- 0:00As part of Ferrari Fridays, William Ross from the Exotic Car Marketplace
- 0:04will be discussing all things Ferrari and interviewing people that live
- 0:07and breathe the Ferrari brand.
- 0:09Topics range from road cars to racing, drivers to owners, as well
- 0:13as auctions, private sales, and trends in the collector market.
- 0:26And welcome back everyone to the Ferrari marketplace.
- 0:29This is William.
- 0:30I hope everybody is doing well.
- 0:32Um, this took a little bit getting this, uh, next episode out.
- 0:36Uh, I've been traveling quite a bit.
- 0:37The past couple of weekends, uh, was out in California, as you know.
- 0:41And then this past weekend, I was down at Amelia Island for the
- 0:45Concourse d'Elegance down there.
- 0:47The one that Hagerty just took over and they renamed it.
- 0:49I just shortened up the name, I guess.
- 0:52So, but, um, kind of want to jump in this stuff, but first and foremost, I kind of
- 0:57want to say, you know, this is a Friday that I'm dropping this and this is what
- 1:01March 11th, I believe today's date is, um, and season four drive to survive.
- 1:10And I got snookered into watching the first few episodes and started
- 1:16getting the binge saying I had to peel myself away because I needed
- 1:19to get this up and put it out there.
- 1:21And so, but I don't know if any of you out there have been watching this season.
- 1:27Drive to survive the past three seasons or what?
- 1:29But I mean, I really, I enjoyed it.
- 1:31I mean, I like it.
- 1:31Um, I think they did a heck of a job yet, you know, building up, um,
- 1:37creating the drama, whatever you got, how they want to do, but it's
- 1:40television, that's what they got to do.
- 1:41But, you know, I really like it because it gives you more of a sense, kind of
- 1:44gives you, you know, more of a behind the scenes look, you know, and anyone that's,
- 1:48is an F one fan, you know, knows that how formula one is very standoffish and closed
- 1:53off and, you Getting to see what goes on behind the scenes is about impossible
- 1:57unless you, you know, are very, very rich or you work for one of the teams.
- 2:03So it's, it's always really cool to see, but I said, I just watched the
- 2:06first few episodes and you know, it's just as good as it's been in the past.
- 2:10So, um, I've only gotten through three episodes, so, uh, there's more
- 2:13to come and I had to peel myself away, like I said, so I could, uh,
- 2:17get this, this episode up and going.
- 2:19So anyways.
- 2:21Back to the main agenda and talking about Amelia Island.
- 2:24Um, so what I did is, uh, I was, I was on the fence about going down because
- 2:29I had just gotten back from California that Monday night and I thought I'd
- 2:34talk my, uh, Father to come down with me and each time I talked to him, I
- 2:39could tell that he didn't want to go.
- 2:41So I finally just let him off the hook and say, look, I can
- 2:43tell you don't want to go.
- 2:44Don't worry about it.
- 2:45So I ended up just, you know, jumping in the car myself
- 2:48Thursday and just driving down.
- 2:50It's not that bad of a drive.
- 2:51You know, it's only like 12 hours.
- 2:52So it's no big deal.
- 2:53I like driving.
- 2:54So, you know, it's not bad.
- 2:55Especially, you know, you driving the right car helps also too.
- 2:59And, you know, it's going through the mountains to West Virginia.
- 3:01Virginia is a lot of fun and, you know, a lot of twists and turns and what
- 3:04have you and You know, getting out past that once you get into, you know, um,
- 3:08the Carolinas and Georgia and that, you know, it's pretty nice straight
- 3:11shots and, um, you know, nice just.
- 3:14Wide open stints, you know, you get humming along it at a nice
- 3:17fast pace and it goes quick.
- 3:19But the thing that drives me nuts is these yahoos that park out in the left lane
- 3:26and then they don't either don't look in their mirrors or just absolutely clueless
- 3:31or they're just that bad of drivers.
- 3:33So I don't know.
- 3:34And it just really, really.
- 3:35It bugs the shit out of me that these people, I mean, and they're the ones that
- 3:40kind of get traffic backed up because they sit out there, you know, and they take
- 3:44their sweet ass time, like trying to pass someone and you know, you got like five
- 3:48cars behind you and you're sitting there on them trying to get them, you know,
- 3:51it's just, it's a pain in the ass and I'm sure a lot of you probably have dealt
- 3:54with it and you know, I just don't get it.
- 3:56You know, they, they should make it a national law.
- 3:59That, you know, I know some states have, like Ohio has it, and a lot of states, oh,
- 4:03hey, you know, left lane's passing only, but people ignore the heck out of that.
- 4:06And what they need to do is make it a law, and I think Germany is the one
- 4:10that has a fantastic law regarding this.
- 4:12One, semis cannot even go in the left lane, so depending if there's only two
- 4:16lanes, they gotta stay in the right lane, they can't even go over there.
- 4:19And you have to get back over to the right lane.
- 4:21You cannot just sit out there in that left lane.
- 4:24Because like, as soon as you pass someone, you get right back over.
- 4:27And, you know, that's what needs to happen here.
- 4:29I mean, because this is just getting ridiculous with people.
