- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. Oh God, I am so
- 0:03Speaker 1: busy all of a sudden. I don't know if I
- 0:06Speaker 1: have an inspection tomorrow, which is really weird. I would
- 0:09Speaker 1: try to explain that to you, but I don't understand myself.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Is it tomorrow? Is it June eighth, which is in
- 0:15Speaker 1: like two weeks. I don't know. I will never know.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I hope I know soon. Actually, I'll probably find out
- 0:22Speaker 1: why I'm recording this, and it will interrupt me at
- 0:24Speaker 1: a really inopportune time. I'll have to redo something, so
- 0:27Speaker 1: that's gonna be fun. But you'll never know about that
- 0:30Speaker 1: because I will cut it out, I hope. So, yeah,
- 0:33Speaker 1: it's really hot outside. It's like I don't know how
- 0:35Speaker 1: many degrees in the high nineties, and I'm uncomfortable and
- 0:39Speaker 1: I miss Central Air sometimes even though I haven't had
- 0:43Speaker 1: it in like, I don't know, twelve thirteen, fifteen years.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I don't know. It was nice though, better times, you know,
- 0:49Speaker 1: when it's just cool inside the house and the air
- 0:52Speaker 1: just came out of vents in the floor. I don't know,
- 0:56Speaker 1: like that's what Central Air is. Like, I don't know
- 0:58Speaker 1: why I'm explaining this to you, and I'm never gonna
- 1:02Speaker 1: have it again because I can't afford it anyway. So
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'm just gonna jump right into this so that I
- 1:09Speaker 1: have time to do it and get this to you
- 1:11Speaker 1: before I might have an inspection tomorrow, but maybe not.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I don't really know. So Episode five of Lane, which
- 1:19Speaker 1: is the episode we're doing today because we did episode
- 1:22Speaker 1: four last week, probably is called Distortion, and I think
- 1:26Speaker 1: that's a pretty okay title. It could mean a bunch
- 1:29Speaker 1: of different things in this episode maybe, or I may
- 1:32Speaker 1: just be wrong. And I don't know if you remember
- 1:36Speaker 1: from last week, but I feel like you should, because
- 1:39Speaker 1: Lane like somehow made that guy's goggles break off his
- 1:45Speaker 1: face and cut him and then they drove away. And
- 1:50Speaker 1: what I hope we learn about that in this episode
- 1:52Speaker 1: we do not. We don't start there at all. I
- 1:56Speaker 1: don't know where we start, but let's do it because
- 2:00Speaker 1: we gotta. Maybe or we don't. Actually, you can still
- 2:04Speaker 1: go whenever you want. I'm not keeping you here hostage,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I don't think. But like if you told me that
- 2:11Speaker 1: I was, I would believe you because I would just
- 2:14Speaker 1: think I'm a terrible person and that's what I do.
- 2:18Speaker 2: That's that's enough of this.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Let's do it. So we start the episode with just
- 2:22Speaker 1: a bunch of normal shit that we see every episode,
- 2:24Speaker 1: including present day present time, like a lot of laughter
- 2:28Speaker 1: that I can't do without sounding stupid, and the opening theme,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and then more normal shit that we do every time,
- 2:35Speaker 1: like the blue buildings and people walking. And while we
- 2:39Speaker 1: have all this normal shit on top, we hear Lane
- 2:42Speaker 1: say if you can hear it, that it's speaking to you,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and if you can see it, then it's yours to have.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I think that's how that works. But fine, then we
- 2:51Speaker 1: see the title card distortion layer zero five. Okay, so
- 2:56Speaker 1: we cut to like these really grainy buildings with people
- 2:59Speaker 1: on the sidewalk in front of them, the whole like
- 3:02Speaker 1: it's kind of got like a yellowish filter to it's weird.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And we hear a man say mankind is a creature
- 3:09Speaker 1: that no longer evolves. That's not true at all. Actually,
- 3:13Speaker 1: compared to other animals, the incidence of cancer and humans
- 3:17Speaker 1: is exceedingly small. Okay, wait, wait, wait, let me pause here.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That's not true. The incidents of cancer and human are
- 3:23Speaker 1: not exceedingly small compared to other animals. That's not a thing. Yes,
- 3:27Speaker 1: some animals get more cancer than humans, but some animals
- 3:30Speaker 1: get significantly less cancer than humans do. There was like
- 3:34Speaker 1: a thing where we believe that the more cells you had,
- 3:37Speaker 1: the more cancer you got, But that's not true. It's
- 3:41Speaker 1: not related at all. There's a thing called Peto's paradox,
- 3:43Speaker 1: which actually shows that animals with more cells don't always
- 3:47Speaker 1: get more cancer than animals with less cells. I don't
- 3:50Speaker 1: think that is helpful to you in any way, but
- 3:52Speaker 1: I just want you to understand that whales get a
- 3:54Speaker 1: lot less cancer than humans do, and elephants and bears
- 3:58Speaker 1: also get less cancer than humans do. So this is
- 4:01Speaker 1: all bullshit, but let's continue and pretend that it's not,
- 4:04Speaker 1: because maybe in this world it isn't. So we see
- 4:07Speaker 1: a street performer sitting with a guitar like on the sidewalks.
- 4:11Speaker 1: A couple of people around him watch, which is always good,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and the man continues. One theory says that humans and
- 4:18Speaker 1: neotany is no longer able to evolve. We see various
- 4:22Speaker 1: shots of the city and then like a statue of
- 4:24Speaker 1: a dog in a park, So you understand. Neotany is
- 4:27Speaker 1: the retention of juvenile traits into adulthood. So like, I
- 4:32Speaker 1: don't know, like humans not having like lots of hair
- 4:35Speaker 1: on them or something. I don't know. We're not going
- 4:36Speaker 1: to get into this anyway, the man continues. If this
- 4:40Speaker 1: is actually true, it isn't, then what an absurd creature.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Man has ultimately evolved into, not knowing what it is
- 4:47Speaker 1: that tribes them or even keeps them alive. They keep
- 4:50Speaker 1: their bodies merely to satisfy the desires of the flesh.
