- 0:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 0:53SPEAKER_12: It is pretty cool.
- 0:54SPEAKER_07: Uh, how was your holiday?
- 0:56SPEAKER_07: It was good.
- 0:57SPEAKER_07: It was good.
- 0:58SPEAKER_07: I forgot how much fun Christmas is when you don't work at the post office.
- 1:03SPEAKER_07: I never even thought of that.
- 1:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05SPEAKER_08: I actually enjoyed it this year.
- 1:06SPEAKER_08: I'm like, ooh, that's fun.
- 1:09SPEAKER_14: This is your first Christmas uh retired, yeah, basically.
- 1:12SPEAKER_07: So I was like, I worked uh I subbed Monday and Tuesday.
- 1:16SPEAKER_07: I really didn't I don't think anybody was out, but they just let me come in and just hang out because they didn't really do anything, right?
- 1:25SPEAKER_07: Especially like Tuesday.
- 1:26SPEAKER_07: You know what I did Tuesday?
- 1:27SPEAKER_07: What?
- 1:28SPEAKER_07: I put together candy cane grams for the sixth grade.
- 1:32SPEAKER_07: Like they printed out, you know, like you send like a candy cane to somebody, you pay like a buck.
- 1:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:37SPEAKER_07: There were over 550 of them.
- 1:40SPEAKER_07: So it was me, the class advisor, another ed tech, and one sixth grader for like three hours were putting, we're tying these little notes to candy canes, putting them in a big box.
- 1:52SPEAKER_07: And you got paid for it.
- 1:53SPEAKER_07: I got paid for it.
- 1:54SPEAKER_07: Awesome.
- 1:55SPEAKER_07: I think somebody was looking for me at one point.
- 1:56SPEAKER_07: They were like, where's so oh yeah, somebody came in and they were like, they were like, hey, you guys are supposed to be in here, and I'm like, I am.
- 2:05SPEAKER_07: They told me to be here.
- 2:09SPEAKER_07: So I was just like, yeah, that's fun.
- 2:12SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 2:12SPEAKER_07: But it was, it was, it was cool to see.
- 2:14SPEAKER_07: Um, I forgot how much fun it is to see kids excited about uh Christmas.
- 2:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 2:21SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 2:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:22SPEAKER_07: I totally I've I've because I haven't seen it in a long time.
- 2:25SPEAKER_07: And that school is K through 12.
- 2:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 2:28SPEAKER_07: So you're pre-K through 12.
- 2:29SPEAKER_07: Yeah, so you just and of course it was a like Tuesday was a half day, so the pre-K stays the entire day.
- 2:35SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 2:35SPEAKER_07: And of course they're like, you know, up to my knee and they're like and you know, I was wearing a Santa Claus t-shirt.
- 2:42SPEAKER_07: Uh-huh.
- 2:43SPEAKER_07: And one of them was like really excited that I was wearing a Santa Claus t-shirt.
- 2:47SPEAKER_07: And I was like, dude, chill.
- 2:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah, just a t-shirt, man.
- 2:50SPEAKER_07: I'm not actually Santa.
- 2:53SPEAKER_07: But I but it was cool.
- 2:54SPEAKER_07: And I uh during lunch I sat with a second grade, with some of the second graders.
- 2:58SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 2:58SPEAKER_07: They were like, Mr.
- 2:59SPEAKER_07: Doug, come have lunch with us.
- 3:00SPEAKER_07: And I was like, so I sat and talked to them.
- 3:02SPEAKER_07: They were they were so excited about, but except for one little girl, she was like, her uncle had passed away like two days before.
- 3:08SPEAKER_07: Oh no.
- 3:09SPEAKER_07: I was like, oh my, he like never woke up or something.
- 3:12SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_07: She didn't she didn't really understand.
- 3:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 3:15SPEAKER_07: So sure.
- 3:16SPEAKER_07: And I was like, oh that's gonna be rough.
- 3:19SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 3:19SPEAKER_07: And then and then another little girl was like, yeah, that happened to me last year.
- 3:23SPEAKER_07: And I was like, oh my freaking word.
- 3:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's yeah.
- 3:26SPEAKER_07: Oh, come on.
- 3:27SPEAKER_12: Well, you know, this year wasn't much better.
- 3:29SPEAKER_07: That yeah, exactly, man.
- 3:31SPEAKER_07: Tragedy.
- 3:31SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_07: Oh man.
- 3:32SPEAKER_07: That kid in uh Washburn.
- 3:33SPEAKER_12: In Washburn.
- 3:34SPEAKER_12: Uh we had a custodian uh and bus driver who was kind of really well loved, young guy, 41.
- 3:41SPEAKER_12: That is really young, had a heart attack and passed away.
- 3:44SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's just last like on Christmas Day.
- 3:46SPEAKER_12: On Christmas Day, Christmas morning, uh, and his uh son who just graduated high school in June was giving him CPR.
- 3:56SPEAKER_12: So Christmas is never gonna be the same for that kid.
- 3:58SPEAKER_12: Absolutely.
- 3:59SPEAKER_12: I mean, it's you know, it's just and it was it when not only that, I mean, one tragedy after another happened.
- 4:06SPEAKER_12: We we lost a friend from town.
- 4:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that was surprising, you know.
- 4:09SPEAKER_07: I got a text and I'm like, they're like, hey, do you know what died?
- 4:13SPEAKER_07: And I'm like, no.
- 4:15SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 4:16SPEAKER_07: You know, apparently they had to the cops had to break into his house because everything was locked up, so I was like, Right.
- 4:22SPEAKER_07: I'm it's very the whole thing's very suspicious.
- 4:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:25SPEAKER_07: But you know, they had to break in to get two of them, but it's like, well, who called in?
- 4:30SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 4:31SPEAKER_07: I mean, to tell them, you know, yeah, somebody had to have been there and then just left him there.
- 4:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:36SPEAKER_12: Come on.
- 4:37SPEAKER_07: So well, it's a little bit suspicious, but you know, I mean, yeah, it's just it was just it was like it was a good week, and then it was a crap week all the same time.
- 4:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:46SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 4:46SPEAKER_12: So in addition to, I mean, all of those tragedies, we had uh we won't spend a lot of time on this, but I just I I do want to um put a shout out to the Blanchard family.
- 4:57SPEAKER_12: We we we always talk about, you know, um sorry Blanchard children, you know, because because they're our neighbors and great friends.
- 5:05SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 5:05SPEAKER_12: And actually uh we're kind of related now because my son married one of them.
- 5:09SPEAKER_07: I was about to say your your your daughter-in-law is one of them.
- 5:13SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 5:13SPEAKER_12: And and um my grandson actually calls them grand grandpa and and grandpa and papa and stuff.
- 5:20SPEAKER_12: So um so let's see, this so Christmas happened and everything was fine, and then that was on a Thursday, is that right?
- 5:29SPEAKER_07: Christmas was It was on a Thursday, I think, wasn't it?
- 5:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:33SPEAKER_12: So um it was our first Christmas without Jude.
- 5:36SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 5:37SPEAKER_12: Right, because he was with his wife and son.
- 5:40SPEAKER_12: And they so selfish.
- 5:42SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 5:43SPEAKER_12: But they were staying in so so the Blanchards have uh kind of a a big old house.
- 5:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:50SPEAKER_12: And uh attached to that house, part of that house really, is a nice apartment.
- 5:55SPEAKER_12: And underneath that apartment, there's a garage.
- 5:58SPEAKER_12: Yeah, small garage.
- 5:59SPEAKER_12: Um, where the boiler is and where a bunch of other things, you know, John does maple syrup and stuff like that, so he's got a machine in there and whatnot.
- 6:07SPEAKER_12: And then they have a detached garage uh next to the house.
- 6:11SPEAKER_12: But anyway, so Kristen and Jude and Peter, baby Peter, were Baby Peter.
- 6:16SPEAKER_12: Carriani said that was creepy.
- 6:21SPEAKER_12: They were uh they were staying baby peepers a nice.
- 6:27SPEAKER_12: So they're staying in the apartment.
- 6:29SPEAKER_12: And um let's see, that was so they so they they were there for Christmas, and they came over to uh our our Nana's great Nana.
- 6:39SPEAKER_12: I call her Nana the Great.
- 6:40SPEAKER_12: Grandma the uh and and they had uh Christmas with us, and then we went to my mother's uh and had Christmas out there.
- 6:49SPEAKER_12: It's the first time I've seen my brother in like a year.
- 6:51SPEAKER_07: I was supposed to say, yeah.
- 6:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't see him very often.
- 6:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_12: Um and that was you know that so that was Christmas.
- 6:57SPEAKER_12: And it was good.
- 6:58SPEAKER_12: I mean, we all we had a we understood that you know Jude was was gonna be with his family and and all that, and then Friday, uh I don't remember what we did Friday.
- 7:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't remember what we did Friday.
- 7:10SPEAKER_12: But so Friday night, so at my age, 52 now, um uh maybe you can relate to this.
- 7:20SPEAKER_12: Uh I I sleep better now because I've uh the I'm I have a Vader machine just like you.
- 7:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:27SPEAKER_12: Um and I I cr I crash about nine o'clock.
- 7:31SPEAKER_12: Uh but I end up getting up at like three or four.
- 7:34SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, every night.
- 7:35SPEAKER_12: Every night.
- 7:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 7:36SPEAKER_12: I go to the bathroom.
- 7:38SPEAKER_12: Uh and so Friday night I uh well, Friday into Saturday, um I got up, went to the bathroom, and because of the sleeping arrangements, because my daughter was here from Ohio, so she was sleeping in Myra's bed.
- 7:55SPEAKER_12: Myra was sleeping on the couch.
- 7:58SPEAKER_12: And so I went out, I went to the bathroom, and I came back, and it was kind of cold in there, so I started up the pellet stove.
- 8:05SPEAKER_12: And um was kind of awake, you know, because I slept six hours.
- 8:11SPEAKER_12: Apparently that's all I can sleep.
- 8:12SPEAKER_12: Um That's all you need.
- 8:14SPEAKER_12: So I sat down and I, you know, do what you do, started scrolling on my phone in the dark.
- 8:19SPEAKER_12: Uh uh right across from Myra, who was on the couch, I was on the love seat.
- 8:23SPEAKER_12: So anyway, it's really dark in there, and then and I'm scrolling, and all of a sudden I hear whimpering.
- 8:32SPEAKER_12: Like right?
- 8:36SPEAKER_12: And I and I look, and you know, there's a window uh between our living room and our kitchen, and I see light, and I thought the bathroom light was on.
- 8:44SPEAKER_12: So I thought for a second I thought Olivia made it past me, went to the bathroom, and was crying or something in the bathroom.
- 8:53SPEAKER_12: Well, what did I notwithstand?
- 8:56SPEAKER_12: That's creepy.
- 8:56SPEAKER_12: It is creepy.
- 8:57SPEAKER_12: And it's just like three o'clock in a morning.
- 8:59SPEAKER_12: It was pitch black, right?
- 9:01SPEAKER_12: And then I realized it's not the bathroom light, it's headlights that are that are kind of reflecting off the windows.
- 9:08SPEAKER_12: And then before I knew it, in the pitch black, my daughter-in-law is standing in my living room crying incessantly, holding her baby.
- 9:19SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 9:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:20SPEAKER_12: So they just came in.
- 9:21SPEAKER_12: They came, she came in.
- 9:22SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:23SPEAKER_12: And uh she's crying, she says, Can you help us?
- 9:26SPEAKER_12: Our house is on fire.
- 9:28SPEAKER_12: And I said, What?
- 9:30SPEAKER_12: And she's crying, of course, she's she woke up Olivia for crying, and of course Teresa comes out.
- 9:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:35SPEAKER_12: And so I, you know, we went outside, and all of the Blanchards, except for John and my son and uh Anna Marie.
- 9:45SPEAKER_12: They were all in the van.
- 9:47SPEAKER_12: And and they didn't have shoes on or socks or all on their PJs.
