- 1:34Speaker 1: We think Robert Sesna is on his way.
- 1:36Speaker 4: It's raining on how we see.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, we think he's on his way. But
- 1:42Speaker 1: God bless him for trying to fight his way over there.
- 1:44Speaker 4: As I noted, I did not get on highway.
- 1:46Speaker 7: And that's good. You need to get used to that.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But though you won't be able to for the next well,
- 1:51Speaker 1: they say years.
- 1:54Speaker 7: Yeah, I won't live to see the completion.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Listen that way, you know, you're just going to be brutal.
- 2:00Speaker 4: It's gonna be brew tool.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, that's not why we're here. I had said earlier,
- 2:09Speaker 1: I'm kind of out of topics. I didn't know what
- 2:11Speaker 1: we were going to talk about today, so I was
- 2:13Speaker 1: helping you guys, brought some stuff with you.
- 2:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I've got an idea we might be talking about
- 2:18Speaker 8: that school in Austin. A football game in Austin. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 8: I'm looking forward to it. I you know what, I
- 2:25Speaker 8: think it's gonna be. It's very very similar to me
- 2:28Speaker 8: as last year, except the roles were reversed. Yes, Texas
- 2:31Speaker 8: was the number three team in the country coming in here,
- 2:34Speaker 8: and A and M had a slight chance to get
- 2:35Speaker 8: you know, in the playoff, and it's just the opposite now. So,
- 2:39Speaker 8: I mean, Texas is kind of desperate. I expect Texas
- 2:43Speaker 8: to play a really inspired game, and in quite frankly,
- 2:47Speaker 8: I expect it probably to come down very similar to
- 2:51Speaker 8: it last year. You know, the A and M was
- 2:52Speaker 8: in that ball game. It was a one score game. Yep,
- 2:56Speaker 8: I expect all year long. What's impressed me the most,
- 2:59Speaker 8: chip is that, hey, how physical an M is and
- 3:02Speaker 8: how they wear you down. And that's kind of what
- 3:04Speaker 8: I anticipate. Uh, you never known a rivalry game. I
- 3:08Speaker 8: would be shocked if it's not close going in the
- 3:10Speaker 8: fourth quarter. But then I think, you know, I think
- 3:14Speaker 8: it could be a ten point game.
- 3:16Speaker 7: I do too.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Actually made some picks today, but.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I made rapid fire picks. By the way, By the way.
- 3:24Speaker 7: I think that's the best kind.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yeah, because I used to think the start picks.
- 3:28Speaker 7: Of the best best kind.
- 3:29Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 8: I was noticed in the standings that Ceason out you
- 3:32Speaker 8: and I are like neck and neck, like one.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So weird because two weeks ago I thought I lost
- 3:38Speaker 1: every game, and I ended up going fourteen and six.
- 3:41Speaker 1: This last week, I'm thinking I'm on the front row.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I think I'm thinking all these games. I think I'm
- 3:47Speaker 1: like seventeen and three. I have the best week of
- 3:49Speaker 1: the year, and I get ceases thing today and I'm
- 3:52Speaker 1: ten and ten. Where those seven other seven.
- 3:55Speaker 7: Losses come from?
- 3:56Speaker 8: Well, I think three and one in the high schools
- 3:59Speaker 8: and four to one and then, which shows you how
- 4:01Speaker 8: little I know about the colleges.
- 4:02Speaker 7: Oh my gosh, I'm in such a place, you know.
- 4:05Speaker 7: I'm hurrying to get everything done and dah da da,
- 4:08Speaker 7: And of course I have Rick and Crystal both grade them.
- 4:12Speaker 7: And Rick sends me my deal and he goes, hey,
- 4:13Speaker 7: you're tied with the dog. I go seven to thirteen.
- 4:19Speaker 7: I start thinking about the games. Now, Yeah, I know
- 4:23Speaker 7: I got more net, right, That's what I did. And
- 4:25Speaker 7: then I went and looked at my picks in the paper.
- 4:29Speaker 7: You know, I said I never checked my own picks. Well,
- 4:31Speaker 7: those weren't the pics I wrote down. I have everybody
- 4:34Speaker 7: check all the picks, and I go, I didn't pick Pomark.
- 4:37Speaker 7: You know, you know, it's like, and I didn't do this,
- 4:39Speaker 7: and I go, I gotta play a little closer attention
- 4:42Speaker 7: on my own picks. But you know when you get
- 4:44Speaker 7: so busy and you just take a lot of things
- 4:46Speaker 7: for oh my gosh. But be quite honest, I should
- 4:49Speaker 7: have been at least ten and ten. I shouldn't be
- 4:51Speaker 7: tied with the dog.
- 4:53Speaker 8: Well, in chips standings, I'm tied with Terrence Murphy.
- 4:57Speaker 4: So yeah, me and Murphy tied.
- 5:00Speaker 9: There you go.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Well, I've had a at least I'm consistent.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Nowhere near the lead.
- 5:05Speaker 7: Oh no, no, no, I've had a terrible year.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It's just absolutely terrible.
- 5:09Speaker 7: I hate to say this. Every is the last couple
- 5:11Speaker 7: of years as you get old. Last year ago, on
- 5:14Speaker 7: noon Hipp's picks, I did them. I've got to doing
- 5:16Speaker 7: them second week. Yeah, there's a lot of that.
- 5:19Speaker 10: This year.
- 5:19Speaker 7: I said, okay, Dad did the same day. I go like,
- 5:23Speaker 7: how can you be so stupid? And I hate to
- 5:26Speaker 7: say this price it. It's like I get behind and
- 5:29Speaker 7: I had like those things you got to vote for,
- 5:31Speaker 7: and I go, oh, gotta vote by this one.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Oh you know what I did.
- 5:35Speaker 7: I forgot. I forgot the vote for one.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Okay, So I'm looking and I knew I had looked ahead,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and it's like Maxwell maybe eat of the Maxwell Lombardy. Right,
- 5:45Speaker 1: So the picks were due at noon Eastern time Sunday
- 5:49Speaker 1: morning on one of these awards, not all of them,
- 5:51Speaker 1: but one of them, and I went, oh, I'll have
- 5:54Speaker 1: to remember that.
- 5:55Speaker 7: Well that was stupid.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Well, so at noon I'm looking at my I'm scrolling
- 6:00Speaker 1: through and they're going, hey, last day to vote, last
- 6:02Speaker 1: chance to vote. Well, I knew I was past deadline.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I mean, they let me vote and I don't know. Well,
- 6:10Speaker 1: I mean normally you get in there and go I'm sorry,
- 6:12Speaker 1: the voting's closed.
- 6:13Speaker 9: Right.
- 6:13Speaker 7: That happened to me today.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Yeah, well, the idiot I got. I got to vote,
- 6:19Speaker 1: but I don't know if it counts or not.
- 6:20Speaker 7: A good point.
- 6:22Speaker 8: I mean, come on, I like Ceasars picks because it
- 6:25Speaker 8: make you look up like Division three teams I've never
- 6:27Speaker 8: heard of, and I'm like.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Really when he puts Salisbury on there.
- 6:31Speaker 7: That was the end of my season. This is the deal, Like,
- 6:35Speaker 7: we all have a lot to do, and I'm doing
- 6:37Speaker 7: all this and we're trying to do two days editions
- 6:39Speaker 7: like in two So make a long story short. I
- 6:43Speaker 7: always lot. People love my horror stories. I go to
- 6:45Speaker 7: bed last night about Oh, I go, I gotta go
- 6:47Speaker 7: to bed early today. So two fifteen, I said, I
- 6:49Speaker 7: gotta go to bed. So I get ready to go.
- 6:51Speaker 7: I look at my dogs. I go, I didn't vote
- 6:53Speaker 7: on my women's poll and and the Women's Talk twenty
- 6:55Speaker 7: five and it's doing Monday. Grab the computer, cranked it up,
- 7:00Speaker 7: and the dogs looking like you're an idiot. Yep, Yeah,
- 7:03Speaker 7: but I got my voting on time. Oh my god,
- 7:06Speaker 7: that's all that matters. Oh my gosh.
- 7:09Speaker 4: The Life of Sorts Rider people only knew.
- 7:11Speaker 7: We just you know, it's like, what can I say? Yeah,
- 7:14Speaker 7: but we love it. Come on, let's be honest. Uh,
- 7:16Speaker 7: you wouldn't be going to bed at two fifteen if
- 7:18Speaker 7: you didn't. Alberts was pretty funny today. Is that guy
- 7:21Speaker 7: a politician? Sometimes?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Gosh, holy he he could run for office somewhere.
