- 0:00What do you think? What's the most delusional thing
- 0:01about? You.
- 0:01Oh, I think my mind. T Same.
- 0:04It's very delulu. Even when it was delulu, they
- 0:06still saw it as true true. And now it's true.
- 0:09Lulu girl, look at you now. Hello move Lulus, and welcome
- 0:28back to delulu with Ryan Liu and today's guesty is a powerhouse
- 0:32vocalist, an incredible singer-songwriter and actually
- 0:35like a really great friend of mine.
- 0:37I'm so grateful for you. I love you so much.
- 0:40Besties, please welcome the Taylor felt to delulu.
- 0:45Oh my gosh, Taylor, thank you so much for being here.
- 0:48I'm so honored. Are you kidding me?
- 0:50I'm so honored because not only are we like friends, but I'm
- 0:52genuinely like such a giant fan of your music.
- 0:54I am like heartfelt as fuck. Where are we going?
- 0:57Is it heartfelt? I'm proposing Felter, but I was
- 1:02sort of heartfelt. Let me know what should be the
- 1:04fandom name. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:05We have heartfelt we had T force Oh my initials TF oh TT force.
- 1:11TTT you should do that for your T line when you're 80.
- 1:14When I'm 80, I do AT. Line when you're 80.
- 1:17And I call it T force. Oh, I love that.
- 1:19OK, I need a little bit of royalties on that 'cause we
- 1:21just, I just conceived it right here.
- 1:23OK, technically you already had it.
- 1:25But either way, Taylor, we're going to get into everything
- 1:27with you, your music, your journey, all the Taylor TATAY
- 1:33dash LO RE Taylor. And I want to cost cost about
- 1:37everything. I love it.
- 1:39Also the Taylor, you're too smart.
- 1:40I can't. Too smart.
- 1:41I've been sitting on that one for a minute.
- 1:43I've been singing on that one for a minute.
- 1:44I'm glad you clocked it. You texted it to me, remember?
- 1:47And I was like, Oh yeah, you need to use that.
- 1:49That's genius. Definitely.
- 1:51I'll get my relatives for that one.
- 1:53OK, we love it, but. 10%. I want to talk about like how
- 1:56when we met we literally like stayed up all night just
- 1:59yapping. Just yapping.
- 2:00That's my favorite day. I love it.
- 2:02We got into everything. Endless text threads, just Oh my
- 2:05God, back and forth, back and forth.
- 2:06And then it's 4:00 AM and I'm like, we still got to.
- 2:09Go to school tonight. Oh my God.
- 2:10We kept sending each other our demos and we were talking about
- 2:13everything. And we were like, I would send
- 2:14her a song. She would give me like her
- 2:16little Blurbra feedback. You would send me something
- 2:18yours, I'll give you mine. And it was like that for like 5
- 2:20and something like literally 4:00 AM the day we met,
- 2:24literally. And I was just like, Oh my God,
- 2:26your music is so great. The way that you listen to music
- 2:28is so detailed and you can just point out everything.
- 2:31I was like, Oh my God. That's why I like you because
- 2:34you literally world build and I see it and literally clocked in
- 2:37immediately. And I was like noticing all of
- 2:38these like through lines with your music because then you, you
- 2:41know, when we I met Taylor here at passes and when I met you,
- 2:44you played me a little bit of your upcoming projects and I was
- 2:46like, Oh my gosh, guys, when people like want to show me
- 2:49their music, I'm very like picky about music.
- 2:52So I'm always like, OK, let's do it.
- 2:54But she played her music and I I moved a little.
- 2:56I moved a little. You played move a little.
- 2:58I was like, wait a minute, this is the Bob.
- 3:00I'm like, I'm going, I love that shit.
- 3:02And I love your world building and everything about you.
- 3:04But OK, girl, we need to get into where Taylor felt came
- 3:07from. Like give us the Taylor actually
- 3:10the background, the history, how you ended up in LA.
- 3:12Like how did all of this happen? Oh my God, a lot.
- 3:15To get into there's a deep world together.
- 3:18Yeah, this is a deep world it all started in.
- 3:21The Take us back the. Fetus of my beautiful mother,
- 3:24no. Oh shit.
- 3:26Oh, we're going that far. I.
- 3:27Was just beaten. Shout out there you.
- 3:30Go singing and dancing in there. You're moving a little already.
- 3:32I was moving a little in the fetus.
- 3:34You were. Moving a little.
- 3:35I was ready to come out. You were ready.
- 3:36But no, for real, I actually don't remember a time that I
- 3:39wasn't singing or wasn't obsessed with music.
- 3:42Like I was just so innately drawn to it, like from a young
- 3:45age. Like every home video is me
- 3:49singing, not talking. Because whenever.
- 3:50The camera turned to me. I was just like hi, I'm.
- 3:53You were meant to be a *. Singing.
- 3:54Period. Before you were even talking,
- 3:56you were singing. Exactly.
- 3:57It was so funny. I was like, wow, it really was
- 3:59just like woven in my DNA. DNA for real.
- 4:03Yeah. Do you come from like a musical
- 4:04family? No, that's what's so strange.
- 4:06And so it was like, I don't know, I feel like I was a little
- 4:08glitch in the system, I feel. Like, I have a family of
- 4:10creatives though you know your brother does graphic design.
- 4:14My brother does. I have three younger brothers,
- 4:16so one does graphic design and animation.
- 4:18I live with my brother in LA and he does video game design, which
- 4:23is so sick, as well as the effects.
- 4:25And then my other brother's doing like sports communication
- 4:27and stuff. Oh my God.
- 4:28So my dad's happy he got one sports guy.
- 4:30I mean you guys like. You just playing at fuck a
- 4:35sports game football game. NFL.
- 4:37NFL You just did the national anthem for the NFL, so there
- 4:40you. Go my dad was.
- 4:42I'm sure he was stuck. He was shook.
- 4:44He was like, what? That's crazy.
- 4:47He was like, I wish he was on the East Coast.
- 4:48I would have came, you know. Such a dream.
- 4:51Well, you'll get there, too. Oh yeah, when you're doing the
- 4:53Super Bowl, we'll all go. Exactly, period.
- 4:55I need to be doing your own stuff of how it all started.
- 4:58I remember when I was 2 years old, my first, my youngest
- 5:01memory was me singing on a Strawberry Shortcake karaoke
- 5:04machine my aunt gave me and I was singing Crazy in Love
- 5:09Beyoncé, Crazy Love Beyoncé and Material Girl Donna.
- 5:13You were always a diva. You know I love the Divas.
- 5:15Period. You knew I love the diva.
- 5:16You knew you locked in. And I was just singing them on
- 5:19my little karaoke machine. And I remember seeing like the
- 5:22Crazy and Love music videos. I was obsessed with music
- 5:23videos, watched music videos on the TV, watched MTV, always had
- 5:28it on and on T Nick. They would have like music
- 5:30videos in the middle of like shows.
- 5:33They would like have them have them on as like commercials.
- 5:35And I remember seeing this and I was like, yeah, I got to do
- 5:38this. Like, I just want to be on
- 5:39stage. You just wanna make people feel
- 5:42like how I feel. Yeah, absolutely.
- 5:44That's why I felt listening to music growing up too.
- 5:46Like it's just, it's like something that connects so
- 5:48deeply with obviously, you know how I talk on music and listen
- 5:50to your music. Like I'm very locked in when I'm
- 5:52like listening to something or watching something.
- 5:54And I love visuals too. So I love that you mentioned
- 5:56that because I feel like, honestly, visuals are such a
- 5:58lost art. And what I love about you is
- 6:00that you really take it there and you make it like this world,
- 6:02and you bring us into it, and we're gonna get into all of
- 6:05that, too. I love a visual world, yeah, but
- 6:07that's what really started. It was that young.
- 6:09And then I told my mom I was like, I'm going to be a singer.
- 6:12Like every video is like, I'm going to be a singer, I'm a
- 6:14singer. Like even the footage of my
- 6:16mom's like, here's the singer. Like it was just always.
- 6:19Wait, we need that for the Taylor Felt documentary?
- 6:21OK, love that we have to dig through the archives.
- 6:24Obsessed with just singing and everywhere, every, every, you
- 6:27know, family, The gathering. Yeah.
- 6:28Performing. Performed.
- 6:30I started playing piano at 7, started my piano lesson, started
- 6:33vocal lessons. 7 was like a big year for me.
- 6:36It's like the year I felt like I was a grown woman and I'm seven.
- 6:40I'm the. You're like coming home from
- 6:41elementary school and you're like, all right.
- 6:43It's time for me to start my. I'll start training.
- 6:44I was like. OK, it's time, right?
- 6:47And I came home. Yeah.
- 6:49So we started voice lessons, piano.
- 6:50And this is all me. Like, my mom was like, you don't
- 6:53have to do this. She was like, I'm not forcing
- 6:55you to do any of this. You know, you could do soccer.
- 6:57You can just be A and. You're like, give me a mic.
- 6:59I was. Like, no, yeah, give me a mic.
- 7:01I was like, I have to do this. I feel so drawn.
- 7:03Was it like every facet of like what a performance is like?
- 7:06Did you also do dancing or was it just singing you wanted to do
- 7:08dancing as? Well, yeah, I did hip hop and
- 7:10jazz since I was young. I did ballet when I was really
- 7:13young, and then I'd have hip hop and jazz.
- 7:14I would drive into my mom would drive me everywhere.
- 7:18Shut up, Chris. And so she would drive me to
- 7:21every studio session, every dance class.
- 7:24We would drive into New York City because I'm from
- 7:26Connecticut, so we were like 45 minutes away from Manhattan.
- 7:29So it's so easy. We would drive into every
- 7:31Sunday, do my hip hop jazz class, and then I did a lot of
- 7:35Broadway auditions with a lot of different dance styles on
- 7:37Broadway and then just did a bunch of auditions for
- 7:41Nickelodeon and Disney. And so I was just every avenue I
- 7:44was trying, I was, you're exploring it.
- 7:45What's going to pop off first? The acting, the dancing, the
- 7:47singing. Right.
- 7:48But you know you're going to make it.
- 7:50And I was like, I just want to throw everything at the wall and
- 7:52see what sticks, you know? And my mom also was the type of
- 7:56person that was, like, sing right now.
- 7:57Like, she sees someone that's like, could be, could be anyone.
- 8:00Anyone. Yeah.
- 8:01Just start singing. Let's get you.
- 8:02Discovered like you're going to perform right now.
- 8:04Did you do it? Oh, everywhere.
- 8:05Restaurants, train stations on the train.
- 8:09Yeah, different. Like coffee shops.
- 8:11Like I was singing everywhere. She's like, we're going to get
- 8:13you discovered like today she'd. Be like, start singing and I'm
- 8:16like, I just want to eat my like McDonald's.
- 8:19And she's like you could eat after you're a pop *.
- 8:22Just you could eat right now like.
- 8:23You're going to eat girl, period.
- 8:25Yes, I love that. That's like you it.
- 8:27Was so fun. But yeah, it was like, and we
- 8:30fly out to LA and for acting, that's how it started.
- 8:33So I'd come out to LA randomly found an agent who was sitting
- 8:38next to us. Like we had a coffee shop in LA
- 8:39and we were like, oh, we really need an agent.
- 8:41And he was sitting right next to me, right right behind us.
- 8:43And he's like, oh, you need an agent?
- 8:44Well, I could be your acting agent.
- 8:46And I started doing auditions. How serendipitous it.
- 8:49Was just. So it was.
- 8:50How old were you at that time? I was like 12. 12O you've been
- 8:54going for a while then yeah, you've been performing OK.
- 8:56Oh my God. And so that I feel like acting
- 8:59really helped with confidence and like speaking in front of
- 9:01people. Yeah, totally.
- 9:02'Cause you're like by yourself with these like producers.
- 9:04Yeah, you're a kid. Absolutely.
- 9:06Yeah, yeah. But acting wasn't like my, you
- 9:08know, first love. It was like, I just wanted to do
- 9:11music, you know? I was.
- 9:11Like totally. Did you see it like as a mean
- 9:13sent ends like? Totally.
- 9:14I saw it as like the Hannah Montana vibe.
- 9:15I was like, oh, OK, I could do the acting, then do music. 100%.
- 9:18You know, yes, and I think I'll return to acting one day.
- 9:21I think that'd be fun. Yeah, but you'd be good at it.
- 9:23I like. You're such a performer.
- 9:25Thank you. You're such a performer, Yeah,
- 9:26You're like such a star in everything you do.
- 9:28So we're gonna get you casted. Yes, okay, the right role.
- 9:32Yes, absolutely. And you're gonna sing in the
- 9:33role. We'll do a musical A.
- 9:36Star is born. Period.
- 9:38Lady Gaga. OK, yes, exactly.
- 9:40OK, I love that. So you're originally from
- 9:42Connecticut, So when did you end up coming out to LA then?
- 9:44So you've been performing, you're doing the auditions,
- 9:47you're doing every training that you can to be a pop star.
- 9:49When was it time to be like, OK, it's time to go to Los Angeles?
- 9:53So I was bicoastal a lot, like I was saying, going back and
- 9:55forth. And then after quarantine, I was
- 9:57like, you know what? I was like quarantined in
- 9:59Connecticut and what was crazy, So right before the world shut
- 10:03down, I did the national anthem for the NBA.
- 10:06Oh my God, so. Four days.
- 10:08It was crazy. Four days before the NBA shut
- 10:10down, I did the national anthem for the Lakers.
- 10:12And the world was over. Jay-Z was there.
- 10:15Shut up. Yeah, I think Blue Ivy was
- 10:17there. I was like.
- 10:18Even more special. I know I'm like.
- 10:20More impressed with that. Oh my God.
- 10:21And then literally four days later the NBA shut down.
- 10:25We went home and I thought I was just going back to Connecticut
- 10:27for like 2 weeks. We all did.
- 10:29I was like O2 weeks right like quarantine.
- 10:31I didn't come back, CLA, right? I didn't come back for almost a
- 10:34year. I was like, what?
- 10:36And who would have thought? I was like, yeah, I got to get
- 10:38out of my hometown, let's go back to LA and I'm moving.
- 10:42And I. Talked to my brother and we were
- 10:44like, you know what let's go me and you and I love living with
- 10:48my brother. He like makes fun of me all the
- 10:49time and keeps me really grounded and humble.
- 10:52Do you like that cringy all the time.
- 10:54And he scares me like I'm making my coffee and he like jumps in
- 10:57the room and he's like, hey, how you doing today?
- 10:59I'm like. That's such a brother.
- 11:00Thing and I just like jump because I have horrible like
- 11:03reflexes. I just.
- 11:05Am always scared don't. Don't show me a jump.
- 11:07Scare. You're always on, like fight or
- 11:08flight. Yeah, OK.
- 11:09Gotcha. But because of him.
- 11:12But yeah, living with him is great.
- 11:14It's like having a brother. It's like, yeah, it keeps you
- 11:16really grounded in a kind of chaotic city sometimes, you
- 11:19know, it could be hard to, like, find your tribe and a. 100%.
- 11:23To have like. A family, especially in LA too,
- 11:26you know what I mean? Like it's hard to like find
- 11:28people that you really resonate with, people they could trust,
- 11:30and then like everyone's doing something, you know what I mean?
- 11:33It's a lot. It definitely is a lot.
- 11:34That's really nice that you have that Browning system and your
- 11:37mom visits a lot too. Yeah, she comes out a bunch and
- 11:39visits us, which is awesome. She's here right now.
- 11:41She's here. Hi.
- 11:43Mom. Hi, Mom.
