- 0:11Speaker 1: Let's talk Guardians with Reee Hoskins joining us right now
- 0:14Speaker 1: on ft rees.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Great to see you, man, How you doing. You having
- 0:17Speaker 2: fun there?
- 0:19Speaker 3: Yeah, having a lot of fun. Winning's fun. Playing with
- 0:22Speaker 3: really good players is also fun. So yeah, we're off
- 0:25Speaker 3: to a good start. See we can keep it going.
- 0:27Speaker 3: It's good to see you guys.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Yeah, great to see you, dude. What's it like out there?
- 0:31Speaker 1: I mean you've hit a few different organizations. If you're
- 0:34Speaker 1: sitting with someone there, like what makes Cleveland different? What
- 0:37Speaker 1: would be one thing you noticed there that you maybe
- 0:39Speaker 1: haven't seen elsewhere, haven't seen accentuated the way it is there.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I'll probably give an easy answer here and say Jose Ramirez, Yeah, no,
- 0:51Speaker 3: just just great energy. And I think that kind of
- 0:55Speaker 3: rings into the managers offs to a voter, right like
- 0:58Speaker 3: I've gotten I've gotten a chance to for some really
- 1:00Speaker 3: good managers. And he's right up there with with Rob
- 1:04Speaker 3: Thompson and Pat Murphy. So yeah, really good vibes to start.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Kind of forget what it's like to play in the
- 1:12Speaker 3: cold after being in the Dome in Milwaukee the last
- 1:15Speaker 3: few years. But yeah, we're we're off to a good
- 1:20Speaker 3: start and see what we can keep it going.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Like I said, Yeah, so you've gotten soft playing in
- 1:24Speaker 4: the Dome. I get it. I get it. That's fine.
- 1:26Speaker 5: But you've played with you've played with m vps before.
- 1:31Speaker 5: Compare jose Ramirez to those guys. I'm not saying one's
- 1:34Speaker 5: better or worse, but Compare them to Bryce, Compare them
- 1:37Speaker 5: to Yelly. Compare like the different guys that you've seen
- 1:41Speaker 5: up close on a day in and day out basis.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think you know, you said Yelly
- 1:48Speaker 3: and you said Bryce and Cutch like those different guys.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Those guys are a little different than Hosey because Josey
- 1:56Speaker 3: does everything. I'm not saying that those guys don't do
- 1:59Speaker 3: that everything, but he plays a premium position. I think
- 2:02Speaker 3: he had eight bags last week, five homers and also hits,
- 2:08Speaker 3: you know, from both sides of the plate.
- 2:09Speaker 6: So I've played.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Against him enough and now you know, I've gotten to
- 2:15Speaker 3: play with him for five to six weeks to like,
- 2:17Speaker 3: I just don't see a week part of his game.
- 2:21Speaker 3: And that's you know why he's consistently one of the
- 2:24Speaker 3: top two or three players, and the league or the
- 2:28Speaker 3: American League picked, you know, take your pick every single year.
- 2:32Speaker 3: That he's that he's been in the big league, So
- 2:35Speaker 3: just broke the games record for you know, this organization.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Like he checks all the boxes.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Reece.
- 2:44Speaker 7: Why did teams pitched him? This is not a knock
- 2:46Speaker 7: on anybody else in the lineup. But what why why
- 2:48Speaker 7: do you ever throw him a strike? You just said
- 2:50Speaker 7: he had five homers, eight or eight storm the whole
- 2:53Speaker 7: deal last week. And this is not a knock on
- 2:55Speaker 7: anyone hitting behind him. Trust me, I hit behind Barry Bonds.
- 2:57Speaker 7: They walked him two hundred and seventy times. So why
- 3:01Speaker 7: why do teams ever throw hose? Well, listen, I get
- 3:04Speaker 7: two outs nobody on. But in a big situation, I'm
- 3:07Speaker 7: not throwing this dude anything close to hit.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I'm making him chase one over his head.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good question. I hope teams don't exactly
- 3:17Speaker 3: figure that out, you know, for this for the sake
- 3:20Speaker 3: of us. But you know, just his presence in the
- 3:24Speaker 3: box like makes makes pictures do things that they're not
- 3:27Speaker 3: trying to do. Quite frankly, I think that's how the
- 3:31Speaker 3: psychology of hit or verse picture works. They know that
- 3:35Speaker 3: they make a mistake to him that you know that
- 3:37Speaker 3: he's gonna make them pay and sometimes you end up
- 3:40Speaker 3: getting you know, more pitches in the heart of the
- 3:42Speaker 3: plate because of that.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Can you see why he wants to stay in Cleveland.
