- 0:30Thank you Lord for this land. Thank you God for all of
- 0:33creation. Thank you Lord for all the
- 0:35little hidden intricacies all around us Lord to be discovered.
- 0:40Thank you Father for the gems and jewels inside of this word.
- 0:44Thank you Father for the saving blood of Jesus Christ covering
- 0:49us. Thank you Lord for the cross and
- 0:51Calvary. Thank you, Lord, that we are
- 0:55going to be there with you and we wait patiently.
- 0:58Help us to run this race well and help us to finish well in
- 1:03Jesus Christ. Holy and precious name I pray,
- 1:07Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 1:12Then shall the Kingdom of heaven be likened unto 10 virgins which
- 1:16took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
- 1:20So here in verse one, you're going to have to understand that
- 1:24in the Jewish culture, there were three different stages of
- 1:30marriage. And the fathers would agree on
- 1:35the marriage and then the bride and the groom would be betrothed
- 1:42but lived separately. And then the bride would wait
- 1:46upon the groom and she did not know when he would come.
- 1:49And a lot of this is likened to our waiting upon our groom.
- 1:55We are the bride of Christ and we're waiting for Him and we
- 1:59wait expectantly for Him and He's going to show us here how
- 2:04we are to wait. Verse 2 And five of them were
- 2:08wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took
- 2:13their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took in their
- 2:18vessels with their lamps. That was verse 4.
- 2:22Verse 5. While the bridegroom tarried,
- 2:25they all slumbered and slept. So here we can see that we are
- 2:31to keep our oil filled. We are to keep our lamps burning
- 2:36bright. We are to trim the Wicks.
- 2:39We are not to be the foolish virgins who took no oil with
- 2:46them. We'll be able to finish this
- 2:48race well if we are filled with the Holy Spirit.
- 2:51That is the idea here. We are not to slumber and sleep.
- 2:57We are to look expectantly and not to be taken off guard when
- 3:02He comes back for us. Friends 6 And at midnight there
- 3:08was a cry made. Behold, the bridegroom comes,
- 3:11go, you out to meet him. So here this is the return of
- 3:17Jesus Christ, and we are to go and to meet him in the air.
- 3:23Seven Then all those virgins arose, and they trimmed their
- 3:27lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us your oil,
- 3:32for our lamps are gone out. This is a picture of the
- 3:35personal relationship that we are to have with Jesus Christ.
- 3:40It is to make sure that we are actually indwelled with the Holy
- 3:44Spirit. And you can be sure of it today,
- 3:47friends, you do not have to sit and scratch your head and
- 3:50wonder. It is a very, very simple idea
- 3:55of acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord.
- 3:59It is confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.
- 4:04It is believing in your heart that God raised him from the
- 4:07dead and you shall be saved. God will give you the baptism of
- 4:13fire. God will give you the indwelling
- 4:15of the Holy Spirit today friends, you can be sure of it.
- 4:19And then when we have the Holy Spirit, we become the temple of
- 4:23God and we are to burn bright. We are to be filled with the
- 4:28Spirit, friends, we are not to just put our faith on the back
- 4:31burner. It's not to just be a get out of
- 4:34hell free card. There are many who have a false
- 4:37sense of salvation and that is not fear mongering friends.
- 4:41That is making sure that you are checking your dialogue with Him,
- 4:48that you are checking for that still small voice that speaks.
- 4:52Be still and know that He is God.
- 4:55Ask Him to come and then dwell. You ask Him to make sure that
- 5:00you have the Holy Spirit. And it is not something that we
- 5:05should be afraid of. If we have truly started
- 5:12following after him, if we have truly asked Him to be our Lord,
- 5:17if we have truly acknowledged His supremacy, if we have truly
- 5:23confessed with our mouth and believed in our heart, then we
- 5:26can know that we know that We know that we know that when we
- 5:29die, we're going to bust heaven wide open.
- 5:32That we can know that we know that we know that we know that
- 5:36the Holy Spirit does live inside of us and speaks to us.
- 5:40And we should not sear our consciences and we should not
- 5:44grieve the Spirit, friends. And that is part of the
- 5:49Christian walk is making sure that your life is vibrant, that
- 5:54your walk with him is vibrant. Friends, that is the call here
- 6:00is to make sure that we are filled with the Holy Spirit and
- 6:03not just put our faith on the back burner to not just think
- 6:08that we can make it to the end and then get serious about
- 6:13following after him. We are called today.
- 6:16Today is the day of salvation. Friends, do not wait, do not
- 6:21carry, do not wait another minute.
- 6:23Make sure that you know that you know you don't have to have a
- 6:26hope. So maybe so kind of faith you
- 6:29can have a no so kind of faith. You can know that you know that
- 6:33the Holy Spirit lives inside of you and that you belong to Him,
- 6:38friends, and it is as simple as confessing with your mouth that
- 6:42Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised him
- 6:45from the dead. I cannot say it enough, friends.