- 11:43She's. The best?
- 11:44I know. I'm so excited that you brought
- 11:45her. She's my favorite person in
- 11:47life. Absolutely, definitely.
- 11:49So that's super cool. I love that your family is so
- 11:51supportive of you. So do you feel like that really
- 11:54helped you like keep going too? Because it's such a hard fucking
- 11:57industry and you started so young too.
- 11:59Yeah, that is, I think the reason that I'm here is because
- 12:02my family, you know, like the lessons that my mom taught me on
- 12:07just being so fearless and she just believed in me even when
- 12:10like, I didn't believe in myself.
- 12:12You know, she, my mom and my dad and my brothers, they all like
- 12:16just spoke so much greatness into me and was like, whatever
- 12:20you want, just try your best. And we're here to support.
- 12:23We're here to cheer you on. We're your cheerleaders.
- 12:25And even when it was the Lulu, they still saw it as true true.
- 12:30And now it's true, Lulu Girl, look at you now like you've been
- 12:33killing it. You've been doing so much too
- 12:35because you've been releasing so much music and you released a
- 12:37bunch of songs last year. And we're going to talk about
- 12:39your previous project at Flowers in a second too.
- 12:41But their journey to get here was like, obviously not an easy
- 12:44one. You're doing a lot of auditions,
- 12:46etcetera. You felt supported, but you
- 12:48actually blew up on TikTok, Like blew up on TikTok.
- 12:52I think you were one of the first TikTok music ambassadors.
- 12:54What does that even? Mean.
- 12:55I know. It's so weird.
- 12:56Isn't that crazy? What?
- 12:58What does that mean? It was so wild.
- 12:59So I started posting. I just got like a notification
- 13:02on my phone. Actually I started posting on
- 13:05YouTube 10 years ago. Oh shit, really?
- 13:0710/10 What were you guys on a 10 year?
- 13:09Yeah singing. Oh shit.
- 13:10OK, so 2016. 20 No, no, it wasn't 10 years.
- 13:15Sorry, it was 20 year anniversary or something.
- 13:18No, it was 15. Sorry, it was actually 15.
- 13:20It started in 2009. Oh shit, you were.
- 13:22On it because we saw like Justin Bieber blowing up and I was
- 13:28like, my mom and I were like, let's post like a singing video.
- 13:30Like hell yeah. So I sang the climb and my mom
- 13:33filmed it on a Flip camera and I sang This is a Climb because I
- 13:37was obsessed with Miley. Yeah, you're Hannah Montana, so
- 13:40that makes sense. Exactly.
- 13:42So I posted it. Of course nobody saw them.
- 13:46And then I was like, oh, let's just start posting.
- 13:48So I I wrote songs and then posted like originals and we
- 13:53would make like DIY music videos and like with my brothers and
- 13:57we're all just like just making fun music videos posting them.
- 14:00That's actually so fun. It was really fun and then I
- 14:03started covers. I was like, OK, let's start the
- 14:05covers and I started doing series and I think the series is
- 14:10what really helped, like having a consistent signature.
- 14:13Series 100%. Really helped with.
- 14:15Growth. Was it your?
- 14:16Was it Mash up Monday? Mash up Monday.
- 14:18There it is. I did mash up Monday, so I did
- 14:21every Monday for a full year. I was.
- 14:24You committed. 16 or 17 was my freshman in high school and I
- 14:29told my mom I was like OK, if I go home school I'm going to be
- 14:33like locked the hell in on social media.
- 14:36And she was like OK, let's we'll do homeschool.
- 14:39Obviously she wasn't homeschooling you.
- 14:40Thank God. But it was paid off.
- 14:43But I got to go to this like homeschool school, which is
- 14:47really cool. It's like called Fusion and it's
- 14:50like one-on-one with teachers. And it was just the schedule is
- 14:52way looser so that I could like just post a lot.
- 14:55More. Yeah, we're going.
- 14:56More and travel because I was going to LA a bunch and so I was
- 14:58like, I locked in and did mashup every single week on YouTube and
- 15:03Instagram and it just really blew up.
- 15:06Yeah. Did two or more songs smashing
- 15:08them together and I didn't get sick at all that year either, so
- 15:10I didn't miss one week. You're so lucky.
- 15:12Like I was so. God wanted you to do the mashup.
- 15:15I was so isolated too, I didn't see anybody.
- 15:18You gotta lock. In so locked and.
- 15:20That was my first two years on TikTok.
- 15:21I didn't leave my house at all. I was just making content.
- 15:24And that's, you know, it's so funny.
- 15:25It's like you get rewarded for being isolated.
- 15:27I guess so. Yeah.
- 15:29And so I was so locked in then after that, then I was on
- 15:33Musically, I posted on Musically, they did OK.
- 15:36Then once Musically turned to TikTok, it was getting hate.
- 15:39So people don't talk about or remember.
- 15:40Like when TikTok came out, everyone was calling it the
- 15:43corniest app. Oh yeah, blah blah, blah.
- 15:45Like, oh, it was on. Cringe.
- 15:47I didn't want to tell people how to TikTok.
- 15:50It was embarrassing. Embarrassing and.
- 15:52Even like the OG TikTok, OG Musically, people weren't going
- 15:58on TikTok. Like they were like they just
- 16:00gave up. And I saw it as an open lane.
- 16:02So I was like, OK, people are leaving, I'm going.
- 16:04To say it's my turn. It's let's go.
- 16:06Absolutely. So then I was like, let me post
- 16:09covers in my car. That was my thing and every I
- 16:14was always I just learned how to drive.
- 16:15So I was always in my car and just like my little Jeep
- 16:18Wrangler driving around town, like let me just film covers in
- 16:22here because my house is so loud with my brothers because I have
- 16:243 younger brothers and three dogs and my parents and
- 16:26everyone's screaming. So I was like, you know what,
- 16:28the car is my safe haven. Let me just sing in my car and
- 16:33sing as loud as I want, you know?
- 16:36And so then I sang all different covers and then they just
- 16:39started blowing up, started blowing up.
- 16:42And people would come back to my page, you know, every week to.
- 16:45See the different? Covers and it was.
- 16:47How did that feel? Like, you know, when you started
- 16:49blowing up? Because then you've been, you've
- 16:51genuinely been working at it for a long time, like a decade at
- 16:54that point, like posting and then also like going to
- 16:56auditions, travelling to LA. Now it's like you're seeing like
- 16:59this happening in real time. Like what was that like for you?
- 17:02There was a sense of like confirmation of like, OK, cool,
- 17:07I'm on the right path, you. Know it's like a relief.
- 17:09It's a relief, but also it's not abnormal because it's what I've
- 17:13always envisioned for myself. OK, so you're just like this
- 17:15makes sense. This makes sense.
- 17:17I got this. I think the biggest thing is
- 17:20keeping your mind right and not changing for because there's
- 17:25more eyeballs on you, you. Know.
- 17:27It's like you don't want to change the way you show up
- 17:30because of the amount of people that see it, you know?
- 17:33And yeah, it just felt like really affirming.
- 17:37I was like, OK, cool. Like people like this dope.
- 17:39I love doing this. Absolutely.
- 17:40It was, it was awesome. But it was, it was nice that
- 17:43people really loved my voice. And that was really cool.
- 17:46And then it got to a point where I was like, OK, I've been
- 17:48writing my whole life, but I've kind of kept it a secret, you
- 17:51know? I haven't.
- 17:52Didn't really show. People didn't really release
- 17:54music when I was really young. You weren't like singing any
- 17:56originals, you were just doing covers.
- 17:57Just doing covers. Just doing covers OK.
- 17:59But it wasn't like I wasn't writing.
- 18:00I just wasn't showing people. And I was like, OK, I, I just
- 18:05wasn't ready to, to, to release music yet.
- 18:08And I think that's why now it's like the biggest compliment is
- 18:11when people compliment my writing or they compliment
- 18:13that's what I was telling you music and you know everything
- 18:17about it. And that just means so much
- 18:19because the voice is awesome. Because I love my voice.
- 18:22I mean, you're a singer. Pride and like vocalist
- 18:24technicality, you know, but it's like, wow, you actually like
- 18:28care about what I wrote and like it impacted you.
- 18:30You know, that's what I do for I just want to be of service to
- 18:32others. I literally texted you the other
- 18:34day and I was like, listen, we all know you're an incredible
- 18:36singer. And I was like, you do not get
- 18:37enough flowers for your songwriting.
- 18:39I literally told you I was like, you're such an incredible
- 18:42writer. I hope you know that because I
- 18:43was listening to 21 and I was like, this is clever.
- 18:45This is really clever, You know what I mean?
- 18:47And I was like, you're a really great writer.
- 18:48And I feel like we should appreciate that more and
- 18:51recognize that more because like, your voice is so
- 18:53incredible, obviously, but like, I think your pen game is so
- 18:56strong too. Like you're such a good writer,
- 19:00genuinely. And I love the music in the
- 19:02world you're building. We're literally going to get
- 19:03into it like right now. But I will say my producer was
- 19:06telling me how talented of this singer you are.
- 19:08So fun. Little facts.
- 19:10So Taylor's actually on one of my songs, she does harmonies for
- 19:13me. And we just wanted a little AD
- 19:14Lib from her, but she was in the booth and my producer was like,
- 19:17can you like actually just do like the entire verse?
- 19:19And she did it so generous, by the way.
- 19:21But he just loves your voice and he wanted to hear her do it.
- 19:23And obviously we kept it because it sounded incredible.
- 19:26Of course I would be honored. What?
- 19:27To thank you to. Sing on your song, are you?
- 19:29Kidding. I'm.
- 19:30I'm just like so shocked that you even said yes when I asked
- 19:32you because. I was like stop it.
- 19:33Oh my God, Because people could be so difficult.
- 19:34I don't want to get into it, but like, I'm so happy that you're
- 19:36on the song. Oh, anytime.
- 19:38If you need backgrounds anytime. Stop it.
- 19:39Oh my God, I love you. Then you have such a great
- 19:41voice. I was like, oh, she's going to
- 19:42outshine me, but it's OK. Do it.
- 19:45It's fine. No.
- 19:47Oh my God, the song is amazing. Guys, you're not ready.
- 19:49Thank you so much. Oh my God, I love that.
- 19:51Song special one. So excited.
- 19:54I know, me too, and thank you for being on it.
- 19:56I'm so happy to be on. Are you kidding?
- 19:58I'm happy you asked. I fucking love you.
- 20:00You're such a good friend. Like you're a fucking good
- 20:02friend. That's crazy.
- 20:03Thank you so much. And then my producer Brett was
- 20:06like, she's like Christina Aguilera because of your vocals.
- 20:09Brett, you'd be singing. Thank you.
- 20:11I love me some Christina. Oh my.
- 20:13God, we were out the other night so much and then someone was
- 20:15like, oh, what's your like? What would you compare yourself
- 20:17to? And you're like, huh?
- 20:18And. Then you said Christina, and I
- 20:19was like, I was like, you're right.
- 20:20Brett says Christina. And then you're like, yes, I
- 20:22was. Like, wait, yeah, yeah, 'cause
- 20:23sometimes it's a hard question, 'cause I'm like, I gotta like, I
- 20:26gotta like, look at myself from a third person.
- 20:28Yeah, 'cause I wouldn't be able to clock one either, 'cause I
- 20:30feel like you have such. I was literally telling Brett
- 20:32before we started this, so excited to have you on huge
- 20:35chain of your music. And I was like, what I love
- 20:36about her is like she has such a clear artistic identity.
- 20:39Sonic lane already, like you're very strong in it.
- 20:41And I'm like she's Taylor fell And a lot of artists, especially
- 20:45independent artists, have a difficult time branding
- 20:47themselves and like how they show up and what they want to
- 20:49present themselves as. And you're like so clear in your
- 20:51vision and I really look up to that and admire that like you
- 20:55really are. I mean, even everything you're
- 20:56doing now and this current era and everything, even changed
- 20:59your hair for it. We went brighter.
- 21:03Yeah, I love it. And the pink in the back.
- 21:05For you exactly because that's how good your branding is.
- 21:08I appreciate it. It's super strong.
- 21:10And I do it all. You do it all.
- 21:12Do all the branding. I was going to say you're a
- 21:14fully independent artist and I tell you this all the time, but
- 21:17I'm like your productions, it looks like it's so high budget,
- 21:21it looks so big. I'm like shocked that you're
- 21:23doing everything by yourself too.
- 21:25Thank you. Yeah, it looks good it.
- 21:27Looks. Good.
- 21:28It's balling on a budget guys. That's.
- 21:30Crazy. And I really, I really admire
- 21:32that because I'm like, holy shit, you're turning out like
- 21:33really good quality, like pop star shit and you're doing
- 21:36independently. Thank you.
- 21:38Yeah, it's, it's definitely hard sometimes, you know, being
- 21:41independent. But I just love it, the freedom
- 21:43you have to be able to control everything, really, and to have
- 21:48the power in your hands. You're not.
- 21:50There's no one above me in, you know, my career or my vision.
- 21:55It's like I just, I get to lead and I really love doing that and
- 22:00to spearhead everything. And sometimes it feels like
- 22:02overwhelming. It can be, but in the best way
- 22:04you know, it's it's so fun to like make a million mood boards
- 22:08and. You be making mood boards.
- 22:09Like I'm a mood board. She shows me all her mood
- 22:11boards. I'm like, Oh my God, your mind.
- 22:14I'm like, wait, we're going in some way to redirect.
- 22:16Wait, how are we correlating? I was like, it's going to
- 22:18happen. And it does.
- 22:19And it really consolidated. Oh my gosh.
- 22:21So everything we see and hear from you, this is all you.
- 22:23This is your mind. You're you're doing it, I think.
- 22:26That's why it's so cohesive, even the shirt you're wearing.
- 22:29Period Guys, come on everyone get Taylor Felt merch and new
- 22:33merch that will be coming out as well probably.
- 22:35Oh yeah. Definitely for sure.
- 22:36Period, period. No, because everything, my
- 22:39fingerprints are on everything. My DNA is everywhere.
- 22:41You can tell, you know, it's like my heart in Sonic and
- 22:45visual form. And that's really what what I
- 22:47wanted it to be. It feels like that.
- 22:49Too I don't have a creative director, I don't have a manager
- 22:51I don't got a makeup artist, I don't got nothing we.
- 22:55Need it like. Obviously you don't need it, but
- 22:57like that would be so crazy. Like imagine how good everything
- 23:01else we get better if like you had people dedicating to it too,
- 23:03like we'll get there. We're.
- 23:04No, it's not. Definitely.
- 23:05That's the next upgrade, which is going to be awesome.
- 23:07That's what I'm doing right now. Like I'm building out my team
- 23:09because I'm just like, we're gearing up for the music and
- 23:11everything and I'm just like, OK, I, I'm not you, girl.
- 23:14I cannot handle this. Like I'm like, you make it look
- 23:16easy and you don't complain either.
- 23:19You're like so excited about everything.
- 23:20Like I'll text you before a shoot.
- 23:21You're like yay. And I'm like, oh, I'd be so
- 23:23stressed and I'm such a bitch too.
- 23:25I'd be like snapping at everyone.
- 23:26Like mine's our team. Like I'm.
- 23:28Diva. I have a huge diva.
- 23:30I have a diva. This morning brought was on my
- 23:31ass. I'm a diva in in my own like
- 23:34space, like I'm a diva like in my apartment to my brother, I
- 23:38think, you know, like that's my diva.
- 23:40OK, I apologize to everyone else then, but.