- 3:46Speaker 5: I mean he signed I think three extensions now if
- 3:49Speaker 5: I'm not incorrect, And you see him on a day
- 3:52Speaker 5: in and day out basis in the freaking freezing cold,
- 3:55Speaker 5: you guys can see your breath. He doesn't like the cold,
- 3:58Speaker 5: but there's short arms to his short arms just allow
- 4:01Speaker 5: him to not ever get cold in Cleveland and want
- 4:03Speaker 5: to go to another city to see free agency.
- 4:07Speaker 6: No, I think.
- 4:08Speaker 3: You know, obviously he's been here his whole career. There's
- 4:10Speaker 3: a certain level of comfort that you gain from being
- 4:14Speaker 3: around the same people and you know, living in the
- 4:17Speaker 3: same home, you know, during the summer for X amount
- 4:21Speaker 3: of years straight. So I know that's a huge thing
- 4:23Speaker 3: for him. But he also just takes a lot of
- 4:26Speaker 3: pride and you know, some of the the numbers that
- 4:30Speaker 3: he's been able to put up and and you know,
- 4:33Speaker 3: etching his name into some of the record books here
- 4:35Speaker 3: in this organization.
- 4:37Speaker 6: He just takes a lot of pride in that.
- 4:38Speaker 3: And then you know, I haven't gotten a chance to
- 4:41Speaker 3: play here a ton yet, But people talk about the
- 4:45Speaker 3: fans and what they mean to him and what he
- 4:49Speaker 3: means to them, and that's something I think he takes
- 4:51Speaker 3: a lot of pride into.
- 4:53Speaker 5: There's a Reye. Hoskins interview. But I have one more
- 4:55Speaker 5: Jose Ramirez question, because I think he's the most underrated
- 4:58Speaker 5: player in the game. Have you played him in Mario
- 5:00Speaker 5: Kart yet? Because he is elite in Mario Kart?
- 5:05Speaker 3: I haven't yet. I do know that I've heard that.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I'll wait my turn. I got to get some more
- 5:11Speaker 3: practicing though, too.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Okay, I mean I.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Grew up in the nineties. I think I have to
- 5:20Speaker 6: love Mario Kart.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You know, I agree? What are the What are the
- 5:24Speaker 2: kids playing?
- 5:25Speaker 6: Though?
- 5:25Speaker 2: Like some of these younger guardians kids, what are they playing?
- 5:30Speaker 3: I'm not a gamer, so I couldn't really tell you.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Good to tell you let's.
- 5:37Speaker 7: Hit on some of those kids, I mean the latter
- 5:39Speaker 7: Britdo you guys have some kids that have come up
- 5:42Speaker 7: this year and really done some special things. What stands
- 5:46Speaker 7: out to you about some of the as you call
- 5:48Speaker 7: him kids, I mean, you know they're listen, they're young
- 5:51Speaker 7: enough to be my kids, So I guess I can
- 5:53Speaker 7: call him kids. You're not quite that old yet, Reese.
- 5:54Speaker 7: So what stands out about some of these kids, I
- 5:59Speaker 7: think just.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Their eager their eagerness to get better.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I think a lot of them realize that they're going
- 6:05Speaker 3: to have some good opportunity up here at the big
- 6:08Speaker 3: league level.
- 6:11Speaker 6: And they don't want to waste that.
- 6:12Speaker 3: And obviously with youth comes a lot of energy, but
- 6:16Speaker 3: also comes some some mistakes on the baseball field. But
- 6:21Speaker 3: you know, their their willingness to kind of keep their
- 6:23Speaker 3: head down and you know, learn from some of the mistakes.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Is why I think we've gotten off to a good start.
- 6:30Speaker 3: We're getting, you know, a lot of good production from
- 6:33Speaker 3: a lot of different guys, and I think that kind
- 6:36Speaker 3: of helps a young team accumulate wins.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Hey shout out to the number one rated ticketing app
- 6:44Speaker 1: and that is see Geek. It is also MLB's official

- 7:25Speaker 7: Coach of Palooza, Burning Woman, Burning Man.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 7:28Speaker 7: She was making stuff up At one point. I'm like,

- 7:57Speaker 2: So you can use it later. Props to Sea Geek,
- 8:00Speaker 2: what is.
