Latest / The Paul Barron Crypto Show / Trust The Pump?🚀iTrustCapital CEO Kevin Maloney📈INTERVIEW
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Can you trust the pump?
- 0:01Speaker 2: The market is starting to move and today we'll break
- 0:04Speaker 2: it down with you with one of our top channel
- 0:05Speaker 2: partners and just dive into it. I want to start
- 0:08Speaker 2: off first with a clip because this will get you
- 0:11Speaker 2: into the frame of where this market currently is. Take
- 0:15Speaker 2: a look.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Is the crypto winter over? We believe so. Last week
- 0:20Speaker 1: was really interesting.
- 0:21Speaker 3: We had two events that in theory should have taken
- 0:24Speaker 3: Bitcoin down. We had the Fed hike, the first one
- 0:27Speaker 3: since 2023. And we had the failure of passing the
- 0:31Speaker 3: Clarity Act and the initial reaction was going down a bit.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It just went to 75, 77K and then went straight
- 0:39Speaker 3: back up. If we can close the week above 85,
- 0:43Speaker 3: I think we are in a good position.
- 0:45Speaker 4: How should retail investors think about institutional adoption?
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's positive.
- 0:51Speaker 3: It brings a steady hand to the asset. And if
- 0:55Speaker 3: you put it alongside a diversified portfolio, the adoption tends
- 1:00Speaker 3: to come in waves. So Bitcoin spends most of its
- 1:02Speaker 3: time doing either nothing or losing a little bit of money.
- 1:06Speaker 3: And then in a short amount of time, you get
- 1:08Speaker 3: this burst of returns. And that is very positive for
- 1:13Speaker 3: a portfolio.
- 1:15Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So what you can see there is a TradFi that
- 1:18Speaker 2: is starting to look at the crypto markets. That was
- 1:20Speaker 2: Schwab reporting on where this is heading. I wanted to
- 1:23Speaker 2: bring in Kevin Maloney of iTrust Capital to kind of
- 1:26Speaker 2: talk about this because he gets a chance to see
- 1:29Speaker 2: where these trends are heading. So, Kevin, how are you?
- 1:32Speaker 1: Doing great, Paul. Thanks for having us back.
- 1:34Speaker 3: You bet.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So a lot to talk about. We're going to talk
- 1:37Speaker 2: about some announcements you guys have. But before we get
- 1:39Speaker 2: into that, there are some interesting things going on right now.
- 1:43Speaker 2: One of them that occurred that I think Some people
- 1:46Speaker 2: might look at this and say, hey, this is kind
- 1:47Speaker 2: of bullish. We now have timeline trading within X. This
- 1:52Speaker 2: most likely will open it up to X traders out there.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I think crypto X in general is probably one of
- 1:57Speaker 2: the bigger places. But cash tags do launch. This is
- 2:00Speaker 2: a big thing. When you're in the current state of
- 2:03Speaker 2: the market, do you feel like you can trust this
- 2:07Speaker 2: pump as it is right now? Do you feel like, OK,
- 2:09Speaker 2: the bottom is in. We're trusting this pump right now
- 2:12Speaker 2: as we see these things happen in front of us?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the sentiment certainly changed, Paul.
- 2:17Speaker 4: We're seeing a lot of cash that was on the
- 2:19Speaker 4: sidelines go to work this last two weeks. We've seen
- 2:23Speaker 4: tens and tens of millions of dollars go to work
- 2:25Speaker 4: from retail investors.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I think people are excited.
- 2:27Speaker 4: While the Clarity Act was a bit of a disappointment
- 2:30Speaker 4: from a TradFi perspective, it doesn't change the underlying sentiment
- 2:34Speaker 4: in the market.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Bitcoin doesn't need Clarity Act.
