  how
• 1:45
  are
• 1:45
  you
• 1:45
  tonight?
• 1:46
  I
• 1:46
  am
• 1:46
  doing
• 1:47
  pretty
• 1:47
  well.
• 1:47
  We
• 1:47
  are
• 1:47
  in
• 1:48
  a
• 1:48
  geeky
• 1:48
  weekend.
• 1:49
  Yesterday
• 1:49
  was
• 1:49
  free
• 1:49
  Comic
• 1:50
  Book
• 1:50
  day.
• 1:50
  Tomorrow
• 1:50
  is
• 1:51
  May
• 1:51
  4th
• 1:51
  be
• 1:51
  with
• 1:52
  you.
• 1:52
  So
• 1:52
  it's
• 1:53
  an
• 1:53
  exciting
• 1:53
  time
• 1:54
  and
• 1:54
  looking
• 1:54
  forward
• 1:54
  to
• 1:54
  having
• 1:54
  this
• 1:55
  chat
• 1:55
  with
• 1:55
  you.
• 1:56
  It's
• 1:56
  one
• 1:56
  of
• 1:56
  the
• 1:56
  best
• 1:57
  times
• 1:57
  of
• 1:57
  the
• 1:57
  year.
• 1:58
  I
• 1:58
  was
• 1:58
  just
• 1:58
  saying
• 1:59
  I
• 1:59
  didn't
• 1:59
  get
• 1:59
  a
• 1:59
  chance
• 2:00
  to
• 2:00
  make
• 2:00
  it
• 2:00
  out
• 2:00
  to
• 2:00
  pre
• 2:01
  Comic
• 2:01
  Book
• 2:01
  Day
• 2:01
  yesterday
• 2:02
  because
• 2:02
  it
• 2:03
  was
• 2:03
  cold
• 2:03
  and
• 2:03
  rainy
• 2:04
  here.
• 2:04
  But
• 2:04
  were
• 2:05
  you
• 2:05
  able
• 2:05
  to
• 2:05
  go?
• 2:05
  We
• 2:06
  did
• 2:06
  make
• 2:06
  it
• 2:06
  to
• 2:06
  Big
• 2:07
  Bang
• 2:07
  Comics
• 2:07
  in
• 2:07
  Swickley,
• 2:08
  Pennsylvania,
• 2:09
  and
• 2:09
  picked
• 2:09
  up
• 2:09
  a
• 2:10
  few
• 2:11
  freebies
• 2:11
  and
• 2:12
  picked
• 2:12
  up
• 2:12
  a
• 2:12
  few
• 2:12
  trades
• 2:13
  of
• 2:13
  Kieran
• 2:14
  Gillan
• 2:14
  and
• 2:14
  Casper
• 2:15
  Winegard's
• 2:15
  Power
• 2:16
  Fantasy.
• 2:16
  Okay,
• 2:16
  right
• 2:17
  on,
• 2:17
  right
• 2:17
  on.
• 2:17
  Very
• 2:18
  cool.
• 2:18
  And
• 2:18
  well,
• 2:19
  that
• 2:19
  actually
• 2:19
  perfect,
• 2:21
  very
• 2:22
  topical
• 2:22
  for
• 2:22
  today's
• 2:23
  episode
• 2:23
  because
• 2:23
  this
• 2:23
  is
• 2:24
  an
• 2:24
  episode
• 2:24
  of
• 2:24
  all
• 2:25
  reading
• 2:25
  counts
• 2:26
  where
• 2:26
  we
• 2:27
  look
• 2:27
  at
• 2:27
  different
• 2:28
  forms
• 2:28
  of
• 2:28
  literature,
• 2:29
  be
• 2:29
  it
• 2:29
  comics,
• 2:30
  be
• 2:30
  it
• 2:30
  manga,
• 2:31
  be
• 2:31
  it
• 2:31
  a
• 2:32
  novel,
• 2:32
  short
• 2:33
  story,
• 2:34
  a
• 2:34
  screenplay,
• 2:35
  which
• 2:35
  we'll
• 2:35
  be
• 2:35
  talking
• 2:35
  about
• 2:36
  today.
• 2:37
  So,
• 2:37
  Andy,
• 2:37
  was
• 2:37
  the
• 2:38
  comics
• 2:39
  you
• 2:39
  got
• 2:39
  there,
• 2:39
  the
• 2:39
  last
• 2:40
  piece
• 2:40
  of
• 2:40
  literature
• 2:41
  you
• 2:42
  read,
• 2:42
  like
• 2:42
  within
• 2:42
  the
• 2:43
  last
• 2:43
  24
• 2:43
  hours
• 2:44
  or
• 2:44
  did
• 2:44
  anything
• 2:45
  else
• 2:45
  you
• 2:45
  want
• 2:45
  to
• 2:45
  give
• 2:46
  a
• 2:46
  shout
• 2:46
  out
• 2:46
  to?
• 2:46
  Yeah,
• 2:47
  no,
• 2:47
  actually,
• 2:47
  I'll
• 2:47
  cheat.
• 2:48
  Because
• 2:48
  the
• 2:48
  last
• 2:48
  thing
• 2:49
  that
• 2:49
  I
• 2:49
  finished
• 2:49
  reading,
• 2:49
  which
• 2:50
  was,
• 2:50
  and
• 2:50
  all
• 2:51
  this
• 2:51
  was
• 2:51
  after
• 2:51
  I
• 2:51
  read
• 2:51
  those
• 2:52
  three
• 2:52
  comic
• 2:52
  books,
• 2:53
  was
• 2:54
  George
• 2:55
  Takei's
• 2:56
  comic
• 2:56
  memoir,
• 2:57
  they
• 2:57
  Called
• 2:57
  Us
• 2:57
  Enemy,
• 2:59
  about
• 2:59
  his
• 3:00
  childhood
• 3:00
  in
• 3:01
  the
• 3:02
  internment
• 3:03
  camps
• 3:04
  for
• 3:06
  Japanese
• 3:06
  Americans,
• 3:07
  or
• 3:07
  Japanese,
• 3:07
  not
• 3:08
  Americans
• 3:08
  as
• 3:08
  some
• 3:09
  viewed
• 3:09
  them,
• 3:11
  but
• 3:11
  people
• 3:11
  living
• 3:11
  in
• 3:12
  the
• 3:12
  United
• 3:12
  States
• 3:13
  of
• 3:13
  Japanese
• 3:13
  ancestry
• 3:15
  during
• 3:15
  World
• 3:15
  War
• 3:16
  II,
• 3:16
  and
• 3:16
  then
• 3:17
  also
• 3:18
  some
• 3:18
  of
• 3:18
  his
• 3:18
  life
• 3:18
  after
• 3:19
  that
• 3:19
  as
• 3:19
  well,
• 3:19
  but
• 3:19
  mainly
• 3:20
  focused
• 3:20
  on
• 3:20
  his
• 3:21
  experiences
• 3:21
  in
• 3:22
  that
• 3:22
  camp.
• 3:23
  So
• 3:23
  that's
• 3:23
  the
• 3:23
  last
• 3:23
  thing
• 3:24
  I
• 3:24
  finished.
• 3:25
  But
• 3:25
  the
• 3:26
  first,
• 3:26
  the
• 3:26
  most
• 3:26
  recent
• 3:27
  thing
• 3:27
  that
• 3:27
  I
• 3:27
  actually
• 3:27
  read,
• 3:28
  but
• 3:28
  I
• 3:28
  haven't
• 3:28
  finished
• 3:28
  it
• 3:29
  yet,
• 3:29
  is
• 3:30
  from
• 3:31
  my
• 3:32
  background
• 3:32
  is
• 3:32
  kind
• 3:32
  of
• 3:33
  cutting
• 3:33
  this
• 3:33
  off
• 3:34
  a
• 3:34
  little
• 3:34
  bit.
• 3:34
  But
• 3:35
  friend
• 3:35
  and
• 3:35
  sometimes
• 3:36
  guest
• 3:36
  of
• 3:36
  the
• 3:36
  pod,
• 3:37
  Thomas
• 3:37
  J.
• 3:37
  Org,
• 3:38
  has
• 3:38
  a
• 3:38
  new
• 3:38
  book,
• 3:39
  A
• 3:39
  Systematic
• 3:40
  Theology
• 3:40
  of
• 3:40
  Love,
• 3:42
  Volume
• 3:42
  One,
• 3:42
  God
• 3:42
  and
• 3:43
  Creation.
• 3:43
  So
• 3:44
  I
• 3:44
  started
• 3:44
  that
• 3:44
  this
• 3:44
  afternoon.
• 3:45
  Oh,
• 3:45
  that
• 3:46
  sounds
• 3:46
  fascinating
• 3:46
  because
• 3:46
  I.
• 3:47
  Yeah,
• 3:47
  for
• 3:48
  listeners,
• 3:48
  viewers
• 3:49
  out
• 3:49
  there,
• 3:50
  we
• 3:50
  had
• 3:50
  Dr.
• 3:51
  Ord
• 3:51
  on
• 3:52
  an
• 3:52
  episode
• 3:52
  last
• 3:53
  year
• 3:53
  that
• 3:53
  me
• 3:53
  and
• 3:53
  Andy
• 3:54
  were
• 3:54
  on
• 3:54
  discussing
• 3:55
  Minority
• 3:55
  Report.
• 3:56
  It's
• 3:56
  one
• 3:57
  of
• 3:57
  my
• 3:57
  favorite
• 3:57
  episodes
• 3:58
  we've
• 3:58
  done.
• 3:58
  And
• 3:59
  that
• 3:59
  was
• 3:59
  a
• 3:59
  fascinating
• 4:00
  conversation.
• 4:00
  So
• 4:01
  I.
• 4:01
  I
• 4:01
  look
• 4:01
  forward
• 4:01
  to.
• 4:02
  I
• 4:02
  know
• 4:02
  he
• 4:02
  puts
• 4:02
  out
• 4:03
  a
• 4:03
  lot
• 4:03
  of
• 4:03
  books
• 4:04
  on
• 4:04
  a
• 4:04
  regular
• 4:04
  basis,
• 4:05
  so
• 4:05
  I
• 4:05
  look
• 4:05
  forward
• 4:05
  to
• 4:05
  checking
• 4:05
  that
• 4:06
  out.
• 4:06
  Yes,
• 4:06
  he
• 4:06
  is
• 4:07
  a
• 4:07
  very
• 4:07
  prolific
• 4:07
  writer.
• 4:08
  Well,
• 4:08
  speaking
• 4:09
  of
• 4:09
  prolific
• 4:09
  writers,
• 4:10
  for
• 4:10
  me,
• 4:10
  I
• 4:11
  haven't
• 4:11
  finished
• 4:11
  yet,
• 4:11
  but
• 4:12
  I'm
• 4:12
  reading.
• 4:12
  I've
• 4:12
  read
• 4:13
  a
• 4:13
  lot
• 4:13
  of
• 4:13
  David
• 4:13
  Sedaris
• 4:14
  over
• 4:14
  the
• 4:14
  years,
• 4:14
  and
• 4:15
  I
• 4:15
  actually
• 4:15
  just
• 4:15
  saw
• 4:15
  him
• 4:16
  at
• 4:17
  the
• 4:17
  do
• 4:18
  a
• 4:18
  show
• 4:18
  at
• 4:19
  Raleigh
• 4:19
  Memorial
• 4:21
  Auditorium
• 4:21
  about.
• 4:22
  Not
• 4:23
  this
• 4:23
  past
• 4:23
  weekend,
• 4:23
  but
• 4:23
  the
• 4:24
  one
• 4:24
  before.
• 4:25
  He's
• 4:25
  one
• 4:25
  of
• 4:25
  my
• 4:25
  favorite
• 4:25
  writers.
• 4:26
  I
• 4:26
  met
• 4:26
  him
• 4:27
  a
• 4:27
  few
• 4:27
  years
• 4:28
  ago
• 4:28
  at
• 4:28
  a
• 4:28
  book
• 4:29
  signing.
• 4:30
  This,
• 4:30
  the
• 4:30
  one
• 4:31
  I'm
• 4:31
  reading
• 4:31
  now
• 4:31
  is
• 4:31
  an
• 4:32
  older
• 4:32
  one
• 4:32
  of
• 4:32
  his
• 4:32
  called
• 4:33
  Barrel
• 4:33
  Fever.
• 4:34
  Um,
• 4:34
  but
• 4:34
  I.
• 4:35
  Andy,
• 4:35
  are
• 4:35
  you
• 4:35
  familiar
• 4:36
  with
• 4:36
  Sedaris
• 4:36
  and
• 4:37
  his.
• 4:37
  Like
• 4:37
  he.
• 4:38
  I
• 4:38
  don't
• 4:38
  believe
• 4:38
  I've
• 4:38
  read
• 4:39
  any
• 4:39
  of
• 4:39
  his
• 4:39
  writing.
• 4:39
  I
• 4:39
  mean,
• 4:39
  I'm
• 4:40
  a
• 4:40
  little
• 4:40
  bit
• 4:40
  familiar
• 4:40
  with
• 4:40
  him
• 4:40
  as
• 4:41
  a
• 4:41
  cultural
• 4:41
  figure,
• 4:41
  but.
• 4:42
  Right,
• 4:43
  right.
• 4:43
  I
• 4:43
  mean,
• 4:43
  pretty
• 4:44
  much.
• 4:44
  If
• 4:44
  you've
• 4:44
  ever
• 4:45
  visited
• 4:46
  New
• 4:46
  Yorker
• 4:46
  or.
• 4:48
  Yeah,
• 4:48
  like.
• 4:49
  Or
• 4:49
  npr.
• 4:50
  I
• 4:50
  mean,
• 4:50
  you
• 4:50
  probably
• 4:50
  come
• 4:51
  across
• 4:51
  his
• 4:51
  essays
• 4:51
  at
• 4:52
  some
• 4:52
  point,
• 4:52
  right?
• 4:53
  Yeah,
• 4:53
  I
• 4:53
  mean,
• 4:54
  like,
• 4:54
  he's
• 4:54
  a.
• 4:55
  Yeah.
• 4:55
  And
• 4:55
  he's
• 4:55
  particularly
• 4:56
  iconic
• 4:57
  in
• 4:57
  North
• 4:57
  Carolina
• 4:58
  because
• 4:58
  he
• 4:58
  grew
• 4:58
  up
• 4:58
  in
• 4:58
  Raleigh.
• 4:59
  But
• 4:59
  yeah,
• 5:00
  he's
• 5:00
  a
• 5:01
  humor
• 5:01
  essayist.
• 5:02
  And
• 5:03
  a
• 5:03
  lot
• 5:03
  of
• 5:03
  his
• 5:03
  works,
• 5:04
  like
• 5:05
  some,
• 5:05
  it's
• 5:05
  complete
• 5:06
  like
• 5:06
  fiction
• 5:06
  and
• 5:06
  like
• 5:07
  delves
• 5:07
  into
• 5:08
  absurdity.
• 5:08
  And
• 5:08
  he
• 5:09
  has
• 5:09
  just
• 5:09
  this
• 5:09
  relentless
• 5:10
  wit
• 5:10
  that
• 5:10
  carries
• 5:11
  throughout
• 5:11
  his
• 5:12
  writing.
• 5:13
  And
• 5:13
  then
• 5:13
  a
• 5:13
  lot
• 5:13
  of
• 5:14
  his
• 5:14
  other
• 5:14
  essays
• 5:14
  are
• 5:15
  based
• 5:16
  on
• 5:16
  things
• 5:16
  he
• 5:17
  actually
• 5:17
  experienced.
• 5:18
  But
• 5:18
  he
• 5:18
  does
• 5:19
  it
• 5:19
  through
• 5:19
  a
• 5:19
  very
• 5:19
  humorous
• 5:20
  lens.
• 5:21
  So
• 5:21
  I
• 5:22
  love
• 5:22
  his
• 5:22
  stuff.
• 5:22
  So
• 5:22
  Bear
• 5:23
  Elfievre
• 5:23
  is
• 5:23
  one
• 5:24
  of
• 5:24
  his
• 5:24
  older
• 5:24
  collections
• 5:26
  and
• 5:26
  again,
• 5:26
  I've
• 5:27
  read
• 5:27
  most
• 5:27
  of
• 5:28
  the
• 5:28
  ones
• 5:29
  like
• 5:29
  in
• 5:30
  recent
• 5:30
  years
• 5:30
  and
• 5:31
  he
• 5:31
  has
• 5:31
  one
• 5:31
  coming
• 5:32
  out
• 5:32
  this
• 5:32
  month
• 5:33
  as
• 5:33
  well.
• 5:33
  So
• 5:33
  that's
• 5:34
  what
• 5:34
  I'm
• 5:34
  reading
• 5:34
  now.
• 5:35
  As
• 5:35
  far
• 5:35
  as
• 5:36
  finished,
• 5:36
  like
• 5:36
  I'm
• 5:37
  trying
• 5:37
  to
• 5:37
  think
• 5:37
  because
• 5:37
  I've
• 5:37
  been
• 5:38
  reading
• 5:38
  a
• 5:38
  lot
• 5:38
  of
• 5:38
  comics,
• 5:40
  I
• 5:40
  guess.
• 5:40
  One
• 5:40
  I
• 5:41
  revisited
• 5:42
  recently
• 5:43
  was
• 5:43
  the
• 5:43
  first
• 5:44
  volume
• 5:45
  of
• 5:45
  American
• 5:45
  Vampire,
• 5:47
  written
• 5:47
  by
• 5:48
  Scott
• 5:48
  Snyder
• 5:49
  and
• 5:49
  Stephen
• 5:49
  King.
• 5:49
  That
• 5:50
  was
• 5:50
  back
• 5:50
  when
• 5:50
  Snyder
• 5:51
  was
• 5:51
  sort
• 5:51
  of
• 5:51
  starting
• 5:51
  out,
• 5:53
  like
• 5:53
  around.
• 5:53
  Like
• 5:54
  around
• 5:54
  the
• 5:55
  time
• 5:55
  he
• 5:55
  started
• 5:55
  writing
• 5:56
  Batman.
• 5:57
  And
• 5:58
  this
• 5:58
  was
• 5:58
  a
• 5:59
  book
• 5:59
  for
• 5:59
  Vertigo,
• 6:00
  illustrated
• 6:01
  by
• 6:01
  Raphael
• 6:02
  Albuquerque
• 6:03
  and
• 6:04
  fascinating
• 6:05
  horror
• 6:05
  Western.
• 6:07
  Yeah,
• 6:07
  I
• 6:07
  mean,
• 6:08
  it's
• 6:09
  Stephen
• 6:09
  King
• 6:09
  co
• 6:10
  writing
• 6:10
  it,
• 6:11
  to
• 6:12
  my
• 6:12
  knowledge,
• 6:12
  one
• 6:13
  of
• 6:13
  the
• 6:13
  only
• 6:13
  comics
• 6:13
  he's
• 6:14
  co
• 6:14
  written.
• 6:15
  He's
• 6:15
  had
• 6:15
  many
• 6:15
  of
• 6:15
  his
• 6:16
  works
• 6:16
  adapted
• 6:16
  into
• 6:16
  comics,
• 6:17
  but
• 6:17
  this
• 6:18
  is
• 6:18
  one
• 6:18
  he
• 6:19
  directly
• 6:19
  helped
• 6:20
  get
• 6:20
  off
• 6:20
  the
• 6:20
  ground
• 6:21
  and
• 6:21
  co
• 6:21
  created.
• 6:22
  But
• 6:22
  it's
• 6:23
  a
• 6:23
  30s
• 6:24
  set,
• 6:25
  early
• 6:26
  20s
• 6:26
  and
• 6:26
  30s
• 6:26
  noir
• 6:27
  that
• 6:27
  also
• 6:28
  jumps
• 6:28
  back
• 6:28
  and
• 6:28
  forth
• 6:29
  between
• 6:30
  that
• 6:30
  time
• 6:30
  period
• 6:31
  and
• 6:31
  then
• 6:33
  late
• 6:33
  1800s
• 6:35
  and
• 6:35
  deals
• 6:36
  with
• 6:36
  vampires
• 6:37
  in
• 6:37
  the
• 6:38
  more
• 6:38
  classic
• 6:39
  sense,
• 6:40
  bringing
• 6:41
  to
• 6:41
  life
• 6:41
  the
• 6:41
  very
• 6:42
  horror
• 6:42
  roots
• 6:43
  of
• 6:43
  vampires
• 6:44
  and
• 6:44
  kind
• 6:44
  of
• 6:44
  getting
• 6:44
  away
• 6:45
  from
• 6:45
  the
• 6:45
  more
• 6:45
  like
• 6:46
  teen
• 6:46
  vampire,
• 6:47
  modern
• 6:48
  romance
• 6:49
  type
• 6:49
  stuff
• 6:50
  that's
• 6:50
  very
• 6:50
  prevalent
• 6:51
  in
• 6:51
  the
• 6:51
  modern
• 6:52
  age.
• 6:52
  So
• 6:53
  I
• 6:53
  love
• 6:53
  that
• 6:53
  series.
• 6:53
  It
• 6:54
  was
• 6:54
  a
• 6:54
  lot
• 6:54
  of
• 6:54
  fun
• 6:54
  revisiting
• 6:55
  the
• 6:55
  first
• 6:55
  volume.
• 6:56
  And
• 6:56
  then
• 6:57
  also
• 6:57
  within
• 6:58
  a
• 6:58
  topical
• 6:59
  here
• 6:59
  I've
• 6:59
  been
• 7:00
  going
• 7:00
  back
• 7:00
  through
• 7:01
  some
• 7:01
  of
• 7:01
  Jeff,
• 7:01
  John,
• 7:01
  Superman,
• 7:03
  so
• 7:03
  a
• 7:03
  lot
• 7:03
  of
• 7:04
  comics.
• 7:04
  I
• 7:04
  have
• 7:05
  the
• 7:05
  DC
• 7:06
  Universe
• 7:06
  app
• 7:07
  now,
• 7:07
  so
• 7:07
  I've
• 7:07
  been
• 7:07
  reading
• 7:08
  a
• 7:08
  ton
• 7:08
  on
• 7:08
  there.
• 7:09
  But
• 7:09
  yeah,
• 7:10
  so
• 7:10
  I.
• 7:11
  A
• 7:11
  lot
• 7:11
  of
• 7:11
  great
• 7:11
  literature
• 7:12
  out
• 7:12
  there.
• 7:12
  And
• 7:12
  that's
• 7:13
  what
• 7:13
  we're
• 7:13
  gonna
• 7:13
  talk
• 7:14
  about
• 7:14
  tonight
• 7:14
  with
• 7:15
  again,
• 7:15
  this
• 7:15
  one
• 7:16
  specifically
• 7:16
  with
• 7:16
  the
• 7:16
  screenplay.
• 7:18
  So,
• 7:18
  Andy,
• 7:18
  thank
• 7:18
  you
• 7:19
  so
• 7:19
  much
• 7:19
  for
• 7:19
  sharing
• 7:20
  and
• 7:21
  for
• 7:21
  our
• 7:21
  listeners
• 7:22
  and
• 7:22
  viewers,
• 7:23
  please,
• 7:24
  you
• 7:24
  know,
• 7:24
  like
• 7:25
  rate,
• 7:25
  review
• 7:25
  the
• 7:26
  show
• 7:26
  wherever.
• 7:26

  We

  appreciate
• 7:35
  it.
• 7:35
  You
• 7:35
  know,
• 7:35
  tell
• 7:35
  your
• 7:36
  friends
• 7:36
  about
• 7:36
  the

• 7:37
  If
• 7:37
  you

  like
• 7:37
  us,
• 7:38
  hey,
• 7:38
  give
• 7:38
  a.
• 7:38
  Give
• 7:38

• 7:39
  a
• 7:39
  shout
• 7:39
  out.
• 7:40
  And
• 7:40
  you
• 7:41
  can
• 7:41
  also
• 7:42
  become
• 7:43
  a
• 7:44
  financial
• 7:44
  supporter.

