- 0:32Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We do them on a daily basis.
- 0:35Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And we would be grateful if you could help us out in that way.
- 0:43Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: On camera ready.
- 0:47Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Two terms.
- 0:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: One's one word, one's two words.
- 0:53Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: On O N.
- 0:56Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And then camera ready.
- 0:58Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: C-A-M E-R-A space R-E-A-D-Y.
- 1:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So talk about these topics are very similar.
- 1:15Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That's why I put them together.
- 1:20Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: First, I wanted to just put out there that there was a lawsuit against Meta, which is, I think, Facebook, Instagram, maybe.
- 1:36Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That's M-E-T-A.
- 1:39Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There was a uh the court case and Meta is forced to now pay almost 18 billion dollars to uh states across the United States.
- 2:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Because we know how addicting screens are as adults, as children growing up, high school, college, trade school, military.
- 2:21Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We have a lot of experience with screens.
- 2:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so that seventeen, eighteen billion that is going to the states.
- 2:40Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Not all the states want that.
- 2:44Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Florida wants to sue Meta on their own because they feel like the amount of money that Meta had to pay is going to be paying the states for basically misusing their platform.
- 3:06Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So there's going to be child restrictions between midnight and I think 6 a.m.
- 3:20Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Children are going to be able to get on Facebook.
- 3:23Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There's there's a host of things, and you can read up on it.
- 3:26Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I that's not my specialty.
- 3:29Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I just know that it's a it's a platform we use.
- 3:35Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We have a profile on Meta, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
- 3:46Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And I think it's important when I say on or camera ready, because that's a lot of what this world has put forth for us as humans to always be ready for that picture, to always be ready for a video.
- 4:13Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So that's that on.
- 4:15Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like I have to be on not on something, but just I just have to be ready to if I'm I don't know, going to an amusement park with friends, being camera ready to take selfies and pictures and and and all that, and knowing that those pictures, and we got TikTok with you know video.
- 4:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There's video on Facebook and Instagram, but TikTok is predominantly video while they give you other opportunities, other options.
- 5:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Videos uh most prevalent on on TikTok.
- 5:12Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so we have this I don't want to say his voice, but we we have we do.
- 5:44Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And people from all over the world may see it, and so we have to be on.
- 5:55Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We have to be yeah, we have to be on, we have to be camera ready, video ready.
- 6:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like it's just the way it is that there's no two ways about it.
- 6:14Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And it's very draining mentally, I think.
- 6:23Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Again, I'm giving this is the lens through me that that's part of what can lead to burnout, right?
- 6:43Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We're constantly thinking about something or some things that's going on in our mind.
- 6:51Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That's that's mentally there's all I I I think it's a good start for this meta lawsuit.
- 7:17Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I don't think it go.
- 7:22Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: What do you value a life at?
- 7:24Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Is there a dollar value?
- 7:27Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so I'm getting right into it.
- 7:31Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So Meta pays this fine to the states that want it.
- 7:39Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Florida doesn't, they want to sue Meta on their own and go out at that route.
- 7:48Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But money can't bring back people, all the people that have taken their lives, there's extortion, among others, you know, body shaming, bullying.
- 8:12Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Because if I upload something as a sixteen, seventeen, eighteen-year-old growing up, there's gonna be friends that are gonna.
- 8:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's not just that there could be other people that we don't know, like the stranger, stranger danger.
- 8:38Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There's that, but then we have the friends that we see at school, or we see out at a ball game, you know, and the whispers could, you know, start.
- 8:58Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like, did you see that picture?
- 9:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That was I don't even know like where this is like that was a bad picture.
- 9:10Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That was a bad video, like what and that could affect friendships, relation relationships across the board.
- 9:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so what do you tell the parent that lost their son, their daughter by taking their own life because of metas, algorithms they had they pushed certain content the certain people kind of think about when I was growing up, you know, the the tobacco companies where they were advertising, basically, I guess is the way to say it.
- 10:20Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like they weren't saying it out loud, but there'd be advertisements where children would see and might say, Oh, what's this?
- 10:39Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And they might not look at the warning.
- 10:47Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It wouldn't have been in their head if it wouldn't have been advertised, and so the child wouldn't be up at three in the morning if they weren't allowed to be.
- 11:13Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I know you feel me, but the platform itself incites this type of behavior.
- 11:37Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So much that again, relationships can end, friendships can end, so many, so many things can be negatively affected.