- 2:37Speaker 4: And as we saw two indicators, the Clarity Act getting
- 2:40Speaker 4: shot down during the Senate cloture session. And the rates
- 2:44Speaker 4: going up the next day, 25 basis points, didn't affect
- 2:47Speaker 4: the price, holding steady above 85. Money's going back into
- 2:51Speaker 4: the market. The sentiment certainly changed. All right.
- 2:55Speaker 2: So sentiment changing and maybe another factor, if you just
- 2:59Speaker 2: look at the deal that was announced with Circle and
- 3:02Speaker 2: Binance today, this shows a lot of faith in the
- 3:06Speaker 2: general market. But I think it also could be pairing
- 3:09Speaker 2: two of the global players in Binance. kind of bringing
- 3:13Speaker 2: the market forward. So you look at investors now just
- 3:16Speaker 2: taking a look at this in the sense of what
- 3:18Speaker 2: finance is gonna have in terms of pairs. And then
- 3:21Speaker 2: of course, Circle doing so much in the way of
- 3:24Speaker 2: really USDC and stable coin adoption. I think this is
- 3:28Speaker 2: a big, hopefully a big indicator that we continue to
- 3:31Speaker 2: see movement here.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And if you take a look at where.
- 3:34Speaker 2: We're talking in terms about stocks and ETFs, this of
- 3:38Speaker 2: course has also been flying. You guys put out this
- 3:41Speaker 2: right here. Can you explain a little bit about this
- 3:44Speaker 2: for me?
- 3:46Speaker 1: As far as the stocks and ETFs offering?
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I mean, during the bit of the crypto winter, we
- 3:52Speaker 4: saw people chasing yield and we saw people chasing traditional assets,
- 3:56Speaker 4: our retail investors. And we serve over 100,000 high net
- 3:59Speaker 4: worth clients across America, working professionals, guys like you and I,
- 4:03Speaker 4: 40 to 60 that aren't market experts. They're not, you know,
- 4:10Speaker 4: experts at trading volatility experts. And they wanted yield and
- 4:13Speaker 4: they wanted traditional exposure. So we offered stocks and ETFs
- 4:16Speaker 4: and it's been tremendous for us. Our goal here is
- 4:20Speaker 4: to make sure that we have less reasons for people
- 4:23Speaker 4: to leave. So we have a really secure platform, right?
- 4:25Speaker 4: Closed loop system. We give people diversification of stocks, ETFs,
- 4:30Speaker 4: precious metals, and crypto. And we give them phenomenal five-star service.
- 4:37Speaker 4: And those are the things we're going to keep focusing on.
- 4:39Speaker 4: We don't have to invent new things. to get people
- 4:43Speaker 4: to come up with gimmicky things. We're going to keep
- 4:45Speaker 4: delivering security, diversification and service and give people no reason
- 4:50Speaker 4: to leave.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And we can be the mini sort.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Of everything app. And while Clarity Act didn't pass, I
- 4:57Speaker 4: still believe the retail investors win. Circle is getting better
- 5:00Speaker 4: distribution on USDC. The retail investors are getting higher yield
- 5:05Speaker 4: than a bank.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Banks lose, retail investors are winning.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I think the fact that we're seeing so much
- 5:11Speaker 2: of that, you mentioned clarity. I'll just jump over to
- 5:14Speaker 2: Polymarker right here. It looks like it's pretty much toast
- 5:17Speaker 2: in terms of the possibility of actually getting through any
- 5:21Speaker 2: kind of Congress, even post-midterms. Kevin, when you look at
- 5:25Speaker 2: clarity not going through, what kind of result did that
- 5:29Speaker 2: resolve within the iTrust community? Was that like, okay, well,
- 5:33Speaker 2: we actually have clarity now because now we're getting SEC
- 5:36Speaker 2: and CFTC guidance.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Was there inflow? Yeah, I mean, it didn't really affect us.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And our platform is not red or blue. It's red, white,
- 5:46Speaker 1: and blue.
