Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hey there, pull up a chair.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Rob's got a question to share.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Started with a light red rod and an old note
- 0:36Speaker 3: in the margin thinning.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Then a side road turned to three more roads and
- 0:40Speaker 4: here we go again.
- 0:42Speaker 5: A photograph, a witness, a date that doesn't quite align.
- 0:47Speaker 6: One small fact becomes a winding track by a.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Quarter after nine. Random research, ramblings with a rock.
- 0:56Speaker 5: Take the long way, let the rabbit hole bow.
- 0:59Speaker 3: From odd little facts to the big what ifs. We'll
- 1:04Speaker 3: follow every tangent till.
- 1:06Speaker 4: The evidence slips.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Random research, ramblings with Rob.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Bring your questions, bring your curious thoughts.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Was it the grassy note or a file misfiled?
- 1:22Speaker 4: Rob's got a theory, but he's checking them out. No
- 1:26Speaker 4: final answers, just a notebook.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And a grin.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Tooling for the question.
- 1:34Speaker 6: And the rabbit hole within. Random research, ramblings with Rob.
- 1:42Speaker 6: Where the side note is where we begin.
- 2:10Speaker 7: What's up everybody? I love that intro video, sorry. Oh,
- 2:15Speaker 7: I kill me sometimes. Anyway, welcome in to Random Research
- 2:21Speaker 7: Ramblings with Rob. Today we're going to be talking a
- 2:26Speaker 7: little bit about cancel culture, getting canceled, canceling things. Mainly,
- 2:39Speaker 7: I want to talk about Lancer. As most of you
- 2:45Speaker 7: know who followed along with the show, I have not
- 2:50Speaker 7: been a big proponent of conferences for the last, hmm,
- 2:58Speaker 7: almost 10 years now. And I've cited along the way
- 3:05Speaker 7: the many, many problems that I think these conferences will encounter.
- 3:14Speaker 7: And it does start with distance. And what I mean
- 3:24Speaker 7: by that is the further you get away from the
- 3:29Speaker 7: Kennedy assassination itself this year marks the 63rd year okay
- 3:38Speaker 7: and interest in the case dwindles every year serious interest
- 3:46Speaker 7: I don't mean the jackasses on Facebook who like to
- 3:49Speaker 7: talk shit this and that or you know quote idiots
- 3:53Speaker 7: and repeat unsubstantiated bullshit I'm not talking about those people
- 3:58Speaker 7: Seems like there are more of them than ever. But
- 4:00Speaker 7: I'm talking about serious researchers in this case are dwindling
- 4:09Speaker 7: by the year. You know, the further we get away
- 4:13Speaker 7: from the event. I mean, look at all the people
- 4:17Speaker 7: who have passed away trying to figure this thing out.
- 4:22Speaker 7: All the people that have passed away asking questions, never
- 4:26Speaker 7: really knowing the truth, or maybe they thought they figured
- 4:30Speaker 7: it out. And then after they passed over, you know,
- 4:35Speaker 7: God was like, you got it wrong. You got it.
- 4:38Speaker 7: How did, how did you miss it? Um, you know, these, these,
- 4:45Speaker 7: these folks that are super Uber interested in the case
- 4:48Speaker 7: are getting to an advanced elderly age where they cannot travel. Um,
- 4:57Speaker 7: And it's just really, really hard for them to stay...
- 5:02Speaker 7: You know, you get up in your 70s and 80s, man.
- 5:04Speaker 7: It's really hard to, like, cognitively still be with the case.
- 5:11Speaker 7: You know? And I don't know how some folks do it.
- 5:17Speaker 7: I mean, I know nowadays, you know, sometimes life just
- 5:22Speaker 7: gets in the way. I mean... You could look at it,
- 5:26Speaker 7: you know, okay, well, when you're 70 or 80, what
- 5:28Speaker 7: more do you have to do rather than sit around
- 5:31Speaker 7: and read a lot? And write. And I get it. And,
- 5:35Speaker 7: you know, and I'm not taking anything away from the
- 5:39Speaker 7: old guys. I'd rather listen to what they have to
- 5:42Speaker 7: say than some 20-year-old who thinks that they, you know,
- 5:47Speaker 7: or some Johnny-come-lately who done figured it out, right? The
- 5:53Speaker 7: older I get... the more I realize that I didn't
- 5:58Speaker 7: know shit when I was younger. I thought I did.
- 6:02Speaker 7: I really thought I did. But age will humble you.
- 6:09Speaker 7: And you must allow it to humble you. Or else
- 6:14Speaker 7: you're just going to be a bitter old man or
- 6:18Speaker 7: old woman. So recently... JFK Lancer announced that they were
- 6:28Speaker 7: canceling this year's conference. A month and a half before
- 6:36Speaker 7: it's actually going off. This could be a problem. And
- 6:48Speaker 7: here's why, on several levels. It's not a good look
- 6:55Speaker 7: to cancel preeminent conference that's been around for gosh 35
- 7:07Speaker 7: 36 years due to poor ticket sales and the increased
- 7:14Speaker 7: cost of traveling now I've recently bought airplane tickets not
- 7:27Speaker 7: to Texas although I will be stopping in Texas But
- 7:31Speaker 7: to Costa Rica. All right. And I thought, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 7: the tickets were pretty reasonable. You know, a round trip
- 7:43Speaker 7: ticket for 500 bucks. It's not bad. If I was
- 7:48Speaker 7: just going to Dallas, I'm sure it would be cheaper.
- 7:55Speaker 7: In fact, let's check how much a plane ticket to
- 7:59Speaker 7: Texas costs. All right, here we go. So I'm on
- 8:05Speaker 7: the East Coast. I'm in Virginia. I would be flying
- 8:11Speaker 7: if I were going out of Dulles, Allen Dulles Airport,
- 8:14Speaker 7: Allen Dulles International Airport. So this is just me looking
- 8:20Speaker 7: up a round trip flight, round trip, you know, just
- 8:26Speaker 7: basic economy. I'm not trying to fly first class or anything. But,
- 8:35Speaker 7: and this is from Thursday, November 19th, and then coming
- 8:40Speaker 7: home Sunday the 22nd. So, this flight here on Frontier Airlines, non-stop,
- 8:53Speaker 7: round trip. You see the price. The cheapest you can
- 8:56Speaker 7: go is United Airlines. $ 209. $ 209 for a round-trip ticket
- 9:07Speaker 7: from Dallas and then back again is not bad. So,
- 9:14Speaker 7: I don't see how they could blame high ticket prices
- 9:20Speaker 7: as a reason to cancel Lancer. Now, let's be bougie.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Let's upgrade to business class because, you know, big bad
- 9:34Speaker 7: Bob doesn't fly economy, right? Even still, business class on
- 9:42Speaker 7: Frontier Airlines would be 572 bucks round trip. Under 300
- 9:46Speaker 7: bucks each way. That's not bad. That's not bad. Now,
- 9:59Speaker 7: if I wanted to. whip out my swinging dick status card.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:05Speaker 7: And get on first class. Well by golly. You're looking
- 10:14Speaker 7: at a thousand bucks roughly. That's a little crazy. To
- 10:18Speaker 7: fly first class. And that's, well, yeah, that's with one stop.
