- 0:00You're listening to Bantor with the boys talking all things sports.
- 0:08From betting and brawls, Superball to Stanley Cup finals.
- 0:12Get laced up.
- 0:14It's time for Bantor with the boys.
- 0:21What's up everybody?
- 0:22Welcome back to Bantor with the boys.
- 0:24We are back at you with some NFL talk.
- 0:27It's been far too long and we are back.
- 0:29We're going to be doing this weekly, recapping some of the NFL season.
- 0:33We're a little bit into it at this point, obviously, as week five is upon us.
- 0:38But today I have with me Mr. Smeltzi.
- 0:40How you doing?
- 0:41How you feeling, good sir?
- 0:42Hey man.
- 0:43Well, I'm just happy to be back at this NFL pod.
- 0:47It's been too long.
- 0:48I'm happy to talk some more football.
- 0:50And I'm still not a millionaire.
- 0:51So let's talk about these professional millionaires here and try to get some change.
- 1:01Let's do it, man.
- 1:02Let's do it.
- 1:03So typically we would also have our brother Kyle with us as well.
- 1:06However, he is under the weather this week.
- 1:09So he is going to take a week off and hopefully be back with us next week.
- 1:13We wish you the best in wealth, quick recovery here, Kyle.
- 1:17And as always, we have Mr. Kevin on the ones and twos, couldn't do it without your brother.
- 1:22We do appreciate you, good sir.
- 1:24Well let's get into meat and potatoes here, Smeltzi.
- 1:26We have week five just happened this past weekend.
- 1:29Going into Monday as well with my Packers playing.
- 1:32Well, I mean, I guess they did play a game.
- 1:35You can't really say they showed up.
- 1:37But before we get into that, we're going to kick it over to your Vikings, sir.
- 1:42Big match up against Patrick Mahomes and the Swifties, the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 1:48Oh my God.
- 1:50They're probably going to have a fan section now called the Swifties.
- 1:53You know, this is going to happen.
- 1:56Actually, during the game, I did see somebody with a custom jersey that had 87 on it and
- 2:02then said Swiftie as the last name.
- 2:03I was like, oh Lord Jesus, it's already started.
- 2:06It has already started.
- 2:07But yes, my Vikings did play a game against the Chiefs, a winnable game.
- 2:14They played well.
- 2:15I think defensively they played very well.
- 2:18It just wasn't enough.
- 2:20It just wasn't enough.
- 2:21I mean, the Viking season as a whole right now is weird, right?
- 2:26I mean, last year they were 11 and 0 in one score games.
- 2:29And so far, every game they've played this year is a one score game, which means they
- 2:33are one and four in one score games this year, which actually a lot of us fans that are at
- 2:41least can understand the game knew that that was a possibility.
- 2:44I mean, going 11 and 0 in one score games, how likely is that to happen again?
- 2:49Very unlikely.
- 2:50However, you know, as a fan, you know, we felt we had a pretty good team going into
- 2:56the season.
- 2:57And again, like seven, we've given not not we, right, especially not we right now.
- 3:04I don't play for the Vikings.
- 3:07Let that be known.
- 3:08Smelty does not play for the Vikings.
- 3:10Just so y'all know, you're right.
- 3:11Like I stated earlier, I'm not a millionaire.
- 3:14But so far, they've given up, given up seven turnovers in the first quarter alone through
- 3:21five weeks.
- 3:23That's just crazy.
- 3:24I mean, you look at this past game, first offensive drive, big free agent, tight end
- 3:30signing John Oliver fumbles the football.
- 3:33You just you just can't do that against the Kansas City Chiefs team.
- 3:37I literally saw that play and I'm really good at throwing my hat.
- 3:42I guess I threw my hat on the ground just in my living room, you know, whatever, and
- 3:47discussed because I just I couldn't believe it.
- 3:50I literally said, you cannot make this shit up.
- 3:54You can't.
- 3:55They keep turning the ball over to start the game.
- 3:57You can't start a game like that.
- 3:59Yes, it's how you finish, right?
- 4:00Not how you start typically in anything, right?
- 4:04But it's just it's so unacceptable.
- 4:05And it's the same deal every week.
- 4:07What are they going to do to change it?
- 4:08I have no idea.
- 4:09I have no idea.
- 4:11So looking at the game itself, you know, two quarterbacks both played pretty well, I would
- 4:16say Patrick Mahomes is just an absolute freak of nature what he what he can do.
- 4:23The no look passes, the sidearm stuff.
- 4:26He throws it when you don't think he's about to throw it.
- 4:28It's ridiculous.
- 4:29It's nasty in a good way.
- 4:32So obviously we know the Vikings took the L twenty seven twenty.
- 4:36There is a couple negatives to come out of that game from both teams, actually.
- 4:40So J.J.
- 4:41Justin Jefferson actually just went to I.R. this morning.
- 4:46So he is done for at least four weeks.
- 4:49He got Travis Kelsey, which I believe was a lower ankle sprain or strength sprain.
- 4:54My bad, my bad.
- 4:57I believe he might actually play.
- 4:59I think they play on Thursday.
- 5:00The Chiefs, if I remember correctly.
- 5:04So he could play if it was a high ankle sprain, it would be a much bigger problem.
- 5:07But I thought I read that his low ankle sprain.
- 5:09So he let's say he's questionable for Thursday.
- 5:12But other than that, it looks like you had a question for me, Tyler.
- 5:18Yeah, man.
- 5:19So as a Vikings fan, it's you had the utmost luck last year with 11 and 0 in the one score
- 5:26game.
- 5:27The luck has turned around this year.
- 5:28Do you think this is something that they can right the wrong?
- 5:31Can they get the ship going?
- 5:32What's it going to take to get out of this little slump here?
- 5:35Like this season, you're saying?
- 5:36This season.
- 5:37What can we do to turn around this season?
- 5:38Correct.
- 5:39You know, it's a one in four start.
- 5:42I'm going to tell you what, they have to beat the Bears this week and we'll get into that
- 5:45a little bit later.
- 5:47But they have to beat the Bears this week.
- 5:48Let's say they lose to the Bears, right?
- 5:50I don't think Kirk Cousins goes anywhere.
- 5:52I think you're running out of time for that.
- 5:54I think like the Jets, right, would maybe make a move.
- 5:58I think you're running out of time for that.
- 6:00I think you see Daniel Hunter get traded.
- 6:03I think he's gone.
- 6:04He's on a one year deal.
- 6:05I think 20 mil.
- 6:07I don't see him back in purple next season anyway.
- 6:10I think you get what you can for him and go from there.
- 6:14I do believe, I'll leave you at this.
- 6:17I do believe that if they see JJ as their long term plan, so he's under contract this
- 6:22season and next season, if they want to keep JJ here, they need to re-sign Kirk Cousins.
- 6:33Unless they have some sort of magic plan for some other veteran quarterback.
- 6:37But I don't think if you tank, I don't know if JJ's really going to have the patience
- 6:42for a rookie quarterback.
- 6:44He likes Kirk.
- 6:45He came out this spring and said, I like Kirk being my quarterback.
- 6:49I love catching passes from him.
- 6:50And yeah, that could be a PR move, right?
- 6:52You're on the same team as the guy.
- 6:53You don't want to piss him off right before the season.