- 8:00Speaker 5: The best piece of advice you have for a young
- 8:02Speaker 5: player gone through what you've gone through in your career.
- 8:05Speaker 5: I won't even consider you like a salty vet. But
- 8:07Speaker 5: just like a vet.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Vet, you know, I think on the hitting side, but
- 8:12Speaker 3: you can spin this, I think to anybody that plays
- 8:15Speaker 3: his sport. But I always try to remind guys. I
- 8:19Speaker 3: had Jay Bruce tell me this, but he was just like, yo, dude,
- 8:21Speaker 3: you just got to keep getting to the batter's box,
- 8:24Speaker 3: like some some of the hardest parts of this game
- 8:26Speaker 3: or what happens in between the times that you're in
- 8:29Speaker 3: the box because of the failure, right, and we maybe
- 8:33Speaker 3: don't talk super nice to ourselves all the time, but
- 8:38Speaker 3: the game has a way of presenting kind of the
- 8:41Speaker 3: same situations even if you fail at them to you.
- 8:46Speaker 3: So as long as you keep getting up there, you know,
- 8:50Speaker 3: supporting your teammates in between, and things tend to work out.
- 8:55Speaker 6: The talent tends to come out.
- 8:57Speaker 5: We see a lot of small market teams locking up
- 8:59Speaker 5: their young guys, pirates, brewers, blah blah blah, on and
- 9:02Speaker 5: on and on. You're with a lot of young guys
- 9:05Speaker 5: in a small market. Again, what do you have to
- 9:09Speaker 5: say about the extensions that these guys are being offered
- 9:12Speaker 5: or even signing based on what happened in your career.
- 9:15Speaker 5: We're right before free agency, everybody knows you tore your
- 9:18Speaker 5: ACL and it hasn't gone as well since you've hit
- 9:21Speaker 5: free agency up until now. But what how what's your
- 9:24Speaker 5: viewpoint on it? If a young guy comes up to
- 9:27Speaker 5: you and says something to you about that.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I think every you know, every guy finds himself in
- 9:33Speaker 3: their own circumstance. I know that's probably a cop out answer,
- 9:36Speaker 3: but every everybody has different things going on, you know,
- 9:41Speaker 3: off the field or you know different just yeah, like
- 9:44Speaker 3: I said, just different things that if they feel like
- 9:47Speaker 3: it's going to put them in a nice position to
- 9:51Speaker 3: allow them to have a successful career or you know,
- 9:55Speaker 3: take care of family members, like nobody can nobody can
- 9:58Speaker 3: say that's a bad thing.
- 9:59Speaker 6: I think.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Think what I always try to tell guys is just
- 10:02Speaker 3: like make sure you have all the information.
- 10:05Speaker 6: You know, what things are you maybe passing up? What
- 10:08Speaker 6: are you giving up?
- 10:10Speaker 3: You know if you take something like this, But also
- 10:13Speaker 3: like what are you you know, why is this a
- 10:16Speaker 3: good thing for you? Just making sure that you're going
- 10:19Speaker 3: through the full exercise of should I say yes, should
- 10:23Speaker 3: I say no? But I think each guy has its
- 10:26Speaker 3: own circumstance that you can't put throw a blanket statement
- 10:29Speaker 3: on on you know, the extension idea.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Reece.
- 10:35Speaker 7: You've played now the last couple of years for two
- 10:37Speaker 7: of the smaller market teams, Milwaukee and Cleveland. Is what's
- 10:40Speaker 7: the similarity between the two because both every year, oh,
- 10:43Speaker 7: they're not going to be any good, and then boom,
- 10:45Speaker 7: both of them make the playoffs. Both of them do
- 10:47Speaker 7: something to surprise everyone. What's the similarities between the two organizations.
- 10:54Speaker 3: I think it starts with pitching and just like belief
- 10:58Speaker 3: in young players. I think the development and scouting in
- 11:03Speaker 3: both places probably is a little bit ahead of some
- 11:06Speaker 3: other places around the league. And I think that's why
- 11:09Speaker 3: you see young players on both teams be put into
- 11:12Speaker 3: position and then also succeed at a young age.
- 11:15Speaker 6: In the league.