- 10:29Speaker 7: A 50-minute layover in somewhere, IAH, wherever that is. Non-stop,
- 10:40Speaker 7: you're looking at $ 1, 100, $ 1, 200. So that's first class. That's
- 10:45Speaker 7: swinging dick status. That's crazy. But I would easily, if
- 10:54Speaker 7: it was me, I would easily do business class for
- 10:58Speaker 7: 500 bucks. Yeah. So I don't really know how Gabby
- 11:09Speaker 7: can justify that as a reason to cancel Lancer. Now,
- 11:16Speaker 7: I did notice this year. that they didn't announce Lancer
- 11:21Speaker 7: until very late. After the other conference had already announced
- 11:30Speaker 7: that they were, A, having a conference, and B, a
- 11:32Speaker 7: lot of their speakers who were going to be there,
- 11:36Speaker 7: where it was going to be held and all of that.
- 11:39Speaker 7: I did notice that Lancer was a little behind in
- 11:43Speaker 7: kind of putting this thing together. And A lot of
- 11:48Speaker 7: folks had reservations because it was not being held in
- 11:52Speaker 7: a hotel. Let's see. It was being held in Crimson Park,
- 12:03Speaker 7: which is an event center. Now, this is it right here, 208.
- 12:10Speaker 7: So I'm guessing you go in here and it's likely
- 12:15Speaker 7: on one of the upper floors. Above this bar here.
- 12:23Speaker 7: It's called... It's called Chet's. Chet's Bar. You stupid buttwad. Sorry,
- 12:33Speaker 7: that's my Chet impression from Weird Science. How would you
- 12:41Speaker 7: like a ham sandwich served in a dirty ashtray? All right.
- 12:52Speaker 7: So again, this, oh, hello. How you doing? Sorry about that.
- 13:03Speaker 7: Got distracted by some hot chocolate. Again, this is, there
- 13:11Speaker 7: are hotels close by within walking distance, but when you're,
- 13:17Speaker 7: you have to understand that, you know, 90%, I'll be
- 13:23Speaker 7: nice and say 80% of your target conference audience are
- 13:31Speaker 7: elderly people.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Okay?
- 13:33Speaker 7: I mean, that's just mostly what's there. No offense to anybody,
- 13:39Speaker 7: but 80% of the attendees of conferences are old AF. Okay? And,
- 13:47Speaker 7: you know, unless these people are locals, they're either going
- 13:51Speaker 7: to have to drive a long distance... Or fly and
- 13:57Speaker 7: then stay at a hotel and then walk to a
- 14:01Speaker 7: conference center? I don't know. That doesn't really make it easy.
- 14:08Speaker 7: I mean, at least in a hotel, it's all encapsulating, right?
- 14:15Speaker 7: It's an elevator ride from your room to the conference.
- 14:19Speaker 7: You can hang out, go to the bar, whatever, shoot
- 14:21Speaker 7: back up on your elevator. not too terribly taxing on
- 14:25Speaker 7: an old person, but when you do something like this,
- 14:30Speaker 7: where you have it at a venue that's likely upstairs,
- 14:33Speaker 7: and I'm guessing there's an elevator, all right, I'm not
- 14:38Speaker 7: saying there isn't, I'm guessing there would be, but, you know, still,
- 14:45Speaker 7: you have to expect that person to walk to and
- 14:47Speaker 7: from this conference multiple times a day, uh, for three days.
- 15:01Speaker 7: No bueno, as they say.
- 15:03Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:06Speaker 7: So let's take a look at this. This was the
- 15:13Speaker 7: original poster. And again, this was just posted October 3rd. Okay. Uh,
- 15:23Speaker 7: They just posted their speakers October 3rd. Now, a lot
- 15:32Speaker 7: of these folks that are listed as being speakers are
- 15:34Speaker 7: double dipping. That means they were going to speak at
- 15:39Speaker 7: both conferences this year. I know that is true of
- 15:42Speaker 7: Robert Grodin. I know that is true of Gary Fannin.
- 15:46Speaker 7: I know that is true of Dick Russell, Casey Quinlan,
- 15:49Speaker 7: Brian Edwards. Uh, Maybe Simpich, I don't know. Maybe Matt,
- 15:58Speaker 7: I don't know. But not a lot of exclusivity here.
- 16:05Speaker 7: Not a lot of exclusivity here. You know, and when
- 16:10Speaker 7: you're trying to plan out three days of research, discussion,
- 16:14Speaker 7: and community, you're going to need more than what we're
- 16:18Speaker 7: looking at here, which is basically a one and a
- 16:23Speaker 7: half day lineup. And that's giving everybody like an hour, okay?
- 16:30Speaker 7: You figure eight hours a day, you take eight names
- 16:33Speaker 7: off the top and give them each an hour or
- 16:38Speaker 7: each 55 minutes plus, you know, there'll be breaks here
- 16:42Speaker 7: and there, an hour for lunch, whatever. And then you
- 16:45Speaker 7: come down on the next day and you got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Yeah.
- 16:52Speaker 7: I don't know about that. I don't know about that.
- 16:57Speaker 7: And look, I don't know how Gabby chose her speakers
- 17:05Speaker 7: at this. I know some people probably offer to do it.
- 17:10Speaker 7: Some people are probably asked to do it. It's debatable.
- 17:23Speaker 7: I know Fred Litwin asked to do it. And he
- 17:25Speaker 7: was told no. Which is odd because they had also
- 17:36Speaker 7: announced in a different thread, not sure if I can
- 17:45Speaker 7: find it or not, that a different lone nutter, Robert Vitt,
- 17:54Speaker 7: Was going to speak. But they didn't want to have Fred.
- 17:56Speaker 7: The low nutter speak. Which I find interesting. But back
- 18:05Speaker 7: to this little announcement here. Alright. So October 3rd. Three
- 18:11Speaker 7: days doesn't have to mean. A three day size price tag. Allegedly.
- 18:18Speaker 7: So in person. If you're there in person. You're going
- 18:21Speaker 7: to pay $ 155. 00. Plus tax for three days worth of
- 18:30Speaker 7: conference fun. So, you know, you're looking at roughly, you know,
- 18:48Speaker 7: roughly 50 bucks a day. 50, 60 bucks a day.