- 6:56But I think that's like, I think he wants to play with a veteran quarterback.
- 7:00I don't think he's going to have the patience to want to play with a rookie quarterback.
- 7:03So I think that's something to keep an eye on.
- 7:06That's interesting.
- 7:08That's interesting.
- 7:09I've got a lot of Vikings fans here in Minnesota right now that A, want Kirk back, two, think
- 7:15he's coming back, or three, think he'll be here by the end of the year at this point.
- 7:19But I've yet to actually hear anybody say that it's what it's going to take to get JJ
- 7:24back.
- 7:25I don't know if I would necessarily agree with that.
- 7:28I think the veteran quarterback, that's out of the equation.
- 7:30There's nobody that you're going to sign that's going to give you a better chance of winning
- 7:33and capitalizing JJ's prime than someone like Kirk Cousins.
- 7:37They did just veteran top tier quarterbacks just simply don't hit the market.
- 7:41So I think, I don't know if the Vikings will end up having a bad enough season to get a
- 7:47Caleb Williams.
- 7:48I just don't know if I could see, I don't think it's going to be that extent.
- 7:53But you know, there's the prospects of the Drake Mays, the Bo Nixs, the Shudder Sanders.
- 8:00Would that be tempting enough for JJ to give it one or two years and maybe sign a one or
- 8:04two year deal, which is the kind of direction the receivers are going so they can re-up
- 8:08again when that market increases?
- 8:11I don't know.
- 8:12That's interesting.
- 8:13I don't, if I was JJ, whether it's Kirk Cousins or a rookie quarterback, if I'm going to re-sign
- 8:17with the Vikings, I don't think I would sign more than a two year deal with maybe a third
- 8:20year player option.
- 8:22So if the Vikings lay down some fat deal right in front of JJ, you think he may not sign
- 8:27that with the uncertainty at the quarterback position you're saying?
- 8:30Because I mean, I agree with you, because I think that's true, right?
- 8:35And I also agree that I don't think the Vikings will have a bad enough season to land a Caleb
- 8:40Williams, even though the Vikings, low key, are one of the five teams that he unofficially,
- 8:47but officially, but still unofficially said that he would want to play for in the NFL.
- 8:54I don't think Bo Nix is enough.
- 8:57Drake May, maybe.
- 8:59Listen, listen, I like Bo.
- 9:01I like Bo, and he's doing better in the organ system than he did in, I believe he played
- 9:06for Auburn.
- 9:07I remember seeing him in the SEC.
- 9:10I don't know, bro.
- 9:12We'll have to see Bo in the NFL, but I don't think that's enough to keep JJ here.
- 9:16But I like your idea, though.
- 9:17Sign a two year deal and see what the Vikings do.
- 9:21You put it in their hands, then.
- 9:22You sign two years, let's say the Vikings don't do anything.
- 9:25Okay, now you leave, for sure.
- 9:27And that's from a Vikings fan, that hurts, because JJ's like a second coming at Randy
- 9:31Moss, I'm serious.
- 9:33But I feel it, I feel it.
- 9:35But enough about my Vikings, we've already talked way too long about a team that's one
- 9:40in four right now.
- 9:41What about your Packers, bro?
- 9:43Because I saw a game last night that was on TV that didn't go the way of some of my local
- 9:52friends here.
- 9:53Too many Packer fans in Minnesota as is, but what did you see?
- 9:59Well Smelty, I can't say I really enjoyed watching any part of that game that I did
- 10:06bear witness to last night.
- 10:08The Packers, I don't know, man.
- 10:12Is Aaron Jones that important to an offense where if you look at our week one, even week
- 10:16two and three, yeah, we didn't win the week two game against the Falcons.
- 10:23But this offense is just flat without Jonesy in the backfield.
- 10:27AJ Dillon doesn't seem to know how to find a hole, let alone hit one.
- 10:32The guy's huge and I don't know, that's a whole nother story.
- 10:37He's a complimentary back.
- 10:38He's nothing more than a complimentary back at this point.
- 10:40He's in a contract year.
- 10:42He says how much he wants to stay in Green Bay, but at this point, why would we keep
- 10:45him?
- 10:46Saying that, he did have his best performance with 76 yards.
- 10:48However, he only averaged 3.8 yards of carry.
- 10:52We didn't have a huge semblance of a run game and that led to Jordan Love doing apparently
- 11:00what he's going to do this year and hover around the 50-55% completion percentage mark.
- 11:04I just don't simply seem to understand how you can do that in a Matt LaFleur offense
- 11:08that's designed on those underneath, those get the ball out of your hands really quick
- 11:12and then open up that free agency, or sorry, not free agency, open up that play action
- 11:18to get that ball down the field.
- 11:19We took a couple of shots.
- 11:20We hit Christian Watson on one that was a blown coverage by the Raiders.
- 11:24On that play, you could argue that was one of the plays of the games with Marcus Peters
- 11:28actually horse-collaring Christian Watson and preventing him from scoring a touchdown,
- 11:33which then the Raiders held the Packers to a field goal.
- 11:37The story of the game is the offense and the Packers just coming out flat.
- 11:40Jordan Love is not anything close to what we saw in the first two games of the year.
- 11:46I just don't know.
- 11:47I'm a lucky guy with being blessed with Farve Rogers, just this awesome quarterback play,
- 11:52Hall of Fame legendary quarterback play.
- 11:55Being in a Packers fan, I never really had to worry about a losing season.
- 11:58Missing the playoffs is rare.
- 12:00I feel like this is going to be a rebuilding year.
- 12:03We're the youngest team in the league.
- 12:05Our offense is obviously young.
- 12:07David Boctiari being out, don't know if he's ever going to play down with the Packers with
- 12:10the $40-plus million cap it next year.
- 12:13Why would we even want to bring that back at this point?
- 12:17It's this year is going to be a lot of disappointment because I feel like we're going to hang around
- 12:20and be in the games because our defense is pretty good.
- 12:24But I just don't see us winning games.
- 12:26Even look at the Saints game, it took Jameis Winston running the Saints to come back in
- 12:3017 points in the fourth quarter.
- 12:31We beat a Jameis Winston led Saints having to come back from a 17-point deficit that
- 12:35Derek Carr put him in and a Bears team that was apparently a different team than the last
- 12:41two weeks because they've looked incredible the last two weeks offensively.
- 12:46So I don't know what to really say at this point.
- 12:48Just disappointment across the board.
- 12:50Well defense looked good.
- 12:51Holding the Raiders to 17 points.
- 12:53Granted, it's the Raiders, their offense is pretty miserable too.
- 12:56Well I mean you've got Devondre Campbell on the defense, Minnesota boy.
- 13:00But yeah he's got hurt, he hasn't played in three weeks.
- 13:03Oh really?
- 13:04Yeah, I don't even know if he's going to be.
- 13:05So we've got a bye week next week.
- 13:06Oh my god.
- 13:07Hopefully he'll be back after that.
- 13:08So not only that, Quay Walker got hurt, got in I believe if I'm not mistaken it was a concussion.
- 13:13So we're already playing with Quay Walker and Isaiah, or is it Isaiah Duffy?
- 13:18One of them, yeah it's Isaiah Duffy on the Packers.
- 13:19Trent Duffy is the chief.
- 13:22So we're already playing with the third string in as the backup with, yeah so.
