- 0:03Speaker 1: Hey, welcome to week one of Chandler's podcast for the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Mic Drop Comedy Podcast Network. This is the week one
- 0:22Speaker 1: and we're going to be introducing you to the hosts again.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We've already done, if you've been listening, you've already heard Camille's,
- 0:28Speaker 1: you've already heard mine, and Jenny is going to be
- 0:30Speaker 1: coming up next for Laughs Unlimited. But today we have
- 0:34Speaker 1: a very, very funny lady who has a ton of
- 0:38Speaker 1: good backstory. And she only told me a piece of it,
- 0:41Speaker 1: so we're probably going to get to know her even more.
- 0:44Speaker 1: We'll even get to know how to pronounce her name correctly.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And let me see if I get this right. Sari.
- 0:50Speaker 2: You nailed it. Crushed it.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Okay, boom.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Week one, we're off to a good start.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah. It's so funny because I kept saying sorry, sorry,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and then Siri. I know.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It looks like it should be pronounced sorry. So I
- 1:06Speaker 2: kind of answer to, like, any variation. Sarah, Sarai, Siri.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I get all of it. So I'm just like, yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 2: how can I help you?
- 1:19Speaker 1: And Belyak, that's like a– what kind of name is that?
- 1:22Speaker 1: That's very interesting.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It might be, like, Russian. I'm not sure.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Okay. Oh, it's your married name?
- 1:31Speaker 2: No, that's my born name.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Oh, that's your born name. Okay, okay. So what is
- 1:37Speaker 1: your heritage? You don't even know. You're like, I don't
- 1:39Speaker 1: know if it's Russian or something, whatever I am.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it might be like, I think it's Russian. I
- 1:45Speaker 2: don't know what it means. I should have researched. I
- 1:50Speaker 2: didn't know we were diving into family history. Now I'm like, shit,
- 1:53Speaker 2: I'm already blowing this.
- 1:57Speaker 1: No, you're fine. Okay, so you're going to be hosting
- 2:01Speaker 1: Chandler's podcast, but you're not originally from Chandler, though. Wait,
- 2:04Speaker 1: you are. You moved, though, for a minute.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I grew up in Arizona. I lived, like, Phoenix,
- 2:10Speaker 2: Scottsdale area, and then lived in California for a while.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I was in L.A., and then went to school. I
- 2:17Speaker 2: was going to school in Santa Monica and then transferred
- 2:20Speaker 2: up to UC Santa Cruz. So I am a proud
- 2:22Speaker 2: banana slug. And then after I graduated, I came back here,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I thought was going to be temporarily. And I was
- 2:31Speaker 2: hoping to get like a cool job in the Bay Area,
- 2:33Speaker 2: you know, like teaching, I don't know, intermediate hip hop
- 2:38Speaker 2: or something like, I don't know, some cool like nonprofit job.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And I don't know, the job market wasn't great in
- 2:45Speaker 2: like 2012. So I ended up staying here. And I
- 2:50Speaker 2: spent one year in Chicago, but I'm back.
- 2:54Speaker 1: That's interesting that you were Santa Cruz. It's so funny
- 2:58Speaker 1: because it's a pretty area, but it's pretty weird as well.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It is.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It's for sure. It was such a culture shock after
- 3:05Speaker 2: living in LA for, I guess it would have been
- 3:08Speaker 2: six years. My cousin and I were both going to
- 3:13Speaker 2: UC Santa Cruz. I was doing my undergrad and she
- 3:15Speaker 2: was doing her master's and PhD. So we got to
- 3:19Speaker 2: live together and we both had been living in LA
- 3:22Speaker 2: and we were like, the first, it took like several
- 3:26Speaker 2: months to get used to like people just like walking
- 3:28Speaker 2: around barefoot, like drinking out of spaghetti sauce jars and
- 3:34Speaker 2: everything was so chill. Like after being in LA, I
- 3:36Speaker 2: remember like beeping at people like.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Hurry up.
- 3:41Speaker 2: He was walking so slow. And then after a while
- 3:43Speaker 2: I was like, all right, man, chill. Good vibe.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 1: And then, It's so crazy. Cause like, I mean, Lost
- 3:51Speaker 1: Boys was shot up there. The Corey game, Corey Feldman flick,
- 3:54Speaker 1: the vampire flick. And, and then like, there's a lot of, well,
- 3:58Speaker 1: the co-ed serial killer up over there, Ed Kemper. Did
- 4:02Speaker 1: you ever see the Netflix show?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Did you ever see any serial killers there? Probably.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Lots of weirdos there.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Just about.
- 4:13Speaker 2: No, no.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Did you ever see the, the Netflix show Mindhunters? No. Oh,
- 4:18Speaker 1: it's really good. It's, And the guy that depicts Ed
- 4:21Speaker 1: Kemper in it, he plays or he does really well.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But it's pretty much basically the the beginning and the
- 4:26Speaker 1: start of the discovery of the phrase serial killer. You know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: it's it's it's about the CIA or FBI. I can't remember.
- 4:34Speaker 1: But it just it goes into learning that we started
- 4:37Speaker 1: figuring how to profile these people. And he was the
- 4:39Speaker 1: first one to like. open up and tell, tell, tell investigators,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know, what was going on in his brain. So
- 4:45Speaker 1: it's really, it's a crazy flip. David Fincher did it
- 4:48Speaker 1: and they stopped. They did a season two, but they
- 4:51Speaker 1: didn't do a season three. And it's, it's, it's really good.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It's really good. It's really shot really well.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So this was UC Santa Cruz or just Santa Cruz?
- 4:59Speaker 1: UC Santa Cruz. Yeah. The code killer.
- 5:01Speaker 2: He was another, another notch of pride to add to.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Banana slugs.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Because his mom worked for the college. And it's insane.
- 5:13Speaker 1: It's an insane story. He ends up killing his mom
- 5:15Speaker 1: and wearing her head and shit like that. He's nuts.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Well, this is a great start to the Chandler Mic
- 5:21Speaker 2: Drop podcast.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yeah. It's going to be a lot of interesting things.