- 9:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:52SPEAKER_12: Uh so I, you know, took the baby out and we all we brought them all into our living room.
- 9:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:58SPEAKER_12: Crying.
- 9:58SPEAKER_12: They were all crying.
- 9:59SPEAKER_13: Oh, yeah.
- 9:59SPEAKER_12: You know, just scared, scared, scared.
- 10:02SPEAKER_12: All smelled like smoke.
- 10:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:03SPEAKER_12: I mean it was I mean it was pretty bad.
- 10:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:08SPEAKER_12: And so we sat there for I mean, it was a full house and it was chaotic.
- 10:16SPEAKER_12: You know, we broke the ice, the mood was, you know, good.
- 10:21SPEAKER_12: Everybody was we got people laughing and they were telling us what was going on, and they were but they were they were scared because three people were still there.
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: You know, and so and and there was a chance, there was a possibility that it was Jude's fault.
- 10:38SPEAKER_12: Let me explain.
- 10:40SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 10:40SPEAKER_12: So uh I told you they were sitting in the apartment.
- 10:43SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 10:43SPEAKER_12: Well, underneath the apartment is a boiler.
- 10:45SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 10:46SPEAKER_12: John had taught Jude how to put wood in the boiler.
- 10:50SPEAKER_12: And you know, you open it up, you put the wood in, and then the cardboard, and then wait for the cardboard to catch, and then you close the door, but leave it open for a second and then and there was cardboard like feet away from the boiler.
- 11:04SPEAKER_12: And you know, so there was like just you know, they were like, what did you because she told Jude to go down and put some wood in the boiler and he did it.
- 11:14SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 11:14SPEAKER_12: He did what John told him to do.
- 11:17SPEAKER_12: Uh and he's like, it couldn't have been I didn't I did everything right.
- 11:21SPEAKER_12: And so there was a time where he was like, It's my fault.
- 11:24SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 11:25SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 11:26SPEAKER_12: Come to find out, it wasn't.
- 11:28SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 11:30SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:30SPEAKER_12: No, it was not his fault.
- 11:31SPEAKER_12: It was an electrical.
- 11:32SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 11:33SPEAKER_12: Um so what had happened is uh garage door opener, which is right under their apartment.
- 11:40SPEAKER_12: And and someday I want to show you the pictures that John has because it's it's a miracle.
- 11:45SPEAKER_12: Um the garage door opener uh I don't know, uh, was faulty and a spark or something.
- 11:51SPEAKER_12: I don't know what happened, but that's what the fire marshal said.
- 11:54SPEAKER_12: It was that.
- 11:55SPEAKER_12: There was also an old refrigerator there.
- 11:57SPEAKER_12: The wiring was just bad.
- 12:00SPEAKER_12: Um and that was what started the fire.
- 12:03SPEAKER_12: So anyway, the fire was contained in the garage, which is underneath their apartment.
- 12:07SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 12:09SPEAKER_12: And um so Jude uh Kristen called 911.
- 12:17SPEAKER_12: Well, she tried to call her parents, who were right next door.
- 12:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and she called 911.
- 12:22SPEAKER_12: And Jude went and got everybody in the house because they were all sleeping through the smoke detectors.
- 12:29SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 12:29SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 12:30SPEAKER_12: That ain't good.
- 12:31SPEAKER_12: Um Hillary's deaf.
- 12:32SPEAKER_12: I don't know if you knew that or not.
- 12:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I did, don't know.
- 12:34SPEAKER_12: She's basically deaf.
- 12:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:35SPEAKER_12: And so she would have been clueless.
- 12:37SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:37SPEAKER_12: And John was sleeping.
- 12:38SPEAKER_12: And so Jude is pounding on the door and said, get out.
- 12:43SPEAKER_12: There's a fire.
- 12:45SPEAKER_12: And so they just got out.
- 12:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah, literally just grabbed, you know, the kids and and got in the van and came here.
- 12:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:52SPEAKER_12: And so John went down to check the font, you know, to open the open the garage door, which you probably shouldn't have done.
- 12:58SPEAKER_12: Um and uh the fire departments came, you know, put out the fire.
- 13:04SPEAKER_12: And so by nine o'clock the next morning, we had we had everybody stayed up.
- 13:11SPEAKER_12: So we were up at three o'clock in the morning.
- 13:12SPEAKER_12: And so everybody stayed up.
- 13:14SPEAKER_12: And Teresa uh cooked them um eggs and bacon and you know, and got them socks and clothes and stuff like that.
- 13:24SPEAKER_12: And it was uh it was it was good.
- 13:28SPEAKER_12: I mean it was everybody was okay.
- 13:32SPEAKER_12: Well that's the main thing.
- 13:32SPEAKER_12: It is the main thing.
- 13:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:34SPEAKER_12: And come to find out, there's the um apartment is okay.
- 13:40SPEAKER_12: Except for a couple of places.
- 13:42SPEAKER_12: The house is okay.
- 13:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:44SPEAKER_12: The garage is toast.
- 13:46SPEAKER_12: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_12: So interestingly enough, there are a lot of uh things that you know, we were thinking about this.
- 13:53SPEAKER_12: Of course, we're a we're a spiritual family.
- 13:56SPEAKER_12: And I'm gonna rewind a second.
- 14:00SPEAKER_12: So so Jude c bought a house up here.
- 14:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 14:05SPEAKER_12: It's a family house, but he's he's buying it and renovating it and stuff.
- 14:09SPEAKER_12: But there were tenants there, and so they were leaving and they were taking their sweet time.
- 14:17SPEAKER_12: So Jude couldn't get into the house when he wanted to get into the house.
- 14:22SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 14:23SPEAKER_12: Um, because they wanted to be moved in like be like at the beginning of December.
- 14:27SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 14:28SPEAKER_12: And the uh previous tenants didn't move out in time.
- 14:32SPEAKER_12: So he couldn't.
- 14:33SPEAKER_12: So he couldn't stay there.
- 14:35SPEAKER_12: Which is why he was at the apartment at the Blanchards.
- 14:38SPEAKER_12: And because he was at the apartment of the Blanchards, everybody survived.
- 14:47unknown: Right?
- 14:48SPEAKER_07: Well, yeah, if nobody been in that apartment.
- 14:50SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 14:51SPEAKER_07: Who knows what would happen.
- 14:52SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 14:52SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 14:53SPEAKER_12: And uh it would have been worse.
- 14:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 14:55SPEAKER_12: Um maybe everybody would have got out, but there would be a lot more damage.
- 14:58SPEAKER_07: You're right, right.
- 14:59SPEAKER_12: Um and so they're here uh and you know, we give them breakfast and and then we find out they can't go in their house because there was a lot of plastic that burned.
- 15:11SPEAKER_12: You're talking about the blanket.
- 15:12SPEAKER_12: Yep, making the making the smoke toxic.
- 15:14SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 15:15SPEAKER_12: And of course, everything in their house has smoke damage.
- 15:19SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 15:20SPEAKER_12: Um, so uh essentially I mean, some things probably can be salvaged.
- 15:26SPEAKER_12: We we're you know, we're getting clothes and we're washing all the clothes and things like that.
- 15:30SPEAKER_12: Uh just the smoke smell is not coming out of everything.
- 15:33SPEAKER_07: Oh no, i that'll be there for a while.
- 15:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 15:35SPEAKER_07: Especially plastic smoke.
- 15:37SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 15:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 15:38SPEAKER_12: So um but you know, all of the furniture that Jude and Kristen had purchased for the house, the new house, was in uh next to the apartment.
- 15:50SPEAKER_12: So it's all smoke damage.
- 15:51SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 15:52SPEAKER_12: So they pretty much lost it.
- 15:53SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 15:54SPEAKER_12: Um John has pictures though.
- 15:57SPEAKER_12: One of the pictures is of where the fire was.
- 16:03SPEAKER_12: All black metal, twisted metal, you know, just burned, right?
- 16:10SPEAKER_12: In the middle of all of that is a red, pristine boiler.
- 16:19SPEAKER_12: Untouched.
- 16:22SPEAKER_12: That's weird.
- 16:23SPEAKER_12: Untouched.
- 16:25SPEAKER_12: It was like it was it was and it's bright red and it's it's like brand new in the middle of the garage, right?
- 16:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 16:34SPEAKER_12: And there was another picture of the downstairs bathroom in the apartment, because the apartment is two two stories.
- 16:40SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 16:41SPEAKER_12: The downstairs bathroom, which is right above the garage.
- 16:45SPEAKER_12: And I don't know how to explain it.
- 16:47SPEAKER_12: Um, if you think of a bathroom and you know the registers maybe along the wall or whatever.
- 16:52SPEAKER_12: Uh, or even the well, uh the registers along the wall, it looks like black uh fingers are coming up from the registers.
- 17:02SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 17:03SPEAKER_12: Right?
- 17:03SPEAKER_12: So it was getting into the bathroom.
- 17:05SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 17:05SPEAKER_12: Same thing with the bathtub.
- 17:07SPEAKER_12: There were looked like black fingers were holding on to the bathtub and on and on the walls.
- 17:12SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 17:12SPEAKER_12: Before the fire got stopped.
- 17:14SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 17:14SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 17:15SPEAKER_12: So it was amazing, it was a miracle, really.
- 17:18SPEAKER_12: And so not uh, you know, I told you I didn't want to go on for very long.
- 17:22SPEAKER_12: It just kind of it's like all of these things happened.
- 17:25SPEAKER_12: If he if he hadn't Well, it's very all of it's very fortuitous, you know what I mean?
- 17:29SPEAKER_12: If he hadn't, if he had been able to get into his house when he wanted to, he wouldn't have been at the apartment.
- 17:35SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 17:35SPEAKER_12: And the fire would have been worse probably.
- 17:37SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 17:37SPEAKER_07: Especially like you said, the if the smoke alarms were going off and nobody was waking up.
- 17:41SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 17:42SPEAKER_07: I mean, that's that's concerning.
- 17:44SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 17:44SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 17:45SPEAKER_12: And so they're like, well, what are we gonna do?
- 17:48SPEAKER_12: So they're looking for a um um Airbnb to stay at for a few days or a week or whatever.
- 17:55SPEAKER_12: And you know, I'm sending messages to people, do you know of Airbnb?
- 17:58SPEAKER_12: Blah blah blah.
- 17:59SPEAKER_12: And they have a family um timeshare in New Hampshire that just opened up that day.
- 18:09SPEAKER_12: There you go.
- 18:11SPEAKER_12: So that's where they've been.
- 18:12SPEAKER_12: Uh Hillary took most of the kids down to New Hampshire and they've been staying in New Hampshire, and um we've been uh sharing her Venmo.
- 18:21SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 18:21SPEAKER_12: People have been sending her money and she's been buying the kids' clothes.
- 18:24SPEAKER_12: Good.
- 18:24SPEAKER_12: Buying the kids food, and you know, um the community has really, really come together.
- 18:31SPEAKER_12: There's a meal train now.
- 18:32SPEAKER_07: Uh I have no idea what that is.
- 18:34SPEAKER_12: It's uh well it's a it's a schedule.
- 18:36SPEAKER_12: Um my daughter actually put it together, but it's a it's a common thing.
- 18:40SPEAKER_12: It's a schedule where uh on on this day, so and so signs up to provide a meal.
- 18:47SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 18:48SPEAKER_12: Right?
- 18:48SPEAKER_12: And then on this day, somebody else signs up to provide a meal.
- 18:51SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 18:51SPEAKER_12: Or they could donate money too.
- 18:52SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 18:53SPEAKER_12: It's almost like a GoFundMe, but it's it's fo with food.
- 18:55SPEAKER_12: Food, yeah.
- 18:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 18:56SPEAKER_12: Um and we're we're talking about uh starting a give send go, which is better than GoFundMe because they don't take any percentage of it.
- 19:04SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 19:05SPEAKER_12: Um but um yeah, the community has really come together.
- 19:09SPEAKER_12: They've come to us and they said, listen, I have all these boxes of clothes.