- 7:27Speaker 7: I tell my wife went to lunch after that I said.
- 7:29Speaker 7: You know, I said, if you just walked in sometime
- 7:31Speaker 7: and you're up to you would never know that guy
- 7:34Speaker 7: was a linebacker in high school and college NFL. I mean,
- 7:38Speaker 7: he's so polished. Uh and he he asked. Don't get
- 7:41Speaker 7: me wrong, he answers a lot of questions, but a
- 7:43Speaker 7: lot of times he says, had a great question that
- 7:44Speaker 7: he didn't answer, not the way we wanted to answer.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah, not the way we would Hey, but did you
- 7:52Speaker 1: think did you think Elko was a little uh okay
- 7:56Speaker 1: short today?
- 7:57Speaker 7: Okay, that's I'm actually by leaving my call them off
- 8:00Speaker 7: that which I chuckle at. I thought that's the way
- 8:03Speaker 7: he was last year in Texas. And what I my point.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Being is, which I don't remember that which I'm.
- 8:08Speaker 7: Trying to come across, is because he's so focused, he's
- 8:11Speaker 7: thinking all about Texas. He doesn't want to disrespect and
- 8:14Speaker 7: that's that's what I came, I want to res disrespect
- 8:16Speaker 7: our questions. Yeah, yeah, because once again I read until
- 8:19Speaker 7: somebody asked him a question one time, and I think,
- 8:22Speaker 7: you know, he had that like really in his mind,
- 8:25Speaker 7: you know, but he answered the question because he's thinking
- 8:28Speaker 7: about so much thing about the game. What he has
- 8:31Speaker 7: to do.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I think you're right, he's minded. He ended about five
- 8:35Speaker 1: questions today sees after short answers, but they're a good for.
- 8:39Speaker 8: Usually usually the things almost done at two o'clock. He
- 8:43Speaker 8: was done like one eight today.
- 8:44Speaker 7: It was fourteen minutes. It was about six to seven
- 8:47Speaker 7: minutes shorter than normal.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and he would not And you know, he was
- 8:50Speaker 1: funny when he when he said, uh, when they asked
- 8:54Speaker 1: about Craver and Ruben Owens, he goes, so, these guys
- 8:57Speaker 1: are awesome.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Asked for their Hell yeah.
- 9:00Speaker 7: Yeah, those guys are awesome. I love that answer. But
- 9:03Speaker 7: somebody asked him a legitimate.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Question about arch Manning about his development, and he went
- 9:10Speaker 1: for about fifteen seconds and then they got a good
- 9:14Speaker 1: football team.
- 9:15Speaker 7: And that was about three or four ways. He ended
- 9:19Speaker 7: his questions that they got a good football team. But
- 9:21Speaker 7: I once again is leedless to say, this is a
- 9:24Speaker 7: guy who forgets to vote and do all this. But
- 9:26Speaker 7: I remember him, and I like to use the word focused.
- 9:29Speaker 7: I mean yeah, but yet you could see that pen
- 9:31Speaker 7: degree working in the fact that he does a disrespected question.
- 9:35Speaker 7: He takes your question, he answers it to the best
- 9:37Speaker 7: of his knowledge, but he's got bigger fish to fry then.
- 9:41Speaker 7: And I love Rob Hayes, love him to death. But
- 9:44Speaker 7: ask a question about the volleyball team tight and you
- 9:47Speaker 7: can see elcho like just and he answered it. But yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 7: just brutal. Yeah, you know what, bigger fish.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I made that phone call. Yeah, we talked every day.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, like no, come on, man, Yeah, I'll be
- 9:59Speaker 1: watching every minute tonight and calling him afterwards.
- 10:04Speaker 4: I left that loud and I heard that question.
- 10:08Speaker 8: But you know, it's one thing because Okay, if he
- 10:10Speaker 8: wants to bring it up, he's gonna bring it up
- 10:12Speaker 8: before he was opening for us.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I mean that's what he does a lot, he does.
- 10:17Speaker 8: Yeah, but he didn't bring anything really, I mean it
- 10:20Speaker 8: was straight to the players.
- 10:21Speaker 7: Yeah, should be please because if he's that focus, you.
- 10:27Speaker 8: Know, it's so funny because I was listening to him
- 10:30Speaker 8: today thinking about, man, how far has this had times
- 10:35Speaker 8: come from the old you know days where you had
- 10:38Speaker 8: the players come in there at Kane Hall and you
- 10:42Speaker 8: had Lance Tichleman coming in here and just snorting.
- 10:45Speaker 4: I hate those sundays.
- 10:47Speaker 7: We're going to Yeah, this guy's name Hagar, Yeah exactly.
- 10:53Speaker 8: Yeah, and even all the way up to Jason Glenn.
- 10:56Speaker 8: He talked about I will tell you.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And I think there's a reason for this because they
- 11:00Speaker 1: didn't play for thirteen years, right, right, they'd have played
- 11:04Speaker 1: for thirteen years. I think you'd have seen a lot
- 11:06Speaker 1: more of that. And it'll be interesting tomorrow cease when
- 11:09Speaker 1: the seniors come.
- 11:10Speaker 7: Okay, but I'm chuckling. Adams and Lee are not Texas, right?
- 11:15Speaker 9: They know?
- 11:16Speaker 10: No?
- 11:16Speaker 1: And Mark, I think it was Marco Jones, didn't. They
- 11:18Speaker 1: bring him into the interview room and they ask him
- 11:21Speaker 1: about the rivalry and he goes, well, to be real
- 11:23Speaker 1: honest with you, what he knew about it? He said, Well,
- 11:26Speaker 1: but be real honest with you, I didn't know much
- 11:29Speaker 1: about it, but I know it's a big deal. It's
- 11:32Speaker 1: kind of how he ended it, you know. And so
- 11:34Speaker 1: there's some of that. You've got players from all over
- 11:37Speaker 1: the nation that didn't grow up playing high school football
- 11:40Speaker 1: here and knowing about this game. But even if they did,
- 11:43Speaker 1: these guys they weren't playing football then, right.
- 11:46Speaker 8: The first A and M Texas game that I truly covered,
- 11:49Speaker 8: I was working at the Gallasondale News is nineteen ninet
- 11:52Speaker 8: two and it was like eighty degrees when I left galveson.
- 11:55Speaker 8: So I short sleeves shirt on driving to Austin. It's
- 11:58Speaker 8: dropped about forty five. Oh my gosh, and I don't
- 12:01Speaker 8: have jacket on, and I'm staying. You know, I get
- 12:04Speaker 8: there real early, so I can't do lunch anywhere. So
- 12:08Speaker 8: my friend of mine, you know, gives me a key
- 12:10Speaker 8: to his apartment. He's got a can of tuna but
- 12:12Speaker 8: no opener. So that's what I had for lunch. But
- 12:17Speaker 8: I remember very vividly being down on the sideline with
- 12:20Speaker 8: Homer and just freezing because it was so cold when
- 12:23Speaker 8: Aaron Glenn stuffed in front of that pass and you know,
- 12:25Speaker 8: like ninety yards and then.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Finished twelve and oh yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 8: And I remember asking Aaron Glenn when if you know,
- 12:32Speaker 8: he was at the game. He was like, yeah, yeah,
- 12:34Speaker 8: And I had back back at Kane Holidays. You could
- 12:37Speaker 8: get those guys on the side right, absolutely, right, and
- 12:39Speaker 8: that's where you got the best one on one absolutely,
- 12:42Speaker 8: And so I like kind of like set it up
- 12:44Speaker 8: for Aaron and he's like, I said, were you there
- 12:46Speaker 8: when when your brother?
- 12:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah. Those fans I couldn't.
- 12:50Speaker 7: Stand them then. I can't stand it now.
- 12:53Speaker 4: It's just that's this kind of stuff you get going,
- 12:55Speaker 4: you know, well.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And it will be mostly like that. Again, there's no question,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and I'm not.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Saying it five years from now.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it will take some more time.
- 13:04Speaker 4: I really do.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I think you'll have to cycle through a couple of
- 13:08Speaker 1: players years. These guys in the high school now that
- 13:12Speaker 1: will be coming. They'll understand that by the time they
- 13:15Speaker 1: get here, right, But I don't know how many, especially
- 13:21Speaker 1: of course he had of state players and all of
- 13:23Speaker 1: that I did, Like Amaric Daniels said, well, you know what,
- 13:27Speaker 1: I grew up as Miami in Florida State, he said.
- 13:32Speaker 1: But no, he said, but this is a hundred times better.