- 11:15Speaker 3: So just like a really big emphasis on letting young
- 11:19Speaker 3: players play, but also finding value in areas of the
- 11:25Speaker 3: game that maybe some teams don't do that because of
- 11:29Speaker 3: you know, let's call it star personnel that they have.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Maybe just some different things are important, taking the extra base,
- 11:37Speaker 3: getting dirt ball reads, bunting. Obviously, I was on a
- 11:41Speaker 3: team in Milwaukee that loves to bunt and cast some chaos.
- 11:44Speaker 3: So just some different ways to play the game, all
- 11:48Speaker 3: are effective. And I think it just depends on the
- 11:50Speaker 3: personnel that you have trying to figure out how to
- 11:53Speaker 3: win the most games.
- 11:55Speaker 4: What does Steven vote like in that clubhouse? Is he
- 11:58Speaker 4: hands on?
- 11:59Speaker 5: Because we play We played together, and I knew what
- 12:02Speaker 5: he was like as a teammate, but as a manager,
- 12:05Speaker 5: you just never know, Like, this guy was super awesome,
- 12:07Speaker 5: funny and he's in the clubhouse being funny. Now as
- 12:10Speaker 5: a manager, is he hands off and is he like, you, guys,
- 12:14Speaker 5: go do it?
- 12:14Speaker 4: Or is he coming in there and yucking it up
- 12:17Speaker 4: with the boys?
- 12:19Speaker 3: I'm gonna guess is pretty similar to the way he
- 12:21Speaker 3: was as a player. I don't think that you can
- 12:23Speaker 3: just really turn that off, especially in a clubhouse setting.
- 12:28Speaker 3: But I think he does a good job of letting
- 12:30Speaker 3: his players, you know, police and not manage, but police
- 12:35Speaker 3: and just create an environment that guys want to be
- 12:39Speaker 3: a part of. I think, you know, playing against him
- 12:43Speaker 3: a little bit of my career too, it seemed like
- 12:45Speaker 3: he was unbelievable at that creating that environment for guys
- 12:48Speaker 3: to succeed. So he definitely leads us in that regard
- 12:53Speaker 3: and make sure that we're ready to play the game.
- 12:55Speaker 3: But you know, he's also aware enough that a lot
- 13:00Speaker 3: of those good things, a lot of that secret sauce
- 13:02Speaker 3: comes from players initiating that.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Reece.
- 13:06Speaker 7: Recently, you're one of your old guys decided to get
- 13:09Speaker 7: engaged on the field Austin Hedges. Did anyone say, hey,
- 13:12Speaker 7: Austin like this, No, don't do it. This is a
- 13:15Speaker 7: bad idea. You shouldn't do this on the field. You
- 13:17Speaker 7: sho this more privately. Did anyone say anything to him,
- 13:20Speaker 7: Because most of the time, as a player, when people
- 13:23Speaker 7: get engaged on the big screen, they do the one knee.
- 13:25Speaker 7: Everyone's like no, say no, say no. Did anybody say
- 13:28Speaker 7: to Hedgie like, hey man, maybe this ain't the best
- 13:30Speaker 7: idea in the world.
- 13:33Speaker 6: No, he was pretty dead set on it. You know.
- 13:37Speaker 3: We kind of let Hegi do Hedgi things because that's good.
- 13:41Speaker 3: It seemed to put him in a good position so
- 13:44Speaker 3: far in his career and his life. I think I
- 13:49Speaker 3: think Lexi's a Cleveland gal, so I'm sure there's there's
- 13:53Speaker 3: a little bit of good history there for both of them.
- 13:55Speaker 3: And we didn't see the actual question, but a big
- 14:00Speaker 3: group of us we're kind of hanging out in the
- 14:01Speaker 3: dugout waiting for him to you know, kind of.
- 14:04Speaker 6: Wave us out and we got to celebrate with him.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Cool life moment for them, and I hope they had
- 14:11Speaker 3: a wonderful night afterward, got got to spend some time
- 14:15Speaker 3: together after the day game.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Wait, wait, he had the ring? I heard he had
- 14:19Speaker 5: the ring for a long time. Was there like was
- 14:21Speaker 5: he waiting for like a win? Was he waiting for
- 14:24Speaker 5: a day where he got like two hits because you know, Hedgie,
- 14:27Speaker 5: Hedgie ain't in two hits for a while, So what's
- 14:30Speaker 5: what was he waiting for? Was he like, nope, drop dead,
- 14:32Speaker 5: We're doing it on April nineteenth.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I think he just picked a day that we were
- 14:38Speaker 3: going to be home and also home the next day obviously,
- 14:43Speaker 3: you know, the day game allows us to have a
- 14:44Speaker 3: little bit more time.