- 19:13SPEAKER_12: We want them to have them, go through them if they you know, and so we're gonna kind of organize that and um let me just give her Venmo real quick.
- 19:22SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 19:23SPEAKER_12: Um it is at Hillary, H I L L A R Y dash Blanchard, B-L-A-N-C-H-A-R-D-2.
- 19:34SPEAKER_12: At Hillary dash Blanchard dash two.
- 19:37SPEAKER_12: So if you're inclined to help out, um any any kind of amount.
- 19:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah, ten dollars, you know, whatever, you know, every little bit helps.
- 19:48SPEAKER_12: Um so I don't know when they're gonna get back into their house, but the good news is uh Jude has a big farmhouse.
- 19:55SPEAKER_07: So I was about to say, uh that are those people out yet?
- 19:59SPEAKER_12: They're out, and we've and we've actually been out there this week and last week.
- 20:03SPEAKER_12: Uh Jude has a friend of his that is does like a lot of carpentry work and stuff.
- 20:08SPEAKER_12: So uh I sanded 15 cabinets yesterday.
- 20:12SPEAKER_12: Yay! Uh they're gonna be painted.
- 20:14SPEAKER_12: Um we've painted the bathroom, they put a new shower in.
- 20:18SPEAKER_12: Um we have painted the kitchen and the dining room.
- 20:22SPEAKER_12: Um it's it's getting to a point where it's livable.
- 20:26SPEAKER_12: So uh we just need to get some furniture uh in there and like beds and stuff, and I think if we can get in there sooner rather than later, because Hillary brings the kids back Saturday, and Jude and I are going down to New Hampshire on Saturday to get the rest of his stuff.
- 20:44SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 20:45SPEAKER_12: Um but I think the Blanchards will just move in with Jude and Kristen out at the Ashby farm.
- 20:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 20:51SPEAKER_12: Uh and stay there until they can get into their house.
- 20:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 20:54SPEAKER_12: Um, I went into their house for three seconds to get a package that was delivered for Kristen.
- 21:01SPEAKER_12: I walked in the I walked in, took it off the kitchen table.
- 21:05SPEAKER_12: Three seconds I was in that house in my coat.
- 21:09SPEAKER_07: It didn't take long.
- 21:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 21:11SPEAKER_12: So uh it's gonna be a lot of work to get that house livable again.
- 21:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:16SPEAKER_12: That's gonna be But the good news is is it will be livable again.
- 21:19SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah.
- 21:20SPEAKER_07: I mean, structurally it sounds like it's still okay.
- 21:23SPEAKER_07: It's fine.
- 21:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's fine.
- 21:24SPEAKER_12: Uh and you know the insurance should cover a lot of it, hopefully.
- 21:29SPEAKER_07: Well, I went by on my way here tonight, and it was weird to see the house dark.
- 21:34SPEAKER_07: Well, there was lights upstairs.
- 21:37SPEAKER_07: I don't know if there was like batteries or something battery lights or something.
- 21:41SPEAKER_12: Maybe they had to turn the electricity off.
- 21:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's what I thought.
- 21:44SPEAKER_07: So I think it's like battery operated lights.
- 21:46SPEAKER_07: Maybe.
- 21:46SPEAKER_07: But they're up in a upstairs window.
- 21:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 21:49SPEAKER_07: I saw that.
- 21:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah, maybe it was a little weird, but unless John was there.
- 21:52SPEAKER_07: I I doubt it because it looked like more like decorative.
- 21:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 21:55SPEAKER_07: Didn't look like they were moving around, it's just they were like static in the window.
- 21:58SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 21:59SPEAKER_07: But the rest of the The house was completely dark.
- 22:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you wouldn't know if you drove by, you wouldn't know anything happened.
- 22:03SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 22:04SPEAKER_07: Because the garage, I mean everything else looks everything the outside looks perfectly fine.
- 22:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah, the garage doors closed.
- 22:08SPEAKER_12: Uh all the damage is in the garage.
- 22:10SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 22:10SPEAKER_12: Really, and and the ceiling and everything.
- 22:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 22:13SPEAKER_12: But I mean, it was a lot of uh kind of things fell into place.
- 22:17SPEAKER_12: Uh well, God is good, man.
- 22:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah, man, for sure.
- 22:20SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 22:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 22:21SPEAKER_07: It could have been way worse.
- 22:22SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 22:22SPEAKER_12: Way worse.
- 22:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 22:24SPEAKER_12: So um John is staying with his sister and Anna Marie's staying with John because she's got basketball and stuff like that.
- 22:30SPEAKER_12: So but all the other kids are down in New Hampshire and they'll be back on Saturday.
- 22:34SPEAKER_12: So all is well right now.
- 22:36SPEAKER_12: Again, we get the meal train going.
- 22:38SPEAKER_12: Um so Hillary started a group on Facebook because she's quite a writer.
- 22:47SPEAKER_07: Uh yeah, I I I woke up Saturday and I'm scrolling through and I see this.
- 22:51SPEAKER_07: You got invited to a group.
- 22:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 22:53SPEAKER_07: I was like, by Hillary.
- 22:55SPEAKER_07: And I'm like, what is what is this?
- 22:56SPEAKER_07: That's how I found out.
- 22:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 22:57SPEAKER_07: So I was like, oh, wow.
- 23:01SPEAKER_12: You can look that up on Facebook, and there's updates about you know their progress and everything uh on there as well.
- 23:07SPEAKER_12: I was confused when I first read what she wrote.
- 23:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I was a little like, Well because and I and I mentioned that to her daughter, and I was like, what is it?
- 23:14SPEAKER_12: It's just like, well, she just kind of spurts things out.
- 23:19SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think it was like venting, yeah.
- 23:21SPEAKER_07: Just kind of like getting it all out there.
- 23:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 23:23SPEAKER_12: So so some of those the the sequ it's out of sequence for sure.
- 23:27SPEAKER_12: But uh it's all there, you know.
- 23:29SPEAKER_12: So if you are interested in in uh reading that and and finding out about it and helping out, that would be fantastic.
- 23:35SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 23:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah, absolutely.
- 23:37SPEAKER_12: She's a uh fervent O'Brien and Doug listener, by the way.
- 23:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's why that's where we're always like when we say something objectional, we're always like, sorry, Blanchard children.
- 23:46SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 23:46SPEAKER_07: You know, yeah, I bet we because we know they're they they're listening at some point.
- 23:50SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 23:50SPEAKER_12: So yes, yes, it's part of their curriculum.
- 23:53SPEAKER_07: So they're kind of they're kind of like part they're part of the O'Brien and Doug family.
- 23:57SPEAKER_07: Oh, for sure.
- 23:58SPEAKER_12: Oh, for sure.
- 23:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 23:59SPEAKER_12: Oh, speaking of the O'Brien and Doug family.
- 24:02SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 24:02SPEAKER_12: I wanted to show you.
- 24:03SPEAKER_12: I I know I sent you a picture, but I wanted uh I got a gift from cousin Larry.
- 24:08SPEAKER_12: Cousin Larry.
- 24:08SPEAKER_12: Uh, which um I don't know if I told you uh the letter that he wrote.
- 24:15SPEAKER_12: Did I tell you about the letter that he wrote?
- 24:16SPEAKER_12: Negative.
- 24:17SPEAKER_12: Okay, so you just sent the pictures.
- 24:19SPEAKER_12: So I've uh been looking for vinyl version of uh Thin Lizzie Live and Dangerous.
- 24:26SPEAKER_12: It's what it's an album I'm I really want.
- 24:28SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 24:29SPEAKER_12: Um and so he knew that because of course he listens to the podcast.
- 24:35SPEAKER_12: So he put a bug in the ear of a local record guy and says, So when you get Thin Lizzie Live and Dangerous in, let me know because I want to pick it up.
- 24:45SPEAKER_12: So he was really excited when the guy called and said we got Thin Lizzie Live in.
- 24:49SPEAKER_12: So he said, Awesome.
- 24:51SPEAKER_12: So he went down to pick it up, and it's not Thin Lizzie Live and Dangerous, it's just live.
- 24:57SPEAKER_12: It's Thin Lizzie, uh specially priced live two record set.
- 25:01SPEAKER_12: But dude, uh still nice, man.
- 25:04SPEAKER_12: Well, listen to this.
- 25:06SPEAKER_12: Um he also said that you know, so when I do get live and dangerous, I'm gonna send that one too.
- 25:11SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 25:12SPEAKER_12: Uh and I you don't have to do that, but thanks, man.
- 25:15SPEAKER_12: Um this uh this lineup is Phil Lineup, Brown, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, and Darren Wharton.

- 26:00SPEAKER_07: They are.
- 26:00SPEAKER_07: I don't I don't care where they are.
- 26:02SPEAKER_12: It's true.
- 26:03SPEAKER_12: You know, it's so true.
- 26:04SPEAKER_07: I miss liner notes.
- 26:06SPEAKER_12: Me too.
- 26:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah, me too.
- 26:09SPEAKER_12: Isn't that cool?
- 26:10SPEAKER_07: That's awesome, man.
- 26:12SPEAKER_07: So I got that, and I was just like and it's in really good shape.

- 26:16SPEAKER_07: I don't know, I don't know how the can I look at the yeah, yeah.

- 26:38SPEAKER_07: That's right, that's right.
- 26:39SPEAKER_12: I was just teasing it.
- 26:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I know.
- 26:40SPEAKER_07: That's okay.
- 26:41SPEAKER_07: I don't expect anything.
- 26:43SPEAKER_12: Um I'm putting it back in its in its house.
- 26:47SPEAKER_12: We used to do this when we were kids.
- 26:49SPEAKER_12: I know Bob and I did.
- 26:50SPEAKER_12: And I think you I think you took part a couple of times.

- 27:15SPEAKER_07: Did you know pom-poms were put on hats to protect your head from falling ice and snow?
- 27:21SPEAKER_12: I did not know that.

- 28:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 28:32SPEAKER_12: So um, but my kids made up pretty well too, I think.

- 28:47SPEAKER_12: Practical.
- 28:47SPEAKER_12: I did get my wife uh um a practical gift.
- 28:51SPEAKER_12: Of course.
- 28:52SPEAKER_12: We talked about this last week, and she actually finally listened to the podcast and was was not incredibly happy with with the way I reacted to my birthday present.
- 29:02SPEAKER_07: Um, oh yeah, it's in my car.
- 29:06SPEAKER_12: It's in my car.
- 29:07SPEAKER_12: Uh so the word practical has been tossed around for the last week and a half or so.
- 29:12SPEAKER_12: Ah, yes.
- 29:12SPEAKER_12: Um, but I did, I got her a practical gift because she's always cold.
- 29:16SPEAKER_12: So I got her a blanket, but it's not just any blanket, it is a uh weighted blanket.
- 29:25SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 29:26SPEAKER_12: Uh 15 pounds, I think.
- 29:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 29:28SPEAKER_12: And dude.
- 29:31SPEAKER_12: Maybe I got it for me.
- 29:32SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 29:33SPEAKER_12: But I've been you because she sleeps, you know, with it.
- 29:35SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 29:36SPEAKER_12: Um, I sleep so much better with that.
- 29:38SPEAKER_12: With a weighted blanket.
- 29:40SPEAKER_12: I don't understand the concept.
- 29:41SPEAKER_12: I don't either, but uh I like it anyway.
- 29:44SPEAKER_12: Is it like is it like a like a I don't know what is weight is the the weight is.

- 30:10SPEAKER_08: No, I said you.
- 30:12SPEAKER_07: No, no, no.
- 30:13SPEAKER_07: I was very careful to say you.
- 30:14SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 30:15SPEAKER_07: That's what I thought.
- 30:16SPEAKER_07: I know.
- 30:16SPEAKER_07: Homie don't play that.
- 30:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah, homie don't play that, but homie spoons with me, of course.
- 30:22SPEAKER_08: Well, that's a different story.
