- 0:12What's going on everybody? ABJBP Burke not Live Today.
- 0:17So don't go in the chats and be like why are they ignoring us?
- 0:20This is pre recorded because BP wants to watch his birds play
- 0:23the Cowboys. So for your entertainment, we're
- 0:26going to bring to you the WWF Eagle Winged Eagle Championship.
- 0:30For the entire decade, the WWF Winged Eagle World Heavyweight
- 0:33Championship set at the very top of the wrestling mountain.
- 0:35From Hulk Hogan's larger than life reigns to Bret Hart's
- 0:38precision from Shawn Michaels boyhood dream, the birth of the
- 0:41Attitude Era, this belt was not just surprised, it was a symbol
- 0:44of excellence. Today we deep dive into the
- 0:46history of the Winged Eagle Championship, how it came to be,
- 0:49the legends who wore it, the controversies that shaped it,
- 0:52and why even after decades after it's retired, fans still call it
- 0:55the most beautiful title belt ever made.
- 0:58Let's get on with the show. BP Burke, what's going on?
- 1:03It didn't even dawn on me until you said that, that we are doing
- 1:08a pre taped show about a belt with an eagle on it because I
- 1:11want to watch the eagles so. Yes, yeah, today is very.
- 1:14Good synergy, very good synergy and hopefully at this point it's
- 1:18a kickoff is what like it. This is about eight O 6.
- 1:22Kickoff is about 15 minutes away.
- 1:24The banner's probably been unfurled.
- 1:27It's going to be a fun time. Jerry Jones has to eat once
- 1:30again. Look at a a a banner that's not
- 1:32his. He does.
- 1:34Somebody else in the No, he doesn't.
- 1:35He doesn't actually want to the football team to be good.
- 1:38He just wants to make money off it.
- 1:41Yeah, pretty much. But anyway, we're not here to
- 1:43talk about that. We're going to talk about
- 1:44wrestling. Yeah, well, real quick before we
- 1:47start, BP got got me some Oktoberfest, Yingling, I got
- 1:51some tropes and, and Yingling Oktoberfest.
- 1:54So I'm gonna, I'm gonna crack one of those as we get started
- 1:57here. BP, the Winged Eagle
- 2:00Championship. Where does this rank for you as
- 2:02favored belts when it when it comes to the rains, the history
- 2:06of the whole 9. Without going into all of that,
- 2:08probably #2I. I, I, I'm kind of back and forth
- 2:13on if number 2 is that for me or the WCW United States title?
- 2:17But I can't get, I think it's as CM Punk, we call it the eagle
- 2:21because CM Punk very astutely put it, well, all eagles have
- 2:25wings. Agreed, agreed, I told.
- 2:27I'm with CM Punk. I mean, I'm normally with always
- 2:30with CM Punk, but even more so on this one.
- 2:34Yeah, no. And but yeah, it, it, it's a,
- 2:36it's a title that has really firmly, firmly, firmly establish
- 2:42itself in the in the zeitgeist to professional wrestling,
- 2:45especially now because maybe not so much for like people who are
- 2:48coming in now. Like it, it, it, it, it really
- 2:51makes you think about how old you are when like people like,
- 2:55oh, I grew up watching John Cena.
- 2:56Now he's retiring. And I'm like, when John Cena
- 2:59started, I was like in my mid 20s.
- 3:00So I'm old. Well, not my early 20s, I'm,
- 3:04I'm, I'm not that old, but yeah, so this is like the belt of my
- 3:09childhood. This is my my formative time
- 3:11watching wrestling from like 1988 to 1998 is probably, well,
- 3:17it is the 1st 10 years I can consciously remember.
- 3:20I mean, I was watching wrestling since I was a baby, but like I
- 3:22can consciously remember watching wrestling.
- 3:25It's it's this title. Yeah, this this title is the
- 3:28same with me. This is this is my this is my
- 3:32favorite title. This is the title I grew up
- 3:34watching this from. Like you said in the intro, I
- 3:36mean it went from Hogan to to Brett to Sean and a few people
- 3:40in between. But this is this is
- 3:42quintessential the the belt like who like that run of titles and
- 3:47champions was to me my favorite time of pro wrestling.
- 3:51So it, it is my favorite title and it's the first title for me
- 3:55that or that era where like Sean, I never really had like, I
- 3:59mean, I grew up as a Washington fan and, and stuff like that.
- 4:02I mean, it's hard to say. I, I mean, I'm kind of acting
- 4:04like a, a fan who hasn't really experienced much.
- 4:07But like growing up, I was a Chicago Bulls fan.
- 4:10So I had a pretty good stretch start for a bit at Washington.
- 4:12I mean, you were you were pretty young, but Washington one of
- 4:14them What, 1992 like? Yeah, but here's the thing.
- 4:16My dad only, like, I didn't know my dad was a Washington fan
- 4:19until much, much. I'm only 86, so 92.
- 4:22I'm like, I don't give a shit about professional football.
- 4:25Like I just don't care. It was pro wrestling Ninja
- 4:27Turtles. Like that's all, yeah, that's
- 4:29all I cared about. But yeah.
- 4:32So when when that when that came about, it was just, I don't
- 4:36know, I I didn't really care. But like, Shawn Michaels is the
- 4:38first guy that I, I got to watch win the title.
- 4:41And it it it's it really sealed for me.
- 4:47What like what made the championship, you know what I
- 4:50mean? And just like it, it made it
- 4:52feel special. And I was like, I I got to watch
- 4:54that guy hold it up. And I was like, oh, this is this
- 4:57is cool, you know? But yeah, so, so I as the show
- 5:02goes, I will present and show off my new title, which is based
- 5:06off of the Winged Eagle. It's it's sitting up over there.
- 5:09I have two versions of it. I got the the one I did unboxing
- 5:11for on the channel, the one I got from Amazon, the Shawn
- 5:14Michaels one that's supposed to be the WE Shop replica.
- 5:16It's not. And then I got my new custom
- 5:19belt made by Cody. I don't know what his business
- 5:21name is yet, so I can't really put that over, but I will as
- 5:24soon as he gets it set up. Now there's two versions of his
- 5:26belt BP, There's a secondary version which I think it's a lot
- 5:29more love than the first, but some people really like the
- 5:31first one too. So the first one that Hogan wore
- 5:34when it was kind of introduced was this dual plated version
- 5:38where it's the silver backdrop with the gold, the heavyweights
- 5:41blended in with the gold, and then there's the all gold
- 5:44version with the solid black heavyweight across the front.
- 5:47Which one do you prefer? Oh, that one, the one that's on
- 5:50the screen now with the solid gold is.
- 5:52The solid gold, so that that was more of the I believe Brett
- 5:57ushered in that belt, if I'm not mistaken.
- 6:00Yeah, that that I don't know about.
- 6:02I know Hogan, at least for his first reign, like people really
- 6:06do associate that title with Hogan.
- 6:07And he did have it like especially in the 90s, but in
- 6:10the 80s really, or that first run that Hogan's really known
- 6:15for from 84 to 88. He only wore that design
- 6:18literally one time, but it happened to be the the debut for
- 6:22this title belt is the first or probably it's definitely the
- 6:27most watched professional wrestling match in the United
- 6:29States ever. It may be the most watched
- 6:32professional wrestling match, although they do say it's
- 6:34consider a Nokia and Ali's fight a professional wrestling match.
- 6:38It was a work that kind of turned into a shoot that was
- 6:42more than likely more watched. But Hogan, Andre on the main
- 6:46event on NBC in 1988 before a few, a few weeks before
- 6:50WrestleMania 4 or a few months before WrestleMania 4.
- 6:54That is the, the pinnacle of professional wrestling ratings.
- 6:58Like we talk about ratings now. And if a show gets like 2 or
- 7:013,000,000 viewers, it's doing amazing things on TV.
- 7:06Hogan and Andre in a in a very different TV universe where
- 7:09cable TV is kind of in its infancy.
- 7:12It's starting to become a little more popular, but there's no
- 7:15YouTube, there's no streaming services, there's no Internet
- 7:20besides like the the Department of Defense and stuff.
- 7:24At this point, 33 million people watch Andre the Giant with a
- 7:31referee who had plastic surgery to look like Dave Hebner giving
- 7:35him a big assist. It totally was an Earl.
- 7:38They they're all joining in to see Andre the Giant and the four
- 7:42plus year reign of Hulk Hogan. And then he gives the as he said
- 7:46he is going to give the WWF Tag Team Championship to Ted
- 7:51Dibiase. And he he sold the belt to
- 7:54Dibiase, who actually does defend it once or twice on house
- 7:57shows before Jack, Tony, the president steps in and says you
- 8:01can't buy a championship. And we could the WrestleMania 4
- 8:05tournament. But I may be getting ahead of
- 8:06myself. So who created this title?
- 8:10Reggie Parks. Reggie Parks The sometimes
- 8:15wrestlers. Sometimes I, I think he did have
- 8:18a, a bit of a run in wrestling. Reggie Parks was a very famous
- 8:21wrestling bell creator. He unfortunately did pass away
- 8:24due to COVID-19 a few years ago during the pandemic.
- 8:28I believe he was in his 80s. But Reggie Parks is the, the,
- 8:31the brains behind the, the, the legendary Winged Eagle title.
- 8:35He, he made a lot of major championships in that era.
- 8:38And I think on the last show we did, I promised a Reggie Parks
- 8:42story and it's more of an Owen Hart story than a Reggie Parks
- 8:45story. But, and and Brett says this was
- 8:48WrestleMania 4. My suspicion is it may have been
- 8:50WrestleMania 5 because Owen was working for the WWF at that
- 8:54point. It's a Blue Blazer in in 84 or
- 8:5788 when WrestleMania 4 was happening, which was one of the
- 9:00big early moments for this title.
- 9:03At that point, Owen was wrestling in for New Japan.
- 9:07But Brett has a hotel room in Atlantic City.
- 9:10Wrestlemania's in Atlantic City again or for the first time if
- 9:13it's WrestleMania 4. And Stu was staying with him.
- 9:16He brought his parents to to come to to WrestleMania with
- 9:19him. And Brett gets a call in his
- 9:22hotel room and the guy says, hey, this is Reggie Parks.
- 9:25And Brett's like, OK, Sounds like Reggie.
- 9:28The Reggie had come through Stampede.
- 9:30He was one of the victims of the Dungeon.
- 9:32He wrestled for Stampede for a little bit.
- 9:34He would come back and visit the Hearts.
- 9:36He was very close with with the Heart family.
- 9:38And he Reggie says, can I talk to your dad?
- 9:41And so Brett hands the phone over to Stu.
- 9:44Hey, hey, Reggie, how you doing Reggie?
- 9:47And Brett says as this conversation goes on, Stu is
- 9:51getting more and more agitated. He's getting more and more
- 9:53angry. He's getting more and more
- 9:54animated. And from what he understands, at
- 9:58some point, Reggie Parks, I'm going to use quotes here.
- 10:01Reggie Parks says, Hey, you know, Stu, I, I, I respect that
- 10:06you never really wanted me to try it because you knew I could
- 10:08beat you. And like that.
- 10:11That's not something you say to Stu Hart.
- 10:12You're like, Reggie, if if you wanted to try me, you should
- 10:16have tried me or why didn't you try me?
- 10:18He's just getting angry and angrier.
- 10:20And eventually you find out it's just Owen Heart messing with his
- 10:22dad, which was such a typical Owen Heart thing.
- 10:27He also didn't he also make the UFC title I believe.
- 10:32He may have I I'm not sure everything that Reggie Parks
- 10:35made, but he was one of the early prolific makers before
- 10:38like Dave Milliken and a lot of the other guys would make make
- 10:42belts a little bit later. Reggie Parks is one of the first
- 10:44guys to to make them pretty widespread.
- 10:47Yeah, yeah. So the this belt does kick off
- 10:52with with Hogan wearing it. I just want to get you.
- 10:54Back on track one time, one time it kicks off with Hogan wearing
- 10:57it and then it it. Then Andre gets it.
- 11:00He sells it. You can't sell it.
- 11:02There are, I don't know if there's video, but there are
- 11:04pictures of Dibiase wearing it and I think it was at the Boston
- 11:07Garden because it was on Nessen, which is like the MSG Network
- 11:12for Boston or Prism back in the day for Boston they had Nessen
- 11:16and it says Ted Dibiase, WWF, World WWF Heavyweight Champion
- 11:20or World Wrestling Federation Champion.
- 11:22I think it was the verbiage they used.
- 11:23He had it, but he's never credited as being a.
