- 0:00Speaker 1: This is kiss breakfast you know jennifer garner the actress
- 0:04Speaker 1: she was married to ben affleck for over 10 years
- 0:06Speaker 1: they've got three children together um ended up getting divorced
- 0:10Speaker 1: back in 2018 and then he of course famously went
- 0:12Speaker 1: back to.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Jennifer lopez after that loves a jennifer benders um so
- 0:16Speaker 2: like a lot of women jennifer felt the pressure to
- 0:19Speaker 2: look after her kids when they were young so she
- 0:21Speaker 2: had to take a step back from work But then
- 0:23Speaker 2: when she was off work looking after her kids, as
- 0:26Speaker 2: an actress, she started freaking out and panicking, thinking, how
- 0:28Speaker 2: long am I actually going to be able to act for?
- 0:30Speaker 2: If I take so much time off, I'm aging. I'm
- 0:33Speaker 2: no longer relevant. So she spoke about that in a
- 0:35Speaker 2: new interview.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I panicked when I was first out of my marriage
- 0:40Speaker 3: and realized I had taken such a step back in
- 0:42Speaker 3: my work. Suddenly I realized, like, I don't know how
- 0:45Speaker 3: long I'll be able to work. It's not this isn't
- 0:47Speaker 3: a career that's like, hey, you're 60, you're 55, you're 43.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Come on, let's let's pay you more than you've ever made.
- 0:53Speaker 3: You know what I mean? That's not been traditionally the role.
- 0:56Speaker 3: And I was suddenly like, wait a minute, I have to.
- 1:00Speaker 3: take care of myself. I have to take care of
- 1:01Speaker 3: these kids.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I mean, I suppose women in acting or whatever feel
- 1:04Speaker 4: it anyway. Like, you take time out to do maternity leave.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Us blokes don't even think about it, right? It's the
- 1:09Speaker 4: same in the music industry, though, as well.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Like, have you noticed that as soon as any artist
- 1:13Speaker 2: has a kid, their career just becomes less successful?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 4: It's like people want to see them sort of young
- 1:19Speaker 4: and hot and dancing around.
- 1:20Speaker 2: And then I think it's just ingrained into the industry,
- 1:23Speaker 2: even though people don't realise they're discriminating against someone.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Subtly doing it. I wonder what will happen to someone.
- 1:29Speaker 2: at the scale of Taylor Swift when she eventually, because
- 1:32Speaker 2: she's now married.
- 1:34Speaker 4: As a kid, will her record career take a dive?
- 1:37Speaker 2: But then again, you know what? When Adele had some
- 1:39Speaker 2: of her biggest songs, she was a mother. Yeah, but it's...
- 1:42Speaker 2: Different style of music.
- 1:43Speaker 4: It is, right? And it's not like going after the
- 1:45Speaker 4: teens or whatever?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah, she was releasing music for mature women.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's like never a dude thing, is it?
- 1:51Speaker 2: No, you guys never have to worry.
- 1:52Speaker 4: No, but there'll be heaps of like dudes, singers in
- 1:55Speaker 4: rock bands and stuff, Sean.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't happen.
- 1:58Speaker 6: It's true.
- 1:58Speaker 5: It's unfair, but that's the way it goes. I don't know.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I don't like that it's unfair, but that's the way
- 2:03Speaker 2: it goes.
- 2:03Speaker 4: You can try and change it.
- 2:05Speaker 5: How?
- 2:05Speaker 4: Can't fight the system.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to try. Well, I'm going to be
- 2:07Speaker 2: a working mum. So I'd like to think that I
- 2:10Speaker 2: can do both.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Yeah, have you thought through all the extreme details you're
- 2:15Speaker 4: going to have to go through?
- 2:16Speaker 2: No, because I think you can't until you know what
- 2:19Speaker 2: kind of baby you're going to have. Like I could
- 2:21Speaker 2: have a very needy child, which could affect how long
- 2:25Speaker 2: I need to take off work. It's all those things
- 2:27Speaker 2: and it's so specific to everyone's individual situation.