- 30:24SPEAKER_08: I've known you a lot longer than she has.
- 30:26SPEAKER_08: That's true.
- 30:28SPEAKER_08: Yes, that's true.
- 30:29SPEAKER_08: Touche.
- 30:31SPEAKER_12: Um, so I, you know, I think uh she likes it.
- 30:35SPEAKER_12: She's told me that she likes it.
- 30:36SPEAKER_12: Good.
- 30:36SPEAKER_12: Which is um a lot.
- 30:38SPEAKER_12: It's not heated or anything.
- 30:39SPEAKER_12: It's not heated, it's not heated.
- 30:41SPEAKER_12: Although we did oh, that's the other thing that I got.
- 30:43SPEAKER_12: Um Teresa's brother, Tim, got me a nice uh winter jacket that's heated.
- 30:50SPEAKER_12: Oh, is it like the battery in there?
- 30:51SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's got a battery, yeah.
- 30:52SPEAKER_12: And Teresa got a winter vest from him that's heated.
- 30:55SPEAKER_07: Oh, nice.
- 30:55SPEAKER_07: You know, so it's kind of cool.
- 30:56SPEAKER_07: That's cool.
- 30:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 30:57SPEAKER_07: That that I mean that would come in handy like like a day like today.
- 31:00SPEAKER_07: Yes, absolutely.
- 31:01SPEAKER_07: Like out snowblowing, man.
- 31:03SPEAKER_07: That would be yeah.
- 31:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 31:04SPEAKER_12: Yep, for sure.
- 31:05SPEAKER_12: Uh let's see what else that happened.
- 31:08SPEAKER_12: Uh that's a lot.
- 31:10SPEAKER_12: Uh oh, and then my daughter flew back uh this morning.
- 31:14SPEAKER_07: I was about to say I saw her on Instagram, she was uh she was at the airport.
- 31:18SPEAKER_12: I don't know what airport the traveling for her is you know, coming home for her is just a headache.
- 31:23SPEAKER_12: It really is because uh well uh we were at the airport this morning at four o'clock.
- 31:29SPEAKER_12: She flew out of Prescow.
- 31:31SPEAKER_12: Prescott.
- 31:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 31:32SPEAKER_12: We were at the airport at four o'clock.
- 31:34SPEAKER_12: Uh she got on the plane at uh I think they were aboarding the plane at 5 15.
- 31:43SPEAKER_12: And they were supposed to leave at 5 50.
- 31:47SPEAKER_12: So they got on the plane on time.
- 31:50SPEAKER_12: And so what we normally do is we get in the car and we go sit in the car and wait for the plane to take off, which is the thing.
- 31:56SPEAKER_12: And uh they sat there and they sat there and we're texting her.
- 32:00SPEAKER_13: Oh, we have to de-ice the plane.
- 32:02SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah, that makes sense.
- 32:03SPEAKER_13: Like, why don't they do that before people get on the plane?
- 32:05SPEAKER_13: You would think so.
- 32:06SPEAKER_12: And so she left at seven.
- 32:09SPEAKER_12: Holy cow and missed her flight in Boston.
- 32:14SPEAKER_12: Ah, yeah.
- 32:14SPEAKER_12: Her connecting flight, because she was she was flying to Boston, then Boston to Pittsburgh.
- 32:18SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 32:18SPEAKER_12: Missed it.
- 32:20SPEAKER_12: Uh it was their fault.
- 32:21SPEAKER_12: Well, it was the weather's fault, really.
- 32:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but um, it was so uh she had to book another flight.
- 32:30SPEAKER_12: And so the only flight that was available was uh going to JFK in New York at like eleven.
- 32:38SPEAKER_12: So she she got to Boston at like 9 a.m.
- 32:41SPEAKER_12: 8:30, 9 o'clock, something like that.
- 32:44SPEAKER_12: And uh the plane to New York left at 11.
- 32:49SPEAKER_12: So she's like, oh I gotta go to New York.
- 32:51SPEAKER_12: But I you know, gotta so she's went to JFK, but the flight from New York to Pittsburgh leaves at 10 o'clock tonight.
- 33:01SPEAKER_12: So she's in JFK from eleven o'clock until ten o'clock.
- 33:06SPEAKER_07: That's probably where she sent the picture from.
- 33:09SPEAKER_12: Okay, that makes more sense.
- 33:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah, so So she's stuck at JFK.
- 33:12SPEAKER_12: She's stuck at JFK and and she's gonna get in Pittsburgh at like midnight, so somebody's gonna have to come get her at midnight.
- 33:17SPEAKER_12: Jeez.
- 33:18SPEAKER_12: You know, so it's just crazy.
- 33:19SPEAKER_12: It is, you know, but every it happens every time.
- 33:21SPEAKER_12: And as we're sitting at the airport, they have this uh uh TV screen.
- 33:27SPEAKER_12: You've heard about the new airport we're getting.
- 33:29SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 33:30SPEAKER_07: It's stupid.
- 33:31SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I don't understand why, because we only get like one or two flights a day.
- 33:36SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 33:37SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 33:38SPEAKER_07: And why do we need a multi-million dollar airport?
- 33:40SPEAKER_12: And it it's it's ridiculous.
- 33:42SPEAKER_12: Uh in all in addition, what's ridiculous is we're spending all this money on this airport, and you still have to walk to the airplane.
- 33:52SPEAKER_07: Yeah, dumb, man.
- 33:54SPEAKER_07: It's so dumb.
- 33:55SPEAKER_07: It's so dumb.
- 33:56SPEAKER_07: And they're not upgrading the runway, I assume.
- 33:58SPEAKER_07: No, it's just no, just the terminal, right?
- 34:00SPEAKER_07: Just the terminal.
- 34:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 34:01SPEAKER_12: And it looks pretty good.
- 34:03SPEAKER_07: Well, I mean, I've seen I've seen, you know, artist conception drawings of it, and I'm like, well, okay, that's you know, that's putting, you know, that's a polishing a turd, I guess.
- 34:12SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 34:12SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 34:13SPEAKER_07: I yeah, I don't know.
- 34:14SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 34:15SPEAKER_07: I mean, I'm I'm not saying that our airport is great right now.
- 34:18SPEAKER_12: It's not, it's not, but it serves the purpose.
- 34:20SPEAKER_12: It's tiny because we're a tiny community.
- 34:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I mean, it's not like we're you know getting thousands of people through there a day.
- 34:27SPEAKER_07: I mean if you get two planes a day, it's like wow.
- 34:30SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it would be nice to have more flights.
- 34:32SPEAKER_12: Uh oh, yeah.
- 34:33SPEAKER_12: You know, but just does is this a case of if you build it, they will come?
- 34:38SPEAKER_12: That type of thing?
- 34:39SPEAKER_12: Who knows, man?
- 34:40SPEAKER_12: I don't know, man.
- 34:41SPEAKER_07: I mean, it's it's the most major airport north of Bangor.
- 34:45SPEAKER_07: Yes, but well, I mean, I don't know how big Holton is.
- 34:47SPEAKER_12: No, it's it's it is, it's bigger than Holton.
- 34:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I thought it was.
- 34:50SPEAKER_07: I mean, well, it's not as big as Loring.
- 34:52SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 34:52SPEAKER_07: I mean, because that used to have B-52s on it.
- 34:54SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 34:55SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 34:55SPEAKER_07: So I mean, I don't know why they didn't do that.
- 35:00SPEAKER_07: Turn Loring.
- 35:01SPEAKER_07: Turn Loring into a Turn Loring into an airport.
- 35:03SPEAKER_07: You would think.
- 35:04SPEAKER_07: I mean, they got the room, they got the buildings.
- 35:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 35:07SPEAKER_07: I mean, that makes sense.
- 35:08SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 35:08SPEAKER_07: I mean, I think they're still storing nuclear weapons there, but uh, you know, and I think there might be an alien spacecraft down there somewhere, but that's just me speculating.
- 35:20SPEAKER_07: Do not take anything I said seriously.
- 35:24SPEAKER_07: I don't want men in black showing up in my house.
- 35:26SPEAKER_12: Uh speaking of men in black, we were just at uh a bunch of basketball games today.
- 35:31SPEAKER_12: We had four basketball games.
- 35:32SPEAKER_12: Jeez.
- 35:33SPEAKER_12: Um both JV teams, both varsity teams.
- 35:36SPEAKER_12: Oh, that makes sense.
- 35:36SPEAKER_12: And uh so during the girls' varsity, uh, the coach of MDI, uh, he chews gum, well, you know, not which is not, you know, uncommon, but he's chewing gum and he's yelling at the girls on the court and blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 35:50SPEAKER_12: And when they do something wrong, he'd be like, right?
- 35:54SPEAKER_12: He looks just like Vincent D'Nofrio in Men and Bull.
- 35:58SPEAKER_12: After he was inhabited by the alien.
- 36:01SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 36:01SPEAKER_12: He looks just like him.
- 36:03SPEAKER_12: Sugar.
- 36:04SPEAKER_12: Sugar.
- 36:08SPEAKER_12: I would I was watching him, I wasn't watching the game.
- 36:11SPEAKER_12: Every time they make a mistake, I'd look over him.
- 36:13SPEAKER_12: Sugar, sugar.
- 36:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 36:16SPEAKER_08: That's too funny, man.
- 36:18SPEAKER_12: Uh let's see.
- 36:18SPEAKER_12: What else?
- 36:19SPEAKER_12: What else?
- 36:20SPEAKER_12: What else?
- 36:20SPEAKER_12: So, yeah, it was uh interesting uh week or so.
- 36:24SPEAKER_07: Well, I did I did get a new Xbox.
- 36:26SPEAKER_07: You did?
- 36:26SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 36:27SPEAKER_07: Well, my my my Xbox One is now defunct.
- 36:31SPEAKER_07: You can't play games on it anymore because it none of the games are supported on it.
- 36:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah, that's how they get you.
- 36:36SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 36:36SPEAKER_14: That's how they get it.
- 36:37SPEAKER_07: I got a new Xbox anyway.
- 36:38SPEAKER_14: You bought it or somebody got it for you as a gift?
- 36:40SPEAKER_07: I got it.
- 36:40SPEAKER_07: That's a it's a gift.
- 36:41SPEAKER_07: Oh, nice.
- 36:42SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 36:42SPEAKER_07: Nice.
- 36:43SPEAKER_07: I I was I very much like it.
- 36:45SPEAKER_07: Well, everything's is there's no longer you know how you used to get the game and put it in and play.
- 36:50SPEAKER_07: It's all digital now.
- 36:52SPEAKER_12: Of course it is.
- 36:52SPEAKER_12: So it's like you you have high speed out there, right?
- 36:55SPEAKER_12: Well, we got Starlink.
- 36:56SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 36:56SPEAKER_12: So that's kind of that's high speed, right?
- 36:58SPEAKER_07: Dude, it is amazing.
- 36:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 37:00unknown: Yeah.
- 37:01SPEAKER_07: I was surprised.
- 37:02SPEAKER_07: I was I was skeptical.
- 37:04SPEAKER_07: I was skeptical about Starlink.
- 37:06SPEAKER_12: Really?
- 37:06SPEAKER_07: But once we got it, I was like, we have ne we've had it since August.
- 37:10SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 37:11SPEAKER_07: Twice it's it's gone down, but only for like 10 minutes.
- 37:16SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 37:17SPEAKER_07: Twice in four months.
- 37:18SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 37:19SPEAKER_07: Otherwise, and it's fast.
- 37:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 37:23SPEAKER_07: It is so fast.
- 37:24SPEAKER_07: I'm like, I don't even know what to do.
- 37:25SPEAKER_07: See, Elon knows what he's doing.
- 37:27SPEAKER_07: I know, man.
- 37:28SPEAKER_07: I uh somebody on Facebook, one of my Facebook friends, was like, oh, just getting some opinions who who of who has Starlink?
- 37:35SPEAKER_07: And everybody was like, Yeah, it's great.