- 23:43Yeah, I get it out. He's like the person I get it
- 23:46out on, OK? He.
- 23:47Can handle it, he can handle it, he can handle it.
- 23:50But that's crazy because you really are like a DIY queen.
- 23:53Like everything you do looks so good and even your cover arts.
- 23:55Oh my God, the single cover for Move a Little.
- 24:00Are you kidding? Covering your eyes.
- 24:02It was so insane. On your nails and the colors,
- 24:05everything's so vibrant. You're moving a little.
- 24:07We moved a lot. Of you moved a lot of girl.
- 24:10And it was shot by Meg. She's my good friend.
- 24:14It was crazy how we met. We I met her when I was 17.
- 24:17Oh shit, how insane. We were at a Fall Out Boy
- 24:19concert. Wait, that's crazy.
- 24:21I know Random. And at the concert, she was
- 24:24sitting behind me and she was like, Oh my God, are you Taylor
- 24:27Felt like I saw your covers online and I was like, Oh my
- 24:30God. We took a photo.
- 24:31And then we just became friends and we would meet up at
- 24:34different events like Beautycon in New York.
- 24:36And I was like, she was like, I'm an aspiring photographer.
- 24:38And I was like, Oh my God, yes. And now she's like alone up and
- 24:41incredible and next level, like going on tour with Mr. Wives and
- 24:45all these big artists and we've been shooting for years because
- 24:49I just, I've always believed in her and she's always believed in
- 24:51me and. That's so great finding like
- 24:53creatives that you can like nurture and also see grow and
- 24:56have them believe in you because I really like that too.
- 24:58I feel like what I'm doing right now, like with the things I'm
- 25:00creating, it's like people I want to be like, I can see you
- 25:03blowing up so much. Like let's do this, like let's
- 25:06do this together. And being around creatives is so
- 25:08inspiring too. I love that.
- 25:10I love being around people who are still growing under the
- 25:14surface. Totally.
- 25:15You know, yeah. It's like, 'cause we're, I feel
- 25:18like we haven't even sprouted yet, you know, like we're, I
- 25:21love flower references, as you can tell.
- 25:23Yes, we just love plants. We haven't bloomed yet, even
- 25:26though I feel a. Lot of my plants dead flowers.
- 25:30Tea, but we're not watering those anymore.
- 25:31No, we're not watering dead. Flowers and we had to learn that
- 25:35that was an experience. Well, let's talk about the Dead
- 25:37Flowers EP. So your debut EP Dead Flowers,
- 25:40this is from an experience that you were going through with a
- 25:42breakup. You have mentioned before that
- 25:45you named it Dead Flowers because it was you learning that
- 25:47you can't water the dead flowers anymore.
- 25:49And this is 7 songs that kind of chronicle like a timeline
- 25:52because it's not just the moment of a breakup.
- 25:54It's like you can actually hear through the songs like what
- 25:56you're thinking and what you're going through with the
- 25:58situation. How is the process of making
- 26:00this EP? It was brutal.
- 26:03And you needed to. Do it.
- 26:04It was like therapy. Like, truly.
- 26:07I feel like we hear it, it feels it's deeply personal and we the
- 26:11lyrics are so like Diary ask. Yeah, like crazy real.
- 26:17And it was sometimes like, oh shit, is this too real?
- 26:20Should I put this out? You know?
- 26:21Just that's the stuff you should put out.
- 26:23I agree. I agree.
- 26:24I think that's when you know, like OK, this has to come out
- 26:27because other people feel this 1000%.
- 26:29We're all humans be the same range of emotion.
- 26:32You know? It's like other people feel
- 26:33this, but with dead flowers. I was so grateful to find like
- 26:37my creative tribe, you know, like I found Dion Gill, he was
- 26:41like partner in crime with music.
- 26:44And it just started with us going into the studio and just
- 26:48talking. We would just talk about life,
- 26:50what I'm going through therapy sessions.
- 26:53We were crying and we were kind of both going through similar
- 26:56things and, and the struggles of being in the music industry and
- 27:00feeling taken advantage of as well as feeling taken advantage
- 27:03of in relationships. It felt like it mirrored you're
- 27:07My like relationship with the music industry was very similar
- 27:11to my relationship. I felt really kind of
- 27:12manipulated. 100% you're going through it during that era too.
- 27:16Yeah, so it kind of was both at the same time.
- 27:19And it was also just, it was hard.
- 27:21There was health issues with my family and I felt just really
- 27:24alone in LA And I feel like everyone has that moment when
- 27:27you move to LA, you're like, I feel so.
- 27:28Alone. Yeah.
- 27:29So my God. Find like your people, you.
- 27:31Know it's your LA rite of passage, trust me.
- 27:33Yeah, literally. Yeah, I was.
- 27:35I was really lonely and I was like living with my ex at the
- 27:39time and it was just like, it was rough.
- 27:42Oh shit. When you live with the wrong
- 27:43person it's like nightmare. Yes, I bet.
- 27:46Yeah, but and wrote this EP and like, broke up with him in the
- 27:52process and breaking up was like the best decision I ever made.
- 27:57And it was so hard. Oh my God.
- 27:59It was hard because I had to relearn who I was cuz I
- 28:02completely lost myself completely in the relationship.
- 28:06I'm like that too. You know, it's like I'm like, I
- 28:09was so attached. Yeah, I mean, honestly, you were
- 28:11so young too. This was a few years ago.
- 28:13Like you're, you're super young right now.
- 28:15But like, you know, young love is toughies.
- 28:18Yeah. And you're living together?
- 28:21Yeah. Yeah I feel like cuz it was my
- 28:23first time moving away from home as well so I was like my first
- 28:26time doing like I don't know big girl shit I guess.
- 28:30That's scary. I was like 19.
- 28:31Now you're with someone and like you're doing it together and
- 28:33like you're trying to figure out life together.
- 28:35It was a lot. I feel like I was a mom.
- 28:37It was not the vibe. Oh God, I know exactly how I've
- 28:40been there. You know, and so got to write
- 28:44this EP and make art out of it. And how like processing it at
- 28:47the same time in real time too? In real time.
- 28:50And a lot of them started just in the shower.
- 28:52Like I love writing in the shower.
- 28:53Oh my God, it's so therapeutic to me.
- 28:55So I was like, like mirror, mirror started in the shower.
- 28:57Oh shit. Literally a voice memo.
- 28:59I have the voice memo. You do you really.
- 29:01Yes. OK, we're adding that to
- 29:02documentary too. Oh yeah, I have the video.
- 29:05You hear the shower. I'm in the shower as I'm.
- 29:08Singing I love. That and I just got the melody
- 29:11out of nowhere. I was just like on the wall and
- 29:14then it just was very, what is it?
- 29:17Snow White esque, you know. Oh my God yeah.
- 29:19Also the visual for it is so sickening.
- 29:21Thank you the. Video yeah, I can't ever tell
- 29:25I'm like you have funding girl and you're like no we're just
- 29:28out here doing it we. Ever tried?
- 29:30Oh my God, do. The best we I edited it with my
- 29:33friend Max and, and directed it with him and he's incredible.
- 29:37Oh my God. So we just had so much fun just
- 29:39working on it and creating it together.
- 29:40And we would just go over to his apartment and we just edit for
- 29:42hours and get it done and the mood board and we just had this
- 29:47black box and we're like, what can we do?
- 29:50We're like, OK, let's shine red lights.
- 29:52And have I have told every all my friends to come and start
- 29:55running. That was when they're running in
- 29:57slow MO. And then I brought my mirror
- 29:59from IKEA that I have in my apartment and we used that.
- 30:02And that's like, yeah, that was the only props.
- 30:05It was like sick and it looked so it.
- 30:07Was trippy too. Yeah, definitely.
- 30:09And I love the single cover. Like it's very like fairy tale
- 30:12esque, you know what I mean? And like the distortion and
- 30:15everything, like it's just, it's such a world that you bring
- 30:17people into. And I really like that about
- 30:19your vision too. And it also feels super
- 30:20cohesive. Thank you.
- 30:22Yeah. And that song in particular,
- 30:23like those lyrics are some of my favorite.
- 30:26Oh my God, introspective. And it was when I really wasn't
- 30:31loving the person in the mirror. Like I wasn't loving the girl
- 30:33that I saw. And I was super insecure and
- 30:36like just so down on myself. That's so crazy.
- 30:39And but I wanted the music to feel like fun.
- 30:42I mean, I wanted it to be the juxtaposition.
- 30:44I love that. I'm it was like like, oh, oh,
- 30:47like they're dancing in the club and then they're like, wait,
- 30:49she's saying. Really sad.
- 30:51That's exactly how I write. I want like the production to be
- 30:53like a Bob and I want the lyric to be like sad and dark.
- 30:56Totally. That's what I love.
- 30:57Like I love dance crime music where it's like where it's like,
- 30:59Oh my God, this is such a Bob. And it's like, wait, that's
- 31:01super sad. That's a really dark shit, yeah.
- 31:04That's my favorite kind of music, so I love that too.
- 31:06Wait, OK, I have a question about that then.
- 31:08So do you feel like because like, you know, your entire
- 31:10life, your family has been so supportive and loving and, you
- 31:12know, really encouraging of you to help you build up your
- 31:14confidence. And now you're in this era where
- 31:16you're losing that confidence. Do you think it's a result from
- 31:18this relationship or do you feel like LA in general, like coming
- 31:21out here being alone? Like, how did you end up
- 31:22feeling, you know, insecure about yourself and uncertain
- 31:26about yourself? I think it was, yeah, they're
- 31:28definitely the people around me. So it was definitely the
- 31:29relationship and like this, the manager that I had at the time
- 31:34as well. It was just a lot of like
- 31:36negative feedback in my ears. You know.
- 31:39Like from all angles, because I just feel like I had a lot of
- 31:42haters around me to be honest. And my family was never haters.
- 31:45People who? Are close to you.
- 31:48Yeah, I'm just grateful that my family was such supporters in my
- 31:51life. But when you're around haters,
- 31:52then you start believing it. Then you start believing, Wait,
- 31:54am I good? Enough.
- 31:54I think you're doubting yourself.
- 31:55Oh my God, it's so crazy. Especially when they're supposed
- 31:58to be in your corner in their OPS.
- 31:59Yeah, and it's like, wait, right, I'm.
- 32:02Confused and so confusing, but there's some sort of
- 32:05manipulation there because they want to make you feel small and
- 32:09make you feel like they that you need you.
- 32:11Need them? Exactly.
- 32:12It's exploitation. I actually drive so much better
- 32:15without you. Oh my God, and.
- 32:16Then realizing that and finding the freedom too, to like move on
- 32:19from that, which, you know, I think especially being in LA in
- 32:22the music industry in general, like that shit is so draining
- 32:25and it's so evil. And that's actually like
- 32:28essentially what my songs take it to Hell is about, about the
- 32:30music industry as a whole, about like how not in the music
- 32:33entertainment industry. Like I feel like I have like a
- 32:36hand on my neck at all times. And like the fear of like OPS
- 32:39being around you. It's like a universal.
- 32:41I feel like especially if you're an entertainer in LA, you're
- 32:43going to go through that and it's super scary.
- 32:45There's a lot of dark energy for sure, and I don't.
- 32:49I put up such a bubble every day.
- 32:50Every morning I put up my little.
- 32:51A little strange bubble. My strange bubble.
- 32:54Only the OG's? No, that's my gamertag on
- 32:56everything. OG heartfelt.
- 32:58Get it? Yeah.
- 32:59Strange bubble, OK, but yeah, you got to put that bubble up
- 33:01you. Got to protect yourself, protect
- 33:03your energy. Trust your intuition because you
- 33:05have all the answers. At the end of the day, nobody
- 33:07knows you like you, and nobody can tell you your vision.
- 33:11You have your vision. It's all in you.
- 33:12Just meditate man. Meditate to dynamite.
- 33:14Period, as you did. You.
- 33:16Guys, we were moving a little the other night, moving a
- 33:18lottle, and she sat down in a booth.
- 33:21She started meditating. Dynamite was playing.
- 33:23It was religious, actually. I was like, I actually
- 33:25completely got this. I felt that on a spiritual
- 33:26level. Like it's dynamite period.
- 33:30I just resend her my chakras with that.
- 33:32There you go. You need.
- 33:34To go out with Taylor, we need to move a little of Taylor.
- 33:36Trust me, it's fun. Everyone, let's just go out how
- 33:39we're going to throw a party. We need to throw a party and
- 33:41then everyone's invited to come. Everyone's coming.
- 33:43We're going to move a Lotto we're going to do, we're going
- 33:45to do more than that, but we'll get into that.
- 33:47So you said the Dead Flowers EP You said it was inspired by a
- 33:49lot of things that were inside this apartment too, like the
- 33:52dead flowers, Like the literal dead flowers.
- 33:54I did have literal dead flowers. It was, and even in that song
- 33:58where I was naming all those objects, I love imagery.
- 34:01So, you know, I was saying about the the socks and the shampoo
- 34:04and the flowers and I just really wanted to create this
- 34:06landscape of. And it was real, too.
- 34:08All real. All real, yeah.
- 34:10It was it was all real. And I was like, wow, this is
- 34:14such a perfect way to describe this like air of my life.
- 34:19A. 100%. It's like stop watering dead
- 34:21flowers, like stop pouring into things that don't serve you.
- 34:24And I just feel like I was just watering these dead flowers
- 34:26hoping they would come back to life.
- 34:27God girl. Be revived?
- 34:29Absolutely. I was like, girl, they're dead,
- 34:31man, you got to let it go. Let them die.
- 34:32Got to. Burn them.
- 34:33Absolutely got to burn them. I.
- 34:35Loved the EP trailer, it was so cinematic and well shot.
- 34:39I know you did that by yourself and you did in your apartment.
- 34:41Yeah, it's my apartment. And the progression of the
- 34:42relationship dying behind the fucking flowers.
- 34:44You guys please watch this trailer for Dead Flowers.
- 34:46It's incredible. So sick, it's one of my favorite
- 34:49things I've ever done. I.
- 34:49Know I'm so happy you're so proud of it because when you
- 34:51sent it to me and you said you loved it and I watched it, I was
- 34:53like, it was like the fact that this is so fucking good and like
- 34:57you just did it yourself. That's crazy.
- 34:59So Max, the same person who did mirror mirror amazing Maximo, he
- 35:04I told him the idea. I gave him a whole storyboard.
- 35:06I put him on my wall. So like when we shot the day I
- 35:08was like, here's storyboard and I just wanted to stand still
- 35:12camera shot in my apartment and have just flowers slowly dying
- 35:16as the relationship is. Still in the background.
- 35:18Behind it. And the color grading and
- 35:20everything just matching the. Color grading.
- 35:23Everything was so great. So it took like a long time
- 35:26because we had to wait for the sun to set for like the.
- 35:28That's right. Because we didn't do it over
- 35:30different days. We did one day.
- 35:32So we did a couple shots. Then we like ate food, watched a
- 35:34little. Bit.
- 35:36And then we shot the ones at night.
- 35:38Like, let's fight now you're. Like, yeah, that's right.
- 35:41And then Ben, my guitarist. You met Ben?
- 35:44Ben. Yeah, He was the guy in the
- 35:46video. Oh.
- 35:46Wait, I didn't clock that. Yeah, I felt like you guys were
- 35:49more silhouettes back there too. You know what I mean, 'cause it
- 35:51was like the the focal really felt like on the flowers.
- 35:54'Cause I like what guy friendly. I'm like Ben's my guy.
- 35:56Like let's go. Oh totally.
- 35:57And so he's the best. And so he he was down.