- 11:25No, no, it's one of those unofficial reigns because it
- 11:29was. It got Dusty finished where they
- 11:30said you can't. Because in modern time, if you
- 11:34look at people who've held, like me, just doing research on this
- 11:38and the people who held this title and people who grew credit
- 11:40for holding this title, Dibiase does not get credit, but Kevin
- 11:44Owens does. Well, he, well, he didn't really
- 11:48hold the title. But they credit him as being a
- 11:51title holder because he's he like he 'cause he walks around.
- 11:54I don't think it's official. I'm saying the the Internet lure
- 11:58Credit credits him for being a person who.
- 12:00Yeah, well, that being said, the Internet lure can credit
- 12:02Dibiase, too. The Internet lure can credit me.
- 12:05I was never the champion. So there's been official lineage
- 12:08in neither. Well, no.
- 12:10Kevin Owens was never the WWE Champion.
- 12:11No, he was not. He was.
- 12:12He was even the champion. It was universal champion, but.
- 12:15And it was actually vacated. Do you know where the?
- 12:19WWF title after Dibiase a few times.
- 12:24You know what location it was vacated.
- 12:27No. It was vacated on Superstars of
- 12:29Wrestling in February 13th, 1988 in Hershey.
- 12:33Pennsylvania, Oh yeah. They they would do a lot of
- 12:35tapings in Hershey, Hershey, Indianapolis.
- 12:38I think Indianapolis is where the Hogan Andre match happened.
- 12:40Yeah, I just get excited when stuff happens in Pennsylvania.
- 12:43Yeah, Hershey would, Hershey would.
- 12:45Well, I mean, obviously if you go back farther, Hamburg and
- 12:48Allentown have pretty much all the TV tapings, but that that
- 12:51got kind of cut out around 8586. So, yeah, at this point, I yeah,
- 12:57I wasn't, I didn't know it was been Hershey, but Jack honey, it
- 12:59was probably in a video. Jack honey, I declare the the
- 13:01championship vacant so Jack Tony would.
- 13:04Be very, very upset with you. He shouldn't be.
- 13:07Jack Tony should be or Randy Savage should be very happy with
- 13:10Jack Tony for that. Was the one promo where he says
- 13:12he goes. I'm very, very upset with you,
- 13:14Jack. Tony.
- 13:15Hill as or as Bobby Heenan would call him, Jack on the take.
- 13:18Tony. Yeah, so.
- 13:20And and to me still, even though he was very wooden, he didn't
- 13:25really get involved a lot. But he was the gold standard of
- 13:27authority figures for to me because he didn't.
- 13:30You saw Jack Tunney 3 * a year and it was important every time
- 13:33you did it was to make some kind of proclaim.
- 13:35It was like the King coming down to make his proclamation.
- 13:38They should have somebody should have came from Jack Tunney's
- 13:41office with stone tablets. It was like when it was like
- 13:44when Moses came down from the mountain when Jack Tunney
- 13:47talked. But he, he in fact, he has a
- 13:50rare and back then you only really saw him at events like in
- 13:54person and not on the pre tape because he probably didn't want
- 13:56to leave Canada, probably don't want to leave his cushy job
- 13:59where he got a percentage of the gate for all the events in
- 14:02Toronto for doing nothing and that and the whatever he got
- 14:06paid for being the figurehead president of the WWF.
- 14:09He was at WrestleMania 4. Because what happens is Jack,
- 14:12Tony rules. Hulk Hogan is not the champion.
- 14:15He lost the match. Andre the Giant is not the
- 14:17champion. He he surrendered the title.
- 14:20Ted Dibiase is not the champion. You cannot buy the title.
- 14:22You can only win it by Penn Faller's submission.
- 14:25So we are going to have a tournament at WrestleMania 4A14
- 14:29man tournament to determine the new WWF champion.
- 14:33Hogan and Andre get a buy in the second round because they were
- 14:36the last two official champions. And there's always been a lot of
- 14:40lore behind this that there was always stories.
- 14:43I don't know how true they are or how untrue they are that
- 14:46Dibiase was originally supposed to win that tournament at
- 14:49WrestleMania 4. Macho Man was the the thing.
- 14:52The urban legend you always hear is Macho Man was supposed to be
- 14:55Honky Tonk man for the Intercontinental title at
- 14:58WrestleMania and or at some point prior to that or just
- 15:03after that. And that Dibiase was supposed to
- 15:06win the title and either lose it to Savage at SummerSlam or lose
- 15:09it back to Hogan at SummerSlam. But then it depends on the story
- 15:13you believe. Either the Honky Tonk Man
- 15:16threatened to leave and go to the N.W.A and not drop the title
- 15:19unless he was able to keep it for a little bit longer.
- 15:22There's also a story about they were, that was around the time
- 15:26they were thinking we, they were going to get Ric Flair.
- 15:28If you wonder, one of our what ifs we did way back when was Ric
- 15:31Flair coming to the WWF. That was, this was around one of
- 15:35those times where there was talk that Ric Flair is going to come
- 15:37to the WWF and at SummerSlam night, the first SummerSlam,
- 15:40it's going to be Randy Savage against, against Ric Flair.
- 15:43Obviously that didn't happen and well, we got it.
- 15:47We got it a few years later and it was very, very good.
- 15:50It was very, very good. So whatever the machinations
- 15:54are, Randy Savage wins the title at WrestleMania 4, and this is
- 15:59back when they would book so far out ahead that we already know
- 16:01when he's going to lose it. Yeah.
- 16:02Is is Hogan? Is Hogan still?
- 16:04Is he doing movies at this time? Is this why they're they put the
- 16:06ball? Yeah.
- 16:07So yeah, So Savage is one of the title because in 1988, Hogan's
- 16:12going to take a few months off to go film the whole spark, and
- 16:15he's going to make a few appearances.
- 16:17He's going to wrestle with some of the big shows.
- 16:20He wrestled at SummerSlam, He wrestled here and there.
- 16:23They did an injury angle in the around like September or October
- 16:27with the big boss man and he was out for a while there.
- 16:30But yeah, this really was to to kind of write Hogan off a little
- 16:34bit because he's going to make no holds part WWS making a
- 16:37movie. And so Savage gets the ball here
- 16:41and and and you know, box office did go down and Hogan was a draw
- 16:45at this point. Hogan was synonymous with
- 16:47professional wrestling. He was the guy.
- 16:50And so Savage did a few house show runs with Dibiase.
- 16:53In fact, the first wrestling show I ever saw I think was in
- 16:55like August or September of 1988, five years old.
- 16:59The main event of it was Savage defending that winged eagle
- 17:01against Dibiase in a cage. And then he, I think he had a
- 17:04house show program with Bad News Brown after a few loops with DB
- 17:08Aussie. And then at that point, it's
- 17:10time to start turning Savage heel because the plan all along
- 17:14was about the holster heaven. Lust in his eyes for Elizabeth.
- 17:17Yeah. And real, just that kind of
- 17:21recap. So before Hogan wins this title
- 17:23and he and he's crowned as that champion, he's on a 1474 day run
- 17:30with the with the World Heavyweight champ with the WWF
- 17:32World Heavyweight Championship after beating the Iron Sheik and
- 17:37it getting converted from the National Wrestling Alliance,
- 17:40World Wrestling Federation. Championship, it was never
- 17:43called that. Yeah, but the I mean the when
- 17:45the title kind of changed. Yeah, it was technically WWF.
- 17:50Yeah, it was WWF at that point 'cause I think WWWF went away in
- 17:54like 798081, but they withdrew from the N.W.A in 1983.
- 17:59So I believe when they officially withdrew from the
- 18:02N.W.A, Bob Backlund was still the champion.
- 18:05And it was, it definitely was a different title.
- 18:07It was the big. It's the one you'll see a lot in
- 18:10older things, as the one Hogan originally won was the big green
- 18:12one. The green.
- 18:13And the green? Title.
- 18:14It almost looked like the 24/7 title that they had for a little
- 18:16bit, except the strap was a lot wider because it plates on it
- 18:19with the names of former champions.
- 18:21But Backlund loses out to Chic and then Chic as a transition
- 18:24champion loses at the Hogan in early 84.
- 18:26But at that point, WWF is already they they had a seat on
- 18:29the board, but they never really acknowledged the N.W.A champion.
- 18:32And they weren't called like N.W.A Worldwide Wrestling
- 18:34Federation or anything like that.
- 18:36But there was enough respect for Vince and J McMahon, Vince's
- 18:39Vince McMahon's father that he he maintained a seat on the
- 18:42N.W.A board. He had a vote on the champion
- 18:44there. There were, you know, a lot of
- 18:47things that that they come into play.
- 18:51So Andre holds it for less than a day because he wins it.
- 18:55About two minutes. Yeah.
- 18:56And then immediately hands it over to W Dibiase, who on paper
- 19:00has it for 8 days. Then it gets vacated.
- 19:03And then Savage, when he we just talked about it, goes on a 371
- 19:06day reign and then Hulk Hogan takes it back for 364 days.
- 19:10At WrestleMania 5, Hogan, Hogan wins that back.
- 19:15A lot of people will maintain like they could have gotten some
- 19:17more mileage out of that. They could have had Savage win
- 19:20that by some kind of cheating or Hogan wins by DQ and run it back
- 19:25at SummerSlam. And it would have done better
- 19:27than Hogan and beefcake against Savage and Zeus.
- 19:29But I guess at that point they got a movie to run.
- 19:31They got a movie to promote, and so they want to really use Zeus
- 19:34for it. But yeah, that Hogan reign at
- 19:36that point. Hogan does a run with Savage.
- 19:39In fact, they were going to have a match because Savage becomes
- 19:42the Macho King. They were going to have a match
- 19:45for another one of those, the main event specials where it was
- 19:48going to be Hogan against Macho Man with Mike Tyson as the
- 19:52referee. But a few weeks or a few months
- 19:56before that happens, Mike Tyson is knocked out by James Buster
- 20:00Douglas in Tokyo. So they quick make a deal to
- 20:03have Buster Douglas be the referee and strike while the
- 20:07iron's hot there. And yeah, but there was talk
- 20:11about like, oh, they might want to do Hulk Hogan and Zeus at
- 20:13WrestleMania. I don't think that was going to
- 20:15happen. The whole bar was a flop.
- 20:16And Zeus was kind of written off in the end of 1989.
- 20:20So at some point it becomes pretty clear that the match
- 20:22they're going to do in 1990, the rare babyface versus babyface,
- 20:26the ultimate challenge, it's going to be Hulk Hogan and The
- 20:29Ultimate Warrior. Yeah, go looking at that now.
- 20:34Are you a fan of that match? Yes, I haven't seen them in a
- 20:36long time, but it's one of it's it's the probably second best
- 20:39match The Ultimate Warrior ever had.
- 20:41It's very, it's very produced, it's very choreographed, but it
- 20:46was the best they could have done.
- 20:47And Hulk Hogan, for all the slings and arrows he takes, was
- 20:50a is a better worker than he ever got credit for, especially.
- 20:53I would agree with that. He's he's not, he's not like,
- 20:56like here's the problem. I think people have in their
- 20:58head what a good professional wrestler is.
- 21:01And and that's kind of vague because everyone has their own
- 21:04style. Everyone has their own take.
- 21:06Some people lean into four or five moves.
- 21:08Some people can chain wrestle. Some people are good at high
- 21:10flying. And Hogan did a lot of that in
- 21:12Japan. Yeah, You could be a luchador
- 21:14style. You could be strong style.
- 21:15Like there's a so many different ice cream flavors of a wrestler
- 21:18you can be. And and Hogan was good at being
- 21:21Hogan. Like it was kind of a hard
- 21:24person to have a bad match with if unless he didn't want to give
- 21:28you a good match. Or, or I mean, I, I think what a
- 21:32lot of people really disliked, especially at that time was how
- 21:36formulaic Hogan's matches are. But then so are Ric Flair's.
- 21:38Ric Flair's matches were not that.
- 21:40I mean, not that's a completely different topic for completely
- 21:43different show. But that was Bret Hart's big,
- 21:45big criticism of Ric Flair was he had the same match every
- 21:48night. Hogan kind of did too at this
- 21:50point because they had a formula and it worked.
- 21:52Hogan, it's a lot of heat. Hogan gets beat to death for
- 21:58most of the match. Does his Superman comeback at
- 22:01the end, Hulks up, couple of punches, blocks a punch, couple
- 22:04of punches, big boot, body slam. If you're fat, leg drop 123,
- 22:09it's over. And if you didn't like that
- 22:12formula, you probably didn't like Hulk Hogan matches at the
- 22:15time. And that's understandable.
- 22:17And what I but I thought that the Hogan Warrior match was
- 22:21really well laid out. I haven't watched it in years,
- 22:24but it was one, it was the first Wrestleman I ever saw live.
- 22:26It was like the second pay-per-view I ever saw live and
- 22:29I was rooting for the Lawyer, so I was very happy that night.