- 37:36SPEAKER_07: Everybody's got it.
- 37:37SPEAKER_07: And I put it on, I was like, Yeah, I get it, you're gonna love it.
- 37:39SPEAKER_07: One person was like, I'm not gonna get Starlink because I'm not gonna give my money to Elon Musk.
- 37:43SPEAKER_07: No, no, no, and I'm like, come on.
- 37:46SPEAKER_12: Listen, in all those uh tragedies, like the like the the um um in North Carolina, the the hurricane and all that stuff like that.
- 37:57SPEAKER_12: Elon Musk is the first one to come in and offer Starlink too.
- 38:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah, too.
- 38:01SPEAKER_07: And it's an amazing thing.
- 38:02SPEAKER_07: It is.
- 38:02SPEAKER_07: Did you hear the story about the it was somebody on a Navy ship, they brought it on a ship, right?
- 38:08SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 38:09SPEAKER_07: They got Starlink on a ship.
- 38:11SPEAKER_07: They're not supposed to because you can track it.
- 38:14SPEAKER_12: Oh I didn't realize that.
- 38:16SPEAKER_07: They found out and they were like, but yeah, they hooked it up on they had it on a navy ship, and they were just it was just like a bunch of just like it was like a select group of people knew about they could use it.
- 38:29SPEAKER_07: But I mean it was like you can put it on a ship in the middle of the freaking ocean and it's working awesome.
- 38:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah you know what I mean?
- 38:35SPEAKER_07: I mean, yeah, I mean, you can think what you want about Elon Musk, but if it freaking works, use it.
- 38:42SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 38:43SPEAKER_07: It's I mean, I can't, I have nothing bad to say about Starlink.
- 38:46SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 38:47SPEAKER_07: Because it is awesome.
- 38:48SPEAKER_07: If anybody if you and it's faster than anything else out there.
- 38:54SPEAKER_12: Not faster than uh fiber optic.
- 38:57SPEAKER_07: Well, fiber, but not everybody can get fiber optic.
- 38:59SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 39:00SPEAKER_12: We just got Thanks Obama.
- 39:02SPEAKER_12: We just got broadband, yeah, which is s fiber optic.
- 39:06SPEAKER_12: Um and it's I mean, well, down here it doesn't work all the time, but but you know, we have high-speed internet, basically, you know.
- 39:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 39:14SPEAKER_07: Um it's way better than what you had.
- 39:16SPEAKER_12: So we have to thank your sister Amy, actually, because speaking of consoles, uh Eli Eli felt the need to sell his PS4 because he wanted the money and he didn't play it a lot over the summer because he was busy.
- 39:31SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 39:31SPEAKER_12: And so he said, I'm just gonna sell that and and take the money.
- 39:34SPEAKER_12: So he sold it, but then he didn't have anything to play.
- 39:38SPEAKER_07: So he didn't think that one through.
- 39:40SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 39:41SPEAKER_12: And so the only the only console that we used to have was the Wii, because we did it as a family, and but Olivia took the Wii out to Ohio.
- 39:51SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 39:51SPEAKER_12: And so he's like mad at her for taking the Wii out to Ohio.
- 39:54SPEAKER_12: So um my brother-in-law Tim kept his Wii down to Nana's house.
- 40:00SPEAKER_12: So Eli found out and he's he saw it, and he's like, Nana, can I can I take that?
- 40:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I don't use it.
- 40:06SPEAKER_12: You can take it home.
- 40:07SPEAKER_12: Uncle Tim says it's okay, you know, whatever.
- 40:09SPEAKER_12: So he took it home and he he's only but he's only got one nunchuck.
- 40:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 40:14SPEAKER_12: And he says, I need a controller and and another nunchuck.
- 40:18SPEAKER_12: I said, Okay, well, go to Catholic charities or or you know, go look on marketplace.
- 40:23SPEAKER_12: So he's on marketplace on Facebook, you know, looking for we stuff.
- 40:28SPEAKER_12: So finally I put a call out on Facebook.
- 40:31SPEAKER_12: Listen, listen, does anybody have any Wii controllers or whatever?
- 40:35SPEAKER_12: Uh you'd be making a teenager very happy.
- 40:38SPEAKER_12: And of course, your sister's like, Oh, I got some stuff he can take, he can have.
- 40:41SPEAKER_12: So and you brought it over tonight and you saw him light up when you gave it to him.
- 40:45SPEAKER_07: So yeah, she she texted me this afternoon.
- 40:46SPEAKER_07: She's like, Are you going to Bryan's name?
- 40:48SPEAKER_07: I'm like, Yeah.
- 40:48SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 40:49SPEAKER_07: She's like, Can you stop by those?
- 40:50SPEAKER_07: I got some stuff for him.
- 40:51SPEAKER_07: And I was like, What do you what does she get for Bryan?
- 40:54unknown: What?
- 40:55SPEAKER_07: So I so sorry.
- 40:57SPEAKER_07: I went to her house and I picked it up.
- 40:58SPEAKER_07: You know, she she was waiting for me and gave me the stuff.
- 41:01SPEAKER_07: I brought it out here and I I walked past Eli.
- 41:04SPEAKER_07: He was out shoveling.
- 41:05SPEAKER_07: I got in here and I was like, Oh, oh, here's some stuff for my sister.
- 41:08SPEAKER_07: And he's like, Oh, that's for Eli.
- 41:09SPEAKER_07: And I'm like, What is going on?
- 41:13SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 41:13SPEAKER_12: Um They don't make stuff for the Wii anymore.
- 41:16SPEAKER_12: It's like outdated.
- 41:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I was like, I I I I I didn't even peek push that uh piece that together until like you you you mentioned it.
- 41:24SPEAKER_07: I was like, Yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 41:25SPEAKER_07: I haven't seen any advertisement for Wii or anything like that for like years.
- 41:29SPEAKER_12: They stopped making stuff.
- 41:31SPEAKER_12: So so he's I mean, it's like um what what what was the thing that he was doing the other day?
- 41:38SPEAKER_12: I can't remember, but I just can't get over that theme song.
- 41:43SPEAKER_12: Have you ever?
- 41:44SPEAKER_07: Oh, the thing the the the Wii theme song?
- 41:49SPEAKER_12: I got pissed off at the Wii uh because we had the Wii fit and I stood out on time and said, You are obese.
- 41:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 41:57SPEAKER_07: Screw you.
- 41:58SPEAKER_07: I was like, Am I at the doctor's office?
- 41:59SPEAKER_07: What's going on?
- 42:00SPEAKER_07: I never I'm never getting on you again.
- 42:02SPEAKER_07: Even my doctor doesn't even say that.
- 42:04SPEAKER_07: Because he knows I'll kick the crap out of him.
- 42:08SPEAKER_07: I like you.
- 42:09SPEAKER_07: I like you, Dr.
- 42:09SPEAKER_07: Bachari.
- 42:10SPEAKER_07: You're awesome.
- 42:11SPEAKER_07: Rock on.
- 42:12SPEAKER_12: Uh so yeah, uh, like I said, it's been an interesting couple of weeks, uh, anyway, or at least last weekend was was was pretty interesting.
- 42:19SPEAKER_12: And like so Jude and I are driving down on Saturday to get the rest of his stuff.
- 42:24SPEAKER_12: Sweet.
- 42:25SPEAKER_12: Uh I think we're staying the night, but uh all I care about is I'm going to Bull Moose.
- 42:30SPEAKER_12: Either on the way down or on the way back.
- 42:31SPEAKER_07: That's what I'm saying.
- 42:32SPEAKER_07: Whatever.
- 42:33SPEAKER_07: You have your choice of Bull Moose as well.
- 42:34SPEAKER_07: I have my choice.
- 42:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 42:35SPEAKER_07: There's two or three down.
- 42:36SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 42:37SPEAKER_07: One of Waterville and Portland, right?
- 42:39SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 42:39SPEAKER_07: Waterville, Portland, Bangor.
- 42:41SPEAKER_07: Bangor, of course.
- 42:42SPEAKER_12: Uh I think there's one.
- 42:43SPEAKER_07: There's one on the coast, right?
- 42:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I think so.
- 42:44SPEAKER_12: We're not going on the coast though.
- 42:46SPEAKER_12: No.
- 42:46SPEAKER_12: But anyway, um, so yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_12: It was an interesting Christmas.
- 42:50SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 42:51SPEAKER_12: But everybody is well.
- 42:52SPEAKER_07: So that's that's all that matters, man.
- 42:53SPEAKER_07: That's all that matters.
- 42:54SPEAKER_07: God is good.
- 42:55SPEAKER_12: God is good.
- 42:56SPEAKER_12: Let's get to uh what we're what the podcast is about, as we're now 42 minutes.
- 43:03SPEAKER_12: Well, here we are.
- 43:05SPEAKER_12: It's the next day.
- 43:06SPEAKER_08: Happy New Year, everybody.
- 43:08SPEAKER_12: Um, I want to talk about a couple of things.
- 43:11SPEAKER_12: First thing I want to talk about is um Vinny Vincent.
- 43:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah, what the frick is up with this, man?
- 43:17SPEAKER_12: So if if you don't know who Vinny Vincent is, um when KISS um it was when they first lost the makeup, right?
- 43:25SPEAKER_12: They got out of the makeup, or was he in makeup first?
- 43:28SPEAKER_12: He might have been in makeup first.
- 43:29SPEAKER_07: I think he was in makeup first, uh, but then they switched from makeup to no makeup, so right.
- 43:34SPEAKER_12: So Vinny Vincent replaced Ace Fraley for a short stint in KISS uh on guitar.
- 43:40SPEAKER_12: And um it didn't last.
- 43:43SPEAKER_12: I think he was there for two or three albums, um and then was either fired or left, or the I can't remember really what happened there.
- 43:53SPEAKER_12: Um, but he wasn't in KISS anymore.
- 43:54SPEAKER_12: He started the Vinnie Vincent invasion, which actually had Oh yeah, I remember that.
- 43:58SPEAKER_12: Mark Slaughter was the one.
- 44:00SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he was the uh uh lead singer of Vinnie Vincent Innovation.
- 44:03SPEAKER_12: Anyway, uh and then he disappeared.
- 44:06SPEAKER_12: Uh yeah, he literally just like gone.
- 44:09SPEAKER_12: And uh there's might be a reason.
- 44:11SPEAKER_12: Um kind of looks like your well, I don't your aunt there.
- 44:15SPEAKER_12: Not your aunt, but any aunt.
- 44:18SPEAKER_12: Um I almost think I don't know I don't know what's with the kabuki face paint.
- 44:21SPEAKER_12: Well, I almost think that he is uh is this like a performance art thing?
- 44:26SPEAKER_12: Well, no I think that was his isn't that what he was that his makeup when he was in KISS?
- 44:30SPEAKER_12: I think so.
- 44:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 44:32SPEAKER_12: Um but he is I have to read you this.
- 44:34SPEAKER_12: This is on Ultimate Classic Rock.
- 44:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah, this is all over the news, and it's just kind of mind-blowing.
- 44:39SPEAKER_12: Former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent has announced a new single ta titled Ride the Serpent.
- 44:45SPEAKER_12: It marks his first new original material in over 20 years, and it comes with a high price tag.
- 44:50SPEAKER_12: Vincent revealed that Ride the Serpent will only be available on CD.
- 44:56SPEAKER_12: With a total 1,000 pressings made.
- 44:59SPEAKER_12: 500 sold in the US, 500 internationally.
- 45:02SPEAKER_12: He's only making 1,000 CDs.
- 45:04SPEAKER_12: Each CD with one song on it is priced at$200.
- 45:11SPEAKER_12: With an additional$25 for shipping in the USA and$100 for shipping internationally.
- 45:17SPEAKER_12: Each CD is individually numbered and signed by Vincent.
- 45:20SPEAKER_12: The release is part of the guitarist's new Vinny Vincent Invasion Master Series.
- 45:26SPEAKER_12: Uh why is he releasing music this way?