- 35:59He was like OK, so so I. Love the people you have around
- 36:02you too, yeah? We were fake fighting and I was
- 36:04actually like yelling at him. He was so fun and I like was
- 36:07throwing his clothes that feels good.
- 36:09And he has like a bunch of lizards.
- 36:10Like he has a terrarium woman has like he is a zoo of lizards.
- 36:13OK. And I just knew what to say to
- 36:16get him mad. And I was like, your lizards
- 36:19suck. Then I was just roasting his
- 36:21lizards. And he was lizards.
- 36:22Bro don't. Fucking talk to my lizards like
- 36:24that. And so it was just awesome.
- 36:27It was so fun. You guys were method acting we.
- 36:29Were method acting exactly. I was really getting in there
- 36:32trying to trigger him and then we had the flowers.
- 36:35So the flowers dying, the people were like how did you do that?
- 36:38I get a bunch of flowers right? Shoot ton of flowers.
- 36:41I bought flowers like 2 weeks prior.
- 36:44Then I bought flowers a week prior.
- 36:45Bought flowers 3 days. Girl, you play the long game.
- 36:48Because I had to have different stages, you know what I mean?
- 36:50And then I bought the day, the day of.
- 36:52So I had like fresh ones. And then we had a little bit
- 36:54dead, a little bit more, a little bit more, and then like
- 36:56super dead. You were so fucking patient.
- 36:57I was telling you this other day.
- 36:58Like you're so patient of everything because like, I'm so
- 37:01opposite. I'm like, I need to get in the
- 37:02studio now. I need to do this now.
- 37:03We need to shoot this now. We need to do this now.
- 37:04Like that's how I am. And you're always like, yeah,
- 37:07we're shooting this in a couple of weeks.
- 37:08And you're like, no, no, no. I'm like, girl, I would be
- 37:10losing my fucking mind. Like I would.
- 37:11I hate. Waiting.
- 37:12I'm in for the long game, you know, It's like I've been doing
- 37:15this for SO. Long.
- 37:16You're really chilling Zen. Until I noticed really, I have
- 37:18not seen freak out about anything actually.
- 37:21Literally. Anything freak out alone he.
- 37:22Used to be crazy about it. Used to be a little more eat on
- 37:26edge, you know, I think just as a kid you have so much energy.
- 37:29So I was just so excited, so much energy.
- 37:31Yeah, you're ready to go. But now I feel like I've
- 37:32harnessed it and I know how to control it.
- 37:34Meditating, really meditating. Love to meditate anywhere,
- 37:39literally anywhere at the club. There you go.
- 37:41And yeah, I think that's, and I just see it as a long game, like
- 37:44I'm going to do this for the rest of my life.
- 37:46Like there's no, there's no rush.
- 37:49It's like, where are we rushing towards rushing?
- 37:52Towards the end. Such a rush right now with my
- 37:54things. The rush, you know, it's like.
- 37:56I feel like I'm getting old. You're not getting Oh my God,
- 37:58stop. Don't even say that.
- 37:59I hate that. I feel like that's it.
- 38:01Like I have, I have like a year left to pop stardom and I
- 38:03haven't started. So I'm like.
- 38:05Are you kidding me right now? I don't know, that's how I feel.
- 38:08You're so young. Stop.
- 38:09You. That's how I feel.
- 38:11So much, by the way, see all the pop stars getting Grammys in
- 38:14their like mid 30s. Like, are you kidding?
- 38:16You're right, you're right. Stop.
- 38:17Oh my God, You have to have skin in the game in time.
- 38:20It's like, it's so important. They say it takes 10 years to
- 38:23make an overnight success. Sabrina like a Chapel, you know
- 38:26what I mean? You're so right.
- 38:27Honestly, guys, I just want to say too, like Taylor has been
- 38:30such a great like friend and like, like I go to her 'cause
- 38:35I'm so new to like to make the music and doing everything and
- 38:38I'll, I'll text her and be like, I'm literally fucking freaking
- 38:40out and like what has happened? What?
- 38:41And then she'll be like, it is so normal.
- 38:43She's like, she'll give me advice, she'll listen to the
- 38:44demos. And I'm like, thank God, I'm so
- 38:47happy I met you. And the fact that you actually
- 38:49listened to the demos too, because I could tell when I send
- 38:51it to people and they're like, Oh yeah, that's good.
- 38:52I'm like, you don't care. I feel the same way.
- 38:55I hate sending people my music. I don't do that.
- 38:58That's why when you send it to me, girl, I'm so invested.
- 39:00I'd be like live texting. You like the lyric.
- 39:02I'm like, Oh my God, I'm like, oh, this part here, I'm like,
- 39:04oh, I love when you did it because I'm listening.
- 39:06You know what I mean? Yeah, same.
- 39:07It's like I love giving people real feedback.
- 39:09That's like deep and detailed, like meaningful, meaningful.
- 39:13Exactly like when I play someone's something, a song that
- 39:16I write. Especially guys, Oh my God, I
- 39:19don't ever show ever. If I'm on a date, if I'm dating
- 39:22someone, I don't show them. My music is done.
- 39:24Do they know that you're an artist?
- 39:26Yeah, yeah. They know I'm an artist, but I'm
- 39:27like, I'm not showing my music. I I can't hear the whole like,
- 39:30yeah, that was good. I hate that it makes me feel so
- 39:33bad like I'm like I want feedback please even if it sucks
- 39:35just tell me. I just want to be like, oh, wow,
- 39:37that was a great song. That's one of my favourites.
- 39:39That's even better. Yeah.
- 39:40Or like that's OK. I just hate the vagueness I
- 39:43don't like. That I know the ambiguity.
- 39:45It's like. Especially when the artist is
- 39:46crushing like please. Validate like that was just
- 39:49sorry like hours and hours of my life.
- 39:51Oh yeah. Oh my God, yeah, a lot of work.
- 39:53Real thoughts and. My emotions, yeah, I still got
- 39:56it. But that's what I love about you
- 39:57because you're so like supportive and into it.
- 39:59And I feel like that's like every time you send me anything,
- 40:01I eat it up. So I'm like give me more, give
- 40:04me more. You'll be sending.
- 40:05Oh my God. When we have those nights, we
- 40:07have this so often, guys, it'll be so random.
- 40:09She'll like text me randomly and I'll be.
- 40:10I don't even know what the fuck I'm doing.
- 40:12We'll end up talking like really late of the night about all the
- 40:15music. This is why I'm like this
- 40:16episode. I'm like, finally, this is for
- 40:18me. This is an episode for me.
- 40:19I want to get into the lore. Wait, I had a quick question
- 40:22about the cover art for Dead Flowers.
- 40:23I know how intentional you are about your visuals and just
- 40:25everything you do. Like can you walk me through
- 40:27like choosing the cover art, what your concept or what your
- 40:29thoughts were when you did the Dead Flowers cover art?
- 40:31Because like it looks like to me, you're like a stop light.
- 40:34You know when you have a red light on you, That's what I
- 40:37clock. But like, I don't know.
- 40:38Like that's why I want to talk about.
- 40:39It stop it. I never thought about that.
- 40:40I like that though, you know what I mean?
- 40:42And it's so pretty. Wait, that's so cool.
- 40:44So that was actually on. You wouldn't even know.
- 40:49It was like at the top of a mountain.
- 40:50Oh, yeah, yeah, top of a mountain.
- 40:52Like a hill, maybe, maybe not a mountain, but like a hill.
- 40:55And it was in, I think, like Eagle Rock or like Silver Lake.
- 40:59Somewhere around there. Like a little sea list like
- 41:01around there and it was this hill and it was gorgeous
- 41:04overlook. Like you got to see all the
- 41:06night sky and it was at night and we brought this red light
- 41:08and they just were shining in my face and I had dead flowers that
- 41:11I bought weeks prior. And.
- 41:13Said RIP 2 And I was holding it and we, we did so many photo
- 41:19shoots. So this was shot by Sarah and
- 41:20she's amazing. Oh yeah, we did a lot of in
- 41:23studio photo shoots. We did.
- 41:24I was like in actual flowers. I got rashes.
- 41:27All over my guys, this is the cover art.
- 41:29That's the cover art. Yes, it's also on the.
- 41:31With my dead flowers. And so the blue was like
- 41:33actually the black sky, but it looked blue with oh, I love that
- 41:36coloring. It looked really cool.
- 41:38And that was just the favorite. We had another one that I was
- 41:42going to use. Really, what would it look like?
- 41:44It was, it was in studio. I had a Band-Aid on my eye right
- 41:48here and it said dead flowers and I had little dead flowers in
- 41:50it. And I want.
- 41:51To see that, I'll show you it show.
- 41:53Me after this, I really want to see it.
- 41:54Really. Cool.
- 41:54And I was going to use it, but I was like something about this
- 41:58and the blue and the. Red.
- 41:59Felt right the how it felt so melancholy totally because the
- 42:02EP so. Melt it reflects it too.
- 42:05Yeah, it's. So and my eyes were closed and I
- 42:07kind of felt serene. It was like kind of like a
- 42:09funeral. Like I felt like I was.
- 42:11The stop light's cool though. I feel like I was a little bit
- 42:13stopped like. Interesting.
- 42:14I don't know. Yeah, I love that.
- 42:15That's kind. Of interesting, yeah.
- 42:17But I like the lore behind that and then also like I like the
- 42:20emotional journey the entire EP takes us on.
- 42:23It's a journey, and it's all in chronological order as well.
- 42:25Absolutely, because you honestly, it opens with days
- 42:28like this. Yep.
- 42:28And it's just like you're literally.
- 42:30I wish I was. Single you're acknowledging
- 42:31you're like, wow, I I do wish I was on this relationship.
- 42:35Yeah. And then you go you.
- 42:36Take us through it. I wish you cheated.
- 42:39You're like, give me a reason. Then I wish you cheat.
- 42:41Yes, and then you were in Disneyland for me.
- 42:43And then I was in Disneyland for a moment, all alone with my
- 42:46brother. Oh.
- 42:48My God, you're just sitting here.
- 42:49You're like I'm. Just it was like, oh, this is
- 42:52supposed to be my boyfriend. It's my brother Jesus.
- 42:56And he was like, he doesn't like Disneyland, so it's kind of not
- 42:59fun. Oh my God.
- 43:01But I love him but. He was looking.
- 43:03Out of bed it. Felt it feels like it in the
- 43:06song too. It felt like a rainy day and and
- 43:09I was like, wow, how do I feel? Like the saddest I've ever been
- 43:13at the happiest place on earth. Wow, it's not working.
- 43:16Just magic ain't working right now.
- 43:18And then this is you kind of clocking everything.
- 43:20Yeah, and that song I think is my favorite on the EP Happy.
- 43:22Really. I didn't know that.
- 43:23Yeah. Oh my gosh.
- 43:25It literally makes me cry all the time.
- 43:27It's also just like. How did you revisit the CP?
- 43:30I don't really listen to it actually really, but when I do,
- 43:34it's like really cool. And I'm like, oh wow, like
- 43:36because it's been like 2 years, kind of like it's cool to look
- 43:40back and like go back into that energy and be like, oh wow, I've
- 43:44grown so much. Absolutely.
- 43:45And like when you listen to it, I'd listen to it and I was like,
- 43:50oh, wow, like I haven't. Oh my God, Every time you send
- 43:52me things like we listen to it together, we listen to it
- 43:54together, we're like talking about it in real time.
- 43:56I'm like, oh, wait, yeah. You're like, oh, that was a cool
- 43:58thing I did there. And I'm like, that was a cool
- 43:59thing there. Everything is super intentional,
- 44:02like every little nugget, every little I I played all the live
- 44:05piano on the EP everything like it was just so fun to create
- 44:10this like with my team, like with Dion, Alexi, Major, Dre,
- 44:15Ben, all of us together. We just we're all artists
- 44:19individually and then together we come together, jam out.
- 44:22I love that. And I usually for especially
- 44:25dead flowers, I already had songs like mostly written at
- 44:27home. So I would be at home, right,
- 44:29because I just do the best writing alone for really like
- 44:33emotional stuff. I can't like pour my heart out
- 44:36and. Actually kind of literally
- 44:38saying, yeah, it feels like really weirdly vulnerable
- 44:41because even though you're acknowledging like, I do want to
- 44:42put this out, people are going to hear it, but it's like, I got
- 44:44a little shot. And a little vacuum, like let me
- 44:46be my little echo chamber. You know 100%.
- 44:48And so I was like, let me be in my, you know, little room and
- 44:51write my song alone. It's just better.
- 44:55But for fun dance songs, fun like fun songs that are not as
- 44:59like when. You want to move a little.
- 45:00Yeah, exactly. When we move a little, I can be
- 45:02with everyone. You're just like, I actually
- 45:04like the energy of other people. Yeah, it's fun.
- 45:06It helps. It definitely does.
- 45:08I think there's a time and space to have like collaborators
- 45:11because when it comes to me in my music, it's like I usually
- 45:13come into a session with a song literally top to bottom, fully
- 45:16written, and I'm not even really flexible at changing any lyric.
- 45:19I'm like. Yeah, you're just, you're a
- 45:20little rigid. I'm very rigid of my lyric.
- 45:22I'm like I said what I said. And I was like, no, Ryan, like
- 45:25it's if someone has a good idea and you and you think it's a
- 45:28good idea, allow it in. You literally were encouraging
- 45:31me. You were just like honestly,
- 45:32like it's about collaboration and seeing what's up to you.
- 45:34Because I'm very like I am strict with the lyric too.
- 45:36Like I used to be the same way, though I understand.
- 45:38My mom used to tell me, yeah, I'm going to say this, Mom, this
- 45:42is so funny. I was, I remember, I was 14.
- 45:45This is my first session ever, OK.
- 45:47And I, we traveled all the way to New Jersey.
- 45:50So it's like 2 1/2 hours drove to New Jersey and we, they, the
- 45:55producer sent me a beat and I'd and my mom was like, you don't
- 45:58have anything written. This was the night before.
- 45:59You don't have anything written. And I was like, no, like we're
- 46:02going to write there. She's like, no, you got to have
- 46:03the whole song written. She's like you got homework girl
- 46:05and I. Was like, no, literally go to
- 46:07work. I was like, oh, shoot.
- 46:08So then I wrote the entire song the night prior because I was
- 46:12like, I got to show up with something.
- 46:13I can't show up empty handed. So I show up.
- 46:17There was a writer there. They had the producer there and
- 46:19the writers like, oh, like you're excited, like, right.
- 46:21And I'm like, yeah, yeah, I have it written Cute.
- 46:24They were older. Yeah.
- 46:25They were like older and I was 14, so they were like twenties,
- 46:2830s. So they're probably like, are
- 46:30you excited to sing? Excited, right?
- 46:32And they sing this little of me like, oh, you're ready?
- 46:35You're ready, I think. That's how people treat me in
- 46:36sessions. They're like, oh, you're like
- 46:38gonna do it. I'm like, are they always used?
- 46:39To treat me like that, Oh my God.
- 46:40That's why I had to kind of act like an adult at a young age.
- 46:43Absolutely respect, Totally. But so then I showed up with my
- 46:46full song and it was called moving it up.
- 46:50See, I don't know why move. And then I have a song called
- 46:53Move the fuck on. Move is like a that's.
- 46:54Right, you do. Little correlation we got and
- 46:56now we got to move a little. So I was like saying my, I was
- 46:59like, play the beat. I think I wrote something and I
- 47:01sang it live, the whole song. And then the writer was like,
- 47:04yeah, my job's done. There's nothing for me to.