- 4:32And this is what causes road rage.
- 4:34And, you know, I just don't get it.
- 4:36But anyways, back to Amelia.
- 4:37So anyways, I got down there, um, well I left on Thursday.
- 4:42And I drove down, I, I got down, I didn't leave till a little bit in the morning.
- 4:45It's like about 9 15 or so, nine ish.
- 4:48And I drove down to about 8 PM or so I got down to about Savannah, Georgia,
- 4:54which only put me like a couple hours outside of where Amelia is, Amelia, not
- 4:58all that familiar is basically kind of just Northeast of Jacksonville, Florida.
- 5:04Um, so I, I got to Savannah cause I, I was beat and it's like, Hey, I can just
- 5:09get up in the morning cause nothing really started till about 10 o'clock.
- 5:11Anyways, the next day.
- 5:12So I parked myself in Savannah for the evening got up early in the
- 5:17morning and made my way to the Gooding auction So that was my first event.
- 5:21I wanted to hit that was going on on that Friday And they have their own
- 5:26separate facility over at the Omni Club and real nice setup, you know, lots
- 5:30of tents everything's available and I will say this if you ever go down to
- 5:35Amelia the parking is the biggest pain in the ass and you know, sometimes you
- 5:40can luck out if you're doing, you can park out on the road, you know, on the
- 5:44side of the street and that, you know, they're pretty flexible about that.
- 5:46But there are tons of signs everywhere about telling you
- 5:48where you can and can't park.
- 5:50Um, but no, especially going for Saturday and Sunday, the concourse
- 5:53itself at the Ritz, you know, you could either have to get there at 56 a.
- 5:58m.
- 5:59Park somewhere relatively close and walk or you're gonna be spending 20 30
- 6:0340 dollars for parking It is what it is, you know, so so be it But anyways,
- 6:08so I got to gooding and I got myself actually a decent spot, which I was
- 6:11actually surprised But so I got in and I started going around I shot some videos.
- 6:15So if you want you'll check out the Um, the uh, YouTube channel and you know,
- 6:20the Ferrari marketplace or motorsports.
- 6:23And I got a lot of stuff that's posted up there, but check out
- 6:26the Ferrari marketplace site.
- 6:27I got, you know, tons of video up.
- 6:29It's a multiple videos, I guess you would say.
- 6:33Um, cause you know, goody was the one that actually had, I guess
- 6:37the, uh, I guess the most Ferraris added available for the auction.
- 6:41And you know, they had a great.
- 6:42It's, you know, set up regards to in the tents going around and then
- 6:45you actually had the auction room itself, the auction tent itself, which
- 6:49was rather large and it was packed.
- 6:52Now, I don't know if this is just because it's pent up, you know, people finally
- 6:55getting out and be able to kind of start going to places and whatnot because of
- 6:58COVID it's getting a little more, you know, things are getting a little more
- 7:00relaxed or what, but I can tell you what, it was packed to the wall, the wall.
- 7:04I mean, it was, there was a lot of people, a lot of activity, a lot of,
- 7:06a lot of people raising their hands.
- 7:09Um, you know, some stuff going below estimates, some going above
- 7:13estimates, some right in the middle.
- 7:14You know, it just kind of depends.
- 7:16Um, like I said, you know, Gooding had probably the biggest selection of Ferraris
- 7:22there, uh, that they were auctioning off.
- 7:24And they had a, now the one they had that was kind of interesting
- 7:27was a, was a Testarossa Recreation.
- 7:29And it went right just above its high estimate, went for, I think
- 7:33it was just a smidge over the, you know, half a million dollar mark.
- 7:36But I tell you what, it was a really, really nice job on the
- 7:39street creation that someone did.
- 7:40And, you know, this is a car that, hey, you can drive on the street and not
- 7:45have to worry about telling me it's still a half a million dollar car.
- 7:47But, you know, it's, you're not so much worried about driving a 10, 15, 20
- 7:53million dollar Testarossa out on the road.
- 7:56Whereas you got this thing where it's got a Ferrari engine chassis I think
- 7:59they took off a 330 chassis and you know made the body did everything with it
- 8:03Then you'll put the you know motor in it.
- 8:06So I mean, it's a Ferrari just a it's a rebodied car on it You know 330 chassis
- 8:11So but it's when you go out there and drive and have some fun with and enjoy
- 8:13it not really be paranoid About someone getting too close to you on the street
- 8:18or anything like that now at Gooding They're the top Ferrari that they had
- 8:23go off was an f40 91 f40 And it sold for just over, just, just a smidge under, I
- 8:31should say, uh, two and a half million.
- 8:34Uh, the estimate, it fell, you know, it was on the lower end of
- 8:36the estimate, the estimate was 2.
- 8:374 to 2.
- 8:388.
- 8:39Um, so that thing was really nice.
- 8:41It was super clean.
- 8:41It had a decent mileage on it.
- 8:43Uh, well maintained document history and stuff like that.
- 8:45So that was nice.
- 8:46And the next they had was a, uh, 67 330 GTS.
- 8:50Now that one again, low end of the estimate, just a smidge
- 8:53over, just a hair under 2.
- 8:551 million.
