- 0:21Speaker 1: T-Bob is with us. Check him out. Wake up Barstool.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Every morning on FS1, wherever you get your podcasts as well.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We love him. He was just away. What does Barstool do?
- 0:32Speaker 1: They have a camp.
- 0:33Speaker 2: You guys go out to a lake because you guys
- 0:34Speaker 2: were talking about blobbing And I have no idea what
- 0:37Speaker 2: blobbing is.
- 0:38Speaker 1: So let's just start with. What you guys do at
- 0:40Speaker 1: Barstool every year? Is it camp? What is it? A vacation?
- 0:43Speaker 1: What do you guys do?
- 0:45Speaker 3: I love the fact that you don't know what blobbing is.
- 0:47Speaker 3: And me and Mikey A were talking about double blobbing you. Yes.
- 0:52Speaker 3: You ain't ready to get blobbed by. You ain't ready
- 0:54Speaker 3: for the double teams, too. You're going to have to
- 0:57Speaker 3: pay a little extra for that.
- 0:59Speaker 1: You don't know what it is.
- 1:00Speaker 3: You can't afford it.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Why would I pay extra for something that sounds terrible?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Like you're going to do something awful to me. I
- 1:06Speaker 2: have a double?
- 1:07Speaker 3: No, here, okay, what is Barstool? That is a great
- 1:10Speaker 3: question because.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Don't give away secrets here, okay?
- 1:14Speaker 3: Last week, Wake Up Barstool was off because football's about
- 1:17Speaker 3: to start, and we worked through the summer because we
- 1:19Speaker 3: had World Cup. So, like, everybody normally gets a couple
- 1:21Speaker 3: weeks off. Summer, we didn't, whatever. So, you know, production team, everybody,
- 1:24Speaker 3: let's rest up our batteries before football season starts. But
- 1:29Speaker 3: I'm in content, and so I got to go do
- 1:31Speaker 3: this camp thing. And it's funny that you kind of say,
- 1:34Speaker 3: what do we do? Because I'm sitting there, And it's
- 1:37Speaker 3: Wednesday night. We've been there for three days, I think,
- 1:41Speaker 3: at this point. We had just been drinking some beer
- 1:45Speaker 3: in the woods, listening to a great American folk band
- 1:50Speaker 3: that had rolled through, called them Cooley Boys. And they
- 1:52Speaker 3: were like, go down to the beach, there's a surprise.
- 1:55Speaker 3: And then there was just a massive fireworks show, like
- 1:58Speaker 3: a really big on-the-water fireworks show, professionally done and everything.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And I'm sitting there, I'm like, what are we celebrating?
- 2:09Speaker 3: We're just a bunch of old 30-year-olds who spent the
- 2:12Speaker 3: last two days playing softball against one another on YouTube
- 2:17Speaker 3: trying to get views for Mountain Dew. Is that worthy
- 2:22Speaker 3: of a private beach fireworks show in the... You know,
- 2:25Speaker 3: the beautiful lakes of Wisconsin?
- 2:27Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But it was definitely one of those moments where I
- 2:30Speaker 2: was like, where the fuck am.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I right now? Yes, I got to be honest. What
- 2:33Speaker 1: you're celebrating is that you guys are stealing for a living.
- 2:36Speaker 3: That was work.
- 2:37Speaker 1: That's what you're celebrating, you know?
- 2:38Speaker 3: Look, this entire company, you could be said... uh, trained
- 2:44Speaker 3: at the, at the, you know, at the Stu, at
- 2:47Speaker 3: the Stu University. Uh, they, they, there, there are many,
- 2:51Speaker 3: many Stu Gatzian protégés in this company, without a doubt.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I love all of them.
- 2:56Speaker 4: T-Bob, I'm going to explain to Stu what, what the
- 2:59Speaker 4: blob is. So, A blob is a camp staple, Stu.
- 3:02Speaker 4: It's like a massive air-filled inflatable tube that floats on
- 3:06Speaker 4: the lake. One person is on the blob, and then
- 3:09Speaker 4: one person goes to almost like a ladder of sorts
- 3:13Speaker 4: to jump on the blob. And then when that bigger
- 3:15Speaker 4: person jumps on the blob, it shoots the other person
- 3:19Speaker 4: in the air. So that's why Mikey and T-Bob are
- 3:21Speaker 4: saying they're going to double blob you.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Blobbing is almost a science to maximizing it.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:29Speaker 4: And I think it's something you're either born with or
- 3:31Speaker 4: you're not. I think T-Bob was born to blob.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:33Speaker 4: T-blob.
- 3:34Speaker 1: T-blob.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Wow. I had the same joke.
- 3:38Speaker 1: The only reason I'm discussing this was to make that joke.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's an odd skill set, but like objectively, I am
- 3:45Speaker 3: a very good blobber. But it also comes down to
- 3:48Speaker 3: the blob itself. Because what you'll find is that about 90%
- 3:53Speaker 3: of blobs out there are not correctly installed, not correctly inflated,
- 3:57Speaker 3: therefore leading to diminishing returns. But when you get to
- 4:00Speaker 3: fly on one of the good ones, it's an experience
- 4:05Speaker 3: really unlike any other. I mean, we even lifted Brandon
- 4:08Speaker 3: Walker's old ass, I think like 30 feet in the air,
- 4:12Speaker 3: somewhere around there when we got him. So yeah, it's
- 4:15Speaker 3: worth doing at one point in your life if you've
- 4:17Speaker 3: ever come across one, Stu.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Okay, cool.