- 18:54Speaker 7: which I think is a little high personally. You can
- 18:59Speaker 7: buy the whole damn conference virtually, which is, you know,
- 19:02Speaker 7: recorded stuff of the entire three days for 80 bucks.
- 19:06Speaker 7: And if you're a student, meaning if you're in a
- 19:09Speaker 7: high school or college, you only have to pay $ 44
- 19:11Speaker 7: for all three days. So 15 bucks a day, which, uh,
- 19:22Speaker 7: is crazy. The, The difference in pricing here. I mean,
- 19:29Speaker 7: you want to entice young people to come and make
- 19:33Speaker 7: it as cheap as possible. But you also don't want
- 19:35Speaker 7: to rape the old people who have enough money to
- 19:38Speaker 7: pay for this. And the banquet is extra. There's upgraded
- 19:48Speaker 7: ticket options for those too. So I don't know what
- 19:53Speaker 7: it would be with the dinner, which, of course, if
- 19:56Speaker 7: you're going there in person, you want to do that.
- 19:58Speaker 7: So I'm guessing that would kick your thing up to
- 20:01Speaker 7: over 200 and some dollars, be my guess. I don't know.
- 20:10Speaker 7: but I'm not just here to kick a horse when
- 20:13Speaker 7: they're down. No, no. I would like to be of
- 20:17Speaker 7: some assistance, not in the literal sense, but in, in,
- 20:27Speaker 7: in the sense that I would like to give you
- 20:29Speaker 7: some advice, Gabby. Now I met Gabby back in 2019.
- 20:34Speaker 7: She probably doesn't remember at Lancer. Um, I think Deborah
- 20:39Speaker 7: Conway was still there then, but Gabby was around, and
- 20:44Speaker 7: we met briefly at the book tables. Very nice. I
- 20:49Speaker 7: have nothing bad to say about Gabby personally. However, we
- 20:54Speaker 7: are talking about running a very long-standing, respected JFK Research Conference.
- 21:11Speaker 7: Part of those duties are keeping up with the website,
- 21:16Speaker 7: social media, getting a good facility with either good audio
- 21:26Speaker 7: and video capabilities or finding somebody in your orbit who
- 21:33Speaker 7: can make sure that they know how to hook up
- 21:36Speaker 7: shit the right way, audio and visually. as in you
- 21:42Speaker 7: need a tech person, right, to make sure everything's running smooth.
- 21:50Speaker 7: You also need to, ahead of time, scour for interesting speakers.
- 22:03Speaker 7: And what I mean by that is, look, love Robert
- 22:09Speaker 7: Grodin to death. But is he going to come out
- 22:13Speaker 7: here at age 80, whatever, and give us anything new?
- 22:22Speaker 7: I don't know. Who is Andy Keel? I don't know.
- 22:35Speaker 7: Who is Damon Ice? I don't know. I know who
- 22:40Speaker 7: Matt is. Matt Douthat. Dr. Gary Aguilar. He's been around forever.
- 22:48Speaker 7: He speaks every year. Anything new? Craig Bozarth. Couldn't tell
- 22:57Speaker 7: you who he is. Gary Fannin. Mark Young. Couldn't tell
- 23:09Speaker 7: you who he is. Ryan Jones. No clue. Dick Russell.
- 23:13Speaker 7: Have heard of him before. Casey Quinlan and Brian Edwards.
- 23:18Speaker 7: They're there every year. They talk about something every year.
- 23:21Speaker 7: And again, if you just listen to Brian Edwards over
- 23:24Speaker 7: on Cyphered Pass when I tore that shit apart, if
- 23:28Speaker 7: you really want to go hear what those guys have
- 23:30Speaker 7: to say, I don't know what to tell you. Jeff Meek,
- 23:37Speaker 7: Bill Simpich, Tom O'Neill. Tom O'Neill would be interesting. He's
- 23:42Speaker 7: the guy that wrote the book Chaos. About MKUltra and
- 23:45Speaker 7: Charles Manson. What's his name? It's right on the tip
- 23:55Speaker 7: of my tongue. I'll think of it here in a second.
- 23:59Speaker 7: Jolly West. Louis Jollyon West. So would that be an
- 24:05Speaker 7: interesting presentation?
- 24:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:15Speaker 7: Unless you've read his book already and seen the documentary,
- 24:17Speaker 7: unless he's got something new to say, I don't know.
- 24:26Speaker 7: And again, in this day and age, do we really
- 24:33Speaker 7: need conferences? And here's my point. And this is where
- 24:38Speaker 7: I'm getting to the meat of my advice for Gabby. Again,
- 24:45Speaker 7: I'm not here just to kick a horse when it's down.
- 24:50Speaker 7: I'd like to have a solution of some kind for you.
- 24:55Speaker 7: Because I understand that it is a lot of work
- 25:02Speaker 7: to put something like this together. Especially when you are
- 25:06Speaker 7: a single mother of two. And you work hard. And
- 25:11Speaker 7: this is your side gig. You also do a podcast
- 25:15Speaker 7: with your mom. You get it. You're busy. But this
- 25:21Speaker 7: is like... It's kind of a big deal. Because JFK
- 25:31Speaker 7: Lancer was the last respectable... JFK Research Conference out there.
- 25:41Speaker 7: There are others... There have been others, and there will
- 25:46Speaker 7: be others. Those folks are on the fringes of conspiracy theories.
- 25:56Speaker 7: People that tell you Oswald was in the doorway due
- 26:01Speaker 7: to these 200 points of match right here. See all
- 26:05Speaker 7: these little red arrows? Well, this means that, and this
- 26:07Speaker 7: means that, and this means that, and they were photoshopping
- 26:09Speaker 7: stuff back in 1963. And everybody was involved. Ike Alton
- 26:13Speaker 7: was involved. The Associated Press was involved. The Dallas Morning
- 26:16Speaker 7: News knew about it. Yada, yada, yada, yada, yada. All
- 26:22Speaker 7: the JFK horsemen, the motorcycle riders, they all stopped and
- 26:28Speaker 7: did a circle and so-and-so got off his motorcycle and
- 26:31Speaker 7: went and picked up a piece of skull and then
- 26:33Speaker 7: got back on it and he crossed in front of
- 26:35Speaker 7: the Secret Service car despite nobody seeing... It's not in any.
- 26:42Speaker 7: There's no eyewitness testimony. It's some horse shit that comes
- 26:48Speaker 7: from an unpublished manuscript from 1972. You think you found
- 26:51Speaker 7: something great? Not to mention Judith Baker looking in the corner.