- 8:56Uh, estimates were 2 to 2.
- 8:584.
- 8:58So again, low end of the estimate.
- 9:01And the last one that they had go through was a 275.
- 9:06If you check out the videos on the channel, you'll see I have posted pictures
- 9:10on this place, you know on this car, too Now this 275 now you probably go.
- 9:14Wow, that's you know went for a decent price.
- 9:16Well, this thing needed a ton of work The sills everything were rotted.
- 9:22I mean I couldn't see the floors, but you looked inside and the passenger
- 9:25foot Well, it was just all wires.
- 9:27I mean this thing needed a lot of love It had been sitting for a long
- 9:31long time in someone's garage barn, whatever But You're probably looking
- 9:37but close to probably between 800 to a million dollars to get this thing up
- 9:41to snuff You know, so it was someone took it on and someone's gonna do it.
- 9:46So again, it's kind of one of those ones Okay, you stand there looking at it.
- 9:51You're like, okay Hey, I could just you know get to get it running good
- 9:54But not and just drive it with the patina and not to worry about it.
- 9:56Well It's gonna take a lot more than that to get this
- 9:58thing up and going on the road.
- 10:00So, um, kudos to whoever purchased it and was gonna get this thing up
- 10:05on the road and get this thing going.
- 10:06So, um, good for them.
- 10:08'cause, you know, you like to, don't like to see these things just
- 10:10kind of rotten, go into the ground.
- 10:12So, but, um, you know, the rest of the auction was really, really good time.
- 10:16I mean, a lot of activity going on.
- 10:18And, uh, they had sold, uh, you know, a, uh, a Talbot Lago.
- 10:22That went for, uh, after all said and done just a smidge under
- 10:2613 and a half million dollars.
- 10:28So that was kind of interesting to watch that and it's always fun watching
- 10:30the auctioneers, you know, try and I guess push things out, you know, kind
- 10:34of get more money because they're obviously they're trying to get the
- 10:37most for the seller, but you know, the more they get for the seller,
- 10:40the more they put in their pocket.
- 10:42So, you know, it's a win win for everybody all around except maybe the buyer
- 10:44who's got to spend more money on it.
- 10:46So, but this car was absolutely gorgeous.
- 10:48It was the main focal point.
- 10:50Uh, when you went in the one tent, first tent, as soon as you walked in, you
- 10:53know, got your ticket and went through, they had it up on a pedestal, you
- 10:56know, roped off, everything like that.
- 10:58So, I mean, you can still get up close to it and look inside it, take
- 11:00photos and everything like that.
- 11:01But this thing was absolutely gorgeous.
- 11:03And, you know, it worked probably every bit of the 13 and a half million.
- 11:07So kudos, congrats to the new buyer on that.
- 11:11Um, so anyways, that, you know, you know, hanging out there, I mean, they didn't
- 11:17have like hundreds and hundreds of cars.
- 11:18So the event didn't last all that long.
- 11:21So, I mean, I got out of there, I think it was like around 2, 2.
- 11:2330, and I think they still had a few cars to go, but I kind of wanted
- 11:26to beat traffic, and there really wasn't much else to do after that.
- 11:31Um, you know, they kind of stressed me out.
- 11:33Now, Sotheby's had their thing going on, and Bonhams also.
- 11:36I didn't go to either of those auctions, because I just, I didn't want to do it,
- 11:40because I know both those, they really didn't have anything that was of interest
- 11:43to me that was going across the block.
- 11:46But, the other fact is, Tuesday was a relatively smaller sized auction, so.
- 11:51It just wasn't, wasn't intriguing enough for me to take my time and go over there.
- 11:56So now, so after it's over, I just, you know, got stuff.
- 11:59Cause I was still kind of beat from doing all the driving the past couple of days.
- 12:03So I went, you know, got to my hotel, went and checked in and went
- 12:05up to the store and got a thing.
- 12:06But I wanted to say this, the hotel I stayed at was absolute crap.
- 12:09Um, you know, I was shopping around trying to find a hotel last minute
- 12:13and this one was, you know, It was only like 70 bucks a night.
- 12:17It was cheap and you get what you pay for.
- 12:19Right.
- 12:19You know, so, but kind of pissed me off was, you know, when I did, I was
- 12:25like, okay, I'm gonna stay, you know, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night and
- 12:27I'll leave Monday morning cause I, you know, I wasn't thinking, but then after,
- 12:30you know, what was going on and being at the events on Friday, I realized,
- 12:34well, shit, I'm going to be out of here.
- 12:35Probably one, two o'clock on Sunday.
- 12:37I'm not going to just go and hang out, you know, and wait till Monday morning, leave.
- 12:41I'll just get on the road and start driving halfway.
- 12:44Sunday night or Sunday and get halfway that way I'm not doing so much driving
- 12:48and you know I did it through hotels.
- 12:51com and sure enough, you know, and I knew that way I'm just talking these
- 12:54morons at the front desk, you know, they had clueless I mean when you're at a
- 12:58place, it's only 60 70 dollars a night.
- 13:00You're gonna get the kind of people that work there they're just absolutely
- 13:03clueless and They were absolutely no help.
