaker 2: because honestly, just looking at it and reading about it,
- 10:35Speaker 2: it just looked like a a version of Gwent, which
- 10:41Speaker 2: people really like Gwent, But I mean Gwent already exists, so.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I don't know what Gwent is.
- 10:47Speaker 5: I think the draw is going to be a lot
- 10:49Speaker 5: more retired net Runner players, yeah, because you know, that
- 10:54Speaker 5: game was big for a while, and even after the
- 10:57Speaker 5: game stopped being produced, the community stuck around. But it's
- 11:00Speaker 5: mostly fizzled out now from what I know. But now
- 11:03Speaker 5: Echo of Omens is kind of similar to Netrunner, so
- 11:07Speaker 5: maybe it'll see a lot of those kinds of players
- 11:09Speaker 5: and people that played it way back when.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that is what's interesting is Netrunner is still active
- 11:20Speaker 2: and there will also be the World Championship in October.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I have no idea, like if they put anything out
- 11:32Speaker 2: at all. I know that there was some kind of
- 11:38Speaker 2: you know, resurgence, and there is actually a little little
- 11:41Speaker 2: group at my local game store that plays it. But
- 11:48Speaker 2: that that is maybe a good point because it's like
- 11:51Speaker 2: the asymmetrical gameplay, right, yes, yeah, so I don't know, maybe,
- 11:58Speaker 2: but that's a different card game for a different podcast,
- 12:05Speaker 2: I guess. I am also included in being at gen Con.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I was also one of the judges, and then I
- 12:16Speaker 2: will admit I try to help out with demos as
- 12:19Speaker 2: little as possible because my voice just cannot do it
- 12:26Speaker 2: and it'll kill my voice very quickly. But Felix was
- 12:30Speaker 2: definitely the superstar of the Learn to Play and Dexter
- 12:35Speaker 2: ran so many drafts as a judge, which honestly is
- 12:42Speaker 2: sometimes kind of the harder one to judge because you'll
- 12:47Speaker 2: get a lot more questions than constructed.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I don't know, I feel like the Starter Deck Challenge
- 12:53Speaker 1: had a lot more questions than the drafts would, even
- 12:56Speaker 1: just because they're new players. We had we did have
- 12:59Speaker 1: a lot of new players this weekend and the first
- 13:03Speaker 1: two days it was it was somewhat frustrating having to
- 13:06Speaker 1: teach all of these people how to play when they
- 13:08Speaker 1: were like playing in the drafting events. You like, maybe
- 13:12Speaker 1: learn the rules a little bit before showing up to
- 13:14Speaker 1: play in a tournament.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Yeah, there were a lot of players going straight from
- 13:18Speaker 6: Learn to Play straight to drafting, and that was that
- 13:21Speaker 6: was cool, but chaotic, but cool.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I I you're probably right. There are even more
- 13:30Speaker 2: questions in the Starter Deck tournament, but they are also
- 13:34Speaker 2: only set one, so I mean at least myself. I've
- 13:39Speaker 2: demoed those demo decks so many times that there's not
- 13:44Speaker 2: a question that can come up I don't already know
- 13:46Speaker 2: the answer to. But with things like the Chaos draft,
- 13:51Speaker 2: I know for sure that there's some interaction where I
- 13:54Speaker 2: would have to double check or something before just knowing
- 13:59Speaker 2: the answer or one hundred weren't.
- 14:00Speaker 5: For me in any of the drafts, which was great,
- 14:03Speaker 5: but it definitely could have happened.
- 14:05Speaker 6: We sold out of starter decks straight from going through
- 14:08Speaker 6: to learn to plays and so on. Lots of people
- 14:11Speaker 6: going to BGA, so lots of people creating their altered accounts.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it is. It is very awesome to see how
- 14:20Speaker 2: quickly people connect with the game and they'll do a
- 14:23Speaker 2: learn to play and then jump right into whatever else
- 14:26Speaker 2: they can. We also, basically every convention have at least
- 14:31Speaker 2: like two or three people that they had almost no
- 14:35Speaker 2: idea what the game was. They came and learned it,
- 14:37Speaker 2: and then they come back like every day for another event.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Like Felix said, sold out of starter decks every single convention.
- 14:47Speaker 2: We always sell out of starter decks, even before the
- 14:51Speaker 2: last day, and no matter how many times we tell
- 14:55Speaker 2: people to send more they're like, ah, you don't need
- 14:57Speaker 2: that man anymore. Every time, they said every time. But
- 15:04Speaker 2: one of the other things going on was a two
- 15:10Speaker 2: v two tournament, which has become kind of like a
- 15:16Speaker 2: small little cult following of an event. There's a group
- 15:20Speaker 2: of players like Infinite and his wife, a guy trying
- 15:26Speaker 2: even all of the marbles. I think usually competes in
- 15:30Speaker 2: the TV twos as well. Dax sometimes, like I think,
- 15:36Speaker 2: drives to a convention just to play in a couple events,
- 15:42Speaker 2: but I think this one maybe missed the TWOV two. Anyways,
- 15:46Speaker 2: real quick rundown of those decks if you're interested. These
- 15:50Speaker 2: are teams so Tasia and Traced, Siggy and a Fauness,
- 15:58Speaker 2: Lindy and Siggy, Waru and Our June, Saudi and Bassira,
- 16:06Speaker 2: Siggy and Waru, ur Rock and a Fawness and Bassira
- 16:12Speaker 2: and Akesha and I think the Warrio and the r
- 16:17Speaker 2: Jun one I'm ninety percent sure that they they won.
- 16:26Speaker 2: The war deck was very interesting, or there's another Warrio.
- 16:31Speaker 2: It might have been the Sigi and Waru.
- 16:33Speaker 1: All I know is did get first place?
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that that sounds more like it now that uh.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Wars.
- 16:42Speaker 2: There was a war in Our June and then Siggy
- 16:45Speaker 2: and wars Okay, I think it was Yeah, it was
- 16:49Speaker 2: the Ciggy and Warrio. But for the big, big constructed event,
- 16:56Speaker 2: I think I have the top eight and then the
- 17:00Speaker 2: hero breakdown. So I'll try to rattle rattle through this
- 17:05Speaker 2: super quick. Uh. There were two traced players to Basira
- 17:10Speaker 2: one Tasia to a Faunis three Novenka, one goal Ring
- 17:17Speaker 2: two Lindaway three, Sigismar one Fen four Kojo one Subash
- 17:25Speaker 2: to Our June one Sierra three at Sadi and one
- 17:31Speaker 2: Rin and the conversion to top eight was Siggi Otsadi
- 17:38Speaker 2: Asira a Faunas Our June Asira, Novenka Novenka, and the
- 17:46Speaker 2: finals was a Novenka mirror match, which is actually on
- 17:52Speaker 2: the a Wall YouTube if you want to go rewatch
- 17:58Speaker 2: most of it. Oh because the phone.
- 18:00Speaker 1: The phone iPhone died at the end.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, but two very good Navenka decks going head
- 18:06Speaker 2: to head, so was pretty cool. And some of those players,
- 18:11Speaker 2: I think maybe only two went to Dallas. I think
- 18:16Speaker 2: night Song, well no for three four. I think like
- 18:20Speaker 2: four or five of those top eight went to Dallas,
- 18:23Speaker 2: so that's also cool.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Really, I didn't realize was that many.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and I.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Was most surprised by there being so many r Junes
- 18:32Speaker 1: and what is this two r Junes? Yep, uh, one
- 18:37Speaker 1: of them seen r June.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Like ever, I should really find out what her discord
- 18:43Speaker 2: name is. I'm not even sure if she's in the discord.
- 18:46Speaker 2: But Infinite's wife played our June for a lot of
- 18:53Speaker 2: gen Con and then also in Dallas, and I think
- 18:57Speaker 2: after Dallas she was like, all right, time, it's time
- 19:00Speaker 2: to give up on our June and maybe go back
- 19:04Speaker 2: to Tasia. So mm hmm uh, yeah, we're we're kind
- 19:09Speaker 2: of flying through it here because it was two weeks
- 19:14Speaker 2: ago now two and a half three, I don't even
- 19:16Speaker 2: know where we're at. And uh, we're also going to
- 19:19Speaker 2: talk about Dallas. But Felix and or Dexter, was there
- 19:26Speaker 2: anything else that stood out to you guys as this
- 19:28Speaker 2: was your first time working with altered for gen Con.