- 4:54Speaker 1: They're worthless. Don't you think that's all mankind is when
- 4:57Speaker 1: it comes down to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe we'll
- 5:00Speaker 1: just talk about this all later. We see that crosswalk
- 5:03Speaker 1: light again. It turns green and there was kind of
- 5:06Speaker 1: music in the background, and it stops. People start to
- 5:09Speaker 1: cross the street. A lot of this before were like
- 5:11Speaker 1: still shots, so now we actually have some movement. I
- 5:14Speaker 1: think they're crossing, like in keyframes, so it's like movement, movement,
- 5:18Speaker 1: movement instead of like a straight animated movement. So we're
- 5:22Speaker 1: still not doing that much animation, but that's okay, the
- 5:25Speaker 1: man continues. However, you don't have to remain a wretched
- 5:28Speaker 1: human being forever. Mankind is finally created an exit whereby
- 5:32Speaker 1: he can sheet mortality and escape. We see that Lane
- 5:36Speaker 1: is standing at the crosswalk while people are starting to
- 5:39Speaker 1: cross around her. She looks up and then to the side,
- 5:43Speaker 1: like at the camera and says, what do you mean? Fuck?
- 5:47Speaker 1: We hear the man say the network, the wired is
- 5:50Speaker 1: the way Lane. Lane's like, but tell me who you are.
- 5:55Speaker 1: The man says, I'm God. What you're not God? Maybe
- 6:01Speaker 1: maybe you're God. I don't know. Lane continues to stand
- 6:04Speaker 1: there as more people pass her by. We cut to
- 6:06Speaker 1: a woman taking her hair out from the back of
- 6:09Speaker 1: her shirt, like you know, like she had just put
- 6:11Speaker 1: her shirt on, and then we see her closing a
- 6:14Speaker 1: button like on her shirt, like over her bra and
- 6:17Speaker 1: then a hand reaches for like a brown either like
- 6:21Speaker 1: tie or ribbon on the bed. And then we see
- 6:24Speaker 1: like girl's legs pass by like a bag on the floor,
- 6:28Speaker 1: and they're wearing like, you know, like a short school skirt.
- 6:33Speaker 1: And it is Mika, actually, you know, Lane's sister, Mika.
- 6:37Speaker 1: She's fixing her hair in like a big mirror. And
- 6:41Speaker 1: there's this dude with like brown hair who looks like
- 6:45Speaker 1: maybe he's her age and obviously they were having sex,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I assume, and he says, want to get something to eat?
- 6:53Speaker 1: She didn't say anything. He continues, come on, aren't you hungry?
- 6:57Speaker 1: Mika does not say anything still, and the guy, oh, no,
- 7:02Speaker 1: I'm sorry. She grabs her bag and she starts to
- 7:06Speaker 1: just walk away. That's very rude, Meka. The guy says, hey, wait,
- 7:11Speaker 1: next time, we'll take you to the pool.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Sure.
- 7:14Speaker 1: We just hear her open and close the door, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: he's alone in his bedroom I guess or something. He
- 7:23Speaker 1: stretches and lays back down on the bed. Now we
- 7:26Speaker 1: see that blue like TV snowscreen and then the green
- 7:31Speaker 1: light on the crosswalk. People are crossing the street again,
- 7:35Speaker 1: as they do at street corners, and we see Mika
- 7:39Speaker 1: looking at something I guess, and then there's people walking again.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Now we get like a closer shot of Meca. She's
- 7:46Speaker 1: looking off to the rights. I guess she's looking at
- 7:49Speaker 1: this group of like teenagers like standing outside this Mozoo
- 7:53Speaker 1: game spot store place. I think there's like a guy
- 7:56Speaker 1: talking to some girl I don't know. She makes this
- 8:00Speaker 1: like really big sigh and she's like, damn it. She
- 8:03Speaker 1: stands up and like brushes off her butt. I had
- 8:06Speaker 1: no idea she was sitting down by the way because
- 8:08Speaker 1: we didn't have a full shot of her. And she
- 8:11Speaker 1: walks away through the crowd in the opposite direction of
- 8:14Speaker 1: all of the teenagers. Yeah, this is already weird. Mega
- 8:18Speaker 1: In the distance, we hear a cargo beet beep beep.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I guess Mika looks over and this red sedan of
- 8:24Speaker 1: some sort is honking and driving towards the crowd, which
- 8:27Speaker 1: is not good. People scream as the car just like
- 8:30Speaker 1: runs right into the crowd, and then we fade to white.
- 8:34Speaker 1: We see Mika again staring somewhere. We've got kind of
- 8:37Speaker 1: this weird Dutch angle of her, and she pushes her
- 8:40Speaker 1: hair over her shoulder and then just walks away as
- 8:44Speaker 1: we hear sirens start to ring out in the distance
- 8:46Speaker 1: and people are staring at like whatever happened, but we
- 8:49Speaker 1: don't see what it was. But apparently Mika is just
- 8:52Speaker 1: she didn't have time for those shits. She's super compassionate, guys.
- 8:56Speaker 1: We cut to a close up of Lane, the big
- 8:59Speaker 1: open mouth smile, and she says, tell me a story.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Standing in front of her on her computer chair. Is
- 9:08Speaker 1: this like doll, like one of those maybe porcelain dolls,
- 9:11Speaker 1: because it's like standing. It's like that's like a rigid
- 9:13Speaker 1: body just stand on our chair and has like long
- 9:17Speaker 1: blonde hair, and Lane is sitting on the floor across
- 9:21Speaker 1: from it, staring at it in all of these upcoming
- 9:24Speaker 1: scenes and you'll understand what I mean in a little while.