- 13:06I was like, look, I'm not trying to, I just want to cancel the one night.
- 13:08I don't need it.
- 13:09And I knew that they weren't going to go for that because they
- 13:11want to scrape every nickel out.
- 13:13And sure enough, they didn't.
- 13:14Uh, you know, I went to hotels.
- 13:16com, you know, and going back forth, phone calls, whatnot, and trying to explain it.
- 13:20I get an email and say, well, you know, they're, since you're still
- 13:23there, they're not going to cancel it.
- 13:25I'm not canceling it.
- 13:26I just need to get rid of the, you know, cancel the one for last night.
- 13:29Cause I'm not going to be here.
- 13:31Oh, apologize for the, the confusion, blah, blah, blah.
- 13:34You know?
- 13:34And cause I knew they weren't gonna do nothing.
- 13:36So anyways, I had to eat it, but anyways, what can you do?
- 13:40But the place was just absolute shithole and.
- 13:44If it comes up I'm not gonna name the name because I'm not gonna all sudden
- 13:47somebody get this and I get a lawsuit or something for Defamation or some kind
- 13:51of crap like that, but let's just say it's an it was just an absolute shithole
- 13:55But anyways, so I just hung out and then Saturday morning I got up early got
- 13:59myself moving because they had going on at the Ritz itself where the concourse
- 14:04is On saturday they had the radwood and the concourse de lemons Um, i'm not sure
- 14:09how many of you out there familiar with this, you know the concourse de lemons and
- 14:12the radwood Now the concourse of lemons, you know They've actually been around
- 14:15for a few years now and which started out as a joke out in pebble beach And
- 14:20kind of just as the anti establishment type situation So these guys set it up
- 14:25and got these going but it took off.
- 14:27I mean it was a huge hit You know, I don't know if you've ever been to one
- 14:30but they're just absolutely a blast to jetty, walk through and see, um, you
- 14:35know, it's people, you know, they're not taking themselves seriously.
- 14:38They're just having fun.
- 14:39And this Radwood is something that's relatively, uh, new to the
- 14:43scene in regards to what they do.
- 14:45It's kind of, I don't say not take off the concourse of lemons, but
- 14:48what this is, Radwood was like their eighties and nineties cars.
- 14:51Um, so cars to me that I grew up, you know, in high school and college,
- 14:56you know, having and lusting after, um, but it wasn't like, you know,
- 14:59have Ferrari stuff like that.
- 15:01You know, it's going to be your, your Mustangs, your Camaros, stuff like that.
- 15:05Um, you know, stuff that you could actually maybe obtain in
- 15:08high school and drive around.
- 15:09So I don't know about you, but, uh, I had a Fiero GT in high school.
- 15:13Um, that thing was a blast.
- 15:15And then I, once I graduated, I had actually a Mustang GT, um, an 85.
- 15:19That thing was awesome.
- 15:20But anyways.
- 15:22Those events were a lot of fun.
- 15:23They had other things going on around there with it.
- 15:25Um, you know, it wasn't just those events there.
- 15:29Porsche had a nice set up, um, and then there was a kind of a set up going
- 15:33on because they had the lake set up.
- 15:34Now if you, you know, look at some of the photos and videos and what
- 15:36not of how this thing was done.
- 15:38You know, they had other cars set up.
- 15:39The guys from Curated had a nice set up with uh, some Lamborghinis
- 15:43and that, um, and an F40.
- 15:45And which he had actually at Cavalino and I thought that thing might have been sold
- 15:51because it was Nigel Mansell's old F40.
- 15:54I believe it was curated, the way it was presented, I believe it
- 15:57was from curated, but I could be wrong, so don't quote me on it.
- 16:02But the one cool thing that was there was Jim Glickenhaus.
- 16:05I don't know how familiar you are with, you know, IMSA, you know, Le
- 16:08Mans, that kind of stuff and Sebring.
- 16:11But, you know, Jim Glickenhaus is a huge motorsports fan and a big Ferrari person.
- 16:17But, um, he's signed to take on big, whatever you want to call
- 16:22them, Toyota, all those guys at Lamar and build his own car.
- 16:27Now he had built some cars in the past where he actually
- 16:29took, you know, Ferrari chassis.
- 16:31The one was beautiful.
- 16:32He took the Enzo chassis and built that P3 P4.
- 16:36Um, thing was stunning race.
- 16:38It did it at Nuremberg, at Nuremberg ring, 24 hours, you know, did really
- 16:41well, um, for like a small, just, I want to say homegrown team, but
- 16:45you know, they did rather well.
- 16:47So, but you know, last year, just because of COVID that kind of had
- 16:50some, I would not say setbacks, but you know, it just kind of slowed the.
- 16:54The, uh, build up the, um, what's the word I'm looking for the development
- 17:01of the car, uh, and for them at Lamar, Lamar, they, they went, you
- 17:05know, they were respectable, but you know, they got the balance of
- 17:08competition, uh, that they got to do or balance of performance, I should say.
- 17:13So this year is going to be interesting.
- 17:15I know they were headed down to Sebring and they're only going to have one
- 17:19car there, but then at Lamar, they're going to have two cars, but now I
- 17:23saw it interesting enough that they had posted that they actually have.