- 5:46Speaker 4: We have to perform and deliver shareholder value and create
- 5:49Speaker 4: profits and be stable for everybody across the board. We
- 5:53Speaker 4: wanted aspects of clarity to come through so that traditional
- 5:57Speaker 4: finance institutions could feel more comfortable coming in and offering
- 6:01Speaker 4: the masses access to crypto.
- 6:03Speaker 1: And that didn't happen. But at the end of the day,
- 6:06Speaker 1: our clients are winning.
- 6:08Speaker 4: The institutions and retirement capital are still allocating. Everyday investors
- 6:12Speaker 4: are allocating. The market is telling us the demand for
- 6:15Speaker 4: digital assets now is bigger than ever and bigger than
- 6:18Speaker 4: any single bill.
- 6:20Speaker 1: So we're really excited about that.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I think the takeaway here is that policy delay isn't
- 6:28Speaker 4: product delay.
- 6:29Speaker 1: We're still innovating.
- 6:31Speaker 4: We're still offering products and services that benefit the retail masses,
- 6:34Speaker 4: the working professionals. And the banks will catch on. They're
- 6:38Speaker 4: going to get the CFTC. There's congruency with the CFTC, FDIC, SEC.
- 6:44Speaker 4: FINRA is going to come around. And we're seeing more
- 6:46Speaker 4: congruency now than ever. That was sort of the regulatory
- 6:49Speaker 4: backup that Washington DC mentioned. Hey, if clarity doesn't pass,
- 6:54Speaker 4: we still have congruency with the regulators that we control
- 6:56Speaker 4: for the next two years. And they're going to operate.
- 6:59Speaker 4: in a congruent manner and do the right thing and
- 7:02Speaker 4: give clarity based on genius, the genius act, for everybody
- 7:06Speaker 4: to participate and compete.
- 7:09Speaker 2: So, okay, I want to go back to the stocks
- 7:10Speaker 2: and ETFs that are within the platform now. Are these
- 7:14Speaker 2: tokenized stocks within the platform itself?
- 7:17Speaker 4: No, not yet.
- 7:18Speaker 1: We're not an ATS.
- 7:20Speaker 4: So, you know, we're working with Apex, a broker dealer
- 7:24Speaker 4: registered with FINRA, and the stocks and ETFs are all self-directed.
- 7:28Speaker 4: And we, in fact, they're commission free at iTrust Capital.
- 7:31Speaker 4: But that was our way of offering traditional asset exposure
- 7:34Speaker 4: to the retail investors while there was uncertainty in the
- 7:37Speaker 4: crypto markets. And so that was met with a warm reception.
- 7:43Speaker 4: And we'll look at tokenized assets over the next year
- 7:46Speaker 4: or so as those become more ubiquitous. And we understand
- 7:50Speaker 4: sort of the regulatory component.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So was it, do you feel like it was clarity
- 7:55Speaker 2: that slowed? if it did slow you down in terms
- 7:58Speaker 2: of tokenized stocks? Or is this something that you just
- 8:00Speaker 2: want to wait and see how this starts to evolve
- 8:04Speaker 2: from a market standpoint?
- 8:06Speaker 4: When we see it become more ubiquitous across the board,
- 8:08Speaker 4: when we see 23.5 trading with the standard traditional assets
- 8:13Speaker 4: and we see these things getting tokenized, we're definitely going
- 8:15Speaker 4: to go down that route and offer that to our clients.
- 8:18Speaker 4: But right now, people just want an exposure to SpaceX, Microsoft,
- 8:22Speaker 4: and NVIDIA in a traditional asset format.
- 8:26Speaker 2: All right, so you have a new announcement that says,
- 8:27Speaker 2: watching your gains disappear, hit different when your only strategy
- 8:30Speaker 2: is hold. It's time for Q coming in September. So
- 8:35Speaker 2: it's September. What can you share?
- 8:36Speaker 4: Yeah, so we actually launched a Q product we developed yesterday.