- 9:26Speaker 1: She's wearing like this kind of like long dress with
- 9:29Speaker 1: like a bow on it, and she looks a little
- 9:30Speaker 1: bit more childish than we're kind of used to seeing
- 9:32Speaker 1: her look. It's like sunset, so some of the light
- 9:36Speaker 1: is coming through her window and it's just kind of
- 9:38Speaker 1: on her like this orangish pinkish light, and the doll
- 9:43Speaker 1: on the chair is kind of cut off from that
- 9:46Speaker 1: lights and just kind of in this blue, purply darkness,
- 9:49Speaker 1: which makes me feel uncomfortable about this doll. The doll
- 9:54Speaker 1: doesn't say anything because dolls don't talk, and Lane just
- 9:59Speaker 1: kind of looks the and then she says, come on, please,
- 10:03Speaker 1: still kind of smiling. The doll doesn't talk because again,
- 10:07Speaker 1: you know, Lane says, just one story, okay. The doll's like,
- 10:12Speaker 1: what kind of story do you want to hear? Lane?
- 10:14Speaker 1: She doesn't like move her mouth or anything. It's like
- 10:16Speaker 1: she's I don't know, telepathically communicating this or something. I
- 10:20Speaker 1: don't know. Lane says, let's see, hmm, how about something
- 10:25Speaker 1: I've never heard of. The doll is quiet for a second.
- 10:29Speaker 1: She should stay quiet, but she doesn't, and she says,
- 10:32Speaker 1: there's nothing in the world that exists that you don't
- 10:34Speaker 1: already know about. What I can't tell you a story
- 10:38Speaker 1: that doesn't exist. You understand that, right, No, literally, you
- 10:43Speaker 1: can make shit up like that's how you tell stories.
- 10:47Speaker 1: But whatever, we see Lane's eyes kind of wide, and
- 10:50Speaker 1: the doll continues, well, how about this, Then for every event,
- 10:54Speaker 1: there's first a prophecy foreshadowing it. Lane looks pretty shocked
- 10:58Speaker 1: at this, but all continues and event first comes into
- 11:02Speaker 1: existence when there's a prophecy. That's kind of what you
- 11:06Speaker 1: just said. Again, Lane's like, by who who makes these prophecies?
- 11:11Speaker 1: The doll is silent. That's mean doll. And then we
- 11:15Speaker 1: see navvi's glowing screen. We're kind of pulling away from it.
- 11:19Speaker 1: And now we hear a man again say and I
- 11:21Speaker 1: think this man is probably like a newscast man, but
- 11:24Speaker 1: we don't see him. And he says, throughout Tokyo today,
- 11:27Speaker 1: the VTCZX road traffic information system that monitors the entire
- 11:31Speaker 1: metro area sent out information that was incorrect. We see
- 11:35Speaker 1: cars on the road and like an led sign over them,
- 11:39Speaker 1: and the man continues. It seems that the auto drive
- 11:43Speaker 1: programs in cars and trucks interfered with the traffic signals,
- 11:46Speaker 1: sending them out of control. In the Shibuya area of
- 11:49Speaker 1: Tokyo today, we see two cars smashed into each other
- 11:52Speaker 1: at like a street corner, and there's police cars around
- 11:54Speaker 1: and shit like that. The voice continues. The Information Ministry
- 11:58Speaker 1: says the system is up and running and that such
- 12:00Speaker 1: an incident will never happen again. We see a big
- 12:04Speaker 1: screen on a building where all of this is coming from.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I guess Lane is I guess there where this is happening.
- 12:11Speaker 1: She is kind of looking at the ground kind of
- 12:13Speaker 1: sadly as people walk past her. She starts to walk too,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and we see that the pedestrian crossing light is green.
- 12:21Speaker 1: She is walking and looking at the ground, and a
- 12:25Speaker 1: hand holds out a pack of something with like a
- 12:27Speaker 1: rainbow on it, which I think are tissues, but I'm
- 12:30Speaker 1: not sure. Anyway, He gives it to Lane, and Lane
- 12:33Speaker 1: looks down at it like really confused and is like uh.
- 12:36Speaker 1: And then she sees the dude is just walking off
- 12:40Speaker 1: handing one to some other guy. She turns and walks away.
- 12:43Speaker 1: At this point, we see Mika step out of the crowd,
- 12:46Speaker 1: walking in the same direction as Lane was just going.
- 12:48Speaker 1: She gasps slightly as that guy also hands her this
- 12:52Speaker 1: like white tissue rainbow pack. She looks at it kind
- 12:55Speaker 1: of confused as he walks away, and she like narrow
- 12:58Speaker 1: her eyes and goes. We hear a boy say um.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Mika turns and it's like what. There's a kid, like
- 13:05Speaker 1: a really short kid, like maybe he's like twelve, standing
- 13:08Speaker 1: in front of her, and he's like, um, he drinks
- 13:11Speaker 1: some soda. How about a date?
- 13:13Speaker 2: What do you say?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Mika just like sighs it walks away from him, which
- 13:17Speaker 1: is really rude. But then as she's doing that, she
- 13:20Speaker 1: like brushes into him because she's got no depth perception
- 13:24Speaker 1: or something, and heats into the arm that he's holding
- 13:26Speaker 1: the soda in and it spills like all over the
- 13:28Speaker 1: sleeve of her uniform. She gasps, and the boy's like
- 13:31Speaker 1: damn siya and he runs for it. It wasn't his fault.
- 13:35Speaker 1: MICA's like wait, but he does not wait. Mika looks
- 13:39Speaker 1: down at her sleeve and she's like, damn it, oh man.
- 13:43Speaker 1: She reaches in her pocket and takes out that thing
- 13:46Speaker 1: that she just got and it's like, oh, well, I
- 13:48Speaker 1: guess I'll have to get it dry cleaned. She pulls
- 13:51Speaker 1: like what I think is a tissue out of the
- 13:53Speaker 1: white thing, and she like goes to wipe her sleeve,
- 13:57Speaker 1: but then she looks down at the tissue and gasps.
- 14:00Speaker 1: On the tissue In red blotchy writing, it says Hell
- 14:05Speaker 1: is full of the dead. The dead will wander what
- 14:08Speaker 1: MIGA's like, what the fuck? She crumbles it up and
- 14:11Speaker 1: throws it on the ground.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Is this some kind of joke?