- 5:25Speaker 1: This is a portion called Get to Know.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Get to Know about serial killers and how to wear
- 5:31Speaker 2: people as a skin suit.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing, though, too, like, because I feel
- 5:35Speaker 1: like comics are, I mean, a lot of us are
- 5:39Speaker 1: interested in that, like, extremely, and I feel that we're
- 5:42Speaker 1: interested in that because we don't possess any of those
- 5:44Speaker 1: type of attributes in our personality. Like, to be a sociopath,
- 5:49Speaker 1: you have to have no emotion at all, like, no feeling. So,
- 5:53Speaker 1: and we're complete opposite spectrum, where we have so much feeling,
- 5:56Speaker 1: we have to tell strangers about what we're thinking and
- 5:59Speaker 1: what we're feeling. So, it's an interesting thing. It's like, everything... uh,
- 6:03Speaker 1: glass or, or, uh, unbreakable.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I think so.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, yeah. Cause like, so Bruce Willis is unbreakable
- 6:11Speaker 1: and then Samuel Jackson is glass or complete opposite sides
- 6:13Speaker 1: of the spectrum. And it's like a comic book esque thing.
- 6:16Speaker 1: It's really good. It's a, one of M. Night Shyamalan's
- 6:19Speaker 1: hits as opposed to Mrs. Yeah. I don't know.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I feel like I've met some comics that could definitely
- 6:23Speaker 2: be serial killers. I don't know. I don't know which
- 6:26Speaker 2: scene you came up in, but I feel like there's
- 6:28Speaker 2: some that definitely have like the drive and the demeanor. Um,
- 6:34Speaker 2: I feel like they would, they would make good serial killers.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. Oh yeah. You started in the desert. So
- 6:40Speaker 1: I get it. It's like heat will make you. Yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 2: The heat. Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I was just saying also too. So you were in
- 6:48Speaker 1: Chicago for a year. Yes. What was that like?
- 6:52Speaker 2: I was, so I got an apprenticeship with the onion.
- 6:56Speaker 2: So it was supposed to be like a six month
- 6:59Speaker 2: contract there. And then I got the writing fellowship. after that.
- 7:04Speaker 2: So I was there for pretty much a full year
- 7:06Speaker 2: in 2018. Uh, it was, I think it was like
- 7:11Speaker 2: three degrees when I moved out there in January, uh,
- 7:16Speaker 2: which was rough, especially coming from Phoenix where it's like,
- 7:20Speaker 2: you know, that time of year in January, it's like
- 7:24Speaker 2: 75 and sunny. That's like big snowbird season.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Um, Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 2: So it was rough. I got out there to a
- 7:31Speaker 2: city I'd never been in and everything's like gray and
- 7:34Speaker 2: cold and dead. Um, it was, it was a rough start,
- 7:39Speaker 2: but it ended up, I mean, I'm excited. I'm glad
- 7:41Speaker 2: I got to be in Chicago for the summer. That
- 7:44Speaker 2: was fantastic. And now I love Chicago, but it was,
- 7:47Speaker 2: it was for sure challenging.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah. So you said the onion, you were writing for
- 7:51Speaker 1: the onion and like, what, uh, what would you, what'd
- 7:53Speaker 1: you do? Like if the onion would, uh, for the,
- 7:56Speaker 1: like the, um, Like news headlines?
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's basically, I feel like I describe it
- 8:03Speaker 2: as like a junior staff position. You're pitching headlines, you're
- 8:08Speaker 2: writing articles, you're working on special projects. So we would
- 8:12Speaker 2: do stuff, you know, like for the State of the
- 8:14Speaker 2: Union or the Olympics, the Oscars, like big projects like that.
- 8:20Speaker 2: The year I was there, we put out a fake
- 8:23Speaker 2: social media site that was like take off of Facebook
- 8:29Speaker 2: and it was just this like free speech hell scape
- 8:33Speaker 2: that turns into this horrible like hate speech demon. You know,
- 8:38Speaker 2: it's like a whole planned out storyline. It was really
- 8:40Speaker 2: fun to work on that. Yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And then it came to life. Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And then they were working on a podcast. They had
- 8:48Speaker 2: a really funny parody of like all the murder podcasts.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I think it was called a very fatal murder. It's
- 8:58Speaker 2: so funny. I don't know if you can still find
- 9:00Speaker 2: it online, but they were working on the second season
- 9:03Speaker 2: of that. So there'd be like different projects like that,
- 9:06Speaker 2: that would come up. Yeah. So it's, I mean, a
- 9:10Speaker 2: ton of writing headlines and writing longer articles and they
- 9:15Speaker 2: call them nibs. They're the news and brief, like short articles.
- 9:20Speaker 2: So yeah, a lot of, a lot of writing, a
- 9:23Speaker 2: lot of, Uh, following horrible news. That was, that was tough.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah. The, um, so was it, was it very like, uh,
- 9:35Speaker 1: like I think people say about SNL when they had
- 9:37Speaker 1: to write bits and stuff like that, it was really
- 9:38Speaker 1: super pressure, uh, heavy. Was it, was that tons of
- 9:41Speaker 1: pressure to hurry up and churn things out or how
- 9:44Speaker 1: was that, uh, process? Not.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Not in a crazy way where I've watched stuff about
- 9:50Speaker 2: SNL and heard that it's like, whether it's ready or not,
- 9:53Speaker 2: we have to have a show Saturday. I think when
- 9:56Speaker 2: they were still putting out the physical paper, which they
- 10:00Speaker 2: are doing again now, they, they started, I think last
- 10:03Speaker 2: year putting out the physical paper. But I think at
- 10:07Speaker 2: that point, you know, they had more strict deadlines where
- 10:12Speaker 2: when I was there, I think they were still owned
- 10:16Speaker 2: by Univision before they had been bought by like a,
- 10:20Speaker 2: a private equity firm that was just like, let's churn
- 10:23Speaker 2: out as much content as possible at all times. So
- 10:28Speaker 2: it wasn't, I don't know. I feel like the writers there,
- 10:32Speaker 2: they care more about the quality of work than like,
- 10:37Speaker 2: you know, let's get, we need this like on the
- 10:40Speaker 2: desk at this time. I don't think it was pressure
- 10:43Speaker 2: in that sense, but certainly being in the room with
- 10:45Speaker 2: like super funny, smart people, like, pressure in that sense
- 10:50Speaker 2: to be like oh my god these people are so
- 10:51Speaker 2: smart they're so funny like pressure in that sense of
- 10:57Speaker 2: like oh I hope they think I'm funny like.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah yeah no I as I say um no like
- 11:07Speaker 1: when I met you in um especially because it was
- 11:09Speaker 1: in a, it was in a class setting. I mean,
- 11:10Speaker 1: you seem like, like you're, you belong. You know what
- 11:12Speaker 1: I mean? I know that sometimes like, you know, when
- 11:14Speaker 1: you're in a group of people, you're like the imposter syndrome. Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Big time, big time here. Just like being in that room.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Cause at that point I'd been, I'd written a bunch
- 11:23Speaker 2: of stuff for some online sites like reductress and hard
- 11:26Speaker 2: times and felt pretty confident, but this was like realizing
- 11:32Speaker 2: how much I didn't know, which is, Fantastic. Cause I
- 11:38Speaker 2: learned so much, but yeah, just looking around that room
- 11:42Speaker 2: and at first being like, Oh, okay. This person went
- 11:45Speaker 2: to Brown and this person went to this place and cool.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I went to UC Santa Cruz and no, no shade
- 11:53Speaker 2: to the banana slugs, but like, you know, just people
- 11:56Speaker 2: that are like true comedy writers, like that nerdy, you know,
- 12:02Speaker 2: being able to dissect stuff so quickly or to, like
- 12:06Speaker 2: I'm thinking of the editor in chief there, uh, Chad Mackers.