- 19:33Speaker 3: For fun, talking was fun talking to Francois, Yeah, that
- 19:37Speaker 3: was cool.
- 19:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it was cool seeing Loki and Francois there for sure,
- 19:41Speaker 5: seeing all the Equinox stuff. Just hanging out with people
- 19:45Speaker 5: was fun.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:47Speaker 5: We got a new Halluah token and got people got
- 19:52Speaker 5: those six oversized cards to various ways.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Yeah, four of them were given away at gen Con
- 19:59Speaker 2: and and then two were not claimed Moyo and Cowie.
- 20:03Speaker 2: And those were given out at Dallas because Justin was
- 20:08Speaker 2: at gen Con and then also was that Dallas. Justin
- 20:13Speaker 2: is currently the He used to be like the Organized
- 20:17Speaker 2: Play Director of North America, but then his title changed
- 20:21Speaker 2: to like Marketing Director of North America. Either way, super
- 20:27Speaker 2: cool dude was also there, also, great to talk to. Yeah,
- 20:32Speaker 2: it was great to meet Francois. That was my first
- 20:34Speaker 2: time meeting him as well. It's really cool to talk
- 20:37Speaker 2: to the game designers. We did get to I think
- 20:41Speaker 2: all three of us got to see some Skybound Odyssey cards, right, Yes,
- 20:46Speaker 2: I did.
- 20:47Speaker 6: I did not know Felix. You see, you were I
- 20:52Speaker 6: was learning to play. I was learned to play. I
- 20:54Speaker 6: was teaching seven people at a time. Sometimes it was like, yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 6: I was busy, Yeah you were.
- 21:00Speaker 2: You were too hooked into it. But the game, the
- 21:04Speaker 2: game was better off for it. And we we won't
- 21:09Speaker 2: go into why you had to work so much harder,
- 21:13Speaker 2: but yeah, you did a great job.
- 21:16Speaker 3: So I had a ton of fun doing it.
- 21:19Speaker 6: So yes, when it comes to conventions, and stuff like that.
- 21:24Speaker 6: The learned to plays have always been something that I
- 21:26Speaker 6: enjoy the most.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that is good to hear. I wish we
- 21:32Speaker 2: could have done some more like stream stuff. It's it's
- 21:36Speaker 2: a lot harder than I think people realize. And the
- 21:41Speaker 2: companies that you see actually do like live streams from
- 21:46Speaker 2: gen Con and things like that, they are spending a
- 21:51Speaker 2: lot of money, are a very specific stream setup area
- 21:57Speaker 2: and with altered it's usual. Our entire area is all
- 22:02Speaker 2: four games, like all the time. Like at any one time,
- 22:07Speaker 2: there's always learned to plays going. There's probably two different drafts,
- 22:11Speaker 2: sometimes three. Very often there was a starter deck tournament
- 22:16Speaker 2: or two at a time, and then off and on
- 22:20Speaker 2: it was either two v two or a standard tournament
- 22:24Speaker 2: that was also happening. The only time there wasn't all
- 22:30Speaker 2: of those running at once was when the standard tournaments
- 22:33Speaker 2: didn't fire at certain periods. We also talked with you know,
- 22:40Speaker 2: Justin and Loki about how things went and what changes
- 22:45Speaker 2: we would make. The really hard thing is for gen Con,
- 22:49Speaker 2: you have to submit your events so far in advance
- 22:53Speaker 2: that anything we learned from previous conventions couldn't be enabled.
- 23:02Speaker 2: So and there's the Wookie.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I the Wookie has arrived.
- 23:08Speaker 2: What is that.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Power and internet that today is.
- 23:13Speaker 3: He can do the actual intro half way through?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Yees.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Yeah, So these storms are crazy, guys, Banana ramas all
- 23:29Speaker 4: the crazy. I'm all done with that. If y'all would
- 23:34Speaker 4: like to take away these storms.
- 23:35Speaker 2: And I mean, I was gonna say storm in Texas today,
- 23:41Speaker 2: not in my area, which means it is coming to me.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Next, I'm told, And I don't know because I don't
- 23:46Speaker 4: pay attention, and so I guess y'all could tell me.
- 23:50Speaker 4: I know you guys are talking probably about gen Con
- 23:52Speaker 4: and the w c q's and all that good stuff. Yep,
- 23:54Speaker 4: I'm told that my little small town where I live
- 23:59Speaker 4: has been on the news lately. I don't want because
- 24:03Speaker 4: of the all of our storms and all that jazz.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I'm gonna go with no because nobody everybody's like, yeah,
- 24:12Speaker 4: I haven't seen anything.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Yeah I do. I do not watch the general news either.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's it was crazy. So I'll give and
- 24:21Speaker 4: see you this story. So I was I was driving
- 24:24Speaker 4: down it's called Highway Q right. It's just because I
- 24:30Speaker 4: live in the sticks kind of. I live in Milwaukee.
- 24:32Speaker 4: But I'm I'm in a more rule part of Milwaukee,
- 24:36Speaker 4: right and it's a highway called Highway Q. Well, it
- 24:39Speaker 4: was underwater. The whole highway was underwater. That's where like
- 24:44Speaker 4: all of our like your McDonald's is there, Your Burger
- 24:48Speaker 4: King's there, like all your fast food and kind of
- 24:51Speaker 4: a couple sit down places. They're all shut down.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Oh what about a waffle house?
- 24:55Speaker 4: Though I don't have waffle house?
- 24:58Speaker 2: Sorry, but okay, I was gonna say, if you have
- 25:01Speaker 2: a waffle house and it was shut down, then we
- 25:04Speaker 2: know it's like true apocalypse times.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Does Denny's count Nah? No, probably get a.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Waffle house tier level storms.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Yep, yeah, yeah, nothing here. Yeah, It's it's crazy. The
- 25:26Speaker 4: river is like all the way to the street right
- 25:29Speaker 4: like and it's I mean, you're talking. That's I would
- 25:35Speaker 4: put it in feet, but I don't even know like
- 25:37Speaker 4: how to put it, Like that's hundreds and hundreds of
- 25:40Speaker 4: feet the river away from the road and now it's
- 25:43Speaker 4: all the way to the road. Roads are shut down,
- 25:46Speaker 4: businesses are shut down. And finally we had like a
- 25:50Speaker 4: couple of days of reprieve and then it came back.
- 25:54Speaker 4: It's that sounds like.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Great.
- 25:59Speaker 4: It was like three days and things were finally getting
- 26:02Speaker 4: back to normal, and then it was like, well, pulled
- 26:04Speaker 4: my beer and it came back.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Well, we're glad that you're here with us.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Now.
- 26:11Speaker 2: We were just about at the end of gen Con,
- 26:15Speaker 2: but now we can go totally off the rails and
- 26:18Speaker 2: not have any structure and have a ton chaos by
- 26:24Speaker 2: asking you. As a quick side note, we did talk
- 26:28Speaker 2: a little bit about Echoes of Omens because Dexter spent
- 26:32Speaker 2: some of his free time to check it out. To me, sure,
- 26:36Speaker 2: from what he showed and what I read in the
- 26:40Speaker 2: Arcons Corner discord, it does not have anything like exciting
- 26:45Speaker 2: or out of the ordinary, and it's a new IP
- 26:49Speaker 2: and it's like generic fantasy. To me, it looks like
- 26:52Speaker 2: a not as interesting gwent so far.
- 26:58Speaker 4: So if you know, I haven't gotten too. I didn't
- 27:01Speaker 4: get to do anything with it. For it, I had
- 27:04Speaker 4: requested like some demo decks from Jeremy who is there
- 27:13Speaker 4: their quote unquote marketing guy Jeremy recording this right because
- 27:17Speaker 4: you'll say, I don't Jeremy one. Jeremy Jeremy two is
- 27:22Speaker 4: the guy who worked very heavily on Star Wars Universe yep. So,
- 27:32Speaker 4: and you know hearing about it, I was like, I'll
- 27:34Speaker 4: give it a shot. You know, I'm a card game player, right, Yeah,
- 27:38Speaker 4: Felix probably understands the itch to like, oh new card game,
- 27:41Speaker 4: I'll give it a shot. Yeah. Right. And then I
- 27:46Speaker 4: was told, uh, like that there's not really a shareable
- 27:51Speaker 4: rules thing yet. Oh that's good, and they're not sending
- 27:59Speaker 4: didn't feel it be worth to send us anything right now,
- 28:02Speaker 4: even though you know we've known and worked and done
- 28:04Speaker 4: a lot with these guys since like the beginning. But
- 28:08Speaker 4: he's going to reach out, you know, when they have something.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I guess it's a matter of when
- 28:15Speaker 2: they are expecting to launch their game Found. Well, whatever they.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Do, Game Found I think is going to launch at
- 28:24Speaker 4: the end of this year. For that, I think.