- 17:26I don't know if it's the second car that something fell through or what
- 17:28but they were advertising as hey You want to come in and you know be
- 17:33part of this and for Lamar some crap like that So I don't know something
- 17:36happened or what what fell through but anyways, you know Jim Glickenhaus
- 17:40himself was there at the event.
- 17:41He's actually there both days Saturday and Sunday and super nice guy So I
- 17:45talked to him for I don't know a good half hour just kind of going over the
- 17:47car, you know They had there was there about two weeks away From being, uh, the
- 17:53homologation for it to be able to, you know, get these things road certified so
- 17:57they could actually start delivering cars.
- 17:59Um, their plan is, I think he said it was to do about 30
- 18:03cars this year, 25 to 30 cars.
- 18:05And the next year, like do 100 to 150 cars.
- 18:07Um, and maybe like kind of cap it at that.
- 18:10Um, and a couple of different styles of it was really cool.
- 18:13You know, and you have variations.
- 18:14You could get a manual in it if you wanted.
- 18:17Um, you know, shift your own gears, or if you want to get to the, you
- 18:19know, the paddle floppy paddle box, you could get that also.
- 18:23But what was kind of interesting is the interior on the car he
- 18:26had there was leopard print.
- 18:28Um, that's something I would choose, but it did really, really stand out.
- 18:33That's for sure.
- 18:34Um, but I highly, you know, recommend you go check out Glickenhaus's, uh, website,
- 18:38uh, Scooteria Cameron Glickenhaus or Glickenhaus Cameron, something like that.
- 18:43Um, I forget how he actually has it worded, but look up Scooteria Glickenhaus.
- 18:47And look up his, uh, the team and stuff like that.
- 18:50And, you know, they got a cool, you know, they do a lot of
- 18:52updates on Facebook and that.
- 18:54And they're getting ready, obviously, they're going down to Sebring
- 18:56because that's the next weekend.
- 18:57So they're getting ready for the Sebring 12 hours.
- 18:59And that'll be a good touch for that car because that thing
- 19:02just beats the heck out of cars.
- 19:03That is not the smoothest of tracks.
- 19:05I don't know if any of you guys have been down there, but I've
- 19:06actually raced on that track.
- 19:08And let me tell you, that thing is not smooth at all.
- 19:11It is super, super rough and they don't do a damn thing about it to try and smooth it
- 19:16out or make it any nicer for the drivers.
- 19:18You just bounce around like crazy.
- 19:20It just beats the heck out of you.
- 19:22But anyways, so kind of going around then, um, you know, they had, you
- 19:26know, a few other things in there now.
- 19:28This being the 75th anniversary of Ferrari, they didn't have
- 19:31anything on Saturday per se.
- 19:32They had, you know, a few Ferraris there and what not.
- 19:34Um, but really nothing crazy.
- 19:37And, you know, kind of wandering around.
- 19:38They had some, you know, other decent stuff.
- 19:40The one thing I was kind of surprised was, I thought they'd have more vendors there.
- 19:44They'd have like more, you know, booths, uh, people selling things.
- 19:46Now, they had a few.
- 19:48Um, but, I don't know if it seems to be because it's like, you know, they've
- 19:52been to quite a few of these things.
- 19:54And, it seems to be there's always, A lot of artists selling paintings,
- 20:00you know, uh, car paintings, what have you there and not cheaply.
- 20:05Um, the one person's, uh, booth I went into seven grand, 13 grand,
- 20:1115 grand for some of these things.
- 20:13And no, you're not talking some big, huge mural, you know,
- 20:15mural, mural, uh, get that out.
- 20:18Um, you know, it's just a standard size, you know, poster size, what
- 20:23you would call it, you know, I mean, yeah, they're gorgeous and
- 20:25looking at it, but I don't know.
- 20:26I mean, I guess it's all in the beholder and what someone
- 20:29values something at, but I mean.
- 20:32I'm not in the position that I can just go and spend, you know, seven, eight, 10
- 20:35grand on, you know, something like that.
- 20:36I'm just gonna hang on the wall and I don't have that kind of money anyways.
- 20:40Uh, but obviously a lot of people do.
- 20:41So that's one thing you do notice when you go these things, there is lots
- 20:44of people with lots of money there.
- 20:46But, um, anyway, it's kind of wrapping up, you know, Saturday,
- 20:48like I said, Saturday was great.
- 20:50It was cool.
- 20:50I said it was packed.
- 20:51And when I was pulling in again, I had to pay.
- 20:54Forty dollars for parking because my bad back I can't really park too far
- 20:57away because I can't only I only can do so much Walking so it's like I just
- 21:00gotta bite the bullet and I just pay for the parking Which is nice because
- 21:05then they had a golf cart to you from that that section which was you were
- 21:08close Because I was paying for it hours.
- 21:11You were relatively close to the event So but they still had a golf cart that would
- 21:14take you over to the field or anything was and you go in and they were pretty
- 21:19Diligent in regards to checking all your bags and whatnot and pulling stuff out.
- 21:26Um, you know, I had a camera, you know, and a couple of camera
- 21:29sticks, that kind of stuff.