- 13:34Speaker 7: Oh wow, And I think what's also going to happen.
- 13:38Speaker 7: You're absolutely correct. These kids didn't grow up. They're not
- 13:41Speaker 7: infatuated with it like everybody else is in the States
- 13:44Speaker 7: that's lived here in the last ten, fifteen or more
- 13:46Speaker 7: years of their lifetime. But what will help facilitate it
- 13:50Speaker 7: is if A and M goes in beats Texas, so
- 13:52Speaker 7: that way they've each won one game, and there you
- 13:55Speaker 7: got to beat somebody, because a lot of times I
- 13:57Speaker 7: can remember was it Penders or whatever? This is won
- 14:00Speaker 7: like so many basketball games in a row. It wasn't
- 14:02Speaker 7: a rivalry anymore because until you lose something, and right
- 14:06Speaker 7: now is I was talking to Brian Davis as he
- 14:08Speaker 7: walked out, Hey, how about this for something. If A
- 14:10Speaker 7: and M beats Texas on Friday and Texas goes ahead
- 14:13Speaker 7: and loses again, they could be eight and five and
- 14:15Speaker 7: it could be reversed. You talk about trading places. A
- 14:18Speaker 7: and M always had.
- 14:19Speaker 8: Those, and we said before you got here, it was
- 14:21Speaker 8: very much opposite last year because A and M is
- 14:24Speaker 8: three this year, Texas was three. Last year, AM had
- 14:27Speaker 8: a long shot to get in the playoffs by upsett
- 14:29Speaker 8: in Texas.
- 14:30Speaker 4: And it's the same way this year.
- 14:31Speaker 7: And you think Texas was everybody thought Texas would go
- 14:34Speaker 7: to the College Football Playoff the third straight time. It
- 14:37Speaker 7: would be a lock. They could be eight and five,
- 14:39Speaker 7: you know, but I get it. If they also beat
- 14:41Speaker 7: A and M they could still possibly get in. But
- 14:43Speaker 7: once again, when you take something away from your rival,
- 14:47Speaker 7: you win, it's great. But if you also take something
- 14:49Speaker 7: away from your rival. Look at that's why Clemson in
- 14:52Speaker 7: South Carolina big win last year for South Carolina. When
- 14:55Speaker 7: you beat your rival and take something away from them,
- 14:58Speaker 7: like for example, this George's probably you know, got a
- 15:01Speaker 7: great season, but I Tech Georgia Tech could beat them,
- 15:04Speaker 7: Oh my gosh. I mean that would be so huge
- 15:06Speaker 7: for them.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Oh, no doubt, especially after they laid an egg. And
- 15:09Speaker 1: I'm just I was watching the game Saturday night and
- 15:12Speaker 1: I'm you know, I've told you all year, Haines King
- 15:15Speaker 1: is my man. He was going to be in my
- 15:18Speaker 1: top three Heisman voting. Uh and and I'm willing him
- 15:22Speaker 1: and that you know, they get way down and then
- 15:24Speaker 1: he brings them right back there and they threw the
- 15:27Speaker 1: pick six and that was the ball game.
- 15:29Speaker 7: And that that that.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Away watching the exact same thing that did away with
- 15:34Speaker 1: their playoffs, that did away with this heisman. I mean,
- 15:36Speaker 1: there was a lot of stuff on the line with
- 15:39Speaker 1: that one play.
- 15:40Speaker 7: You're right, and I didn't know.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Heartbroken, heartbroken.
- 15:44Speaker 7: I got home, got home doing Spindadaga. The wife turned
- 15:47Speaker 7: just to turn the TV Georgia Texas game now because
- 15:50Speaker 7: when I got back, yea, yeah, it was, it was.
- 15:52Speaker 7: And that interception around unbelievable, and you know, the beauty
- 15:58Speaker 7: of sports. So many people people were rooting for him
- 16:01Speaker 7: because he came so far after where he was. I
- 16:04Speaker 7: just love his demeanor.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I love his edge. I love his competitive spirit. Even
- 16:08Speaker 1: at that game, even after that he is fighting. Man,
- 16:12Speaker 1: he takes him down, they score a touchdown.
- 16:15Speaker 11: Right.
- 16:16Speaker 7: Uh, But I was just I.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Was really upset that he threw that pick the beauty
- 16:23Speaker 1: of sports.
- 16:23Speaker 7: He had so much there at his fingertips and his
- 16:27Speaker 7: and his school.
- 16:28Speaker 8: So speaking of it was not as bad as the
- 16:30Speaker 8: pick that Arkansas threw.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Oh my god, that thing was what.
- 16:35Speaker 7: That that got that got Taylor Green benched?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah, now they said it.
- 16:42Speaker 7: Shoot, I'm going Oh.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I saw a Petreno come over to him at the bench,
- 16:48Speaker 1: and I think that's when he told him.
- 16:50Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure.
- 16:51Speaker 8: Do y'all remember Brandon Stewart against Louisiana Lafayette where he
- 16:56Speaker 8: threw the little shuttle pass straight to the defensive lineman.
- 17:00Speaker 8: That's what memories came back of that.
- 17:03Speaker 7: That was awful.
- 17:03Speaker 4: It was terrible.
- 17:04Speaker 1: It was just awful, Like, what are you thinking? And
- 17:07Speaker 1: he should know that was a ball game. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 1: he should know better. Yeah, there's no doubt. So what
- 17:14Speaker 1: does Mars besides win the game? What does Marcell need
- 17:18Speaker 1: to do to get all the talking ends talking about
- 17:23Speaker 1: him cease as a possible Heisman Trophy winner.
- 17:26Speaker 7: Well Elcho touched on it as far as why their
- 17:29Speaker 7: offense to me is so good, so many explosive plays,
- 17:32Speaker 7: and why do they have explosive plays because they's got
- 17:35Speaker 7: Craver in concept.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And Craver's awesome, by the way, but you got to
- 17:41Speaker 1: have those splash play.
- 17:43Speaker 7: But I was watching the things come in last night
- 17:45Speaker 7: and I go, well, I'll be I'll be interested to
- 17:48Speaker 7: see what the talking is because Pabia had a big
- 17:50Speaker 7: game and you can say, well, I'm gonna tell you.
- 17:52Speaker 7: I'll say it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: He's moved way up in my in my poll because
- 17:56Speaker 1: starting the second half against Texas, these last three games,
- 17:59Speaker 1: he has been unreal. And I don't care about the opposition.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I don't care about any of that. He has been phenomenal, phenomenal.
- 18:09Speaker 4: You know what.
- 18:10Speaker 8: The thing that I think Marcill has to do because
- 18:13Speaker 8: even on Saturday, I thought he came out too hyped
- 18:17Speaker 8: up and he was overthrowing passes. So for the last
- 18:20Speaker 8: two weeks he's come out made some really bad throws
- 18:24Speaker 8: and you know, against Sanford it didn't hurt him, but
- 18:28Speaker 8: I mean he has.
- 18:29Speaker 4: To come out straight from the start.
- 18:31Speaker 8: Lower his passes because that's gonna kill him if if
- 18:36Speaker 8: and falls behind, you know, two touchdowns to Texas in Austin,
- 18:39Speaker 8: that's gonna be a really hard thing to overcome.
- 18:42Speaker 7: I think you hit on a chip. I mean there's
- 18:44Speaker 7: such closeness between you know, when you look at the
- 18:48Speaker 7: high State quarterback, you look at the Indiana quarterback and
- 18:52Speaker 7: read and now you throw a pobby in it. So
- 18:55Speaker 7: you can now jeremih Love's moved up seas he's moved out.
- 19:00Speaker 7: So but you can have pluses, but you also can
- 19:02Speaker 7: have minuses. Just avoid the minuses. The Haines King picked
- 19:05Speaker 7: six can't do it. And I'm with you, Russ. That's
- 19:07Speaker 7: two weeks in a row. UH Reads come out and
- 19:11Speaker 7: he hasn't started well, and everybody goes, oh what about
- 19:14Speaker 7: You know, he came back in the second half and
- 19:16Speaker 7: against UH Carolina And I told somebody, well, you know,
- 19:21Speaker 7: when when you're the bully in the class, so to speak,
- 19:26Speaker 7: and the weakest kid starts beating you up.
- 19:29Speaker 8: Well, this is one of those games where the entire
- 19:32Speaker 8: nation of college football fans is going to shut the
- 19:35Speaker 8: start right for the start, all right, So he's got
- 19:38Speaker 8: a chance to impress right from the start. He's got
- 19:41Speaker 8: to lower those passes. Every time I see the high passes,
- 19:44Speaker 8: I think he's too amped up. He's just a little
- 19:46Speaker 8: too amped up.