- 22:31First time we're going to have world champion too, where the
- 22:34World championship and the Intercontinental champion are
- 22:36held by the same guy. Not for long because they made
- 22:38him vacate the IC title. Yeah, but then like immediately,
- 22:41well, we're seeing that the the devil champ, like the visual of
- 22:44him holding both. Titles, I want to say the only
- 22:46time I don't think anybody ever had both of those titles I at
- 22:50the same time after that. You might be right.
- 22:53You might be right. The closest I think is when they
- 22:56started, when Triple H was handed the World Heavyweight
- 22:58title. When they initially did, the
- 22:59roster split. They absorbed all the other
- 23:01titles into that. They had a match.
- 23:03It was for the Intercontinental title.
- 23:05What was the Inter? It was Kane and Triple H, and
- 23:06Kane was Intercontinental champion.
- 23:08It was like we're getting rid of the Intercontinental title,
- 23:10whoever wins this match as the world champion.
- 23:12I I will say that without using the IC, I mean, so a bunch of
- 23:17people have held the world championship and the tag team.
- 23:19Championship. Oh yeah, even before that Bruno,
- 23:21I believe Bruno did. I think Sean.
- 23:23Had Sean had the European and the world heavyweight?
- 23:26Championship. Yeah, that was the infamous when
- 23:29he changed the finish on Davey Boy after he dedicated the match
- 23:32to his dying sister. Fuck him, right?
- 23:34No. Yeah, just a visual of the
- 23:38Warrior match too. That I that I always get excited
- 23:40and even today when I watch wrestling, that I always say
- 23:43like, oh, when someone has face paint and they go through war
- 23:45and the the paint's worn off and like the Warriors pretty much
- 23:48completely unmasked or unpainted and he's just holding up two
- 23:52titles is a good visual. And this was like a a change in
- 23:56the guard passing the torch moment.
- 23:58It's like Hogan's not really leaving, but he's going to make
- 24:01Suburban Commando now, like shortly after this they do
- 24:03another injury angle or earthquake puts him on the shelf
- 24:06because he's going to film Suburban Commando.
- 24:07It's like, all right, well, Hogan's it was kind of like when
- 24:10Roman Reigns was becoming the man and John Cena would come in
- 24:13every now and then or like Roman Reigns now when Cody Rhodes is
- 24:16the man, but Roman Reigns is going to come in and make some
- 24:19appearances too. So he was, you have your number
- 24:23one babyface and then your number one babyface emeritus.
- 24:26And and this was Hogan kind of sliding to that role that Bruno
- 24:30kind of had during Hogan's run where and Backlund's run even
- 24:34where. OK, yeah, we have this new guy
- 24:36we're we're building the company around, but we have our elder
- 24:39statesman babyface, who you calling an elder brother that is
- 24:42going to she was like 40 at the time.
- 24:47We have this elder babyface who was going to, you know, be there
- 24:50too and have and be an attraction.
- 24:52Except the Warrior didn't do too well box office wise.
- 24:55He had a run with Rick Rude. But even it's SummerSlam,
- 24:58SummerSlam 90. It's a double main event.
- 25:01It's Hogan and Earthquake and Rude and Warrior and Ruden.
- 25:03Warrior goes on last, but there's noticeably more crowd
- 25:06reaction for Hogan and Earthquake.
- 25:07So it's like I like Ruden. I like Ruden Warriors story, I
- 25:11thought. Yeah, well, mostly because I
- 25:13love how Rude sold it as the bad guy.
- 25:16Right, but I would have loved Rick a Rick Rude World
- 25:18Heavyweight Championship. Run Yeah.
- 25:19Well, back back in the day, like you didn't, the belt wasn't
- 25:24passed around like candy like it is now.
- 25:26Well, now it's not so much. But for a while it was like, you
- 25:28get to the Attitude Era, forget it.
- 25:30But for a while it was like past.
- 25:31And even now, like there's so many titles, there's like two
- 25:33different world champions and, you know, AW, half the roster's
- 25:37a champion. So it's back then it was like,
- 25:40OK, if you're world champion, you're Intercontinental champion
- 25:42and your tag champions and that world title was very protected.
- 25:47Guys like Roddy Piper never won it.
- 25:48Guys like Dibiase, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, never.
- 25:52Especially if you were a heel. If you were a heel, you're
- 25:55probably going to be a transitional champion literally
- 25:58until a guy we're going to talk about in a second here there was
- 26:01before a guy we're going to talk about in a minute or two here.
- 26:05The only long term heel champion was superstar Billy Graham and
- 26:07he got a baby face reaction from a lot of people so.
- 26:11So Warriors gonna hold her for 293 days and then our next guy
- 26:14is gonna hold her for 64 days? Speaking of transitional
- 26:18champions, yeah, and here it is the.
- 26:20Sarge. I I get why Sarge wins storyline
- 26:25wise. Well, do you?
- 26:26Know according to Bruce Prichard, what the original plan
- 26:28was. And I don't know if this is true
- 26:29or I I guess it's true. We had no reason to lie about
- 26:31this. But he said because, and like
- 26:35you would always have Hulk Hogan's buddy who would turn on
- 26:37him, Randy Savage, Paul Lorndorf, They were a bunch of
- 26:40them. So at this point, Hogan's new
- 26:42buddy was Tugboat, whose gimmick was he was a Tugboat.
- 26:47He wore a sailor hat and a sailor outfit.
- 26:49And you go. But there's a lot of what Bruce
- 26:54Prichard has said is WrestleMania 7 the original
- 26:56idea? Because they knew there was this
- 26:58conflict in the Middle East. They knew when they wanted to to
- 27:00bank on that. But it was going to be Hulk
- 27:02Hogan against the evil chic Tugboat, which I don't know if
- 27:08that would have worked. That guy, that guy is probably
- 27:12second in the running for gimmicks.
- 27:14Would you say he's up there? He has a lot.
- 27:18Tugboat had a lot of games. Mainstream not really he had I
- 27:22mean if you if you want to count like big steel man in Florida,
- 27:26maybe we. Had tugboat typhoon shock shock
- 27:29master? Didn't he have another one in
- 27:31there too? Well, it was super shock Master,
- 27:33but it was still Shock Master, Yeah.
- 27:36Tugboat and Typhoon were kind of the same guy, just a different.
- 27:39Yeah, yeah, it was mean. It was evil.
- 27:41Tugboat. He was Tugboat.
- 27:42But I'm a bad guy now. I loved earthquake and typhoon.
- 27:45Lots of disasters were great. They were awesome, but I don't
- 27:49think Chic Tugboat would have worked.
- 27:50No, I don't know. No, like, but yeah, he's had a
- 27:53few gimmicks, but he's not like Brutus, Beef Hicker or Repo Man.
- 27:57He might be the one of the guys too that I've met in person that
- 28:01like generally was I was taken back by his demeanor and the way
- 28:05he carries himself and the way he talks like he was kind of a
- 28:09nerd, like he's a nice. Smoking Man Yeah, he's a very
- 28:12sweet. He's a big sweetheart.
- 28:14Like he's I got meeting him, I was like, yo, you were the
- 28:16natural disasters. And he's just like, yeah, I had
- 28:19a lot of like, he kind of had like a real soft yeah.
- 28:22They say earthquake was like that too.
- 28:23He was very reserved, very humble, very soft spoken as
- 28:26well. Yeah.
- 28:27So CSO Slaughter, Sergeant Slaughter comes back, does the
- 28:32Iraqi sympathizer gimmick, turns his back on the United States.
- 28:36He has his curly boots and he says we're a personal gift from
- 28:39Saddam Hussein. They act like he's going to burn
- 28:42an American flag, but he burns Hulk Hogan shirt instead.
- 28:45And this didn't really get over it.
- 28:49It it, it did to a degree, but and, and wrestling was cooling
- 28:52off as a whole and and the steroid scandal was starting to
- 28:55peek through and, and that golden era is really going to a
- 28:58close. I was trying to think of this
- 28:59when I came in because this title really bridges the the
- 29:02golden era to the attitude era and everything in between, which
- 29:05is the new generation. So I'm thinking like, when did
- 29:07the golden era end? Is it WrestleMania 5 or
- 29:09WrestleMania 6? Hogan Warrior, Because that's
- 29:11when it peaked. Like the attitude era peaks at
- 29:13WrestleMania 17. I think the goal there are peaks
- 29:16at WrestleMania 6 with Hogan and Warrior.
- 29:18You could argue peaks at WrestleMania 3 but it still goes
- 29:20on for a while after that. But it's definitely over.
- 29:23I think when when Slaughter beats Warrior.
- 29:25Yeah, I would. For me, what I would consider
- 29:30new generation, this is all like very vague for me is I would say
- 29:37maybe going from flair to Savage to flair to Hart.
- 29:43I think it's, I think the new generation kicks off when you go
- 29:45from Flair to Brett. Actually, I take, I'm gonna, I'm
- 29:49gonna, I'm gonna walk that back. I think it officially begins
- 29:52when Hulk Hogan leaves for good. Well, at least until 2000.
- 29:55Brett brought in a different era of professional wrestling that I
- 29:58just thought changed the landscape of WWE.
- 30:01Oh yeah, yeah. I, I honestly think that this
- 30:03title in, in my opinion, I'm, I don't want to be the guy to be
- 30:06like my generation was the best generation, but like I, I truly
- 30:11feel, I feel like Brett, Brett was the guy who killed the
- 30:14giants, the Titans, all the old school guys and Brett brought in
- 30:17this new era. And then and kind of killed the
- 30:20box office tool for being honest.
- 30:21Yeah. Sure it it it did.
- 30:23That wasn't that was. That wasn't Brett's fault.
- 30:26It changed the landscape of what wrestling was going to become
- 30:29going forward. Who is drag racing near your
- 30:32house? I have no idea.
- 30:34For real quick, Brian's streets are as big as his beer can so I
- 30:37don't know how that guy got that much engine on that stretch of
- 30:40Rd. That's wild.
- 30:42But then and then Sean, Sean changed.
- 30:46He brought in the era of sports entertainment like he, you know
- 30:49what I mean? Like the the winged eagle
- 30:51between just those two guys in general.
- 30:53Hogan. Hogan, I think Hogan brought in
- 30:55the air of sports entertainment. Yeah, Hogan, I mean, but Sean
- 30:58with that new era where like that's where people be like, oh,
- 31:00you're a Sean or a Brett guy because like the styles were so
- 31:03close, but yeah, it. Became the new Hogan.
- 31:05Hogan or Savage, it became that. Yeah, but yeah, so savage.
- 31:10Sorry, Savage wins the title. We're on Sergeant Slaughter now.
- 31:14For, for. Oh, sorry, I I jumped ahead too
- 31:16much. Yeah, Sergeant Slaughter's gonna
- 31:17hold her for 64 days, and then he's going to drop it back to
- 31:22the Golden Boy here. Hulk Hogan Hulkamania rides
- 31:26again and must pose. Hogan must pose, especially when
- 31:30business is starting to dip because Warrior did not have the
- 31:33box office power. Nearly the box office power of
- 31:35Hulk Hogan scandal is starting to trickle in.
- 31:38They're starting to be like little things.
- 31:40I am not sure of the dates. I'm like the Tom the Tom Cole
- 31:43thing or the the George Slahorian thing.
- 31:45But there's knocks at the door. There's there's start.
- 31:48There's cracks in the foundation of the the mighty WWF at this
- 31:52point and to the point where WrestleMania 7 was originally
- 31:56supposed to be at the LA Memorial Coliseum, which is
- 31:58where they did the Olympics in 1984.
- 32:01It's where the Raiders played when they moved to Los Angeles.
- 32:04Huge open air stadium and they said due to security threats
- 32:07they were moving it to the LA Sports Arena, which is much
- 32:09smaller from going from like 100,000 seats to about, you
- 32:13know, 20,000. But it was poor ticket sales.
- 32:16There was poor advance ticket sales.
- 32:17That said, you know, people are threatening Sergeant Slaughter,
- 32:20so we have to move it and have tighter security.
- 32:23Now, I I think this could be answered by simply saying it's
- 32:27just pro wrestling and pro wrestling I think is treated
- 32:30differently than any other sports, any other sport and any
- 32:34other means of entertainment. If if I'm BP, if you're an actor
- 32:38and you go and you play just as I say, John Cena, Batista, name
- 32:43a a a wrestler who became an actor and also a wrestler goes
- 32:47out and plays an inherently racist character like a Leonardo
- 32:51DiCaprio, Samuel Jackson, Django style character.
- 32:54If they do it on the big screen, nobody cares with everyone
- 32:58understands it's part of the show, it's an act, it's an
- 33:01acting job. They're praised for playing this
- 33:04great racist role, but everyone kind of knows, I mean now that
- 33:09wrestling is theater. But if you go out there and
- 33:11present that character, you are done.