- 13:28Yeah I like Quay, that's a loss too.
- 13:30That dude, I like the way he plays.
- 13:31He's an athletic fella.
- 13:32Bakhtiari, 40 mil cap hit next year?
- 13:36Yeah what a great deal.
- 13:38Holy cow.
- 13:39It was designed where they're going to restructure at whatever void years or whatever you want
- 13:43to do, but yeah man it's a hefty cap hit.
- 13:45No that handcuffs you guys bad.
- 13:47Yeah that's crazy.
- 13:48Well that is the luxury of having such a young team, is we don't have any of those huge contracts
- 13:53on the books really.
- 13:54Not yet, not yet.
- 13:57Jordan Love's going to want a contract.
- 14:00If I'm not mistaken, well this is his fourth year, so he has next year, yeah so he has
- 14:07this year and next year left on his deal.
- 14:11I mean it's got to be Aaron Jones.
- 14:14That's got to be the biggest difference, you know, because obviously AJ Dillon's not getting
- 14:18it done on the ground right now for sure.
- 14:20So it's got to be Aaron Jones.
- 14:24That's a huge loss for your offense right now.
- 14:26Yeah and he's always been one of the most underrated backs in the league in my opinion.
- 14:30He's never really gotten his due credit.
- 14:32I mean when you got 12 playing behind center it's hard to give anybody else credit, but
- 14:37like he's a really good freaking back and he's missed.
- 14:42So hopefully the bye week gets him right and he comes back and we can turn it on because
- 14:46the NFC is just wide open right now.
- 14:48It's a pitiful conference.
- 14:49You know there's two powerhouses at the top.
- 14:53One of them got exposed, which we'll hop into right now.
- 14:56Unless if you have anything else on the Packer game you want to talk shit about with.
- 14:59Nah, let's run it.
- 15:01Alright so we had America's team, the Dallas Cowboys, traveling up to Santa Clara and going
- 15:06to play the San Francisco 49ers who are just an absolute buzzsaw right now.
- 15:16Wow, that offense is buzzing.
- 15:19That defense is just ferocious.
- 15:22I don't know what else to say at this point.
- 15:24That mixed in with Dak looking bad.
- 15:28Dak looked bad this weekend.
- 15:30He did.
- 15:31He, in my opinion, he had time to throw the ball.
- 15:35He had time to go through his reads for the most part right.
- 15:39That first pick by Dak, that was horrible.
- 15:42Now I get it.
- 15:43I think his first pick came when they were down 28 to 10 and he throws a deep ball on
- 15:48man coverage and you have a sit and but the Niners had safety help over the top.
- 15:53How do you not see the safety help bro?
- 15:55How do you not see that dude?
- 15:57Because he blended in with the, were they home?
- 16:01Were they in Dallas?
- 16:02Weren't they?
- 16:03No, they were way out of the 49ers.
- 16:05So dude just blended in with the logo then.
- 16:07The logo on midfield.
- 16:08I don't know.
- 16:09I don't know how you don't see the safety going over to help the man.
- 16:13And it's not like the receiver had his man beat.
- 16:16He didn't.
- 16:17It was great man coverage.
- 16:18I don't know who the corner was.
- 16:19Great coverage.
- 16:20And he still threw that ball.
- 16:22And then his second pick was a little tip pick.
- 16:25I don't blame him too much for that but he's still throwing to a receiver that was covered.
- 16:30And the third one was bad.
- 16:31Just bad.
- 16:32The third one was hilarious.
- 16:33He threw it straight to him.
- 16:34He threw it straight to him.
- 16:35He overthrew his receiver by 10, 12 yards?
- 16:37Yeah dude.
- 16:38So no that was the first one.
- 16:40That's the first one I'm talking about I'm pretty sure.
- 16:41The safety comes over the top and he overthrows him by a long shot.
- 16:45I know what you're talking about.
- 16:46I'm pretty sure that was that first one.
- 16:47Gotcha.
- 16:48Gotcha.
- 16:49The third one was like a middle linebacker, outside linebacker or whatever covering the
- 16:52flats or whatever.
- 16:53He throws it right to him.
- 16:54He throws it right to him.
- 16:55That was ridiculous.
- 16:56I don't know what he's looking at.
- 16:57Obviously he's trying to make a play.
- 16:59They're getting 28, 10.
- 17:01That's not good.
- 17:03I don't want to say you're getting blown out but you're on the way to getting blown out
- 17:06which happened.
- 17:08I don't know.
- 17:09It looked bad compared to Purdy.
- 17:13Let's talk about Purdy.
- 17:15How much longer can we say that he's a product of Kyle Shanahan's system?
- 17:1917 to 24, 252, 4 touchdowns, 140 yards.
- 17:2544.4 quarterback rating.
- 17:27He has the weapons.
- 17:29He has all the weapons.
- 17:30He has, in my opinion, it's not far and away the best weapons in the league.
- 17:35Him and the Dolphins or him.
- 17:37The Niners and the Dolphins I would say are 1A, 1B in terms of the offensive weaponry
- 17:41and talent but there's a steep decline after that and the guy doesn't make mistakes.
- 17:49He's smart and he's putting the ball in windows.
- 17:52That good quarterbacks put him in and bad quarterbacks just don't make the throws.
- 17:56His pocket presence too.
- 17:58Like yes he got good protection this weekend but knowing when that pocket is collapsing,
- 18:05a lot of that is almost uncoachable.
- 18:09You have to feel it.
- 18:10You have to sense it or catch it out your peripheral, whatever it may be.
- 18:14As you watch him play and how he moves inside the pocket, that's next level.
- 18:21He's doing his next level.
- 18:23You almost cannot, he'll always be Mr. Irrelevant but he's living up past that name for sure.
- 18:32You look at Mr. Irrelevant, how can the Niners build the team around him and get all that
- 18:36weaponry and that talent?
- 18:38Because you're paying for a seventh round quarterback.
- 18:41The Jaguars are paying for the first overall pick in Trevor Lawrence two years ago.
- 18:45Yeah, they've been able to put talent.
- 18:47They've spent money the last two off seasons but you can't go out and sign the players
- 18:52the Niners are signing.
- 18:54Now don't get me wrong, John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan are drafting spectacularly as well and they're
- 19:03great schematic fits.
- 19:05It doesn't matter who's coaching the Niners defense at this point.
- 19:08They've been through Raheem Morris, D'Amico Ryan, now Steve Wilkes.
- 19:13The defense doesn't change.
- 19:14Their perennial top five, I would even argue top three defense, their plug and play guys
- 19:19outside of the Fred Warners, the Nick Boses.
- 19:21Don't get me wrong, those are generational talents.
- 19:24But you look at their secondary, there's not one star studded secondary player.
- 19:27The only one you can make an argument for is Tardavious Ward.
- 19:30Now Talanoa Hofunga has popped off the last two years but you also really didn't hear
- 19:36of him after week five or six last year when he had that hot start.
- 19:40They're just an all around built solid football team.
- 19:45So are the 49ers the best team in the league right now?
- 19:50I don't think you can say they're not.
- 19:52Their offense can't be stopped.
- 19:55Their defense isn't going anywhere, hasn't gone anywhere for the last handful of years.
- 20:00The defense seems to only be improving.