- 19:47Speaker 7: Luckily, he threw the one bad pass so bad that
- 19:51Speaker 7: the guy couldn't intercept it. So that's a bad thing.
- 19:55Speaker 7: But you but talking about Haines King, it's it's there.
- 19:59Speaker 7: It's there for these us, whether you talk want to
- 20:01Speaker 7: put Reid out there or what's they have a big game,
- 20:07Speaker 7: you know you win a big game if he goes
- 20:09Speaker 7: it goes beats Ohio State and it scores four touchdowns.
- 20:12Speaker 7: If if Reed accounts for three touchdowns and beats Texas
- 20:17Speaker 7: at and puts him in the SEC talker game, he's
- 20:20Speaker 7: gonna shoot way up.
- 20:21Speaker 8: Well, if he fled out out plays Arch and you
- 20:24Speaker 8: know he leads this team to victory.
- 20:26Speaker 4: I mean, that's a huge Feathers Cap.
- 20:28Speaker 8: There's this is one of those years where there's just
- 20:30Speaker 8: absolutely no clear cut leader for the Hosband Trophy.
- 20:33Speaker 1: It's it's man, it is up for grabs.
- 20:36Speaker 7: There's no doubt.
- 20:37Speaker 8: I mean, like you said, I mean in one game,
- 20:40Speaker 8: in one play, one guy.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Went from a contender.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I mean it's either a Heisman moment or it's not
- 20:47Speaker 1: a heisman, right, right, that was not a hes How
- 20:50Speaker 1: concerned are you guys about the kicking game in a
- 20:52Speaker 1: game that might be close? When I say kicking, I'm
- 20:57Speaker 1: just talking about I'm not talking about them casey concepts
- 21:01Speaker 1: you own because he could get loose and that could
- 21:03Speaker 1: be a game change.
- 21:04Speaker 7: Right, I'd say you're very concerned if you're a Naggy fan,
- 21:08Speaker 7: because last week Elko said Bond was their guy moving forward. Yes,
- 21:13Speaker 7: So then they rolled out Saturday and here comes Zirkle.
- 21:17Speaker 7: So the point being is they obviously weren't on board
- 21:21Speaker 7: or else. Zirkle beat him out and then he misses
- 21:24Speaker 7: the first field goal that should be made. So once
- 21:27Speaker 7: again is last year he was twenty two out of
- 21:30Speaker 7: twenty six. He was basically automatic. There's nothing automatic about
- 21:33Speaker 7: A and M this year and field goals, And you
- 21:36Speaker 7: gotta be concerned going on the road.
- 21:38Speaker 8: Well, and it's way beyond this one game. I mean,
- 21:41Speaker 8: you're I feel like I'm watching the team to baseball nowogy.
- 21:45Speaker 8: I feel like I'm watching a team with a great
- 21:47Speaker 8: offense and a great starting pitching staff, but a very
- 21:49Speaker 8: questionable bullpen. Like if you're gonna go into the playoffs,
- 21:53Speaker 8: and you're gonna win. If you need to win four
- 21:55Speaker 8: games in the playoffs, one of those games is gonna
- 21:58Speaker 8: come down here.
- 21:58Speaker 7: You're gonna have to have a kick.
- 21:59Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean I I'd be shocked if one of
- 22:02Speaker 8: those games didn't come down to you having to make
- 22:05Speaker 8: a field goal.
- 22:06Speaker 4: And if he's Friday night, it could be.
- 22:09Speaker 8: And if they're running, you know, guy out there, my
- 22:12Speaker 8: confidence level is not.
- 22:15Speaker 4: At it all time high.
- 22:15Speaker 7: I mean, so sometimes I's.
- 22:17Speaker 8: Be like watching one of the Rangers closers last year
- 22:19Speaker 8: go out there hand you know, my hand over my.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Face kind of things like is this going to get done?
- 22:24Speaker 7: I mean, it's all this Chapman thing exactly.
- 22:27Speaker 10: Yes.
- 22:28Speaker 7: Well, the average fan don't understand what goes into this now,
- 22:32Speaker 7: because suddenly, if Elko and Kline have a third and seven,
- 22:38Speaker 7: they've got a great field goalkicker. They go, well, we'll
- 22:41Speaker 7: just running off tackle, or we'll do this, ye if
- 22:43Speaker 7: we don't get it, we'll kick three points.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 7: Now they're going to say, well, let's go and take
- 22:46Speaker 7: a chance on a pass and then it gets intercepted
- 22:48Speaker 7: and you go, well, that has nothing to.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Do or cease or cease that. They say, hey, it's
- 22:54Speaker 1: it's third and four. You know, from the thirty five.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Let's run it twice. You know we're gonna We're going
- 23:01Speaker 1: it's yeah's fourth down, right, So you have to figure
- 23:05Speaker 1: out where that four down territory is. I said, the
- 23:08Speaker 1: thirty five. That's a fifty two yard field goal, so right,
- 23:11Speaker 1: you better get it inside the thirty In my mind, right,
- 23:16Speaker 1: that's four down territory.
- 23:18Speaker 7: If you're not inside.
- 23:19Speaker 4: I'm just amazed. As much college football as we all watch, right,
- 23:23Speaker 4: i mean, how how many times coaches just roll the
- 23:26Speaker 4: dice on fourth down anymore?
- 23:27Speaker 7: I mean, it's it's so mighty athlete syndrome.
- 23:30Speaker 8: It has changed so much, like three to four years, yes,
- 23:35Speaker 8: because I mean, I'm sure teams are punting least. I
- 23:38Speaker 8: was listening, no doubt to the NFL broadcast the other day,
- 23:41Speaker 8: the Cowboys, and they're yesterday and they're talking about how
- 23:44Speaker 8: this is the lowest punting in the history of the
- 23:47Speaker 8: NFL because so many coaches just roll the dice on
- 23:49Speaker 8: fourth down.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I'm looking at the rake I would see, said, I'm
- 23:52Speaker 1: looking at the number of punts, and you know they
- 23:55Speaker 1: have the ten guys, they have their stats, and I'm
- 23:57Speaker 1: going man, some of these guys have only punted twy
- 24:00Speaker 1: any time they played ten games.
- 24:02Speaker 7: Yeah, and they're going to have to lower because I
- 24:04Speaker 7: think it's like two point six per game that you
- 24:06Speaker 7: have to have a minimum to be in the instituble,
- 24:09Speaker 7: a ran, what have you. And you know, it just
- 24:12Speaker 7: changed the game. But they don't realize how much the
- 24:16Speaker 7: kicking influence these coaches and so suddenly, no question, bad
- 24:20Speaker 7: kicking influences the way they call it. And sometimes you go, oh,
- 24:23Speaker 7: that's great, they went forth and fourth and got it,
- 24:25Speaker 7: but sometimes it's not always.
- 24:26Speaker 8: Well in this particular game, it really concerns you because
- 24:31Speaker 8: I mean Texas defense is really good. I mean there's
- 24:34Speaker 8: no doubt about it. I mean it's it's a their
- 24:37Speaker 8: offense I think is up and down. I mean I
- 24:39Speaker 8: think they're getting better, but quite frankly, that defense is
- 24:43Speaker 8: still really really good.
- 24:45Speaker 4: And I don't.
- 24:46Speaker 8: Feel comfortable, you know, going for fourth and three. You know,
- 24:49Speaker 8: I mean that's just like Lee, that's a that's a
- 24:51Speaker 8: long way to go. Yeah, no, I guess that that defense.
- 24:55Speaker 7: But when you have.
- 24:57Speaker 1: When you have a quarterback with those electric skills, it's
- 25:01Speaker 1: not as long as fourth and twelve visits I want
- 25:04Speaker 1: a ball in his hand. And I continue to watch
- 25:07Speaker 1: football all day Saturday and watch these shotgun snaps to
- 25:14Speaker 1: backs that fumble the ball or throw the ball. And
- 25:18Speaker 1: you have a quarterback that the ball is in his
- 25:21Speaker 1: hands ninety percent of the game, and you're going to
- 25:24Speaker 1: put it to somebody else's And we've talked about that
- 25:26Speaker 1: all year.
- 25:26Speaker 8: I want I want to see no more wildcat from
- 25:28Speaker 8: Texas A. And now, oh the wildcat sucks. I mean
- 25:31Speaker 8: unless you have a Borcherker he could do it. Yeah,
- 25:35Speaker 8: Bark Bark could do it. Yeah, well I always said,
- 25:39Speaker 8: but I really want to.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Hand the ball off to him. Anyway.