• 7:49
  And
• 7:50
  we
• 7:50
  want
• 7:50
  to
• 7:50
  thank
• 7:50
  one
• 7:50
  of
• 7:51
  our
• 7:51
  financial
• 7:51

• 7:52
  tonight,
• 7:52
  Aaron
• 7:53
  Hardy.
• 7:53
  Thank
• 7:54
  you
• 7:54
  so
• 7:54
  much
• 7:54
  for
• 7:55
  supporting
• 7:56
  the
• 7:56
  show.
• 7:56
  You
• 7:56
  rock.
• 7:57
  And
• 7:58
  yeah,
• 7:58
  if
• 7:58
  you
• 7:58
  do
• 7:59
  become
• 7:59
  a
• 7:59
  financial
• 8:00
  supporter,
• 8:00
  you
• 8:00
  can
• 8:01
  get
• 8:01
  a
• 8:01
  shout
• 8:01
  out
• 8:01
  on
• 8:01
  the
• 8:02

• 8:03
  and
• 8:03
  you'll
• 8:03
  get
• 8:03
  other
• 8:04
  benefits
• 8:04
  and
• 8:04
  perks.
• 8:05
  So,
• 8:06
  yeah,
• 8:06
  check
• 8:06
  it
• 8:07
  out
• 8:08
  and
• 8:08
  you
• 8:09
  can
• 8:09
  again
• 8:10
  woods
• 8:10
  the
• 8:10
  network.
• 8:11
  This
• 8:11
  is
• 8:11
  an
• 8:11
  episode
• 8:12
  of
• 8:13
  our
• 8:13
  All
• 8:13
  Reading
• 8:14
  Counts
• 8:15
  series
• 8:15
  and
• 8:17
  any
• 8:17
  purchases
• 8:18
  of
• 8:18
  our
• 8:19
  All
• 8:19
  Reading
• 8:19
  Counts
• 8:19
  merchandise,
• 8:21
  bonus
• 8:22
  questions
• 8:22
  or
• 8:22
  donations
• 8:23
  are
• 8:24
  marked.
• 8:24
  All
• 8:24
  reading
• 8:25
  counts
• 8:25
  will
• 8:25
  go
• 8:26
  to
• 8:26
  supporting
• 8:26
  our
• 8:27
  local
• 8:27
  libraries.
• 8:28
  So
• 8:28
  this
• 8:29
  is
• 8:29
  a
• 8:29
  series
• 8:30
  I
• 8:30
  know
• 8:30
  Andy
• 8:30
  and
• 8:30
  I
• 8:31
  are
• 8:31
  really
• 8:31
  happy
• 8:31
  to
• 8:32
  be
• 8:32
  a
• 8:32
  part
• 8:32
  of
• 8:32
  for
• 8:32
  that
• 8:32
  reason.
• 8:33
  So
• 8:33
  go
• 8:34
  check
• 8:34
  out
• 8:34
  all
• 8:34
  that
• 8:35
  again.
• 8:35
  Links
• 8:35
  are
• 8:36
  in
• 8:36
  the
• 8:36
  description
• 8:37
  and
• 8:38
  we
• 8:38
  really
• 8:38
  appreciate
• 8:38
  the
• 8:39
  support.
• 8:39
  Well,
• 8:40
  so
• 8:40
  Andy,
• 8:41
  before
• 8:41
  we
• 8:41
  get
• 8:41
  into
• 8:42
  this
• 8:42
  specific
• 8:43
  topic,
• 8:44
  you
• 8:44
  know,
• 8:44
  I
• 8:44
  like
• 8:45
  you
• 8:45
  especially,
• 8:45
  you
• 8:46
  know,
• 8:46
  you're
• 8:46
  very
• 8:46
  much
• 8:46
  an
• 8:47
  academic
• 8:47
  and
• 8:48
  I
• 8:49
  know
• 8:49
  you
• 8:49
  know
• 8:50
  reading
• 8:50
  means
• 8:51
  a
• 8:51
  lot
• 8:51
  to
• 8:52
  you
• 8:52
  and
• 8:52
  I.
• 8:53
  And
• 8:53
  so
• 8:54
  I
• 8:54
  guess
• 8:55
  I
• 8:55
  know
• 8:56
  it's
• 8:56
  a
• 8:56
  like
• 8:56
  big
• 8:57
  broad
• 8:57
  question
• 8:57
  about
• 8:58
  like
• 8:58
  why
• 8:58
  reading
• 8:59
  is
• 8:59
  important,
• 9:00
  but
• 9:01
  is
• 9:01
  there
• 9:01
  anything
• 9:02
  you
• 9:02
  want
• 9:02
  to
• 9:02
  add
• 9:02
  to
• 9:02
  that
• 9:03
  from
• 9:03
  a
• 9:04
  personal
• 9:04
  perspective
• 9:05
  and
• 9:05
  for
• 9:05
  you
• 9:05
  about
• 9:06
  like
• 9:06
  just
• 9:07
  how
• 9:07
  you
• 9:08
  fell
• 9:08
  in
• 9:08
  love
• 9:08
  with
• 9:08
  literature?
• 9:09
  Yeah,
• 9:10
  I
• 9:10
  mean,
• 9:10
  I
• 9:11
  guess
• 9:11
  I
• 9:11
  would
• 9:11
  just
• 9:11
  say
• 9:12
  my
• 9:12
  memories
• 9:13
  are
• 9:13
  more
• 9:13
  strongly
• 9:14
  associated
• 9:14
  with
• 9:14
  my
• 9:14
  kids
• 9:15
  now
• 9:15
  than
• 9:15
  my
• 9:16
  own
• 9:16
  experience
• 9:16
  learning
• 9:16
  to
• 9:17
  read.
• 9:17
  But
• 9:17
  seeing
• 9:18
  them
• 9:18
  learn
• 9:19
  how
• 9:19
  to
• 9:19
  read
• 9:19
  and
• 9:19
  how
• 9:19
  that
• 9:20
  opened
• 9:20
  up
• 9:20
  the
• 9:21
  opportunity
• 9:22
  to
• 9:22
  engage
• 9:23
  with
• 9:23
  different
• 9:23
  kinds
• 9:23
  of
• 9:23
  worlds
• 9:24
  and
• 9:24
  different
• 9:24
  kinds
• 9:24
  of
• 9:24
  ideas
• 9:26
  and
• 9:26
  something
• 9:27
  without
• 9:28
  giving
• 9:28
  away
• 9:28
  too
• 9:28
  many
• 9:29
  personal
• 9:29
  details
• 9:30
  for
• 9:30
  Some
• 9:30
  people,
• 9:32
  language,
• 9:32
  communication.
• 9:33
  Speech
• 9:33
  communication
• 9:34
  is
• 9:34
  a
• 9:34
  little
• 9:34
  bit
• 9:35
  more
• 9:35
  challenging.
• 9:35
  Figuring
• 9:35
  out
• 9:36
  what
• 9:36
  to
• 9:36
  say
• 9:36
  is
• 9:36
  a
• 9:36
  little
• 9:36
  bit
• 9:37
  more
• 9:37
  challenging.
• 9:38
  And
• 9:38
  being
• 9:39
  able
• 9:39
  to
• 9:39
  read
• 9:39
  and
• 9:41
  absorb
• 9:41
  the
• 9:41
  written
• 9:42
  word
• 9:42
  and
• 9:42
  then
• 9:43
  use
• 9:44
  that
• 9:44
  to
• 9:44
  construct
• 9:44
  how
• 9:45
  you
• 9:45
  speak
• 9:45
  to
• 9:45
  other
• 9:45
  people
• 9:46
  can
• 9:46
  be
• 9:46
  very
• 9:47
  helpful
• 9:47
  for
• 9:47
  some
• 9:48
  people,
• 9:49
  old,
• 9:49
  young
• 9:49
  and
• 9:50
  otherwise.
• 9:51
  And
• 9:52
  something
• 9:52
  that
• 9:53
  we
• 9:53
  saw
• 9:53
  personally
• 9:54
  in
• 9:54
  our
• 9:54
  family.
• 9:54
  And
• 9:55
  so,
• 9:55
  yeah,
• 9:55
  I
• 9:55
  think
• 9:55
  that
• 9:56
  is
• 9:56
  one
• 9:56
  specific.
• 9:57
  It's
• 9:57
  not
• 9:57
  going
• 9:57
  to
• 9:58
  mean
• 9:59
  as
• 9:59
  much
• 10:00
  to
• 10:00
  everybody,
• 10:00
  but
• 10:00
  that's
• 10:01
  definitely
• 10:01
  one
• 10:01
  specific
• 10:01
  benefit
• 10:02
  that
• 10:02
  reading
• 10:02
  can
• 10:03
  have
• 10:03
  and
• 10:03
  learning
• 10:03
  how
• 10:03
  to
• 10:04
  read
• 10:04
  can
• 10:04
  have
• 10:04
  for
• 10:05
  some
• 10:05
  kind
• 10:05
  of
• 10:05
  people
• 10:05
  is
• 10:05
  just
• 10:06
  helping
• 10:06
  them
• 10:06
  to
• 10:06
  then
• 10:07
  engage
• 10:08
  more
• 10:08
  fully
• 10:09
  with
• 10:09
  the
• 10:09
  other
• 10:10
  people
• 10:10
  around
• 10:10
  them.
• 10:10
  I
• 10:10
  love
• 10:11
  that.
• 10:11
  So
• 10:11
  well
• 10:11
  played.
• 10:12
  And
• 10:12
  you
• 10:12
  know,
• 10:12
  Andy,
• 10:13
  you
• 10:13
  and
• 10:13
  I
• 10:13
  were
• 10:13
  just
• 10:13
  talking
• 10:14
  before
• 10:14
  recording.
• 10:15
  Like
• 10:15
  I.
• 10:15
  I
• 10:15
  took
• 10:15
  my
• 10:15
  niece
• 10:16
  and
• 10:16
  nephew
• 10:16
  to
• 10:17
  Barnes
• 10:17
  and
• 10:17
  Noble
• 10:18
  today
• 10:18
  and
• 10:18
  I.
• 10:19
  And
• 10:19
  then
• 10:19
  they
• 10:19
  sell
• 10:20
  a
• 10:20
  lot
• 10:20
  of
• 10:20
  like
• 10:20
  toys
• 10:21
  and
• 10:21
  puzzles
• 10:21
  at
• 10:22
  Barnes
• 10:22
  Noble
• 10:22
  as
• 10:23
  well,
• 10:23
  which
• 10:23
  is
• 10:23
  nothing
• 10:23
  wrong
• 10:23
  with
• 10:23
  that.
• 10:23
  But
• 10:24
  I
• 10:24
  told
• 10:24
  them
• 10:24
  day,
• 10:24
  I'm
• 10:25
  like,
• 10:25
  we're
• 10:25
  getting
• 10:25
  books.
• 10:25
  Okay,
• 10:26
  so
• 10:26
  you
• 10:26
  guys
• 10:26
  got,
• 10:26
  you
• 10:27
  get
• 10:27
  it.
• 10:27
  You
• 10:27
  get
• 10:27
  a
• 10:27
  coloring
• 10:27
  book,
• 10:28
  that's
• 10:28
  really
• 10:28
  fine.
• 10:28
  But
• 10:29
  like,
• 10:29
  but
• 10:30
  let's
• 10:30
  get
• 10:30
  something,
• 10:30
  you
• 10:31
  know,
• 10:31
  with
• 10:31
  words,
• 10:31
  with
• 10:32
  pictures
• 10:32
  and.
• 10:33
  And
• 10:33
  they
• 10:34
  were
• 10:34
  very
• 10:34
  excited
• 10:34
  and
• 10:35
  similar
• 10:35
  to
• 10:35
  you.
• 10:36
  It's
• 10:36
  like
• 10:36
  I'm
• 10:36
  in
• 10:36
  that
• 10:36
  phase
• 10:37
  now
• 10:37
  where
• 10:38
  watching
• 10:38
  them
• 10:38
  grow
• 10:39
  up
• 10:39
  and
• 10:40
  you
• 10:40
  know,
• 10:41
  getting.
• 10:41
  Seeing
• 10:42
  them
• 10:42
  learn
• 10:42
  how
• 10:43
  to
• 10:43
  read,
• 10:43
  learn
• 10:43
  how
• 10:43
  to
• 10:44
  really
• 10:44
  appreciate
• 10:45
  stories
• 10:46
  and
• 10:47
  you
• 10:47
  know,
• 10:47
  they're
• 10:48
  like
• 10:48
  my.
• 10:48
  Because
• 10:49
  my
• 10:49
  needs
• 10:49
  and
• 10:49
  nephews
• 10:49
  are
• 10:50
  9,
• 10:51
  6
• 10:51
  and
• 10:52
  5.
• 10:52
  And
• 10:52
  so
• 10:53
  particularly
• 10:53
  with
• 10:53
  my
• 10:54
  younger
• 10:54
  nephew,
• 10:54
  I
• 10:55
  read
• 10:55
  him
• 10:55
  a
• 10:55
  lot
• 10:56
  of
• 10:56
  children's
• 10:56
  books
• 10:57
  that
• 10:57
  we
• 10:57
  have
• 10:57
  out
• 10:57
  in
• 10:57
  the
• 10:57
  playroom
• 10:58
  and
• 10:58
  it's
• 10:58
  one
• 10:59
  of
• 10:59
  my
• 10:59
  favorite
• 10:59
  things
• 10:59
  like
• 11:00
  to
• 11:00
  do.
• 11:00
  And
• 11:00
  I
• 11:00
  just
• 11:00
  love,
• 11:01
  you
• 11:01
  know,
• 11:02
  seeing
• 11:02
  their
• 11:02
  reactions,
• 11:03
  seeing
• 11:04
  which
• 11:04
  stories
• 11:04
  resonate
• 11:05
  with
• 11:05
  them.
• 11:06
  It
• 11:06
  is
• 11:06
  such
• 11:06
  a
• 11:07
  cool
• 11:07
  thing
• 11:07
  to
• 11:07
  be
• 11:07
  a
• 11:07
  part
• 11:07
  of,
• 11:08
  especially
• 11:08
  in
• 11:09
  this
• 11:09
  day
• 11:09
  and
• 11:09
  age
• 11:09
  where
• 11:10
  there
• 11:10
  are
• 11:11
  so
• 11:11
  many
• 11:11
  technological
• 11:12
  distractions
• 11:13
  and
• 11:13
  you
• 11:14
  know,
• 11:14
  other
• 11:14
  areas
• 11:15
  that
• 11:15
  really
• 11:16
  are
• 11:16
  trying
• 11:16
  to
• 11:17
  capture
• 11:17
  kids
• 11:18
  attention.
• 11:18
  And
• 11:19
  when
• 11:19
  you
• 11:19
  have
• 11:20
  a
• 11:20
  physical
• 11:20
  book
• 11:20
  in
• 11:21
  their
• 11:21
  hands
• 11:21
  that
• 11:21
  they
• 11:21
  can
• 11:22
  appreciate,
• 11:23
  look
• 11:23
  at
• 11:23
  the
• 11:23
  art,
• 11:24
  look
• 11:24
  at
• 11:24
  the
• 11:24
  words.
• 11:25
  Yeah,
• 11:26
  there's
• 11:26
  fewer
• 11:27
  things
• 11:27
  that
• 11:27
  bring
• 11:28
  me
• 11:28
  as
• 11:28
  much
• 11:28
  joy
• 11:29
  as
• 11:29
  that.
• 11:29
  Um,
• 11:30
  so
• 11:30
  I
• 11:30
  think,
• 11:30
  you
• 11:31
  know,
• 11:31
  that
• 11:31
  that's
• 11:31
  absolutely
• 11:32
  one
• 11:32
  of
• 11:32
  the
• 11:33
  things
• 11:34
  I
• 11:34
  think
• 11:34
  about
• 11:34
  a
• 11:34
  lot
• 11:35
  when
• 11:35
  we
• 11:35
  talk
• 11:35
  about
• 11:36
  the
• 11:36
  importance
• 11:37
  of
• 11:37
  literature,
• 11:37
  the
• 11:38
  importance
• 11:38
  of
• 11:38
  reading
• 11:39
  and
• 11:40
  there.
• 11:40
  And
• 11:41
  you
• 11:41
  know,
• 11:41
  we
• 11:41
  call
• 11:42
  this
• 11:42
  series
• 11:42
  All
• 11:43
  Reading
• 11:43
  Counts
• 11:43
  because
• 11:44
  we're
• 11:44
  not.
• 11:46
  The
• 11:46
  idea
• 11:47
  here
• 11:47
  is
• 11:47
  to
• 11:47
  not
• 11:48
  be.
• 11:48
  The
• 11:49
  idea
• 11:49
  here
• 11:49
  is
• 11:50
  to
• 11:50
  not
• 11:50
  be
• 11:51
  snobby.
• 11:51
  Like,
• 11:51
  you
• 11:52
  know,
• 11:52
  we
• 11:52
  don't
• 11:52
  have
• 11:52
  to
• 11:53
  have
• 11:53
  a
• 11:53
  differentiation
• 11:54
  between
• 11:55
  quote
• 11:55
  unquote,
• 11:56
  high
• 11:56
  literature
• 11:57
  and
• 11:58
  you
• 11:58
  know,
• 11:58
  something
• 11:58
  like
• 11:59
  what
• 11:59
  we're
• 11:59
  discussing
• 11:59
  today,
• 12:00
  which
• 12:00
  is
• 12:00
  a
• 12:00
  screenplay
• 12:00
  draft.
• 12:01
  Like,
• 12:01
  I
• 12:01
  mean,
• 12:01
  all
• 12:02
  reading
• 12:02
  counts.
• 12:02
  All
• 12:02
  reading,
• 12:03
  I
• 12:03
  think,
• 12:03
  helps
• 12:04
  you
• 12:05
  activate
• 12:06
  your
• 12:06
  imagination.
• 12:07
  It
• 12:08
  helps
• 12:08
  see
• 12:10
  ideas
• 12:10
  expressed.
• 12:11
  And,
• 12:12
  you
• 12:12
  know,
• 12:13
  we,
• 12:13
  Andy
• 12:13
  and
• 12:13
  I
• 12:14
  are
• 12:14
  big
• 12:14
  comic
• 12:15
  book
• 12:15
  readers,
• 12:15
  and
• 12:16
  I
• 12:16
  think
• 12:16
  there's
• 12:16
  still,
• 12:17
  I
• 12:17
  mean,
• 12:17
  the
• 12:17
  stigma
• 12:18
  around
• 12:18
  that
• 12:18
  has,
• 12:19
  I
• 12:19
  think,
• 12:19
  decreased.
• 12:20
  But
• 12:20
  there
• 12:20
  are
• 12:20
  still
• 12:21
  people
• 12:21
  out
• 12:21
  there
• 12:21
  who
• 12:21
  are
• 12:22
  like,
• 12:22
  oh,
• 12:22
  well,
• 12:22
  you're
• 12:22
  an
• 12:23
  adult
• 12:23
  who
• 12:23
  reads
• 12:23
  comics,
• 12:24
  you
• 12:24
  know,
• 12:24
  like.
• 12:24
  Well,
• 12:24
  like,
• 12:25
  like,
• 12:25
  come
• 12:26
  grow
• 12:26
  up,
• 12:26
  you
• 12:26
  know,
• 12:27
  and,
• 12:27
  you
• 12:27
  know,
• 12:27
  I
• 12:28
  always.
• 12:29
  My
• 12:29
  rebuttal
• 12:29
  to
• 12:30
  that
• 12:30
  is,
• 12:30
  well,
• 12:31
  comics
• 12:32
  is
• 12:32
  a
• 12:32
  medium,
• 12:32
  and
• 12:33
  it's
• 12:33
  a
• 12:33
  form
• 12:33
  of
• 12:34
  storytelling
• 12:35
  that
• 12:35
  has
• 12:35
  just
• 12:36
  as
• 12:36
  much
• 12:36
  merit
• 12:36
  as
• 12:37
  a
• 12:37
  novel.
• 12:38
  And,
• 12:38
  you
• 12:38
  know,
• 12:39
  whatever
• 12:39
  you're
• 12:40
  reading,
• 12:40
  I.
• 12:41
  I
• 12:41
  think
• 12:42
  it's
• 12:42
  just
• 12:42
  important
• 12:42
  to
• 12:43
  embrace
• 12:43
  it.
• 12:43
  It's
• 12:43
  important
• 12:44
  to,
• 12:44
  you
• 12:45
  know,
• 12:45
  see
• 12:46
  what
• 12:46
  you
• 12:46
  gravitate
• 12:47
  toward.
• 12:47
  And,
• 12:48
  and
• 12:48
  we
• 12:48
  read
• 12:48
  all
• 12:48
  kinds
• 12:49
  of
• 12:49
  books.
• 12:49
  I
• 12:49
  mean,
• 12:49
  you
• 12:49
  know,
• 12:50
  Andy
• 12:50
  is
• 12:50
  very
• 12:50
  much
• 12:50
  an
• 12:51
  academic,
• 12:51
  so
• 12:51
  you're
• 12:52
  reading
• 12:53
  heavy
• 12:54
  level
• 12:54
  science
• 12:56
  books
• 12:56
  at
• 12:56
  times,
• 12:56
  and
• 12:57
  then
• 12:57
  you
• 12:57
  can
• 12:57
  also
• 12:58
  be
• 12:58
  reading
• 12:58
  a
• 12:59
  comic
• 12:59
  or
• 13:00
  a
• 13:00
  light
• 13:00
  novel.
• 13:00
  And
• 13:01
  I
• 13:01
  think
• 13:01
  all
• 13:02
  of
• 13:02
  those
• 13:02
  things
• 13:02
  matter.
• 13:03
  Yeah.
• 13:03
  And
• 13:04
  I
• 13:04
  would
• 13:04
  just
• 13:04
  add
• 13:05
  language
• 13:05
  and
• 13:05
  abstract
• 13:06
  thinking
• 13:06
  are
• 13:07
  one
• 13:07
  of
• 13:07
  the
• 13:07
  human
• 13:07
  superpowers,
• 13:08
  and
• 13:09
  anything
• 13:09
  that
• 13:10
  you
• 13:10
  can
• 13:10
  do
• 13:10
  to
• 13:11
  expand
• 13:12
  your
• 13:12
  abilities
• 13:13
  in
• 13:13
  that
• 13:13
  regard,
• 13:13
  I
• 13:13
  think
• 13:15
  is
• 13:15
  worthwhile.
• 13:15
  I
• 13:16
  love
• 13:16
  it.
• 13:16
  Absolutely.
• 13:17
  Absolutely.
• 13:18
  So,
• 13:19
  yeah,
• 13:19
  I.
• 13:20
  As
• 13:20
  I
• 13:21
  mentioned
• 13:21
  earlier,
• 13:23
  I'm
• 13:23
  very
• 13:23
  excited
• 13:24
  for
• 13:24
  this
• 13:24
  topic.
• 13:25
  We
• 13:25
  are
• 13:25
  talking
• 13:26
  about
• 13:27
  Kevin
• 13:27
  Smith
• 13:28
  tonight
• 13:28
  and
• 13:28
  specifically
• 13:29
  his
• 13:30
  unproduced
• 13:31
  screenplay
• 13:32
  draft
• 13:32
  for
• 13:32
  a
• 13:33
  Superman
• 13:33
  film
• 13:33
  that
• 13:33
  he
• 13:34
  wrote
• 13:34
  in
• 13:34
  the
• 13:35
  90s.
• 13:35
  And
• 13:35
  I
• 13:35
  said
• 13:36
  Andy
• 13:36
  earlier.
• 13:36
  I.
• 13:37
  I
• 13:37
  met
• 13:37
  Kevin
• 13:37
  Smith
• 13:38
  at
• 13:38
  GalaxyCon
• 13:39
  in
• 13:40
  2022,
• 13:41
  and
• 13:41
  I've
• 13:41
  seen
• 13:41
  him
• 13:42
  live
• 13:42
  like
• 13:42
  five
• 13:43
  times.
• 13:44
  He's
• 13:45
  probably
• 13:45
  one
• 13:45
  of
• 13:46
  my
• 13:46
  most
• 13:46
  influential
• 13:47
  figures
• 13:47
  in
• 13:48
  pop
• 13:48
  culture
• 13:49
  through
• 13:50
  his
• 13:50
  movies,
• 13:50
  through
• 13:51
  his
• 13:51
  comics
• 13:51
  work.
• 13:51
  And
• 13:52
  actually
• 13:52
  I
• 13:52
  discovered
• 13:53
  Kevin
• 13:53
  Smith.
• 13:54
  Well,
• 13:54
  actually,
• 13:55
  my.
• 13:55
  My
• 13:56
  very
• 13:56
  first
• 13:57
  interaction
• 13:58
  with.
• 13:58
  With
• 13:59
  Smith
• 13:59
  in
• 13:59
  anything
• 14:00
  was,
• 14:00
  oddly
• 14:00
  enough,
• 14:01
  in
• 14:01
  his
• 14:02
  cameo
• 14:02
  in
• 14:02
  Live
• 14:03
  Free
• 14:03
  or
• 14:03
  Die
• 14:03
  Hard,
• 14:04
  which
• 14:05
  I
• 14:05
  saw
• 14:05
  in,
• 14:05
  like,
• 14:05
  middle
• 14:06
  school.
• 14:07
  That
• 14:08
  was
• 14:08
  like,
• 14:08
  my
• 14:08
  first
• 14:09
  interaction
• 14:09
  with
• 14:09
  them.
• 14:10
  And
• 14:10
  it
• 14:10
  wasn't
• 14:10
  long
• 14:11
  after
• 14:11
  that
• 14:11
  that
• 14:12
  Comic
• 14:12
  Bookman
• 14:13
  premiered.
• 14:14
  And
• 14:14
  so
• 14:14
  I
• 14:14
  started
• 14:14
  watching
• 14:15
  that.
• 14:15
  And
• 14:15
  that
• 14:15
  was
• 14:15
  before
• 14:16
  I
• 14:16
  watched
• 14:17
  any
• 14:17
  of
• 14:17
  his
• 14:17
  movies.
• 14:18
  But
• 14:19
  later
• 14:19
  I
• 14:19
  watched
• 14:19
  his
• 14:19
  movies.
• 14:20
  I've
• 14:20
  seen
• 14:20
  him
• 14:20
  perform
• 14:21
  both
• 14:22
  comedy
• 14:22
  shows,
• 14:23
  and
• 14:23
  then
• 14:23
  I
• 14:23
  did
• 14:23
  his
• 14:24
  road
• 14:24
  shows
• 14:25
  for
• 14:26
  Clerks
• 14:26
  3
• 14:27
  and
• 14:27
  Jay
• 14:27
  and
• 14:27
  Silent
• 14:28
  Bob
• 14:28
  Reboot,
• 14:29
  where
• 14:29
  he
• 14:29
  went
• 14:29
  around
• 14:30
  to
• 14:30
  different
• 14:30
  theaters
• 14:31
  across
• 14:31
  the
• 14:31
  country
• 14:32
  to
• 14:32
  show
• 14:32
  these
• 14:32
  movies.
• 14:33
  And
• 14:34
  then
• 14:34
  with
• 14:34
  comics,
• 14:34
  I've
• 14:35
  read
• 14:35
  pretty
• 14:35
  much
• 14:35
  all
• 14:36
  those
• 14:36
  you
• 14:36
  have
• 14:36
  on
• 14:36
  the
• 14:36
  screen
• 14:37
  there.
• 14:37
  His
• 14:37
  Daredevil
• 14:38
  run
• 14:38
  is
• 14:38
  one
• 14:38
  of
• 14:38
  my
• 14:39
  favorites.
• 14:39