- 14:13Speaker 1: She sighs and puts her hand on her forehead. We
- 14:16Speaker 1: hear a woman say what she doing, and then someone
- 14:19Speaker 1: else is like, I don't know. Mega looks over at something,
- 14:23Speaker 1: but we have a close up on her, so we
- 14:24Speaker 1: can't see what. Some guy says, is she crazy or something.
- 14:28Speaker 1: We now see the red crosswalk light and then cars
- 14:32Speaker 1: passing by the intersection, and fucking Lane is just standing
- 14:37Speaker 1: in the middle of the crosswalk in the car's paths.
- 14:41Speaker 1: She looks kind of despondent, and she's like talking to herself,
- 14:44Speaker 1: like we can see her mouth moving, and then we
- 14:47Speaker 1: hear her whisper.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Everyone gets connected. Everyone gets connected. Everyone gets connected, Everyone
- 14:52Speaker 2: gets connected, over and over and over again. Mega gasps
- 14:57Speaker 2: as she sees this, and like cars are like driving
- 14:59Speaker 2: all around Lane. Yeah, remember she's in the street, and
- 15:03Speaker 2: she says Lane, but then she just turns and just
- 15:07Speaker 2: walks away and continues, what the fuck is there problem?
- 15:10Speaker 1: What's your problem? Go get your sister out of the street.
- 15:14Speaker 1: She stops walking, and she looks up at that screen
- 15:16Speaker 1: on the building as people start to cross around her.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I guess the light is green again, and the screen
- 15:22Speaker 1: gets like really kind of like pixelated and blurry for
- 15:25Speaker 1: a second, and then like Lane fades in but not
- 15:29Speaker 1: like Lane standing in the middle of the crosswalk saying,
- 15:32Speaker 1: everyone gets connected, Everyone gets connected, Everyone gets connected. We
- 15:35Speaker 1: would close up on her face and it's like we've
- 15:38Speaker 1: got like a fish eye lens. Mika gasps as Lane
- 15:42Speaker 1: on TV blinks several times, and then we just fade
- 15:46Speaker 1: to black. We fade back up into Lane's eyes closed
- 15:52Speaker 1: as she opens them. Not on the screen, by the way.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Something is in front of her and I don't know
- 15:57Speaker 1: what it is. At this point, I was very confused. Used.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I thought it was like black lines with like two
- 16:03Speaker 1: hats on them, But that's not what it is. It
- 16:06Speaker 1: is like a mask of some kind, like a almost
- 16:09Speaker 1: looks like some sort of tribal mask. And it's like
- 16:12Speaker 1: just hanging out on the chair in front of her,
- 16:14Speaker 1: kind of in that same position as the doll was,
- 16:16Speaker 1: with the same lighting. So she's in like the kind
- 16:19Speaker 1: of sunset or sunrisey light stream, and the mask is
- 16:24Speaker 1: in the dark. So I don't know, man, the mask says,
- 16:29Speaker 1: without moving its mouth or anything. By the way, the
- 16:32Speaker 1: prophecy will be fulfilled, Lane, Lane's like, but then it's
- 16:37Speaker 1: no longer a prophecy, the mask continues. Everything is a prophecy.
- 16:42Speaker 1: History is not a random collection of points scattered along
- 16:45Speaker 1: a timeline. The individual points are connected in a continuum.
- 16:51Speaker 1: They are all connected along a common line. No, it's
- 16:54Speaker 1: more accurate to say that they are made to connect
- 16:56Speaker 1: to the line. Sure, Lane's like, by who who connects
- 17:01Speaker 1: all the points? The mask is silent, geez. They don't
- 17:04Speaker 1: ever want to answer the real questions. We see now
- 17:08Speaker 1: the crosswalk light blinking green, which I guess I don't
- 17:11Speaker 1: see a yellow light in the middle, so maybe it's
- 17:13Speaker 1: like caution, the light's going to change soon. Maybe Mika
- 17:17Speaker 1: is looking up at it I think, And then we
- 17:20Speaker 1: go to the school courtyard and the bell is chiming,
- 17:23Speaker 1: and we cut to the classroom and girls are standing
- 17:26Speaker 1: and talking to each other and Lane is at her desk,
- 17:30Speaker 1: I guess, getting ready to leave, like putting things in
- 17:32Speaker 1: her bag and stuff, and we hear Alice say Lane.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Lane looks over and sees Alice, Judy and Riga standing
- 17:39Speaker 1: in like the doorway, and Alice kind of like waves
- 17:42Speaker 1: at her, like, you know, like come here. Lane walks
- 17:45Speaker 1: over to him, because that's what you do. And Raca's like,
- 17:49Speaker 1: what on earth did you do? Lane, Judy says, I
- 17:52Speaker 1: still can't believe it. I guess you really are pretty good.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Alice is like I had no idea you could pull
- 17:58Speaker 1: off such a complicated hackert like that. Lane's like, what
- 18:02Speaker 1: do you mean? IgA says, stop playing innocent? Okay? Lane says,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I really don't understand. Alice is like, you mean you
- 18:12Speaker 1: honestly didn't do it. Lane says, what we see now
- 18:17Speaker 1: the bright blue knobby screen that's like maybe the whole screen,
- 18:21Speaker 1: and there's like words and stuff is like scrolling. I
- 18:24Speaker 1: don't know, And we hear a guy's voice say, the
- 18:28Speaker 1: Information Controlled Bureau of the Information Ministry began their official
- 18:32Speaker 1: investigation this afternoon. In yesterday's computer crash in the VTCZX
- 18:37Speaker 1: road traffic infosystem, we see like all of Lane' silhouetted
- 18:41Speaker 1: animals on her windowsill, and then we have like a
- 18:44Speaker 1: really glitchy screen, and Lane fades in again in that
- 18:48Speaker 1: same position that she was on the big screen. The
- 18:51Speaker 1: man continues, but really distorted, now, stating that there is
- 18:55Speaker 1: a high probability that this was a deliberate act at
- 18:58Speaker 1: this time, neither the Bureau nor the Information Ministry. And
- 19:01Speaker 1: now we're like panning down on like some telephone poles
- 19:04Speaker 1: with the white sky behind it. The man continues, have
- 19:07Speaker 1: no clues as to what, and it cuts out, and
- 19:09Speaker 1: we just hear static and those power lines humming. We
- 19:13Speaker 1: fade to black. We cut to what I thought was
- 19:16Speaker 1: a digital thought, but it's not. But it says two
- 19:18Speaker 1: eighteen and kind of beeps, and then there's another beep
- 19:21Speaker 1: and it says nine forty eight, and I guess it
- 19:24Speaker 1: is the screen on a register. And there's people standing
- 19:26Speaker 1: at the counter of like a fast food place, and
- 19:29Speaker 1: the caster says, your total is nine hundred and forty
- 19:32Speaker 1: eight gen, which is about five dollars and ninety eight
- 19:34Speaker 1: cents by the way. We see the three girls minus Lane,
- 19:37Speaker 1: sitting in a booth in the corner of the restaurant,
- 19:40Speaker 1: and we hear the cash here say here's your change.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Enjoy your meal. Alice is like, huh oh, no, there
- 19:46Speaker 1: it is again. She's looking at her phone. Rake is like,
- 19:49Speaker 1: not again. Judy says, what Alice is like spam indiscriminate mail.
