- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfake, go to roll right, jumpson off from
- 0:07Speaker 1: the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off on
- 0:09Speaker 1: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 1: five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com, Matt pump
- 0:15Speaker 1: fakes looking at the goal line. He throws it into
- 0:17Speaker 1: the end zone. Touchdown. Sayhawks, it's Michael Bumpers with a
- 0:21Speaker 1: diving catching the end zone. A ten yard touchdown reception
- 0:25Speaker 1: for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington State has
- 0:28Speaker 1: found himself a place on this team. Now here's your host,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Nasa Chubi. The Seahawks fall to the forty nine Ers
- 0:37Speaker 1: twenty one to thirteen at Louman Field. It was a
- 0:40Speaker 1: hard fought game, a physical football game. The Seahawks battle
- 0:43Speaker 1: as hard as they could. Unfortunately, that forty nine Ers
- 0:45Speaker 1: do win the game and do win the NFC West
- 0:48Speaker 1: on Thursday Night football wasn't the result the Seahawks wanted
- 0:52Speaker 1: at all. There's definitely some positives that take away from
- 0:55Speaker 1: that game, as disappointing as it was, so let's jump
- 0:57Speaker 1: right into it. What had happened. See what happened at first,
- 1:03Speaker 1: What had happened was it was a tall task man
- 1:07Speaker 1: forty nine ers six game win streak. We know how
- 1:10Speaker 1: talented they were, we know how good their defense was.
- 1:12Speaker 1: We now good some of their offensive weapons were. And
- 1:14Speaker 1: they were hungry. They were playing for a chance to
- 1:16Speaker 1: beat their division rival on the road, Clintcy NFC West
- 1:19Speaker 1: title and from the jump man, forty nine Ers win
- 1:23Speaker 1: the toss. They defer. So the Seahawks started the game
- 1:26Speaker 1: with the football and bump, I'm not gonna lie. I
- 1:27Speaker 1: was a little I was excited. I'm like, this is
- 1:30Speaker 1: we're gonna play from ahead. One of these times when
- 1:32Speaker 1: you get after it. That wasn't the case. Hawks punt
- 1:35Speaker 1: on the first drive. They do get a big stop
- 1:37Speaker 1: on forty nine ers first possession as the Seahawks defense
- 1:41Speaker 1: forced a three and out. Unfortunately, after that, the Hawks
- 1:43Speaker 1: would not take advantage as they would also go three
- 1:46Speaker 1: out on the suing possession. And then this time, the
- 1:48Speaker 1: forty nine Ers would answer with a nine play eighty
- 1:50Speaker 1: six yard touchdown drive, ending with a twenty yard touchdown
- 1:53Speaker 1: pass at George Kittle from Brock Party and Bump talk
- 1:56Speaker 1: about this play That was a hell of a play
- 1:58Speaker 1: designed by college Shanahan. Yeah, it was beautiful. Man. You
- 2:00Speaker 1: got a two back set, and what Purty does, man,
- 2:03Speaker 1: he fakes to swing one way, then he fakes to
- 2:05Speaker 1: swing the other way, which expands the defense, and then
- 2:08Speaker 1: the shotgun with two two running backs, they both flare
- 2:11Speaker 1: out to the flanks fake fake, and then what George
- 2:13Speaker 1: Kittle does does a great job of holding on to
- 2:17Speaker 1: the d N showing pass pro and then releasing up
- 2:19Speaker 1: the field. By that point, one safety had already rotated
- 2:22Speaker 1: down to a single high. That single high chiefs over
- 2:25Speaker 1: to the offense. Is right, man, It's like the Red
- 2:27Speaker 1: Sea being parted. All party had to do was flick
- 2:29Speaker 1: that risk. Easy money for George Kittle. Yeah, that was rough.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I mean, if you're an offensive coordinator right now, I
- 2:35Speaker 1: am stealing that. Yeah for Shoe. If it worked that
- 2:38Speaker 1: well in the NFL, if you're a high school offensive coordinator,
- 2:40Speaker 1: that is butter, that's gonna work every time Kittle the
- 2:44Speaker 1: one gets in the endzone as you described, made the
- 2:45Speaker 1: score seven to zero. Both teams would punt on the
- 2:49Speaker 1: next four straight possessions before the Seahawks would finally put
- 2:52Speaker 1: a good drive together. Yeah, man, they went a twelve
- 2:54Speaker 1: place sixty two yards, had to settle for a field
- 2:57Speaker 1: goal that made the score seven to three. And then
- 2:59Speaker 1: the Hawks will for say forty nine is punt on
- 3:01Speaker 1: the next possession. Then the game or really changed a bit. Man.