  And
• 14:39
  then
• 14:39
  the
• 14:40
  Batman
• 14:40
  66
• 14:41
  meets
• 14:41
  the
• 14:41
  green
• 14:41
  Hornet
• 14:42
  that
• 14:42
  you
• 14:42
  have
• 14:42
  there
• 14:42
  on
• 14:42
  the
• 14:43
  screen.
• 14:43
  And
• 14:44
  for
• 14:44
  listeners,
• 14:44
  he's
• 14:44
  got.
• 14:45
  Andy's
• 14:45
  got
• 14:45
  several
• 14:46
  covers
• 14:46
  of
• 14:46
  comics
• 14:47
  that
• 14:47
  Kevin
• 14:47
  Smith
• 14:48
  has
• 14:48
  written
• 14:48
  and
• 14:48
  the
• 14:49
  Batman
• 14:49
  66
• 14:50
  meets
• 14:50
  the
• 14:50
  green
• 14:50
  Hornet.
• 14:51
  That's
• 14:51
  actually
• 14:51
  the
• 14:51
  trade
• 14:52
  paperback
• 14:52
  that
• 14:52
  I
• 14:53
  brought
• 14:53
  when
• 14:53
  I
• 14:53
  got
• 14:54
  that
• 14:54
  picture
• 14:54
  with
• 14:54
  him,
• 14:55
  GalaxyCon,
• 14:56
  and
• 14:56
  he
• 14:56
  signed
• 14:57
  it
• 14:57
  for
• 14:57
  free.
• 14:57
  He
• 14:57
  was
• 14:57
  like
• 14:58
  the
• 14:58
  nicest
• 14:58
  guy.
• 14:59
  And
• 15:00
  yeah,
• 15:00
  that
• 15:00
  was.
• 15:01
  He
• 15:02
  wrote
• 15:02
  on
• 15:02
  the
• 15:03
  trade,
• 15:03
  kevin,
• 15:03
  I
• 15:04
  love
• 15:04
  you.
• 15:04
  So,
• 15:04
  yeah,
• 15:04
  we
• 15:05
  have
• 15:05
  that
• 15:05
  guy.
• 15:06
  But,
• 15:07
  yeah,
• 15:07
  he's
• 15:07
  one
• 15:07
  of
• 15:07
  my
• 15:07
  favorite
• 15:08
  pop
• 15:08
  culture
• 15:08
  icons.
• 15:09
  And
• 15:09
  what's
• 15:10
  kind
• 15:10
  of
• 15:10
  your
• 15:10
  background
• 15:11
  with
• 15:11
  Kevin
• 15:11
  Smith?
• 15:11
  Because
• 15:12
  I
• 15:12
  feel
• 15:12
  like
• 15:12
  all
• 15:12
  comic
• 15:13
  readers
• 15:13
  have
• 15:14
  some
• 15:14
  kind
• 15:14
  of
• 15:15
  history
• 15:16
  with
• 15:16
  him.
• 15:17
  Sure,
• 15:17
  yeah.
• 15:18
  I
• 15:18
  mean,
• 15:18
  I've
• 15:18
  definitely
• 15:18
  read
• 15:18
  some
• 15:19
  of
• 15:19
  his
• 15:19
  comics,
• 15:19
  his
• 15:19
  Daredevil,
• 15:21
  some
• 15:21
  of
• 15:21
  his
• 15:21
  other
• 15:22
  Marvel
• 15:22
  and
• 15:22
  DC
• 15:23
  work.
• 15:23
  I
• 15:23
  don't
• 15:23
  know
• 15:23
  that
• 15:23
  I've
• 15:24
  read
• 15:24
  any
• 15:24
  of
• 15:24
  his
• 15:25
  View
• 15:25
  Askew
• 15:27
  comics.
• 15:28
  And
• 15:29
  I'm
• 15:29
  not
• 15:30
  the
• 15:30
  biggest
• 15:30
  Kevin
• 15:31
  Smith
• 15:31
  movie
• 15:32
  buff.
• 15:32
  I've
• 15:32
  seen
• 15:33
  some
• 15:33
  of
• 15:33
  them,
• 15:33
  but
• 15:34
  not
• 15:35
  all
• 15:35
  of
• 15:35
  them
• 15:35
  exhaustively.
• 15:38
  I've
• 15:38
  not
• 15:39
  disliked
• 15:39
  anything
• 15:39
  necessarily
• 15:40
  that
• 15:41
  I've
• 15:41
  come
• 15:41
  across
• 15:41
  with
• 15:42
  Kevin
• 15:42
  Smith.
• 15:42
  And
• 15:42
  yes,
• 15:42
  by
• 15:43
  all
• 15:43
  accounts,
• 15:43
  he's
• 15:43
  super
• 15:44
  nice
• 15:44
  and
• 15:44
  super
• 15:44
  enthusiastic
• 15:45
  and
• 15:47
  very
• 15:49
  positive
• 15:50
  about
• 15:51
  his
• 15:51
  geek
• 15:53
  sides
• 15:53
  and
• 15:53
  encouraging
• 15:54
  other
• 15:54
  people's
• 15:54
  geekiness.
• 15:55
  So
• 15:56
  I
• 15:56
  don't
• 15:56
  necessarily
• 15:56
  have
• 15:56
  anything
• 15:57
  bad
• 15:57
  to
• 15:57
  say.
• 15:57
  I
• 15:58
  haven't
• 15:58
  necessarily
• 15:59
  engaged
• 15:59
  with
• 16:00
  all
• 16:00
  of
• 16:00
  his
• 16:01
  work
• 16:01
  to
• 16:02
  the
• 16:02
  same
• 16:02
  level.
• 16:02
  And
• 16:02
  I
• 16:02
  haven't
• 16:03
  had
• 16:03
  the
• 16:03
  opportunity
• 16:03
  to
• 16:04
  meet
• 16:04
  him
• 16:05
  in
• 16:05
  person,
• 16:05
  although
• 16:05
  that's
• 16:05
  probably
• 16:06
  on
• 16:06
  me,
• 16:06
  given
• 16:06
  how
• 16:06
  often
• 16:07
  he
• 16:07
  is
• 16:08
  out
• 16:08
  and
• 16:08
  about.
• 16:08
  He
• 16:09
  does
• 16:09
  if
• 16:09
  he,
• 16:10
  he's
• 16:10
  one
• 16:10
  of
• 16:10
  those
• 16:11
  characters
• 16:11
  that
• 16:11
  if
• 16:12
  you
• 16:12
  want
• 16:12
  to
• 16:12
  meet
• 16:12
  him,
• 16:13
  you
• 16:13
  probably
• 16:13
  can.
• 16:14
  I
• 16:14
  mean,
• 16:14
  he.
• 16:14
  He
• 16:14
  goes
• 16:15
  to
• 16:15
  shows
• 16:15
  still
• 16:15
  regularly.
• 16:16
  And
• 16:17
  I,
• 16:17
  I
• 16:17
  love
• 16:17
  what
• 16:17
  you
• 16:17
  said
• 16:18
  there.
• 16:18
  That's.
• 16:18
  I
• 16:18
  think,
• 16:18
  why
• 16:19
  I
• 16:19
  gravitated
• 16:20
  toward
• 16:20
  him
• 16:21
  so
• 16:21
  much
• 16:21
  as
• 16:21
  one
• 16:21
  of
• 16:21
  my
• 16:21
  favorite
• 16:22
  pop
• 16:22
  culture
• 16:23
  people,
• 16:23
  is
• 16:23
  that
• 16:24
  he
• 16:24
  is
• 16:24
  so,
• 16:25
  you
• 16:25
  know,
• 16:25
  unabashedly
• 16:26
  geeky
• 16:27
  and
• 16:27
  positive
• 16:28
  with
• 16:28
  this.
• 16:28
  You
• 16:29
  know,
• 16:29
  he's
• 16:29
  always
• 16:29
  been
• 16:30
  someone
• 16:31
  who,
• 16:31
  you
• 16:32
  know,
• 16:32
  encourages
• 16:33
  that
• 16:33
  fandom
• 16:34
  and
• 16:34
  that
• 16:35
  love
• 16:35
  of
• 16:37
  whether
• 16:37
  it's,
• 16:37
  you
• 16:38
  know,
• 16:38
  comic,
• 16:39
  you
• 16:39
  love
• 16:39
  a
• 16:39
  movie,
• 16:39
  whatever.
• 16:40
  And
• 16:40
  he
• 16:41
  tries
• 16:41
  to
• 16:41
  really
• 16:41
  foster
• 16:42
  an
• 16:42
  environment
• 16:42
  of
• 16:43
  positive
• 16:44
  fandom
• 16:44
  that
• 16:44
  unfortunately
• 16:45
  is
• 16:45
  very
• 16:45
  toxic
• 16:46
  in
• 16:46
  a
• 16:46
  lot
• 16:46
  of
• 16:46
  circles.
• 16:47
  And
• 16:48
  he
• 16:48
  tries
• 16:48
  to
• 16:48
  kind
• 16:48
  of
• 16:48
  counteract
• 16:49
  that.
• 16:50
  So
• 16:50
  he's
• 16:50
  always
• 16:51
  very
• 16:51
  positive
• 16:51
  in
• 16:52
  his
• 16:52
  podcast,
• 16:53
  at
• 16:53
  his
• 16:53
  live
• 16:53
  shows.
• 16:55
  He's
• 16:55
  just
• 16:55
  a
• 16:55
  goofy
• 16:56
  storyteller.
• 16:56
  And
• 16:56
  also,
• 16:57
  I
• 16:57
  mean,
• 16:57
  when
• 16:58
  he
• 16:58
  went,
• 16:58
  I
• 16:58
  mean,
• 16:59
  this
• 16:59
  is
• 16:59
  very.
• 16:59
  It's
• 17:00
  something
• 17:00
  he's
• 17:00
  talked
• 17:01
  about
• 17:01
  very
• 17:01
  publicly
• 17:02
  when
• 17:03
  he
• 17:03
  had
• 17:04
  his
• 17:04
  heart
• 17:04
  attack
• 17:04
  in
• 17:05
  2018,
• 17:07
  and,
• 17:07
  you
• 17:07
  know,
• 17:08
  like,
• 17:08
  it
• 17:08
  was
• 17:09
  a
• 17:09
  wake
• 17:09
  up
• 17:09
  call
• 17:09
  for
• 17:10
  him.
• 17:10
  And
• 17:11
  yeah,
• 17:11
  he's
• 17:11
  talked
• 17:12
  about
• 17:12
  this
• 17:12
  publicly
• 17:13
  numerous
• 17:14
  times,
• 17:14
  but
• 17:15
  it
• 17:16
  actually
• 17:16
  was
• 17:16
  a
• 17:17
  big
• 17:17
  source
• 17:17
  of
• 17:17
  inspiration
• 17:18
  for
• 17:18
  me
• 17:18
  when
• 17:19
  I
• 17:19
  got
• 17:19
  diagnosed
• 17:19
  with
• 17:20
  diabetes
• 17:20
  a
• 17:20
  few
• 17:20
  years
• 17:21
  ago.
• 17:21
  And
• 17:21
  I
• 17:21
  was
• 17:21
  kind
• 17:22
  of
• 17:22
  Terrified
• 17:23
  about
• 17:23
  how
• 17:24
  to
• 17:24
  wrestle
• 17:25
  with
• 17:25
  that.
• 17:25
  And
• 17:25
  he
• 17:25
  was
• 17:26
  actually
• 17:26
  a
• 17:26
  big
• 17:26
  source
• 17:26
  of
• 17:26
  inspiration
• 17:27
  for
• 17:28
  changing
• 17:28
  my
• 17:28
  lifestyle
• 17:29
  and
• 17:29
  getting
• 17:30
  like
• 17:30
  my
• 17:30
  diet
• 17:30
  under
• 17:31
  control.
• 17:31
  And
• 17:32
  so,
• 17:33
  you
• 17:33
  know,
• 17:33
  he's
• 17:33
  been
• 17:34
  not
• 17:34
  just
• 17:34
  a
• 17:34
  heavy
• 17:35
  influence
• 17:35
  on
• 17:35
  me
• 17:36
  in
• 17:36
  terms
• 17:36
  of
• 17:37
  his
• 17:37
  work,
• 17:37
  but
• 17:37
  as
• 17:38
  a
• 17:38
  person
• 17:38
  he's
• 17:39
  had,
• 17:39
  you
• 17:39
  know,
• 17:39
  a
• 17:39
  profound
• 17:40
  impact
• 17:40
  on
• 17:40
  me.
• 17:41
  So
• 17:41
  I,
• 17:42
  yeah,
• 17:42
  I
• 17:42
  like
• 17:42
  it
• 17:42
  and
• 17:43
  I,
• 17:43
  I
• 17:43
  like,
• 17:44
  I
• 17:44
  only
• 17:44
  met
• 17:44
  him
• 17:45
  briefly
• 17:45
  at
• 17:46
  that
• 17:46
  show,
• 17:46
  but
• 17:47
  it
• 17:47
  was
• 17:47
  definitely
• 17:47
  one
• 17:48
  of
• 17:48
  like
• 17:48
  my
• 17:48
  favorite
• 17:49
  people
• 17:49
  I've
• 17:49
  met
• 17:49
  at
• 17:50
  conventions.
• 17:51
  So
• 17:51
  I'll
• 17:51
  always
• 17:51
  treasure
• 17:52
  that
• 17:52
  photo.
• 17:52
  But
• 17:53
  yeah,
• 17:54
  but
• 17:54
  you
• 17:54
  know,
• 17:55
  and
• 17:55
  that's
• 17:56
  discretion
• 17:56
  too
• 17:57
  for
• 17:57
  anyone
• 17:58
  not
• 17:58
  familiar
• 17:58
  with
• 17:58
  his
• 17:59
  movies.
• 17:59
  Not
• 18:00
  exactly
• 18:00
  family
• 18:00
  friendly.
• 18:01
  So,
• 18:02
  you
• 18:02
  know,
• 18:02
  not
• 18:02
  really
• 18:03
  one
• 18:03
  you
• 18:03
  want
• 18:03
  to
• 18:03
  pop
• 18:04
  like
• 18:04
  Clerks
• 18:05
  or
• 18:05
  Chasing
• 18:05
  Amy
• 18:06
  on
• 18:06
  with
• 18:06
  the
• 18:06
  whole
• 18:06
  family.
• 18:07
  But
• 18:07
  if
• 18:08
  you,
• 18:08
  if
• 18:08
  you're
• 18:08
  an
• 18:08
  adult
• 18:09
  and
• 18:09
  you're
• 18:10
  okay
• 18:10
  with
• 18:10
  some
• 18:11
  very
• 18:11
  raunchy
• 18:12
  off
• 18:12
  the
• 18:12
  walls
• 18:12
  humor,
• 18:13
  you
• 18:13
  can
• 18:13
  give
• 18:14
  it
• 18:14
  a
• 18:14
  shot.
• 18:14
  But,
• 18:15
  but
• 18:15
  yeah,
• 18:16
  so
• 18:16
  that,
• 18:16
  so
• 18:16
  yes,
• 18:16
  I
• 18:17
  do
• 18:17
  have
• 18:17
  a,
• 18:17
  you
• 18:17
  know,
• 18:18
  a
• 18:18
  lot
• 18:19
  long
• 18:20
  standing
• 18:21
  history
• 18:21
  with
• 18:21
  Kevin
• 18:22
  Smith
• 18:22
  and
• 18:22
  his
• 18:22
  work
• 18:22
  and
• 18:23
  his
• 18:23
  influence
• 18:24
  on
• 18:24
  me.
• 18:25
  But
• 18:26
  yeah,
• 18:26
  so
• 18:27
  looking
• 18:28
  at
• 18:28
  this
• 18:29
  script,
• 18:29
  so
• 18:30
  just
• 18:30
  to
• 18:30
  introduce
• 18:30
  it
• 18:31
  and
• 18:31
  maybe
• 18:31
  Andy,
• 18:31
  if
• 18:31
  you
• 18:32
  give
• 18:32
  a
• 18:32
  plot
• 18:32
  summary,
• 18:33
  but
• 18:34
  this
• 18:34
  was
• 18:35
  a
• 18:35
  script
• 18:36
  that
• 18:36
  Kevin
• 18:36
  Smith
• 18:37
  wrote
• 18:37
  in
• 18:37
  the
• 18:37
  90s
• 18:38
  when
• 18:39
  Warner
• 18:39
  Brothers
• 18:39
  was
• 18:40
  looking
• 18:40
  to
• 18:40
  reboot
• 18:41
  Superman.
• 18:42
  They
• 18:42
  had
• 18:42
  had
• 18:42
  multiple
• 18:43
  struggles
• 18:44
  after
• 18:46
  the
• 18:46
  Christopher
• 18:46
  Reeve
• 18:46
  films
• 18:47
  had
• 18:48
  wrapped
• 18:48
  up
• 18:49
  and
• 18:49
  particularly
• 18:50
  the
• 18:50
  fourth
• 18:50
  one
• 18:51
  kind
• 18:51
  of
• 18:51
  tanked
• 18:51
  the
• 18:52
  franchise.
• 18:53
  And
• 18:54
  this
• 18:54
  was
• 18:54
  also
• 18:55
  in
• 18:55
  the
• 18:55
  wake
• 18:55
  of
• 18:56
  the
• 18:56
  Death
• 18:56
  of
• 18:57
  Superman
• 18:57
  comic,
• 18:58
  which
• 18:58
  was
• 18:58
  a
• 18:58
  big
• 18:59
  moment
• 18:59
  in
• 19:00
  pop
• 19:00
  culture.
• 19:00
  And
• 19:01
  that
• 19:02
  storyline
• 19:02
  was
• 19:03
  very
• 19:04
  much
• 19:04
  on
• 19:04
  Hollywood's
• 19:05
  eyes
• 19:05
  to
• 19:06
  adapt
• 19:06
  in
• 19:06
  some
• 19:07
  form
• 19:07
  or
• 19:07
  fashion.
• 19:08
  And
• 19:08
  so
• 19:09
  at
• 19:09
  this
• 19:09
  point,
• 19:09
  Kevin
• 19:09
  Smith
• 19:10
  had
• 19:10
  been
• 19:10
  an
• 19:11
  established
• 19:11
  indie
• 19:12
  filmmaker,
• 19:12
  had
• 19:13
  made
• 19:13
  Clerks,
• 19:13
  had
• 19:13
  made
• 19:14
  Mall
• 19:14
  Rats
• 19:14
  and
• 19:15
  Warner
• 19:16
  Brothers
• 19:16
  turned
• 19:16
  to
• 19:17
  him
• 19:17
  after
• 19:18
  several
• 19:19
  going
• 19:19
  through
• 19:19
  several
• 19:20
  other
• 19:21
  drafts
• 19:22
  from
• 19:22
  various
• 19:22
  writers
• 19:23
  and
• 19:23
  they
• 19:23
  turned
• 19:24
  to
• 19:24
  him
• 19:24
  to
• 19:24
  draft
• 19:25
  a
• 19:25
  screenplay.
• 19:26
  There's
• 19:27
  also
• 19:27
  a
• 19:27
  lot
• 19:27
  more
• 19:27
  to
• 19:28
  this
• 19:28
  story
• 19:28
  because
• 19:29
  there's
• 19:30
  actually
• 19:30
  a
• 19:30
  full
• 19:30
  documentary
• 19:31
  called
• 19:31
  the
• 19:31
  Death
• 19:32
  of
• 19:32
  Superman
• 19:32
  Lives.
• 19:33
  What
• 19:33
  happened?
• 19:33
  If
• 19:33
  you
• 19:34
  want.
• 19:34
  Because
• 19:34
  this
• 19:34
  was
• 19:35
  a
• 19:35
  movie
• 19:35
  that
• 19:36
  after
• 19:36
  this
• 19:37
  we're
• 19:37
  going
• 19:37
  to
• 19:37
  focus
• 19:37
  on
• 19:38
  the
• 19:38
  Kevin
• 19:38
  Smith
• 19:38
  draft
• 19:38
  tonight.
• 19:39
  But
• 19:39
  after
• 19:40
  that
• 19:40
  draft
• 19:40
  and
• 19:41
  went
• 19:41
  through
• 19:41
  several
• 19:41
  other
• 19:41
  writers,
• 19:42
  it
• 19:43
  had
• 19:43
  Tim
• 19:43
  Burton
• 19:43
  attached
• 19:44
  to
• 19:44
  direct,
• 19:44
  it
• 19:44
  had
• 19:45
  Nicholas
• 19:45
  Cage
• 19:45
  attached
• 19:46
  to
• 19:46
  play
• 19:46
  Superman
• 19:47
  and
• 19:47
  it
• 19:47
  was
• 19:48
  almost
• 19:49
  to
• 19:49
  the
• 19:49
  point
• 19:49
  of
• 19:50
  production
• 19:50
  before
• 19:50
  it
• 19:51
  got
• 19:51
  canceled.
• 19:52
  So
• 19:52
  you
• 19:52
  can
• 19:52
  go
• 19:53
  for
• 19:53
  to
• 19:53
  see
• 19:54
  that
• 19:54
  documentary
• 19:54
  or
• 19:55
  other
• 19:55
  YouTube
• 19:55
  videos.
• 19:56
  If
• 19:56
  you're
• 19:56
  on
• 19:57
  YouTube,
• 19:58
  you
• 19:58
  can
• 19:58
  see
• 19:58
  those
• 19:59
  lovely
• 19:59
  images
• 19:59
  of
• 20:00
  Nicholas
• 20:00
  Cage
• 20:01
  as
• 20:01
  Superman
• 20:02
  when
• 20:02
  he
• 20:02
  was
• 20:02
  doing
• 20:03
  the
• 20:03
  prep
• 20:03
  work.
• 20:04
  It's
• 20:04
  still,
• 20:05
  I
• 20:06
  think
• 20:06
  cinema
• 20:06
  was
• 20:07
  robbed
• 20:07
  of
• 20:07
  this
• 20:07
  incarnation
• 20:08
  of
• 20:08
  the
• 20:08
  character.
• 20:09
  And
• 20:09
  we'll
• 20:10
  talk
• 20:10
  about
• 20:10
  that
• 20:10
  a
• 20:10
  little
• 20:10
  more.
• 21:11
  But,
• 21:11
  but
• 21:12
  yeah,
• 21:12
  this
• 21:12
  was
• 21:12
  One
• 21:12
  of
• 21:12
  those
• 21:13
  superhero
• 21:13
  movies
• 21:13
  that
• 21:14
  came
• 21:14
  this
• 21:14
  close
• 21:15
  to
• 21:15
  happening
• 21:16
  before
• 21:16
  it
• 21:16
  fell
• 21:16
  apart
• 21:17
  for
• 21:18
  mainly
• 21:19
  financial
• 21:19
  reasons
• 21:20
  and
• 21:20
  other
• 21:22
  factors
• 21:23
  that
• 21:24
  weighed
• 21:24
  on
• 21:25
  Warner
• 21:25
  Brothers,
• 21:25
  on
• 21:26
  the
• 21:26
  minds
• 21:26
  of
• 21:26
  Warner
• 21:27
  Brothers
• 20:27
  executives.
• 21:28
  But,
• 21:29
  Andy,
• 21:29
  would
• 21:29
  you
• 21:29
  be
• 21:30
  able
• 21:30
  to
• 21:30
  give
• 21:30
  a
• 21:31
  brief
• 21:31
  plot
• 21:31
  summary
• 21:32
  of
• 21:32
  this
• 21:33
  script
• 21:33
  draft,
• 21:34
  particularly
• 21:34
  that
• 21:35
  Kevin
• 21:35
  Smith
• 21:35
  wrote?
• 21:36
  Sure.
• 21:37
  So,
• 21:38
  you
• 21:38
  know,
• 21:38
  it's
• 21:39
  a
• 21:39
  very
• 21:39
  clear
• 21:40
  three
• 21:40
  act
• 21:40
  kind
• 21:41
  of
• 21:41
  movie.
• 21:42
  The
• 21:42
  first
• 21:42
  act
• 21:43
  is
• 21:44
  Brainiac
• 21:45
  is
• 21:46
  traveling
• 21:46
  through
• 21:46
  space
• 21:47
  and
• 21:47
  needs
• 21:48
  energy
• 21:49
  to
• 21:49
  power
• 21:50
  himself
• 21:50
  and
• 21:50
  to
• 21:50
  feed
• 21:51
  on
• 21:51
  himself
• 21:51
  to
• 21:51
  be
• 21:51
  able
• 21:51
  to
• 21:52
  continue
• 21:52
  existing
• 21:53
  or
• 21:53
  continue
• 21:54
  having
• 21:55
  a
• 21:55
  physical
• 21:56
  body.
• 21:57
  And
• 21:57
  so
• 21:57
  he's
• 21:57
  constantly
• 21:58
  in
• 21:58
  search
• 21:58
  for
• 21:58
  more
• 21:58
  energy.
• 21:59
  And
• 22:00
  in
• 22:00
  particular,
• 22:00
  he
• 22:01
  is
• 22:01
  searching
• 22:02
  for
• 22:02
  Kryptonian
• 22:03
  technology
• 22:05
  that
• 22:05
  we
• 22:05
  know
• 22:06
  as
• 22:06
  the
• 22:06
  Eradicator.
• 22:08
  He
• 22:08
  just
• 22:08
  knows
• 22:09
  it
• 22:09
  as
• 22:09
  something
• 22:09
  that
• 22:10
  Jor
• 22:10
  El
• 22:11
  of
• 22:11
  Krypton,
• 22:12
  Superman's
• 22:13
  dad,
• 22:13
  has
• 22:14
  created.
• 22:15
  And
• 22:16
  the
• 22:16
  two
• 22:16
  of
• 22:16
  them
• 22:16
  had
• 22:16
  a
• 22:17
  history.
• 22:17
  And
• 22:17
  so
• 22:17
  he's
• 22:17
  searching
• 22:18
  for
• 22:18
  that
• 22:18
  technology
• 22:18
  because
• 22:19
  he
• 22:19
  believes
• 22:19
  that
• 22:19
  will
• 22:19
  be
• 22:20
  the
• 22:20
  source
• 22:20
  that
• 22:21
  can
• 22:21
  kind
• 22:21
  of
• 22:21
  be
• 22:21
  his
• 22:22
  perpetual
• 22:22
  energy
• 22:22
  source.
• 22:24
  So
• 22:24
  he
• 22:24
  gets
• 22:25
  some
• 22:25
  information
• 22:25
  that
• 22:25
  leads
• 22:26
  him
• 22:26
  to
• 22:26
  believe
• 22:26
  that
• 22:26
  that
• 22:26
  would
• 22:27
  be
• 22:27
  on
• 22:27
  Earth,
• 22:28
  thanks
• 22:28
  to
• 22:28
  a
• 22:29
  broadcast
• 22:29
  to
• 22:30
  all
• 22:30
  extraterrestrials
• 22:31
  from
• 22:31
  Lex
• 22:31
  Luthor.
• 22:32
  And
• 22:32
  that
• 22:32
  brings
• 22:32
  him
• 22:33
  to
• 22:33
  Earth,
• 22:34
  which
• 22:34
  leads
• 22:34
  to
• 22:35
  a
• 22:35
  team
• 22:36
  up
• 22:36
  with
• 22:36
  Lex
• 22:36
  Luthor
• 22:37
  and
• 22:37
  a
• 22:37