- 19:55Speaker 1: These guys are so persistent, I know right. We now
- 19:58Speaker 1: are focusing on one of the the trays and it
- 20:01Speaker 1: has like tons of stuff on it, like a drink,
- 20:03Speaker 1: something that looks like a bunch of nuggets, a burger fries,
- 20:06Speaker 1: a long rectangle that might be a dessert, but I
- 20:08Speaker 1: don't know. We hear Raka say, fulfill the prophecy is
- 20:12Speaker 1: that it?
- 20:13Speaker 2: Oh?
- 20:14Speaker 1: Jerry's like, what are we talking about? Is it a
- 20:17Speaker 1: declaration of war by some cult? We now see Alice's
- 20:21Speaker 1: phone with like the mail server open, and Alice says,
- 20:24Speaker 1: I asked some geeks on the wired that I met
- 20:26Speaker 1: a while ago. She's pulling up a piece of email.
- 20:28Speaker 1: They always have the scoop on these kind of things.
- 20:30Speaker 1: She deletes an email. They said it might be the Knights.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Rake is like the Knights, Jury says, who are they?
- 20:39Speaker 1: Alice continues, I think there's some kind of super hacker group.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Rake is like, are you sure? I heard? Hackers hardly
- 20:45Speaker 1: ever work together unless they have to. Alice says, that's true,
- 20:49Speaker 1: but maybe the Knights are some kind of loose affiliation,
- 20:52Speaker 1: not a formal group. They say they have a lot
- 20:54Speaker 1: of power on the wired, and they do a lot
- 20:56Speaker 1: of their work in secret. They're practically impossible to detect.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Judy's like, so they really are like a secret society,
- 21:05Speaker 1: Raka says, so they get their kicks out of messing
- 21:07Speaker 1: with people's emails. Seems like it. Alice is like, I'm
- 21:11Speaker 1: not sure, but maybe Judy's like what Alice continues, maybe
- 21:17Speaker 1: there's another explanation. Maybe they're just not in it for
- 21:20Speaker 1: the fun or money. Judy and make a look at
- 21:22Speaker 1: each other kind of confused, and then back at Alice,
- 21:24Speaker 1: who was across the table from them. By the way,
- 21:26Speaker 1: which I probably should have said earlier. Alice looks like
- 21:28Speaker 1: she's like really thinking hard about something. But then we
- 21:31Speaker 1: go to Lane a close up on her eyes. As
- 21:34Speaker 1: she opens them, she gasps. Her mom is hovering on
- 21:41Speaker 1: the other side of the room in the dark, and
- 21:44Speaker 1: she's in that strip of light from the window. Her
- 21:47Speaker 1: mom says, actually moves her mouth. By the way, the
- 21:50Speaker 1: wired might actually be thought of as a highly advanced
- 21:53Speaker 1: upper layer of the real world. In other words, physical
- 21:56Speaker 1: reality is nothing but an illusion, a hologram of the
- 21:59Speaker 1: information and that flows to us through the wired. Lane
- 22:02Speaker 1: stairs maybe confused or astonished, and she says, mama. Her
- 22:07Speaker 1: mom continues, this is because the body, physical motion, the
- 22:12Speaker 1: activity of the human brain are merely a physical phenomenon
- 22:16Speaker 1: caused by synapses delivering electrical impulses. Laine looks down at
- 22:21Speaker 1: her hands and kind of is moving around, and she
- 22:23Speaker 1: says I. Her mom continues, the physical body exists on
- 22:28Speaker 1: a less evolved plane only to verify one's existence in
- 22:31Speaker 1: the universe. Lane puts her hands down, Are you really,
- 22:35Speaker 1: my mom? Her mom just kind of slowly fades out,
- 22:42Speaker 1: and as she does, Lane says, are you We cut
- 22:46Speaker 1: to her mom's mouth as she eats rice off a chopstick.
- 22:49Speaker 1: They're all sitting at the table in the kitchen, obviously,
- 22:54Speaker 1: and Lane's dad is watching TV without sound. There's like
- 22:57Speaker 1: one right by the table. It's total her dad reaches
- 23:02Speaker 1: out a cup towards her mom, and her mom takes it.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Mika watches her mom put water in a cup or
- 23:09Speaker 1: a something. Then she turns to look at her dad,
- 23:12Speaker 1: who is staring engrossed at the TV. And then she
- 23:15Speaker 1: turns and looks at Lane, who is blankly staring her
- 23:18Speaker 1: soup over and over again. Mika closes her eyes and
- 23:22Speaker 1: then says, Laane. Laine looks up. What. Mika continues, didn't
- 23:27Speaker 1: I see you down in Shibuya. Laane just kind of
- 23:31Speaker 1: stares at her, like mildly confused. Her mom passes the
- 23:36Speaker 1: cup back to her dad, kind of between them because
- 23:39Speaker 1: they're across the table from each other, and Mika says,
- 23:42Speaker 1: forget it, it's it's nothing. We see her dad drink
- 23:45Speaker 1: some of the water and her mom eat the rice again.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Mika stares at them and then lifts up her own
- 23:51Speaker 1: cup and stares into it. I don't know what it is.