- 3:04Speaker 1: On that drive, Quandre dropped an interception. Man, that looked
- 3:08Speaker 1: like he would have picked that thing up and had
- 3:10Speaker 1: a nice little return. That one hurts. This is like
- 3:12Speaker 1: the third time I feel like Quandre had the ball
- 3:15Speaker 1: in his hands and just wasn't able to finish the play. Yeah, man,
- 3:18Speaker 1: And it's it's rare from him because Quandre's a sure
- 3:21Speaker 1: handed dude. He's gonna set an NFL record on his
- 3:24Speaker 1: next interception for most consecutive seasons with at least three interceptions,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and uh yeah, very uncharacteristic of him. He's in the
- 3:31Speaker 1: right spot, reads Perty's eyes and unfortunately wasn't able to
- 3:33Speaker 1: come down with it. And even even if you would
- 3:36Speaker 1: have just caught it, it would have really help with
- 3:37Speaker 1: feel position. Unfortunately he wasn't able to come down with it. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: the Seahawks, they would then swimming possession, Gino would hit
- 3:44Speaker 1: Travis Homer or six yard gained out in the flash.
- 3:47Speaker 1: He's turning up field and he gets to the forty
- 3:50Speaker 1: six yard line. But there's a funnel. There's a big
- 3:53Speaker 1: kid his collision sport right ball security job, security man.
- 3:56Speaker 1: He will cough that thing up. The ball would be
- 3:58Speaker 1: returned forty yards. Then all it takes two plays. You
- 4:00Speaker 1: give the forty nine ers a football down inside the
- 4:03Speaker 1: ten like that, you can almost chalk it up. Get
- 4:05Speaker 1: the kick return team ready to go because they're gonna score.
- 4:08Speaker 1: That's exactly what happened. Christi McCaffrey punches it in the
- 4:11Speaker 1: end zone. The score would now be fourteen to three.
- 4:15Speaker 1: The bad guys. Yeah, And right when that happened, you
- 4:17Speaker 1: could tell this was a game where the Seahawks needed
- 4:19Speaker 1: to play perfect and there was gonna be. They couldn't
- 4:23Speaker 1: give the forty nine Ers anything. They couldn't give up
- 4:25Speaker 1: any points. You know, early in the season, you were
- 4:28Speaker 1: playing maybe the Lions or who were struggling, or someone else.
- 4:31Speaker 1: You give up a touchdown, which happened to the Seahawks
- 4:33Speaker 1: at some point this year. You're like, no problem, they'll
- 4:35Speaker 1: get over it. No problem. Against a team like that
- 4:37Speaker 1: and a defense like that, you cannot give up points.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And that's what the Seahawks did. The Hawks will punt
- 4:42Speaker 1: on their final possession of the second quarter, ending the half.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Now this is another gut punch because this is right
- 4:47Speaker 1: when the huge momentum play in the game, after the
- 4:50Speaker 1: Homer fumble. Coming out, you're opening the Seahawks can get
- 4:52Speaker 1: a stop. Unfortunately, forty nine ers come out of locker
- 4:55Speaker 1: room going fast. Two plays fifty nine yards, ending with
- 4:58Speaker 1: a fifty four yard touchdown George Kittle on a blown
- 5:01Speaker 1: coverage that made the score twenty one to three. No
- 5:04Speaker 1: bumping on that play, you know, listening to Pete Carroll
- 5:07Speaker 1: talk this morning and as press conference, it looked like
- 5:09Speaker 1: that was Dreke Willan's responsibility to cover three. He kind
- 5:12Speaker 1: of looks inside, sees the receiver coming underneath. Unfortunately, he's
- 5:16Speaker 1: supposed to be in a deep third. Kittle releases that
- 5:18Speaker 1: deep third. George excuse mc quandre Diggs did his best
- 5:23Speaker 1: to recover. You'd like him to make that tackle. Unfortunately
- 5:26Speaker 1: he couldn't get him down. Trike Willans played an amazing
- 5:29Speaker 1: year this year, so we can't follow him. He's a rookie.