  confrontation
• 22:38
  between
• 22:38
  Superman
• 22:39
  and
• 22:39
  Doomsday,
• 22:40
  who
• 22:41
  seems
• 22:41
  to
• 22:41
  be
• 22:41
  just
• 22:41
  sort
• 22:42
  of
• 22:42
  one
• 22:42
  of
• 22:42
  many
• 22:44
  alien
• 22:44
  creatures
• 22:45
  that
• 22:45
  Brainiac
• 22:45
  has
• 22:46
  in
• 22:46
  his
• 22:46
  menagerie
• 22:47
  on
• 22:47
  his.
• 22:48
  On
• 22:48
  his
• 22:48
  skull
• 22:48
  shaped
• 22:49
  spaceship.
• 22:50
  And
• 22:50
  so
• 22:50
  the
• 22:50
  first
• 22:50
  act
• 22:51
  ends
• 22:51
  with
• 22:52
  the
• 22:53
  Superman
• 22:53
  Doomsday
• 22:54
  fight
• 22:54
  that
• 22:54
  some
• 22:54
  of
• 22:55
  us
• 22:55
  may
• 22:55
  be
• 22:55
  familiar
• 22:55
  with
• 22:56
  from
• 22:56
  the
• 22:56
  comic
• 22:56
  books
• 22:57
  that
• 22:57
  led
• 22:57
  to
• 22:57
  the
• 22:57
  death
• 22:57
  of
• 22:58
  Superman.
• 22:59
  And
• 23:00
  so
• 23:00
  that.
• 23:00
  So
• 23:01
  then
• 23:01
  the
• 23:01
  world
• 23:01
  believes
• 23:02
  that
• 23:02
  Superman
• 23:02
  is
• 23:02
  dead.
• 23:03
  And
• 23:05
  in
• 23:05
  fact
• 23:05
  he
• 23:06
  is
• 23:07
  only
• 23:07
  mostly
• 23:07
  dead.
• 23:08
  And
• 23:10
  his
• 23:11
  death
• 23:11
  activates
• 23:12
  the
• 23:12
  technology
• 23:13
  that
• 23:13
  was
• 23:14
  his
• 23:15
  ship
• 23:16
  that
• 23:17
  brought
• 23:17
  him
• 23:17
  to
• 23:17
  Earth
• 23:18
  that
• 23:18
  turns
• 23:19
  into
• 23:19
  a
• 23:19
  sort
• 23:19
  of
• 23:20
  humanoid
• 23:20
  robot
• 23:21
  that
• 23:22
  identifies
• 23:22
  himself
• 23:23
  as
• 23:23
  the
• 23:23
  Eradicator,
• 23:23
  or
• 23:24
  it's
• 23:24
  identified
• 23:24
  in
• 23:24
  the
• 23:25
  script
• 23:25
  as
• 23:25
  the
• 23:25
  Eradicator.
• 23:26
  Forget
• 23:26
  actually,
• 23:26
  if
• 23:27
  he
• 23:27
  calls
• 23:27
  himself
• 23:27
  that.
• 23:29
  And
• 23:29
  he
• 23:30
  go
• 23:30
  the
• 23:30
  Eradicator
• 23:31
  robot,
• 23:32
  Android,
• 23:32
  humanoid
• 23:33
  life
• 23:34
  form
• 23:34
  of
• 23:34
  some
• 23:34
  kind,
• 23:35
  technological
• 23:35
  life
• 23:35
  form
• 23:35
  of
• 23:36
  some
• 23:36
  kind,
• 23:36
  goes
• 23:37
  and
• 23:37
  finds
• 23:38
  Superman
• 23:38
  and
• 23:39
  helps
• 23:39
  him
• 23:39
  to
• 23:40
  heal
• 23:40
  and
• 23:40
  recover.
• 23:41
  But
• 23:42
  that
• 23:42
  process
• 23:42
  is
• 23:42
  stymied
• 23:43
  by
• 23:43
  the
• 23:43
  fact
• 23:43
  that
• 23:43
  Brainiac
• 23:44
  has
• 23:44
  shut
• 23:44
  off
• 23:45
  the
• 23:45
  sun,
• 23:46
  has
• 23:46
  blocked
• 23:46
  out
• 23:46
  the
• 23:47
  sun,
• 23:47
  so
• 23:48
  all
• 23:48
  of
• 23:48
  Earth
• 23:48
  is
• 23:48
  in
• 23:49
  darkness.
• 23:50
  And
• 23:50
  Brainiac
• 23:51
  claims
• 23:51
  that
• 23:52
  this
• 23:52
  is
• 23:52
  to
• 23:54
  hide
• 23:54
  Earth
• 23:55
  from
• 23:55
  an
• 23:55
  alien
• 23:55
  invasion
• 23:56
  that
• 23:57
  he's
• 23:57
  protecting
• 23:57
  them
• 23:57
  from.
• 23:58
  And
• 23:58
  once
• 23:59
  that
• 23:59
  invading
• 24:00
  armada
• 24:00
  passes
• 24:01
  by
• 24:01
  in
• 24:01
  a
• 24:01
  few
• 24:01
  days,
• 24:02
  he'll
• 24:02
  turn
• 24:02
  the
• 24:02
  sun
• 24:03
  back
• 24:03
  on.
• 24:04
  He's
• 24:04
  hoping
• 24:04
  that
• 24:05
  that
• 24:05
  will
• 24:05
  give
• 24:05
  him
• 24:05
  enough
• 24:05
  time
• 24:06
  to
• 24:06
  track
• 24:07
  down
• 24:07
  this
• 24:07
  eradicator
• 24:08
  and
• 24:08
  take
• 24:08
  it
• 24:08
  over
• 24:08
  for
• 24:09
  his
• 24:09
  own
• 24:09
  purposes.
• 24:10
  And
• 24:11
  so
• 24:11
  that's
• 24:11
  kind
• 24:11
  of
• 24:11
  the
• 24:11
  second
• 24:12
  act
• 24:12
  is
• 24:12
  how
• 24:13
  Lois
• 24:13
  and
• 24:14
  Jimmy
• 24:14
  Olsen
• 24:15
  are
• 24:15
  dealing
• 24:16
  with
• 24:16
  the
• 24:17
  fact
• 24:17
  that
• 24:17
  you.
• 24:18
  Brainiac
• 24:18
  has
• 24:18
  kind
• 24:18
  of
• 24:19
  taken
• 24:19
  over
• 24:19
  and
• 24:19
  blocked
• 24:19
  out
• 24:19
  the
• 24:20
  sun
• 24:20
  and
• 24:20
  all
• 24:21
  this
• 24:21
  other
• 24:21
  stuff
• 24:21
  that's
• 24:22
  going
• 24:22
  on,
• 24:22
  while
• 24:22
  Superman
• 24:23
  and
• 24:23
  the
• 24:23
  Eradicator
• 24:24
  kind
• 24:24
  of
• 24:24
  work
• 24:24
  together
• 24:24
  to
• 24:24
  heal
• 24:24
  Superman
• 24:25
  and
• 24:25
  figure
• 24:25
  out
• 24:25
  how
• 24:26
  to.
• 24:26
  How
• 24:27
  to
• 24:27
  strike
• 24:27
  back.
• 24:28
  And
• 24:28
  then
• 24:28
  the
• 24:28
  third
• 24:28
  act
• 24:28
  is
• 24:29
  the
• 24:29
  big
• 24:29
  confrontation
• 24:30
  between
• 24:31
  Superman
• 24:32
  and
• 24:32
  Brainiac
• 24:35
  in
• 24:35
  which
• 24:36
  Brainiac
• 24:37
  unleashes
• 24:37
  also
• 24:37
  from
• 24:37
  his
• 24:38
  menagerie.
• 24:38
  I
• 24:39
  forget
• 24:39
  the
• 24:39
  exact
• 24:39
  name
• 24:40
  for
• 24:40
  some
• 24:40
  kind
• 24:40
  of
• 24:40
  Thanagarian
• 24:41
  creature
• 24:42
  that
• 24:44
  fills
• 24:44
  the
• 24:44
  role
• 24:45
  of
• 24:45
  the
• 24:45
  giant
• 24:45
  spider
• 24:46
  that
• 24:46
  producer
• 24:46
  Jon
• 24:47
  Peters
• 24:47
  insisted
• 24:47
  needed
• 24:48
  to
• 24:48
  appear
• 24:49
  in
• 24:49
  this
• 24:49
  film.
• 24:50
  And
• 24:50
  so
• 24:50
  you
• 24:50
  have
• 24:50
  this
• 24:51
  big
• 24:51
  final
• 24:52
  confrontation
• 24:52
  between
• 24:52
  Superman
• 24:53
  and
• 24:54
  a
• 24:55
  giant
• 24:55
  spider
• 24:55
  puppeted
• 24:56
  or
• 24:56
  inhabited
• 24:56
  by
• 24:57
  Brainiac.
• 24:58
  And
• 24:59
  to
• 24:59
  the
• 24:59
  surprise
• 24:59
  of
• 24:59
  no
• 25:00
  one,
• 25:00
  Superman
• 25:00
  is
• 25:00
  triumphant.
• 25:01
  Spoilers
• 25:01
  for
• 25:02
  a
• 25:02
  movie
• 25:02
  that
• 25:02
  you'll
• 25:02
  never
• 25:02
  be
• 25:02
  able
• 25:03
  to
• 25:03
  see.
• 25:04
  Superman
• 25:04
  wins,
• 25:05
  and,
• 25:07
  you
• 25:07
  know,
• 25:08
  Brainiac
• 25:08
  is
• 25:09
  left
• 25:09
  to
• 25:09
  lick
• 25:10
  his
• 25:10
  wounds,
• 25:10
  and
• 25:10
  Lex
• 25:10
  is
• 25:11
  off
• 25:12
  to
• 25:12
  prison
• 25:12
  for
• 25:12
  his
• 25:12
  role
• 25:13
  in.
• 25:14
  In
• 25:14
  all,
• 25:15
  you
• 25:15
  know,
• 25:15
  essentially
• 25:15
  taking
• 25:16
  over
• 25:16
  the
• 25:16
  world.
• 25:16
  I
• 25:17
  think
• 25:17
  it
• 25:17
  was
• 25:17
  the
• 25:17
  Thanagarian
• 25:18
  snare
• 25:19
  beast,
• 25:19
  I
• 25:19
  want
• 25:19
  to
• 25:19
  say.
• 25:20
  That
• 25:20
  sounds
• 25:20
  right.
• 25:20
  Good
• 25:21
  job.
• 25:21
  Yeah.
• 25:21
  Yes.
• 25:21
  Yep.
• 25:22
  Yep.
• 25:22
  Yeah.
• 25:22
  Yeah.
• 25:23
  Which.
• 25:24
  It's
• 25:24
  a
• 25:24
  hilarious
• 25:25
  story.
• 25:25
  Like,
• 25:26
  Jon
• 25:26
  Peters,
• 25:27
  I
• 25:27
  think,
• 25:27
  you
• 25:27
  know,
• 25:27
  like,
• 25:28
  very
• 25:28
  controversial
• 25:29
  figure,
• 25:29
  but
• 25:30
  for
• 25:30
  whatever
• 25:31
  reason,
• 25:32
  he
• 25:32
  insisted
• 25:32
  on
• 25:33
  putting
• 25:33
  giant
• 25:34
  spiders
• 25:35
  into
• 25:36
  a
• 25:36
  lot
• 25:36
  of
• 25:36
  his
• 25:37
  movies
• 25:37
  and
• 25:38
  seemed
• 25:39
  pretty
• 25:39
  obsessed
• 25:39
  with
• 25:40
  it.
• 25:40
  I
• 25:40
  do
• 25:40
  love
• 25:41
  that
• 25:41
  Kevin
• 25:41
  Smith,
• 25:42
  when
• 25:42
  he
• 25:42
  was
• 25:43
  given
• 25:43
  this
• 25:43
  command
• 25:44
  to
• 25:45
  have
• 25:45
  Superman
• 25:46
  fight
• 25:46
  a
• 25:46
  giant
• 25:46
  spider,
• 25:47
  he
• 25:47
  was
• 25:47
  able
• 25:47
  to
• 25:48
  pull
• 25:48
  it
• 25:49
  from
• 25:49
  the
• 25:49
  DC
• 25:49
  mythos
• 25:50
  and
• 25:50
  be
• 25:51
  like,
• 25:51
  all
• 25:51
  right,
• 25:51
  well,
• 25:52
  it
• 25:52
  comes
• 25:52
  from
• 25:52
  Thanagar.
• 25:53
  That's
• 25:54
  probably
• 25:54
  one
• 25:54
  of
• 25:54
  my
• 25:54
  favorite
• 25:55
  things
• 25:55
  about
• 25:55
  this
• 25:55
  script
• 25:56
  is
• 25:56
  that
• 25:57
  because
• 25:57
  there's
• 25:57
  even
• 25:57
  a
• 25:58
  cameo
• 25:58
  from
• 25:58
  Batman,
• 25:59
  there's
• 26:00
  the.
• 26:00
  The
• 26:01
  Legion
• 26:01
  of
• 26:01
  Doom
• 26:02
  is
• 26:02
  at
• 26:03
  the
• 26:03
  beginning.
• 26:03
  It
• 26:03
  was
• 26:03
  a
• 26:04
  lot
• 26:04
  of
• 26:04
  comic
• 26:04
  references
• 26:06
  embedded
• 26:06
  into
• 26:07
  the
• 26:07
  script.
• 26:08
  And
• 26:08
  this
• 26:08
  was
• 26:09
  long
• 26:09
  before
• 26:10
  the
• 26:10
  MCU
• 26:11
  or
• 26:11
  when,
• 26:12
  you
• 26:12
  know,
• 26:12
  comic
• 26:13
  book
• 26:13
  movies
• 26:13
  were
• 26:14
  a
• 26:14
  more
• 26:14
  prevalent
• 26:15
  and
• 26:15
  also,
• 26:16
  you
• 26:16
  know,
• 26:17
  pulled
• 26:17
  from
• 26:18
  different
• 26:18
  eras
• 26:19
  and
• 26:19
  characters
• 26:20
  from
• 26:20
  the
• 26:20
  universe.
• 26:21
  It
• 26:21
  wasn't
• 26:21
  just
• 26:21
  like
• 26:22
  if
• 26:22
  you
• 26:22
  had
• 26:22
  a
• 26:22
  Batman
• 26:23
  movie
• 26:23
  or
• 26:23
  you
• 26:23
  had
• 26:23
  a
• 26:23
  Superman
• 26:23
  movie,
• 26:24
  okay,
• 26:24
  you
• 26:24
  had
• 26:25
  Batman
• 26:25
  and
• 26:25
  Joker,
• 26:25
  you
• 26:26
  had
• 26:26
  Superman
• 26:26
  and
• 26:27
  Lex.
• 26:27
  But
• 26:27
  this
• 26:28
  one
• 26:28
  throws
• 26:29
  everything
• 26:29
  from
• 26:30
  Brainiac,
• 26:30
  Doomsday,
• 26:31
  the
• 26:31
  Eradicator,
• 26:33
  Legion
• 26:33
  of
• 26:34
  Doom,
• 26:34
  Batman.
• 26:35
  All
• 26:35
  of
• 26:35
  that
• 26:36
  is
• 26:37
  present
• 26:38
  in
• 26:38
  this
• 26:38
  story.
• 26:38
  So,
• 26:39
  you
• 26:39
  know,
• 26:39
  I
• 26:40
  was
• 26:40
  looking
• 26:40
  at.
• 26:41
  Well,
• 26:41
  Andy,
• 26:41
  I'm
• 26:42
  curious,
• 26:42
  too,
• 26:42
  because,
• 26:42
  like,
• 26:43
  I've
• 26:43
  read
• 26:43
  a
• 26:44
  lot
• 26:44
  of
• 26:44
  screenplays.
• 26:44
  I
• 26:45
  mean,
• 26:45
  I.
• 26:45
  Because
• 26:45
  I
• 26:46
  do
• 26:46
  both.
• 26:47
  I
• 26:47
  write
• 26:48
  graphic
• 26:48
  novel
• 26:49
  scripts,
• 26:49
  and
• 26:49
  then
• 26:50
  I've
• 26:50
  done
• 26:50
  playwriting,
• 26:51
  and
• 26:51
  I've
• 26:51
  attempted
• 26:51
  screenwriting.
• 26:53
  So
• 26:53
  I've
• 26:53
  read
• 26:53
  a
• 26:54
  lot
• 26:54
  of
• 26:54
  scripts
• 26:54
  in
• 26:55
  my
• 26:55
  lifetime
• 26:55
  and
• 26:56
  grew
• 26:56
  up
• 26:56
  a
• 26:56
  theater
• 26:57
  Kid,
• 26:57
  I'm
• 26:57
  curious
• 26:58
  for
• 26:58
  you,
• 26:59
  like
• 26:59
  a.
• 27:00
  Have
• 27:00
  you
• 27:00
  read
• 27:01
  a
• 27:01
  lot
• 27:01
  of
• 27:01
  screenplays?
• 27:03
  And
• 27:04
  then
• 27:04
  for
• 27:04
  you,
• 27:05
  what
• 27:05
  was
• 27:05
  it
• 27:05
  like
• 27:06
  reading
• 27:07
  this
• 27:07
  one
• 27:07
  specifically?
• 27:08
  And
• 27:08
  do
• 27:08
  you
• 27:08
  think
• 27:09
  that
• 27:09
  the
• 27:10
  format
• 27:10
  worked
• 27:11
  for
• 27:11
  you?
• 27:11
  Yeah,
• 27:12
  so,
• 27:12
  you
• 27:13
  know,
• 27:13
  I
• 27:13
  did
• 27:13
  some
• 27:14
  theater
• 27:15
  in
• 27:15
  high
• 27:15
  school
• 27:16
  and
• 27:16
  a
• 27:16
  little
• 27:16
  bit
• 27:16
  in
• 27:17
  college,
• 27:17
  so
• 27:17
  I
• 27:17
  had
• 27:17
  some
• 27:17
  experience
• 27:18
  reading
• 27:18
  theatrical
• 27:19
  scripts.
• 27:20
  I
• 27:20
  feel
• 27:21
  like
• 27:21
  I've
• 27:21
  read
• 27:21
  one
• 27:21
  or
• 27:22
  two
• 27:22
  screenplays,
• 27:23
  but
• 27:23
  like,
• 27:23
  you
• 27:23
  know,
• 27:24
  the
• 27:24
  shooting
• 27:24
  draft
• 27:25
  of
• 27:25
  screenplays
• 27:26
  that
• 27:26
  were
• 27:26
  published
• 27:26
  for
• 27:27
  movies
• 27:27
  after
• 27:27
  they
• 27:27
  came
• 27:28
  out,
• 27:28
  I
• 27:28
  think
• 27:28
  maybe
• 27:30
  like
• 27:30
  2001
• 27:31
  or
• 27:31
  something
• 27:31
  like
• 27:32
  that.
• 27:32
  I'm
• 27:33
  a
• 27:33
  little
• 27:33
  bit
• 27:33
  foggy
• 27:34
  because
• 27:34
  it
• 27:34
  hasn't,
• 27:34
  certainly
• 27:35
  hasn't
• 27:35
  been
• 27:35
  anything
• 27:35
  recently,
• 27:35
  but
• 27:36
  I
• 27:37
  pretty
• 27:37
  sure
• 27:37
  that
• 27:37
  at
• 27:37
  some
• 27:37
  point,
• 27:38
  like
• 27:38
  in
• 27:38
  college
• 27:38
  or
• 27:38
  something
• 27:39
  like
• 27:39
  that,
• 27:39
  I
• 27:39
  read,
• 27:41
  you
• 27:41
  know,
• 27:41
  one
• 27:41
  or
• 27:42
  two
• 27:42
  or
• 27:42
  three
• 27:42
  or
• 27:42
  three
• 27:42
  movie
• 27:43
  scripts
• 27:43
  here
• 27:43
  and
• 27:43
  there,
• 27:44
  but
• 27:45
  not,
• 27:45
  not
• 27:46
  a
• 27:46
  big
• 27:46
  part
• 27:47
  of
• 27:47
  my
• 27:47
  reading
• 27:49
  that
• 27:50
  said,
• 27:50
  you
• 27:50
  know,
• 27:50
  I
• 27:50
  was
• 27:51
  familiar
• 27:51
  enough
• 27:51
  and
• 27:51
  with
• 27:52
  the
• 27:52
  flow
• 27:52
  of
• 27:52
  these
• 27:52
  kinds
• 27:52
  of
• 27:53
  things
• 27:53
  and
• 27:53
  what
• 27:53
  to
• 27:53
  expect
• 27:53
  that,
• 27:54
  you
• 27:54
  know,
• 27:55
  it
• 27:55
  worked
• 27:55
  for
• 27:55
  me.
• 27:57
  I
• 27:57
  tend
• 27:58
  to
• 27:59
  be,
• 27:59
  you
• 28:00
  know,
• 28:00
  one
• 28:00
  of
• 28:00
  the
• 28:00
  reasons
• 28:00
  why
• 28:00
  I
• 28:00
  like
• 28:01
  movies
• 28:01
  and
• 28:02
  comic
• 28:02
  books
• 28:02
  is
• 28:02
  that
• 28:02
  I'm
• 28:03
  not
• 28:03
  the
• 28:03
  most
• 28:03
  visual
• 28:03
  thinker.
• 28:04
  I
• 28:04
  don't
• 28:05
  do
• 28:05
  well
• 28:06
  translating
• 28:07
  like
• 28:07
  lots
• 28:08
  of
• 28:08
  descript
• 28:09
  into
• 28:10
  visuals.
• 28:10
  So
• 28:11
  I'm
• 28:11
  very
• 28:11
  happy
• 28:11
  when
• 28:12
  talented
• 28:12
  visual
• 28:12
  artists
• 28:13
  can
• 28:13
  do
• 28:13
  that
• 28:13
  for
• 28:13
  me.
• 28:14
  And
• 28:14
  so
• 28:15
  like
• 28:15
  reading
• 28:15
  a
• 28:16
  screenplay,
• 28:16
  the
• 28:16
  fact
• 28:16
  that
• 28:16
  there's
• 28:17
  not
• 28:17
  a
• 28:17
  ton
• 28:17
  of
• 28:17
  description
• 28:18
  or
• 28:18
  whatever
• 28:18
  like
• 28:18
  that
• 28:18
  doesn't
• 28:19
  really.
• 28:19
  It
• 28:19
  just
• 28:20
  helps
• 28:20
  it
• 28:20
  kind
• 28:20
  of
• 28:20
  go
• 28:20
  smoother
• 28:20
  because
• 28:21
  it's
• 28:21
  kind
• 28:21
  of
• 28:21
  the
• 28:21
  bits
• 28:22
  that,
• 28:22
  that
• 28:22
  make
• 28:22
  the
• 28:23
  most
• 28:23
  sense
• 28:23
  to
• 28:23
  me
• 28:23
  or
• 28:23
  that
• 28:23
  I
• 28:24
  understand
• 28:24
  the
• 28:24
  most
• 28:25
  and
• 28:25
  I'm
• 28:25
  not
• 28:25
  kind
• 28:26
  of
• 28:26
  fussing
• 28:26
  over,
• 28:26
  well,
• 28:27
  here's
• 28:27
  a
• 28:27
  little
• 28:27
  bunch
• 28:27
  of
• 28:27
  description
• 28:28
  that
• 28:28
  I
• 28:28
  don't
• 28:28
  really
• 28:28
  know
• 28:28
  what
• 28:28
  to
• 28:29
  do
• 28:29
  with
• 28:29
  because
• 28:29
  it's
• 28:29
  not
• 28:29
  really
• 28:29
  forming
• 28:30
  a
• 28:30
  picture
• 28:30
  in
• 28:30
  my
• 28:30
  head.
• 28:32
  And
• 28:32
  so,
• 28:33
  yeah,
• 28:33
  so
• 28:33
  that,
• 28:33
  that
• 28:34
  part
• 28:34
  doesn't
• 28:34
  bother
• 28:34
  me.
• 28:35
  You
• 28:35
  know,
• 28:35
  do
• 28:35
  I
• 28:35
  have
• 28:35
  a
• 28:36
  great,
• 28:36
  you
• 28:36
  know,
• 28:36
  did
• 28:36
  I
• 28:36
  see
• 28:36
  the
• 28:37
  movie
• 28:37
  in
• 28:37
  my
• 28:37
  head
• 28:37
  as
• 28:37
  I
• 28:38
  was
• 28:38
  reading
• 28:38
  it?
• 28:38
  No,
• 28:38
  not
• 28:38
  really.
• 28:40
  But,
• 28:41
  you
• 28:41
  know,
• 28:41
  I
• 28:42
  could
• 28:42
  follow
• 28:42
  the,
• 28:43
  the
• 28:43
  plot,
• 28:43
  I
• 28:43
  could
• 28:44
  follow
• 28:44
  what
• 28:44
  the,
• 28:45
  what
• 28:45
  the
• 28:45
  characters
• 28:46
  motivations
• 28:47
  were,
• 28:47
  what,
• 28:47
  you
• 28:47
  know,
• 28:48
  what
• 28:48
  they
• 28:48
  were
• 28:48
  trying
• 28:48
  to
• 28:48
  do,
• 28:48
  what
• 28:49
  they
• 28:49
  were
• 28:49
  getting
• 28:49
  across
• 28:49
  each
• 28:49
  other.
• 28:49
  And
• 28:50
  so,
• 28:50
  you
• 28:50
  know,
• 28:50
  it
• 28:50
  all
• 28:51
  worked
• 28:51
  pretty
• 28:51
  well
• 28:51
  for
• 28:52
  me.
• 28:52
  And
• 28:52
  it
• 28:52
  makes
• 28:52
  it
• 28:53
  a
• 28:53
  quick
• 28:53
  read.
• 28:54
  Yeah,
• 28:55
  you
• 28:55
  know,
• 28:55
  I
• 28:55
  enjoyed
• 28:55
  it.
• 28:56
  Do
• 28:56
  I,
• 28:57
  do
• 28:57
  I
• 28:57
  deeply
• 28:58
  regret
• 28:58
  that
• 28:58
  I
• 28:58
  didn't
• 28:58
  get
• 28:58
  to
• 28:59
  actually
• 28:59
  see
• 28:59
  this
• 28:59
  movie
• 28:59
  made?
• 29:01
  Probably
• 29:01
  not.
• 29:02
  You
• 29:02
  know,
• 29:02
  and
• 29:02
  I
• 29:02
  think
• 29:02
  that
• 29:03
  that's
• 29:03
  an
• 29:03
  interesting
• 29:03
  thing
• 29:03
  to
• 29:04
  keep
• 29:04
  in
• 29:04
  mind
• 29:04
  too,
• 29:04
  is
• 29:04
  that
• 29:05
  it's,
• 29:05
  it's
• 29:06
  actually
• 29:06
  just
• 29:06
  a
• 29:06
  draft
• 29:07
  of
• 29:07
  a
• 29:07
  screenplay
• 29:07
  and
• 29:08
  that
• 29:08
  almost
• 29:08
  certainly,
• 29:09
  you
• 29:09
  know,
• 29:09
  either
• 29:10
  Kevin
• 29:10
  Smith
• 29:10
  or
• 29:11
  the
• 29:11
  Tim
• 29:11
  Burton
• 29:12
  or
• 29:12
  whomever
• 29:12
  like
• 29:12
  that,
