- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop today.
- 0:30I want to talk to you about magic moments.
- 0:33So what exactly is a Magic Moment by my definition?
- 0:36Well I'm sure you must have yours but I'm going to give you
- 0:38mine, which is also a shared learning that I got from Miss,
- 0:43Becky Robbins. And there's my time that I spent
- 0:47over there with Tony Robbins. The first concept I ever heard
- 0:52of this was Tony and Becky talking about making magic
- 0:55moments with people that you love and they were using it in
- 0:59reference to children and how you create these special times
- 1:05with them so that they will always have this as part of, you
- 1:08know, they're their memories, you know, because it's so, it's
- 1:11not about what you give them. It's about how you make those
- 1:14moments with them in the process.
- 1:16So I thought about this and I was like, gosh, you know what my
- 1:20Did this with me, they were never special words or we never
- 1:23had a label for it as magic moments.
- 1:25But for sure, we had those things, because my dad used to
- 1:28work in different jobs that kept him away for extended periods of
- 1:34time. You know, overnight shifts,
- 1:37things like that. And one of the things that I
- 1:40distinctly remember is waking up in the morning and always having
- 1:43this little brown bag at the bottom of the bed, and in this
- 1:46little brown bag would be something that he would bring
- 1:48back to me. Now, it wasn't about the thing.
- 1:50So let me be very clear about that.
- 1:51It was just the fact that I knew he had thought of me.
- 1:54Because the bag was sitting there.
- 1:56And in fact, one of the times that I open the bag, there was a
- 1:59bust of John F Kennedy in there. And I remember, looking at the
- 2:03bottom of it, and it was something that he got from a
- 2:06place called Cumberland Farms, which is an East Coast
- 2:09convenience store and I laughed because I thought, oh my gosh,
- 2:13you know, how cute is this little thing?
- 2:15And I was probably, like, 6 or 7 years old and I kept that thing
- 2:19forever. And it was It meant so much to
- 2:21me and it wasn't the fact that it was JFK.
- 2:24It was the fact that it was just a gift from him.
- 2:28And it was a moment where he would remember me and he would
- 2:31put something on the, on the end of the bed because he left
- 2:35before I woke up, or he came in, you know, did a quick turnaround
- 2:38and then left and those are magic moments as the as I knew
- 2:43them to grow up. But you know, I cultivated those
- 2:46over the years with my daughter and now with my son and And my
- 2:50daughter still talks about them. Where I would just be pick her
- 2:53up from school and I would say, guess what?
- 2:55Today is a random day and today is going to be a Magic Moment
- 2:59day and we're going to have ice cream for dinner and we would
- 3:03literally go have big giant Sundays for dinner.
- 3:06Nothing else. Just big giant Sundays and she
- 3:09still to this day talks about the fact that we did those
- 3:12things and I love that because it wasn't about the big trip.
- 3:16It wasn't about doing all these things that were so You know,
- 3:21planned out as much as they were, just those like, having
- 3:25real genuine fun, or having something that you can just
- 3:29create as a moment with somebody else.
- 3:32And I think this is where you can really hone in and make
- 3:35people feel special because if you know what's important to
- 3:39them, if you understand what their makes them tick, which
- 3:43everybody wants to be seen, everybody wants to be seen
- 3:47myself, included, everyone wants to feel acknowledged and he
- 3:50wants to feel like, hey, you get me.
- 3:53So when you create a Magic Moment around what that person
- 3:55may need or want you are 10 times and you're making it even
- 4:00more profound because you took the time to figure this piece
- 4:03out. So I'm going to encourage you to
- 4:06look around you and I don't care if it's someone in your office,
- 4:09I don't care. If it's somebody that, you know,
- 4:12you works for you or with you, I don't care if it's you just
- 4:16making muffins and showing up at the office and saying, hey, I
- 4:19made gluten-free It's for everybody in here today because
- 4:22somebody here is gluten-free, that's going to mean the world
- 4:24to that person and it's going to make them feel seen and matter.
- 4:29And isn't that what it's all about?
- 4:30Everybody wants to feel like they matter again?
- 4:33I know I keep saying it but it really is the key.
- 4:36And when you start to look at people who are closer to you,
- 4:40like your significant others, your children, your parents,
- 4:46there is something to be said for the fact that those moments
- 4:50hang with you. And I can remember making those
- 4:54moments with my grandmother because she liked to have her
- 4:56nails painted, but she didn't like the paint them.
- 4:58And I would sit with her when I was in high school and she was
- 5:02still well at that time. And I would sit with her and I
- 5:05would paint her nails. And she would always say to me.
- 5:08Oh, this feels so wonderful to have, you sit here with me and
- 5:11do this, and it means so much to me.
- 5:13And I never understood at the time how much it meant to her,
- 5:15until she was gone. So, in light of the world and
- 5:19the way that it is How quickly things fly by?
- 5:22I'm going to remind you to create some magic moments.
- 5:25Think about some people that are special to you make a list and
- 5:29just say these are people that are special to me and how can I
- 5:31create magic moments for them? Even if it's writing a sticky
- 5:35note that says I love you and leaving it for them.
- 5:37Even if it's something simple it doesn't have to cost money.
- 5:41It doesn't have to be a big thing.
- 5:43It has to be genuine and thought out.
- 5:46So I'm going to encourage you to find those people that you can
- 5:48do that with. Because what?
- 5:50Way to start off the week, right?
- 5:52Dive in and do it. So I hope you guys have a
- 5:54blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:58Bye.