- 14:46Speaker 6: So yeah, he was.
- 14:47Speaker 3: He was dead set on it as for tomorrow, even
- 14:50Speaker 3: if we lost. Obviously, I think he said this post game,
- 14:53Speaker 3: but like a win and on that day just makes
- 14:56Speaker 3: everything a little bit better. So you know, worked that
- 14:59Speaker 3: worked out for race.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Are you a good wedding gift giver? And do you
- 15:03Speaker 5: think you've been on the team long enough to be
- 15:06Speaker 5: invited to their wedding?
- 15:10Speaker 3: I don't think I've been on the team long enough,
- 15:13Speaker 3: you know, Well, we'll try to crack that roster as
- 15:16Speaker 3: we go throughout the year.
- 15:18Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I don't think I'm a terribly good gift giver, So
- 15:23Speaker 3: I'll give the credit to my wife on that, as
- 15:26Speaker 3: I should with a lot of other things. But she
- 15:29Speaker 3: she tends to take care of us in that regard.
- 15:33Speaker 7: Smart That's reset's the smartest thing you've said in this
- 15:36Speaker 7: entire interview, is what you just said right.
- 15:38Speaker 4: There in Cleveland? Do you know what the race they
- 15:42Speaker 4: have on the field is? Do you know the race
- 15:43Speaker 4: they have?
- 15:45Speaker 3: I do know about the hot dog race my daughter.
- 15:48Speaker 3: It's my favorite. It's my daughter's favorite thing about the game.
- 15:51Speaker 3: So we definitely know about the hot dog race.
- 15:55Speaker 7: Okay, So when I come to a game in Cleveland,
- 15:57Speaker 7: am I allowed to dress up as a hot dog
- 15:59Speaker 7: and try to run you over again? Like I did
- 16:01Speaker 7: when I was the sausage in Milwaukee? And you tried,
- 16:04Speaker 7: you almost got run over by the train on the tracks,
- 16:06Speaker 7: but luckily I was nimble enough to get around you.
- 16:10Speaker 7: So have you recovered from that? And will you be
- 16:13Speaker 7: nervous if I run the hot dog race?
- 16:15Speaker 3: A little nervous, yeah, but I feel pretty good about
- 16:20Speaker 3: the hot dog suit versus sausage suit. So you know,
- 16:23Speaker 3: if you run into me, you probably feel like you're
- 16:25Speaker 3: running into a brick wall.
- 16:29Speaker 7: That's why I went around you. You cost me the race.
- 16:32Speaker 7: You cost me the race because I had to go
- 16:33Speaker 7: around you.
- 16:35Speaker 3: For sure, it has to be someone else's fault. But
- 16:38Speaker 3: hey man, let's let's let's make it happen and we'll
- 16:40Speaker 3: get you some redemption.
- 16:42Speaker 7: Wait, do I go ketchup mustard? Relish or onion?
- 16:44Speaker 4: And they have four? Right, they have ketchup mustard?
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yeah, no relish. But now there's a spicy a spicy mustard.
- 16:53Speaker 3: That's the change that might fit you a little better.
- 16:56Speaker 3: A spicy mustard. Okay, that's yeah, that's fairy.
- 17:00Speaker 5: I like that. That's a good analysis. That's a good
- 17:02Speaker 5: scattered report on what condiment AJ would be spicy mustard.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Not many people like it, but the people who do
- 17:09Speaker 5: and get to know.
- 17:10Speaker 4: It really like it. Good for you. Do you have
- 17:13Speaker 4: any gray poopong?
- 17:15Speaker 5: Yes, and overly and thinks they're overly rich, but really
- 17:20Speaker 5: is just an old Florida redneck at heart. But my
- 17:23Speaker 5: question is about another young guy, Parker Messex almost no
- 17:28Speaker 5: no bid. I heard from someone in your clubhouse that
- 17:33Speaker 5: you said at the beginning of the ninth whoa, he's
- 17:36Speaker 5: got a no?
- 17:36Speaker 4: No? Is that true or not true?
