- Adam Rutz: Your morning routine doesn't need to be complicated. It needs to be consistent. One thing I used to really struggle with was having that consistency from the time I woke up until the time I actually started working. And I've realized that if you want to operate with more clarity, more focus, and more control mentally, a lot of it comes back to your structure. We talk about routines because routines eventually become habits. And understand this you're building habits 24 7. The question is whether you're intentionally building habits that will move you forward or accidentally building habits that will hold you back. I see people they'll create these three or four hour morning routines with 25 different things they have to accomplish before they can start their day. And for most people, I think that's really unnecessary. Your routine does not have to be extreme, it needs to be repeatable. For me, it's the same routine every single day. I'll wake up, say a prayer of gratitude, feed my dog. Get a 30-minute workout in, listen to mental performance daily while I'm exercising, check my aura sleep metrics, update habit share, shower, eat some Greek yogurt with fruit, check my reports for work, and then when all of that's done, I reward myself with a black coffee and get after it. Less than an hour every single day, Monday, Thursday, Sunday, traveling at home. It doesn't matter. One of the greatest benefits of a routine is that you eliminate decision making and default to the things you know you need to do in order to compete. Think about an athlete before they go into competition. The best performers aren't randomly deciding how they're gonna prepare every day. They build a warm-up, a routine, a preparation process that they can trust. Your morning and how you start your day should work the same exact way. Since I've become more consistent with mine, it's been one of several things that have helped me feel significantly sharper mentally. So here's what I want you to work on today. Think about four or five things that you can do. Every single morning, regardless of the day, that will put you in the best position to perform. Keep it simple, make it repeatable, and then stop negotiating with yourself and do it every day. Because when you control how you start your day, you give yourself a much better chance to control how you perform throughout it. Mindset, process, discipline, execution. That's mental performance daily.
