- 0:00Speaker 1: Thoughts on your performance tonight. I mean, Creton a good
- 0:03Speaker 1: young team, showed a lot of spunk in that first quarter,
- 0:06Speaker 1: but just too much to overcome. When you guys get
- 0:08Speaker 1: rolling offensively, you are fun to watch.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought, you know, it didn't it didn't feel
- 0:15Speaker 2: great in the first quarter. We were a little disjointed.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Our defense was obviously good, but on the offensive end,
- 0:20Speaker 2: we weren't, you know, getting the kinds of shots that
- 0:24Speaker 2: we wanted. We didn't hit the offensive boards at all.
- 0:27Speaker 2: But then I thought the rest of the game, especially,
- 0:31Speaker 2: you know, we go on those runs where you look
- 0:33Speaker 2: up and maybe we're only up fourteen or fifteen, and
- 0:36Speaker 2: the next time you look, we're up thirty. And that
- 0:38Speaker 2: was you know, made a bunch of threes. We shot
- 0:41Speaker 2: the three really well, especially in the second half. Just
- 0:45Speaker 2: got a lot of contributions from a lot of different people.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I thought, you know, Ash didn't play, I mean, didn't
- 0:50Speaker 2: score the first half, but really played a good defensive game.
- 0:53Speaker 2: So it's not only about scoring. It's about what you're
- 0:55Speaker 2: doing to help the team win. And I thought everyone
- 0:57Speaker 2: that played. I thought Janet gave us good. I thought
- 1:00Speaker 2: Sarah Williams was better in the second half, Kaylee, I
- 1:04Speaker 2: thought had a good a good game, a good floor
- 1:06Speaker 2: game as well. So it's not just about the scoring.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And sometimes you want to hurry up and blow a
- 1:12Speaker 2: team out, and you can't always do that. You know,
- 1:14Speaker 2: you sometimes have those for the first quarter like we did.
- 1:17Speaker 2: You have to take a possession at a time and
- 1:21Speaker 2: then you know, we feel like we have that run
- 1:24Speaker 2: in us that's going to be the knockout punch, and
- 1:26Speaker 2: tonight it just came a little bit later.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Talk about the defense of the post players out by
- 1:32Speaker 3: the three point line. You know, you just saw Sarah
- 1:34Speaker 3: Williams out there, John I got it out there for
- 1:37Speaker 3: some blocked shots for shot clock violations. Usually we see
- 1:40Speaker 3: them down in the post doing their damage, but they
- 1:42Speaker 3: were doing pretty good lateral agility movement. Yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, you know a lot of teams in our league
- 1:48Speaker 2: play with five out and they shoot the three, and
- 1:52Speaker 2: so we have to get better at it. And I
- 1:54Speaker 2: thought we've been working on it. It was Jammel's scout.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I thought it was She did a great job with
- 1:59Speaker 2: the scout and we spent a lot of time on
- 2:01Speaker 2: you know, we called the little cluster or the party
- 2:04Speaker 2: where they have three guys on one side and two
- 2:05Speaker 2: on the other, and I thought our big guys did
- 2:08Speaker 2: a much better job, even the guards, Like we watched
- 2:11Speaker 2: film from the first game, and we gave up a
- 2:13Speaker 2: lot of layups and backcuts, and I think there were
- 2:16Speaker 2: only a couple mistakes on those today. We made them
- 2:19Speaker 2: take tough shots, and I thought our defense was terrific.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Zedeker and Buffelli, who have been a
- 2:25Speaker 1: big part of their four game win streak, their combined
- 2:28Speaker 1: three for fourteen tonight, the job on Zeneger was outstanding tonight,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and obviously KK got a lot of that, but it
- 2:34Speaker 1: was a team effort on her tonight, wasn't it.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You know, I think we're trying to get better every day,
- 2:40Speaker 2: and part of it is learning how to play off
- 2:43Speaker 2: the ball as well. Like KK is tremendous on the ball,
- 2:47Speaker 2: but it's more off the ball where we kind of
- 2:49Speaker 2: fall asleep sometimes, not just KK, a lot of us,
- 2:53Speaker 2: the big guys as well. So it's we're trying to
- 2:55Speaker 2: get better and minimize the same mistake, doing the same
- 2:58Speaker 2: mistakes over and over again. And I thought tonight we
- 3:01Speaker 2: did a really good job. If we compared the film
- 3:04Speaker 2: that we watched the first time that we played Creighton
- 3:07Speaker 2: to tonight, will be very very pleased just because we
- 3:10Speaker 2: didn't give up as many of you know, they were
- 3:12Speaker 2: a good team and they cut, but we didn't give
- 3:14Speaker 2: up as many layups that we were just to sleep
- 3:17Speaker 2: at the wheel tonight as we did the other time.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So there's improvement. So that's a good thing.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Listening to you, it sounds and through the season it
- 3:27Speaker 3: sounds like this team really responds. Here's what you want
- 3:30Speaker 3: in scouting reports, able to follow through on just a lot.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Is that maturity? Is it game smart or that all?