- 25:42Speaker 7: I've never changed change on this, and I tell coaches,
- 25:46Speaker 7: you know what usually gets down to third and three.
- 25:48Speaker 7: I don't care what you call. Just pick it up.
- 25:50Speaker 7: And if you don't, then I'm going to probably criticize
- 25:51Speaker 7: you because that's why you're getting paid six seven million dollars.
- 25:54Speaker 8: There's a reason the single wing went out of business.
- 25:58Speaker 8: All right, let's just say like that, so quit snapping
- 26:01Speaker 8: it to running back.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 26:05Speaker 7: You go back to how Mike Leech has changed the game,
- 26:09Speaker 7: and now Lane Kiffin and all these other guys Uh,
- 26:12Speaker 7: like you said, forget about punting. They'll go for it
- 26:15Speaker 7: on their own side, and you have to you have
- 26:18Speaker 7: to be on the cutting ends.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And then there's Pat Nardoozy but with a two touchdown
- 26:24Speaker 1: lead and time running out in the game, decided to
- 26:28Speaker 1: run a fake punt from his own thirty five yard
- 26:31Speaker 1: line and only missed it by about eight yards and
- 26:36Speaker 1: gave up a touchdown that brought them within one score.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I just, I'm just sometimes these coaches, it's like.
- 26:46Speaker 4: What do you are you thinking? At all?
- 26:48Speaker 7: Yes, he probably is auditioning for hopefully a better job.
- 26:53Speaker 7: He ain't gonna he ain't gonna get it with that.
- 26:55Speaker 7: Ain't gonna get it with that, but he might get
- 26:57Speaker 7: an old mister replace different.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Y'all. Happen to see any of the Notre Dame Syracuse game.
- 27:03Speaker 1: No, No, that game, which I do know, it was
- 27:06Speaker 1: twenty one to nothing before Notre Dame bonds.
- 27:09Speaker 8: They were I saw the time of possession they Notre
- 27:12Speaker 8: Dame had the ball eleven minutes the entire game.
- 27:14Speaker 4: I saw that stat and they scored seventy points.
- 27:17Speaker 7: I saw that stat across the bottom. I go, You've
- 27:19Speaker 7: got to be kidding, very good.
- 27:21Speaker 8: No, But they had forty eight minutes of time possession.
- 27:25Speaker 7: Yeah, and what did they score?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Ten points or nine or something like that. All right,
- 27:29Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna take a break. The writers a

- 31:58Speaker 1: things on the line.
- 31:59Speaker 7: They're just really has it?
- 32:01Speaker 1: No, You're right, the series going ebbs and flows right,
- 32:06Speaker 1: and there just hasn't been there.
- 32:08Speaker 8: There was a game, like you said, I remember covering
- 32:10Speaker 8: the ninety three game here and the Four Star Telegram
- 32:15Speaker 8: guys were I came down the night before and I
- 32:17Speaker 8: was just gonna watch it as a fan. The four
- 32:19Speaker 8: Star tells I was working for the Star Telegram time,
- 32:21Speaker 8: and they slid off the road so many times.
- 32:24Speaker 7: Oh my gosh.
- 32:24Speaker 4: And that was that was the game.
- 32:27Speaker 8: That A and M was going for, you know, I
- 32:29Speaker 8: mean A and M had a really good record. Texas
- 32:31Speaker 8: was five and four, but if they won that game,
- 32:33Speaker 8: they're gonna go to Coton Bowl because because of the
- 32:36Speaker 8: southwas conference and all the tiebreakers and so other than
- 32:40Speaker 8: that game, you know, it's even like the ninety seven
- 32:44Speaker 8: game where A and M won, Texas had no prayer
- 32:48Speaker 8: and then ninety eight when Texas won an M hard
- 32:52Speaker 8: already won the Big twelve West, and so you're right,
- 32:56Speaker 8: so few of those game. Ninety nine was the mo
- 33:00Speaker 8: in some way. That was a great Texas team that
- 33:02Speaker 8: was right after Bonfire fell, but A and M didn't
- 33:04Speaker 8: have anything to win except for the bunch was a lot.
- 33:09Speaker 8: It was huge, yes, but Texas had a lot riding
- 33:12Speaker 8: on that. And then even you know the two thousand
- 33:15Speaker 8: and five game where Texas was going on to win
- 33:18Speaker 8: the NAST Championship.
- 33:19Speaker 4: And then played them close for a while.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Vince Young lost the Heisman that day.
- 33:23Speaker 7: Yeah, Yeah, good point.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right they lost the Heisman that day.
- 33:26Speaker 7: Losing heisman.
- 33:27Speaker 9: Yep.
- 33:27Speaker 8: But you're right, man, there's so few games where they
- 33:31Speaker 8: both got everything on the line.
- 33:32Speaker 7: Yeah, but you're also right, not enough of those games
- 33:35Speaker 7: you don't have a rivalry. Rivalry makes once again, you's
- 33:37Speaker 7: got a lot of steak. And that's why Florida Florida
- 33:40Speaker 7: State was so good. You go back there. They were highlight.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Miami in Florida State, in Florida State because that was.
- 33:46Speaker 7: On the line.
- 33:46Speaker 8: Yeah, eighty nine, A and M lost that game in Austin,
- 33:51Speaker 8: but they could have. Uh or was it ninety ninety?
- 33:55Speaker 8: It was eighty nine or ninety. That was the one
- 33:57Speaker 8: game Texas won in the you know because NIM mid
- 34:01Speaker 8: one nine out of ten, and so there was a
- 34:03Speaker 8: game it was like twenty eight twenty seven over there,
- 34:06Speaker 8: and I think if A and M had won that
- 34:08Speaker 8: they would have won the Southwest Conference. But Texas won
- 34:11Speaker 8: it and they went. Yeah the Holiday Bawl.
- 34:13Speaker 4: That's the year they destroyed BYU.
- 34:16Speaker 7: That was fun.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Ninety ish that was fun. Yeah, remember that.
- 34:20Speaker 1: So I just I think it's it's just gonna it's unfortunately,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's unfortunate. That's that's part of the thirteen
- 34:28Speaker 1: year gap, right, that it's gonna take some time for
- 34:32Speaker 1: the kids to have that intense hatred like you talked
- 34:37Speaker 1: about Rusty, like every high school kid grew up with.
- 34:41Speaker 7: Right, or most high school kids.
- 34:45Speaker 4: You know.
- 34:45Speaker 1: The the other thing you think of is these kids
- 34:48Speaker 1: are moving around all the time too. You're not going
- 34:51Speaker 1: to have you know, tons of kids playing even in
- 34:56Speaker 1: three of these.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Games, right, right, So you.
- 35:00Speaker 1: That builds up as well. Right, you play a team
- 35:03Speaker 1: of fourth it's like the hockey playoffs, right, but you
- 35:05Speaker 1: play a team the fourth time in your career, and
- 35:08Speaker 1: let's say you've you've only won one of them, or
- 35:10Speaker 1: you hadn't won any of them, or you know something
- 35:12Speaker 1: like that.
- 35:13Speaker 7: I mean that that affects things.
- 35:16Speaker 8: Yeah, there's not enough Dan Campbell's out there. Yeah, so
- 35:20Speaker 8: it'll stand up, you know. And of course the bonfire
- 35:23Speaker 8: being gone.
- 35:23Speaker 4: Too, is it? You know a lot of those guys,
- 35:27Speaker 4: so many things have changed.
- 35:28Speaker 8: Yes, in college football, like you said, ship has changed completely,
- 35:32Speaker 8: and you're you're exactly right, And I don't know if
- 35:34Speaker 8: you grow up with hating schools like you used to.
- 35:37Speaker 7: Well, you know what.
- 35:38Speaker 1: The other thing I would say is this, this state,
- 35:42Speaker 1: the demographics of this state are radically different than they
- 35:47Speaker 1: were twenty five years Ageah, you're right, right, And you
- 35:50Speaker 1: have got a lot of people in this state that
- 35:53Speaker 1: don't know anything about this game.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Yeah right, they should.
- 35:57Speaker 7: What exactly what we're growing up?
- 36:01Speaker 1: That's a big deal, right, these are the two state
- 36:04Speaker 1: universities every year.
- 36:05Speaker 7: It's a big deal.
- 36:06Speaker 1: I don't think that's the case with the majority of
- 36:10Speaker 1: Texans anymore.