- 8:43Speaker 4: It's sort of early access, limited capacity, and we're really excited.
- 8:48Speaker 4: The backdrop for Q is not because Washington, D.C. handed
- 8:51Speaker 4: us a perfect framework, but because you know, retail investors
- 8:56Speaker 4: still need a better way to sit in a 24-7
- 8:59Speaker 4: market without living off of charts. You know, I'll wake
- 9:03Speaker 4: up at three in the morning to let the dog out,
- 9:06Speaker 4: and I'll go check my Bitcoin position, but I'm not
- 9:09Speaker 4: living up through the night checking every position every day. And,
- 9:14Speaker 4: you know, Q was developed for investors like me that
- 9:19Speaker 4: aren't absolute experts, that aren't, you know, and wanted to
- 9:26Speaker 4: participate in the markets.
- 9:28Speaker 1: It's a quantitative market trading tool.
- 9:32Speaker 4: It's AI formulated with the human element with certain market
- 9:36Speaker 4: signals and triggers that are predefined parameters that will hit
- 9:43Speaker 4: when certain things happen in the market. So you can
- 9:46Speaker 4: literally be opting into Q for $ 10, 000 or.
- 9:50Speaker 2: $ 25, 000.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Anything under $ 25, 000 is free each month, no subscription. And
- 9:56Speaker 4: the signals include trend volatility, relative strength, moving averages, and
- 10:00Speaker 4: cycle indicators. You know, the price of Bitcoin for mining,
- 10:02Speaker 4: things like that.
- 10:05Speaker 2: So, and this is available to traders or to a
- 10:07Speaker 2: select set of traders right now?
- 10:10Speaker 4: It's available to anybody right now. We haven't really come
- 10:13Speaker 4: out and put a press release out on it. We haven't.
- 10:16Speaker 4: This is the first time we're actually talking about it today. Okay.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So it's available.
- 10:20Speaker 4: We're going to watch it for the next couple of weeks.
- 10:22Speaker 4: We'll put a press release out. There'll be a very
- 10:24Speaker 4: large concerted marketing effort around TV, radio, things like that
- 10:29Speaker 4: just to get some track record going. It's not a fund.
- 10:33Speaker 4: This is an opt-in strategy. There's eight different strategies that
- 10:37Speaker 4: retail investors can opt into and select on their own.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And they can get out. at any time.
- 10:44Speaker 4: So it's not a fund with redemption windows where you
- 10:47Speaker 4: have to give us a one month heads up or
- 10:49Speaker 4: we're charging, you know, two and 20 like a hedge fund.
- 10:51Speaker 4: This is a small subscription fee above $ 25, 000 in assets, eight,
- 10:57Speaker 4: you know, strategies to choose from, you know, predefined signals.
- 11:01Speaker 4: And if they trigger in the marketplace, it'll trade for you.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Automatic trading is in these Q strategies.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I like it.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Hey, I want to go to a clip here because
- 11:10Speaker 2: this gets into whether or not investors are trusting this market. This,
- 11:16Speaker 2: of course, is Secretary Bassett talking about Kevin Warsh. Let
- 11:20Speaker 2: me play this clip.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Inflation's been running too high. Maybe you think it's going
- 11:24Speaker 1: to come down.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Does the president understand what Kevin Warsh had to do?
- 11:29Speaker 1: Do you agree with the move?
- 11:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not going to talk about whether I agree
- 11:32Speaker 5: with it or not, but the I have great confidence
- 11:36Speaker 5: in Chair Walsh. More importantly, the president has great confidence
- 11:40Speaker 5: in him. And we are sure that he will do
- 11:42Speaker 5: the right thing to balance the inflation mandate versus the
- 11:46Speaker 5: growth mandate.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And we'll see.