- 17:40Speaker 6: Come on, man.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I did realize in a fifth though, and I was
- 17:47Speaker 3: opening the clubhouse or up in the weight room, just
- 17:50Speaker 3: kind of trying to stay ready for the game, and
- 17:53Speaker 3: I noticed and I was like, well, I got to
- 17:55Speaker 3: stay in the dugout. I'm as ready as I'm going
- 17:57Speaker 3: to be. If I have to pinch it in this game,
- 17:59Speaker 3: I can't leave. So I didn't say it out loud,
- 18:03Speaker 3: but I did have the thoughts. I know that the
- 18:05Speaker 3: line is typically you got to say that out loud, and.
- 18:09Speaker 6: Now what A this guy's nasty man?
- 18:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he's I think he's going first tomorrow, so we
- 18:16Speaker 3: feel like we got a good chance to win when
- 18:17Speaker 3: he's on the mound. And I think the whole world
- 18:21Speaker 3: kind of got to see that, you know, the other
- 18:22Speaker 3: night when he took that into the ninth.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Was there anybody in the dugout who like didn't pee
- 18:27Speaker 5: the whole time because they're like, well, I can't move, Like,
- 18:30Speaker 5: was there any like residual effects from.
- 18:32Speaker 3: I think there was a couple of us. Yeah, No,
- 18:34Speaker 3: I think there was a couple of us line line
- 18:37Speaker 3: in the bathroom. When we got into the clubhouse. Everybody
- 18:42Speaker 3: was going to get a new piece of gum or
- 18:44Speaker 3: that type of thing. So, you know, like like we
- 18:47Speaker 3: baseball players, everybody's trying to figure out how to do
- 18:49Speaker 3: their part.
- 18:52Speaker 2: It's good staff.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I don't believe in it.
- 18:54Speaker 2: What do you believe?
- 18:55Speaker 4: I don't believe in that Jinks stuff. That doesn't matter.
- 18:58Speaker 4: I don't believe in it.
- 19:00Speaker 5: You're easily the most superstitious of all four of us
- 19:03Speaker 5: right here.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I don't believe in that one. It doesn't matter if
- 19:06Speaker 4: you don't believe in it or not. Reece, you can
- 19:10Speaker 4: say it. Listen. I played with Mark Burley.
- 19:12Speaker 7: Mark Burley threw a perfect game after telling me he
- 19:14Speaker 7: was gonna throw a perfect game, and he talked about
- 19:16Speaker 7: it for nine innings into my face as he was
- 19:18Speaker 7: throwing the perfect game. So at that moment of my life,
- 19:21Speaker 7: at that moment of my life, I lost all belief
- 19:24Speaker 7: in superstitions of perfect game. And then about a year
- 19:26Speaker 7: later I called Phil Humbers and I was superstitious as
- 19:29Speaker 7: hell and did the exact same stuff. So take that
- 19:31Speaker 7: for what it's worth.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you just got it.
- 19:35Speaker 4: It takes what it takes.
- 19:36Speaker 6: Sometimes you can talk about it. Sometimes you can't.
- 19:38Speaker 7: I know this as a broadcaster. If it's happening and
- 19:41Speaker 7: I mention it, and then of course it always happens.
- 19:44Speaker 7: Then the other guy look at you and say it's
- 19:46Speaker 7: your fault.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Scott. You said it. You brought it up, and.
- 19:48Speaker 2: So will social media if you check it. Beware, beware, Reese. Great,
- 19:53Speaker 2: catch it up and your man really enjoyed the combo.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Hope you did too. Good to see it.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Yeah, great to see you, guys. Appreciate the time, and
- 20:00Speaker 6: we'll see you around.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll see mister spicy Mustard soon. That's right, Thank you, brother.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Appreciate it all right, guys.

- 21:10Speaker 8: I'm looking at Goody, and I'm thinking, Goodie, what do
- 21:12Speaker 8: you think is that close? Because we're not I'm not
- 21:16Speaker 8: trying to challenge anything.
- 21:17Speaker 6: I don't want to challenge anything as well.
- 21:19Speaker 8: And so it was just a natural reaction like Goodie,
- 21:21Speaker 8: like what do you think, Goodie? And then the umpired
- 21:24Speaker 8: and I get it.
- 21:24Speaker 6: It's I can't.