- 4:20Speaker 3: You know who to call.
- 4:22Speaker 2: So Mikey A and you are double blobbing me. I
- 4:25Speaker 2: would land, I don't know where I would end up.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I mean, it's a different state. I like the idea
- 4:31Speaker 3: of you laying on the edge, smoking a cigarette, hanging
- 4:35Speaker 3: out your mouth, kind of shaking a little bit. And
- 4:37Speaker 3: then as you go flying, the cig goes shooting off
- 4:41Speaker 3: into the sky. But you're going to have a good,
- 4:43Speaker 3: you might hurt a little bit afterwards, but you're going
- 4:45Speaker 3: to have a good time when you're in the air.
- 4:46Speaker 1: That's what blobbing is all about. See, Bob? I mean,
- 4:48Speaker 1: come on. Yes. Is Bill Belichick back?
- 4:53Speaker 3: He's not, not back. I don't want to go, I
- 4:58Speaker 3: don't want to go, it's like, I do a classic
- 5:02Speaker 3: thing where I always overreact to the Aer Lingus, but
- 5:06Speaker 3: it has given us some valuable intel in the past, right?
- 5:09Speaker 3: I think of it kind of like Georgia Tech's coming
- 5:11Speaker 3: out party a couple of years ago that they've kind
- 5:13Speaker 3: of done right by up to this point. And here's
- 5:16Speaker 3: the thing about the ACC, right? In the ACC right now,
- 5:19Speaker 3: you have Miami, and then you have everybody else. So
- 5:23Speaker 3: one of the more interesting sub-conversations in college football to
- 5:27Speaker 3: me right now is who is going to assert themselves
- 5:30Speaker 3: as that second-best team in the ACC. Now, Louisville, they
- 5:34Speaker 3: look like a prime candidate. There's some others out there.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Like Virginia, I was very impressed with this week. It's
- 5:40Speaker 3: just a bunch of old heads chopping it up. But...
- 5:44Speaker 3: Here is one thing that I do like about what
- 5:47Speaker 3: I saw at a UNC this weekend. First, this is
- 5:51Speaker 3: a TCU team that just beat the hell out of
- 5:53Speaker 3: them last year. I think they lost, what was the
- 5:54Speaker 3: exact number? I think they lost like 34 to TCU
- 5:58Speaker 3: last year. So already just a quantifiable massive improvement. But
- 6:03Speaker 3: even though I don't know what the ceiling on the
- 6:07Speaker 3: Petrino-Billy Edwards quarterback-coach combination is, I do like this. I
- 6:13Speaker 3: know that Bobby Petrino is going to probably... He'll be successful. Like, he'll...
- 6:17Speaker 3: They'll be much better in that regard than last year.
- 6:20Speaker 3: But if you look at Petrino in Arkansas, the offense
- 6:22Speaker 3: was incredible. Everything else was absolute dogshit. Like, terrible penalties
- 6:27Speaker 3: and turnovers, finding ways to lose games. So, in theory...
- 6:32Speaker 3: taking a Petrino college offense and then combining it with
- 6:37Speaker 3: a Belichickian infrastructure, right? Where you should be disciplined. You
- 6:42Speaker 3: shouldn't make mistakes. Like Belichick is good at a head
- 6:46Speaker 3: coach everywhere where Bobby Petrino was not. And we know
- 6:50Speaker 3: that like him or don't like him, Petrino is objectively
- 6:52Speaker 3: a good offensive mind in college football. And again, to,
- 6:58Speaker 3: not to look too much into this game, but like,
- 7:00Speaker 3: look at TCU, right? 11 penalties, 100 yards. One of
- 7:03Speaker 3: the key reasons UNC won, four penalties of 25. Disciplined football.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Bill Belichick, with Steve Belichick out, calling the plays defensively.
- 7:11Speaker 3: They gave up 10 in the first two drives. They
- 7:13Speaker 3: don't allow another point afterwards. They're strong in the red zone,
- 7:15Speaker 3: so it was good situational football by UNC. So yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 3: I kind of, I see the vision for the Tar Heels.
- 7:24Speaker 3: And no matter where this season goes.
- 7:27Speaker 5: This week's zero win was a bit of a statement that,
- 7:31Speaker 5: you know, maybe the disaster that we painted, myself chief
- 7:35Speaker 5: among everybody, have painted going on in Chapel Hill right now.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Maybe there's a little more hope than I'm giving them
- 7:41Speaker 3: credit for.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I want the record to show I'm a believer.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Oh, no, you're not.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Everybody knows that. I've never doubted this coaching staff. I've
- 7:48Speaker 4: never doubted Bill Belichick. But if you twisted my arm
- 7:51Speaker 4: and made me do glass half empty.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 4: This might actually be worst-case scenario for UNC because they
- 8:01Speaker 4: might just be an average team. You're not going to
- 8:03Speaker 4: compete with the elite teams in Notre Dame and Miami,
- 8:05Speaker 4: and you're probably not bad enough to need a complete
- 8:07Speaker 4: reset of the program after the season.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Mikey A is shaking his head. He comes with his
- 8:11Speaker 2: own sound effects. He has none for me, but when
- 8:13Speaker 2: he speaks, he has plenty.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I mean, it's unbelievable.
