- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Reading Your Own Life with Swami Larry.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: And season one is Money Can Buy Happiness.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: This is episode six.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Do you believe you deserve wealth?
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And once again, it's the question again: do you believe you deserve wealth?
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I don't mean not just wanting it, deserving it.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I answer honestly with a simple yes or no.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Notice what arises in your chest.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: And as you ask this, is there a knot of guilt or whisper of, not for me?
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I want you to pay attention to that.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: This is a worthiness question, not a wish list.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Most people want greater financial stability, but many doubt they deserve it.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: That doubt sabotages decisions.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: When you don't believe you deserve abundance, it shapes everything.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Saving feels pointless.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Spending feels uncomfortable and guilty.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Earning may even feel impossible.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: That's why worthiness is not abstract, it's practical.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: The nervous system won't allow you to keep what it believes you shouldn't have.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Healing begins when you challenge that old instruction manual.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Money blocks are not stone walls.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: They are Jenga pieces.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Temporary, removable, and waiting to be lifted out so the whole false structure can fall.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So imagine playing a game of Jenga, building the structure up, then removing the pieces one by one until it falls there are so many money blocks, and they are all personal.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: So notice what resonates with you first.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Let's start with the biggest one.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: I don't deserve wealth.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Who decides who deserves wealth and who doesn't?
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Well, ultimately we do.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Allow the feeling to be there for just a moment.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: See what might come up for you.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: It might stem from childhood.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: It could be, did your parents hold the belief that money wasn't for people like them?
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: It could be the ancestral blockage in your lineage that you are not aware of that we've been talking about.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: You see, we don't need to know where it comes from.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: We sometimes just need to focus on finding the root of a belief that we forgot.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: So imagine clearing this block not by knowing its origin, but by recognizing that it no longer serves you.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: No one but you gets to decide whether you deserve wealth.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: So let me give you another block.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: I have no control over my finances.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Telling yourself or others that you have no control over your finances is essentially giving yourself no control over them at all.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Every step begins with belief.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: And these are the blocks of belief that we're talking about.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Most of these blocks keep you safe, but they also keep you stuck.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: We all have some element of control over our finances.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Here's another example.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Your electric bill comes in, and it may be high.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: You might notice your body react with fear when you open it and see the amount.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: And that's okay.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: That's normal.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: But instead of stuffing it back in the envelope, look at the amount and say, thank you for giving me light and keeping me warm in the winter or cool in the summer.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Now, you may not solve how you feel immediately, but shifting the feeling helps restore a sense of control.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: Another block may be you have to work harder to make money.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: Now, this is the belief that often comes from ancestral lineage or childhood conditioning.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: The belief is simple.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: To make money, you must work yourself to the bone.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not going to pretend that you don't have to work at all.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Can't sit back in your comfortable chair and expect riches to just be manifested and flow into your life.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: But instead, you can make informed decisions about work and identify more innovative ways to increase your income.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: So what if we could all make more money by working differently instead of harder?
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: One more to think about.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Money will always run out.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Money comes in and then it leaves.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: We panic and try to hoard it so it doesn't run out.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Or we fall into debt trying to keep it on hand.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: This is a crucial point.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Money is energy.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: We've said it this whole season.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And the fear of it running out does not come from money itself.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: When you release the belief that money will always run out, your relationship with money will begin to change.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Now, underneath every one of these blocks is the same question.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: What are you actually worth?
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: It has been said many times that everything in life has a price tag.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Price tags help us evaluate whether an item is worth what we are willing to pay.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: But does our self-worth have a price tag?
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: In a world where nearly everything is assigned a price, it's tempting to view our worth in the same way.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: We compare ourselves to others or seek validation in achievements and possessions.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: But what if we asked a deeper question?
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: What is my actual value as a human being?
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: And how can I deepen it at a soul level?
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: The market can price a coat, but not your courage.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Society often encourages us to define ourselves by measurable factors, such as income, career, possessions, or many times physical appearance.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: While others often validate these externally visible markers, they in no way capture our true identity.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: We need to return our attention to the qualities essential to our deeper values, such as kindness, integrity, empathy, and resilience.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: Consider the concept of a product's price tag.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: It's easy to see the external label showing its monetary value, but it doesn't tell you the whole story, its worth, its history, or its significance.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: In a similar way, when we view ourselves through external achievements or standards, we limit our understanding of who we are.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Our true worth can never be measured by what we have or do, but by the unique qualities we bring to the world.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: Self-worth at a soul level refers to a deep understanding of our unique value as individuals.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: It is the belief that we are inherently valuable, regardless of what we accomplish or own.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: True self-worth comes from within and is not dependent on others' opinions or validation.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Validation is applause.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Self-worth is breath.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Applause ends.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: Breath continues.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Self-worth on a soul level is not automatic.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Just as physical health requires exercise, rest, and nourishment, our soul level, our self-worth requires maintenance and care.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Ancestrally speaking, our sense of self-worth is often shaped by beliefs we picked up from childhood.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Some of the beliefs we may have picked up can be limiting, such as, I'm only valuable if I'm successful, or I need to please others to be worthy.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Even if these messages were well-intentioned, they can still undermine our confidence and sense of value.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: So you must ask yourself, where did this belief come from?
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Does it serve me?
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Is this belief holding me back?
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: By asking ourselves these questions, we begin replacing limiting beliefs with affirming ones, such as, I am valuable just as I am.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: We will all make mistakes, face setbacks, and struggle.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: This is part of the human experience, but when we begin to attach our self-worth to perfection or constant success, we begin to lay the foundation for self-disappointment.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: I'm sure we show great kindness and compassion to our family and friends when they have setbacks.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: So why wouldn't we extend the same care and understanding to ourselves?
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: I am not my last outcome.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: I am not my next aligned action.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: Those are real and tangible.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: But life will always place price tags on external achievements.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: But our soul level worth reshapes how we understand monetary value.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: Imagine you feel deserving of money.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: How does that feel?
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: To feel worthy of more and able to ask for more without shame.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: You deserve wealth, and a part of the work is allowing yourself to believe it.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: So here's something to try this week.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Take one money block, the one that resonates with you most, and write it down on a piece of paper.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Journal how it makes you feel.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Try to feel the emotion, whatever it is, fear, worry, anger, then tear the paper up, or burn it safely, if you prefer.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: When it's gone, say, I can make more money, no problem.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Or whatever affirmation flips your block around.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: You may need to repeat this a few times before it feels believable, but it's a powerful way for you to signal your intention to release these blocks.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Once you've done that, take a breath.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Inhale and say, I have value.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: Exhale.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: I live it.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: Now carry that into how you earn, spend, save, and give.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Your money follows your worth, not the other way around.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: No one but you gets to decide whether you deserve wealth.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Thank you for being here today.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Join us next week for episode seven Can Money and Love Live in the Same House?
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Until next time, I'm Swami Larry.