- 21:30I had to pull all this junk out of this bag.
- 21:32It was just a pain.
- 21:33I mean, I get it, but it was a bit overkill to me if you ask.
- 21:37Um, so anyways, So wrapping up on, you know, when you went up to around the
- 21:45hotel's entrance itself, the circular drive, you know, they had McLaren
- 21:48had a really cool setup up there.
- 21:50The one thing was neat and you had a sign for it and it got booked up pretty quick.
- 21:54There was Porsche had where you could do test drives.
- 21:56And.
- 21:57I'm not quite sure where the route was.
- 21:59Cause I didn't get to go on it cause it was booked up.
- 22:01Um, but you actually got, and I don't think someone was in the car with you
- 22:07from Porsche, I think they, Hey, they took the car and they had the Macan.
- 22:10Uh, they had a Tican, uh, no nine 11s.
- 22:14I don't believe.
- 22:14Um, and I think a Cayenne, I think it was there too.
- 22:17So I'm not quite sure they got it, but Hagerty also had.
- 22:20The same thing.
- 22:21So now I really didn't go and inquire about this one either, but
- 22:23they had classic cars where you could take them for a drive again.
- 22:27I don't know if he had to pay for the Hagerty one.
- 22:30I know the Porsche one was free.
- 22:31Just had to sign up.
- 22:32Uh, the Hagerty one.
- 22:34I would assume you probably had to pay, but they had an old Bronco.
- 22:37Uh, they had a do che vo, do che vo, you know, Citroen.
- 22:40Um, you know what I'm talking about?
- 22:42One of those weird things.
- 22:43Um, so I didn't really kind of delve into how much cost wise and whatnot
- 22:47would been to test out one of those, but I seen them driving around and
- 22:51you can see, cause they had the big stickers on them, everything like that.
- 22:53So that was kind of cool.
- 22:55You know, so if you want to take a thing and again, I don't know how big.
- 22:57Or how long you go for a drive on this thing.
- 23:00And other thing was, is traffic was horrendous.
- 23:02So not really quite sure where you're going to go very far, especially those
- 23:05old cars, I would imagine those things kind of get hot pretty damn quick.
- 23:10Uh, you'd be watching that temperature gauge.
- 23:14But anyways, so I got done pretty early on Saturday too.
- 23:18Again, I would wrap things up around like two o'clock and get, get everything
- 23:22out of there, put it, present the words.
- 23:23And you know, I'm not an awards person.
- 23:25Hey, what'd you do good for you for winning?
- 23:27So I left and I went to the beach and I mean, it wasn't like it was in
- 23:31the eighties or anything like that.
- 23:32It was only in the low seventies, but Hey, he's still, the sun was out.
- 23:35What not?
- 23:36It was nice.
- 23:36But anyways.
- 23:37So, Sunday rolled around, so knowing what was going on since I kind of got a late
- 23:41start Saturday and saw how bad traffic was and how long it took, I got an early start
- 23:46on Sunday and got there pretty easily.
- 23:50Nice and breezy, you know, got in the road with hardly any traffic
- 23:52by the time I got there, because I got there basically first thing.
- 23:55The event didn't, they didn't start letting you in until 9.
- 23:5630, so I got there like around quarter to nine.
- 23:59Um, and there were already a lot of people there, and, which is not surprising.
- 24:04But, you know, we had to wait in line to get in there.
- 24:07Again, I think they could be a little better in regards to how
- 24:10they get people into the, into the field, into the event itself.
- 24:14Um, they had like a main entrance where they have most things, but they had the
- 24:17side one where a lot of people go and they only had two people scanning and this
- 24:22day and age, people are going ticketless.
- 24:23So these scanners trying to read your QR code that's on your
- 24:26phone is a little difficult.
- 24:28Anyways, so you go through and you get in and out.
- 24:31I said, I went into the one side now, depending on which one you went
- 24:34into, where it would dump you out at.
- 24:36So I came in the backside to where the big showcase is where the cars
- 24:39drive up, everything like that.
- 24:40So as soon as they came in, walk around.
- 24:42They had all your brass era, uh, pre war stuff.
- 24:45And I cannot remember for the life of me, cause the guy I first talked
- 24:49to had this gorgeous Packard and he's been on Wayne Carini's, uh,
- 24:56chasing classic cars, his buddy, but you know, he's got all the Packards.
- 25:00And so I, I talked to him for a little bit about it and I could not remember
- 25:04his, um, the life of me, his name.
- 25:12And it was, and it's still driving me nuts.
- 25:13And I'm going to try and look it up.
- 25:16Right now, real quick and see if I can pull it up and
- 25:19yeah, Ralph Ralph is his name.
- 25:21That's it.
- 25:24Anyways, um, he has beautiful package and that was the only
- 25:27one he had there is showing.
- 25:28And, but you know, soon as everyone's come in.
- 25:31So it wasn't crowded yet.
- 25:32So, um, so I chapped him a little bit about it, but this thing was beautiful.
- 25:35Again, I got pictures posted, you know, Instagram, um, got
- 25:38video over there and whatnot.
- 25:39So, uh, check it out, but you know, you go through all the pre war stuff and.