- 33:14Like you will get cancelled. You'll be.
- 33:16But it's a part of me like I'm torn on it.
- 33:19Like, do you want to platform that?
- 33:21No, but at the end of the day, the art, the thrill, the the bad
- 33:25guy getting his comeuppance. I, I, I don't, I don't always
- 33:29think it's a terrible idea to like, I just don't understand
- 33:32why wrestling, it kind of doesn't get that pass where they
- 33:34can just use character. Work like that because it's not
- 33:37theater. It's not theater.
- 33:38It's not a movie. It's not.
- 33:40It's not a play. It is, though.
- 33:42It's wrestling. It's different.
- 33:44All right. So you're so you're telling me
- 33:46you call every wrestler you know by their real name or do you
- 33:49call them by their gimmick name? Gimmick name.
- 33:51For the most part. All right, all right.
- 33:53So if you went up to John Travolta, would you say hi,
- 33:56Vincent Vega? No.
- 33:59So there's a difference, right? Sure, Exactly.
- 34:03But I just, I just think in the, the art form of it, I just, I, I
- 34:06think certain. I think it's just it's held to a
- 34:08different standard. It is because it's its own
- 34:10unique thing. It's not quite sports, it's not
- 34:13quite entertainment. It's wrestling.
- 34:14It's it's, it's something completely different and, and,
- 34:17and especially in 1991, the kayfabe in 1991 isn't like
- 34:21kayfabe in 1971. But it's still it's still
- 34:26something where if you're a heel and you work for the WWF in 1991
- 34:31and you see a fan at the airport, you're supposed to be
- 34:33mean to that. Yeah, that's not, that's really
- 34:37not the thing now unless you're MJF and you've you're kind of
- 34:39method acting and you are trying to be like that old.
- 34:41School. I respect that.
- 34:42I like it. Right.
- 34:44So again, it's not the same. Yeah, I don't know.
- 34:49I just think, do you think the day will overcome where they'll
- 34:52they'll loosen their reins on character, what people can do?
- 34:56I mean, it depends on the presentation.
- 34:58Like Lucha Underground got away with a lot of things that you
- 35:01would never see in WWE or AW because they set the parameter
- 35:05like this is our universe. Like, you know, people are going
- 35:07to be killed here. See, we have witches and, and
- 35:10things like that. And, and, and I and that's fine.
- 35:13Like I always talk about like goofy stuff, but have a
- 35:16consistency to your story. If you're going to be silly, be
- 35:19silly. If you're going to be realistic,
- 35:21be realistic. Don't be silly one second and
- 35:23realistic the other second and expect me to take you seriously.
- 35:26If you're a joke, see, I don't. Mind if you're a joke 20% of the
- 35:29time, you're a joke 100% of the time.
- 35:30Yeah, I I kind of like the variety show aspect of
- 35:33wrestling. Whether you have your spooky
- 35:34segment, your realistics like your comedy say, I like having
- 35:37that flavor of. Wrestling, but it but it would
- 35:40be like if you had a very serious movie and then all of a
- 35:43sudden it ghost shows up. It's like what the hell?
- 35:45What's this? It has nothing to do with
- 35:46anything else in the plot. Yeah.
- 35:48But I think each person that goes out and performs in the
- 35:51ring for their segment is a segment.
- 35:53That's how I look at it. I don't like it as an overall.
- 35:56Show. It's a show.
- 35:57Yeah, I I, I, I I do disagree on that one.
- 36:00I think it's. Like, like I said, The Muppets
- 36:01to me, it's like Fozzie goes out, cracks a joke and then
- 36:05Kermit goes out and sings a a beautiful ballad.
- 36:07You know what I mean? Like it's.
- 36:09Each each. Person that goes out and
- 36:10performs has their own little flavor they bring to the the
- 36:12table. Yeah, but I think it needs some
- 36:14kind of logical consistency, and if you don't, that's when you
- 36:17get like Vince Russo stuff. Yeah, yeah, it's a great debate.
- 36:22I love that We could go on for hours with that, but let's keep
- 36:24for the title. So Hogan's going to win this at
- 36:27at at Mania, and he's going to hold it for 248 days.
- 36:32And then here's what we talk about.
- 36:33Normally the title does not get hot potato BP.
- 36:37Well, yeah. Well, this was this was them
- 36:39trying to to to experiment with something.
- 36:42So at this point, their business is dipping and they're trying to
- 36:45think, OK, what can we do? To They brought in a new scoop
- 36:49of ice cream. Well, yeah, but it's worse.
- 36:53I'm not talking about the guy he loses it to.
- 36:55I'm talking about why he lost it and why it was flipped so
- 36:58quickly so well, he lost. It to the almost broke his neck.
- 37:03No, he didn't. He got me, brother.
- 37:06So Hulk Hogan loses it to The Undertaker, who is fairly new at
- 37:09this point. The Undertaker's been around for
- 37:12about a year. Yeah, he debuted, debuted
- 37:14Survivor Series in 1990. He he wins the title, that's
- 37:18Survivor Series in 1991. But WWE is struggling in 1991.
- 37:22Businesses is dipping. They're not as bulletproof of as
- 37:26they've been for the last 8-7 years as Hulkamania and Rock and
- 37:31wrestling and all those waves have been ridden.
- 37:34So one of the things that we're debating to kind of reinvent
- 37:37themselves and kind of reinvent the revenue streams is we we're
- 37:40really being successful on pay-per-view.
- 37:43What if we tried weekly pay per views at a discounted price?
- 37:46What if instead of every four months you buy a pay-per-view
- 37:50for, you know, whatever it was back then, you know, $30 or no,
- 37:54I don't think it was that much like that.
- 37:55It was like $25. What if we got people to spend
- 37:59799 on the pay-per-view every week?
- 38:02So the Survivor Series in 1991 is a very unique show because
- 38:05the entire show is basically a commercial for this Tuesday in
- 38:11Texas where they have a pay-per-view Survivor Series
- 38:16either, I think it was on Thanksgiving Eve at this point.
- 38:19So that's on a Wednesday. And then six days later they're
- 38:22going to have another pay-per-view this Tuesday in
- 38:24Texas. And Macho Man had lost a loser.
- 38:27A loser must retire match to the Warrior.
- 38:29He's been reinstated by Jack Tunney, so he gets to wrestle it
- 38:32this Tuesday in Texas. And then you have the Undertaker
- 38:38beat Hulk Hogan, but Ric Flair interfered.
- 38:39So we're going to have a rematch and it's going to be Hulk Hogan
- 38:42and the Undertaker again at this Tuesday in Texas.
- 38:45So they're building really up to Tuesday in Texas.
- 38:49And it it flopped and they never tried it again.
- 38:51And weekly pay per views weren't everything again until the very
- 38:53beginning of TNA because that was how TNA started.
- 38:56Should make a Tuesday in Texas spoof shirt.
- 38:59I'll look at the logo for right now.
- 39:02Yikes. It it was it, it was a it was an
- 39:06idea that didn't work, and it was baseball.
- 39:10Court, though, according to. Yeah, I but how many people, how
- 39:14many people bought on pay-per-view is the question.
- 39:16Probably not enough. And I wonder how much.
- 39:20I don't think they were really working with Jerry Jarrett at
- 39:22this point, but Jerry Jarrett was the driving force for NWATNA
- 39:25and Jeff Jarrett for doing weekly pay per views as their
- 39:28magical thing. And it was all based on.
- 39:30Well, Memphis was a weekly, not on pay-per-view.
- 39:35Yeah, a lot of those. 9 dark matches.
- 39:37If I'm remembering and this yes, 'cause I'm thinking the actual
- 39:41pay-per-view was like Bret Hart and Skinner, it was DB or it was
- 39:46Savage and Jake Hogan and Undertaker, I think Virgil and
- 39:51like Texas Tornado against Dibiase and Repo Man or
- 39:54something like that. Repo Man.
- 39:56Dibiase with sensational Sherry. Beat it.
- 39:58El Matador and Virgil. Oh, El Matador.
- 40:01OK, Yeah. Yeah, 'cause that's that's the
- 40:03dibiase got. The warlord heartbeat.
- 40:08And Skinner, Yeah. Blair beats Piper in a dark
- 40:11match which they went 14 minute a 14 1/2 minutes.
- 40:16Flair and Piper. I actually would like to watch
- 40:18that match. Legion of Doom, Hawk and Animal
- 40:21are going to beat the The Natural Disasters.
- 40:24Legion of Doom wrestle twice that night I guess.
- 40:29So according to this Legion of Doom, Hawk and Animal defeat the
- 40:33Rockers in 12 minutes and 58 seconds.
- 40:37Oh, immediately next match to take on the National Disasters
- 40:41for another 10 minutes and 26 seconds.
- 40:43That's a lot of the road Warriors that that's a lot of I,
- 40:46I'm, they're my favorite tag team of all time, but that's a
- 40:47lot of Rd. Warriors.
- 40:49I believe three. They go 3 tag team matches in a
- 40:52row. They go Nasty Boys versus the
- 40:55Bushwhackers. Then they do the Legion of Doom
- 40:57two matches in a row I believe. Sorry, go ahead.
- 41:01I believe I I want to say that Rockers OOD match was a
- 41:04Colosseum video match. I think they taped that for
- 41:06Colosseum video, 'cause I think I remember seeing that match.
- 41:09Yeah, and you gotta. Remember, we'll start from the
- 41:11beginning. The Harris brothers are gonna
- 41:12take which is Ron Don are gonna take on Brad Castillo and Brian
- 41:19Don Donchet or Don Donahue. Donahue.
- 41:22I'm terrible at names. Sir Charles, which we all would
- 41:28know. Come up, go become somebody
- 41:29else. Dale Wolf, Sir Charles becomes
- 41:33Charles Wright and then The Godfather, and oh is that?
- 41:37Big Papashongo. Yeah, yeah, I just.
- 41:39Yeah, but he he wrestled us. Sure, Charles on this show,
- 41:42Chris Walker takes on Brian Lee, which which these these names
- 41:47are wild. Chris.
- 41:49Chris Chavez. Well, no, you're not.
- 41:51Brian Lee is, I'm assuming, Tatonka.
- 41:54Brian Lee, I'm going to assume is primetime Brian Lee.
- 41:57Who was the fake undertaker in chains?
- 41:59Yeah, Chains and Chris Walker was the guy who was around.
- 42:02He was like a guy got a little bit of a push at this time.
- 42:05Yeah, but and then JJW Storm, well, I'm just saying back in
- 42:10the day for WWE, the guys to come out and have a match where
- 42:12Sir Charles versus Dale Wolf, Chris Walker versus Brian Lee,
- 42:15Chris Chavis versus JW Storm, like it just not WWE at that
- 42:19time. Like you're the trash, man, are
- 42:20you? Like you know what I mean?
- 42:22Well, they would do these. They would do these before a lot
- 42:25of tapings and a lot of shows like this, especially if it was
- 42:28the shorter show where this was like a mini pay-per-view was
- 42:30like 2 hours. It was to get looks of guys that
- 42:33were interested in. They would do it.
- 42:34They would, they would do a lot of dark matches like this like
- 42:37Dwayne Gill and Barry Hardy were the toxic turtles around this
- 42:40time and did a Ninja Turtles gimmick.
- 42:41They would, they would test people out and they did that
- 42:43forever, right. One of the even all the way up
- 42:46to in the like 1998. I, I remember going to a, a
- 42:50Sunday night heat taping because it was the only way to get a
- 42:53voucher to send away for WrestleMania 15 tickets.
- 42:56And before the Sunday night heat taping, it was Andrew Martin in
- 43:00a squash match for like weeks before he became test.
- 43:04They just did that. The test guys out make sure
- 43:05they're ready for prime time. They, they would do a lot of
- 43:08like house show matches and then they would do TV tapings just to
- 43:12kind of see what they look like under the lights and everything.
- 43:14So that's what they were. They were getting a look at the
- 43:15Tonka. They were getting a look at the
- 43:17the Harris brothers. They were getting a look at
- 43:19Brian Lee. They were getting a look at at
- 43:22at. Sir Charles.
- 43:24Sir Charles, Yeah. Papa Shongo.
- 43:25Yeah. And that LOD Rockers match, that
- 43:29LOD Rockers match, they are also right there.
- 43:33They are still planting the seeds for Shawn Michaels turning
- 43:35heel. Every match the Rockers would
- 43:37lose, and then they would argue. That was like the formula of
- 43:39every match. Yeah, so Undertaker is going to
- 43:43lose the title after six days to Hogan, who's going to hold it on
- 43:46paper for one day because. Here comes Jack Tunney again.
