Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Binyamin Nitya, who has been issued well, an risked warrant
- 0:04Speaker 1: has been issued for him from the International Criminal Court,
- 0:07Speaker 1: but he's not aligned. Vincent mekavinnie as our UK europe
- 0:10Speaker 1: correspond Vincent, what's going on here? Well?
- 0:13Speaker 2: The International Criminal Court a few hours ago issued these
- 0:17Speaker 2: arrest warrants for three individuals, one of them the Israeli
- 0:20Speaker 2: Prime Minister Binyamin Nittanyahu, and also the Fence secretory you've Golant,
- 0:25Speaker 2: as well as Mohammad d'ief of Hamas, although Israel says
- 0:31Speaker 2: that he was killed in an air strike in July.
- 0:34Speaker 2: The judges said in their statement there was reasonable grounds
- 0:36Speaker 2: that the three men wore criminal responsibility for alleged war
- 0:40Speaker 2: crimes and crimes against humanity during the war between Israel
- 0:44Speaker 2: and Hamas. That both Israel and Hamas have rejected these allegations,
- 0:50Speaker 2: all right.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And one of these claims that Russia has used an
- 0:54Speaker 1: intercontinental ballistic missile against Ukraine. Is this being confirmed yet?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, there is some confusion around this claim. The Ukrainian
- 1:04Speaker 2: President Zelenski has come forward and said that a new
- 1:07Speaker 2: rocket was used and says that their intelligence says to
- 1:10Speaker 2: have the characteristics of an ICBM, so that is an
- 1:13Speaker 2: inter continental ballistic missile, the kind of missile that you
- 1:17Speaker 2: would attach a nuclear warhead to and fire it thousands
- 1:20Speaker 2: of kilometers. That would be a new move by Russia.
- 1:24Speaker 2: There's no claim that there was a nuclear warhead attached,
- 1:27Speaker 2: but the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is sharing the details and
- 1:31Speaker 2: intelligence they've got on the missile with partners so that
- 1:33Speaker 2: they can ascertain what exactly it was. The US is
- 1:37Speaker 2: disputing this, Russia is saying nothing at the moment. It comes,
- 1:41Speaker 2: of course, with an escalation this week, the attack of
- 1:44Speaker 2: missiles being provided by the US being given approval for
- 1:47Speaker 2: them to fire into Russian territory. These long range missiles
- 1:51Speaker 2: and the UK's storm shadow missiles similarly also now being
- 1:55Speaker 2: allowed by the British Prime Minister Sikistama to be allowed
- 2:00Speaker 2: to be shot further into Russia. We know that Russia
- 2:03Speaker 2: updated its nuclear doctrine earlier in the week. That was
- 2:06Speaker 2: seen as a bit of saber rattling. But if they
- 2:08Speaker 2: are using ICBMs, perhaps it is a sign that things
- 2:11Speaker 2: are getting even more tense in the region.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, what's your statesmans, and is it that things are
- 2:15Speaker 1: getting more tints in the region, which I mean obviously
- 2:18Speaker 1: they are, but is it just posturing a head of
- 2:21Speaker 1: Trump coming in and potential deal making. What's your scenes?
- 2:26Speaker 2: It does feel like posturing. But at all times, you know,
- 2:29Speaker 2: this could be this kind of situation could go incredibly wrong.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I mean that there are you know, new Ukraine that
- 2:38Speaker 2: we know it has, you know, the like social nobyl
- 2:40Speaker 2: it has other nuclear plants as well. If they're using
- 2:42Speaker 2: these kinds of weapons, if they go off site because
- 2:45Speaker 2: you shot them down or something, it could cause damage
- 2:47Speaker 2: to infrastructure like that. I mean, it is an alarming
- 2:50Speaker 2: because one mistake, one miscalculation. If they do fire an
- 2:54Speaker 2: actual ICBM, how has anyone to know if they track
- 2:57Speaker 2: it on a satellite and it's moving, whether or not
- 2:59Speaker 2: it does have an nuclear warhead attached to it or not.
- 3:01Speaker 2: So it does feel like quite a tense moment.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, all right, Vincent, thank you very much for that.