- 36:11Speaker 8: Well, I think the other thing is that they're not
- 36:13Speaker 8: all in the same league. Right back when it was
- 36:16Speaker 8: the Southwest Conference, You're you were paying attention to every
- 36:19Speaker 8: single thing everything, right, yep, And you lived and died
- 36:23Speaker 8: with every little game. And it's like, you know, you
- 36:25Speaker 8: knew and if you went to school or if you
- 36:27Speaker 8: went to work, I guarantee you there was at least
- 36:29Speaker 8: one person who liked Baylor. There's one person who like
- 36:32Speaker 8: TCU and four who liked Texas, four who liked A
- 36:35Speaker 8: and M.
- 36:36Speaker 4: And so you had to face that person at school
- 36:38Speaker 4: or work. You know, he lost that case.
- 36:41Speaker 1: And I don't think it's the same, not the same, No,
- 36:43Speaker 1: I really don't.
- 36:44Speaker 7: Well, luckily it's come back with two really good games
- 36:46Speaker 7: as well. What's on the on the rod deal? Yes,
- 36:49Speaker 7: second year in a row, and like I said, you
- 36:51Speaker 7: touched on it. A and M's two players are bringing
- 36:53Speaker 7: tomorrow will Lee and Adams. They've both only been here
- 36:56Speaker 7: two years in Texas. But yet now you're going to
- 36:58Speaker 7: look at transfers have a chain to go to Aida
- 37:00Speaker 7: or Texas, so sometimes they go like, hey, I had
- 37:03Speaker 7: a chance to go there. So you're right there. But
- 37:05Speaker 7: the bottom line is as long as there's something riding
- 37:08Speaker 7: on the game for both sides more than a rivalry
- 37:11Speaker 7: like last year and this year, the rivalry will intensify
- 37:15Speaker 7: very quickly.
- 37:16Speaker 1: So again I want to mention that Wednesday, I'm having
- 37:19Speaker 1: a Jay Busby on who wrote a book called Iron
- 37:21Speaker 1: in the Blood on the Alabama Auburn rivalry and some
- 37:26Speaker 1: of the games, and you guys are probably, but we
- 37:30Speaker 1: talked about there hadn't been tons of things a year
- 37:32Speaker 1: after year after year with both both teams having things
- 37:35Speaker 1: riding on it. But in my mind the rivalry is
- 37:40Speaker 1: it's just the rivalry, you know, I mean you win
- 37:43Speaker 1: that game, and that's a huge deal. No matter whether
- 37:47Speaker 1: you're getting in the playoffs, not getting in the playoffs,
- 37:50Speaker 1: winning a championship, not winning a championship, it's still a
- 37:55Speaker 1: big deal.
- 37:56Speaker 7: You're right, Chip, because like last year Michigan Beatlehih State.
- 38:00Speaker 7: You know we lost two or three years, right, but
- 38:02Speaker 7: my Point I High State went won the national chamis.
- 38:04Speaker 7: They did, but they lost to their rideals. They did,
- 38:07Speaker 7: and that's that's a big deal a lot of people.
- 38:09Speaker 7: Even though they won a national championship. That's a big
- 38:11Speaker 7: day Austin, Michigan when you have a rivalry like that,
- 38:14Speaker 7: which Auburn and Alabama does, and it will take long
- 38:17Speaker 7: for A and M and in Texas to get back there.
- 38:20Speaker 7: If someone does win a national championship and lose to
- 38:23Speaker 7: rob me, that's what what sometimes it takes. And these
- 38:27Speaker 7: other rivalries have those kind of games eight as you
- 38:29Speaker 7: guys just talked about, you had to, you know, scratch
- 38:32Speaker 7: off these games that meant something. And A and M
- 38:35Speaker 7: in Texas has played for so long, but first a
- 38:36Speaker 7: long Texas was you know, it was down, it was
- 38:39Speaker 7: it wasn't They've come so far in the last thirty years.
- 38:42Speaker 1: You know, in the most of the nineties, Texas was down.
- 38:44Speaker 1: You know, that was in the nineties.
- 38:47Speaker 7: A and M could help, but the Texas was down
- 38:49Speaker 7: and they weren't ranked. They were bad.
- 38:51Speaker 8: Well you know, and owned that series from eighty four
- 38:55Speaker 8: to the ninety five, yeah, or to ninety four, and
- 38:59Speaker 8: they won nine out of ten. But since that time,
- 39:02Speaker 8: Texas is thirteen to five and the young kid, yeah,
- 39:05Speaker 8: and it was thirteen years in, yeah, exactly. But I mean,
- 39:09Speaker 8: you're you talk about it's just like how many really
- 39:13Speaker 8: meaningful games. Well, I remember, like, you know, A and them.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Beating Texas twice in a row.
- 39:18Speaker 8: You know, they won twelve seven, but that that didn't
- 39:21Speaker 8: get them anywhere.
- 39:22Speaker 4: I mean got them to I think, you know, the
- 39:24Speaker 4: Holiday Bowl.
- 39:25Speaker 8: And then the next year they beat Texas kind of
- 39:28Speaker 8: shockingly at cal Field. Then they immediately fired their head
- 39:30Speaker 8: coach and you know it was that was an Almo
- 39:33Speaker 8: Bowl team or something like So it AM hasn't had
- 39:37Speaker 8: a lot riding on this game until I mean this year.
- 39:40Speaker 8: I mean, they've got to eat a lot riding on
- 39:42Speaker 8: this game.
- 39:43Speaker 7: You think about the Jackie Sheryl era and the AESPN
- 39:47Speaker 7: games and white cowles waving being a night game prime
- 39:51Speaker 7: time really's going to help. As you mentioned, you guys
- 39:54Speaker 7: talked about who wins. I still want that game Saturday
- 39:57Speaker 7: night or Thursday.
- 39:58Speaker 8: I don't want at all, So man memories are watching
- 40:01Speaker 8: that game with Thanksgiving, I mean with Thanksgiving third cold
- 40:04Speaker 8: turkey sandwich.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Right, yeah, absolutely that night. Absolutely all right, We're going
- 40:08Speaker 1: to take a break. The Cowboys Report is presented by

- 40:54Speaker 18: Detroit Lions the following week. With Dallas currently sitting at
- 40:57Speaker 18: four five and one, they are in desperate need of way.
- 41:00Speaker 18: Jerry Jones spoke earlier today about playing three games in
- 41:03Speaker 18: an eleven day span.
- 41:05Speaker 9: Of you know, the quality teams that we're playing these
- 41:08Speaker 9: next three games, the fact that they are in the
- 41:11Speaker 9: time span we're talking about right here really does put
- 41:14Speaker 9: an onus on us. And the bottom line is, I
- 41:19Speaker 9: think that we all feel like if we were going
- 41:22Speaker 9: to go here, let's go here with what we got today.
- 41:24Speaker 9: I like where we are. I like where we are

- 43:22Speaker 11: Zone eleven AM and ninety three point seven FM.
- 43:27Speaker 16: We got to the police officer station. There was a
- 43:29Speaker 16: third possibility that we hadn't even counted upon, and we.
- 43:33Speaker 15: Was both immediately arrested and cuffed.
- 43:36Speaker 16: And I said, Obia, you don't think I can pick
- 43:39Speaker 16: up the garbage with he's hand cuff?
- 43:43Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us. It is the Writer's round
- 43:45Speaker 1: Table for a Monday. We brought to you by Intech
- 43:49Speaker 1: and First Financial Bank. We're with Rusty Person and Robert Sessa.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Which style of game do you guys expect Friday? Do
- 43:56Speaker 1: you think there's gonna be points on the board. A
- 43:59Speaker 1: and m's average a lot of points in conference play.
- 44:02Speaker 7: You know that's a great question, Chip, because you take
- 44:05Speaker 7: things that's.
- 44:06Speaker 4: Why he's not going to answer it.
- 44:07Speaker 7: Right.
- 44:09Speaker 1: You take Texas has a good ball club, you take
- 44:11Speaker 1: things out of what they say, and Alco goes of course,
- 44:14Speaker 1: they'll be a fourth quarter game.
- 44:16Speaker 7: And I'm thinking, you know, what would it take. Texas
- 44:20Speaker 7: had a lot of points last week, but they played
- 44:22Speaker 7: one of the worst defenses, which is Arkansas. I think
- 44:26Speaker 7: it's got to be in the twenties for Texas, high twenties,
- 44:31Speaker 7: low thirties for Texas to wink, and I think A
- 44:34Speaker 7: and M is the capability of making that real problem
- 44:38Speaker 7: for them because they're so explosive. But yet Rusty touched
- 44:41Speaker 7: on this might be one of the best defenses they've
- 44:44Speaker 7: played and has played in the fact that they will
- 44:46Speaker 7: also be at home and they'll be so so into
- 44:49Speaker 7: the game. And I'm thinking, Okay, AEM was at Arkansas.