- 45:28SPEAKER_12: Actually, well, let me Ride the Serpent is a nearly eight-minute intense guitar power drive featuring Vinny Vincent on guitars and bass, Robert Fleischman on vocals, and Carrie uh Kerry Jordan on drums.
- 45:43SPEAKER_12: Vincent uh teased his upcoming release of material at the time.
- 45:46SPEAKER_12: You noted the unique way he planned to sell the songs was designed to protect against premature pirating.
- 45:52SPEAKER_12: I understand the moaning, the whining about the price, but you must also understand that my situation is as such that my music is so desired that it will be targeted and taken from me immediately, which I cannot and will not allow.
- 46:05SPEAKER_12: I wish it was not this way, but I'm honored that it is.
- 46:08SPEAKER_12: It's a double-edged sword for me, but I sincerely hope that when you think it through, you will understand the dilemma I face.
- 46:16SPEAKER_08: Wrong.
- 46:17SPEAKER_07: Wrong.
- 46:19unknown: Right?
- 46:20SPEAKER_07: There's been wrong people before.
- 46:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_07: This is this is way beyond them.
- 46:25SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 46:26SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 46:27SPEAKER_07: This is just absolute insanity.
- 46:31SPEAKER_07: Um because honestly, until I saw this story, I totally forgot about Vinny Vincent.
- 46:38SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 46:38SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 46:40SPEAKER_12: And he he came out of hiding.
- 46:41SPEAKER_12: Nobody I know.
- 46:42SPEAKER_12: This is the Vinny Vincent.
- 46:44SPEAKER_12: He came out of hiding a couple years ago and was planning a tour and then canceled the tour.
- 46:49SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 46:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I remember that.
- 46:51SPEAKER_12: I think that maybe that may be the last time we ever talked about it.
- 46:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I think so.
- 46:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 46:54SPEAKER_12: Uh and now he's selling one song for$200.
- 46:57SPEAKER_12: That's just stupid.
- 46:58SPEAKER_12: Um at$25 in shipping?
- 47:01SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 47:01SPEAKER_07: What's he express shipping it to everybody?
- 47:03SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 47:04SPEAKER_07: Um I mean, it's good for the post office, I suppose, but come on.
- 47:08SPEAKER_12: I I understand.
- 47:09SPEAKER_12: You know, if you think this is a valid um way to combat uh the way the music industry is today, like streaming and and and things like that.
- 47:23SPEAKER_12: This is not the way to do it.
- 47:24SPEAKER_12: Well, not only that, the the w not the way to do it is is not to say everybody wants my music.
- 47:30SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that that's that's so arrogant.
- 47:32SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 47:33SPEAKER_12: It's like everybody wants there's a so people are gonna pirate it, you know, because it's really they really want it.
- 47:39SPEAKER_12: Who?
- 47:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah, exactly.
- 47:41SPEAKER_07: Who are these people?
- 47:42SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 47:42SPEAKER_07: Do they live in your house?
- 47:43SPEAKER_07: I'm sure he has fans.
- 47:45SPEAKER_07: Are they in the room with you right now?
- 47:47SPEAKER_14: Is there a gun to your head?
- 47:50SPEAKER_12: I I I really do think he has fans.
- 47:53SPEAKER_12: There's no question.
- 47:54SPEAKER_07: Oh, I don't doubt that, but I don't think they're like, you know, oh, as soon as he gets that song on, I'm gonna download it and you know, on my napster.
- 48:03SPEAKER_07: Do you think he will sell any?
- 48:05SPEAKER_07: He probably will.
- 48:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, probably.
- 48:07SPEAKER_07: I don't I don't know.
- 48:08SPEAKER_07: I don't know who.
- 48:09SPEAKER_07: It's people with more money than brains, obviously.
- 48:11SPEAKER_07: Oh, for sure.
- 48:12SPEAKER_07: But I guess I mean, you know, what's that saying?
- 48:16SPEAKER_07: A fool and his money are soon parted.
- 48:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:18SPEAKER_07: There you go.
- 48:19SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 48:20SPEAKER_12: Uh along those along those same lines.
- 48:23SPEAKER_07: I mean, I got an autographed CD from uh uh uh uh Nita Strauss.
- 48:28SPEAKER_07: Right it was 30 bucks, right?
- 48:32SPEAKER_07: That was with shipping, you know, and she's way more popular than Vinnie Vincent.
- 48:38SPEAKER_12: So I don't know, man.
- 48:40SPEAKER_12: And and and so so Vinny Vincent, attached attached to Kiss, right, for a short time.
- 48:47SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 48:47SPEAKER_12: Peter Chris, the original Kiss Drummer.
- 48:50SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 48:51SPEAKER_12: Peter Chris really doesn't want you to buy his new album digitally.
- 48:56SPEAKER_12: The former Kiss Drummer has put his brand new self-titled solo album for sale at industry standard prices for vinyl,$33, and compact disc$15, but has set the download price at a staggering$1,000 on his Bandcamp page.
- 49:17SPEAKER_12: What is wrong with these people?
- 49:20SPEAKER_12: Uh okay, there's an update.
- 49:21SPEAKER_12: Several hours after this article was published, Chris posted the following message to his Facebook page.
- 49:25SPEAKER_12: Hello, Kiss Army and Army National Guard.
- 49:28SPEAKER_12: Army National Guard! Bandcamp had become an issue, and I had requested Flatiron Recordings to disable the account associated with my records before the release day of my new record on December 19th.
- 49:39SPEAKER_12: I am in I am not in control of the Bandcamp account.
- 49:41SPEAKER_12: Flatiron record or recordings is.
- 49:44SPEAKER_12: I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and for the misinformation and implication that I am charging$1,000 for a download of my new record.
- 49:51SPEAKER_12: I am not.
- 49:52SPEAKER_12: Please contact Flatiron Recordings with any purchase requests.
- 49:55SPEAKER_12: Please find another outlet to purchase my new Peter Chris Rock record.
- 49:58SPEAKER_12: There is a link tree on my website, PeterChris.net, of outlets to purchase my new record.
- 50:03SPEAKER_12: Just click the link for my record and it will show you the link tree.
- 50:06SPEAKER_12: Please use one of the those instead of Bandcamp.
- 50:09SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 50:09SPEAKER_12: So he is not selling it.
- 50:12SPEAKER_07: Okay, well that that's that's better.
- 50:14SPEAKER_07: That's better.
- 50:15SPEAKER_07: Um just like geez of girl, thousand dollars.
- 50:18SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 50:19SPEAKER_12: Oh my freaking word.
- 50:21SPEAKER_12: I I don't know if that's the right way to combat streaming.
- 50:26SPEAKER_12: It's not, man.
- 50:27SPEAKER_07: Because everybody's gonna be like, well, I can stream it for even if you bought it on iTunes, it'd be ten bucks.
- 50:32SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 50:33SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 50:33SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 50:34SPEAKER_07: I mean, just come on, man.
- 50:36SPEAKER_07: I mean, yeah, it's bad.
- 50:38SPEAKER_07: I mean, I know I know everybody wants, you know, some payment for their music because you know, you're not gonna get it from Spotify.
- 50:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 50:45SPEAKER_07: That's for dang sure.
- 50:47SPEAKER_12: I saw another uh interview today with a uh singer-songwriter, a British singer-songwriter, who was saying that uh because we were we were saying that I think a couple weeks ago, that uh touring is the only way to that people make money now.
- 51:02SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 51:03SPEAKER_12: Uh and this artist was like I'm going under.
- 51:08SPEAKER_12: It's costing me fifty to tour to do a US tour, it cost me personally fifty thousand dollars.
- 51:14SPEAKER_12: Oh, I believe it.
- 51:15SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 51:15SPEAKER_12: Uh out of pocket.
- 51:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 51:17SPEAKER_12: You know, because uh you have to pay for these things in advance, and if it you don't recoup it, then uh it costs me money.
- 51:24SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 51:24SPEAKER_12: Uh and the tour of um the UK, she loses ten thousand dollars.
- 51:30SPEAKER_12: Yeah, which is as bad.
- 51:31SPEAKER_12: Right, but uh you know, of her own money.
- 51:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you know, and so it's unsustainable.
- 51:36SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you know, uh touring for for an artist of her level.
- 51:40SPEAKER_12: Now she's she's well known.
- 51:41SPEAKER_12: Her name is Kate Nash.
- 51:42SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, she's well known.
- 51:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 51:44SPEAKER_12: Uh she's not a top-tier artist by the same thing.
- 51:47SPEAKER_07: Well, she's no Taylor Swift, right?
- 51:49SPEAKER_07: That's for sure, yeah.
- 51:49SPEAKER_12: She says, you know, the the Taylor Swifts and the people that are these big rec record companies, you know, they're they're raking in millions of dollars and making it very difficult for the little guy to uh m you make a living.
- 52:02SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 52:03SPEAKER_12: Um so I just th I just I don't know what the answer is.
- 52:07SPEAKER_12: I really don't.
- 52:08SPEAKER_07: I don't I don't think there is one, man.
- 52:10SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 52:10SPEAKER_12: I mean, you can't make any money.
- 52:12SPEAKER_07: You still gotta I mean you still gotta grind.
- 52:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 52:15SPEAKER_12: And that's all you can do.
- 52:17SPEAKER_12: And I think it's a matter of so i I got to thinking about this.
- 52:20SPEAKER_12: You know how I I uh uh I said I want to step back a little bit from performing, you and I.
- 52:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 52:26SPEAKER_12: Uh or slow down, I should say.
- 52:28SPEAKER_12: Um and I st I still kind of want to do that, but I think we should we should uh keep doing it because um I like the money.
- 52:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I was about to say there's not a lot of it, but I like I like the money.
- 52:42SPEAKER_12: It's it helps.
- 52:42SPEAKER_12: It sure is.
- 52:43SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 52:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:45SPEAKER_12: And uh um I think if I want to incorporate more of our original stuff.
- 52:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 52:50SPEAKER_12: Uh to make it more fun for us.
- 52:51SPEAKER_12: Might as well.
- 52:52SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 52:52SPEAKER_07: I mean they're not listening anyway.
- 52:54SPEAKER_07: Right, exactly.
- 52:54SPEAKER_07: Why not?
- 52:55SPEAKER_12: That's the thing.
- 52:56SPEAKER_12: But if these artists like a Kate Nash went and uh performed like a stripped down tour, like a couple of musicians and her and sold their merch there, um, they might m make a profit.
- 53:13SPEAKER_12: Maybe.
- 53:13SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 53:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 53:14SPEAKER_07: Um Yeah, you can't do the big rock and roll tour anymore because it just isn't worth it.
- 53:19SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 53:26SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 53:26SPEAKER_12: Take note of of after COVID uh bands, like bar bands disappeared.
- 53:32SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 53:33SPEAKER_12: There was no bar bars, were not hiring bands.
- 53:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 53:35SPEAKER_12: And uh here we are f like five years later, and they're starting to again, but most of it is not bands.
- 53:44SPEAKER_12: They're they're mostly like us, like acoustic acts, yeah, or DJs, or you know, they're they're still getting people out, but they're not paying for big bands anymore.
- 53:56SPEAKER_12: No.
- 53:57SPEAKER_12: You know, because they can't afford it.
- 53:58SPEAKER_07: Well, uh that's what happened to Marionette.
- 54:01SPEAKER_07: They were gonna play at the time out.
- 54:03SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 54:03SPEAKER_12: And they weren't gonna play.
- 54:04SPEAKER_07: They lowballed them.
- 54:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 54:06SPEAKER_07: So they're like, well, we're gonna go somewhere else.
- 54:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 54:08SPEAKER_07: And charge a cover.
- 54:09SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 54:10SPEAKER_07: I don't know how well that worked out either.
- 54:12SPEAKER_07: I didn't think to ask John when I saw him, but uh but still, I mean it's it's that's that's but I mean, yep, up here it's even worse because there are so few pla there were so few places to play before.
- 54:23SPEAKER_07: Before, yeah.