- 21:25Speaker 8: I got to come up with a different signal maybe
- 21:27Speaker 8: of like Goodie that I thought that was good, and
- 21:30Speaker 8: then I did it again on accent like I didn't
- 21:32Speaker 8: even mean to challenge it the next inning. I think
- 21:35Speaker 8: I did the next inning and where I'm like, hey,
- 21:36Speaker 8: what do you like?
- 21:37Speaker 6: Is that close?
- 21:38Speaker 8: And then he challenged. I'm like, oh, I don't want
- 21:40Speaker 8: to burn a challenge there. I was just asking Goodie.
- 21:42Speaker 8: But so I have to come up with something so
- 21:45Speaker 8: I can communicate with Goody, like I thought that was good.
- 21:47Speaker 4: What do you think?
- 21:47Speaker 6: Because I do not want to challenge anything personally.
- 21:51Speaker 1: That's Michael Lorenz under the Rockies, trying to figure out
- 21:54Speaker 1: how to let his catcher Hunter Goodman know like should
- 21:57Speaker 1: be challenged that way, guys, I know you guys are
- 21:59Speaker 1: both catch or what if he does something else like
- 22:03Speaker 1: taps somewhere else on his body for a check.
- 22:06Speaker 7: Here's the thing is the catcher thought it was a strike,
- 22:07Speaker 7: he would have already done this, So Michael Lorenzen doesn't
- 22:10Speaker 7: need to ask.
- 22:11Speaker 2: You don't want the picture to help at all.
- 22:13Speaker 7: As I told Adam later and on Saturday night, pictures
- 22:15Speaker 7: should never be allowed to challenge.
- 22:17Speaker 1: But can't the picture just like say hey, like I thought,
- 22:19Speaker 1: you don't even.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Want because she'll know if I go like this he
- 22:23Speaker 4: knows right away.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Yeah, hey, j did you ever give Did you ever
- 22:27Speaker 5: give a signal to your bench when the ball was
- 22:30Speaker 5: on the plate or umpire miss the call?
- 22:33Speaker 4: Of course?
- 22:33Speaker 5: Well was it always the same your entire career or
- 22:35Speaker 5: was it different at different times?
- 22:36Speaker 4: It just depended on who I was with and who
- 22:38Speaker 4: the coaches were.
- 22:40Speaker 5: And the one year I had I had a sign
- 22:42Speaker 5: where I would I would pull on my helmet. Normally
- 22:45Speaker 5: it was like I would just I would just adjust
- 22:47Speaker 5: my mask. What if that was your sign? What if
- 22:50Speaker 5: your normal sign was just and you were just used
- 22:52Speaker 5: to it all the time. I guess you would stop.
- 22:55Speaker 2: But you switch it, guys, there's a million things you
- 23:00Speaker 2: can do.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Stop. I don't understand why this is such a big deal.
- 23:03Speaker 4: You stop.
- 23:04Speaker 2: But okay, let's fast forward.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Even if they're like, you know what, we're gonna let
- 23:07Speaker 1: Lorenzo in a couple times a game, just communicate with
- 23:09Speaker 1: Goodman and be like, oh I think that might have
- 23:11Speaker 1: been something.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Okay, great, so don't tap your head.
- 23:13Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying, do something else.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I mean, he's indicated that, but he's like, maybe I
- 23:17Speaker 1: have to change it. It's like, we love Michael, but no,
- 23:19Speaker 1: you definitely have to change it. The umpire is just
- 23:21Speaker 1: doing his job, and the catcher also is confused.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Yeah, we're four or five starts into the season. How
- 23:28Speaker 5: do you not how do you not have that?
- 23:29Speaker 4: Like, oh, I gotta stop doing that.
- 23:31Speaker 5: That's That's where I'm kind of like, how did we
- 23:34Speaker 5: get to this point where like he hasn't done this
- 23:36Speaker 5: the whole year, or like guys who like touched the
- 23:40Speaker 5: back of their hat, Like, you just can't. You can't
- 23:42Speaker 5: go on an auction and have an itchy face because
- 23:45Speaker 5: you're like, no, right, I know, I was just itching.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You can't do the timeout signal if you don't have
- 23:52Speaker 1: one in other sports back for a few minutes. Can
- 23:59Speaker 1: you of the board of Schlittler there and the note
- 24:03Speaker 1: from Joel Sherman.