- 27:03Speaker 7: Miss old, I banged Lee Harvey Oswald. Sure you did.
- 27:08Speaker 7: Sure you did. Sure, you participated in these top secret
- 27:12Speaker 7: scientific experiments with David Ferry and his cancer research on
- 27:16Speaker 7: the mice. Sure you did. Sure you did. Mm-hmm.
- 27:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:25Speaker 7: Horse shit. Horse shit. But I digress. Back to my
- 27:32Speaker 7: advice on how to handle this moving forward.
- 27:36Speaker 5: So.
- 27:42Speaker 7: Looking at their website here now, it's not jfklancer.com, it's jfkpublications.com. Now,
- 27:55Speaker 7: I can't tell you what the last book that JFK
- 28:00Speaker 7: Lancer Publications has published. I have no idea. There is
- 28:08Speaker 7: no store on this website To buy any JFK Lancer publications.
- 28:18Speaker 7: There's just not. You see what I'm seeing. I see
- 28:23Speaker 7: their social media handles up here. I see the about page.
- 28:28Speaker 7: Which is what we're looking at. Right? There's a schedule.
- 28:35Speaker 7: And then there's a login page. And that's it. There
- 28:39Speaker 7: is nothing else here. It tells you down here there's
- 28:45Speaker 7: 31 days left until the conference. Five hours, 21 minutes,
- 28:50Speaker 7: 48 seconds as it's counting down. But then up here,
- 28:55Speaker 7: where it says where, it says physical conference canceled. So
- 29:03Speaker 7: are they still having some kind of virtual thing? I
- 29:10Speaker 7: don't know. I haven't heard from any of the speakers.
- 29:13Speaker 7: I haven't heard confirmation or denial from Gabby. I'm guessing
- 29:19Speaker 7: they just shit-canned everything. Would be my guess. And my point, too,
- 29:28Speaker 7: is that most of the people who were excited about this,
- 29:34Speaker 7: when it was announced, booked their tickets.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Booked.
- 29:40Speaker 7: A hotel, and then a month and a half out,
- 29:43Speaker 7: you're going to cancel. I mean, I hope those folks
- 29:47Speaker 7: had some good insurance. And if they didn't, if they're
- 29:50Speaker 7: just losing out on this airfare and, uh, you know, uh,
- 29:59Speaker 7: All of this stuff. I mean, sure, they could just
- 30:02Speaker 7: go take a vacation to Dallas that weekend. And either
- 30:05Speaker 7: just go see the sights, which is what I would recommend.
- 30:09Speaker 7: Or if they really want to go to a conference,
- 30:11Speaker 7: they can go to the Cuckoo Conference. But I wouldn't
- 30:16Speaker 7: recommend that. My point is, you're going to piss a
- 30:24Speaker 7: lot of people off that have already purchased plane tickets.
- 30:29Speaker 7: And reserved hotels. For this weekend. To cancel the conference.
- 30:35Speaker 7: This late in the game. Because this wasn't announced. Until recently.
- 30:44Speaker 7: Like within the last week. That Lancer would be canceled. So.
- 30:53Speaker 7: I think what is needed.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 30:56Speaker 7: Here's the schedule. Here's the schedule. That's where I saw
- 31:00Speaker 7: Robert Vitt's name. He's a lone nutter. Schnapp. What happened?
- 31:15Speaker 7: I mean, it's pretty sad. This was the 30th annual
- 31:22Speaker 7: JFK Lancer Conference. And to have to cancel it is
- 31:27Speaker 7: a gigantic... To Lancer. And I mean gigantic. It's not good. And.
- 31:40Speaker 7: The reason. It's not good. Is because. Of exactly what
- 31:49Speaker 7: I'm doing. Right this second. I am living proof. That
- 31:58Speaker 7: any asshole. with access to a computer who can talk
- 32:02Speaker 7: a little bit, can have their own show or podcast. Now,
- 32:09Speaker 7: I didn't just walk in off the street like this.
- 32:12Speaker 7: I've been researching the case for 35 years. I've been
- 32:15Speaker 7: podcasting for 12 years. I'm not new at this. I
- 32:22Speaker 7: know what it takes to get here without cheating, Seifert passed.
- 32:28Speaker 7: I know what it means to get here without buying subscribers.
- 32:33Speaker 7: Ciphered past. I know what it means to put a
- 32:39Speaker 7: show together and not have to rely on some skafooza
- 32:42Speaker 7: guests to come along to make my show interesting. Ciphered past.
- 32:51Speaker 7: But I digress. I digress.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I digress.
- 32:57Speaker 7: You know, contrary to popular belief, there is a lot
- 33:00Speaker 7: of work that goes into the shows that we do
- 33:02Speaker 7: here on a bi, you know, well, every week we
- 33:05Speaker 7: do two shows. And every week, those shows are at
- 33:10Speaker 7: least two hours long. So that's four hours. And we
- 33:17Speaker 7: always have a topic, right? So you got to understand,
- 33:23Speaker 7: if somebody's speaking at Lancer, They're getting 50 to 55 minutes,
- 33:28Speaker 7: 45 minutes, maybe 55 if they're lucky, once a year.
- 33:39Speaker 7: I'm doing a Lancer presentation, in quotes, twice a week,
- 33:49Speaker 7: two times. So basically the equivalent of four Lancer presentations
- 33:57Speaker 7: a week. Averagely, what I'm doing, this is not even
- 34:01Speaker 7: including the book reviews or this show. I'm talking about
- 34:06Speaker 7: Just Alone Gummin' podcast. So every week I'm doing four
- 34:11Speaker 7: Lancer presentations. Or the equivalent of four Lancer presentations. Are
- 34:20Speaker 7: they all bangers?
- 34:21Speaker 2: No.
- 34:23Speaker 7: Do you learn something new every show? Try to give
- 34:26Speaker 7: you something new every show, but not always. Little known facts,
- 34:32Speaker 7: little tidbits. You know, it's hard when your audience is
- 34:36Speaker 7: smarter than the average bear, but I'm proud of my
- 34:40Speaker 7: audience being smarter than the average bear because that's where
- 34:48Speaker 7: I like to be is in the weeds with some
- 34:50Speaker 7: of this stuff. Like, you know, you want to talk about,
- 34:55Speaker 7: you know, Beverly Oliver's shadow for two hours. We can
- 34:58Speaker 7: do that. We certainly can do that. Um, but that's
- 35:06Speaker 7: where the fun lies. You know, I try to think
- 35:08Speaker 7: outside the box, bring you something new or a new, uh,
- 35:12Speaker 7: way of looking at things. But here is my thoughts
- 35:18Speaker 7: on moving forward. The best thing for Lancer to do.