- 5:31Speaker 1: He's gonna make mistakes. But it just really hurt because
- 5:34Speaker 1: he still felt like they were in the game, and
- 5:36Speaker 1: then to go down eighteen to a team like that
- 5:38Speaker 1: is really tough. Yeah, you were hoping, like, look, man,
- 5:42Speaker 1: just hold these guys, make them punted or kick a
- 5:44Speaker 1: field goal. You feel okay about how that team is
- 5:46Speaker 1: playing to win. You come out after the half and
- 5:48Speaker 1: you give us something like that. Batman really hurts like
- 5:50Speaker 1: you mentioned, and made it twenty one to three. But
- 5:53Speaker 1: then the hostile responding go tim plays forty two yards
- 5:55Speaker 1: and now Jason meyers Man fifty one yard field goals.
- 5:58Speaker 1: He has been quiet lee extremely consistent for this football team,
- 6:02Speaker 1: especially coming off a last year where you felt like
- 6:04Speaker 1: he struggled a little bit. But after that, both teams
- 6:07Speaker 1: will punt on the next four drive drives. You got
- 6:10Speaker 1: a battle going on him and the forty nine ers
- 6:12Speaker 1: will leave the door open for the Hawks. When Robbie
- 6:14Speaker 1: goldmiss is a forty three yard field goal, There's something
- 6:16Speaker 1: about that end of the stadium which forces these kickers
- 6:20Speaker 1: to push it to kick it short. Something about that
- 6:23Speaker 1: that north end stadium. Yeah, absolutely, anytime teams are going
- 6:26Speaker 1: that way at the end of a half and they
- 6:27Speaker 1: tried a long field goal like the Broncos did, in
- 6:29Speaker 1: week one. Something's going down, so be wary of that.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And then the Seahawks would finally take advantage. Go seven,
- 6:35Speaker 1: play sixty seven yards, Gino hit Ken Walker a nice route.
- 6:39Speaker 1: He goes thirty three yards to set something up. Then Bam, Seahawks.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Gino Smith finds no fan for a ten year of touchdown.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We'll talk about that in the coach corner. That made
- 6:47Speaker 1: it a one score game. So it's twenty one to thirteen.
- 6:50Speaker 1: After everything that's happened, the Hawks are still in this
- 6:53Speaker 1: football game. Unfortunately, the Hawks would fail to get chow
- 6:56Speaker 1: Key stops on third down, including the game ceiling fifty
- 6:59Speaker 1: four yard run and by Jordan Mason that sealed the
- 7:01Speaker 1: deal for the nine Ers. Bump, What do you think
- 7:04Speaker 1: happened on that play? I mean, it's tough because you'd
- 7:06Speaker 1: want them to be in third and long. Them in
- 7:09Speaker 1: third and two is really tough to defend. Yeah, exactly.
- 7:12Speaker 1: You say third and two. The whole playbook is open
- 7:15Speaker 1: third and long. You can kind of eliminate half of
- 7:17Speaker 1: the plays and say, okay, this is what we think
- 7:19Speaker 1: is going to happen. But when you have third and
- 7:21Speaker 1: two out there, the passes opened the deep passes open,
- 7:23Speaker 1: the run, the jet sweep. Everything they want to do
- 7:26Speaker 1: is open. And again, like we saw against the Raiders,
- 7:29Speaker 1: they were just better on that play. They called the
- 7:31Speaker 1: right play at the right time and they executed it beautifully.