- 8:17Speaker 4: He figures out questions he's going to ask like 30
- 8:20Speaker 4: minutes before the interview just so that he can set
- 8:23Speaker 4: something up.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Also, odd usage there because you said half empty. Yes.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Then played the water sound effect. So I thought you
- 8:31Speaker 3: were filling it up.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Yes. Like I thought you were saying we're starting to
- 8:34Speaker 1: have the no. Should be dumping it out.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Not at all.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 4: You don't know which way the water is flowing.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Do you have the dumping out sound effect?
- 8:43Speaker 3: I mean. I did want to shout this out. And
- 8:46Speaker 3: this comes from Manny Navarro of The Athletic. And these
- 8:49Speaker 3: are the stories that I love about college football. But
- 8:52Speaker 3: how about the story Xavier Lewis? This is a local
- 8:56Speaker 3: Carolina cat. walks on the football team, barely plays as
- 9:00Speaker 3: a freshman last year. Okay. He's a defensive lineman at
- 9:03Speaker 3: six foot two 60 undersized in high school. He led
- 9:08Speaker 3: his team to a state championship appearance. He was the
- 9:10Speaker 3: tight end, the running back at times, D tackle D
- 9:13Speaker 3: at like one of those is hardcore grinder. Do it
- 9:16Speaker 3: all sorts of guys. He gets to play. He gets
- 9:18Speaker 3: his first ever start over there in Ireland. What does
- 9:20Speaker 3: he do? Seven tackles, Four and a half tiffles, two sacks.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I love, especially in this NIL age, where everybody's highly
- 9:29Speaker 3: paid and got all these insane measurables, when you see
- 9:32Speaker 3: just the guy who fucking loves football, undersized, makes it
- 9:36Speaker 3: happen anyway. Shout out Xavier Lewis.
- 9:38Speaker 2: If Belichick could ice every game by making a guy
- 9:41Speaker 2: jump off sides, do you think he would?
- 9:43Speaker 3: I mean... That goes back to the Petrino part, right?
- 9:49Speaker 1: I know, yes.
- 9:50Speaker 3: If there's one thing that Bill Belichick should be good at,
- 9:53Speaker 3: I would have said it was no distractions, but that's insanely,
- 9:59Speaker 3: that's out the window. But if there's one thing he
- 10:01Speaker 3: should be good at, it should be getting his team
- 10:03Speaker 3: ready for situational football. That's what the NFL is all about.
- 10:08Speaker 3: And we talk about it being maybe the greatest NFL
- 10:10Speaker 3: coach of all time. So yeah, that is borderline erotic
- 10:17Speaker 3: for a head coach. to win the game in such
- 10:19Speaker 3: a disciplined manner.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Taylor passed down the opportunity to go to this game
- 10:24Speaker 2: in Dublin, Ireland, for free.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I know, you're shaking your head. It's ridiculous. But he
- 10:28Speaker 1: did create a song.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Had he gone to Dublin, this is the song Taylor
- 10:32Speaker 2: would have been singing in a local pub after the
- 10:35Speaker 2: game as a Tar Heel fan.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Oh, Bill sawed off for W with his hoodie and
- 10:43Speaker 4: his frown. He brought the heels from Chapel Hill to
- 10:46Speaker 4: shake that Irish town. The horned frogs came to meet him,
- 10:49Speaker 4: all dressed in purple hue. But Bill had come for
- 10:52Speaker 4: one thing, to show what the heels could do. They
- 10:55Speaker 4: said the man was getting old. They said his time
- 10:57Speaker 4: was through. Then Bill went off to Ireland and beat
- 11:00Speaker 4: the hell out of TCU. They called the team a laughingstock.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Nobody gave a chance. They took the fight right to
- 11:07Speaker 4: the frogs and did an Irish dance. They counted out
- 11:10Speaker 4: Bibellecek and said he.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Would go in lists.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Well, you could kiss my Tar Heel ass while I
- 11:15Speaker 4: go drink a Guinness. A quarterback from Maryland, he's over
- 11:19Speaker 4: six feet tall. He saved the Heels in Ireland. His
- 11:22Speaker 4: name is Billy Football. They said his coach was finished.
- 11:25Speaker 4: His legacy was done. He left Lombardi in the States
- 11:29Speaker 4: and then he finally won. But Trino called the offense. Oh,
- 11:33Speaker 4: Bill controlled the D. The Frogs came in as favorites,
- 11:36Speaker 4: but that meant shit to me. They crossed the sea
- 11:39Speaker 4: as underdogs with everybody sure. That TCU would roll the
- 11:43Speaker 4: heels while 1510 says more. The time for laughing's over.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Coach Bill has got his team. When Carolina comes to town,
- 11:51Speaker 4: they're going to cause a scene. I hope you had
- 11:54Speaker 4: your fun. I mean it sincerely. You woke the sleeping giant.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Next stop, the CFP.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Just nailed it right up until the end.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Speaking of, you know. Not exaggerating the importance of what
- 12:16Speaker 3: you saw at the Aer Lingus. Yeah, Carolina, definite. Wait,
- 12:21Speaker 3: hold on to it. So you make that song about
- 12:24Speaker 3: drinking Guinness. And yet you had the opportunity to cross
- 12:29Speaker 3: off something that is on my bucket list as a
- 12:32Speaker 3: college football fan, which is to drink a freshly drawn
- 12:35Speaker 3: Guinness in the stadium at the Aer Lingus watching my
- 12:39Speaker 3: favorite team do battle. You know these opportunities only come
- 12:42Speaker 3: once in a lifetime, Taylor. What do you have to
- 12:44Speaker 3: say for yourself?
