- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Real Talk with Mike D. Alright, welcome back
- 0:07Speaker 1: to Real Talk with Mike D. Where we say what
- 0:09Speaker 1: we mean, we mean what we say. And sometimes, we
- 0:13Speaker 1: just need to say what everybody else is thinking. And
- 0:16Speaker 1: today we're talking about something that pretty much nobody, and
- 0:20Speaker 1: I mean nobody, looks forward to. That's right, Monday. Why
- 0:26Speaker 1: do Mondays suck? Seriously. Who decided that after two days
- 0:32Speaker 1: of freedom, relaxation, sleeping in, doing whatever the hell we want,
- 0:37Speaker 1: we should suddenly wake up Monday morning and pretend we're
- 0:40Speaker 1: excited to go back to work? I'd like to meet
- 0:43Speaker 1: that person, because I have some questions. Monday morning is
- 0:48Speaker 1: basically the adult version of somebody grabbing you by the
- 0:51Speaker 1: shoulders and saying, Okay, fun's over. Get your ass back
- 0:56Speaker 1: to reality. And that's exactly what Monday feels like. You
- 1:01Speaker 1: know what's worse than Monday? Sunday night! Because Sunday night
- 1:06Speaker 1: is when Monday starts ruining your weekend. You're sitting there
- 1:09Speaker 1: watching TV, maybe you're having a beer, maybe you're listening
- 1:12Speaker 1: to some music, maybe you're watching football, maybe you're just relaxing.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And then you look at the clock and it's 8.30
- 1:19Speaker 1: and suddenly you remember, oh shit! I have to work tomorrow!
- 1:24Speaker 1: And just like that, the weekend is over. And you
- 1:29Speaker 1: start thinking about everything you have to do on Monday.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Setting the alarm. Dealing with traffic. Dealing with people, the emails,
- 1:38Speaker 1: the meetings, their responsibilities. And suddenly that peaceful Sunday evening
- 1:43Speaker 1: turns into a psychological preparation session for battle. And you
- 1:48Speaker 1: know what? I don't want to prepare for battle. I
- 1:52Speaker 1: want to watch TV. Then Monday morning finally arrives. The
- 1:57Speaker 1: alarm goes off. And there's always that moment where you
- 2:00Speaker 1: open your eyes and think, maybe I can call out.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Then reality kicks in. You look at your bank account. Yep.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Better get up. So you drag yourself out of bed.
- 2:13Speaker 1: You're tired. You're cranky. And you're questioning every decision you
- 2:17Speaker 1: ever made. And you're standing in the shower thinking, how
- 2:22Speaker 1: did I end up here? And then coffee comes. Coffee
- 2:28Speaker 1: isn't breakfast on Monday. Coffee is life support. Monday morning
- 2:34Speaker 1: coffee isn't something you enjoy. It's medication. It's survival equipment.
- 2:40Speaker 1: It's the thing standing between you and an accidental conversation
- 2:43Speaker 1: with another human being. And then you get in your
- 2:47Speaker 1: car and somehow everyone else is on the road at
- 2:51Speaker 1: the same time and they're driving like an idiot. Now
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'm sure they're not, but it's Monday. And on Monday,
- 2:59Speaker 1: everybody drives too slow. The guy in front of you
- 3:02Speaker 1: is doing 35 in a 45. Someone's changing lanes without
- 3:06Speaker 1: using a turn signal. Someone's riding your bumper. Someone's doing
- 3:11Speaker 1: 80 miles an hour like they're late for the fucking
- 3:13Speaker 1: Super Bowl. And you're sitting there thinking, can everybody just
- 3:17Speaker 1: calm the hell down? But you're also thinking, can everybody
- 3:24Speaker 1: get the hell out of my way? That's Monday. Then
- 3:31Speaker 1: you finally arrive at work. You walk through the door
- 3:35Speaker 1: and there's always that one person who says, good morning.
- 3:38Speaker 1: How was your weekend? Shut up. Really? It's Monday. There's
- 3:44Speaker 1: nothing good about Monday morning. And then they hit you with,
- 3:49Speaker 1: did you have a nice weekend? Yeah, I did. It
- 3:54Speaker 1: was fantastic. That's why I'm so pissed off that it's Monday.
- 3:58Speaker 1: The weekend was too short. That's the real problem. We
- 4:03Speaker 1: get five days of work and two days of freedom.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Who came up with that shit? Because I think we
- 4:10Speaker 1: need to renegotiate. I'd like four days off and three
- 4:14Speaker 1: days of work. Hell, I'd even compromise. Four days of work,
- 4:19Speaker 1: three days off. Let's start there. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 4:25Speaker 1: that's going to do it for today. That is Mike
- 4:30Speaker 1: D's reason why Mondays suck. But anyhow, I hope you
- 4:36Speaker 1: had a great weekend. I hope you have a great Monday.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And I hope you all enjoyed the day. Make someone smile.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And I will see you all on the next episode. Peace.