- 7:34Speaker 1: That one hurt. If that play doesn't happen, then you
- 7:37Speaker 1: hold the forty nine ers to about one hundred and
- 7:38Speaker 1: fifteen hundred fourteen yards rushing and you feel pretty good
- 7:42Speaker 1: about yourself. Man. The Seahawks had one key turnover, they
- 7:45Speaker 1: lost the time of possession, and they were only four
- 7:48Speaker 1: for thirteen on third downs. That is thirty percent in
- 7:51Speaker 1: some change. That's not one you want to see. Christian
- 7:53Speaker 1: McCaffrey had another good game, one hundred and eight yards
- 7:56Speaker 1: on twenty six carries, and George Kittle found the painting
- 8:00Speaker 1: the area of the field two times. That's two touchdowns.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Good effort by the Hawks, man, but this came up short,
- 8:06Speaker 1: but valiant effort. Yeah, man, you talked about this, We've
- 8:10Speaker 1: all talked about at some point. Most NFL games come
- 8:12Speaker 1: down about five plays and we can easily point to them.
- 8:15Speaker 1: You know, you have the drop pick, then you have
- 8:17Speaker 1: the homer fumble, both both of Kittle's touchdowns, and you
- 8:20Speaker 1: have fifty five yard running to seal it. So there
- 8:24Speaker 1: are plays in this game. Even though the forty nine
- 8:26Speaker 1: Ers are ahead of where the Seahawks are and where
- 8:28Speaker 1: the Seahawks want to be at this point today, but
- 8:30Speaker 1: you can tell they're in the fight. They're close. And
- 8:32Speaker 1: I told you this last night. The Hawks have lost
- 8:34Speaker 1: seven games this year, right, every game except the Week
- 8:38Speaker 1: two loss of the forty nine Ers has been a
- 8:40Speaker 1: one score game. Wow. And that's what's really gonna hurt.
- 8:43Speaker 1: The Hawks are still in the playoff picture, don't get
- 8:45Speaker 1: me wrong, they can still get in. It just really
- 8:48Speaker 1: hurts because every loss to the NFC South, the loss
- 8:51Speaker 1: of the Raiders, those are all games the Seahawks could
- 8:53Speaker 1: have won. And it's unfortunate. It's a young team, team
- 8:56Speaker 1: that's learning how to win games. But that's what happens
- 8:59Speaker 1: when things don't go anyway unfortunately. But Bump, some guys
- 9:03Speaker 1: did make plays out there, playmakers. Gino Smith thirty one
- 9:17Speaker 1: of forty four, two hundred and thirty eight yards, one touchdown,
- 9:20Speaker 1: no interceptions. Gino streak of games with multiple touchdown passes
- 9:24Speaker 1: is snapped at six. That was the longest streak of
- 9:26Speaker 1: his career and the longest going in the NFL that season.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He had ten games going there um so twenty six
- 9:33Speaker 1: touchdown passes on the season. Also still managed tobe seventy
- 9:36Speaker 1: percent of his passes in the game. But bum Gino
- 9:40Speaker 1: was under fire all night. Man. He wasn't as sharp
- 9:43Speaker 1: as we've seen him at times this year, but he
- 9:45Speaker 1: was hitting nine times, sack three times, and that doesn't
- 9:48Speaker 1: even begin to see all the times he was actually
- 9:50Speaker 1: under pressure. Nick Bosa is a bad man and he
- 9:54Speaker 1: was causing havoc all night. Armstead was causing havoc all night.
- 9:57Speaker 1: So Gino to step up and keep the Seahawks. It
- 10:00Speaker 1: was impressive, not his best game, but it was a
- 10:02Speaker 1: struggle for the Seahawks and the Seahawks offensive line. Yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you felt like he was constantly under pressure and trying
- 10:08Speaker 1: to work within chaos, you know what I mean. And
- 10:11Speaker 1: safe to say they won't see anything like that again
- 10:14Speaker 1: when it comes to that box to end this season.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So hopefully they learned from that. These these offensive line,
- 10:19Speaker 1: especially these young tackles, feel that pressure and learn from
- 10:22Speaker 1: it and just move on. Man. But another playmaker, Tyler
- 10:25Speaker 1: Lockett at seven for sixty eight. Unfortunately he suffered a
- 10:29Speaker 1: broken index, but finish the game and the final drive.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I've broken fingers before, Tyler self diagnosis, self say, look,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'll be back in a couple of weeks. I hope
- 10:39Speaker 1: he is right. I was talking to Stacy on our
- 10:42Speaker 1: show and she's like devastated. Oh my god, the finger.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I go, that's football. Yeah, most of the time, you're
- 10:47Speaker 1: gonna jam a finger, you'll break a finger. That's just
- 10:50Speaker 1: part of the game. You take that thing up and
- 10:51Speaker 1: you go out there and you play. And I think
- 10:53Speaker 1: that's what Lockett is going to try to do. But
- 10:55Speaker 1: we'll see how the training staff handles up. Yeah, Pete
- 10:58Speaker 1: talked about his press conference today, him going and get
- 11:00Speaker 1: surgery two weeks has been continued to be thrown out there.