- 35:21Speaker 7: All right. And I don't know to the extent, because
- 35:28Speaker 7: I've never actually talked to her about it, but I'm
- 35:32Speaker 7: not 100% certain about Gabby. And again, this is nothing personal.
- 35:40Speaker 7: I just have, I'm not certain about her extent of
- 35:45Speaker 7: commitment and dedication to the subject. I mean, it's one
- 35:53Speaker 7: thing to help out once a year. It's another thing
- 35:57Speaker 7: to plan and be behind the scenes and figuring everything
- 36:01Speaker 7: out during the course of a year for the next year.
- 36:07Speaker 7: I'm not sure of her dedication to the subject matter.
- 36:11Speaker 7: Kind of got... I wouldn't say inherited. And I know that... Well,
- 36:24Speaker 7: that doesn't even matter. But my suggestion would be this.
- 36:34Speaker 7: You have to ask yourself one question, Gabby. Moving forward,
- 36:40Speaker 7: what do you want JFK Lancer to be? It used
- 36:49Speaker 7: to be a place where authors who couldn't get published
- 36:54Speaker 7: at the big publishing houses could go to get published.
- 37:02Speaker 7: It used to be a repository of research. Articles, newsletters, magazines, books, documents, files.
- 37:17Speaker 7: All that went away. It doesn't exist anymore. except in
- 37:22Speaker 7: the Wayback Machine. And good luck with that. I just
- 37:31Speaker 7: showed you the website. If you're not going to be
- 37:34Speaker 7: publishing anything, drop the publications off of it. Totally. And
- 37:42Speaker 7: just call it JFK Lancer or JFK Lancer Conference. That's it.
- 37:49Speaker 7: The title is misleading. because you're not really publishing anything.
- 37:58Speaker 7: I would also ask of you to go look in
- 38:03Speaker 7: the mirror and really, really ask yourself, you know, based
- 38:13Speaker 7: on the last years of the Lancer Conference and the
- 38:19Speaker 7: dwindling attendance, the dwindling quality and quantity of respectable researchers
- 38:30Speaker 7: willing to come speak at your conference, what you want
- 38:42Speaker 7: to do moving forward. Because obviously, if you can't sell
- 38:48Speaker 7: tickets on the 30th anniversary of your own organization, that's
- 38:56Speaker 7: a problem. That's a problem. Also, I didn't see anything
- 39:05Speaker 7: on the website about any kind of sponsors. To me,
- 39:13Speaker 7: that is something that you need to do all year
- 39:21Speaker 7: long is try to get some sponsors to lessen the
- 39:28Speaker 7: burden of ticket costs for the average person that you
- 39:34Speaker 7: want to come to the conference. I mean, in this
- 39:41Speaker 7: day and age, you know, I mean, look, I hate
- 39:47Speaker 7: going to the movies nowadays because, I can't get out
- 39:50Speaker 7: of that movie theater. If I'm taking, if I go
- 39:55Speaker 7: on a date to a movie theater, between tickets and
- 39:57Speaker 7: popcorn and drink and whatever else, you are not getting
- 40:01Speaker 7: out of that theater for probably less than 60, 70
- 40:08Speaker 7: bucks if you're lucky. If you're lucky to go see
- 40:14Speaker 7: one movie with one person. Yet people continue to do it.
- 40:29Speaker 7: But you want to charge the equivalent of $ 50 a
- 40:32Speaker 7: day to come sit in some uncomfortable plastic chair and
- 40:37Speaker 7: listen to non-interesting people drone on for eight hours a day?
- 40:45Speaker 7: That's like paying to attend your own executions. You know
- 40:53Speaker 7: what I mean? Like at some point, it's just like,
- 40:58Speaker 7: I just can't sit here anymore. And you just pay
- 41:01Speaker 7: people to do this for three days? You better have
- 41:05Speaker 7: some very interesting speakers and promote the shit out of
- 41:12Speaker 7: it as them being interesting, as this being something new. Again,
- 41:18Speaker 7: my point being, And I'm living proof. Anybody can have
- 41:23Speaker 7: a show on the internet. Right? And you are more
- 41:27Speaker 7: than welcome to watch this show for free. Okay? You
- 41:34Speaker 7: don't have to get me a super chat. You don't
- 41:36Speaker 7: have to tip me $ 3. You don't have to ask
- 41:39Speaker 7: me what my email address is so you can send
- 41:41Speaker 7: me $ 10. It's free for everybody. Right? I have a sponsor.
- 41:50Speaker 7: Their name is YouTube. Okay. I'm not getting rich from YouTube. Okay.
- 41:58Speaker 7: But they do pay a little bit here and there.
- 42:02Speaker 7: When folks watch my stuff. Because of ad revenue. They
- 42:07Speaker 7: share it with me. Which I understand. They're giving me
- 42:11Speaker 7: a platform to reach millions of people. They're the ones
- 42:15Speaker 7: doing the heavy lifting. Locking down sponsors. or advertisers and
- 42:25Speaker 7: they're rewarding me for people watching my show a certain
- 42:30Speaker 7: percentage of people watching the show i get a certain
- 42:32Speaker 7: percentage of the ad revenue and again it's not that
- 42:34Speaker 7: big when you look at it from a per video
- 42:38Speaker 7: perspective right like this one my average random research ramblings
- 42:43Speaker 7: make anywhere between three and six dollars after a couple
- 42:49Speaker 7: weeks Just from ad revenue. That's not shit. Okay. And
- 42:57Speaker 7: then after that, YouTube takes a third of that.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 43:02Speaker 7: So do the math. Now, does it help that I
- 43:06Speaker 7: have 417 episodes at this point out? You know, so
- 43:14Speaker 7: for every video that people watch, you know, it piles
- 43:21Speaker 7: up a little bit over the course of a month.
- 43:23Speaker 7: But again, I'm not getting rich here. I can't quit
- 43:26Speaker 7: my nine to five, my job that I hate going
- 43:31Speaker 7: to every week. I can't quit that job to do this,
- 43:36Speaker 7: although it would be nice. But I got a long
- 43:39Speaker 7: way to go before we get there. So back to
- 43:44Speaker 7: point being, is that anytime I can have any one
- 43:50Speaker 7: of these people, right? I could call up Gary Aguilar.