- 23:54Speaker 1: It's either milk or water, and it's kind of shimmery,
- 23:57Speaker 1: like the light is reflecting off of it and kind
- 23:59Speaker 1: of on to her face, and then everything goes white.
- 24:03Speaker 1: We see a red pedestrian crossing light fade into focus.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Amika gasps. Cars are passing by and she is like
- 24:12Speaker 1: on her knees in the middle of the intersection. What
- 24:15Speaker 1: the fuck, Mika. She looks up totally dazed, and people
- 24:20Speaker 1: are staring at her from the sidewalk, and then they
- 24:23Speaker 1: turn into these weird gray people shaped blobs sort of.
- 24:27Speaker 1: She gasps and looks behind her and there are more
- 24:30Speaker 1: people shaped blobs. She looks up in fear, and the
- 24:34Speaker 1: camera pulls back and we see that she is in
- 24:37Speaker 1: the middle of this circular shadow like has all these
- 24:40Speaker 1: weird symbols and maybe a crescent moonish thing above her. Sure,
- 24:44Speaker 1: and we fade to black. We fade into two hands,
- 24:48Speaker 1: bald and fists shaking on a table. It's Mika. She's
- 24:51Speaker 1: staring down at them and she looks exhausted and terrified.
- 24:56Speaker 1: She gasps and looks up and she sees people walking
- 25:00Speaker 1: outside of the window. She's in a place, obviously, and
- 25:04Speaker 1: we hear a woman say thank you. Come again soon.
- 25:07Speaker 1: She gasps again and looks in the other direction and
- 25:10Speaker 1: sees that she is sitting alone at a table in
- 25:12Speaker 1: a fast food restaurant. Okay, some girl is at the
- 25:16Speaker 1: table with her friends and she's saying like, hey, I
- 25:18Speaker 1: don't know. I thought he was pretty cute. And everyone's
- 25:20Speaker 1: talking and stuff and acting totally normally. Mika looks at them,
- 25:24Speaker 1: and then she looks at a couple at another table,
- 25:26Speaker 1: and then down at her drink. She starts to lift
- 25:29Speaker 1: the lid, but her hands are shaking so much that
- 25:31Speaker 1: the lid pops off and the coffee falls over and
- 25:34Speaker 1: spills all over the table. She kind of like licks
- 25:37Speaker 1: her fingers because they got some coffee on them, and
- 25:39Speaker 1: then stares down at the spill. There are little areas
- 25:42Speaker 1: where the table is exposed, where like it didn't get
- 25:46Speaker 1: coffee spilled on it, and they start to kind of
- 25:48Speaker 1: morph and move towards the center. She gasps as you
- 25:53Speaker 1: would as they start to turn into actual characters. Her
- 25:57Speaker 1: eyes widen. It says, fill the prophecy what. Her eyes
- 26:03Speaker 1: start to shake, and she stands like super abruptly, and
- 26:07Speaker 1: she's like, what prophecy, what are you talking about? She
- 26:11Speaker 1: looks up and sees that she's now totally alone in
- 26:15Speaker 1: the restaurant. Great. She gasps and shakes as she looks
- 26:19Speaker 1: at all the empty booths around her. We cut to
- 26:22Speaker 1: blue snow on a screen again, and then we fade
- 26:26Speaker 1: to black. In the black, we hear running, and then
- 26:29Speaker 1: we pan past like a wall that we were looking
- 26:32Speaker 1: at into like a bathroom, like through a doorway into
- 26:35Speaker 1: a bathroom. Mika is bent over the sink, panting as
- 26:39Speaker 1: you might be. She looks up at a reflection in
- 26:41Speaker 1: the mirror and says, what's going on? I usually have
- 26:44Speaker 1: dinner with mom and dad right now. It's weird that
- 26:49Speaker 1: she didn't say my family or mom and dad and Lane.
- 26:53Speaker 1: She just said mom and dad. But whatever. While she
- 26:56Speaker 1: is staring in the mirror, we hear the light like
- 26:58Speaker 1: click off in the room goes dark. Mica gasps as
- 27:03Speaker 1: she's doing and stares in the mirror terrified and is like,
- 27:06Speaker 1: why me. We hear a door creak, and she gasps again.
- 27:11Speaker 1: She turns and like peeks around the wall, and she's like,
- 27:16Speaker 1: is someone there? There's a door that's slightly a jar
- 27:19Speaker 1: in the dark to like a stall. I couldn't tell
- 27:23Speaker 1: at first, but that's definitely what it is. And she says, hey,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I know you're in there. She walks forward, breathing hard
- 27:30Speaker 1: and shaking. You should not try to open a door
- 27:32Speaker 1: when someone is going to the bathroom, but whatever, she
- 27:35Speaker 1: reaches for the door slowly, panting and pushes it open.
- 27:40Speaker 1: That's just the toilet in there. At this point, the
- 27:43Speaker 1: lights click back on. Mika sighs, and then the door
- 27:48Speaker 1: slams behind her. She turns and gasps, and written in
- 27:52Speaker 1: red something on the inside of the door, over and
- 27:56Speaker 1: over again, is fulfill the prophecy? Probably tell her what
- 28:01Speaker 1: the prophecy is instead of telling her to fulfill it
- 28:03Speaker 1: because she's gonna get confused. She backs away, panting and
- 28:06Speaker 1: whimpering because she doesn't understand what this means. And then
- 28:09Speaker 1: we cut to a close up of their dad. We
- 28:12Speaker 1: pan out and see that he's hovering in front of Lane,
- 28:16Speaker 1: just like her mom did. That's totally normal, Lane says,
- 28:21Speaker 1: are you really my dad? Her Dad's like, have you
- 28:27Speaker 1: ever considered another possibility that what flows through the wired
- 28:31Speaker 1: isn't merely electrical information? Lane's like, what, her dad continues,
- 28:37Speaker 1: If we can assume that it was a development of
- 28:39Speaker 1: a worldwide system web, you might say, of electricity, phones
- 28:44Speaker 1: and computers that caused the eventual formation of the wired,
- 28:48Speaker 1: then I have to wonder if another world was created. Okay,
- 28:54Speaker 1: Lane's like, uh, her dad continues, here in the real world,
- 28:59Speaker 1: God only as an imaginary concept, but in the Wire
- 29:04Speaker 1: there may actually exist a sort of deis like embodiment
- 29:08Speaker 1: of an all powerful being. Lane's like, is it really God?