- 12:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so there's a bit of an asterisk next to
- 12:47Speaker 4: that I had the opportunity because my passport is currently expired,
- 12:51Speaker 4: and the thought process of having to renew the passport
- 12:55Speaker 4: was a bit overwhelming. Where if Carolina goes into that
- 12:57Speaker 4: game as a 14-point favorite, a 21-point favorite, there might
- 13:01Speaker 4: be a little bit of a higher sense of urgency
- 13:03Speaker 4: for me to renew the passport. But when Carolina's a
- 13:06Speaker 4: 9.5-point underdog, I was like, you know what? I think
- 13:08Speaker 4: I'd rather watch this from my couch.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I don't think that made anything better. You just said
- 13:13Speaker 3: you were too much of a coward to give yourself
- 13:15Speaker 3: over to hope. Here at the beginning of a season
- 13:18Speaker 3: when nobody can tell you what your team is or isn't,
- 13:21Speaker 3: you allowed yourself to be swayed and dismayed by the
- 13:24Speaker 3: oracles in the desert. Now you're losing on two points.
- 13:27Speaker 3: You're cowardly, you didn't believe in your team, and you
- 13:30Speaker 3: skipped the opportunity to drink freshly drunk Guinness in the
- 13:32Speaker 3: Ellinga Stadium.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but that passport renewal is a pain in the ass, man.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It really is.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it is. Actually, probably the craziest shit I've ever done,
- 13:41Speaker 3: I've got to give a shout out to my wife.
- 13:43Speaker 3: We had a family trip to Mexico one time, and
- 13:46Speaker 3: I realized the night before that my passport was expired.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Jesus.
- 13:53Speaker 3: And the next day, the family flew ahead of me.
- 13:57Speaker 3: But the next day, I got a same-day passport. Wow.
- 14:02Speaker 3: And managed to meet up with the family in Mexico, dude. Wow.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Expedited. How much extra did you have to pay for that?
- 14:08Speaker 4: He's still paying for it.
- 14:09Speaker 3: No, no.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Installments.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I think what is it? This is a little PSA.
- 14:14Speaker 3: If you have a passport office that is drivable, that
- 14:19Speaker 3: you can show up in person, a lot of major
- 14:21Speaker 3: cities do. And you have an itinerary that proves that
- 14:26Speaker 3: you're leaving within, I think, the next 24 to 48 hours.
- 14:29Speaker 3: You show up, you know, two hours before the door's
- 14:31Speaker 3: open to get in line. Right. And you can do it.
- 14:34Speaker 3: You get same-day passports.
- 14:36Speaker 2: No, Miami has them on every street corner. You just
- 14:38Speaker 2: have no idea if they're legal or not. I mean,
- 14:41Speaker 2: it's a total roll.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Of the dice.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Sounds like Miami. Yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 2: This is an odd question, T-Bob, but I know you're
- 14:59Speaker 2: excited for the LSU season, but because Lane Kiffin is
- 15:03Speaker 2: now there and the expectations have risen to a ridiculous level,
- 15:07Speaker 2: is there a part of you that is nervous as a.
- 15:11Speaker 1: LSU alum, as someone who loves that school and loves.
- 15:14Speaker 2: That program, nervous because you know what the reaction is
- 15:17Speaker 2: going to be if they lose to, let's say, I
- 15:19Speaker 2: don't know, Clemson?
- 15:21Speaker 3: No, no, I mean, no, I... How do I want
- 15:26Speaker 3: to frame this? Being an LSU fan is a bit
- 15:31Speaker 3: odd in that the highs are as high as anybody, right?
- 15:36Speaker 3: Three national championships since 2000 with three different head coaches
- 15:40Speaker 3: like you played for another. So when things all coalesce,
- 15:44Speaker 3: you are as good as anyone in the entire country.
- 15:46Speaker 3: But if you look at the record of LSU on
- 15:50Speaker 3: a year-by-year basis, there's a lot more, I guess you
- 15:56Speaker 3: could say, mediocrity than you would think. And yet this
- 16:01Speaker 3: is despite the fact that every single offseason— that I
- 16:05Speaker 3: was doing local radio. Like I talked myself into them
- 16:07Speaker 3: going 10 and two, like every single off season. I
- 16:10Speaker 3: talked about it. So, and, and especially after thinking that
- 16:13Speaker 3: the Brian Kelly era, how could it not result in
- 16:16Speaker 3: a national championship?