- 11:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Now that can happen in life no matter what.
- 11:52Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So I'm not trying to sit here and say this is the reason for all the societal problems that that uh that are going on with with children.
- 12:06Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But it's a fair amount.
- 12:18Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And again, what's the cost of one life?
- 12:22Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Is that how they got to the eighteen billion?
- 12:27Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: They got the stats of how many people took their lives for the duration of meta being around, and did they put a number on a human?
- 12:52Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Say, oh, every human's worth a hundred thousand dollars, and did they multiply that out times however many people took their lives?
- 13:01Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I don't know.
- 13:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I don't know how they came came up with that amount, but we got to think as a side as a society, as parents, as leaders in the community, in our homes.
- 13:25Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We have to start being around for our children.
- 13:34Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: They won't play with their friends as long as it's safe and they're not eating all your food.
- 13:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: First thing out of their mouth isn't I'm hungry, I want a snack, I want this, I want that, I want this, I want that.
- 13:59Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You might say, Well, that's silly.
- 14:01Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well, it happens, trust me.
- 14:04Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You don't need actually, you know what?
- 14:06Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You don't need to trust me.
- 14:08Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It happens.
- 14:11Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Seeing it, heard it, my own eyes, and ears.
- 14:21Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But it can affect you know the screens of the it it it can affect you know who's playing with who at whose house and oh this this person has a bounce house, or this person has this or that and so that that leads to again always being on, like, oh my gosh.
- 15:01Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: A different episode, but that that's the thing, it's like oh, I saw your Facebook profile, and then you don't know like what what pictures people are looking at so everybody wants to have that airbrushed look, wants to be on a diet or have a certain body shape.
- 15:43Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Yeah, I'm not I'm not here to bash you know, people that are you know taking these shots and are are taking these pills, it's supposed to help lower the weight, a person's weight.
- 16:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Almost to a point that they don't even look like themselves anymore.
- 16:12Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But that's that's another part of the society.
- 16:15Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: If society wasn't and isn't built on looks, I think, like like oh that person looks like this, or or perceived or assumed, like, oh that person's really skinny, or oh, that person has really white teeth, and oh, that person has no acne, no this person doesn't have braces, you know.
- 16:52Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: The list goes on and on and on, but we gotta be there to be able to have those conversations, it's easy to say, well, don't worry, you know, what don't worry about what what people are are saying.
- 17:19Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well, it's much easier said than done.
- 17:23Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Because as you and I both know, when we're not in the situation, is one thing.
- 17:36Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: When we're in the situation, trying to enact that plan of don't let it bother you.
- 17:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Here's how to get out of the situation, here's our code words, here's our password, here's here's the ways we can do that.
- 18:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But if you notice Instagram and a lot of these social media platforms, the pictures, the photos, the the videos, it it looks like everybody's having the and nobody's perfect, everybody's having the perfect life.
- 18:27Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like, oh look at them, look at look how skinny they are or whatever it it may be.
- 18:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I'm not saying that that we we shouldn't be kind to people to choose that route or those routes.
- 19:05Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like I'm going to the gym.
- 19:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like I'm I'm trying to build muscle and shred unneeded weight so I can have a weight that's more like I was when I was younger.
- 19:26Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Not that it's gonna be that amount, but I'm doing it that way.
- 19:35Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I'm not doing it in the way like where I have enough medications and things to take.
- 19:46Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I don't I don't need another one.
- 19:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Because right, you take one, and then it's like then they have the side effects, and then you gotta take to something else to counteract that, and then it just so I'm not doing that.
- 20:01Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That that's not that's not for me.
- 20:08Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But we just gotta be careful as a society, we keep moving closer and closer that if somebody doesn't have the looks, they're not gonna have the self-esteem.
- 20:33Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so we need to accept people for who they are whether three hundred pounds, two hundred pounds, a hundred pounds, what it's just a person, it's just a human being, like can we just be can we just be human?
- 21:08Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I mean I kinda I kind of look at you know these whatever magic, wonder, drugs, the shots, the pills that lowers the weight.
- 21:33Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's no different than photoshopping, airbrushing.
- 21:46Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And what's it come down to?
- 21:48Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well, I want to be an influencer.
- 21:56Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And and that's that's okay to have that as a goal.
- 22:06Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But then it gets to be a little bit real, like, oh, if I'm gonna do this, I need to have a certain look.