- 11:04Speaker 1: We'll see the thing that me and John Boyle have
- 11:07Speaker 1: in this conversation earlier about Lockett, is he so close
- 11:10Speaker 1: bumped to a thousand yards? Yeah? I even just obviously
- 11:14Speaker 1: we're a much better football team him on the field.
- 11:17Speaker 1: But if he could just come back for that last
- 11:19Speaker 1: game and just get over because that'll be his fourth
- 11:22Speaker 1: consecutive year with a thousand yards to keep the streak
- 11:25Speaker 1: alive nowhere, Seahawks receiver has ever gone five years over
- 11:29Speaker 1: a thousand yards. It's kind of a mess up thing.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Steve Largent had four straight thousand yards seasons, then there
- 11:35Speaker 1: was a strike, then he had five. Right after that
- 11:37Speaker 1: he technically had nine. But in the record books it's
- 11:40Speaker 1: only four or five or whatever that is. So Lockett
- 11:43Speaker 1: could have been could I want him to maybe be
- 11:46Speaker 1: able to get that record so too, if anything, selfishly,
- 11:48Speaker 1: just in the stat book, I'm hoping Tye Lockett his
- 11:50Speaker 1: back just to get over that thousand yard mark, kind
- 11:52Speaker 1: of continue show how good he's been this year. Yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I'm with you. Man, another top performer we got DK Metcalf.
- 11:59Speaker 1: He had seven recesses for fifty five yards. But no
- 12:01Speaker 1: offense is quietly putting together a decent season. Man. His
- 12:05Speaker 1: season high, I believe it was over six hundred yards,
- 12:07Speaker 1: forty something catches, and around four to five touchdowns. He's
- 12:11Speaker 1: on pace to have a season, a career season. He
- 12:14Speaker 1: had five receptions for thirty two in the touchdown that
- 12:17Speaker 1: brought this team within striking distance late in the game. Yeah, No,
- 12:21Speaker 1: it's been a great acquisition. He's got good hands, he's
- 12:24Speaker 1: you know, the tight ends haven't been used as much
- 12:26Speaker 1: as they were early in the season, but good to
- 12:28Speaker 1: see him out there flipping over the defensive side of
- 12:30Speaker 1: the ball. Cody Barton ten tackles doing his thing, had
- 12:34Speaker 1: to when Jordan Brooks went out and had to wear
- 12:36Speaker 1: the green dot, so that was a different change for him.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So he stepped up well towards the end, as Tanner
- 12:40Speaker 1: Muse also came in and showed Jody can do some
- 12:43Speaker 1: things out there as well. Quentinn Jefferson had two tackles,
- 12:46Speaker 1: one sack, one QB hit. They initially gave it to Chenna,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but it was recredited Quinn Jefferson's where he got that,
- 12:52Speaker 1: so nice little thing there, and then bombus to run
- 12:55Speaker 1: defense overall, Man, you mentioned it, they still gave up
- 12:59Speaker 1: one seventy. But if you take away, I know you
- 13:01Speaker 1: can't take a play away. I understand that, but for
- 13:04Speaker 1: you know, fifty seven minutes of that game, they held
- 13:08Speaker 1: a really good offense in a really good running game.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Two hundred and fifty yards and thirty three carries. And
- 13:14Speaker 1: I heard you talked about in your show today Man
- 13:16Speaker 1: and last night, Christian McCaffrey, what do you have like
- 13:18Speaker 1: thirty three touches or something like that, thirty two touches man,
- 13:22Speaker 1: so and he is just a different kind of dude.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And in that offense running behind Trent Williams and all
- 13:27Speaker 1: the misdirection and all that stuff. And given where the
- 13:29Speaker 1: Seahawks had been coming into this game without alt Woods,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I'm impressed about the run defense and this I feel
- 13:35Speaker 1: like a step that they took last night. Yeah they did, man,
- 13:39Speaker 1: they showed that they can stay in the fight. Man.