- 16:17Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:17Speaker 3: The last three coaches did it. It's a winning this
- 16:19Speaker 3: head coach in college football coming in. Surely this will
- 16:22Speaker 3: be great. And it fell so flat on its face
- 16:25Speaker 3: that I feel like I've got pretty good scar tissue
- 16:29Speaker 3: built up here. And so like, What? You're going to
- 16:32Speaker 3: make fun of me if we lose to Clemson? I
- 16:34Speaker 3: don't give a fuck. I'm going to be there next week. No,
- 16:38Speaker 3: there's nothing that you could say to hurt me. There's
- 16:43Speaker 3: no attack angle. And guess what? If LSU does lose
- 16:50Speaker 3: to Clemson after the just... heinous and villainous shit that
- 16:57Speaker 3: they have been overwhelmingly upfront about doing, then yeah, everybody
- 17:01Speaker 3: should hop on that bandwagon. Because in many ways, the
- 17:04Speaker 3: LSU-Clemson game is like, in Dabo and Clemson, kind of
- 17:08Speaker 3: the last bastion of the old way of doing things
- 17:11Speaker 3: and trying to stubbornly say that this will work, going
- 17:14Speaker 3: against the people who are at the absolute forefront of
- 17:19Speaker 3: the envelope pushing. Like, people don't realize this. There's all
- 17:23Speaker 3: the drama about athletes who had already moved on coming
- 17:27Speaker 3: back to play. LSU soccer actually played two girls this
- 17:32Speaker 3: weekend that had already moved on and came back to play.
- 17:35Speaker 3: So like all of it in football's theoretical, LSU soccer's
- 17:38Speaker 3: already broken the seal and they've already welcomed back players
- 17:41Speaker 3: with open arms that were thought to be out of
- 17:43Speaker 3: their college eligibility and gone.
- 17:45Speaker 2: What do you say to people that Lane Kiffin should
- 17:48Speaker 2: be more focused on the game, on the opponent this weekend,
- 17:50Speaker 2: on the season, on the players that he has than
- 17:52Speaker 2: on the players that he doesn't have?
- 17:55Speaker 3: Have you seen Lane Kiffin? Have you seen Lane Kiffin's
- 18:00Speaker 3: Twitter at all lately?
- 18:01Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Exactly. My guy's fucking dialed. You know what he's not doing?
- 18:08Speaker 1: He's not tweeting.
- 18:09Speaker 3: He's not on social media. All he's fucking doing is
- 18:13Speaker 3: getting ready to win football games and do right by
- 18:15Speaker 3: this $ 40 million roster. If you have the chance to
- 18:20Speaker 3: get the man who just led all rookies in sacks
- 18:24Speaker 3: in the NFL preseason on your college football team, Jack Pyburn,
- 18:29Speaker 3: you go get that guy.
- 18:29Speaker 1: You're right, yes.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Okay? The thing is, like, I hate... On a personal level,
- 18:39Speaker 3: I don't like this. You should not be able to
- 18:43Speaker 3: go try with an NFL team and then come back
- 18:45Speaker 3: and play college on a.
- 18:49Speaker 3: But outside of just a bit of personal distaste, you
- 18:54Speaker 3: really can't argue it from any other angle. When these
- 18:58Speaker 3: guys declared to go to the NFL, they did not
- 19:02Speaker 3: realize that having another year of eligibility was even an option. Well,
- 19:06Speaker 3: then that opens up. If you're one of these players...
- 19:11Speaker 3: And you have the opportunity to either, okay, A, your
- 19:14Speaker 3: football career is done, or you get to go make
- 19:17Speaker 3: a million dollars playing football again this fall. You take
- 19:20Speaker 3: the million dollars. And if you're Lane Kiffin and you
- 19:24Speaker 3: have all the pressure in the world on you, they
- 19:26Speaker 3: just spent $ 200 million between firing coaches, hiring coaches, building
- 19:31Speaker 3: the roster, and you have to win immediately because look
- 19:34Speaker 3: at what's significant. That's the era in which we live. Well,
- 19:38Speaker 3: It's hard to say that you wouldn't do every single
- 19:40Speaker 3: thing you possibly could to make that a reality. So, yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 3: I mean, it's a weird thing where I have personal
- 19:46Speaker 3: distaste for it. However, I understand the motivations. of every
- 19:51Speaker 3: single piece involved that created the situation.
- 19:55Speaker 4: T-Bob, I've been at the forefront of saying that we
- 19:57Speaker 4: were wasting Saturday nights in Baton Rouge and Death Valley
- 20:00Speaker 4: on Brian Kelly, and now that they bring Lane Kiffin in,
- 20:03Speaker 4: the only time I've been to Death Valley was a
- 20:06Speaker 4: game under Brian Kelly, and I feel like I didn't
- 20:08Speaker 4: get the proper.
- 20:09Speaker 3: the proper experience.
- 20:10Speaker 4: So I'm thinking about going to this week, one game
- 20:13Speaker 4: against Clemson. And I'm curious in your opinion, what are
- 20:17Speaker 4: the must, the, the must do things in Baton Rouge?
- 20:23Speaker 3: Uh, I mean, let me think like, so the must
- 20:26Speaker 3: do thing is the game. Right. And, and I would
- 20:28Speaker 3: just say that when you go tailgating, uh, don't be
- 20:34Speaker 3: like shy, like, So there are some tailgating environments. Like
- 20:38Speaker 3: I remember famously going to like Ole Miss one time
- 20:40Speaker 3: or something and, and people had like padlocks on their
- 20:44Speaker 3: ice chests. Right. And, and it was very like, no, no, no,
- 20:47Speaker 3: this is mine. And you must, who are you? You
- 20:50Speaker 3: must go elsewhere to find your vigils. At LSU, what
- 20:54Speaker 3: you're going to run into is a very welcoming environment.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Open environment. You just talk about who you are. You say, oh, let,
- 21:01Speaker 3: you know, say exactly what you just said to me.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I came here during Kelly and I was like, everybody
- 21:05Speaker 3: will welcome you with open arms. You will be showered
- 21:08Speaker 3: with drinks and delicious foods. Try it all. Drink it all.
