- 0:00Dayna Roselli: It's time for Vegas Revealed, episode 48.
- 0:03Sean McAllister: And there's big breaking Vegas news from Backstreet Boy Nick Carter.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I can say this there has been serious discussions on uh another uh residency here in Vegas.
- 0:14Dayna Roselli: We're excited to hear about that and his full interview coming up in just seconds on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:32Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed heading into Christmas.
- 0:36Sean McAllister: I'm Sean McAllister.
- 0:37Dayna Roselli: And I'm Dana Roselli.
- 0:39Dayna Roselli: We are excited to have Nick Carter on the show today, and we have so much to talk to him about.
- 0:43Dayna Roselli: We're talking Backstreet Boys, Nick's solo music.
- 0:46Dayna Roselli: He was just on The Mass Singer, what it's like living in Las Vegas.
- 0:50Dayna Roselli: He's also gonna share two tips, which is he's got some good ones if you love food, let's put it that way.
- 0:57Dayna Roselli: And also we're gonna talk to him about what he's doing with Cure for the Kids, a very important organization here in Las Vegas.
- 1:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, and uh a lot of people might not know that Nick Carter is actually a Las Vegas resident.
- 1:09Sean McAllister: When the Backstreet Boys came to do their residency here, he said, hey, you know what?
- 1:14Sean McAllister: This would be a great place to call home and a short commute to work.
- 1:18Sean McAllister: So without further ado, let's get right to it.
- 1:20Sean McAllister: Nick Carter, how's it going, man?
- 1:22Dayna Roselli: Hey Nick, happy holidays.
- 1:24Sean McAllister: Happy holidays to you as well.
- 1:26Sean McAllister: Thank you for having me.
- 1:27Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 1:27Sean McAllister: It's it's great to see you.
- 1:29Sean McAllister: Um, you've been pretty busy, and you just had a very uh public unmasking on primetime TV.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Yes, I did.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I was the crocodile on The Masked Singer, and it just got revealed last night.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Um, I had a ton of fun with it.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Um, I was actually supposed to be on the last season, and there was a costume that I actually designed, which was the rock turtle costume.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Um, and then and then I basically didn't have time to do the show because I was on tour with the boys, and then Jesse McCartney uh decided to take the costume, and then he went on to do really well in the competition.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And then when the quarantine um uh hit, uh, you know, uh some time opened up, and that's when I, you know, decided to uh they invited me back and I decided to join the show and pick the croc as my uh my character and you know the rest is history.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean you were fantastic and the costume was amazing.
- 2:27Dayna Roselli: You must have been proud of that one.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: That was good.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I was incredibly happy with the costume.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Actually, um I'm I like to say things are meant to be, you know, it's just what it was.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, when I first saw it, I had a choice between another costume and that one.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And I said, well, it's definitely the the croc, you know, the the the pink, it just stood out.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: It was like this the showman, you know.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: If I was on stage, I can I could just pop, you know, a little bit of a liberace kind of thing going on.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Very Vegas, you know what I'm saying?
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: I live in Vegas and all those things.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: So no, it really it definitely led to me being able to play with the character as well and and to use it during the performances.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: And and obviously uh the show kind of lends itself to quarantine anyway, doesn't it?
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Uh it does.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: You know, that's the thing uh that that's one of the reasons I wanted to do it.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: You know, we were right in the middle of a world tour down um down in South America, and you know, things got cut short, and we were getting ready to do another 50 shows um in the States.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: We were gonna launch those, and those are still on the books, um, you know, when everything is safe and things come back again.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Um, I wanted to do the the show because, you know, at a time when we're all sitting back home and you know, we're on lockdown and um we're all hungry for entertainment and and ways to sort of just have an outlet and just something that we can, you know, especially when it comes to live performances.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: I thought it would be great for our fans.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I thought it would be great for people who were sitting back home and just were craving, you know, entertainment.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, it was my own way of sort of uh giving back and bringing a little bit of joy into people's hearts out there and everywhere.
- 4:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and and it worked.
- 4:09Dayna Roselli: And and listen, uh, we've lived in Las Vegas for a very long time.
