- 0:00Leviticus chapter 14. Let us pray.
- 0:04We thank you God for waking us up.
- 0:06We thank you for your holy written word, the Logos and the
- 0:10Ramos. Thank you God, it is alive and
- 0:12active and it is reading us. It is discerning us.
- 0:16We hide it in our hearts, Lord, let it purify us.
- 0:22Let it wash over us. Lord, let us meditate upon it to
- 0:29be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
- 0:33Thank you God for making us holy unto you.
- 0:37Thank you God for helping us or increase our faith, or increase
- 0:44our love, or we believe. Help our unbelief.
- 0:48Father, you are holy and righteous and worthy to be
- 0:53praised. We love you.
- 0:54King Jesus, send your holy name that I pray.
- 0:58Amen. We'll start in verse one.
- 1:03And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, 2 This shall be the law
- 1:07of the leper. In the day of his cleansing.
- 1:10He shall be brought unto the priest. 3 And the priest shall
- 1:13go forth out of the camp, and the priest shall look, and
- 1:17behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper.
- 1:20So here's what you're going to need to know in this chapter is
- 1:24that God is a God of restoration and reconciliation, and God
- 1:28doesn't want us to stay out there.
- 1:30He leaves the 99, He comes and he finds the one, and there's
- 1:35more rejoicing in heaven over 1 Sinner who sees his need for
- 1:39repentance than for the 99 who need no repentance.
- 1:44And that is what is outlined here is that God wanted to
- 1:47restore these cleansed lepers back unto the tent, back unto
- 1:54the place where they could come into fellowship.
- 1:57Verse 4 Then shall the priest command to take for him that is
- 2:01to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood and
- 2:05scarlet and hyssop. So here's what you're going to
- 2:08need to know is that this bird is tied to the cedar board with
- 2:14a scarlet thread and it is to mimic a paintbrush.
- 2:18The tail of the bird that is alive is hanging off of the
- 2:22board just like a paintbrush would. 5 And the priests shall
- 2:26command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over
- 2:30running water. So one of the birds had to die,
- 2:34but the other bird was a scape bird to be let go, to signify
- 2:40the release from our uncleanliness. 6 As for the
- 2:45living bird, he shall take it the cedar wood and the scarlet,
- 2:49and the hyssop, and shall dip them in the living bird, in the
- 2:53blood of the bird that was killed over the running water. 7
- 2:57And he shall sprinkle it upon him that is to be cleansed from
- 3:00the leprosy 7 times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall
- 3:05let the living bird loose into the open field.
- 3:08Can you see it, friends, the blood sprinkled upon the leper?
- 3:13And this is Speaking of the blood of Jesus. 8 And he that is
- 3:18to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, shave off all his hair,
- 3:22wash himself in water, that he may be clean.
- 3:25And after that he shall come into the camp, as shall tarry a
- 3:29broad out of his tent seven days.
- 3:31So now, now he's gone from being outside the camp, Now he's being
- 3:36invited back into the camp, and he is to walk around and to be a
- 3:41spectacle unto all the people there to watch him.
- 3:45But he's in this community now. 9 But it shall be on the 7th day
- 3:54that he shall shave all his hair off his head, his beard and his
- 4:00eyebrows. Even all his hair he shall shave
- 4:05off, he shall wash his clothes also he shall wash his flesh in
- 4:10water and he shall be clean. So he looked like a newborn baby
- 4:14coming out of the womb. And if any man is in Christ,
- 4:17he's a new creation. That is what is signified here.
- 4:22He is to look as if he's brand new, coming back into the camp.
- 4:3010 And on the 8th day he shall take two he lambs without
- 4:35blemish, and one female lamb of the first year without blemish,
- 4:39and three tense deals of fine flour for a meat offering
- 4:43mingled with oil and one log of oil.
- 4:46So this is a massive ceremony to bring this man back in to holy
- 4:51habitation with God Almighty and with all the people there in the
- 4:55camp. 11 The priest shall make him clean, and shall, he shall
- 5:00present the man that is to be made clean in those things
- 5:03before the Lord at the door of the Tabernacle of the
- 5:06congregation. So he's coming closer and closer
- 5:10and closer. He was outside the camp, then he
- 5:12got to come into the camp. Now he's at the door of the tent
- 5:16of meeting the holy habitation of God. 12 And the priest shall
- 5:20take one male lamb and offer him for a trespass offering and the
- 5:25log of oil and wave them for a wave offering before the Lord.
- 5:29So we know that this wave offering, friends, he was to
- 5:33take it and to wave it before God, signaling that this man was
- 5:37clean now and we can be clean. 13 And he shall slay the Lamb in
- 5:42the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt
- 5:45offering in the holy place. For as the sin offering is the
- 5:49priest, so is the trespass offering.
- 5:51It is most holy, and Jesus is most holy, and Jesus is the only
- 5:56begotten Son. And whoever will place their
- 5:59faith in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. 14
- 6:03And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass
- 6:06offering, and the priest shall put it up upon the tip of the
- 6:08right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of
- 6:12his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot.