- 28:28Speaker 2: If you're launching a game Found at the end of
- 28:31Speaker 2: this year, you should probably maybe.
- 28:34Speaker 4: Have how I was going to say, it's not how FFG,
- 28:38Speaker 4: that's not how gig works, as much as I say
- 28:44Speaker 4: that's just there vary by the seat of their pants. Yeah, right,
- 28:49Speaker 4: like this is. I don't want to say it's not
- 28:51Speaker 4: well thought out and well done or anything like that.
- 28:54Speaker 4: It might be I know certain things that I can't
- 28:59Speaker 4: share because of what I've heard from other people. I
- 29:04Speaker 4: don't know, I want to give away, like, oh, here's
- 29:06Speaker 4: here's what I know, and then they can find that person.
- 29:08Speaker 4: But it's been testing for about a ish. Let's see,
- 29:15Speaker 4: what was KFC last year. That was November, right, so
- 29:19Speaker 4: at least eight months, and that's kind of it. Like
- 29:26Speaker 4: it's gone through many iterations. I've heard things like this
- 29:30Speaker 4: is very much like uh Android Netrunner, Yeah, which was
- 29:37Speaker 4: another one of CTPS or Christian T. Peterson's games that
- 29:43Speaker 4: they came out with long ago. It just I don't know,
- 29:48Speaker 4: it's just it's again the dudes had a history, right,
- 29:54Speaker 4: and it's not if you know anything about Fantasy flight games,
- 29:59Speaker 4: it's not great. Yeah, I mean if that makes sense.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yeah, to bring it full circle, background to Altered, they
- 30:11Speaker 2: were doing road shows before the Kickstarter was even live.
- 30:15Speaker 4: And I part of the marketing, right.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I know before that even they were testing with
- 30:22Speaker 2: people at conventions and I think there was like a
- 30:26Speaker 2: little preview thing at the Gen Con before the Kickstarter.
- 30:32Speaker 2: And then yeah, they did the road shows because I
- 30:34Speaker 2: did road shows leading up to the Kickstarter, and I
- 30:38Speaker 2: think as early as that time they had had the
- 30:42Speaker 2: demo decks or the starter decks available to be printed
- 30:48Speaker 2: and anyone could play, and they were also on TTS
- 30:50Speaker 2: and Riftbound is doing the exact same thing. Like Riftbound's
- 30:54Speaker 2: been on TTS for like a year now.
- 30:56Speaker 4: I feel like, yeah, yeah, yeah, So I mean that's
- 31:03Speaker 4: interesting gen Con I I didn't go the main thing
- 31:08Speaker 4: I did, you know, if you know anything, CTP used
- 31:11Speaker 4: to own Fantasy Flight Games before he was offered a
- 31:16Speaker 4: truck of money and then he sold it, so you know,
- 31:22Speaker 4: then he stayed on as the whatever like the head
- 31:29Speaker 4: of Fantasy Flight Games and then eventually left the form
- 31:33Speaker 4: Ghost Galaxy, which is you know now what it is.
- 31:36Speaker 4: So it's just it's it's it's a lot of stuff
- 31:41Speaker 4: that comes out, and I compare it a lot too
- 31:43Speaker 4: altered just because of the size of the teams, and
- 31:46Speaker 4: it's like you see what one size of the team
- 31:48Speaker 4: is able to accomplish, and you see what a very
- 31:55Speaker 4: similar sized team is able to accomplish. And it runs
- 31:59Speaker 4: into very very interesting like things of how how teams
- 32:03Speaker 4: are led and what they consider important and what they
- 32:07Speaker 4: can what they consider I guess again they are not important, right.
- 32:15Speaker 4: It's it's two very different things which is very interesting
- 32:19Speaker 4: to watch because there are two very similar teams. You know,
- 32:22Speaker 4: there may be a person or two between them. You know,
- 32:26Speaker 4: this has one person that says, you know, one more,
- 32:29Speaker 4: one less. But in the end, they're very two similar
- 32:32Speaker 4: sized teams and you have one one area. You know,
- 32:36Speaker 4: quite con I forgot, and I know you guys are
- 32:38Speaker 4: getting into that. How many people did you guys have
- 32:40Speaker 4: at the w c Q at quite kind I thought
- 32:42Speaker 4: I heard like sixty something?
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yeah, actually yeah, actual competitors. I think we were supposed
- 32:48Speaker 2: to have like sixty to sixty three, but we had
- 32:55Speaker 2: some uh some things going on that we'll we'll talk
- 33:00Speaker 2: about when we get there. But yeah, and the winner
- 33:05Speaker 2: of that event gets a paid trip to Paris for
- 33:09Speaker 2: the world. So we're what.
- 33:13Speaker 4: We're No, it was today that got the top two,
- 33:15Speaker 4: right as I was saying it was today, the top
- 33:17Speaker 4: two today? Is the hasn't finished? Yes, yeah, well, I
- 33:22Speaker 4: mean yeah, I wouldn't imagine it did because it was
- 33:25Speaker 4: like twelve hundred players, right, yep, eleven fifty I think yep.
- 33:31Speaker 2: If you are not if you're not counting drops, yeah,
- 33:35Speaker 2: it was one something. But top cut is tomorrow.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, how many when you count you always
- 33:40Speaker 4: go from start of day, right, So.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of people, a lot, yes, And I
- 33:49Speaker 2: was saying, we'll probably dive more in depth into that
- 33:54Speaker 2: event on the next episode since it's still finishing. But
- 33:57Speaker 2: all things considered, with that many people all on board
- 34:02Speaker 2: Game Arena for the biggest tournament and event board game
- 34:06Speaker 2: arena has ever seen, all things considered, it went pretty well.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Nothing crashed, huh uh crashed?
- 34:15Speaker 2: No, lagged a little bit, yes, but I mean, I mean,
- 34:19Speaker 2: we take it.
- 34:21Speaker 4: It lagged a little bit. You will lay out one
- 34:24Speaker 4: thousand percent take over like oh the whole site shut down? Oops? Yeah,
- 34:30Speaker 4: because that happens too.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 2: I thought I had the chellonge for the Dallas event,
- 34:39Speaker 2: but I left the discord. Are you still in there, Dexter?
- 34:43Speaker 1: I left the discord as well.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I just there's been so many discords for all
- 34:48Speaker 2: the tournaments that I left it. But while while we're talking,
- 34:53Speaker 2: I'll see if I can find it. Then we can
- 34:55Speaker 2: get some exact numbers. But yeah, uh, we well, Dexter
- 35:02Speaker 2: and I were there. Felix abandoned us for some pigs
- 35:08Speaker 2: or something, for.
- 35:09Speaker 7: Some responsible animals. Yeah, yeah, dropped to me on last notice.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Yeah, So I got there Friday night at like five pm.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Coal and Blue had already pretty much finished setting up
- 35:29Speaker 5: all the streaming set up, so I was able to
- 35:31Speaker 5: be there, hang out, watch a draft, and then play
- 35:35Speaker 5: with Cole's weird, terrible deck that he drafted.
- 35:39Speaker 1: It was a cube, right, A draft.
- 35:43Speaker 2: That was the unique Clube.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Yeah, unique Cube draft with Cari.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 5: Yeah, so I played Yours was an RRAC that it
- 35:52Speaker 5: triggered like maybe once every game it was not.
- 35:54Speaker 1: It was not going.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Good bad.
- 36:03Speaker 4: The didn't.
- 36:07Speaker 2: You don't play would you don't play draft to win?
- 36:10Speaker 2: You played draft to have fun.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Your deck was very interesting and there were a few
- 36:16Speaker 5: times where I got some good lines out, but it
- 36:19Speaker 5: did not do anything crazy good.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Well, it was definitely a interesting cube. It was not
- 36:33Speaker 2: a normal cube. It's pretty much bonkers because it is.