- 12:09Speaker 2: He's been there 30 plus years, like one of the
- 12:13Speaker 2: OG people. I think he started out as a photographer
- 12:16Speaker 2: back in Madison and it's somebody that can truly hear
- 12:20Speaker 2: like a premise or something that's kind of clunky and
- 12:22Speaker 2: just like kind of compute it in his head and
- 12:25Speaker 2: spit it out. And you're like, God damn, you're a Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 1: You're like now intimidation. Yeah. Intimidated. Yeah. And it's just like,
- 12:36Speaker 1: kind of like quiet.
- 12:38Speaker 2: People, but like super observant and then just like could
- 12:41Speaker 2: hear whatever, or like part of a phrase and just
- 12:44Speaker 2: immediately fix it. It was like, wow, you guys are
- 12:47Speaker 2: so good at this.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yeah. I see in the background, you've got a, a
- 12:54Speaker 1: Winnie the Pooh up there. Is that, is that like your,
- 12:56Speaker 1: your go-to Disney?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Um, I've had that thing for so long. I, I,
- 13:02Speaker 2: I didn't realize you could.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 2: He's chilling up there.
- 13:04Speaker 1: He's just chilling up there. Yeah. He was one of
- 13:06Speaker 1: my favorites when I was a kid. I used to
- 13:08Speaker 1: love Winnie the Pooh.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I still, I still like Winnie the Pooh.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yeah. I, I, I referenced him in.
- 13:14Speaker 2: A joke talking about my, my skinny husband. Like if
- 13:19Speaker 2: I put on one of my husband's shirts, it's a
- 13:21Speaker 2: full Winnie the Pooh situation. My husband's like 125 pounds and,
- 13:27Speaker 2: And I'm not. So it's like a full Winnie the
- 13:29Speaker 2: Pooh crop top. But that Winnie the Pooh was a
- 13:33Speaker 2: gift from one of my first boyfriends in high school.
- 13:36Speaker 2: And I still have the bear.
- 13:39Speaker 1: That's crazy. I know. Don't tell him that. Don't tell
- 13:41Speaker 1: him that.
- 13:42Speaker 2: No.
- 13:43Speaker 1: He can't hear you right now anyways. You said he's gaming?
- 13:45Speaker 2: He's playing Fallout.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yeah. That's dope. I'm going to start playing it. I
- 13:51Speaker 1: haven't played it yet, but I hear it's really cool.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And I guess it's also like... Las Vegas based like
- 13:58Speaker 1: one of the games is so you can it's an
- 14:01Speaker 1: actual map of Las Vegas and the cities and the
- 14:03Speaker 1: towns and I thought that was okay cool yeah I
- 14:06Speaker 1: watched the show I watched the first season I'm on
- 14:08Speaker 1: the second season now there's only like I'm only two
- 14:10Speaker 1: episodes in but I think the second season just wrapped
- 14:12Speaker 1: up so it's actually pretty it's pretty good I watched.
- 14:15Speaker 2: The first episode with him and I was just like
- 14:17Speaker 2: this isn't for me but I'm happy for you like
- 14:21Speaker 2: this is pretty gory That's funny.
- 14:25Speaker 1: What are your shows? What are you watching? What do
- 14:27Speaker 1: you love?
- 14:28Speaker 2: We just finished watching Stranger Things. I had never finished it.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I had watched like a couple episodes of the first season.
- 14:37Speaker 2: And for whatever reason, just never finished it. And my
- 14:41Speaker 2: husband was like, this is my favorite show. Before we
- 14:43Speaker 2: watched season five, like, I want you to watch this.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And so we went back and watched the whole thing,
- 14:49Speaker 2: like charged through it. and just recently finished watching the,
- 14:55Speaker 2: I guess the final season.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 2: So that was a big, a big undertaking. I enjoyed it.
- 15:01Speaker 2: And I'm also, I'm kind of relieved that we're done.
- 15:05Speaker 2: It felt like a, like a big project. I did
- 15:11Speaker 2: really enjoy it. I thought it was great. Lots of
- 15:13Speaker 2: really good characters in it.
- 15:17Speaker 1: And then, so, okay. So for Stranger Things is what you're,
- 15:19Speaker 1: what you're, what you're, are you, What do you want
- 15:21Speaker 1: to start?
- 15:23Speaker 2: What do I, Oh, um, I mean for other shows,
- 15:26Speaker 2: I'm comedy shows. I loved, I rewatched recently when I
- 15:31Speaker 2: was sick. Um, South side. Have you watched South?