- 43:58Speaker 7: I say, Hey man, uh, Hey, her, her answer got canceled. Um,
- 44:06Speaker 7: you know, would you like to come on the show
- 44:07Speaker 7: and talk about, you know, your research, what you got
- 44:10Speaker 7: something new, you know, yada, yada, yada. If he says, well,
- 44:14Speaker 7: I'm not, I don't really have anything new, but I
- 44:15Speaker 7: did have a book come out last year. And, um,
- 44:19Speaker 7: You know, well, you know, Gary, sorry, but no offense. But,
- 44:26Speaker 7: you know, if you don't have anything new, then there's
- 44:28Speaker 7: really no point to come on the show. You know,
- 44:30Speaker 7: but hey, the offer still stands. Any new research you
- 44:32Speaker 7: got going on, you're more than welcome. Reach out and
- 44:36Speaker 7: we'll get you on the show.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 44:38Speaker 7: Big time is asked. You know. You can have guests
- 44:48Speaker 7: on that are doing research. In fact, we're going to
- 44:55Speaker 7: have a good one on this week. And most people
- 44:57Speaker 7: aren't going to like him. But you have to respect
- 45:00Speaker 7: what he's doing. And what he does. We've got to
- 45:07Speaker 7: stop this mindset of, well, because he thinks Oswald did it, dude.
- 45:14Speaker 7: That disqualifies everything that comes out of his mouth. No,
- 45:18Speaker 7: it doesn't. It doesn't. I mean, would you like it
- 45:26Speaker 7: if somebody put that label on you? Well, you're a
- 45:29Speaker 7: conspiracy theorist, so therefore everything you have to say is horseshit,
- 45:33Speaker 7: and I'm not listening. You're not worthy of hearing out. Sorry.
- 45:39Speaker 7: You're a crazy person. I'm the sane one. No, I
- 45:44Speaker 7: think you have to be capable of having a conversation
- 45:47Speaker 7: about things. And if you can't do that, then what's
- 45:51Speaker 7: the point? Honestly, what's the point? You don't need to
- 45:57Speaker 7: have a knock-down, drag-out fight with anybody. I was just
- 46:01Speaker 7: on Fred Litwin's podcast. We had a very nice conversation.
- 46:05Speaker 7: Things didn't get heated or testy or anything like that.
- 46:08Speaker 7: We had a conversation. You can disagree with someone. You
- 46:13Speaker 7: can disagree... about perspective. We can agree on the same
- 46:21Speaker 7: event happening. We can agree on certain facts of the case,
- 46:24Speaker 7: but we look at it from two different perspectives. You know,
- 46:31Speaker 7: Fred may be convinced of one thing because of this,
- 46:33Speaker 7: and I may be convinced of one thing because of that.
- 46:36Speaker 7: That's what you have the conversation about. But again, what
- 46:42Speaker 7: is JFK Lancer going to be Moving forward, should they
- 46:47Speaker 7: get back in the conference game? Do you have what
- 46:54Speaker 7: it takes to get back in the conference game? I
- 47:00Speaker 7: saw Chris Gallup canceled his little thing he does every
- 47:04Speaker 7: year this year because, again, low ticket sales, no interest
- 47:10Speaker 7: in the case anymore. Again, we're so far out. People
- 47:15Speaker 7: have heard everything. We're in the age of the internet,
- 47:21Speaker 7: of instant communication. The TikTok age. Where you don't have
- 47:30Speaker 7: to wait for information. We don't have to wait a
- 47:32Speaker 7: year to hear from Robert Grodin. We can go over
- 47:38Speaker 7: to Jess Connell's channel right now. and actually hear a
- 47:41Speaker 7: conversation between two human beings about the case that is
- 47:45Speaker 7: way more interesting than anything that Robert Groden would stand
- 47:48Speaker 7: up in front of Lancer and say. We can do
- 47:54Speaker 7: that right now. You can go do it for free.
- 47:56Speaker 7: You don't have to pay money to attend a conference.
- 47:59Speaker 7: You don't have to buy plane tickets. You don't have
- 48:01Speaker 7: to reserve a hotel. You don't have to eat out
- 48:04Speaker 7: every night. You don't have to go buy you some
- 48:07Speaker 7: new Dove's. Or like Joe, go buy you some $ 170 pants.
- 48:17Speaker 7: But I digress. So what do we do moving forward, Lancer?
- 48:28Speaker 7: Here's what I would do. If I had taken over Lancer,
- 48:34Speaker 7: here's what I'd do. Look. it was very hard for
- 48:40Speaker 7: a long time to sustain two to three conferences. Because remember,
- 48:50Speaker 7: Copa met the same fate not too long ago. Kappa
- 48:59Speaker 7: met the same fate not too long ago. Now Lancer.
- 49:04Speaker 7: And look, while the other one might seem like it's
- 49:08Speaker 7: thriving or whatever. It's not. I'm sure ticket sales aren't
- 49:13Speaker 7: great there either. And what has happened to all the
- 49:17Speaker 7: rest will happen to that one eventually. You have to
- 49:23Speaker 7: bring the heat when you're talking about conference presentations. It
- 49:28Speaker 7: can't be something out of a book you wrote. It
- 49:30Speaker 7: can't be something that you've been on six podcasts pimping
- 49:35Speaker 7: all year long. By the time Lancer rolls around, it's
- 49:39Speaker 7: old news. So what is the solution? Here's my recommendation.
- 49:52Speaker 7: Starting in December, immediately after the anniversary, you should really
- 50:01Speaker 7: do a little research, Gabby, and do some digging and
- 50:11Speaker 7: see what folks are still working on this, researching the
- 50:20Speaker 7: case avidly and putting together good information. And once that
- 50:27Speaker 7: has been established, you know, take a while to do it. So,
- 50:31Speaker 7: you know, after the first of the year in January,
- 50:34Speaker 7: you should be, you should have a big long list
- 50:37Speaker 7: in front of you and you should be getting in
- 50:41Speaker 7: touch with these folks and say, look, We are not
- 50:46Speaker 7: doing an in-person conference this year. That is outdated. That
- 50:49Speaker 7: is so 1995. Okay? But I'll tell you what we
- 50:54Speaker 7: are doing. Here's what we're doing. We will be... Everything
- 51:06Speaker 7: will be digital. So here's what I want you to do.
- 51:12Speaker 7: You have.
- 51:14Speaker 7: A half an hour. And I wouldn't even put that
- 51:21Speaker 7: much of a strain on it. I would say you
- 51:22Speaker 7: have 30 minutes. 30 to 60 minutes.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Alright.
- 51:27Speaker 7: To come up with something. Record it. On your computer.
- 51:34Speaker 7: As a video file. Send it to me. Alright. And
- 51:39Speaker 7: I'm going to compile all of these submissions. For release.
- 51:46Speaker 7: Next November. So what you do. Is you just go
- 51:56Speaker 7: digital Gabby. You can sell physical media. You can sell DVDs.