- 29:12Speaker 1: Her dad continues, I really don't know whether or not
- 29:16Speaker 1: it should actually be called a god per se, but
- 29:19Speaker 1: at the very least, I think it has the same
- 29:21Speaker 1: kind of supernatural power that's written of in the old
- 29:24Speaker 1: myths and legends. Lane's like, you know, I think it
- 29:28Speaker 1: might have been God that I've talked to on several occasions.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Her dad says, the deeds of the Wired may have
- 29:34Speaker 1: already harnessed enough power to cross over and affect the
- 29:36Speaker 1: real world in some isolated instances. Read close up on
- 29:40Speaker 1: his mouth. For some reason, it's true in the form
- 29:43Speaker 1: of prophecy, he smiles. Lane says, Prophecy, we fade out. Okay,
- 29:53Speaker 1: now we see the front entryway of their house. We're
- 29:56Speaker 1: looking at the door, and we hear footsteps, and Mika
- 30:00Speaker 1: opens the door and like runs in and drops her
- 30:02Speaker 1: back on the floor, closes the door behind her, and
- 30:05Speaker 1: stands there panting, wide eyed because she's having a really
- 30:08Speaker 1: bad day. She then slides down the door into a
- 30:12Speaker 1: sitting position, and she hugs her knees and just cries.
- 30:16Speaker 1: We pan back down the hallway, just kind of looking
- 30:18Speaker 1: at her for a while, and then we kind of
- 30:21Speaker 1: see the wall by the stairs and someone comes around
- 30:24Speaker 1: the corner and it is Mika wearing a red hoodie. Great,
- 30:29Speaker 1: now there's two of them. Mika looks up and sees
- 30:32Speaker 1: herself wearing a red hoodie and gasps, and Red Meka
- 30:38Speaker 1: stops and looks over the mega by the door, which
- 30:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna call the real Meca stands and starts to
- 30:44Speaker 1: run towards Red Meka, but then she stops because this
- 30:47Speaker 1: is scary, and she just stares in horror. Red Meka
- 30:50Speaker 1: stares back, but just blankly. They're just kind of staring
- 30:54Speaker 1: at each other from across the hall as Real Mika
- 30:57Speaker 1: just panics internally. And then we cut to the view
- 31:01Speaker 1: like behind Red Meka, because you know, we were looking
- 31:04Speaker 1: kind of from real Mika's perspective, so we're seeing what
- 31:07Speaker 1: the other Meka is seeing facing the door, and real
- 31:10Speaker 1: Mika's not there. There's no one there. That's kind of
- 31:12Speaker 1: a weird shadow in the corner of the door, which
- 31:14Speaker 1: I didn't understand where it was coming from, but there's
- 31:17Speaker 1: not a person Lane walks up and is like, what's wrong,
- 31:22Speaker 1: Red Meka is like nothing, nothing at all. She turns
- 31:27Speaker 1: and slowly, very slowly walks upstairs. Fuck Lane watches her
- 31:33Speaker 1: and then looks over at the door, kind of concerned
- 31:35Speaker 1: because there are some whitish humanish shaped thing like standing there,
- 31:40Speaker 1: kind of an amorphous thing. It's kind of like wavy,
- 31:43Speaker 1: like glitchy or something. I don't really know, but it's there,
- 31:47Speaker 1: and it has like the general outline of Mika sort of,
- 31:52Speaker 1: and it looks really fucking upset, as you might if
- 31:55Speaker 1: you didn't exist anymore. Lane just kind of continues to
- 31:58Speaker 1: stare at it, and it just eventually fades away. And
- 32:02Speaker 1: also that weird shadow that was on the door's gone now,
- 32:05Speaker 1: so fuck you are black. Lane opens the door to
- 32:10Speaker 1: her room, which is dark except for like the light
- 32:13Speaker 1: coming in from the hall, and the light hits like
- 32:16Speaker 1: a bunch of stuff computer stuff like wires and shit,
- 32:20Speaker 1: and she walks in and closes the door behind her,
- 32:22Speaker 1: and it's black again. At this point, we see the
- 32:25Speaker 1: word thermal sensor on a screen and green, and then
- 32:28Speaker 1: Nabby's screen comes on. We see this happen like with
- 32:31Speaker 1: two other screens, and then we see that there are
- 32:33Speaker 1: four screens on in the darkness, and then we pan
- 32:37Speaker 1: out and we see there's actually six computers that are
- 32:40Speaker 1: just lit up, kind of lighting everything up, and so
- 32:42Speaker 1: everything's mostly dark except for the silhouettes of wires and
- 32:45Speaker 1: like computer pieces. We then cut to a closeup of
- 32:48Speaker 1: Lane's face in the blue computer lights, and she says,
- 32:52Speaker 1: who will it be today? To be continued, and then
- 32:55Speaker 1: we go the ending theme and that's it. Yay, I
- 32:59Speaker 1: think So closing thoughts, I don't know. So a bunch
- 33:04Speaker 1: of stuff's going on. That's pretty interesting. So, I mean,
- 33:07Speaker 1: obviously we have the whole thing with Mika. That's kind
- 33:10Speaker 1: of the main What the fuck again, we don't know
- 33:12Speaker 1: what the prophecy is? How could she fulfill it if
- 33:15Speaker 1: she doesn't know what it is? I feel like that's mean,
- 33:18Speaker 1: so that sucks. But also I don't understand. So she
- 33:22Speaker 1: was at dinner, and then she just wasn't at dinner anymore.