- 22:15Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And if I don't have that certain look, I'm either A, gonna have to change course, or B, I'm gonna look at any and all alternatives that can get me to look a certain way.
- 22:38Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And I look at these weight loss shots and pills the same way I look at Botox and that.
- 22:48Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I get it, some people need it, but it's to take a regular face and to basically kind of like freeze it in time.
- 23:05Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I get it.
- 23:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I don't know anybody personally that uses Botox, at least that I know of.
- 23:16Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But it's the same thing, or these lip fillers, like oh my lips are too small, so I I want to have those lush lips, so I go do the lip fill filter or filter.
- 23:30Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well they do that on on the actual picture itself and they upload it, but uh the lip filler, and then my nose, and then they go get nose surgery because and and all these things are to get closer and closer, I think, to like an ideal person that we think others think that we should be.
- 24:09Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Some of that might be true, some of it, maybe not.
- 24:16Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But you know, these weight loss drugs that they're they're they have out there, that's not what they were meant to be.
- 24:22Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: They would that that's not what their purpose is or what it was supposed to be.
- 24:37Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And Botox has reasons for people who need it, and then that might be something that they want, and then you have the other side of I just want to do it cosmetically so people so I'll I'll look a certain certain way.
- 25:05Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So if I get my nose surgery, if I get my lips filled, I get my cheeks filled due to Botox, due to the weight loss, and then all of a sudden my problems are gone, or there's it feels like there's less less problems when we don't know how that's reacting inside our body because we always want to be on.
- 25:38Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So if you have Botox, the lip filler, the way if you have all that, then it kind of takes ourselves and makes ourselves what we think more camera ready, video ready that you may be sitting that sitting or riding a train or at an airport, and then go, oh my gosh, I want to I want to take a selfie and send it to somebody, or I wanna post it.
- 26:31Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like, oh, I'm at the airport heading to wherever.
- 26:39Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so when you have all these things that are going on, you know, if you're at the braces thing, yes, I did the braces, I did the Invisalign.
- 26:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh that was an elective process.
- 27:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I didn't like the way my teeth look, and so I I I I went through that.
- 27:18Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So yeah, I'm guilty because I want to have straight teeth.
- 27:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But that's as far as cosmetically, like that's it.
- 27:34Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: For me.
- 27:36Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I'm not telling you how to live your life, I'm not telling you what to do, what not to do.
- 27:41Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I'm just saying we're an on society, we're a camera-ready society, and that can have a big effect on our mental health.
- 28:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Because if we always have to feel that way, again, our body doesn't know the difference between good stress and bad stress, so it might just seem like, oh, I just did his video and it's no big deal.
- 28:16Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well, it took energy, maybe not a lot, but it took energy.
- 28:26Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And then we post it, and then we go back and we look at how many likes and shares and reshares, and we we look at all those things and go, oh, I need to do something different.
- 28:48Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I only got three likes on this photo or this video, and so that then it becomes that that circle, right?
- 29:06Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: The analytics are like three likes, your last photo had fifty.
- 29:14Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So I gotta try something else, and then it goes back to like, is it what can I change about myself?
- 29:26Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And we start like guessing why people hit that like button or share button or make into a story or a real R E E L in this particular example.
- 29:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So I think just by being our authentic self, that will always make us on and camera ready.
- 30:12Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But we just can't as a society keep moving more and more and more and more and more to that side where like, oh, that person's good looking, that person's not good looking.
- 30:35Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so we can not only be upset and hurt by comments, but now we have a lot of different remedies to help change that from the weight loss thing to the Botox thing, the lip fill, the lip injection, all the things the braces that yeah, and I did the braces, I I said it.
- 31:11Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I did the invisalign, something I wanted to do, and I don't need any needles or I don't need anything extra.
- 31:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I went through the process and then at night I wear retainers because I want my teeth to stay how how they are, but that's only one aspect.
- 31:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So interesting episode today, don't you think?
- 31:54Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Food for thought, a lot of food for thought.
- 31:57Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Thanks for joining us.
- 31:59Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Those thumbs up really do help.

- 32:31Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Those are all free to do, doesn't cost you a dime, and you can do them really quick.
- 32:42Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So till next time, let's celebrate the voices of everybody in the world, and let's also be a voice not only for ourselves, let's find our voice, and then maybe somebody else too that's not able to share their voice.
- 33:05Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So we'll see you next time.
- 33:08Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We're sending love and support your way.