- 6:15So here you can see the blood of the lamb being sprinkled upon
- 6:18this leper and being made clean. And that's what happened to you,
- 6:21and that's what happened to me. He took care of our sin.
- 6:24Debt never had to have to be repaid again.
- 6:28It's paid in full. It is finished to Telesty
- 6:31Friends. 15 And the priest shall take some of the log of the oil
- 6:36and pour it into the palm of his own left hand.
- 6:39And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil, and in
- 6:42his left hand he shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger 7
- 6:46times before the Lord. So here you're seeing the blood
- 6:49of the Lamb, You're also seeing the typology in the shadow of
- 6:54what is the Holy Spirit here. And that is how we know that.
- 6:58We know that we're going to bust heaven wide open because of the
- 7:01down payment of the Holy Spirit. The conviction that we possess
- 7:05friends is proof that the Holy Spirit lives within us.
- 7:09Friends, if you have no conviction for sins, you need to
- 7:12check yourself before you wreck yourself. 17 And the rest of the
- 7:16oil that it is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of
- 7:19the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb
- 7:23of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot,
- 7:26upon the blood of the trespass offering?
- 7:28Eighteen. In the remnant of the oil that
- 7:30is in the priest's hand, she shall pour upon the head of him
- 7:33that is to be cleansed, and the priest shall make an atonement
- 7:37for him before the Lord. Can you see this oil running
- 7:40down the head of this previous leper?
- 7:44Not only does he have blood, but he has oil on him.
- 7:46Can you see the scene? This is so far removed from
- 7:50cultural Christianity we cannot even fathom what this scene
- 7:54would have looked like and smelled like.
- 7:56Friends, you cannot even fathom the gore, friends, and that's
- 7:59what we need. We need to see Jesus upon the
- 8:04cross, with the crown of thorns pressed into his head, the blood
- 8:08running down. Friends, you need to understand
- 8:11the sacrifice that was made for you from an innocent man who did
- 8:15nothing wrong. 19 And the priest shall offer the sin offering and
- 8:20make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his
- 8:23uncleanliness, and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering.
- 8:2720 And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat
- 8:31offering upon the altar, and the priest shall make an atonement
- 8:35for him, and he shall be clean. 21 And if he be poor and cannot
- 8:39get so much, then he shall take one lamb for a trespass offering
- 8:43to be waived to make an atonement for him.
- 8:46And 110th deal a fine flour mingled with oil and meat
- 8:51offering, and a log of oil. 22 And 2 Turtle doves are two young
- 9:06pigeons such as he is able to get, and the one shall be a sin
- 9:09offering, and the other a burnt offering. 23 And he shall bring
- 9:13them on the 8th day for his cleansing unto the priests, unto
- 9:17the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation before the
- 9:20Lord. 24 And the priest shall take the lamb of the trespass
- 9:23offering and the the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them
- 9:27for a wave offering before the Lord. 25 And he shall kill the
- 9:31lamb of the trespass offering. And the priest shall take some
- 9:34of the blood of the trespass offering, and put it upon the
- 9:36tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the
- 9:40thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right
- 9:43foot. And the priest shall pour of the
- 9:45oil of the palm of his own left hand. 27 The priest shall
- 9:49sprinkle with the right finger some of the oil that is in the
- 9:52left hand 7 times before the Lord. 28 And the pre shuffle of
- 9:56the oil that is in the hand upon the tip of the right ear, and
- 10:00upon that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right
- 10:03hand, and upon the great toe of his right, but upon the place of
- 10:06the blood of the trespass offering.
- 10:08Can you see it, friends? This blood and this oil mixed
- 10:12and placed on the ear and placed on the thumb and placed on the
- 10:16big toe. And this was for him to know
- 10:19that he is not the same. He has been cleansed and he is
- 10:22different, and he is to be different, and he's to walk
- 10:25different and he's to do differently, friends.
- 10:27He's to hear differently. He's not to be outside the camp.
- 10:30Come into the camp, be restored, friends. 29 And the rest of the
- 10:36oil that is in the priest hands he shall put up on the head of
- 10:39him that is to be cleansed, to make an atonement for him before
- 10:42the Lord. 30 And he shall offer one of the turtle doves, or of
- 10:46the young pigeons, such as he can get. 31 even such as he is
- 10:50able to get the one for a sin offering and the other for a
- 10:54burnt offering in the meat offering in the priest, shall
- 10:56making it at one meant for him that is to be cleansed before
- 11:00the Lord. 32 This is the law of him, and whom the plague of
- 11:04leprosy, whose hand is not able to get that which pertains to
- 11:08his cleansing. 33 And the Lord spoke unto Moses and Aaron,
- 11:12saying, 34 When you come into the land of Canaan, which I give
- 11:16to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a
- 11:19House of the land of your possession. 35 And he that owns
- 11:24the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, It seems to
- 11:28me that there is as it were a plague in the house. 36 Then the
- 11:33priest shall command the they empty the house before the
- 11:36priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the
- 11:40house be not made unclean. And afterward the priest shall
- 11:43go in to see the house. 37 And if he shall look upon the
- 11:46plague, and behold, if the plague be in the walls of the
- 11:49house, with hollow strikes, greenish or reddish, which in
- 11:53the side or lower then the wall, then the 38 then the priest
- 11:58shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and shut up
- 12:01the house 7 days. 39 And the priest shall come again the 7th
- 12:06day, and shall look and behold if the plague be spread in the
- 12:09walls of the house. For then the priest shall
- 12:11command that they take away the stones in which the plague is,
- 12:15and they shall cast them into an unclean place outside the city.