- 13:41Speaker 1: You mentioned it lost Alt was you have no more name,
- 13:45Speaker 1: so that rotation isn't as fresh as we're used to
- 13:48Speaker 1: seeing him. And they bowed up. Man, they bucked up.
- 13:51Speaker 1: And I was proud of that team. I know teams
- 13:53Speaker 1: are gonna look, there's no moral victories in this league.
- 13:56Speaker 1: They are now seven and seven and they're fighting to
- 13:58Speaker 1: get into the playoffs. But no matter what happens to
- 14:01Speaker 1: end the season, you want to see them moving in
- 14:03Speaker 1: the right direction, and I think against the forty nine
- 14:05Speaker 1: ers they were moving in the right direction. Let's get
- 14:08Speaker 1: to this receiver round up. Now we mentioned Locket. He
- 14:11Speaker 1: had seven for sixty eight. DC had seven for fifty five,
- 14:14Speaker 1: Noah Fan five for thirty two and a touchdown. Kenneth
- 14:16Speaker 1: Walker had four catches for thirty two. Travis had four
- 14:19Speaker 1: for twenty five unfortunate fumble as well. Uncle Will won
- 14:22Speaker 1: for thirteen. Marquis Goodwin, who's gonna have to step up
- 14:24Speaker 1: this week, knowing that Locke is gonna be out. He
- 14:26Speaker 1: had two for ten, penny Hart had one for three,
- 14:28Speaker 1: and Kobe Parkinson had no catches on one target. Yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 1: you know, obviously Tyler locket de kim back up at
- 14:36Speaker 1: the top of that. You'd hope that those are closer
- 14:38Speaker 1: to one hundred yards they typically are. You know, I
- 14:40Speaker 1: like that DK. Finally when he started moving the ball,
- 14:43Speaker 1: he had a couple of slants and look like he
- 14:45Speaker 1: was kind of getting involved a little bit more. But
- 14:47Speaker 1: it was just tough, man. When you can't stay on
- 14:49Speaker 1: the field on third down and you're four to thirteen,
- 14:51Speaker 1: it's hard for anyone to getting rhythm, especially these receivers.
- 14:54Speaker 1: But some good things out there, and one of the positives,
- 14:57Speaker 1: the only touchdown the Seahawks have scored offensive against these
- 15:00Speaker 1: forty nine ers all season was no Fans touchdown in
- 15:03Speaker 1: the coach's corner. Will break that one down. Gino from
- 15:07Speaker 1: the shotgun, looks to the end zone, throws wide open
- 15:11Speaker 1: touch out Seahawks. No fat All by himself between the safeties,
- 15:18Speaker 1: makes the catch, falls back on his wallet and the
- 15:21Speaker 1: Seahawks now twenty one twelve the Niners on top. A
- 15:27Speaker 1: nice drive by the Seahawks. They're gonna go for the
- 15:30Speaker 1: pat right here, but a nine yard reception by Fant
- 15:34Speaker 1: for the six. Yeah, this is um this is simple
- 15:39Speaker 1: football right here. This is Gino taking what the defense
- 15:41Speaker 1: has given him to get a two by two cent
- 15:43Speaker 1: Gino's in shotgun with kin Walker on the right side
- 15:46Speaker 1: of him. Kin Walker releases a field because you don't
- 15:48Speaker 1: have an extra man going. They're only rushing four the
- 15:50Speaker 1: forty nine ers, And what he does, he sits around
- 15:53Speaker 1: five yards and when he happened. When he does that,
- 15:55Speaker 1: he takes the MIC linebacker and the SAM linebacker with him.