• 29:12
  you
• 29:13
  know,
• 29:13
  we're
• 29:13
  seeing
• 29:13
  kind
• 29:13
  of
• 29:14
  somewhere
• 29:14
  in
• 29:14
  the
• 29:14
  process
• 29:15
  that.
• 29:17
  And
• 29:17
  not
• 29:18
  the
• 29:18
  finished
• 29:18
  film.
• 29:18
  And
• 29:18
  so
• 29:18
  it's
• 29:19
  entirely
• 29:19
  possible
• 29:19
  that
• 29:19
  had
• 29:20
  they
• 29:20
  gone
• 29:20
  further
• 29:20
  with
• 29:21
  making
• 29:21
  this
• 29:21
  movie
• 29:22
  that,
• 29:22
  you
• 29:22
  know,
• 29:22
  improvements
• 29:23
  or
• 29:23
  changes
• 29:23
  would
• 29:23
  have
• 29:24
  made.
• 29:24
  Obviously
• 29:24
  there
• 29:24
  were.
• 29:24
  I
• 29:25
  mean,
• 29:25
  there
• 29:25
  were
• 29:25
  subsequent
• 29:25
  drafts
• 29:26
  by
• 29:26
  other
• 29:26
  people,
• 29:27
  but
• 29:28
  since
• 29:28
  none
• 29:28
  of
• 29:28
  them
• 29:28
  ever
• 29:28
  got
• 29:29
  made,
• 29:29
  it's
• 29:29
  hard
• 29:29
  to
• 29:29
  say
• 29:29
  what
• 29:29
  was
• 29:30
  closer
• 29:30
  or
• 29:30
  what
• 29:30
  would
• 29:30
  have
• 29:31
  worked
• 29:31
  or
• 29:31
  whatever.
• 29:31
  But,
• 29:32
  yeah,
• 29:32
  there
• 29:32
  were
• 29:32
  definitely.
• 29:33
  There
• 29:33
  were
• 29:33
  things
• 29:33
  in
• 29:34
  this
• 29:34
  that
• 29:34
  I
• 29:34
  thought
• 29:34
  were
• 29:34
  good.
• 29:34
  There
• 29:35
  were
• 29:35
  things
• 29:35
  in
• 29:35
  this
• 29:35
  I
• 29:35
  was
• 29:35
  like,
• 29:35
  ah,
• 29:36
  maybe
• 29:36
  on
• 29:36
  another
• 29:37
  draft
• 29:37
  or
• 29:37
  two,
• 29:37
  you
• 29:38
  might
• 29:38
  have
• 29:38
  wanted
• 29:38
  to
• 29:39
  make
• 29:40
  some
• 29:40
  improvements
• 29:40
  to
• 29:41
  this.
• 29:41
  But,
• 29:41
  yeah.
• 29:42
  What.
• 29:42
  Had
• 29:42
  you.
• 29:43
  Had
• 29:43
  you
• 29:43
  read
• 29:43
  this
• 29:43
  before
• 29:44
  or
• 29:44
  what
• 29:44
  were
• 29:44
  your
• 29:45
  thoughts
• 29:45
  about
• 29:45
  this?
• 29:46
  Sure.
• 29:46
  So
• 29:47
  I
• 29:47
  did
• 29:47
  read
• 29:47
  this
• 29:48
  script,
• 29:48
  I
• 29:48
  think,
• 29:48
  a
• 29:49
  few
• 29:49
  years
• 29:49
  ago
• 29:50
  when
• 29:50
  I
• 29:50
  was
• 29:50
  going
• 29:51
  down
• 29:51
  this
• 29:51
  rabbit
• 29:51
  hole
• 29:52
  of
• 29:52
  this
• 29:53
  movie
• 29:53
  specifically.
• 29:54
  And
• 29:54
  I've
• 29:54
  seen
• 29:54
  the
• 29:55
  documentary.
• 29:55
  You
• 29:56
  know,
• 29:56
  this
• 29:56
  is
• 29:56
  like
• 29:56
  one.
• 29:57
  I
• 29:57
  mean,
• 29:57
  I'm
• 29:58
  very
• 29:58
  fascinated
• 29:59
  with
• 29:59
  unmade
• 30:00
  movies.
• 30:00
  Like,
• 30:00
  not
• 30:01
  just
• 30:01
  comic
• 30:01
  book
• 30:01
  ones,
• 30:02
  but,
• 30:02
  like,
• 30:02
  when
• 30:02
  we
• 30:02
  put
• 30:02
  up
• 30:03
  the
• 30:03
  poll
• 30:03
  for.
• 30:04
  Because
• 30:04
  I
• 30:04
  came
• 30:05
  up
• 30:05
  with
• 30:05
  the
• 30:05
  idea
• 30:05
  for
• 30:05
  this
• 30:06
  one
• 30:06
  and
• 30:06
  when
• 30:06
  we
• 30:06
  put
• 30:07
  up
• 30:07
  the
• 30:07
  poll,
• 30:07
  we
• 30:07
  had
• 30:07
  on
• 30:08
  there,
• 30:08
  like,
• 30:09
  Darren
• 30:09
  Aronofsky
• 30:10
  and
• 30:10
  Frank
• 30:10
  Miller's
• 30:11
  Batman
• 30:11
  year
• 30:11
  one,
• 30:12
  we
• 30:12
  had
• 30:12
  William
• 30:13
  Gibson's
• 30:14
  Alien
• 30:14
  3.
• 30:16
  There's
• 30:16
  also.
• 30:18
  What
• 30:18
  else?
• 30:19
  The
• 30:19
  Napoleon
• 30:20
  one.
• 30:21
  Who
• 30:22
  wrote
• 30:22
  that?
• 30:22
  I'm
• 30:23
  trying
• 30:23
  to
• 30:24
  look.
• 30:24
  Kubrick.
• 30:25
  Right,
• 30:25
  Kubrick.
• 30:26
  Stanley
• 30:26
  Kubrick's
• 30:27
  Napoleon.
• 30:28
  Like,
• 30:28
  so
• 30:30
  I've
• 30:30
  mentioned
• 30:30
  it
• 30:31
  on
• 30:31
  the
• 30:31
  show
• 30:31
  before,
• 30:31
  but,
• 30:32
  like,
• 30:32
  I
• 30:32
  follow
• 30:32
  a
• 30:33
  YouTube
• 30:33
  channel
• 30:33
  called.
• 30:34
  Called
• 30:34
  Bullets
• 30:35
  and
• 30:35
  Blockbusters,
• 30:36
  which,
• 30:36
  like,
• 30:36
  that's
• 30:37
  almost
• 30:37
  entirely
• 30:38
  what
• 30:38
  it's
• 30:38
  about
• 30:38
  is
• 30:38
  like,
• 30:39
  what
• 30:40
  could
• 30:40
  have
• 30:40
  been.
• 30:41
  You
• 30:41
  know,
• 30:42
  Bryan
• 30:42
  Singer's
• 30:43
  X
• 30:43
  Men
• 30:44
  Last
• 30:44
  Stand
• 30:44
  as
• 30:44
  an
• 30:45
  example
• 30:45
  or.
• 30:47
  Or
• 30:47
  like
• 30:47
  George
• 30:48
  Miller's
• 30:48
  Justice
• 30:49
  League.
• 30:49
  He
• 30:49
  goes
• 30:49
  into
• 30:50
  a
• 30:50
  lot
• 30:50
  of
• 30:51
  comic
• 30:51
  book
• 30:51
  movies
• 30:51
  and
• 30:51
  a
• 30:51
  lot
• 30:52
  of
• 30:53
  other
• 30:53
  blockbusters
• 30:54
  that
• 30:54
  almost
• 30:55
  got
• 30:55
  made
• 30:55
  and
• 30:56
  didn't
• 30:56
  come
• 30:57
  to
• 30:57
  fruition.
• 30:57
  So
• 30:58
  I
• 30:58
  am
• 30:58
  fascinated
• 30:59
  with
• 30:59
  this
• 30:59
  stuff.
• 30:59
  So
• 31:00
  I,
• 31:00
  you
• 31:00
  know,
• 31:00
  I
• 31:01
  do
• 31:01
  enjoy
• 31:02
  going
• 31:02
  through
• 31:02
  scripts
• 31:03
  like
• 31:03
  this,
• 31:03
  whether
• 31:03
  they're
• 31:04
  good
• 31:04
  or
• 31:04
  not.
• 31:05
  And.
• 31:05
  Yeah,
• 31:05
  so
• 31:06
  I
• 31:06
  read
• 31:06
  this
• 31:06
  one
• 31:07
  a
• 31:07
  few
• 31:07
  years
• 31:07
  ago
• 31:07
  and
• 31:08
  then
• 31:08
  I
• 31:08
  reread
• 31:08
  it
• 31:09
  in
• 31:09
  preparation
• 31:09
  for
• 31:10
  this.
• 31:10
  And
• 31:11
  like
• 31:11
  you
• 31:11
  said,
• 31:11
  I
• 31:11
  mean,
• 31:11
  it's
• 31:12
  very
• 31:12
  much
• 31:12
  a
• 31:12
  draft,
• 31:13
  you
• 31:13
  know,
• 31:13
  and
• 31:14
  it
• 31:14
  kind
• 31:14
  of
• 31:14
  lays
• 31:15
  the
• 31:15
  blueprint.
• 31:15
  And
• 31:16
  I
• 31:16
  think
• 31:16
  there
• 31:16
  is
• 31:17
  a
• 31:17
  quote,
• 31:17
  I
• 31:17
  think,
• 31:18
  from.
• 31:19
  I
• 31:19
  think
• 31:19
  it
• 31:19
  was
• 31:19
  like,
• 31:20
  Gene
• 31:20
  Wilder
• 31:20
  said
• 31:21
  this
• 31:21
  when
• 31:22
  he
• 31:22
  was
• 31:22
  writing
• 31:23
  Young
• 31:23
  Frankenstein
• 31:24
  with
• 31:24
  Mel
• 31:24
  Brooks.
• 31:24
  Mel
• 31:25
  Brooks
• 31:25
  told
• 31:25
  him
• 31:26
  that
• 31:26
  when
• 31:26
  you've
• 31:27
  completed
• 31:27
  a
• 31:28
  first
• 31:28
  draft
• 31:28
  of
• 31:29
  a
• 31:29
  screenplay,
• 31:29
  what
• 31:30
  you
• 31:30
  have
• 31:30
  is
• 31:30
  a
• 31:30
  concept.
• 31:31
  And
• 31:31
  like,
• 31:31
  you
• 31:31
  know,
• 31:31
  so
• 31:32
  it's
• 31:32
  very
• 31:32
  much
• 31:33
  not
• 31:33
  the
• 31:33
  finished
• 31:33
  project
• 31:34
  product
• 31:34
  at
• 31:35
  all.
• 31:36
  Scripts
• 31:36
  go
• 31:36
  through,
• 31:37
  you
• 31:37
  know,
• 31:37
  many
• 31:38
  drafts
• 31:38
  before
• 31:39
  they,
• 31:40
  you
• 31:40
  know,
• 31:40
  go
• 31:41
  to
• 31:41
  the
• 31:41
  shooting
• 31:42
  stage.
• 31:42
  And
• 31:42
  then
• 31:42
  after
• 31:43
  that,
• 31:43
  there's
• 31:43
  other
• 31:43
  changes.
• 31:44
  And,
• 31:44
  you
• 31:45
  know,
• 31:45
  the
• 31:45
  movie
• 31:45
  isn't
• 31:45
  finalized
• 31:46
  until
• 31:46
  it's
• 31:46
  edited.
• 31:47
  So
• 31:47
  this
• 31:48
  is
• 31:48
  very
• 31:48
  much
• 31:48
  just
• 31:48
  kind
• 31:48
  of
• 31:49
  a
• 31:49
  blueprint
• 31:49
  for
• 31:50
  what
• 31:51
  could
• 31:51
  have
• 31:51
  been.
• 31:51
  And
• 31:51
  then,
• 31:52
  like,
• 31:52
  like
• 31:52
  I
• 31:53
  mentioned,
• 31:53
  there
• 31:53
  were
• 31:54
  two
• 31:54
  other
• 31:54
  writers
• 31:55
  that
• 31:56
  came
• 31:56
  on
• 31:57
  to
• 31:58
  work
• 31:58
  on
• 31:58
  drafts
• 31:59
  for
• 31:59
  this
• 31:59
  movie
• 32:00
  before
• 32:00
  it
• 32:01
  got
• 32:01
  canceled.
• 32:02
  I
• 32:02
  know
• 32:02
  Dan
• 32:02
  Gilroy
• 32:03
  was
• 32:03
  the
• 32:03
  final
• 32:03
  writer
• 32:04
  on
• 32:04
  this
• 32:04
  one,
• 32:05
  who's
• 32:05
  Tony
• 32:06
  Gilroy's
• 32:06
  brother,
• 32:07
  and
• 32:07
  he
• 32:08
  wrote
• 32:08
  and
• 32:08
  directed
• 32:08
  Nightcrawler.
• 32:10
  So,
• 32:10
  yeah,
• 32:10
  it
• 32:10
  went
• 32:11
  through
• 32:11
  different
• 32:11
  iterations,
• 32:12
  but,
• 32:13
  yeah,
• 32:14
  looking
• 32:14
  at
• 32:15
  this
• 32:15
  one
• 32:15
  as
• 32:16
  it
• 32:16
  is,
• 32:17
  yeah.
• 32:18
  I
• 32:18
  mean,
• 32:18
  I
• 32:18
  like.
• 32:18
  I
• 32:19
  always
• 32:19
  love
• 32:19
  Kevin
• 32:19
  Smith
• 32:20
  dialogue.
• 32:20
  So
• 32:20
  I
• 32:21
  think
• 32:21
  there
• 32:21
  are
• 32:21
  some
• 32:21
  really
• 32:21
  strong
• 32:22
  scenes
• 32:22
  here.
• 32:23
  My
• 32:23
  favorite
• 32:23
  being
• 32:24
  when
• 32:25
  Clark
• 32:25
  and
• 32:26
  Lois
• 32:26
  are,
• 32:26
  like,
• 32:27
  on
• 32:27
  a
• 32:27
  date
• 32:27
  on
• 32:27
  the
• 32:27
  top
• 32:28
  of
• 32:28
  Mount
• 32:28
  Rushmore.
• 32:29
  I
• 32:29
  think
• 32:29
  that
• 32:29
  was
• 32:30
  just,
• 32:30
  like,
• 32:30
  a
• 32:30
  nice
• 32:30
  visual
• 32:31
  cue
• 32:31
  and
• 32:31
  it
• 32:32
  captured
• 32:32
  the
• 32:33
  characterization
• 32:33
  of
• 32:34
  Clark
• 32:34
  and
• 32:34
  Lois
• 32:34
  really
• 32:35
  well.
• 32:35
  And
• 32:35
  I
• 32:36
  was
• 32:36
  also,
• 32:36
  when
• 32:36
  I'm
• 32:37
  rereading
• 32:37
  this,
• 32:37
  I
• 32:37
  was,
• 32:38
  like,
• 32:38
  trying
• 32:38
  to
• 32:38
  reread
• 32:39
  it
• 32:39
  in
• 32:39
  Nicholas
• 32:40
  Cage's
• 32:40
  voice
• 32:40
  and
• 32:41
  trying
• 32:41
  to,
• 32:41
  like,
• 32:41
  see
• 32:42
  what.
• 32:42
  Imagine
• 32:42
  what
• 32:43
  his
• 32:43
  interpretation
• 32:44
  of
• 32:44
  the
• 32:44
  character
• 32:45
  would
• 32:45
  have
• 32:45
  been
• 32:45
  like.
• 32:46
  So
• 32:46
  that
• 32:46
  was
• 32:46
  kind
• 32:46
  of
• 32:47
  fun
• 32:47
  to
• 32:47
  imagine.
• 32:48
  You
• 32:48
  know,
• 32:49
  I
• 32:49
  think
• 32:49
  he.
• 32:49
  I
• 32:49
  mean,
• 32:50
  he
• 32:50
  clearly
• 32:50
  loves
• 32:51
  the
• 32:51
  characters
• 32:51
  in
• 32:51
  the
• 32:52
  universe
• 32:52
  and
• 32:52
  he
• 32:52
  brings
• 32:52
  a
• 32:53
  lot
• 32:53
  of
• 32:53
  that
• 32:54
  to
• 32:54
  life
• 32:54
  here.
• 32:55
  I.
• 32:55
  As
• 32:55
  far
• 32:56
  as,
• 32:56
  like,
• 32:56
  would
• 32:56
  this
• 32:57
  specific
• 32:58
  script
• 32:58
  made
• 32:58
  a
• 32:58
  good
• 32:58
  movie?
• 32:59
  Probably,
• 32:59
  you
• 33:00
  know,
• 33:00
  like
• 33:00
  you
• 33:01
  said,
• 33:01
  it
• 33:01
  needed
• 33:01
  a
• 33:01
  lot
• 33:02
  of
• 33:02
  work.
• 33:02
  But
• 33:02
  I
• 33:03
  think
• 33:03
  this
• 33:03
  would
• 33:03
  have
• 33:03
  been
• 33:04
  a
• 33:04
  nice
• 33:04
  addition
• 33:05
  to
• 33:06
  the
• 33:06
  Animated
• 33:07
  Series
• 33:07
  at
• 33:07
  the
• 33:07
  time,
• 33:08
  or
• 33:08
  even
• 33:09
  as,
• 33:09
  like,
• 33:09
  an
• 33:09
  animated
• 33:10
  movie.
• 33:11
  I
• 33:11
  think
• 33:11
  it
• 33:12
  would
• 33:12
  have
• 33:12
  worked
• 33:12
  really
• 33:12
  well
• 33:13
  in
• 33:13
  that
• 33:13
  universe.
• 33:13
  It
• 33:14
  had
• 33:14
  a
• 33:14
  lot
• 33:14
  of
• 33:14
  the
• 33:14
  tenants.
• 33:15
  But
• 33:16
  to
• 33:16
  do
• 33:16
  this
• 33:16
  as
• 33:16
  a
• 33:16
  big
• 33:17
  blockbuster
• 33:18
  and,
• 33:18
  you
• 33:19
  know,
• 33:19
  convey
• 33:19
  it
• 33:19
  to
• 33:19
  mainstream
• 33:20
  audiences,
• 33:21
  it,
• 33:22
  you
• 33:22
  know,
• 33:22
  I
• 33:22
  think
• 33:22
  it
• 33:23
  would
• 33:23
  have
• 33:23
  been
• 33:24
  hit
• 33:24
  or
• 33:24
  miss
• 33:24
  it
• 33:24
  still,
• 33:25
  again,
• 33:25
  is
• 33:26
  up
• 33:26
  there
• 33:26
  in
• 33:26
  terms
• 33:26
  of
• 33:27
  my
• 33:27
  most
• 33:27
  fascinated,
• 33:28
  fascinating.
• 33:29
  Like,
• 33:29
  I
• 33:29
  do
• 33:30
  wish
• 33:30
  I
• 33:30
  could
• 33:30
  have
• 33:30
  seen
• 33:31
  this
• 33:31
  movie,
• 33:32
  like,
• 33:32
  the
• 33:32
  final
• 33:32
  version
• 33:33
  after
• 33:33
  it
• 33:33
  got
• 33:33
  through
• 33:33
  rewrites
• 33:34
  and,
• 33:34
  you
• 33:35
  know,
• 33:35
  was
• 33:35
  ready
• 33:35
  to
• 33:36
  shoot.
• 33:36
  I
• 33:36
  do
• 33:36
  wish
• 33:37
  it
• 33:37
  had
• 33:37
  gotten
• 33:37
  made.
• 33:37
  I
• 33:38
  think
• 33:38
  it
• 33:38
  would
• 33:38
  have
• 33:38
  been
• 33:38
  fascinating.
• 33:39
  But,
• 33:40
  you
• 33:40
  know,
• 33:40
  alas,
• 33:41
  we
• 33:41
  will
• 33:41
  never
• 33:41
  know.
• 33:42
  Exactly.
• 33:43
  And
• 33:43
  then
• 33:43
  the
• 33:43
  only
• 33:44
  really
• 33:45
  callback
• 33:45
  to
• 33:45
  it
• 33:45
  was
• 33:46
  in
• 33:46
  the
• 33:46
  Flash
• 33:47
  movie
• 33:48
  a
• 33:48
  few
• 33:48
  years
• 33:48
  ago.
• 33:49
  They
• 33:49
  did
• 33:49
  have
• 33:50
  that
• 33:50
  little.
• 33:50
  In
• 33:51
  the
• 33:51
  montage
• 33:51
  sequence.
• 33:52
  They
• 33:52
  had
• 33:52
  Nicolas
• 33:53
  Cage,
• 33:53
  Superman,
• 33:54
  there
• 33:54
  it
• 33:54
  is
• 33:55
  fighting
• 33:55
  the
• 33:56
  giant
• 33:56
  spider.
• 33:56
  So
• 33:58
  I
• 33:58
  cannot
• 33:58
  say
• 33:58
  that
• 33:59
  that
• 33:59
  was
• 34:01
  exactly
• 34:01
  what
• 34:01
  I
• 34:01
  wanted
• 34:02
  because
• 34:02
  it
• 34:02
  was
• 34:02
  a
• 34:02
  pretty,
• 34:03
  very
• 34:04
  bad
• 34:04
  CG
• 34:05
  rendition
• 34:06
  there.
• 34:07
  I
• 34:07
  know
• 34:07
  that's
• 34:07
  a
• 34:07
  whole
• 34:07
  other
• 34:08
  topic,
• 34:08
  but
• 34:08
  it
• 34:09
  was.
• 34:09
  It
• 34:09
  was
• 34:09
  a
• 34:09
  nice
• 34:10
  homage.
• 34:10
  But
• 34:10
  also,
• 34:11
  yeah,
• 34:12
  I
• 34:12
  do
• 34:13
  wish
• 34:14
  if
• 34:14
  Warner
• 34:15
  Brothers
• 34:15
  Animation
• 34:15
  could
• 34:16
  like
• 34:16
  come
• 34:17
  back
• 34:17
  and
• 34:17
  just
• 34:18
  go
• 34:18
  ahead
• 34:18
  and
• 34:18
  make
• 34:18
  this
• 34:19
  as
• 34:19
  an
• 34:19
  animated
• 34:19
  movie.
• 34:20
  I
• 34:20
  know
• 34:20
  they've
• 34:21
  done
• 34:21
  Death
• 34:21
  of
• 34:22
  Superman
• 34:22
  and
• 34:22
  Reign
• 34:23
  of
• 34:23
  Superman,
• 34:23
  but
• 34:24
  this
• 34:24
  would
• 34:24
  be
• 34:24
  a
• 34:24
  fun,
• 34:25
  like,
• 34:25
  you
• 34:26
  know,
• 34:26
  you
• 34:26
  don't
• 34:26
  need
• 34:26
  that
• 34:26
  much
• 34:27
  budget.
• 34:27
  Still
• 34:27
  get
• 34:28
  Nicholas
• 34:28
  Cage
• 34:28
  to
• 34:28
  voice
• 34:29
  it.
• 34:29
  I
• 34:29
  think
• 34:29
  that
• 34:29
  would
• 34:29
  be
• 34:29
  pretty
• 34:30
  cool.
• 34:31
  But
• 34:31
  yeah,
• 34:32
  so
• 34:32
  I
• 34:32
  mean
• 34:32
  there
• 34:33
  are
• 34:33
  definite
• 34:34
  things
• 34:34
  I
• 34:34
  like
• 34:34
  in
• 34:35
  the,
• 34:35
  in
• 34:36
  the
• 34:36
  script.
• 34:36
  I
• 34:36
  like
• 34:36
  the
• 34:37
  unabashed
• 34:38
  comic
• 34:38
  book
• 34:38
  influences
• 34:39
  here.
• 34:39
  It's
• 34:39
  not
• 34:40
  trying
• 34:40
  to
• 34:40
  be
• 34:40
  too
• 34:41
  gritty.
• 34:42
  You
• 34:42
  know,
• 34:42
  the
• 34:42
  spider
• 34:43
  thing
• 34:43
  was
• 34:44
  a
• 34:44
  mandate.
• 34:44
  But
• 34:45
  again
• 34:45
  I,
• 34:45
  I
• 34:45
  do
• 34:45
  like
• 34:45
  that
• 34:46
  the
• 34:46
  spider
• 34:46
  here
• 34:47
  comes
• 34:47
  from.
• 34:47
  Or
• 34:48
  the,
• 34:48
  the
• 34:48
  snare
• 34:49
  beast
• 34:49
  comes
• 34:49
  from
• 34:49
  Thanagar.
• 34:50
  I
• 34:50
  thought
• 34:50
  that
• 34:51
  was
• 34:51
  cool.
• 34:52
  Yeah,
• 34:52
  I
• 34:52
  like
• 34:52
  a
• 34:53
  lot
• 34:53
  of
• 34:53
  the
• 34:53
  dialogue
• 34:53
  between
• 34:54
  Brand
• 34:54
  Lois.
• 34:55
  I
• 34:55
  think
• 34:55
  Lex
• 34:56
  and
• 34:56
  Brainiac
• 34:57
  are
• 34:57
  also
• 34:57
  pretty
• 34:57
  well
• 34:57
  characterized.
• 34:58
  But
• 34:58
  you
• 34:59
  know,
• 34:59
  similar
• 34:59
  problems
• 35:00
  to
• 35:01
  what
• 35:01
  would
• 35:01
  happen
• 35:01
  later
• 35:02
  on
• 35:02
  with
• 35:02
  like
• 35:02
  BVs
• 35:03
  and
• 35:03
  stuff.
• 35:03
  It
• 35:03
  is,
• 35:04
  it
• 35:04
  is
• 35:04
  pretty
• 35:04
  overstuffed
• 35:05
  and
• 35:05
  there's
• 35:05
  a
• 35:05
  lot
• 35:05
  of
• 35:05
  things
• 35:06
  happening.
• 35:06
  And
• 35:07
  you
• 35:08
  know,
• 35:08
  the
• 35:08
  inclusion
• 35:09
  of
• 35:09
  the
• 35:09
  death
• 35:09
  of
• 35:09
  Superman
• 35:10
  and
• 35:10
  storyline
• 35:11
  was
• 35:12
  very
• 35:12
  much
• 35:13
  a
• 35:13
  product
• 35:13
  of
• 35:13
  the
• 35:14
  time.
• 35:14
  And
• 35:14
  you
• 35:15
  know,
• 35:15
  again,
• 35:15
  I.
• 35:15
  Like
• 35:16
  I
• 35:16
  said
• 35:16
  earlier,
• 35:16
  Hollywood
• 35:17
  was
• 35:17
  eyeing
• 35:17
  to
• 35:18
  adapt
• 35:18
  that
• 35:18
  story,
• 35:20
  so
• 35:20
  it
• 35:20
  was
• 35:20
  kind
• 35:20
  of
• 35:21
  inevitable.
• 35:21
  But
• 35:22
  yeah,
• 35:22
  I
• 35:22
  think,
• 35:23
  I
• 35:23
  mean,
• 35:23
  I
• 35:23
  think
• 35:23
  it's
• 35:23
  a
• 35:23
  perfectly
• 35:24
  enjoyable
• 35:24
  read.
• 35:24
  And
• 35:25
  also
• 35:25
  like
• 35:25
  you
• 35:25
  were
• 35:25
  talking
• 35:26
  about,
• 35:26
  I
• 35:27
  think
• 35:27
  different
• 35:27
  screenwriters
• 35:28