- 43:50Yeah, Jack, Tony's going to strip the title and it's going
- 43:53to air on December 7th and the, the the the show happened the
- 43:56December 3rd and then we're going to have the greatest Royal
- 44:02Rumble of all time. Yeah, not, not the not the one
- 44:05in Saudi Arabia, the first one, I guess in Saudi Arabia, the
- 44:08actual greatest Royal Rumble. And yeah, so it's it's similar
- 44:11to WrestleMania 4, where the title is vacated because Flair
- 44:13gets involved again and Hogan takes ashes from the urn and
- 44:17throws them in Undertaker's face.
- 44:18And it's all a screwy finish. So the title is held up.
- 44:22And the the rub here, where Hogan and Andre got buys in that
- 44:25tournament, the rub here is that Undertaker and Hogan are
- 44:29guaranteed that their Royal Rumble draw is going to be 20 or
- 44:33later. So that's their advantage in the
- 44:35Royal Rumble because they were the two previous champions.
- 44:38But how many rumbles are we in at this point in in 90?
- 44:41There was the one that was on USA Network which was 88.
- 44:45I mean it's what far as televised ones?
- 44:47And that was the 5th rumble. Well, 5th or 4th?
- 44:514th you had 8889. You had, you had the one stud
- 44:54one. No, no, this is the fifth.
- 44:56You had the stud, the one Duggan one on TV.
- 45:00Stud wins in eight in 89. Hogan wins in 919091.
- 45:04So this is the fifth and Hogan is coming and having won two in
- 45:07a row, but not tonight because coming in at #3 is the nature
- 45:14boy. Ric Flair is going to pretty
- 45:15much run the table, Bobby Heenan is going to give the performance
- 45:19of a lifetime on commentary going through the five stages of
- 45:22grief, and Ric Flair is going to be your your WWF Champion.
- 45:28He holds it for 77 days. And it's wild because at this
- 45:31point in time, I'm not watching Flair matches.
- 45:34I'm just seeing Flair in the magazines.
- 45:37I'm seeing every now and then maybe a clip of Ric Flair
- 45:39cutting a promo of that old backdrop where he's standing
- 45:42there and he's holding the title, you know, doing the whole
- 45:45and now is. His manager?
- 45:47Yep. And now he's holding the WWF
- 45:50Championship. That's the holy shit.
- 45:52He is the real world champion now, isn't he?
- 45:55Yeah. And and initially they say that
- 45:58he's going to wrestle Hulk Hogan to WrestleMania, WrestleMania 8.
- 46:01But then Sid Justice turns on Hogan and Hogan once said he
- 46:05doesn't want the title he wants to get even with Sid Justice.
- 46:08So then Macho Man Randy Savage gets his title shot and and
- 46:13Flair and Savage were made for each other.
- 46:16They are such a natural pairing. They whenever those two got
- 46:19together they made Magic and and WrestleMania.
- 46:22WrestleMania 8 was no different, where Miss Elizabeth comes out
- 46:26because Flair had alleged that he had pictures of Elizabeth and
- 46:30he was going to put her up on the Jumbotron wearing nothing
- 46:32but a staple. And they said they had taken
- 46:35some like, pictures of her and like, swim like very revealing
- 46:38swimwear and staff. Just like, we're not going to do
- 46:40it, OK? Not going to happen.
- 46:44Well, this was redone on the indie circuit.
- 46:46GCW plays into this story maybe a couple years ago with Cardona,
- 46:52Janella and Chelsea Green, where Janella had photos of Chelsea
- 46:56well. No, that, that's after Savage
- 46:58wins the title. Savage wins the title at
- 47:00WrestleMania 8. And then and then afterwards,
- 47:04Flair's going to push Savage's buttons.
- 47:06And he says Elizabeth was mine before she was yours.
- 47:10And yeah, she has these pictures of, of her and Ric Flair and
- 47:14Elizabeth, like sitting at the poolside or sitting on their
- 47:17table watching, you know, wrestling on TV.
- 47:20And yeah, they, they, they, they, they, what they said was,
- 47:22and they actually did it because then they show the real
- 47:24pictures. They said that it was something
- 47:27called SI texting. It was this.
- 47:29It was basically Photoshopped before there was Photoshop.
- 47:31And then basically Ric Flair put his head over Randy Savage's
- 47:35body and they show the real pictures that are the exact
- 47:38same, but it's Randy Savage and Elizabeth.
- 47:40And then yeah, GCW doesn't where they just had Joey Janelle and
- 47:43Chelsea Green actually take the pictures.
- 47:45Yeah, so Ric Flair's gonna hold her for 77 days, then go to
- 47:49Savage for 149, and then we go back to Ric Flair in Primetime
- 47:55Wrestling in Hershey, PA. A match that a match that Vince
- 48:00McMahon made go back out because he hated the original 1.
- 48:04Really. Yeah, he had him go back out.
- 48:07So yeah, I'm not sure what they what they what the plan was with
- 48:10the Savage thing here. I know that the rumor has it
- 48:12because part of Savage is run as WrestleMania, SummerSlam 92 in
- 48:16England. And it's it's Savage and the
- 48:18Warrior. They're both baby faces.
- 48:20But Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect are saying that we've made a
- 48:23deal with one of these guys and one of them is going to be
- 48:25joining the dark side. Basically, one of them is going
- 48:27to come in a bag guy. And there's a rumor, and I don't
- 48:30know if this is urban legend or not, that that they had
- 48:31convinced Warrior to turn heel and that Warrior was going to
- 48:36turn heel and be a heel champion with Mr. Perfect as his manager.
- 48:39But Warrior got cold feet at the last second and they didn't pull
- 48:41a trigger. And it was like, oh, Ric Flair
- 48:43and Perfect just say that to mess with them.
- 48:45The match winds up a double DQ and like 3 or 4 weeks later,
- 48:50Flair beat Savage for the title again.
- 48:53And so this is at the point where the steroid scandal is
- 48:58really on fire. 1992 is when I, I believe when Vista Bank gets
- 49:04indicted. If not, it was very shortly
- 49:06after this. He's rocking the next race at
- 49:07this point. In time, yes, well, that was
- 49:10more 93 I think. But yeah, so he is, he is
- 49:16basically giving everybody drug tests and you got to get off of
- 49:19the stuff. And so they're going smaller
- 49:22now. And I mean, Savage had thinned
- 49:24out considerably at this point. He was off of whatever he was
- 49:26on. He he was wearing like the top,
- 49:28the sleeveless top and the ring. Now.
- 49:29He wasn't really wrestling without a shirt anymore.
- 49:32And, and Flair, Flair and Vince had this deal where like it was,
- 49:39you know, I'm coming on a handshake and if I'm ever not
- 49:41happy with my spot, I can just tell you Vince and I can go.
- 49:45And they wanted to put Flair down the card because Vince has
- 49:47it in his head. We're going with smaller guys,
- 49:49We're going with the younger guys.
- 49:51And that there there was always the rumor that Bob Backlund was
- 49:56going to be earmarked for the world title when he came in.
- 49:59But what they say is that they looked at all the fan mail,
- 50:02especially internationally, that Bret Hart was getting and they
- 50:05were like, well, Bret Hart is so popular, we should put the title
- 50:07on him. That's exactly what they do on
- 50:10Canadian Thanksgiving I believe October 13th 1992 in Saskatoon.
- 50:17It's in Saskatoon SK Saskatchewan.
- 50:21This one I believe was also taped for Coliseum Video.
- 50:24I think the only place you could actually see the match was on
- 50:26Coliseum Video. Bret Hart wins the WWF title.
- 50:29And I don't think I've ever seen this match.
- 50:31I I have it's it's not amazing. Bret and Flair were like oil and
- 50:36water, but they they personally and professionally.
- 50:40But the better match is from Survivor Series for that year
- 50:46because it's supposed to be Shawn like Michaels defending
- 50:48the Intercontinental Title against Bret Hart, but instead
- 50:51it's going to be Bret Hart defending the WWEF Championship
- 50:54against Shawn Michaels. Even though Shawn's
- 50:55Intercontinental Champion, that title's not on the line.
- 50:57Shawn's belt is not on the line, but Brett beats Shawn at
- 51:00Survivor Series and that match is very good.
- 51:03Yeah, well, this, this is for me, BP is going to lead into, in
- 51:09my opinion, one of the coolest at I still, it still has a spot
- 51:15in my heart. I know it's not a great show,
- 51:17but it's the course of the WrestleMania.
- 51:19It's I love the way it looked. I love the arena.
- 51:22I love the the the the pillars, the filigree.
- 51:25The parking lot. The parking lot in Vegas.
- 51:27I loved it. I loved the look, I thought.
- 51:29The world. It's the world.
- 51:31It's the world's largest Taco party, pal.
- 51:34Yeah, I loved it. I loved the way it looked.
- 51:36I loved the being outdoors. I thought it was cool seeing it
- 51:39outdoors like that. I meant I So I just recently got
- 51:422K25. It was on sale for a week the
- 51:44The Dead Man edition for $35.00. So wow.
- 51:48So I picked it up and in that you get the replay, the head
- 51:53shrinkers versus Steiners, the Steiner brothers, and you
- 51:57reclaim the win for the head shrinkers over the Steiner
- 52:00brothers and that and then you unlock everybody.
- 52:02But I just playing that arena and looking at the thing, I was
- 52:05like, oh man, this, this is this is cool.
- 52:08Side note, the video game. Have you played the new 1 yet?
- 52:11No, I have not. So they added this new feature
- 52:13BP during the entrances, you can take the camera with your thumb
- 52:17stick and move it. So you can like take it and move
- 52:20it behind them and watch them walk from like a third person
- 52:23view. You can hit like four or five
- 52:25different buttons and change different camera views as like
- 52:28as the entrance. I'm like, this is kind of dope.
- 52:30Like you kind of can create your own entrance.
- 52:32You're not really stuck. But so far it's been a lot of
- 52:35fun to play. I'm playing the storyline right
- 52:37now, but it is really cool to play as Samu, you know what I
- 52:41mean? Just cause the guy's local to us
- 52:42and I think it's the first time him to being in the video game.
- 52:45I believe the head shrinkers. Yeah, there, and I actually had
- 52:49this game there. There was a game called Rage in
- 52:51the cage for the Sega CD and I believe the head shrinkers were
- 52:55in that game. Oh wow.
- 52:58Yeah, but not a great show. But for me, the look I loved, I
- 53:02love this. Although now I'm wondering if
- 53:04that was Faltu and Samu or if that was Faltu and Sione.
- 53:07Or was was it Sam? No, it was Faltu and Sione I
- 53:09believe. I believe that that barbarian
- 53:11replaced Samu. I don't know.
- 53:13I think it was Faltu and Samu. But anyway, Speaking of Samoans,
- 53:18yeah. And WrestleMania is going to get
- 53:21his first. He's.
- 53:22Going to be the first Samoan to get his well.
- 53:25Sing Championship. He's Japanese, thank you very
- 53:27much. I didn't see Mr. Fuji waving a
- 53:29Samoan flag behind him. Yeah, he's the first bloodline
- 53:33member to get to a single goal. He is, he is, and he is very
- 53:37much Samoan as well. Yokozuna is going to thanks to a
- 53:42well timed throw of salt by Mr. Fuji while Yokozuna is caught in
- 53:46a sharpshooter. Yokozuna is going to defeat Bret
- 53:48Hart for that title and how long is he going to hold it for
- 53:50about? Like 3 minutes about that, yeah.
- 53:55Because Hogan must pose. I remember watching this and I'm
- 53:59just like, as a kid, this is where like my, my, my hatred for
- 54:04Hogan cemented. It was this show because I
- 54:06remember being like, you know, Brett and Yokozuna put on a fun
- 54:10match. Like I liked it as a kid.
- 54:13Going back and watching it now wasn't the greatest I was.
- 54:15So bummed that Brett Law. I preferred Brett the Hogan, but
- 54:17I was so bummed that Brett Law. So I'm like, just get him, Hulk.
- 54:20Get him. Yeah, and then Hogan came out.
- 54:21I'm like this fucking guy. Well, let's, let's just talk.
- 54:25Not really Winged Eagle history here, but let's talk a little,
- 54:28just briefly. And if we want to do a full
- 54:30episode this on another time, there's tons of topics here.
- 54:33Anything we literally talk about, we could break into a
- 54:35full episode, which is why I love pro wrestling.
- 54:38Hogan's got a black eye on this show.
- 54:41Yeah, this was very much covered during the that making of
- 54:46WrestleMania thing or making us creating a spectacle.
- 54:49It was on Peacock. I think it's funny.
- 54:51You see, Nick Kahn, who now runs WWE, is one of the security guys
- 54:55at ringside. But yeah, Hogan comes with a
- 54:58black eye. And the story was that he said
- 55:01he had like some kind of accident on the beach.