- 36:40Speaker 1: It's yeah, like a high.
- 36:44Speaker 2: High amount of uniques, which was a ton of fun
- 36:48Speaker 2: just reading through the uniques. But I rejoined the discord
- 36:53Speaker 2: to see if I could find the challenge and I
- 36:56Speaker 2: got it. It's not challenge though, it's melee, same thing,
- 37:00Speaker 2: much different. Now I'll leave it again and everyone will
- 37:02Speaker 2: be like what are you doing? But yeah, Dallas, I
- 37:06Speaker 2: got to the convention center I think I like two
- 37:12Speaker 2: pm or something, and was just kind of helping set up.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I have never I had never been to the gay
- 37:21Speaker 2: Lord Resort before. It is super nice and it is expensive,
- 37:30Speaker 2: but not like outrageously expensive. I think it was in September,
- 37:36Speaker 2: like three hundred and twenty a night or something.
- 37:40Speaker 1: To actually stay there.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, which is for like it being a resort.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Was pretty cool. The parking, my god, the parking.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Parking was awful.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Screwed me. I literally have to sell party day whatever.
- 37:57Speaker 2: I found out that Skeeter was able to get validation
- 38:03Speaker 2: for one day and he had to like ask someone
- 38:07Speaker 2: about it and they're like, we're not really supposed to,
- 38:09Speaker 2: but uh yeah, here you go. And I kept I
- 38:12Speaker 2: kept thinking how I really wanted to figure out if
- 38:15Speaker 2: they would freaking validate us, and I just I just
- 38:20Speaker 2: didn't end up doing it. I was also sick the
- 38:23Speaker 2: whole time, which was great. So if you watched the
- 38:27Speaker 2: stream back, you can definitely tell I'm struggling. I'm glad
- 38:31Speaker 2: that people couldn't tell as much as I thought that
- 38:34Speaker 2: my nose was just red and raw, because people were like, oh,
- 38:38Speaker 2: I couldn't even tell and I'm like, well, I felt
- 38:41Speaker 2: like I looked like absolute shit.
- 38:43Speaker 4: So thanks, Yeah, you couldn't tell I got I didn't
- 38:47Speaker 4: get into the till the top eight was streaming, and
- 38:54Speaker 4: then I was kind of, you know, poking around back
- 38:59Speaker 4: and forth because I not only was I was doing that,
- 39:01Speaker 4: I was also trying to get some other stuff done.
- 39:05Speaker 4: But yeah, now you didn't I couldn't tell you were sick.
- 39:10Speaker 4: I was kind of like, God, what's going on with call? Like,
- 39:13Speaker 4: is the little camera making them a little shy? Yeah,
- 39:16Speaker 4: you know, it happens, you know, a little camera shy.
- 39:19Speaker 4: And then when you're like, yeah, I'm not feeling good,
- 39:21Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, that might actually makes way more sense.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but we made it through. I did find the melee.
- 39:30Speaker 2: It looks like we ended up with sixty one people
- 39:34Speaker 2: being actually put into the bracket, but that's.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Not what happened. No, what do you mean because the
- 39:45Speaker 1: security thing?
- 39:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so there there are people who didn't really play,
- 39:53Speaker 2: and I am very sorry to I believe. I don't
- 39:58Speaker 2: want to say the user name wrong, but I'm pretty
- 40:03Speaker 2: sure it's n Panzi's. Yeah, Nanzis I think they were
- 40:09Speaker 2: they were leaving because of what happened, and they were
- 40:14Speaker 2: trying to find me to say hi, but it was
- 40:16Speaker 2: one of the moments where I was going to the
- 40:18Speaker 2: bathroom to blow my nose, and I think I missed them,
- 40:21Speaker 2: So I'm sorry. And the event, dexter, did you did
- 40:29Speaker 2: you hear full information on that?
- 40:32Speaker 1: Nope? I never actually understood what was going on. I
- 40:35Speaker 1: heard bomb threat at one point.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Yeah, so every everyone was fine? What Yeah, I did
- 40:44Speaker 2: hear every Everyone inside the center was fine. It was
- 40:49Speaker 2: seemingly like everything was normal from what we could tell,
- 40:54Speaker 2: but people who didn't arrive early enough in advance, it.
- 41:01Speaker 5: Was like after nine to forty that this happened, so
- 41:04Speaker 5: like twenty minutes before the tournament started.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we started getting some messages in discord and it
- 41:12Speaker 2: started with like there's a really big security line and
- 41:16Speaker 2: it's not moving, and from every other time we had
- 41:20Speaker 2: gone through security, it was like incredibly fast because this
- 41:23Speaker 2: is not this is not like a gen Con or something.
- 41:26Speaker 2: It was to bring your own computer event basically. And
- 41:31Speaker 2: then you know, there were I think four players that
- 41:34Speaker 2: had to miss at least one game, maybe two, and
- 41:39Speaker 2: Dorvian might be able to tell us how many games
- 41:43Speaker 2: they missed because unfortunately.
- 41:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I know Nancy and Panzi's didn't get there until
- 41:52Speaker 5: like the middle of round.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Three, Okay, Yeah, and it's very unfortunate. I wish I
- 41:59Speaker 2: would have been able to to talk to them before
- 42:02Speaker 2: they left. I know it's upsetting, and I get why
- 42:05Speaker 2: they left, but if they came up from Houston. And
- 42:11Speaker 2: also I'm pretty sure she got a bye so before
- 42:16Speaker 2: being dropped, I think she was one and two. I
- 42:19Speaker 2: would have been like, just play and try to get
- 42:22Speaker 2: top thirty two, because then you know, you'll get some
- 42:26Speaker 2: stuff from top thirty two. But yeah, I guess we
- 42:30Speaker 2: found out a little later that there was a bomb threat,
- 42:32Speaker 2: and the only thing that we saw inside is they
- 42:37Speaker 2: also brought the dogs around, and they stopped by like
- 42:42Speaker 2: the casting area for a little bit and the dog
- 42:45Speaker 2: was sniffing around. Someone said, I really hope that someone
- 42:51Speaker 2: in this tournament didn't, you know, call in a bomb
- 42:55Speaker 2: threat to get an advantage, which would be.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Insane, that would be crazy.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but but we will we will never know, and
- 43:06Speaker 2: and Dorvian said, yeah, they lost two rounds almost three
- 43:12Speaker 2: fifty seconds left on the clock, so yeah, rather unfortunate.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I'm not sure if they would have been there like
- 43:22Speaker 2: thirty or forty minutes earlier. It wouldn't have been an
- 43:25Speaker 2: issue because everyone inside everything was fine, operating as normal.
- 43:31Speaker 4: Yep, yeah, this is one of those weird situations. Now, Dexter,
- 43:38Speaker 4: you've now seen it both ways, right, Well, you've seen
- 43:43Speaker 4: it both ways, right, So this is this is an
- 43:46Speaker 4: issue with timing, right, this is this is probably this
- 43:50Speaker 4: is Altered's first real like large event right where there's
- 43:53Speaker 4: something actually on the line.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Right on in France, right well, States, Yeah, in the States.
- 44:02Speaker 1: This is the first big one in the States.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Yes, you had your you had your event. Was it
- 44:06Speaker 4: a z Q last dear yeah, game.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Or yeah, last event it's a Game Gamers Guild Arizona GG.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Yeah yeah. And so like you know, you've seen now
- 44:27Speaker 4: both ways, right, You've seen one tournament structure say hey,
- 44:31Speaker 4: if something's happening X y Z, we're going to give
- 44:34Speaker 4: players time, and you've now seen one where it's like nope,
- 44:37Speaker 4: we got to move right like this is this is
- 44:39Speaker 4: It will.
- 44:40Speaker 5: Still start like twenty to thirty minutes late for the
- 44:42Speaker 5: first round. But that's just kind of how it panned out,
- 44:45Speaker 5: which is like normal when a big tournament's gonna start Anyways.
- 44:49Speaker 4: I was going to say, you can ask Felix for
- 44:51Speaker 4: a large scale tournaments such as this, that's kind of normal.