- 11:49Speaker 5: We will see whether this is a supply shock on
- 11:54Speaker 5: the energy side, but thus far, core inflation. And so
- 12:01Speaker 5: we haven't seen an uptick in that. Everything is in
- 12:03Speaker 5: the headline inflation.
- 12:05Speaker 4: All right.
- 12:06Speaker 2: So a few points there. One, of course, Warsh raising rates.
- 12:11Speaker 2: That was an indicator. You had the SEC, CFTC rolling
- 12:14Speaker 2: out after the clarity fail. There's a lot of moving
- 12:17Speaker 2: parts in the market right now, and it seems to
- 12:20Speaker 2: be responding, Kevin. And I'm looking at right now the
- 12:25Speaker 2: Bitcoin ETF tracker. I mean, this thing absolutely skyrocketed. Are
- 12:30Speaker 2: you seeing this kind of activity within the iTrust platform
- 12:33Speaker 2: where investors are just pulling money back off the sidelines
- 12:37Speaker 2: and getting back into action here?
- 12:40Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Something I mentioned at the beginning of the call, we're seeing,
- 12:43Speaker 4: you know, we were sitting on 350 million in cash,
- 12:47Speaker 4: investor cash, FBO investor cash, and we're seeing significant portions
- 12:51Speaker 4: of that going to work. So as I mentioned earlier,
- 12:54Speaker 4: the sentiments have changed. You know, people are already in crypto.
- 12:57Speaker 4: There's 20 to 40 million American crypto investors. They believe
- 13:01Speaker 4: in it. It's not going away. The Clarity Act doesn't
- 13:04Speaker 4: really matter. The banks actually lose, in my opinion. The
- 13:08Speaker 4: investors win. And at the end of the day, we
- 13:12Speaker 4: launched Q for those that want to participate. They're already in.
- 13:16Speaker 4: They just don't want to watch the market 24-7.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Is there been a time that you've seen that kind
- 13:22Speaker 2: of active assets get back into the market before?
- 13:25Speaker 1: Or is this new? This is the most cash we've
- 13:29Speaker 1: been sitting on for a while.
- 13:31Speaker 4: And significant portions are going back to work. But we
- 13:34Speaker 4: are always watching the indicators. We see every day the
- 13:38Speaker 4: activity and behavior of 102,000 high net worth individuals. And
- 13:43Speaker 4: the masses are going to do what the masses are
- 13:45Speaker 4: going to do. And they are participating and allocating.
- 13:48Speaker 1: It's very clear.
- 13:50Speaker 2: One thing is for sure, we're starting to see movement
- 13:53Speaker 2: within institutional capital. You have Bitwise Solana staking ETF now.
- 13:58Speaker 2: the world's largest sole ETF. This recorded a new all-time
- 14:01Speaker 2: high in AUM, which is massive when you look at
- 14:05Speaker 2: the fact that maybe staking is now becoming catnip for institutions.
- 14:11Speaker 2: What do you make of this right now?
- 14:15Speaker 1: I think staking is an interesting tool. We offer it
- 14:18Speaker 1: on two assets.
- 14:19Speaker 4: I think it's a way to not leverage or hypothecate
- 14:23Speaker 4: your assets and And get some what looks to be
- 14:27Speaker 4: pretty reasonable yield. You know, you got to measure five
- 14:30Speaker 4: times and cut once and make sure that whoever you're
- 14:33Speaker 4: staking with is doing the right thing for your assets.
- 14:36Speaker 4: At the end of the day, I think people are
- 14:38Speaker 4: really just fatigued by the market. They're tired of the
- 14:41Speaker 4: political ecosystem. They're tired of the macroeconomic global instability inputs,
- 14:48Speaker 4: you know, endless wars. And they are tired of trying
- 14:52Speaker 4: to time the market. We've all been burned at some
- 14:55Speaker 4: point in the digital arena, down 50 to 70, 90%
- 14:59Speaker 4: in some asset cases multiple times, depending on the cycles
- 15:02Speaker 4: and how long you've been in. I think people are fatigued.