- 25:45These cars are absolutely stunning.
- 25:47I mean, just, but what also gets me is the size of these cars.
- 25:51I mean, these are not small vehicles.
- 25:53I mean, you know, cars this day and age, but God, the cars
- 25:56back then were just massive.
- 25:59And now you could see why they didn't, you know, horsepower wise.
- 26:03It wasn't so much, but they had a lot of torque because these things, you know,
- 26:05getting these behemoths up and going, but I mean, these things were massive.
- 26:09I mean, just these things made statements going down the road.
- 26:12That's for sure.
- 26:13Um, Gomez, that's what they had really cool is I had seen them the day before.
- 26:19And I don't know if they do with the concourse drive or the tour or
- 26:22something like that, that they have.
- 26:24Um, they had Davis, Divins, Divins, however you pronounce that.
- 26:29Um, I know they only made like 14 of them and they had like five of them there.
- 26:32They actually had a prototype Army Jeep one, uh, that they must've submitted
- 26:38for, uh, consideration to the U.
- 26:39S.
- 26:39government.
- 26:40Uh, now if you're not familiar with those, look them up.
- 26:42It's a Davis Divan, D I V A N, uh, it's a three wheeled car, um,
- 26:47it's been on Wayne Carini's show.
- 26:49They've had it, you know, here and there.
- 26:50It's really kind of very streamlined looking.
- 26:52Uh, really cool looking and, but to see that many in one spot, it's kind of crazy
- 26:56because they only made the 14 of them.
- 26:58And I'm not sure all 14 are like in this kind of presented, you
- 27:02know, kind of course level type condition where you could show them.
- 27:05I mean, these things don't get me wrong.
- 27:06These things weren't gonna, you know, win best of show at this thing, but you
- 27:09know, they were pretty decent shape.
- 27:12Um, so, but that was kind of cool checking those out and.
- 27:16Then there was, you know, uh, BMW had brought some cars too, um,
- 27:21which was kind of interesting.
- 27:22They had some older M sixes and that stuff.
- 27:24Uh, but they had a big boost up cause they also had, you know, their brand
- 27:27new cars that were kind of launching.
- 27:28So, and I, you know, trying to push the electric stuff.
- 27:31Um, and then going around the guys from curated had, they're all set up.
- 27:35And you know, that backside was kind of all the same set up and everything too.
- 27:37But the thing I want to get to is.
- 27:41You know, going around is, but I want to get to the Ferrari stuff.
- 27:43Cause Hey, this is a Ferrari marketplace.
- 27:46Uh, don't want to bother you and bore you with the other stuff.
- 27:49But anyways, I thought it was kind of humorous because are funny, humorous.
- 27:55I, however you want to pronounce it, but obviously five years ago when it
- 28:01was the 70th anniversary of Ferrari, they must've had something because.
- 28:06If you've ever been to the Amelia, they have signs like for each beginning of each
- 28:10grouping of cars, you know, nice setup.
- 28:12Well, this one said the 70, 70th anniversary.
- 28:16Why they couldn't update the sign to the 75th, I don't know.
- 28:19I thought that was a big, huge faux pas on their part.
- 28:22Why they didn't update that to the 75th is beyond me.
- 28:26But, no, this wasn't anything like the Cavalino was.
- 28:31Where they had like one from every year, but um, Brian and
- 28:35Kimberly Ross had brought their 1.
- 28:376 mm 1.
- 28:3866 mm there, which was absolutely stunning.
- 28:41Then there was a 250 Tour de France Then you went up to the 275 Yeah, the 1.
- 28:506 mm, the Tour de France, the 250 Tour de France, then the 255 or 275 Then
- 28:57they had a 365, uh, then they had a 288 GTO, then they had the F40, F50, Enzo.
- 29:05And then they had a LaFerrari and then they had the new,
- 29:09uh, Monza, SP Monza there.
- 29:11So they had a nice, you know, set up of the cars and they're stunning.
- 29:14Again, check out the video.
- 29:15I got some shorter ones of just those cars coming up.
- 29:18And what was really cool is they did a Ferrari parade, I guess you would call
- 29:21it, or that's what they were calling it.
- 29:23And that's what kind of neat thing there is, you know, you actually can see these
- 29:25things driving, started up and running.
- 29:27And, you know, they had to come all the way around from the backside over
- 29:30to where they got it because they ran them in front of the grandstands.
- 29:33So I got a great shot, you know, all those four hours lined up running and then
- 29:37getting presented going around driving, you know, they weren't driving fast.
- 29:40I mean, they're driving super slow, like five miles an hour.
- 29:43But anyways, hearing them run.
- 29:44Oh, I'm sorry.
- 29:45And I forgot they had a GTO.
- 29:48Duh.
- 29:48Um, sorry, but mine's the said the ADD always kicks in.
- 29:52But anyways, um, that also had the GTO was there also, um, in between the.
- 29:59250 tour de France and the uh, 275 was the GTO.
- 30:03My bad.
- 30:04Apologies.
- 30:05But anyways.
- 30:07So I got video of them kind of pulling up and everything like that.
- 30:09And then I came back around because I got those coming up and, you know, cause
- 30:12once they got presented, you know, they had to come all the way back around.