- 55:03I don't not a parasoling accent because it was beefcake, but
- 55:06like something happened where he got hit in the eye with
- 55:08something and then the other people say Randy Savage got mad
- 55:10at them and punched them in the face.
- 55:12Yeah, a fun fact about this one too, with that documentary airs
- 55:16on that, that same documentary, they show Bret Hart coming to
- 55:20the arena and following him is Davey Boy Smith.
- 55:23And they're like, that footage isn't from that.
- 55:24Day. No, it's because Davey Boy was
- 55:26in Japan. Yeah, no, it was probably from
- 55:28like SummerSlam 94. But pro wrestler fans are nuts.
- 55:33Like, I would have watched that and just never thought anything
- 55:35of it. And they're like, no, no, no,
- 55:37that's debut. Boy.
- 55:38He's in Japan at this time. I would have never, never known.
- 55:42But Hogan is going to win after Yokozuna pins Bret Hart.
- 55:48And Bret Hart is told that. Bret Hart?
- 55:50What's that? How do they even swing this?
- 55:52Like there's not a cash in the moment.
- 55:54He just comes out and says I'm gonna.
- 55:55Hustle you. So Mr. Fuji is in the ring, Tom,
- 55:58Hulk Hogan saying my Yokozuna will take you on anytime,
- 56:00anytime. And Bret is still blinded by the
- 56:03salt. He's like, go get him, go get
- 56:04him, go get him. So they make an impromptu match
- 56:07and Hogan wins. And rightfully Mr. Fuji's like,
- 56:11well, that's not official. There was no contract.
- 56:14But Jack Tony says it counts. But Yokozuna gets a total shot
- 56:17at King of the Ring. The the line Brett was fed,
- 56:20whether it was supposed to be true or not, was that he was
- 56:23supposed to beat Hogan at Summer Slam that year.
- 56:26And instead Yokozuna is going to beat Hulk Hogan, the King of the
- 56:30Ring. And that is the last time Hulk
- 56:32Hogan wrestles for the WWF for about 8 years.
- 56:37Yeah, Do you do you think he you think he's seen that Brett was
- 56:40the guy and Yoko look larger than life and you'd rather lose
- 56:43the Yoko than Brett? I think it was more of I, I I'm
- 56:46not gonna I'm not gonna put over Brett.
- 56:47I'm gonna Yoko's fine. I'll put over the big guy.
- 56:50I just probably don't wanna put over Brett.
- 56:52Probably thought he was too small.
- 56:54It's he was, you know, he's a body guy.
- 56:57So was Vince. Do I go Brett's too small?
- 56:58I'm not gonna do it because what what does?
- 57:01What does? And I'm sure Vince was right
- 57:02there along with him. I'm not gonna throw Hogan under
- 57:04the bus with bathroom and Vince under there too, because what
- 57:08does Vince immediately do after Hulk Hogan leaves?
- 57:11Like literally 3 weeks later? He tries to make a new Hulk
- 57:14Hogan in the form of Lex Luger. He comes in on the helicopter,
- 57:18he slams Yokozuna on the the USS Intrepid on the 4th of July,
- 57:21where Mr. Fuji plays a rib on Yokozuna.
- 57:24Do you know that story? Yeah.
- 57:26So yeah, 'cause it was very hot, yeah.
- 57:29So we had the hot foot all over the ring.
- 57:31So it it was. And then we have the Lex Express
- 57:35and Lex wins by count on at SummerSlam because they're going
- 57:38to extend it to WrestleMania and we go to WrestleMania.
- 57:40We'll never got the title. We'll never got the title.
- 57:43Well, and and. This was another thing where
- 57:46like, they were still an undercurrent of no Brett.
- 57:48We, we really like Brett, like Luger's fine, whatever, but we
- 57:50really like Brett. And so they did a thing at a
- 57:55house show before WrestleMania 10.
- 57:57They're like, hey, wouldn't it be because Brett Luger and Brett
- 58:00Co win the Rumble and they do a thing where like Luger steals
- 58:03the title from Yokozuna? They were like, hey, wouldn't it
- 58:05be funny if we just visit? Hey, wouldn't it be funny if we
- 58:09just pretended Lex Luger was the champion and do a thing like
- 58:12introducing the new WWF champion, Lex Luger?
- 58:14And he comes out and they say the response was a little off
- 58:17and people are getting a little cool on Luger in the office so.
- 58:22It was it was such a different like I I love this version like
- 58:26this 9394 roster is amazing to me.
- 58:30This is this is my peak of wrestling.
- 58:32I love this point. Like you got Bam Bam in there,
- 58:35you got Yoko, you got Brett, you got Sean, you got like let you
- 58:38got Razor Diesel like I loved this era like.
- 58:41There's not, there's not a lot of defenders for the post
- 58:44steroid free attitude era. Like I like it.
- 58:47I like it. I liked it like there's.
- 58:49Something for everybody. I I I to me, watching this
- 58:53version of of WWE is kind of like watching Rainbow 2.0 NXT
- 59:00where it's not the greatest, but you can see if everyone sticks
- 59:04with it, it's something's going to come out of it.
- 59:06Though. Like I I everyone who was on a 2
- 59:09point O who sucked is now killing it in this new version
- 59:13of any like last legend was garbage.
- 59:14She's amazing now, like that women's division struggle, but
- 59:17now they're all finding themselves like.
- 59:20I'll give you a tip and I'll give you a brown breaker and
- 59:22that's all I'll give you. And Grace and Muller.
- 59:24I love grace and Muller. Go birds.
- 59:26I, I think, I think a lot of people really turned it around.
- 59:28Like I, this is the era where they kind of had to find
- 59:31themselves because all of those legends walked out the door and
- 59:34this new generation had to find themselves.
- 59:36And I liked it. I liked it a lot.
- 59:38And they're they're ace in the hole was Bret Hart because Bret
- 59:41Hart becomes what Ric Flair became the WCW where whenever
- 59:45they mess something up, whenever they put them, they back the
- 59:48wrong horse. Whenever you know, they they
- 59:50thought a guy was going to be the guy and he wasn't.
- 59:52Whenever the champion loses his smile up in case of emergency
- 59:56break the glass, here comes Brett.
- 59:58We didn't. No one lost any smiles yet.
- 1:00:00He's he's in the mid card. He's doing his thing.
- 1:00:03At this point, no. He's threatened to leave for WCW
- 1:00:05at this point, so that's what happens.
- 1:00:11Like the Lugar thing didn't work, here comes Brett.
- 1:00:13Brett's going to come in and beat Yokozuna for the title at
- 1:00:16WrestleMania 10. Hold it through the summer, have
- 1:00:19a great match with Owen Hart at SummerSlam.
- 1:00:21SummerSlam 94. Real quick too, this time, this
- 1:00:25time too is when you're getting you're in Brett Owen feud.
- 1:00:30I like that feud. You're getting Taker and
- 1:00:33Yokozuna in those in those casket matches.
- 1:00:36Well, you're also, you're also getting, you're also getting
- 1:00:38Undertaker and undertaker, which wasn't quite as.
- 1:00:40Good. As a kid though, I fucking loved
- 1:00:42it. I I get to, I do too.
- 1:00:44I can't. I was like, what?
- 1:00:45They're fucking doing them. Yeah, it's.
- 1:00:48Losing my mind. And there's that Brian Lee
- 1:00:51again. Yep, a lot more Brian Lee on the
- 1:00:53show than I thought. Yeah, so Yokozuna, we'll just
- 1:00:57kind of recap WrestleMania has it for three minutes, goes back
- 1:01:00to Hogan for the fifth time, 70 days.
- 1:01:02Back to Yokozuna for 280. Did not realize he had it that
- 1:01:05long. Then drops it back to Brett for
- 1:01:08his second run for 248 days. And then we get a little taste
- 1:01:13of the old school coming back for a three day title run.
- 1:01:16BP. Mr. Bob back well this is
- 1:01:19actually very interesting because they had a when Brett
- 1:01:23was champion in the summer. Over the summer he had a
- 1:01:26friendly match with Bob back when where he beat him, beat him
- 1:01:29clean as a sheep babyface match. And then Bob Backlin went nuts
- 1:01:31and attacked him and they pulled him off and he seemed confused.
- 1:01:35And again, urban legend was originally this was going to be
- 1:01:39a way to bring back Papa Shongo that he had put a curse on Bob
- 1:01:43Backlin. But for whatever reason that
- 1:01:45didn't happen or for whatever reason either because.
- 1:01:48He still hasn't found his mind. For whatever reason, well, now I
- 1:01:51think he's legitimately having some issues.
- 1:01:53Cognitively, No, I mean like serious ones.
- 1:01:56He's. Old.
- 1:01:57He's fucking up there. So whether that was ever planned
- 1:02:03or not, it wound up not happening.
- 1:02:05But Bob Backlund gets so over as this crazy old man that puts
- 1:02:09everybody in the crossface chicken wing.
- 1:02:10His old manager, Arnold Scullin, the guy from WWF magazine,
- 1:02:14Psycho old man Backlund was so entertaining.
- 1:02:18You have to. There's this one promo where
- 1:02:20he's talking about how he's never eaten marijuana.
- 1:02:26He's like, do you know when we work?
- 1:02:27When we work next to him at any point in time where you would
- 1:02:30legit like nervous. No, it's Bob back when No, it
- 1:02:33was dude, he. He was yoking people up all day
- 1:02:36long and he just kept looking over at us and I was like, he's
- 1:02:38going to fuck. He would like joke with us like
- 1:02:40he would like, like he's going to shoot on us every now and
- 1:02:42then. No, Bob, that.
- 1:02:43Was great, Bob. That was great.
- 1:02:45I loved him, but he's still kind of like, yo, this guy might put
- 1:02:48me in a chokehold and I'm not painted.
- 1:02:51So that's what that that was this whole shtick.
- 1:02:54And so, and so, yeah, they, they do have him beat Bret Hart, One
- 1:02:58of the great Owen Hart moments where it was a a you, you can
- 1:03:03only lose by having your corner throw in the towel.
- 1:03:06And Owen Hart's in Backlands corner and, and Bulldog is in
- 1:03:12Brett's corner. And they do a thing where Owen
- 1:03:13and Bulldog are chasing each other, Bulldogs chasing Owen
- 1:03:15around the ring. And and Owen trips Bulldog and
- 1:03:18he hits head first into the steps and they act like Bulldogs
- 1:03:21dead. He's acting like he's
- 1:03:22unconscious for like 20 minutes. Bulldog is brain dead at this
- 1:03:25point. So then then Stu Hart grabs the
- 1:03:27towel. He's in the Stu and Hellinger in
- 1:03:29the crowd and and Owen is pleading like back when has
- 1:03:33Brett in the crosshairs chicken wing for like 12 minutes.
- 1:03:37And and Owen is pleading like, I'm sorry, it's my brother, You,
- 1:03:40you got to save him. And she was like, yeah, I'm not
- 1:03:43going to, I'm not going to throw in this towel.
- 1:03:46You son of a bitch. You pretended to be Reggie
- 1:03:49Parks. I don't trust you.
- 1:03:52So finally Helen takes the towel and throws it in.
- 1:03:55And then Owen just celebrates like he won the Stanley Cup,
- 1:03:58like because it was all a ruse. He was just trying to talk his
- 1:04:01parents in the throne of the towel.
- 1:04:02So Brett was the title. God, I love Owen, I love Owen,
- 1:04:05and I love Psycho Backlin, but I wish Owen would have gotten this
- 1:04:07title run. It was only three days.
- 1:04:10I, I wish we would have just had Owen Hart WWF champion for a few
- 1:04:13days. It would have been amazing.
- 1:04:14Would would you have replaced Owen with the next champion?
- 1:04:16No. No, you would.
- 1:04:19Have kept diesel. I've no what I thought you
- 1:04:22meant. Would I?
- 1:04:23I would had. I would had.
- 1:04:24I would had Owen be Bucklin, and then I would have I would have
- 1:04:27had Owen hold it. I don't know if I would have
- 1:04:29had. Well, no, I.
- 1:04:30I wouldn't have worked as a top. I wouldn't have worked as a top
- 1:04:32babyface. So Diesel is the next attempt to
- 1:04:36recreate Hulk Hogan. Vince saw this big guy, Kevin
- 1:04:40Nash, who was very charismatic and very charismatic.
- 1:04:44So charismatic, however the character they want them to be,
- 1:04:48that shaking hands, kissing babies, white meat babyface is
- 1:04:52not Kevin Nash. If they would have had him be a
- 1:04:55little more true to himself, a little more cool, a little more
- 1:04:58of a not, I'm not saying he has to be Stone Cold Steve Austin,
- 1:05:00but a little more an edge to him.
- 1:05:03It would have worked. And also they would have given
- 1:05:04him any challengers besides Shawn Michaels that were any
- 1:05:06good that were heels. They had no heels for him to go
- 1:05:09up against. But yeah, so.