- 6:48Do it today. Ask God to save you and to
- 6:54acknowledge that you're a Sinner.
- 6:56Acknowledge that you need a Savior.
- 6:58Acknowledge that you cannot save yourself.
- 7:02Acknowledge that Jesus is who he says he is.
- 7:06He's the Son of God, He is the long-awaited Messiah.
- 7:09And he will come in and he will dine and Sup with you and make
- 7:14sure that you know that you are marked and saved and that you
- 7:19will be passed over in the day of judgment.
- 7:24And these foolish virgins are trying to ask the wise ones to
- 7:31give them their oil and it doesn't work that way.
- 7:33Friends, we must have a personal relationship with him.
- 7:39But the nine. But the wise answer saying not
- 7:42so, lest there be not enough for us and you, but go you rather to
- 7:47them that sell and buy for yourselves.
- 7:50We can spend a lifetime talking about this one verse.
- 7:53And what does it all mean in context to our day and our our
- 7:58age and our friends? But I want you to know that it
- 8:01is personal and you cannot go to other believers.
- 8:05You're not going to get into heaven off of grandma's faith.
- 8:08You're not going to get into heaven off of all the things
- 8:11that your church does for the community.
- 8:13It doesn't work that way. Friends, go for yourself, have a
- 8:18personal relationship and get in the good book. 10 And while they
- 8:24went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that were ready
- 8:29went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.
- 8:33The door was shut, the door was shut, and it will not be
- 8:36reopened. There is no purgatory, there is
- 8:39no third option. There is no praying anyone out
- 8:42of hell. It is shut and it is final.
- 8:46When you take your last breath, that's it.
- 8:49You have no more chances, friends. 11 Afterward came also
- 8:54the other virgin, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
- 8:59And this is likened to the verse.
- 9:00There will be many who come and say, Lord, Lord, and I will say,
- 9:03Depart from me, for I never knew you. 12 But he answered and
- 9:08said, Truly I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch
- 9:12therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour, where the
- 9:15Son of Man comes, Never, ever go with anybody who sets a date.
- 9:20If somebody's trying to tell you that Jesus is coming on a
- 9:23specific date, run, flee, and hide from those people.
- 9:27Do not go around them, for they are dangerous. 14 For the
- 9:31Kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country,
- 9:36who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
- 9:4115 And unto 1 he gave 5 talents, and to another two and to
- 9:46another one to every man according to his several ability
- 9:52and straightway took his journey.
- 9:54So this was a monetary value, these talents, this would have
- 9:58been like bricks of gold or bricks of silver or bricks of
- 10:03copper. And this was a large amount of
- 10:06money. Even the one that he only gave
- 10:08one talent to was still a very large amount of money.
- 10:12And notice it's according to His ability.
- 10:15And that is a word for us today. If you have been faithful with
- 10:19little, you can be faithful with much.
- 10:22And that is the idea here is that those that were given much
- 10:26can steward much, and those that are given little can only
- 10:30steward little. But it is still an extravagant
- 10:33amount. Friends, what you have been
- 10:35entrusted with in your little lifetime, this little 100 or 120
- 10:42years that you have on this earth.
- 10:43Yes, it might seem insignificant of the things that you could do,
- 10:47but just remember that there are people that that only you can
- 10:52reach, friends, and God expects for you to be telling them your
- 10:57salvation story, sharing with them the good news of Jesus
- 11:01Christ. We have been entrusted this
- 11:03entirety, this authority of God's word.
- 11:07We've been entrusted with the complete authority and we have
- 11:11all the tools in our tool belt needed to reach the World.
- 11:15We do not need to add or subtract anything to it,
- 11:18Friends. 16 Then he that had received the five talents went
- 11:26and traded with the same, and made them other 5 talents. 17
- 11:30And likewise he that had received two, he also gained
- 11:34other 218 But he that had received one went and dug in the
- 11:38earth and hid his Lord's money. 19 After a long time the Lord of
- 11:44those servants came and reckoned one with them.
- 11:47We need to wait. Well, we do not need to be
- 11:51afraid, and we're going to see what happens to this servant who
- 11:56only had one. We know the other two doubled
- 11:59their money. He wanted to reckon with them.
- 12:0320 And so he that had received 5 talents came and brought another
- 12:075 talents, saying, Lord, you delivered unto me, 5 And behold,
- 12:12I have gained beside them five more talents. 21 His Lord said
- 12:16unto him, Well done, you good and faithful servant, you have
- 12:19been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many
- 12:23things. Enter you into the joy of the
- 12:25Lord. 22 He also came and received 2 talents, came and
- 12:30said, Lord, you delivered unto me two talents.
- 12:33Behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 23 His Lord
- 12:38said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant, you have
- 12:40been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many
- 12:44things into you, into the joy of the Lord.