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I used to love South side. Then they canceled it. Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It's hard to funny. Yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I had watched it a couple of years ago and
- 15:41Speaker 2: then I don't know, maybe before the end of last
- 15:44Speaker 2: year got sick and I was like, Oh, this show
- 15:47Speaker 2: is so funny. I want something like silly and comforting
- 15:50Speaker 2: and rewatch the whole thing in a couple of days.
- 15:53Speaker 2: It's so funny.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Something like they might bring it back or something like that. Like,
- 15:57Speaker 1: like they were talking about how one of the networks
- 15:59Speaker 1: is going to buy it and bring it back.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I hope so. That the whole cast, like it's such
- 16:05Speaker 2: a funny world. Like every character in there is so great. Yeah. That's,
- 16:13Speaker 2: that's a favorite.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I like watching... I was just going.
- 16:17Speaker 2: To say, I like watching funny stuff, obviously. Silly stuff.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And also some good documentaries. Usually about cults or murders.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I love a good cult. Yes. Is that Nick jamming
- 16:36Speaker 2: in there?
- 16:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that's Nicky's jam. Do you have a favorite cult?
- 16:40Speaker 1: I know that sounds terrible, but.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Oh my gosh which one do I choose there's so
- 16:47Speaker 3: many these days I would probably have to say I
- 16:52Speaker 3: don't know like there's just so many right now I
- 16:54Speaker 3: would probably say if I had to pick one would
- 16:58Speaker 3: be you know the Mormon cults that we're seeing everywhere
- 17:03Speaker 3: they're doing so many like missing situations or like I
- 17:09Speaker 3: mean there's a lot of murders and I'm just like
- 17:10Speaker 3: oh my gosh this is horrible yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I knew someone, I knew someone was to say Mormons.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I just knew it. But, uh, Oh, I was going
- 17:22Speaker 1: to say, um, no, you're, I wasn't saying about the, uh,
- 17:24Speaker 1: I just got done watching a documentary right now with,
- 17:26Speaker 1: with my wife. Uh, we just got like, just before
- 17:28Speaker 1: we go, I walked in, uh, predators and it's about, um,
- 17:31Speaker 1: to catch a documentary.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Yeah. You see that? Yeah. Cause like, You know, I
- 17:39Speaker 1: seen on TikTok, they're like, oh, they stopped to catch
- 17:41Speaker 1: a predator because some guy killed himself. And I was like, yeah,
- 17:43Speaker 1: it's probably like an urban myth. But then the documentary
- 17:45Speaker 1: shows like, yeah, he was an assistant DA who killed himself. Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 1: And the thing was, he never went to the house.
- 17:55Speaker 1: They tried to lure him to the house and he
- 17:57Speaker 1: just he never went. So. They found out who he was.
- 18:00Speaker 1: They tracked the call and all. And then they went,
- 18:02Speaker 1: they went to his house and they confronted him and
- 18:04Speaker 1: that's where he, he, he ended his life. And I
- 18:06Speaker 1: was like, Whoa, like this is crazy. So I just
- 18:08Speaker 1: watched that. It was interesting. And then, um, but, but
- 18:11Speaker 1: on the lighter side of things too, you said about
- 18:13Speaker 1: Southside and about how funny it is. You know, what's funny.
- 18:16Speaker 1: The thing about that show was that it wasn't even, um,
- 18:19Speaker 1: it wasn't, I don't feel like it was trying to
- 18:21Speaker 1: be a comedy. It was just so honest and true
- 18:23Speaker 1: that it was funny. And, um, another show like that,
- 18:27Speaker 1: that I really like is, um, uh reservation dogs.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I want to i've heard really good things about it
- 18:34Speaker 2: i've heard that it's very funny.
- 18:36Speaker 1: It's only three seasons it's so funny but it's a
- 18:39Speaker 1: slow burn so it's it's really it's really hard like
- 18:41Speaker 1: in plus like you know it's not glamorous to look
- 18:44Speaker 1: at uh you know i'm not saying that tulsa is
- 18:47Speaker 1: not glamorous but like you know the oklahoma city and
- 18:49Speaker 1: stuff like that like the landscape and but like if
- 18:52Speaker 1: you start watching for their kids is like relationships with
- 18:54Speaker 1: each other and the things that they're kind of going through,
- 18:55Speaker 1: it's like, it's so honest and true that it's funny
- 18:58Speaker 1: and sad, but still in a, in a, in a,
- 19:01Speaker 1: in a humorous way. It's very, it's very dealing with life,
- 19:04Speaker 1: you know, how comics do it life and how, you know,
- 19:07Speaker 1: laughter or camaraderie makes you, uh, you know, appreciate small
- 19:11Speaker 1: things and fun, uh, free fun, you know, like, uh,
- 19:15Speaker 1: We don't have enough money to go to the movies,
- 19:17Speaker 1: but we'll just make one at the house with this
- 19:20Speaker 1: camera and these sheets and the fucking– oh, that sounds
- 19:22Speaker 1: way horrible– in the backyard with things.
- 19:27Speaker 2: That's a different cult.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a cult. Yeah, we're going back into the cults.
- 19:34Speaker 1: But yeah. Okay, cool. Well, so the bread and butter
- 19:38Speaker 1: podcast is like we get to know you and whatnot.
- 19:41Speaker 1: And so we're going to move on to the second
- 19:42Speaker 1: portion of the show. which is uh, uh, uh, good
- 19:45Speaker 1: to know. And we're just going to do this like
- 19:47Speaker 1: trivia questions. This is week one. Uh, pretty much every
- 19:50Speaker 1: first guest of everyone has, has answered the week one questions. Um,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and there, you know, you get right, you get them wrong.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's going to spark conversation and be silly. And, um,
- 20:00Speaker 1: you know, it's like, it's not a big deal.
- 20:02Speaker 2: We're just, okay. I'm nervous, but I'm ready.
- 20:05Speaker 1: All right. She's like, how am I going to go–
- 20:11Speaker 1: because it's pretty much all the hosts are pretty much
- 20:13Speaker 1: going against each other right now. Oh, no. Okay. So
- 20:18Speaker 1: I think Jenny's in the lead. I think Jenny has
- 20:20Speaker 1: the lead. I can't remember how many she got, though. Okay.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So here's week one. Here's the question. Week one, the
- 20:27Speaker 1: first question is, what is the largest organ of the
- 20:29Speaker 1: human body?