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: We've seen a lot of shows, and I wanted to let you know when I went to the Zappos Theater and saw the Backstreet Boys, you know, I didn't know what to expect, but like all of a sudden, when you're coming down on stage and everything, it was literally one of the best shows I have been to since I've lived here uh 15 years now.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: That makes two of these.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Wow, thank you guys.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: You know, I'll I'll say this the people like statistics, and they say, well, you know, we were the fastest selling um residency here in Las Vegas.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Um, and then there's talk said it was one of the best out there.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Uh and listen, the Backsheet Boys, um, you know, we we do something that a lot of other bands and entertainers just don't do anymore, and that's sing and dance and put on a big elaborate show.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's about the show, it's about the entertainment value.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: And, you know, that's what Vegas uh gave to us, and we were able to really highlight that here.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Um we would love to come back.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: That's one of the reasons why I I live here now.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: You know, I brought, you know, I moved from from California from LA, you know, when my son was, you know, right around one year old, raised him here, was able to drive to the venue uh 15 minutes away, you know, come back home, raise him.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: My daughter was born in Las Vegas, you know, and so there's there's a lot of roots that I've basically been, you know, planting here.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And I it's just a great community, and I love being a part of.
- 5:33Sean McAllister: Well, and and we love hearing that that you guys would like to come back because I know that once live productions get back up and running, there's nobody more that fans would like to see back up on the stage at the Zappos theater than than Backstreet Boys.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that would be great.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I'll say this.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: I think I like to say that's the reason why I didn't leave.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: It's because I know we're gonna be back again.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: We gotta finish our uh we have to finish our touring.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, once everything's safe and once everyone uh feels uh comfortable enough to get out there and enjoy the the live atmosphere again, you know, we'll be back again.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And once that's done, I mean listen, I can say this there has been serious discussions on uh another uh residency here in Vegas.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 6:15Dayna Roselli: We love to hear that.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: And and you know, you said it was a lot of fun.
- 6:18Dayna Roselli: You said the mass singer was fun, and now you've got new music coming out in this first song, 80s movie, it's fun.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: It sounds like what you're doing and you're you're kind of uh doing in your life right now is making sure to lift people up and make sure that you're bringing smiles to people, which is important.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was trying to find a song.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Uh I once I was doing the Mass Singer, I I really got inspired again to I said, well, maybe I can, you know, do solo music.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Uh it's a little bit harder with the group and every, you know, we're in different uh places right now.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: But I, you know, so that's why I just started decided to start to record music, and I was recording it right here in Las Vegas um at some a great studio that I love.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: And yeah, I found this song, 80s movie, and I wanted to, I was trying to find something that that could that wasn't like necessarily, oh, I'm trying to do a Christmas song or I'm trying to do like a holiday song, but still had that spirit of nostalgia, still had that sort of like make you feel good around the holidays.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: It was like okay, I was trying to find a song that could basically be like the home alone of music.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: I don't know, you know what I'm saying?
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Like, but you know what I mean, like and uh, but just not being not going too far.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: And so I did, I I this the song is incredible.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: It gives you the good feels, it it just it's good vibes.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, it I think people are gonna really like it.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: So it drops this Friday, uh new music Friday on Spotify and on iTunes.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: So I'm looking forward to seeing what people think about it.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: So so once the single comes out, I mean, when are there do you have plans on putting out the whole album?
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I I have uh a bunch of music that uh I have actually recorded.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, the plan was really to not rush necessarily the uh the music out because I was like, I was like, oh, maybe I could put an album out.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: That would be kind of cool.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Um, but I said, well, you know what?
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Let's just put out a song and see what people think, keep recording music, and um, you know, maybe if I get enough in time, if it's the right music, maybe I'll release an album.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: You know, we do live in a world that's pretty fast right now, and you know, people can just put out singles if they want, and you know, uh after a time, it just might turn into be an album.
- 8:26Dayna Roselli: So great.
- 8:28Dayna Roselli: And listen, let's talk here for the kids.
- 8:30Dayna Roselli: Great organization.
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: Uh, we've done work with them before.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: Uh, incredible what they do for children here in the Las Vegas area.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: Talk about your role with the organization.
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: I know you've been really trying to bring awareness about what they do.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh, totally.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: The um being back home and and sitting, you know, in quarantine with my family, you know, um, and I'm a hundred percent uh father all the time.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I love my children.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And you know, I when I look at them, I think to myself, you know, uh, thank God, you know, I they're they're healthy and and I'm very grateful for that.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: But not everybody has that, you know, in their lives.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, that's when I started to to think, like, God, like uh, you know, you think about the silver lining when you're back home and you, you know, we're not touring, we're not doing all these things, you know, what can we do to give back?
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: What can we do to raise awareness?