- 3:39Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't happen all the time, so they they
- 3:43Speaker 2: do just enough to think, you know, you're making some progress,
- 3:46Speaker 2: and then they want to remind you Nope, no, I
- 3:49Speaker 2: don't remember that. No, I you know, I think everyone knows.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It's the middle of February, so you know, we really
- 3:58Speaker 2: don't have that much time. We can't be made the
- 4:00Speaker 2: same mistakes now that we made in December or even
- 4:02Speaker 2: in January. So I think we're growing as a team
- 4:06Speaker 2: because if you're not getting better, you're getting worse because
- 4:09Speaker 2: other teams are getting better. So we want to continue
- 4:12Speaker 2: to improve first as individuals, and then that allows us
- 4:15Speaker 2: to be a better team and work on the team stuff.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So so far, I think they you know, they've not
- 4:21Speaker 2: lost interests. They've not you know, it's been a long
- 4:25Speaker 2: stretch whatever. They've been good. And I do think getting
- 4:30Speaker 2: back into classes helps because it helps your schedule, it
- 4:34Speaker 2: gives you a different routine, and I think all those
- 4:37Speaker 2: things have helped.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Chris Gino mentioned this, I think after the Butler game,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and he kind of reiterated on The Coaches Show last night.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Obviously you're going to need more from Sarah Williams and
- 4:49Speaker 1: Jen l Loffee as we get towards the end of
- 4:51Speaker 1: the season, especially in the March. What are your thoughts
- 4:54Speaker 1: on their progress so far this season? For those two,
- 4:57Speaker 1: it seems like Jet is getting a little more confident
- 4:59Speaker 1: coming off the concust because she was she was at
- 5:01Speaker 1: a pretty good place before she had the concussion.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Well, you know what, I'm a believer that confidence comes
- 5:07Speaker 2: from hard work and the work that you put in
- 5:10Speaker 2: and practice, and so I think any confidence Jenna is
- 5:13Speaker 2: gaining is that her hard work, both as an individual
- 5:17Speaker 2: and when we're practicing and you know, grasping things and
- 5:21Speaker 2: retaining things and putting it all together. So I think
- 5:24Speaker 2: that really helps her confidence. I think it goes back
- 5:28Speaker 2: to what I said earlier for both Sarah and Janna.
- 5:33Speaker 2: You have to find ways to help our team, and
- 5:36Speaker 2: that is going to be a lot of different things.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And some days it may be scoring some days, you know,
- 5:42Speaker 2: but it can always be rebounding defense. We have to
- 5:45Speaker 2: count on those two as the basis and then figure
- 5:48Speaker 2: out the rest and if they can give us the
- 5:50Speaker 2: minutes that they gave us today and finish in the
- 5:53Speaker 2: lane and give us an offensive rebound. We did not
- 5:57Speaker 2: do a great job offensive rebound today, I know. I mean,
- 5:59Speaker 2: we missed and we shot the ball well, but we
- 6:02Speaker 2: the whole first half. I think we had one and
- 6:04Speaker 2: it was Jana. So those are things that we're looking
- 6:07Speaker 2: at that you know, you can always get better at,
- 6:09Speaker 2: and I think by doing those things and focusing on those,
- 6:12Speaker 2: I think we continue to improve. We'll be in a
- 6:15Speaker 2: better place in March than we are right now with
- 6:17Speaker 2: our with our post play.
- 6:19Speaker 1: All right, off to Milwaukee. We'll see you Saturday.
- 6:21Speaker 2: What's the men's The score of the men's game.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I will give that to you. It's fifty nine fifty
- 6:26Speaker 1: four at the is at the dinner twelve No. Ten
- 6:30Speaker 1: forty eight to sixty one fifty four Huskies nineteen for ball,
- 6:34Speaker 1: he has five threes tonight, both at his homecoming with
- 6:37Speaker 1: thirteen and res thirteen and eight.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well, you know what, I'm still not
- 6:41Speaker 2: used to them going by halves. It's like so odd
- 6:44Speaker 2: to me now that I'm so it's ingrained with the quarters,
- 6:46Speaker 2: so it's always funny when I when I see it.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But okay, thanks you for the update they needed. Yes,
- 6:51Speaker 1: they need to change the quarters
- 6:53Speaker 2: They do opinion, all right, thank you, y