- 47:07Do and I. Was like, oh dope.
- 47:09Like we tweaked a couple of sentences and words and it was
- 47:12like, oh wow, it's done. Like that's so cool.
- 47:14So I thought that was a standard for everything.
- 47:15And then I realized, like, no, it's actually kind of beautiful
- 47:18to to create something together out of thin air.
- 47:21You know, we walk into a room with nothing.
- 47:23That's how I felt when I did take it to Hell.
- 47:25I was like, like, this is crazy. Like I walked into the session
- 47:28and this song did not exist because I didn't have anything
- 47:30written for that one. Like I actually was fresh from
- 47:32being angry that I was like, this is what I want to write
- 47:34about. And then we did it.
- 47:35And then I was like, oh, this is crazy because I'm very used to
- 47:38just showing up with it. Done.
- 47:40Yeah, you. Know what I mean with the whole
- 47:42structure and everything? Talked about him like versus pre
- 47:45chorus, bridge, all done walk into a session.
- 47:47Like now we just produce, you know what I mean?
- 47:49But I think exactly like talking to you and learning that because
- 47:52like I think there's so many different ways to write and then
- 47:54also I should be more open minded to it.
- 47:56So like it's so helpful and like I really love that you've been
- 47:58doing for so long too, because I feel like I really trust when
- 48:01you're telling me like things in your advice, like you've been
- 48:04it, you've done it, you're doing it.
- 48:05I think now my relationship with writing is like, I don't
- 48:08actually actually write it, you know?
- 48:09It's like I'm just the the vessel of it.
- 48:11Really. But can you elaborate?
- 48:13I'm just receiving it totally. So I believe that like a song or
- 48:18an idea is like floating in the ether.
- 48:21I said the same shit and then. It picks the person or the thing
- 48:26that it wants for it to come to a life, you know?
- 48:29And so I was like, oh wow, like that song picked me to be the
- 48:33person that writes it and sings it, and that's so awesome.
- 48:34And if if I don't do it, someone else will.
- 48:37You told me that. You know, and it's like Michael
- 48:39Jackson said that once about like Prince and he's like, I got
- 48:41to do this song. Prince is going to do it.
- 48:43I just love that saying and I. Was like.
- 48:45That really makes sense because we are all connected.
- 48:49We're all like one. That's just what I believe.
- 48:51And it's like, OK, cool, if I don't write this, someone else
- 48:54will and someone probably else has, you know, it's like that's
- 48:57why there's so many similar. Songs like.
- 48:59Nothing is truly kind of like original, but it's original to
- 49:03us. It's it's original to our
- 49:05interpretation. 100. Percent And so that's why I'm
- 49:08like, you know what? It's for the best of the music.
- 49:10It's not even for the best of my ego, not the best of my career.
- 49:13It's like this is the best for the song because it deserves
- 49:16justice and it deserves like the best that everyone can.
- 49:20And if this person that's not me has a better line or has a
- 49:23better melody, I put my ego aside.
- 49:26You. Know yeah, I think I'm learning
- 49:27that right now like, you know Nathan tells me that all the
- 49:29time TV is like and my producers are always like you got to do
- 49:31what's best for the song and I'm like but this is mine and I'm
- 49:34like I should be the one who does all of it but it's like a.
- 49:37Child like you can't be like a helicopter.
- 49:38Parent, you know, No, I know you have to kind of like you.
- 49:40You have to do what it needs to thrive.
- 49:42You know what I mean? And that's kind of what I'm
- 49:44learning too, because I could get really precious about
- 49:46things. And I actually think you told me
- 49:48to like to not to be too attached or precious with the
- 49:50songs either because you're going to make so many more, you
- 49:52know? And like, that's such a crazy
- 49:54concept for me to learn too. We'll get into it because.
- 49:57You don't have to release every song you make, you know?
- 49:58Yeah, and. You're probably not gonna.
- 50:00No, Yeah, but like you can release.
- 50:01Like please release. You know, there was, it took me
- 50:04a while to like get over myself and like actually release
- 50:08because I think growing up it was like so many people in your
- 50:11head like. Yeah, and your really don't
- 50:13really don't really like you have to wait, you need this and
- 50:15you know. A label you got to get signed
- 50:18and da da da da. And now it's like.
- 50:20No fucking I'm gonna do. It you need anyone like you can
- 50:22do it yourself. Like yeah, I upload every song
- 50:25myself. I've uploaded every single song
- 50:27onto the distro. Yeah, I'm a little tech.
- 50:30This is you. You should be plugging.
- 50:31It. In I'll be putting all the
- 50:32numbers in the UPC, the ISRC like.
- 50:35Yeah, you'll be doing it. Yeah, I don't know any of that.
- 50:38Damn. I'm.
- 50:38I'm gonna hit you up when the time comes.
- 50:40Yeah, let you know it's a little difficult.
- 50:42Sometimes Oh shit. OK, fuck it.
- 50:44Well, honestly, you have been releasing and you released a lot
- 50:47of songs last year in 2025, so I'm going to talk a little bit
- 50:50of those because one of my favorite songs of yours ever Not
- 50:53going to wait was one of your 2025 releases.
- 50:54Actually thing was your first one for him last year.
- 50:56Yeah Oh my God, it's so good in your ad libs at the end you go
- 51:00the fuck off. I'm a.
- 51:02Big gong gong gong. Oh, off, girl.
- 51:04And then you release the acoustic version of it at the
- 51:05end of this, the end of 2025. Yeah.
- 51:08And it's so beautiful, but I love not.
- 51:11Gonna wait. Oh, that's a special.
- 51:13It's one of my favourites by you.
- 51:14I have a favorite guys. It's not out yet, but as far as
- 51:17what's out, not gonna wait, obviously move a little, but not
- 51:19gonna wait, love, not gonna wait and I love.
- 51:22I hope you heal 21. Roll the dice is so good too.
- 51:26Oh my God. Fucking great.
- 51:29But it's so good. So you were dropping these songs
- 51:31and they're not the 2025 singles which I just mentioned.
- 51:34They're not going to be a part of this upcoming project,
- 51:36though. They.
- 51:37Are not Yeah. So they are standalone little
- 51:40Nuggets that people get to have. I kind of wanted, I wanted to
- 51:44see how to get over the, like, fear of putting out music.
- 51:48I was like, you know what, let me just drop a song every other
- 51:50month and I did it. We dropped 656 songs last year.
- 51:54You know, I was like, let me just put it out.
- 51:57It doesn't have to be attached to an EP.
- 51:59It doesn't have to, you know, it's fine.
- 52:02Just put it out, you know, let it live and it will find its
- 52:05people. Find the ears that are meant to
- 52:07hear it, you know, because I feel like some when you write a
- 52:10song or when someone makes a song, it's like there are people
- 52:12out there that are dying to hear it.
- 52:14Absolutely that are like needing to hear that message.
- 52:16Like I feel the same way. Like.
- 52:17You're right how it's going to connect.
- 52:18Sometimes I hear a song and I'm like, Oh my God, they just,
- 52:20like, spoke exactly what I needed.
- 52:22And they just took pages out of my diary.
- 52:24Like, that's exactly what I wanted and that's all I want for
- 52:28others, you know, It's like, yeah, to.
- 52:30That's why you gotta put it out. See what happens.
- 52:32Just see it like fuck it. Who cares?
- 52:34I think people are scared of flopping.
- 52:35Yeah, who gives a shit, you know?
- 52:37Oh my God, it's like you said, it's like it's 10 years to like
- 52:40be an overnight success anyways. I think like I used to have that
- 52:43fear too, because I've always wanted to.
- 52:44Do that lush life for. Example.
- 52:45Oh yeah, 10. Years.
- 52:46This was a song 10 years exactly 2016, literally forever ago, and
- 52:50I remember it was my favorite. Oh, I love lush life too.
- 52:53Yeah. Oh.
- 52:54My God, I remember it used to play in the middle of like teen
- 52:57Nick shows and I was like, who is this?
- 52:58Girls are like I've been obsessed with her forever.
- 53:00Seriously, my girl. And I just love that so many
- 53:04nostalgic songs are having revivals, you know?
- 53:07And it's like you never know when a song is going to blow up,
- 53:09what song is going to pop off or when it's going to find its
- 53:11people. So it's like, just put it out.
- 53:13Why not? You know Joe's DJ OS song and
- 53:16the Beginning just went top 10 this week and it came out in
- 53:18like 20/22/2021. Wow, isn't that crazy.
- 53:21That's crazy. Like.
- 53:22Really. Pink Pony Club.
- 53:23That was like years. Seven years, like genuinely,
- 53:27like she got dropped from her label.
- 53:28I know, and then she like this whole thing happened.
- 53:30That's so crazy. That's the thing, like I think
- 53:32for me, like I wanted to put out music too, but then I was like,
- 53:35I don't want to flop. That's super embarrassing, but
- 53:36at the scene I'm just like fuck it, whatever anymore, who cares?
- 53:39Like we just fuck it, we fall of.
- 53:41Rejection, the fear of like, flopping like it's done.
- 53:44We're done in 2026, no. We're just going to do it.
- 53:46Just do it. Do it with fear.
- 53:47Do it with fear. Fuck it, Who cares?
- 53:49Absolutely. You know, it's, I don't know, I
- 53:51think, I think with this next era of music, I feel so
- 53:56different. Like I feel so fearless.
- 53:59I feel so much like my younger self.
- 54:01I feel like I'm 15 again, like starting music.
- 54:03Again, regained that confidence that you felt like you were
- 54:06losing during dead flowers. 1000% I feel like I've returned
- 54:08home to myself and I just feel like powerful again.
- 54:14Yeah, I I feel really. Like you're really ready.
- 54:15Conviction in everything I do. 100%.
- 54:18And I'm so proud of this next music.
- 54:20Like Move a Little is just the start of the era, yes.
- 54:24But this new music, you heard it.
- 54:26I love it, I'm obsessed, I'm so ready for it to come out.
- 54:29Y'all Like genuinely even we'll move a little.
- 54:32Which came out January 8th. I was counting down the days
- 54:34like a stream on Spotify and I'm so excited about it.
- 54:37It's the first offering from this project.
- 54:40But well, I want to talk about Move a little.
- 54:41So this is the first single off this upcoming project and I love
- 54:44the project. I'm so excited about the song
- 54:46and the music video is so crazy. Thank you.
- 54:49Wait, can we talk about it? You're literally, literally in
- 54:52an in motion moving truck. Yes.
- 54:54I was like, let me challenge myself.
- 54:56You're like, I always want to challenge myself.
- 54:59Yeah, this was so insane, the way this came about.
- 55:02I was meditating, of course, goes back to the meditating
- 55:05guys. There you go.
- 55:06I was meditating because I really wanted to come up with
- 55:09some cool ideas for move a little and in the visuals.
- 55:12It could have been cool if I was in a club or a bar and just
- 55:15dancing and stuff, but I feel like that's like predictable,
- 55:17you know? I always want to try to
- 55:19something out of sight, something I.
- 55:20Actually bought this is super camp.
- 55:22Thank you. That means a lot.
- 55:24Yeah. So I was meditating after my
- 55:26meditation, hopped on Pinterest. We love Pinterest.
- 55:29And I was scrolling through different pins and I saw this
- 55:32photo of like a logo on the back of a truck.
- 55:35And it just like, clicked light bulb.
- 55:37I was like, wait, move a little moving company, let me be in a
- 55:44truck and so. And.
- 55:47Then move a little truck. And I just had this vision of
- 55:49like move a little as like a moving party company.
- 55:53And I was in this truck kind of putting these boxes in this
- 55:57truck and then I could like sing on this truck and then it would
- 56:00kind of like move places and whatever.
- 56:03We didn't have enough. We couldn't really do like a
- 56:05party at a certain location, you know, but we did the best we
- 56:08could. Girl, it was a party.
- 56:10It was a party. You took us to the club in that
- 56:12truck. In the truck exactly and it was
- 56:13moving so we I. Told my.
- 56:15Mom, the idea, I was like, mom, we got to figure this out.
- 56:17We got to find a truck. She how are we going to do this?
- 56:19I'm like. We going to do it.
- 56:20We going to figure it out, see it, it's going to happen.
- 56:23And we were calling different places to rent a box truck and
- 56:27they wouldn't rent on Sundays. So we needed to shoot it on a
- 56:30Sunday. And to shoot it on a Sunday
- 56:32you'd have to rent it like Saturday through Monday.
- 56:34So we would have to have this box truck for like 3 days to
- 56:37figure out how to park. It and my mom.
- 56:38Would drive it like it just wouldn't have worked.
- 56:40So my mom saw this like truck outside our apartment.
- 56:44It was a moving truck. She was like why aren't we
- 56:46calling moving companies? I was like genius.
- 56:49So she was calling different moving companies.
- 56:50She's found this like small moving company that just opened,
- 56:53called them up and she just told them what our idea was and like,
- 56:57all you have to do is just kind of drive the truck around for
- 56:59like 2 hours and we're going to film in the back and that's it.
- 57:03And they're like, yeah, that's like the easiest day ever.
- 57:06And we don't have to move furniture.
- 57:08We don't have to. We just going to drive.
- 57:10Yeah. Just, like, drive a pop star
- 57:11around whatever, yeah. Driving the truck just floppin
- 57:16go over there and you. Did this video.
- 57:18Floppin, yeah. Oh my God she hasn't.
- 57:20I'll take up her eating shit y'all.
- 57:21I don't think I've shot 1 music video where I didn't eat shit.
- 57:24I mean, it's kind of a part of the ritual as a pop *.
- 57:26I gotta. Eat some shit you had to.
- 57:28I just, yeah, I felt. Because the truck was in motion.
- 57:31Like actually in motion. The bruises I had after we're
- 57:33low. This is not pretty.
- 57:34VFX She's literally in a moving. Truck.
- 57:36No, literally. So it was moving and what was
- 57:39crazy about the shout out at this company, They're amazing.
- 57:41I have to figure out their names so I can shout them out because
- 57:43they were everything shout out. David, the driver, he was my
- 57:46favorite person and they were they kept calling us and we're
- 57:50like, Hey, we also have a hot pink truck.
- 57:53And I was like, no, no, it's fine.
- 57:55We'll see the white like I, you know, the White's fine, we're
- 57:57good, we're good. They sent us videos and they
- 57:59also sent the hot pink truck video.
- 58:01They're like, we want to just send the video as well so you
- 58:03can like see what it would look like.
- 58:05And after I saw the video, I was like, Oh yeah.
- 58:07That's the truck. What we need a hot pink truck
- 58:10that's going to pop. Pop.
- 58:12And it did. Pop and I was like yeah, let's
- 58:13do the hot pink and it was just perfect.
- 58:15They had one with like a door on the side so like people could
- 58:17enter. It was just perfection.
- 58:21Hot pink truck saw it. We put some XS on it so we could
- 58:23do VFX for the move. A little logo on the back.
- 58:27And I wanted to look really extra in this truck.
- 58:30Like I didn't want to look like I'm just, you know, jeans and a
- 58:33sweatshirt. You.
- 58:34Know I got to look. Full in a sweat, like moving
- 58:37truck, like boots. We got the fur and I was like
- 58:41sweating my ass off. I was falling.
- 58:42I was dancing in a truck, moving truck in heels girl, it was
- 58:48insane. And so I can't even walk in
- 58:50heels like on the ground, like I'm in a truck and.
- 58:52You're in motion. So we're in the truck, we start
- 58:54moving and we go filming. So we have like one guy holding
- 58:59my friend Sylvan. He's filming it.