- 21:13Speaker 3: But if you're looking for something to do Friday night,
- 21:16Speaker 3: I mean, Taylor, you're still young enough. You could probably
- 21:17Speaker 3: get away with maybe a Fred's visit. That could be
- 21:19Speaker 3: kind of crazy. I always loved getting superior margaritas. At
- 21:25Speaker 3: the Superior Mexican Restaurant. There's a couple of them there.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Those are excellent. It's kind of like the local Baton
- 21:32Speaker 3: Rouge spot on a Friday night to get fired up
- 21:34Speaker 3: for the weekend. You know what? For breakfast, go to
- 21:39Speaker 3: Simple Joe's Diner, upper government, and get you some biscuits
- 21:44Speaker 3: and gravy. They only serve it on the weekends. Super cheap.
- 21:47Speaker 3: It's the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had in
- 21:49Speaker 3: my entire life, and I fucking love. Biscuits and gravy.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Can I name drop you? Fried egg. Sunny side up egg.
- 21:55Speaker 4: Can I name drop you?
- 21:57Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Say we work together.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Okay. If he said no, you would still do it, right?
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Learn from the best.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Broadcasting. T-Bob, are you going to the game?
- 22:10Speaker 3: No, I think the only LSU game that I have
- 22:12Speaker 3: on the docket this year thus far is Alabama.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I can't wait. It's going to be my first time
- 22:18Speaker 3: back in Baton Rouge in like over a year and
- 22:20Speaker 3: a half, which is going to be Very exciting. I'll
- 22:23Speaker 3: be drinking many superior margaritas. I'm actually going to be
- 22:26Speaker 3: going to Fred's because our barstool band, Pup Punk, is
- 22:29Speaker 3: going to be playing there with Shaq. They're opening up
- 22:31Speaker 3: for Shaq, who's going to be DJing afterwards. And so
- 22:36Speaker 3: and then I am just going to. I'm going to
- 22:39Speaker 3: be an obscene, just gluttonous, gratuitous, obnoxious human being when
- 22:48Speaker 3: it comes to Saturday against Alabama. And hopefully by that time,
- 22:51Speaker 3: like who knows, right? Because that's my favorite part about
- 22:54Speaker 3: this college football season is while that it's actually begun, Uh,
- 23:00Speaker 3: like the off season kind of sucks. It's impossible to
- 23:03Speaker 3: keep track of like, who's where you're like studying rosters,
- 23:06Speaker 3: trying to make it all make sense. Uh, but what
- 23:08Speaker 3: this leads to is we don't actually know. who's good
- 23:13Speaker 3: and who's not, or how good or how not a
- 23:16Speaker 3: team will be. And so like now that the actual
- 23:18Speaker 3: games are starting, I feel like we stand to learn,
- 23:22Speaker 3: like look at UNC, we stand to learn more every
- 23:26Speaker 3: single week than the majority of college football seasons that
- 23:29Speaker 3: we have lived through up to this point, which means
- 23:32Speaker 3: I am fascinated by the idea of what both LSU
- 23:36Speaker 3: and Alabama will be come that first weekend in November.
- 23:40Speaker 1: What do you think Alabama's going to be?
- 23:45Speaker 3: It's tough because, you know, at a certain point, it's like,
- 23:51Speaker 3: is the police chief going to call me into the
- 23:53Speaker 3: office and take me off the case? Demand my gun
- 23:56Speaker 3: and badge because I'm too close to it. Because I
- 24:00Speaker 3: fucking hate him. And so I can't help but see
- 24:03Speaker 3: all the flaws, right? I see an offensive line last
- 24:08Speaker 3: year that was supposed to be highly talented and they
- 24:10Speaker 3: got absolutely, I mean, could not run the ball. Couldn't
- 24:12Speaker 3: convert a third and one. got absolutely dominated on the
- 24:16Speaker 3: lines of scrimmage by Indiana. I see a coach in
- 24:21Speaker 3: Kalen DeBoer who has, and granted part of this is
- 24:25Speaker 3: because of the heights of what he took over, but
- 24:28Speaker 3: like pick six has this great kind of coaching metric
- 24:31Speaker 3: where two years in they look, okay, have you lowered
- 24:34Speaker 3: the program, elevated? He's been one of the worst 10
- 24:36Speaker 3: hires in the entire country. If you just look at
- 24:39Speaker 3: where the program was to what it's done under him,
- 24:41Speaker 3: and again, a lot of that due to Saban, I
- 24:44Speaker 3: see a quarterback position that had a first-round guy, Ty Simpson,
- 24:48Speaker 3: last year who looks really good in the NFL preseason,
- 24:53Speaker 3: and yet they couldn't do much with him. And so
- 24:56Speaker 3: now you're going to get better with the first-time starter,
- 24:58Speaker 3: Keelan Russell, having completely reworked this Alabama offensive line. Yeah,
- 25:06Speaker 3: it's a really tough schedule. Actually, well, the scheduling's a
- 25:09Speaker 3: bit interesting because all SEC schedules feel tough, but they're actually–
- 25:12Speaker 3: a bit on the easier side. Um, I, I think
- 25:16Speaker 3: Alabama is probably a nine and three team. I think
- 25:18Speaker 3: they're nine and three team. I think it's a bit
- 25:20Speaker 3: of a safe answer. Uh, but who knows, maybe they'll
- 25:23Speaker 3: blow me away or maybe like we live in an
- 25:25Speaker 3: era where no Alabama really is just kind of pedestrian,
- 25:30Speaker 3: like everyone else in the entire country.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Uh, if it is that, if it's three losses, DeBoer
- 25:35Speaker 1: is God, right? He has to be. I, I would,
- 25:39Speaker 1: I would think so.