- 20:32Speaker 2: Your skin?
- 20:32Speaker 1: Skin? Boom. Right on. Everyone's getting it. I was like, dude,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I thought that was going to be a tough one.
- 20:38Speaker 1: But no, it's not. Everyone's getting it. Nice. Because I
- 20:41Speaker 1: didn't know that. I was like, oh, shit, the skin.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I was thinking like heart or brain. I was just
- 20:46Speaker 1: being stupid. Here's a sports question. Yeah. How many professional
- 20:50Speaker 1: sports teams does California have?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Oh, in... Dang, can you give me multiple choice or something?
- 21:10Speaker 1: That's a good question. In all of California? Let's go with.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I mean, I can name the NBA teams, but I
- 21:19Speaker 2: don't really follow... Dang. Okay, so there's the Clippers, the Lakers,
- 21:26Speaker 2: and the Warriors. Is that all of the... And the
- 21:29Speaker 2: Sacramento Kings.
- 21:31Speaker 1: No, there's one more.
- 21:32Speaker 2: So that's four. Is that all of the basketball teams?
- 21:36Speaker 1: That's all basketball, yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 2: The Giants are there?
- 21:39Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 21:41Speaker 2: The Oakland A's? Nope.
- 21:44Speaker 1: They're Sacramento. Sacramento A's.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Oh, they're Sacramento now?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Okay, so it's still the A's. How many is that?
- 21:59Speaker 2: What's the... what's the wmba team the sparks.
- 22:05Speaker 1: La sparks yeah.
- 22:06Speaker 2: La sparks okay okay um i feel like.
- 22:10Speaker 3: You're above the rest right now knowing that many team
- 22:13Speaker 3: names so that's kudos yeah for that.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Um she should get the point for just naming teams
- 22:20Speaker 1: is there.
- 22:20Speaker 2: A soccer team there's probably a slacker team um Yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I think there's a... I don't want to say it, though.
- 22:29Speaker 1: There's a couple. We can do the multiple choice if
- 22:31Speaker 1: you want.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Okay, I'll make a multiple choice.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Is it A, 12, B, 20, C, 40, or D, 21? Well,
- 22:34Speaker 2: I feel like we've named... Let's go with 20. I
- 22:35Speaker 2: feel like you said 20. That was choice B, I believe.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yeah, choice B. It was D. It was 21.
- 22:59Speaker 2: 21? Man, that's a lot.
- 23:02Speaker 1: 21. So close. Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Okay, but maybe it's a bonus point for effort.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I agree. I think so. I think so. Nailed it. Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 1: With all the teams that you did name and, yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 1: the baseball teams. Because, like, I think in baseball there's, like,
- 23:18Speaker 1: three more. Dodgers, Padres.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Oh, the Dodgers. Oh, my gosh. I'm going to.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I'm in so much trouble. I can't believe.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Oh, I'm in trouble. Yeah. I was like, LA got
- 23:37Speaker 1: two teams. Okay. So here's the geography question. If you
- 23:43Speaker 1: openly know your capitals, because we want to know what
- 23:45Speaker 1: is the capital of Florida.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Tallahassee.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Tallahassee question mark and up speak.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, you know, what's funny is you have
- 24:01Speaker 1: got a perfect score so far for someone who's worried
- 24:04Speaker 1: about that. Um, okay. So here we're going to go
- 24:07Speaker 1: with the number question number four. This is, this is
- 24:09Speaker 1: going to be a nice easy one. There's a layup.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Well, don't say that. Cause then I'll blow it.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Okay. They're going to jinx it. Um, The Mic Drop
- 24:18Speaker 1: Comedy Club is in association with what comedy festival?
- 24:21Speaker 2: Oh, I do know this. Big Pine, baby.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah. See, I told you. That'll work.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Big Pine since it was up in Flagstaff. That's the OG.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, when it was all the
- 24:38Speaker 1: way up there. Flagstaff's awesome. I love Flagstaff. Yeah. How many?
- 24:44Speaker 1: Number five. How many seasons of SNL are there?
- 24:51Speaker 2: They just did an anniversary. So let's see.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I'm going to do some math because I think it
- 24:56Speaker 2: started in the 70s. Was it like 40? Hold on.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Don't tell me.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Final answer?
- 25:04Speaker 2: No. I'm doing math. I'm checking. Yeah, we're going to
- 25:11Speaker 2: go with 50. 50.
- 25:13Speaker 1: 50. So close. It's 51. Oh, wait.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Now this season.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yeah, because they already had their anniversary. So now we're... Boo.
- 25:22Speaker 2: That was a technicality.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I did.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I was scribbling stuff down and I did write 2025.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Because I was doing my math of like 1970. I
- 25:33Speaker 2: was like, gotta make sure.
- 25:33Speaker 1: What'd you call it? I just noticed your earrings. I
- 25:37Speaker 1: like your earrings. Thank you. Yeah, and they match the
- 25:40Speaker 1: background too. Those are cool. Okay, so here we go.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Number six. Name two branches of the government.
- 25:49Speaker 2: The executive and the judicial.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Boom. Nice.
- 25:54Speaker 2: And the pedophiles.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:58Speaker 2: They're their own government.
- 25:59Speaker 1: The judicial, the pedophile, and the legislative. Yeah. So here
- 26:04Speaker 1: we go. Question number seven. What year did The Matrix premiere? Ooh. Ooh.
- 26:10Speaker 2: 1990... I was going to say 9, but maybe it's 98?
- 26:18Speaker 2: Go with your gut here. What's that?
- 26:23Speaker 1: Go with your gut. 99.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Boom, 99.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Hit it on the dot.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I'm reading a book called The 90s, and there was
- 26:33Speaker 2: a whole section in there on The Matrix and the
- 26:37Speaker 2: cultural phenomenon that it was when it came out.