- 12:19Can you see the whole scene, friends?
- 12:21Can you see that there's mildew or mold, There's some kind of
- 12:26blight within the house? And they go to tell the priests,
- 12:30and the priests were to come and they were to inspect it.
- 12:32They were to get everybody else so that nobody would die and get
- 12:35sick and spread around. And then after seven days go in
- 12:39and look. And if it was just isolated onto
- 12:421 area, they were to take that area out, friends. 41 And he
- 12:51shall cause the house to be scraped within round and about,
- 12:55and they shall pour out the dust that they scrape off outside the
- 12:59city in an unclean place. 42 And they shall take other stones,
- 13:03and put them in the place of these stones.
- 13:05And he shall take the other mortar, and shall plaster the
- 13:08house. 43 And if the plague come again and break out in the
- 13:12house, after that he has taken away the stones, and after that
- 13:15he has scraped the house, and after it is plastering. 44 Then
- 13:19the priest shall come and look, and behold the plague be spread
- 13:22in the house. It is a fretting leprosy in the
- 13:25house. It is unclean. 45 And he shall
- 13:27break down that house, the stones of it, the timber of it,
- 13:33the mortar of the house, and he shall carry them forth out of
- 13:38the city into an unclean place. So it is to be utterly
- 13:42destroyed. If it comes back, there could be
- 13:46no chances taken of it getting to them and killing them and
- 13:51spreading. 46 Moreover, he that goes into the house all the
- 13:58while that it is shut up shall be unclean until the evening. 47
- 14:04And he that lies in the house shall wash his clothes, and he
- 14:08that eats in the house shall wash his clothes.
- 14:11Aren't you thankful that he gives us rows of white, and we
- 14:14can be covered in his righteousness be made whole?
- 14:1848 And then the priest shall come in and look upon it.
- 14:21Behold, the plague has not spread in the house after the
- 14:24house was plastered. Then the priest shall pronounce
- 14:27the house clean, because the plague is healed. 49 And he
- 14:31shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and
- 14:34scarlet and hyssop. 15 He shall kill one of the birds in an
- 14:38earthen vessel over running water. 51 And he shall take the
- 14:42cedar wood and the hyssop, and the scarlet and the living bird,
- 14:45and dip them in the blood of the slain bird in the running water,
- 14:49and sprinkle the house. 7 * 52 And he shall cleanse the house
- 14:53blood of the bird in the running water, and with the living bird,
- 14:57and with the cedar wood and the hyssop, and with the scarlet. 53
- 15:01And he shall let the living bird out of the city into the open
- 15:04fields, and make an one meant for the house, and it shall be
- 15:08clean. 54 This is the law of all manner of plague, of leprosy and
- 15:13skull. 55 And for the leprosy of the garment of a house. 56 And
- 15:18for a rising, for a scab, and for a bright spot we'll end on
- 15:2157 to teach when it is unclean and when it is clean.
- 15:26This is the law of leprosy. Aren't you thankful that we can
- 15:31be made whole and healed from all of our sin debt and sin
- 15:36disease and we could be cleansed and we can be made white as
- 15:40snow? That is the only thing that can
- 15:43take our sin away and that is what is mirrored and modeled in
- 15:47this. And if people who are suffering
- 15:51from all kinds of infectious diseases were to take this
- 15:55archaic, antiquated, barbaric language and apply it to modern
- 16:01day, they would be surprised at the results.
- 16:06And so much of our science and so much of all of the
- 16:11discoveries, They go back and they line up completely with
- 16:17God's word because He's the one who wrote every single bit of
- 16:21how this world operates into the fabric of everything all around
- 16:26us. Never forget that science and
- 16:29God are not competing against each other.
- 16:32Science is trying to catch up with the thoughts of God, and
- 16:35it'll always be that way until He comes again and takes us to
- 16:38where He is and makes everything new, where there's no more
- 16:41tears, there's no more disease, there's no more death, Thank
- 16:45God. Hallelujah, that's where we're
- 16:47headed from glory to glory. I hope you've been blessed by
- 16:50this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 16:52I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 16:55of you. I love you.
- 17:01We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 17:03God bless you.