- 25:41Speaker 3: I think maybe it also, though, like, who would be
- 25:44Speaker 3: the sexy potential hire? Like, which coach is going to
- 25:48Speaker 3: blow us away during this college football season and maybe
- 25:51Speaker 3: represent something tantalizing enough to Alabama to make that move?
- 25:55Speaker 1: Belichick.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Now, I would say I don't think 9-3
- 26:03Speaker 3: would 100% be DeBoer out. I feel like they've got
- 26:07Speaker 3: a little bit of sunk cost in DeBoer. And I
- 26:09Speaker 3: feel like there's contextually 9-3s out there where we might
- 26:14Speaker 3: see a 9-3 team make the playoff. So I think
- 26:17Speaker 3: there's a couple scenarios which he could survive that. But yeah,
- 26:20Speaker 3: certainly 8-4. And you feel like that's kind of a
- 26:24Speaker 3: zero-sum game. He's out of there.
- 26:26Speaker 4: T-Bob, I feel like Alabama needs a coach that better
- 26:28Speaker 4: fits what Alabama football is supposed to be. And I
- 26:31Speaker 4: think we saw him in action this weekend. Charles Huff
- 26:33Speaker 4: from Memphis.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, already, this is why I love college football.
- 26:37Speaker 3: We actually had Huff on Wake Up this morning. He's
- 26:39Speaker 3: fucking awesome, dude. I mean, he was great at Marshall. Remember,
- 26:43Speaker 3: he was the man that led that Marshall win over
- 26:48Speaker 3: Notre Dame a few years back where they just really
- 26:50Speaker 3: bullied Marshall. Notre Dame, all he talks about is toughness.
- 26:53Speaker 3: He gets screwed over at Marshall, gets screwed over at
- 26:55Speaker 3: Southern Miss. Now he ends up at Memphis, where Memphis
- 26:59Speaker 3: is an interesting job. Memphis, they're kind of like kingmakers, right?
- 27:03Speaker 3: Look at Mike Norvell. Look at Ryan Silverfield. Memphis is
- 27:07Speaker 3: a school where they always have talent. They're always seemingly good.
- 27:12Speaker 3: And if you're a coach worth your salt, you can
- 27:15Speaker 3: do very good things there, and then you become the
- 27:16Speaker 3: next big candidate. It's like already this morning, I've heard
- 27:19Speaker 3: like Mississippi State fans talking about Huff, South Carolina fans
- 27:23Speaker 3: maybe talking about Huff. Alabama would feel like way too
- 27:26Speaker 3: large of a leap, but Charles Huff, week zero, had
- 27:30Speaker 3: the big stage and officially put people on notice doing
- 27:34Speaker 3: what he did going on the road at UNLV and really,
- 27:38Speaker 3: I mean, out-toughing them is how they won that game.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Because that first half wasn't great. They should have been
- 27:44Speaker 3: down more. They found a way to only be down
- 27:45Speaker 3: one score. But they came out that second half and
- 27:47Speaker 3: they just started to beat ass. And UNLV completely crumbled
- 27:51Speaker 3: under the relentless pressure of that Memphis defensive line by
- 27:55Speaker 3: the end of that game.
- 27:57Speaker 4: T-Bob, we need your help splitting a tie here because
- 27:59Speaker 4: before we were as split as you could be, 2-2
- 28:01Speaker 4: with Jessica Smetana. When you think Elvis, do you think
- 28:06Speaker 4: Memphis or Las Vegas?
- 28:08Speaker 1: It's an easy answer. No, this is an easy answer.
- 28:10Speaker 1: It's a great question.
- 28:11Speaker 3: It's not.
- 28:13Speaker 1: You're right. It is an easy answer. You're just wrong.
- 28:15Speaker 1: How am I wrong?
- 28:20Speaker 3: So I will give you my instinctual answer.
- 28:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 28:26Speaker 3: And then what I think the correct answer is, because
- 28:29Speaker 3: my instinct was like, oh, it's Vegas.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Like, oh, fuck yeah, look, it's Elvis.
- 28:34Speaker 3: It's Vegas. That's like, you know, that's what Vegas is
- 28:36Speaker 3: known for, blah, blah, blah, blah. Right. But then I did,
- 28:40Speaker 3: it was pointed out to me, oh, wait, no, like,
- 28:42Speaker 3: that's Memphis. Like, it is some purpose. Like, so final
- 28:46Speaker 3: answer is. Elvis is Memphis.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Yes, correct.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Graceland is there. Yeah, Graceland is there. That's it.
- 28:53Speaker 1: You can end it right there. Graceland is there. Elvis
- 28:55Speaker 1: is Memphis.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yes, when you think Vegas, you think Wayne Newton.
- 28:57Speaker 3: I mean. Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 1: What do we know?
- 29:00Speaker 3: Who thinks Wayne Newton now? You think Wayne Newton, Mikey.
- 29:04Speaker 1: That is true.
- 29:05Speaker 3: You do.
- 29:05Speaker 1: You think Wayne Newton.