- 20:02I mean Nick Bosa didn't have any sort of off season with the team so he's only going to
- 20:06get stronger.
- 20:07He really hasn't been a presence this season yet.
- 20:10If you really look at it and think about it, yeah he's more than just stats, what he brings
- 20:14to the defense.
- 20:15But I just don't see, in all honesty, I really don't see a weakness on this football team.
- 20:22Their special teams are stout.
- 20:24Yeah, I mean that's fair.
- 20:27They do rank number two in offense right now in the league and number three in defense.
- 20:35They are probably the best team in the NFL.
- 20:37I do think that Philly can challenge them.
- 20:40I think Philly's offense is good enough.
- 20:42I think their defense is young.
- 20:43They have a really good young defensive core that has already won a national championship
- 20:49at Georgia.
- 20:51So I think you just need to give them a little more time and go from there.
- 20:54Now you have an aging Darius Slay back there for Philly.
- 20:58But I mean, we'll see.
- 21:01We'll see.
- 21:02I think Philly would challenge them though for the NFC crown at least.
- 21:06I would agree.
- 21:07I think Philly's the only team in the NFC that could even give them anything close to
- 21:11a run for their money just because of their offense.
- 21:13And their defense, when they need to make a big play, they make a big play.
- 21:17Yeah, they've given up quite a few points this year.
- 21:19But overall, I mean, they're solid foundational pieces at every level of the defense.
- 21:24They have the experience.
- 21:26They are young, yes, but they have the SEC prowess, the playoffs the last couple of years.
- 21:32There's not too many players left on the team that played in the Super Bowl, but there's
- 21:36still a handful left over.
- 21:39And I just don't think that to me, when you look at the Niners and the Eagles, you could
- 21:45go back and forth all day in terms of the overall talent.
- 21:48I think ultimately what it comes down to is Kyle Shanahan versus Nick Sirianni.
- 21:54And I'm taking Kyle Shanahan every single day of the week.
- 21:57I think I can agree on that, no doubt.
- 22:00Yeah, I guess I got nothing else to say on that matter of it.
- 22:03So what about the AFC?
- 22:05Who do you think in the AFC?
- 22:06Because the AFC, I mean, if you were to ask me three weeks ago, I would say the Dolphins,
- 22:10no question about it.
- 22:11But then the Bills presumably figured out a way to shut down that Dolphins offense.
- 22:17And then the Bills laid an egg in London.
- 22:20Fluke.
- 22:21I think that's a fluke.
- 22:22I think the Dolphins offense is stupid.
- 22:26Well, give it time, right?
- 22:28We're only five weeks in.
- 22:29Anything can happen.
- 22:31You're going to have more injuries.
- 22:33That's just a matter of fact.
- 22:36You look at the Bills and injuries, though.
- 22:39The Bills have gotten the injury bug every single one of the last couple of years and
- 22:42they have it right now.
- 22:44And they were still able, they lost Trey White in that game against the Dolphins.
- 22:48Have they won a Super Bowl yet?
- 22:50Have the Dolphins?
- 22:51The Bills.
- 22:52No.
- 22:53They've overcame the injuries, but they keep falling short.
- 22:56I think the Dolphins have what it could take to go that extra bit to win the AFC.
- 23:03Do I think they beat the Chiefs?
- 23:04No.
- 23:05I think the only reason I would disagree with you in terms of the Dolphins having what it
- 23:09takes, the defense can't stop a fucking nosebleed.
- 23:13And they had a lot of injuries early.
- 23:17The only key component, it's a big one, that they're missing on their defense right now
- 23:22is Jalen Ramsey.
- 23:23Facts.
- 23:24But Jalen Ramsey doesn't affect the run game.
- 23:25Isn't Xavier Howard out too?
- 23:27Xavier Howard's been playing.
- 23:28I thought he was out to start the season at least.
- 23:32The biggest concern for me with the Dolphins though, it's not so much their secondary because
- 23:35they do have, you know, when Xavier Howard is healthy and playing, he's a top six, seven
- 23:41quarterback in the league.
- 23:42Jalen Ramsey's top one or three, obviously, he's top three.
- 23:45And then they have Javon Holland back there at safety, who's young, but he's a stud.
- 23:49He doesn't get any flowers that he's due, but he's a stud.
- 23:53So I think they have the pieces.
- 23:55I'm more worried about their front seven in their run game.
- 23:58And they have not been able to pressure the passer.
- 24:01They traded for Bradley Chubb, gave him all that money.
- 24:04He hasn't been worth a damn.
- 24:06Yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 24:08And it turns out I'm tripping on Xavier Howard anyway.
- 24:10Like I guess he did play since the first week.
- 24:12So whatever.
- 24:13I could have sworn they lost him and Jalen Ramsey.
- 24:17So just ignore me.
- 24:18Whatever.
- 24:19That's fine.
- 24:20But yeah, I mean, in the AFC, for me, it's still the Chiefs.
- 24:25It still runs through Arrowhead because of Patrick Mahomes.
- 24:30He I want I don't want to I'm not saying I want to hate him, but I'm trying to find
- 24:37flaws in his game.
- 24:40Every game I happen to catch of his whatever, of course, they just beat the Vikings.
- 24:45But every time I see him play, I try to find a flaw or something like, oh, he's got to
- 24:50work on that.
- 24:51Right.
- 24:52But like, I don't know.
- 24:53The only thing that I could say to that is he forces the ball in a lot of situations
- 25:00and he gets bailed out, I would say more so more so than other quarterbacks with the
- 25:06defense is simply dropping interceptions.
- 25:09It's an impossible thing to really track.
- 25:12And if you're going to have a flaw as a quarterback, the defense dropped the ball.
- 25:16If that's the only thing you can pinpoint when it's not something that is consistently
- 25:19happening by any means.
- 25:21But if you if you can't improve anything besides when you do get that one throw that the defense
- 25:24might drop, I'd say that's a pretty damn good flaw to have is you're throwing the ball so
- 25:29good the defense can't even catch it.
- 25:31So the biggest thing where I think the Chiefs are going to start excelling more so to is
- 25:35they've actually started to get Pacheco in the run game involved to getting him going.
- 25:40So they have some sort of balanced offense.
- 25:41They're not just relying on Travis Kelsey.
- 25:43We all know the struggles they've had at the receiving corps.
- 25:46So I think with that balanced offense and then was Steve Spagnuolo as the defensive
- 25:50coordinator, he's probably one of if not the best schematic defensive coordinator in the
- 25:55game.
- 25:56He can scheme against any high profile offense and just seem to shut down the piece that
- 26:01makes them excel.
- 26:02Yeah, no doubt.
- 26:03I mean, I agree with everything you're saying about Pacheco.
- 26:07I think Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Halair are low key becoming like under the radar one,
- 26:12two punch.
- 26:14They still used Edwards-Halair this weekend more in like a power back role.
- 26:19I guess we'll see, right?
- 26:21And then you had Chris Jones return on the defense this year, which was a big deal.
- 26:25I think he sat out, was it just the first game?
- 26:27It might have been the first two, just the first game.
- 26:30So we'll see.
- 26:33We'll see.
- 26:35But enough talk about the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
- 26:38Another quarterback in the AFC I'd like to mention would be Lamar Jackson.
- 26:43They had a big game this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers, division game.