- 1:05:10So this is the next guy. They're gonna strap the rocket
- 1:05:13too. They're gonna change the title
- 1:05:14of the house show at Madison Square Garden.
- 1:05:16Literally. This match has a kick to the
- 1:05:17stomach on Bob Backlund, Jackknife 123.
- 1:05:19It's like 8 seconds long. Goes over hard, Yeah, but
- 1:05:23Backlund holds on the title once against Davy Boy.
- 1:05:25Yeah, he holds it for Diesel's gonna hold it for 358 days,
- 1:05:28which is I think one of the longest reigns with this title
- 1:05:32at up until this point. The last first time held that
- 1:05:36long was was probably Savage for 371.
- 1:05:40Yeah, it was becoming rare for a guy to be champion for a year
- 1:05:44and and Nash was champion for about a year.
- 1:05:48But then Brett's going to win it back at Survivor Series.
- 1:05:51Transition champion. Yeah, Brett, case of emergency
- 1:05:55break that glass. That glass is going to break
- 1:05:57soon from the left and that's going to be the end of the melt.
- 1:06:00Yeah, 133 days, Brett gets his third run as a champion and this
- 1:06:04is this is peak rustling for me because we're going to get.
- 1:06:08He defended the title in Hershey.
- 1:06:10Brett defended the title in Hershey during this run because
- 1:06:13that in your house 5 with the infamous Hark Arkansas hog pen
- 1:06:16match that was in Hershey, Brett defeated.
- 1:06:20I want to say, Brett. Wrestled bulldog of that show
- 1:06:24Yeah. Shawn Michaels is going to take
- 1:06:27the title at Mania in the 60 minute Iron Man match which I I
- 1:06:31think when you think of this title this is one of the moments
- 1:06:34I think that stand out. I think you have the you have
- 1:06:37the you have the Hogan warrior, you have savage Savage yeah
- 1:06:46Savage Muncho man and and Flair. And then I think, you know, I, I
- 1:06:51would say Brett's first run, but it's, I mean, it's so stupid
- 1:06:54with that. Yeah, but he he didn't even win
- 1:06:56it on as far as my my visual of Brett with that title is
- 1:07:00WrestleMania 10. The second time he wins it and
- 1:07:02it's Brett with all the baby faces putting Brett on their
- 1:07:05shoulders. And then Owen watches having
- 1:07:07beaten Brett earlier that night before he was champion.
- 1:07:09Owen just watching angry in the in the aisle.
- 1:07:12Yep, but Brett's going to Sean's going to win the boyhood dream
- 1:07:16here. This to me, this is what
- 1:07:18solidified that. I love this title.
- 1:07:20I love wrestling. I am a Sean guy.
- 1:07:22I remember being in a house full of Brett fans and he wins and
- 1:07:25I'm just like, I'm losing my mind, everyone.
- 1:07:28Because. Yeah.
- 1:07:30Because the the president of the WWF gorilla on the take Monsoon
- 1:07:35somehow came up with this rule. That said, for some reason now
- 1:07:40we have overtime in Iron Man matches.
- 1:07:42Yeah, this match must continue. Which was the IT was the right
- 1:07:45call BP. Well, I don't know about that.
- 1:07:50We're getting back to the debate, but no Sean's going to
- 1:07:52win here. He's going to hold it for 231
- 1:07:56days and he's gonna drop it to Psycho Sid and Survivor Series
- 1:08:02and then reclaim it after 63 days, for 25 days.
- 1:08:06It Royal Rumble, that was just a set up that's working with the
- 1:08:10belt in San Antonio. Yep.
- 1:08:12And then I don't remember what happened.
- 1:08:14I think, I think it was a really bad knee injury that that Sean
- 1:08:18went through almost career ending BP and then he
- 1:08:22unfortunately had to vacate the title.
- 1:08:24What happened was what happened was they said you're going to
- 1:08:26lose the title to Brett at WrestleMania and he slapped his
- 1:08:29knee so hard laughing that he dislocated something and he had
- 1:08:33to drop the title. Laughed so it slapped his knee.
- 1:08:37Laughing, so put. Somebody over Oh, my knee.
- 1:08:44Come on now. Well, Brett's going to hold it
- 1:08:47for probably as much time as Yokozuna did again.
- 1:08:50He actually held it for a day. Yeah, he has it for a day.
- 1:08:55Psycho Sid, this is big. This is the first time the title
- 1:08:58change its hands on Raw. Yeah, Yeah, he's going to win on
- 1:09:03Raw. Raw's now that starts in 93.
- 1:09:06So this is it's up 97. This happened.
- 1:09:08So it's a few years later after Raw, where it gets his first
- 1:09:11title, because it did change hands on Prime Time Wrestling,
- 1:09:14which is a predecessor. Then Taker's going to take it
- 1:09:18off of Sid. He's going to hold it for 133
- 1:09:21days. This is another good era of
- 1:09:24wrestling. I I love this era is when
- 1:09:26they're doing the Stone Cold Undertaker, Sean Stone Cold mix
- 1:09:30right here. When I was like this is this is
- 1:09:32good? Time.
- 1:09:32This is the germination of the Attitude Era.
- 1:09:35It's. Let's see, if you ask WWE, this
- 1:09:37next title changes the official beginning of the Attitude Era.
- 1:09:39They'll say this is when it started.
- 1:09:41Yeah. Or SummerSlam 97.
- 1:09:45Oop, my, my computer just froze here.
- 1:09:47So SummerSlam. Yeah, SummerSlam.
- 1:09:48Brett's going to win it back off of Undertaker thanks to the help
- 1:09:53of Shawn Michaels as the guest referee.
- 1:09:55Accidentally. So Shawn did something good for
- 1:10:00Brett there. You think he's Roma Bone later.
- 1:10:03Well, he will kind of interact. He wasn't going to, so Shawn
- 1:10:06took it. But Brett, Brett at this point.
- 1:10:09Shawn. OK, yeah.
- 1:10:10Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Shawn wouldn't be able to take
- 1:10:12shit from Brett. You're right, not a real sense.
- 1:10:17Brett is now holding the title for five times, which is the
- 1:10:20same amount of times as Hulk Hogan as he left the company at
- 1:10:24this point in time. So Sean gets his fifth
- 1:10:26championship and then unfortunately, another moment of
- 1:10:30this history of this title. When people think of this title
- 1:10:33and think of crazy moments and things that go for the test of
- 1:10:37time. We've talked about it before in
- 1:10:38this podcast and then nauseam, so we're not going to go too
- 1:10:41much into it, but the Montreal, Quebec, Canada match happens in
- 1:10:45Survivor Series. We all know what happens.
- 1:10:47The Montreal screw job Brett retain Brett gets loses the
- 1:10:50title to Shawn Michaels due to the screw job and then it
- 1:10:54actually. Happened knockout a few minutes
- 1:10:56later. Yeah, beats beats up McMahon and
- 1:10:58the. Very first ever Brawl for all
- 1:11:00match. Yeah, and then Shawn's going to
- 1:11:03hold it for 140 days. Almost would have been longer.
- 1:11:08Almost. It would have been longer than
- 1:11:09that. But then Undertaker had to start
- 1:11:11taping up a Swiss in the back. But also about this time, Sean
- 1:11:15legit fucks his back up bad. Yeah, Sean, she's back.
- 1:11:18Against the Undertaker. Yeah, against the Undertaker.
- 1:11:21He's in a rough, rough, rough. I remember still watching that
- 1:11:24and seeing but not rough enough to want to.
- 1:11:26Say, yeah, I'll lose to Austin. That's fine.
- 1:11:27Yeah, not that rough. He still wants to win that match
- 1:11:30even though his back is messed up, Undertaker says.
- 1:11:33That doesn't work for us, brother.
- 1:11:34He starts taping up his fists. Well, that's still kind of up in
- 1:11:37the air, Sean. They they kind of had that up.
- 1:11:39They talked about that where Sean's like, yeah, Sean, a lot
- 1:11:41of that time Sean is. So he's, he's a drug addict.
- 1:11:45He's a full blown drug addict. His pill addiction is through
- 1:11:48the roof. His alcohol abuse and everything
- 1:11:49else is through the roof. Sean's not in a good headspace.
- 1:11:52And it's probably the greatest thing for Sean to lose this
- 1:11:55match to Stone Cold Steve Austin and kind of get out of Dodge.
- 1:11:58He he, he was still in a bad way for a few years after that.
- 1:12:01Yeah, he's in. He's in rough shape.
- 1:12:03Like he he comes, he comes into the locker room, gets kicked
- 1:12:05out. Triple H actually kicks him out
- 1:12:07of the locker. Room that, that was the day he
- 1:12:08passed out on Vince's couch. Yeah, I, I, I got reminded of
- 1:12:12something in, in one of Jericho's books where Jericho is
- 1:12:16feuding with Regal. And so, so this is probably like
- 1:12:212001 ish, maybe 2000. Yeah, 'cause he didn't come over
- 1:12:25till I think it was 2001 and Sean's still in a bad way.
- 1:12:29And, and, and he, he did ride the ship, thankfully, because he
- 1:12:32probably wouldn't still be with us if he didn't.
- 1:12:34So and he's actually he's made wrestling a better place.
- 1:12:37He's doing great stuff as a coach and as a mentor and and
- 1:12:40doing good stuff on XT right now.
- 1:12:42And so Jericho is doing a thing where he dresses up as doink to.
- 1:12:48Sneak up on William Regal and beat up Regal and Sean sees him
- 1:12:53backstage and he he knows Jericho and he's like, oh man,
- 1:12:57Chris, you're Doink now. And he's like no, no, no, no.
- 1:13:01And Shawn's like out of it. He's slurring and everything.
- 1:13:03And, and, and Chris and jerk was like, no, no, no, no, this is an
- 1:13:06angle. It's like they're they're making
- 1:13:08you Doink though. And like, yeah, it's and
- 1:13:10dressing up like Doink so I can beat up Regal and then take the
- 1:13:12mask off. And I I got close to him because
- 1:13:14he thought I was doing. He's like, but why do you have
- 1:13:17to be Doink? Like he just couldn't get off of
- 1:13:20the fact in his mind. Chris Jericho is now Doink and
- 1:13:23will be Doink forever. That's amazing.
- 1:13:27But you're doing now. But yeah, Sean is going to drop
- 1:13:31the title at Mania to Stone Cold, Steve Austin, Mike Tyson
- 1:13:37with a knockout punch. So Tyson does get his
- 1:13:39opportunity during the Wing Championship to reclaim his
- 1:13:43opportunity and then get some knock somebody out and Stone
- 1:13:47Cold is going to be the last man to hold the Winged Eagle
- 1:13:51championship for quite some time.
- 1:13:54Yeah, because like a giant pie plate.
- 1:13:58Yeah, it was. It was the the the the what do
- 1:14:00they call the one the the the circle eagle or whatever.
- 1:14:02The the big circle, yeah, I call it circle pie plate his.
- 1:14:06Version had a blue version that did not keep very long.
- 1:14:09I call it the manhole cover. Yeah, the only reason I do like
- 1:14:13that next Gen. belt is because mankind does hold it.
- 1:14:16It's probably the only time I like that.
- 1:14:17Belt. I wasn't a fan of that belt.
- 1:14:19Yeah. And then they had the they would
- 1:14:21do the variance like Austin had the smoke and skull belt and the
- 1:14:26Rock had a brahmable belt. They did a lot of variance at
- 1:14:28that point too. And they did reintroduce the the
- 1:14:31old the eagle as the hardcore title.
- 1:14:34The urban legend was always they did an angle that when Hogan was
- 1:14:37chanting right before he lost at the Warrior where Mr. Perfect,
- 1:14:40not that where Mr. Perfect broke up the belt with a sledgehammer.
- 1:14:44And they say that was the one that was a hardcore title.
- 1:14:46And I don't think that's true though.
- 1:14:48Yeah, but then most recently on WB programming during a the
- 1:14:53return of Saturday Night Night night main event, they decide
- 1:14:56they're going to bring back the Winged Eagle championship to
- 1:14:58give it that retro look, that retro feel.
- 1:15:01Cody Rhodes has the title, he's going to wrestle Kevin Owens for
- 1:15:04it. And then they do this whole
- 1:15:05angle where Kevin steals the title.
- 1:15:07He he felt he justified and he won the title and he got screwed
- 1:15:10out. So the Winged Eagle did recently
- 1:15:12make an appearance on TV which I thought it was fun and.
- 1:15:16I I feel appearances. Yeah, I kind of hope it gets
- 1:15:19there's a like they we kind of have the new big gold with the
- 1:15:22with the the title that now Seth has.