- 26:40Speaker 1: How it.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I think watching it now we're like, Oh yeah, there's,
- 26:43Speaker 2: you know, the red pill, the blue pill, whatever. But
- 26:45Speaker 2: it was like, when it came out, people were like,
- 26:48Speaker 2: like waiting in line to see it and dressing up
- 26:50Speaker 2: like them.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yeah. It was a trip. I remember, I remember seeing
- 26:55Speaker 1: the trailer and I remember seeing the trailer on the box.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I don't know if you're, if you guys have the box,
- 27:00Speaker 1: but the box was for poor kids for music videos.
- 27:03Speaker 1: You had to like, it was funny. Cause it was like,
- 27:04Speaker 1: they made you pay for the music video, but they
- 27:07Speaker 1: showed the trailer on there. And I didn't even understand
- 27:10Speaker 1: the trailer. All I just knew was like, Keanu Reeves
- 27:12Speaker 1: is cool. This looks cool. And it was awesome. And
- 27:17Speaker 1: that whole, you know, shooting of bullet time was just
- 27:21Speaker 1: so revolutionary. It's so funny because I show my wife's daughter,
- 27:24Speaker 1: the stepdaughter, I show her. We went and seen the
- 27:26Speaker 1: movies because it came out again. It came out like
- 27:28Speaker 1: for an anniversary, I think like the 25th or 30th anniversary.
- 27:31Speaker 1: So when I showed her, I was like, this movie
- 27:33Speaker 1: is dope. I was like, da, da, da, da. And
- 27:34Speaker 1: then she watched it and she was like, it's okay.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I've seen like all that stuff before. I go, but
- 27:38Speaker 1: they did it first. That's what they don't understand. Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I was like, everything that you see, it's all started
- 27:43Speaker 1: from here. And then she was just like, yeah. She
- 27:45Speaker 1: was like, I don't know. I don't get it. It's okay.
- 27:47Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, my God. I'm all geeking out
- 27:51Speaker 1: right now because when you said that, when you said
- 27:53Speaker 1: that when it first came out, I was like, it
- 27:54Speaker 1: took me back to when it did first come out.
- 27:56Speaker 1: And that shootout in the lobby was so awesome. I
- 28:02Speaker 1: love the movie theater. I like going to the movies.
- 28:04Speaker 1: It's one of my comforts. Sorry. I went too deep. No, no,
- 28:08Speaker 1: it's good.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I was going to say in this book, so it's,
- 28:11Speaker 2: it's called the nineties. It's a Chuck Klosterman book. So
- 28:14Speaker 2: it's like these, all these really interesting essays of like
- 28:17Speaker 2: politics and pop culture and like just interesting things and
- 28:21Speaker 2: reflections on things that, that took place in the nineties.
- 28:25Speaker 2: And in talking about that movie, they were talking about
- 28:28Speaker 2: how Keanu Reeves had done like Bill and Ted's excellent adventure.
- 28:33Speaker 2: And it was kind of seen as this like lowbrow,
- 28:37Speaker 2: stoner film kind of actor. And then by the end of,
- 28:41Speaker 2: I don't know if it was like the end of the,
- 28:45Speaker 2: I don't want to say, well, sometime after, after doing
- 28:48Speaker 2: that movie was like one of the greatest actors of
- 28:52Speaker 2: the century or something like the top, whatever actors, because like,
- 28:57Speaker 2: trying to think of there was like another yeah he'd
- 28:59Speaker 2: been in speed which was my favorite movie yeah it
- 29:02Speaker 2: was a great movie i don't think yeah he was
- 29:05Speaker 2: wonderful he looked super hot i remember watching that with
- 29:07Speaker 2: my friends many times but i don't think anyone was
- 29:10Speaker 2: like what a brilliant actor this guy is excellent adventure
- 29:15Speaker 2: and then now i feel like people like really you
- 29:18Speaker 2: know some respect on keanu reeves's name Yeah.
- 29:21Speaker 1: And it's interesting because he's not the best actor and
- 29:23Speaker 1: he wasn't the greatest actor. And it just was like
- 29:25Speaker 1: I think it was one of those things where it
- 29:26Speaker 1: was like it was perfectly met with with kind of
- 29:29Speaker 1: like he was home cooking. And then he also picked
- 29:31Speaker 1: really good projects that were like what we wanted to
- 29:34Speaker 1: see as well.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Because like like you said, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I know you weren't around for the 90s because you're
- 29:39Speaker 1: so young. but um like i i went to go
- 29:43Speaker 1: see bill and ted you know during i wouldn't see
- 29:45Speaker 1: the movie when i was like eight years old so
- 29:47Speaker 1: it's like oh i know this dude and he's hella
- 29:49Speaker 1: cool and i i want to be like i want
- 29:51Speaker 1: to be that cool and yada yada yats and then
- 29:53Speaker 1: you know and then you follow his career and i
- 29:54Speaker 1: remember one time watching um My Private Idaho, which I was,
- 29:59Speaker 1: I was kidding. I didn't understand that, but I was like,
- 30:01Speaker 1: it's Keanu Reeves. I don't care. I'm rocking with him.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And then when, you know, Speed would come out, it's like,
- 30:05Speaker 1: oh yeah. And Sandra Bullock. And I used to think
- 30:07Speaker 1: Sandra Bullock was so dope. Yeah. She's still dope.
- 30:10Speaker 2: She's still dope, I think.
- 30:12Speaker 1: She is. She's, yeah. And then there was, what else
- 30:17Speaker 1: did he do too? Like after that, like, yeah, the Matrix,
- 30:20Speaker 1: it was like, just like, dude, he's the shit. I
- 30:22Speaker 1: don't care if he can't do an accent because he
- 30:24Speaker 1: was in Dracula and it was terrible.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't see that. That sounds really bad.
- 30:31Speaker 1: In Bram Stoker's Dracula, he does a British accent, and
- 30:34Speaker 1: it is so bad.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Oh, that does sound bad.
- 30:37Speaker 1: But you're like, it's Keanu. I don't even care. You've
- 30:40Speaker 1: got to pass, man. Just hang out with Winona Ryder
- 30:42Speaker 1: and fucking kick it. Winona Ryder, another awesome one from
- 30:47Speaker 1: the 90s. Oh, yeah, you've seen Stranger Things.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Stranger Things, yeah.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, okay. I, I, well, I can talk about,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I can get out on movies all day. I'm sorry.