- 33:25Speaker 1: She was just in the middle of the streets. And
- 33:28Speaker 1: at first I actually thought that this was a dream
- 33:30Speaker 1: or something, but it wasn't. So what the fuck? How
- 33:33Speaker 1: did she get there? Why are there two mikas? I
- 33:36Speaker 1: was thinking maybe she died cause there was the car
- 33:40Speaker 1: remember the car accident thing, where like the car drove
- 33:44Speaker 1: through the crowd of people and Mika was there and
- 33:46Speaker 1: then she just kind of walked away like it was
- 33:48Speaker 1: no big deal. Maybe she got hit and there's something
- 33:52Speaker 1: like a doppelgang or thing that's like in her place,
- 33:54Speaker 1: and she's just having these weird experiences because she's not
- 33:57Speaker 1: a person anymore and she's I don't know, but why
- 34:01Speaker 1: is there another Mika still that is being acknowledged as
- 34:05Speaker 1: a person. I don't know, but I would be scared
- 34:11Speaker 1: if I were her too. Hopefully we'll find out what's
- 34:14Speaker 1: going on with that, because I don't know what you're
- 34:16Speaker 1: supposed to take away from that, except that she's supposed
- 34:19Speaker 1: to fulfill the prophecy, but she doesn't know what it is.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Like I just keep saying, so fuck so that's happening.
- 34:27Speaker 1: And then Leyne is just talking of things and her
- 34:29Speaker 1: family members about the Wired. So I guess what we're
- 34:35Speaker 1: getting from the Wired right now is this The Wired
- 34:37Speaker 1: is an extension of the real world, but it's like
- 34:39Speaker 1: the better part of the real world, where like things
- 34:42Speaker 1: are going to be good and you don't have to
- 34:43Speaker 1: have a physical body, which I actually think physical bodies
- 34:46Speaker 1: are pretty fucking cool. But hey, I get that some
- 34:50Speaker 1: people don't. So it's like a evolution or like the
- 34:54Speaker 1: next plane of existence, I guess. And yeah, I'm not
- 34:59Speaker 1: thrilled about all of that, and I'm not thrilled about
- 35:01Speaker 1: the whole like humans are like terrible and they're they
- 35:05Speaker 1: just want pleasures of the flesh because a I think
- 35:09Speaker 1: that that's true the whole people want to seek out
- 35:12Speaker 1: good things and some people feel like they don't have
- 35:14Speaker 1: a purpose. I think that that's extends beyond humans. I
- 35:17Speaker 1: don't really think animals are that different. I think everybody
- 35:20Speaker 1: wants to feel good, So I think that like putting
- 35:24Speaker 1: that focus on humans are bad because they want to
- 35:26Speaker 1: feel good is weird. I kind of always thought that
- 35:30Speaker 1: was weird. So I don't like that whole thing. And
- 35:32Speaker 1: I don't like, of course, being like all humans don't
- 35:34Speaker 1: evolve anymore, because we do absolutely So I don't know, man,
- 35:39Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I don't know something like that.
- 35:42Speaker 1: But uh yeah, so that's kind of taking me off
- 35:45Speaker 1: a little. And it's interesting because I don't know right
- 35:48Speaker 1: now if I'm supposed to be like, oh, this is
- 35:50Speaker 1: what like is trying to be communicated in this anime
- 35:53Speaker 1: or if there's something else, Like I don't know if
- 35:58Speaker 1: that is just the viewpoint of this dude who might
- 36:01Speaker 1: be God, or if it's the viewpoint of the show
- 36:04Speaker 1: as a whole. So it'll be interesting to see which
- 36:07Speaker 1: one it is. The other thing I wanted to point out,
- 36:11Speaker 1: and I can't really explain why this is important, but
- 36:15Speaker 1: Lane asked her mom and her dad if they were
- 36:18Speaker 1: really her mom and her dad, which makes sense in
- 36:21Speaker 1: context because they were in her room levitating and telling
- 36:25Speaker 1: her about the Internet. But just remember that, Okay, remember
- 36:29Speaker 1: that those conversations happened because they think that's going to
- 36:32Speaker 1: be important down the line. Yeah, so yeah, this is interesting.
- 36:38Speaker 1: And also is Lane having a psychotic break in the
- 36:40Speaker 1: middle of intersections or did that even happen at all? Like,
- 36:44Speaker 1: because Mika has so many weird things going on with her,
- 36:46Speaker 1: did she just see Lane when she wasn't even there?
- 36:49Speaker 1: I mean, I believe Lane was on the big screen
- 36:51Speaker 1: and maybe caused some traffic accidents, but was she standing
- 36:55Speaker 1: in the crosswalk in Shibuia? I don't know. So yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 1: that's really all I have I think, which is kind
- 37:04Speaker 1: of feels like a lot, I don't know what's going on,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and honestly, I only kind of remember what's going on,
- 37:10Speaker 1: so I kind of feel like I really don't know
- 37:11Speaker 1: what's going on. I mean, I know what's going on,
- 37:13Speaker 1: but whatever, pretend I don't know. So I still don't know.
- 37:19Speaker 1: If I have an inspection tomorrow. They have not gotten
- 37:21Speaker 1: back to me. This is bad, but that doesn't matter
- 37:25Speaker 1: to you because when you hear this, I will have
- 37:27Speaker 1: already had the inspection or not had it, and it
- 37:30Speaker 1: will already have gone in a direction. But I'm gonna
- 37:33Speaker 1: go get ready for the inspection like I'm having. It's
- 37:36Speaker 1: like charge batteries and things. And I hope you have
- 37:39Speaker 1: a really good whatever. And if you have inspections that
- 37:44Speaker 1: you know what times and days they are already and
- 37:47Speaker 1: it's not confusing. I will, you know, see you next
- 37:51Speaker 1: week unless bad things later. Weeps