- 29:06Speaker 3: You think Wayne Newton. All the Wayne Newton impersonators walking around, right?
- 29:10Speaker 3: You ever seen Vegas Vacation? Yes. You think Wayne Newton.
- 29:12Speaker 1: It's either Wayne Newton or Jerry Tarkadian. I mean, that's it.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I mean, for me, that's all.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Dark uh yes it was it was a bit presumptuous
- 29:23Speaker 3: by dan mullen and co to bring out elvis against
- 29:27Speaker 3: memphis right very very purposeful there and against charles huff
- 29:32Speaker 3: who we now know no ice cream no music no
- 29:36Speaker 3: bullshit and you come out there and you throw hometown
- 29:39Speaker 3: bullshit in his face. Kind of got hoisted on your
- 29:42Speaker 3: own batard there, Dan. And I love Dan Mullen. Very
- 29:45Speaker 3: good coach.
- 29:45Speaker 1: But you think Elvis is yours. Get out of here, right?
- 29:48Speaker 1: That's what you said. No, no.
- 29:49Speaker 3: He said the tone immediately.
- 29:50Speaker 4: These two should have a game every year for the
- 29:53Speaker 4: right to claim Elvis. Who says no to that?
- 29:57Speaker 1: Nobody.
- 29:57Speaker 4: The Elvis Bowl. He likes it.
- 30:02Speaker 1: He's thinking about it.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Viva Memphis. Elvis has had so many different phases that
- 30:08Speaker 3: every year you could bust out a new Elvis mascot.
- 30:10Speaker 3: You could have like sexy young military Elvis. One year
- 30:13Speaker 3: you have like fat, old, 30 pounds of shit in
- 30:17Speaker 3: his intestines Elvis. And yeah, you could just work it
- 30:20Speaker 3: through the years. Stack those trophies.
- 30:23Speaker 1: T-Bob, we love you. Check him out. Wake up. Wait,
- 30:28Speaker 1: hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I'm sorry. I'm yelling.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Shout out to Virginia, man. Okay. Shout out to Virginia.
- 30:34Speaker 3: We talked about ACC teams.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Yes, we did.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Maybe filling the void. I did not realize this till
- 30:40Speaker 3: this morning. Did you know that Virginia, who, by the way,
- 30:43Speaker 3: sells out their home opener, first home sellout in 18 years,
- 30:48Speaker 3: broke the student attendance record. They have the literal most
- 30:51Speaker 3: experienced roster in all of college football. They got 29
- 30:57Speaker 3: transfers who have played a combined 23,000 combined snaps. Look
- 31:04Speaker 3: at this offensive line. Their left tackle's in year five,
- 31:08Speaker 3: 22 starts. Left guards, year six, 43 starts. Their center's
- 31:12Speaker 3: been playing college football for seven years. Their right guard's
- 31:16Speaker 3: been playing for six, and their right tackle's been playing
- 31:18Speaker 3: for seven years. They don't have a single starting alignment
- 31:22Speaker 3: under the age of 22. They got grown-ass men out.
- 31:28Speaker 1: There, and they look good. They look good. What a time.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Shout out, Virginia. Yes, shout out, Virginia.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I think they're older than the Miami Dolphins.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Yes, on average. Right. T-Bob, we love you. Check him out.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Wake up Barstool every morning, FS1, 8 to 10 a.m.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Eastern. You're the man, dude. You're going to have so
- 31:48Speaker 1: much fun this weekend, right? I mean, just.
- 31:50Speaker 3: I can't wait. I'm going to be locked in, which
- 31:53Speaker 3: is just like me on my computer watching five games
- 31:57Speaker 3: at once for like 12 hours straight. It's going to
- 32:00Speaker 3: be the best. Yeah.
- 32:02Speaker 1: It's the American dream. That's what it is. It really is.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Love you guys. Sorry to all the, well, you know what?
- 32:08Speaker 3: Thoughts and prayers. Yeah. Everybody that lost on the Stanford
- 32:15Speaker 3: scoop and score, but also big ups to everybody that
- 32:18Speaker 3: won on the Stanford scoop and score. It's always great
- 32:21Speaker 3: when Hawaii provides the gamblers with a little exciting finish
- 32:27Speaker 3: to the night. Very in keeping with the Hawaiian tradition,
- 32:30Speaker 3: I thought.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I mean, that's what they're there for. They really are.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Provide you with a little late night action.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Stanford seems to be missing one key ingredient to being
- 32:37Speaker 2: a great football program.
- 32:39Speaker 1: They have everything else. The crowd? And good players. Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:44Speaker 1: The crowd, good players.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Hey, how about this? Los Angeles, you don't fucking deserve
- 32:49Speaker 3: Aaron Donald.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Get out of here. I talk about this all the time.
- 32:54Speaker 3: You deserve nothing that you have. You proved it again
- 32:57Speaker 3: on Saturday. You have the number one recruiting class in
- 32:59Speaker 3: the entire country making its debut. Everyone's talking about it's
- 33:02Speaker 3: hot when it's 90 degrees outside. Get the hell out
- 33:06Speaker 3: of here, dude. Yes.
- 33:07Speaker 1: You don't deserve Aaron Donald. Wake up, Arsenal. Check him
- 33:11Speaker 1: out every morning. And wherever you get your podcasts. We
- 33:13Speaker 1: love you, buddy. Thank you for doing this.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Love you guys.
- 33:15Speaker 1: See you.