- 44:55Speaker 4: You expect there to be a delay, right, Like starting
- 44:58Speaker 4: you're probably going to aren't late, right, no matter what
- 45:02Speaker 4: game it is, like key Forge, it might be like
- 45:04Speaker 4: three hours late, you know where, Like this was like
- 45:08Speaker 4: you know because well, because if this was key Forge, right,
- 45:11Speaker 4: they would have stopped everything and been like, well, we're
- 45:12Speaker 4: gonna wait for everything because it's not fair for all
- 45:15Speaker 4: those who aren't here. And it's like, well for all
- 45:18Speaker 4: of us who did.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Five people that were missing, Yeah, but we didn't we
- 45:23Speaker 5: didn't know how many were actually missing, like at the
- 45:26Speaker 5: time of starting it, and we had like a good
- 45:29Speaker 5: number of our players, So.
- 45:31Speaker 6: Sure is I think of the Universe's regional that I
- 45:34Speaker 6: was judging. I think about a week before gen Con,
- 45:39Speaker 6: and we started about an hour or two late because
- 45:42Speaker 6: Cardio crashed and it wouldn't allow us to start. And
- 45:46Speaker 6: later during the day somebody had a seizure so we
- 45:49Speaker 6: had to stop for a moment. Then we had a
- 45:52Speaker 6: fire alarm go off, everyone had to evacuate.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Jesus was all at one one day.
- 45:59Speaker 4: I was we we at when we ran KeyForge Live.
- 46:03Speaker 4: That was like, so we for for key Ford, we
- 46:06Speaker 4: ran one large scale event at the end of the
- 46:09Speaker 4: pandemic when it was like hey you guys, can you
- 46:12Speaker 4: know kind of you can leave your houses now? Yeah, legit,
- 46:17Speaker 4: like we we ran an event on our own dime
- 46:20Speaker 4: because we didn't know what was going on. So we're like,
- 46:22Speaker 4: we're going to run an event. Yeah, somebody pulled the
- 46:26Speaker 4: fire alarm. We don't know who, but somebody pulled the
- 46:28Speaker 4: fire alarm and we all had to evacuate.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it was rather unfortunate, but where it was
- 46:38Speaker 2: a tournament contained entirely within one day, so it was
- 46:43Speaker 2: seven rounds of Swiss and then top top cut. It's
- 46:48Speaker 2: just if we waited the we would have been there
- 46:52Speaker 2: to almost midnight. And especially when you're in a convention
- 46:59Speaker 2: as it's like part of it convention in a convention center,
- 47:03Speaker 2: you also have like a time where you have to
- 47:07Speaker 2: be out. So unfortunately that we couldn't. We couldn't delay
- 47:13Speaker 2: any longer than how long it took to initially set up. Yeah,
- 47:19Speaker 2: very unfortunate.
- 47:22Speaker 3: What yeah, what are the decks looking like for that one?
- 47:25Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, so I was just gonna say once again
- 47:28Speaker 2: sorry to everyone that came out and then had an
- 47:31Speaker 2: unfortunate experience, but it was great to see all of
- 47:34Speaker 2: you and meet a bunch of you that have been
- 47:37Speaker 2: active in the discord. For your top eight, I'll start
- 47:44Speaker 2: at the bottom so we can have some fanfare to
- 47:49Speaker 2: number one. In eighth place was Vint six, with Kojo
- 47:56Speaker 2: and Buddha in seventh. I mean I think like third
- 48:02Speaker 2: to actually, no, this should this should if I reference
- 48:06Speaker 2: side by side, oh, I'll know because top Cut is different. Anyways,
- 48:11Speaker 2: I'll just I'll just say it like it's eighth to first,
- 48:14Speaker 2: but it there's you know, Swiss and Top Cut in
- 48:17Speaker 2: matching and blah blah blah blah blah. But Silas, which
- 48:21Speaker 2: was our lone player all the way from France, Go Usa,
- 48:27Speaker 2: go Usa on a Faunas and Senka Infinite was on
- 48:35Speaker 2: a Faunas in Senka, Darth Fumbles on gol ring and
- 48:41Speaker 2: toxin symbiosis on Linda Way and Ma and then really
- 48:50Speaker 2: really big props. One of the big stories of the
- 48:54Speaker 2: weekend was Phobia in third place on at Saudi Surge.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Bobia is part of the DFW crew, also a high
- 49:06Speaker 2: schooler as we call him and probably the most experienced
- 49:11Speaker 2: at Saudi player in the world, especially now, so super
- 49:14Speaker 2: cool to see them get top three and then Belta
- 49:19Speaker 2: shazzar Aka not a piece of meat on Kojo and Buddha.
- 49:25Speaker 2: And then the winner was It's Rinku from Team a
- 49:30Speaker 2: q Z on Kojo and Buddha.
- 49:37Speaker 5: So very both Saudi and goul Ring making it into
- 49:41Speaker 5: top up.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Eight area and no Siggy in America we defeated, We
- 49:47Speaker 2: defeated all of the sigis Mars in USA.
- 49:51Speaker 4: It's super interesting to look at this because you have
- 49:55Speaker 4: a couple of results, right, you have Leo is up
- 50:00Speaker 4: and you can check that out Netherlands. Right, you can
- 50:03Speaker 4: see the Netherlands results, different regions having very different metas,
- 50:10Speaker 4: right and very strange. Like Netherlands, your top four was
- 50:14Speaker 4: what a couple of a Finances and a Kojo and
- 50:17Speaker 4: a SI there.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Were two offices and they both were lost. Babe.
- 50:24Speaker 4: Yeah, so I just clicked up in Netherlands, two Siggy's
- 50:28Speaker 4: and a Finnas and a Coojo and then lel I
- 50:32Speaker 4: think we talked about Lele yeah to a Finas as
- 50:38Speaker 4: a trace in an Avenka, Germany.
- 50:44Speaker 1: I would have run traced, but no one else was
- 50:46Speaker 1: doing it.
- 50:47Speaker 4: Germany have as as a trade. I'm sorry, three offs
- 50:52Speaker 4: isn't a trace, which I don't know if Germany it's
- 51:00Speaker 4: so you had your Germany which you finally post the results.
- 51:02Speaker 4: I don't know if Germany was the final straw to
- 51:05Speaker 4: the finals. Errata to that, I'm saying it's too much. Yeah, I.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Think he was on the watch list for a while,
- 51:16Speaker 2: but I don't know what really said it over the edge.
- 51:20Speaker 2: I know they usually take like an aggregate of information. Uh,
- 51:26Speaker 2: they also get all the information on like board game
- 51:28Speaker 2: arena games and you know, win rate of heroes, win
- 51:33Speaker 2: rate of cards, YadA YadA. So yeah, he was, he
- 51:37Speaker 2: was in the crosshairs for a little. Really, I think
- 51:42Speaker 2: one of the it might not be the main thing,
- 51:46Speaker 2: but one of the things that stands out to me
- 51:49Speaker 2: about this top eight in Dallas is every single player,
- 51:54Speaker 2: except for maybe Darth Fumbles. I'm not sure if Colton
- 51:59Speaker 2: plays as much, but every single player in this top
- 52:04Speaker 2: eight frequents the online tournaments pretty often. And there has
- 52:11Speaker 2: been a little bit of a under value on BGA
- 52:22Speaker 2: tournaments and things like that in Europe, Like I've literally
- 52:26Speaker 2: seen people say that, you know, like it's not comparable
- 52:30Speaker 2: to in person player tournaments at all, But all of
- 52:34Speaker 2: these players stood out above the rest, and they are
- 52:38Speaker 2: basically all people who play online very often.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Yep, getting a lot of practice in is going to
- 52:47Speaker 1: make you do better, build better, next, better results.
- 52:51Speaker 4: Typically, if you're playing online a lot, you probably also
- 52:55Speaker 4: play in person a lot. It's just kind of these
- 52:58Speaker 4: things go hand in hand typically, right, like this aren't
- 53:03Speaker 4: this isn't this isn't Like, uh, what's the word I'm
- 53:07Speaker 4: looking for? I don't know what the word I'm looking
- 53:11Speaker 4: for is. That's just that's just a typically like if
- 53:13Speaker 4: you're an online player a lot, you play, you play
- 53:17Speaker 4: in person a lot, right, And a lot of that
- 53:19Speaker 4: comes down to like, you know, triggers and stuff like that,
- 53:24Speaker 4: and just knowing knowing your deck, knowing what you're doing.
- 53:29Speaker 5: Having an experience against a lot of other deck archetypes
- 53:32Speaker 5: as well, and knowing how to play into.