- 44:52Speaker 7: They didn't have a good defense. Missouri's defense was okay,
- 44:56Speaker 7: pretty good, LSU's defense, Okay, they're missing a couple of people,
- 45:00Speaker 7: and then Notre Dames defense is really good. But it
- 45:02Speaker 7: was early in the year and I don't think people
- 45:03Speaker 7: knew how good A and M was Offensively. You've got
- 45:06Speaker 7: to guard guess Kraver Kid and all that, so I
- 45:09Speaker 7: think this will be a good test for Adam's offense.
- 45:11Speaker 7: Not to answer, I'm not answering your question, but I
- 45:14Speaker 7: think it's gonna be in the low thirties to thirty six.
- 45:17Speaker 4: I got it.
- 45:18Speaker 8: I think this is gonna be one of those games
- 45:20Speaker 8: before you jumped on the air, when you're still in traffic,
- 45:23Speaker 8: I thought, I thought this is gonna be a fourth
- 45:26Speaker 8: quarter game. And I think Texas Texa A and M
- 45:28Speaker 8: pulls away in the fourth quarter because of their physicality.
- 45:31Speaker 8: And I think that this is like thirty one to
- 45:36Speaker 8: twenty one kind of thing.
- 45:38Speaker 7: I had a thirty seven to twenty seven.
- 45:40Speaker 4: Well, we're right on there. Yeah.
- 45:42Speaker 7: I am interested about A and M's physicality because I
- 45:46Speaker 7: know Texas can play defense, and A and m's offensive
- 45:50Speaker 7: line unable to run the ball early against South Carolina
- 45:54Speaker 7: concerns me moving forward because you couldn't catch gauge anything
- 45:58Speaker 7: from Sam Texas came run the ball either.
- 46:01Speaker 8: So I think A and M puts the pressure on
- 46:04Speaker 8: Arch and I think I have to he might make
- 46:06Speaker 8: a mistake that ends up in you know, it could happen.
- 46:10Speaker 1: I mean, I mean that the Texas offensive line has
- 46:13Speaker 1: played much better that they hadn't played A and M's front,
- 46:16Speaker 1: but they played much better the last two and a
- 46:18Speaker 1: half weeks.
- 46:18Speaker 7: They made some changes up there.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Changes no exactly right, but but those changes have made
- 46:24Speaker 1: a difference. They have given him an extra second in
- 46:27Speaker 1: the pocket, which is huge. He's not he's not getting
- 46:29Speaker 1: knocked around. More comfortable, right because he has a little quarterback.
- 46:33Speaker 4: Looks more comfortable with more time, right.
- 46:35Speaker 7: No doubt.
- 46:36Speaker 1: I mean we've seen Marcel reach stand back there for
- 46:38Speaker 1: five six seconds wait for a receiver to clear.
- 46:41Speaker 7: I'm interesting to watch Elko's defensive calls against Sarkissian. What
- 46:46Speaker 7: does he do to make Manning comfortable? I think that's
- 46:49Speaker 7: going to be a big part of the game because
- 46:50Speaker 7: both those coaches are very good at what they do,
- 46:54Speaker 7: and it's going to have a big burying who good.
- 46:56Speaker 8: Yeah, I just think that it bowls down to an
- 46:59Speaker 8: M player in this game because a better team.
- 47:03Speaker 1: So you can't It's the same thing. You can't make
- 47:08Speaker 1: a bad mess, you can't throw a pick sits, you
- 47:11Speaker 1: can't let Ryan Nibblett return a punt seventy yards. You
- 47:15Speaker 1: can't get a punt blocked, which they've had two of
- 47:18Speaker 1: this year, exactly and you can't joink a forty two
- 47:22Speaker 1: yard field goal in the fourth quarter when it's tied
- 47:25Speaker 1: or you need to go ahead or you're down by it.
- 47:28Speaker 8: And yet you say all that thing, and AM had
- 47:31Speaker 8: that punt block, and.
- 47:32Speaker 4: They came back and they won.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Sure, they have consistently, and I've said this repeatedly, good
- 47:39Speaker 1: enough to overcome their mistakes because they are that explosive
- 47:43Speaker 1: on off.
- 47:44Speaker 4: It's like the Notre Name game.
- 47:45Speaker 8: It's like one of the key plays of the entire
- 47:48Speaker 8: season is still Craver coming right back after the block punt, right, yes,
- 47:53Speaker 8: that play.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Like I mean, they they have been good enough to
- 47:58Speaker 1: overcome all those.
- 48:00Speaker 4: And that's what I mean. Craver is awesome.
- 48:03Speaker 1: You look, you look, as coach said so exactly.
- 48:06Speaker 7: You expect him to have the best Jeff Banks one
- 48:08Speaker 7: of the best special teams coach around. He was here
- 48:10Speaker 7: at A and M, so you know he's going to
- 48:12Speaker 7: be have things devised that he thinks going to get returns.
- 48:15Speaker 1: And maybe A and M should start the game with
- 48:18Speaker 1: an on side kick. They didn't see. They didn't seem
- 48:21Speaker 1: to be real prepared for that. A couple of weeks ago.
- 48:24Speaker 4: That was a dagger, right there.
- 48:27Speaker 7: That that uh, that coach over there, he's pretty good.
- 48:30Speaker 1: I think that that Kirby may made Darth Kirby Darth Kirby.
- 48:35Speaker 7: He can make a clap look like a timeout. Yeah exactly.
- 48:39Speaker 8: You know again, I think it's gonna be a good
- 48:41Speaker 8: ball game. I really thought A and M last year.
- 48:44Speaker 4: I thought A and M had to play the perfect
- 48:46Speaker 4: game to beat Texas, and.
- 48:48Speaker 8: Much better last year they were, And I think A
- 48:51Speaker 8: and M is very similar. I think is a better team.
- 48:55Speaker 8: So I think A and M is long. We haven't
- 48:58Speaker 8: seen him play four quarters. But if they play three good,
- 49:00Speaker 8: really good quarters together, I think gonna win this game.
- 49:04Speaker 7: I'm with you, but I also think differences. I don't
- 49:06Speaker 7: think maybe necessarily Texas has to play its best game
- 49:10Speaker 7: and win because if they get some playoffs, they haven't.
- 49:12Speaker 4: Played a great game.
- 49:14Speaker 8: You could you could say the Arkansas second half was
- 49:17Speaker 8: pretty dark.
- 49:18Speaker 1: They played a great first half against Vanderbilt, did right,
- 49:21Speaker 1: and then they played lousy second half, lowsy second half,
- 49:24Speaker 1: and then I mean that they.
- 49:25Speaker 8: Never put it together against Ohio State. Really, I mean
- 49:28Speaker 8: that was that was They.
- 49:29Speaker 7: Weren't tested against Old Rock. You know, I'll call them
- 49:33Speaker 7: was terrible that no offense. You know they're terrible.
- 49:35Speaker 1: That here's a bounced back and possibly yes, I'm just
- 49:39Speaker 1: I'm still shocked to I don't know how they're sitting
- 49:43Speaker 1: here with a chance to talk about special teams.
- 49:46Speaker 7: They've got the best special teams in the defense. I'm
- 49:48Speaker 7: taking half the things I said about I thought that
- 49:54Speaker 7: he was gonna run him out there.
- 49:55Speaker 4: They were running out of town.
- 49:56Speaker 7: They have been actually since the Texas game.
- 49:59Speaker 8: Yeah, they have changed. They bottle up Missouri. Missouri couldn't
- 50:03Speaker 8: do anything quarterback back.
- 50:06Speaker 7: Yeah, that was very impressive what they did to Missouri.
- 50:09Speaker 7: They've they've been good. Yeah.
- 50:10Speaker 1: I thought after what Tennessee did to Florida, and I
- 50:13Speaker 1: know Florida's not great, but you know they went into
- 50:16Speaker 1: Tennessee and won that game.
- 50:17Speaker 7: That was a really impressive win. Oh yeah, consider how
- 50:20Speaker 7: bad and I know Oakahom's I mean, Florida's not a
- 50:22Speaker 7: good team, but Tennessee just went in and had to waite.