- 15:05Speaker 4: They're looking for a little bit of stability and a
- 15:08Speaker 4: little bit of breath.
- 15:08Speaker 2: So do you think that the rotation is now moving?
- 15:12Speaker 2: You've got ETH looking very strong against the Russell 2000.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So this could be happening right now versus what we're
- 15:19Speaker 2: seeing TradFi. Has the rotation started?
- 15:23Speaker 1: For crypto? I believe so.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I mean, we're seeing significant interest in, you know, large tokens.
- 15:30Speaker 4: This is not a recommendation, but obviously Bitcoin, ETH, SOL, LINK,
- 15:34Speaker 4: you know, smaller ones like ONDO and SWE. We're seeing
- 15:38Speaker 4: a lot of people jump into XLM, NEAR. There's been
- 15:43Speaker 4: a lot of interest, obviously, in HYPE and Zcash. It's
- 15:48Speaker 4: really interesting to see where assets are going. And then
- 15:51Speaker 4: we're seeing MemeCoin you know, to tick up a little bit,
- 15:54Speaker 4: some activity there as well.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Speaking of meme coins, this obviously rolled out around a stock.
- 16:00Speaker 2: This is HIMSS that just launched. This is a CEO
- 16:03Speaker 2: of a publicly traded company. And it was interesting because
- 16:07Speaker 2: there was a meme coin. I won't say the word here,
- 16:09Speaker 2: but you can see it if you know anything about
- 16:11Speaker 2: HIMSS to have a little fun with it. But the
- 16:13Speaker 2: point is, is that now that you've got tokenized stocks,
- 16:16Speaker 2: there's ecosystems that are developing around these tokenized stocks. that
- 16:21Speaker 2: are now starting to trade. So this could happen around Tesla.
- 16:25Speaker 2: This could happen around McDonald's. You name the tokenized stock
- 16:29Speaker 2: potentially that's going to roll out, you could have a
- 16:32Speaker 2: dozen or more coins starting to trade in pairs. And
- 16:35Speaker 2: with this, do you think that is going to be
- 16:37Speaker 2: a trend that really takes off in this particular bull run?
- 16:41Speaker 4: I do. I think in the next 18 months, we're
- 16:43Speaker 4: going to see significant changes. Even without the Clarity Act,
- 16:47Speaker 4: you're going to see TradFi adoption. You're going to see
- 16:50Speaker 4: them open up the kimono to the retail masses. They're
- 16:53Speaker 4: going to educate them. They're going to spend money on marketing.
- 16:55Speaker 4: They're going to try to get their clients into crypto
- 16:57Speaker 4: to keep them on their platform. So if you don't
- 17:00Speaker 4: offer it, you're not going to compete. And I think
- 17:02Speaker 4: the tokenized, you know, wrapping tokenized story around existing stocks
- 17:07Speaker 4: is going to become a real big thing over the
- 17:10Speaker 4: next 18 months before any major ATS takes over with
- 17:14Speaker 4: volume and controls the whole sort of ecosystem. And these
- 17:17Speaker 4: are steps towards getting everything tokenized 24-7 around the clock
- 17:21Speaker 4: to me, in my opinion. Yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 2: And I think it's legit because what you're looking at,
- 17:26Speaker 2: this is a good example. HEMS actually had its volume
- 17:31Speaker 2: driven 2% because of some of these meme activities that
- 17:36Speaker 2: were taking place. And think of it this way, guys.
- 17:39Speaker 2: You've got a stock that is now tokenized, And then
- 17:42Speaker 2: within that tokenized stock, there's an ecosystem around it, which
- 17:47Speaker 2: is trading, which is driving more activity on that tokenized stock,
- 17:50Speaker 2: which is correlated to the actual traditional finance stock. So
- 17:55Speaker 2: in essence, you've got meme projects out there that are
