- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So conditions are about to change.
- 0:33We've got a weather forecast that the, we're getting this
- 0:37massive blast from the north, it's coming down South and that
- 0:41things are going to be cold below freezing.
- 0:44And it's always funny to me when this happens because there's
- 0:49part of me that grew up up north where it's like, So what?
- 0:51It's below freezing, no big deal.
- 0:54It's like that's what we do. And then there's part of me
- 0:56that's southern and goes, Oh no, Oh no, how cold is cold?
- 1:02And I start to panic just in general because I don't like the
- 1:05cold weather. But then there's a part of me
- 1:07that's like in that space of like, OK, plants, I have to
- 1:10think about the plants. So as human beings, we know when
- 1:15we get alerts like the weather alert, we have to take, you
- 1:18know, advice, the advice that they're giving us and say bring
- 1:22in any delicate plants you have, bring in anything that you don't
- 1:25want to be affected by the cold. Make sure that your pipes are
- 1:29drained for outside so that nothing freezes.
- 1:32You know, all the all the good stuff that's pretty standard and
- 1:34normal and whatnot. Well, here's the funny part.
- 1:38We'll listen to certain things like that, but when we get
- 1:41alerts and warnings about things that are coming as adults in
- 1:46other ways, we don't necessarily always pay attention to them.
- 1:50Now, I'm not saying panic, but you have to, you know, assess.
- 1:53Is this going to be serious? Is this going to be something I
- 1:57need to be prepared for? Do I want to be prepared for it?
- 2:00And sometimes we just have the wrong emotion driving when we're
- 2:03assessing things and that's the problem.
- 2:05So I could sit there and I could put like, like not put, but you
- 2:09know, anxiety and certainty are always right towards the front
- 2:13of my bus. So I could easily just let them
- 2:15take over and be like, OK, we have to bring everything in.
- 2:19We have to do this. We have to do this, but because
- 2:22I have been at this so long, managing my emotions and
- 2:25choosing them, I'm like, OK, let me see what's real, what's
- 2:28perceived and what I need to pay attention to.
- 2:31And I know I have some very delicate plants like a
- 2:33coleandra, which is a nickname powder puff.
- 2:36Those need to come inside. I know that they need to come
- 2:38inside for this. And I could have brought them in
- 2:41already because it's gotten just below 50.
- 2:44But it's OK that nothing happened there on the porch.
- 2:46They're tight to the house, so they're OK to that to that
- 2:50point. But going down below 40, that's
- 2:53a danger. So that's a real that's a real
- 2:56thing. And I can be prepared for that.
- 2:58When it's something that's like borderline succulents, things
- 3:02like that. I have to think about it, OK,
- 3:04what what's real and what's perceived.
- 3:07And I ask myself that question a lot.
- 3:10As you know, if you're a regular listener, questions are my best
- 3:14friend. They have been my whole life.
- 3:16I endured 6th, 7th and 8th grade facing the wall because I asked
- 3:20too many questions. So this is not just something
- 3:23that's a learned behavior from, you know, the, the, the job that
- 3:26I do in coaching people, this is ingrained in me to be curious
- 3:30and ask questions. And I often didn't ask the right
- 3:35questions. So now I, I work very hard to
- 3:38make sure I'm asking myself the right questions so I don't panic
- 3:41and in conditions that are surrounding us, we need to pay
- 3:45attention. So if you're in a company and
- 3:48you see things are changing and you don't like how the culture
- 3:51is going and you don't like certain attributes of what
- 3:53they're doing, those are conditions changing, my friends.
- 3:57And you have to ask yourself, do I want to be a part of this?
- 4:00If you know, you're in an industry where it tends to have
- 4:04toxicity and you're like, okay, I still like what I do, but I
- 4:09don't like the conditions in which I have to do it.
- 4:12And you're currently in a position where you could start
- 4:15something on your own, become a consultant, do it in a different
- 4:18way so that you control the conditions.
- 4:21What's that? What's wrong with trying that?
- 4:23I mean, for goodness sakes, I'm in an industry that has tons and
- 4:28tons and tons of people in it. And some of them, to me are
- 4:31false prophets. Some of them are charlatans.
- 4:34Some of them try to take advantage, and I try to avoid
- 4:38all the noise and create the conditions in which I want to
- 4:42operate because I'm in charge of my own ecology, my own economy,
- 4:47my own drive. I am in charge of all of that.
- 4:50And when I believe that and I wholly own that, then I can
- 4:53create whatever I choose to create.
- 4:56Now, that may sound silly and it may sound bold, and somebody
- 4:59might say, well, you know, you can't just force yourself to
- 5:02fly. But there are ways I could fly
- 5:05if I chose to fly. I could get a jetpack if I
- 5:08wanted to. There are ways that I could make
- 5:10things happen. And sometimes you run into the
- 5:14questions of like, well, do I really even want this?
- 5:17And that's something we have to keep asking ourselves, too.
- 5:20So conditions matter, and we always have to look at them and
- 5:24ask better questions of them. So first and foremost, I'm going
- 5:28to get my plants ready to come in because these conditions are
- 5:30real, not perceived, and I've got to get some of them in.
- 5:34Not all of them, some of them. And really what's crazy is some
- 5:38of them do well when they have a little bit of cold, all of a
- 5:41sudden you'll notice they, they have a different look about them
- 5:44and it makes them more resilient.
- 5:46And some have to be cold in order to flower.
- 5:49Some have to have that cold snap in order to do other things.
- 5:52So know your plants, know yourself, and go out there and
- 5:56figure it out, all right, What the conditions are ideal for
- 6:00you. Figure it out and know what
- 6:01matters. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:03you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:06Bye.