- 53:33Speaker 4: The good and good and or bad too, right, because
- 53:38Speaker 4: there's plenty of bad decks out there as well, so
- 53:41Speaker 4: knowing both like how to defeat good and bad is
- 53:45Speaker 4: is important.
- 53:45Speaker 2: So yeah, it'll be very interesting when the first online
- 53:53Speaker 2: qualifier finishes to see what the like. Conversion of players
- 54:01Speaker 2: that are seen a lot is verse ones that maybe
- 54:06Speaker 2: only play in person. Very very cool to see. Yeah,
- 54:14Speaker 2: unfortunate there was a bomb threat, but everyone is fine.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Way to go America for you know, keeping us looking
- 54:27Speaker 2: great and sane. And yeah, it was a good event
- 54:31Speaker 2: despite being sick. Cool to see some more people. Quake
- 54:36Speaker 2: con is weird. I don't know why it still exists.
- 54:43Speaker 1: There hasn't been people like video games.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but there I mean, there hasn't been a new
- 54:48Speaker 2: quake since like twenty seventeen.
- 54:51Speaker 4: That means nothing. StarCraft two is still like a hot
- 54:54Speaker 4: hot game to this day. Yeah, they still have giant
- 54:58Speaker 4: StarCraft events.
- 55:02Speaker 2: No it's not the last one. No, the last one
- 55:05Speaker 2: did not keep up very well.
- 55:08Speaker 3: That's what I thought.
- 55:09Speaker 2: It was cool though. The the b Yoc area was
- 55:12Speaker 2: super cool and I I don't know if the resort
- 55:17Speaker 2: is affordable for a convention or what, but it was nice.
- 55:22Speaker 2: And I guess there was an upstairs that I had
- 55:24Speaker 2: never even went to, and they had a cat cafe
- 55:26Speaker 2: and I did not go to the cat cafe, So
- 55:29Speaker 2: that's upsetting Cole.
- 55:32Speaker 5: I just now realized what b Yoc stands for. I
- 55:36Speaker 5: don't know how I never thought, oh that means.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Bring your own computer. I thought that was just a
- 55:42Speaker 1: random arrangement of letters.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Yep.
- 55:44Speaker 4: That is that is why sir from Altered Corner, Lady in.
- 55:48Speaker 2: John, that is why there was a room that had
- 55:54Speaker 2: basically like a thousand PCs in it.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Yep, because everyone yep, yep.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Oh, but that was gen Con and Dallas uh, which
- 56:07Speaker 2: was what we mainly wanted to catch up on. There's
- 56:10Speaker 2: a lot of stuff going on, but we will have
- 56:14Speaker 2: future episodes on them. A new set is coming out soon.
- 56:19Speaker 2: It's already very exciting. Spoiler siege it Spoiler season should
- 56:25Speaker 2: start early next month. And the next part of this
- 56:30Speaker 2: totally structured podcast would be to answer a Patreon question.
- 56:36Speaker 4: I realized question, are you did you guys go into
- 56:39Speaker 4: the afanas arata now rata kind of now.
- 56:45Speaker 2: We did not, but if you guys want to.
- 56:48Speaker 4: Well if this is more of a question for me, right, okay,
- 56:52Speaker 4: And I don't know, like I meant card games for
- 56:55Speaker 4: a long time, and I know at one time I
- 56:59Speaker 4: really applied to them for like, hey, when we're having
- 57:02Speaker 4: balancing issues, right, we're gonna go ahead and take care
- 57:06Speaker 4: of that, we're gonna go ahead and fix that. And
- 57:10Speaker 4: to a player such as myself right, who is not
- 57:13Speaker 4: the competitive spirit on altered at all? Right, I am more,
- 57:20Speaker 4: I am, I am, I am your filthy casual right.
- 57:25Speaker 4: How many? I mean? Obviously you saw a lot of
- 57:28Speaker 4: people there who were there for for the for the
- 57:31Speaker 4: very high end event, right about sixty or so people.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Did you have any players that were newer there that
- 57:39Speaker 4: are like, hey, you know, I kind of found this
- 57:42Speaker 4: game and I was interested, and I was in the
- 57:44Speaker 4: area and I was traveling, and so I'm here to compete.
- 57:48Speaker 1: I didn't see any there.
- 57:50Speaker 5: That was a lot more of the case at gen Con,
- 57:52Speaker 5: but I didn't really see that at this uh quake
- 57:56Speaker 5: Con event because all the other people that are there
- 57:58Speaker 5: for quake Con are for like video game computer stuff,
- 58:02Speaker 5: so they probably don't care as much about board game stuff.
- 58:05Speaker 2: I think, sure, yeah, I think every person that actually
- 58:12Speaker 2: competed was like there to compete, whether they were super
- 58:20Speaker 2: hardcore competitive or not. There was probably a good variance,
- 58:25Speaker 2: Like there are definitely people who attended that knew they
- 58:29Speaker 2: weren't going to win, and that was exactly what they said.
- 58:34Speaker 2: There were some people that wandered in from the convention
- 58:38Speaker 2: though that then learned how to play the game and
- 58:42Speaker 2: bought starter decks and things like that.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Off.
- 58:45Speaker 2: Honest, it was the last time before the rata was
- 58:50Speaker 2: actually in effect, so it wasn't really a topic of
- 58:55Speaker 2: conversation other than like people saying, this is the last
- 59:00Speaker 2: time I can play with the funness how it is
- 59:02Speaker 2: like now, so I'm gonna do it.
- 59:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just weird, right, And I don't know if
- 59:09Speaker 4: I mean, obviously they knew it was coming, so maybe
- 59:12Speaker 4: a lot of people had been messing around with Kojo,
- 59:16Speaker 4: you know, but it's just it's getting to that point
- 59:18Speaker 4: where I'm kind of like, huh, there's a lot of
- 59:22Speaker 4: a rot or at least it feels that way to
- 59:25Speaker 4: the casual player. Me being the casual player. There's a
- 59:29Speaker 4: lot of eratas.
- 59:32Speaker 1: It's a lot less than other games, but I would
- 59:34Speaker 1: agree that it's more than I would want at this
- 59:37Speaker 1: point in the game.
- 59:39Speaker 4: That well, that's my point, right, Like, there's a lot
- 59:42Speaker 4: of other games that have a lot of eratas. And
- 59:44Speaker 4: maybe Felix can shed a little bit of light on this,
- 59:46Speaker 4: since he's more into newer games than say me, I
- 59:51Speaker 4: used to play a lot, a lot of card games
- 59:53Speaker 4: all at the same time. And now I've kind of
- 59:55Speaker 4: I've stuck to a handful and that's as far as
- 59:58Speaker 4: I've gone. It is super tough to keep up, even
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: having a podcast, super tough to keep up with what
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: the hell is going on and altered expect with all
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: these eratas. You know again now it's like it almost
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: feels like the hero should be the one thing they
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: don't want to touch as much, right, unless it's absolutely necessary.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: I would prefer if they never touched Waru or a
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Fawness and just well, I think doing the hero is
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: too much.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: I agree with you. But in this case, if it
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: made sense, it made sense.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: And doing this is easier than having to do seventeen
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: different yizmeer cards just to make a Fawness not busted.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but I didn't even do that well at Dallas,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: So I don't know, is it really necessary.
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: I well, you could have a lot of people preparing
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: for that too, right where they're like, well, a Finess
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: is out, you know, but but there's always a new boogeyman.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: Right when Wauru finally got the acts right, a Finess
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: became the new it took It took a little while, right,
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: it took a little while, but that a finess became
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: the new boogeyman. I am assuming now with a finess
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: going right now being more or less feeling new to now? Now?
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: Is is Kojo the new Boogeyman? Is that where we're
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: headed now? I don't know.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Uh, Kojo, Kojo and Siggi are basically untouchable in the
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: way of like hero ability because their identity is so
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: straightforward and specific. I don't I don't think you can
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: really change it.
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: There could be changes to cards and things like that.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Hot hot take time, though.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: I think war and a faunas are still super playable,
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: and today prove that because guess who's in the top
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: cut wau uh And there is still plenty of a
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: fauness as well. I'm sure there's a couple in the
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: top cut from is this.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: The top sixteen? Is the top cut?
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: From this?