- 59:01Dion's in there. Oh yeah, you guys were
- 59:03communicating on the phone. So mom was in the passenger seat
- 59:06communicating with Dion via speakerphone and was like bump
- 59:09incoming 3. 21. And she's like, we're turning in
- 59:133-2. And so they're like giving me
- 59:15like the cues of like what's going on with the road.
- 59:17So I got to brace myself. So I like start squatting and
- 59:20like also look hot and serve at the same time.
- 59:22So I'm like, Oh my God, there's so much going on.
- 59:24My brain was like, and then there was a strobe light.
- 59:26So then we're like, let's turn it up a gear.
- 59:28You're over to me. Strobe light in a moving yeah in
- 59:32the heels with bumps and it was the bumpiest Rd. in Hollywood.
- 59:35Why? Girl.
- 59:36And then the cars were honking at you.
- 59:38Cars were honking. Cars were giving us the middle
- 59:40finger. Oh yeah, they were pissed.
- 59:42Amazon drivers were just like stopping and watching.
- 59:44I kind of love that. It's like, guys, we're in LA.
- 59:46Have you never seen a poster before?
- 59:47What is going? On First off, if I if I saw
- 59:49that, I would be kind of intrigued and I wouldn't be mad.
- 59:53I'd be like, huh? I'd be jealous.
- 59:55I'd be like, I wish that was. Me, I'm like, that's kind of
- 59:56cool. Like, hell yeah, it was cool.
- 59:57I would film it. I'd be like, who is that?
- 59:59But they were so mad. I'm like, it's a Sunday, there's
- 1:00:02nowhere to go, come on guys, relax.
- 1:00:04But also it was like a one lane St.
- 1:00:06Like they couldn't even really go over.
- 1:00:07Me really? Oh fuck, 'cause you got some
- 1:00:10behind the scenes videos of cars just like they were trailing.
- 1:00:12Trailing. Yeah, these.
- 1:00:14Poor people. I felt bad, but it was.
- 1:00:16Girl, this was all worth it. Yeah, it was worth it.
- 1:00:18It was all worth it. And the video turned out so
- 1:00:20sick. So sick I was getting Vertigo
- 1:00:22from the strobe lights. I bet you were.
- 1:00:24Oh my God. Yeah.
- 1:00:25Floor was ceiling. All of it.
- 1:00:27Oh yeah, 400% ceiling everything.
- 1:00:29It was. That's crazy.
- 1:00:30It looked so fucking good. It's such a visual master.
- 1:00:33Music. Now it's out.
- 1:00:34I can't believe it. Guys, go watch this music video
- 1:00:36and so sick and she obviously put a lot of blood, sweat and
- 1:00:38tears into this, so please check it out.
- 1:00:40And I also love the fucking teaser for Move a little that
- 1:00:43you did before you even announce the song.
- 1:00:45Like taking us back to the early 2000s, girl.
- 1:00:48Oh, we're back. Is this what this air is looking
- 1:00:50like? I feel it really is.
- 1:00:52It's like I want it to feel like a mixture of Y2K and futurism
- 1:00:56had a child. I fucking love that it's.
- 1:00:59You're so defined with it too, and it's so clear.
- 1:01:01Thank you. It looks so good.
- 1:01:02Yeah. I love like Chrome core.
- 1:01:04I love like, that's why I got my little.
- 1:01:06Chrome, not piercings. Not not real piercings.
- 1:01:09Not real piercings. We got to clear up those rumors.
- 1:01:11Yeah, all the rumors. Oh my God, so much girl.
- 1:01:14So hard. But yeah, I just, I love Chrome.
- 1:01:17I'm a silver silver down. Love me some silver.
- 1:01:20We need to talk about Move a little like the story behind it
- 1:01:22too. Oh yes.
- 1:01:23Oh yeah. It's based on a real night,
- 1:01:24y'all. Oh yeah, Wild, wild night, you
- 1:01:26were. Telling me the other Daniels,
- 1:01:29like, when did you get home like?
- 1:01:31Like 830 the. Sun was out the.
- 1:01:33Sun was out like it was in the morning.
- 1:01:36Not PM guys, AM. Yeah, it was insane.
- 1:01:39We were in New York, so it all started like the conception of
- 1:01:43like this next project that I'm working with really got inspired
- 1:01:47when I went to New York Fashion Week.
- 1:01:49Last year, your first time. First time.
- 1:01:51You look so sickening, by the way.
- 1:01:52Thank you your. Looks I love your style.
- 1:01:54I appreciate it, I said myself. I love everything about you, but
- 1:01:56keep going. And so I went to New York
- 1:01:59Fashion Week and just to be around just a different group of
- 1:02:03people. Yeah, the energy, the energy.
- 1:02:05I also love New York, like going to New York since I was a kid,
- 1:02:08but just the energy of New York and how everyone is super
- 1:02:11authentic, like extremely individualistic and it's like
- 1:02:15it's praised sometimes in LA it feels like people are trying to
- 1:02:17like be clones, you know? So in New York it's just like,
- 1:02:21wow, everyone is hyper independent and I just love
- 1:02:23that. And everyone's so driven and
- 1:02:25being in the fashion scene is a scene like I haven't really been
- 1:02:27in. And I was like, like, I told
- 1:02:30them I sang. And they were like, oh, wow.
- 1:02:32Like they were like really intrigued.
- 1:02:35When if I say like, I sing, everyone's like, yeah, we do
- 1:02:37too. We all sing.
- 1:02:38We all sing. I think we all sing.
- 1:02:40Exactly. I think we all sing where it was
- 1:02:42really cool being like in that scene.
- 1:02:44And they were just like, Oh my God, how do you, like, write a
- 1:02:46song? And I was like, oh, cool.
- 1:02:48I feel like I'm like. And.
- 1:02:49You're like, let me tell you. Oh.
- 1:02:50My God, cool. And I was like, wait, tell me
- 1:02:53how you got into fashion. Like it was just so.
- 1:02:56Different. Different scene 100%.
- 1:02:58The music was so inspiring. I just soak up different
- 1:03:01environments like a sponge. Like that's why I can't wait to
- 1:03:04travel. Oh my God, I'm going to like
- 1:03:06write out. The projects that come out of
- 1:03:07that, it's. Going to be crazy crazy.
- 1:03:10I haven't been outside the US yet, which is like.
- 1:03:12When you go to Europe and you have your euro pop album, girl.
- 1:03:16Girl I need to go to Germany bad.
- 1:03:18OK, right. Sweden.
- 1:03:19Yeah, I need. I want to go to Sweden so bad.
- 1:03:21They make the best pop music. I know.
- 1:03:23You know what I lot of these songs in Albania this project
- 1:03:25come. On, come on, right?
- 1:03:27I'm Albanian as well, so I'm Romanian, Albanian and Greek.
- 1:03:30OK, dua lipa. It's like dua lipa.
- 1:03:32BB Rexa B. Rexa Rita Ora.
- 1:03:35Rita Ora. I love Rita.
- 1:03:37Yes, Taylor felt. Yeah, it's with so many.
- 1:03:40It's like so much good music. I love Europe.
- 1:03:42Yeah, I love everywhere We're. Excited for that project when
- 1:03:44you go to Europe. Yeah, but so, well, I was in New
- 1:03:46York, Yeah, was inspired by the runway music so much like
- 1:03:49electronic runway music. I was just like 4 on the floor
- 1:03:52strut just like, and it was so like crunchy and electronic and
- 1:03:56glitchy. And I was listening to a lot of
- 1:03:58Clam Casino and like FK Twigs and, and I was just like, I need
- 1:04:05to make music like this super glitchy, but also this feeling
- 1:04:09of nostalgia. Like I've heard the song before.
- 1:04:11Like I want it to feel like, like I said, like old meets new.
- 1:04:16Can I coin something? I feel like because I've
- 1:04:18listened to this project and I love it.
- 1:04:20It's like recession pop, but in 20252026, like modern day, like
- 1:04:25you really brought it to where we are right now with this
- 1:04:27musical landscape. But it reminds me of like the
- 1:04:30best era of pop music, which was for me, like there were the 20
- 1:04:33tens, the thousands, you know? And that's what you're giving
- 1:04:35here. 1000% yeah. Thank you.
- 1:04:37Oh my God, that means a lot. Oh my God, that's so good.
- 1:04:40That was my favorite era of music.
- 1:04:42Me too, we grew up with. It I'm so grateful to grow up in
- 1:04:44that. Me too.
- 1:04:45And I just wanted to make a project and, and make songs that
- 1:04:48my younger self would be so proud of.
- 1:04:50Yeah. And she would just freak out.
- 1:04:53She's got her. She'd be gagged.
- 1:04:54It should be like, wait, what? That's me.
- 1:04:58Just growing up listening to like Lady Gaga and Christina and
- 1:05:02Britney and Beyoncé and Rihanna and I was just like, oh, I just
- 1:05:06wanted to feel like a mod. Podge is like all my favorite.
- 1:05:09Absolutely. Artists ever.
- 1:05:10And then also just taking so much inspiration from a million
- 1:05:14different places. My mood boards go, like you
- 1:05:16said, everywhere. Oh my God they're so good.
- 1:05:18I'm going to start making mood boards.
- 1:05:19Literally, I don't make mood boards for everything.
- 1:05:22You do everything. No, like, I swear to God, yeah.
- 1:05:24You literally were showing me you were talking about something
- 1:05:26else earlier before we shot. I was like, oh, I want to see
- 1:05:28you pulled up this like Pinterest board and you had a
- 1:05:30million things. I was like, oh, you, you're
- 1:05:32ready to go. This is very cohesive.
- 1:05:35I was like, oh damn. I have this vision for this and
- 1:05:38this and this and this and this and this and this, and I have to
- 1:05:40just make it all cohesive, but it's going to work.
- 1:05:42Everything you do with this project, the Sonic world that
- 1:05:44you built with this project is. So my whole thing as an artist
- 1:05:47myself is cohesion and I want everything to make sense and be
- 1:05:50in the same world because I feel like my one critique about a lot
- 1:05:53of artists right now is like their shit is so random.
- 1:05:55It's so all over the place and it's like, I can't, I can't tell
- 1:05:58who you are as an artist personally.
- 1:05:59Like with these other artists, no one that's been on the show,
- 1:06:03of course, but I just mean like in general, I'm like, I want to
- 1:06:06know who you are. I want to see it.
- 1:06:07And with this project that you have, it is so, so incredibly
- 1:06:11sonically cohesive. And it's also like, interesting
- 1:06:14and like, surprising. Like Nathan was telling me he
- 1:06:16was like, you want to have a project where you're listening
- 1:06:17to it and like something comes up and you're like, oh, and
- 1:06:19that's why I felt listening to yours.
- 1:06:21Yeah, a lot of jump scares and. A lot of things that you
- 1:06:24wouldn't expect. Jump scares.
- 1:06:25A lot of things you wouldn't expect unpredictability.
- 1:06:27I don't want it to. Feel like, yeah, Oh yeah, my
- 1:06:29ears can predict what comes next.
- 1:06:31Like I wanted to. I also want to keep people's
- 1:06:33attention, you know, that's good because I wanted to be like, oh
- 1:06:36whoa, what's that little crunchy little Gucci little thing in
- 1:06:38there? What's that and everything?
- 1:06:40There's a lot of little ear candy Nuggets.
- 1:06:42It's so good. And like, they're all catchy
- 1:06:44too. Very intentional.
- 1:06:46Like, honestly, this project is such a work of art.
- 1:06:48And like, as a songwriter, when I listen to music, I tend to do
- 1:06:51this where I start, like, predicting what I'm going to
- 1:06:53hear next. Like, I'm like, OK, here's where
- 1:06:54I think this pre is going to go. Here's where the next lyric I
- 1:06:56think is going to be. But with your project, I was
- 1:06:58like, girl, I got whiplash. Like, it's giving.
- 1:07:01I'm dizzy in the best way, of course. 1000% yeah I completely
- 1:07:06agree. It's like, I love feeling a
- 1:07:08little on the edge of my seat, not knowing what's going to
- 1:07:11happen. I think also, especially in the
- 1:07:13age of AI especially unpredictability is like needed
- 1:07:17like we need. More human 1,000,000% because
- 1:07:20now it feels like it can get into that territory of it just
- 1:07:22like what's even really like authentic here anymore, you know
- 1:07:26what I mean? And that's what's scary about
- 1:07:27the music industry right now too, especially because I think
- 1:07:29there are programs that can create things for you, you know?
- 1:07:32And I want to see real art and I want to hear real stories and I
- 1:07:34want to see, I want to hear real lyrics and like, you know, the
- 1:07:38vocals and the voice and the storytelling and then you're
- 1:07:40bringing that. Thank you.
- 1:07:41Oh. My God, and it's such a good
- 1:07:43evolution from dead flowers too. It is this feels like such an
- 1:07:46upgrade if a million percent. It also feels like really
- 1:07:48confident. I was talking to it is everyone
- 1:07:50about it. I was like wow, in dead flowers
- 1:07:52like you could feel. I was so in in so much pain.
- 1:07:55You felt, you kind of. You sound defeated.
- 1:07:56You definitely sound defeated. Yeah, and.
- 1:07:58I but you reclaim yourself on this new project like even from
- 1:08:02the opening to the closing tracks, which is super
- 1:08:04intentional, right? It's like you hear that
- 1:08:06confidence just immediately open up.
- 1:08:08It's so incredible to watch. It's just a reflection of my
- 1:08:10real life. Like I feel like I've truly came
- 1:08:12home to myself and I'm just like, yes.
- 1:08:14And now we see it. We hear.
- 1:08:15I'm single, I'm happy. I don't need to mingle like I'm
- 1:08:18just single and period. Life.
- 1:08:20You were just here to move a little.
- 1:08:21Yeah, you were here to dance a little.
- 1:08:23Driving. Period.
- 1:08:25Because. Sometimes you need that break,
- 1:08:26you know, because if you just keep rebound, rebound, next,
- 1:08:28next, next, it's like you need a second to meditate.
- 1:08:32That's like the word of the day. You literally DM me this
- 1:08:35yesterday. You're like, you need to pace
- 1:08:36yourself, Ryan. No, Sometimes.
- 1:08:38Got to pace yourself. I see.
- 1:08:40I think that is me. You're so right.
- 1:08:41I didn't even realize that I do. I don't rush things.
- 1:08:45Yes, I don't want to rush. You're so chill.
- 1:08:48Like. No, I need everything
- 1:08:50immediately I. Don't need a microwave dinner.
- 1:08:53Totally. You want like chefs kiss?
- 1:08:56Cook it. Yeah, let it simmer.
- 1:08:58Let's talk about that because you've been working on this new
- 1:09:00project for two years now. You've been doing it over the
- 1:09:02past two years, and now we're ready to go.
- 1:09:05We have the first song which is Move a Little Little.
- 1:09:08Tell us about this project. What can you tease for the
- 1:09:11Heartfelts? What do we got over here?
- 1:09:13I've already heard it. Y'all talking?
- 1:09:15About it. Like they've heard it too.
- 1:09:17We're like, Oh yeah, the first. Year we were so fucking
- 1:09:19annoying. I'm literally.
- 1:09:20Like we haven't. Heard when you do this one thing
- 1:09:23and like what can you tell us? I have not heard it then.
- 1:09:26So it's coming soon, definitely. It's coming this year, it's this
- 1:09:29year. The second single is coming out
- 1:09:32soon. I'm very excited.
- 1:09:34That one is maybe your favorite. That is my favorite one.
- 1:09:37I'm not. I'm not saying nothing about it.