- 1:15:24I kind of hope that Big W turns into a a version of the Eagle or
- 1:15:27something, or find a way to bring a variant of that title
- 1:15:31back and I. Don't think they have any plans
- 1:15:33on changing that title because it's their logo.
- 1:15:36Yeah, it's it's. And they get so much publicity
- 1:15:39by giving it to sports teams and everything like that.
- 1:15:41Anytime they have a big event, they have a giant version of it.
- 1:15:44There's a giant version of them in front of their corporate
- 1:15:46headquarters. I don't think that current
- 1:15:49version, as much as I prefer the winged eagle, I don't think that
- 1:15:52current version's going anywhere.
- 1:15:53So I I was thinking very hard to on this episode BP 'cause I was
- 1:15:56prepping so hard before the show started I was taking a nap and I
- 1:15:59decided I did not wear any WWE champions for this episode.
- 1:16:03Where my Dan house and shirt? There you go.
- 1:16:06But this is the new ABJ title made by my buddy Cody.
- 1:16:12This is made made in bread in Pennsylvania.
- 1:16:15This was not sent overseas. This was made right here in the
- 1:16:19US of A. But this is my version of the
- 1:16:21Winged Eagle. Essentially everywhere you would
- 1:16:23see the markings of the WWFWBI replaced it with ABJ and
- 1:16:28everything is pretty much original.
- 1:16:30The only thing that's changed is the ABJ in the front and then on
- 1:16:33the side plate, which I loved that the old belts have this,
- 1:16:36the old tag team, the old Intercontinental and the old
- 1:16:39world have this little plate that say champion or
- 1:16:42intercontinental or tag tag champion.
- 1:16:44And then they had the WB logo. I put the ABJ, the tip on there.
- 1:16:49It's gorgeous. I love it.
- 1:16:52Going forward though, BPI think the move is is less that has a
- 1:16:56logo I can spoof on the front. So like which I probably still
- 1:17:00won't do this boost, but like the AW logo will just have a BJ
- 1:17:04where the A/B AW would be or anything like that, the AW.
- 1:17:07But if it's a belt like the Intercontinental, the original
- 1:17:11IC or the tag or the modern US, So the modern, I see I'm going
- 1:17:18to keep the front plate original, but then put a piece
- 1:17:21almost like it's screwed onto the top of it and it's raised of
- 1:17:24the A/B GABJ over the top of the belt.
- 1:17:27So that's going to be the look of my now, now the WWE.
- 1:17:30Have the custom side plates though, that's that's perfect.
- 1:17:32Yeah, but I want it on the front.
- 1:17:33I kind of want this on the front of the belt to be like the
- 1:17:36trademark of my because I want to collect belts, but I want to
- 1:17:39have them in my own way and not have the actual belt.
- 1:17:44So if that makes sense, that's how I'm going to collect them
- 1:17:46going forward. But.
- 1:17:49Came out great. I loved it.
- 1:17:50Like I said, this is this is probably my favorite title.
- 1:17:54I will I, I I probably will get some hate for this, but my
- 1:17:58current day favorite title that I love I think is a gorgeous
- 1:18:01belt. I love the AEW world
- 1:18:03championship. I think it's a good looking tell
- 1:18:05the title. I think it the, the, the main
- 1:18:07play is a little smushed in for me.
- 1:18:08If it was a little wider, I would like it more because it
- 1:18:11does remind me of the the old IWGP title, which I love.
- 1:18:15Yeah, the the like the Tanahashi Okada era.
- 1:18:18That is such a beautiful belt. Yeah, and that, that, that AEW
- 1:18:21title is the triple stacked belt.
- 1:18:23That's three, three layers of belt on top of it.
- 1:18:25So when I get mine made, the guy pretty much said it, it's it's
- 1:18:28going to be a heavy boy. It's going to be really, really
- 1:18:30heavy. But yeah, so this is this is the
- 1:18:33new backdrop, just kind of going here.
- 1:18:34The new backdrop. I got the shelves.
- 1:18:36I put two more on top. I do have a new WWE Superstar
- 1:18:39figure coming in that I had to find on eBay 'cause it was
- 1:18:42impossible to find. And it does have a old title
- 1:18:45with it. So I'll do an unboxing with that
- 1:18:46very soon. But to wrap this up, the Winged
- 1:18:49Eagle wasn't the biggest belt. It wasn't the flashiest, but for
- 1:18:52a decade, if it was a symbol of being the very best in WWF, it
- 1:18:56stood for an era where the Champions didn't just represent
- 1:18:58a company, they represented wrestling itself.
- 1:19:01Even at the age of the giant titles, the digital screens, the
- 1:19:04wing eagle soars in the hearts of fans.
- 1:19:05It's more of a relic and a reminder that the gold meant
- 1:19:08everything. Until next time ABJBP reminded
- 1:19:11you. Champions come and go, but
- 1:19:12legends wear wings. That's.
- 1:19:14Right Champions wear wings and I'm watching them right now.
- 1:19:17That's why we recorded this on Tuesday.
- 1:19:20Well, before we close out BPBPPW on the 13th, Slatington, PA come
- 1:19:28on out for super show. Be a good time.
- 1:19:31I cannot wait for the match we've announced since the last
- 1:19:33time we've talked. Well, we announced it at the
- 1:19:34show but had to make sure some things were OK first.
- 1:19:37If they are. But VSK and Tony Deppen are
- 1:19:40going to go one-on-one for the PPWTV title, and I cannot wait
- 1:19:45for that one. Yeah, so we do have one more
- 1:19:48live episode on the 11th before PPW and we'll we'll kind of give
- 1:19:52you a full card rundown before PPW happens.
- 1:19:55So we'll talk about that on the 11th.
- 1:19:57And maybe I don't, I don't. Are you getting a ride up with?
- 1:20:01More than likely, yeah, I believe I am, yeah.
- 1:20:04I may need to hit you up in October, though.
- 1:20:06I may need to hit you up in October.
- 1:20:07Yeah, I was. I was at the sanctuary the other
- 1:20:09day. Yeah, wild.
- 1:20:11Then they haven't been there in a minute.
- 1:20:13It was neither. It was at this.
- 1:20:15Point. It was nice.
- 1:20:16It was nice to to soak it in again that listen, regardless of
- 1:20:20how things may have ended. That is home like I I, I don't I
- 1:20:24am not who I am in the wrestling business right now.
- 1:20:27If it's not for the sanctuary, very good place to.
- 1:20:30Learn your trade Very good place to learn your trade I.
- 1:20:32Snuck upstairs. I went into the our our little
- 1:20:34spot. I took a picture.
- 1:20:36I was like, we call some shit up here.
- 1:20:39You know what? I mean.
- 1:20:40Yeah, we got to call a guy who's now in a WAWAS Austin up in
- 1:20:44that, that little crow's nest, but got to see the cowboy,
- 1:20:48Cowboy Billy Walker. Happy birthday, 60th birthday.
- 1:20:51Guy shouldn't even be here. Diagnosed with cancer.
- 1:20:54It was a rough, rough go for him.
- 1:20:55He survived it. Cancer never had a chance.
- 1:20:58They never, never had a chance. Got to see face for the first
- 1:21:01time in a while. That was really nice.
- 1:21:03Andre Pelino for the first time in a while, that was nice seeing
- 1:21:06him. It was it was a good time so we
- 1:21:08got to see some love and got got to see some sanctuary love
- 1:21:11again. That was really nice.
- 1:21:12Anything else you want to plug before you get out of here?
- 1:21:14No, I think we covered pretty much all of it.
- 1:21:16But hopefully at this point in in real time, the Eagles are up
- 1:21:19by two or three touchdowns and. And then the Cowboys are
- 1:21:23statistically removed from playoff pitcher, Yeah.
- 1:21:25Well, I think that happened when they traded Michael Parsons, but
- 1:21:28OK. Actually does not look like it
- 1:21:29was a terrible move. We'll.
- 1:21:32See. Did you hear about he's already
- 1:21:33has a back injury he might not even play for?
- 1:21:36He'll be fine. He'll be fine and good.
- 1:21:39I hope. No, I don't want to say that
- 1:21:41because I don't. I don't wish a career ending
- 1:21:42injury on anybody. He's.
- 1:21:44Really good when he's. Playing he's very good, but I'm
- 1:21:46not a big fan of the Packers even try to ban they they they
- 1:21:49got all whiny about a certain play that is now sponsored is
- 1:21:53now sponsored the first it might be the first ever sponsored
- 1:21:56football play. It is now the dude wipes.
- 1:22:00It is now the the Tush push brought to you by Dude Wipes.
- 1:22:03Oh my God, you might as well just put Slim Jim on his ass.
- 1:22:06It's. The official, they're the
- 1:22:09official. The official wipes of the touch
- 1:22:12push. That is wild.
- 1:22:15That's crazy. We're sponsoring football plays.
- 1:22:18Yeah. Well, make a play good enough,
- 1:22:21maybe. Maybe a commander's play a good
- 1:22:22sponsor too, hey? It's very possible Jaden Daniels
- 1:22:25is making magic, so who who knows what he pulls out of his
- 1:22:27bag this year. We will have some wrestle from
- 1:22:30from football content there. You may see some stuff on the
- 1:22:32ABJ podcast. I don't think I'm going to make
- 1:22:34it its own individual series. We might just talk about it as a
- 1:22:37ABJ podcast. Episode of people from the
- 1:22:38commanders don't play until like September that.
- 1:22:40That's I know, but I I think. It's like 16 a week, 18.
- 1:22:44I think it'd be fun to maybe once a week or every other week,
- 1:22:47we talk just a little football if we can, and just just ABJ
- 1:22:50podcast episodes where we're just like, hey, this is the 2025
- 1:22:54season. BPABJ.
- 1:22:55We could just call. I mean we won't make a full show
- 1:22:57out of it, but I think we should keep the name that we are
- 1:23:00talking about as like the ABJ. Podcast I don't, I don't know
- 1:23:04cuz I don't really. They're irrelevant now.
- 1:23:05Who who cares? They're they're they're nothing.
- 1:23:07But that's our common hatred, and I think I can make a cool
- 1:23:10logo out of it with the we the we hate Dallas.
- 1:23:15Yeah. But I I can't wait for the
- 1:23:17season to be fun. You kick off tonight when you as
- 1:23:20you guys are watching this, the NFL season kicks off.
- 1:23:23I did have one more Oh, if you guys want please check out iwtv
- 1:23:27subscribe and go check out the last fighter tainment.
- 1:23:31I got to do some ring announcing, some great
- 1:23:33fortunately. I had to miss that one, I was so
- 1:23:36bummed. Don't leave the the studio when
- 1:23:39we when we finish right away. I have to tell you something,
- 1:23:41but it was a great show raised I think, I think close to 1000 or
- 1:23:45maybe. 2000 I think they said it was in the four figures, which
- 1:23:48is great cuz it's all going to Jeff Cannonball and.
- 1:23:51Yeah, and that's what it's saying now.
- 1:23:53And there's another one coming up in September you can support,
- 1:23:56but on the IWTV stream, they put up Tony Dippin's PayPal.
- 1:24:01You can still go and watch the shows and donate money to Tony
- 1:24:03Dippin. I don't think Tony Deppen's
- 1:24:05putting a restriction of when this is going to be a thing
- 1:24:08because Tony Deppen did announce at the show that regardless of
- 1:24:11how this turns out, good, bad or indifferent is going to be a
- 1:24:14yearly thing. We're going to do a yearly
- 1:24:16cannonball show at Pilgru and and and help raise money to help
- 1:24:19they're. Also doing a big one in on the
- 1:24:2114th of September if you're in the New York area.
- 1:24:24I forget the exact location, but it's a high school in North
- 1:24:27Jersey, not too far from New York City where they are doing
- 1:24:31Cannonball Fest. Tony Deppen's taking on Willow
- 1:24:33Nightingale and JF will be there.
- 1:24:35They're gonna have a big show on on September 14th.
- 1:24:39Yeah, I think there's gonna be a car full of us going up for that
- 1:24:41one, but we'll see you guys next time.
- 1:24:43Go support. See you.
- 1:24:44We love you all. Get your Winged Eagles.
- 1:24:47Get your favorite titles. Comment below what title you
- 1:24:49want us to cover next on this episode, and we'll do some
- 1:24:52history of So we told you the history of's aren't going
- 1:24:54anywhere. Clash of Paris did happen.
- 1:24:56We'll talk about that next week. I'm gonna be it.
- 1:24:58Wasn't very good. You didn't miss anything.
- 1:24:59I haven't watched the full pay-per-view yet.
- 1:25:01I got about halfway through and. Fellas, you didn't miss a whole
- 1:25:03lot. Yeah, I don't think I did
- 1:25:04either, but we'll see you guys next time we're out of.
- 1:25:06Here go birds.