- 26:48Yeah, it was a really sloppy game with a Lamar pick in the fourth quarter in the end zone.
- 26:55That was ugly.
- 26:56With four minutes left, that was an ugly pass, shouldn't have happened.
- 27:00And then he fumbles.
- 27:01They get the ball back and then Lamar fumbles with just over a minute left in the game.
- 27:08Now I'm not saying, you know, ultimately the Ravens lost this game, as you may or may not
- 27:12know.
- 27:13The Steelers took the lead in the division now at three and two.
- 27:17The Ravens are also three and two, but obviously the Steelers now have that tie break.
- 27:21But it wasn't all on Lamar.
- 27:23His receivers had a lot of drops.
- 27:25Almost, or not almost, it was eight drops and almost two of them could have been TDs.
- 27:31If your receivers are out there dropping, not sure TDs, but closest thing to it without
- 27:36it being a sure thing, you can't win those games.
- 27:40So I just, I don't know.
- 27:43Zay Flowers fell on a deep route that was six.
- 27:47It's just one thing after another for the Ravens, man.
- 27:51So that was the only thing I really wanted to mention about it was how sloppy it was.
- 27:56And TJ Watt coming up at the end with a sack to seal it.
- 28:01But Pittsburgh's got to work on their, oh, it's stagnant.
- 28:03You have George Pickens.
- 28:05That's it.
- 28:06That's all you got right now.
- 28:07Pickett's looking iffy.
- 28:10I guess we'll see with Pittsburgh, but at the moment they lead the AFC North.
- 28:13Yeah, I don't know how many more games the Pittsburgh's going to go with Matt Canada
- 28:16behind the offensive play calling.
- 28:18I mean, what more do you need to see to prove that this guy just simply isn't it?
- 28:24They have talent.
- 28:25They came into the years, what was projected to be a really good offensive line.
- 28:29They have vastly underplayed.
- 28:31They have talent on offense.
- 28:32I mean, you have Najee Harris.
- 28:34He hasn't done a damn thing.
- 28:35Jalen Warren's come out, been impressive.
- 28:38You have George Pickens, just throw the guy the damn ball at this point.
- 28:43Why wouldn't you?
- 28:44The guy goes up, he makes these stupid catches and he comes down with the ball.
- 28:50No kidding.
- 28:51I mean, I was just thinking earlier today, I don't know if you remember when we were
- 28:54kids there was that show called Sports Science.
- 28:57I don't remember what channel was on Discovery, maybe, I don't know.
- 29:01But they did a little football segment all the time or what, Sports Science, whatever.
- 29:05So it was whatever sport.
- 29:06I want to know what George Pickens catch radius is because like you said, you just throw the
- 29:11ball up to him, man.
- 29:12And then you have, what's his name?
- 29:14The tight end, Pat Fairmuth or whatever.
- 29:16Hey, that dude can get you a first down.
- 29:18There's your first down, man.
- 29:19You got your, I don't even want to say deep threat, your whatever threat in George Pickens.
- 29:24And then you got to get the run game established with Najee Harris.
- 29:28He's a good back.
- 29:29Get him going, man.
- 29:30You got to get that run game going to open up the passing game.
- 29:34Yeah, this offense is just stagnant.
- 29:37It's sad to watch, to be honest with you.
- 29:41You know, I mean, Kenny Pickett, I was pretty, I thought Pittsburgh was a great fit for him.
- 29:46Hometown kid goes into Pittsburgh.
- 29:50It's who everybody wanted in Pittsburgh.
- 29:53I don't know how much we can put it on Kenny Pickett at this point with how elementary
- 29:59this play calling is.
- 30:01You look at the pass to Pickens, puts them up this 17-10 lead that they eventually won
- 30:05by the game winning score.
- 30:07They go to the box.
- 30:08Everybody in the offensive box is just rearing, cheering, roaring, cheering.
- 30:12Matt Canada is stone faced.
- 30:14Looks like he's up.
- 30:15He looks unhappy to be there.
- 30:17It might not have been his play call then.
- 30:19You know what I mean?
- 30:20So it wasn't his play call.
- 30:21If you actually look at it.
- 30:22So Matt Canada called the play, the play that Pickens scored on.
- 30:26Kenny Pickett audible, the Randy, Randy, which everybody's leading to believe it's Randy.
- 30:31Moss, Pickens.
- 30:32So Pickett, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful play at the line, recognizing what you have.
- 30:37You have Pickens outside against man coverage, no safety help, and he's pressed up against
- 30:42him.
- 30:43Randy, Randy hits him on that deep ball, scores the touchdown.
- 30:46You want to Matt, is he upset that Pickett audible out of it and scored and just showed,
- 30:50well, hey, maybe Kenny Pickett should run this offense.
- 30:53Right.
- 30:54Yeah, no doubt.
- 30:55I mean, that's gotta be what it is.
- 30:57It's gotta be what it is.
- 30:58So I don't know.
- 31:00With that, Steelers are in the lead of the North.
- 31:04Yeah, Raven's got some work to do.
- 31:07Needless to say, they got a, I don't know if they got to hit the jug machine this week
- 31:10for the receiving room or what, but they better be ready to play against the Titans this week.
- 31:17Well that's enough about week five.
- 31:19So we haven't really prefaced how we're going to do this podcast.
- 31:22So I'll do a little intermediate in the middle of the podcast.
- 31:25If we had better planning, more so on my behalf, I probably would have done this from the jump,
- 31:30let you know how this podcast is going to go.
- 31:31But hey, we play it by ear around here.
- 31:34So the first thing we're going to do every week is we're going to go over a recap of
- 31:37last week's predictions.
- 31:39So as we didn't have a podcast last week, we just had to just recap a couple of the
- 31:43games that we thought were the marquee matchups.
- 31:45But going forward, we will have five games every week that we will predict and then also
- 31:49recap the following week's podcast with two of those games will be the Packers or Vikings
- 31:54just due to our hometown fan hood.
- 31:56And just, you know, that's really why we watch football is to watch our favorite teams play.
- 32:01In the case of a bye week, for example, the Packers this week are on bye week.
- 32:04We'll just pick another game that week so we can always have that five game slate, which
- 32:08we will then predict the slate at the end of the podcast and then have a running tally
- 32:13each week.
- 32:14We'll keep you updated on that.
- 32:15And as we all know, I'll probably finish up top anyway.
- 32:18So oh my God, I'm sorry.
- 32:22I was so late to that.
- 32:23I was like listening to what you were saying and I was like, yeah, this is all really good.
- 32:27And then you came with like complete bullshit at the end.
- 32:30But I guess whatever, like you got to make filler filler info, right?
- 32:34Oh, I love it.
- 32:35I love it.
- 32:36So before we get into the five marquee or the five games we're going to do next week,
- 32:41we're going to get into the injuries.
- 32:43So we're going to call this the tent talk segment of the podcast.
- 32:46It could be big injuries that happened the week before.
- 32:48It could be some big signings that happened.
- 32:51It's the NFL.
- 32:52We don't really have the trade deadline like we do in the NBA.
- 32:55But if there's any big trades that happen, we'll just look at everything kind of all
- 32:59together and lump it into this section.
- 33:00We're going to call tent talk.
- 33:02As you know, there is the blue tent on the sidelines of the NFL now.