- 1:09:39This is my favorite one. This is what I want out
- 1:09:40immediately. You know what we'll say about
- 1:09:42that one? We'll say that we said the word,
- 1:09:44the title of the song in this interview.
- 1:09:46We did, we did. And you have a good poker face
- 1:09:49girl. You do too.
- 1:09:50You. Can be on our 21 or something
- 1:09:52because I was like we both we both name dropped it during this
- 1:09:55I not even a twitch no reaction nothing.
- 1:09:59I I was like, wait, we got to say that.
- 1:10:01So I did say. The title in this podcast so.
- 1:10:03Maybe I'm excited when the songs out let's revisit and be like.
- 1:10:06Like, oh, they said it. And we knew.
- 1:10:09Yeah, but that second song, Oh my God, the second single is
- 1:10:12insane. It's.
- 1:10:13So good. It truly is like my childhood.
- 1:10:16Dream. Me too.
- 1:10:17Song like, I feel like it's the perfect pop song I've ever made.
- 1:10:20You genuinely, it really is. It takes me back to that exact
- 1:10:22era that I grew up in. And it took me a It was hard to,
- 1:10:25yeah. You mentioned that.
- 1:10:26Like I just really wanted to to continue to revise and to write
- 1:10:32the best. Do you like tweak the song your
- 1:10:34musical on a? Lot.
- 1:10:36So we had the hook and I wrote the hook first.
- 1:10:39I write hooks usually first for everything.
- 1:10:40Because I'm like fighting for my life, not to hum it right now.
- 1:10:42That's how catchy it is. But go ahead fighting for my
- 1:10:45life right now. Go ahead so the.
- 1:10:46Hook. I always write hooks first.
- 1:10:47I don't know why. That's just like my thing.
- 1:10:49So I wrote the hook and then we had the hook for like a year,
- 1:10:53like for. A long time.
- 1:10:54And then you just left it, left it.
- 1:10:56And then one day I was like, wait, pull up that idea, that
- 1:11:00hook idea. And then I was like, can you
- 1:11:02send me that? I need to like write to that.
- 1:11:05So then I was, I wrote some stuff at home.
- 1:11:07Then I brought to the studio. I was like, I don't like it.
- 1:11:09We did the verse 3 times, did the pre three times, like we
- 1:11:13were writing it over and over and over.
- 1:11:14And I was like, no, that's not it.
- 1:11:15That's not it. I don't like that we reproduced
- 1:11:17it many times. We're like, that's not the right
- 1:11:19production. And it like.
- 1:11:20Took, it took a while to really like mold and we were just like
- 1:11:24shaving it off like, OK, wait, that's not actually we need
- 1:11:27more, we need less. It was just a work in progress,
- 1:11:30and then it came out to be exactly the way we heard it in
- 1:11:33our heads when we first. That's the best feeling as an
- 1:11:35artist, I. Was like this is exactly the way
- 1:11:38I heard. It Oh my God, that's the best
- 1:11:39feeling. That's how I feel about Glimpse,
- 1:11:40my song Glimpse. But sometimes you.
- 1:11:43Work on a song too much and then you lose the energy of it.
- 1:11:45You lose the plot, you know, I mean, and so whenever we lose
- 1:11:48the plot, we're like, Nope, let's go back to square 1 and
- 1:11:50like try to that energy back. It really is a perfect pop song
- 1:11:54too. Also guys, I'm so annoying about
- 1:11:58this, but it's so clever and well written.
- 1:12:00Just as a writer when I was, I literally was like, I fucking
- 1:12:02wish I wrote this. I fucking I actually, I quoted a
- 1:12:06lyric in this. You clocked it.
- 1:12:07I I quoted a lyric, my favorite lyric in the song.
- 1:12:10It's so clever. I'm like, I'm actually kicking
- 1:12:12myself. I didn't think of that myself
- 1:12:14because I actually told my producer that lyric.
- 1:12:16He was like, that's genius. I was like, Oh no, that's that's
- 1:12:18not mine. Like we.
- 1:12:18Can't do that. It's not.
- 1:12:19Mine. It's not mine, But isn't it
- 1:12:21good? Oh, thank you.
- 1:12:24Oh my God. That's the biggest compliment
- 1:12:25when someone's like, I wish I wrote it.
- 1:12:27There's so many songs I'm like, I wish.
- 1:12:28Oh my gosh, yeah. I also wish I wrote another song
- 1:12:31on your thing. I'm not going to say it, but I
- 1:12:33love that one. I can't.
- 1:12:35I can't even. Can't even like.
- 1:12:37What I think the opener is, I'm not sure if you change the track
- 1:12:39listing, but yeah, I know the one I always text you randomly.
- 1:12:42Yeah, yes. Love her.
- 1:12:44Sorry I'm so annoying. I love.
- 1:12:45You're going to hear all of it. You'll get it.
- 1:12:46You're going to. Love next era.
- 1:12:47It just feels so special, you know?
- 1:12:49It's like, wow, we're here to to dance, have fun, enjoy life.
- 1:12:54Yeah. Love.
- 1:12:54There's so much love in this EP. There's so much love in these
- 1:12:57songs. It's such a contrast from dead
- 1:12:59flowers, it really is. Genuinely where I feel like dead
- 1:13:01flowers are so much and you still.
- 1:13:03Have moments on this project that really feel so vulnerable
- 1:13:06still, you know, like towards the end and Oh my God and how
- 1:13:09this album, this project closes. Not an album, guys, sorry.
- 1:13:12This project closes. It's like, it's so gorgeous.
- 1:13:15Thank you so good. And then I'll come back for the
- 1:13:17EP obviously and we'll yap and we can talk all about it and.
- 1:13:20We got a single one. You know what I'm?
- 1:13:22Saying so real quick question about this project.
- 1:13:24So would you say move a little is like what a good taste of
- 1:13:27what we can expect with this? 1000% I think it's the perfect
- 1:13:31first starter appetizer for this EP.
- 1:13:34Hell yeah yeah. It's like.
- 1:13:35Guys, we're going to move a little.
- 1:13:37We're moving a little. There's a lot of Move a Little
- 1:13:39moments in here, too. I think Move a Little is just
- 1:13:41the perfect one, but it started that song Move a Little.
- 1:13:44You really take us to the club on this project.
- 1:13:46We do go to the club you'll be taking us.
- 1:13:49So that club, why? Why?
- 1:13:50It's like the club vibe was because after I went to the New
- 1:13:53York Fashion Week boom, then I was like Dionne, we need to go
- 1:13:55back to New York. Me and Dionne, my creative
- 1:13:57partner, we went to New York, had the most craziest night out
- 1:14:02in like it was truly like a movie.
- 1:14:04You were out. I was out.
- 1:14:06Like out Boots. I was we went to this cool punk
- 1:14:12show that I found and it was like, so I love going to little
- 1:14:15shows and like seeing artists. It's so inspired.
- 1:14:17Then we met these random people, went to this dive bar, ate
- 1:14:21pizza. Then we went to this other after
- 1:14:23hours joint. We met these cool waitresses.
- 1:14:25They're like, oh, come with us to this after hours joint at
- 1:14:274:00 AM with waiters and waitresses.
- 1:14:29You just got to look like a waitress.
- 1:14:30I'm like, OK, I'll figure it out.
- 1:14:32We go to this high rise in New York, no clue where I am.
- 1:14:35We just hop in their Uber. They're like come in.
- 1:14:36I'm like, OK, you're. Like fuck it, we're going to
- 1:14:38move a little tonight. Exactly.
- 1:14:39We're in this high rise. It's 4:00 in the morning.
- 1:14:42It was a club like this penthouse turned into a club
- 1:14:46with like tables and and bar service and everything.
- 1:14:48I was like, what? We were there until 7:30 in the
- 1:14:51morning. Oh my God, girl.
- 1:14:52And then we went to the bagel spot that we had the day prior,
- 1:14:55in the same clothes, same clothes, and the guy was.
- 1:14:57Like he clocked. It oh, good morning.
- 1:15:00I was like, no, it's good night. It's good night.
- 1:15:03This is actually our last stop. Yeah, we're.
- 1:15:05We're going to sleep. That is so crazy.
- 1:15:07And that's what like kind of stemmed move a little and we
- 1:15:09went back to LA and Dion already had like most of the song
- 1:15:14written and done. It was insane.
- 1:15:15That's. Like a first time for you too.
- 1:15:16Which is crazy. Usually I'm the one bringing the
- 1:15:18songs in, you know? So it was so cool that he, like,
- 1:15:22he knows me better than anyone else, to be honest.
- 1:15:24And so I was like, dude, this is exactly what I've been yearning
- 1:15:28to make. And then we finished it together
- 1:15:30and it was, it's just a bop. Oh my God.
- 1:15:32Also guys outro. Yeah, that was my last minute
- 1:15:36decision. That was like literally a couple
- 1:15:38months ago. I was like, wait, we need outro.
- 1:15:40The song's too short. Wait a minute, can I tell you
- 1:15:42that? Like honestly, if it didn't have
- 1:15:43it, I would have felt that way too.
- 1:15:44Like as a song, from a songwriting perspective, when I
- 1:15:46listen to it, I'm like it gives the final punch it needs.
- 1:15:49Mm hmm. Jesus, I want it to feel like
- 1:15:50we're drunk and spinning. Oh my God, yes.
- 1:15:52And it gets distorted and it gets like deeper and.
- 1:15:56There's a voice memo of me in the back.
- 1:15:58Wait, I didn't clocked. I didn't clocked that.
- 1:15:59What is it? Yeah.
- 1:16:00I mean, you gotta listen close. It when you're like, you like
- 1:16:03pitch. Your voice.
- 1:16:04I laugh and it goes ha ha ha ha ha ha and then it goes Gen.
- 1:16:09Z turn off D and. DD&D, you did tell me this.
- 1:16:14I said, I said turn all the Gen. ZS, like stop putting D&D on or
- 1:16:18something like that. Like with D&D 'cause I was
- 1:16:20working with this guy, he's a Gen.
- 1:16:21Z, I'm Gen. Z, Gen.
- 1:16:22Z. We love Gen.
- 1:16:23Z. And he just kept having D&D on.
- 1:16:26I was like, bro, I'm trying to call you, I'm trying to text
- 1:16:28you. We're trying to work.
- 1:16:29We're. Trying to work a little a.
- 1:16:30Video We're trying to do stuff like totally dude, turn off D&D,
- 1:16:33bro. Like, I understand D&D at night
- 1:16:35completely, but this is during the day we're working.
- 1:16:38I feel that. Way I hate that trust.
- 1:16:40Me same as these. Oh my God, I love an Easter in
- 1:16:42the sun. You know, I know it's so
- 1:16:44annoying because I'm always trying to work too.
- 1:16:46I'm like, I need you to answer right now.
- 1:16:48I feel like I'm really good when people text me then I'm like.
- 1:16:50Me too. You are really.
- 1:16:51Good. I'm good at it.
- 1:16:52You're. So.
- 1:16:53Fast if I see it, I'm on it like I'll respond because if I don't,
- 1:16:55I'm not going to respond like I'll just it's going to go away.
- 1:16:57You know what I mean? So I told I'm on board with
- 1:17:00that. We love that outro then.
- 1:17:02I love it. OK, that song is so good.
- 1:17:03All of it's so good. We're going to get more into it
- 1:17:05when you drop this project, and it's coming soon as we said.
- 1:17:09But until then, we're streaming. Move a little.
- 1:17:11Y'all watching the music video? Oh yeah, we're doing the move.
- 1:17:13A Little challenge Taylor and I have been doing, yes.
- 1:17:17We have such a cute dance that we've been doing.
- 1:17:19We've been doing it at the bars, We were doing it everywhere.
- 1:17:21Like it's so easy. Fun, I know, I love.
- 1:17:23It I know if you want a little fun, dance with your friends
- 1:17:25into pretty. But it's cute.
- 1:17:27Move a little. It's a perfect pregame.
- 1:17:29It's a perfect pregame. Oh my God, I want to go out
- 1:17:30again. We got to go out again.
- 1:17:32We do. We were celebrating the release
- 1:17:33and move a little girl. That was we.
- 1:17:35Had a night. It was a night she met scene in
- 1:17:36the club. It was we were lit girl.
- 1:17:39I was ready to go home and then some guy approaches us and then
- 1:17:42you're like where? And I was like oh I'm going home
- 1:17:44because he was like where y'all going after this?
- 1:17:46And I was like I'm going home and you're like do you have
- 1:17:48something else? And I was like, bitch, I'm going
- 1:17:50home. No, we weren't going up.
- 1:17:53I mean, I I wasn't going to go out with more.
- 1:17:55I was done. I was done.
- 1:17:57I was trying to help him. Did I think of what places I
- 1:18:00could tell him? Because he was asking like, oh,
- 1:18:02what are some other after hour joints?
- 1:18:03And I was like, I don't know. Girl, my my house as in like,
- 1:18:07we're going to bed, we're going to bed, we're going to bed.
- 1:18:09OK Taylor, you have given me such good fucking advice just as
- 1:18:12a friend of like everything with me leaning into making music and
- 1:18:15everything. But now we're going to see how
- 1:18:16good how good you are at advice for the.
- 1:18:19Besties. Oh, I love it.
- 1:18:20OK. Cool.
- 1:18:20OK, so this is our segment, WWADGD.
- 1:18:23What did the Lulu girl do? Some besties have submitted some
- 1:18:25questions and they want our Dulu advice on it, What we think they
- 1:18:29should do. You're ready.
- 1:18:29I'm so ready. Do you think you're good at
- 1:18:31advice? I I think you're good.
- 1:18:34At I think you're good at advice I.
- 1:18:35Appreciate. It I think I'm kind of bad at it
- 1:18:37because I'm kind of messy and reckless, you know, but.
- 1:18:40Like you are a little messy but like I like it.
- 1:18:42I'm messy boots. Oh, I'm messy boots.
- 1:18:44You you know, it's all for the plot we're.
- 1:18:47Going to get into some questions.
- 1:18:48OK so here's our first one from Anonymous bestie.
- 1:18:51So I very obviously like my boyfriend more than he likes me
- 1:18:54and he doesn't really match my energy.
- 1:18:56What should I do? What do you think?
- 1:18:58Bye OOP, break up boots. Break up boots.
- 1:19:01I don't know. I don't like when people can't
- 1:19:03match your energy. I think.
- 1:19:04That's OK. Wait, I take it back.
- 1:19:06I think if you're opposites, that's fine.
- 1:19:09Like if he's like super chill and introverted and you're like
- 1:19:13extroverted crazy, you know, I feel like there is a, a balance
- 1:19:17to that where it's like, yeah, you're like he's keeping you
- 1:19:20calm. He's like chill and you're a
- 1:19:21little crazy. It's 'cause.
- 1:19:22He like communicating that he really does care about you, like
- 1:19:24you know what I mean? I don't have nonchalant people.
- 1:19:26Exactly. I don't like when people are
- 1:19:27nonchalant. I don't.
- 1:19:28I'm not nonchalant. I hate nonchalant.
- 1:19:30I hate. I'm chalant as fuck yeah y'all
- 1:19:33like literally it reflects in my music.
- 1:19:35I'm so chalant. 1000% yes. Yeah, yeah, I can't do
- 1:19:37nonchalant. I hate that so much.
- 1:19:38I. Don't like that I don't jail.
- 1:19:40The whole lack of effort is cool.
- 1:19:42No, that's so lame to me. I think that's so lame.
- 1:19:44And so just be upfront, like tell me how you feel.
- 1:19:47Right. Die for.