- 12:47So here we can see that He was rewarding them because they
- 12:52doubled their money, and they were faithful what he had
- 12:55entrusted to them, and he knew they could steward it well. 24
- 12:59And then he which had received the one talent came and said,
- 13:02Lord, I knew you, You are a hard man, reaping where you have not
- 13:05sown, in gathering where you have not strawled. 25 And I was
- 13:09afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the earth.
- 13:12Lo, there you have that is yours. 26 His Lord answered and
- 13:19said unto him, You wicked and slothful servant, you know that
- 13:27I reap where I have not sown, and gathered where I have not
- 13:30strawed. You ought therefore to have put
- 13:32my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have
- 13:36received my own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from
- 13:41him, and give it unto him which has 10 talents.
- 13:44For unto everyone that has shall be given, and he that shall have
- 13:49abundance, but from him that has shall not be taken away, even
- 13:54that which he has. 30 and casts you, the unprofitable servant,
- 13:58into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of
- 14:02teeth. So this servant, he did not even
- 14:04know the Lord. He did not even think there was
- 14:07no. There was no pity upon him, He
- 14:12had no regret. He just thought that by hiding
- 14:18it that he was going to be commended.
- 14:21But the Master came, and the Master showed that with a little
- 14:25bit of time that we have, He wants us to steward it well.
- 14:29Our time, treasure, and talents is important in our little
- 14:32lifetime, Friends. 31 And when the Son of Man shall come in His
- 14:36glory, and all the holy angels with him, they then shall He sit
- 14:40upon the throne of His glory. 32 And before Him shall be gathered
- 14:44all nations, and he shall separate them one from another,
- 14:49as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And he shall
- 14:53set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on his left. 34
- 14:56And then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come,
- 15:00you blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for
- 15:05you from the foundation of the world.
- 15:08So this is not the great white throne.
- 15:11This is the judgment of the nations before the thousand year
- 15:15reign. And you can see King Jesus after
- 15:18the Tribulation, King Jesus after Armageddon, He's amassing
- 15:22all the people and he is putting some of them into banishment and
- 15:29into hell, and the other ones he's welcoming into eternity,
- 15:34into the thousand year reign. And So what is he going to say?
- 15:3935 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.
- 15:43I was thirsty and you gave me drink.
- 15:45I was a stranger and you took me in.
- 15:47He's talking about the Jews here.
- 15:49He's talking about during the Tribulation and how there will
- 15:54be Gentiles who treated them with these same respects.
- 15:59They were thirsty, and they gave them something to drink.
- 16:01Drink 36 Naked. And you clothed me, and I was
- 16:04sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came
- 16:08unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying,
- 16:12Lord, when do we see you hungry, and feed you, or thirsty and
- 16:17give you drink? 38 When saw we you a stranger,
- 16:22and took you in, or naked and clothed you?
- 16:2439 Or when do we see you sick, or in prison came unto you?
- 16:3040 And the King shall answer, and say unto them, Truly I say
- 16:34unto you, In as much as you have done it unto one of the least of
- 16:39these, my brothers, you have done it unto me.
- 16:42So he's talking about his brethren.
- 16:44He's talking about the Jews here, friends during the
- 16:47tribulation. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left
- 16:52hand, depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire, prepared
- 16:57for the devil and his angels. Just remember that we send
- 17:02ourselves there. He does not send us there.
- 17:05They had the opportunity to help out, and they had the
- 17:09opportunity to show love, but they did not. 42 For I was
- 17:13hungry, and you gave me no meat. I was thirsty, and you gave me
- 17:16no drink. I was a stranger, and you took
- 17:19me not in naked, and you clothed me not sick and in prison, and
- 17:24you did not visit me. 44 Then shall they also answer him,
- 17:28saying, Lord, when do we see you hungry and thirsty, and
- 17:31stranger, and naked and sick and in prison, and did not minister
- 17:35unto you? 45 Then shall he answer them,
- 17:38saying, Truly I say unto you, inasmuch as you did it not, not
- 17:43to one of the least of these, you did it not to me, we'll end
- 17:47on 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but
- 17:53the righteous end to eternal life.
- 17:58So here we're getting to see all of these events, this
- 18:02eschatology being laid out for us to try and understand.
- 18:08And there is a lot of debate, and we could debate it till the
- 18:11cows come home. And you need to know that Jesus
- 18:16meant what he said and he said what he meant.
- 18:19And as time goes on, all of these things will become clearer
- 18:23and clearer and clearer. And there are many prophets who
- 18:26had wished to see the days that we're in today.
- 18:29We're actually got to see Israel regathered as a nation.
- 18:35We've actually got to see so many markers along the way.
- 18:39But what we need to know more than anything is that we need to
- 18:42be found faithful to the end. We need to be found doing the
- 18:47Lord's work and ready for him. Is the entire point of this
- 18:52entire chapter is be ready for the Lord at all times, never
- 18:58letting your guard down. I hope you've been blessed by
- 19:00this chapter. I know I sure have.
- 19:03Praying for every single one of you.
- 19:05I love you. We'll see you back here
- 19:09tomorrow.
