Transcript
- 0:06Hi. I'm Jay Fallon, and thank you
- 0:08for listening to the slippery slope.
- 0:10So, here in Australia, we have, if you haven't heard of it, this
- 0:13game called Ozzy rules. So, you have the Australian
- 0:17football league? And it's, I think it's the
- 0:20biggest game in Australia, and they also have a women's league
- 0:25as well. In one of the biggest teams in
- 0:28the Australian football league in AFL is essendon.
- 0:32And one of the big stories today.
- 0:35Is this headline here? I'll read to you from the Sydney
- 0:37Morning Herald. It says I have different views,
- 0:41essendon Chief opens up on controversial Church, So it
- 0:47seems the essendon chief executive, who is just brand new
- 0:52to the job. Andrew thorburn.
- 0:54Admits the Church of which he is, Chairman has views, which
- 0:58are offensive and upsetting to some.
- 1:02But insists, his business record shows, he is welcoming and
- 1:07endorses diversity. So, thorburn has taken charge of
- 1:10the bombers. It's called the Essen.
- 1:12And bombers for you that don't know Australian football, Essen
- 1:15and bombers. Sending a bombers at the end of
- 1:19a tumultuous season for the club but he's appointment has also
- 1:23generated unwanted headlines primarily because of his
- 1:27involvement with the city on a hill Church movement.
- 1:32So the form in a be chief, executive plays, a key role in
- 1:36the church, which in a sermon Likens abortion to a
- 1:42concentration camp and says practicing homosexuality.
- 1:47Is a sin. So, Thor Burns personal beliefs
- 1:50could upset the bombers a FLW side, which is the women's side
- 1:56which preachers diversity, and inclusiveness, as well as the
- 2:00purple bombers, which is apparently the club's official
- 2:04diversity and inclusion supporter group.
- 2:08The Purple bombers were contacted for commented, I think
- 2:11they commented. This is the issue.
- 2:13But when they talk about You know, diversity and inclusion
- 2:18groups. It's really just people who are
- 2:21diverse in their sexual orientation, their sexual
- 2:25orientation, or, or their gender diversity.
- 2:29So it's a Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, you know, he's
- 2:34the, he's the Pinnacle of morality Daniel Andrews.
- 2:39Anyway. He's a bomber supporter.
- 2:41He had a strong response when asked on Tuesday, about the
- 2:44views, expressed, It's always church.
- 2:47But acknowledges the his appointment was a matter for the
- 2:50club's board. He said, those views are
- 2:53absolutely appalling. I don't support those views that
- 2:57kind of intolerance, that kind of hatred bigotry is just wrong.
- 3:02Andrew said, now I'll just remind you Crimea Andrews.
- 3:06Okay, in the heist of the lockdown season for Victoria in
- 3:10the last couple of years in Victoria Australia, you know,
- 3:14Daniel and Who is the Premier locked Melbourne down for one of
- 3:18the longest they had the most lockdowns the longest period of
- 3:22lockdown in the world just about.
- 3:25And also while he was very keen to tell people who wanted to go
- 3:31to church that they weren't allowed to go to church, you
- 3:34know, because covid, all that stuff he didn't mind allowing
- 3:38the lgbtq whatever plus minus sign Center too.
- 3:45Didn't you know it was okay for that to be opened up in the
- 3:49middle of the city but churches you can't open up so this is the
- 3:54type of man who is standing here.
- 3:56The Victorian Premier. Daniel Andrews saying hey these
- 4:00views are disgusting, what the church believes in is
- 4:03disgusting. Anyway, he also goes on to say
- 4:07all of, you know, my views on these things.
- 4:09Yes, we sure do. So those sorts of attitudes are
- 4:12simply wrong and to dress that up, As anything other than
- 4:16bigotry is just obviously false. Now, I'm looked into what the
- 4:20church believes and it just seems like a very stable
- 4:27bible-based, Bible teaching church.
- 4:30That's all. It seems like I couldn't see
- 4:32anything funky or outrageous. It's just a church that believes
- 4:36in the Bible believes in the the fundamentals of the Bible,
- 4:40teaches the Bible, there's nothing outlandish.
- 4:43Outrageous about this church. Except that I also talked about
- 4:50Sin. They acknowledge what sin is.
- 4:54So this is the whole problem, isn't it?
- 4:56With today's modern society, people are always going to be
- 5:00offended by true actual Christianity.
- 5:06It is always going to be offensive.
- 5:09It will always be offensive, true, or actual Christianity.
- 5:14It is offensive because it divides right from wrong, I'll
- 5:19read this from from this website.
- 5:21It says, it's from God's word dot-org.
- 5:23It says, Christians shouldn't be offensive of course but
- 5:28Christianity is inherently offensive.
- 5:32It teaches that people are born broken and cannot fix
- 5:36themselves. However, the world wants to sell
- 5:38so they can fix themselves it also teaches that submission to
- 5:43God is the only solution it teaches that the intelligent,
- 5:47the wealthy, the powerful and the influential aren't
- 5:50necessarily better off than anybody else.
- 5:54It teaches that our best efforts to do good on our own are all
- 5:58but wasted it teaches that legiance to God is more
- 6:03important than allegiance to your family and that if you have
- 6:08to choose you should choose God. It teaches that some actions are
- 6:13wrong even if they feel good it teaches.
- 6:17That the things that we brag about in our selfishness and
- 6:21immature dinner, immaturity are less important.
- 6:24Wouldn't then the things that nobody sees and get no earthly
- 6:28rewards. In other words, it's the kind of
- 6:32thing that a lot of people don't want to hear Christianity is
- 6:36divisive exclusive and difficult as a result.
- 6:41Sometimes Christians offend others by being divisive
- 6:45exclusive and difficult that are need to be this way because
- 6:50Christianity is plenty of ffensive.
- 6:54Without their help. This is the truth Christianity.
- 6:59I think, I agree wholeheartedly for they're saying, Christianity
- 7:03is offensive, especially, especially to a society that
- 7:08believes that they can do everything on their own.
- 7:10That do not want to acknowledge God at all, that believe that we
- 7:17were just, we've just evolved from, who knows what we've
- 7:21evolved from? I read an article the other day
- 7:23where We're scientists now. Say all we evolved from shocks.
- 7:28They can't make up their mind. They don't want to acknowledge
- 7:31that. We are created beings at all and
- 7:34that is why we have such delusion and confusion.
- 7:38In our society, we have a society that believes that you
- 7:41can swap from being male to female and back to male.
- 7:45And it's all just because of the way you feel, we have a society
- 7:49that believes that you can do whatever you want.
- 7:52You can sleep with whatever you want, you can do anything.
- 7:54Thing you want as long as you do not harm or as long as it feels
- 7:58good, we have a society that does not want to hear that.
- 8:02What they want to do may actually be the wrong thing.
- 8:07We have a society that does not want to know, right from wrong.
- 8:12Christianity is offensive and that's why these reporters.
- 8:16That's why this, the Victorian Premier is offended that the CEO
- 8:22of the Australian football club go.
- 8:24To church. That's why they're offended at
- 8:26what? This church preaches talks
- 8:28about? Because this church this city on
- 8:31a hill in Melbourne. Teaches the Bible and that will
- 8:37always be offensive to a world that does not want to know the
- 8:42truth. That is my opinion.
- 8:46Thank you for listening to the slippery slope.