- 16:00Speaker 1: That creates space for no offense. No offense on the
- 16:02Speaker 1: right side, he's gonna run what we call a bender.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Once you give by that second linebacker. That assuming that
- 16:08Speaker 1: that second level, that Sam linebacker, you start to bend
- 16:10Speaker 1: and look for space. Now the forty nine ers are
- 16:13Speaker 1: in a too high look. You got two safeties and
- 16:15Speaker 1: one to the to no offense side naturally expands because
- 16:18Speaker 1: you got Tyler Lockett. Tyler Lockett takes an insight release
- 16:21Speaker 1: to that corner, so it kind of grabs the attention
- 16:23Speaker 1: of that safety. He shifts over to Tyler Lockett's side.
- 16:27Speaker 1: On the other side, you got a dig rout by
- 16:29Speaker 1: your slot receiver and they go. But all it is
- 16:32Speaker 1: is ken Walker attracted the linebackers, Lockett attracting the safety,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and no offense bending around that second linebacker, Geno being
- 16:40Speaker 1: on time, easy throw, easy catch, much needed. Yeah, bump.
- 16:46Speaker 1: They kind of happened simultaneously. You talk about Kenn Walker
- 16:48Speaker 1: affecting a Sam linebacker right at the exact same time
- 16:51Speaker 1: as Hofunga. The safety is kind of leaning towards Lockett
- 16:54Speaker 1: is exactly when the same linebackers coming down, and that
- 16:57Speaker 1: leaves that a window at the same time, kind of
- 16:59Speaker 1: like on a string, move these defensive players around like
- 17:01Speaker 1: that great execution down the stretch. I just wish it
- 17:04Speaker 1: didn't take as long as it did to get down there.
- 17:07Speaker 1: But I'd love to see no getting in the end zone.
- 17:10Speaker 1: And man, bum we had we were riding high, we
- 17:12Speaker 1: had a four game win streak, we were feeling good.
- 17:15Speaker 1: It's been a rough month, man, I'm not gonna lie
- 17:17Speaker 1: to you, it's been The Seahawks have lost four or
- 17:19Speaker 1: five after that four game wins streak, and unfortunately for
- 17:24Speaker 1: it feels like a lot recently. The clock just ran
- 17:26Speaker 1: out an taking fine Huntley, They're just gonna let the
- 17:32Speaker 1: clock wind down, Peach not even gonna bother taking that
- 17:34Speaker 1: last time out. The biggest storyline coming into this game
- 17:38Speaker 1: was that Seahawk defense. What were they gonna do? Could
- 17:41Speaker 1: they stop the hemorrhaging, could they stop the bleeding? Could
- 17:44Speaker 1: they do something about that run defense? And they didn't
- 17:47Speaker 1: completely shut down the forty nine ers, but they were
- 17:49Speaker 1: dramatically improved over the last couple of weeks. You left
- 17:53Speaker 1: that game being like, that's a good football team. We
- 17:55Speaker 1: know what they can do. They had a week to
- 17:56Speaker 1: repair Kyle Shanahan, Pee Carroll, they know each other, they
- 17:59Speaker 1: know their stuff. Didn't have out woods. He lost Brian
- 18:01Speaker 1: Money nor Jordan Brooks. So yeah, I'm gonna look at
- 18:04Speaker 1: a glass half full. You know. It wasn't the dominant
- 18:07Speaker 1: performance you'd hope, but for the guys there, I would
- 18:10Speaker 1: bump what I noticed. They were playing faster, Yeah, and
- 18:13Speaker 1: they tackled better. They still miss some tackles. Of course,
- 18:15Speaker 1: but I felt like they were playing faster, more aggressive,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and they're like, hey, we're here, as opposed to a
- 18:20Speaker 1: couple of weeks before. It didn't really feel like the
- 18:22Speaker 1: defensive we feel like the other team could get whatever
- 18:23Speaker 1: they wanted, and they really only gave up fourteen points.