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: And there was this uh organization, Care for the Kids, that when we did the Las Vegas residency, you know, I I visited the hospital, I visited, I took um, you know, walked all through it, saw the way that they treated the kids, the way they treated the families, you know, how they gave families hope during this, you know, in all these situations that that and and so I was I was just absolutely blown away.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: And I and I thought, you know, well, maybe this could be something that I could connect with because I am, you know, I have had um, you know, pediatric cancer actually uh it affects uh you know so many families, you know, and and and I just wanted to find something, you know, that um that I could connect with and it and it was right here in Las Vegas, and I was really, really happy.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: So, you know, they're a great organization.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: And they're actually it especially at during this time, you know, where people are losing their their insurance, you know, people are families are you know trying to find ways to take care of their families and their children, and this organization uh, you know, offers that opportunity, you know, free of charge for people who live in Nevada and that also, you know, the neighboring states as well.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: They take care of uh children's family.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: So they're a great uh place that uh families can turn to in a time of need.
- 10:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it it really is.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: And and thanks so much for everything you're doing.
- 10:38Dayna Roselli: Sometimes I think people get involved in things when when they have a you know something related to that.
- 10:43Dayna Roselli: But to for you to be here, you know, you have your family, a healthy family, and you're you're doing something anyway, just shows you know, sometimes that that's what it takes to build up awareness too, is everyone taking part.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: I'm I I will say I have we all have been affected uh by different things in our lives.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Um and I have had family members who have uh passed away uh from cancer.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: So I know I understand how deadly and how important it you know it is to uh to just raise awareness because we you know we can we uh it is if we band together, we can we can help fight it.
- 11:15unknown: Yeah.
- 11:15Sean McAllister: And we have uh a link so that you can get in touch uh with Cure for the Kids on our Vegas Revealed social media pages.
- 11:22Sean McAllister: We'll make that really easy for you.
- 11:23Sean McAllister: And and Nick, you did mention that you're on dad duty all the time.
- 11:27Sean McAllister: I know that um you you're big on breaking making breakfast for the kids.
- 11:32Sean McAllister: Have you brushed up on your breakfast skills since you've been at home with the family over the last several months?
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll say this.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Um, I am really good at, you know, I'm getting better at multitasking um and being able to have, you know, my daughter in one hand, and then you know, feeding my son on the other hand.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I I have my go-tos, you know, what I'm I'm always in the kitchen, I'm always cooking.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: And and it's so funny.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: One of the things I realize now that I don't know if you guys have kids, but you know, basically you you don't sit down anymore.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: You don't sit down.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: So I find myself picking and and you know, serving and cooking and cleaning all at the same time while I'm eating.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: So, but I love it.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Listen, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm I just uh you know, I love being a father.
- 12:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you get your steps in, that's for sure.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: That's true, that's true.
- 12:24Dayna Roselli: Hey, how do you like living in Las Vegas?
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Um, I absolutely love it.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: First of all, how would you how could you not love this weather?
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, uh, number one, uh, you know, the um the food, the people, you know, a lot, you know, outside of the the strip, you know, you you you when you live here, you realize that it's it sort of has a small town feel, um, but at the same time, you know, big hearts and you know, a community that that just supports one another and and is there for each other.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: And it's uh really the the the the term Vegas Strong is extreme, it's just it's real, you know.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: And and yeah, I just fell in love with it.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: I I I I talk to a lot of people too that say, well, you know, trust me, I've been here for 30 years and you know, I didn't uh I didn't think I was gonna live here.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: I always thought I was gonna move.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: And they they always say they never leave.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, I get it now.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: I understand why.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: No state taxes, right?
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: You know, there's a lot of things that are great about it.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and the and incredible weather and good golf.
- 13:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, I know 15 years each.
- 13:33Sean McAllister: We both thought that it was gonna be a a quick stopover, but here we are today.
- 13:37Sean McAllister: Yeah, and you know, every week on uh the Vegas Revealed podcast, Nick, we always give out our tips for for Vegas visitors who are coming to town, how to get the most out of their stay, places to visit.
- 13:51Sean McAllister: Do you have any any places that are like your hidden gems?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, there's uh one place I'm actually craving it right now that you're saying that.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, I uh like pho here is incredible.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: Like the Vietnamese pho, it is absolutely incredible here in Vegas.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Um, and there's this place called District One Kitchen.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Have you ever been there?
- 14:15Dayna Roselli: No, I've heard of it.