- 50:24Speaker 7: I'm thinking like they boat raced them from the first. Yeah, play,
- 50:27Speaker 7: but man, who shows up? You do have to because
- 50:30Speaker 7: they aim didn't show up for half against South Carolina.
- 50:33Speaker 7: I mean, even as good as A and m as
- 50:34Speaker 7: they did not show up in the eleventh tenth game
- 50:37Speaker 7: of the year.
- 50:37Speaker 8: I left the halftime from the A and M game
- 50:39Speaker 8: and they came home and watched the rest that Oklahoma
- 50:42Speaker 8: Missouri game. I watched that really impressed with Oklahoma, very
- 50:45Speaker 8: impressive because I really thought they're doing just enough.
- 50:47Speaker 1: To win offensively, yeah, right, and relying on defensive specialty.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Well, special teams have been really good for them.
- 50:54Speaker 7: Really good. Yeah.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Old Miss Mississippi State is extremely intriguing given everything that's
- 51:00Speaker 1: going on around that, right, and we've seen Mississippi State
- 51:05Speaker 1: they have some players.
- 51:06Speaker 20: Right, then it'll be Texas they should have they could
- 51:10Speaker 20: have been should Yeah, you're right, Yeah, but I don't
- 51:13Speaker 20: know what to expect. You know, I don't either, because
- 51:16Speaker 20: I don't know if you can be the player at
- 51:20Speaker 20: Old Miss. You just have to almost put that out
- 51:23Speaker 20: of your mind if possible.
- 51:24Speaker 4: But how do you do that?
- 51:25Speaker 7: Can you do that?
- 51:26Speaker 4: Yeah? I don't know if you can.
- 51:27Speaker 7: I don't either. See, I don't think you can either.
- 51:30Speaker 7: And I'm thinking, like, man, if Mississippi State there, they're
- 51:32Speaker 7: prying to score an upset because I'm figuring, what is
- 51:36Speaker 7: Kiffin doing if you're going to stay you've got a
- 51:38Speaker 7: chance to go to the college football Playoff and maybe
- 51:41Speaker 7: win a game. If you're going to stay there, why
- 51:43Speaker 7: wouldn't you come out and say that.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Right, that's what everybody behind, That's what I'm.
- 51:47Speaker 7: So you're leaving, you're leaving, You're leaving them high and dry,
- 51:50Speaker 7: and so this that's not a good deal.
- 51:52Speaker 8: Yeah, when when Bear Bryant, when when it broke that
- 51:56Speaker 8: he was leaving an m bad things happened here, you
- 52:00Speaker 8: know what?
- 52:00Speaker 7: You see that all over college football?
- 52:02Speaker 1: You know, Florida was looked like a team without a
- 52:05Speaker 1: coach on Saturday, right, they were, they were sleepwalking. LSU
- 52:10Speaker 1: had to come behind to beat Western Kentucky at home.
- 52:12Speaker 9: Right.
- 52:13Speaker 1: I mean these teams where the coaches are in flux,
- 52:16Speaker 1: they hadn't done real well.
- 52:17Speaker 7: Okay, I get that, but Ole Mission be one of
- 52:20Speaker 7: those teams.
- 52:21Speaker 1: They should not know you one of those teams, but
- 52:22Speaker 1: in fact they are.
- 52:23Speaker 7: And everybody, there's a lot of people would give everything
- 52:26Speaker 7: they have to be where Old Miss is and they're
- 52:28Speaker 7: jacking around do they have a coach or not? And
- 52:31Speaker 7: I gotta blame Kiffin a little bit on that because
- 52:34Speaker 7: Ole Miss got a chance to do something and everybody
- 52:37Speaker 7: doesn't even know if you're sticking around. What's the line
- 52:39Speaker 7: on Alabama? Lawburn? Oh it's do you know?
- 52:43Speaker 4: Cease?
- 52:43Speaker 7: I want to say I kept it on to pick.
- 52:46Speaker 7: I want to say it was like seven and a half. Okay,
- 52:48Speaker 7: that sounds it was a lot.
- 52:50Speaker 1: I thought for a rivalry game, six six, six and
- 52:53Speaker 1: a half.
- 52:53Speaker 7: I thought that was a lot and a half open at.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Three and a half with six and a half, so
- 52:58Speaker 1: a lot of money on Alabama.
- 53:01Speaker 7: I don't know, you know, I saw that. I look
- 53:03Speaker 7: at those lines and I got like, Michigan, Ohio State's
- 53:06Speaker 7: got a ridiculous line, you know, for for really that
- 53:09Speaker 7: was that was check on that one.
- 53:12Speaker 4: Tennessee is minus two and a half against Vandy.
- 53:14Speaker 7: I like Fandy in that game.
- 53:16Speaker 4: That's interesting.
- 53:17Speaker 7: And nine and a half it's Michigan too.
- 53:22Speaker 1: It went to eleven and opened in eleven half.
- 53:25Speaker 7: And went down.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Okay, but that seems like a lot.
- 53:28Speaker 8: It does, especially with the way Michigan has owned Ohio State.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely they should be confident and if they win,
- 53:35Speaker 1: but they're going to go to the Big Ten title
- 53:38Speaker 1: game the Ohio State out of there.
- 53:41Speaker 4: Think about that. I mean, you could change the dynamic
- 53:44Speaker 4: in a harp. Pol.
- 53:45Speaker 8: I mean we've been talking about Ohio State all year
- 53:48Speaker 8: long and you're not being in the Big Ten title game.
- 53:51Speaker 7: That Vandy Tennessee game is interesting to me with you.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I think the way Poppy has been playing, and I
- 53:58Speaker 1: will say again, I like the coaching matchup in this game.
- 54:03Speaker 4: Well yeah, I think give it advantage to Vandy for sure.
- 54:07Speaker 7: If Pavia throws for three fifty in that game, yeah,
- 54:11Speaker 7: I think he goes up, way up, and he's he's
- 54:14Speaker 7: gone up for me. See, I'm telling you I have
- 54:16Speaker 7: him right, you know, right in that group.
- 54:18Speaker 8: Well, I think they absolutely have to I mean any
- 54:22Speaker 8: chance at all for them to get in the playoffs,
- 54:23Speaker 8: they have to.
- 54:24Speaker 4: They have to win this game. Oh sure, yeah, absolutely,
- 54:27Speaker 4: Oh sure they do.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Yeah yeah uh And even then they're probably not going
- 54:31Speaker 1: to probably not.
- 54:32Speaker 7: Right right, but people are gonna be watching. If he
- 54:34Speaker 7: throws for three fifty, you're gonna sae, man, where's this
- 54:36Speaker 7: guy come from? Well, I mean he's been there all along.
- 54:39Speaker 1: But I mean if another team was was like, uh,
- 54:44Speaker 1: they're nine to two right now.
- 54:45Speaker 4: Yeah, ten and two in the C and you still
- 54:50Speaker 4: it'll be hard to get in.
- 54:51Speaker 1: And the losses were to Alabama, which is very close
- 54:55Speaker 1: in Texas, yep, which is very close YEP.
- 54:58Speaker 7: With the SEC wants it's a small NF five team
- 55:03Speaker 7: is gonna maybe get in.
- 55:04Speaker 4: I don't remember who asked the question.
- 55:06Speaker 8: Maybe it was Alex today about you know, hey, what
- 55:08Speaker 8: does it say that you have to be perfect to
- 55:10Speaker 8: get to the title game. It's the SEC, you know, Yeah,
- 55:13Speaker 8: I mean you can't. You can't use his game still
- 55:17Speaker 8: get the title game.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Which is crazy, and it is you go in eleven
- 55:20Speaker 1: and oh, you've had a historic year.
- 55:22Speaker 7: You lose one game, You're out of the title game.
- 55:25Speaker 8: If I'm Georgia, I'm saying, hey, man, I want to
- 55:29Speaker 8: see an M and Alabama and the SEC title game.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Y'all go, y'all beat each other up?
- 55:33Speaker 7: Maybe exactly. Kirby will keep clapping her whole time out.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I don't care if Georgia is in the title game
- 55:39Speaker 1: or out of the title game. I like Georgia a
- 55:42Speaker 1: lot going deep into this tournament.
- 55:45Speaker 8: And so I was like, I would You're going to
- 55:47Speaker 8: get to buy one way or another, you know, for Georgia.
- 55:50Speaker 4: Yes, So I don't know.
- 55:52Speaker 8: I wouldn't be surprised if he's like silently going hey, y'all,
- 55:56Speaker 8: y'all beat each other up.
- 55:57Speaker 1: I would stayed eating three St. John's eighty two. Gentlemen,