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Top thirty two, Top thirty, top thirty one? Sorry one
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: player got a back, Oh yeah yeah, but I so.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: My My thing that I've always said and I think
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: is still very true is players over react to erratas,
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: so they basically just drop the hero entirely, and then
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: a couple months later people come out playing the hero
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: doing really well and everyone's like, wait, I thought that
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: hero was dead, uh.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Traced you know, had did exactly that exactly.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and Wau is coming back now a funess will
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: be just fine. As for new players, I don't know.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: I think with heroes that can become an issue.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: But I'm just at a point now where like I
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: am a new player, I pick up a starter deck
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: and it's kind of very possible now that the hero
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: that I pick up is no no longer the hero
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: I am playing.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: The only don't find that is Osma.
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: I think none of those I don't think they'll ever
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: moalify the starter deck heroes.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that is another thing.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: All of the starters those abilities are very basic and
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: they are easy to understand that they're not overpowered.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: Well, I'm saying now, but I guess the new starter
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: decks are going to have the new heroes, aren't they.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: No, there won't be any started decks.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: I thought they were coming out with starter decks for
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: this new set with the new hero, not for this
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: new set, but.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: But maybe later Yeah if it's been announced whin.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Yeah maybe maybe start. Yeah, maybe maybe another time possibly,
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: who knows. I definitely don't, but yeah, the the good
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: it is a good thing. All of the starter deck
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: heroes are the same, and it is not very common
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: that a new player will pick either a Funness or
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Waroo and Trace is basically the same. They just changed Haven.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: I don't know. It comes down to Waro was literally
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: turning people away from the game, so I think it
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: was a net benefit when they changed him. Same with
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Robin Hood Traced maybe almost in the same realm, but
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: not as bad and a Funest. I think definitely started
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: to get there where people literally quit the game because
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: they just did not enjoy playing against those heroes or cards.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: So it's probably a net benefit. And I I love ratas.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: I think they're exciting and open up, like new opportunities
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: and new meta. But I'm crazy, So.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: Yeah they do. I'm not saying they don't, but I
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: just it's a lot towards the new. You know, again,
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: as much as you know this game is still kind
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: of small, it's not as it's not a huge massive game,
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: right like you had sixty people competing for a chance
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: at a trip to France. You know, it's kind of
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: a big prize for sixty people to be competing for.
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: Now today in the few moments ago. It's one of
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: the few scenarios where I've seen a game having a
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: world qualifying regional type of event any convention that requires
- 1:06:03Speaker 6: a second entry fee.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: No, Pokemon definitely bans that. Pokemon does not allow running
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: any sort a competitive championship event at a convention, and
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: Universes also moved away from that.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: Yeah that is yeah, I mean it's it's it's a
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: difficult thing, right because, like you're asked to pay for
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: a convention fee, and that also asked to pay for
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: an entry fee, right. So yeah, I know a lot
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: of card games don't like that because it's just it's
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: an added cost that it kind of it makes people
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: who are may have wanted to come not either shy
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: away from it or not want to come, or not
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: be able to afford it, or you know, whatever the
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: case may be.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Notably, it was the cheapest event to attend though even
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: with that considered.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: So.
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: I was the cheapest event at the convention.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: Yeah, so all you needed for the convention to get
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: in was a fan ticket, which was fifteen bucks, and
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: then for the actual event, I think it was you
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: paid for it, didn't you, Dexter.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: I don't remember.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: It was like twenty five or thirty, and Canada more
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: than thirty. Canada, I think is fifty dollars just by itself,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: and same with a lot of the other European events.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Apix in the live chat says twenty five dollars. So yeah,
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: total of forty bucks. It is the cheapest one to
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: attend out of all of them until you got there
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: and found out how much parking costs. But until then
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: you had no idea that parking was freaking robbery.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: Honest, thirty five dollars is not right, that's common. Yeah.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: So the thing is is, I would agree if it
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: was in and out parking, it was not.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: What do you mean in and out parking? What is that?
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: It would say.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: So they had it, They had it listed at basically
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: an hourly or you could end up paying for twenty
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: four hours. It wasn't like you could say, okay, I'm
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: going to pay for the whole day and then go
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: in and out of the garage. It was if you
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: were in the garage for like two hours or more,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: you were paying thirty dollars. And then if you left
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: and did it again, you were paying another thirty dollars.
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: So you had to pay thirty dollars. Okay, so yeah
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: that is kind of crazy. Well maybe it isn't. I
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: don't know. I can't remember. So I remember when I
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: went to gen Con a couple of years ago, it's
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: forty dollars to park for the whole day. I don't remember.
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: If you laugh, did you have to pay again?
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: I probably will never remember again because after that, like,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: we did a whole different thing for that for the
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: past couple of years.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: So yeah, there was supposedly a lot that was only
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: eight dollars to park in and then they had a
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: shuttle that would bring you over. But working the event
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: carrying like a lot of stuff, it was a little
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: a little hard for me personally to do. I had
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: like deck boxes and a backpack full of a bunch
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: of stuff and blah blah blah. And also I just
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: didn't feel good. So uh, yeah, I'll be uh, I'll
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: be selling some stuff to pay for my time out there.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: If anyone's interested, you know, let me know. But yeah,
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: it was, it was good. It was a cool event. Yeah,
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: the one, the one in Canada is sixty dollars, so
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: sixty dollars Canada, the Nadian.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: Money, Cannada, Nadian money.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Yep, and then that that doesn't that doesn't include anything else.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: I think it was just a good opportunity for the store,
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: and the goal was to have over two hundred players.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: Unfortunate that did not happen. But I mean the event
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: this weekend had twelve hundred players basically, huh So, yeah,
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: it's ah, there are the players. There are a lot
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: of players.
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: It's just where all divisibility is something that they definitely
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: need them just in general, it's just a puzzle that
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: needs to be fixed.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: Well in Texas, I know most places, and again Felix
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: probably Felix plays more competitive card games than any of
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: us here.
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: But like ul much anymore now, But.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Competitive Pokemon stuff, I don't even think.
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I made a Poogamon currently either I'm just running
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: a league and I casually universes. I don't play competitive either,
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: I just play casually. Altered that play casually. I mean
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: I had ten garricks.
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: I have ten garricks, I have ten of a band card. Yeah,
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: but like a lot of places have moved away from
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: like Texas. Nothing against Texas but they just moved away
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: from Texas as.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: A whole big.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: It's too big, it's hard to navigate. U Flights in
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: and out aren't necessarily the cheapest unless you're talking about
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: Dallas than they.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Absolutely it's bad everywhere else.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: Well yeah, and this wasn't in Dallas, right, was it?
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: It was?
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: It was yeah. Yeah, So I.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: Compared to typically you'll see like an East coast which
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: you're seeing.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, those are more expensive, though way more expensive.
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: The flight's a little it's a little bit more expensive,
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: but it's a little more accessible.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Like Pokemon Worlds is in Anaheim right now, and that
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: is crazy.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: I feel like Pokemon Worlds. There's a Pokemon Worlds every week.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: I don't know that might be me, but man, let
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: me tell you. Every time I'm poking around and I'm
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: doing stuff, it's it's another Pokemon world and it's like,
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: what is going on here?
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: They also I'm poking around on on on, you know,
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: I got home today and we we we went to
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: the store and you know, I'm poking around on on
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: on on TikTok today and it's like, here's another Pokemon
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: Worlds thing going on. What the wasn't there just the
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: World last week.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Uh, they also had one in Hawaii, which.
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: They've had in Hawaii, They've had it in London, They've
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: gone to Tokyo as well.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I guess.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: Worldwide.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess World's versus Worlds. The altered event will
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: be in Paris.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: So these are just yes first one.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: I don't know what you get or how you get
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: to Worlds for Pokemon, and I don't know if they
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: cover any travel or anything.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: I think you have to qualify in a regional qualifier.
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: Of points starings, and you have to be within a
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: certain threshold pretty much be the best person within a
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: certain age group.
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: You have to be the very best. No one ever was.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Like, no one ever was pretty much pretty much.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: On that note, that was Dallas. Next would be Patreon,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: which I have to say, whoops. I thought we had
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: more questions to answer, but it looks like we answered
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: all of them. So look out for a new Patreon
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: post to ask us questions for next episode. It is
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: free to anyone who just goes to that post on
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Patreon and leaves a question. And yeah, that was the
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Patreon question. Do you guys?
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: I have the Patreon question brought to you by Carls Junior.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: Yeah, do you guys want me to do events?