  have
• 35:28
  different
• 35:28
  approach
• 35:29
  in
• 35:29
  terms
• 35:29
  of
• 35:29
  like
• 35:30
  some
• 35:30
  are
• 35:31
  very
• 35:31
  detail
• 35:31
  oriented
• 35:32
  and
• 35:32
  lay
• 35:33
  out
• 35:33
  a
• 35:33
  lot
• 35:33
  of
• 35:33
  visual
• 35:34
  cues
• 35:34
  like
• 35:35
  either.
• 35:35
  I
• 35:35
  mean
• 35:36
  this
• 35:36
  is
• 35:36
  a
• 35:37
  case
• 35:37
  of
• 35:37
  a
• 35:37
  director,
• 35:37
  but
• 35:38
  James
• 35:38
  Gunn,
• 35:39
  when
• 35:39
  he
• 35:39
  writes
• 35:39
  his
• 35:39
  scripts,
• 35:40
  he
• 35:40
  even
• 35:40
  includes
• 35:41
  the
• 35:41
  songs
• 35:41
  in
• 35:41
  them
• 35:42
  into
• 35:42
  the
• 35:42
  script
• 35:43
  which,
• 35:43
  I
• 35:43
  mean
• 35:44
  it's
• 35:44
  not
• 35:44
  recommended
• 35:45
  for
• 35:46
  solo
• 35:46
  screenwriters.
• 35:47
  But
• 35:47
  when
• 35:47
  you're
• 35:47
  also
• 35:48
  direct
• 35:48
  the
• 35:48
  movie,
• 35:48
  directing
• 35:49
  the
• 35:49
  movie,
• 35:49
  you
• 35:50
  kind
• 35:50
  of
• 35:50
  have
• 35:50
  a
• 35:50
  little
• 35:50
  more
• 35:51
  creative
• 35:51
  control
• 35:51
  there.
• 35:52
  So
• 35:53
  I'm
• 35:53
  always
• 35:53
  fascinated
• 35:54
  to
• 35:54
  see
• 35:54
  different
• 35:54
  writers
• 35:54
  approaches.
• 35:55
  But
• 35:56
  I
• 35:56
  think
• 35:56
  with
• 35:56
  Kevin
• 35:56
  Smith,
• 35:57
  his
• 35:58
  scripts
• 35:58
  are
• 35:58
  same
• 35:59
  with
• 35:59
  the
• 35:59
  comics
• 36:00
  are
• 36:00
  very
• 36:00
  dialog
• 36:00
  oriented
• 36:01
  and
• 36:01
  he
• 36:02
  kind
• 36:02
  of
• 36:02
  likes
• 36:02
  the
• 36:04
  visuals
• 36:04
  to
• 36:05
  be
• 36:05
  in
• 36:05
  the
• 36:05
  hands
• 36:05
  of
• 36:06
  comic
• 36:06
  book
• 36:06
  artists.
• 36:07
  And
• 36:08
  yeah,
• 36:08
  like
• 36:09
  he,
• 36:09
  I
• 36:09
  mean
• 36:09
  he
• 36:09
  typically
• 36:09
  directs
• 36:10
  his
• 36:10
  own
• 36:10
  movies,
• 36:10
  but
• 36:11
  they're
• 36:11
  typically
• 36:12
  low
• 36:12
  budget,
• 36:12
  you
• 36:13
  know,
• 36:13
  indie
• 36:13
  comedies
• 36:15
  and.
• 36:15
  Yeah,
• 36:16
  so
• 36:16
  I
• 36:16
  mean
• 36:17
  the
• 36:17
  dialog
• 36:17
  is
• 36:18
  the
• 36:18
  more,
• 36:18
  you
• 36:19
  know,
• 36:19
  defining
• 36:19
  factor
• 36:20
  of
• 36:20
  his
• 36:20
  scripts.
• 36:22
  Yeah,
• 36:22
  there
• 36:23
  were
• 36:23
  definitely
• 36:23
  some
• 36:24
  nice
• 36:24
  flourishes
• 36:25
  there.
• 36:25
  There
• 36:25
  was
• 36:25
  maybe
• 36:25
  some
• 36:25
  moments
• 36:26
  where
• 36:26
  I
• 36:26
  felt
• 36:26
  Superman
• 36:27
  was
• 36:27
  a
• 36:27
  little
• 36:27
  bit
• 36:27
  too
• 36:28
  Kevin
• 36:28
  Smithy.
• 36:30
  Yeah,
• 36:30
  very,
• 36:30
  very.
• 36:31
  And
• 36:32
  that's
• 36:32
  the
• 36:32
  kind
• 36:32
  of
• 36:32
  thing
• 36:32
  that
• 36:32
  maybe
• 36:34
  would
• 36:34
  be
• 36:34
  cleaned
• 36:35
  up
• 36:35
  on
• 36:36
  other
• 36:36
  passes
• 36:36
  or
• 36:37
  Nicolas
• 36:37
  Cage
• 36:38
  or
• 36:38
  whoever
• 36:38
  wound
• 36:38
  up
• 36:38
  performing
• 36:39
  might
• 36:40
  have
• 36:40
  some
• 36:40
  input
• 36:41
  on
• 36:41
  that
• 36:41
  as
• 36:41
  well.
• 36:41
  I
• 36:41
  think
• 36:42
  my
• 36:42
  biggest
• 36:42
  issue
• 36:42
  with
• 36:43
  it
• 36:43
  was
• 36:44
  that
• 36:44
  for
• 36:44
  a
• 36:44
  team
• 36:44
  up
• 36:45
  of
• 36:45
  Lex
• 36:46
  Luthor
• 36:46
  and
• 36:46
  Brainiac,
• 36:47
  it
• 36:47
  Just
• 36:47
  didn't
• 36:48
  feel
• 36:48
  like
• 36:48
  a
• 36:48
  very
• 36:49
  intelligent
• 36:50
  plot.
• 36:52
  I
• 36:52
  agree
• 36:52
  there.
• 36:52
  Yeah,
• 36:53
  it
• 36:53
  felt
• 36:54
  like
• 36:54
  we
• 36:54
  were
• 36:54
  told
• 36:54
  that
• 36:55
  Brainiac
• 36:55
  was
• 36:56
  very
• 36:56
  smart,
• 36:58
  but
• 36:58
  mostly
• 36:59
  that
• 36:59
  was
• 36:59
  through
• 37:00
  the
• 37:00
  eradicator
• 37:01
  going,
• 37:01
  oh,
• 37:01
  this
• 37:01
  computer
• 37:02
  code
• 37:02
  is
• 37:02
  very
• 37:02
  complicated
• 37:03
  or
• 37:03
  whatever.
• 37:05
  But
• 37:07
  what
• 37:07
  we
• 37:07
  actually
• 37:08
  shown
• 37:10
  was
• 37:10
  not
• 37:11
  quite
• 37:11
  that.
• 37:12
  And
• 37:14
  blotting
• 37:15
  out
• 37:15
  the
• 37:15
  sun
• 37:15
  just
• 37:15
  is
• 37:16
  one
• 37:16
  of
• 37:16
  those,
• 37:16
  like,
• 37:17
  how
• 37:17
  does
• 37:17
  that
• 37:17
  actually
• 37:18
  work?
• 37:18
  And
• 37:18
  is
• 37:19
  that
• 37:19
  really
• 37:19
  such
• 37:19
  a
• 37:19
  good
• 37:19
  idea?
• 37:20
  And
• 37:21
  why
• 37:21
  does
• 37:21
  it,
• 37:22
  you
• 37:22
  know,
• 37:22
  since
• 37:22
  Superman
• 37:22
  and
• 37:23
  the
• 37:23
  Eradicator
• 37:23
  wind
• 37:23
  up
• 37:24
  going
• 37:24
  into
• 37:24
  space,
• 37:26
  why
• 37:26
  don't
• 37:26
  they
• 37:27
  just
• 37:27
  go
• 37:27
  around
• 37:27
  the
• 37:28
  shield
• 37:28
  that's
• 37:28
  blocking
• 37:28
  the
• 37:29
  sun
• 37:29
  so
• 37:29
  that
• 37:29
  Superman
• 37:29
  could
• 37:30
  get
• 37:30
  supercharged
• 37:31
  up
• 37:31
  again?
• 37:32
  Like,
• 37:32
  you
• 37:32
  know,
• 37:32
  it
• 37:33
  seemed
• 37:33
  like
• 37:33
  there
• 37:33
  were
• 37:33
  some
• 37:34
  pretty
• 37:34
  easy
• 37:35
  ways
• 37:35
  around.
• 37:37
  All
• 37:37
  relied,
• 37:37
  you
• 37:37
  know,
• 37:37
  the.
• 37:38
  The
• 37:38
  passing
• 37:39
  alien
• 37:39
  armada
• 37:40
  just
• 37:40
  relies
• 37:40
  on
• 37:41
  a
• 37:41
  big,
• 37:41
  like,
• 37:42
  hollow
• 37:42
  hologram
• 37:43
  projector
• 37:43
  in
• 37:43
  the
• 37:43
  sky.
• 37:45
  Like,
• 37:45
  you
• 37:46
  know,
• 37:46
  so,
• 37:46
  you
• 37:46
  know,
• 37:46
  I
• 37:46
  think
• 37:46
  we're
• 37:47
  meant
• 37:47
  to
• 37:47
  understand
• 37:47
  Brainiac
• 37:48
  is
• 37:48
  smart
• 37:48
  because
• 37:48
  you
• 37:48
  can
• 37:49
  invent
• 37:49
  this
• 37:49
  technology
• 37:49
  that
• 37:50
  can
• 37:50
  do
• 37:50
  this
• 37:50
  thing.
• 37:51
  But,
• 37:51
  like,
• 37:51
  his
• 37:51
  plot
• 37:52
  actually
• 37:52
  doesn't
• 37:52
  seem
• 37:53
  to
• 37:53
  be
• 37:54
  very,
• 37:54
  very
• 37:54
  smart.
• 37:55
  So,
• 37:55
  yeah,
• 37:55
  that
• 37:55
  was.
• 37:56
  That's
• 37:56
  the
• 37:57
  sort
• 37:57
  of
• 37:57
  thing
• 37:57
  that
• 37:57
  I
• 37:57
  felt
• 37:58
  like,
• 37:58
  oh,
• 37:58
  this
• 37:59
  maybe
• 37:59
  could
• 37:59
  be
• 38:00
  cleaned
• 38:00
  up
• 38:00
  a
• 38:00
  bit.
• 38:00
  There's
• 38:01
  a
• 38:01
  lot
• 38:01
  of
• 38:01
  the
• 38:02
  sciencey
• 38:02
  stuff
• 38:02
  kind
• 38:02
  of
• 38:03
  feels
• 38:03
  more
• 38:03
  like
• 38:03
  placeholder
• 38:05
  Joss
• 38:05
  Whedon's
• 38:06
  science,
• 38:06
  the
• 38:06
  sciencey
• 38:07
  science
• 38:08
  as
• 38:08
  a.
• 38:08
  As
• 38:09
  a
• 38:09
  reminder
• 38:09
  to
• 38:09
  come
• 38:09
  back
• 38:10
  and
• 38:10
  have
• 38:10
  somebody
• 38:10
  else
• 38:11
  put
• 38:11
  in
• 38:11
  actual
• 38:12
  things
• 38:12
  or
• 38:13
  himself
• 38:13
  do
• 38:14
  the
• 38:14
  research
• 38:14
  to
• 38:14
  put
• 38:14
  in
• 38:15
  later.
• 38:16
  And
• 38:16
  yeah,
• 38:17
  like
• 38:17
  you
• 38:17
  said,
• 38:17
  the
• 38:17
  death
• 38:17
  of
• 38:17
  Superman,
• 38:19
  that
• 38:19
  really
• 38:19
  feels
• 38:20
  like
• 38:20
  it
• 38:20
  needed
• 38:20
  to
• 38:20
  have
• 38:21
  been
• 38:21
  its
• 38:21
  own.
• 38:22
  That
• 38:23
  should
• 38:23
  be
• 38:24
  where
• 38:24
  the
• 38:24
  first
• 38:25
  act
• 38:25
  ends.
• 38:25
  That
• 38:25
  should
• 38:25
  be
• 38:26
  the
• 38:26
  end
• 38:26
  of
• 38:26
  a
• 38:26
  film.
• 38:27
  The
• 38:27
  audience
• 38:27
  should
• 38:28
  be
• 38:28
  left
• 38:29
  wondering
• 38:29
  about
• 38:30
  the
• 38:30
  fate
• 38:30
  of
• 38:30
  Superman
• 38:31
  rather
• 38:31
  than
• 38:32
  just
• 38:32
  having
• 38:32
  it
• 38:32
  kind
• 38:33
  of
• 38:33
  resolved
• 38:33
  three
• 38:33
  pages
• 38:34
  later
• 38:34
  in
• 38:34
  the
• 38:34
  script
• 38:35
  that,
• 38:35
  oh,
• 38:35
  yeah,
• 38:35
  Superman's
• 38:36
  not
• 38:36
  really
• 38:36
  dead.
• 38:36
  And
• 38:36
  yes,
• 38:37
  we
• 38:37
  all
• 38:37
  know
• 38:37
  that
• 38:38
  they're
• 38:38
  not
• 38:38
  really
• 38:39
  going
• 38:39
  to
• 38:39
  kill
• 38:39
  Superman.
• 38:39
  But
• 38:41
  I
• 38:42
  think
• 38:42
  it's
• 38:42
  hard
• 38:42
  to
• 38:42
  get
• 38:42
  across
• 38:43
  now
• 38:43
  after
• 38:43
  we've
• 38:43
  been
• 38:44
  through
• 38:44
  so
• 38:44
  many
• 38:44
  iterations
• 38:45
  of
• 38:46
  high
• 38:46
  profile
• 38:47
  comic
• 38:47
  book
• 38:47
  characters
• 38:48
  dying
• 38:48
  and
• 38:48
  coming
• 38:48
  back.
• 38:50
  And
• 38:52
  superheroes.
• 38:53
  Comic
• 38:53
  book
• 38:53
  superheroes
• 38:54
  are
• 38:54
  such
• 38:54
  big
• 38:55
  pop
• 38:55
  culture
• 38:55
  things.
• 38:56
  It's
• 38:56
  hard
• 38:56
  to
• 38:57
  get
• 38:57
  across
• 38:57
  what
• 38:58
  it
• 38:58
  was
• 38:58
  like
• 38:58
  in
• 38:59
  whatever
• 38:59
  it
• 39:00
  was
• 39:00
  93,
• 39:00
  94,
• 39:03
  when
• 39:03
  the
• 39:03
  death
• 39:03
  of
• 39:03
  Superman
• 39:04
  happened,
• 39:04
  because
• 39:05
  there
• 39:05
  had
• 39:05
  been.
• 39:06
  Prior
• 39:06
  to
• 39:06
  that
• 39:06
  point,
• 39:07
  there
• 39:07
  had
• 39:07
  been
• 39:08
  comic
• 39:08
  book
• 39:08
  deaths
• 39:09
  that
• 39:09
  stuck.
• 39:10
  Comic
• 39:10
  book
• 39:10
  characters
• 39:11
  had
• 39:11
  died
• 39:11
  and
• 39:11
  not
• 39:12
  come
• 39:12
  back.
• 39:12
  And
• 39:13
  this
• 39:13
  whole
• 39:13
  idea
• 39:13
  that,
• 39:13
  well,
• 39:14
  they'll
• 39:14
  all
• 39:14
  eventually
• 39:14
  come
• 39:15
  back
• 39:15
  wasn't
• 39:15
  as
• 39:15
  big
• 39:16
  of
• 39:16
  a.
• 39:17
  A
• 39:18
  cliche
• 39:18
  yet.
• 39:18
  And
• 39:19
  so
• 39:19
  the
• 39:20
  death
• 39:20
  of
• 39:20
  Superman
• 39:21
  was
• 39:21
  reported
• 39:21
  on
• 39:22
  the
• 39:22
  news.
• 39:22
  Like,
• 39:23
  local
• 39:24
  news
• 39:24
  stations
• 39:25
  covered
• 39:25
  it,
• 39:25
  as
• 39:26
  if
• 39:26
  this
• 39:27
  character
• 39:27
  was
• 39:27
  dead
• 39:28
  and
• 39:28
  never
• 39:28
  coming
• 39:28
  Back
• 39:28
  and
• 39:29
  DC
• 39:29
  Comics
• 39:29
  had
• 39:30
  just
• 39:30
  killed
• 39:30
  off
• 39:30
  Superman
• 39:31
  and
• 39:31
  people
• 39:31
  were
• 39:31
  reacting
• 39:32
  to
• 39:32
  it,
• 39:32
  readers
• 39:33
  and
• 39:35
  the
• 39:35
  general
• 39:35
  public,
• 39:35
  whatever,
• 39:36
  were
• 39:36
  reacting
• 39:36
  to
• 39:36
  it
• 39:36
  as
• 39:37
  if
• 39:37
  this
• 39:37
  was
• 39:37
  the
• 39:38
  last
• 39:38
  that
• 39:38
  we
• 39:38
  had
• 39:38
  ever
• 39:39
  seen
• 39:39
  of
• 39:39
  Superman
• 39:39
  on
• 39:39
  the
• 39:40
  page.
• 40:32
  I
• 40:32
  think
• 40:33
  nowadays,
• 40:33
  if
• 40:34
  you
• 40:34
  tried
• 40:34
  to
• 40:35
  sell
• 40:35
  that
• 40:35
  to
• 40:36
  the
• 40:36
  news,
• 40:36
  they'd
• 40:36
  be
• 40:36
  like,
• 40:37
  yeah,
• 40:37
  we've
• 40:37
  heard
• 40:37
  all
• 40:37
  this
• 40:38
  before,
• 40:38
  and
• 40:38
  then
• 40:38
  he's
• 40:39
  going
• 40:39
  to
• 40:39
  come
• 40:39
  back
• 40:39
  six
• 40:39
  months
• 40:39
  later.
• 40:41
  But
• 40:42
  people
• 40:42
  didn't
• 40:42
  have
• 40:42
  quite
• 40:43
  that
• 40:43
  same
• 40:43
  expectation.
• 40:44
  And
• 40:44
  then
• 40:44
  DC
• 40:45
  Comics
• 40:45
  pivoted
• 40:46
  and
• 40:48
  dragged
• 40:48
  out
• 40:49
  the
• 40:49
  return
• 40:49
  of
• 40:49
  Superman
• 40:50
  for
• 40:50
  longer
• 40:51
  because
• 40:51
  it
• 40:51
  was
• 40:51
  such
• 40:51
  an
• 40:52
  impactful
• 40:52
  thing,
• 40:52
  and
• 40:52
  people
• 40:53
  really
• 40:54
  were
• 40:55
  struck
• 40:55
  by
• 40:55
  it.
• 40:55
  And
• 40:56
  so
• 40:56
  they.
• 40:57
  I
• 40:57
  think,
• 40:58
  correctly.
• 40:58
  And
• 40:58
  yes,
• 40:59
  part
• 40:59
  of
• 40:59
  it
• 40:59
  is
• 41:00
  perhaps
• 41:00
  a
• 41:00
  cynical
• 41:01
  commercial
• 41:01
  decision,
• 41:01
  but
• 41:02
  I
• 41:02
  think
• 41:02
  there
• 41:02
  was
• 41:02
  also
• 41:03
  a
• 41:03
  good
• 41:04
  storytelling
• 41:04
  element
• 41:05
  there
• 41:05
  of
• 41:05
  letting
• 41:06
  people
• 41:06
  kind
• 41:06
  of
• 41:07
  experience
• 41:07
  that
• 41:07
  a
• 41:07
  little
• 41:07
  bit
• 41:08
  longer
• 41:08
  and
• 41:09
  process
• 41:09
  through
• 41:10
  how
• 41:10
  they
• 41:10
  felt
• 41:11
  about
• 41:11
  that.
• 41:12
  I
• 41:12
  still
• 41:12
  maintain
• 41:13
  that
• 41:14
  the
• 41:14
  year
• 41:15
  between
• 41:15
  Infinity
• 41:16
  War
• 41:16
  and
• 41:17
  Endgame
• 41:18
  is
• 41:18
  an
• 41:19
  important
• 41:19
  part
• 41:19
  of
• 41:20
  that
• 41:20
  storytelling,
• 41:21
  even
• 41:21
  though,
• 41:21
  you
• 41:22
  know,
• 41:22
  that
• 41:22
  those
• 41:22
  characters
• 41:23
  are
• 41:23
  not.
• 41:24
  That
• 41:24
  half
• 41:24
  of
• 41:24
  the
• 41:25
  universe
• 41:25
  is
• 41:25
  not
• 41:25
  going
• 41:26
  to
• 41:26
  stay
• 41:26
  snapped.
• 41:28
  Having
• 41:28
  to
• 41:29
  sit
• 41:29
  with
• 41:29
  that
• 41:29
  for
• 41:29
  a
• 41:29
  year
• 41:29
  of
• 41:30
  like,
• 41:30
  well,
• 41:30
  who
• 41:30
  is
• 41:30
  going
• 41:31
  to
• 41:31
  come
• 41:31
  back
• 41:31
  and
• 41:31
  who
• 41:31
  isn't
• 41:31
  and
• 41:32
  how
• 41:32
  is
• 41:32
  it
• 41:32
  going
• 41:32
  to
• 41:32
  happen
• 41:33
  and
• 41:33
  how
• 41:33
  are
• 41:33
  they
• 41:33
  going
• 41:33
  to
• 41:33
  do
• 41:34
  it
• 41:34
  in
• 41:34
  a
• 41:34
  way
• 41:34
  that.
• 41:35
  That
• 41:35
  it
• 41:35
  matters,
• 41:36
  you
• 41:36
  know,
• 41:36
  and
• 41:36
  that
• 41:36
  it
• 41:37
  doesn't
• 41:37
  just
• 41:37
  sort
• 41:37
  of,
• 41:37
  you
• 41:38
  know,
• 41:38
  undo
• 41:39
  what
• 41:39
  happened
• 41:40
  before?
• 41:40
  Like,
• 41:41
  I,
• 41:41
  you
• 41:41
  know,
• 41:41
  I
• 41:41
  think
• 41:41
  that
• 41:41
  was.
• 41:42
  That
• 41:42
  was
• 41:42
  just
• 41:42
  as
• 41:43
  much
• 41:43
  a
• 41:43
  part
• 41:43
  of
• 41:43
  the
• 41:43
  story
• 41:44
  as
• 41:44
  what
• 41:44
  was
• 41:44
  actually
• 41:46
  filmed
• 41:46
  and
• 41:47
  put
• 41:47
  on
• 41:47
  screen.
• 41:48
  And
• 41:48
  so
• 41:48
  I
• 41:48
  think.
• 41:49
  I
• 41:49
  think
• 41:49
  it
• 41:49
  would
• 41:50
  have
• 41:50
  been
• 41:50
  a
• 41:50
  missed
• 41:50
  opportunity
• 41:51
  to
• 41:51
  do
• 41:52
  a
• 41:52
  Death
• 41:52
  of
• 41:53
  Superman
• 41:53
  story
• 41:54
  in
• 41:54
  the
• 41:54
  way
• 41:55
  that
• 41:55
  it
• 41:55
  was
• 41:55
  done
• 41:55
  in
• 41:56
  this.
• 41:56
  In
• 41:56
  this
• 41:56
  screenplay,
• 41:58
  by
• 41:58
  just
• 41:59
  kind
• 41:59
  of
• 41:59
  having
• 41:59
  it,
• 41:59
  you
• 41:59
  know,
• 42:00
  have
• 42:00
  the
• 42:00
  death,
• 42:01
  return
• 42:02
  and
• 42:02
  all
• 42:02
  of
• 42:02
  that
• 42:03
  wrapped
• 42:03
  up
• 42:03
  in.
• 42:04
  In
• 42:04
  a
• 42:04
  single.
• 42:05
  A
• 42:05
  single
• 42:05
  film.
• 42:07
  I
• 42:07
  agree
• 42:07
  100%.
• 42:08
  I
• 42:08
  mean,
• 42:08
  you
• 42:09
  know,
• 42:09
  and
• 42:09
  like
• 42:09
  you
• 42:09
  said,
• 42:10
  I
• 42:10
  mean,
• 42:10
  I
• 42:10
  just.
• 42:11
  I
• 42:11
  just
• 42:11
  thought
• 42:11
  about
• 42:11
  it
• 42:11
  too,
• 42:12
  like,
• 42:12
  in
• 42:12
  terms
• 42:13
  of
• 42:13
  particular
• 42:14
  DC
• 42:15
  characters
• 42:15
  that
• 42:16
  had
• 42:16
  died
• 42:16
  and
• 42:17
  it
• 42:17
  would
• 42:17
  still
• 42:17
  be
• 42:17
  a
• 42:17
  long
• 42:17
  time
• 42:18
  where
• 42:18
  they
• 42:18
  came
• 42:18
  back.
• 42:18
  I
• 42:18
  mean,
• 42:19
  Barry
• 42:19
  Allen,
• 42:19
  it
• 42:20
  was
• 42:20
  what,
• 42:20
  like
• 42:20
  a
• 42:20
  20
• 42:20
  year
• 42:21
  gap
• 42:21
  between
• 42:22
  Crisis
• 42:22
  on
• 42:22
  Infinite
• 42:23
  Earths
• 42:23
  and
• 42:23
  Rebirth?
• 42:24
  I
• 42:24
  think.
• 42:25
  Yeah,
• 42:25
  something
• 42:25
  like
• 42:26
  that.
• 42:26
  And
• 42:26
  so,
• 42:26
  yeah,
• 42:26
  the
• 42:27
  death
• 42:27
  of
• 42:27
  Barry
• 42:27
  Allen,
• 42:28
  we
• 42:28
  were,
• 42:28
  you
• 42:28
  know,
• 42:28
  when
• 42:29
  the
• 42:29
  death
• 42:29
  of
• 42:29
  Superman
• 42:29
  happened,
• 42:30
  the
• 42:30
  death
• 42:30
  of
• 42:30
  Barry
• 42:30
  Allen
• 42:31
  was.
• 42:31
  Was.
• 42:32
  We
• 42:32
  were
• 42:32
  closer
• 42:32
  to
• 42:32
  the
• 42:33
  death
• 42:33
  of
• 42:33
  Barry
• 42:33
  Allen
• 42:33
  than
• 42:33
  the
• 42:33
  return
• 42:33
  of
• 42:34
  Barry
• 42:34
  Allen,
• 42:34
  I
• 42:34
  guess,
• 42:34
  is
• 42:34
  what
• 42:34
  I'm
• 42:35
  trying
• 42:35
  to
• 42:35
  say.
• 42:35
  Right,
• 42:36
  right.
• 42:36
  You
• 42:36
  know,
• 42:37
  it
• 42:37
  had
• 42:38
  been
• 42:38
  not
• 42:38
  very
• 42:38
  long
• 42:38
  before
• 42:39
  that
• 42:39
  that
• 42:39
  we
• 42:40
  had
• 42:40
  voted
• 42:40
  with
• 42:40
  our
• 42:42
  95
• 42:42
  cents
• 42:42
  a
• 42:42
  minute
• 42:43
  or
• 42:43
  whatever