- 52:03Speaker 7: Because old people love those. And you can sell digital downloads.
- 52:10Speaker 7: You can sell it on a little memory stick.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 52:13Speaker 7: Whatever. You keep the price low. Somewhere around, I don't know,
- 52:24Speaker 7: 30 bucks. For the entire conference. Virtual conference. Right? You
- 52:35Speaker 7: get sponsors throughout the year to advertise. You run commercials.
- 52:43Speaker 7: All doubly.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Or....
- 52:47Speaker 7: Physically where you can see them and that's the way
- 52:54Speaker 7: you do it moving forward I mean I don't know
- 52:59Speaker 7: of any other way to do this other than changing
- 53:05Speaker 7: the game start a JFK Lancer podcast and look just
- 53:14Speaker 7: do it once a month Where you have somebody on
- 53:18Speaker 7: once a month. Or, you know, twice a month. Whatever
- 53:24Speaker 7: the case may be. Get it sponsored. And do it
- 53:29Speaker 7: that way. And don't charge anything for it. You just
- 53:36Speaker 7: establish yourself as a podcast. Not the most horrible idea
- 53:45Speaker 7: in the world. And if you're not comfortable doing it,
- 53:51Speaker 7: you know, find a good talker, a good interview, somebody
- 53:56Speaker 7: very knowledgeable on the subject to step in and be
- 54:01Speaker 7: the host. And then you, in your capacity as head
- 54:08Speaker 7: of JFK Lancer, you acquire and schedule the guests, right?
- 54:18Speaker 7: you structure each episode in such a way that folks
- 54:22Speaker 7: know what they're getting. And it may be very successful.
- 54:32Speaker 7: I mean, if you're doing this to make money, then
- 54:37Speaker 7: I would say good luck. You know, if you're doing
- 54:44Speaker 7: this for the love of the game, I mean, you
- 54:55Speaker 7: could even pay the speakers at that point. You don't
- 55:04Speaker 7: have to pay them a lot. Say, hey, look, I'll
- 55:06Speaker 7: give you 50 bucks. You come on, talk a little bit, whatever.
- 55:15Speaker 7: Sign over your rates for us to sell this. DVD,
- 55:18Speaker 7: sell this digital download, blah, blah, blah. Here's 50 bucks.
- 55:24Speaker 7: Or you could offer them a cut of the sales
- 55:28Speaker 7: of that year's digital download or DVD. Like, hey, we'll
- 55:34Speaker 7: give you 1% of all the revenue from that. I
- 55:41Speaker 7: don't know. I'm just spitballing here. I don't know. Because
- 55:49Speaker 7: what I really want to say is you don't need
- 55:51Speaker 7: conferences anymore. JFK Lancer was good while it was good.
- 55:57Speaker 7: But things change. Times change. Technology changes. We don't have
- 56:06Speaker 7: to travel to see Jim Fetzer speaking in person anymore.
- 56:16Speaker 7: I can sit right here in this chair, and I
- 56:20Speaker 7: can look him up on YouTube, and I can go
- 56:24Speaker 7: watch him for free if I want, whenever I want.
- 56:29Speaker 7: That's where we're at. I guarantee you, this other conference
- 56:34Speaker 7: going on down there is not going to be the
- 56:37Speaker 7: bee's knees. It is not going to be heavily attended,
- 56:43Speaker 7: and it's not going to last forever. Meaning it's not
- 56:47Speaker 7: going to be around forever. It's going to meet the
- 56:49Speaker 7: same fate as all the other ones I've told you about.
- 56:52Speaker 7: Do you know how many organizations and things like this
- 56:58Speaker 7: have came and went in the case? I mean, my God.
- 57:05Speaker 7: Tons and tons and tons of them. And again, the
- 57:11Speaker 7: further away we get from the event.
- 57:15Speaker 7: The more interest in the case drops off, the more
- 57:18Speaker 7: OG researchers drop off. You know, I see Gary Shaw
- 57:27Speaker 7: being propped up and pulled around. All right, dude, you
- 57:31Speaker 7: wrote a book back in the 70s, 50 years ago.
- 57:34Speaker 7: What have you done for me lately other than defend
- 57:38Speaker 7: Beverly Oliver's honor? We'll talk about that on another show.
- 57:48Speaker 7: But I digress. You know, a lot of these guys
- 57:54Speaker 7: sit around this old stuff and, you know, they've been
- 57:58Speaker 7: around forever. They're respected by certain individuals for whatever reason.
- 58:09Speaker 7: But in this day and age, we just... The conference model...
- 58:14Speaker 7: Is outdated... And unnecessary... Is my point... So take the name...
- 58:26Speaker 7: Of the organization that you paid for... And do something
- 58:30Speaker 7: else with it... Either start publishing shit... Start getting your
- 58:36Speaker 7: repository back in order... If it's even possible... Of all
- 58:42Speaker 7: the old publications... The old research, the old files, the
- 58:46Speaker 7: old documents, the old books, the old magazines, all that
- 58:52Speaker 7: stuff is an invaluable resource. And how you do that
- 58:58Speaker 7: is you sell ad space on your website to make
- 59:02Speaker 7: money from the people that visit it. That's how that works. Again,
- 59:09Speaker 7: you're not going to get rich, but... Every little bit helps. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 59:14Speaker 7: If you want to keep this JFK Lancer thing in...
- 59:19Speaker 7: The people's hearts and minds and mouths... You want to
- 59:23Speaker 7: give them something positive to talk about. Not something negative
- 59:26Speaker 7: to talk about.
- 59:29Speaker 6: Like, ah.
- 59:31Speaker 7: Boy, they canceled. A month and a half before, not
- 59:36Speaker 7: a good look. Poor ticket sales on your organization's 30th anniversary.
- 59:42Speaker 7: That is not good. That is not good. And you
- 59:46Speaker 7: know what's even not gooder about that? Is that I
- 59:56Speaker 7: find it so hard to believe that more people Not
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: just in Dallas, but in the surrounding areas of Dallas
- 1:00:08Speaker 7: like Fort Worth, Irving, Garland, Rockwall, Arlington. All of these
- 1:00:18Speaker 7: communities and Dallas and you can't fill up a fucking room.
- 1:00:27Speaker 7: for a conference about a president, a United States president
- 1:00:30Speaker 7: who was gunned down in the street in your own city.
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: I find that fascinating that you cannot fill up a
- 1:00:40Speaker 7: room for three days just from locals. Not to mention
- 1:00:48Speaker 7: people who you would expect to fly in from across
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: the country and the world. To Dallas on the anniversary
- 1:00:57Speaker 7: is almost a mecca trip, if you will. But you
- 1:01:03Speaker 7: can't even fill up a room of locals? That's bad, man.