- 2:31Speaker 4: What's the agenda again?
- 2:33Speaker 1: Not telling you.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Give it a rest, mate.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I'll tell you soon.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I reckon you'll get it one day.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I said I want to get it by the
- 2:39Speaker 4: end of the show.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I do have baby brain too, so it probably will happen.
- 2:43Speaker 1: What's the gender? No.
- 2:44Speaker 4: You ask quickly. Ginger of your kid? I'm not telling.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Also, massive news yesterday that Bruno Mars is coming to
- 2:53Speaker 2: Australia on the Romantic Tour. So he's going to be
- 2:56Speaker 2: touring Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in Feb and March
- 2:59Speaker 2: of next year. And he caught up with Kiss's very
- 3:02Speaker 2: own Smallsy and spoke about why he loves fans staying
- 3:05Speaker 2: off their phones during his concerts.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Oh, I agree with that. Here we go.
- 3:09Speaker 6: For people who don't know, you would go into your
- 3:11Speaker 6: show when you were doing the residency and people had
- 3:13Speaker 6: to put their phones in a bag because... You wanted
- 3:15Speaker 6: them to be present and in the moment.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 6: And you walk away from the show going, that was
- 3:21Speaker 6: the best experience of my life. No distractions, just focused,
- 3:25Speaker 6: squared in on stage.
- 3:25Speaker 5: That means the world to me, Smallsy. Thank you. I
- 3:28Speaker 5: know how people feel about having their phones. But I
- 3:31Speaker 5: feel like there's a magic effect that happens when you're
- 3:36Speaker 5: immersed in a concert or experience that everyone is with you.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 5: You know, I feel like sometimes when the phones come out,
- 3:46Speaker 5: it's like there's a separation. So being able to have
- 3:50Speaker 5: these moments and feeling that is what I do it for.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Hey, the full interview is live now on the Smallsy
- 3:57Speaker 4: Show podcast on the free iHeart app. I got to say,
- 3:59Speaker 4: I agree with him. Not Smallsy. Well, I agree with
- 4:03Speaker 4: Smallsy on many things, but I agree. With Bruno Mars.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Why do you go to a concert and film it?
- 4:08Speaker 4: No one's watching your grainy crap story on Instagram.
- 4:11Speaker 2: No, I think one story or you weren't there, whether
- 4:14Speaker 2: that be.
- 4:15Speaker 4: A photo or a video, but. Do a photo.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I normally do a photo in all honesty. But
- 4:20Speaker 2: then also when I've done that before, because you do
- 4:23Speaker 2: fall victim to it because you see other people or
- 4:24Speaker 2: your favourite song comes on, you're like, oh my God,
- 4:26Speaker 2: and you film it or another one comes on, you're like,
- 4:27Speaker 2: I forgot about this song. But I have never in
- 4:30Speaker 2: my life watched any video back that I've ever recorded
- 4:34Speaker 2: at a concert.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Right, so you don't watch your own and I don't
- 4:36Speaker 4: think anyone watches anyone's. If you're going to Alex Warren tonight,
- 4:39Speaker 4: he's playing in Sydney.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Phone down.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Yeah, put your phone down. No one wants to see
- 4:42Speaker 4: your grainy Instagram story where we can barely hear it
- 4:45Speaker 4: and there's bloody heads in front of you.
- 4:47Speaker 2: And you're singing in the background and you sound like shit. Hey,
- 4:51Speaker 2: Monday morning, every single caller who gets on air with
- 4:55Speaker 2: us is going to win tickets to see Bruno Mars
- 4:58Speaker 2: on the romantic tour. in our famous Kiss You Get
- 5:01Speaker 2: A Series. So make sure that you are listening from
- 5:03Speaker 2: 6 a.m. Monday morning, and you'll be there. I've been
- 5:06Speaker 2: to his concert, by the way. Best one I've ever
- 5:07Speaker 2: been to.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Well, there you go, and it could be you.