- 33:05So we're trying to be kind of as witty as we can here.
- 33:08But 10 talk for you this week.
- 33:10The first thing we're going to start with is just a couple of big injuries that we saw
- 33:13in the league.
- 33:14The biggest injury you can make an argument for in the whole, you know, the whole the
- 33:18whole slate of games was Matt Milano on the Buffalo Bills going down with a fractured
- 33:24right leg.
- 33:25He is done for the year.
- 33:27As we know, the Bills also lost Trey White to an Achilles injury last year.
- 33:30He's also done for the year.
- 33:31You can make an argument.
- 33:32Those are the two best defensive players on that team.
- 33:35Now they do have the safeties.
- 33:36You can make that argument for with against with Vaughn Miller coming back.
- 33:39He's always going to be up there.
- 33:41But if you look at the integral pieces of that team, Matt Milano, he's been one of the
- 33:45most underrated backs in the league for a number of years now.
- 33:48He finally got some recognition last year with some all pro and all pro bowl recognition.
- 33:53But that's a huge hit to that Buffalo defense, who when you look at the inside linebacker,
- 33:58just the you know, those middle backers in there, they lost Tremaine Edmonds to the Bears
- 34:01in the offseason.
- 34:03Matt Milano is expected to come in and fill that role.
- 34:05They don't have anybody to step in right now.
- 34:07They're relying on, you know, first and second year players to fill that role.
- 34:11And that's a tough ask to do in that loaded AFC West with, well, I guess what once would
- 34:16believe the loaded AFC West before Rogers got hurt.
- 34:20But I think that's going to be a really, really lasting, important injury for the Bills success
- 34:25this season.
- 34:26No kidding.
- 34:27I mean, a huge loss defensively for the Bills.
- 34:30Right now, Josh Allen doesn't I mean, he's playing well.
- 34:33Right.
- 34:34And I think a number of like high end analysts are claiming him to be the MVP of the league
- 34:38right now.
- 34:39There's is him and somebody else.
- 34:40I can't remember who.
- 34:44But to be honest with you, what I've seen from Josh Allen the last few years, I mean,
- 34:47he needs all the help he can get on defensively, defensively.
- 34:51I mean, and losing both those guys is just such a huge loss.
- 34:56We'll see how they can recover from that.
- 34:58Honestly, I guess we'll see.
- 35:01I do want to mention another AFC injury, if that's okay with you.
- 35:06Anthony Richardson going down with a possible sprained AC joint.
- 35:11It could be a lengthy injury.
- 35:13I saw a tweet today that said six to 12 weeks, but again, anybody can go on Twitter or rather
- 35:19X or whatever the heck it's called now.
- 35:23So I don't really know, but not looking good.
- 35:27And for those of you that want to say that Anthony Richardson needs to kind of, you know,
- 35:33take a step back a little bit or maybe, you know, stay in the pocket a little bit.
- 35:38I want to agree with you so badly, but I think he's just gotten unlucky this season, to be
- 35:44honest.
- 35:45Seeing the plays that he's gotten injured on, I think it's just unlucky.
- 35:48But one thing I will say is, you know, watching Lamar, we just touched on the Lamar Jackson
- 35:53game against Pittsburgh.
- 35:56And one thing I did see from him that I think Anthony Richardson should start doing is stay
- 36:01in the pocket more.
- 36:04Go through your reads first before you run.
- 36:06Anthony Richardson is almost, he's not run first, but he's as close as you can get, you
- 36:10know.
- 36:11And that was Lamar Jackson right away.
- 36:12And Lamar was getting injured and injured and injured.
- 36:15And now you're seeing him stand in the pocket more, move around the pocket a little bit
- 36:19more and find an open receiver rather than using his legs.
- 36:23However, when he does use his legs, it's killer, right?
- 36:27And that's Anthony Richardson to a T. Same deal.
- 36:30He can be killer if he uses his legs.
- 36:32It's just a matter of when, right?
- 36:34He needs to start making his reads first and just kind of go from there.
- 36:39One other injury thing I did want to mention.
- 36:41Oh, you got someone, Anthony Richardson.
- 36:43What's up?
- 36:44Yeah.
- 36:45So the thing with Anthony Richardson, I do agree with you where I think the learning
- 36:50to stay in the pocket and be comfortable in the pocket, that comes with time.
- 36:53He's a rookie.
- 36:54He's five games into his NFL career.
- 36:56You know, he's going to learn that over time.
- 36:58But I agree, the people saying that he needs to protect his body more, stop running and
- 37:02scrambling as much, you're taking away what makes the kid great.
- 37:06He's going to extend the play.
- 37:07He's going to give you that read option, run play, running ability.
- 37:11Do I think he needs to learn how to avoid contact better?
- 37:15Maybe take some to a jujitsu classes to learn how to fall?
- 37:19No, not necessarily.
- 37:20I mean, I think it just comes with time.
- 37:22You look at this past weekend, it was a routine tackle.
- 37:26He fell on his shoulder.
- 37:28To me, it just reminded me of when Rogers broke his collarbone when Anthony Barr tackled
- 37:33him.
- 37:34You know, the plays are different with Bitt Barr hitting them in the backfield and going
- 37:37for the sack versus Richardson running.
- 37:40But the way they fell, the injuries looked very similar.
- 37:44Now, Richardson, less degree, didn't break a collarbone luckily.
- 37:49But it's, you also, you can't hide the fact that the kid's played in four games and he's
- 37:56gotten hurt in four games.
- 37:59No doubt.
- 38:00And again, it's like a play style, right?
- 38:04So Anthony Richardson at Florida, Lamar Jackson at Louisville, you can rely on a guy's legs
- 38:10at college, even at the D1 level.
- 38:13If they're good enough, Sanders, you know, he can run too.
- 38:17But it's not his main thing.
- 38:18At Colorado, he throws the ball.
- 38:20You know, he still looks downfield first and then makes the play, right?
- 38:24I'm not saying he's better than these guys by any means, but I'm saying, I guess the
- 38:27point I'm trying to make is like Lamar at Louisville, Anthony Richardson at Florida,
- 38:32like you can carry, you can almost carry the team fully on that.
- 38:36Now you get to the NFL, it's a little bit different.
- 38:38They already know what they got coming in.
- 38:40That defense week one knows, hey, this dude killed it at Florida with his legs.
- 38:45We're going to key on that.
- 38:47We're going to make sure we're paying attention to that quarterback.
- 38:49If they're going to try to run some crazy option, we're going to know, you know?
- 38:53So it's just, I guess getting used to the NFL game and I can't talk, right?
- 38:58I've never played quarterback in the NFL.
- 38:59I have no idea, right?
- 39:01But it's just something to keep an eye on.
- 39:05I did want to mention one more AFC injury that actually may be the opposite, right?
- 39:10So we might be getting Austin Eckler back for the LA Chargers by Monday night's game,
- 39:16which would be a huge advantage for their offense.
- 39:19They've been missing them all year.
- 39:20The Chargers are starting to figure it out.
- 39:23So I don't know, look forward to that.
- 39:26Huge piece of that team.
- 39:28That's a big get not only for the Chargers, but for a lot of fantasy owners out there.
- 39:33Me included, me included.
- 39:35But I just, I don't know, it is a big deal, right?