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: I mean, Dallas, this ugly blemish is part of the
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: history of your city. And no matter how hard you
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: try to bury it, that six-floor museum was hopping when
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: I was there. There was all kinds of people in
- 1:01:25Speaker 7: there going through doing the tour. Obviously, they're interested in
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: the case. So if you have 200 people going through
- 1:01:34Speaker 7: that museum every day, you can't fill up a room
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: of 50 people to have a conference in Dallas? That
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: is just sad to me. It's time to flip the script,
- 1:01:49Speaker 7: change the model, throw out the old shit, bring in
- 1:01:53Speaker 7: the new. And just cut ties. Cut bait. Get out
- 1:01:59Speaker 7: while the getting's good. You know, doing this thing as
- 1:02:03Speaker 7: a passion project and losing money, your own money, is
- 1:02:10Speaker 7: not a good business model. But you can't keep convincing
- 1:02:15Speaker 7: yourself that maybe this should be different. It won't. It won't.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: I have rambled enough. I have rambled enough. So on
- 1:02:31Speaker 7: a lighter note, as we skedaddle out the door here,
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: on the way out the door, I came across something
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum that
- 1:02:44Speaker 7: made me giggle. So hopefully it'll make you giggle and
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: we'll giggle our way on out of this episode before
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: we get canceled by everybody who hates me. I'm joking.
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: Everybody loves Big Bad Bob. Codenames in the Kennedy White House.
- 1:03:06Speaker 7: These are codenames that the Secret Service had for folks
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: and things and places in the Kennedy White House. This
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: is just Secret Service lingo. So everybody knows Lancer. Hi,
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: JFK Lancer. Lancer was the president. Okay, that was his codename, Lancer.
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: Lace was Jackie Kennedy's nickname, or codename. Lancer and Lace.
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: Caroline was Lyric, and JFK Jr. was Lark. So you
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: have Lancer, Lace, Lyric, and Lark. Say that four times fast.
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: Random research rambles with Rob. Lancer, Lace, Lyric, and Lark. Lancer, Lace, Lyric,
- 1:03:50Speaker 7: and Lark. Now some of these don't make any sense,
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: like Acrobat being Andrews Air Force Base. Angel, the presidential aircraft.
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: Fitting name for that. Leaving Dallas. Camp David was nicknamed
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: the Cactus. Again, some of these are interesting. Some of
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: them are not. So the White House was called Crown.
- 1:04:21Speaker 7: Dapper was Mr. O'Leary. Mugsy O'Leary. Clint Hill's nickname was Dazzle.
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: Roy Kellerman's nickname was Digest. I guess maybe because he
- 1:04:34Speaker 7: farted all the time, you know, he just couldn't digest
- 1:04:36Speaker 7: his food very well. We had Agent Floyd Boring, who
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: was the Deacon. Domino was James Rowley, Chief of the U.S.
- 1:04:46Speaker 7: Secret Service. Dragon, now that's a cool nickname, was Agent Campion.
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: Gerald Bain was Duplex. Dean Rusk's nickname was Freedom. Let's see. Dr.
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: Berkeley was Market. Crash Boat PT-109 was Novice. The Vice
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: Presidential Speedboat was nicknamed Rockfish. That's LBJ's boat. Some of
- 1:05:21Speaker 7: these are pretty... self-explanatory like Satchel was the presidential courier
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: or the bag man. Codename Satchel. Uh, Smokey was Sergeant
- 1:05:33Speaker 7: Major Duffy. Spectator was General Samson of the DEFCON agency.
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: Spud was Mr. Nash Messenger. Subway was, I guess, Communication
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: Center on the east end of the White House. Uh,
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: Tiger Colonel James Swindle. He's the presidential pilot. Uh, Tulip
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: was Corky Magan, the presidential pilot of official matters. The
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: Johnson LBJ ranch was known as volcano. Like, ah, God,
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: we got to go into the volcano again this weekend.
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: Vice president Johnson's code name was volunteer because I don't
- 1:06:19Speaker 7: know why. Uh, Maybe he volunteered for a lot of things.
- 1:06:24Speaker 7: Kenny O'Donnell's nickname was Wand. Malcolm Kilduff was Warrior. General
- 1:06:32Speaker 7: Clifton was Watchman. Pierre Salinger, Wayside. Mrs. Evelyn Lincoln, the
- 1:06:39Speaker 7: President's Secretary, was codenamed Willow. The Air Force aide, again,
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: this is one of those apropos names, General Godfrey McHugh
- 1:06:49Speaker 7: was nicknamed Wing. and witness Captain Tazewell Shepard, another naval aide.
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: So these were the Secret Service lingo in the Kennedy
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: White House. I just thought it was funny. Just a
- 1:07:05Speaker 7: way to end the show on a light note of
- 1:07:08Speaker 7: such a horrible, miserable topic of canceling things. I hate
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: when things get canceled. It's a real bummer. A real bummer. But,
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: you know, I think it's time to reevaluate things. Revamp
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: and reevaluate. Reassess. And either cut bait, cut ties and
- 1:07:35Speaker 7: move on. Or come up with something really new. And
- 1:07:42Speaker 7: you know what? If it doesn't work, hey, fuck it.
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: You tried. You know? At least you tried. But anyway,
- 1:07:49Speaker 7: that's it for me. Random Research Rambles with Rob. I
- 1:07:55Speaker 7: will see you very soon for a book review. And
- 1:07:59Speaker 7: flying this week solo, allegedly, possibly, on the Lungomen. Wednesday night,
- 1:08:08Speaker 7: we'll see. Me and Joe did pre-record for a Friday
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: show with a very fantastic guest. So be on the
- 1:08:15Speaker 7: lookout for that. Until then, this is Big Bad Bob
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: fighting off snakes. Got to watch out for them. Peace out.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: Started with a last red card and a note and
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: a note and a margin thin.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: Then a side road turned to three more roads and
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: here we go.
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: Again A photograph, a witness, a date that doesn't.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: Quite align One small fact becomes a winding track by.
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: A quarter after nine Random.
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: Research, ramblings with a rock Take the long way, let
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: the rabbit hole bow.
- 1:09:18Speaker 7: From odd little.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Facts to the big what ifs. We'll follow every tangent.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: Till the evidence slips.
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: Random research, ramblings with Rob.
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: Bring your questions, bring your curious thoughts.
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: Was it the grassy note or a file misfiled?
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Rob's got a.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: Theory, but he's checking them out.
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: No final answers, just a notebook.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: And a grin.
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: Tuning for the question and the rabbit hole within. Random research,
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: ramblings with Rob. Where the side note is where we begin.