- 30:14So I got back on the other side, got a great shot of the two 88 and
- 30:18the F 40 coming back up and running.
- 30:20And, you know, they're just absolutely gorgeous cars.
- 30:22Those are, I have all the Ferraris out there that have been made.
- 30:26I mean, those are probably my two favorites.
- 30:28My first is a two 88 GTO is my all time favorite.
- 30:31And the next was the F 40.
- 30:32I mean, I know it's probably a lot of people's, um, Choices and but I
- 30:37that's what I, you know, grew up, you know, uh, 288 and f40 were, you
- 30:43know, my, you know, poster wall cars.
- 30:45So it's always one.
- 30:46So those are my lottery cars So if I win those depending on how much I win
- 30:49in the lotto I'm getting both of those and then if there's enough that I can
- 30:53obviously get the f50 and the enzo also and just get that whole um, the um,
- 30:59the holy I don't want to say Trinity, cause that's three, but the holy quad,
- 31:04however you want to pronounce it.
- 31:06But anyways, so they did a nice setup with that and have them there.
- 31:09You know, I thought maybe they do a little bit more just because of facts as a 75th
- 31:12anniversary, but there really wasn't.
- 31:14But that was kind of, you know, where people float in,
- 31:17that was the kind of the main.
- 31:20So it was pretty crowded around those cars.
- 31:23Um, now one cool thing is in some other areas they had, uh, the race cars were
- 31:28kind of, they had stuff from Sebring.
- 31:30Um, the Sebring class and, uh, from IMSA and that.
- 31:34So they had some other cars over there.
- 31:36They had a couple of Ferrari race cars.
- 31:38It was pretty cool to see also.
- 31:40So, it was an awesome event.
- 31:42Uh, I really, really had fun attending all the days I was down there.
- 31:46And I, I recommend it highly if you get the opportunity, go to it,
- 31:50attend it, you know, even if you're somewhere across the country, you got
- 31:53to do it's a vacation, what have you.
- 31:55I highly recommend it.
- 31:56I mean, now I will say this, it's not the cheapest of things to go
- 32:00to on Sunday for the event itself.
- 32:02Um, if you buy 150 bucks to get in.
- 32:05Like the other days.
- 32:07Um, you know, like Gooding's thing was, um, 30 bucks to get in, you
- 32:11know, so you can walk around.
- 32:12Uh, Saturday's stuff, they had it, it was dirt cheap to get
- 32:14in, I think it was only 10.
- 32:15But, if you buy a ticket for Sunday's event, that gets
- 32:18you into Saturday's stuff.
- 32:19So, it's not like you gotta buy all these tickets.
- 32:21So, but, I highly, highly recommend attending the event if you've never been.
- 32:25It's well worth the trip.
- 32:26Uh, they do a great job.
- 32:28Now, I know, um, Hager just took it over.
- 32:30So they did a fantastic job, um, and getting this put together I'm sure
- 32:34next year's will have a few things more streamlined and whatnot So hopefully,
- 32:38you know next year when I attend and then you guys go hey be even that
- 32:43much better So anyways, I'm gonna wrap this up I'm gonna probably start also.
- 32:49I've noticed that it seems to be No one's really so much Big on the events,
- 32:55I guess you say you're more interested in the vehicle, specific vehicles
- 32:57itself and maybe more to history.
- 32:59So subsequently.
- 33:02Future episodes, I'm gonna start focusing more on like getting car specific and
- 33:05going through a history of certain cars.
- 33:07Um, I think my next episode I'm going to do, it's going to be on Luigi Cianetti.
- 33:11Uh, we're going to talk about him, uh, and NART, the whole nine yards and how
- 33:15everything came about and you know, how he became, I would say Enzo's best
- 33:19buddy, but, uh, he's basically the one that brought Ferrari to the America.
- 33:23So we're going to do, uh, the next episode on him and talk about that.
- 33:26So give me a few days and I will have that one up.
- 33:28So, but again, I appreciate everybody listening.
- 33:31Uh, share it out there, spread the word, check out the YouTube
- 33:35channel, uh, the Ferrari marketplace.
- 33:37Um, I also have the other ones, uh, 65 motorsports.
- 33:40That, um, has a bunch of other stuff on there.
- 33:43It's, but it's the word 60, then the number five.
- 33:46Uh, so if you want to look that up, check it out.
- 33:47I got a bunch of stuff on there also.
- 33:49So, but, um, hit like, and subscribe there on that channel.
- 33:53Uh, trying to build this thing up and spread the word on the podcast.
- 33:56And if you have any suggestions.
- 33:58Um, you have any thoughts or whatnot, maybe even being on
- 34:01the show, shoot me an email.
- 34:02William at the Ferrari marketplace.
- 34:04com.
- 34:05Uh, I'd love to get feedback.
- 34:06Um, said I'm still just getting this put together, so it's still going
- 34:10to be pretty kind of pretty rough.
- 34:12Um, but I'm working on it.
- 34:13Hopefully I'm getting better.
- 34:14So again, though, I really appreciate everybody listening and everyone.
- 34:18Have a great day until next time.