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: Now? Go for it?
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: So ACE is still going strong on Tuesday nights. The
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: current season will go until September twenty third, so you
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: still have time to collect points, make it into the
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: top four, get that special prizing. I am not one
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: hundred percent on a invitational this season, just based on
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: all the wcqs, the tumults, things like that. But if
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: it's something you really care about, just yell at me
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: and it'll make me want to do it. There are
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: not as many AQZ tournaments anymore. Pandy Andy has taken
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: a step back, but the nu See runs and I'm
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: trying to do a better job of keeping the calendar
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: up to date on Altered Corner, So if you go
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: to Alteredcorner dot com, all of those should be there.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: The World Championship Qualifiers we're doing EU right now as
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: we're recording this. Then we have a little bit of
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: a break, and then there is the North America time
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: zone and then the Asian time zone. Those are open
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: for anyone anywhere to play in. It's just the time
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: is based for those regions. So if you want to
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: ruin your sleep schedule. YouTube can play in them, and
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: I get to ruin my sleep schedule to help run them. Yes,
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: if you didn't already know, A Wall is hosting them,
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: doing all of the tournament organization and the streaming as well,
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: and I am a admin and one of the stream
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: team leaders over there, so I will be busy with those.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: And next weekend there's a Tumult Championship in Dallas at
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: common Ground Games. With how things have been before around
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: here in Dallas, that's probably the only one I would
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: bet on for our area. I know in Austin there
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: will be one at Wonko's, which will probably be on
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: a Monday, but not announced yet. And then Houston, the
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: only one that I know has an actually set date
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: is August thirtieth at Rooted Games. I'm sure Julio of
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: IGAs will put one up soon and we'll share that
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: information in the discord.
- 1:16:52Speaker 6: And yeah, he's out of town this weekend, so he's
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: not able to check.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: Yeah did he did he order his kit?
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: At least I'm not sure. I need to check with
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: him again.
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: Okay, I think he received some information and then there
- 1:17:08Speaker 6: was some conflicting information, so I haven't checked with him again.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: I'm gonna wait until he comes back so we could check.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: Yeah, the good news is Mathiel today said that he
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: basically got his kit a day or two after requesting it,
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: so shouldn't be an issue.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: I think the cutoff to actually like run the event
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: is September fifteenth or something like that, so you have time.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: And yeah, if you're considering driving up to Dallas for
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: the event, you should do it. And I will drive
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: to Austin maybe possibly if I can. Might be hard
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: as I'm unemployed, So support us on Patreon because that
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: money actually doesn't go to me. It just makes sure
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: I don't use any of my own money to host
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: the website and everything else.
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: Yeah, support us on Patreon so Cole doesn't have to
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: support anything else.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: And that was That was much all I had planned. Oh,
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: I guess kind of cool thing they were doing like
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: heroes of Altered thread in the main discord and mentioning
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: you know who people see as heroes have altered and
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: for what they contribute and everything. It's pretty much died down.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: But if you did not get a chance to nominate,
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: do you do you want me to tell you how
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: many times I was mentioned versus other people. Yeah, yes,
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: I will just say in the top three, nice, nicey nice.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: I was gonna say everyone should go at the Wookie
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: and say Wookie and Magpen hoarders get them votes, and yeah,
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: spoiler season should be coming up soon. Will be exciting
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: to see what's going on.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Sure, journalists, Oh no, I was not on the list,
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: There's no way.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: He He doesn't talk enough anywhere.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: I don't do enough. I don't.
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: I don't talk in the main server, which is probably
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: where most of these were coming from.
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: I don't talk in the main server either. And it's
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: just because there's so there is so much that goes
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: on in that server. I cannot keep track. Yep, Like, oh,
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: I I poke in there every now and again. I'm
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: just terrified to say anything because like you go in
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: there and it's just like like it's overwhelming. Honestly, there's
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: like and it's the server is so big, right, Like
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: it's just like compared to like some of the other servers.
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: I mean, I guess AC is that big too. It's
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: just is altered. Corner and Arcons Corner have like over
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: time been so like they've morphed, right and where they
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: used to be really small, and all of a sudden,
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: there's all these people in here. Now it's now, it's
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: not it's just like I come in here and I'm like,
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: I don't want to say things. I don't really know
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: what's going on.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Right, it's mostly larks, but in the main server there's
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: too many people to talk.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I was gonna say, it's it's very uh cute
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: of Luki to compare Arcons Corner with like six hundred
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: people to Altered TCG official discord that has like four
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: thousand thousand.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: Well, like it's just it's I'm a tiny show, right,
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: Like nobody's buying my product. I guess some people are,
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: you know, like yeah, right, yeah, it's all weekend. Oh
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: was he really?
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: I was Jerseys? Yeah, the bright yellow one nice and
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: you had a great yeah the gray one as well.
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: You had to ask us out shirt on.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: No, the old gray one.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: I don't know, so okay, Yeah, and uh you know
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: number one kind of fun you call. We have forty people, right.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: Listen. I I probably talk in Arcon's corner more than
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: what he does. So it's basically my second home.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: That might be possible.
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: It's it's actual probable. It's actually probable because again, there's
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: so much that goes on in my own I pok
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: in from time to time. I wouldn't say never, but.
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: Like he's he's an old man with a job.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: Yeah, job, the job, And like I'm not in a
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: job where like sheep, isn't a job where he could
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: just you know, like pop up in his phone like
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: I could. Right, like my job, I guess I don't
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: want to say what allow me to, but like I'm
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: I'm kind of the boss, right.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: It's hard when you're in sales to just.
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: I'm not in sales, but like I'm on my phone
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: all day every day. I run a retail store.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Retail.
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: Sorry, Like my day is so busy it's not even funny, right,
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: Like it's it's just it's a busy, busy, busy day
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: all day, every day, busy, busy, busy, right, Like I'm
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: going from one thing to the next, to the next,
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: to the next, to the next, to the next, to
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: the next to next. You know, it's just you have
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: an agenda that is filled in your X amount of
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: hours you are there for that day, and that agenda
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: is filled and every now and again I will see
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: something pop out and maybe I will decide because like
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: a lot of the stuff, it's like there's no need
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: to comment on that, right, So yeah, I don't I
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: don't want to say I don't talk, but I am
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: very rarely in there chatting away on my own server.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but if you're not.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: On the other hand, is able to talk in all
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: of the altered servers all the.
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: Time, including the altered server that's not really an altered server. Yep.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: If only someone would pay me to do it, then
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: I would be living Levita Luca anyways. But that's that's it.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: I'm glad that you were able to hop in and
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: join us cookie.
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: Get in air for a little bit. I was trying
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: and it's like my phone wasn't working nothing. It was
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: working because I just I found out that like my
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: phone without Wi Fi sucks. I do not have good
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: cell phone. I do not have like good like I
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: guess internet reception. It'll take phone calls just fine. But
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: when it's like, oh, do you need to get on
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: a web page? Like maybe that's just a sign of
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: the times right where it's like instant gratification. We're so
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: used to that, like just popping in and like things
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: just load.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: Think I had to wait like five minutes for Discord
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: to even like do the thing today.
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: Sound was like dial up.
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it was close. It was it was broadband.
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: Let's put it that way. It was broadband. When not broadband?
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: Is that DSL?
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: When you are ready to go have some alone time
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: in the bathroom, you have to let the videos load
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: ten minutes ahead.
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: Yeah you got. You got to hit pause and let
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: the let the videos load and then maybe come back
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: in like thirty minutes or so.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: Well, that uh, that is all I have. I have
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: to wake up at seven in the morning, so I.
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: Think I do too. Because my company is having an
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: event in Illinois, So I am traveling down to six
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: Flags tomorrow for our big come for our giant company event.
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: That's only an hour away from me. So it's not
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: too bad and they're they're paying for it all kind of.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: I hope you get some good food.
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: Nice, Yeah, it's supposedly supposed to be some good food.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: The story is shutting down for the day, which kind
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: of sucks. I mean, but it's a Sunday, so it's
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: not that busy anyway. So but take us out. Cool,
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: let's get out of here. I gotta eat something still.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: Yeah, safe travels. I'll upload this in the folder and
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: whatever happens happens. Thanks everyone in the live cast. Good
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: to be back. Can subscribe and comment and everything. I
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: answer them because I am everywhere, all at once, and