- 24:07Speaker 2: So Cam.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Schlitzler said a subset of Red Sox fans continue to
- 24:11Speaker 1: harass him in his family, on social media and as
- 24:14Speaker 1: the writer. He gets ready for his first Fenway start
- 24:16Speaker 1: as a Yankee, he already is throwing heat. There's a
- 24:20Speaker 1: bunch of stuff in there. He's like saying he's not
- 24:24Speaker 1: nervous about it, blah blah blah, but he doesn't like it.
- 24:26Speaker 1: He's been very vocal about this since last year, which
- 24:29Speaker 1: was his first year. He's been really freaking good so
- 24:32Speaker 1: far in the bigs. The only thing I'll say, it's awful.
- 24:36Speaker 1: We don't condone it. The only thing I will say
- 24:37Speaker 1: is doesn't like every player and deal with some of
- 24:41Speaker 1: this stuff.
- 24:41Speaker 7: Everybody for deals with something. Everybody, I mean announcers deal
- 24:44Speaker 7: with it.
- 24:44Speaker 4: I get it.
- 24:45Speaker 7: Every time I do a game on Saturdays, people come
- 24:47Speaker 7: at you and just you got to tell people to
- 24:51Speaker 7: get off of it. Then you got to tell your
- 24:54Speaker 7: family and friends. The man, he'sier said than done. I
- 24:57Speaker 7: get it. It should not be like this. You should not.
- 25:02Speaker 4: If you go after somebody on social media. I'm sorry
- 25:04Speaker 4: you suck.
- 25:05Speaker 2: You suck, but it suck if you do it.
- 25:07Speaker 4: If you don't do it, out.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Don't need to do it, I know. But people are
- 25:10Speaker 2: gonna see that and then just go harder. That's just
- 25:14Speaker 2: how the you have to mom's.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Basement people work, Yeah, just ignore it or write, but
- 25:19Speaker 1: it sucks.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Your family has to deal with it. People have to
- 25:22Speaker 4: deal with it.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Just sucks, but it's not their job.
- 25:24Speaker 1: So the one thing is, like, I know everyone likes
- 25:25Speaker 1: to be like, oh I have to show everyone every
- 25:27Speaker 1: single thing I'm doing, Like you don't have to participate,
- 25:31Speaker 1: or you can have a burner account where you actually
- 25:33Speaker 1: spend your time on there and no one knows how
- 25:35Speaker 1: to reach you. KD and many others. Wasn't there the
- 25:38Speaker 1: NBA GM who had a burner? There's so much of that, So, yeah, Kratz,
- 25:43Speaker 1: is it the best answer? No, But the one thing
- 25:45Speaker 1: I'm sure of is we're nowhere close to being able
- 25:48Speaker 1: to police or catch that. So the only great answer
- 25:50Speaker 1: right now is you're a family member of his, just
- 25:55Speaker 1: don't have it, I mean, or don't look at it,
- 25:58Speaker 1: whatever it is. It sucks, but it's really the only
- 26:00Speaker 1: thing that you can do because then they can't really
- 26:02Speaker 1: reach you from there. Somebody is like, you know, finding
- 26:05Speaker 1: your dress or your number or whatever you can get
- 26:07Speaker 1: the cops involve on that.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Social media kind of tough.
- 26:11Speaker 5: We had a line. Just don't fans. I hope you
- 26:14Speaker 5: don't cross the line. But people like family friends of
- 26:18Speaker 5: Cam Schlitler, sorry, like, just be family and friends with him,
- 26:22Speaker 5: don't necessarily be a tweeter with him, don't be a
- 26:26Speaker 5: social media cohort or anything, and get off of it
- 26:30Speaker 5: because people just are relentless.
- 26:32Speaker 4: We hate the Mets.
- 26:33Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure that's going to be on Twitter today
- 26:36Speaker 5: that FT hates the Mets. I could really care less
- 26:39Speaker 5: about the Mets.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I think you're going to be okay today. I think
- 26:42Speaker 1: Mets fans right now hate the Mets. So everyone's greeting
- 26:46Speaker 1: together as they're watching, whether you're a fan of them
- 26:49Speaker 1: or not.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Scott hurt people, hurt people, Okay, So right now Mets
- 26:54Speaker 5: fans are hurt, so they'll come at they'll come at
- 26:56Speaker 5: AJ more than me, because.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Yeah, oh I don't that.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Ten years ago I was on MLB Network and I said,
- 27:02Speaker 1: I think they might be wasting my Trat's prime. Those
- 27:05Speaker 1: people don't bother me anymore.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Bye too soon.