• 42:43
  it
• 42:43
  was
• 42:43
  to
• 42:43
  kill
• 42:43
  Jason
• 42:44
  Todd.
• 42:46
  So,
• 42:46
  you
• 42:46
  know,
• 42:47
  yeah,
• 42:47
  it
• 42:47
  was
• 42:48
  definitely
• 42:48
  more
• 42:48
  in
• 42:48
  the
• 42:48
  Zeitgeist
• 42:49
  that
• 42:49
  comic
• 42:49
  book
• 42:50
  characters
• 42:50
  could
• 42:50
  die,
• 42:51
  period.
• 42:52
  You
• 42:53
  know,
• 42:53
  and
• 42:53
  not
• 42:53
  this
• 42:53
  business
• 42:54
  of,
• 42:54
  oh,
• 42:55
  well,
• 42:55
  yes,
• 42:55
  that's
• 42:56
  a
• 42:56
  fake
• 42:56
  out
• 42:56
  at
• 42:56
  the
• 42:57
  end
• 42:57
  of
• 42:57
  issue
• 42:57
  one
• 42:58
  of
• 42:58
  issue
• 42:58
  12
• 42:58
  or
• 42:59
  whatever.
• 42:59
  And
• 42:59
  they'll
• 42:59
  be
• 42:59
  back
• 42:59
  in
• 43:00
  issue
• 43:00
  14.
• 43:01
  Absolutely.
• 43:02
  And
• 43:02
  you're
• 43:02
  totally
• 43:03
  right
• 43:03
  about.
• 43:03
  Even
• 43:04
  when
• 43:04
  you
• 43:04
  know,
• 43:04
  like,
• 43:05
  okay,
• 43:05
  it's
• 43:05
  gonna
• 43:06
  be
• 43:06
  okay
• 43:06
  in
• 43:06
  the
• 43:06
  very
• 43:06
  end,
• 43:07
  you.
• 43:07
  It
• 43:08
  makes
• 43:08
  more
• 43:08
  of
• 43:08
  an
• 43:09
  impact
• 43:09
  to
• 43:09
  actually
• 43:09
  have
• 43:10
  that
• 43:10
  grief
• 43:11
  and
• 43:11
  that
• 43:11
  loss
• 43:12
  matter
• 43:13
  at
• 43:13
  least,
• 43:13
  you
• 43:13
  know,
• 43:14
  for
• 43:14
  some
• 43:14
  time,
• 43:15
  I
• 43:15
  think.
• 43:15
  Yeah.
• 43:15
  A
• 43:15
  two
• 43:16
  parter
• 43:16
  would
• 43:17
  have
• 43:17
  been
• 43:17
  the.
• 43:18
  And
• 43:18
  could
• 43:18
  have
• 43:18
  been
• 43:19
  pretty
• 43:19
  epic
• 43:19
  if
• 43:19
  they
• 43:19
  had
• 43:20
  done
• 43:20
  a
• 43:20
  two
• 43:20
  part
• 43:20
  covering
• 43:21
  Death
• 43:21
  and
• 43:21
  Return
• 43:21
  of
• 43:22
  Superman
• 43:23
  in
• 43:23
  the
• 43:23
  90s.
• 43:23
  I
• 43:24
  think
• 43:24
  that
• 43:24
  would
• 43:24
  have
• 43:24
  been
• 43:25
  actually
• 43:25
  something
• 43:25
  special
• 43:26
  if
• 43:26
  they
• 43:26
  did
• 43:26
  it
• 43:26
  right.
• 43:26
  Because
• 43:27
  you're
• 43:27
  absolutely
• 43:27
  right.
• 43:28
  I
• 43:28
  mean,
• 43:28
  I
• 43:28
  felt
• 43:28
  the
• 43:28
  impact
• 43:29
  of
• 43:29
  Infinity
• 43:30
  War
• 43:30
  and
• 43:30
  the
• 43:30
  wait
• 43:31
  up
• 43:31
  until
• 43:32
  Endgame.
• 43:32
  And
• 43:32
  that's
• 43:33
  why
• 43:33
  we
• 43:34
  were
• 43:34
  all
• 43:34
  cheering
• 43:35
  so
• 43:35
  much
• 43:36
  in
• 43:36
  that
• 43:37
  last
• 43:37
  hour
• 43:37
  of
• 43:37
  Endgame
• 43:38
  during
• 43:38
  the
• 43:38
  portal
• 43:39
  scene.
• 43:40
  It
• 43:40
  didn't
• 43:41
  feel
• 43:41
  cheap.
• 43:41
  It
• 43:41
  actually
• 43:41
  felt
• 43:42
  earned
• 43:42
  because
• 43:43
  we
• 43:43
  had
• 43:43
  to
• 43:43
  go
• 43:44
  in
• 43:44
  real
• 43:44
  time
• 43:45
  with
• 43:45
  this
• 43:46
  year
• 43:46
  long
• 43:46
  gap.
• 43:48
  And
• 43:48
  then
• 43:48
  especially
• 43:49
  at
• 43:49
  the
• 43:49
  beginning
• 43:49
  of
• 43:49
  Endgame,
• 43:50
  when
• 43:50
  you
• 43:50
  watch
• 43:50
  the
• 43:51
  five
• 43:51
  years
• 43:51
  later
• 43:52
  caption
• 43:53
  come
• 43:53
  up,
• 43:54
  you're
• 43:55
  broken
• 43:55
  for
• 43:56
  your
• 43:56
  favorite
• 43:56
  characters
• 43:57
  because
• 43:57
  they
• 43:58
  have
• 43:58
  to
• 43:58
  be
• 43:58
  in
• 43:58
  this
• 43:59
  period
• 43:59
  of
• 44:00
  grief
• 44:00
  for
• 44:00
  so
• 44:00
  long.
• 44:00
  And
• 44:01
  for
• 44:01
  them,
• 44:01
  they
• 44:02
  have
• 44:02
  no
• 44:03
  reason
• 44:04
  to
• 44:04
  believe
• 44:04
  that
• 44:04
  anyone,
• 44:05
  anyone
• 44:05
  is
• 44:06
  ever
• 44:06
  coming
• 44:06
  back.
• 44:06
  They.
• 44:07
  They
• 44:07
  think
• 44:07
  it's
• 44:07
  permanent.
• 44:08
  So
• 44:09
  I.
• 44:09
  That
• 44:09
  was
• 44:10
  genuinely
• 44:11
  moving
• 44:12
  storytelling
• 44:13
  the
• 44:13
  way
• 44:13
  they
• 44:13
  did
• 44:13
  it.
• 44:14
  Yeah,
• 44:14
  yeah,
• 44:15
  I
• 44:15
  love
• 44:15
  it.
• 44:15
  So
• 44:16
  I
• 44:16
  know
• 44:16
  I
• 44:16
  could
• 44:16
  go
• 44:16
  on
• 44:16
  and
• 44:17
  on,
• 44:17
  but
• 44:17
  is
• 44:17
  there
• 44:18
  anything
• 44:18
  else
• 44:18
  in
• 44:19
  terms
• 44:19
  of
• 44:20
  themes
• 44:20
  about
• 44:21
  this
• 44:21
  script
• 44:22
  in
• 44:22
  particular
• 44:22
  or
• 44:22
  anything
• 44:23
  else
• 44:23
  you
• 44:23
  want
• 44:23
  to
• 44:23
  say?
• 44:24
  But
• 44:25
  I
• 44:25
  think
• 44:25
  that
• 44:25
  was
• 44:26
  a
• 44:26
  great
• 44:26
  point
• 44:26
  about,
• 44:27
  you
• 44:27
  know,
• 44:27
  its
• 44:27
  handling
• 44:28
  of
• 44:29
  the
• 44:29
  death
• 44:30
  of
• 44:30
  Superman
• 44:30
  storyline.
• 44:31
  Yeah.
• 44:31
  The
• 44:31
  only
• 44:32
  sort
• 44:32
  of
• 44:32
  other
• 44:33
  thematic
• 44:33
  thing
• 44:33
  that
• 44:34
  stood
• 44:34
  out
• 44:34
  to
• 44:34
  me
• 44:34
  that
• 44:35
  was
• 44:35
  interesting
• 44:35
  was
• 44:37
  Superman
• 44:37
  kind
• 44:38
  of
• 44:38
  grappling
• 44:38
  with
• 44:39
  why.
• 44:40
  Why
• 44:40
  he
• 44:40
  does
• 44:41
  what
• 44:41
  he
• 44:41
  does
• 44:42
  and
• 44:43
  why
• 44:43
  he
• 44:43
  doesn't
• 44:43
  spend
• 44:44
  more
• 44:44
  time,
• 44:45
  you
• 44:46
  know,
• 44:46
  helping
• 44:46
  people.
• 44:46
  You
• 44:47
  know,
• 44:47
  that
• 44:47
  Superman
• 44:47
  has
• 44:48
  to
• 44:48
  take
• 44:48
  time
• 44:49
  off
• 44:49
  or
• 44:49
  whatever.
• 44:50
  And
• 44:50
  that
• 44:52
  would
• 44:53
  echo
• 44:54
  kind
• 44:54
  of
• 44:54
  some
• 44:54
  of
• 44:54
  the
• 44:55
  things.
• 44:55
  And
• 44:55
  then
• 44:55
  his
• 44:56
  relationship
• 44:56
  with
• 44:56
  Lois
• 44:58
  kind
• 44:58
  of
• 44:58
  helps
• 44:58
  center
• 44:59
  him
• 44:59
  and
• 45:00
  helps
• 45:00
  frame
• 45:00
  how
• 45:01
  he
• 45:01
  relates
• 45:01
  to
• 45:01
  the
• 45:02
  rest
• 45:02
  of
• 45:02
  humanity.
• 45:03
  Was
• 45:03
  interesting
• 45:04
  because
• 45:05
  that
• 45:05
  would
• 45:05
  kind
• 45:05
  of
• 45:06
  come
• 45:06
  up
• 45:06
  in
• 45:07
  the
• 45:07
  Matrix
• 45:08
  Reloaded
• 45:08
  and
• 45:08
  the
• 45:09
  Matrix
• 45:10
  Revolutions
• 45:12
  with
• 45:12
  Neo
• 45:13
  and
• 45:13
  Trinity
• 45:14
  and
• 45:14
  so
• 45:14
  forth.
• 45:14
  And
• 45:15
  so
• 45:15
  I
• 45:15
  thought
• 45:15
  that
• 45:15
  was
• 45:15
  an
• 45:15
  interesting
• 45:16
  sort
• 45:16
  of
• 45:17
  hint
• 45:17
  or
• 45:18
  precursor
• 45:19
  to
• 45:20
  that
• 45:20
  movie
• 45:20
  storyline.
• 45:21
  Another
• 45:22
  Superman
• 45:22
  esque
• 45:24
  character
• 45:24
  and
• 45:25
  storyline
• 45:25
  and
• 45:25
  a
• 45:26
  very
• 45:26
  similar
• 45:26
  theme
• 45:26
  of
• 45:27
  how
• 45:27
  do
• 45:27
  you
• 45:28
  care
• 45:28
  about
• 45:28
  all
• 45:29
  of
• 45:29
  humanity,
• 45:30
  but
• 45:31
  when
• 45:31
  you
• 45:31
  are
• 45:32
  a
• 45:33
  finite
• 45:33
  person
• 45:34
  who
• 45:34
  can't
• 45:35
  actually
• 45:35
  personally
• 45:36
  know
• 45:36
  all
• 45:36
  of
• 45:36
  humanity,
• 45:38
  how
• 45:38
  do
• 45:38
  you
• 45:39
  balance
• 45:39
  that
• 45:39
  with
• 45:40
  your
• 45:40
  relationships
• 45:41
  to
• 45:41
  specific
• 45:41
  people
• 45:41
  around
• 45:42
  you.
• 45:42
  I
• 45:42
  love
• 45:42
  that.
• 45:43
  Yeah,
• 45:44
  there
• 45:44
  were.
• 45:44
  It's
• 45:45
  great
• 45:45
  comparison
• 45:45
  with
• 45:45
  the,
• 45:46
  the
• 45:46
  Matrix
• 45:46
  movies.
• 45:46
  I
• 45:47
  didn't
• 45:47
  even
• 45:47
  think
• 45:47
  about
• 45:47
  that.
• 45:48
  But
• 45:49
  yeah.
• 45:49
  And
• 45:49
  then,
• 45:49
  you
• 45:50
  know,
• 45:51
  once
• 45:51
  we
• 45:51
  finally
• 45:52
  did
• 45:52
  get
• 45:52
  another
• 45:52
  Superman
• 45:53
  movie
• 45:53
  with
• 45:54
  Superman
• 45:55
  Returns
• 45:55
  in
• 45:55
  2006,
• 45:56
  which
• 45:56
  I
• 45:57
  vividly
• 45:57
  remember,
• 45:58
  I
• 45:58
  saw
• 45:58
  that
• 45:58
  in
• 45:58
  theaters
• 46:00
  as
• 46:00
  a
• 46:00
  kid.
• 46:00
  You
• 46:01
  know,
• 46:01
  there
• 46:01
  were
• 46:01
  ideas
• 46:02
  from
• 46:02
  this
• 46:02
  one
• 46:03
  that
• 46:03
  did
• 46:03
  kind
• 46:03
  of
• 46:03
  make
• 46:04
  it
• 46:04
  over
• 46:04
  in
• 46:04
  a
• 46:05
  little
• 46:05
  bit
• 46:05
  in
• 46:05
  terms
• 46:06
  of
• 46:07
  Superman
• 46:07
  being
• 46:08
  away
• 46:08
  for
• 46:08
  a
• 46:08
  long
• 46:08
  time,
• 46:09
  coming
• 46:10
  back
• 46:10
  and
• 46:11
  you
• 46:12
  know,
• 46:12
  in
• 46:12
  the
• 46:12
  relationship
• 46:13
  with
• 46:13
  Lois
• 46:13
  and
• 46:14
  how
• 46:14
  that's
• 46:14
  explored.
• 46:16
  But
• 46:16
  you
• 46:17
  know,
• 46:17
  alt.
• 46:17
  And
• 46:18
  then,
• 46:18
  then
• 46:18
  of
• 46:18
  course
• 46:18
  they
• 46:19
  would
• 46:19
  do
• 46:19
  Death
• 46:20
  of
• 46:20
  Superman
• 46:20
  years
• 46:21
  later
• 46:21
  in
• 46:21
  bbs,
• 46:23
  which
• 46:23
  was
• 46:23
  also,
• 46:24
  I
• 46:24
  mean
• 46:24
  I
• 46:24
  similar
• 46:25
  to
• 46:25
  that.
• 46:25
  I
• 46:25
  mean
• 46:25
  they
• 46:26
  kind
• 46:26
  of
• 46:26
  let
• 46:26
  him
• 46:27
  stay
• 46:27
  dead
• 46:27
  until
• 46:27
  the
• 46:27
  end
• 46:27
  of
• 46:28
  the
• 46:28
  movie,
• 46:28
  but
• 46:28
  then
• 46:28
  also
• 46:29
  immediately
• 46:29
  teasing
• 46:29
  it
• 46:30
  that
• 46:30
  he
• 46:30
  was
• 46:30
  gonna
• 46:30
  be
• 46:30
  back.
• 46:31
  So
• 46:31
  I,
• 46:32
  I
• 46:33
  agree
• 46:33
  that
• 46:34
  yeah,
• 46:35
  they,
• 46:35
  they
• 46:36
  don't.
• 46:36
  They.
• 46:37
  If
• 46:37
  they
• 46:37
  attempt
• 46:38
  Death
• 46:38
  of
• 46:39
  Superman,
• 46:39
  they
• 46:39
  don't
• 46:39
  give
• 46:39
  it
• 46:39
  enough
• 46:40
  time
• 46:41
  to
• 46:41
  actually
• 46:42
  make
• 46:42
  an
• 46:42
  impact.
• 46:43
  They
• 46:44
  also
• 46:44
  did
• 46:44
  it.
• 46:44
  I,
• 46:44
  I
• 46:45
  thought
• 46:45
  they
• 46:45
  did
• 46:45
  it
• 46:45
  pretty
• 46:46
  well
• 46:46
  in
• 46:46
  Superman
• 46:47
  and
• 46:47
  Lois
• 46:47
  the
• 46:47
  series.
• 46:48
  They
• 46:49
  do
• 46:49
  have
• 46:49
  Superman
• 46:50
  in
• 46:50
  the
• 46:50
  final
• 46:51
  season
• 46:51
  and
• 46:51
  they
• 46:52
  at
• 46:52
  least
• 46:52
  give
• 46:52
  it
• 46:52
  a
• 46:52
  few
• 46:53
  episodes
• 46:53
  before
• 46:54
  he's
• 46:55
  back.
• 46:55
  And
• 46:55
  I
• 46:55
  like
• 46:56
  that
• 46:56
  you
• 46:56
  get
• 46:56
  to
• 46:57
  kind
• 46:57
  of
• 46:57
  sit
• 46:57
  with
• 46:58
  Smallville
• 46:58
  and
• 46:58
  sit
• 46:59
  with
• 46:59
  the
• 46:59
  Kent
• 46:59
  family,
• 47:01
  you
• 47:01
  know,
• 47:02
  dealing
• 47:02
  with
• 47:02
  his
• 47:02
  passing.
• 47:03
  And
• 47:04
  it
• 47:04
  made
• 47:04
  the.
• 47:04
  I
• 47:05
  thought
• 47:05
  like
• 47:06
  they
• 47:06
  were
• 47:06
  they're
• 47:06
  resurrection
• 47:07
  really
• 47:07
  powerful.
• 47:08
  And
• 47:08
  also
• 47:08
  it
• 47:09
  has
• 47:09
  a
• 47:09
  great
• 47:09
  series
• 47:09
  finale
• 47:10
  that
• 47:10
  ties
• 47:10
  into
• 47:11
  all
• 47:11
  those
• 47:11
  themes.
• 47:11
  So.
• 47:12
  So
• 47:12
  there
• 47:12
  were
• 47:12
  ideas
• 47:13
  here
• 47:13
  that
• 47:14
  carried
• 47:14
  over.
• 47:14
  But
• 47:15
  for
• 47:15
  the
• 47:15
  most
• 47:15
  part
• 47:16
  I
• 47:16
  think
• 47:16
  this
• 47:16
  is
• 47:16
  very
• 47:17
  much
• 47:17
  kind
• 47:17
  of
• 47:17
  stayed
• 47:17
  in
• 47:17
  the
• 47:18
  90s
• 47:18
  and
• 47:18
  remained
• 47:19
  a
• 47:19
  what
• 47:19
  if.
• 47:20
  But
• 47:20
  it
• 47:21
  is.
• 47:21
  There
• 47:21
  are
• 47:21
  a
• 47:21
  lot
• 47:21
  of
• 47:21
  fascinating
• 47:22
  ideas
• 47:22
  here.
• 47:22
  And
• 47:22
  I,
• 47:23
  and
• 47:23
  I,
• 47:24
  yeah,
• 47:24
  I
• 47:24
  would
• 47:24
  say
• 47:24
  that
• 47:25
  my
• 47:25
  favorite
• 47:25
  part
• 47:25
  of
• 47:25
  the
• 47:26
  script
• 47:26
  is
• 47:27
  it
• 47:27
  does,
• 47:28
  I
• 47:28
  think,
• 47:28
  do
• 47:28
  Clark
• 47:29
  and
• 47:29
  Lois
• 47:29
  pretty
• 47:29
  well
• 47:30
  like
• 47:30
  you
• 47:30
  said,
• 47:31
  very
• 47:31
  much
• 47:31
  with
• 47:31
  some
• 47:31
  Kevin
• 47:32
  Smith
• 47:32
  quips
• 47:32
  in
• 47:32
  there.
• 47:34
  But
• 47:34
  it's
• 47:34
  got
• 47:35
  a
• 47:35
  good,
• 47:36
  you
• 47:36
  know,
• 47:37
  examination
• 47:38
  of
• 47:38
  the
• 47:38
  heart
• 47:38
  and
• 47:39
  humor
• 47:40
  and
• 47:40
  Lois
• 47:40
  like
• 47:41
  her
• 47:42
  love
• 47:42
  for
• 47:42
  Clark
• 47:43
  Superman,
• 47:43
  but
• 47:44
  also,
• 47:45
  you
• 47:45
  know,
• 47:45
  feeling
• 47:46
  like,
• 47:46
  oh,
• 47:47
  I
• 47:47
  can't
• 47:47
  have
• 47:48
  him
• 47:48
  to
• 47:48
  myself
• 47:48
  because
• 47:49
  he
• 47:49
  belongs
• 47:49
  to
• 47:49
  the
• 47:49
  world.
• 47:50
  And
• 47:50
  how
• 47:50
  do
• 47:50
  they
• 47:50
  reconcile
• 47:51
  with
• 47:51
  that?
• 47:51
  So
• 47:52
  there
• 47:52
  were
• 47:52
  some
• 47:52
  cool
• 47:53
  stuff
• 47:53
  there.
• 47:54
  Yeah,
• 47:54
  agreed.
• 47:55
  Awesome.
• 47:55
  Sweet.
• 47:56
  Well,
• 47:57
  again,
• 47:57
  I
• 47:57
  know
• 47:57
  I
• 47:57
  could
• 47:58
  talk
• 47:58
  on
• 47:58
  and
• 47:58
  on
• 47:58
  about
• 47:59
  this
• 47:59
  one.
• 47:59
  And
• 47:59
  also
• 48:00
  I
• 48:00
  do
• 48:00
  want
• 48:00
  to
• 48:00
  recommend
• 48:01
  the
• 48:02
  Death
• 48:02
  of
• 48:02
  Superman
• 48:03
  Lives
• 48:03
  what
• 48:03
  Happened
• 48:04
  documentary.
• 48:05
  I
• 48:05
  think
• 48:05
  you
• 48:05
  can
• 48:05
  find
• 48:05
  it
• 48:06
  on
• 48:06
  YouTube.
• 48:07
  It
• 48:07
  was
• 48:07
  the
• 48:08
  director
• 48:08
  of
• 48:08
  that
• 48:08
  actually
• 48:09
  passed
• 48:09
  away
• 48:09
  a
• 48:09
  few
• 48:09
  years
• 48:10
  ago,
• 48:11
  but
• 48:12
  he's
• 48:12
  a
• 48:12
  guy.
• 48:12
  I
• 48:12
  followed
• 48:13
  you
• 48:13
  on
• 48:14
  screen,
• 48:14
  duckies.
• 48:15
  So
• 48:16
  do
• 48:16
  you
• 48:16
  recommend
• 48:16
  checking
• 48:17
  that
• 48:17
  out?
• 48:18
  And
• 48:18
  also
• 48:19
  the
• 48:19
  YouTube
• 48:19
  channel
• 48:19
  Bullets
• 48:20
  and
• 48:20
  Blockbusters
• 48:21
  has
• 48:22
  a
• 48:22
  lot
• 48:22
  of
• 48:22
  these
• 48:22
  stories
• 48:23
  on
• 48:23
  here.
• 48:23
  But
• 48:24
  what
• 48:24
  do
• 48:24
  you
• 48:24
  think?
• 48:25
  We
• 48:25
  would
• 48:25
  love
• 48:25
  to
• 48:25
  hear
• 48:25
  from
• 48:26
  you
• 48:26
  all.
• 48:26
  If
• 48:27
  you've
• 48:27
  read
• 48:27
  this
• 48:27
  script,
• 48:28
  if
• 48:28
  you're
• 48:28
  into
• 48:28
  this
• 48:28
  kind
• 48:28
  of
• 48:29
  stuff,
• 48:29
  I
• 48:29
  could
• 48:29
  talk
• 48:30
  about
• 48:30
  it
• 48:30
  all
• 48:30
  day.
• 48:30
  So
• 48:31
  do
• 48:31
  you
• 48:32
  have
• 48:32
  any
• 48:32
  other
• 48:33
  recommendations
• 48:34
  that.
• 48:34
  I
• 48:34
  know
• 48:34
  that
• 48:34
  for
• 48:35
  me,
• 48:35
  that's
• 48:35
  not
• 48:35
  literature.
• 48:36
  I
• 48:36
  know
• 48:36
  I'm
• 48:36
  recommending
• 48:37
  a
• 48:37
  movie
• 48:37
  here,
• 48:37
  but
• 48:38
  it
• 48:38
  ties
• 48:38
  into
• 48:39
  this
• 48:39
  topic.
• 48:40
  Sure,
• 48:40
  sure.
• 48:41
  We
• 48:42
  were
• 48:42
  talking
• 48:42
  earlier
• 48:43
  about
• 48:43
  getting
• 48:43
  people
• 48:44
  into
• 48:44
  reading
• 48:44
  and
• 48:45
  all
• 48:45
  reading
• 48:45
  counts
• 48:45
  and
• 48:45
  free
• 48:46
  Comic
• 48:46
  Book
• 48:46
  Day,
• 48:46
  if
• 48:47
  they
• 48:47
  still
• 48:47
  have
• 48:47
  it
• 48:47
  around,
• 48:48
  or
• 48:48
  the
• 48:48
  book
• 48:48
  that
• 48:48
  it
• 48:48
  was
• 48:49
  teasing.
• 48:49
  There
• 48:49
  was
• 48:49
  a
• 48:50
  Aquamanity
• 48:52
  book
• 48:53
  for
• 48:53
  small
• 48:54
  children
• 48:55
  at
• 48:55
  the
• 48:55
  Free
• 48:55
  Comic
• 48:55
  Book
• 48:56
  Day
• 48:56
  yesterday.
• 48:57
  Your
• 48:57
  local
• 48:57
  comic
• 48:57
  book
• 48:58
  store
• 48:58
  might
• 48:58
  still
• 48:58
  have
• 48:59
  some,
• 48:59
  some
• 48:59
  copies
• 49:00
  if
• 49:00
  they
• 49:00
  didn't
• 49:00
  give
• 49:00
  them
• 49:00
  all
• 49:00
  away
• 49:01
  yesterday.
• 49:01
  I
• 49:01
  know
• 49:01
  we
• 49:02
  were
• 49:02
  there
• 49:02
  towards
• 49:02
  the
• 49:02
  end
• 49:02
  of
• 49:02
  the
• 49:03
  day
• 49:03
  yesterday
• 49:03
  and
• 49:03
  they
• 49:03
  still
• 49:03
  had
• 49:04
  lots
• 49:04
  of
• 49:04
  stacks
• 49:04
  of
• 49:05
  freebies.
• 49:05
  So
• 49:05
  you
• 49:05
  might
• 49:06
  still
• 49:06
  be
• 49:06
  able
• 49:06
  to
• 49:06
  get
• 49:06
  a
• 49:06
  copy
• 49:06
  of
• 49:06
  that
• 49:07
  particular
• 49:07
  promotional
• 49:07
  thing
• 49:08
  or
• 49:09
  it
• 49:09
  was
• 49:09
  presumably
• 49:10
  teasing
• 49:11
  something
• 49:12
  bigger
• 49:14
  that
• 49:14
  D.C.
• 49:15
  is
• 49:15
  doing
• 49:15
  for
• 49:15
  young
• 49:15
  readers.
• 49:16
  So
• 49:16
  yeah,
• 49:16
  that
• 49:17
  looked
• 49:17
  very