- 30:54Speaker 1: We'll go, we'll keep going. I can geek out on
- 30:57Speaker 1: the nineties as well. Um, so, uh, so apocalypse. Oh fuck. Um,
- 31:02Speaker 1: what is it? What is it? Okay. That's the eighth
- 31:04Speaker 1: question is what is Tupac's first album? What's the name
- 31:06Speaker 1: of it?
- 31:08Speaker 2: All eyes on me. No.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Um, um, that was just for, for, that was the
- 31:17Speaker 1: first double disc album ever of rap album. But, uh,
- 31:20Speaker 1: That was his first album.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Maybe I don't know the name of it. What is it?
- 31:25Speaker 1: It's Tupacalypse Now.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Oh.
- 31:28Speaker 1: And that turned out such hits as I Get Around.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I Get Around.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. So question number nine is who hosts
- 31:41Speaker 1: The Price is Right? Bob.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Oh, now or back in the day?
- 31:46Speaker 1: Yeah, now.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Okay. Is it still, um, shit.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I know. Cause I always think Bob Parker. I know.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm like Bob Barker.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Who else? Yeah.
- 31:59Speaker 2: No, it's a Drew Carey still.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I haven't watched.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You got it. Nice. All right, cool. So that's the
- 32:07Speaker 1: nine question. Here's the 10th question. We're gonna do a
- 32:09Speaker 1: final jeopardy question. Oh, I got to change the name
- 32:10Speaker 1: because of copyright. Um, final jeopardy, uh, Spanish version. Um, so, uh,
- 32:20Speaker 1: So Quentin Tarantino put out a list of his top
- 32:23Speaker 1: 10 personal favorite movies, top 20 personal favorite movies of
- 32:27Speaker 1: the 21st century. These aren't his movies. These are his
- 32:31Speaker 1: favorite ones personally. So with that being said, it caused
- 32:36Speaker 1: a big controversy. I think he put it out like
- 32:39Speaker 1: about a month or two ago. Do you know what
- 32:42Speaker 1: the number one film that he put for the top
- 32:45Speaker 1: one of the 21st century was? Oh, shit. I should
- 32:48Speaker 1: have told you to wager your points.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I think I would need a hint or like to
- 32:56Speaker 2: phone a friend or do I have any lifelines?
- 33:01Speaker 1: We should start doing that, actually. Yeah, we should. We
- 33:04Speaker 1: should definitely start doing that. Yeah.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I don't think I know. When did this come out?
- 33:12Speaker 1: About a month or two ago. There was a big
- 33:14Speaker 1: controversy because he called Paul Dano the worst actor ever.
- 33:18Speaker 1: And everyone was like, couldn't tell you don't know shit.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like I remember seeing something about that.
- 33:23Speaker 2: But I don't know if I remember anything about his
- 33:27Speaker 2: favorite movie. And not one that he's created. It's movies
- 33:32Speaker 2: that are made by other people. Is it like Forrest
- 33:37Speaker 2: Gump or something? I have no idea what it would be.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Okay yeah it's it's off it's so obvious called it's
- 33:45Speaker 1: it's black hawk down he said that was the best
- 33:48Speaker 1: movie of the 21st century yeah which i mean it's
- 33:50Speaker 1: okay it's an okay movie but it's not the best
- 33:53Speaker 1: and then on top of that it's not even the
- 33:54Speaker 1: best military movie of the 21st century it's like that's
- 33:57Speaker 1: crazy you're crazy quentin tarantino.
- 34:00Speaker 2: There's a little in that book that i mentioned the
- 34:02Speaker 2: 90s there's a whole section like talking about him and
- 34:05Speaker 2: like putting out reservoir dogs and pulp fiction and him
- 34:09Speaker 2: directing natural born killers. It's a, a whole nineties deep dive.
- 34:12Speaker 2: I'm like, Oh yeah. I remember like all of these
- 34:16Speaker 2: as big cultural, culturally significant moments.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Yeah. He, uh, Oh, you remember them?
- 34:22Speaker 2: Wait, I mean, I was very young, but I remember
- 34:26Speaker 2: I wasn't like, Hey mom, I want to go see
- 34:28Speaker 2: Pulp Fiction, but I do remember, um, watching it and
- 34:33Speaker 2: regretting that.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I watched it. Yeah. Yeah, I think Pulp Fiction also
- 34:40Speaker 1: came out in 99 too. I think because like 99
- 34:42Speaker 1: was a great year for movies. Like a ton of
- 34:43Speaker 1: good movies came out in that whole year span. It's
- 34:47Speaker 1: great because like what you said about Natural Born Killers,
- 34:49Speaker 1: like he said that he doesn't want, because Oliver Stone
- 34:52Speaker 1: ended up directing it because he wrote it. And he
- 34:55Speaker 1: was like, I'll never watch it though. He didn't like it.
- 34:57Speaker 1: And also too, another movie that he sold, he sold
- 35:01Speaker 1: that one. His first movie that he sold was True Romance.
- 35:04Speaker 1: And Tony Scott directed that. But the crazy thing about
- 35:08Speaker 1: that is– I don't know if they might have said
- 35:09Speaker 1: it in the book or not, but people don't know
- 35:11Speaker 1: that– a lot of people don't know that True Romance
- 35:15Speaker 1: and Natural Born Killers are the same characters. They're just–
- 35:20Speaker 1: the script was so long that he split it up
- 35:22Speaker 1: into two. But it's like Natural Born Killers is supposed
- 35:26Speaker 1: to be a dream that Clarence has because– I don't
- 35:31Speaker 1: know if you– have you seen True Romance before? Mm-mm.
- 35:34Speaker 1: It's actually, it's pretty good. It's really good. It's really good.
- 35:36Speaker 1: But yeah, it's interesting that they're two of the same characters.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I was like, oh, that's so dope. That's so dope
- 35:41Speaker 1: that it's pretty much just a continuation of the other movie.
- 35:45Speaker 1: There's all kind of inside baseball with his, by accident.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't realize. I was like, oh, that's his film.