- 1:19:48Me, I used to be with guys that just never complimented people
- 1:19:51or me and I was just like, why? Compliments are free.
- 1:19:54I love company so fun like I don't.
- 1:19:57Know and it's. Authentic.
- 1:19:58It's like it's a thought in my head.
- 1:19:59Why not say? It just say it.
- 1:20:01That's interesting. Well, you dated guys who
- 1:20:03wouldn't compliment you. Like, would you say your love
- 1:20:04language is like words of affirmation?
- 1:20:05What do you think? Acts of Service.
- 1:20:07Me too. Oh my God, yes, me too.
- 1:20:10That's my number one thing. Number one, like if someone does
- 1:20:13something for me without me telling them like Oh my.
- 1:20:15God, I've Zeta's so many men who have just like done an action
- 1:20:17for me just because they did. I'm like, oh wait, I think I'm
- 1:20:18in love with you. I just, I love it.
- 1:20:20I don't know. I'm also so psychotic about men.
- 1:20:23I don't even want to get into it.
- 1:20:25I would say honestly, it really depends.
- 1:20:27No, I think for her, if yeah, it depends on I don't like someone
- 1:20:32not liking me as much as I do. I think that's.
- 1:20:35Weird, I would prefer if my boyfriend liked me more than I
- 1:20:37like. Him I agree.
- 1:20:38I'm like it should be. You should be obsessed with me
- 1:20:41like I should be a little concerned, I think.
- 1:20:43I don't like obsession. I've had some weirdos.
- 1:20:44Really. No way.
- 1:20:47I don't. Want someone obsessed because
- 1:20:48then it's like scary. It's like, I want someone to be
- 1:20:51like, healthily. I don't think I've had partners
- 1:20:55who are like obsessed with me like that, but I've definitely
- 1:20:57have friends who are like crazy obsessed with me and it is
- 1:21:00scary. It's a little I don't like when
- 1:21:02it's like, oh, I need you in my life or I'm going to die like.
- 1:21:05Oh, wait, I kind of like that a little bit.
- 1:21:07Yeah. Die for me.
- 1:21:08Tell me that. Yeah, I like it.
- 1:21:10I like it when they're like, I can't dream.
- 1:21:12Of you suffocating sometimes. Interesting.
- 1:21:14OK. I mean, I believe you and I'm
- 1:21:17like. OK, like you, you be you.
- 1:21:18You're. Like you, be you.
- 1:21:20Girl, but I think yeah, if you can't match the energy, just
- 1:21:22it's up to your decision, you know, stick with your.
- 1:21:25Gut TTTTI think like honestly, like I would need them to be
- 1:21:29like a little more obsessed with me.
- 1:21:30I've been in I'm honestly, I feel like I'm always super
- 1:21:33obsessed with this wolf of a man Like yes, like crazy obsessed.
- 1:21:38I was going to say I was like, you're not surprised.
- 1:21:42You're not surprised. You'll hear guys.
- 1:21:45You'll hear album coming out next year.
- 1:21:47OK, here's our next one from another anonymous bestie.
- 1:21:49So is it a red flag if he wants to find a relationship?
- 1:21:52He doesn't want me seeing other people.
- 1:21:55Is he seeing other people? What?
- 1:21:57What do you think? Red flag.
- 1:21:58Biggest red flag You think? 1 sided like what?
- 1:22:01Damn, I'm dumb as hell. I'd be like, yes, I wouldn't.
- 1:22:04No, I hate situation ships. I think it's.
- 1:22:07So dumb. It's like pick a side.
- 1:22:10Man, pick a side. Yes, just commit.
- 1:22:11In or out different way. Let's go a. 100%.
- 1:22:14It's like pick something I don't like being like in limbo or I'm
- 1:22:18just a choice or like second choice.
- 1:22:20Such a bad feeling. Like no, that's such bullshit.
- 1:22:23I think go in, go all in and it's like just do it.
- 1:22:25And if you're not discussing be like, you know what, we're not
- 1:22:28ready to settle down. And you also don't want to, you
- 1:22:30know, also don't want to like be in a relationship like that's
- 1:22:32chill. Tea.
- 1:22:33But if you're communicating, if you're just.
- 1:22:34Dating meaning like casually dating tea you can be with other
- 1:22:38people that's called casually dating if you're dating dating
- 1:22:41like oh we are in a relationship you don't date other people.
- 1:22:44Right, you have to define it. You really have to define it.
- 1:22:47You also you can't have a guy casually date and then a girl be
- 1:22:49locked in like doesn't make sense.
- 1:22:50That's such bullshit, I really hate that.
- 1:22:52I think it's so stupid I. Think it's dumb that is dumb OK,
- 1:22:55honestly, yes red flag. I would say run because then if
- 1:22:59they're controlling like that already, you got to clock the
- 1:23:02you got to clock those red flags early because like, trust me, it
- 1:23:04doesn't get better. And I hate to say that, but when
- 1:23:06it comes to like men or like relationships or situations like
- 1:23:09this, it's like they'll show you pretty early and you'll think
- 1:23:13like, Oh no, But then when we're like, did it, No, no, they'll
- 1:23:16show you. Don't create a fantasy in your
- 1:23:17head. Oh God, I'm so guilty of doing
- 1:23:19that. I do that all the time.
- 1:23:21Because I think we are such creative people.
- 1:23:23We like to create a whole world. We're like, they could be so
- 1:23:26good. It's like, no.
- 1:23:27They aren't fucking no. Literally in my head I'm like,
- 1:23:29Oh my God, we're going to be pop stores together, We're going to
- 1:23:31do this together and we're going to go on tour together.
- 1:23:33And it's like, girl, let's get a text back.
- 1:23:36Let's get that first. OK, so here's another one.
- 1:23:40I'm kind of an intense crazy person and I just got into a new
- 1:23:42relationship. Should I repress my craziness or
- 1:23:45just fully be myself? I don't want to scare him off.
- 1:23:49Go crazy. Go crazy, boots.
- 1:23:52Crazy boots. I agree like I love.
- 1:23:55Yes. Show all your cards, put them
- 1:23:57all. Out.
- 1:23:58Yes, literally. I so agree.
- 1:23:59On the first day I once brought a crystal for the guy.
- 1:24:02I wanted to see how they would react to crystals because some
- 1:24:04guys are so weird with crystals. Like my ex hated crystals and
- 1:24:08was such a judgmental person on that.
- 1:24:09You're kidding. So I was like I'm going to bring
- 1:24:11a crystal. I'm going to give him a crystal
- 1:24:12as a gift when I go on a date. I've given my men crystals and
- 1:24:16he was chill. I was like OK cool you one
- 1:24:18point. There you go.
- 1:24:19I love giving men like rose quartz and shit and being.
- 1:24:21Yeah, they need it. They need it.
- 1:24:23They need some. Doesn't even work by the way,
- 1:24:25but whatever, they can have it I guess.
- 1:24:28Yeah, I love going full sun crazy.
- 1:24:30I think go show it all. Go crazy, I love that.
- 1:24:33I think it's good it's going to come out.
- 1:24:35Somehow, that's what I'm saying. I'm just like, listen, I'm not
- 1:24:37trying to lock you in like 6 months and then like show you
- 1:24:40that I'm a crazy Daisy. It's like, let me just be crazy
- 1:24:41now. And if you don't fuck with it,
- 1:24:42then at least I know. Yeah, Then at least I know.
- 1:24:45OK? I agree with you.
- 1:24:46I agree. OK.
- 1:24:47Crazy. So go crazy.
- 1:24:50Go crazy, anonymous bestie. All right, Well, thank you so
- 1:24:54much, Taylor, for your advice on that.
- 1:24:56So I wanted to ask you, what is your most delulu take?
- 1:24:59It could be funny, silly, controversial, serious.
- 1:25:02What do you think? What's the most delusional thing
- 1:25:03about you? Oh, OK, I think my mind.
- 1:25:06I think my delulu thing. I think my one.
- 1:25:10Of my most delusional things is that like every vision that you
- 1:25:12receive OK is already a reality that exists, right?
- 1:25:18And it's like you receive that vision for a reason and it's
- 1:25:20like T it's like when you watch a movie and you see the ending
- 1:25:23first, like a premonition type thing.
- 1:25:24Yeah. It's like, oh, you already know
- 1:25:25what's going to happen. You just have to like work.
- 1:25:28To get there. That's what I.
- 1:25:29Love about manifestation because it's like me too.
- 1:25:31You are it re exists. You know the.
- 1:25:33Outcome and you have to just release the how?
- 1:25:35And just be. And just.
- 1:25:36Yes, it's going to. Happen and just continue to like
- 1:25:38work. It's manifestation with work
- 1:25:40ethic, you know, 100% aligned action.
- 1:25:43It's like you already know you're manifesting this or
- 1:25:44exist. You're going to have it.
- 1:25:45You're going to make it happen now.
- 1:25:47Put the work into it. Put that fruit into it.
- 1:25:49Meet the universe in the middle. That's what I always say.
- 1:25:51I think my Dalulu thing is I always manifest a parking spot.
- 1:25:54Oh my God, always. Same.
- 1:25:56I'm like, I am going to have a spot right up front.
- 1:25:58I see it. I visionize.
- 1:25:59I vision it. I'm like, Yep, open spot, wait,
- 1:26:01Oh my God, no one's ever said that before.
- 1:26:03I literally do that all the time.
- 1:26:04I do it. I do it all the time.
- 1:26:05Literally I'll. Be out with Brett and then we'll
- 1:26:06like get to the location and I'll be like.
- 1:26:08Lucky girl syndrome activate. And I'll be like, watch, we're
- 1:26:10going to find parking right now and we have parking and we find
- 1:26:13parking in the front and we find parking.
- 1:26:15It always works. That's my trick guys.
- 1:26:16If you're looking for parking, if you live in LA, you need
- 1:26:18this. If you're looking for parking,
- 1:26:20activate your lucky girl syndrome.
- 1:26:21I just claim it out loud. You'll find parking it.
- 1:26:23It pretty much always works for me.
- 1:26:25I'm a lucky girl. I'll be like I get period the
- 1:26:26front spot. Exactly.
- 1:26:28Easy, easy. Peasy parking, no parking ticks,
- 1:26:31no towing. Exactly.
- 1:26:32Oh yeah. If I'm ever worried about it I
- 1:26:33put like a orb around my car and I'm like, no.
- 1:26:36No tickets, nothing. Oh, you're Woo.
- 1:26:38Woo. I am woo.
- 1:26:40Oh no girl, no orb. On my car, but maybe I'm.
- 1:26:43Gonna start doing that. I'm gonna be like, yeah, my
- 1:26:45car's safe, Little. Protection bubble.
- 1:26:47OK, I love that. I think my most delulent.
- 1:26:49Take is I buy groceries and I think I'm going to cook and I
- 1:26:54never I just DoorDash like every day never happens right?
- 1:26:58I'm just like, bro, I'll go and get the groceries and I'm like,
- 1:27:00OK, this week I'm going to like make this.
- 1:27:02And then it rots in my fridge. Yep, literally rots in my
- 1:27:05fridge. Yep, that's what's going on in
- 1:27:06my fridge right now. Literally same.
- 1:27:08Like yeah, like should I order to air 1?
- 1:27:11Like I should have just. Thor dashed this shit like damn
- 1:27:13it. Exactly.
- 1:27:15Oh God, we need help, girl air. One that's so LA.
- 1:27:17Wait, how old? I love Air LA.
- 1:27:19Do you feel because you've been here a couple years now?
- 1:27:23I don't know. I think I'm.
- 1:27:25I think. I'm hella LA.
- 1:27:26You do love Air 1. You know, I just watched I love
- 1:27:29LA. The show, yes, I wish they'd
- 1:27:30cast me. Next one next season, please, I.
- 1:27:34Think like it, kind of. Allowed me to romanticize it a
- 1:27:36little more. I was like, wait, I.
- 1:27:38Live here this is. Crazy like Oh my God, I've been
- 1:27:39watching now I need to go to more cafes and I need to.
- 1:27:41That's our thought when I need to be more of an LA piece of
- 1:27:43shit. You know, yeah, totally.
- 1:27:44Because I feel like I'm not. I'm.
- 1:27:46Such a like hermit. I'm just like in my apartment.
- 1:27:49You're so deceiving because I heard move a little when I met
- 1:27:52you and I was like, oh, she's going to.
- 1:27:53Be down and go out. You have gone out like a
- 1:27:56singular time with me since and I met you like a couple months
- 1:27:59ago because move a little is really like, oh, go out.
- 1:28:02Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, when I go out, I go out.
- 1:28:04It's just like. It's just when I drink and
- 1:28:06stuff, it makes me lose my voice and I always have to sing and I
- 1:28:08always have to dance and you know, stay healthy and stuff.
- 1:28:11So I'm like, I designate times like to go out and go hard.
- 1:28:15Literally I lose my voice. It's the worst.
- 1:28:17Oh my God, alcohol dries me out so bad.
- 1:28:19I literally. Woke up with no voice today and
- 1:28:20I was freaking. Out and I texted Brad.
- 1:28:22I was like, uh oh. And I was like, we can't cancel.
- 1:28:23What's in two hours like? And he was like, oh, come back,
- 1:28:26Oh, come back. Oh, come back.
- 1:28:27I'm like, I texted Amina and I was like, I was like, girl, I
- 1:28:29woke up feeling like shit. I was like, and she was like, do
- 1:28:31you want to cancel? Like I'll see you What's set,
- 1:28:33because I was like, we can. We had this plan.
- 1:28:36The honey baby. That's right.
- 1:28:39You put me on you. Put me on the.
- 1:28:41Best. Okay, well.

- 1:28:47fucking love this project. You'll you'll all get it when
- 1:28:49it's out, but we close out every show by manifesting together.
- 1:28:53Oh yes, what do you want to speak into existence right now
- 1:28:55here on Delulu And I will say a lot of.
- 1:28:57Delulu. Alum end up massively, wildly
- 1:29:00successful. Like it's kind of I will take
- 1:29:02credit for it because the energy you create 100% they manifested
- 1:29:05here and it happens. Yeah, you created the space.
- 1:29:07So period. OK, this is going to happen
- 1:29:10manifesting. Ready.

- 1:29:34That's my favorite thing to do. I love being in the studio, but
- 1:29:36performing and being live and really singing live and and
- 1:29:38seeing like my music affect people in person and like
- 1:29:41singing the lyrics back at you, Like, yeah, that's going to be
- 1:29:44me at your shows. By the way, she just had a show
- 1:29:46in New York and I couldn't make it.

- 1:30:07We got more shows releasing. This EP and it just like it.
- 1:30:12Transcending and and being able to like reach the ears that are
- 1:30:15supposed to hear it, you know, and to like really help as many
- 1:30:18people as possible, you know, and just like send love.
- 1:30:21We didn't need like love to just spread all over the earth.
- 1:30:24I love it. That's all I wanted to do.
- 1:30:26This is such a loving project genuinely too.
- 1:30:27It feels so like full of love, you know, it feels.
- 1:30:29Very healed and evolved, especially coming from like.
- 1:30:32Your previous project which? Was a lot obviously like more
- 1:30:35melancholy and like darker but I felt like this really is a love
- 1:30:39letter to my younger self though.
- 1:30:40It's like me learning. To love myself through making
- 1:30:42it. You know, that's such a good
- 1:30:44quote for like an article and like for us, we're actually
- 1:30:46going to use it for this I. Love it, Yeah, but I think those
- 1:30:50are the big one touring. Manifesting the music and just
- 1:30:53like lots of health and happiness yes for.