• 49:20

• 49:23
  of
• 49:24
  early
• 49:24
  reader
• 49:26
  audience.
• 49:26
  So
• 49:26
  give
• 49:27
  it,
• 49:27
  give
• 49:27
  that
• 49:27
  a.
• 49:28
  An
• 49:28
  investigation.
• 49:28
  If
• 49:28
  you
• 49:29
  have
• 49:29
  folks
• 49:29
  of
• 49:29
  that
• 49:30
  persuasion
• 49:31
  in
• 49:31
  your,
• 49:31
  in

  your
• 49:32

• 49:32
  Great
• 49:32
  choice.
• 49:33
  And
• 49:33
  I
• 49:33
  was
• 49:33
  gonna
• 49:33
  say,
• 49:33
  like,
• 49:34
  even
• 49:34
  if
• 49:34
  you
• 49:34
  miss
• 49:34

  you
• 49:39
  can
• 49:40
  probably
• 49:40
  stop
• 49:40
  by
• 49:40
  your

  odds
• 49:43
  are
• 49:43
  you'll
• 49:44
  have
• 49:44
  a

• 49:44
  of
• 49:44
  finding

• 49:47
  But
• 49:47
  Annie,
• 49:48
  thank
• 49:48
  you
• 49:48
  so
• 49:48
  much
• 49:48
  and
• 49:49
  this
• 49:49
  has
• 49:50
  been
• 49:50
  a
• 49:50
  blast.
• 49:50
  I'm

  in

  I

  he'll,
• 50:16
  you

  know,
• 50:17
  do
• 50:18
  an

  impersonation
• 50:19
  of
• 50:19
  some
• 50:19
  kind.
• 50:19
  I
• 50:19
  don't

  know.
• 50:20
  We'll.
• 50:20
  We'll
• 50:20
  have

• 50:21
  it'll

  fun.
• 50:22
  So

• 50:31
  And
• 50:31
  also
• 50:31
  we
• 50:32

  that

  question
• 50:39
  is,
• 50:40
  if
• 50:40
  you
• 50:40
  had
• 50:40
  the
• 50:41
  money
• 50:41
  and

  if

  So
• 50:46
  stick
• 50:47
  around
• 50:47

  we

• 50:52
  wherever
• 50:53
  you

  are.
• 50:53
  And

  we
• 50:54
  are
• 50:55
  all
• 50:55