- 14:16Dayna Roselli: It's surprisingly I haven't.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Absolutely incredible.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, they have this like lobster pho, like they put this whole lobster in there, and it's like just absolutely delicious.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: And they do like the ribeye phase and everything.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Those are great.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: There's a also um a place I like to go to where I live.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Um, it's called Mama Bird.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Uh, I love it, it's so good.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Like uh, so there's there's a lot of options of good food outside of the strip uh that uh people should definitely explore.
- 14:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, there are so district one and mama bird, those are those are Nick's suggestions.
- 14:50Sean McAllister: Good ones, good ones.
- 14:51Sean McAllister: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 14:52Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, we are looking forward to seeing you back on tour.
- 14:56Dayna Roselli: We're looking forward to new music, and we really can't wait for you to be back with a residency in Las Vegas.
- 15:01Dayna Roselli: It was so much fun.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't wait.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think it's gonna be uh for the boys, um, we're like I said, once everything uh gets to a place where people want to come out again and and um and and enjoy uh live music, you know, we want to be there on the other end to to just entertain and to bring joy and and bring people back together.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: You know, we we do believe that we came from a a very um positive era um when it came to the late 90s, and um, you know, the music reflects that.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: And you know, that's who we are.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: And we feel like uh once we get back on tour, uh we're gonna be there to bring joy to people's lives.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: And, you know, like I said, uh there are some things cooking.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Um again, a food reference.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm hungry.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, there's some things cooking like there uh that are in the works uh right now.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: There is a a song that we are working on um that uh that might come out a little sooner than later.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, we did just do the Britney Spears song as well.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: That was that's a really that was a lot of fun.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Obviously, uh we love Britney and um so there's we're doing a couple things here and there.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: So great.
- 16:12Sean McAllister: Well, we love to hear that.
- 16:13Sean McAllister: And uh Nick, we look forward to to seeing you in person once we can get out and about again here in Las Vegas and move freely.
- 16:21Sean McAllister: Listen, I hope you and your family have a great Christmas, wonderful new year, and we look forward to to seeing you back on stream.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: God bless you guys.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Be safe.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: Take care, Nick.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Later.
- 16:33Dayna Roselli: That was great catching up with Nick, and I love that he lives in Las Vegas and he enjoys it so much.
- 16:38Sean McAllister: And he really has gotten so involved.
- 16:40Sean McAllister: I know he's done a lot for uh animal charities and he's done toy drives, and now Cure for the Kids.
- 16:49Sean McAllister: Again, we'll we'll put the information for Cure for the Kids up on our Vegas Revealed social media.
- 16:54Sean McAllister: So if you want to help out and get involved, you can do that as well.
- 16:58Dayna Roselli: And if you want to see the interview in the video version, we will post that on our YouTube as well.

- 17:13Sean McAllister: So, yes, we will have that whole video version of our interview with Nick.
- 17:18Sean McAllister: Um, again, just such a great guy.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: So glad we were able to talk to him as we head in to this Christmas week and the end of the year, Dana.
- 17:27Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, 2020 is coming to an end.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: I don't know that the whole world's gonna change when the clock strikes midnight, but let's be positive and and just hope that this next year ahead will be better than what we've all had to deal with in 2020.
- 17:41Sean McAllister: Well, let's we we can definitely say that there is light on the horizon, right?
- 17:45Dayna Roselli: Let's hope.
- 17:46Dayna Roselli: Oh man, what a year.
- 17:48Dayna Roselli: And like even just talking to Nick, hearing about all the positive things he's doing, it just does make you feel like, okay, you know, the the world is moving, music is is coming back, and and we can think about shows and all that stuff when it comes to Las Vegas.
- 18:00Dayna Roselli: So uh we love it, and we might be back with a little New Year's Eve message for you as well.
- 18:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, but uh before then, we do want to just pause and and thank you all over the past year for listening to the Vegas Revealed podcast.
- 18:15Sean McAllister: We've really loved seeing how far the podcast has gone around the world and and hearing from people around the world who get their Vegas fixed through us right now because they can't travel here.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: You know, it's not the podcast that we expected to do.
- 18:31Dayna Roselli: We didn't expect to take this turn.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: You know, we're kicking off Vegas glitz glam entertainment news and hey-ho, you know, on uh episode one.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: But but things changed and um gone with the flow, and it has been a podcast that we think and we hope people have turned to to stay connected to Las Vegas.
- 18:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, and we will continue to do that as we head into the new year.
- 18:54Sean McAllister: But again, thank you very much for being with us.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and you know, the reviews do help.
- 18:58Dayna Roselli: And I just, you know, I hate to always ask, but if you could leave a review, it helps people find us.