- 39:37Again, like we were mentioning with teams earlier, you got to establish the run in order
- 39:43to open up that deep passing.
- 39:45And then once you start throwing it over the top, now teams are going to start playing
- 39:49back.
- 39:50They're going to start playing their linebackers back.
- 39:51Their safeties are going to maybe start playing a little further back.
- 39:54They're going to play more zone.
- 39:56Now you can run that maybe that inside zone run or whatever it may be.
- 40:00And now they're playing back up, blitzing.
- 40:03Now you throw it over the top.
- 40:05Football is a game of chess.
- 40:06It really is.
- 40:07You got to kind of feel what your opponent is going to do and kind of make a play off
- 40:10that.
- 40:11Well, that's enough tent talk.
- 40:15Let's get into this week's slate.
- 40:17We have five games for you guys.
- 40:20My packers are on a buy, so unfortunately I don't get to predict them.
- 40:22Well, let's say fortunately, because it's going to be hard for me not to predict them
- 40:25to win.
- 40:26And I really just don't think they're going to do a lot of that.
- 40:28So we have a special guest this week.
- 40:31We might do this every week.
- 40:32We might not.
- 40:33It's the first week.
- 40:34It's a pilot.
- 40:35Let's see what happens.
- 40:36But we're going to get the X's and the O's in the pod here.
- 40:38Mr. Kev Dogg is going to give some predictions.
- 40:41Now just a little to preface this here a little bit.
- 40:44Kevin doesn't follow football.
- 40:46So he's basing this simply strictly off of.
- 40:48Well, I don't know that that's for anybody to really decide.
- 40:52So you have a little bit of educated guesses here with Smelty and I.
- 40:56Now you can use the word educated very lightly, but we'll at least have a little bit of knowledge
- 41:01going into it.
- 41:02So we're going to kick this slate off.
- 41:03We have the Minnesota Vikings traveling down to the Windy City, taking on the Chicago Bears.
- 41:09Bears have looked good the last two weeks.
- 41:12The Vikings, however, go down to Chicago as a two and a half point favorite.
- 41:16Smelty Vikings on the road.
- 41:19Bears look good.
- 41:20What do you got straight up?
- 41:21A non homer pick.
- 41:23The Vikings.
- 41:24I know they're a better team than what their record shows.
- 41:29Bears are a dumpster fire.
- 41:31Vikings figure out how to get a win on the road.
- 41:34Probably getting T.J.
- 41:35Hockinson a little more involved and we'll look for a little bit more run game out of
- 41:38Madison and acres.
- 41:41What do you what do you think in Tyler for the Vikes Bears?
- 41:45This one means it's honestly hard to predict.
- 41:47Jefferson, not in the game.
- 41:49That's huge.
- 41:50I think the person you need to watch this week, Jordan Addison, I got him for a buck
- 41:54twenty five to touchdowns.
- 41:57Vikings are going to cover that two and a half point spread.
- 41:59Kev dog wrap us up, buddy.
- 42:01All right.
- 42:02As Tyler mentioned, I don't really follow football.
- 42:03Hockey is my jam, but I'll jump in here on this one.
- 42:06I'm going to go with the Bears.
- 42:07I don't know a ton about what's going on with them, but I do know that my boss is a diehard
- 42:10Bears fan and was pretty stoked about some stuff that happened earlier in the season.
- 42:14So we're going to ride the coattails of whatever she was happy about and go with those guys.
- 42:18So we have Kevin being the lone dog this week, picking the Bears.
- 42:22All right.
- 42:23Next game we have on the slate.
- 42:24To be honest with you, not a lot of marquee matchups this week.
- 42:27It's early in the season.
- 42:28There's not a ton of divisional playoff implications yet, but we chose four more here.
- 42:35We have the Cowboys going on to the West Coast, taking on the L.A. Chargers.
- 42:41It is a home game for the Chargers, but let's be honest.
- 42:43They don't really have much of those.
- 42:45It's predominantly going to be a Cowboys fan base, and the Cowboys go in with a two and
- 42:49a half point favorite.
- 42:51I'll kick us off on this one.
- 42:52I think the Cowboys are going to bounce back from this week.
- 42:55The Chargers defense is underwhelmed ever really since they had the marquee free agent signings.
- 43:00Cleo Mack has shown himself two weeks ago with the six sacks, but I just think this
- 43:03Cowboys offense is just too loaded, and it's a get back game for that Cowboys defense.
- 43:08Cowboys win this game by a touchdown.
- 43:10Kev Dogg, Cowboys, Chargers.
- 43:14Again, don't follow football here, but we're going to go Chargers on this one.
- 43:17I'm thinking the home team takes it.
- 43:18Obviously, the Cowboys had their issues that you guys mentioned earlier on in the pod.
- 43:21So short and sweet.
- 43:22I'm going to go Chargers on this one at the home.
- 43:25Smelty, what do you got?
- 43:27Yeah, so I'm going Chargers, right?
- 43:30If Eckler is back healthy, ready to go, Chargers get the win.
- 43:33I'm not going to change it up.
- 43:35Even if Eckler's not ready to go, I think Herbert's starting to find a little bit of
- 43:38rhythm.
- 43:39I think the Chargers get the win at home.
- 43:41Next game we have Lions, the brand new Lions.
- 43:48Going down to Tampa Bay, taking on the Baker Mayfield led Buccaneers.
- 43:54Lions favorite in this one, three points.
- 43:57Kev Dogg, what do you got?
- 43:59Going with the favorites here again.
- 44:00I don't know a ton about the Lions or the Buccaneers, but I just think the Lions are
- 44:04going to do pretty well this week.
- 44:05Just got a hunch.
- 44:06Smelty, what do you got?
- 44:08Yeah, to be honest with you, I'm going Lions too.
- 44:10I know the Buccaneers are three and one.
- 44:13I think this is a week that they slow their roll and figure out, hey, we're not as good
- 44:16as we think we are.
- 44:18I think the Lions are the real deal.
- 44:20They're going to run the NFC North this year, as much as that hurts my soul.
- 44:26Look for Jared Goff to have a big game.
- 44:28What do you got, Tyler?
- 44:29I would have to agree with you guys on this one.
- 44:31The Lions are the crown jewel of the NFC North at this point.
- 44:35I really do think they're the third or the fourth best team in the NFC.
- 44:39I don't believe in Baker Mayfield in the Bucs at this point.
- 44:41I need to see more.
- 44:42The NFC South is pitiful.
- 44:44Not quite as bad as the NFC North, but I think the Lions are going to take this one.
- 44:48The three points honestly kind of scares me.
- 44:50I could see this being a three point game, but I got the Lions by they're going to cover
- 44:54that three points.
- 44:56Second to last game on the slate for us here today, we have the Colts going down to Jacksonville.
- 45:00Duvall taking on the Jaguars.
- 45:04Jaguar is surprisingly coming in at this one as a four point favorite.
- 45:08Smelty, how do you feel about that?
- 45:11In Jacksonville, no Anthony Richardson for the Colts.
- 45:14However, Gardner Minshew is shown when he can come in.
- 45:16He's not that bad, but the fact that you got to say not that bad means he's still that
- 45:22bad.
- 45:23I'm going to go ahead with the Jaguars at home.
- 45:25Kev, what you got, bro?
- 45:27I'm going to agree.
- 45:28Jaguars at home.