- 54:24SPEAKER_07: Now there's even less.
- 54:25SPEAKER_07: So it's like, yeah, where do you go?
- 54:28SPEAKER_07: It's true.
- 54:28SPEAKER_07: I mean, we have we haven't got asked to play anywhere in a while.
- 54:32SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 54:32SPEAKER_12: And there's even and there's more people out playing.
- 54:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 54:35SPEAKER_12: Notice that?
- 54:36SPEAKER_12: Heath Bartley has taken a bunch of shows, which is great.
- 54:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, don't get me wrong.
- 54:40SPEAKER_12: County folks out there playing.
- 54:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah, they're out there playing.
- 54:42SPEAKER_07: You know, and there's people out there playing I am never heard of.
- 54:44SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 54:45SPEAKER_07: So I mean, you know, but we're not getting any calls.
- 54:47SPEAKER_12: We have never actively had to call and say, can we play your venue?
- 54:51SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 54:51SPEAKER_12: Maybe we'll have to do that.
- 54:52SPEAKER_07: Maybe.
- 54:53SPEAKER_12: I don't know.
- 54:53SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 54:53SPEAKER_07: I thought I thought people liked us, but I guess not.
- 54:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah, whatever.
- 54:57SPEAKER_12: People are stupid.
- 55:02SPEAKER_12: All right, I want to move on.
- 55:03SPEAKER_12: Um so Megadeth have a new uh video for one of the songs from the new Megadeth album.
- 55:09SPEAKER_12: So excited.
- 55:10SPEAKER_12: Um we'll watch a little bit of the video, but I just really wanted to hear the song because we haven't uh we've only heard one song, I think, from uh from the upcoming Megadeth.
- 55:21SPEAKER_12: I bet it's Thrash.
- 55:22SPEAKER_12: I bet it is too.
- 55:23SPEAKER_12: It's called Let There Be Shred.
- 55:25SPEAKER_12: Um after I get past this stupid ads.
- 55:29SPEAKER_12: Stupid ads.
- 56:38SPEAKER_07: It's pretty good.
- 56:39SPEAKER_07: It's fun.
- 56:39SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, it's fun.
- 56:41SPEAKER_07: I don't know what's with the Mortal Kombat karate tournament going on, but it's a funny video.
- 56:47SPEAKER_07: It's pretty great.
- 56:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 56:50SPEAKER_07: But out of all those people, I would I put my money on Dave because he's an actual black belt.
- 56:54SPEAKER_07: So that's right.
- 56:55SPEAKER_14: Well, I mean, look at this picture at the top of it, like right there.
- 56:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 57:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 57:00SPEAKER_14: So that's cool.
- 57:02SPEAKER_14: And I think, like I said, that comes out in January.
- 57:04SPEAKER_14: The the number I'm very excited about it.
- 57:07SPEAKER_07: So uh fun stuff.
- 57:09SPEAKER_07: Um got it, it's got a it's got a whiplash vibe to it.
- 57:14SPEAKER_07: You notice that?
- 57:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:15SPEAKER_07: Like that for I was like, ooh.
- 57:19SPEAKER_12: Um I'm sorry to say that we're we're if we want to keep this uh we we've been talking for an hour about nothing.
- 57:25SPEAKER_12: Uh so that's what we're doing.
- 57:26SPEAKER_07: We're good about that.
- 57:27SPEAKER_07: We're the Seinfeld of podcasts.
- 57:28SPEAKER_12: We're good at that.
- 57:29SPEAKER_12: So uh I had to read the mixtape question again.
- 57:33SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah, I totally forgot about that.
- 57:34SPEAKER_12: Did you but you picked one?
- 57:35SPEAKER_12: No.
- 57:36SPEAKER_12: You didn't?
- 57:36SPEAKER_12: I totally forgot.
- 57:37SPEAKER_12: Okay, did we do a past one?
- 57:40SPEAKER_12: Like before Christmas.
- 57:42SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because the judge is uh has sent us something.
- 57:45SPEAKER_07: Well, that was the Christmas one.
- 57:46SPEAKER_12: Speaking of that, I brought a cord.
- 57:48SPEAKER_12: Oh no, I didn't bring it down.
- 57:49SPEAKER_12: It's upstairs.
- 57:50SPEAKER_12: Uh oh.
- 57:52SPEAKER_12: I don't have my phone either.
- 57:53SPEAKER_12: Hold on a second.
- 57:54SPEAKER_12: Let me see if I can uh message someone.
- 57:59SPEAKER_12: Um get Eli off his wee.
- 58:02SPEAKER_12: I was just gonna say, um Yeah, you're probably right.
- 58:05SPEAKER_12: He probably has gaming reasons.
- 58:06SPEAKER_07: He probably is like he's playing Ghostbusters.
- 58:11SPEAKER_12: Actually, uh no, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna put some music on.
- 58:16SPEAKER_12: Uh and then let's see.
- 58:18SPEAKER_12: What is this one?
- 58:21SPEAKER_12: What is Oh no, sorry.
- 58:23SPEAKER_12: That's a good one.
- 58:25SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 58:27SPEAKER_12: Is this just a bed?
- 58:32SPEAKER_12: All right.
- 58:33SPEAKER_12: You uh the old bride.
- 58:34SPEAKER_12: Oh no.
- 58:35SPEAKER_12: No, no, no.
- 58:36SPEAKER_12: That's our ending.
- 58:37SPEAKER_12: That's the ending.
- 58:38SPEAKER_12: We're not over yet! Never mind.
- 58:40SPEAKER_12: We should be.
- 58:40SPEAKER_12: Maybe I'm not gonna play music.
- 58:42SPEAKER_12: Uh you tell a story or something.
- 58:43SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna go get that chord.
- 58:45SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 58:45SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 58:45SPEAKER_07: I don't know what I'm gonna talk about.
- 58:47SPEAKER_07: I don't know either.
- 58:48SPEAKER_07: Hmm, what shall we discuss, everybody?
- 58:51SPEAKER_07: It's now the Doug podcast.
- 58:54SPEAKER_07: Hey.
- 59:01SPEAKER_07: Oh shoot.
- 59:04SPEAKER_07: Well, what have I been up to?
- 59:06SPEAKER_07: Well, I've redesigned my drum basement.
- 59:10SPEAKER_07: I call it the Fun Dungeon South.
- 59:12SPEAKER_07: If you saw my Christmas Eve video, um, you saw it.
- 59:16SPEAKER_07: I've uh I I I'm a collector of flags.
- 59:20SPEAKER_07: So I got different flags of, you know, different organizations of military and but two of my f I got a Hawaiian flag now, because I was stationed in Hawaii for a long time and I love that place.
- 59:33SPEAKER_07: So I got a Hawaiian flag, and I got I got a grand union flag.
- 59:38SPEAKER_07: And if you know what a grand union flag is, it's the flag that we had before the stars and stripes of the Betrie Betri Betty Betsy Ross flag.
- 59:47SPEAKER_07: I have one of those.
- 59:48SPEAKER_07: It's got the uh red and white stripes, but it's got the Union Jack in the corner instead of the flag.
- 59:53SPEAKER_07: Because that was before we decided, you know, we were like, eh, we don't like you, Britain anymore, but we don't, you know, but we'll we'll take an apology and still be your friend.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_07: That kind of thing.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_07: But that didn't last long.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_07: And then I also have a Serapis flag.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_07: And if you know what a Serapis flag is, it's the John Paul Jones when he with the Baum Richard, uh-huh.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_07: When he defeated the uh HMS Serapis.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_07: Of course, the Richard sunk and he boarded the Serapis and took it over.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_07: So he was sailing back to uh I think Amsterdam.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_07: But you can't in those days, you could if you're if you of course when the bomb Richard sank, it it took the flag with it.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_07: So he had no flag, and he wasn't gonna fly the British flag.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_07: So you can't fly, you can't sail into another harbor without a flag because they they could see you a pirate and then they're gonna kill you.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_07: So he was like, so he got some seamstress to they were like, hey, can you make us a flag?
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_07: It's got stripes, it's they're red and white, blue, and there's some stre there's some stars in the corner.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_07: So they came up with this really bizarre uh design for the U.S.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_07: flag.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_07: And he was like, Oh, good enough.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_07: So they call it the Serapis flag.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_07: So I actually got one and I hung it up in the uh drum basement.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_07: That's awesome.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_12: So thank you, by the way, for uh putting a message out on Christmas.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I was I was just sitting down there playing drums and I was like, you know what?
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_07: It's Christmas Eve.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we should say something.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because we're not having a podcast.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_12: Uh all right, so I have a chord.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_12: So let's do this.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_12: Uh I think this is the one.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_10: It's time for everyone to get part of the show.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_10: With everyone's favorites, O'Brien, Doug, Cousin Larry, and yours truly, Miss Judge Ness, Judge Ness, Judge Ness.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_10: It's time to play mixed tape.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_12: Yeah, our judge.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_12: Alright, so the past question.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_12: I don't even remember remember what the question was.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_12: It was the Christmas one.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_12: Uh like a best Christmas song?
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_12: Oh, that's right, yes.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_07: Okay, so we're shit.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_07: Okay, so I'm gonna.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_07: So that was right.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_07: Okay, we ready?
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:02:09unknown: Let me get out of my now.
- 1:02:11unknown: Okay.

- 1:02:18SPEAKER_07: I wanna make sure that I have stand.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_07: Oh.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_07: There we go.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_07: Alright, let's try this again.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_07: Okay, let me back it up.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_07: Alright, here we go.

- 1:02:46SPEAKER_10: Had some really crazy weather around here lately.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_10: Um I uh can't say that I am a big Christmas music connoisseur.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_10: Um I do listen to it occasionally.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_10: So um listening to the different picks was really awesome.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_10: But I had to go with uh cousin Larry's pick this week.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_10: Um who doesn't love Christmas vacation?
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_10: It's a cult classic.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_10: I love the movie.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_10: Um and it is it is a yearly must-watch during the Christmas season.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_10: So that was that was my pick this week.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_07: What uh what did I pick?
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_07: You picked White Christmas and I picked uh the Christmas classics.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_12: That's right.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_12: All right, so that's the pass.

- 1:03:45SPEAKER_12: Alright, so what did uh cousin Larry pick?
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_07: Oh, you know what?
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_07: I don't think I heard from him.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_07: What?
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_07: Come to think of it.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_07: No, I haven't.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_12: You haven't?
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_12: I have not heard.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_12: Well that means Larry.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_12: That means you and I will win.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_12: Well, he's out.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_12: He's out, yeah, right?
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_12: If you don't get us the answer in time for the podcast, then you're out.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_12: Simple as that.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_12: That's all it is.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_12: Uh are you texting him right now?
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_12: Yes, I am.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_12: So do you?
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_12: Uh so do you want to do yours and see if he replies?
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we'll see if he will if he gets Okay.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_12: So what was yours?
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_12: Uh well, what was the question?
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_12: Let's read the question.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_07: It was yeah, it was uh about to say it's right there.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_07: Uh um if you had but one Motown song to listen to while stranded on a desert island, what would it be?
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_12: This is a challenge.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_07: It is, it really is a challenge because I mean I there's so many Motown songs that I love.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_12: Me too.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_07: Um But I had to choose uh uh the one we do with the Syndicate.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_07: Uh d dun dun dun dun dun.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_07: Because the name is escaping me as we speak.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_14: Hold on.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_14: I know who it is.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's the it's uh uh uh uh bab dab dab Jeez, I'm having a hard time here.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_14: Uh, you know, yeah, I do.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I'm I've got it in my iTunes here.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_14: I'm looking for it.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_14: Uh you are talking about four tops, right?
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_14: Yes, it is the four tops.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_12: Uh where are you guys?
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_12: Hold on a second.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_12: Let's go with genre.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_12: Uh that's not what I wanted.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_12: I probably could have had it pulled up quicker than than this, but uh Yeah, but you didn't know what I was gonna say either.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_12: This is true.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_07: So that's that that's not on you.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_12: Uh here we go, here we go, here we go.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_12: Wait, wait, they're not in here.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_07: What?