- 18:26Speaker 1: So I'm encouraged, unfortunately and get the job done, But
- 18:29Speaker 1: I'm encouraged what I saw it defensively. Yeah, you gotta
- 18:32Speaker 1: be encouraged. If you watched the game, you felt the game,
- 18:35Speaker 1: you saw some improvement there. But on the negative side,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you lost two players Brian Molney has done for the
- 18:40Speaker 1: year with an Aco, then Tyler Lockett, like we mentioned,
- 18:43Speaker 1: broke his index finger. So guys are gonna have to
- 18:45Speaker 1: step up man in the absence of one of the
- 18:48Speaker 1: best to do with Tyler Lockett, and then Brian Money,
- 18:50Speaker 1: a guy who's in that rotation and the rookie tackles man.
- 18:53Speaker 1: It has some tip players against Bosa Bosa, it's probably
- 18:56Speaker 1: gonna get a defensive Player of the Year man, and
- 18:59Speaker 1: he made him look like rook he's at times. But
- 19:02Speaker 1: this year and we're not done with this year. But
- 19:04Speaker 1: when we look back at this year and all the
- 19:06Speaker 1: trials that these tackles have gone through, all the wins
- 19:09Speaker 1: and losses, is gonna make them better for the future,
- 19:12Speaker 1: no question about it. Ray was talking about it, and
- 19:14Speaker 1: Ray as a unique perspective set out to Ray, who
- 19:16Speaker 1: did the color on the game on Thursday. Dave Wyman
- 19:19Speaker 1: had a little illness, so Ray stepped in. But just
- 19:21Speaker 1: talking to him after the game and he's like, man,
- 19:24Speaker 1: it's weird to say talking about it. Welcome to the
- 19:26Speaker 1: NFL moment in week fifteen. Yeah, but that just is
- 19:29Speaker 1: what it is. It's a long season. You're playing longer
- 19:31Speaker 1: than you ever have and you're going up against the
- 19:33Speaker 1: best defensive linemen in the NFL. And it was just
- 19:36Speaker 1: one of those days where Ray was saying that just
- 19:37Speaker 1: stuffing work, long sets, short sets, attacking, whatever it was.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Nick Boster just had to kind of figure out the
- 19:43Speaker 1: second half and it was tough for them, And like
- 19:46Speaker 1: you said, they're gonna learn from it. I think hopefully
- 19:49Speaker 1: by next year, even later this season to laugh about
- 19:51Speaker 1: that and be like, man, we've come so far, so
- 19:54Speaker 1: we'll see what happens there. Forty Niners are a good team.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I don't want to give them too much credit because
- 20:00Speaker 1: they can be beat, but bump it was. I won't.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I'm happy when I up to see a defense again.
- 20:07Speaker 1: How about that, I mean not seeing that front again.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I'm good. Yeah, man, Niners were a good team. They
- 20:14Speaker 1: win the division. But the Hawks still got a chance
- 20:17Speaker 1: to make the playoffs. But they gotta take care of business.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Man to start set out arrowhead Christmas Eve, give us
- 20:22Speaker 1: an early Christmas President, I would greatly appreciate that. Seahawks,
- 20:25Speaker 1: and they give yourselves a present and set yourself up. Man.
- 20:29Speaker 1: But one game out of time, three left, Let's go
- 20:32Speaker 1: down to Kansas City and the handle business. No question
- 20:35Speaker 1: about it. They got a long weekend here. It's not
- 20:36Speaker 1: really long weekend. They played two games in four days,
- 20:38Speaker 1: so I'm not saying that, but a couple of days
- 20:40Speaker 1: for the players get their bodies to recover. Hopefully when
- 20:43Speaker 1: they come back on Monday. Get ready for Patrick Mahomes
- 20:45Speaker 1: in those Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Eve. Will be
- 20:47Speaker 1: in the holiday spirit talking to you guys next week,
- 20:51Speaker 1: looking forward for the Seahawks to bounce back and try
- 20:53Speaker 1: to get it dub against the Chiefs. Keep those playoff
- 20:55Speaker 1: hopes alive. He's Michael Bumps of nasty Choby. This has
- 20:58Speaker 1: been OK talk the recaptition and unfortunately Seahawks fall to
- 21:02Speaker 1: the forty nine ers twenty one to thirteen, and we
- 21:04Speaker 1: will talk to you guys next week