- 45:29I feel like a four point spread is going to be tough.
- 45:31Just short and sweet.
- 45:32Tyler, bring us home, buddy.
- 45:33I'm going to have to disagree with you fellas on this one.
- 45:35I like this Colts team.
- 45:37I really do.
- 45:38They have young talent across the board.
- 45:40Their defense looks rejuvenated.
- 45:42Darius Leonard playing back to what he's capable of.
- 45:45DeForest Buckner is a force inside.
- 45:47I like Gardner Minshew.
- 45:48I think I don't think you could have scripted a better backup.
- 45:50He knows the system.
- 45:52The young receiving corps looks good.
- 45:53That Josh Downs last week looked good.
- 45:56And I think Justin, sorry, Jonathan Taylor is going to come back and go back to his original
- 46:00performance.
- 46:01But Zach Moss looks damn good this year.
- 46:04So I got the Colts in this one.
- 46:05I think they're going to cover that four points and I actually think they're going to win
- 46:07this game.
- 46:08Wow.
- 46:09Sorry, I'm just wowing.
- 46:12I don't know.
- 46:13We'll see.
- 46:14We'll see.
- 46:15It'd be crazy to see that.
- 46:16I just don't think it's going to happen.
- 46:17But anyway, go ahead.
- 46:18Go ahead.
- 46:19My bad.
- 46:20I think the big thing here is even if the Colts don't win, that four points just seems
- 46:23a bit too big for me at this point in the season.
- 46:26With how good the Colts have actually looked.
- 46:27The Jaguars beat the Bills last week, but that wasn't the Bills team we're used to seeing.
- 46:31So I don't know.
- 46:33I just I got a feeling about this Colts team this year.
- 46:35That might be the game of the week for us because I'm a little I'm a little torn on
- 46:38that, but I get what you're saying.
- 46:41I like what you're saying.
- 46:42I'm interested to see how that one plays out, to be honest with you.
- 46:45You know, Smelty, we were going to save this next one for the game of the week, but I don't
- 46:48think I could disagree with you.
- 46:50We got the Colts, Jaguars is the game of the week game to watch this week.
- 46:55What's your favorite matchup in that game, Smelty?
- 47:01I'm going to have to say, I don't know, I guess Jonathan Taylor against the entire Colts
- 47:06defense.
- 47:07I mean, I'm sorry, Jonathan Taylor against the entire Jaguars defense.
- 47:10I'm just curious to see if he's ready to play, you know, truly, because he got he did not
- 47:17get that many carries this past weekend.
- 47:18He's probably kind of on a lack of better terms, a pitch count, you know, he might still
- 47:24be on a pitch count going into this week.
- 47:26So I guess we'll kind of see what they have.
- 47:29But I guess my matchup is Jonathan Taylor against the Jaguars defense, specifically their defensive
- 47:34line.
- 47:35I would have to agree.
- 47:36I think the big thing is going to be the Colts running game, getting on the ground, getting
- 47:40running, relieve some of that pressure off of Minshew in this game and allow the Colts
- 47:43to to eat offensively.
- 47:45I would have to agree with you there.
- 47:46All right, we're going to wrap up the predictions for next week here with the Seahawks traveling
- 47:52to Ohio, Cincinnati and playing the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 47:57Bengals looked rejuvenated last week.
- 48:00They played the Cardinals.
- 48:01Let's take it with a grain of salt.
- 48:02The Bengals are coming in here as a two and a half point favorite.
- 48:05I like what I saw in the Bengals last week.
- 48:07I'll kick this one off.
- 48:08I think the Bengals are going to cover that two and a half points as much as I have DK
- 48:11Metcalf and Kenneth Walker on my fantasy team.
- 48:13Let's hope they have a good week.
- 48:15But I like this this Bengals team, what they looked like last week.
- 48:18They're who we expected.
- 48:19They start slow every year with Joe Burrow.
- 48:21He's looking more comfortable as that calf recovers.
- 48:24I just think the Bengals have something to prove right now and they're going to come
- 48:28and they're going to get theirs this Sunday.
- 48:30Kev Dogg, what do you think?
- 48:31I'm going to agree with you.
- 48:32I think the Bengals got it.
- 48:33Home team.
- 48:34I just think home teams usually do all right, at least from my experience in the NFL.
- 48:38Obviously, I don't pay too much attention to it, but I like to think that there's a
- 48:41big deal there and a home field advantage.
- 48:43So going with the Bengals.
- 48:45Just my thoughts.
- 48:46Smelty, take us home, bud.
- 48:48Yeah.
- 48:49Do you know, do the Seahawks for sure get Kenneth Walker back this week?
- 48:53Still questionable.
- 48:54Okay.
- 48:55Okay.
- 48:56I think that's a big factor.
- 48:57I think that's a big factor.
- 48:59Again, establishing that run game.
- 49:01Kenneth Walker is not a game changer yet, but he's shown glimpses of it.
- 49:05I mean, he's a good back.
- 49:06With or without Kenneth, I think I'm still going Bengals.
- 49:09I think the Bengals can still figure out their season.
- 49:13They kind of started figuring it out last week.
- 49:16It was fun to finally see Jamar Chase actually get open.
- 49:20So I guess we'll just see, but I'm going Bengals this week.
- 49:22What do you mean see him get open?
- 49:23He's always open.
- 49:25According to him.
- 49:26Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:27For sure.
- 49:28For sure.
- 49:29He's always open according to him.
- 49:30Yeah, yeah.
- 49:31Talk about backing up your talk, man.
- 49:33Talk about backing up your talk.
- 49:34Comes out, says he's always open, then goes off for three tides.
- 49:37Hey, listen.
- 49:40I mean, Joe Burrows also got to get the protection, right?
- 49:42To be able to get to, it depends on the reads, right?
- 49:45If you're supposed to read the inside receiver for, you know, whatever, whatever the reads
- 49:49are, you got to, I don't know.
- 49:52I don't think he was open every time he says he was.
- 49:54I think he's as good as he says he is for sure.
- 49:57100%.
- 49:58I don't know.
- 49:59We'll see.
- 50:00I think more what he's meaning is he's always open.
- 50:02He can be double covered.
- 50:03You throw that ball up.
- 50:04I still give him a 25% chance anytime he goes up with that ball.
- 50:07He's just, he gets his hands on the ball.
- 50:09So I think that's more what he's meaning.
- 50:11You said 25% chance?
- 50:13Against double coverage.
- 50:14Oh, against double coverage.
- 50:15Okay, okay.
- 50:16That's fair.
- 50:17Single coverage.
- 50:18Raise that bad boy up.
- 50:19That's fair.
- 50:20That's fair.
- 50:21I mean, that's low for a good receiver, but okay.
- 50:23Yeah, against double coverage.
- 50:25Fair enough.
- 50:27Well, this was an absolute blast.
- 50:29I had fun.
- 50:30I'm looking forward to see how these predictions turn out the rest of the week.
- 50:33We have them tracked here.
- 50:35We'll let you know exactly how they did come next week.
- 50:38And this was an absolute blast, boys.
- 50:40I'm glad we got this ball rolling.
- 50:42We'll be back next week for week six recap.
- 50:44Once again, thank you for everybody for tuning in.
- 50:47Like, follow, support.
- 50:49Banner with the boys.