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_12: Dude, I ha and I have like a billion four top CDs.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_12: They're not in here.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_12: Hold on.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_12: Uh so it is Oh, I'll be there.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_14: Reach out there, reach out, I'll be there.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_14: So let's see.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_14: Let's see.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_14: Let's do this right here.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_12: Right here.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_12: Such a classic.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_07: Such a classic.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_07: This was the height of Motown.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_12: Oh.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_12: Uh, interestingly enough, um, I also picked Four Tops.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_12: Uh, not this song.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_07: Did you choose Bernadette?
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_12: No, I didn't.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_12: I love that song too.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_12: I really love any Four Top song, to be honest with you.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_12: But this, I and I don't know why.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_12: I don't know what it is about this song that gets me.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_12: Um, but I love it.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_12: And it's not necessarily one of their bigger hits.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_12: It was a hit.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_12: But it wasn't one of their bigger ones.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_12: But I like it's the same old song.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, that's a great one.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_02: Um, I think that's a good idea.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_12: Alright, and one of the reasons why I like this, and I'm I'm stalling now because I know that we haven't heard from from uh cousin Larry yet.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_12: But uh I do love this version.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_12: And I think actually, I think I may have played this for you before.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_12: But there's a a like a uh folk artist that we've done but we've covered before.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_12: Um this is David Wilcox.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and I think I actually maybe I've played this before.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_12: I think so.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_12: And uh and I don't know if this is why I like that song so much.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_12: I don't I don't think it is, but this treatment of it was pretty unique.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_14: Maybe it's that all night long.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_12: Again, I'm still stalling.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_12: Nothing.
- 1:09:25unknown: Sweet Larry.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_12: Are we just skipping cousin Larry this week?
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_07: Well, we we could edit it in Ben, you know.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_07: We've never done that.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_07: No, never that doesn't happen at all.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_07: Ever.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_07: Not at all.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_11: Anything in?
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, as a matter of fact.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_07: Oh, cool.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_07: Just got back.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_14: What did he say?
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_07: Uh, okay, so this is what he said.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_07: I'm on a plane coming back from Vegas.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_08: That's what we didn't hear from him.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_07: Uh, we just landed in Denver.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_07: My short version would be Smokey Robinson's.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_07: Second that emotion.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_07: Honorable mention to Marvin Gaye's What's Going On?
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_07: Oh, God!
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_12: I was gonna pick that one too.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_12: Oh, I love that song.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_12: I was gonna pick that one too.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_14: Oh, why is that why did that start in the middle?
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_14: Maybe I was playing it eventually.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_12: So Smokey and the Miracles.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_03: Maybe you wanna give me kids a sweet.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_03: But only for one I don't know it be.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_12: One of the most prolific songwriters in Motown 2 is Pokey.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_03: You feel like a meal I don't want emotions.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_12: Good pick.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_12: Good pick, cousin Larry.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_12: Although, you know, and I thought about Marvin Gay.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_12: I love anything.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_07: No, man, I totally blanked on that.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_07: But I would have picked sexual healing.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_07: No, no, what's the uh whah wah that one.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_12: Oh.

- 1:11:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_12: I love that song.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_12: No, I probably would have picked it up.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_12: I wish we would do that in the syndicate what's going on.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_12: I probably would have picked what's going on.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_12: But I'm sticking with mine.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_14: Alright, well, there you have it.

- 1:15:31SPEAKER_07: But I mean, don't just be like, oh, next year I'm gonna do this, this, and this.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_07: And then you and then you're just like, oh, I didn't do, you know, it's like I'm a failure.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_07: You're like April and you're like, oh man, I'm a loser.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_07: I didn't even do any of it.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_07: Good intentions.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, well, you know, we know what the road to hell isn't paid paved with.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_07: Good intentions.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_07: So, you know, just just just keep going, man.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_07: Just, you know, let the clock turn and you know, write the write the wrong date for a month, like everybody else.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_07: Just just just let it go, man.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_07: I totally agree.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_05: O'Brien and Doug's wall of two.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_12: Uh, so I'm gonna take off my headphones and I'm gonna climb that wall.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_12: And I don't know what you're gonna do.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_07: I'm gonna talk about Pantera.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_07: Alright, you do that.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_07: Because I've been listening to a lot of Pantera.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_07: So I I was like, uh, so I will I last week I think was it last week?
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was last week.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_07: I listened to I had uh Cowboys from Hell album in my C D player.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_07: So I was listening to that for the whole week.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_07: Which is fun to drive which is fun to drive into a school parking lot, uh blasting uh domination or something like that.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_07: So that's you know, it gets you pumped up for the day.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_07: And now this week I've got uh vulgar display of power in the more famous ones.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_07: And I was like, it's it's basically the same thing, except it got harder.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_07: Because you still got like the the sweet song like this love.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:17:11SPEAKER_07: As compared to Cemetery Gates.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_07: You still got that.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_07: But then you get to uh Far Beyond Driven, the next one.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_07: And that's way harder than the other two put together.
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_07: So it's just like a progression, you know what I mean?
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_07: I do.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_07: So I I like it.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_12: Um I've changed you know what we talked about what we talked about before we came back from break?
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_12: I've changed.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_12: Uh I'm not gonna play.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_12: I'm not I'm not gonna pick that one.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_07: Um, you're a Presbyterian now?
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_12: Yes, exactly.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_12: Good for you.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_12: Um just play a couple of these.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_12: So, um, I have an album.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_12: I don't let the guessing begin.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_07: Is it a band?
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_07: No.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_07: Solo.
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_07: This one happens to be solo.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_07: Is it a woman or a man?
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_07: Solomon.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_12: Solomon.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_07: How can I say that?
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_07: I think a Lord of the Rings.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_07: Solomon Holland.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_07: I think it's I think it's a Solomon.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_12: I think it's Solomon Holland.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_07: I must see my leader.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_07: Weird.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_07: No, weirder.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_07: Frank Zappa?
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_12: It is.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_12: It is.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_12: Um and the only reason I'm I'm not a huge fan of Frank Zappa.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_12: I mean I like I like Frank Zappa.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_12: Uh because he was a genius.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_12: Oh, I don't know.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_12: I mean, literally a genius.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_12: Um but I I have this one album, uh, Return of the Son of Kill Ugly Radio.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_12: Uh so this is uh not only does the shrewd promotional tool aid and abet the sale of Frank Zappa's The Lost Episodes, but it reminds us that this is an election year.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_12: Don't forget to register to vote.
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_12: Uh so this is uh Thanks, Frank! Uh let's see.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I'm not gonna play that one because there's a couple swears in it.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_12: But I can play this one.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_04: This is uh Hold on.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_04: There will come a time when every evil that we know will be an evil that we can have a bow.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_04: Who has a hair is longer, shorter, straight?
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_12: This is a song called Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance.
- 1:20:50SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 1:20:50SPEAKER_12: Uh and this one is called Hot Plate Heaven at the Green Hotel.
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_17: I used to have a job and I was doing fairly well.
- 1:21:09SPEAKER_17: The best of days a lot and everyone is not the gold gold days of the stuff lob and all the grid.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_12: It's just weird stuff.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_12: It is, but it's good.
- 1:21:24SPEAKER_12: It's it's genius.
- 1:21:25SPEAKER_12: I mean it's he was such a prolific um musician.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_12: I mean, he played tons of instruments, but he this is all he composed all of this.
- 1:21:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:21:43SPEAKER_12: You know, so I was talking about Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_12: That's the the what his band.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_12: Yeah, his band.
- 1:21:49SPEAKER_12: But this is all from the last episodes uh album.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_17: Um it's not the best.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_12: Uh and then this one here, I I think it's home.
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_04: Anybody home?
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_04: Special blue town.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_04: Registered mail, you're gonna have to sign for this button.
- 1:22:21SPEAKER_04: Come on, I know you're in there.
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_16: I don't wanna get bacted, I don't wanna get I don't wanna get basted.
- 1:22:36SPEAKER_16: I don't wanna get basted, I don't wanna go.
- 1:22:40SPEAKER_16: I don't wanna get bacted.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_16: No no no.
- 1:22:48SPEAKER_16: I too young and stupid to operate a gun.
- 1:22:53SPEAKER_00: I don't wanna get drafted.
- 1:22:57SPEAKER_00: I don't wanna get drafted.
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_12: What do you what do you think went on in this guy's head?
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_12: I don't really wanna know.
- 1:23:03SPEAKER_12: No, right?
- 1:23:05SPEAKER_12: That'd be a scary That would be a scary trip.
- 1:23:08SPEAKER_12: Let me just go through a couple of these uh song titles.
- 1:23:10SPEAKER_12: Um Stinkfoot, which in uh includes some some suggestive language, so I won't play that one.
- 1:23:15SPEAKER_12: Okay, Hungry Freaks, Daddy, Concentration Moon, Would You Go All the Way, uh A Few Moments with Brother A West, I don't even care, Alley Cat, Pooftor's Froth Wyoming Plans Ahead, uh Lil Clanton Shuffle, When the Lies So Big, and Dickie's Such an A-hole.
- 1:23:38SPEAKER_12: Uh this is this is all.
- 1:23:41SPEAKER_07: I wonder if that's about Richard Nixon.
- 1:23:43SPEAKER_12: We'll listen to it off off air.
- 1:23:45SPEAKER_12: Actually, I wonder if uh it's well no, it it's not just to swear.
- 1:23:51SPEAKER_12: I I don't want to play it uh on on the podcast.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_12: Um just because Bletcher children are probably listening.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_07: They're already traumatized.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_12: And we don't have to do it now.
- 1:24:01SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_12: So um that is the pick this week.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_12: Um Frank Zappa returns ahead of his time.
- 1:24:09SPEAKER_12: Of the son of uh Kill Ugly Radio.
- 1:24:11SPEAKER_12: And yes, this is a um, yes, I do, I do, uh there are some benefits to working at a radio station.
- 1:24:17SPEAKER_12: Um this is a promotional copy.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_13: Uh yes.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_13: Um actually it doesn't.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_13: Oh maybe it wasn't a promotional copy.
- 1:24:30SPEAKER_12: But you're right.
- 1:24:31SPEAKER_12: If you and you know this because you A, you worked in radio, but also B you worked at a record store.
- 1:24:37SPEAKER_12: So if uh if there is a C D case that has a hole in the uh is it the barcode?
- 1:24:47SPEAKER_12: Or I think it's in the barcode.
- 1:24:49SPEAKER_12: If there's a hole in the barcode, then that is a promotional copy that was meant for a radio station.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_12: Um and um you probably stole it.
- 1:25:00SPEAKER_07: Well didn't didn't he even have an album called Steal This Album?
- 1:25:04SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:25:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I know uh System Up and Down had that did the same thing, but uh Um So yeah uh that is it and it's uh like I said, the return of the Son of Kill Ugly Radio, Frank Zappa.
- 1:25:16SPEAKER_12: I'm not a huge Zapba fan, but I certainly do appreciate what he gave to the world.
- 1:25:21SPEAKER_07: Well, I mean, like I said, he was ahead of his time.
- 1:25:23SPEAKER_07: He he predicted, you know, automated, you know, like what's going on now.
- 1:25:28SPEAKER_12: He did.
- 1:25:29SPEAKER_07: He he he said that way back in the 70s.
- 1:25:31SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:25:31SPEAKER_07: He was talking about that.
- 1:25:32SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:25:33SPEAKER_12: So and his kids are fantastic as well.
- 1:25:35SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah, they're all super super talented.
- 1:25:38SPEAKER_07: Moon unit Zappa.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_07: I mean they got strange names, but whatever.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_07: They're nice people.
- 1:25:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:43SPEAKER_07: Or they seem to be nice.
- 1:25:44SPEAKER_07: I don't know them personally, but you know, they seem to be nice.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_08: So there you go.