- 35:51Speaker 2: He directed it. And there was a thing, too, that
- 35:55Speaker 2: I learned about him. I think he directed an episode
- 35:59Speaker 2: of ER.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Shortly after he won the Oscar.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Nice.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I think he won it for Pulp Fiction.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I might be jumbling a whole bunch of random facts
- 36:14Speaker 2: from this book, but I'm pretty sure that's right.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Well, there was another thing, too. I don't know if
- 36:19Speaker 1: you've seen Just Till Dawn. You remember that movie?
- 36:21Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Which George Clooney, because he did ER, so I guess
- 36:27Speaker 1: Quentin had it in the drawer for the longest time,
- 36:30Speaker 1: and You know, Robert Rodriguez kept like, you know, like, hey, man,
- 36:33Speaker 1: you should make this. And he goes, because what you're
- 36:35Speaker 1: doing is you're parting it out to other movies. So
- 36:38Speaker 1: I guess he kept taking like the the speech that
- 36:40Speaker 1: Samuel Jackson gives in Pulp Fiction and rain down upon
- 36:43Speaker 1: me with great fury. Like that is that that is
- 36:46Speaker 1: supposed to be in Dusk Till Dawn. Like that was interesting. Yeah.
- 36:51Speaker 1: He goes, there's a lot of scenes that are taken
- 36:53Speaker 1: from Dusseldorf and put in other movies because he was
- 36:55Speaker 1: just like skeleton. I think. And then Robert was like, no,
- 36:57Speaker 1: we can make this and it'll be cool if we
- 36:58Speaker 1: should like a B horror film. And Robert Rodriguez is
- 37:01Speaker 1: another one, man, that he I don't think he really
- 37:02Speaker 1: gets too much. I mean, he gets enough credit, you know,
- 37:05Speaker 1: for doing everything super independent and making his own studios
- 37:09Speaker 1: and all that stuff. And, you know, it's interesting to
- 37:12Speaker 1: watch someone's art. And then find out or like to
- 37:16Speaker 1: see where they got inspiration to do the other greater things.
- 37:19Speaker 1: You know, there's a movie called Four Rooms.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually saw that.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. And like the daughter's in it.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I'm going to sound 4,000 years old, but I remember
- 37:31Speaker 2: renting that from the video store.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I remember rewinding it to take it back.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Before we get any late fees. Yeah. So like
- 37:43Speaker 1: his his room, he was it was shooting kids, you know,
- 37:47Speaker 1: like it was a it was a kids were left
- 37:49Speaker 1: alone in the hotel room while Antonio Banderas and the
- 37:53Speaker 1: mom take off to go to the party downstairs. And
- 37:56Speaker 1: he said that's where he got the idea to do
- 37:58Speaker 1: Spy Kids. And that turned into a bigger franchise than
- 38:01Speaker 1: anything else. Yeah. Interesting. But all right. I'm sorry. How
- 38:05Speaker 1: about that?
- 38:06Speaker 2: That's that's an interesting 90s factoid.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to have to read this book, man.
- 38:11Speaker 1: This book sounds fun.
- 38:12Speaker 2: It's pretty cool. There's definitely, I like stuff like that.
- 38:17Speaker 2: That's sort of the like cultural anthropology where it's like
- 38:20Speaker 2: pop culture, politics. Right now I'm reading a section that's
- 38:24Speaker 2: like Bill Clinton and that whole scandal.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Yeah, just so much interesting stuff. From the 90s. An
- 38:34Speaker 2: innocent time back then. Yeah, truly the last time where
- 38:39Speaker 2: it was like the internet was just starting to become
- 38:43Speaker 2: a thing.
- 38:44Speaker 1: I remember watching Sandra Bullock in The Net.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and she buys the pizza online. I'm like, no
- 38:51Speaker 1: one's going to fucking do that.
- 38:52Speaker 2: That's the most unrealistic part of that movie.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Yeah. That's what I felt like when I first seen him. Like,
- 39:00Speaker 1: this is so stupid. Oh, man. She's lucky she's pretty.
- 39:03Speaker 1: And I'm just going to watch because it's Sandra. It's Sandy. Yeah.
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's so funny because, like, my wife knows I have
- 39:10Speaker 1: a big crush on Sandra Bullock. And we're watching something
- 39:14Speaker 1: and she's crying. Oh, the movie that Hope Floats. Okay, yeah.
- 39:18Speaker 1: She put on Hope Floats and Sandra Bullock's crying. And
- 39:20Speaker 1: I'd never seen it, you know. And I go, who
- 39:23Speaker 1: the fuck is making Sandy cry? Oh, yeah my wife
- 39:29Speaker 1: goes okay fucking Sandy.
- 39:32Speaker 2: She's like we're watching something else.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Yeah she's so silly I wasn't I don't.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I think I was in Tucson recently but I was
- 39:39Speaker 2: staying in a hotel and Miss Congeniality was on and
- 39:42Speaker 2: I was like well we're staying in tonight.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah All right. Good stuff, man. Well, okay. So this is,
- 39:51Speaker 1: that's the podcast. And also too, like, do you have
- 39:54Speaker 1: any dates that you like to plug or things that
- 39:56Speaker 1: you'd like to, where they can come to you or
- 39:58Speaker 1: up and coming things going on?
- 40:01Speaker 2: I host a show locally. That's every other month, the
- 40:06Speaker 2: last Wednesday of the month, it's at ASU care and
- 40:09Speaker 2: in Scottsdale. But I, host and feature sometimes at mic
- 40:14Speaker 2: drop in Chandler. And, uh, that that's two great places
- 40:21Speaker 2: to see me.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Awesome. Yes.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:23Speaker 1: And, um, I'm pretty sure they'll get to know you
- 40:24Speaker 1: even more so because you're going to be doing a
- 40:27Speaker 1: podcast and you'll be on the channel every Wednesday with
- 40:30Speaker 1: a new up and coming comic and doing the same
- 40:33Speaker 1: thing that we just got done doing. Yeah. Um, so
- 40:37Speaker 1: with that being said, uh, thank you for your time. And, um,
- 40:40Speaker 1: if you, if you want to take it out, you
- 40:41Speaker 1: want to take us, take us out, go ahead.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Come back and see us next time. I'm excited to
- 40:47Speaker 2: hang with you guys.
